In short
The episode is a football rant-and-debate focused on Liverpool’s Mo Salah. The hosts argue Salah “needs to grow up” after publicly criticizing manager Arne Slot, claiming it’s childish and an exit-plan designed to force a January move (possibly to Saudi Arabia).
Key claims
Salah was dropped/benched because he wasn’t performing; clubs can’t promise every match; his “promises” comment undermines Slot; and Salah should have confronted Slot privately instead of using the media/mixed zone.
Notable examples
Salah allegedly left the mixed zone, then went on camera; the hosts compare it to past public disputes (Roy Keane on MUTV; Wayne Rooney handling a transfer unhappiness privately). They also discuss Liverpool’s poor form “from so good to so bad,” suggesting Slot is under pressure and could lose authority if Salah stays.
Guests
none are clearly identified by name in the transcript; the show is hosted by multiple former-player/pundit voices (including “Paul Scholes” mentioned as a reference, not a guest). They also pivot to Manchester United, criticizing Ruben Amorim’s tactics and arguing Kobbie Mainoo is being misused (9 Premier League sub appearances, not a starter).

1:27I don't think this manager just gets this club full stop. I just don't think he's the right man. I've never seen a team go from so good to so bad. There's nobody there who knows what United did, what it takes to be a United player, what it takes to run the club.
1:41Paddy McGuinness:If I was sat with him, I'd say, for your own sanity and career, go. Welcome to the good, the bad and the football. And if there was ever a week to talk about football, it's this one in particular Mo Salah which we're going to start on in a moment but as always I'd like to see his general knowledge at the start of these schools Test them Right Oh this will be good You know what figs are don't you Yeah Right What's in a fig What You eat a fig roll or you eat a fig What's in a fig What makes it a fig The seeds done him got him no dead wasp what no fuck off no chance what have you been getting these facts from dead wasp this is like your tea bollocks as well what was your other thing your honey I'll let it die down I'll let it die down right I'll let them I'll let them know now this is what education is about lads at school you were shouting at your fucking teachers all the time so everything in the world that's ever been grown as a wasp in it.
2:53Paddy McGuinness:Yes. Go on, let's break that. So, these particular wasps land on the fig as it's growing, go inside the fig, right, and die. The enzymes in the fig then break that wasp down. So when you bite into it, you don't see a wasp. It's totally into the actual fig, and that's what gives it sweetness. I can believe that. There you are, you see? Because that happens with whales. That happens with whales as well. Can you fucking prove this? It's a scientific thing. They've seen it. I've seen that there today. It happens with humpback whales. When they're about to die and they could be over 100 years old, they deep dive, drown themselves, and go to the bottom of the ocean.
3:39Paddy McGuinness:And it takes 100 years. It takes 100 years. Get him laughing at the whales. It takes 100 years for it to decompose. And while it's doing that, it feeds every other organism down at the bottom of the ocean. exactly it's the circle of life get Elton John on I'm telling you well there you are yes I've done all that I don't really want to be a fig roll I can't think it's actually 2-1 eh 2-1 vomit wasp yeah and what was the other one that was the other one yeah the honey what was the honey one as well no that was the the teeth no the fluoride oh he's right oh well you don't 2-1 you don't rinse 2-1 2-1 oh it's fucking done me in a bit that I thought it was 1-1.
4:19Anyhow, right, obviously, there's been a lot of chat about Mo Salah. I'm pretty sure, when, when this first come out, where he'd done this interview, I couldn't wait for Monday. I couldn't wait to get down sitting with you two, because obviously, the era you two played, and the players you played with as well, and to see something like this from Mo Salah, who wants to start, firstly, obviously he was on the bench he's been dropped by a slot he's come out and done this statement what have you got to say about it?
4:58Paddy McGuinness:Last year Mo Salah was up there with the top five in the world if we're being perfectly honest and probably a few years earlier than that he was phenomenal so to sit here as a player that I was and have a pop-up Mo Salah is very difficult his numbers, his scoring record, his assists is phenomenal in the Premier League but I wasn't surprised when he came out like this because the last time he came out was last season and was all around his contract. So it seems that when he wants to drop a grenade, he does it at the point when you're thinking, why are you doing that? So he hasn't played the last three games, he said, didn't he?
5:32Paddy McGuinness:He could have been on the bench, not come on. He's not been playing that well to play every single game anyway. So I'll stick up for the manager on that slot. But to come out and say that the club's letting down on promises, I'd like to know what the promises are because no club on the planet can say to you, Paul Sculls sign this contract Paul and we promise you that you'll play every game if you're playing below your level and not at the level of the mind you want you to play at they're going to get dropped they're going to get put on the bench no matter who you are you might get a bit of grace for a certain amount of times but that comes in trouble with looking at the results and they need to do something drastic now a lot of Liverpool fans might come on here and start saying what is he doing talking about Liverpool don't know much about it he's not watched it he's one of our best players of the last 10-20 years but I've heard ex-Liverpool greats like Gerard Carragher, Fowler, all these players, not have a poppet at Salah, but have the feelings made because it's their club, it's a club they love.
6:27Paddy McGuinness:And I agree with him. You can't come out and say what he's said unless you're after a move in January. So that's why I think it's looking like it's looking like he's going to be gone in January. And saying he's no relationship with Slough whatsoever. Yeah, look, he needs to grow up and he's acting like a baby. He's been left out. as Nicky said he's been one of the best players and he is an unbelievable player but he's not playing well enough to get in the team so he's been left out so as Nicky said he's heard it publicly which is wrong if you've got a problem with a manager go and see your manager and Nicky's right he's trying to force his exit out of the club now he's pre-empted 100 % from what I got told he left the mixed zone and got asked to do an interview yeah and he never does that he never does that he never does that so he said yeah unless the time about his conference unless it's right from Osala so he's left the mixed zone he's gone for a shower come back to the mixed zone and said what he said so it's not even like you see people don't you they come off the pitch just for anyone watching what is the mixed zone it's where all of the press waits so it's like you walk past the game world's press yeah you see it at a World Cup or something you see all the England players going past it only used to happen really for European games I think they probably started doing it for league games you have to walk out of that way past them but it's up to you if you don't say yes or no you can choose to walk past them if you want But I understand when someone goes on the camera and it's been a bad game, and they're a bit irate, and you see managers say things, and your players say things, and you go off, I've done it myself, and you go, what did I say that for?
7:55Paddy McGuinness:I've made myself look a right dick, or whatever. But he's had probably half an hour to go into the changing rooms, get showered, get changed, and get back out. Oh, he's planned that. He's pretty empty, he knows exactly what he's doing. He's on the bench, and it's sad. He's not exactly what he's doing. It's sad, and it doesn't bother me, because I'm not a Liverpool fan, but if I was a Liverpool fan, That's the thing for me, when I've seen what he said and the reaction to it, I kind of thought, and again, I'm not a Liverpool fan, but I thought, he's one of them players most. I love watching him play.
