0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Don't fight it. It's time to go up a size. This is the biggest, biggest, biggest, biggest, biggest show. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. That's right, it is the Hauraki Big Show with Keyzie, Mike and Jase and Pugsan as well. However, everyone's away, all right? They've taken a couple of days off. They've extended their long labor weekend, and the big show will be back in full come Tuesday. We've got plenty of good stuff on today's show, however. A couple of chances to win some great power tools, thanks to our mates at ITM.

0:40Mike Minogue:One coming up very soon, so get ready to call 0800-HAURAKI. Plus, after 5 o 'clock, Grammy award-winning producer, great New Zealander Joel Little is coming in to have a chat. He has worked with some of the biggest names in music. We're talking Lord, of course, Khalid, Taylor Swift. The list goes on. Give him a Google. He's a genuine, almost like a Taika Waititi, but of the music world. He's popping in after five. Bloody excited to have a yarn with him. And also huge news happening around the country, of course, with horrific winds striking around Wellington, around Wairarapa. Also Canterbury too.

1:16Mike Minogue:I'm supposed to be flying down to Canterbury at 8.30 p.m. tonight. I'll then be emceeing a wedding tomorrow at 3 p.m. So don't currently have a backup plan. I am just hoping that the winds sort of ease off as we get closer to the evening. Strong wind warning in place until 4 p.m. with gusts forecast to reach 140 kilometers an hour. Big shout out to anyone who's dealing with any of the fallout from this. We've had trees being blown over. We've had roofs, torn off houses. It's not bloody good, is it? Tell you what is bloody good. Bit of Pearl Jam, even flow. Oh, and of course, how can I forget? The Hodaki Big Show is brought to you by Reburger.

1:55Jason Hoyte:Reburger.

2:00Mike Minogue:The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hodaki. It is the doors, writers on the storm on Radio Hodaki. Thursday afternoon, you've got Keezy, and joining me in the studio right now is also old Pugsan. Hello. How you going, man?

2:12Jason Hoyte:I'm good, man. How are you?

2:13Mike Minogue:Yeah, good, man. Just the fellas here, man. Just the boys, man. Jason Michael away, man.

2:18Jason Hoyte:You're just hanging out with the boys? It's just you boys.

2:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's cool, eh? Yeah, it's sick.

2:25Jason Hoyte:You've got a best of moment for us, man. What have you got? I do, I do. I've been in the archives. I've been sifting away there, but not in a hoity J way. Right. In a Pugs Records kind of way. Right. You know what I mean? And I thought this one was appropriate first because when it originally aired in 2022. Wow. Old. Maybe early 2023. Jase was coming in hot into the office from a Hoity J strange encounter just out the door there on the way in.

2:55Mike Minogue:Is this the one where things go into slow motion? It just might be. Jase, I understand that something freaky, freaky happened to you on the way to work today. Mate, jeez. Jeez Louise. I parked in my normal park there in Sky City. Because you pop in before work, don't you? Yeah, yeah. Little tiddo on the Queen of the Nile. Ching, ching, ching, ching, ching. Queen of the Nile, she's a pretty harsh mistress. Oh, she is the old Queen of the Nile, no question about it. Anyway, so I was at the lights there and I heard this. Ah!

3:30Jason Hoyte:Ah! Ah! What was it? That was a woman screaming. Oh, is that a woman? Yeah, yeah. Ah! You see, I can do all sorts of voices and accents, Mike, and languages, but I can never do the female very well, you know? But anyway. That's what I hear. And so she was looking up. Dadoosh. Dadoosh. Oh, Ninder.

3:55And I look up to the apartment building there and there's a window cleaner. Oh, naked. Oh, no, he's totally clothed, but he's dangling by one foot by a rope and he was about 20 feet up. 20 feet? No, sorry. Jeez. 20 metres. About 20 storeys up. Stories. That's higher. And this crowd sort of gathered around, and he was just dangling by one foot, screaming his head off. He was screaming like a woman. No, well, he was more sort of, oh, oh, help, help. Help. And I sort of looked up, and there was this crowd there, and I was like, I don't know what happened. I was just, whoosh.

4:35And I just started sprinting. My mind just sort of took over, and I was up the stairs, mate. Dadoosh, dadoosh, up the stairs. Are you punching the stairs? Just going full tit up the stairs. And I reckon I did about sort of 20 stories in about, Paul. 30 seconds, mate. Yeah, sounds about right. Got to where the floor level was. Yeah. Sort of, you know, got through this door and there were people making love. And I was like, excuse me, excuse me, emergency, emergency. Got out in the balcony and just leapt. Before I even thought about it, just leapt. Grabbed hold of the rope, just clung onto the rope.

5:11Managed to lift him out. You know what it was like, lift him up sort of horizontal to me, and you remember what it was like when you were a kid on a swing and it was static? Yeah. Did the old Archie back. Thrusty. Thrusty. Thrusty. Thrusty. Archie. Archie. He was sitting on your lap. And he was on my lap, just thrusting. Swung us back to the balcony, mate, and fortunately it all sort of, it all turned out okay. But hell of a way to start the afternoon. I can go. I'm a bit puff, to be honest. It's lucky I'd been working out that morning. Was he pretty grateful? Oh, he was kind of indifferent, really.

5:47Yeah. Yeah, he didn't really seem to care that much. Yeah, because often those guys will hang from those ropes if they're cleaning somewhere that's particularly hard to get. Oh, right, you think I might have been deliberate? Well, man. Actually, when I think about it, actually, when I pull him up and stuff, he's like, what the f*** are you doing? Yeah. Dadoosh, dadoosh. What's that? You know, I just risked my life to save you. And he's dedicating me. Well, this is a little word of wisdom that I came up with. Look before you leap. Let's write that down for us, Keezy. Keezy, that's bloody good, mate.

6:24Mike Minogue:Capital letters for that one. Yes, Jase, he is a national treasure, partly because of his broadcasting prowess, but mostly because of the amount of lives that he has saved. This is Oasis Champagne Supernova. Just a reminder, the big show will be back in full on Tuesday after Labor weekend. Another reminder, if you would like to win a fantastic power tool thanks to ITM, give us a call now on 0800 Hauraki. I'll test your memory. What tool will I win? A Hikoki 18-volt brushless OIS multi-tool valued at 720 bucks. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

7:08Mike Minogue:the big show's toolbox top up with itm that's right this october and november itm have got a hell of a lot of tools on sale exclusive deals you won't find anywhere else it is their toolbox top up sale and to celebrate they've given us over ten thousand dollars worth of power tools to give away if you want to win it you just have to listen out you call us an o800 hodaki and if you can remember five of the ten tools that i list off you get that power tool and they're being extra generous today. They've given us two power tools to give away. So I'll be doing this again a little later on. Let's go to the line and see who we've got.

