In short

A full Hauraki Big Show segment covering: breaking news (a 24-hour bike ride at McDonald’s and an accidental driveway land purchase), music/TV recommendations, event updates for the Black Clash, a “Milk Chat” debate about flavored milk (especially banana vs chocolate), and a “holiday misadventures” story plus asthma/eczema banter.

Guests (on-air/featured)

Nathan McCullum (New Zealand cricket legend; promoted captain of Team Cricket for the Hot Springs T20 Black Clash). No other external guests appear in the transcript; most other voices are hosts Keezy and Pugs (James Pugsley).

Key claims

  • Nathan McCullum says Team Cricket’s strategy is to distract rugby players off their game (e.g., “give Joey Wheeler a microphone,” “cold beer,” “property deal”).
  • Milk Chat: banana-flavoured milk is argued as worst; chocolate is argued as best.
  • Pugs claims he has asthma/eczema and gets “bullied” for it; Keezy disputes asthma details (SimbaCort vs Ventolin/Flexitide).

Notable examples

  • Christchurch man Matt Fairbrother cycles 500 km around a McDonald’s drive-thru for 24 hours, reportedly pointless.
  • San Francisco couple accidentally buys a driveway strip for ~$40k instead of an apartment (~$1M), after bidding on the wrong address.

0:00It's the Hodaki Breakfast with Keyzie and Pugs. Don't fight it. It's time to go up a size. This is the biggest, biggest, biggest, biggest, this is the biggest, our biggest show. The Hodaki Big Show with Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Big Show!

0:22Mike Minogue:Good morning New Zealand. It is Wednesday the 14th of January 2026. A couple of minutes past 6am and you've got the big show with you on a Wednesday morning. Not the full big show, but you do have Keezy and old Pugson, James Pugsley. How are you this morning?

0:38Jason Hoyte:I'm good, thanks man. I'm grateful to be here. Were you just checking that your banana's still good just then? I saw you pick that up. No, no, don't get sidetracked.

0:46Mike Minogue:I just fidget with stuff. So if I wave a banana around randomly and sort of touch it. It's very distracting. Is it? Yeah, yeah. How are you going this morning, brother? Well, it was good until I found out I can't even touch a banana without throwing old Pugs on it. Hands on the desk where I can see him, please. Big show today, Pugs. We've got Nathan McCullum coming on after 8 o 'clock to discuss the Black Clash. I believe he's been made captain of one of the teams after Dan Vittori has pulled out.

1:12Jason Hoyte:We're inching closer and closer to what is going to be a massive starting weekend. And yes, you're right. Nathan is the captain of Team Cricket.

1:21Mike Minogue:That is happening again this weekend. Ken, we were just discussing off air how even though I think I've done the Black Clash for five years in a row, I'm still massively fizzed up for it. Such an amazing event. Yeah. So can't wait to get down there to Tauranga. Don't forget the first big show of the year is at Mount Bruko, Mount Maunganui, 4pm this very Friday. The whole team back together. Cannot wait. And of course, Minaya and Jerry are back on air this coming Monday as well. Should we go to a tune there, Pugs? Could be King. Bit of life. Yeah, sure. He's into it. Also later on in the show Another chance to win tickets to the Bone Temple That's the 28 years later movie Yeah, yeah, the Bone Temple Cool On live, here's live, on Hauraki What?

2:03The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki

2:07Mike Minogue:The Chili's on the Hauraki Breakfast Show It is 12 minutes past 6 o 'clock this Wednesday morning With Keezy and Pugsan I've got some breaking news

2:19Mike Minogue:This is Breaking News. Certainly is, Prebs. Two pieces of breaking news for you today, Pugs. First one. Two and one. A Christchurch bloke, 21 years of age, did a 24-hour bike ride around Macca's Drive-Thru on Rickerton Road in Christchurch. You been to that, Macca's? Rickerton Road, Christchurch. Used to go there a lot. It was outside the mall there.

2:39Jason Hoyte:Oh, my goodness.

2:41Mike Minogue:That's a 24-hour one. and there probably still is some raucous stuff happening after midnight when I'd stagger past steamed.

2:48Jason Hoyte:Could you imagine being, heading home after a huge night? Yeah. And you're trying to go through the drive-thru. And there's a guy on a bike going around and around. And there's a guy on a bike just going around and around.

2:57Mike Minogue:His name is Matt Fairbrother. He did it constantly for 24 hours, 500 kilometres he completed. He completed each lap in about 25 seconds. Pretty interesting considering there'd be cars and stuff going through the drive-thru at all times. McDonald's did not know about it. he decided to do it two days before like he literally just thought about doing it and then just did it and do you know what the cause was for? Well I was waiting to see if there was a cause

3:21Jason Hoyte:or like a charity function behind it

3:23Mike Minogue:Ah he just wanted to do it It's completely pointless he even admits it in the article quite interesting you know it's not raising funds for mental health or anything like that or breast cancer no I just wanted to do it

3:34Jason Hoyte:Could you imagine just being an employee at Macca's just trying to do your job clean the bloody milkshake machine or something and you're just getting harassed by a dude on a bike. There's just a guy on a bicycle going past. Constantly going, and you're waiting for the next time he comes around. Is he going to come back this time around? Yeah, man. Or is this going to be the end? Crazy to think that that's something you think of

3:51Mike Minogue:and then two days later you do it. I do respect that mindset. Yeah, I think he is a nutter. Here's another piece of news there. Pug San, a San Francisco couple, accidentally bought a strip of land at auction. Now, JJ Hollingsworth and his partner Alimehu Murgia They bid on an apartment on the street The apartment last sold a year ago For 1 million US dollars Okay Approximately Their bid was 39 ,000 US dollars On this apartment Less than 1.20th of the value of the apartment They put a bid on this apartment And they were like, oh, let's just put a bid in For 40 grand On this 1 million dollar apartment and let's just see what happens.

4:37Mike Minogue:Their offer was accepted. Okay, well the place is obviously falling to bits. No. They thought they were bidding on 1924 Kirkham Street. Okay. They were bidding on 1926 Kirkham Street without realising, which is a driveway between apartments. It was selling for a US$1 reserve at auction and they accidentally bid$40 ,000 US dollars and got it straight away.

5:03Jason Hoyte:On a driveway? On a driveway. What happens in that scenario? Can you renege on that immediately? Dunno. Once you figure that out?

5:10Mike Minogue:I don't think so. They put in an official offer. They signed all the paperwork. They now own a strip of land, which is used as a driveway for four different apartments, apparently. Townhouses. And the guy that sold it, he owed all this money to tax and stuff, so they took it off and put it up for auction to pay some of it back. They accidentally put the hugest lowball offer on an apartment I've ever heard of and buy a driveway instead.

5:32Jason Hoyte:A huge lowball is a bit of an oxymoron, isn't it? I would be making that a toll road to make my money back immediately. And just sting the people. A toll driveway. Yeah, 100%.

5:41Mike Minogue:And mad, mad parking services. I feel bad. The stress and anxiety. I think this is old JJ there. Has taken a toll on his health. He's had an eczema flare up in his ear canal and has now got an ear infection. So it just goes from bad to worse. Always get a lawyer to check over things for you, pugs. Or me. I can do it. I'll have a look. When was the last time you had an eczema flare-up? When I was three. Stressful day, was it? It was big, actually. Accidentally bought a driveway and poached yourself. Head like a hole, it's the Horaki Breakfast Show. The Horaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.

6:23Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Horaki.

