Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keyzie. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Tune, man. That's a tune. That's a good tune, man.
0:09Keyzie:It's a really good tune. Hey, let's have some golf chat.
0:10Mike Minogue:Was that Alice in Chains? It was. Oh, wow. Tune. Golf chat with Double Bogey Mogey.
0:19Keyzie:Four.
0:26Mike Minogue:Yeah. Obviously, Mogey didn't actually play this weekend. No. No. Misleading. Yeah, so unfortunately, what would usually be a very moggy-heavy segment for this segment, Jase, you'll be running it. Yeah.
0:37Keyzie:Well, I was invited to play a tournament, as was Keezy, fellas. It was kind of a media sort of scenario. Radio announcers. An invitational. An invitational against the sort of networks, against each other sort of thing. And I'm always keen to have a round of golf, fellas. Sure. It was huge. Yeah, man. It was a big tournament. Were you nervous? No, I wasn't, actually. I was curiously just looking forward to having it. Even on the number one tee? Even on the number one tee, I was curiously just wanting to have a whack. Right. In fact, I got to the sixth hole and went, my God, I'm playing good. Up until that point, I hadn't thought of anything.
1:10Keyzie:Right. I was just hitting the golf ball.
1:11Mike Minogue:And then you started thinking about it.
1:12Keyzie:And then I, yeah, bottled it. But the key thing for me was Olmanaya Stewart from The Breakfast Show, Lane from the ACC, and Jerry Wells were also playing. Yes. And we were playing under what they call the Stableford rule.
1:27Mike Minogue:Yeah, so that's when you take your handicap and depending on how good you are at golf, they run it through the system. Yeah, it gets adjusted. And you get an amount of points depending on what you would usually hit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's confusing, I don't know.
1:38Keyzie:And as I was saying, you know, played really well on the front nine, fellas. Shat my pants on the back nine. What'd you hit? Well, I don't actually know because the other guy was keeping the score. Oh, how good. Yeah, but...
1:49Mike Minogue:So the way it works, Moggy, traditionally is you keep each other's score. Right. But Jase is used to me just keeping both of our scores. so the other guy would have got his scorecard out at the end and had nothing.
2:00Keyzie:Something like that. But, yeah, bloody lovely course. Great day. Great atmosphere. It was very good.
2:07Mike Minogue:Did you win the – because the idea was Marty, the guy who organised it, good fella, he went out and got like a jacket, I think, from an op shop. It might even be a nice jacket.
2:15Keyzie:No, it was a nice jacket. Got it embroidered. Tweed. Yeah.
2:18Mike Minogue:Tweed. Got it embroidered with like a crest. Yes. And the idea is the winner, just like the Masters. gets the jacket. And they keep it? They keep it.
2:27Keyzie:Till the next tournament. Oh, so that's right. Yeah, yeah. So it's a yearly thing. Yeah. So, you know, at the end of the day, fellas, I was pretty damn happy with my performance. I got a podium finish, which I think is a pretty remarkable achievement. Which was what? Third. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
2:43Mike Minogue:Far out. That's good for you guys.
2:44Keyzie:That is bloody good. I beat Lane. I beat Minara. I beat Jerry. Yeah. Yeah. Look at this guy over here. Third place, fellas. Not bad. Wow. It's pretty bloody good. Yeah, man. And how big was the field? Six people.
3:00Six. So you sort of finished in the middle of the field. Middle of the pack, really. Yeah. You finished in the middle of the pack, but also third.
3:07Mike Minogue:Yeah. Doesn't seem like third. The podium's probably for at least seven people. Like, if you're going to have a podium. Yeah. Right. I think seven's the minimum.
3:16Keyzie:Did they actually have a podium? No, we were just sitting at the bar, they having a beer and drinking fries. Drinking fries. Eating fries. I was drinking fried. But it was really interesting because Minaya, he had a shocker. Did he? And he was forced to keep his score properly. Ah, interesting. What did he shoot? What did he shoot? I don't know that either, but he had a shocker. He had a shocker.
3:39Mike Minogue:I'll have to ask him, actually.
3:40Keyzie:But he did wear his new golf shoes, which he's never played in before. And he's owned for four months. Yeah.
3:46Mike Minogue:Oh, well, that's good stuff, man. Congratulations.
3:48Keyzie:So I did the big show proud, fellas. Yeah, good on you, brother. I did douche them.
3:51Mike Minogue:Did you miss me, man? No. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Big Show Swingers Club is back. And this time, it's going global. Go Fiji, fellas.
4:06Keyzie:Doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh.
4:10Mike Minogue:Are you excited, Mogi? I am, man. I can't wait to get laid. You know, you get off the plane and they put like 20 lays on you.
4:16Keyzie:All right. Yeah. Bula. Oh, I went a bit croaky. Racism alert.