7:43Mike Minogue:Ollie, you mad bastard. How's it going? Yeah, pretty good and yourself? Yeah, good, mate. Where are you calling from? From Auckland, brother. Nice, nice, bro. What do you do for a crust, man? I'm a window washer. Ah, backbone. What's your secret, man? What product do you use? Just a bit of Windex. Windex, you reckon? Yeah, sweet as and like a brush and like a squeegee or? Yeah, a bit of ammo, good on elbow grease. Yeah, good on you, mate, good on you. How's your memory as well? Oh, it's pretty average, but we'll give it a shot, eh? Hell yeah, baby. So how this works, mate, I'm going to list off 10 tools.

8:21Mike Minogue:You just have to remember five of those tools in 15 seconds, all right? Yep, sounds good. All right, let's do this thing. Here we go. Angle drill, impact wrench, chode planer, drill driver, turd hammer, Multi-tool, angle grinder, pug sander, blower, chainsaw. Your time starts now. Angle drill, pug sander, blower, impact wrench, toad planer, chainsaw. Oh, bro, you got six of them. Well done, man. Oh, cheers. You can officially tell everyone, Ollie from Auckland, that your memory is impeccable, man. You've won yourself that Power Tool Bro. and just a reminder that tool is a Hikoki 18 volt brushless OAS multi-tool with a battery and charger kit and that's valued at$722.

9:13Mike Minogue:I've got to thank this one Zay, thank you very much. Yeah, thank you very much ITM. Thank you Oli, I'll chuck you on hold man, I'll pug-san, I'll sort you out alright. Oh, you're a legend. Bloody ripper, another chance to win a power tool a little later on in the show. Your best bet is to continue listening and when you hear me say so, give us a call straight away on 0800 Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki The Cranberries there, Zombie on the Hauraki Big Show You've got Keezy with you this Thursday afternoon Jace and Mike will be back on Tuesday after the long weekend And of course another big shout out to anyone dealing with the weather issues Currently hitting New Zealand 90 ,000 homes have had their roofs ripped off, Pugs 90 ,000?

9:55Mike Minogue:Oh no, sorry, I misread that 90 ,000 homes without power Sorry What that was is a little lesson on the dangers of broadcasting And not really just confirming your facts Before you say them on air

10:06Jason Hoyte:It's almost like a relief moment for people Because it's like oh my god the roofs have come off That's right But no it's just power Yeah without power

10:14Mike Minogue:It sucks It sucks because their radios won't be plugged in Which means they can't hear us absolutely giving it death on Hauraki

10:23Jason Hoyte:Hey which best of bit have you got for us today man? Today a whole bunch man Remember this one right now, if there's one thing that the Big Show's done for, it's being in touch with our feminine sides. And if there's one thing that the fellas know how to do, it's celebrate all the mothers in our lives. Hey, how'd your mother's day go, Mogey? I talked to my mum briefly in the morning. She had a bridge tournament because she's in her mid-70s, so she plays bridge. Dominates, actually. Dominates. So it was a very brief chat with her. And then what did we do for the old missus there? and there. Flowers, obviously.

10:58Yes. Oh, did you? Okay. I got some flowers. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Got some flowers. Breakfast in bed for me.

11:07Mike Minogue:She made you breakfast in bed. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, you know, because. Well, it's Sunday, so. Yeah, yeah. But usually. Sunday's my day. Did she bring the paper and the coffee in as well? Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. The paper, so we get the paper delivered to the house. We get the ho-ho. Yeah. And actually, we had some cinnamon eels as well. Cinnamon wheel. I said, I'll have a cinnamon wheel, thanks. She's like, oh, there's only one left. I thought I could have that because it's Mother's Day. I'd like the cinnamon roll. Thank you. And that was about it. She made some noises about wanting to go out for dinner, something, something, something.

11:41But I wanted to go and get on the hammer, which I did. Yeah, nice. That's nice, man. I spoke to my mum too, actually. God, she goes on. Just blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I miss you and I'd love to see the kids and how come you never visit me? And she's deteriorating mentally as well. So I've got God knows what she's crapping on about. You know what I mean? And, you know, broke her head again. I do tend to tune out. Yeah, and she's forever losing her teeth. You know what I mean? And carrying on. It's like, Mum, I don't know. You look down the other end of the country. How am I going to find your teeth?

12:12Exactly. You know what I mean? Didn't you put her down there? Just blab it. This is a funny thing. Everyone's like, you know, her place isn't safe for her anymore. Right. She's always breaking her hip and losing her teeth and falling over. Beep, beep, beep on the alarm there. Because you said the floor at her house is on the piss, eh? Oh, look, she's living in the family home and it's a shithole. Right. And it's two-story as well, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, bedrooms on the second level. And so all her friends are saying, oh, you've got to move her out, you've got to do this. Mate, have you seen the price of retirement homes?

12:39Well, the thing about Liz... Not on my watch, she's not. The thing is I don't so much mind the cost, you know, because it means she's going to be well looked after. So the problem is every penny spent on her care is a penny out of my inheritance. Exactly, Moggy. Well, I mean, that's probably not. That is exactly my point is that all I see is her bank balance. Dadooosh, dadooosh, dadooosh. Right, but she means your mum, you know. Poiny J's, you know, inheritance. Dadooosh, dadooosh, dadooosh, dadooosh. I've got some serious bills to pay, Moggy. You've got to find a balance. Yeah, totally. You probably don't think about yourself.

13:09You know, and you're just, oh, and I see someone doing poos and that stuff. You know, it's just like, oh, yeah. That's when you need close family Because I get the family in the area To sort of sort it out You only ring me twice a year But have you heard the shit you talk about

13:23Mike Minogue:Right yeah Do you want to know what I did for my mum? What's that mate? I saw Mon last night at the gig She's looking fantastic Thanks mate So I cooked her bacon and eggs for brekkie Gave her a diffuser Nice little lime and coconut Your mum? Yeah flavoured diffuser there Your mum or your missus? My mum Yeah, your missus isn't a mum? No, my mum. This is my mum. Mon. What was your... You sure it wasn't? Gave her a diffuser and get her breakfast. Nebuliser. She was staying the night. You can't get a nebuliser outside of a doctor's office. Oh, right, okay. You can actually now, Keezy. Right, have you looked into it?