6:26Mike Minogue:6.26 on the Horaki Breakfast Show. A bit of a new order for you there. Blue Monday, Wednesday morning with Keezy and Pugson. And Pugs, are you a fan of Fat Freddy's Drop, man?

6:36Jason Hoyte:I genuinely, and this could be a hot take, and if you disagree with me, 3483, please, I think they're the best band to come out of New Zealand. Wow, that's a huge call, Pugs. That is a huge call, but that is a genuine belief.

6:48Mike Minogue:Ever?

6:49Jason Hoyte:Yep.

6:50Mike Minogue:So a lot of people will disagree with that. I agree with you. I think, like when you said that just then, I was like, no, surely. I can think of all the other great bands that have come out of New Zealand. However, Fat Freeze Drop is my most listened to artist or band out of any other band in the last 10 years. Exactly.

7:10Jason Hoyte:I think they're the best musical product to come out of New Zealand. I think they capture New Zealand music culture immaculately. What about Lorde? Lorde's fantastic too.

7:19Mike Minogue:In terms of success, are you talking, or are you just talking about your personal favourite? You know what I mean?

7:24Jason Hoyte:I genuinely think they're the best. I think they're the most consistent. Yeah, they are very consistent.

7:27Mike Minogue:And I think they're musically the strongest all round. And every album that comes out, there is at least two or three songs on there that I go, hell yeah. And then the rest of the songs, I'll be like, oh yeah.

7:39Jason Hoyte:Well, it's all good. It's all good stuff. I haven't heard a Freddie song I didn't like. Sure, there's highlights. Yeah, yeah. Like my favorite is Blackbird.

7:47Mike Minogue:Oh, yes. That's off the album Blackbird, which came out probably 10 years ago, maybe now. Yeah. So if you haven't done a deep dive on Fat Freddie's, go and do it. However, they are performing in May in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch because it is based on a true story, the first album that came out. I believe it's the 25-year anniversary. 20 year? Let me just Google that. But it features these tunes right here.

8:16Jason Hoyte:The fact that that came out 25-odd years ago, even if it's not bang on that, and it still stands so immaculately.

8:23Mike Minogue:Like it's timeless It is timeless I thought it was 25 years ago Because I was like Man I was a young fella When this came out It was 2005 I was 14 I remember buying it And I have thrashed it ever since Still have it in the glove box In my car Also features this song By the way Where do you go Where do you go Said I'd really like to know

8:45Jason Hoyte:And you can bet They'll be putting it all out there Especially with the passing of Moo last year

8:52Mike Minogue:Yes that's right their producer. Now, this concert, as I said, they are playing based on a true story in full. Who knows? Will they throw a few other tunes in there? Because I think it's only 10 songs on that album or eight songs on that album, but they're all really long as well. They are not, in fact, the world's longest songs. That's right. They will drag it out. I'll be up the front there skanking in a bucket hat. If you are keen to head along as well to Fat Freddy's Drop playing based on a true story in full, it is four mates to Freddy's. All you're going to do is text the word FAT to 3483.

9:24Mike Minogue:If you want any more details on the gig, head to hodaki.co.nz to the gigs page and I'll see you there. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki. It is Suede Animal Nitrate on the Hodaki Breakfast Show. It is 6.39 this Wednesday morning with Keezy and Pug-san. Let's chat TV, Pugs. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.

9:52Mike Minogue:Yes, it's funny because it's voiced by Jase and it's with Mike Minogue, but neither of them are here. It doesn't say Keasy. Or Pugs-san. Or Pugs. But we're doing it anyway. This is a segment where we chat about TV. Pugs, you actually asked, hey, can we chat TV because you've been watching a lot of stuff over the holidays?

Read the full transcript

10:07Jason Hoyte:100%. I got home from a massive holiday run around the country, well, around the North Island there, and after I finished my New Year's festival, I locked myself in my house for like three days and just watched TV. Recovered. And movies. and now I've kind of got a bug for watching TV and movies which is not a healthy way to start the new year.

10:26Mike Minogue:The other thing you said too is that you're in it yesterday or the day before was that you've got a bit of a... You're really into your pies at the moment. Really into my pies. So at the moment you're into pies and watching TV.

10:35Jason Hoyte:And also my phone evidently after that time because you know when you're sitting there watching TV for so long you go on your phone. Do you? Well, yeah. Do you multi-screen while you're watching? Often. Yes. Particularly if I'm hungover. Interesting. Yeah. You're going to pick one thing? What are you going to do here? I'm going to pick, I've done a Keezy, and I've been deep in the YouTube TV hole. Okay. And I have been running the trashy TV of the early 2000s. So my partner and I spent all of Sunday watching In Disorder, Tabitha's Salon Takeover. Is that like an MTV-style show from back in the day?

11:14Jason Hoyte:That is a direct rip of Kitchen Nightmares, but with a lady in salons. Right, okay, yeah, okay. So Tabitha Salon Takeover. Now we broke that up after like three or four episodes, broke that up with some MTV Room Raiders. Did you ever watch that? I watched a lot of Room Raiders. A lot of it was completely staged. I wouldn't be surprised. And they rented the mansions and stuff. Oh, really? Yeah, 100%. A lot of it was very fascinating to me, just seeing the differences in the personalities that they get. So essentially, if you don't know MTV Room Raiders, three suitors get kidnapped and put in a van and then a prospective date, like an attractive woman, then sifts through all their rooms without meeting them to judge them.

11:56Jason Hoyte:I'm thinking of MTV Cribs. Cribs is a banger. Completely different show. Yeah, I've never watched this. Room Raiders is like a dating show. Right, okay. So that was a banger. Then ran a couple of quick exhibit Pimp My Ride compilations. Oh my goodness. And then finished with a healthy dose of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. All just garbage.

12:17Mike Minogue:Nah. All mean. No, totally. But all just, you watch it and you haven't really taken anything from it. It's just TV. It's just TV. It's just something on that's entertaining.

12:27Jason Hoyte:100%. And it's so sensationalised and the arguments are so bombastic. And Gordon Ramsay's like, oh, F me, F me. It's worse than I thought.

12:38Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fully handled. So good. The early 2000s, like when the American Chopper came out, and they really figured out the recipe. Great reminder. Yeah, you should watch that on YouTube. American Chopper, basically they figured out the recipe was, oh, here's this really interesting company doing an interesting thing, like building custom motorbikes. Yeah. But no one cares about that. Let's just make them fight and argue the whole time, because that's what people want. And throw chairs. Yeah, that was right in the thick of that era of television. How many buzzies out of five do you give them?

13:06Jason Hoyte:I give them all five for what they gave me.

13:10Mike Minogue:Cool. And so this segment is ruined.

13:12Jason Hoyte:Five busies out of five after years of barely getting a four or a three. I mean, I'm not Mike Minogue. I don't hate everything that I watch. I had a great time watching it, and I felt good. What do you want me to say? I don't know. Maybe not. Three.

13:27Mike Minogue:Thank you.

13:27Jason Hoyte:I was thinking two.

13:29Mike Minogue:Bloody good stuff, Pug Sun. Do you want to know what I watch? Yes, please. Hardcore pornography. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Fast Times in Tahoe. LMNOP on your Wednesday morning. It is the Hauraki Breakfast Show with Keezy and Pugs. Almost 7 o 'clock. And coming up after 7, Pugs, we've got another double pass to give away to the Bone Temple. The Bone Temple. Which is a movie. Oh, the 28 Years Later one. That's right, 28 Years Later, part 2, the Bone Temple. Is this different from the free pass you offered me to your bone temple? Did I offer you a free pass? No, you have to pay for that, mate.

