0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome, this is Big, to the Hauraki Big Show. Really Big.

0:13Keyzie:With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, k'day you mad bastard. It's great to have your company on this glorious Monday afternoon. It is the 24th of August, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take away Reburger today. Reburger. Great stuff, fellas. Mogi, you Australian, you Greek god. How's life? Going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. What a weekend. It actually felt like I had a long weekend, really. Right, yes. Because we were down in Wellington last week for Beervana.

0:50We did a live show on the Thursday night at Bethel Woods. on the terrace, magnificent time had by all. And then on the Friday, we went along to Beavana, but we were sort of done relatively, you know, after that first session. Yes. And then the rest of the day was sort of ours to do with as we willed. And so I really enjoyed myself. Yes. Less so on the acidity there. But, yeah, I feel like I've had a good three, three and a half days off. Magnificent time to be alive. Keezy, how about you, brother? Yeah, I'm great, fellas. I had a romantic weekend away from the island. Oh, that's right.

1:26Keyzie:Now you're talking. With my wife. It was really nice. It was really nice. Although, and we went into great detail on the podcast outro, the disclaimer, which comes out at 7.30 tonight. It sounds like I really missed a big day on the Friday there in Wellington, which I'm a bit gutted about. Oh, no, it was just a very nice day in Welly. 100%. There's nothing, you know, too dramatic. It's a standy old day. Yeah, man. It reminded me of when you're a kid and you, like, pull a sickie and you have the day off school, but then at school something really fun's happening. You're like, oh, damn it, why today?

1:56Yeah, that's kind of how it feels, but I'm good, fellas. How are you, Jase?

2:00Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Can't complain. A pretty sedate weekend, I think it's fair to say. And, you know, fired up, fired up to be back for the GOAT today. Did you say the GOAT? Yeah, man. Ready? You're right! This is the GOAT, the countdown for real music connoisseurs. Yeah man, it's still going Still going, fellas Of course, another couple of chances to win$100 cash Just keep listening When you hear that cue to call I'll wait 100 hodaki and it could be all yours My only complaint about the goat, fellas It's going too quickly for my liking You know what I mean? It feels like it's going to be over soon How about this?

2:39The greatest of all time countdown, 10 ,000 songs Sounds good to me I'd be down for that

2:43Keyzie:Let's go Shall we crack into it then? Number 318 318. The GOAT. The greatest of all time. Certified. The best of the best. Undeniable. The greatest thing that humans ever made. Turn it up. Greatness on Radio Hauraki. 318. Foo Fighters. The Pretender. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Coming in at number 317. Out of control, Chemical Brothers there, fellas. June. Now, old Keezy had a very, very sexy weekend here. It actually came up in conversation on Friday, didn't it, Jase, when we were talking about Keezy on air. That's right. A what? Yes. I missed that.

3:32It was a little between-the-sheets special with me, Keezy, with Keezy not being there. You want to go back and give that a listen? Should I? What were you talking about? You mind your business. Go and have a look

3:45Keyzie:Go and have a listen Keezy Shocking Right It was shocking You're a shocker Just for those who don't know I was away on Friday I was having a birthday weekend away With my wife Yes She booked a lovely trip To Waiheke Island Because the three years Prior to that Every sort of weekend Of my birthday My wife goes Should we go away somewhere nice And then I say Sorry I'm in Wellington At Beavana with the fellas Yes So this time I was like You know what Fourth year Let's go away somewhere nice Went to Waiheke Island And Mogi actually sent through a whole list of recommendations, places to go. Really, really good suggestions, Mogi.

4:20My favourite place there, Manowar Winery. Manowar, yeah. Holy shit. One of the best wineries I've ever been to. Yeah, it's a ripper. It's amazing. And then a few other good places too. But we mostly just stayed inside. How are you?

4:32Keyzie:Hello. How are you talking? Oh, yeah. And your little hotel room there. Well, it wasn't a hotel room. it was an entire house on a hill overlooking the south side of Oropiu is the part of Waiheke Island there. Far more secluded, 30 minutes away from the ferry in town. Want a bit of seclusion, don't you? How many rooms are we talking there, Keezy? I think I had about four rooms, but we just had the one. Yeah. Hot tub on the deck. Barbecue. Oh, barbecue. Wood burner. Oh, yeah. I think I had a spit, but I was like, I don't know how to use that shit. And you'd probably need a pig or a lamb for that.