14:00Yeah, yeah, because we were a bit worried you were getting a bit wheezy the last time you were on here.

14:04Mike Minogue:So I cooked her breakfast, gave her a diffuser, which is real nice, and then a couple of tickets to... Does she get a bit wheezy as well? No. The diffuser? No, diffusers just to make the places smell nice. Oh, God. Yeah, it's a good idea. It's money. What else? And then a couple of tickets to the old Keezy stand-up show. But they were free. Well, yeah, but she doesn't need to know that. Good on you, mate. Yeah. Good on you, mate. Thanks, fellas. Good on you, mate. The Big Show back in full come Tuesday. Just a little update on my situation. I am flying out to Christchurch this evening, 8.30 p.m.

14:36Mike Minogue:I've just seen a couple of flights have, in fact, landed at Christchurch Airport with the wind and whatever happening. Larger planes, though. The smaller ones seem to be getting postponed. So fingers crossed I will be at that wedding tomorrow. Here's Radiohead. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Give Me Shelter, The Rolling Stones. One of my favourite albums of all time. Let it bleed. It is Friday. No, it's not. It's Thursday. It's Thursday afternoon on The Big Show. It's Friday for you, man. It's Friday for me because I'm going down to Canterbury tonight, hopefully, if weather permitting, emceeing a wedding tomorrow and Jason and Mike are off and they'll be back Tuesday.

15:11Mike Minogue:So long story short, big show back in full on the Tuesday. Short story short, Pugs is in because we're going to chat TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

15:26Mike Minogue:Yes. Yes. Now Pugs. Hello. Last night after the show, you went and watched the brand new Bruce Springsteen biopic. I did. How was it?

15:39Jason Hoyte:You know what, man? It was a movie for sure. It was a piece of movie. It was a movie. You hated it. I didn't hate it. Why did you hate it? I didn't hate it. What was it about the movie that you hated? I wanted more. Are you a Bruce Springsteen fan? No. Right, okay. And I think Bruce Springsteen fans would love it because they play Bruce Springsteen music in the movie about Bruce Springsteen.

16:05Mike Minogue:you see so is it like a bohemian rhapsody situation oh we're not that bad where you know i watched it for the first time and loved it because it was on the big screen and it was queen and you know it was awesome and then i watched it again yeah and it just was a bit bad no offense if you like that film by the way because a lot of people do love but you were saying off air you wanted to cause

16:24Jason Hoyte:the most offense possible to people that like that film i did say that off air yeah um but was Was it a bit like that? I am working on slowly a ranking of all these biopic movies as I watch them. Rocket Man's still my favourite. Right, that's the out and join one. So far. So far. NWA, that was pretty fun. Yeah. Not as good. Yeah. What does that stand for again? What's that? And this one, I just wanted some more, man. I thought they showed his struggle a little bit. Obviously, when you watch a movie, you want some kind of conflict or something to resolve or something to fight or something to overcome.

Read the full transcript

16:59Jason Hoyte:and he did have some stuff that he encountered and then it got to the part where he would overcome them and then it was like, yeah, that's the movie. Oh, really? Yeah. So you genuinely just wanted it to finish better than it did or actually have an ending? No, I wanted there to be more to tell. I didn't feel like it was... What was told was beautifully shot.

17:19Mike Minogue:Right.

17:20Jason Hoyte:Jeremy Allen White, he's a great actor. Yeah. I think he kind of went up and down in terms of his commitment to being Bruce Springsteen there. Right. But other than that, it was just like, okay, that looks nice.

17:32Mike Minogue:Well, I watched a clip earlier today on Instagram, and it was Bruce Springsteen reacting to, what's the name of the English actor who was in Adolescence? Oh, Stephen Graham. Stephen Graham, who plays Bruce Springsteen's dad. He does.

17:44Jason Hoyte:He really captured exactly what my dad was like. I mean, Stephen Graham's an incredible actor. I've watched him for a long time, and he was really good in this. Yeah, right. He was really, really good, and he was a big part of the thing that Bruce did have to overcome. Yeah. In the movie. And one of the more emotional parts, there was just a huge bit where he went to deal with his problems and then it was like, that's the movie. He did it. Oh, wow. Yeah. That's a shame. Listen, still worth a watch. Especially if you're a Springsteen fan. 100 % I give it a 3.25 buzzies.

18:15Mike Minogue:3.25 buzzies out of five. What's the name of that film, by the way? I don't actually know the name of it.

18:22Mike Minogue:Born in the USA or something? Born in the USA, is it? Bruce Springsteen, the movie. Right, okay. I say hopefully because I have a flight after the show tonight leaving Auckland heading into Christchurch, and the weather all day down there has been absolutely terrible. but Saturday I've already penciled in going to Reburger and the best part is it was actually my wife's idea. 21:02Mike Minogue:Three more years of Luke Metcalf playing for the Waz. That's massive. I was pretty confident in fact that he was going to ditch us and go overseas to more of a glamour club but no, Lukey Met is staying right here in New Zealand. How bloody good is that? Anyway, back to the competition. The Big Show's toolbox top up with ITM. That's right, the Toolbox Top-Up Sale is on right now. Not too bad. Bloody good, bro. What do you do for a crust? I'm an engineer. Oh, nice, man. That's backbone stuff. And where are you calling from? Christchurch. Nice, Robbie. Do you have a good memory, my friend? Sometimes. Okay, okay. What day is it? That's a good one. That's Thursday.

22:19Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, you know. You'll be sweet with this competition, man. Super easy to do, Robbie. I'm going to list off 10 tools. 22:59Mike Minogue:It is an M18 Fuel two-piece power pack featuring a hammer drill driver and an impact driver as well. Valued at over$900, my friend. Oh, beauty. How good, mate. I'll chuck you on hold and I'll pug sign and sort that out for you, all right? Cheers, man. Thank you. Actually, hey, Robbie, you still there, man? Yeah, mate. Hey, what's the wind down there like at the moment? So not a little too bad where I am, but it's obviously pretty gnarly around the area. I think Quarcia's been pretty lucky, really. Yeah, yeah. I'm flying down there tonight after the show for a wedding tomorrow. And have you noticed it ease off a wee bit?

23:34Jason Hoyte:Yeah, it's definitely cooling down a bit now. What time are you landing?