8:24We all do. Yeah, and I like him. You just think, oh, why have you done that? If he'd gone into the manager's office Monday morning,
8:31Paddy McGuinness:knocked on door and had it completely out with him, told him everything that he thinks of him, then you're naturally going to get moved on anyway. But to come out and do it on the press, in front of all your fans and all your teammates, Scorchers hit the nail around the head it's childish behaviour what you've done and also as well if you've been one of the best players and won it all with them almost let the fans do that for you you're getting put on the bench let the fans have a go at the manager the one thing Paddy as well you talk about his relationship has gone a bit with every time you get left out you hate your manager until the next time you play you don't look at him you don't you won't walk past him you just blank him because I want to fucking play but you go and knock on the door Scorchers don't you I know you've done it plenty of times I've done it you go and knock on a door and if you want to get out there you can say something to a manager behind closed doors that will naturally get you moved on now I'm not saying that's the right thing to do if he wants to move that much you go and say a few certain words to the manager and you're gone anyway so I just think he's done it he's just made it public he's trying to belittle the manager basically what he's done and if Liverpool backed the player instead of the manager that's a disaster he's just started his exit plan that's all he's done do you think I don't know what age he's at Morsella he's not young but he's not 34-ish Yeah, but he's not kind of like too old yet.
9:45Do you think, as players, do you kind of, are you always trying to shift the blame? You know, deep down psychologically, you're kind of thinking you're just a little bit a fraction off the base. Yeah, some do, but some can't accept it. That's what I mean. So he's blaming everyone else. Yeah, you start blaming it. Well, it's easy to blame it. Because I think when you get to 34, 35, you know. Well, some people do. there are some players like probably the very best players you think they should never ever be left out of a team I would have thought Cristiano would probably be the same at 38 years you cannot leave me out of this team most others like that but people like me Nick you understand
10:24Paddy McGuinness:no I did it I let myself down I spoke to it when Bruce was on I did it at Birmingham let myself down I blamed everybody else basically I was playing shit I wasn't fit and I blamed other people rather than looking at myself and I realised that at like 33 33 I did it at Newcastle I blamed a few managers instead of looking at myself. And hopefully he'll look at that interview and he'll sit down. Maybe it might not be next week. It might be in six months' time. And I just hope, for his sake, that he's not ruined his legacy at Liverpool through doing what he's doing because you'll get to 40. We're older than that.
10:56Paddy McGuinness:He gets to 40, 50, and you'll think, why have I done that? Why have I done that? Because I'm telling you now, if he really wants to leave that club, there's an easy way of doing it. You go into the manager, you knock on the door, and you have it completely out of him. Tell him exactly what you think of him, and you're gone. It's an amazing time in football, though, isn't it? you think about at the end of last year he just signed a two year contract yeah that would be mega money that as well but won't be the money that he will end up getting in Saudi because I'm telling you that's his next move that's his next move 100 % oh yeah I think it is but I'm just saying Liverpool are going to want to sell him aren't they with or without him they're still not winning so that's what I think he'll go because he's paying that much money not playing not winning they're going to have to go like you said he can't sat the manager and keep the play what about his teammates when he does something like that like what you know If you're sat in the dressing room, you see one of your teammates have gone out and done an interview like that and then he comes back in and looks at you and starts chatting.
11:47Paddy McGuinness:What are you saying to him? I've never been in a training room and that's happened ever. I don't think it's that bad for other players, this one, because he's made it between him and the manager. He's not blaming other players. He's not moaning about other players. I'll try to give an example of when I was playing. I think Wayne, actually, at one point was... The City one. The City one, yeah. What was that? well he was unhappy I think he wanted to move there was a chance for him going to Man City and I think he went to see the manager and well published like this that who you're signing what we're bringing in and I think Wayne actually had to come and apologise he never actually did it on the camera or did he Wayne?
12:23no oh no he didn't do that no he did it the right way if there's the right way of doing that then he did he went to the manager and I think Gary and Ryan spoke to him and I think he eventually apologised to the players I always think it's never a good sign when a player starts speaking about himself in the third person as well during the interview he went well if you're going to throw Mo under the bus I thought oh no don't fucking start referring to yourself did he say that Mo? did he? I didn't know that I was like what the fuck's he on about I'll throw him under the bus do you know as well and I've not heard anyone say this this is just my opinion do you not think kind of all roads lead back to either his agent or people around him because he's not come out on his Todd, in my eyes, and just said that there's got to be people around him going, out of order, you're on the bench, his agent might be saying something and almost making the bullets for him.
13:19Paddy McGuinness:But ultimately, Paddy, he's an experienced player, he's one of the best in the world over the last five, six, seven years. He's leader of that team, if you like, not Liverpool, his team was in his commercial mind, his agent. He would just go, I'm not doing that. if I want to get out I'll get out of my way no but they might have done it in a like say little things they say to him and it's sort of he'll have his age in his ear he'll have his wife in his ear you should be playing I can't believe you're not playing he's got a goal that's not for me he's 34 35 years of age he's not a fucking kid he's not 19 20 yeah what are these promises as well you can't get promises like that you can't get promises to play every single game we promise you that you'll be starting at the start of the season but if you're not up to the level or you're playing badly you'll be dropped like everybody else Well, also as well, if you signed that two-year deal like you did, and I don't know the exact figure, but reportedly up to£400 ,000 a week, surely that says to you, if you're an owner of a club, we want him to play every week.
14:16We're giving him this money. So the club want you to play. Yeah, of course you do, but you've got to be playing well. That's my point. That's what I'm saying. So for him to say the club will let him down. Yeah, he's throwing his tights. The club hasn't let him down. He hasn't played very well. look there's a load of him in that Liverpool team that haven't played very well and he's been the one that's been left out I was just going to say then
14:36Paddy McGuinness:out of all the Liverpool squad sorry scores who can go to Mo Salah and have a pop it in because they've all been crap I've never seen a team go from so good to so bad in a season you might get one or two players having a bad time but the rest of them carrying like six it's really extraordinary how they look at them what is it then is it down to slot I haven't got a clue well it might be it could be but he's the manager I think the pressure will now this will ramp it up for slot I think well it'll be telling if he goes to Milan firstly if he's on the if he's on the flight or if the manager doesn't leave him at home then look then the club should sack the manager in my eyes because then he's lost all authority of the football club and it's alright saying the clubs got back me as a manager you can't back it back a player but if he's not got the balls if you like to go mo you stand at home you're not coming I want the team together with clean crap and we've got to get our togetherness back if you don't do that then I think the mind is go go yeah it's got a little got a leave him out completely apologize he's does he go he's not gonna come out apologize absolutely no chance absolutely can't watch Paul drive for what he's saying what he said what he's pre emptied exactly what he can't go back and say I saw it I'm sorry about that now because you know exactly what he's doing he knows exactly what we said I think now he'll go to the off-con court because I was called it off-concups or it'll go there now I don't think you'll see him in Liverpool shirt ever again.