4:22Mike Minogue:Racism alert. God, it's a bit delayed, isn't it? The racism alert usually is sharper than that.
4:28Keyzie:But you guys were talking about doing a bit of scuba diving.
4:31Mike Minogue:Yeah. Well, snorkeling.
4:33Keyzie:Yeah, snorkeling, yeah. I'm a bit freaked out by that. Have you heard of the stonefish?
4:38Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, you have to bring your water shoes.
4:40Keyzie:Yeah, have you guys got water shoes? Yeah, no, I haven't. I think I have some rock booties, but I don't have any water shoes. What are they? Are they like flippers?
4:49Mike Minogue:I think they're like rock booties.
4:50Keyzie:Well, they're kind of like rock booties, but they're not as sturdy as a rock bootie. Oh, right. Water shoes. Yeah, water shoes. Like floaters. No. No, well, you see, if Keezy was wearing those... I could probably walk on water. Yeah, you could walk on water.
5:05Mike Minogue:Because they're land kayaks. Yeah, I get it. We are going to Fiji. We're going to play golf, too, because we are staying at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa. It is the Hodaki Swingers Club International. we are playing at a championship level course designed by Vijay Singh. This is bloody exciting stuff. I can't believe it. Yeah. It really is.
5:27Keyzie:Jase is fizzed. Hey, g'day, Dave, you mad bastard. How's life? Ah, good, thanks.

5:32Mike Minogue:Buller, you mad bastard.
5:34Keyzie:Yeah, buller, mate, Dave. Buller, you mad dog. Let's go. Tell me, Dave, what do you do for a crust?
5:42Mike Minogue:Semi-retired. Oh, yeah, nice. Backbone. Massive backbone. Semi-backbone. Semi-retired are the backbones of this country. Yeah, man. Dave. I've been waiting a while to do it. Good on you, Dave. That sounds good, actually.
5:54Keyzie:What did you do?
5:55Mike Minogue:Huh? I play a lot of golf. Yeah, good on you, mate. Yeah, Dave. Yeah, what else am I going to do? Good stuff, Dave. We'll chuck you in the draw, man. If you win, who are you going to take with you, man? Yes. Well, I've got two mates. My mate, Noel. He just recently shot under 80. Oh, how good. Noel's he? Yeah. So I'm not going to invite him. Yeah, that's good, Dave. So I've got another mate, Russell. Oh, Russell. And he's lucky to crack 100. Yeah, yeah. He sounds like the boy. Yeah, a bit like Keezy. You don't want someone beating you in BG. Yeah, no, good on you. Good on you, Dave. So I'd better play with Hawkey J.
6:33Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, good on you, mate. Stay on the line, Dave.
6:37Keyzie:And I'll punch you.
6:39Mike Minogue:Can you put a big thumbs up next to Dave, folks?
6:42Keyzie:Yeah, we're circling that. G'day, Todd, you mad bastard. How's life?
6:45Mike Minogue:Go on, guys. All hours. All good. All good, thank you.
6:49Keyzie:Good on you, mate. What do you do for a crust?
6:51Mike Minogue:Well, what I do for a crust is I wear the same undies for a month. Oh, here he is. Okay, okay, good. Okay. Rusty, that's yucky.
7:02Keyzie:There's nothing wrong with it, can you? Really?
7:03Mike Minogue:Wearing the same undies for a month?
7:04Keyzie:It's environmentally sound. It's looking after the climate, man. Sure. The fish are going to be all over this bastard when he's out there having a snorkel. They won't be staying anywhere near the reef. They'll be right after you.
7:16Mike Minogue:Yeah. Todd with your undies. Hey, Todd. That's about right.
7:20Keyzie:Do you like golf?
7:22Mike Minogue:A little bit too much, according to my family. Yeah, sure, mate.
7:25Keyzie:I hear you. I hear you. Actually, my wife loves me playing golf. Gets me out of the house.
7:31Mike Minogue:Yeah, indeed. Yes.
7:33Keyzie:What's your handicap?
7:36Mike Minogue:My golf. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay.
7:41Keyzie:Good on you, mate. Stay on the line and pug some. We'll saw you out. All right? You're in the drawer.
7:45Mike Minogue:Good on you, guys. Good on you, brother. All the best with it. Good luck. It's exciting, man. It is exciting. It's all thanks to Fiji Airwaves. Airways. I keep saying airwaves. You do. Because we're on the airwaves. We don't want to circle it. Yeah, I didn't want to. You're sort of pros. You just sort of keep going.
7:59Keyzie:Yeah, just not make a big issue out of it.
8:02Mike Minogue:Well, I just thought I'd point it out before you guys did. Fiji Airways, the Intercontinental, and, of course, Tourism Fiji. Because Fiji is where happiness comes naturally, fellas, which I didn't realise.
8:11Keyzie:Yeah, totally.