23:38Mike Minogue:Oh, it'll be around 10 o 'clock, I'd say. So it should be fine by then, hopefully. Yeah, yeah, I'd say you'd be all right. Bloody ripper. All right, thanks for that, Robbie. Enjoy your till. Awesome, man. Cheers, buddy. Little bonus info there, never hurt anyone. Here's REM, the one I love, coming up next on The Big Show, another best of The Big Show moment, plus award-winning, Grammy award-winning producer Joel Little coming in for a chat. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Ramble on, sing my song. It is Led Zeppelin on The Hauraki Big Show, Thursday afternoon with Keezy and also Pug-san, Jason Mike.

24:12Mike Minogue:We'll be back on Tuesday. The Big Show, back together as one big happy family. For now though, old Pug Son has dug up another best of moment from the archives of the big show. Pugs, where are we heading to for this one, man?

24:24Jason Hoyte:We're heading to a time before there were Meet Paddy Nips. Oh, wow. And especially before there were Meet Paddy Nips 69 at gmail.com. Oh, but prior to our advice segment. When we had advice segments for every single subject known to man. And even before the pet chat that I made the sting for. We're going old school pet chat 2022 pet chat. Does anyone get killed or do any pets get harmed in any way? Hey, you don't know if you don't listen, brother, so just tune in.

24:55Mike Minogue:Hey, guys, any idea what board games dogs like when it's raining?

25:02Mike Minogue:Any idea what board games dogs like when it's raining?

25:11Yahtzee. A dog rolling five dice at once, Jase? Well, no, because I'm talking about the Yahtzee that's in the sort of plastic cup. Yeah. And they just press it with their paw. It randomises. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Boggle, you're thinking of. Boggle. Is it Boggle? There's also a Yahtzee game like that. Oh, is there? Trivial Pursuit. Trivial Pursuit, yep. A dog with general knowledge?

25:32Mike Minogue:Oh, they're useless. Right, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I would have said Monopoly. Would you? Checkers. Chess. playing a dog at chess. G'day, guys. My dog keeps getting into the compost. How do I stop him? A few months ago, I found a string hanging out his ass with a tag on it, so I pulled it and a peppermint tea bag came out. I'm like, that actually happened with Tinker. Oh, your dog? Yeah, she's been getting into the compost up the back. And she had a string hanging out of her bum. Nuss. Yeah. Nuss there. And this. And I pulled it and just kept on coming. It was like a magician's... Oh, with the handkerchiefs.

26:12Oh, wow. It was like that. Kept on coming and coming and coming. Then a size 11 cherry red Doc Martin boot came out. Wow. Yeah. That's amazing because she's a small dog. Oh, she can pack it away, man. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And also you've got to be really conscious too of pulling the cord in that scenario. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? Because you can have a sort of blow up sort of parachute sort of action going on. Totally. Or they can just start vibrating. Sorry, what was the question? What?

26:39Mike Minogue:How do you keep the dog out of the compost? Oh, close the door. And can I just say, by the way, that's fatal to a dog, compost. I told you that story about my dog getting in the compost, took her to the vet, and the vet made me hold a tray, gave her some medication, and she did a big dog vomit to the tray that I was holding. Right. Because that's the only thing they can do is to get it out of them because it's poisonous. I'm surprised you didn't have to have just taken the duvet off your bed because she loves having a puke on that as well. And wheeze and poos. Did they make you hold the tray as punishment for you?

27:10It was after hours and he made me hold the tray. I like that, actually. And then I had a bit of a... As well.

27:19Mike Minogue:G'day, guys. My dog chewed all the essential rubber wall lining on my fancy front loader washing machine. Back paddock. Yeah. Back paddock? Yeah. Just, yeah. Take her out of the back paddock. Hey, guys. Does worm cream for dogs work on humans? Asking for a mate. Cheers, Fozzie. Yeah, it's good enough, man. It's close enough. It doesn't quite kill them, but it stuns the bastards. And look, just on that front, you don't need any kind of medication for the old human worms. Just get the torch out. Just spread the cheek a little bit at night. Sign them on and they come towards the light. They go for a geese.

27:59The thing about a worm, Jase. Exactly. A tapeworm. Yes. Nosy bastards. Yeah, yeah. Right. They love a party. They love a shindig. Scooping action. Yeah. Bob's your uncle. So what you do is you got the light, like Joe says. That can be anything. Yes. A torch. A headlamp is really good. Lighter. A headlamp's perfect, but lighter can get a bit hairy, if you know what I mean. Oh, yeah. And then you make a noose. A noose by the noose. A noose by the nuss. Right. And then you just hang it there, and then when the tapeworm sticks, It's head out. You just whip it up. Right. Yeah, yeah. And by the way, don't chuck that tapeworm away.

28:37Bait. Good eating. It's good bait.

28:39Mike Minogue:Yeah. Good eating for the fish, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. Good to hear some good old-fashioned pet chat, actually. It's been a bloody long time. Don't forget, you can still get pet advice. You can get in touch with us with our advice email, meetpattynips69 at gmail.com. If we read your advice out on the radio show or the podcast, you do get a$50 Reburger voucher. And just a quick disclaimer for anyone who has asked questions at that very email address. We do have a bit of a backlog, so we will make our way to your question. So just keep on listening, and we'll get there shortly. Up next, Joel Little.

29:12Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Beautiful fade out there. It is Green Day on the Hauraki Big Show. Thursday afternoon with Keezy and joining me in studio right now, a very special guest, a Grammy-winning producer who's worked with some of the biggest names in music, but he is from right here in New Zealand. His name is Joel Little. Joel, thank you so much for coming in the studio. Thanks for having me, man. Good to be here. Now, are you coming in just to say g'day because you're a huge fan of Hauraki or are we sort of promoting something? Mainly the first thing, but we are also here to promote something, yeah.

29:46Yeah, right.

29:46Mike Minogue:So I understand and we'll get into your amazing career shortly. But you and your lovely wife have set up a, it's been running for a few years, but you've set up a sort of a foundation trying to help young aspiring musicians get better access to recording studios and things, right? Yeah, well, it's more of a place. So we have a place in Morningside in Auckland called Big Fan, which has multiple recording studios and then an all-ages venue downstairs. That is a charity, but we run a bunch of programs out of there. The whole idea with it was we wanted to build a very high-end studio and venue space that we would then give as many people access to as possible to kind of help people upskill, chase their dream of doing music and just have the experience of being in a place that is welcoming and encouraging and hopefully will inspire some people to further their careers.