15:58I was just going to say that they might send him now so go on go.
16:01Paddy McGuinness:Go now. Do you know what? That's a shame. For the Premier League I think it is. He's bright on himself don't he? It's his own fault. Yeah. It is a it's funny now in the modern game how that becomes a thing now just go out and say something publicly and that'll get you out your contract. But I understand Mijer can do that Nuno is the top of the tree at that club he's not undermining anybody that the owners fell out with but when a player does that and you're undermining your manager like you're with every single day. I can't get my head around it. He should just knock on the manager's door, call him all names under the sun face-to-face where no one can see it, and then he's sold anyway.
16:38That's very old-fashioned now.
16:39Paddy McGuinness:He's sold there anyway. It's the easiest way of doing it though, isn't it? It's the best way. It's not easy, but it's the best way. I obliterate the manager face-to-face, tell him all the things that you don't like about him and how is this shit, that crap, this bad, I'm not playing for you again. And he's sold anyway. Like you say, go back to the club and say, these promises you're supposed to give me but where are they where are they yeah what happens with so if you're the captain in that Liverpool team if you're Van Dijk surely would the captain just not have a word with Mo and go fucking hell we're trying to we're trying to win some games here as the captain surely you must have to depends what the relationship is I suppose you'd like to think so the thing with Van Dijk he probably not got that much confidence about himself because he's struggling a bit the full team It's alright when you're playing well and you're brilliant every week.
17:27You can go and have a word with maybe a player who's struggling. But this is Mo Salah, do you know what I mean? Was he not just talking about him saying that and you were saying about you can't think of anything like that happening? I remember, and again, I might not be 100 % right on this, but I remember all that situation with Yaps Dam and he puts something in the book, which compared to this really isn't anywhere near that. But just by alluding to something in a book, Alex Ferguson, terrar.
18:00Paddy McGuinness:I think with Yap, I think that got, you know, when it gets serialised in a paper, I think it was serialised wrong. I think that was his mistake. I think the more of the kind of similarities for me would be the way Ronaldo was with Ten Hag. So that Ronaldo and Ten Hag, and who's going to go up to Ronaldo in the Man United squad then and say, Ronnie, you're way out of line here. No one's going to do that because he's that big. There's no characters. I wrote a Keenwood example, but there's no character in that and I think that's the same with Liverpool now there's no character that will go up to Mo and go I'd imagine this that and the other you're wrong here you've got to do that we're a team because he's just bigger than him if anyone can it's Van Dijk isn't it yeah but do you think he's that kind of character and again it's really difficult to say because we don't know him as a character but I just think it's really I just think sometimes as a mate though they've won the leagues together they've won European Cups together you'd be like saying come on I think all the players will still support him yeah because you can't imagine being a bad lad can you no it doesn't look like bad but if Gerrard was in there I can't agree was in there them characters I would be confident that they would go up and say something I just don't look at any of them now that I think that would go up to them you never know some of the players might agree with him they might not like the manager you see the thing with slot and all for me is sometimes with certain managers who aren't that popular at a club and I'm not saying he's not popular but they have a certain way about him and you just don't even as a fan, you're going, yeah, I can see why it's not working.
19:23But Slott seems kind of like an all right bloke. You know, I don't know what he's like running a club and being the manager, but his interviews are usually all right. And he doesn't seem like someone who's, like, you look at Capello back in the day with England. I used to see him and I used to think, oh God, I bet he's a fucking nightmare player. Do you know what I mean? But Slott, I don't get that. Yeah, he's coming across so he hasn't got a clue what's going on. I don't know why he was losing he's almost too laid back possibly but he's Dutch isn't he have you ever met a Dutch person who isn't confident about himself they're unbelievable he's Inga Van Gaal they're all they're all very self proud and have real confidence and all about him but even his I don't think he's got a clue why it's happening or how it's happening
20:09Paddy McGuinness:I think we got back at the start of this certainly the start of our podcast was the start of the season we was raving about Liverpool squad raving about I was particularly how good they're going they're going to win the league's goal he's saying the squad's unbelievable win everything I bet he's a shock to anybody else I bet he's sat there going I'm doing everything the same as I did the year before as a coach as a manager I'm doing everything that I've been my beliefs are throughout my coaching career my managerial career what is going on I bet he's just shell shocked and I'm pretty sure the board will be and you're looking going they can't be that bad with them players that they're not a top player what would you be doing now Monday morning what does the manager do with Mo Salah I would drag Mo Salah and I said to him, you're never playing for me again.
20:50Paddy McGuinness:So you get your asshole agents to go and sort out with our board and get out of this club for York because you're not playing for me ever again. And whether that's right or wrong, he has to do that as a leader. And it's a bit like when, you know, a big player, you talk about Yapstam, you talk about Roy Keane, you talk about David Beckham, big superstar players. And so Alex Ferguson moved them on. Whether it's right or wrong, that's what he did. And that's because you have to be the leader of the football club when you're a manager. Slott doesn't do that now. he's never going to have the
21:20Paddy McGuinness:respect or the ball won't be looking down at him and going you're our man they can't and it might be the worst thing or wrong thing to do but he has to go there and go now I'm in charge not you even if there's it between gritted teeth he's got to do that I tell you what is grim is if they keep Morsell and get rid of slot because that then shows that players are running the joints you know what I mean they can't do that When you think like an athlete, setbacks don't stop you. But mindset alone doesn't get you moving again. That's where Icy Hot steps in. Ice works fast. Heat makes it last. So when the rest of the world settles because of a setback, Icy Hot accelerates your comeback with fast-acting, powerful pain relief.

No, just Duracell. Remember, GOATS only trust GOATS because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell. It can happen though.
