In short

The hosts debate a controversial West Ham vs Arsenal VAR decision (they argue it was a foul but VAR is inconsistent and ruins flow), then discuss the Premier League title/relegation implications, player-of-the-season arguments, and Real Madrid’s reported internal crisis. They also veer into a long “best sandwich” chat and a “which club/country would you support” segment.

Guests/backgrounds

No named guests appear. The episode is a panel of football-focused hosts (including one who claims to be a former pro/keeper and another who references playing for Manchester United in youth).

Key claims

  1. The VAR call in the West Ham/Arsenal game is “100%” a foul; the bigger issue is inconsistency and excessive intervention.
  2. VAR delays (they cite “17 replays”) and prior precedent cloud referees’ judgments.
  3. Arsenal’s title push should be favored; relegation outcomes depend on remaining fixtures.
  4. Real Madrid is in turmoil after alleged training-ground/dressing-room conflict involving Valverde and Ceballos/Ciomini (names as spoken), with Valverde reportedly concussed.

Notable examples

  • West Ham/Arsenal VAR penalty-box incident (hand/arm contact and pulling).
  • Discussion of past high-profile errors (e.g., Steven Gerrard slip).
  • Goalkeeper saves and “player of the season” candidates (Gabriel vs Bruno Fernandes vs Declan Rice).

I've got to say, you know, during the week we have a bit of something to talk about and it's usually something negative to be fair, isn't it, really?

0:41You've been done with the sausage rolls and what have you and all that carry on. But I've got to say, something happened to me this week. Everyone loves a freebie, right? Don't start. Everyone loves a freebie. I'm in a supermarket I've got a Radio 2 show Sunday morning Radio 2 11 till 1 and I was talking about lemon curd right because lemon curd's a bit of a forgotten spread everyone bangs on about jam and marmalade but no one gives lemon curd any love I'm talking about how much I like lemon curd butties back in the day I'm in a supermarket and a lady who works there she went can you come with me over here I went over She went, here, stick that in your thing.

1:28Free. Jarrah Lemon Curd. I took it home. Oh, and it just took me back to me childhood. Oh, I love it. Don't like it. Awful. Oh, I thought you'd like lemon curd. No, I don't really like lemon flavoured stuff. Like lemon cake and stuff. No, it's not for me. Lemon curd, it's a bit, yeah, not for me. Well, if you're sat at home, right, if you ain't right, I'm going to do myself a sandwich. That's what you're thinking about. I know people used to have it, didn't they? well firstly before we get into the whole sandwich do you know what I was just going to say off the top of my head why don't we do top five sandwiches but I don't want to do that because every time we do anything like that on here like we did biscuits and other things overlap do it, talk sport do it I'm not having it lads get your own ideas you lot you've got enough money between you we've got a sleeper agent over here I've been thinking about your sandwiches as well and you tell me we're not doing it well no I'm going to firstly don't tell me lemon curds in your top five no no hang on a minute hang on a minute before we get into the actual filling you've got white bread brown bread balm cakes or sourdough what you're going for first ciabatta oh fuck off balm cakes yeah everyone's got them in don't call them balm cakes it's a muffin muffin odd bunch you manks aren't you no it changes everywhere you go that, didn't it?

2:49What do you call a muffin? A muffin, yeah. A muffin's what I see with blueberries in a cake. No, it's a muffin. Oven bottom muffin. Right, well, what would you... What I put on it is if it's chips, like I say, chip butter, or chip barm. Yeah, you say chip barm, you just said barm. I do, yeah. You just said chip barm, but if I say... When you lived in Garton it was a chip muffin, now you're going to chip barm. Now you're going to hail it. It's a barm. I'd say muffins posher than barm. my go to is definitely just the word muffin that's posher then bam bam hey no chip muffin go on then it's a chip muffin so you'd say chip bam a chip bam is that your number one oh no my number one would definitely be the go to the old school ham salad with salad cream do you know what that's a lovely sandwich that that is a lovely sandwich especially with a salad cream it's got a boiled egg on it as well yeah always do you know what if I have a salad I like chips on a salad I know it's counter counterproductive but I like it do you know have you never had chips on a salad no you must have had chips on a salad never no if you have like an Indian I'd have like chicken tikka with chips and salad you have salad with an Indian salad yeah yeah no fucker ever he's saying it's a bit like that pickle stuffy trade goes get that away who has I I'm on the mangoes, the red onions and the papadoms.

4:17Lovely stuff. Yeah. The pickle tray. In fact, when you get it ordered to your house, they put the salad in a little, like, like, one of them bags, what they pick dog shit up in. What's your number one then? Number one sandwich. They put a piece of lemon on it, so I have to throw that away. Don't I, lemon? I would say, you know, when it comes to sandwiches, it's different camps, isn't there? Because you can have a sandwich, and that's what I was going to say about your ham salad, a bit too much faff. Like, I love a sausage butty. Yeah. Right? But you're cooking it. if you're talking about out the fridge cooled sandwich easy I just thought going to the shop and get back that's what I thought going to the shop not making it you didn't say that I'm not saying anything too left field though everyone makes a sandwich at home what is it with you Premier League football lads have you all got butters or something don't you just cut the crust off don't make sandwiches fuck off you must have made a sandwich go to the butter shop I can't remember the last time I made a sandwich butter shop you must have made a sandwich in your lives oh yeah I have yeah yeah but it was a fucking long time ago I mean you don't have you wouldn't make a sandwich at home no never I fucking knew you think you know someone is that you two winding me up I'm serious I think the only sandwich I would make is if the kids come round they want a bacon butchie on a Sunday morning that's probably the only sandwich yeah but again that's what I mean that might be the only time Sunday morning but not always well I was going to say if you're going cold sandwiches at home not by right well We'll do a shopping all in a minute, but just at home, you can't whack ham, cheese, bit of salad cream.

5:49White bread, best butter. What is best butter, though? It's like the block stuff, isn't it? Yeah, the one, yeah. Country Life? Country Life. I'm partial to a bit of Kerrygold. Oh, Lurpak rubbish. Lurpak's rubbish. How much do you know you've never had a... you don't make sandwiches? I don't like Lurpak. I don't like it. Do you know what I think Lurpak is? It's a bit too, it's not buttery enough, is it? It's almost white. You want your butt to be in yellow. It looks like lard, doesn't it? Yeah, it does a bit, yeah. That's what puts me off. Do you remember the Country Life ads back in the day? Oh, we are the lads from Country Life and you can't put a better bit of butter on your knife.

6:27No. Is he Welsh? You're fucking two years old. You're two years younger than me. You don't act as though you're Welsh. Where's he from? He's from Bolton. That's my best Cornish accent. right so at home you're saying ham salad I'm saying cheese and ham at home you make ham salad at home no if I would that's what I'd choose to buy I'd make if I was going to make one if he was making one at home yeah I like corned beef salad with salad cream if you're having corned beef it's your sandwich but you never put salad with it and the only thing you put with a corned beef sandwich is Bransden pickle thank you no thank you Nicky have you not had corned beef with brown sauce well it's essentially the same thing but Bransden pickles It's got fucking lumps in it.