30:44Mike Minogue:Well, it's one of those, and I think media, radio and TV and all sorts of things in the same vein, you turn 18, 17, you leave high school and you go, I'd love to do this music and media being one of them, being an actor, things like that. And you'd go, but don't know how to do it. So I'll just get a regular job. Yeah. So was that your experience coming through as well? Yeah. I mean, I had no idea what I was going to do. And I feel like I just kind of followed my nose and have just ended up in an incredible position. But also, I mean, I knew that I love music and I wanted to do it in some way, shape or form.

31:18But like over the years, especially early on, I was in Goodnight Nurse. and that was awesome fun, but it made us$0. And so that was fine until I had a family. And then I was like, shit, how do you actually make a living off of music and support a small child? So I was doing everything. I was doing covers gigs and set up a label. I was just trying all sorts of stuff out just so that I didn't have to get a normal job.

31:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. Because, I mean, like Goodnight Nurse, for example, I'm assuming you guys didn't start, which, if you don't know, is like a classic Kiwi punk rock band that I remember listening to. Sick. You guys must have got started more in a garage rather than a high-end studio, though, right? Yeah, yeah, exactly. We're in Jaden's garage. And even with that band, I feel like Big Fan as a place for me is, like, we always had, I always had throughout my career, especially early on, just people that would kind of say the right thing at the right time, like the right encouraging word, or like my music teacher at high school, even when I quit music class, would still let us come in and practice in the music room at lunchtime, even though we weren't studying it.

32:20and just people like that who do little things that keep the fire going for you. And so because I've had that experience multiple times, I mean, if that person hadn't said that then, maybe I wouldn't be where I am now. That's kind of what we want Big Fan to be. And, yeah, we started in the garage. I had a guy that we couldn't find a singer for Goodnight Nurse, and I had a guy say to me, you know, why don't you just do it? And I was like, well, I can't actually sing. And he was like, well, either you'll get better or you'll meet someone by, like, being out there, you know, playing gigs that can sing.

32:45Yeah, right. Otherwise you could be sitting around waiting for a singer forever. So just little pieces of advice like that that I've had that that's what we want Big Fan to be for people.

32:53Mike Minogue:Because that's even in like my career in radio and stuff. So I've been in the industry for I think about 14 years now, TV, blah, blah, blah, blah. But I think if I had had the pieces of advice that was sprinkled throughout that 14 years, I could almost get to where I am now in half that time. Right. And it's almost as you're saying, you need to hear the right thing at the right time and be pushed in the right direction. so you have had an incredibly successful career as I said you've worked with some of the biggest names in music what has made you want to come back to New Zealand and set up a foundation to help other young Kiwis get into music are you not fulfilled enough already Joel I mean I feel like to me it's just it feels good to give back and to do things for other people and I feel like if I hadn't had the success that I've had and saw somebody else in my position not doing something to help out i'll be like what a what a dick yeah right okay i feel like there's a little bit of i don't and i put it on myself there's a bit of a responsibility that i feel there to just just because i know that i wouldn't that i was lucky to have the right situation to to make me be able to become this producer and whatever and have this career that i've had um so i just i feel like it's that there are so many people that are talented in new zealand and i want them to have that same sort of opportunity yeah because like you say it is i could have there were so many things i had to figure out for myself along the way as well and so big fan is like all the gear there is amazing the the live venue sounds great like when we used to play we're playing these crappy little places and just you couldn't even really hear yourself and no one could really hear you it was just like a big noise wall yeah right um but at big fan you can hear what everybody's doing and it sounds great and it's just for a free young band to be able to have that and then play a gig and be like, oh man, our bass player sucks, or whatever it might be, so that they can work on it.

34:39It's that type of place. And so yeah, it feels good to be doing it.

34:43Mike Minogue:Awesome. So bigfan.co.nz is the website if you'd like to go along and find out more information. And you guys are doing a fundraising exercise at the moment. You've said you'll match it dollar for dollar for every dollar that comes in to a limit of$50 ,000. So you're hoping to get about $100 ,000 to put into Big Fan. And what will this money go towards? So we run a bunch of free programs there. In the three years that we've been open, we've done something like 35 free programs and they range from mentorships where we pair an aspiring producer or an aspiring event promoter up with someone that's been doing it for years to help them further their careers.

35:19We do residencies where people, we just give them free studio time to come and work on whatever project it is that they're working on. We do writing camps, we do seminars, all sorts of stuff. and we always have so many more people apply for them than we have spaces. And so we just want to do more. We just want to be able to give more people the opportunity to get in the door. And so the idea is that, yeah, any donations will just go straight to that, to more programs for next year. Like you say, my wife and I are going to match it dollar for dollar. Sweet. Yeah, and you can donate at bigfan.co.nz or if you've got cash, just stick it through the letterbox and yeah, we'll take care of it.

36:00Mike Minogue:Bloody Ripper, well, bigfan.co.nz, go along there, have a look. You might not have any cash yourself, but you might know someone who does have some cash. In the meantime, we'll get back to chatting with Grammy award-winning producer and songwriter, Joel Little. In the meantime, we're going to go back to the early days of the career with a bit of Goodnight Nurse. This is taking over. And what year did this one come out, Joel? I honestly don't even know. I feel like this was probably like 2005 or 2006. Hell yeah, let's do it. The Horaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. I don't think anyone would have guessed that that guy would have been the guy that ended up doing songs with Taylor Swift.

36:36I know, right? Very unlikely.

36:38Mike Minogue:Hugely unlikely. It's Goodnight Nurse. They're taking over. And I've got Joel Little who, as we've said, has helped some of the hugest names in music like Taylor Swift, Lord, of course, which is sort of how things started for you. But originally you were in Goodnight Nurse, and we haven't heard that song in so long, almost 20 years. Yeah. 20 years old, that song, Joel. What the heck? I know. I know, man. It's actually wild to think about that I've been doing this for 20 plus years. It's been pretty good to you, though. So it would have been 2012 or 2013, I was working at another radio station in Auckland.

37:14Mike Minogue:I was an intern. And my job was to go through all of the sort of demos that had been sent in and find one to play and feature for the next month. and I found a four song demo from Lorde and I listened to that. And so I spent my entire, it was busy work for the intern who was useless. I spent my entire day listening to different bands and things. Some of whom have gone on to do awesome things, but put this on, I was like, holy cow, this chick is amazing. And the song I actually loved was Love Club. Oh yeah. And if you aren't familiar with the song, look it up, Lorde Love Club. And then I think the bosses ended up listening and said, no, Royals is the one.

