In short

“Work love triangle” debate about “work wife/work husband” (and related roles), plus listener calls, TV reviews, competitions, and workplace/household banter.

Guests/backgrounds

No external guests. Hosts are Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keyzie (Keezy/Pugsan/“Old Hoity Jay” references are recurring host personas).

Key claims

A “work wife” is a co-worker (often opposite sex) who becomes an emotional-support best mate, not an affair. The hosts joke that someone can’t have multiple work spouses, and they argue over who qualifies as whose “work husband/wife/mistress.” They also claim Reburger will provide voucher codes via approved “code words.”

Notable examples

Pugsan “chooses” his work wife as the same person as his partner; Jase jokes about curling up/stroking hair and even “suckling” (played for laughs). Phone-in winners discuss taking wives vs mates to Fiji. Advice segment targets an “anal” vegetarian boarder upset about fish sauce in dipping sauce.

0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger.

0:09Keyzie:Don't fight it. It's time to go up a size. This is the biggest, biggest, biggest, biggest, this is the biggest, our biggest show. The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day, you mad bastards. Great to have your company this moody Wednesday afternoon. It is the 24th of September 2025, and you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, and that, my friends, is brought to you by Reburger. Seven good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway Reburger today. Reburger. G'day, Keezy. Hello. How are you, man? You're wearing your prison jacket today. Jase, I thought we agreed not to comment on the clothes anymore.

0:50Oh, did we? When did we agree then? Oh, okay. Well, if we are then. Pugs. Hello. How are you? Yeah, I'm good, man. How are you? Yeah, really good. You're wearing your prison jacket today. Yeah, I am, man. Thanks for noticing. I genuinely look to you for fashion stuff. Oh, I'm sorry. Is it like a thing to wear like a woolly vest over a T-shirt? I've never seen that. Is that a thing that you can do now? It is right now, brother. Is it? Is it like a cool thing to do? I don't know. I feel pretty cool. It's like, you know, I mean, my arms are cool. You know what I'm saying? But my torso, Keesey, my bodice is toasty.

1:25I think it looks cool.

1:26Keyzie:Yeah, you look really good, mate. Oh, cheers, Josh, man. If I could compare back in my heyday, the look was the old waistcoat with nothing underneath it. Oh, that's right. And in your heyday too, all the jackets had like tails and everyone wore like really big top hats and monocles. No. And all the bicycles had a massive front wheel and a tiny back wheel. Is that right? Except for you, it's a custom auto one that just had two of the tiny back wheels. You know, I was backing you up there, Pugs. Were you? And you just threw me under the bus, mate. Do they have buses back then? We'll work that out through the show, eh?

2:00Keyzie:Speaking of the show, hey, Keezy. What's going on? What's coming up, man?

2:08What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogey? Old Keezy, actually. Coming up on the big show today, of course, another chance to get yourself in the draw to join us in Fiji. Make sure you stay tuned and get ready to call 0800-HODAKI. We'll do that a couple of times today. It's going to wrap up soon. Also, up next, I want to discuss the idea of having a work wife. Are you? Yeah. So if you have a work wife.

2:32Keyzie:How many wives do you need, Keezy? No, Jase, come on, man. It's not like that. I'm not looking to have an affair or anything. Is your wife's cousin getting a job here? Well, I don't even know what you're talking about, Pugs. 3483, do you have a work wife? All techs in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. Who sings this song? News! The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Metallica there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time, 4.12. It is 4.12. Just a reminder, old Mogi, he's off this week. He'll be back on Monday. Yes. In the meantime, you've got Keezy, Pugsan and old Hoody Jay.

3:05And fellas, my wife was actually chatting about something last night. and she mentioned a specific term which was work wife. Yeah. Your work wife. Have you ever heard of this term? I have. Yes, I have, Keezy. And so I didn't know what a work wife was. You can also have a work husband and it's basically someone, a co-worker of yours, usually the opposite sex, so you're just best mates with, you share a great relationship with them and you just refer to them as like your work wife or your work husband.

3:34Keyzie:They're kind of like emotional support. Yeah. They fulfil the tasks. Well, you know. Because you set tasks at home with your regular wife, eh? You know, they perform the sort of duties. Duties, even. Oh, duties. They perform the stuff. The role? The role of, you know, of your emotional support person. 100%. And I was thinking, like, who's my work wife here at work? Yeah. And obviously, Hodaki, for better or worse, it is very male dominant. We've got Kate out in the office. She's sort of like a work sis to me, I think. And I was thinking, who would it actually be? And I think my work wife might actually be Pugsan.

4:20Me? I think you might be my work wife.

4:24Keyzie:It's funny you should say that, actually, Keezy, because I kind of feel like, you know, how we've just explained it, that Pugsan is my work wife as well. Oh, right. But when I'm feeling emotionally fragile, for example. You always run to Pugs. Yeah, I just go and curl up in his lap and he just strokes my hair. It sounds like you're under the buzzy there. It sounds more like you're his work cat. Right, okay, so Pugs. Hello. Who are you going to choose out of me and Jase? Well, can I just say how grateful I am to be that person that really fulfills those tasks. Those duties. And those duties. That Jase expects.

5:00That Jase expects from your partner at home, Jase. Well, look, when I'm really distressed at work,

5:05Keyzie:and I don't mind admitting this, and I think it's okay to admit it, I might have a little suckle with old Pugs on there. Just a comforting... On my buzzy? Yes. Once again, that's not really what you're supposed to do with your work wife. No, no. Well, no one's ever ready to find a work wife for me. You know what I mean? Right. Who are you choosing, Pugs? Well, I've got... You can't have two work wives. My partner works in the same building, So I'm fortunate enough that that can be the same person for me. Your actual partner. Yeah. Oh, my God, are you married already? No, no, no. I mean, you've only just started going.