23:15Paddy McGuinness:At Football Club, We're Man United people, they are arch rivals, but that is an institution, that's a football club, that GOAT, that is a proper football club. It's a football club that not many are like around the world, probably five a lot like that football club. It's a massive football club with massive history and an institution. the football club they cannot sat in the manager and pick the unless he's the manager who's done something really bad behind the scenes I think winning the league last year has to buy him at least a season yeah if you look at the farm now if they haven't won the league last year I think he'd be gone now I think it's a different conversation Mo Salah's been scoring goals and flying he is a scapegoat but he's not but he's not so you can't this is why I absolutely love football because like what you just said then at the beginning of the season we're you know sat here talking about Liverpool the EZAC thing still wasn't done it's like can you imagine if they get him as well oh they're a shoo-in for the league and we were talking about City and you're like nah I don't see City now you know City really you know you won't be surprised if they win the league especially what's happening with Arsenal I'm not blowing smoke up my own backside but I did say that about four episodes ago well hang on a minute I said it before you no you didn't oh my god I'm going to go on YouTube tonight and watch it all you both want to pat on the back just not happened yet is it well but there's a chance an handshake could have been nice I said to San and Donna Rummer get on the league and you both looked at me and went no I don't remember that look they've got a great chance haven't they dreaming I still don't think they're quite right Paddy sorry but they always get better John Wale forever they always get better you did say that I'll give you that and the thing with Arsenal Arsenal can't win a big game no no they can Until they start winning big games They've got no chance Of winning the league Who's it?
25:05Liverpool they got beat City they couldn't beat City was struggling And they couldn't beat them at home Villa A team who again Look they're a really good team But don't get me wrong But they can't win them games Was it Chelsea Where they went down to 10 men Chelsea Yeah And they didn't get that Could beat Chelsea
25:20Paddy McGuinness:Villa are a top team Villa are a good team Villa are a very very good team Great match But I think Nick If you're going to win the league You've got to start winning Some games at some point You've got to beat your rivals And they can't do it and the reason why you still talk about Arsenal is because everyone else isn't taking the chances except City are now going like that and just because of Pep the only thing I think City are winning is because of Pep he's got that much experience I can see him win the league this year I can see him leaving City historically always get better after January as well always you think about it did that Club World Championship or something they didn't have a pre-season they played one game or something before it it's when you're saying about Pep because he's one of their managers Pep obviously as a manager fucking hell he's on the Mount Rushmore isn't he a great manager but again when I watch football sometimes I love Pep and other times he gets right on my tits when he goes on a pitch at the end well it's not just that it's just like sometimes I feel as though like that the other day when Cherky did that little Rebona and he's like going oh like I can't imagine him liking that though do you know what I mean no I know but I'm like going come on Pep fucking hell and every single City fan in that ground loved it.
26:34Yeah, but he's doing that one out of ten times and that's what Pep will say. He'll think my player's just fucking about it.
26:40Paddy McGuinness:I think Pep's got to say that, mate. As a manager, I think he's got to say that because I think... I don't think he'll like that. He doesn't like it. It's a bit of a piss take, that, I think. I think it's a bit of a piss take. Doing the Rebona? Yeah. It's good, though. It's good. It's brilliant. It's unbelievable. What have we been talking about on this podcast last few weeks? Mavericks. and how much we love him. But it's really difficult for Pep to go on camera and go, what about that? It was brilliant, wasn't it? Because he looks like he's encouraging it. He's better off just going, what did he say something along the lines of, if he goes on, I've seen Messi do that.
27:08Paddy McGuinness:Is that what he said? Ferran used to do that, remember? Ferran used to do it. Ronaldo had done it a few times, didn't he? Yeah, but do you know what? If it doesn't go right, I think the player goes, fuck doing that again. Remember when David Dunne tried to do that and he fell over his ass? Oh, brilliant. But I can't say a bad word against Pep. I love Pep Guardiola I don't think he's his type of player I love Pep Guardiola yeah no I do and I'm glad he's in the Premier League and I hope he stays here for seasons to come like you know amazing Pep I'm on about but but again I just I don't know it's just because like I have the old rose tinty spectacles on and I love floor players and all the rest of it and when I see things like that I'm like oh come on fucking everyone who's paid the money in that in that stadium we talk about football being boring don't we come on give us a bit of something we like that I love it yeah but yeah it might just have got to be a bit more keep everyone calm have you ever attempted one during a game are you taking the piss you might have just had a moment you've gone do you know what I mean I'll try that no not for me I'd have done what David Dunn did and break my neck probably what about you yeah I've tried it in a Premier League no I don't know I might have done can't remember I did it in Vincent Compton I remember doing that I don't remember the fuck you get the power in when I watch should anyone do it?
28:27Nobody, he like, kind of goes like that, doesn't it? Do you know what got me? You've got to have a bit of roll on the bar.
Read the full transcript
28:33Paddy McGuinness:He is left footy, isn't he? Yeah. That got me the fact that he did it, but, so I understand when people do it when they've got a really crap other foot and they do it with the left foot. He did it with his right foot. Yeah. I'm right in saying that, aren't I? I think he did it, he cut back, so he must have done it on his right foot. So he's done that, what's it called? Rabona. Rabona with his right foot, which, I mean, I'm trying to think of doing that on my left foot. I'd double fracture him with his femur or something like that, man. But literally, if you look at it, he did it with his wrong foot.
28:58Paddy McGuinness:So it's an unbelievable bit of skill. And also as well, what I liked about it was when Forden scored the header off it, Forden and every other player went straight over to Cherokee, didn't they? It's brilliant. Yeah. You'd make that up as you got along. It's not something that's pre-planned, is it? But you probably didn't want to kick it with his weak foot. so that's why you do that well if it was full back against him if the next time he comes anywhere near me if I'm full back he's getting put in this rose head and he didn't so that's how football changes doesn't it so yeah see for me it was like Pep's who have gone yeah it was great at that but we don't want to see that every week but we do want to see it every week though don't we of course we do I want to see it all the time I love all that it ends in a goal remember the one when Bellatelli did that like Zidane roll over and try to back heal it in the net and he completely missed it and they brought and Mancini brought him off.
29:50Paddy McGuinness:Remember that? Yeah, he snapped in here. Oh, I remember that, yeah. He tried to backheel it in there. You're thinking, what's he, Davsy, doing? Yeah. Yeah, who were they playing on? I do remember that. And he got brought on Mancini, and they were rowing on it when he brought him off, didn't you remember? Yeah. I, just before we move on from Salah, something I forgot to ask you was, I remember, I forget what season it was, but there was the incident where Roy Keane went on MUTV for a bit of a rant. Now, after that, you lads wouldn't have seen that happen. Did it happen straight after the game? Did he go on live on MUTV or was it like an interview a couple of days after?