5:15Keyzie:You know what I'm saying? For what? For the spit. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, you can't. You're not going to chuck a steak on a spit. Totally. Totally. So, yeah, it was amazing. We had the log burner on, All Blacks playing, Warriors playing. Yeah. So you just watched sport all weekend then. Is that basically what happened? No, sport. Coffing red wine? I was coffing red wine at one point, watching the Warriors there. While the All Blacks were on, I was eating pancakes, which my lovely wife made. Oh, yeah. And it was raining in parts, but it was very moody. At night, we were doing jigsaw puzzles.

5:50I had a puzzle. My wife had a puzzle. You had your own puzzle. Yeah, yeah.

5:54Keyzie:It's kind of... What's that? Just massively ruined it for me now that you've said that. Unless, it depends. What were the images of the jigsaw puzzle? Oh, yeah. Well, we have this thing where we just do puzzles of places we've been. and so mine was of a spot in Italy and hers was of a spot in Japan we're going to.

6:21Oh, and then I did one of your mum's house.

6:27There's a bit there.

6:30Keyzie:My wife and I were talking the other day, Mogi, about puzzles and how... Sounds like a great combo. You know, you can take photos and it used to be friends of ours for their Christmas presents. You used to take a photo and then get it made into a puzzle. Like a photo of the family from the previous Christmas, for example. Or you could do nudes. Or places you've been. God, I'm going to need to find a big piece there. Bloody hell. Is that your downstairs? But yeah, it was a great weekend, fellas. A little hack, though, for people. During winter, places that are normally that go off in summer, like you know they've got discounts on so this house you pay for two nights but you get three nights there that's not bad is it and it's not like it's hot and you're going swimming at the beach but there's a hot tub and you know it's quiet out you know you've got the fire on sounds good yeah sounds real good it's a little tip there it's good stuff Kesey thanks man did you finish your puzzles?

7:30yeah yeah both oh one and a half we finished my one and we got halfway through my wife's one yeah

7:37Keyzie:hell of a weekend Holy hecka You know how to turn it on I tell you that much Yeah You're a mad bastard Hers was a 50 piece Hers was a 50 piece Yeah How many pieces was yours? Mine was I think it was 40 You said it was an 8 piece It was a 4 piece Look it was a 1 piece Alright It was a picture Of Italy And I spent all weekend Working on it Do you want to throw The old Countdown Joey No don't worry about it The Goat The countdown for real music connoisseurs 316 U2 Where the streets have no name The Hauraki Big Show With Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown When being a music connoisseur pays off Sure does 100 bucks cash Life-changing, fellas.

8:38Keyzie:Life-changing. It certainly is. After being at Waiheke Island over the weekend, I was like, if I won this goat prize,$100, I'd probably buy a holiday home over there. Yeah, why not? Why wouldn't you? A helipad. Yes. You know, a little pier, so you've got your own boat. Yes, a little jetty. Yeah, a little jetty. I'd be tempted to pick up a restaurant as well. Yes. Buy an existing one? A winery? Buy a winery. Yeah. Far out. Do you reckon you could do both, the holiday home and the winery? Yeah, totally, man. For a hundred bucks. The New Zealand dollar is very strong at the moment. Is it? Oh, yes.

9:14Keyzie:Hey, fellas, let's go to the phone line. G'day, Jared, you mad bastard. How's life? How you going, mate? Good, thank you. Good on you, mate. Tell me, Jared, what do you do for a crust? Oh, I'm a spray painter. Oh, yeah. You're a mad dog. Yeah, back bone. Hey, Jared, are we talking cars or houses or? Cars. Yeah. Yeah, how good's Tupac, Jared? Pardon me, how's the two-pack? Yeah, how's the two-pack? Two-pack's good, isn't it? Good, good, good. Good, two-pack's all right, mate. It's all right? Yeah, okay, cool. I've got no more paint chat. Tell me, Jared, what are you going to do with$100, mate? Beersies for the boys.