7:08It's essentially not the same thing. Brown sauce is not brown sauce. It's Bronston pickle. It's just got lumps in. Of course it is. It's the same taste. It's just got bits in it. No way. It's a bit like piccolili. No way. I love piccolili. Cheese and piccolili sandwich. I like that one. Well, see, you're fucking all over the sandwiches now, aren't you? Yeah, and hunger. Who's the producer at Overlap, you mate? Ben. Ben. Oh, he's at home now. Now we're having a bit of this. Get Gary Neville in here and I talk about this. Right, if you're out then and you're going in a shop. So now you can have cold or hot.

7:41I love turkey stuffing. Oh yeah, that's good. Hot turkey stuffing sandwich. I'm a hot beef and onion man. I love a hot, I love it. A bit of gravy on it. Yeah. Hot beef and onion, minute steak. I'm thinking. Not minute steak, like fucking cardboard that. Minute steak, yeah, steak Canadian. Steak Canadian. You used to have it every Saturday morning. Yeah, brilliant. That means I'm making my fried onions. Yeah, you never have a steak Canadian. Not for me. Not like cardboard, if you could come on. No, there's a paper on either side. Yeah. They had to peel them off. Well, that's where he's going wrong.

8:08He's not too fucking... They're like... He's cutting a piece of paper. He's got fucking shit, this.

8:22Yeah, hot beef and onion, your turkey and stuffing. I'm going like bacon with brown sauce, bacon and egg with red and brown sauce. That's a breakfast sandwich. The sandwiches, though. Who's the breakfast? You just said your favourite fillings. No, I know, but you've just said red and brown sauce. Yeah, together, yeah. Anything with an egg can have red and brown sauce. Spam and egg. Hang on, hang on, Scorsi, you're blowing me fucking mind. You're going to... Go on, sorry. Let's just... Red and brown sauce together. Yeah. But only on bacon and egg. Only on sausage and egg. And only on spam and egg.

8:56You're acting as though... Am I the only person reacting to red and brown sauce? Bacon on its own is just brown sauce. or red yeah yeah no I'm I'm happy with them on their own are great but you did mention something before spam and egg oh red sauce not both oh fucking hell he's got an egg on it both and white pepper I love white pepper eh white pepper on my Sunday dinner thank god I've got you agreeing on some white pepper you've got to have white pepper on cabbage yeah on your Sunday dinner white pepper yeah oh I've got a picture on my phone every restaurant now has black pepper doesn't it it's like I've got white pepper come out like that No I don't Get the sax out Hosh and the black pepper Yeah I like the white pepper I like white pepper On chips and egg Just for your tea Chips, egg and beans With white pepper on That's just salt and vinegar Loads in it Chips, egg and beans You don't have vinegar With an egg do you You don't have vinegar With an egg There's been loads of football This weekend you know Salt and vinegar Well there's only The reason I'm talking this Is Fucking West Ham and Arsenal I'm up to do with it Let me tell you we will talk about it but it's up you know can I just say right at the beginning of the conversation he said something I thought that's actually no one thinks about it but it is God to you and that's the chip barm oh yeah chip muffin all day long then salt vinegar chip muffin gravy eh chip muffin chip barm no you don't have it on gravy a little bit of gravy because you're fucking all up so down you can't pick it up it's not transportable salt and vinegar did you ever have that from the chip it up yeah chip muffin with gravy on yeah so they lie it flat in the truck and you just eat it and you just eat it do you have a bit of pie on it as well chips and pie and chips you two were actual professional sports people what you fucking all you do is go chippy you two during your playing career we used to go training at the cliff on a Thursday so we'd get the bus from where we lived into Manchester and the bus from Manchester and every time you get into town before training you'd have a chippy like half an hour before you went and trained this is when you're on when you first signed for United 14, 15 yeah going to night training straight from school straight from school you had to go to town to go to training and you're starving so you'd have a chippy do you remember when you were that age where you could eat that and play football and still be alright no you'd be spewing your ring up spewing your ring up anyhow we're all agreement on what was the one we all agreed on we all said yes we've done it we've cracked it what was the one we all agreed on then mine ham sandwich no no no I said we've picked something we all agree on what were it white pepper white pepper oh fuck it's no do with a sandwich let's get on to the football

11:38nothing do with what we were talking about can we just say though if you're having a breading at home it's got to be white warbys toasty orange packet all day long great we can move on right West Ham Arsenal now obviously this is everyone's talking about it before we get into sort of was it a foul or was it not a foul? And the whole varsinal thing. Varsinal. Varsinal. Yeah. I've got to say, when it comes to, no one's talking about West Ham, right? That decision, never mind them winning the league Arsenal, West Ham getting relegated on the strength of that decision, really, I know, previous games, of course it is.

12:26No, it's not, because there's loads of games, still games to go. They're not relegated. There's only two games left, isn't there? They're not relegated, are they? Yeah, but I can't see Spurs slipping up now. Look, it's a big fact... Not with Deserby in charge. Yeah, I think they'd probably win tonight, won't they? Yeah. But then they've got Everton and Chelsea, which is not easy. West Ham games look a bit easier. I can't remember what they are, but they look a bit easier. I'd sooner play West Ham at the minute than Chelsea. Look, that was a big fact. Of course it was, yeah. It was a big decision.

12:52And I just said on the radio there that it took them 17 replays to watch at the VAR, people. 17 I didn't see live yesterday I've seen this morning I reckon it needed two replays it's a foul there's two fouls no one's he's got his hand on top of him you can't move and the one pulling him that's like yeah Alan he's got his arm across him and I'm sure he's grabbing his arm as well pulling his arm down there's someone behind pulling his arm but he's got his arm and he's holding his arm there's no two ways about it it is a foul and you'd know as a keeper wouldn't you once you put what no I like that no as a because there's no insult I thought wow he's actually said something there as a top keeper oh no he's getting a little bit fucking if I put my hand across you there you can hold that and it's a big lad yeah so that's strong you know you can't move can you yeah you can't get your arms up I mean Ray had made the most of it but he were being impeded the VAR's a disgrace and I hope they get rid of it to be fair because literally everyone knows that was a foul but I don't think people are arguing the fact that that was a foul it's quite obvious but it's all what goes on previously so there's so many fouls go on Wrestlemania every single time in a penalty box there's so many fouls go on Arsenal are massive at it other teams Man United are brilliant in the box as well they're all fouled so that is a big call to make even though it's right it's a big call to make within that game at that moment in time that's the thing that everyone people are moaning aren't they because Arsenal have done it all year they've done it legally though well no technically they're not have they technically they're not because most of those decisions that went their way were fouls if you're looking at that VAR thing they have been in a lot of stuff especially with the set pieces grabbing people wrestling them and all the rest of it it's not been consistent a precedent's been set early doors and VAR now have gone to the most argument you could arguably say the most biggest game for this Premier League season so far massive and have decided on that to give it.

