In short
“Best of ’25: Piano Practice” on The Hauraki Big Show, featuring comedic segments plus a live piano challenge and listener-driven food/drama/pet-chat bits.
Guests
No named external guests appear in this episode’s main “piano practice” segment. The hosts are Jace, Mike Minogue, and Kesey (Keezy). A referenced studio guest is “Paksan” (Chris) who chats about Valentine’s Day and rules for staying at Jase’s family batch. Also mentioned: Nick from Elliot’s Music Academy and Paul Buchanan (songwriter/artist whose tune is learned).
Key claims
Jase learns and performs a Paul Buchanan piano song after only five weeks and getting a keyboard the day before; listeners praise his “backbone” performance. The show also claims viral affair footage was traced via LinkedIn (CEO/HR). Dog face-licking is framed as highly unsanitary.
Notable examples
leftover-recipe texts (“toasted sammies” fritter; bacon gnocchi pesto soup; chicken curry soup), Coldplay concert affair story, spooky “someone out there” sleep-intruder tale, Valentine’s batch rules (no lights/candles; worm sewage bucket toilets), and dog-licking infection warnings (staph).

Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keyzie. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. My wife has actually got an offer for you guys. Would you be interested? Oh yeah. It's to do with accounting. Accounting what? Accounting, your finances and that. Sure. Why, what do you think it was? I was open to anything. Except this. You know how we run a pretty slick operation in terms of our finances. so every week various automatic payments put small amounts of money into various accounts. You've got your groceries account, your utilities account. I've got a fun account. You've got a beer account.
0:35Mike Minogue:I've got a fun account. Motorcycle account. Motorbike account for saving up for a motorbike. Sports account. Sports account because we want to encourage playing indoor netball and squash and golf and stuff like that. Squash doll. She's actually sat down because she was listening to the show the other day and she's made you guys some accounts and she's got some ideas for you. Okay. Would you be interested in at least just hearing me out? You know what it sounds like, man? It sounds like we're going to get stitched up here or Keezy's going to put the boot in.
1:01Keyzie:Yeah. It does have that vibe about it, doesn't it? What do you mean?
1:06Mike Minogue:It's my wife wrote that. Oh, okay, great. Hit us, Keezy. So, Jase, we'll start with you, man. She suggested a massive honker account.
1:15Keyzie:Just joking.
1:20Keyzie:Okay, but in terms of the number one. No, wait, but I mean, but, no, I'm open to that, but I mean, what's it for? I don't know.
1:31Mike Minogue:We're putting a hell of a lot of funds in there, brother.
1:36Mike Minogue:That's literally it. All right, let's move. Let's play a song.
1:42Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Leftovers Jam, the hoity motherfucking jam.
1:55Keyzie:How was that ever me?
1:57Mike Minogue:You started it by saying you hate how much leftovers there are in your fridge. Oh, okay. Yeah, right. I got you. It was a different thing. It's been repurposed somewhat. Yes. And for a week there. Still a great sting. For a week there, we were getting pugs to make heaps of stings on the fly. Yes. But this is actually, and should we rename this to What's on the Leftovers, New Zealand? I think you can take some things too far. Yeah, man. And that's too far, is it? So how this works is all the texts that flooded in last night for what's on the dinner, New Zealand. It's a tricky one to remember for you, isn't it?
2:31Mike Minogue:For me? Yeah.
2:32Keyzie:I think it's because it doesn't make sense. Well, it just flows off the tongue for us. Yeah.
2:37Mike Minogue:So basically all the leftover texts that we didn't read out, we read them out tonight and tell you what you can do with the leftovers from last night's meal. Yes. Genius. G'day, fellas. Derek here. Derek Jeter. Yeah, Derek Jeter. Toasted sammies. Cheese, onion, ham, tomato. So that was last night. Oh, yeah. You wouldn't really have leftovers from that, would you?
3:00Keyzie:I tell you what you do with that. You put the leftover toasted sammies in a blender and put some milk in with it, blend it, and then make them into toasted patties. Oh. Like a corn fritter or toasted fritters. Now we're talking, man. Yeah. And grate a bit of cheese in there. You had extra cheese to bind it.