5:40No, no, no. Because you're just boyfriend and girlfriend, right? So to say that she's your work wife is pretty full on. That is rapidly developing. I feel like you're moving at a rate of knots here, pugs. You guys have got to chill out. Well, what is she, your work partner? That's not a real thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My work girlfriend.

5:59Keyzie:friend my work partner's completely separate from my work wife right so i'm your work wife you're my work wife you were saying you're also running a work mistress as well yes yeah so it's it's just pugs we need to be clear here because quite clearly you've been you've been stringing me along you've been stringing jace along we both thought we were your work husbands listen i haven't given you guys any indication no matter how much sucklings going on or stroking right i've given you no indication that I'm fulfilling those tasks that you set for your wife at home, Jase. Right. So what you need to do right now though, Jase, not Jase, Pugs, sorry, I need you to decide who is your work husband?

6:37Is it me? Is it Jase? Or is your girlfriend upstairs your work wife? You have to pick one of those three things. Can I pick Mogi? No. Because he's Jase's work mistress. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. The Big Show Swingers Club is back. And this time, it's going global. So excited about this. Really? Yeah, genuinely. Why, is it because we're flying to Fiji, staying at a really nice resort, the Intercontinental, and playing a championship golf course? Yes.

7:17Keyzie:And, of course, I get to hang with the fellas. You know, often in situations where, you know, you have your workmates. Or your work wife. Or your work wife. Or your work sugar baby. Or sugar daddy. You end up in a situation where your workmates, you go out into a social situation. It can be really awkward. Yeah, you're right. You know what I mean? Yeah. But with us, because we're just such great mates and lovers, and we're all just one big happy sort of group of fellas. I'm really looking forward to it. I think, you know, the stuff we've been through, especially a couple of trips to Magic Round.

7:53Yes. You know, trips to Jase's Batch, things like that. We've bonded, and there's no going back. It's safe to say that any one of us could end any of the other people's careers. Careers, very easily. With the stuff that we've shared with one another. Yeah, man. And the exciting news is one of the listeners and a mate of theirs could potentially be in that same little family with us. How good. We've ruined our career as well. Yeah, that's true.

8:15Keyzie:How good. Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Joseph, you mad bastard. How's life? Life is bloody good. Woody J, how's your life going today? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Can't complain. Thanks for asking. Hey, Joseph, what do you do for a crust, mate? I work in irrigation sales and design. Oh, backbone. Backbone. Arrigation. Backbone. You must live down in Christchurch then. Yeah, beautiful, Dan. Sunny old Christchurch today. Yeah, they love an irrigator down there, Jase. And that's the other thing about Fiji, fellas. I'm predicting beautiful weather. I thought you were going to say there's heaps of alligators over there.

8:50Well, there might be. There's actually alligators over there. Are there? Yep. Wow. There's something new every day, don't we all?

8:57Keyzie:We do. Joseph, do you play a bit of golf, do you, mate? In the driving range and on the computers games, yes. Perfect. Okay, great stuff. And who would you take with you if you were lucky enough to win? I had to take my wife because she's looking at me very, you know, So if you don't be able to let you off your sleeve, so I kind of feel like I am to. Yeah, but you don't want to, you were saying off air, though. That's what you were saying to me when we were on the phone in Studio B, Joseph. I just, yeah, would just argue the whole time. Sort of like, oh, anyone but the wife is what you were saying to me.

9:29Keyzie:She wouldn't want me playing golf. Literally just then. Yeah, you were saying that, to be honest, it's just an excuse to get away from the wife is what you were saying. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, nice. Yeah, good on you, mate. You're officially in the draw, man. Good luck. Awesome, thank you. Thanks, mate. G'day, Owen, you mad bastard. How's life? How we going, boys? Good. Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Whereabouts are you calling from, Owen? I'm calling from Grey Mouth. Oh! Backbone! And what do you do for a crust, Owen? I'm a tutor for the digger school here at the Polytech. A tutor for the digger school.

10:00I feel like that's a first on the show. You're literally educating the next generation of backbones, Owen. That's it. That's what I'm doing. Oh, religion. I'm here making a difference.

10:09Keyzie:Is that serious? Chase? I'm serious. So you're a tutor and you teach people how to dig stuff. Yep. Dig a hole for the hole. Pretty short course then, Owen? Do you play golf, man? I do. What's your handicap, mate?

10:33I don't play golf that much. Come on. Oh, okay. Yeah, like casual. I like it. So you'll be in good stead playing with mogie and pugs then. And if you were to win, Owen, who would you bring with you on the trip, mate? I'm going to take one of the best mates. What's his name or her name? Stephen. Stephen. She's great. Old Steve. It's the Stephen I'm thinking. He's from Grey Mouth as well, right? No, he's in Kaikoura, actually. Oh, Kaikoura. Holy cow. Are you sure you want to bring him?

11:03Keyzie:Well, you stay on the line as well, Owen, and you're in the draw, mate. He's in the draw, yeah. He doesn't have to stay on the line, actually. Stay on the line, though, Owen. Well, if you want. Stay on the line, brother. He can hang out on the line. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stay on that line. There's just no one in Studio B. Oh, yeah. Of course, you're doing four jobs today, aren't you, Pugs? Everyone, text in support for Pugs on 3483 because he's doing four jobs today. And he's doing all of them very well. He is. Wow, he's in a horror of a movie. Well, also, he hasn't fired off the song yet, which I probably would have done by now.

11:30Oh, okay. Should we just chill in this then?

11:36Just jokes, guys. Guys, this is a tune. Jase? Can you say the name of the band, man? Jase. Put your glasses on. It's the Stereophonics Dakota. The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.

11:53Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Green Day there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

12:08Keyzie:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

12:14Yes. Yes. This is, I hate the year at the start of this TV segment for some reason because usually we do it for ages and then when it gets to my turn to talk about TV, there's not enough time left. Do you know what I mean?