14:56Now, two weeks earlier, that happened seven and eight times in a game. Yeah. So I do think it's a foul and it's a right decision but the fact of the matter is they let so much go. It's just get rid of that. It's just rubbish. The thing is, we're disregarding referees. There's no point in having them. They won't make a decision. Now, if he's made that decision yesterday on field and he's clearly see what's happening, if he thinks that's all right then, then just leave it. Yeah, because the ref gave it at first. He blew it. He said, like, it's a goal didn't it he gave the goal so they're not refereeing games they're frightened to death to do it and just relying on that TV coverage to pick something up that they might have missed and I'm sick to death of it because every single goal somebody's looking for something to disallow it for and you're always going to find a little bit of something I love the game you two have played it and I don't think whether you've played it or you're a fan I've not really heard anyone saying oh it's great VAR so do you think it's staying because it's like a financial thing there's obviously something why it's staying because if the people who run it are listening to everyone everyone's going get rid of it so it's got to be a reason to stay I think the gold line technology and the offside I think apart from that I don't like it when it's like oh he's a little tall just a bit that's too much I know I don't but factually you are offside are you yeah but is it Wenger has tried to get something in I like that do you know it's a bit more like it's better for the liners it's better for the ref it'll still be controversial yeah but that sometimes though that's what makes football brilliant when you're arguing about it in the pub after it whether it goes you or you it doesn't when it's your team no I know it doesn't it happened with us with Salford did a week and the penalty that should have been had should have got promotion shirt straight away so there is parts of it that you think oh that's a ridiculous get the VAR but I think the VAR kills themselves because they're getting too involved if they just keep a distance and go right well there's a real bad decision here we're going to have to step in but they step in on every single decision so the football doesn't flow no more you can't even celebrate no more just making referees nervous Rex not so much nervous Rex but just too careful why did it take the refs well it took VAR about four minutes then they asked the ref to go over I have no idea that's why I said 17 replays it just said on the radio you can see that straight away yeah well I saw it once this morning I thought can I answer a foul what's everyone because they'll come back on the radio and everyone's saying no it's not a foul it's a foul it should be a goal it's all right once it's what that's a foul it's a foul 100 % however people's clouded the judgment because of what's gone on previously and that's what VAR's messed the whole play the whole football up at the minute so and no one can sit at that with the normal eyes and go forget what's been going on previously that is a foul but because what goes on previously everyone's going well it's not a foul because last week he did it last week he did it the week before that he did it so it's crazy the point you make about it's cost might cost some relegation well what about the lad who missed the chance clean three five yards out as he cost some relegation as well I don't say I've heard people say it's a save like Ortega's for City last year no no this was a miss a big miss it was a massive miss that keeper should never have a chance to save that but do you know what I liked about the save did it with his feet I liked seeing no see ya that's not his feet that's his calf well fucking hell fucking Jesus Christ how big's his feet Has he got wellies on?

18:23Can we get VAR in here? You just said it's top of his leg. Has he got wellies on? What fucking biology class did you take at school? You said yes, it's his feet. It hit him right there on his kneecap. Wait a minute, don't fucking... Don't try to get out of there. You didn't point there. Well, I couldn't get down. I'm fucking 52. I can't get straight down like that. You pulled your calf. I had to have a warm up and get straight on. Jesus. Can you believe he's pulling me up on that one, which I'm just saying. Yeah, because your feet are at the bottom of your leg, don't they? Yeah, but you know what?

18:50You say it's a mess. You're right. time there's no two ways about it but you should never give the keeper a chance to save that no but the point is he did give the and the keeper did save it he could have still scored great save was it what it's just that's that saves one title that saves one of the title it hasn't has it bollocks well of course it has because if it has scored there might be other saves there's loads of there's like 36 games and as well no one's talking about the bullet header he's got down and saved that with his hands should have caught that should have caught it fucking hell honestly you've never been in the next stuff you come out with how are you catching that it's a fucking bullet header he's had to go full stretch he's made a meal of it he's made a meal of it great header wasn't it great idea made a meal of it I think you know we'll get back to this but when they talk about player of the season he's got to be a contender aren't he Rhea I know I'm a bit biased with goalkeepers I think you're right but only because there's no one standing out everyone's pointing at Bruno because he's been so brilliant for Man United but I think it's always got to come from a team that's won something mate I really do I'd have probably gone for Gabriel oh right oh yeah yeah I could get on board with that I think he's been probably Arsenal's best player like Nicky said I don't think anybody for any even for City other than Bernal Silva really now and again none of them have really stood out people are saying Declan Rice brilliant player but I don't think he's been done enough to get player of this season but what Nicky said and listen there's no getting around Bruno's been fantastic this season what United have done and now Champions League spot and all the rest of it great but your team's winning the league at Arsenal you've got to start looking at them haven't you to pick that you know me when the treble not my United player won it so it was Ginola won the player of the year we won the treble Dwight York was ridiculous Roy Keane was brilliant scores he was amazing Giggs is scoring and they went and give it do you remember I think that is sometimes a bit of sour grace it's ridiculous a bit of sour grace they won everything fuck them do you remember Scott Parker he won it and got when the team got relegated West Ham got relegated he was brilliant don't get me wrong but it's just and it's different ones why do they give it before the end of the season does the football writers Bruno just won that hasn't he and there's one we do Bruno just won that I think probably Bruno has been the best player but I get Nicky's point as well about being in the top of the league the PFA one you used to vote for in March April you used to bring the things in a lot of them piss about piss the worst teams and stuff pick your worst team you actually literally get a ballot you get a form so hang on when they give you a form has it got every single player in the Premier League on there every position right so it's normally like a 4-4-2 so you've four defenders four midfielders two forwards oh that's how you do also you pick the names and you put a young player yeah four defenders four midfield players two forwards young player of the year player of the year who was the most where you two went oh well let's take the piss who did you put in where you went I don't think I ever took the piss but come on there was some lads who would just try and pick the mates oh they'd pick the mates like who were playing other teams really I think in the main it was honest the mate was fine yeah it was okay you couldn't vote for any of your teammates so that was obviously that one out the window and oh does it why do you think they do it before the end of the season that's always a bit of a weird one for me yeah it's strange I don't know I don't know the football right well it's only three weeks ago I think the PFA is different now isn't it I don't know PFA used to be like March April but now it's after the season it should be because you can it's right of course it is it's a bit like the Ballon d 'Or they do it after the World Cup or it's Euros don't they so you've got all the Champions League Then you've got the Euros or the World Cup.