8:12Mike Minogue:It's amazing.
8:13Keyzie:I'm going to be certainly happy when I'm sitting at the buffet there. Tucking in. Tucking into fresh fruits. Bit of bacon action. Some hashies.
8:23Mike Minogue:Good on you, man. Some baked beans. Actually, just quickly, Jase, you'd be happy to know we've had the most texts we've had in ages about whether or not you should do poos in this world. Everyone massively in favour of yes.
8:35Keyzie:Yeah, okay, good. Well, I'll wait for you guys to leave, obviously. I'll have that much respect. Thanks to the listeners. Here's the Arctic Monkeys.
8:46Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
8:52Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the cult there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time, 4.26. Fellas, my cousin came back from the US today. Oh, wow, that's great, man. Congrats. Yeah, that's great. Awesome, man. Thanks, so good. He texted me from the airport. He said, I'm on my way. Ah. So just sort of left him on red there. You'll know that I've been having a few issues with my cars of late. The Tita truck and the Aqua truck have both packed up various issues that they've had. The Tita's packed up as well. Oh, the Tita's on its last legs. You know how it's done 1.7 million Ks? The Nissan Tita.
9:32The Tita. Wow. Unbelievable. And that's just sort of running around town. It's a weapon of a car. It's a sale if you want it, Keezy.
9:38Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'd be really keen. Eight, yeah.
9:40Keyzie:Because you've been looking for a Tita, eh?
9:42Mike Minogue:100 % and whenever I think of oh man I need to get a good car I always think oh. Whenever I think of Keezy I think Tita. Yeah yeah yeah and I always think good cars I should probably ask Moggy if any of his are for sale. Yeah good idea you're in luck. Can I have the Aqua as well? Yes. Yes you can. I'll give you 10 grand for it. Anyway so the issue I had was the night before I left, the night before my cousin left to go to the US he was staying at my place and the night before he said is it okay if I leave my car? here for the next three months. The night before he left. The night before, without a word of a lie.
10:17And it's like, well, actually, that would be a bit of a pain in the ass because we have to park it on the street, move cars around, blah, blah, blah. And he said, oh, well, look, it's okay if you want to drive it. And I said, oh, well, then in that case, that's fine. That'll be sweet. So we drove it. And over time, I've come to be quite attached to it over the last three months. Yeah. It meant I could park my vehicles up or sort of one of them at a time and not put any Ks on it. And it's like having a rental, you know? You can just thrash it. Yeah, yeah, rip the shit out of it. And this vehicle is worth a lot more money, weirdly, than my Tita and my Aqua combined.
10:57What is it?
10:58Mike Minogue:Like a Rolls-Royce or a Mercedes? Oh, it's a 2025 Holden Commodore. That's weird. I thought they stopped making those. I know, because they stopped making them. Yeah, yeah. But they're a Monaro. Is that what they are out of the States? Yeah. So anyway, so that's what he's got. And it goes like the clappers. And my problem is I don't want to give it back to him. Right. So he's come back today. I didn't answer his text. And I just sort of feel like I've been looking after it for three months. He's abandoned it. Yeah, but fair call, man, fair call. And so, I mean, if he really cared about it, would he have?
11:33Mike Minogue:Like without even pre-planning, he knew he was going away. He just abandoned it. He did. And you took it in. That's right. Under my wing. Under your wing.
11:41Keyzie:I reckon in that sort of scenario, he forfeited his rights. Looter's rights. Correct. Well, you're not even looting because he abandoned. Yes.
11:50Mike Minogue:And he left it on your property.
11:52Keyzie:That's right.
11:53Mike Minogue:With the keys. With the keys, exactly. And what is it, a Holden Commodore Monaro 2025? Well, I'm not too sure. I don't really know my cars. But it's a fast one. Right, it is fast? It is fast, yeah. Goes like the clappers. So I'm just sort of thinking, I mean, the tricky thing here is family. and I know that he is going to want it back. Okay. You know what you do is text him, say, hey, sorry, man. Yeah. Missed your text. My phone was on silent. Yes. Boom. Instantly he's like, oh, Mogi hasn't completely ignored me. Yeah, good. Then you go, should we catch up at the pub? Yes. And I'll give you your car.
12:27Yeah. The other great thing is I've moved. You've moved house. Yeah, nice. He doesn't know where I moved too. He doesn't know where you are.
12:32Mike Minogue:Oh, perfect. Yeah, see. So go to the pub, meet him there. Yeah. have a few with him, and I have quite a few responsibles, right? Get your wife to show up and say, oh, I can drive you home in your car if you want. Oh, yeah. So he hops in his car, she drives him home, and then Ubers back to your new place, which he doesn't know where it is. Yes. In the meantime, you've swapped all the badges over. Yes. Is that registration, license plate thingies? The whole thing, so that he's actually driving off in your teeter. Nice. And you get to keep, what was it, the 2025 Holden Commodore Monaro from the States.