3:20Mike Minogue:Would you eat that, like, a bit of sour cream, sweet chilli? I mean, that sounded yummy. What about this one? G'day, guys. Actually, I don't need to say the names, right? Yeah, you do. That's what's on the dinner. It's part of it, Keezy. G'day, guys. William here. Oh, my God. William Shakespeare. Yeah, it's William Shakespeare. Tonight, I am having ye olde bacon gnocchi pesto. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Bacon, gnocchi, pesto. Yeah, so I'm guessing the gnocchi is the pasta and there's bacon and pesto all on it. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just sort of. Sure. That's what William Shakespeare's having.
3:59Keyzie:Sounds very gluggy to me, actually. It does, it does. And what it needs there, you've got bacon there, so I would go with probably a, I'd even go with a veggie stock, actually, Jase. Sure. We'll get a veggie stock in there and then you just want to simmer it down, simmer it down there, just boil it down, Just reduce it, reduce it, reduce it, and you get a beautiful soup. Bacon hock soup. Oh, my God. A little bit of gnocchi, a little bit of pesto. Flosing around in it. Yeah, beautiful. Maybe finish it off with a bit of fresh basil.
4:30Mike Minogue:Yes. Because what I was thinking is you could maybe make gnocchi toasties. You know what I mean? You've got gnocchi toasties. But you haven't got any bread, though. You can only work with what they've got. Do you know that this person has stock? Oh, yeah, yeah. No, that's fair enough. but you can make a stock. Stock's easy. And if you haven't got a stock, just water's fine. Oh, okay. Just a little bit of water. Water and a little bit of...
4:51Keyzie:There's a lot of flavour in the bacon and the gnocchi and the pesto. And you don't get that nice... Where are they from, does it say?
4:58Mike Minogue:It doesn't say so, mate. G'day, guys. Giselle here. Bunchen. Yep. Hey, congratulations to you, Giselle, for having another child.
5:09Keyzie:Is that Leonardo DiCaprio's? Yeah, originally, but then Tom Brady had three children with her and then eventually the marriage broke out. I don't mean to air her dirty laundry here on Radio Horeki but Tom Brady decided he wanted to play another year in the NFL and so she divorced him. Yeah, right. Then he went back and he played like garbage. So she had a little victory
5:33Mike Minogue:there. Giselle's in Invercargill anyway. Oh, is she?
5:36Keyzie:It sounds like a horse. Giselle.
5:38Mike Minogue:It sounds like a gazelle maybe, is that what you're thinking of?
5:41Keyzie:Yeah.
5:43Mike Minogue:Anyway, Giselle's in Invercargill and she's cooking chicken curry for mum and dad. And that was last night. Chicken curry for mum and dad. Oh, yeah. What can you do with that? Well, it sounds to me like it's got a bit of soup written all over it. Bit of soup. Cool, so just another soup.
5:58Keyzie:I'd use a beef stock on that one. So same thing, but with beef stock. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Beef stock with the chicken.
6:04Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Drama. There is drama. Also, don't forget it is Friday, so if you have a shout-out, you'd like, sorry, a frown out, text it at 3-2-3-4-8-3 and you can win yourself a$50 Reburger voucher. There has been drama. A lot of people might have seen this. May have heard it in the news as well. A couple were caught blatantly having an affair at a Coldplay concert. The concert was in Boston and the big screen was cutting between, they must have been singing some sort of romantic song. It was cutting between couples that were like hugging and stuff.
6:35Mike Minogue:Yeah, pashing. Pashing and all that. Cut to this one couple, it's sort of the guy behind with his arms around the woman in front. Classic. It's a classic Mogey one, that. And she freaks out, ducks down out of the video, and he's just sort of standing there looking all embarrassed. And then it's come out straight away. People on the internet were like, they're having an affair. They found their LinkedIn pages. Turns out he's the CEO of a company and she's his head of HR. So this is like nowadays, man, if you do something even slightly dodgy, people will track you down straight away. Yeah. It's pretty crazy.
7:06Mike Minogue:But on the back of that, just sort of thinking, you know, rules around taking your mistress to a concert, Jase? I mean, that's probably something you could speak to and how to sort of get away with it. Yeah.