37:49Mike Minogue:We like that one. no need to explain what happened with Royals. It went massive. It won a Grammy, right? Yeah, it won two Grammys. Two Grammys, Royals, which you helped Ella create. And then I remember Ella baked muffins for the radio station and things like that. And then you see where she's at now and where you're at now as well. It's mind-blowing stuff seeing Kiwis do so well, Joel. Thank you. Yeah, I mean, it was mind-blowing for us too, just that whole very unexpected whole thing, the way that it played out. I mean, we thought that we'd done something cool, but it was like a free download.

38:20She put it up on SoundCloud for free. That's right, yes. So it wasn't even like, and no, she'd never even played a gig or anything. Her whole thing was like, I'm 15 years old and none of my friends have credit cards because this was kind of pre-Spotify being what it is now. Yeah. So the label was like, yeah, you should just put it up for free. Why not? Yeah. And it just kind of snowballed. It was wild.

38:38Mike Minogue:It was wild because, you know, it started over on that smaller radio station I was working on and then it went to some of the big hits, ones like ZM, for example, and then it went international and you could just see this thing growing. can you please give us some of the big names that you have worked with because we're on Radio Hodaki we play the Chillies and the Phooies and Led Zeppelin but there are some massive artists for example you mentioned earlier Taylor Swift yeah not a lot of Hodaki bands that's okay, Rita Ora for example Rita Ora, Taylor Swift Imagine Dragons, you might play a little bit of them we did yeah Khalid, Shawn Mendes Niall Horan far out yeah there's there's been a lot is it do you do you have you still got and did you ever have imposter syndrome like what the hell am I doing here I'm from goodnight nurse I feel like a lot of most musicians have imposter syndrome because it's such a weird it's a hard thing to like I feel like it's a hard thing to get an ego over like being able to write a good song because you write so many bad songs right on the road to writing the good ones and even when you've written some good ones.

39:41You still write really crappy ones in between a good one and another good one. Yeah, right. So you're keeping yourself in check. I'm getting humbled every day trying to write songs and just be like, man, that sucks. And then I just, oh, I'll try again tomorrow. And then I'll have a day where I write a good song and I'm like, I'm the man. And then the next day I'll write a crap one and I'm like, oh, I suck. I'm never going to write another good one.

40:01Mike Minogue:But we don't see any of that or hear any of that. We only hear the big ones that get through and you go, man, this dude is on fire. Yeah, exactly. So I'm assuming, and we won't get into the details too much, but your livelihood depends on writing songs, teaming up, collabing those songs going well with big artists. Is there a song that you were just so thankful that you were a part of? I mean, Royals for sure. Royals was the one that started it? Yeah, Royals was the one that started it. I mean, that's been huge. Young, Dumb and Broke by Khalid is also a song that's just kind of like the gift that keeps on giving.

40:31So you wrote that? Yeah.

40:32Mike Minogue:Oh, my God. Yeah. That's a great song. Yeah, thanks. I wrote it with Khalid and another guy called Talay Riley The three of us wrote it Yeah right And so what about like for example getting on a Taylor Swift song Because she's the biggest artist in the world Yeah yeah yeah I did four or five songs on her album called Lover So yeah I mean that was huge The songs that we did were all I think three or four of them were singles So it was yeah I mean all of that stuff is just like You're just kind of pinching yourself man It's crazy But also I feel like at that point I'd put in a lot of time And I was kind of ready to step up to the challenge.

41:05You knew you could do it as well? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I think so. I just, I don't know. You kind of have to go into it with a bit of self-belief, you know, and just trust that, like, you know, she wouldn't have asked to work with me if she didn't like what I did. Right.

41:19Mike Minogue:So is that how it works? Is it so people say, oh, I like what you did with that track. I wouldn't mind working with you. Yeah. Yeah. People reach out. I mean, I'll reach out, especially to, like, newer artists. I'll reach out and be like, oh, that's cool. Like, it'd be cool to, because I love working with new artists as well as the more established ones, just helping them kind of find their sound. Like with Killeen and with Lorde. I did Noah Khan's first two albums. He's obviously a massive superstar now. Awesome. I just didn't do his – he calls me a stepping stone because his really successful album came afterwards.

41:47But I love helping an artist figure things out from the get-go.

41:51Mike Minogue:So you're going to Taylor Swift's wedding or what? No, I don't think I'm quite – I'm not quite in a circle enough for that. I'm probably on like one of the outer rings of the planet that Taylor Swift. Yeah, sorry, man. It's a shame because I'm going. I was hoping I'd have a familiar face there. Congrats. Yeah, all right. Well, yeah, let me know how it goes. It's going to be great. I'm very excited. Well, look, Joel Little, thank you so much for coming in the studio, man. As mentioned prior, if you would like to get involved and donate to help Joel's cause, go to bigfan.co.nz. They're looking for$50 ,000 in donations.

42:27Mike Minogue:and then Joel and your wife Gemma will match that. Hoping to get$100 ,000 to get more talented Kiwis in recording studios and performing live as well. Joel, thank you so much for coming in. Thank you, man. Yeah, and every little bit counts. You don't have to give me$50 ,000 in one go. You can just,$5 is also a good amount to give. Just anything like that. Hell yeah. It's very helpful, yeah. Bigfan.co.nz. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Jane's Addiction. Jane says on the Hauraki Big Show, It is just about 6 o 'clock here this Thursday afternoon with Keezy, the big show back in full on Tuesday, by the way.

43:03Mike Minogue:We just got back from Fiji. In fact, Mogi is still there with his lovely wife and daughter. And if you were keeping an eye on our social media channels, you would have seen us playing golf over there. You would have also noticed that we have brand new Radio Hauraki Swingers Club golf polos. If you'd like to get your hands on one of those, you can get them from mrvintage.co.nz. You can also get them for free. eventually because we are currently looking for another location for the Radio Hauraki Swingers Club to play a golf course somewhere around New Zealand I think we're thinking just in the Auckland area for the next one but if you know anyone or you have a course that you love or you have a connection to a course somewhere why not text us on 3483 let us know and we could end up playing there I think the breakfast show we're gonna have a couple of people playing with them versus the big show me and Jace and a couple of winners as well we'll probably do a live show from somewhere There'll be free food, free polos, all sorts of good stuff.