12:28Keyzie:Well, I mean, if you spend less time complaining about the years, you probably have time to do your TV check. Now we've sort of cut into your time to talk about TV. I mean, let's be honest. I mean, you're starting to get on, bang on about some painful sort of British comedy or some housing development from Aria. Yeah, last night I watched Seven Periods with Mr. Gormsby and it sucked. That's a joke. I love that show. It's a classic. What did you watch, Jase? Now, I started watching a series called Accused. I've heard about this. Written by a very famous author, Jimmy McGovern, who is a British writer, wrote the magnificent series Cracker with Robbie Coltrane.

13:09Keyzie:Magnificent series what? Cracker, it was called. Oh, yeah, with Robbie Coltrane. Hagrid. Yes, Hagrid. Wow. Have you never seen Cracker? Nah. Cracker. Cracker! It is magnificent. You've got to watch it. Would my wife like it? Well, it's about a detective who has a massive alcoholic, but it's just very well done. Right, okay. Sort of a tortured soul, isn't it? Yeah, very tortured soul. Like the classic brilliant detective, terrible personal life. Oh, so like a Broken Wood situation? No. Oh. And Accused is, I think, about seven episodes long, and they're all separate stories. And it's basically people being accused of crimes and following them through the process of, you know, what happens, you know, through the story.

13:57Keyzie:They go to court. Are they found guilty? Are they not found guilty? That's interesting. And it's pretty good. It's pretty gritty. I would say it's kind of, yeah, sort of solid British drama. Nice. How many buzzies out of five, where did you watch it? Prime 2.8 buzzies. Right, and it's called the accused. Accused. Right. Last night, we were watching Grand Designs, seriously, and then the TVNZ Plus app cut out and we couldn't get it to go again. Had to stop. Yes. My wife then said, oh, what if I just kept on watching The Summer I Turned Pretty? Yes. Which is a show that Pugs and everyone else in the world is obsessed with at the moment.

14:31So she started watching that And I said that's fine I'll do some stuff on my laptop So I was on my laptop Listening to it in the background And as a joke I said I'm team Conrad Yeah And then she was like No We're team Jeremy Jeremiah No way she's team Jeremiah Because she's only like In the second season And so she's still got a lot to go I understand I have no idea Okay But that got her rucked up And then It was It's shit

14:59Keyzie:It's shit I give it like 1.5 buzzies out of five. Yeah, good. And what's that on, man? Prime. Nice. I'm very excited to hear about Pugsans TV review because he's been banging on about this show forever. What's it called? Virgins. What? What's that? What's that about? Tell us about it, man, because I'm intrigued. What the hell? I don't know what. What have you been watching? I was going to say I was watching Seinfeld last night. Oh, yeah? Because I actually was. What season? Season three. What episode? Honestly, I didn't watch it long It didn't capture me long enough Yeah It's alright I used to love it But now it's like Why are you pretending you weren't watching Virgins?

15:44And how many buzzies do you give it? To be fair, Virgins Heaps of buzzies Yeah, good on you mate Out of five And what platform were you watching that on? Which hub was it?

15:58What? God, this is a tune Is this you too? The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

16:05Keyzie:You too there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time, five minutes to five. Plenty coming up after five on the old Hauraki Big Show. Another chance to get yourself in the draw to join us in Fiji. This competition is ending on Monday. Wow. So you need to stay listening. You need to call 0800-HAURAKI when you hear that cue to call and you can be playing golf with us in Fiji. Also after five pugs. Hello. Mate coming around tonight for dinner. Yeah. And you've got a bit of a situation there where you need him to leave kind of early. Yeah, well, this is the thing. I had the plans before we found out we were doing breakfast tomorrow and Friday.

Read the full transcript

16:38And so now I'm very aware of the fact I've got to have an early night, but I've already got the plans for him to come around. Yeah, so FYI, we're doing brekkie tomorrow. Me, Jason Pugs, we'll be doing brekkie tomorrow and Friday. Just FYI for those listening. And Jase says here, are you going to invite us around? Wow, we'll just wait and see, shall we, Phil?

16:55Keyzie:This is pretty exciting news. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your hump day tickety-boo. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan and veg-o options. Reburger, redefining the norm. Yum. Some good news on the Reburger front, fellas. This is probably off-air, Admin. So if I'm going to do it on here, I probably should have called a show meeting. No. No, we are all good. We're done with show meetings. Unless it's a show meeting about the amount of show meetings Don't want to hear it Same Okay well this is just random chit chat then You're that painful flatmates that always calls flat meetings Bitching about someone eating your egg Why is it always Actually that'd piss me off Why Jase You've said this before Why is it always eggs?

17:46Did you eat someone's eggs at some point?

17:48Keyzie:I'm sure I did But no we had a very painful flatmate That was always complaining about stuff But you're eating their eggs And you'd eat an egg and they'd go, flag meeting! Because you're stealing their eggs. Well, yeah, if you stole my eggs, I would be calling a meeting. Well, I had one egg. I mean, come on, man. Really? Was it one egg? It might have been two or three, but look, no big deals, man. I've seen what you like with bags of chips, man. Yes, you, I think you might be a kleptomaniac. I think you get off on stealing stuff. Because you're a hummoo, James. You're a massive hummoo, man. You're an egg hummoo.

18:20But as I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted there, some great news come through from Reburger. Our people have talked to their people, organizing some vouchers for the fellas to go and have dinner. You're joking. Because we go there all the time, but we're using our cold hard cash. Yeah. Because we love it. Because we love it.

18:35Keyzie:And don't think I don't resent that. I do too, because I'm banging on about it all the time. Same. Love it. And so we've heard, apparently the way it's going to work is there'll be a code word. The code word has been approved. Each of us has our own code word. And you just say it at any Reburger store, and you've got a credit there of a couple of hundred bucks or something. You're joking. How good. Pugs, your code word is backbone. No, no, no, no, no. What? Well, you just told everyone Pugs is... I would have thought his code word was buzies. Well, we can change it to buzies. That's for a different way of saying it.