30:33Yeah, it was an interview. There was a time then with MUTV every week, one player had to review the game from the weekend and it was his turn. He wasn't playing in the game, was he? I was in Newcastle, I wasn't. Was he? no he wasn't playing in the game so him on the Monday I think we played Middlesbrough and the Saturday we were terrible we were awful and he just had a right pop I didn't actually see the video but did that not kind of bother anyone was it like well he's right it was Roy isn't it Roy's manager well not manager he was captain but he was likely manager so he's just like he is now and looking back what was Roy in 33 34 maybe like we're saying about Mo Salah now it might have been just part of an exit plan I mean he probably ready I think he was struggling a bit with his hip and maybe he'd pre-planned look I don't know I've never spoke to him about it Sir Alex not have a yeah he got everyone in the office it went off in the office yeah it was quite hostile so did he get all the team in and Roy and just said look you can't keep going on Roy to explain himself wow that must have been fucking box office Popcorn I heard Yeah it didn't go great Really?
31:48So you knew coming out of there That was it It was done So when that finished And obviously It's kind of What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas But when the Whatever went on Finished Did you get up And leave there Going That's Roy That's that Do you know what I actually got out And left Before it had all finished I just walked out first I thought No point in hearing this It's doing nothing for me Yeah it just wasn't very nice and I didn't see the whole point for it really but obviously the manager wanted to clear it with everyone with the players I think Roy probably wanted to get something off his chest as well so I'm not listening to this I just walked out you know just on that it's something I've never thought about when you know all clubs now have their own TV station don't they like how does that work with the manager like because they have this access to the players that probably most even though Sky and TNT Sports and all the rest have access and paid loads of money to watch televised games the club channels must have more exclusivity with the players so surely they know not to ask the players certain questions they can't ask like tough stuff you're under more control
33:06Paddy McGuinness:if you're on TV station I'd imagine you'd be under more control well that's why it got pulled didn't it so yeah it got pulled obviously but I think when you go on to the the mix zone as we speak about Mo Salah or you go on to Sky you've got to be really careful what you say or you've got to stand by what you say and roll with it and I think if Salah had said that at Liverpool TV we wouldn't have known anything about it do you know what I mean yeah God's mad that just with Slott and Salah who do you think the Liverpool fans whenever this saga is sorted out will they support you've always got to support your manager if you did a poll of all the Liverpool fans are we keeping Slott or Sally do you think Slott will come top did they have to choose the manager what do you think did they have to I think because they won the league last year I think I think they'd be 50-50 if I'm honest with you I think you'd get the ones that don't understand the managerial side of the job who are just purely football fans and like the players but then you might get a more mature audience that will go I understand and my mind has got to be solid and got to be the leader of the ship, if you like.
34:14Paddy McGuinness:So I think it would be a 50-50. The thing is, it's a lot easier to get rid of a player than a... Sorry, a lot easier to get rid of a manager, isn't it, than a player. I think the player wants to go, so just... I'm just, you know, if he doesn't play for Liverpool, again, I'm not a Liverpool fan, but I am gutted I won't see him in the Premier League because I love watching players like Mo Salah. And as well, he was a shoo-in in my Premier League, my fantasy football. He used to get me points every season guaranteed. It has to come to an end at some point, I don't know. Every great player at some point just aren't as good anymore.
34:47No, of course that's just age but there's a right and wrong way of doing it. Yeah, and he's doing it the wrong way. Yeah, and I think if you have the radio on in the car and you listen to a bit of sport or podcasts or whatever, everyone's saying the same thing. He's doing the wrong thing and it just, it amazes me how his agents and his mates and himself isn't going fucking hell hang on a minute even if he comes out and apologises and doesn't play for Liverpool again that summer I think he'll feel bad about it now yeah I think he'll be thinking fucking hell you do things in the moment don't you yeah of course do a bit like putting messages on Instagram about hammering talking shit bullshit bullshit I don't know why I do that because I deleted 10 minutes later I said to Nick before I said because when I read something it winds me up Kobe Mainu he said he's a starter he's made nine appearances in the Premier League every one of them as a sub yeah I read I read it on here and he says he's a starter and do you know with Instagram I write it and then 10 minutes I said to Nick before I said fucking none of my business more we're getting involved but things like that wind me up I think you do get involved and this is why people love it when you two are talking is because you're fans do you know what I mean and football's so sanitised no one does say anything because everything's magnified
36:13Paddy McGuinness:the Kobe one's just an absolute 261 minutes he's played the Kobe one is an absolute joke I wouldn't mind if it was a good team that's what I'm going to say winning every week and keeping possession I went to the game Thursday and my son to watch the game Thursday and I'm looking at it it was an absolute shit show it was a terrible game boring nothing great the subs warm up you're thinking right we're going to put on here to change the game the only one I can put on to change the game in my opinion would have been Cobb he didn't even get on the pitch didn't get on the pitch have you seen his subs always I don't think this manager just gets this club full stop I just don't think he's the right man yeah Man United is about risk and entertainment more than anything at home especially at home having fans on the edge of the seat fucking ready to go wingers who beat people shots on goal there's a skill there's nothing there and this is do you know what though that's from the club we talk about this as a different club they've got Omar Barada they've got Jason Wilcox who are probably brilliant at the job brilliant at what they do they're not Man United they don't have a clue what it's like to buy a Manchester United player and to bring a Manchester United manager in Ruben Hampton to bring that manager if you go to Sporting Lisbon and watch they play three at the back right away that's no Man United never do that they can't do that they just can't it's been proven over years and years and years and I'm talking even before Also Alex Ferguson, it was always about 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2.
37:41Entertaining people. He hasn't got that in him. So that's why I'm talking. Jason Wilcox, Owen Brad, they've probably gone out and watched Sporting Lisbon. And how can they think that's a Manchester United manager? Do you know what gets me as well? Sorry, Nick, just one more minute. You talk about the subs there. He brought four defenders on against West Ham. Man United, for us, Nicky, if we go 1-0 up, the manager always said, 2-3-4. and there were several times when it did it it happened I remember once I think we were playing Chelsea went 1-0 up and we sat back a little bit now Chelsea were a good team sometimes you get forced to do that we sat back we sat back we sat back the manager went absolutely nuts after the game that doesn't happen here when you score one you go for two you go for the throw every single time this I just don't think he gets it I don't think anybody at the club gets Man United
38:29Paddy McGuinness:his favourite quote towards Ross these fans pay their money that they've earned at the job from 6 in the morning until six at night and they want to be entertained. Now, that doesn't mean you're always going to win, but you've always got to come, Old Traff in particular, entertain them and score your dead right. And I look at the way they play. You've got Luke Shaw as a left back. I can't tell you the way they play. I don't know what it is. I was watching that and I'm thinking to myself, I'm doubting myself going, do I know anything about football? Because I can't understand how they're playing.