7:18Keyzie:Yeah, well, you know, back in the day, you know, my shagging days, fellas, I had more than one mistress. So that was a bigger challenge for me was that I'd have three or four of the same, you know, mistresses at the same gig. So you'd take them all to the same gig? Yeah, but, you know, I was so steamed most of the time during those days, Kesey, I'd forget. Right. And I'd invite one of them and then I'd go, oh, jeez. Oh, that's right. Oh, Daniel's coming as well. And Harry. And Louise and Ruben's coming as well, you know. And it's like, oh, and so I always found that very, very uncomfortable. And so I'd have to, you know, I'd have a bit of a passion, a bit of a hug from behind, sort of a spooning scenario.
8:01Keyzie:And then I'd go, oh, just got to go wheeze. And then go over to Ruben and, you know, nuzzle up against his head, very firm buttocks.
8:08Mike Minogue:Right, but then there's three or four of them there, right?
8:12Keyzie:Three or four of them, yeah. So I had to try and juggle them and keep them apart. Of course, back in those days, fellas, we didn't have your phones and things like that, so it wasn't as perilous as it is now. Didn't have the cameras at the concerts. Correct. Didn't have a jumbotron showing it to everybody there. So, yeah, a bit easier for you there, Jase. But the problem was at those concerts is oftentimes Sometimes you'd be, you know, there'd only be about half a dozen people in the audience because it would be like a comedy gig with you guys headlining Sugar and Spice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Something like that.
8:44So it made it very difficult for you to hide in the crowd, I'm sure.
8:47Keyzie:Yeah, look, I've got to tell you, there were some very awkward evenings, fellas. Very awkward. But today, what I try and do is sort of stare away from big crowds with my mistress. Right, okay. So you're still running a couple? Two or three. Oh, two at the moment, actually. I had a bit of a falling out with the food. Yeah. But, no, we stick to sort of hotel rooms, things like that. Yeah, cool. That's my advice. I wouldn't take them to any gigs or any of that sort of carry-on.
9:17Mike Minogue:So this has gone viral. My question is, do you feel sorry for them in any way? You know what I mean? Because they are having an affair, but people are always having affairs. Yeah, that's right. But, I mean, no, I don't feel sorry for them. Not at all. So if you're going to go out there and do that and you're having an affair, then you sort of what you get is what you get. He's come out and given a statement, this guy. Yeah, right. We'll probably come back to him real loud, but my understanding is that he's blaming Coldplay. Oh, wow. You can blame Coldplay for a lot of things, but I don't know if you can blame them for that, yeah.
9:49Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Hey, fellas, I had an interesting incident occur last night. Would you like to hear about it? Sure, man. Yes, please. Sounds great. Is it erotic? It needs spooky music there. There it is. It's our spooky music that we use. Yeah, it's great stuff. I was fast asleep, which is rare for me, and it must have been around about 2 o 'clock in the morning when I was awoken by my wife whisper screaming, Somebody's out there! Right?
10:26Keyzie:Right. That's terrifying. So did she just say that in your ear or did she shake you and then say that? I'm not sure. I woke up with a start. Yes. Eyes are bulging. Yes. Straight away, you're ready to go, aren't you? Well, you're ready for something. You're poised for action. You're poised for some kind of action that you hope you don't have to take. You hope it's one of the world's smallest men that's broken in. Sure. Or even a child. Or a cat. A cat would be good. Or a duck. Sorry. A duck. A duck. If the duck was there, how good would that be? That would be a bit spooky, actually, at night time.
10:58Has the duck broken in to rob you? Well, this is what we don't know. You can never know the motivations of a duck, Kesey.
Read the full transcript
11:04Mike Minogue:That's so true. A duck's motivation is primarily the shit everywhere. Anyway, I said, what? That was my first reaction. Nice. But it whispered a little bit as well. I said, what? She goes, there's somebody out there. I was like, damn it. Because I was hoping I'd misheard her. Yeah. Because I was sleeping, you know.
11:24Keyzie:Well, you were, yeah. And I said, where? Yeah, I can't. Because I stopped for a minute to listen. Yeah, nice. Not a minute, but a while. I was going to say, it's ages. It's too long, a minute. I said, I can't hear anything. She goes, no, there's somebody there. So I kept on listening, couldn't hear anything. And I said, are you asleep or awake? She said, I'm awake. I said, well, I can't hear anything. And she goes, is someone there? I said, where? and she pointed straight in front of her.