19:07Okay, sorry. Yeah, yeah. Sorry. I don't know how to undo this, Pugs. No, that's cool. Why don't we just swap code words since you've done that? So I'll have yours off air, man. Thanks, bro. Okay. That'd be great. Jase, why don't you just walk in there and take a burger? Why don't you just hum a re-burger, man? Well, you know. Do you want to know what your code word is? Yes. Chode.

19:27Keyzie:Yeah, I like it. You've got to walk in and just say it confidently and then they'll give you a wink. And like at a high volume so the staff can hear you. Chode. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. The Cure there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 12 minutes past five o 'clock. Now, fellas, I'm very aware of the fact, and it's oft been discussed, the fact that old Hoity Jay has never invited the fellas to his house for like a dinner or something like that. And I've been reflecting upon that over the last couple of weeks. A couple of years.

20:09Keyzie:Well, a couple of years. And I kind of feel like the time has come. And so I would like to offer a formal invitation to you, Pugsan and Keezy and Mogi, and your very, very, very, very, very attractive partners. That's five verys, Jase. Yeah, it's too much. It's a lot. I'd like to officially invite you all to Christmas food and nibbles and drinks at Hoity J's. Right. So this is on Christmas Day? No, well, this is the thing. because I'm thinking Christmas, it's such a busy time. Well, that's the thing because I'm thinking he's intentionally done it on Christmas Day. I agree, yeah. No, no, no. We will say no.

20:56No, no. We've got our own families and stuff.

20:59Keyzie:Why would you go there immediately? I'm just saying Christmas, you know, drinks and nibbles, and I'm aware of the fact that Christmas can be a very precarious time. Didn't use as many verys there. You know, you're trying to, you know, manage so many things. There's so many parties going on, and I know that you wouldn't want to miss this scenario. So get your calendars out. I'm thinking 15th of Jan, 2026, drinks and nibbles at Hoity J's. Why did you pick the 15th of Jan? Yeah, that's like an oddly specific date. I just feel like that the Christmas period is so chocker. I don't want to put extra stress on you guys.

21:40Keyzie:And I want to make sure that you've got plenty of time. We'll probably be back doing the big show next year Who knows What day is the 15th Jase? I'm not sure It's a Thursday Oh yeah Thursday Yeah yeah yeah It's the night before the Black Clash OB That we're going down to Tauranga for Oh bugger is it? Yeah so that probably won't work But that's all good we figured that out We can just pick another day Yeah how about this How about this Why don't we do it nice and early in November Oh yeah So that way you don't have to worry about it clashing with anything And we should also do like a Saturday like a Saturday night.

22:15So if we said November the 22nd, all right, month till Christmas, we celebrate Christmas nice and early at Hoity J's house. It's a Saturday. We come over in the Arvo, stay till late. How does that sound? Well, that's the good thing about the weekend too. We can have all day there.

22:27Keyzie:You know what I mean? At the Jizz's house. I don't like to celebrate Christmas too early. Why is that? That's a weird thing to not like. It really bugs me when that happens. You know when Christmas celebrations start really early and you go to the mall and they're already banging out the tunes and all the decorations. But you're happy with it to be too late, i.e. January 15th. No, I just think beyond the stress of Christmas would be better. We have Christmas drinks. Look, let's make it February 15th, 2026. Lock it in, fellas. No, it's too far away. What do you mean? It's also not Christmas related, yeah.

23:03Keyzie:This is the thing where... The day after Valentine's Day. I'll do it and you'll forget about it and go, oh, bugger, that's right, it'll be there in the blink of an eye. Okay, how about this then? November 29th, right on the cusp of December. All day are hoity Jays. We come around for brunch. We go from there. I'll be at the batch. Do you know that far in advance? Yes. You never know in advance. We locking it in? Okay, what about this? December the 6th. It's a Saturday. December 6th. How about that? Okay, lock it in. I'm actually in Christchurch that weekend. Let's just go February 2026, the 15th.

23:42Keyzie:Lock it in. Done and dust it. I'm going to put that in my calendar. That is so well. I'm going to put a month reminder in there. We'll have a good time, fellas. Oh. Oh, June. Guns. Roses. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Arctic Monkeys there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. the time exactly 25 minutes past five. Hey, fellas, I've got one of my best mates coming round to my place tonight for some dinner. He's my first visitor in the new apartment that I moved into. It's just me having a bachelor week at the moment. My partner's away. I'm really excited to have a mate round, though.

24:21But the issue that I've run into is when I made the plans with him, I didn't know that we were doing the breakfast show tomorrow and Friday. Yeah, we're doing that, by the way. Yes, 100%. And so now I need like an early night. and I'm not really too familiar with kind of like closing a night off early or being the one as the host to kind of –

24:41Keyzie:Because you just go all night, eh? I mean, when your mates come over. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ordinarily I'm talking about pugs on. Yeah, 100%. Like if you're hanging out, let's just hang out until it naturally comes to an end, but I've never done the unnatural close. Right. So are you – okay, so maybe what we can – because I've done this. I've had to do this recently. Jase, do you reckon you could play his mate? Yeah, I suppose so. What's his mate's name? You don't have to give his real name. Oh, okay. Lachlan. Lachlan. What colour hair does he have? He's blonde. Well, that doesn't matter, does it?

25:17Keyzie:No, I'm not playing a blonde. Okay, what colour hair would you like him to have, Jase? My sort of colour? Okay, he's got your colour hair. Brunette. Brunette, yeah. Okay, he's brunette. Salt-and-pepper brunette. Yeah, hot. Yeah, and he's got a red and black chicken shirt on, all right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, cool. Is he quite old, your mate, is he? No, he's my age. Oh. Okay, so you're playing Lachlan. Yes. Weird made-up name you've gone for there. And Pugs, you're at your house, all right? Yeah. You've got to wrap him up. The first thing I'll need to see is you guys just having a bit of chit-chat, and I'll sort of come in and coach you through it.