24:12Right, this week, I want to know, lads, if you had to support a team from each of these countries, which would you choose and why? So let's start with France. PSG. PSG. Marseille. Oh, why Marseille? I love the kit. Yeah, good show. You know what I like? It's technically France. Monaco. Yeah, I was going to say that. It's not a bad one, is it? Yeah, bit of glamour. PSG. That just sums you up that, doesn't it, to be fair. fucking sums you up that Paddy sums you up how many times do we finish a podcast and go come on lads I'm off to fucking New York oh lads I'm going to Morocco come on I'm like Jesus Christ Italy Isi Milan Uday Lazio oh yeah yeah Gaza Maradona Verón Napoli that was Napoli Lazio as well no I didn't Maradona yeah say it again he still doesn't play for that fucking hell Napoli yeah Napoli idiot Mars bar Mars on the sponsor remember oh god yeah I love them old kits brilliant right Spain it's easy to go for the big ones but I went and watched I think you might have been playing actually watched Man United versus Bilbao I've had to call Bilbao it was unbelievable the atmosphere like a proper old school team so I'd say Bilbao Actually I was so glad I weren't playing When I got hammered Yeah Good club though Barcelona Yeah Barcelona Lovely kid Green there Fucking sums you up So you two are absolutely Hammering me today Germany I'm going straight away Bayern All day long Bayern I love the ground I love the fans It's just fucking amazing The ground is the best ground I've ever been to It's a great club Dortmund Yellow Wall Yeah That was Ireland's club wasn't it Yeah He's over there.

26:05And Bellingham. Although, I love Bayern Munich, it's just an obvious one, but I just, Dortmund. Turkey. That'd be Galatasaray, haven't it? Graham Souness, flag in the middle of the pitch. Graham Souness. Galatasaray. A lot of horrible when we played there, weren't they? Nasty, yeah. Horrible. Yeah, really. Horrible. Finally, Portugal. Benfica. Porto. Well, there you go. Remember, head over to thatprizeguy.core.uk for your chance to win£100 ,000 cash for just 19 pence. But the lack of consistency throughout the season with that and the amount of stuff now you see in the box on set pieces and corners were literally two arms around players.

26:54That's what gets me. So I think it was three years ago. I'm not sure it was three or four years ago. If you wasn't looking at the ball, it was a foul. Remember? And then it changed it. Big on it And now it's back to normal So they can take in a corner From over there You can actually face you Yeah not looking at all Just blow up Give a penalty Start of the season Next season Blow up your penalties That'll stop 100 % it'll stop I reckon you're right A few games in A few games in Or send it off They soon get bored of it They stop doing it It's ridiculous Isn't it It's like a defender Why would you do it You know we have got VAR You know actually Everyone's going to watch it So why pull the goalkeeper's shirt He must walk away yesterday They're thinking, I'm not going to give that.

27:33I've just pulled his shirt. Yeah, fucking won't do it, you dickhead. I think probably the reason they do it is, I know what you're saying about VAR, but because there's that much going on in and around you, he's probably just thinking, I know, but in that moment you think, I'll get away with it. You can't, there's cameras everywhere. Yeah, yeah. Also as well, if he's allowed the goal again as a neutral, no skin in the game, oh, what an end to the season this would have been. you'd have had Spurs and West Ham still at it debate on who's going to go down who's going to stay up and you'd have had City and Arsenal going right to the last game although I've got to say City-Bournemouth isn't a given No is it?

28:14No I think in a normal year going to Crystal Palace is a hard I think a lot of people have dismissed that now look I don't think Glasner it'd be his last game as well he's not going to want to roll over and have his belly tickled is there? Do you think they'll do the double? Arsenal? I can't see them being PSG. They can't beat PSG. The only way they can beat PSG is if they score early and hang on for dear life. Yeah. Look, I think they are capable of doing it but that'll be the only way to do it. They can't go toe-to-toe with them like Bayern do. Did you see Enrique's birthday party? He didn't turn up, did he?

28:49He didn't see it. He's got all the teams that go to his birthday party. Everyone turns up there and he doesn't turn up. I think that's genius. That's brilliant. I was going to say that's Paul Scholes-esque. I won't have the party in the first place, but if it did, it's a great idea, wouldn't it? Do you know throughout your life, because you do fascinate me, when you had your, like, you know, big birthdays, 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, was it just you on your own in a room? Or did you go, no, I'll have people there, I'll celebrate this? I can't really remember. The last one I remember was my 50th. Did you have people over?

29:27No, me and two lads, three lads went to watch what a 50th this is we went to Mosley we went to Mosley football club my lad was playing it was freezing middle of November we were still on the terrace 50th yeah there's about there's about 50 people no not 50 people watching the game just me me Jam Daz and Terry we had about Jam Daz and Terry yeah that's three good mate names right there and we had don't tell us why he's called Jam we don't want to know probably an incident 92 in an hotel hey that's a point we'll call you jam jam sandwiches fucking hell fucking hell fucking hell the recoil on this man how good were they though fucking hell not having jam butter do you remember at the beginning when I talked about my radio 2 show again Sundays 11 till 1 so we had we had a few cans of Peroni but I think they were like rocket fuel or something because then we went straight to the pub I think it was a game probably in bed for 8 o 'clock I don't know that was your 50th yeah I don't know what was in them cans it was something special in them cans did Jam Taz Taz Taz Taz Taz and Jam did they know it was your 50th of course they did it was their idea I think what we'll take you to Mosley you were going to come here didn't turn up I'm not fucking surprised why if I'd have gone come to Paul's schools 50 where is it Mosley it was perfect I'll pass no one scored I got married what's wrong with Mosley for a 50th a lot when Skolves I got married this was literally your invitation it was Claire obviously sent them all but we were literally in a change we went getting married in two weeks alright alright that's it that was it that was the wedding invitation oh Stag do must have been blinding down at Oldham watch a game I didn't have a stag do.

31:28It was in the season, wasn't it? Yeah. Did you not have like a stag do after the season? Like, right, come on, we've not had a stag do. What did you get for your 50th? What, present-wise? Well, I don't know about something you picked up, fucking venereal disease or something. Like, yeah, present. I wasn't capable. I can't remember, I don't know. Fucking hell. I don't know Claire would have got me some If her kids Of course she would But I don't know Sorry What do you do for your 50s You know that meme That goes around It goes Moments later That's what Fuck is that Isn't it Moments later A few moments later What do you do I don't know It is with you lads But you know You have Mates But certain mates Don't mix with other mates so I did a few different do's so I went golfing with one group of lads from Bolton Portugal I think I did another small group of lads is that from On the Beach?

32:38I think it was before On the Beach it came on the scene yeah, Villamora lovely and that Oceania course oh it's fantastic it's gorgeous went there, pricey though and then another group of lads we went when did you pay for something hey you missed it this morning fucking hell like we're out there Kevin Nolan Sam Allardyce oh lads I'm talking to him all of a sudden he walks over I've got your coffee I nearly fucking collapsed he's a cheeky bastard no he's very generous come on he's very generous I'll tell you what I'll tell you what I feel like I feel like we're all very generous I'll tell you what I go to the till he starts doing the moonwalk like Michael Jackson back to the floor thinking I'll let him pay for it there like that literally and when you can get here Paddy you're paid now by the way have you seen that film Michael Jackson film is it good Carl said it's unbelievable unbelievable what's it called Michael Jackson no is it just called Michael Jackson it's called Michael Michael yeah Michael is it a belter oh it's brilliant it's his nephew is it honestly it's an absolute double here we go it's longer than half an hour so you've got no chance tension spans I watched over three days what's your limit on a film?