14:08Mike Minogue:Oh, no, I gave you a free pass to give to your partner. No, it's too early. Okay, Jase. Okay, Jase, and I wait. It's way too early, and I take that back. She's probably just woken up, too. She'll be having a listen. Sweet. Hi, Millie. How are you? Also coming up after seven is, Pugs, you took your old Suzuki Vitara badge as a Mazda for a WAF yesterday.

14:30Jason Hoyte:Yes, and I asked the people on 3483 whether or not mechanics gave a shit about if your car's clean or not. Results on how the WAF went. Okay. And if it didn't go well, what was required to get the WAF? Oh, God. We'll cover that after 17.

14:46Mike Minogue:Plus tickets to the Bone Temple.

14:51The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

15:01Mike Minogue:Good morning, New Zealand. It is five minutes past 7am, Wednesday the 14th of January 2026, and you've got Keezy and Pugs covering the Hauraki Breakfast Show. Manaya and Jerry back this coming Monday, Pugs. And then Friday, we won't be on Brekkie. I believe Tony Lyle will be filling in because you and myself will be at Bruko, Mount Maunganui, 4pm, with Jason Hoyt and Mike Minogue for the official return of the big show.

15:28Jason Hoyte:Just on that, we're pumping up the amount of speakers. After last time, I think I mentioned it the other day, how we had to add one more. I've added another two. So we're running like a full.

15:38Mike Minogue:Right, so you're talking about the PA system speakers at the event. We usually have two?

15:43Jason Hoyte:Yeah, usually we have two, maybe three at most. This time we've got four. Wow. Because last time I had to add another one, and it was a massive kerfuffle because there's all these massively responsibly steamed backbones, and I'm trying to shuffle around the world's biggest PA system speakers so that they can hear Hoorijay and you and Nogi. Well, it's worth it. Oh, 100%.

16:05Mike Minogue:So you're anticipating a big one then at Bruko, Mount Maunganui?

16:08Jason Hoyte:Well, I bloody hope so. I mean, every time that we've done a Black Clash pre-show, it's been enormous.

16:14Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, it has. So if you are heading along to the Black Clash in Mount Maunganui this Saturday, make sure you do stop by Bruko, Mount Maunganui. It's on the main township strip there of downtown Mount Maunganui. Come in 4pm. Come in a bit earlier than that if you want to get yourself a good spot. Because it will pack out and tables become mixed with all various different groups. Yeah, last time, actually, now that I remember it, and for some reason it's a wee bit hazy, it was very, very, very packed and very raucous. Yeah, it was awesome.

16:41Jason Hoyte:It was packed out to the front. The front section outside. By the road? Yes. You're joking. No. Hey, just quickly, Pugs has got a fun fact. Oh, yeah, I literally just lent this on, I saw it on Instagram and so I looked into it more. You work here and you're dedicated to haoraki, but you're familiar with freelance work? Yes, I am actually technically a freelancer. I'm a contractor. Are you familiar with where that word came from? Freelance? No. So freelance literally came from free lances back in the day. Medieval mercenaries who were for hire. Oh, really? Yes. So it entered English in the early 1800s, but before that they had a whole bunch of Latin names for it.

17:25Jason Hoyte:But it pretty much just meant an unaffiliated politician or someone, a soldier who worked independently. Right, a merc. So, yeah, a freelancer.

17:33Mike Minogue:And a lance being a weapon. The massive long things. Awesome. Oh, that's very interesting, Pugsan. You know what else is interesting? This song from Jet, is it? Yeah, tune. Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Stone Temple Pilots on the Hauraki Breakfast Show, 17 minutes past 7 this Wednesday morning with Keezy in Pugsan.

17:56Jason Hoyte:Now, Keezy, I asked everybody yesterday whether or not mechanics cared if your car was clean when you took it in for a WAF because I was going in for a WAF directly after the show yesterday. So I dropped my car off there and then got the call at about maybe 2, 3 o 'clock as to the results of that WAF.

18:15Mike Minogue:Okay, how'd we go? We failed the WAF. Okay, you failed the WAF. And just for context, you've got a 1997 Suzuki Vitara. Yes. Badged as a Mazda, which is the weirdest shit I've ever seen in my life.

18:29Jason Hoyte:It's done 200 ,000 plus Ks. Yes. And someone on 3483 said they saw it yesterday at the supermarket and said it looked clean AF. It did. It was very clean, so I don't know what you're worried about. Got it cleaned up, but, you know, I'm conscious of it. Anyway, failed the WAF. Do you want to know what I failed it on?

18:45Mike Minogue:I do want to know. And if anyone listening is mechanically minded, feel free to have your input on 3483. That's the text number.

18:51Jason Hoyte:And like I've been to this guy a bunch before. Seems like a good bloke. Okay. Seems like a professional operation they're running there because, you know, he does pull me up on things. He doesn't just let me fly through. Right. Okay. But it all seems reasonable for an old car anyway. So we're in a fitness vehicle failed as per the checklist. First up, and just to be clear, I got this all repaired yesterday. Right. Paid for it. Got the waft. Okay. Just got it done. First up, the front chassis rail corrosion. Right, so you've got rust under there. A little bit of rust in there.

19:24Mike Minogue:So that will entail him getting under there and wire brushing it off. Getting it off, yeah. And then painting over it to stop it. Okay. Yeah. Front radiator support corrosion. Wow. Has your car been in salt water or something? Have you ever driven it in salt water? No. Okay. If you ever do, make sure you hose it down with fresh WK carry-on. I have not. Yeah. No.

19:44Jason Hoyte:I mean, like I've taken it to the beach, but I've never driven it on the beach. Damn, I guess it's just old. Sand or something? Yeah, well, it is. Oh, my grandfather probably took it four-wheel driving when he owned it. Yeah, right. Years and years and years ago. We've also got a rear brake imbalance. Right, okay. Yeah, and that means adjusting, so that's fine. 100 % and they adjusted that. They also refilled the tyre oil. Refilled the tyre oil? Were you low? Yeah, yeah, I was low on tyre oil. Okay. Not on all of them. I think just like maybe the back left or something.

20:15Mike Minogue:Well, you've got to watch out for that because they put a markup on stuff like tyre oil. Really? Yeah, they do. So how much did you pay for that? Was it expensive for the tyre oil? Not much.

20:24Jason Hoyte:I think he did like maybe$40 or something. He said he gave me a deal. $40? Yeah. You got taken for a ride there, brother. It's like$15. Okay, carry on. The tyre oil. Yeah, carry on, righto. Okay, well, I'm glad he did this one because I don't think it was necessarily for the WOFF, but he did it for me because I always listen to tunes. He recharged the radio for me. He recharged it? Yeah. The radio? Yeah, just so I can keep playing my tunes and stuff when I'm driving.

20:47Mike Minogue:Right. You do realise that recharging a radio is something that I know how to do and that I could do for you for like$10. Really? Yeah, how much did he charge you for that? Like what's his labour cost there? I don't want to say. Because it takes about an hour. Oh, yeah. He's probably charging like$80 an hour or something. I don't know. Okay, it wasn't that much. It was$75. $75, yeah. I'll do that. I'll recharge your radio. I could do it in 10 minutes and it'll only cost you$10 next time. Just so you're with it next time.

21:13Jason Hoyte:Okay. Well, to be fair, he did kill the dragon in the wheel well, so I'm grateful for that. Well, that's good. I don't know if I could do that.

