Availability, amount of discounts and savings And eligibility vary by state Welcome to the good, the bad and the football First trophy of the season has been won And it's ended up in Manchester The blue side You two must have been absolutely thrilled at the game I actually was Nick, I don't know about you It's a victory for football, isn't it?
1:43You think about the two teams, the way they play I thought City were brilliant some of the performances from individual performances I thought Rodri was back to his best I reckon that's his best game since he's come back Bernardo Silva Chirk he's messing about doing all these skills I just thought they were much better Yeah for me it's one of them ones obviously being a Man United ex-Man United player Man United fan local lad it's tough to see them winning however it's just it's nice because if Pep does leave at the end of the season it'd be nice for him to go out with a trophy because he's been unbelievable for this football team.
2:19You want the team who play try and play the best football to win the game? Of course you do. I don't care who it is. As Nicky said, we're United fans. Obviously, it's not ideal. But I felt if I... The only way Arsenal were going to win that game yesterday is if they'd have scored one of them chances early on and then just short shot for... It'd have been boring. Great trouble save from... Yeah, great trouble save. It'd have been the worst game ever. Well, yeah, it's an interesting one because Arteta came out before that game and I thought, oh, we're in for a bounce summary. He went, we are going to just attack these we're going to look for their pockets we're going to be on the front foot and I'm thinking and then I'm like well what happened?
2:56They haven't got a team to do it they haven't got players we've said it all season it's not a it's a workman maybe a bit harsh to say but it's workman even watching the lineups before they go I was looking at us thinking they are massive they're absolutely man mountains a lot of them can you see why they do so well from set pieces. Now look, they can play, they can defend, but there's no flair about the team whatsoever. You have to admit they missed Ezey yesterday, they missed Olegard, who possibly could give you a little bit of summer. But even when they're playing, they've never played flowing football where you think, Jesus, they're a good team.
3:35I just never thought it once. I think they have got talented players. I just think they get put into a structure by the manager. Obviously, he leads the pack, if you like, with the way they play. And they fit into a structure that's very, very rigid and it looks like they're just robotic and they don't have any real licences to go and express themselves. That's my opinion looking from a distance. I'm going to surprise you though from Arteta. It doesn't look like a man who wants a boring team. But also, if you look at the players, Saka and all these kind of players, obviously the two lads are missing, but they have got talent within the squad and they've got flair.
4:05It just seems to me like, I might be talking about your backside, I don't know, but it just looks to me like they get put into a rigid formation and they can't go free-flowing football. You look at City, their players end up all over the show they bend up all over the show little pockets all over the show and you can see why over the years Pep's been so successful and good to watch I'll just say there's a good point like you think what position has Bernardo Silva everywhere yeah but also everywhere what you were saying about Tets you know he's come from Pep's school if you like he's been with me but but in fairness I know everyone says that piece I've seen but they have become obsessed with it I think they probably took the eye off you've got But in fact, you don't have to entertain to win a league.
4:46Of course, you win the league any way you want, but as football fans, you want a bit of entertainment. What I thought really interesting about that when I was watching, especially after the game, watching Wrighty on the Punditry, he were almost saying, and I thought, God, it's bonkers hearing that. He was like almost, not encouraging, but saying we need to get back to 1-0 to the Arsenal. That's what they've been doing, haven't they? No, no, but what I'm saying is like, It's interesting hearing people, ex-players say that. Where you go, everyone's talking about, again, negative set pieces, this, that and the other.
5:25And it doesn't matter once your name's on the trophy. But I just thought, bloody hell, it is that mentality they have. I'll back up Arsenal a little bit. They just need to get over the line with a trophy. And when they do that, then they can start maybe going and getting a bit of flesh. So people like Reiter will be saying, let's just win. Let's just win this Premier League. Let's just win this cup. Let's just do this. Let's get over the line, if you like. and then they can worry about and I think that's the mindset they're in now they're panicking like mad about getting the trophy they're panicking mad about winning the Premier League which is obviously what they want to do and that's the main drive and I think they will still do it yeah and us lot when we watch it and we pundits and we talk about different things it's easier for us to all go well they're not playing this and they're not playing that way they're not flaring they're not exciting which they're not but if they go and win the Premier League Teta will not give flying you know what he'll just be sat there on the beach in the summer with his Premier League title under his belt thinking right what's the next step what's the next step what's the next step so they're going to be like that until they win the title there's more than one way of skinning a can yeah do you know what you go back to as right you talk about Ian Wright there you go back to his team you talk about 1-0 to Arsenal they were a team of giants as well but they also had some brilliance mixed in with it you think of the Bergkamp I think these have got when you think of Vieira and Petit sort of midfield massive mountains Martin Keown Tony Adams Steve Bold and a lot of leaders I reckon Martin will be alright this morning what do you reckon I've just heard one on the radio he seemed alright I think he's knowing that zone where he's like no one's rattling me yeah we need a little Martin Keown picture though a little doll we'll never wobble him like that any of the subscribers because we had someone which was very nice from the centre's little leg all thing lovely that we had a four tagged them in if anyone's into knitting do us a little Martin Keown knit us a little Martin Keown from the table there but no seriously going back to that you talk about Flair and that great Arsenal team had little bits of it they could win probably every single way by playing brilliant football and by just staying back 1-0 we'll take a set piece this team they can't seem to win without Flair at the minute now as I said they've got the two number 10s missing who are very good players and still not in a class of them you go back and they didn't bring I don't think they brought Max Thelma on yesterday did they he could be one person as a 16 year old kid who might save their season a little bit he could bring a bit of style to them I think he got protected though hadn't he and at 2-0 down you get into like 80th minute the tricky one the better players just weren't performing you think you talk about these these forward players not performing but you have to look at your midfield players in the centre half they couldn't get the ball to them they have to be ones to fucking break the lines Can I ask you both about the mentality of footballer when you're in the middle of a, well, coming to the back end of a season, like I say, Arsenal's looking like they're going to win the league.
8:21I know the defeat in the Carabao Cup final, everyone's like, oh, we don't know now, but they'll still do it. Because of the set pieces, the score off, does the mentality change where when you're in a game, you're almost, rather than thinking about, he's going to do that, or I'll do this, or whatever, you're going, well, once we get a corner or a free kick, we'll get a goal. Do you start changing your mindset? When you're playing that way? Yeah, because that's where your goals come at. Do you stop thinking about creative playing? You can see the excitement yesterday when they get a corner. That's what I'm saying.