33:55hour and a half you're screwed you have that point though but you know what's good about it it's like nostalgic it's brilliant the music you sing it's really good Ruben's like 18 still enjoyed it 19 loved it do you know what I think is good about films like that because of those songs he's done like absolute classics you go oh that's how it got written that's how it came about I had a debate You see your day in the pub and it's like, so I was at the Reuben who's gone to me, he said to me, was he the most famous man that's ever lived? I'm like 100 % the most famous man that's ever lived. And some blokes are going, no.

34:31And I'm going, I'm telling you now. No, no. Elvis. Yes. Well, different eras will say different things. So my grandparents might say Elvis. However, my era, Michael Jackson was famous. And don't forget, you look at Taylor Swift and all that. They're famous with social media that's massive now. Michael Jackson was the most famous man on the planet. He's got a point. media and nothing he was and forget all what apparently he'd been up to or not been up to but just purely the fact of a superstar he was the superstar of all time I think he's got a good point with that because what I would say like were you saying about Taylor Swift I don't know how the fuck we've got onto this subject but I'll go with it I think even Taylor Swift fans will have heard of Jackson but they might not have heard of Elvis yeah sorry I just thought of something else he's not going to say fucking marmalade sandwiches is is he fish finger butter with mushy peas and ketchup salt vinegar I mean I'm starving now gotta be honest but I'm telling you so most famous man then you put it who is he super star man obviously how's he still talking about fucking sandwiches go with Michael Jackson I'm telling you most famous person well alright then superstar I'll see you Michael Jackson just for the chat and I'll raise you a Paul McCartney no not Michael what the fucking Beatles yeah I'm not saying not big but not as big as Michael Jackson never in a million years he's just a Beatle isn't he never in a million years he's a Beatle by the way you could say yeah well all the Beatles are the fucking Beatles aren't they Michael Jackson bought all the rights to the music didn't they and sold it back that's how big Paul McCartney is Michael Jackson's bought so he could be number one he bought it for like 70 million and sold it for 700 million fair play to him yeah and who did he do a duet with who Michael Jackson Paul McCartney thank you did I hey that's her famous Paul McCartney Paul McCartney I once shook Paul McCartney's hand oh what a treat because you just go that's a beetle do you know what I mean one of the funniest things I've ever seen was him I tell you his story all the time before I knew him I went back I met him at soccer and then I went back and told this story but it was fucking the funniest thing I've ever seen I'm going to have to say I'm sorry Paddy oh for fuck's sake and Catherine what's she called Catherine no the singer oh Catherine Jenkins Catherine Jenkins she was in there right and she was going out with Geffen weren't she hang on where's this fucking going he goes keep mail online speed dial he goes hi Catherine he goes like this shakes her hand and she turns around and he goes no I didn't do that no I didn't do that I didn't do that I didn't do that I didn't do that I think you would Catherine I didn't do that I didn't do that I'll tell you what actually happened I'll tell you what I'll tell you what happened it changes it we all went to the Bluebird on Kings is it Kings Road Chelsea that place oh fantastic is that a pub oh brilliant pub so we're in there and it's like a you know a lovely daytime drink yeah I love it some were out it was me Nicky Joe Calzaghi Robbo Giggsie who else were there there were a few of us there Johnny Wilkes there were a few of us weren't there good crowd good drinking crowd Gethin were there and then it came about I didn't realise that Gethin was going out with Catherine Jenkins and I'm going what how's this happened like like you just I wouldn't well they're both Welsh so that might be a thing where they've met at something like that but I was like bloody hell that's a surprise because I'm like going Catherine Jenkins oh talented but absolutely gorgeous and she she turned up she turned up but we'd had we'd had a few bottles and we'd had a few she'd come like not on the good time really you know you're like oh this is you got a bit brave oh I got a bit brave so what happened I went and we hugged but I kept the hug going a little bit all in good jest nothing pervy you're not going all in good jest and I was looking at Gethin going hey hey and she was a good sport there was no smell in me fucking hands or anything like that no I went to the talk to me top I might have got it wrong a little bit I might have been slightly exaggerated imagine that nice to meet you she'd have gone fuck this I'm out of here she did she did yeah she fucked well I'd have been sniffing it more aren't sausages and bacon I just had covered in fucking red and brown sauce of him inside of me what were we even talking about then Jesus Christ hang on right What was interesting about when he put Declan Rice at right back?

39:23You know, sometimes when you're watching a game and you see a player and they're clearly not happy about it, he kind of just got on with it. I remember Roy Keane. Roy Keane played at right back for probably two-thirds of a season. He had a hernia. He played at the hernia. Because United are Brian Robson and Paulins. So Roy, probably his first year, first couple. I don't know, but he played loads at right back and he was brilliant. Declan Rice looks like he'd suit being a right back to me he's not going to create he's not going to do much there though is he like from when he's in midfield he's not a big creator anyway is he no but he's more effective in midfield what was he like when he went to right back then alright but not anything not anything major it wasn't bad no but at that time that's when West Ham come into the game so it was a bit of like a big massive hole in the middle yeah well no shit it happens with United doesn't it every week as a West Ham player because obviously the VAR is the big talking point but if you're on the and your team mate especially that second one where he's took that touch and what have you do you say out to him after or no he's not been on purpose has he but it's just what's the letter he missed a chance no no just let it go that's where you that separates the top players from the the okay players you know the top players in the big games they go and score that and they go and win the leagues and win the cups you'd definitely be having to think so looking at thoughts looking at fuck have you missed that you wouldn't say that but you'd think to some people might Pete who was on the day would have said you need to take chances really?

40:53do you remember last week about when I first got into the team I missed a chance the next three weeks he was fucking telling me every day because it was a big drill of the game did he tell you during the game as well or did he say out to you? no I think you were a bit more sensitive during the game right so he's just training after going right ok every time he saw me in the corridor fuck did you miss that and I think as well that's pretty much sealed the fate I know there's a couple of games left yeah it looks like it yeah I can't see deserving letting that go Spurs tonight Spurs Spurs Leeds tonight Leeds Leeds have nothing to play for now they're set you say that though but your pride does kick in when you play a game and also as well is there a thing as a player where you go I know that your team's nothing to play for but if you go oh it could stop them winning or it could stop are you going to try harder definitely yeah and some people will hate teams they'll go I fucking hate these and you really but when you get into the mindset of a game you start like that but after 5-10 minutes you're in you've got yourself pride you want to win I don't know anybody that I play with that will just go I'm going to toss this off no chance no chance and do you think as well at the end of the season and it's looking like Arsenal are going to win the league even though there's games left Gehi's mistake do you think that will be ever talked about again because obviously the Stevie Gerrard one in was it 2014 that or something where he slips that's massive yeah I think that's massive because of the player that did it the profile of the player that did it and the game I think that's why it was so big I don't think it's any worse than the game it was just the fact that it was Steven Gerrard and it was Liverpool who had been trying to get the title for so long I think that's why it was so big the game is a big mistake it is a big mistake a great player as well as is Stevie G yeah but a slips it's not a mistake a slip's just a fucking bit of bad luck it's like John Terry with the penalty John Terry could have took a penalty 50 times and not slip once Steven Gerrard could go and detect the ball to the right and not slip once in 50 times Gay could do that pass a thousand times and never do it but I do think that mistake purely down to the mistake was miles worse than Gerrard's but Gerrard's profile and the fact that Liverpool, such a big football club that got to get the title for the first time in so many years, I think that's why it was highlighted so much.