25:47Yeah. Some things that you can do to get rid of him, all right? Okay. Before we do it, what time is it? Let's say I probably want to be in bed by about 9 or 10 later. So let's say it's like 9.30. Wow, so he's going to be at your house for like an hour and a half. Fair enough, fair enough. We're having a couple of beers. We've had a pizza. You know what I mean? We're just catching up. Oh, yeah. Is that all good? Yeah, man. Might have some music on in the background. You go on, then. Yep, cool. So, okay, now you guys just have some chit-chat here. That's really good, man. I'm glad your marriage is going well, my friend.

26:19Lachlan? Have you not been listening to a word I says, Pugs?

26:23Keyzie:You'll gee, man. She's gone. She's left for me. What? Have you not listened to a word I've been saying? Okay, Pugs, Pugs, Pugs. Sorry, Pugs, you can't get him steamed, man. He's only been at your house for like an hour and a half and you've got him steamed, man. He's a grown man. He can feed himself beers or not. I'm not putting them in his mouth. Right, okay. Well, look, just for next time. How can I calm him down? Just say, hey, man, you know what? I'd like to sleep on things like this. Something like that. Yeah, nice. Well, listen, man, I completely understand where you're coming from and I'm sorry, but sometimes you just need to take it easy, take a night and just be at peace and then think things through.

27:00You know what I mean? When you're in like a more chill state of mind.

27:03Keyzie:I'll tell you what you can do, Pugs. Seriously, man, this is the best way to do it. Just have some more beersies. Are they in the fridge, are they? Yeah, okay. So, hang on a sec. Hang on. So, Pugs, have you got a shit ton of beers in your fridge? Yeah, I do tend to get a few beers. Okay, you need to clear that stuff out. You know what Lachlan's like? He's out of control. I didn't know he was like this. He hasn't been around in ages. He's my first visitor. Okay, I need to get him out of the house. Okay, so here's what you've got to do. Big yawn, all right? Big yawn halfway through him talking Alright go try that Oh man What is that What is it like 9.30 Oh jeez Yeah it's getting pretty late Yes Probably time for bed eh Pug son Okay Pug Sorry start Why are you hitting on him Are you trying to get him No sorry I meant me Like I need to go to bed He can He needs to go to his bed Because I thought you were trying it on With Lockwood No no no no no What Okay yeah Or say, I think I could hear your Uber outside or something like that.

28:00Order him an Uber. Yeah, do that. Okay. Oh, well, that's all good, man. Yeah, it probably is time for a bit. I've sussed you an Uber home, easy as. Don't worry about it. You can get the next one or whatever.

28:10Keyzie:I was just thinking I'd have a seap over or puggy. I'll have a pug sign there. Just a bit of a seap over, mate. Okay, pug. I like the old days, pug sign, when you and I used to see. Remember that flat? That flat down in the knee? and we went there and just used the same matches, filming past it. Okay, Pugs. It's just weasel over it and stuff. Okay, Lachlan. We need like a better plan. Okay, honestly, the only thing you can do is you're going to have to put them away. What? The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Alison Chains here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening.

28:48Keyzie:Now, we've got a bit of an announcement, a serious one. We shall be doing breakfast tomorrow, the Big Show. because the fellas on breakfast are away. Do they ever actually work? Come on, Jase. You just got back from like a two-day holiday, man. You can talk. Yeah, Jase. Yeah, no, fair point. We are doing breakfast tomorrow. Now, going from a drive show and then a handful of hours later waking up and doing a breakfast show, I know what you're all thinking. That's hard yakka. Yeah, that's backbone stuff. That's radio stuff. That is. It's gnarly. That's above and beyond. You know what I mean? It is massively so.

29:19And what we usually do here on the big show every now and then is we'll send Brekkie a little transmission, just asking them questions about why they've completely rearranged the studio without telling us. Yes, why they cheat at golf. Why they cheat at golf, why we challenged them to a relay race and then we won because Minaya blew us quad out, just things like that. So, Pugs, you actually had the idea of sending ourselves a transmission because it could give us a little pep in our step come tomorrow morning, Jase. Yeah, that's a great idea, fellas. Fellas, a time capsule, if you will, because obviously we've got our attitudes and thoughts and feelings now here during drive, but who knows how those are going to change over the next few hours before we come in tomorrow for breakfast.

29:54Yeah. You know what I'm saying?

29:55Keyzie:A lot of lovemaking to be had between then and now. Who? Between now and then, sorry. Who? Me? Why have you been talking to my wife? Really? What did she say? My partner's away. My mate's coming around. Because it's not you, right? Obviously it's me, Keezy. Pugs. Huh? Fire off the transmission, brother. Let's do this thing. De-doosh, de-doosh. Big nips, Keezy. Backfire. My wife. Pug fun. Massive honker. Midnight Steamer. Backbones! Incoming transmission from The Big Show. Oh, yeah, g'day, you massive backbones. It's old Hoity J, Keezy and Pugsan here from The Big Show. How you going, you mad bastards?

30:33Keyzie:Hey, guys. Yeah. Wow. I mean, the time here at the moment is 5.42. It's the 24th of September. So we're sending a little time capsule to you to maybe inspire you on the morning show. Can I just say, man, I know the show's just begun, but holy cow, Well, breakfast is sounding better than it's ever sounded. You guys are a natural fit. I love the chemistry between you all, and I hope you guys are doing this for a long time to come. And can I just reiterate to all of you guys, because, you know, it's tough hours, you know, the breakfast show, but what a unique opportunity this is for you guys to really, you know, expand your radio career.

31:10It could be the start of something new, fellas. And also, oh, we're running out of time. I'm going to keep it going, though. Huh? You ruined that. Now we're going to have to send that, and the breakfast guys are going to hate us because how did I ruin it?