9:48Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Backbone. Oh, yeah, massive backbone. That's the one. Good stuff. You're not going to buy a winery on Waiheke, Jared? No, no. No. He's in Christchurch for a start there, Keezy. That's okay, man. There's such things as aeroplanes. It's all G. Jared, you hold the line and old Pugsan will sort you out. Thank you, mate. Go on, mate. I got a feeling like he had to go. Yeah, he was all business, wasn't he? Yeah, right on, Keezy. Good one, man. Yeah, good one, man. Just give me the cash. Yeah, beers, Waiheke Island. Low, low, low. Let's go. Good stuff. It's actually over the weekend, my wife was having a crack at me while we were sitting there.

10:24Keyzie:When you say having a crack at you. Like dissing me. Oh, right. And then she said a particularly offensive one, which made me stop and look at her and go, what? And then she went, da-douche, da-douche. And I was like, can you never do that ever again? But she has a backbone. Do you have those moments with your partners where one or the other will, something that will cross the line? You must have that happen occasionally, Moggy, surely. I'm 100 % sure that I do, yes. I'm 100 % sure. Nothing I can think of at the moment. Things are going pretty good at the moment, Keezy. Oh, that's a nice change, man.

10:59Hey, coming up, the Lars over the weekend, Jase. You won't know this. They had a huge win over the Rabbit O's.

11:04Keyzie:What do you mean I won't know it, mate? That's a hell of a game. But he sells seventh on the table. So, you know, bloody good side. A few injuries. But hell of a game. Fellas are looking real good. Guess where we are on the table, man. First. Yeah, we're going to chat to Charlie Gubb about it next. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Guns. Roses there on the Hauraki Big Show. Monday afternoon, the time is 20 minutes to 5 o 'clock. Obviously a bit of rugby league action over the weekend. With that in mind, we've got the man, the myth, the legend, the one, the only, Charlie Gubb.

11:47Keyzie:What's up, brothers? Here he is now. Charlie, you've been coming on the show for nearly on probably seven years now. windy. We've always talked about having a sting for you. We've never quite got there but today we've got something special for your brother. Kick back, relax and listen to this bastard. The ghost of Charlie Gubb. You like that man?

12:16For those who don't know Charlie Gubb was meant to come along and see us at the Beervana live show down at Bethel Woods in Wellington on Thursday night last week, but he ghosted all of us. He's apologised for it. Won't play it again, man. But just noting that you did completely ignore us. Forgive me for having social anxiety, brothers.

12:34Keyzie:Yeah, no, look, Charlie, I get it, mate. I get it. I'd do the same thing with these backbones. Yeah. So you want me to tell you how my weekend went? Yes, please. Go on. So started off Friday night. I went to visit my friend who had a successful kidney transplant. He's just gone home. Anyway, I've gone into his room. He's sleeping, mate. There's a giant box of tramadol, so I've grabbed two trays, left my gift to him. Then I've gone home and got stuck into those. And you know what? I reckon it's opened my third eye, my pineal gland, they call it. And I just kind of watched the Warriors play, and I'm thinking, far out.

13:15like you know you're almost thinking like are we going to slip up versus the Rabbitohs how's Luke Henson going to go he plays great we dominate they start coming back we score again and then the guy that shouldn't even be playing the fourth string halfback kicks a field goal to put us in first place for the rest of the season it's kind of like a just a moment like wow we are really living in the good old days fellas we really are yeah it was absolutely amazing wasn't it and what was kind of really good about it was to be put under pressure so you open up a huge lead you're smacking them up but then momentum shifts they come back at us they get to within six points after we've had a 20 odd point lead and any other pretty much year of the existence of the was you would say pack it up she's all over we're going to lose by 30 but they showed grit they knuckled down they made adjustments on that right edge which was a shambles but they made the adjustments and it wasn't leaking as many points.

14:12And then we scored and they just gave up. We just put enough pressure on them and they quit. It was, I think, a great game. It was a great game. And we like to back up after the week before when we'd had a massive performance as well. It's just, I don't know, the guys just keep turning up and it's all 17 of them. It's not just like one star player. You know, we've had how many star players out? Jackson, Ford, Roger, all the half, and everyone just keeps stepping up and doing their job. So, man, I'm very confident that we'll be coming over with the minor premiership. We're at home next week versus the Knights, who are good, but we'll be at home.