21:21Mike Minogue:And I got the waft after he did that. Oh, well done. How much did it cost you in the end all up? $450. $450? Yeah, it's not bad. It's really good, Pugs. I'm proud of you, man. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. 729 on the Hauraki Breakfast, a bit of Pearl Jam there with a live. You've got Keezy and Pugs on with you this Wednesday morning. And if you would like a double pass to go to The Bone Temple. The 28 Years Later sequel, yeah. Yeah, the movie, 28 Years Later Part 2, The Bone Temple. Text us right now on 3483 and tell us, who would you like to take to The Bone Temple? We'll be giving out a couple of double passes to that shortly.

22:02Mike Minogue:That is out in cinemas this Thursday, I believe, and it is the fourth instalment of the 28 Days Later post-apocalyptic horror film series. How are you, baby? Pug son Last night I got home From work And my wife was working from home yesterday Which was pretty nice I got home from work last night We left here at 10 We did leave here at 10am But last night is when this came up This chat came up I said to my wife Oh We've only got one banana left Right Which as you'll see I've got a banana here in my hand I do see the banana Yeah Yeah And then she was She was like Oh I was thinking of making a banana smoothie And I was like Oh yeah okay But we'll have to go and get some more bananas Because I like to have one while I'm on brekkie.

22:42Mike Minogue:This is the kind of shit we talk about, bugs, and it's great. And then she's like, oh, okay, cool. And then she's like, oh, why don't you get an up and go? Like the milk drink? Yeah. Because it gives you the goodness you need to get up and go. Okay. Not a plug. No, not a plug. It's just a motto. What is it? A sort of slogan that stuck with me for some reason. And she's like, oh, actually, we've got one in the fridge. I got given one end of last year at a work thing I was doing. And I was like, sweet. Lucky. Yeah. Lucky. Free up and go And it's just been sitting in the fridge I hadn't noticed it Because it was obviously Tucked away in the back there somewhere Fished it out Instantly pissed off Banana flavour Banana flavoured up and go

23:21Jason Hoyte:So you were pissed off Because your wife needed a banana For a banana smoothie No that was just context She gave you an alternative That was just context Of an up and go No she gave Because you're on brekkie She agreed And you got a banana flavoured drink

23:33Mike Minogue:And that pissed you off She agreed that we'd go out And get more bananas Because we also needed more Molenberg and we were low on milk. So we went and got all those things, got more bananas, hence why my banana today has a green tinge to it slightly because it's a fresh banana. But what I was getting at is that banana-flavored milk is shit. It is the worst flavor of flavored milks, and I don't know why anyone would actively, and banana yogurt, why would anyone and banana fruit bursts are crap?

24:03Jason Hoyte:I'm going to disagree with you. I used to be a banana flavor hater. Right. And then I grew up.

24:10Mike Minogue:And now you're a banana gobbler. Oh, you grew up. So children don't like banana flavors. Is that what you were saying?

24:16Jason Hoyte:No, I as a kid didn't like it. Yeah. And I was an outlier in my circles. Yeah. And we would discuss it heavily, my hate for banana flavored items.

24:24Mike Minogue:So if I was to, and I've written down the five flavors of choccy milk, just to keep it simple. You know, you got your strawberry, chocolate, banana. I've put vanilla and like lime in there. We can change lime if you want to like caramel or something, you know. But I was thinking we should rank the flavours of flavoured milk and see whether there is a unanimous top flavour and a unanimous bottom flavour. We will do that next. In the meantime, please text us 3483. Do you agree that banana flavoured milk is the absolute worst thing ever created? Or do you disagree? 3483, let us know. We've got some vouchers to give away.

24:58The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

25:02Mike Minogue:Ben Harper on the Hauraki Breakfast Show. 16 minutes to 8 this Wednesday morning with Pugs and Keezy and it's time for Milk Chat.

25:15Mike Minogue:You've just joined us. My wife was like, oh, there's a up and go in the fridge there if you want to take that to work tomorrow to have while you're doing brekkie and I was excited. Opened the fridge, pulled it out, it was banana flavoured. Yuck.

25:27Jason Hoyte:Bits it at the wall, you were saying. Threw it at the wall. Can I just say this is maybe the most appropriate use of this music. Do you reckon this is Banana Milk Chat? This is Banana. This song here.

25:38Mike Minogue:This one. You're right, Pugs. And it's bloody exciting. It's exciting stuff. And the interesting thing is on 3483, it is a sweet mixture of people giving their very, very loud opinions about which flavoured milk is the best. And the other half of the text are saying this content is terrible. We will plough on. What we're going to do here, Pugs, is I've got the five, I've just boiled it down to the five main flavors of flavored milk. What did I say there? I said strawberry, chocolate, banana, vanilla, and lime. Yeah. I used to drink a lot of lime milk growing up. I don't know why. I can tell. What the hell is that supposed to mean?

26:18Mike Minogue:All right, so the way we'll do this, Pugs, we've ranked them on our phones here. We have. And we'll start with five all the way up to one. So worst to best. All right, ready? Yes, sir. Starting with number five, the worst flavor of flavored milk. Is banana. Vanilla. Vanilla.

26:33Jason Hoyte:Vanilla. Wow, okay. Why is that? Because vanilla is maybe the dumbest flavor of anything. It's just milk. If it's not ice cream, I'm not interested in your vanilla flavored anything.

26:43Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Interesting.

26:45Jason Hoyte:In fact, I'm barely interested in vanilla ice cream.

26:47Mike Minogue:Vanilla ice cream is good to go with stuff. Like last night, my wife made a sticky brown, sticky chocolate pudding. A sticky brown pudding. She made a what? It was a molten, you know, the centre's sticky and gooey, and then the outside's cooked, and you have vanilla ice cream with a pudding like that. Sounds pretty cooked to me, as you were. All right, number four, second worst flavour of flavoured milk. Three, two, one, strawberry. Lime. Lime. Fair enough. Lime I feel like has an acquired taste. Why are you putting citrus in a milk? I don't know. Gross. What about orange? Like orange chocolate chip ice cream.

27:27Mike Minogue:That's citrus, and it's delicious. Yeah, and it's delicious. but that's not milk. If it was orange milk, I'd also say ooh. Have you had the Jaffa flavoured milk? It's pretty good. I have. But that's not what we're talking about here today. Okay. Third flavour of milk. Three, two, one. Banana. So banana, what? Bananas in your top three. Yeah.

27:47Jason Hoyte:Sicko. Also, we want to hear yours on 3, 4, 3 just while we're doing this.

27:51Mike Minogue:There's a lot of text about flavoured milk here and we will get to them. Okay. Second favourite flavour of milk. Three, two, one. Strawberry. interesting yeah strawberries are very close to the worst for me if it wasn't for banana I would yeah

28:06Jason Hoyte:I just think at least you know that makes sense it's a bit more dessert-y yeah right in my head and my taste buds in your head in your mouth in my head my mouth on my head yeah

28:16Mike Minogue:best flavour of flavoured milk 321 chocolate yeah it's official choccy milk is the best flavour of flavoured milk if you disagree or agree 3483 and we'll get to those texts shortly do keep them coming we've got$50 Reburger vouchers to give away, 3483. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. It's Blime on the Hauraki Breakfast Show, Wednesday morning with Keezy and Pug-san. And just before we wrap things up for the hour, we've got some feedback on our banana milk discussion. If you've just joined us, I think banana milk is the worst flavour of milk ever invented, and they should pull it off the shelves.

28:52Mike Minogue:And someone here agrees banana is the absolute worst. It should be pulled from all store shelves. It's shite. It doesn't even taste like banana. That's true. It doesn't taste like banana pug, son. It tastes like this weird other thing. I agree. Oh, still a decent flavor of milk, though. Still better than vanilla. I love vanilla, man. I don't know why. Lots of texts on 3483. Banana is not the worst. Watermelon is. Have you ever had watermelon-flavored milk? No. That sounds disgusting. That's not even in the chart. Yeah, where did you get that? That is horrific. No, I love banana milk. It's my favorite milk flavor.