31:21Keyzie:You sound really unprofessional, man. Which part? I don't want to get offside with the breakfast guys. Oh, it's back. You fixed it? Yeah, yeah. What were you saying? Oh, you don't even care, man. What I was going to say is, jeez, you guys look handsome this morning. You know, you might be tired with the early start, but it's okay. You can rest those eyes in a few hours, head on home, have a little nap. Oh, you see, that's just not believable, actually, Pugs. You look atrocious in the morning. I've seen you early morning. You're a shocker. When have you seen him early morning? Well, you know when we're overseas and that?

31:50Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I don't know if you know this about Pugs, but he has to put his morning face on. Oh, really? And that takes ages, and he just rushes in here for breakfast. So I'm picking, actually, he looks bloody terrible in the morning. Do you have a morning face, or is that just your standard all-day face? No, it's just my standard sort of craggy, handsome, sort of masculine face. Yeah, right, okay. Anyway, good luck with the show. We'll be listening. Yeah, that's great. I think that should sort of fire us up, fellas. What do you think? I think so. Oh, yeah. Well, it's going to fire me up, Jase.

32:18Can I say that? Yeah, sure. I hope they don't get frustrated by that little middle patch there, but... I'm going to cut that out. Probably. Editorial decisions. Oh, Jimmy.

32:31The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

32:37Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving a hump day. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Ree Burger. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries, and gourmet eats that'll change the game. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. Good stuff. You know, it's funny, fellas. It feels like already ages ago that I had my massive holiday. You're right. You know what I mean? You sort of get back into the sort of flow of things, and you go, oh, my God. I mean, it was only a couple of days ago that I was, you know, swanning around doing stuff. And it feels like it was years ago.

33:09And the weird thing about that, too, because I recently went to Europe for three weeks. as it flies by because it's so action-packed. Exactly, yeah.

33:17Keyzie:I simply must go there, by the way. Because yours was four days, eh? Well, it was two days in the weekend, yeah, yeah. Yeah, right. And it just went, but it was like a couple of days and then boom, it was all over. I couldn't believe it. That's crazy, man, because it felt like you were gone forever. Yeah, I bet it did. Yeah. I listened to the show. Shit, you guys struggled. Yeah, right. Right now, I'd love to hear you admit, do you ever listen to the show and you're not working on it? No. No, neither. Never. That's a true story. Absolutely not. I do sometimes. No, I know, Pugs, but you love it.

33:49Yeah. You know, you love it. And also just to make sure everything's in order, you know what I mean, with the podcast. I used to be like that. I used to be like that. I used to very much be like, oh, you know, just check things are being done. But then I was just like, you know what? It's all G. Somebody will let me know if something's not right. And there's nothing I can do anyway.

34:04Keyzie:Our work mummy will do that, you know, because you know if anything goes wrong, then Pugs Sam will get in touch and say, wait, wait, wait, wait. Is Pugs your work mummy? Oh, no, sorry, my work wife. Work wife, yeah. Weird that you're getting those two confused. Can I say that? That is weird. That's odd. Is there such a thing as a work mummy? Yeah, I think so. Work mum? I wouldn't call her mummy. I don't know why you're saying mummy. And I wouldn't confuse her with my work wife either. No. I imagine they'd do similar roles, though. I'm learning a little bit. I don't know, yeah. I'm learning a little bit right now.

34:38I'm learning a lot about Jase. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that's cool, Jase. What are we talking about? Oh, my holiday. Oh, yeah, it was so sick, man. Hopefully I'll get a holiday soon, fellas. No, you're all good, man. Yeah, you just get on with it with your pose.

34:52Keyzie:Here's Queen to the Stone Age. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Temple of the Dog there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening. It was quite a historic day, fellas, in the Hoody J household. Right. My wife and I have inherited our daughter's stereo. Right. Sick. Usually it's the other way around. Record player. Oh, yeah, right. Yeah, so we're pretty excited about that. And I'll tell you what, it's been a whore of a job trying to set it all up again because she sort of taped everything up and there were bits that we had to find and then we had to find a needle for it and stuff.

35:35Keyzie:Did it come with speakers in there all attached? That was the other thing we had to get, a Bluetooth speaker. Oh, so it's a Bluetooth vinyl player? Yes. Oh, right. But I'm sure that you could probably hook actual speakers up to it. Yeah, you can. The one that you guys kindly gifted me about a year or last year is Bluetooth capable as well, but you can also wire it. Oh, yeah, right. How's that going, by the way? Does it sound good? It's freaking unreal. Awesome. Got it set up in the new place. Love it. But anyway, it's my story. No, that's great. They're great, aren't they? No, Jase. It's all about you, man.

36:08Keyzie:Let's go. Now, listen. So we had to replace the needle. I'll tell you what. The only place we could find was Real Groovy, which is the only place in town. You know, so you had to go into town. Did you Google it? We had to Google which one it was. Right. Which needle? Which needle. But anyway, so there my wife and I were this morning going, okay, we've got to replace the needle because the needle on the current, you know, the current needle was broken. Right. And it was like we were trying to get the needle off and we were effing and jeffing. You were struggling to get it off? Yeah, we couldn't get the needle off, Keezy.

36:39Keyzie:And it's such a delicate little thing. You don't want to be yanking and pulling at it. Were you patient in getting it off or were you getting a little bit impatient? Yeah, look, I was getting a really good looking at. Okay. And we were sort of, you know, lifting it up and trying to move it and pull it down. Yeah, right. And then I had a thought. You know what all the young folks say. They say, oh, you can do anything on YouTube now. You know what I mean? Yeah. If you need to get something fixed or you need to figure out something on your appliance, just go on YouTube, man. They've got everything.

37:09That's right. So you opened YouTube on your phone? Yes. What did you type in?

37:13Keyzie:I typed in, how to remove and change your needle on the Sony 12X5041-22. Right. Did that bring anything up? Yeah, man. It brought up our stereo. That's probably too specific. Yeah, you probably didn't need to. Oh, right. You can shorten that down. Well, this is the thing I discovered is, of course, there's different needles and stuff for different players. Right. So you do need to be quite specific thus to how to remove and change your needle on the Sony 12X5041-272 because I didn't want, you know, for example, the Sony 125044-278. Has that got a different needle? That's got a different needle to it.