13:06Mike Minogue:You get to keep that. You know what I mean? I reckon because he'd be steamed. He'd be hammered, yeah. It's worth a shot. I just think. Yeah, I don't know. What would you do, Jase?
13:15Keyzie:Yeah, well, look, I wouldn't even bother with all that palaver. I'd just say no, sorry.
13:20Mike Minogue:It's just yours.
13:21Keyzie:I'm keeping it.
13:22Mike Minogue:Yeah.
13:23Keyzie:Tough titties.
13:24Mike Minogue:Would you give him your one?
13:26Keyzie:Mate, I love my cars, and there's no way he's getting his filthy hands on my axler. Especially not a hot and common old Monaro from the States. Yeah, yeah.
13:35Mike Minogue:Well, it's a dilemma. 3483. Feel free to text through. What? It can't be a 2035. They don't make Holdens anymore. 2035? It's not a 2035. Come on, man. Wake up. Don't be ridiculous, mate. They don't make those anymore. Jeez, don't you know you, Kaz? The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
13:50Keyzie:Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. My stiffy there in excess on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening, 13 minutes past 6 o 'clock. Fellas, I've got a new car. Oh, how good. Well done, man. Yeah, well done. Mogi. Mogi. Mogi. Mogi. Mogi. Mogi. Okay, enough. God, she's a bloody ripper, man. I haven't had... I know the Aqua truck is unbelievable. The Teeter truck has been a great servant to my whanau, but having a new car, something that costs over sort of four, four and a half Gs. Yeah, man. Sweet. This is living, man. I've gone with an EV. Wow. That stands for electric... Vehicle?
14:37Hang on, man.
14:38Mike Minogue:Wow. Vehicle. You jumping in just then, that was like crazy. It was so fast. It was so fast. I know. And it just means that it runs on electricery, so I don't have to worry about putting any fossil fuels in it. Because what kind of car you got? Me? Yeah.
14:57Keyzie:I'm cycling to work at the moment. I don't have a car. Is that because you're doing your bit for the planet? Totally, man. Yeah, what about you, Keezy, your dog? He's running his filthy truckie. I've got a V8 truck, man. Do you not see what's happening in the world out there, Keezy, man? Global warming. Yeah. You know, things getting hotter. Look at all the issues we have in winter with all these storms, these floods, Keezy. What? And you're driving around in a truck. In a V8 truck, man.
15:23Mike Minogue:Yeah, but Mogi, listen, man, that truck's from 1967, man, and I'm keeping it going, you know. No, man. I'm reusing.
15:31Keyzie:That's why I don't go through Te Atatou, because Keezy drives around there, and it's just pollution everywhere, man. Yes, exactly. Black clouds are smart. It's shocking, man.
15:42Mike Minogue:I drive it once a week. Man. It's terrible. So anyway, I've gone the clean green route. Good on you, man. And what that means is, Jay, so you have to charge it up. And normally, you know, we'll see around, I think it does about, you know, six, seven hundred Ks, something like that. That's good. But my trick is you've got to charge it overnight. Yeah. You see there. Yeah, plug it in in the garage. You've got to plug it in. Well, the problem is I've moved into our new house and we don't have a driveway. Right. So I've got no driveway and I was a little bit sus on running an extension cord out of the house.
16:14Oh, is it parked on the street? Yes, and it's not, you know, yeah, so I've got it out on the street. So I went down to old Hyerpool there and I got one of the old diesel generators. Oh, yeah, good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you just fill that up with a couple of your hundred litres of diesel. It's cheap as that. Just run that all night and just plug that bastard into the old car there. Wake up in the morning, it's almost half full, half charged up.
16:39Mike Minogue:I mean, doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of running an EV? Like you're running a – you may as well just drive around in a diesel, man. No, but I'm not using any petrol keys. Look, it's very easy for you to try and, you know, shame me, but I'm the one that's actually doing something. Yeah, right. You're making no effort. You bet you still use plastic bags, man. I mean, I'm cycling for God's sakes, Keezy. Right. I don't often use plastic bags, actually. This car goes zero to 100. Yeah, but in how many seconds, Mogi? Like, every car goes zero to 100. It doesn't matter, Keezy. The point is it gets up to 100 Ks.
17:14Mike Minogue:Yeah, right, okay. Did you hire the generator? Yeah. You hired it? Yeah, it's about 400 a day. Right. How often do you charge it? How long are you going to use it for? Charge it. I don't need to. It's on diesel. It's got diesel. No, no, not the generator. The car. The car. So you've hired a generator to charge your brand new car, which you've purchased. Are you going to hire that every day? Well, they're not just going to give it to me, Keaton. Wake up, man. What the hell is up with you at the moment? The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