8:59Did you see the bit of a banana or silver sprinting out to try and stop it going from a corner because even when you're playing against it, you don't want to give it away. It's almost like playing against Stoke, what we did years ago, wasn't it? sometimes because the throw-ins were that good the manager told us to kick out for a corner because they dilap because they dilap whoosh the last thing you do is kick out for a throw-in now look sometimes you can't you can't help it so kick out for a corner because the delivery is probably not as good that's what I'm saying so do you think now that team almost like have that in their mind like deep down psychologically they go well we know how we win but that's part of their armoury you know it's not a bad thing People won't like that, as in pure football, but I see it as another part of their, string to their bow, if you like.
9:44Something like saying, I don't know, back in our day, don't worry lads, Giggsie will run past three and score a goal in a minute, or Yorkie will score the goal, or Cantona will get one, or Scorsie will get one. It's part of your armoury. Yeah, it's part of your armoury. And, you know, I'm not Arsenal's biggest fan, but you have to admire that whoever they play against, they are shit scared of giving them a set piece. And they're unbelievable at doing it. and I think someone said something there I don't think I'm right I might be wrong in saying this but the owners own LA Rams don't they that's right and the same owners and I think some of and obviously NFL is all like set plays and strategic plays and written down for them so they're all different coaches doing different things apparently they use the same coach at the NFL I've come over and started helping out with the set pieces at Arsenal no yeah honestly that's what I got told there's a massive difference isn't there use the fucking hands no no but it's about where to be so if you look at where they're at they always start at the back and they end up in the middle of the goal it's a weird way of doing it but I'm pretty sure they're going really into depth it's not like what we used to do we have five minutes at the end of a game where you go and do some corners they will have classrooms and videos and all sorts going on there I'm telling you now because they know how important that is to them winning the Premier League what we're saying is I think they've become obsessed with it they forgot about the other way that they actually can score goals they've got good players you've got Saka who looks lost at the minute because they can't get they can't get the ball to him yeah more than anything he's got a great ability but they're just just an obsession that we're going to have to live maybe as well looking at the game and how it evolves what you were saying then about bringing those coaches in from NFL maybe he's ahead of his time Arteta probably going down the down the line a lot of clubs will start bringing in different coaches from different sporting things that's happening now there's a big unit that came in from rugby union I think everyone with the unit so your defensive your midfield your forwards do you still get the sense of a team though then yeah I mean obviously I don't know in football now but when we were playing we'd all be together meeting and it got a bit the first time it was me in England you go to your midfielders meetings and the defensive meetings and the forward meetings and they do that but it's always football will always be a unit a game of 11 players I don't like that though do you I don't know what it's saying getting split up no I don't like it that's what I mean even in training you get your camaraderie don't you yeah I don't think you train separate no you don't train separate you'll have little meetings we never did it we did it in England I remember in England little meetings little five ten minute meetings like the midfielders stay behind and the centre backs the defenders stay behind I suppose coaches will do the units but then the manager clearly has to bring it all together he has to just parking Arsenal up for a minute because you know let's talk about the team who won it and Nico O 'Reilly what I love about this lad turned 21 on Saturday and then scores two goals and he's an academy player we like that we want to see that he'll never forget that weekend for the rest of his life he'll be turning 21 then going to score two goals a sovereign sovereign from H fucking Samuels this lad he only got himself a Ferrari he scored two goals for City he's got more than a sovereign but he's a he's scored at the weekend as well though he's a top footballer top football you look at him he collides going back to when I first seen it was two years ago Salford played City in the FA Cup a year ago and anyway he played left back and he was like straight away going he's built like a massive great stature about him smooth little left foot beautiful left foot and you think anyway I'd spoke to Pep about him and he was saying he's actually a forward he's not played left back before and that was a year ago that was his first ever game his first game he played left back he was number 10 and he's got into midfield a bit now I know he played left back what does Pep see then Pep's full backs are always stepping into midfield I was going to say what does Pep what did Pep see in him or say to him to convince him he's a left back he's left footed he's massive he can run and they've probably not got a left back that's as good as him and if I knew that I wouldn't be fucking sat here with you probably reminds me of somewhere wouldn't I no but he's got to be something as a player because if you have your position you've always played as a kid and you think I'm brilliant and that and then you go into a manager and go you're going to be a defender I think full backs now aren't defenders the midfielders are wingers most of them you get the odd one or two Yates Arsenal Yates Arsenal they play four and a half they do play four and a half at Arsenal but full backs nowadays most of them on 90 % of them are all like midfielders or wingers and they can always receive the ball and nice at going forward and step into midfield particularly at City Trent's prime example yeah He's just at City and you just see how he plays football.
14:33He's smooth in everything he does. He delivers the ball well and he always arrives late in the box, scores goals. He's a big, what, 6-4? Got to be 6-4. Massive. Powerful. And yeah, it just resonates with me that he was the one that played left-back a while a time ago. And literally, is he in the England squad by the way? Yeah. He is, yeah. He'll say he'll start. I'll say he'll start. Do you reckon? Yeah, yeah. What I like about him when I watch him at City and all, he doesn't seem like overawed by the players around him. You know, City, Pat, big, top, world-class players. Is he a local lad? Yeah.
15:06I don't know where he's from. But you know, when you're a local lad and you're coming through the system at your club, the fans absolutely adore you. You can make mistakes, you can get... I like local lads. I don't mind what team they're coming through. I love it when I see them come through. Then you get in training with them very early. So, you know, you're training with the first team sometimes when you're 16, 17. So they get to know you and the players, the Man City players, they all look like great lads as well. So you can imagine them looking after him really well and they've got an unbelievable talent there.
15:31You were saying this though he's only missed like four games or something. Yeah. He's played a massive amount of games. And also as well in that team and this is what I like about City you've got Haaland there who does the business you get this lad scoring the two goals Haaland's not even on the score sheet. It's like it's crazy isn't it? That's what great teams do. That's what I'm saying. Goals from anywhere. Yeah goals from anywhere. You look at his team yesterday and I think that's the best city I've looked for a long long time do you know when we speak in the past about they could go on a run of 20 games and not lose a game you haven't really seen that the last few weeks have you I thought yesterday was the first time do you reckon they could go on a run now then yeah do you not think the international break though takes the momentum off them no I think that'll give them massive confidence and do you know what if they win the game in hand and they beat Arsenal it's only three points all of a sudden do you know we've been in their positions where Arsenal yesterday where you come to the end of the season you can't win a game yeah do you know when you've had a blow like that well what's interesting in that loss they didn't even look like it wasn't where it was like oh they've both gone at it here no they looked flat yeah flat do you know as well though you mentioned before I think Roger is massive when he's playing like he's playing he's just unbelievable I think that's the best of his look since he come back from his injury I know he's been back for a long time he struggled a bit and rightly so because he's really bad injuries out for a year if he carries on with that yeah also as well watching it and I've got to say as a pun so when I'm sat on the couch or when I'm watching a game live whether it's something that gets me back up or I enjoy it I still quite like I sometimes like seeing a bit of shithousery and when Cherky did a couple of little you'd be fuming but I've got to say I enjoyed it but it's not right but I think again sometimes football now I like stuff happening in games just as a punter I'm like it's interesting especially when a game is like the other teams aren't doing more you think about the morning we do about not being entertained that's what I'm saying that's what I'm saying and we're actually selling it right at the start of the season I think we're surprised that Pep signed him because he's got that in him yeah He can mess about, but again, he was brilliant, wasn't he?