29:25Mike Minogue:That's from Clint, who's crazy. What if it's the milk from Hoity J's banana? Pugs? Me? Yeah. What do you think about the milk of Hoity J's banana? Seven. Seven. Seven out of ten? No, no, no.

29:40Jason Hoyte:Like seven on the rankings.

29:41Mike Minogue:Oh, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. High protein almond milk is my favorite and buzzy milk is a close second. Agreed, boys. It's from Sean. Banana and milk doesn't mix well, but this question might split opinion with people. A banana split opinion, perhaps. It's from Sean. Right, Sean, you jump in, mate. We're out of here. You jump in. I'm quitting. Up next, though, Nathan McCullen coming on to chat about the Black Clash.

30:11Oh,

30:19Mike Minogue:it's the big show, all right. Well, half of the big show. You've got Keezy here and Pugs. Hoity J, Mike Minogue, back this Friday, 4pm. Pugs, are you excited for our first show back, mate? I'm very excited, Keezy. Yeah? Yeah. You don't sound it.

30:34Jason Hoyte:It's a live show.

30:35Mike Minogue:Yeah. It's the best way to kick off the year. It is. Why are we coming back on a Friday? That's because the Black Clash is this Saturday. And so Friday, 4pm, Brewco, Mount Maunganui is going to be going off with a live big show celebrating an exciting start to the year with the Black Clash. It's always a great way to come back to the year, I find.

30:53Jason Hoyte:Bit of spa chat for you There's no spa this year It's our super special boat, isn't it?

31:00Mike Minogue:That's right, so no Keezy in his Speedos Sitting on the boundary rope with his nips out It'll be me on a boat instead With your nips out With a jacket on You know the worst part about The worst part about the Black Clash in years gone by Is that you get really cold Especially in Christchurch Especially at night Yeah, because the sun goes down It gets a bit cold and you've been in a hot tub for three hours and it's starting to get cold. Yeah. And there's all sorts of weird stuff floating around in it. But really excited to get down to Tauranga there. Excited for the live show, Brewco, 4pm, Mount Maunganui.

31:34Mike Minogue:We will see you there if you're coming down for the Black Clash. And Manaya and Jerry will be back on deck this coming Monday as well. So it is almost back to regular programming here at Radio Hauraki, which is great. Coming up next after this fantastic tune. Nice. Paranoid garbage. We're going to chat to Nathan McCullum, captain of Team Cricket for the Black Clash. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. It is the darkness on the Hauraki Breakfast Show with Keezy and Pugs. And this coming Saturday, bloody exciting stuff. The Black Clash is returning this year. Last year it was in Christchurch.

32:13Mike Minogue:This year we're getting down to beautiful Mount Maunganui. It is at Bay Oval, Tauranga, Hot Spring Spas, T20 Black Clash in association with Wolfbrook. now in exciting development, Pugs. Yeah. Nathan McCullum, a.k.a. the Komodo Dragon, New Zealand cricket legend. He has been promoted to the position of captain on Team Cricket, and he joins us on the phone right now. Nathan McCullum, how are you this morning? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. How are you guys? All good? Not too bad. Well, thank you, yeah. Not too bad, Nathan McCullum. Just, I mean, huge news, right? You've been promoted to captain of Team Cricket.

32:46Mike Minogue:I mean, this has got to be one of the top days in your cricketing career. it's a proud moment for sure i'm just sitting uh having my coffee reflecting on the on this and uh uh jump straight into some scouting of their team so uh yeah it's it's really important and uh a proud moment for sure well that's the thing um nathan when you do look at team rugby's side you know it's it's kind of hard to do scouting on a lot of these guys because they are footy players I mean, they do have the likes of Mike Hussey on there, who we'll get to shortly. But how much scouting can you do on a person like, I don't know, David Hill or Andy Ellis, you know?

33:25Well, it's really about what we need to do to take them off their game. Like Joey Wheeler, we just need to give him a microphone and he'll focus on that. Yeah, right. We give him a cold beer and he'll go to the side. and Andrew Ellis, we just talk about a property deal and we'll get them going on that way. So if we can take them off their game a little bit rather than think about cricket, that's our focus.

33:52Mike Minogue:Right, okay. That's interesting. So the way you tackle it has nothing to do with cricket. It's just how to distract them. It's dirty tactics. I like it. Whereas, I mean, are you confident, Nathan McCallum, that your team, Team Cricket, won't also be distracted by all of those things? No. and we've got to get the guys in camp together first. That's a good start because there is a, yeah, it's always trying to get them back together. But, no, we're looking forward to it. Being part of the Hot Springs T20 Black Clash in association with Wolf Rook is, once again, I think I'm one of the only ones that's played every single one of them.

34:33Yeah.

34:33Mike Minogue:I mean, you're a natural selection for captain, Nate, because you have played pretty much all of them. And are you like us? Because Hauraki's been involved with them pretty much from the start as well. That it's just, like, are you fizzed up to start the year with this event? Mate, it's one of the things when you get a text message saying, are you available and are you in? I'm like, 100%, lock me in. I've already put that date away in the calendar. No, it's great fun. It's an amazing event. And, look, you know, having it live on TVNZ as well, TVNZ1, and really, like, the amount of viewers watching it, the people at the games, they're actually there to watch the rugby players play more than us.

35:17But it's pretty funny around that. It's a great event, and it's something we all look forward to.

35:25Mike Minogue:We've got former Black Cap and Team Cricket Captain Nathan McCullum on the line with us at the moment. Nate, obviously, as you mentioned, Black Clash is this weekend. Some interesting names have been thrown around. For example, on your side, Jesse Ryder making his return to live broadcast cricket. How do you think he's going to go? Oh, mate, he's golden nuts. Jay Ryder. It'd be good to have a game with him again. He was one of those guys when we were playing together is just if you needed something to happen, you just threw him the ball or sent him out to bat because it was going to go the way.

36:00So he'll be one of my go-tos this weekend, mate, in all honesty. So, yeah, no, it'll be awesome.

36:07Mike Minogue:What about you've got William Wider, who is the wild card for Team Cricket. I mean, William Wider, I have seen – I know for a fact that he's a very good footy player. I haven't seen him roll the old arm over yet or swing the willow around. What do you know about him? Not a lot. I do know he's inspiring the lads to go for a run early doors, so I'm not sure if that's good preparation for our old boys to be going out for a 10K run in the morning. Well, I've heard you guys prep very differently for the black clash. Yeah, it's not really the normal preparation, so I might need to have a chat to him and see if we can slightly defer his 10K run for that day.

36:51Mike Minogue:One final question for you, Nathan McCullum, head of the Black Clash this weekend. You're taking on Mike Hussey, Mr Cricket. In terms of the signings each year that they get for the Black Clash, you've had the likes of Chris Gale, you've had Brian Lara here as well. Where does Mike Hussey rank for you? He was actually one of my favourite players when I was growing up to watch and managed to play against him as well, which was pretty amazing. So, yeah, he's an absolute weapon and one of the best finishers in the world, cricket. So, yeah, it's going to be a challenge against him, but hopefully he hasn't been doing too much playing.

37:34And, yeah, and we can get one past him.

37:38Jason Hoyte:And for you listening there, there are final tickets available, but they are limited, blackclash.co.nz. You can get those now, or if you can't make it for some ridiculous reason, It'll be live and exclusive and free on TVNZ1 and TVNZ+.