38:57Paddy McGuinness:You've got Luke Shaw playing as a centre back, essentially. I know it's three, but he's a left back. You've got Ahmad Diallo playing full back. is a number 10 or a number 11. You've got Kunia and Buembe sometimes playing as a nine and they're never an out-and-out number nine. They sit back as like a 10. You've got Bruno Fernandes, probably one of the best number 10s or number eight in the league, playing number six. I mean, there's square pegs in round holes all over the pitch. It's not like you've got one or two and they've got a few injuries. They're playing their strongest, so-called strongest 11 and out the whole 11, there's four or five of them not even playing in positions.
39:32Paddy McGuinness:It was only the other week, Diallo playing left wing and he's a right back and you're going how is he so many people who are in square round hole square pegs it's impossible square pegs round hole it's unbelievable you know to me they look like a badly coached team I don't know what do you know when you see a Premier League team now you know what they're trying to do like Unai Emery at Aston Villa you know the way they're going to score goals Morgan Rodgers number 10 they play it into Ollie Watkins other teams do you know what I don't know what Man United are trying to do it's a mess honestly what What you just said then, where you were saying about going, do I even know anything about football?
40:08I can't understand. Like, what's amazing about that statement is you two have forgotten more about football than I'll ever know. And even me, as an absolute rank amateur when it comes to football, I'm just a fan. I love the game. I watch it and going, I can't fucking, and I'm looking at football in the simplest terms. The only thing I can think of what he's trying to do is, rely on a bit of magic from Bruno Fernandes or possibly Cunha he's only scored one goal I think Cunha and Vermo scored a few goals I don't see the patterns of play where they're going to open a team up now back to Cobby Manu this is a 20 year old kid he's going to have to leave and you know what will happen now he'll bring him into a game he'll play and he won't be great because he needs five six seven eight games
41:00Paddy McGuinness:you know that yourself when you play yourself he'll throw him into the team he won't regret it he'll say I told you so yeah he's not good enough I'm telling you now he won't go where is he playing football Nick where is Cobby Manu playing football he's no games anywhere and every player that is needs an arm around the shoulder as well he'll be another one another one that's homegrown that'll leave the football club and be a superstar somewhere else I am telling you now if Cobby Manu was playing for Chelsea Crystal Palace what's the other palace called Waterloo the Triangle if Cobby Manu was playing for Chelsea for Fulham Crystal Palace or Wolves or a team that's no disrespect that's a bottom half team Man United go and buy him for 70, 80 million now we're going to sell him for X amount of money and he'll go to another club and he'll be a superstar like Scott McTominay like Alanga like several others we can make Dean Henderson who people forget about we didn't have a goalkeeper this new kid he looks okay to be fair but before him we're getting rid of players that love the football club run through Brit Wars for the football club grandparents were Man United fans they've been there since he was seven and as a business head for them they're on a third of what these new players come in at and they're not paying the transfer fee it's mind boggling and again it goes back to Scoles there the leaders of that football club do not understand that football club I said about Liverpool a minute ago and I do believe and I'm not a Liverpool fan as you know but they're an institution Barcelona, Real Madrid institutions Bayern Munich Juve AC Milan institutions Man United you can't just go into a football club that I consider an institution which I said about Liverpool as Man United are as well it's not just about going and doing X, Y and Z and putting something together and going out on a football pitch it's total different when you're playing at Man United or Liverpool or a big institutional football club and that's my big big worry about it as I said they don't get the club nobody there gets the club you think of the treatment I can't be minding him now look he's not playing fair enough look as a manager sometimes you just don't fancy a player but when they're not playing that well and what he's done in the game already as a young kid he scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final he's brilliant he's played in the Euro he's played nearly every game in the Euros I bet he takes the piss out of Casemiro every single day in training I bet it's brilliant but you could argue you could argue and this is just playing devil's advocate a bit like Mo Salah he did all that last season but he's not playing but he's not saying a word is he?
43:13no but what I'm saying is yeah Kobe's not saying anything but is something happening in training what Amarin's looking at going he's just not I think if that was Amarin I think Amarin would say that but I don't think there is again the people at the club So, homegrown talent at Man Utd is, they love homegrown players, of course. So why is Jason Wilcox, why is Barada allowing the manager to treat an homegrown talent like that? This episode is brought to you by Google Chrome. 45:07Paddy McGuinness:Look, if you win in every league, you top a league. Yeah, but they're fucking 12th in the league. I get the Garnaccio one, right, because he behaved. Yeah, he's behaved. His attitude was terrible, and things that were coming out were terrible. You don't hear anything coming out bad about Cobbett. No. Nothing. Now, he might not be great in training, but as an 18, 19, 20-year-old kid that's played for Man United for the last two years, is that not a bit of credit in the bank for him? And go and give him a chance and go and let him loose? Are you telling me on that game the other day when I went and watched, coming men who come on the pitch and can't do better than Casemiro, Ugarte and other players that he brought on?
45:45Paddy McGuinness:He's a top, top, top player that we are fucking up. I'll tell you what will be sad, what you just said then about, you know, selling him to another club and then he becomes a superstar and then United fucking sack hammering and you go, well, you've got it, you've got it wrong way around. You've sold an ungrown player and then you're stuck with this manager who... They've been making those mistakes for years, as Nicky said, haven't they? Look at McTominay. Football of the year in Italy. I know. On the Ballon d 'Or list. It's fucking... Now, the mistakes... But before that... That's where I come in from.
46:17Yeah. there's nobody there who knows what United did what it takes to be a United player what it takes to run the club they just they might be brilliant people they might be brilliant at the job
46:26Paddy McGuinness:but they're at the wrong club now Scott wasn't playing great before he left he wasn't but what the bigger picture of that is right who's around him well he got tarnished with Fred didn't he Mac Sauce and all that kind of stuff Mac Fred he's having a bad time Mac Fred sorry it wasn't Mac Sauce Mac McDonald's yeah but literally you're looking at a young player who everyone knows and everyone loves within that football club. Now, who's around him to go, Scott, just sit down, take a breather, have a chat, accept you're going to be on a bench for a bit and you'll get there eventually. Are you telling me he didn't have a bad time at Man United at certain points?
46:57Paddy McGuinness:I didn't. Ryan Giggs didn't. David Beckham didn't. Royke. Everyone who comes through that football club has a bad patch. But the bigger picture is he's a top, top squad. What he's done now is amazing and he looks like one of the top players in Europe. Even then, when he was at Man United, he is still a very, very valuable squad player to Man United for all the reasons that we mentioned before. and he just who, Cobby Manu? No, sorry, Scott McTominay and he's going, he's gone, he's gone and you lost his forever and I'm telling you now, I keep reading things, Man United might go back in for it, Scott McTominay's not coming back to Man United and after the way he's been treated, absolutely no chance on the planet he's been back, that is the madness of football though, you can see him doing that.