11:58Mike Minogue:Oh my God, that's terrifying. But at this point, she was now lying on her back so she was pointing at the ceiling. Right, okay. And I said, what are you seeing? And she said, it's a plastic thing. And I said, you're asleep, aren't you? And she said, yes.
12:17How good.
12:18Mike Minogue:So she knew she was asleep. And I didn't get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Yeah, of course. I'll tell you what, I was there buzzing. and the adrenaline was pumping through me, man. Yeah.
12:28Keyzie:So funny. Can I ask, because my wife does a very similar thing, but she sits bolt upright. Right. And then starts yabbering. That's very off-putting.
12:39Mike Minogue:It is. That was like one time, similar thing, actually. I was woken up in the middle of the night by my wife because there was someone outside rustling around the leaves. Russell? Was it Russell? It might have been Russell. Was it a duck? And she was like, well, I'll get to that, Jase. She was like, there's someone out there. I can hear them walking around. Listen to that. And then I could hear them as well. She said, you have to go out and have a look. I'm like, what am I going to do? Yeah, exactly. I turned the light on in our room and was just like, who's there? No response. More rustling in the leaves.
13:11Mike Minogue:I was like, so they've heard us. Now they're trying to run away. Slowly. Very slowly. Through a big pile of leaves. If this was Kim.com, I won't be surprised. I'll get to that, Moogie. Anyway Five minutes later It's still happening Go outside Just a hedgehog Just playing around the leaves With a shotgun With a shotgun And while I'm looking at the hedgehog A duck runs inside And goes Kim quick get in now Get in now Kim.com runs in Wow Shad all over the house And then Kim Oh sorry the duck Shad everywhere It was crazy
13:47Keyzie:It's interesting actually Because I had one scenario very similar to that actually what you guys had and my wife woke up and she was like there's someone out there can you hear that and I went no and she went no listen listen there's someone out there can you hear that and I went actually yes I can want to go and check it out see what's happening and so she went out she went out she went out yeah you didn't go out No, man, she's way harder than me. And there was some reprobate who just got out of prison. Oh, wow. Six foot five. Wow. Built like a brick shithouse. She decked him. Did you? And then my duck shat on him.
14:39Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
14:45Keyzie:We've got the one and only Paksan in the studio with us. Hello, how are you? Yeah, good, thanks, Pugs. How are you? Yeah, not too bad, man. Not too bad. Had a good Valentine's Day, have you? You're a stallion. Oh. Oh. Sort of just taken off, actually. That's a good point, actually. We've all talked about our Valentine's Day. What did you get up to, much? Can't say that I have been. Would you consider yourself a romantic, Pugsun? Me? Yes.
15:09Mike Minogue:I would like to say so. I think you're a massive romantic. I reckon... What makes you say that, Chris? No, fly on the wall to Pugsun. What's the vibe? He'd be writing five poems. He'd be, you know, anything you can think of, he would have done it today. He's a huge romantic.
15:23Keyzie:It's interesting how everyone can have different perspectives. I just see you as a filthy bastard. Yeah. Thanks, Jase.
15:31Mike Minogue:Hey, but the reason we got you in here, man, is because you're spending Valentine's Day at Jase's batch tonight.
15:37Keyzie:Can I just clarify something from the get-go here? It's not my batch. It's a family batch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's your batch. Yeah. How are you feeling about that, Pugson? I am over the moon excited, and I'm very grateful that you've given me the opportunity to go. Again, it's not me. It's my father-in-law. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm grateful that you made the connection. I'll pass it on to him. Thank you. Listen, I just wanted to sort of set down a few rules for when you go there. Obviously, certain things that need to happen. Yeah. My wife has written out all the instructions of what to do. She's drawn a beautiful map too, fellas.
16:12Keyzie:It's immaculate. Really? It is immaculately drawn. She loves a map drawing. Now, first and foremost
16:22Keyzie:Lights out at 7 o 'clock Well, hang on
16:25Mike Minogue:The show finished at 7 So he won't even been left here yet Yeah, so when you get there
16:29Keyzie:Don't turn any lights on And why is that?