43:59Mike Minogue:So have a wee think and give us a text on 3483. Coming up after 6 o 'clock, more best of The Big Show, including a story from Mike helping his former neighbour on Waiheke. Phil or was it Bill? I think it was Phil. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. That's right. It is The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. However, Jace and Mike are currently away. Mike is still in Fiji with his lovely family. Jace has taken a couple of days off leading into the long weekend because he needs a bit of time to chill as well, apparently. Also, I'll be away tomorrow because I'm emceeing a wedding down in Christchurch.

44:40Mike Minogue:If my flight tonight does in fact take off, I've been keeping an eye on the old flight radar. Plenty of planes taking off heading for Christchurch. I've noticed that it's the larger planes that are in fact landing down there while a lot of the smaller planes from the smaller regions have unfortunately been cancelled. If you've got any updates, though, on anything around that situation, feel free to text in on 3483. Any info is extremely, extremely appreciated. In the meantime, the Hodaki Big Show is, of course, brought to you by Reburger, crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger.

Up next, best of the big show for now, Living Colour. This is Cult of Personality, and you're on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. 46:01Mike Minogue:In the meantime, we're doing Best of the Big Show. This clip is entitled Mike Helps Neighbour. Is this from when he was living on Waiheke?

46:08Jason Hoyte:This is where Mike helps his neighbour. Oh. Yeah. No, the fellas used to be real community men. They were very involved, almost like homeowners association levels of being involved in the community. And this was Mike helping out with the old lady next door. Oh, the old lady next door. So this is Maureen, my neighbour down the road there Her husband, she's old But she's got plenty of life back in her, a lot of fight You said feisty Yeah And her husband passed away recently So she's on her own, she hasn't got a lot of family that live locally So I've been helping her out But she come over and Showed me how to make jam And she caught her apron on fire So I threw jam on her to put the fire out Unfortunately the jam caused third degree burns But she's looking pretty good You know what I find, because I'm like this with my old neighbour Bill You know what I mean And they come back from adversity like nobody's business because they're from a different generation.

46:59Yeah, they're like cockroaches. Yeah, well, very much. They just won't die. No. And so I've been helping her out around there, and she's like, oh, no, I'd rather you didn't. I'd rather you didn't. I can take care of it. It's like, Maureen, come on. She's like, no, honestly, I've got it covered, Mike. I just wish you'd leave me alone. I was like, look, Maureen, I'm not taking no for an answer here, all right? Sure. She's like, Maureen, I'm like, Maureen, shut up. Yeah. Sit down. And then I was just sort of out there helping her with her housework and that, doing a bit of vacuuming and just doing her dishes and that.

47:31But it's one of those things, because she's so old, you know how they just collect all that crap over the years? Oh, yeah, totally. Doilies and things like that. It's unreal, man. There's vase. Every available surface is just coated. Seashells. Knick-knacks. Yes. Curios. Totally. Just these, you know, all this sort of garbage, which, you know, she said it's got sentimental value. But, I mean, to me, I'll be honest with you, it just looks like garbage. Yeah. And she had this little vase, tacky bloody thing it was, and I'm going around doing the vacuum and I knocked the bastard over right in the fireplace.

48:07It was over the fire there. Yes. Oh, sheesh. Because she gets quite pissy when I break her stuff. Oh, well, as anyone would. Yeah, well, I mean, you know. But she's got so much kesey. Right, exactly. It's not like she's going to... She needs to just calm down because she's got to think about getting better after all her burns and that. Right. And so anyway, so I vacuumed all that up and then I ducked off. I'm all right, Maureen, we'll leave you to it. Then she calls me up. What happened to John? What happened to John? I said, look, Maureen, you're going to have to calm down. I don't know what you're talking about.

48:39Anyway, it turns out that that vase had John's ashes on them. Oh, bugger. And I dropped them and smashed them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I said, calm down, calm down. I've just vacuumed them up. It's all good. Yeah, yeah. So it'll be in the sack. Yeah, that's what I thought. But then I actually had emptied it out. Oh, bugger. Yeah. So that's all good. So all I did was I just got some out of the fireplace at our joint. Yeah. Just swept that in there. None the wiser. None the wiser. Oh, no. She probably would have forgotten about it within about 10 minutes. Yeah, I mean, it was just to have something there.

49:15Yes. You know. But in reality, John's actually like... Maybe in the landfill now. Yeah. Yeah, which is, I mean, six or one, half a dozen of the other, to be honest, Geezy. He would have liked that. Well, it's the thing. He was actually a Garbo. Yeah. Oh, really? Garbage man? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, it's poetic then, isn't it? It is, yeah. You know what I mean? It's the way it should have been. No, that's right, yeah. Old Maureen there, eh?

49:39Mike Minogue:What a good bastard. Who, Maureen? No, you for sending her husband to the dump. well, sending them home. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Oh, good on you, mate. I guess, yeah, no, yeah. You could say I'm a hero, Kesey, yeah. Yeah, good on you. But I don't like to, yeah. Yeah, I know you don't. Service for the community, you know what I mean? And, yeah, there's plenty more stuff I can do around every place, actually. Oh, I'm sure. Yeah. Yeah, well, good on you, mate. It's great to help the old folk out, isn't it? Yeah. You know what I mean? To give back a little bit. Well, the thing is, you know, you start helping them out, she's got no one else, you see.

50:09Yeah. Oh, Minogio gets written into the old wheel there. Oh, yeah. Oh, these benefits all right, mate. Good on you.

50:18Mike Minogue:Girl, that Mogey, he's a shocking bastard. Now we're back on Tuesday. 50:54Mike Minogue:You're about to run out. Only one week to go. But for the month of October, if you head into Diamonds on Richmond and get yourself an engagement ring, you'll get a complimentary pair of diamond earrings. So that's two gifts for the price of one. Not bad. at all. But as mentioned, we have an$8 ,000 diamond engagement ring to give away. You just go to hodaki.co.nz, chuck your details there and put down a little reason as to why you are trying to get this engagement ring. And one of the patterns that we are noticing that it is not the person who wants the ring to propose, it is the person who wants to be proposed to.

51:30Mike Minogue:For example, this comes in from Anonymous. My partner is a fabulous person. We've got two girls together and he is an awesome stepdad to my two girls from a previous relationship we've been together for about seven years only thing is he's a tight prick and can't part with any dollars for a wee ring that is exhibit a there from anonymous uh what about this one g'day backbones firstly i'd like to say thank you for coming up with such an evil genius idea to peer pressure my boyfriend to live radio propose we didn't say anything about doing it live on the radio but if that's what you want to do we'll be open to it uh he'll appreciate it too in the long run we've been together for five years.