17:57Unbelievable. Versus Gillishaw, now doing them kick-ups. If you were on his team, you'd probably have a go at him. We think if someone's pissing about like that, let's fucking start with that. Only because you're inviting the player to smash you. I'm not like he's right, he's saying he's clean Mexico. But when you're not involved and not around it, I love it. In a classroom of sodas, most stay quiet. Then there's Mr. Pibb. Sweet cherry, bold outbursts. the kind of flavor that gets attention. Bull kick of cherry. And you missed the pin. Protein is now at Starbucks, and it's never tasted so good.

Also as well, what I liked, and you know, you can rate, I think if you're winning a medal in a cup, it's brilliant.
19:22But there's certain cups that rate higher than others. I'm not saying anything against the Carabao Cup, but I loved Pep's reaction to that first goal going in. He booted the side of the stands. He was like, ah. And I just thought, that's one of the best managers that ever, you can argue. And look what that meant to him. I think that's probably because of the size of the game, really. That's what I'm saying. it was against Arsenal now look against anyone else I don't think maybe a Liverpool or a Man United he may have had the same reaction but I think Justin Puck he knows that could have a bigger the only way they got any chance to win the league was winning that game yesterday well what do we think about the goalkeeper situation Paddy especially coming from you a specialist in that position what's your opinion this is exactly textbook what happens with goalkeepers there's no two ways about he's fumbled no what I'm saying is everyone's like he's lost him game no he's not the fucking team lost that game we're at players going up scoring goals at the other side he's made a mistake as you make a mistake when you're out on the pitch no one says anything do you know what I think it's done for Arsenal it's deflected how bad they were that's what I'm saying I'm not putting it on Kepp when you look at no but I'll give you an example when you look at Spurs the other week in that European game.
20:50No, he has had a Western, right? And there's no two ways about that. But the team were crap as well. But when he happened with that ball, I'm going, well, all right, yeah, it happens. And everyone's like, oh, Kepa, shouldn't have played him, should have played Ray. And you're going, why shouldn't he play? He's a good keeper. He's not prone to loads of gaffs, is he? Do you know what I mean? Look, as Nicky said before we started this, that it's hard of course it is when you're not playing just to come in not for keepers people might say oh no it's easy physically it's not it's getting your distances timing to come out there's a lot of things and I like what Arteta said and I know it's easy to say after the game but I like how he said no right decision said I wanted to play him because if you kept her and you're watching your manager say that about you you're going to feel a million dollars it's all about confidence yeah he has to say that because well what if next week that Raya's injured.
21:48He's got to come back into it. Yeah, look, it's the right way to go about it, of course it is. And look at the other end, where Trafford played instead of Donovan. Three brilliant saves. So two completely different ends of the scale. And again, goalkeeper, it's one of the positions where you can have a game where you save a few and you feel brilliant. When was that? I have had them. You're all focused on Tevez. But what I'm saying is, you have a game where it goes wrong and that's all anyone ever talks about. And that's that. The thing is though, when you become like, oh my God, you're like, what about all the other games?
22:24But a keeper, if you make a mistake in a big game, the highlights are going to be on you. They know that as goalkeepers. They know exactly what's going to come. To do that in a final, it's horrific. And that's why goalkeepers, they're a certain type of breed because I was talking to Joart about that and I was talking about mistakes in games when you're in big, big games as a keeper like how do you kind of after the game how do you get there and he said you've just got to go what fucking it is or is like they make enough mistakes out there it's one of them and genuinely I kind of thought yeah that's kind of it really you can't fucking save everything that was actually before Tevez and I think when the fourth goal went in what did Joe say?
23:12I was looking for him he'd already in showers it was it was like fucking I'm out of it but it were a mistake there's no two ways about it but that's not lost up game no that's what I'm saying a lot of deflecting has gone on from yeah remember Arsenal were really poor in the game and also as well this is what I like about goalkeepers as well as to you outfield players after the game Donna Rummer's on hugging him talking to him opposite keepers hugging him talking to him and you go in yeah because they know they know that feeling what's he saying to them well you thanks for letting us win that no no you could see they were like it were almost like fucking hell it's false bullshit we've all done it that's false what do you mean it's false it's false what's false about it oh go and hug him and all that saying unlucky what is goalkeeper because you've never been a keeper you don't know the mentality because when you make a mistake it's horrendous and every goalkeeper's done it it's only like a defender making a mistake you don't see the defender if they're going over and hugging him.
24:15That's my point. That's my point. You've just highlighted my point for me. It is bullshit, isn't it? No, do you know why? Because that's what I'm saying. We're a different breed. But every goalkeeper... You're right there. There's a bit of community. You are a different breed. There's a bit of community, lads. We fucking care about each other. Every goalkeeper can't be mates. Every goalkeeper in the whole country and the world can't be mates. No, but every goalkeeper knows what a mistake's like and that's why. Because all the focus comes on... How many times have you been in a game where you've miskicked it and no one ever no one ever talks about it which is fine yeah but you don't give a goal away exactly that's what I'm saying as a pressure in fact while we're at it fucking there should be highest player players in team as well I'm just putting that out there fucking goalkeepers the goalkeepers only go in goal because there's shit outside they can't play football they get put back there in a six they never come out do you know I'm saying this is absolutely our I wish I could get fucking Shea given you went as an outfield player to soccer in and let me tell you when a defender or a winger made a mistake and we're hugging them after the fucking game all goalkeepers start off at centre forwards and then slightly move back and in the end they think that sticking and goal that's the same for defenders as well when you're a kid you don't say I'm going to be at centre half today and what happens we will get on to the other games because there's loads of talking points but just on that City-Arsenal game going in at half time because when they came out of Arsenal you do think I wonder what Arteta said to them because they didn't like exactly come out with chess pushed out giving it let's go they looked a tired team didn't they look like they didn't have any idea how they were going to win the game and City on the other hand they probably watched the first half and thought these are afraid Arsenal are afraid to come out and actually play against they were just passing the ball along the back in their own penalty area come on you've got to try and do something but and then I think he probably just went for the fourth these are there for the taking and that 15-20 minutes after our time City just battered and were brilliant what do you think well not think you've been there what's Sir Alex saying though when you've had games like that where you're not doing swelling was he always sort of shouting or were he ever calm and going Luke lads we're going to fucking I'm sure he'll have a calm I think there's a bit of both with him I think he realised when he needed a real bollocking and a G up and then he obviously realised what he was very good at he'd get his words out aggressively and tell us exactly what he thinks but then he'd go and sit next to me or scold you or whoever it is and have a word about where you need to be what you're doing wrong and it wasn't always the air dryer yeah there was a lot of that but there wasn't always that and I think it had made changes at our time yeah it has changed like that before the games Sarics was brilliant before a big game like a Champions League game or a final it was very very minimum what he said to you it wasn't any it was just like don't have no regrets go out there don't be thinking you can't put your hand on that trophy at the end of the game little niches like that it was really good what he said it was never massive massive information certainly in my time it wasn't any massive information just go out do it all work hard I wasn't great with him as you've known I've concentration you probably got me for a couple of minutes look he made you feel he had a way look you could be a little bit not nervous but not excited going into a game maybe you just had a way of would he spot that?