16:31Mike Minogue:Is that for like To not disturb local wildlife? Wildlife and also
16:35Keyzie:The local residents there It's complete blackout after 7 Oh Apart from the sun That's alright Because you're a candle guy anyway Yeah, yeah, yeah But actually just on that Tea light. No candles. There's a lot of wood around. What about tea lights? Sure will be.
16:50Mike Minogue:Can I do a little jasmine?
16:51Keyzie:Definitely no tea lights because, you know, they're the sort of things you forget and then boom, the whole thing's burnt down.
16:58Mike Minogue:Can he use the torch on his phone? Oh, yeah.
17:02Keyzie:In an emergency, sure. Now there's two areas. Are you going to sleep in the sleep out or in the main body? Well, when we went last time, we slept in the sleep out.
17:15Mike Minogue:So we'd quite like to switch it up and go in the main area. Right. Because there's two double beds. You've got like a little house here with a kitchen and stuff, double bed, and then another sleep out with a double bed and an en suite. So you want to go main house. So it'll be, I'm assuming, Jase, the rules around that is because you'll be going out with your partner. Yes. But separate beds? Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Because you're not married, are you?
17:36Keyzie:Not yet. Yeah. If Pugs had it his way, they would be married by now. And absolutely, can I just say, I nearly forgot this. When you get there, could you do a steamer in both toilets? Because it's a worm sewage system. Right, okay. And they haven't been fed for ages, those bastards. They'll be starving. So if you could take a dump in each toilet, that would be good. So I need to do one in both? It needs to be the same dump from the same person in both? Your partner can do one in one and you can do one in the other. You can sort of make yourselves.
18:04Mike Minogue:Let's not get bogged down in the bog. No, no, no. We want to make sure because the worms do need to be fed because if they die, you've got to shovel it. It's a nightmare.
18:11Keyzie:You literally. And when I say toilets, it's like a bucket. that's just in the corner of each bathroom. Oh, perfect.
18:17Mike Minogue:Nice bucket though, like a really nice one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:20Keyzie:Smell those stainless steel. Can I just say too, just on that front, the oven and so forth, that's not working at the moment. But the barbecue is, and if you could pick up a gas bottle on the way, you'll be fine. Like refill the existing one or pick up a brand new one? No, you'll have to pick up a brand new one because we don't have one down there at the moment. Is there somewhere close by to do that? Oh, you'll find it. Also, like my wife and I were there last, and we forgot to take the rubbish. So if you could just get rid of the rubbish, because it'll be a bit stinky when you get in there. Can I just take it with my rubbish at the end?
18:57Keyzie:Well, you'll need to put it out, because it'll reek by the time you get in there. Where did you leave it? Just in the kitchen. Just sitting in the middle of the kitchen? Yeah, and it's got cottage cheese and that sort of stuff in it. Also, I feel it's good to let you know, because I know what you like. What? What? That there are cameras in every room. So just tone back the - What, even the bathrooms? Yes, just tone down the - Especially the bathrooms. The Pugs aren't sort of normal action that you'd get up to over the weekend. I'm not sure what you mean.
19:29Mike Minogue:Jase, are the cameras there for security? Absolutely, yeah. So it's like a safety thing.
19:36Keyzie:But also, I want you to be reassured that my wife and I will be watching you, so you're not going to be alone if you're getting in any trouble. In that case, he should probably leave the lights on. I actually do leave the lights on. You do. When I get there? The whole time. And just on that, actually, you guys are going to be in the sleep out there because my wife and I will be in the main sort of part of the batch. A little foursome.
19:58Mike Minogue:That's great. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The time has officially come. Hoi DJ has had five weeks to learn one very simple piano song by Paul Buchanan. It was his New Year's resolution. we've decided to really hold him to it and hold him accountable. Yeah, like any absolute backbone, he's decided to cram at the very last minute. He didn't even have a keyboard until yesterday. And that was as a result of it being supplied to him by nothing that Jase did at all. The funniest thing was, Nick from Elliot's Music Academy sorts him out a keyboard thanks to the rock shop.
20:34Mike Minogue:And then after the show, Jase just goes, now I've got to take this back to my car. Yeah. So he was pissed off about it. How are you feeling, Jase? Good, thanks, Keezy. Yeah, good, good, good.