37:51You know what I'm saying?

37:53Keyzie:And then we looked at it and we watched it. What, the video? The video of them doing it, and bugger me, it worked. We clipped the old one out, and out it came easy as, man. Wow. And then we got a new one. It took ages to get the plastic covering off it. Had to sort of YouTube that too, how to get the plastic. What did you type in for that one? No, how to get the plastic covering off the needle. Yeah, so what did you type in for that? How to remove the plastic covering for your Sony 12X5041-22272 needle. Did that bring anything up? Yeah, man. It just showed you how to... Because they're tricky little bastards.

38:33Keyzie:What did you use? My fingers. Just used your fingers? Yeah, yeah. And we took that off and then clipped it in there. Beautiful. Far out. Have you played any records on it yet? Any vinyl? I didn't get around to that. It took us that long to get it going and then I had to come to work. Right, but do you have any vinyl at home? No. Right, okay. So you're going to do what Mogi did and steal vinyl from here? You reckon that's okay? You could probably YouTube it. I was going to say, do you know how to put a vinyl onto the record player? Wouldn't have a clue, Keezy. So what would you type in to do that then?

39:03Keyzie:How to put a record on or a record slash vinyl on a Sony 12X5041 slash 272 stereo system. What I'm really freaking out about is activating the Bluetooth. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. She had there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening. Now listen up, this is the final week of our Big Deck Energy competition where you can win two and a half grand's worth of stuff to shove on your old deck there, fellas. Certainly is, Jase. Tradetested.co.nz. They are keen to make your deck great again. We've already given away seven and a half grand's worth of stuff.

39:49This Friday on the drive show here on Radio Hodaki, we'll be calling someone and giving away the last lot of prizes. If you're keen, head to hodaki.co.nz, get yourself in the draw. A little tip that we give you is to go to tradetested.co.nz and put together a shopping cart up to about two and a half grand's worth of stuff. Now, the people that have won in the past have been really clinical at this. Really vigilant. Yeah, like a dollar out. A dollar out, something like that, which is great. I love the energy there. I've got a few entries here, fellas. For example, John from Fielding. Yes. He wants a Makita circular saw.

40:22He wants a drill driver. He wants a middle tool chest drawer 27-inch series red. Are you familiar with that one? Like a tool chest. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bloody great.

40:33Keyzie:Every household should have one. He's actually also ordered a fetch dog kennel. A fetch dog kennel. Okay. So he must have a dog. Well, presumably. We don't ask that in the entry form. That's his business. Yeah, we're right. I mean, he's getting a dog, and I just thought. And he's buying a charger as well, so he's obviously keen to do some DIY, set up a little tool cabinet area, and then give his dog a house. That's what I read into that. Right, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That makes sense. What about this one here? Carlos from Waipapa. He's got a halogen instant heater, 2 ,000 watts on that sucker. Wow, that's a bit of heat.

41:09He's then got a chest freezer, 488 litres on that sucker. That's huge. A chest freezer, how good. He wants to be really hot, but he wants other stuff to be really cold. Stuff to be really cold, yeah. He's then got a super flex 14-foot trampoline. Wow. No wonder he's getting all hot. He's bouncing on the trampoline all day. Yeah, man. He's then got a wet and dry vacuum and a solar garden backlight. So he's keen for his kids to have a bit of fun on the tramp, maybe chill some stuff, be warm, and then have a little bit of light in the back garden. And have a bit of a tidy up. And that's Carlos from Y Papa.

41:40So he is officially in the draw because he went to hodaki.co.nz. That's great, man.

41:44Keyzie:Do get involved in that because that's bloody good stuff. I was gutted when I was away last Friday and missed giving it out. Yeah. Because people love getting two and a half grand worth of stuff. In my experience, they do, Jase. Yes. And to be honest, I'm jealous. I don't have a deck. You've got a deck, Jase. Pugs, your new place has a - I've got a little balcony. A balcony. Yeah. I really want a deck. What's it like having a deck? because I don't have one. Why are you going silent? Well, it's just the way you said deck. You really want a deck. I do really want a deck. They're kind of overrated.

42:19Keyzie:I mean, I just ignored mine and it's falling apart now. Just get a balcony, man. A little balcony's just as good. All sorts of activities. Are you running a little balcony, Pugs? Just a little one, yeah. A little button mushroom balcony? Oh, hang on. Oh, red. Hot! The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Iggy Pop there on the radio. Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday evening. Let's give out some advice. Meet Paddy Nips 69. At gmail.com. Get in touch with the feelers. It's a real email address. Meet Paddy Nips 69 at gmail.com. You guys voted for that email address. It now exists and you can ask us advice at any time on 100 % anonymous.

43:03And if we read it out, you get a$50 Reburger voucher.

43:07Keyzie:Good stuff. What have you got for us, Pug-san? Well, I'd just like to start by saying, obviously, we got an email from Pornhub the other day. Yes, someone signed us up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've just had a couple of more sign-ups. Do you want me to run through what we've been signed up to? They're not porn-related. I don't want to encourage it, but sure. You don't want to encourage it. Okay, what have we been signed up for? We've been signed up to Flavor Radio. That's quite funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because Flavor, the radio station, is next door to Hodaki here. Yeah. We're quite good friends. Literally right over there.

43:32That's very funny. Another one here, Newstalk ZB. What? That'll be Matt Heath probably. Yeah, true. And then my favourite one, the best one so far, is Eating Well. We're signed up to Eating Well. MeatPanningUp69 has been signed up to Eating Well.