27:39possibly yeah but it just had a way of getting across to you that you wanted to run through a brick wall for him. I can't tell you exactly how we did it. I remember a couple of team talks and you were always excited about a team talk for a final because you knew it was going to be a little bit different. I can't remember if this one was before 2008 Champions League final. It might have been one of the ones where we got beat by Barcelona in Roma or Wembley. I can't remember. but I've got to feel it was 2008 and he just he almost went round every one of us talking about our families and your upbringing and where you've been so it's called you counsellors today it's been tough life coming up through Patrice Ever he talked to Patrice Ever saying Patrice look at him he's had to fight every single day of his life just to get food just to have food on the table because he had like 25, 26 that's how many brothers he had Patrice really?
28:38yeah so he starts going on about that my life and he goes round everybody saying how tough it must have been as a kid and you think why is he doing that and he's probably trying to take a bit of worry away from you with the game because you think it's probably the biggest game other than the world cup final you can think of and you're thinking he's saying it back to your child where maybe life wasn't at greater times and it was tough look how lucky you are now look at his ear ready to play the Champions League enjoy it enjoy it his best speech for me express yourself it was always express yourself the 96 final against Liverpool knowing they wore the white suits we all go out he must have had his speech in his head and we all go out onto Wembley and he did a walk on the pitch and I don't know why you do but you always do but you suit him and he's come back in he said right sit down he said if you get beat off them lot wearing them fucking suits don't come back in this changing room that was his speech don't come back in this changing room and obviously a little detail after that but that was his main speech and he must have had a speech he must have thought I'm saying that if you come back in this change room getting beat off them wearing them fucking suits don't come back in brilliant I always think his best team talk he used to do it just every now and again might have been once a year once every two years he just used to come in the dressing room because everyone's waiting at half one and it's like a big thing his team talk isn't it you're looking forward to it and the odd time like I say once a year once every two years he'd come in and say look at the person next to you trust him walk out bloody hell and I don't know if he had arse left look to your right probably got an arse running I don't know if he had arse race or something 2.45 at Kempton but he did that every now and again and it was just a big effect on you wow it is amazing but again when you watch football from my side as a fan you always think what you think's going on isn't the case the thing is you can't do that in soccer could have you don't have to say it was a paddy just trust them mate trust the lad next fucking one game and let me tell you I'm glad he said this it's fucking you United lads you I stick up for you I must admit thank you but also as well I was at a photoshoot not long ago no no another one was that the spray time one AI that wasn't the international fitness magazine cover model it wasn't that no it's Abzau an arse horse definitely AI anywho AI innit was as though right I've not seen him for a bit I go over and we're talking about next soccer and he goes I'm surprised they're fucking having you I went I tell you what you go in fucking next against Tevez let's see what you can fucking do do you know what he's a good keeper was he used to go in at training not against him in that game I was just going to say that I thought you'd been left out because I saw a picture of Joe Marley with a goalie key and I thought oh fuck yeah no because I've said this will be my last one I'm still going to be in and around it I think Paddy's been moved to the bench coaching.
31:35You've been retiring? You've been coaching, haven't you? That's what always happens. Are you starting to move to the side? Are you starting to move to the side? No, I've said... 34:0995 million How many more we've got left? You've got 1 2 3 4 5 And 1 2 Mkhitaryan 3 Oh you've already said 1 1 2 3 Are still playing Mkhitaryan No Still playing for United No Yeah Casamero was it it was free Mount could be 60 million 60 million is it nope not at all
34:41Cisco yep 76.5 million hellfire two more two more recent most recent ones really I can't think he played with him oh Emblemo yep 75 million and Cunha 74.2 million you've got two left and they're both centre forwards playing now still? one is one isn't not at United they're still playing football Lukaku yes 84.7 million is that how much he was? this last one again is kind of fits into the Anthony bracket gives you a bit of clue he was crap I've not seen this players crap bombs it didn't work for him forward centre forward where's he at now we'll get him right alright erm 23-24 season counts two years ago one year ago I've gone centre forward yeah United not very successful not very successful my mind's gone blank Shall I give it you?