37:53Mike Minogue:That's right. Mania Stewart and Jason Hoyt from Hauraki, commentating along with Matty Heath, who used to work here as well. Nathan McCullum, captain of Team Cricket, thank you very much for joining us this morning and good luck for the big game, sir. Awesome. Thanks, mate. Appreciate it. No worries, mate. Let's go to a bit of Soundgarden. You're on the Hauraki Breakfast. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Green Day on the Hauraki Breakfast Show. It is 8.30 on a Wednesday morning with Keezy and Pugs, and it's time for another of Pugs' holiday misadventures.

38:25Mike Minogue:If you've just joined us, we've had two of these already. First misadventure, you dropped a valve cover while you were inflating your tyres on your vehicle. Yeah. At a petrol station on K Road, it fell down a storm drain. You then decided to pull the grate off the storm drain. You cut your hands open. It was really heavy. The valve cap came out. You then went to put the storm drain back, the cover back. The valve cover fell in.

38:49Jason Hoyte:And knocked the valve cover back in. Yeah.

38:51Mike Minogue:And I gave up. And then you cut your hand open and got heaps of like sewage water all in your cuts. Just poos in my cuts. Poos in my cuts. Your second misadventure was yesterday. You went to the gym. You opened the wound on your hands, bled everywhere. Yeah. And then went to the vending machine and spilt fizzed up energy drink all over yourself. And the floor. And the floor, yeah. All right. What's number three, Pugs? All right.

39:10Jason Hoyte:Number three is a little bit different. This was later on in the holiday. where I was actually back in Auckland after a great New Year's festival. And I'm saving the final misadventure for tomorrow, which happened at the New Year's festival. Okay. But this is when I got back. And I was at the beach in Tamake Makoto, Auckland. There's a beach called Minnehaha. It's like a very small little cove. It's lovely. I've never met it. Sort of North Shore ways. Good to know. Yeah, really good. And I went to the beach with my partner and a friend. And we were sitting on the beach. I was doing a bit of tanning there responsibly, a bit of sunblock.

39:41Jason Hoyte:And a young fella walks over to me and he says, Oh, you... Are you Pugs? Pugs on! Are you Pugs from the big show? You mad bastard. And, you know, that was very humbling. I really appreciated that he came over and introduced himself. You love it when people recognize you. I said, nah, man, not today, brother. Nah, I'm just kidding. Had a good yarn with him. He was a lovely guy. What was his name? Huh? Rude.

40:06Jason Hoyte:Anyway, we're chatting for a little bit, and, you know, I'm on my beach towel. I'm sunbathing, so, you know, I've even got a shirt on. Right. Right. And then at the end of the interaction, you know, I'm thinking, oh, maybe I'll go for a swim or something like that. He goes, oh, can we get a photo? Yeah. And I was like, yeah, of course you can, man. Great. I'd be on it. And then I said, let me get my titties out because I was not wearing a shirt and he was going to take a photo. Right. Of me with my titties out. Yeah, okay. And then he goes, I reckon your nips are almost as big as Keezy's.

40:46Jason Hoyte:Wow, how'd that make you feel?

40:48Mike Minogue:Like a misadventure. Were you upset by that? Because you do have large schnips, right? Pardon? You have large schnips. Sorry. Are you seriously? I can't remember. I'm asking the question. You've never seen my schnips. How would you know? Well, I saw them in Fiji, but I can't remember.

41:07Jason Hoyte:Oh, you did see them in Fiji. But I can't remember. So I'm assuming you have large schnips. Well, apparently large enough to almost be as large as yours. Anyway, I just, you know, like, I'm allowed to say that about my nips. Right. Not this guy that I've been chatting to in a very sweet way for 10 minutes. Did you get a photo with him with your shirt off? Yes. So he's got a photo of you with your massive nips. I think my nips are in it, yeah. Sweet. So kind of got me thinking about, you know, the things that you get bullied for, Keezy,

41:37Mike Minogue:and whether or not they may be applied to me. All right, well, what we'll do next is we'll go through all the things I get bullied for in quotation marks on the show. We'll see how many of them do apply to you. Can't wait. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Soul Asylum on the Hauraki Breakfast Show with Keezy and Pugs this Wednesday morning. And don't forget if you'd like to join myself, Pugs and the rest of the Big Show and a few other members of Hauraki as well. Over in Brisbane for Magic Round 2026. It is happening the 15th to the 17th of May.

42:10Mike Minogue:It's three straight days of NRL excellence. you can head to boystrip.co.nz and secure your packages get your mates together as well if you buy one of these packages it includes flights accommodation transfers tickets to all the games and access to various functions and things that the fellas will be at so if you want to guarantee your spot there boystrip.co.nz lock it in and yes we will be giving away I'm sure a few tickets to this later on in the year Pugs, prior to this you mentioned that you got a photo with a big show listener at the beach over the holiday period there. You had your shirt off, and he made the comment that your nips are bigger than mine.

42:47Jason Hoyte:Okay, he didn't say that. Did he not say that? He said that my nips were almost as big as yours. Oh, right, yeah, okay. And that was one of my holiday misadventures, and it kind of got me thinking. There are a few instances in my time here at Hauraki and working with the big show where you've been accosted for things or bullied for things. By Mike and Jase. that tend to maybe align with me a little closer than I would like. Right, okay. And so obviously I sit in Studio B there and I'm bearing witness to all of this and I don't have a stake in it. Yeah. I just sit there passively. But you're thinking to yourself.

43:23Jason Hoyte:Hopefully they don't find out that that maybe aligns with me as well.

43:27Mike Minogue:Right, okay. So the first one and the reason this all came about was big nips. Obviously they give me shit for having burnt meat patty nips, which famously I definitely do have and a lot of people have seen at the Black Clash last year. Do you have big nips? Apparently. According to that guy on the beach.

43:48Jason Hoyte:I mean, like, you've got larger nips. Well, I think it's also what happens when you run a pretty big engine like I've been running. Yeah, right. Is that, you know, you get a bit of areola stretch action, you know what I'm saying? It's all good, man. I love it. It's fine. It's totally fine.

44:01Mike Minogue:They give me a lot of shit for having asthma.

44:04Jason Hoyte:You've got asthma. I have asthma. I've got preventative Simbacort at home that I take some days or before my runs. Simbacort? Yeah, yeah.

44:12Mike Minogue:See, I was a Flexitide guy. I was Ventolin when I was a kid. No, well, Ventolin's the one that you take when you're feeling bad. The reactive. The reactive one when you're feeling bad. Yeah. But I was a Flexitide was my daily, I'd have two puffs of that to get rid of it. And the funny thing about this is you currently have asthma. I do not have asthma.

44:27Jason Hoyte:Text us on 3483 if you're running Simbacort, preventative or reactive. Or Flexitide. Asthma chat, yeah. Let us know. So you still do have asthma. I don't even have it. Yeah, I mean, like, obviously it's only after rigorous physical activity. So every night? Yeah, hang on, babe. Let me go grab the asterial.

44:48Mike Minogue:Oh, what? Now? Okay, let me just grab my inhaler.

44:51Jason Hoyte:It's preventative. Sorry. Yeah, yeah.

44:52Mike Minogue:All right. Eczema.

44:55Jason Hoyte:You've got eczema? Or you've had eczema? Yeah. I was a massively, massive eczema kid. See, I only had it behind my knees once. Yeah. See, I grew up with it like it got pretty chronic. Like prevalent. Wow, okay. I mean, not so much these. Every now and then if I'm irritated or whatever.