47:35Paddy McGuinness:I'll try it but he will not come back and I do not blame him after the way he's treated and it's the same now with Cobby. What happens now to Cobby now then? Cobby's got a goal. What would you do then? If I'm looking after Kobe Manu, take me Man United head off, I'm going, Kobe, we're getting you out of that football club. Don't need to speak up. We'll sort it out. It's so sad. It's sad. It's so sad to think of that. For his football career, he has to leave Man United. He's lost 18 months of development. Yeah. Does he stay in the Premier League? Does he do what Scott does? Well, that's a scary thing.
48:01Paddy McGuinness:I hope he goes abroad because it's embarrassing if it comes to Chelsea, which they might go and get him because they are putting together a very good young squad and they keep buying young players and they keep buying the right, good young players and you're thinking he could quite easily end up at Chelsea next season and do you know what you'd have to advise him to go you'd have to advise him if he ran me to her and said look I think Chelsea don't think what do you think I don't know very long I've known Cogbie since he was 7 or 8 if I went for a coffee with Cogbie and him who obviously Cogbie would look up to and obviously looked up to both of us but you'd be you wouldn't be doing him justice if he said no no Cogbie stay at Man United because it's the best club in the world I'd said that to loads of kids if I was sat with him I'd say for your own sanity and career go and that is such a sad thing for us to say I was very critical and Marcus early in the season I'm not changing my mind but I think it's done in the world of good going to Barcelona and I didn't like it I didn't like the way he behaved and I said that on air but looking back now and you look at him he looks like he's having a bit of fun and again maybe I underestimated how he was treated at the club people just not knowing young players and what young players means to man management we get lost in euphoria on the on the history of the football club because it was so good when he was there yeah from the age of 12 up until 29 one manager one person you trusted coaches around that you trusted scouts that have been there since we was 11 years of age still at the training ground with 26 and winning european cups the the same receptionist and i know football clubs change and i know they get bigger and they've become more of a commercial revenue and it all changes but fundamentally a football club is that big and the people within that little circle of trust if you like has to run that football club and we go you would never leave Man United Man United isn't what it used to be and it's a sad thing to say that but it's never going to be at the minute it needs to get changed these people that are there now just don't know the DNA of the club and I'm not just talking about Sir Alex Ferguson it was before Sir Alex Ferguson Sir Alex just took it to a whole new level that ethos and DNA as I said has been there for years and years and years under Sir Matt Busby and the rest of the manager Sir Alex Ferguson just brought it to a different level now that's all just gone out the window and no one's saying I know he's not because I'm best mates I know I'm no one's saying to work at Man United you've got to be a Man United ex-player or you've got to be a Man United fan no one's saying that you go and bring the expertise into your little dynamic if you like so you go and get a Kieran McKenna example who was at Tottenham come in unbelievable coach he's worked at the club though he knows but he's worked around the football and he listened and you take pits from him and you incorporate the Man United philosophy but you take little snippets but now it's totally flipped everyone from outside and no one from inside it has to be at least 60-70 % of people within the football bit that has to be Man United and you bring the little bits in You used to think when Liverpool were great for them 25 years whatever it were everything was within it was in that bubble they call it the boot room don't they and you bring a little bit in I'm trying to think what's around now that can be there's people like Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick they just let Phil Jones go Phil Jones Darren Fletcher's still there Phil Jones was assisting assisting the youth team for peanuts Johnny Evans not even getting paid Johnny not even getting paid and he worked there for 18 months and doing that when you've been playing football I know he had his injuries and people have got say what they want about Phil if you've just retired from football and you're still going to a football club trying to learn trying to develop yourself as a coach and not be on holiday with your missus and your kids who you've not seen for a long time and you're still doing that is that not telling you something that he loves that football and would work there for free and you let someone like that go that is alarming to me it's just absolutely disgusting do you think it's too late to get that that bit of magic back in United because it seems like now with is it Ineos you know right from the top all the way in the Glazers and everything else and that's well documented what people think about them at the club now even if you sort of even if you brought in Roy Keane as the manager and brought you lads back in I think it's that far gone at the top now how do you bring that kind of United sensibility back into it it will happen eventually I just think it's going to take a long time because of the power of the club the financial power of the club I've got somebody at some point will get it right I just looking at what's there now I just don't think they know the club I'm touching back a little bit on what Scully said and I hate the thought of being on Nissan and slagging the club off.
52:35Paddy McGuinness:I hate that. And I hate the thought of people going, oh, they're bitter because they're not in a job there. We're not saying go and get our age group to go and work at that football. Go and get, like you said before, Phil Jones, Johnny, go and get Wes Brown, that era. We're not bothered. But get someone in that football club that knows what it feels like to walk through that gate at the age of 12 and still be there at 30, 32, 30. There's none. Darren Fletch is probably the only one. I always remember though, Nick, our manager, he always wanted us to be involved. for one reason it just didn't happen he always referred to Bayern Munich because Bayern Munich always had like the ex-players doing always running the club directs the football Barcelona yeah Liverpool you mentioned Liverpool Liverpool he loved that about it and I I can only imagine what he thinks though he thinks you know what he's still going every weekend I suppose so there's not that much he can say I wonder like you know someone as great as Sir Alex Ferguson I wonder what he says behind closed doors now when he comes home from watching a game because when you do see him though and I you know the camera always goes to him and I always think bloody hell he'll be hating watching this yeah he'll be hating it's just so far away everything I talk about risk we'd bring like four centre-fours to try and win the game yeah we're bringing now four centre-halves on yes also as well it's fucking incredible yeah and with Amber in as well what seems to happen with United at the minute is like when they beat Liverpool a few weeks back it all seems like when they win a game like that it's almost as though they've won fucking World Cup and you're going hang on a minute Kenny said that Kenny said that on commentary didn't he he said the same thing Roy said the same thing he said it's like it's like winning 1-0 players coming off and they're all high-fiving each other 1-0 at Man United that's that's that's not acceptable you know you might want to win then Nick I'm telling you now if we'd have won 1-0 80 % of that fans are going off going that was crap today they're not going oh yeah we're back because that's not the mindset of the football club particularly at home it's just so it's so not Man United I can't explain when I go and watch a game I ended up on my phone I don't know what I'm watching I don't know what they're trying to do even in the 80s when I used to go and watch Man United and they weren't winning anything you might get a good run in the FA Cup but it's still entertaining you still score goals you still come on I used to come back from Old Trafford going, whoa, whoa.
55:02Paddy McGuinness:I watched Brian Robson do this or Mark Yousele do this or whoever else it might be. Now, it's just fucking boring. It is just fucking boring. Even when you're a fan of football, again, when it comes to the Premier League, I watch football and I'm not too arsed about who's playing, even if it's a club I don't like. I like being entertained. I like watching entertaining football. And I used to like going abroad when I was working here, and everywhere around the world. Like, when you talk about United and teams like this, like, that's what... I used to be proud of, like, talking about Premier League clubs and the style of football.