36:01No Alright Give us a clue Where's he playing now? I fucking just told you What season Where's he playing now? Do you know I don't know Where he's playing now Actually Napoli Oh right Oh that's Ireland Ireland yeah Fucking Ireland 77.8 million 77 God there's some money Gone there There's some money there Well there you go And for you people at home Remember to get yourself over To thatprizeguide.co.uk For the chance to win 500 grand for just 19 pence And the two match tickets United versus Liverpool In the home end Get involved This is the game for me Spurs Forest I'm watching the build up to the game And to be fair to the Spurs fans That was like a cup final It was like a cup final These flurs The coach is coming in All the Spurs players on Now if I'm sat on that coach I'm going get me on that pitch look at this look at the support we've got don't agree with you Paddy I think they've made that game sorry I think they've made that game too big with all this razzmatise it should have been another game it's another game at home against a team that are lower than you go and beat them if they've made it that big of a deal I reckon some of the players have gone under do you know why put that I never thought about it so you're driving in well Scores just mentioned a minute ago no matter how Scores is one of the best ever you drive into a cup final you're going to get a bit nervous a bit of butterflies you don't want to let anyone down whether that's nerves or whatever you want to call it there's something in there that feels it's a big game they've made that game bigger than it actually was and it's fucking stupid because the pressure on them players anyway they're underperforming I think it's 12 games 13 games not one four they could be going to the bottom in the bottom three the manager's not having a great time the fans are down so let's tell you what let's make it a lot bigger than it is should have played it right down and said this is an easy game for the lads go and get these three points and then we're out of the way of it they made it miles bigger than it should have been he's actually got a really good point there I never thought I'm thinking when you watch the game Nicky's point is right it looked he just couldn't couldn't get anything going and do you think it's because you over try if you're not relaxed and you're trying too much you can't play any sport when you're anxious no and the human beings you're going in there and then you go out the game and you never have fireworks or anything like before a game kick off and they go and do it in the game that they have to win and they should be beating Forrest let's forget about the game Forrest were good actually draw against Liverpool win against Atletico Madrid that's his only win isn't it yeah but you're thinking a bit of momentum and then that happens the big M do you know what I still don't think they're going to go down by the way don't you think they get what they deserve Tottenham for what they've done the way they've even sacking Thomas Frank why do that a manager who's got great experience in the Premier League I don't think in a million years they go down if he's wait a minute then they bring someone in who's not got a clue about the Premier League that's the crazy one when you've got a man already there who looks a good man ok he was having a bit of a bad run now if you brought someone in with a bit more experience like you talk about your Harry Redknapp or a top Premier League manager in the past but to change Thomas Frank for somebody who's what they call he's an interim manager in Italy in France nowhere else and I know his records are right weirdly you won't think it now how he's got Spurs playing but if you're bringing an interim manager in you're slipping down the league why not just bring in a Robbie Keane do you know what I mean you'd like to think that they thought about some sort of personality who's loved by the Spurs fans to lift it like Michael's happened at Man United exactly that and certain other interim managers at United as well you've got to lift the crowd that crowd is flat they're going and then when that first goal went in you just knew they're going to get battered because everyone went boom yeah flat here we go again i don't get why they why they brought like they know i agree with scores you can't see the crowds screaming yes we've got one of ours here you know we don't know exactly how it went about it but look he's quite a big man like a big stature and he looks like he's come in like bollocking them all the time now like trying to put a bit of like a sergeant major type of vibe they look like they needed more of a grandad type do you know who I'd go and get because I think obviously Harry's at a certain age and might be not wanting to get involved back into that I don't know but I'd go and get Tim who'd come on our show Tim Sherwood he's got experience with the football club he knows the football club he's managed before and it's what is it six seven games left you've got to get someone who's got a connection with Tottenham whoever that is I think Harry definitely I think he's snapped the round off do you think he'd do it almost in the way Martin O 'Neill went to Celtic I know he went a bit perished up yesterday but I think he'd be very similar to that what about Harry and again and it's crazy oh Harry and Tim yeah that's what I was just going to say that's what I was going to say yeah and they both go in there knowing they're not going to get the job you're not going to get next season you're not going to get you're not going to get the players but keeping them up is a great yeah you're not going to get the players any better you're not going to get the players any fitter so what have you got to get you've got to get an atmosphere within that changing room and you've got to translate that onto the pitch and bring the fans on board that's what you've got to do as an interim manager they bloody brought in the rugby team was getting slagged off before they even took No one knew him.
41:24He's got no connection to Tottenham. He's got no connection to the Premier League. It's just an insane... Do we think they'll sack him? International break, no? I mean, it's really sad what happened to him and his family. It's a terrible weekend for him. It's really sad. No one ever wishes that on anybody. I think if I was him now, I think I'd be having chats just going, it's not working. Let's just shake hands and walk away. Well, you don't know what's happening behind the scenes. like when you two have told me things about like that team talk if you get beat off these and that and them suits right as simple as that maybe training and round the ground maybe it's been going alright it's just they're just not doing he might actually have a not alright bond with them that goes back to the pressure that's being put on them at a game so any game at the minute we've lost 13 games or whatever it is not won 13 games the pressure's there anyway so why adding more pressure onto it then players are quite obviously going under I've had the experience at Newcastle when we was at the bottom and getting relegated you see some of the players they shrivel up and go oh no I don't want the ball as soon as you've got two players in your team of 11 ducking it and not going to receive the ball or not handling the pressure of the fans on you as soon as two go under you're guaranteed two or three players are going to be off a day off the ball anyway so that's five six maybe you can't win football matches you have to have everybody up for the fight and up for the challenge and it's difficult down there it's actually horrible because We can only speculate the way he's gone about, and we don't know behind the scenes.
42:55Just when you look at him, you just think he probably might have been a little bit too aggressive. Yeah, he doesn't seem like having a laugh type of guy, does he? No, and we talk about changing, it's not always as simple as doing that. You spoke about Robbie Keane, and Robbie Keane, what he's done in Ferenc Varos, is that how you say it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's done a brilliant, brilliant job, but he's in a... He did all right in Israel as well. Yeah, he did, yeah, but he's in a solid job there, so if Tottenham comes to say, look, there's 10 games in the season, why would he do that he'd want two and a half years he'd want three and a half years yeah and he's in a job yeah couldn't get out of it he's in a solid job so I'll tell you what happened when we was at Newcastle we had a lot of six seven managers come and go and they brought I know he's a god up there they brought Kevin and Kevin Keevan back honest to God they didn't come back as manager when I was there the fans you couldn't not you couldn't hear yourself think it was like not only that in training didn't get you running around it just everything was fun everything was sharp short passing head tennis competition just a genuinely nice fellow come round chat to put your arm around you lovely guy but more importantly he knew that football club and he knew the feeling that the fans want and the way now I'm not saying someone could go and do that at Spurs but someone did he do alright when he came back I think we went about six games it was just the bounce effects and ours it was obviously Kevin King had got up there but someone like that at Tottenham whoever it might be a Les Ferdinand or a Tim Schitt so an ex-player that's Harry Redknapp yeah Harry Redknapp Yeah, it is.
44:19But I'm saying if he doesn't take it, which you're saying he would, why would he not do it? Because they are that far from losing 150 million quid getting relegated. So you just go and make Harry whatever he wants. And the rest. The thing for me with Spurs, and I don't really keep across them as a club, but the one thing I used to see all the time with Spurs was the fans kicking off about Daniel Levy, right? That was always the thing. It was always him. And I used to think, Jesus, what's going on with him at this club? And now he's gone, they could get relegated. That's what I'm saying. So, like, literally, fantastic new stadium.