45:13Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. So every day between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

45:15Jason Hoyte:100 % is flaring up.

45:18Mike Minogue:Were you a sickly kid? See, no. Okay. I wasn't really. Well, no, yeah, I was. I used to get air infections a lot. Yeah. And I was always in hospital on the nebulizer for various things. A massive nerd. so they give me a lot of shit about playing video games and stuff exactly i think about that every

45:36Jason Hoyte:time because you and i always end up talking about it and you know i think i get sucked into that too when they bring up gaming chat it's always both of us now because we're the ones discussing it yeah but also like all of the stuff as a kid as well the trading card stuff i was i'm a yugioh guy you're a pokemon kid you know yeah yeah pokemon dragon was absolutely um massive schnoz. I mean, what do you think? No, you don't have a massive schnoz, Puckson. Does a deviated septum count? Because I ran one of those until I was about 14. Wow, how did that happen? I don't know. They reckon you were either born with it or you get smacked in the head as a kid.

46:10Jason Hoyte:So it could have been either, just as likely.

46:12Mike Minogue:And then I guess the last one is micropenis. So I guess you do tick a lot of the... Hang on, how many times can I press this button? You do tick a lot of those boxes, Pucks. and I'm sorry that you have to sit in Studio B while they bully me and most of them apply to you. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. It's the Chillies on the Hauraki Breakfast Show. Just gone 9am this Wednesday morning with Keezy and Pug-san. We're about to launch into no ads till smoko. Thanks to our mates at Max Raft, which means just tunes, no ads whatsoever, Pugs, just music.

46:47Mike Minogue:How good is that? Well, not just music, Keezy. Bit of chit-chat. You've got top radio content. That's true. Speaking of, whenever one of us is away on the big show, for some reason we decide we have to come up with a new name for the show.

47:01Jason Hoyte:For example, when Jason and I filled in while you and Mogi were on your Europe trips, we were Spurmboy and the Jizz. Which I hate, yeah. Which I love. And then when Mogi and I filled in for one day or one show just last year, I was called Woke Boy and here was the truth. Which I also hate for some reason. I hate that one. I really hated that one.

47:20Mike Minogue:So I've got a suggestion. I've been thinking about this. A suggestion for our show, you and I. Oh, yeah.

47:26Jason Hoyte:Okay. It is the Hodaki Breakfast Show with Christopher Key and James Pugsley.

47:32Mike Minogue:How do you feel about that? So what I've done there is I've used our actual birth names. If I'm honest, it's a little lowbrow for me. Right. Termature. So you'd rather be called Pugs or, after your trip to Japan like three years ago, Pug-san. Yeah. You'd prefer that over James Pugsley? Or even something more sophisticated like Sperm Boy. See, I struggle with that. So you don't think that we should use our proper full names?

48:01Jason Hoyte:Ever? Well, while we're at it, should we just go full legal names? So Christopher William Key, is that right? And James William Pugsley? Is that your middle name? Should we be called, what if we're called the Big Willies?

48:13Mike Minogue:No, no, no. See, you're going juvenile again with the Pugs. I mean, you and I aren't, we're the smart ones. You know, we're the, I mean, Mike. It's incredibly complimentary of you to say. Yeah, compared to Mike and Jase. Ah. Yeah, so they're older than us. They're more mature than us, but they're also more immature than us. You know, we're the ones that bring a bit of class to the Haudaki Big Show. It's sort of a more modern and more progressive sort of outlook. Do we need wacky nicknames? I mean, yes, we're on the radio, but every radio show under the sun has someone with a wacky nickname. Do we need that?

48:42Mike Minogue:Why can't we just be Christopher and James?

48:48Jason Hoyte:3483

48:49Mike Minogue:Sure 3483 Or if you've got any other name suggestions For our show You're being very weird about it You don't want to use your name You'd rather be known as Pugs The Hodaki

48:58Jason Hoyte:What is it?

48:59Mike Minogue:The Hodaki Breakfast Show With Christopher Key and James Pugsley What do you think? Shit hot The Hodaki Big Show With Jase, Mike and Keezy Tune in Weekdays at 4 On Radio Hodaki Ever last on The Hodaki Breakfast It is no ads till smoko with Keezy and Pug-san, and just before Nine Pugs, we did a bit of asthma chat. We were talking about how I get bullied on the big show for various things, and you actually secretly have all of those things as well.

49:27Jason Hoyte:And that's the kind of thing that they brought us in for to fill in while Gerium and I and Hoodie J and Moggy were away. Yeah. It's some sort of top-level content just to kind of pad it out and keep the standards high. And with that in mind, it's asthma chat. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. We're doing that, aren't we?

49:43Mike Minogue:Asthma chat with Keezy and Pugs. You asked on 3483, hey, what preventer are you running and what... Or if you are running a preventative or a reactive. That's right. So for those that don't have asthma, embarrassing.

50:00Jason Hoyte:Loser.

50:01Mike Minogue:I love having asthma. It's so cool. A preventative is one you take every day, usually once a day, I think. Yeah. And then the reactive is when you're starting to get a bit chesty. you have a few puffs on the old Ventolin a bit wheezy you have a few puffs on the Ventolin which I believe is the most common reactive Pugs yes I would agree you ran a Ventolin reactive oh I ran it you ran it hard bizarrely a lot of texts through on 3483 on this very topic definitely wasn't joking when I solicited for that this one comes in from Anonymous g'day fellas Simbacort suck on it every night So he does his preventative at night When do you do yours?

50:41Mike Minogue:Oh that's the same thing When do I do yours?

50:45Jason Hoyte:Mine usually before a run So maybe in the morning

50:49Mike Minogue:But even if you don't do a run? No Because isn't a preventative the one that you have every single day?

50:56Jason Hoyte:I mean if it's Mine's not that bad So mine's like if I know I'm going to do a physical activity Or if I feel a little bit of a wheeze Coming on Then I'll run my simbacore

51:06Mike Minogue:But isn't that you being reactive? That's what the Ventolin's for. No. When do you use the Ventolin? I don't. What the hell are we doing here, pugs? We're talking about...

51:16Jason Hoyte:I said before you use Ventolin, you said yeah. No, I used Ventolin when I was a kid. Right. So I used that reactively when I was a kid, when I got Wheezy. And now, if I feel that maybe there's a chance... You know, you can feel it in your little chesty there. Yeah, your asthma coming on, 100%. Then you'd have the Simbacore. Right, okay. Just in my case. I'm a big boy now, Keezy. I don't need it every day. G'day, fellas.

51:41Mike Minogue:Currently running Seratide and Mint Solo pods. Can't say I've heard of Seratide. I worry. I'm just Googling it here that it is... Oh, it's an inhaler. It's a combination. Yeah, okay. So it is a combination inhaler containing two active medications.

51:55Jason Hoyte:You just had a little cough there. Do you want your...

51:56Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm going to use my Simbacort, even though I should be using a reactive like Ventolin. Pugs. Don't chastise me about my asthma. Seratide is a brand name for a combination inhaler containing two active medications,

52:11Mike Minogue:flutacosone, propionate, and cell metrol, which of course is a long-acting bronchodilator. Now, mint solopods, great reactive.

52:24Jason Hoyte:Is it? Yeah. Because the mint kind of clears out your bronchioles.