20:45Keyzie:Thanks for building it up so much, by the way, fellas. No worries, man. And thanks to Nick and Elliot School of Music and the Rock. Music Academy, yeah. Music Academy and the Rock Shop. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
20:56Mike Minogue:How good, eh? It's bloody good. So this right here is the tune that Jase is going to be performing for you very shortly. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. The day she fell in her knees
21:15Keyzie:Okay, stop it there.
21:17Mike Minogue:No. I don't know what time can be kept Alright, so that is the song Paul Buchanan mid-air. Jase, you've got the option here. Would you like fake crowd sound effects underneath you just to spice things up and make it sound a bit better like this?
21:33Mike Minogue:I think that's quite funny.
21:35Keyzie:It actually makes me tense up, Keezy. Okay, we'll use that as well then. Good. Good. So you want me to tense up. Yeah, good. All right. I don't know that I've got my seating right here either. Okay. You'll be fine. As we've learned over the years, Jase, no one's listening, brother. You'll be all right. Yeah, that's true. All right, Jase. Thank God we suck on the radio and no one actually listens to this show. Jase, here you go, brother.
22:02A very special performance. from Mr. Jason Hoy!
22:51Absolutely nailed it. Thank you very much, everyone. Wow. Pretty good.
22:56Keyzie:Is that the best version of that you've done? No, I was actually quite good at home. I was a bit tense there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I haven't got the subtleties of Paul Buchanan. Geez, I mean, imagine the thousands of children that have been inspired, Jase. Yeah, I hope so, Maggie. To now pick up the guitar.
23:15Mike Minogue:Good stuff, Jase. Let us know what you thought of it. Three, four, eight, three. In the meantime, let's get back to the goat countdown. In the 504. Yeah, good stuff, man.
23:21Keyzie:Number 504, the exponents. Who loves who the most?
23:26Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show.
23:28Keyzie:With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Kesey. June, smoke on the water there, dude. Deep Purple 503 feels.
23:35Mike Minogue:Pretty impressive, Deep Purple there, 503, because last year did not feature in The Goat. Wow, okay. Wow. Interesting. Which is crazy because that's an iconic riff. It is, absolutely. Bloody good. Yeah. Hey, if you've just joined us, unfortunately you've missed Hoity J's amazing keyboard performance. Look, you might have missed it, but let the texts on 3483 paint a picture for you. Brilliant, Jase, you should do more. That's true. Yeah. Thanks, mate. F-ing animal, Hoity J. nailed it brother what a backbone appreciate it mate incredible Jase I could feel the raw emotion in every staccato plonk on the keyboard thanks mate I like the word plonk there that's great beautiful Jase I love nursery rhymes yeah great performance Jase Kia Kaha Jason Hoyt I'm in tears unbelievable performance go Jase go
24:27Keyzie:yeah man
24:28Mike Minogue:this one here hey guys I won tickets to the Pixies last year but haven't received them. Cheers. My favourite one, though, is this one here. G'day, Jase. It's your teacher, Elliot, here. I heard your performance. Great job. You went a tad rogue, though. Not playing more colourful notes and fingers. So I think you boiled it down and boiled it back. Yes, yeah, yeah.
24:53Keyzie:That was a very basic rendition. Yeah.
24:56Mike Minogue:But well done, considering you only just got yourself a keyboard. I'm proud of you. next stop singing and playing 15 minutes a day of practice and i look forward to seeing you book
25:05Keyzie:in for your classes well i tell you what in all seriousness i look i know it was shed house but i i'm going to um i really enjoyed doing that today i spent about an hour doing that and i thought if i do that every day just have a little tutu and the nice thing that i discovered as i mentioned earlier in the show is that i discovered that my wife read reads music and she's quite nice on the piano. Right. So it's quite nice that she sits there and tinkers away. Well it's a good thing to be able to learn. You've got a little project for the year. That's right. You'll be able to chip away and of course maybe for your tune that you're going to play us next month, track number two off the album, maybe you can spend two days learning that one.
25:43Yeah exactly. See how you go with that.
25:45Keyzie:The great thing is they've got a keyboard now so there's no excuses at all. Oh there's no excuse but I'm sure we'll hear a few. Yeah maybe. There is another text that's come in here as well and it's a good question. did Jase play that with his honker? Yeah, good one.