44:58And training complex. Yeah. And I wouldn't say it's like an awful team. I know they've got a lot of injuries, but you're going like, what has happened at Spurs? That is a brilliant football club. They get the right manager in, obviously, next season. If they stay up, get the right manager in and get them injuries back, they'll finish in the top half easily next year. Easily. Yeah. Easily. Spring is here and the shopping list is long. 46:57Yeah but you've been there I've been there I've been there when it's been good I've been there when it's been bad When I was there with TNT for the Man United game the atmosphere was unbelievably good I was telling people there I said what's all the talk about with no atmosphere at the London Stadium and he was saying like sometimes it's just completely dead it's so far away from the pitch obviously when they're playing bad it's not great but when it was good it was really but compared to the old one it's right tight in that was horrendous to play at and I remember going there with obviously Man United and Newcastle you never enjoyed playing at West Ham never never you could win it was always horrendous and horrible and then you go into these new stadiums like the London Stadium and Tottenham Stadium they're beautiful to go and play at like you'd enjoy going and playing there wouldn't you you'd look forward to going and playing with Everton's new ground as well.
47:42Everton played Chelsea, didn't they? Yeah, I'm three now. Yeah. Talk to me about the huddle again. Did they do it again? Yeah. Did they do it? What, around the sense spot? Did they do it again? No. See, no, that's... I didn't actually see it, but I heard on the radio they did. I'm pretty sure they did. I mean, it's... I'm pretty sure they did. That's a thing now. That's suckable a thing to that. And that, to me, is where they're just doing it now, going, oh, we can't not not do it now, because it looks like everyone's got on our backs. I mean it's respectable respectable and when we said when we're seeing you got the job and we're all saying like he speaks well and I'm like oh he's got this but he's coming out with a few little whoppers at the minute absolute whoppers yeah and do you know what I'm pretty sure he's an intelligent lad but he didn't have he'd done nothing to get that job had he do you know what I mean now look we all want English managers they're connected with that team though aren't they the owners and what have you that's not enough to be manager of Chelsea no I'm not do you Chelsea are a club who should be trying to win the league in European yeah do you think do you think if Frank gets promotion with Coventry they go back in for Frank because he got it too early the first time I think and he had the the transfer embargo on him didn't he so they had a lot to have all the young players remember they had Mason Mount from Derby on loan and a certain other players on loan it wouldn't be the stupid thing to go and get Frank Lampard back in charge of Chelsea for me because he's obviously doing a great job at Coventry and obviously the club it's like you say it's experience isn't it experience and you know he probably made a few mistakes but people got to understand that that transfer in bag when you can't go and buy players and you've got to rely on loads of young players that must have been difficult he did be a different manager now he's totally different managers yeah but look at difference and just with that point Curric at Middlesbrough you know he made mistakes but now United you know you make them mistakes and you go right well this is what I'm going to do some players that really top players would struggle playing in the championship because of different football they're struggling in league one and they're talking top, top players.
Read the full transcript
49:38I would. Yeah, you're talking top players. They can go and play a bit like mine. Is it because you're used to like a certain pitch, certain way of playing? What's the difference? No, you're on the same wavelength. You've got to find people to play on the same wavelength as you. So you'll pass the ball ahead. I see it in League 2. But the opposing team play a certain way you're used to as well as opposed to what they play in Championship. Not so much. I think it's more your little wavelength of your team play. So if I'm receiving a ball from Scoles here, I know he's not passing it to me here when I'm stood still.
50:05He'll pass it to me two or three yards ahead of me so I can come on to it. Just little things like that. And when you watch lower league players, no disrespect to them, they don't do that. And I think managers will be the same. Now they're working now, Michael and obviously Frank went back to Chelsea. They're working with higher graded players, if you like. So that's a lot easier to coach and get the message across to more technical players, if you like, in a Premier League. Sorry, so you're saying it's easier to manage Premier League players than Championship and League One? I think so, yeah.
50:34I would I genuinely would I wouldn't say easier listen it's not easy I'm not sitting here no no I'm not saying you're saying it's easy I'm just saying I think Michael an example with Michael would be he's at Middlesbrough and let's be honest he failed because his job was to get him up so whether he did well or not that's immaterial he failed however now he's gone to Man United he's playing with a calibre of players sorry coaching a calibre of players that are a lot higher than the Middlesbrough squad yeah suppose it'd be like fact back in the day manager of Real Madrid when they all the Galactica So if you're a jockey...
51:04Managers are on the good as the players have been. Yeah, if you're a jockey and you're going to sit on that horse, and I'm not into horse racing, but stick out that horse there who's not that great but you go on that one, you're surely going to be better on that one. So now you're coaching better players. And I think, going back to my original thing, if Frank went back into Chelsea, now after all his experience at Chelsea first time round, at Derby, then Chelsea, now in Coventry where it looks like they're going to get a promotion, to go back to Chelsea with a transfer budget to go and buy any players who want that fits in, I think he'd do an amazing job I really do could be a good shirt there could be a good shirt there as long as you don't respect the ball every kick off then it would be alright yeah that'll be quickly gone wouldn't it that'll be a couple of the players in that team who have got a bit of influence in the dressing room when we're doing this and the rest have gone with it because I reckon some of them players are probably thinking feels a bit eggy this did they actually go around the actual centre spot again I think so I wish the FA just said getting your own half like he was saying about Arsenal's warming up let's park up the Premier League let's get on to Ingerland no Thomas Tuchel named an extended 35 man squad by the way is this just me that's a bit outrageous there's a lot there have we got in it I think I'm third choice keeper 33rd that's at the soccer age I don't think you'd be 33rd alone third fucking hell do you know what do you know what I think it's very very clever what he's done I do I think he's very very clear we moan as footballers as pundits as fans it's unfair because the Premier League season's so long so many games every time we get a team together they're all knackered in the start he knows at least the 11 that are definitely going by an injury so why drag them all the way around up and down the motorways you stay home for the first is it the first game or second game they're staying home first game they report on the Saturday yeah you stay home have a rest have your family time get your mind right come for the second one because I know I'm taking news not many managers in the past have had a boss to do that and that goes to what Scores was saying a few podcasts ago he is the boss he knows exactly what he wants and what he's doing I think he's a genius he doesn't bow for anyone he doesn't bow no he's brilliant I know he doesn't bow for anyone but just we're saying 35 man squads or a lot of players what is the thing we're like Trent that's an edge scratcher for me but also as well why don't you just take Welbeck like he's having a great season I think I honestly do think he's been really clever with that 11 he's staying at home with sport like that but the rest of them they're on trial Welbeck's not on trial he knows what Danny's got Danny will have a go as a sub an impact player or he won't so why bring Danny to that to see what he can do he knows exactly what Danny can do I love Danny Welbeck but would I have a 34 year old 35 year old as a sub probably not it's very hard to have an impact when you're that age Oli Watkins surprises me Oli Watkins will but again I think he's the perfect sub I don't think he'll moan I think he'll be great around the camp I think everyone will because Harry Kane they know he's going to be the number nine but he's done it before Watkins as well in a tournament that's the biggest surprise for me As a player when you're in an international team just looking at Harry Kane would he have would he have meetings with Tuchel to say like I really I prefer playing with that player not to say I'm making the choice because we know that doesn't happen but would Tuchel think well I know how he likes playing with him and he's would that sort of sway his decision a bit about who he takes I don't think the players will have an influence look he can see connections himself can't he he doesn't need to ask a player do you like playing with this person look I don't think that happens Thomas Tuchel's brilliant I love listening to him everything he says it just makes sense doesn't it like Nicky said he doesn't bow for anybody I think it's brilliant what's the crack is it certain managers just don't have certain players what is the thing with Trent Alexander-Arnold he probably doesn't fancy him as the player that he wants in that position he may be not like the full back that's just a ball player he might want so if we talk about Nico Riley who's going to start where you think he'll start he's the one that steps in he might want a more secure right back who sits in yeah but do you know to your point about that Spurs situation with all the fans come out and it's like oh it gets to them you're in a World Cup he's a player to me for me Trent is a great player obviously but you know what he's won and what he's been around he's missed a lot of the season don't forget so he's not played a lot of football look he's still got time if Real Madrid if he's playing every game for Real Madrid and he's going to win the Champions League he's probably going to have every chance of going in who's the right backs he's got Livramento and he's got Jed Spence now he's much better on the ball as them two of course he is but defensively he's just not up to that level and that's Tuchel sounds like that midfield thing you can't have Nicole like Riley and him playing so you've got to pick one because one's going to go in there and one's going to go round here and it'll be a three and then it'll be like Rhys James would be the one but again he just can't take it because of his injuries Hot off the press Ben White's been called up this morning we've just got that through on the old iPad-y I hope he doesn't have to play against Jericho again I don't know What do you think about that?