52:06Mike Minogue:We really have both become the best versions of ourselves together. It's just perfect. And if you make this happen, I'll invite you to the wedding in Raro for being such backbones. Now, obviously, we don't just say, oh, let's choose that one because I'll get a free trip to Raro. But I tell you what, that's not a bad one at all. Hodaki.co.nz. Head along there, chuck your details down, and you can be winning that$8 ,000 diamond engagement ring. We'll also to send you out a Hauraki nudge pad just for your efforts. There's a special knee pad designed to send a little message, if you know what I mean.

52:41Mike Minogue:Big shout-out to Diamonds of Richmond. In the meantime, it's Guns N' Roses. November rain. You're listening to The Big Show. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. November rain. Guns N' Roses. Keezy and Pugsan. It's almost November, Pugs, man. What's up with that? You've always been a comedian. I've always said that about you. Thanks, man.

53:04Jason Hoyte:What best of moment have you got for us? This is from before Chris Key became the biggest name on the comedy stage. When's your next gig, by the way? I've given up.

53:15Mike Minogue:You've given it up? Yeah, it's just too hard to pursue stand-up comedy because I did do some last year. Yeah. The reason people who are good are good at it is because they are freaking doing it multiple times every week and a lot of them are getting paid nothing to do it. It's a huge thing to get into. Oh, it's a huge undertaking, yeah. And I couldn't do it justice. I think one day I'll have another crack at it properly,

53:37Jason Hoyte:but for now I'll just stick to the old big show. Well, in the meantime, mate, why don't we look back on one of your first memories as a stand-up comic, doing your practice with the fellas on the big show.

53:47Mike Minogue:I've got a new opening line that I think you guys will love. Okay. Because, I mean, we've been workshopping and it's been really helpful and I thank you for that. Oh. Oh, wait, you need the background. That's your first show. You've got to walk out. Oh, okay, hang on. Let me get the background ready, actually. Can't do your joke in the back there. Yeah, right. True that. Welcome to the stage, the one and only Keezy. Boo. That'll be me. You're in the front row too, aren't you? Oh. Is that what you're going to start off every gig with? Oh. Like you're shocked to be there? G'day, everyone. My name's Keezy.

54:27Mike Minogue:I'm going to do some observational comedy for you now. So you're still going to stick with that, the observational comedy. You're going to tell them what comedy you're doing. You're going to go, I'm going to do some observational comedy. My nose. Have you ever noticed? My goatee. I mean, as if you wouldn't observe that from the crowd. I mean, that would be the first thing you saw. Oh, quiet in front, you two. Animals have really good teeth. Have you noticed that? and humans teeth, you need to go to the dentist all the time to get good teeth. Although if animals had a dentist and a bear went and got all his teeth pulled out, he'd be a gummy bear.

55:10Hey, Chase, do you want me to go get your beer? Thanks, mate. I'm just going to duck out and get a beer. I might go never down. He'd be a gummy bear. I might actually come over a day. Like the lolly. Yeah, let's go do it, mate. Hey, can you guys stop whispering in the front there? Excuse me. Sorry, sorry. Excuse me. Jesus. Oh, my apologies. That was absolutely top. Oh, God. How are we going to speak to him on Monday? I mean, that's, what do we say? At least his goatee looked really cool.

55:38Mike Minogue:Oh, thank goodness I am not currently doing any stand-up. That was a couple of years ago now, and it was one of the best things that I ever had to do as part of this radio show, them pretty much forcing me to do stand-up comedy at Sky City Theatre in front of, I think it was like 500 people or something, a huge thing that you always think oh I'd love to give that a crack one day and then now that it's done I'm stoked however heading into it freaking the F out man the big show will be back in full on Tuesday by the way and in the meantime if you are missing us check out our podcast every single show we've ever done available for you there The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki

56:25Mike Minogue:That's the big show done and dusted for Thursday, the 23rd of October. Just Keezy here, of course, with old Pugs on, tagging in. Thanks for the help today, Pugs.

56:34Jason Hoyte:Listen, man, any time you need me, Chris. Right. Chris. Huh? Look at me.

56:41Mike Minogue:I'm looking directly at you and only occasionally looking away. I'll be there. You didn't even look at me when you said that last word. No, no. Seriously, though, because I couldn't use a hand this weekend. in Christchurch? Yeah. Well, I've got to do the big show tomorrow, sorry. Oh, yeah, so I'm emceeing a wedding tomorrow. Fingers crossed at this stage my flight has not been postponed yet. It's happening in a couple of hours' time. You're going to be great, Chris, man. Thanks, man. Just be yourself. I'm not worried about the emceeing. Just chill out,

57:10Jason Hoyte:take it easy and just give it your all. Leave nothing behind. Thanks, man.

57:17Mike Minogue:Wait, no.

57:18Jason Hoyte:Leave it all out there.

57:19Mike Minogue:Leave it all out there but leave nothing behind. That's it. I'm more nervous that my flight's not going to make it to Christchurch because it's also a long weekend, right? So any chance of hopping on a flight tomorrow is out the door because everyone's already snapped all those flights out. Yes. Even from local airports, Hamilton, Tauranga, I've checked them all. There's none. So I don't know what they're going to do tomorrow if I don't arrive to sort of save the wedding. Can the wedding. They'll have to can the wedding. They'll have to park the relationship too. The wedding can't go ahead unless old Keezy's there to sort of MC the damn thing.

57:49Jason Hoyte:You're the glue. What are you doing this weekend, man? Tomorrow I'm picking up a dog that I'm dog-sitting for three weeks, which I'm really excited about. It's a little guy, and he's going to be hanging out in our apartment from somebody here at work, actually. Right. And then I'm catching up with a couple of mates tomorrow, coming over to our place who haven't seen it, some of our best friends. And then Saturday, oh, oh, oh, I was supposed to go to a bachelor's weekend, but it got cancelled, so instead they're having drinks at their place. Wow, sweet. Sounds great. Yeah.

58:13Mike Minogue:Hey, rest up, man. Yeah, I'll take it easy. Take it easy, and I'll see you on Tuesday for a full reunion of the Hauraki Big Show. Love you, bye. Thanks for listening. But not at all.