26:02Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
26:08Keyzie:We were just discussing whether it is completely and utterly disgusting and foul people that allow their dogs to lick their faces. That's right. Mogi in particular was disgusted by that sort of behaviour. I'm absolutely disgusted by it. Honestly, it makes my skin crawl when I see that happening. And they've got their tongue. It's disgusting. Yes. Yeah, and honestly, and if it's friends of mine, if it's people I know, I actually think less of them as people if they let that out. What do you think of the dog?
26:39Mike Minogue:The dog's all good, though. Well, the dog's all good because the dog doesn't know any better. Yeah, the dog's just doing its thing. Just quickly, fellas, a few texts here on 3483. Is this technically pet chat? Ah, I guess it is. Yeah, yeah.
26:51Keyzie:Pet chat.
26:58Keyzie:With Jason Miley.
27:05Keyzie:I was always just on the old dogs because my dog was on the couch and all that sort of jazz and inside Mogey. Inside Mogey? And inside Mogey. That was only once. Yeah, she got overexcited. Oh, yeah. But I always used to be embarrassed because, you know, on the farm, of course, the dog is a working instrument. Especially your dog, a collie. And like you, Keezy, they're always outside. They go and do their job. They get chained up, get chucked a few tucks biscuits, and that's kind of the end of it.
27:35Mike Minogue:That makes it sound like I'm always outside and chained up and eating dog biscuits, the way you said that.
27:39Keyzie:Oh, did it?
27:40Mike Minogue:Yeah.
27:40Keyzie:But you know what I mean, though? Farmers, they don't muck around with dogs. No, that's right. They're there to do a job. Well, dogs are from... Whereas city folk are a bit softer.
27:48Mike Minogue:Dogs are animals. animals live outside. Do you know what I mean? That's so true, man. Yeah, yeah. Think about that for a second. Yeah, yeah. Hey, lots of texts on 3483. People agreeing, people disagreeing. Come on, lads. I'm sure you've all licked worse than a dog's mouth before. My pup gives me a little kiss goodbye every day. Yeah, but there's something in it when I'm licking something worse than a dog's mouth. There's no payoff.
28:11Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. And particularly, you know, without getting too gross about it, like we say, they clean themselves with their tongues. That's right. The nos, the bolos, or whatever they're running with.
28:21Mike Minogue:Well, it's the equivalent of you getting a flannel. Actually, Jase, you can probably do with a bit of this, to be honest. You rub it all over your downstairs and your undercarriage, and then you wipe that on your dog's face. Or no, you wipe it on your wife's face, for example. Or you wipe it on your own face. As a show of affection. As a show of affection, yeah. It's all good, because I'm part of your family, so I'm just going to rub my filth all over your face. Someone texting here on 3483, apparently it's their way of showing you that they're hungry. So I'm hungry. Here, take this ass rag and wipe it on your face.
28:50Mike Minogue:Can I have some food, please?
28:51Keyzie:Am I right in saying, and if there's any vets out there listening at the moment, text 213483. What's the full word for vet again?
28:59You can do it, man. Come on, sound it out, brother. Use your words. Oh, I tell you what. I now know what word I want Jase to say during the commentary on Saturday night.
29:09Keyzie:What is it? It's veterinarian. Veterinarian? Veterinarian. Yeah, there we go. But it suddenly just went weird in my head. But I don't know if this is true or not, but I believe there is some antiseptic kind of quality to the saliva of a dog. That works on their own injuries is possibly true, but I can say that animal experts are in agreement on one scientifically proven fact. It is highly unsanitary for your dog to lick around your face, eyes and nose. There are multiple infections that can be passed on, including staph infections. they carry various bacteria in their mouths that can be beneficial or non-effective for their own health.
29:46Okay, yeah, good. Good to know that. Yes, I mean, for me it's, yeah, you're mad. And I think we've got somebody here that may or may not agree with me. Anyway, it was saying something to the effect of dogs looking at your face is the most disgusting thing in the world. When I see it, I dry reach. These people need to be put in mental asylums. Best wishes, Chris. And I think that's a final word on it, actually. Yeah, I think that's a bit of an overreaction. No. Shut it down, Keezy. All right.