56:23Again ahead of Trent You don't know you might have picked a phone with Trent and said look i'm not putting you in this squad but you've had so many injuries get yourself fit and go in at real madrid and you're going to be in the squad you just don't know do you second guessing but i i'm unsure about why why trans not in here i understand why he's not starting it's been like in previous squads discipline might might have been a problem we've just seen at real madrid he's been left out because he was like a training or whatever it looks like german yeah if anyone's late for a meeting yeah yeah do you ever think just what you're saying about how much he's played this season and how it's gone at Real Madrid.
56:59Do you ever think he'll lie there? No, it sounds mad saying this when you're playing for Real Madrid. Do you think, maybe I should have stuck with Liverpool and gone on to create a massive legacy? It'd be different if Liverpool were flying in Premier League and going about to win the Premier League in the last stages of, obviously they are in Europe, but no, he's not going to regret it. He might have tiny doubts because it's not gone great for him yet, has it? He's still probably signed a five-year contract. he could win the Champions League this year but Liverpool could win it also so you just no I think he'd be happy with what he's done he won't be happy with the way it's gone so far obviously because of injuries and look Carvajal he's got to get past Carvajal one of the best right-backs for the last 15 years yeah oh do you think again this is like me getting excited one of you two said it might have been you Scholesy you said about it gave me goosebumps I thought I believe we were going to do it you were sort of tipped England to do it I'm sure you did win the World Cup yeah yeah yeah I still believe do you know what that was about two months ago I think about that I'm not as confident as I was but I still think they've got a great chance don't worry me in the minute everyone's talking about these four or five number tens we've got none of them are really performing that well at the minute you think of Cole Palmer Phil Foden Eze in little bits and I think Morgan Rogers has probably been the best consistent one the most consistent the best out of all of them so far so but there's still plenty of time to go isn't there and there's still three months to go to find a bit of form but the form of them flair players as you like is starting to concern me a little bit I've not got the goosebumps anymore they've gone away no I still think they've got a great chance come on England this time right bit of fun we're going to talk about here we go fishing Gaelic football Gaelic football together on my pitch we're going to talk about the Premier League Mount Rushmore four players to start you off I've personally I've been thinking about this and it's you're always you're always you're always you're always yeah it's JJ I've got you Kevin Day so what I've done it's so difficult and then you go oh yeah forgot about it oh no that so I've just kept with English players right that's obviously it's been Ronaldo all this but I've just kept with yeah well alright we'll get on to it in a minute I know that's from the same it's too difficult so I'm just keeping it where I'm going right if I think about all grown talent just name your fucking four please just setting up my stall first because I know what happens with you two but you have to think about the Premier League it's global innit do you know what I mean so you can't just think yeah but nobody no you can well let me give you my points number one you've gone a bit deeper just carving it in there big Alan Shearer yeah you can't disagree yeah no that record's not going to even if Eric Kane comes back I can't see him beating that records always get beat they'll get beat one day do you think what was it 280 goals I also think when he played Alan Shearer, this is just my opinion, it was harder to score.
1:00:29No, I think it was easier to score. No. Not with the style of defenders and everything else. A lot of teams want to defend that. No defenders have been talking about that for the last two hour and a half. No defenders no more. They're all number 10s, get pushed back. Alan Shearer's on the... No, this is where it gets a bit tricky because my next three, are all fucking midfielders. That's all right. Gerrard. Yeah. Him. P. Scholes. Him. Him. Lampard. Putting Lampard before Keane. Oh, English. English players. This is why I had to put the big explanation where you're going, fucking get on with it.