43:22And as well, with all this controversy aside, you know, City, they drew when everyone was saying they'll win every game. You know what I mean? So, if they'd have won, we'd have still been going to the end of the season, wouldn't we? But it is looking like now... We are still going to. At this point as it stands now, we're still going to the end of the season, aren't we? Like I'm saying, it might change in another week it's not a foregone conclusion against Bournemouth and all that's not an easy game Bournemouth's the big one for a minute something will happen it's not as easy as a start something will happen conspiracy theory again Burnley Kyle Walker obviously City he'll be wanting doing them a favour won't he yeah but Arsenal are going to win that aren't they the only half dodgy one is the Palace one and you won't if Palace play the full team that is not an easy not an easy place to go that's not an easy game but are they going to play a full team when they've got the big European final Wednesday and City next week go to Bournemouth after the FA Cup final that'll be and Bournemouth are going to want that sixth by the way this sixth spot you know extra Champions League Europa League it's hard not to qualify for the Champions League it's pissing off it's like it's been a shine off it it is what it says it is a Champions a league of champions of their countries and you might put the second in to make it a bigger competition or a third but now it's what sixth yeah Villa win is that right Villa win and they win the Champions Europa then the 6-1 comes in yeah too many teams that isn't it it's just a money thing this isn't it it's coming as we said before it's a Super League it's just a different way of doing it right chaps ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Final this weekend Mitre oh they've looked after us today they've sent us these the Ultimax Pro FA Cup Final best day of year when it comes to Mitre Whether you've played at the level you two have played, professionals or rolling around on a muddy park like myself back in the day, we've all used them, haven't we?

45:23That's a great thing, that. They've been playing all the way through the FA Cup, right from the start with that ball. Yeah. Bit of heritage. Fantastic ball. Love it. Bit of heritage. Love that. Over 200 years old and still going strong. Basically, it's a brand for proper football people. Real football people. Real football people. Whatever your standard, Mitre's range is a different league. Just leaving the Premier League and VAR and all that aside a minute it's kicking off a bit over in Europe Real Madrid now I've not been across this can you what's happened these players fighting you talked about a fight aren't you who was it they were saying something happened on the training pitch one day with Valverde and Ciomini they went the day after look at that I don't know how true it is I just what I've read they went one of them went to shake the other one's hand and the other one told him to get lost, and then they've gone in the training room, and it's all kicked off.

46:46One of them's apparently fell, or they said they fell, and he's got a concussion of Valverde, who's like split his head open, and some have gone to hospital, he's out for two weeks. Bloody hell. And they've had like a massive fight, haven't they? So they've also had a fight in the dressing room. I think he actually, Valverde released a statement, didn't he, saying they hadn't fought, they weren't punching each other, but they clearly were. Real Madrid's a mess, isn't it? The club's in an absolute turmoil. I read something, it might be on here, something like is it 40 million fans have signed a petition Mbappe to get rid of Mbappe I mean what's he done wrong he's just not he's just not tucked to the club has he he's not tucked to the fact that they're not winning anything for two years he's scored a load of goals PSG are now flying without him he's been pitched on hold of his girlfriend when he's injured while he's supposed to be injured while he's supposed to be injured well I'm pissed people are rumoured where they're going best to win they're getting beat look as they're winning he goes on hold of his missus for two three days they've got a day off it's not an issue it's because he's been injured but yeah it's a mess and I think if you look at the they're not happy with the manager over there I think they need a big name in back in again who can settle it down and become the boss and take no shit basically because there's a lot of you'd imagine there's a lot of egos within that changing room that are just running away with themselves so Mourinho has been spoken about going in I think he'd be one that would just go in and go this is how we're doing it no more messing about if you don't like it leave you know what you were saying about Mbappe and he scored loads of goals but the fans aren't having him because of the holiday and all the rest of it.

48:10I think football fans have short memories if Mourinho comes in and gets Mbappe at it. Yeah. I think that 40 million signatures to get him out will be like, no, keep him in. Mbappe is at it. Mbappe, I don't know how many goals he scored, but he scored a bloody lot of goals. Yeah. I don't think Mbappe is the issue. Do you think it's just a Real Madrid thing? them fans are quiet. Real Madrid expect to win. the best player, aren't they? They always expect to win and if they don't win, I think the president He went in the changing rooms didn't he after the last game this isn't happening ever again there's going to be changes I mean he's not won it for two years he's got no divine right to go and win it but he's got no divine right to go and win it they've got other big football clubs in that league that are better than him Atletico Madrid not so much this year but in the last four or five years they've been fantastic Barcelona's won it by 13 points now last night you've seen Marcus's goal last night yeah great goal won't it do you see what he said brilliant free cut he said he weren't going to shoot he said he was going to cross it well it looked like I was watching thinking for ages he said I was going to cross it and the lads are saying shoot shoot shoot he's put it but the way he's done it he's bent it it was the hardest angle to score remember David Beckham's free kick it it's like that it's like that bending away from the goal that's the hardest one and it's saying a lot of players you were saying have fallen out with the manager at Real Madrid well the manager is the first person if the manager is not a big ego sorry he's not a big character and they've got a lot of egos in that dressing ring the first people are going to blame the manager it's an easy get out of the players He's still got that authority to go to a club.

49:38Probably has. I think there's a certain amount. He loved him when he worked at United, didn't he? he got a lot of bad press at United and a lot of people didn't like him. I thought he was brilliant. He finished second though, didn't he? And he won the Europa League. Europa League. And you knew. And we got brought up with, argued with the best manager of all time. Yeah. But that's not what makes Alex great. It's not what makes Pep great. It's not. What I think makes a manager great is when they walk into a room they demand the attention of the players their authority their presence Mourinho had that I don't care who and he had big characters in that just when we had Zlatan Pogba a lot of big big players and the question is he's still got it he's not done anything for a long time has he really at the top level but when I was there with him I can only say from my own eyes he was authoritatively he was a figure that knew he was in charge but not only that he was not one of these minds that goes oh your coach you do the coach he was on it he was in his office with glasses with all his pens half seven putting all his training schedule together and he was on and he was brilliant if I was in the dressing room now and someone like him came up you'd stand up you stand up here yeah you know his presence about him but looking at that what's a magic what's a call that a real manager one now Abelola don't know the guy I'm sure he's obviously very capable but he doesn't he doesn't put any fear into you know I can't want you walking in I'm walking in a Mourinho walking I saw Alex it's a Klopp.