55:40And it definitely... Not just at United, I think the whole way football's run now just feels a little bit different. But, yeah, when I look at a club like United, and Liverpool, really, you know, I kind of think, oh, come on, fucking get it together.
55:55Paddy McGuinness:My favourite team to watch for me now is Palace. I like watching Sunderland. I just like watching Crystal Palace. and it's down it's down it's high like Bristol Palace Villa Newcastle attack attack attack that's the thing everyone's talking about Palace and Glasner's being next year I can't see that I think he just plays like Amaran I do but he can do it at Crystal Palace he can't do it he can't do that but also as well I forgot about Glasner we were talking about right at the beginning about Morsella Glasner did it over a week come out and went yeah they popped didn't they so he's clearly yeah he's clearly looking for a way out.
56:31He'll be looking for a big job, won't he? Before we wrap up the podcast, it's been a lively one today as well. I can feel the people behind the scenes just typing away the clickbait stuff on our YouTube shorts. It's not something we like.
56:47Paddy McGuinness:I'd love to be saying how great the word is. No, no, no. It's got to be said on it. But a former teammate of yours and player, the Candles Kid. The Candles Kid. he's David Beckham he wins the MLS he's the first person to have won it as a player and an owner brilliant he just what has he done in a previous life he's done something anything he touches turns to gold I'm going everywhere just to shake his hand or something rubs off on me do you know what I'm just hoping he's successful with Solfer as well it'll be alright it's a great achievement to do it as a player first and foremost and to have his own franchise it's just amazing have you sent him a message or anything like that no I haven't yet no I will do actually I sent it in one well done I mean to be fair what he's done there and the place he's done it in Miami I went to a game there last summer with my girlfriend went over there to watch it phenomenal to watch a game there I mean it's unbelievable and that was in the I think it's like a hybrid stadium out of Miami but the new one that's in Miami that'll be phenomenal like Scaldi said what he's done to go and say right I'm going to set up a franchise they've never had one and then what was it is it in four years they've won the title in four years yeah it's the equivalent of going to put in a stadium up here and going and just taking Messi there as well I'm just going to say the players that he's a truck obviously he's a big star everyone's going to play for David wouldn't he in Miami it wouldn't be a bad player to live would it but also also without no skets Messi it's clever as well though he's very clever what he's done I'm telling you because he could have put the franchise anywhere he wanted to he's put it right on the border of like you know the South Americans so all the It's a great dealy sign, wasn't it, once you were a player?
58:26Paddy McGuinness:Yeah. Didn't you get half-price franchise or something? Yeah, I think a franchise chip or something. Messi's 38. Right, all right, you can argue it's the MLS. 49 games, 43 goals, 26 assists. Absolute pest take. 38, I don't care what league it is. It's outrageous. That is a joke. 38 years of age, no signs of slowing down. It's incredible. do you know what 43 goals I think you know what would be a lovely treat and I think if you know he's won MLS as a player as I say he's won as an owner now Beckham fair play to him you know what I'd like if you're in touch with him tell him to send us a candle over candle I'm surprised he hasn't got his own range of candles because this fucking candle chat with Beckham has gone through the roof he might have he might have I've not seen him well if he does get a candle company it'll be number one in the world won't it it'll be like the best candles ever Joe Malone are fucked what does a Beckham candle smell like victory success success nice soft just lovely nice lovely yeah lovely it fucking gets on my tits I'm putting him in in the same bin as Pep Pep and Beckham fucking they're just far too successful far too good looking is Messi the best player you've ever played against I've never played against Messi did you not?
59:58no you must have played against him you must have played against him
1:00:01Paddy McGuinness:horrible I mean I'm thank fuck I think because I would have been in a position to try and play against him as well do you know sometimes there's them players where sometimes you know where somebody's going to go you can read them you look at them he can fucking do anything you haven't got a clue when I went to the game Miami I went all the way there he didn't fucking play he was fucking injured so I was like to Ruben my son he loves football I get a picture so he stood about probably sat sorry about four seats that way and I was what 48, 49 I was like a big kid I was like I'm going like that I think it's fucking messy and he laughed to me I was like I bottled it a little bit but I mean knowing you talk about players you like watching Messi's just unbelievable unbelievable do you know what when you're saying about you look at someone like Messi when you're playing against him you don't know what he's going to do.
1:00:52Even like me as a fan, when I watch him and all, he kind of just, he's a bit nonchalant, and he like, you know what I mean? He's just like, you kind of watch him, what's going on in his head? For half a game, he just walks about, not arsed. Yeah, that's what I mean. And all of a sudden, fucking bang, he's done you. And he'd just be doing that over there in America. He won't be, I bet you look at his running stats, everyone's obsessed with his running stats now. They're the only stats that matter. Absolutely. Goals, assists, fucking hell. Absolutely. Do you think, he finishes in America Messi or do you think he'll go off at Saudi for one final I think he's done the lifestyle he must have in Miami you know what I mean
1:01:27Paddy McGuinness:it's a number and like you say it's next door South America unbelievable place he's not far from his home obviously but I think the lifestyle that they would have in Miami with his kids and his family and actually he doesn't live where all the kind of people would live in downtown he's out of the way near the school he's very much a family man apparently very much a family man how do you follow him you're like half an hour I'm obsessed with Nestle you're following half an hour into downtown I mean what a life living there David if you're watching candles three of thank you that's it for today's The Good The Bad and The Football it's been a lively one but I've thoroughly enjoyed it you can watch us at six o 'clock live every Monday on all the usual channels YouTube Spotify Apple or wherever you get your podcasts

Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness dive into Mo Salah’s outburst about being left out by Liverpool, with Scholesy insisting the winger needs to “grow up” and questioning how premeditated the comments really were. The lads debate why Arne Slot may have no choice but to drop Salah - and what happens if he doesn’t - before turning to Arsenal’s ongoing failure to win big games and what it means for their Premier League hopes.
Scholesy also reveals what really happened between Roy Keane and Sir Alex Ferguson after that infamous Middlesbrough fallout, while he and Nicky share their growing frustration over Kobbie Mainoo’s lack of minutes at Old Trafford. Nicky even predicts Mainoo could be the next young star to leave United and hints at where he might end up, while Scholesy admits why Marcus Rashford was probably right to join Barcelona and the lads question whether Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox truly understand United.
Elsewhere, they celebrate Inter Miami’s MLS Cup win as Nicky remembers being a bit starstruck when meeting Lionel Messi, while Paddy imagines the scent of a David Beckham candle… and Paddy's fact of the week somehow involves a fig roll and an insect.