1:01:12I know, but I'm falling asleep. It's taken that long. Yours is taking that long. If I hadn't explained it, you'd have done all that. Now what are you doing? All right. So I'm saying Scholes, Lampard Gerrard that's it but purely on English players I was going to do a spinal team but I've changed your mind can I just say one last thing to his point and all when you say about Premier League Global I think those three players even though you were one of them talking as though he's not here did that for world football because I was thinking about Beckham and all but I thought no no no those three do you know interesting you speak about that many people talk about us three don't they who drives you up the wall but I reckon if Tuchel was manager they'd have left one of us out probably me why what makes you say that because we never worked together did it and I don't think he'd have fucked up out with it Tuchel oh wow bloody hell anyhow you're still on I've chiselled you in chiselled me in chiselled you in right what's your tactics I was going to do a spice or defender sorry goalkeeper defender midfield and forward oh I like this that's what I was going to do I like this you two have given a lot of thought you two haven't you I need five no no no you can't just fucking stick on an extra bit of Rushmore it's four that's it it's not real fucking Rushmore can you not have half of one head and half of another head to make it four the reason why I'm saying that is I can't split Shearer and Henry I don't know who you picked with them how can you alright well let's start with you Schmeichel right
1:02:48Has he Has he collapsed What's happened He's going to play it Schmeichel Rio Right okay Keen And then I can't split Are you going Rio If you're on about A Mount Rushmore Premier League There's no Defender What about Like a Tony Adams Yeah I just think Rio's done more In the game than him You've had 2-4 I do Are you two allowed To say something But I can't say Fuck all about yours fucking hell everyone can have a go at mine and that guy can't say anything about yours Michael Rio Keane and then split the head Shearer and Henri I can't split them two it's just impossible to split them two for what them two did for the Premier League Henri was just phenomenal and Shearer for a phenomenal goal it's really difficult do you know and again Henri's one of the greats but the reason I put Shearer ahead of Henri is the teams he were in but I think Henry is possibly the best Premier League player ever I do what over Ronaldo Ronaldo only played three years you've got to put him in then haven't you yeah then you look at Scherer's record but Ronaldo do you know what I mean about Newcastle and Blackburn no but Ronaldo who won the most but Ronaldo Henry or Scherer yeah I know that but Ronaldo is an unbelievable footballer he was only really great in the Premier League for three years I'd say how long was he here for running I think I might be wrong but I think it's three years yeah so I'll go Henri then I'll go Henri so I'll go Smychel Rio Keane Henri right you give it a lot of thought lovely stuff I was just going to choose what I see as iconic Premier League footballers that's not the fucking that's not the brief is it Jack well it is a little bit what's the brief Jack Rushmore it's your mountain isn't it we've all got our own mountains I was split my life you can't do that I'm not sure the brief was to like have a spine of a team as well was that the brief no it wasn't no I don't think so it was Premier League all time great Mount Rushmore it wasn't like give us all your this is well I don't want to stick fucking manager on back at Mount Teele we should have a manager we should have a manager we should have a manager we should have a manager I agree Roy Keane Ryan Giggs yeah Wayne Rooney I was going to stop you before you say I was going to say it's quite a fucking Red Mountain this well the Red Mountain won a lot of Premier League trophies Oh, we're going to get battered again.
1:05:14Scored a lot of goals. Scored a lot of goals. Scored a lot of goals. Martin Keogh wasn't as if I'm going mad at you again. You've got a lot of goals. Keane. Sorry, who else then? Runa. Yeah. Thierry Henry. Fuck me. But it's like this. You said it all joking aside. You said before, it's impossible. It's impossible. Fucking stupid, these quizzes. Stop doing them. It's not a quiz. It's not a quiz, that, is it? Well. I'm not going. I think it's quite easy, that. no you can't how can you pick Gerard Gerard's not in it Gerard's not in it it's like personal choice and it's only because I've played with Roy so many times but I could have either picked Scholes I could have picked Gerard hey that's the point you're not on his mountain thought you two were fucking best mates and all the rest of it no because we know there's better players you know that I can't sit here and go he's fucking I can't say Gerard is any better than Scholes or Keane I can't say Scholes is better it's the three of them with like if you look at someone like Lampa as well and his goals Lampard was unbelievable when you're talking about Rushmore you've got to think about people that have won Premier Leagues you've got to do do you know what I take into account as well if they're a good role model and I always think those players I know it's not I know it's boring what like George Bess you mean he's not on me Rushmore I'm on about my players now he's not Premier League that's why name your four players oh yeah right I was a good role model yeah let me right you Lampard Gerrard and Shearer you think about those four players again it sounds mad because you sat here but I'm talking about you those four players the careers they've had I honestly couldn't tell you anything outside of football anything about their lives or anything because conducted the self well on and off the pitch before Ryan Giggs he's won 13 England players but that wasn't that wasn't the fucking he wasn't having a spine of a team either he wasn't he's got Schmeichel he's got a goalkeeper on which I'm not sorry to answer it can we your Premier League Mount Rushmore he said it there look Premier League surely you've got to win Premier League to be the best player well you've got to be the best players I suppose well everyone in my team has won a Premier League by the way not mention Cantona go on then say that again oh no sorry Stevie G alright yeah I'll give you that that's why England plays I thought right alright well I'll stick with England because it's far too different name the toughest sports here like you know toughest sports hang on sitting down I'm still fishing eh oh I've got a right sweat on here alright well what about Zola what about him you've never like you're talking if you go right back and look at Premier League fantastic unbelievable player but he's not a mount did they win the Premier League Giggs, or?
1:08:11No. Like you said, Ryan Giggs won 13 Premier Leagues. Roy Keane was the leader of a team for seven Premier Leagues. Right. Henry must have won a few. Has anyone got some cotton bods and some olive oil? Because these two's fucking ears are clearly blocked up. Giggs is not on it. Roy Keane's not on it. Because they're not English. That's not the brief. That's not the brief. It wasn't a spine of a team either. I didn't say it was cotton bods. And it wasn't, let's all put fucking United players on the list either Henry's in it he played in red so he can't get away from the colour red right shall we do the outro fucking hell I need a piece Jesus Christ I wonder if I could do anything with you and just go oh yeah that's alright they like a bit of banter that's alright we like a little bit of fucking hell Paddy what you're doing do you not like yeah I like your 40 lovely really good no do you want us to Henry's fucking yeah you made it hard for yourself of just going English.
1:09:09Well, no, I kept it quite simple. You two just started throwing pelters at me. Anyhow. You're always more of a hill rush mode than a mount rush mode. Quite funny that I gave him that. The Good, The Bad & The Football is back with another brilliant episode. Paul, Nicky and Paddy kick things off with Manchester City’s League Cup win over Arsenal, with Scholesy calling it a “victory for football”. But where did it go wrong for Arsenal? Scholesy argues that Kepa Arrizabalaga’s mistake distracted from just how poor Arsenal were overall and questions whether they have the flair to play expansive football, while Nicky believes the Gunners are simply panicking in their pursuit of a trophy. They also reflect on a brilliant day for Nico O'Reilly, but how did his 21st birthday really compare to Paddy’s?
Attention then turns to Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, with Nicky suggesting Spurs fans made the occasion too big before a ball was kicked. The lads debate whether Igor Tudor has come in too hard on the squad, and discuss how Tottenham can still salvage their season, but who could they turn to to drag them away from trouble. Nicky reflects on how Kevin Keegan’s return once revitalised Newcastle United, while they weigh up whether Liam Rosenior was fortunate to land the Chelsea job and if Frank Lampard could one day return.
There’s a chat on the latest England squad. The lads question the absence of Danny Welbeck and Ollie Watkins, and tackle why Trent Alexander-Arnold has fallen from favour, while Scholesy raises concerns about the form of England’s No.10s, including Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham, while also revealing which one of himself, Steven Gerrard and Lampard he thinks Thomas Tuchel would have dropped back in the day.
Finally, things descend into chaos as the lads attempt to name their Mount Rushmore of Premier League legends. Paddy goes for a full English, Scholesy leans heavily towards Manchester United… and it all gets very heated.