51:01These are characters that I carry for big football clubs. Klopp there's an interesting one. Yeah, maybe a Klopp. But I think they need someone like that with a presence because there is a lot of egos in them big clubs. There is. And I get... No bigger than Jose. No. But you have to have that kind of thing, I think, when you imagine them football players. But do you know what you were saying about him in the morning? He's got, you know, he's working and you see that. Ego aside, as a player, do you look at that and go, do you know what? He's putting a shift in. Honestly. I am. because he could just swan in the only thing the only thing that I could agree with a certain bad press he got was that he didn't buy into the community he didn't live here he was always in a hotel but that's his choice you know he had problems I think his dad was poorly yeah my dad wasn't well but I'll tell you honestly Paddy he was in there at half seven in the morning and he was there till seven at night and I was there quite a bit at night time looking at doing the academy work so I seen it in my own eyes so no one could say it wasn't true because it was true he was there and he works his nuts off at that football club.

52:01Why did they get rid of him? I think he goes again. I think some people don't like the fact that they work. It's a bit like the Michael Carrick one now at Man United. Do the people that are going to pick this next manager, are they wanting to go on, challenge a manager every single day and get crap off a manager every day? Because it's draining. Or are you going to want someone who's going to go, you're the coach of the football club, all the other stuff we're going to take control of. That's what football is going like now. That's the argument that Amarin had with the powers that beat Man United.

52:28but Mourinho goes and he'll want to control absolutely everything and he wanted to do that at Man United and I think that's why they ended up getting rid of him because he wanted wanted wanted wanted more more more more he was never happy Is he going to be able to control everything at Real Madrid though? What manager can do that? I think he will the president loved him didn't he? I know that Perez what's he called Perez? What was the circumstances when he left the first time then? Left Real Madrid? Yeah I think they just shook hands and he moved out I don't think it was a fallout. So it wasn't anything like...

52:59No. I think Florentino Perez, I think he absolutely idolises Mourinho. If you get Mourinho, you know it's not going to last more than two or three years maximum. He's never been anywhere more than two or three years. Them players at Real Madrid seem to have a lot of power, don't they? Yeah. They can get rid of anybody. And you get sacked at football clubs, it's not players, isn't it? He'd never go back to United, would he? Would you have him back? He's a winner. I think a lot of it would have been style of players. well it probably wasn't so much you know with Mourinho got brought into Man United to get us back to winning ways and get us what he did it and then he moved on so if you might have in my opinion he's ticked the box and he's done a job that he got to come and do in yeah but the background of it is he was a lot better for the football club than people give him credit for he was great with the academy he was great with younger players he was brilliant with the coaches is his team good who he brings with him he had a lot of staff with him which too much maybe too much but they were all really good people yeah they were nice they were engaging now I can only take him as I find him they might have been not with other people but with me and the staff that I worked with he was he was brilliant can you have two bigger backroom staff sometimes yeah I think so I mean what's the optimal number well when we were we first played you had the manager your brain kid at the physio three three people and then you don't master maybe Jimmy yeah and after that you'd have one more coaches come in like a Jim Ryan and come in and it was never that I think the problem with too many staff is there's too many people for players to moan to yeah yeah because players will always find someone to moan about and too many cooks spoil the broth as well sometimes I think so yeah it's funny we watch games now and you look at the bench where the manager's sat there's like about six or seven people there's more staff than players yeah now they need two team buses one for staff one for players you go on a pitch you go on a warm up now I'm telling you now you look at the track suits for the coaches there'll be as many as the players no you go and watch a game at Old Trafford they have three goalkeeper coaches on a pitch bloody hell don't they yeah it's unbelievable that's the modern game now it seems then isn't it really before we because we we might have to wrap up soon lads any more sandwiches FA Cup yeah Chelsea do you think they'll win it they've got a chance yeah of course they'll have anything wrapping the FA Cup Chelsea on the day I've got a team of good players you don't know and I think it's like City going for the league they play on Wednesday they'll definitely be thinking about but if they win on Wednesday which you'd expect them to I don't think it's right that they should be playing on Wednesday before the FA Cup final especially when Chelsea aren't I think that's wrong yeah now look there's obviously reasons for it with Champions League and what have you and fixtures getting in the way I just I don't like the thought of it and also playing next is it Tuesday or Wednesday against Bournemouth I just don't I don't City is right yeah but that's what it is you've done the win easy I'm not sure they will I think City will have more impetus to win it because of the draw the other week and Arsenal getting that result against West Ham everyone's sort of saying it's looking like they're a shooting so Pep might be thinking well that's the only chance of a trophy City should win it and the only thing like I said Chelsea have got some very good players and they could win it but do you not think the wheels have come off a bit there though Of course they have It's a mess of a club But when you go FA Cup final is different Do you think it could be Pep's last game?

56:28Not last game Have they played the Tuesday Last game to win something You know I thought about Early in the season But the more and more I'm watching No I don't think I think he's going to stay I don't know why I think I've said on air Before that I think he's going But these last couple of weeks I think he wants to A hard thing What managers do A manager who's been At the top for so long He's rebuilding teams Yeah And he's still set it look like about six, seven, eight players who haven't won the league. He's rebuilding a team. Will he just be tempted to see the finish of a rebuild of this team, which would mean winning the league?

57:03Now, look, I don't like they're going to win the league. If they won the league, then yeah, I'd probably expect him to go. But I think he might stay another year or two to get this team to win the league. Because he's surprised how well they've done the last second half of the season. So you think I might have a chance next year to go out on it. I don't think he was expecting especially before Christmas they were struggling this is music to City's fans ears this isn't it really it's not based on anything I'm just guessing no no no I think you've got a point though I wouldn't surprise you I think they'll win the FA Cup and I think you'll go I do I just have a real feeling Arsenal win the league City FA Cup PSG Champions League Villa I think if he does go sorry but I think if he does go I think they'll bring Marascar in do you know that thing where his name has been bandied about with City for quite a while do you think that's the right call like a club as big as I'm not saying Maric is not a good manager he is a good manager of course you've seen the way Chelsea have folded since he left yeah he's worked at City he's worked with Pep who replaces Pep it's almost like replacing Sir Alex how do you do it there's nobody who's ever going to be as good no I like what I saw at first I thought it was a big mistake going from Leicester to Chelsea I didn't see where Chelsea got that from but I actually think he did alright with what he had I think if Munich would have got to the final or won the final I think Kompany could have jumped ship after that he's got a job to do there now but Kompany I could see them throwing that much money at Kompany that he could go and do it do you think if Arsenal win the league where you were just saying about Pep Mike getting you know the squad know it's gelling you go I've got a chance next season do you not think Arsenal if they do win the league which is looking like they are will not just kick on then and sort of dominate for a couple of years there's a chance but looking at this Arsenal team now it doesn't look like it I said this last week look I'm not looking at this Arsenal team and thinking in 10 years time I'll look back and say that was a great Arsenal team now look they're going to win the league and they're going to do it their way which hasn't been the most fluent of ways and I'm trying to think when you think of the great Arsenal teams your Villiers your Henry's at the time did you think they were great you probably did now watching these I'm not looking at them thinking I'm going to be talking about these Do you not see what Ian Wright said though he said if they win the league and the Champions League he puts that team no above the Invincibles you'd have to because of what they've won but on the eye are they better to watch than the Invincibles no chance no no chance and the Invincibles would have beat this team right before we wrap things up wrap is that a sandwich it's in bread isn't it what about tuna what about tuna sandwich fucking hell tuna sandwich is nice it's definitely a wrap oh tuna sandwich just like you're saying hey lads what about tuna I'm like what about it something happened in the world of tuna a sandwich for me is two pieces of bread like that sandwich the centre of it that's why it's called a sandwich whether it's a barbecue a barbecue called a sandwich not a wrap yeah you're right but I've got to say he's right eh just looked at both and said yeah you're right he was right obviously me well you never said you never said about sandwich you just said tuna you went hey lads tuna alright well you've been making sandwiches for an hour and a half so I just thought I didn't think I'd be doing sandwiches for an hour and a half you You keep bringing them back up.