52:28Mike Minogue:Mint solopods. Is that like a vape? Oh, it's a vape. Yeah. Ah, that's funny. Okay. if you just joined us we're doing asthma chat G'day fellas three of my friends cured their asthma thanks to a rigorous regime of cigarettes true story

52:44Jason Hoyte:I'd like to learn more about that if you hear this text us more

52:47Mike Minogue:3483 yeah please sounds like they just swapped it out for lung cancer currently running Vanir as a preventative Ventolin as a reactive Vanir never heard of it Vanir just googled it it is a prescription combination inhaler used to treat the symptoms of asthma. It's got a combination of buddhisonide and formaterol. Pugs, package this shit up and send it to the Radio Awards. Asthma Chat is excellent. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. That is brand new from Daily J. It's called Two Together on the Hauraki Breakfast Show. No Ad Still Smoker with Keezy and Pugsan. and Pugs, that is Kiwi Music, Daily J, a great New Zealand band.

53:36Mike Minogue:Very partial to their tunes. I've got quite a lot of them on my playlists in that.

53:40Jason Hoyte:I remember them very distinctly because we've interviewed them at least two or three times on the Horeki Big Show, but there's about 15 of them in the band. Yeah. And they all come in for the chat and I love it because you get to meet all of them and they're all good bastards. Yeah. But it's like we've got maybe two mics

53:55Mike Minogue:and so I just remember them crowding around all the microphones. We've just got a room full of swagged out young dudes. They are cool because, you know, you've got your electric guitar there. a bit of an electro sound as well. Saxophone comes out every now and then. Yeah. Great band. Check him out at hodaki.co.nz forward slash locals only. If you'd like more information on that new song, once again, two together. Pugs, you have had an interesting holiday break. You have had various misadventures. Yeah. One thing that happened whilst you were down in Wellington at your family

54:25Jason Hoyte:house where your mum lives. Yes. I have had a few misadventures, not to say I haven't had a great holiday, but nobody cares about that. They want to hear what went wrong. And this one's kind of an aside. I've got a great final misadventure tomorrow. This is like an unofficial. Now, I had spent some great quality whānau time down there with my mum and my sister and my niece. Yep. And we were all doing our final breakfast before I left to take the road up to Hawke's Bay where my father lives and my partner has her family from there. And my mum was like, oh, don't go just yet. I'll make you a coffee.

55:02Jason Hoyte:Oh, that's nice. A road coffee. I'll make you some breakfast. And I was like, thanks, mum. That's really sweet. She made me a little bit of avo on toast, a little bit of avo and tomato on toast. It's a specialty around her ways. And she made me a beautiful black coffee just to get me energized for the road trip. Sitting there, chatting with her, sipping my coffee. You know, I ended up delaying my leave a little bit because I was catching up with mum one more time before I left. And I didn't know when I would catch up with her next. so I'm sipping my coffee there and then I get to the last bit and you know you get to the last bit and you just hoof the whole thing back or boof it I don't know what the word is and as I boofed it back something like flew into my mouth with the last little sip flew into your mouth man you must have boofed it hard I was like shivers I've got to get on the road and so I boofed it and it flew into my mouth and you know I spat it back into the cup I was like what you know what were you thinking at that moment were you like solid bit of coffee or something yeah 100 % like coffee bean Coffee grounds or whatever.

55:56Jason Hoyte:You know what I mean? Just like. Right. And so I didn't swallow. I just went, oh, that's bad, you know. And so I went over to the sink where she was and I just tipped that out into the sink there. What do you reckon it was?

56:07Mike Minogue:I don't know. It could be anything. It could be, like I say, like some sort of solid granulated. Yeah, I thought maybe the coffee was off or something. But it would have dissolved in the hot water.

56:17Jason Hoyte:Yeah. I don't know. What was it? It was a cockroach. A dirty, great, stinking cockroach That is disgusting Dead Dead and also In my mouth Slow cooked in your coffee For about 15 minutes Brewed I have to take a pause there Broiled I might start gagging Really? 100 %

56:39Mike Minogue:So you had cockroach soup in your mouth Chris And it was bathing in it for like 15 minutes I literally can't talk Like how gross would it be? No No, listen

56:50Jason Hoyte:I'm taking my headphones off.

56:51Mike Minogue:Come on, pugs, we're doing a radio show. You can't. Sorry, no. You're being paid to be here, all right? You paid a lot of money to be here. Barely. So if a cockroach jumped onto your tongue and then jumped off again, I'd be like, ah!

57:02Jason Hoyte:Yeah. Imagine it having a bath. I hadn't thought about that. I literally hadn't thought about it soaking. Yeah. And all of its nutrients just kind of dissolving into the coffee.

57:12Mike Minogue:It's like, you know how you love ramen? Do you love ramen? Don't ruin ramen for me, please. No, no, no, but you know how they do a lot, like they'll boil down the animal bones and stuff and make a broth. Yeah. Yeah, you had a cockroach broth.

57:25Jason Hoyte:I literally can't talk. Did you tell your mum? 100 % she was standing right next to me. Was she horrified? Brushed my teeth for about 10 minutes after, washed it out, like hosed it with the kitchen sink tap. Yeah, right. The force it. And then got on the road and had to not think about that.

57:38Mike Minogue:And did she drink much coffee? Was it in there? Yeah, all the time. Really?

57:42Jason Hoyte:Yeah.

57:43Mike Minogue:Because I was like, oh, maybe she never drinks it, so it's just sitting. No, she always drinks coffee. Wow. so

57:47Jason Hoyte:gross hopefully it wasn't living in the coffee and hopefully I think it was just sitting in the mug yeah sure wasn't looking at it

57:54Mike Minogue:yeah sure man I think you've got baby cockroaches inside you now the Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki

58:12Mike Minogue:well it's almost 10am which means it is Pug-san and Keezy's final break for the day, Pugs. The Big Willies. No, we're not doing that.

58:21Jason Hoyte:The Hodaki Breakfast Big Willies.

58:23Mike Minogue:It's a shit name, Pugs, because both of our middle names are William. So we're going to be called the Big Willies? Come on, man. 3483. We had a couple of other ones come through. No, we're not reading those. Connie Boy and the Nips. Connie Boy and the Nips. See, that's quite funny. Yeah, see? But who's the Nips? True. Because you've also got Big Nips. Not as big. What about nips in the nips?

58:47Jason Hoyte:What about nips and slightly bigger nips?

58:49Mike Minogue:What about four big nips? What about areola in the paddy? Areola in the paddy. See, I like that. Now we're talking. It kind of rolls off the tongue, eh? Or Christopher Key and James Pugsley on the Hodaki Breakfast Show.

59:00Jason Hoyte:So shit.

59:00Mike Minogue:Whatever it's going to be called, it will be back again tomorrow morning from 6am. And then this Friday, Bruko Mount Maunganui, the big show, reunites ahead of the Black Clash. 4pm. We will see you there. Pugs, what are you up to today, mate?

59:13Jason Hoyte:Honestly, no plans. I'm going to try to get a workout in and then hopefully, I don't know, cook some dinner later on, maybe play some PlayStation in between. How good, man. Kind of loving this life. Jerry and Mania have it real chill, eh?

59:25Mike Minogue:Breakfast show, hours rule. They have it super chill. Super chill. It's not as hard yakka as... They do barely any work. Yeah, whereas we're flat out. Whereas on Drive, it's all systems go. I'm always, yeah, far out. Drive is overwhelming. Hey, I'm going to go play golf with Hoardy J. Oh, tell him I say hi, would you? And Mania Stewart. and a fourth person who you don't know. But I will be back tomorrow morning at 6am. Cannot bloody wait. Only one show to go until the big show finally returns. We will see you this Friday, Brewco, Mount Maunganui. We will see you at the Black Clash. And also you'll see us tomorrow morning, 6am.