43:46Keyzie:Is this what's going to happen now? People are just going to now sign us up to everything? Well, I'm just going to unsubscribe to them, obviously. We'll have to block them. Well, don't do the Pornhub. Don't unsubscribe to the Pornhub? No, just leave that. Why is that? Well, there's no reason. Well, Jase, you've got your own email, mate. You've been talking about how busy you are today, Park San, and the last thing you need to be doing is unsubscribing us to Pornhub. But he should still unsubscribe those other ones. Oh, yeah, the other two, definitely. Okay, yeah, okay. Yeah, sweet as. We do have a question, though, sort of more along the lines of this person's outline as one of the agony aunt-style sections.

44:24Anonymous. I have a boarder in my house, not a flatmate, a boarder, who is a vegetarian. She likes to come home and tell me stories about being rude at restaurants. For example, last week she said she went out to a Thai restaurant and caused a stink when the waitress brought her a meal which was 99 % veg but had a bit of fish sauce in the dipping sauce for the spring rolls. This boarder, who's 46 and is like a child, doesn't realise how obnoxious her vegetarianism is. How can we change her? How can we make her be less annoying when she eats at restaurants? Should I say something to her and let her know she's being a dick?

44:55Keyzie:Yeah, it's interesting. One of the things, and I may be generalising here, fellas. Yeah. But I think your vegetarian. All of them. Your vegans. All of them as well, yeah. Yes, tend to be very anal. Right. You know, and they're always banging on about, you know. It's like when Pugsan and we have tofu chat. It's like, oh, God, here we go. And Pugsan bangs on about how delicious the tofu was and how beautifully crumbed it was. and it's like, oh, God. They seem to get very precious about their food. You and I just shove anything down our gobs. Oh, mate. You know what I mean? We don't care if there's some nuts or veggies or meat in there.

45:36The thing I love about you is you'll put anything in your mouth. Totally, man. But the issue with this woman, though, is that she's 46, I think. Yeah, 46. At a border. At a border. So you're almost her age, Jase. Wow, five years' time, sure. Okay. Okay, and what are the chances of you, if you've been this annoying about your food your entire life up to this point, what are the chances of you changing? Can you change your ways at this point in your life?

46:04Keyzie:Oh, look, I think if I was 46 and I was boarding. And a vegetarian. And a vegetarian, I'd be as painful as possible. Right, so that's where she gets her little kicks. Yeah, totally. By being annoying to everyone. Because I'd be so enraged with my scenario that I'd try and make everyone miserable. Right, okay. By talking about my, with my vegetable chat. Also, fish oil in a sauce dip. Was she having Vietnamese or what did you say? She doesn't have to dip it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was 99 % vegetarian in the meal, but it had a bit of fish sauce in the dipping sauce for the spring rolls. Oh, come on.

46:36Keyzie:This is what I'm talking about. Anal. Oh, she's being anal. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, 100%. Honestly, my advice is to any people that are like this, get them out of your life. She's your border. Get rid of her. I was going to say take her for some Reburger with your new voucher, but I kind of don't want that admin at our mate's Reburger. You know what I mean? Well, to be fair. They do have great visual options. They have everything you probably, but she'll find a way to want her to be a dick. She'll criticise her. You know what I mean? They don't deserve that. No. So take her to Reburger, eat it in front of her, and then get rid of her.

47:07Yeah, boot her out. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

47:22Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad, mad bastards. I'm going to clear that bubble out, man. That's the big show done and dusted for your Wednesday evening. What a show it's been, fellas. It's been amazing. And just a bit of a public service announcement. The big show, we'll be doing breakfast tomorrow and Friday. Yeah. Bit of a rejig there. Yeah, totally. So the exciting thing is knowing that right now we've got less than 12 hours till we need to be back here in the studio. Yeah, I don't know if that's actually kosher. You know what I mean? In terms of workplace environments. Yeah, like health and safety and stuff, eh?

47:54Keyzie:Health and safety. I think you've got to have a really big break between shifts. That's a real hodaki attitude, man. Yeah, totally. Yeah, right, because how long's our show? Three hours? Yes. Yeah, so you do a three-hour show. And then we need at least 20 hours off before the next one. Actually, I reckon we go on strike. Yeah, I don't think we do it tomorrow, man. What do you say? Let's just flag it. I'm going to do it. It's a unique opportunity for me. Because Pugs, he's keen to get on air, right? So he's going to be definitely showing up. Keezy, I am on air right now. He is on air. And so he's definitely going to be there.

48:26So I can't just let Pugs go and do it. I'm going to show up too because I don't want him snaking my job.

48:31Keyzie:Oh, sweet. Well, you guys do it and I'll just have a sleep in. Are you sure, Jase? Yeah, totally, man. Once they hear how Pugs and I sound together without you, man, I don't know if that's a good idea for you. That chemistry is raw, a lightning in a bottle. Yeah, man, I wouldn't risk it if I was you as your agent. You're my agent now, are you? Yeah, good. Hey, what was the outro clip today, Pugs? We were sort of getting into the ins and outs of our moods around promo meetings here in the office with our staff. Can I just remind everyone, we're the talent. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You go about tapping away on your little computers there and don't disturb me, it annoys me.

49:07But, hey, if you've enjoyed listening to this outro... Pugs isn't a horror of a meme. I am not a horror of a meme. No, you're a good person. That was a real glimpse into the real Hoity J there, wasn't it? It was, 100%. That's what's great about the podcast outro is it's a peek behind the curtain. You really get to know us. Totally. It's our true, honest selves.

49:25Keyzie:On an intimate level. I don't know about that. Hey, now listen. Go and check out the Instagram account. Go and check out the podcast. It's worth it. It's worth it. New video out now, by the way. Yeah, and I'm not happy about that either. Then we just put it out there. What? The video? Yes. I mean, it's not like we're betraying you. you're betraying yourself man you have to go watch it to understand what the hell they're talking about right now we'll be back tomorrow morning 6am on the Hauraki Breakfast Show and if you're a podcast listener our podcast will be out on the usual channels as well bye