1:00:45I fucking left sandwiches at the beginning of the podcast and you're still going for it. Marmite, I'm hungry. No, no, no, no. I'm a bit peckish now. I'm a bit peckish now. Have you ever just had like a brown sauce or a red sauce sandwich? No. No, but I have had salad cream butties when I was a kid. They're good. That's weird. But red and brown sauce sandwiches isn't weird. Very normal. In Langley, that was very normal. In Langley. I'm telling you, if anyone's watching, I'm going to set up a GoFundMe we're making a Paul Scholes film I forgot about I just remembered two more go on almost three more really fuck me here we go Dairy League alright let's let him get it all out chicken, beef or salmon paste oh I love a beef paste sandwich potted beef little part of oh yeah they still do them they don't taste the grape but you've got like butter yeah butter and then the paste on Yeah but the trouble is with the butter it almost overtakes the paste doesn't it No you've got to pile the paste on you've almost got to use the full jar just to get over the butter Do you not remember back in the day toast toppers No Little tins Heinz so you'd undo it spread it on your bread so it'd be like cheese and ham or whatever and then you'd grill them Toast toppers No but what is it though Eh What do you mean what is it What do you mean You spread cheese and ham No Or your tin would have cheese and ham in the sauce, like bits of cheese, yeah, mixed up, and you'd spread it.

1:02:18Oh, no, but when you spread it, you put it on the toaster. I don't know if this will do a toast topper. I've never heard of that. Yeah. But wait a minute, cheese and ham toasties, and you go on holiday. It's a toastie. It's a toastie. It's not a sandwich, is it? It's a toasted sandwich. Well, no, a toasted sandwich is two slices of bread toasted with bacon in the middle. It's getting weird, this. No, no. It's getting weirder. No, a toast is sealed up. A toasted sandwich isn't sealed up. It's open, isn't it? And also, just while we're saying this, now you've got me at it, I can't be doing with open-faced sandwiches in restaurants.

1:02:53Fuck off. It's like when you order a pie and there's no one underneath. It's just a lid on top. An open sandwich. I've never heard open-faced. Open-faced sandwiches. They're called open-faced sandwiches. Just an open sandwich. Come on, Nicky, please. Just an open sandwich, innit? I've tried to help you all the time, but I can't. They're called an open-faced sandwich. Open sandwich. Alright then, a normal sandwich, but it's not a sandwich, is it? It's just a bit of bread with some on top. You shouldn't have to eat a sandwich with a knife and fork, should you? Exactly. This is why you can't have a chip balm with gravy, although it is lovely.

1:03:19You get your chip balm dry and a tub of gravy and dip it in. No, just a little bit of gravy drip on you and wipe your hands with the kitchen top. And while you're just mine with the chippy, I've got to say, greatest sausage on earth is the chippy sausage. Oh no. Dirty, dirty, dirty. Yeah, but it's got to be well done, isn't it? Deep fried sausage. The battered one? What about a battered sausage? No, no. As you go downstairs, they start pulling out these savillars. I'm like, Jesus Christ, what are you on down here? They've got to be well done though, haven't they? Eh? You've got to be able, it's got to have a bit of succulent.

1:03:52we always go to the Chinese, don't we, and have a sausage while you're waiting for your actual food. I like to dip it in the Chinese curry. Get a little dip. Like an adult. Why are you waiting for your chippy though? Eh? Why are you waiting for your chippy though? well that's what you just said you know I just eat the sausages I don't piss about with the curry and stuff fucking hell let's wrap it up let's honestly sometimes I'll be thinking about some of the stuff he said tonight he's been argumentative today I'm sorry Paddy he's got them on him today I could tell when he come in and all some days you go he's got them on him today and he was late he was late yeah sorry what time do we have to be there quarter to quarter to ten 47 oh no no yeah it was 47 47 I actually I was thinking about stopping and getting us a coffee but I didn't know if you was there we're coming to end of season not bought one coffee I think I'm I'm top of the list for coffee buying I'm always treating you aren't I I mean you do you do put your expenses in at the end of the day I know what you're going to say we're still waiting for him to bring this aloe stuff in that was the big that was very nice thank you Paul that was very nice what happened to your big hey lads I'm bringing you I'm sure you text him he says that every week I know he does I'm sure you text him hey lads we're in Nike have signed us up comes in with a pair of golers in six months time what did you call that track suit he had a waffle he did he had a waffle I thought he walked in with his fucking pyjamas on at first a lot of times I was going to say he was going to have a flight weren't you it is nice go on you were going to say that's her hoodie he was looking nice nice hoodie Rhys Rhys that you can tell can't you oh yeah and I said that jacket's lovely today lovely gotta say this is a lovely jacket you're wearing seen it on a lot of pods the blue jacket any others?

On the latest episode of The Good, The Bad & The Football, the lads react to Arsenal’s controversial win over West Ham. Scholesy and Nicky can’t believe how long officials took to rule on the incident. Paul argues Arsenal have scored plenty of perfectly legal set-piece goals this season, but Nicky says the complete lack of consistency proves VAR simply has to go. Scholesy goes even further, wondering if there’s any point having referees anymore.

There’s also a big debate over Mateus Fernandes’s late chance against the Gunners. Paul insists it was a bad miss rather than a great save from David Raya, while Paddy argues that stop could end up winning Arsenal the Premier League title. The conversation then turns to player of the season contenders: is David Raya genuinely in the running and Bruno Fernandes deserve the FWA award? Nicky and Paul lift the lid on the chaos behind PFA Player of the Year voting in the past.

They also turn their attention to the crisis at Real Madrid. Is Jose Mourinho the man to return? Nicky reveals what he genuinely loved about Mourinho during his time at Manchester United, why he thinks Jose really left Old Trafford, and the one thing he could have done better. The lads also debate whether they’d welcome Mourinho back to Old Trafford one day and there’s praise too for Marcus Rashford’s stunning free-kick in El Clasico.

The boys discuss whether Chelsea have any chance against Manchester City in the FA Cup Final. Could this be Pep Guardiola’s final season at City? And if he does leave this summer, Paul reveals who he believes should replace him.

Away from football, Paddy is left horrified after Scholesy casually reveals what he did for his 50th birthday, while the lads somehow end up debating whether Michael Jackson was the most famous person on the planet. Paddy and Nicky also clash over their very different memories of meeting Katherine Jenkins and, of course, this week’s completely random debate descends into chaos over the most important issue of all: the greatest sandwich filling ever. What starts as a harmless chat quickly turns into absolute carnage…