14:50We've got a lot to play for. And then we've got the final game versus at home versus the Seagulls, who will be planning Mad Monday. So we should put a score on them. Charlie Gubb, Kesey here. Hope you're well, mate. Yeah, good, brother. Just round 25, we're 25 rounds into the NRL, and the Warriors are first on the ladder. That is absolutely mind-boggling. This is one of the greatest eras of... I'm so freaking excited by what I'm seeing, but for some reason I can't believe it either, Charlie. I'm too scared to think, wow, minor premiership, if you know what I mean. Yeah, I'm the same. It's like every week something happens like, oh, damn, that might be the end of our run.

15:36Every week a good player gets injured and the next week someone else emerges. But I know what you mean. It might be the tramadol talking, but we're very lucky this year. It's not luck because we've had a lot of tough years in the past. We've had some lean years, haven't we, fellas? When I was playing, it was very lean. But at the moment, there's a lot of marbling at the moment. where it's a Wagyu season.

16:02Keyzie:I don't know what you guys are banging on about. I mean, I reckon the boys, I've felt confident about the boys all year. I just had a feeling, Gubby. And, you know, particularly when you look at all the injuries and stuff like that, you know, your fourth string halfback, for God's sake. That's pretty vague stuff. I mean, that is unbelievable. And he gets a field goal. Don't just talk louder. Let's ignore it, man. Let me put something else by you here, Charlie, as well. Dom Young and Frizzell are out next week, probably suspended. They play for the Knights. That's for the Knights. So we're going to have a pretty good run at them, and it doesn't feel to me, and this is what I quite like and I'm a bit excited about for the rest of the year, is I don't think the Waz have got a game in them like the Roosters put forth for the West Tigers yesterday when they lost by one point.

16:53Like, essentially first place versus last place. I just don't see us having that kind of bad game. So it heartens me to know that we've already smacked up the Panthers and that the Roosters are probably our biggest opposition, although bloody sad to see DWZ to go out on the weekend. Yeah. Broken collarbone, Jase. Yeah. That sucks. Yeah, it does. What position does he play again, Jase? Wing man, come on. Wrong prop. Hey, Charlie, before we let you go, mate, could you please give us your Porter King player of the round? On the drop goal alone I'm going to give it to Hanson Although he wasn't the best player on the field Having the foresight to do that And put us in first place for the whole fan base It's going to him So he'll be getting a big bottle of scrumpy A magnum bottle Yeah boy And that is a pretty iconic shot as well Four-string half bit So good And don't forget If you're in the Wellington region And you need a Port-a-loo Hit up Uncle Charlie at Port-a-King And he'll see you right Have a good week Charlie We'll chat next week alright Yep, let's get around the boys this weekend, fellas.

17:54Yeah, totally, mate. 100%, 100%. Good on you, Charlie. Shall we get back to the countdown, fellas?

17:59Keyzie:Yeah, I think so. What number? 313. You're listening to the GOAT, the greatest of all-time countdown on Radio Hauraki. Number 313, the Pixies, monkey gone to heaven. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Big there on the radio. Hauraki, big show this Monday afternoon. The time is seven minutes to five o 'clock. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

18:34Yeah.

18:35Keyzie:That's right. Woo. Hey, fellas, over the weekend, I watched a Hoorayjay favourite. Alone. Yay. Alone. Hey! And this one is set on, the one that I watched was set on Tasmania, and it's got a Kiwi possum trapper as one of the fellas on there. Yeah. My daughter and I ended up watching it. It's good stuff. Reality show, isn't it? It's a reality show where you get dropped alone in the middle of nowhere and you have to be the last one, the last man or woman standing. There's 10 people that start and only one's left standing at the end there, Keezy. You can opt to ring up the producers at any time and say, I'm out.

19:19Or if you get sick or anything like that, they pull you, so you don't actually have a choice about whether you stay or not. But Tasmania, she's a harsh, very moist. You wouldn't think so, would you? Yeah. How do you think of it? Well, I think the time of the year is she's pretty grim. Oh, is it winter? Yeah. Well, yeah. And they put them up in the mountains a bit there, so she's a snowy bastard as well. But yeah, what's really interesting about it is you've got people that are extremely capable, but you're getting up to day 10, 11, 12, they've had nothing to eat. Yes. Nothing to eat. And so these are guys that are bushmen, and you've got a guy that's a trapper there, a possum trapper in New Zealand, there's possums in the tree, he can see the possums, he can't catch the possums.

Read the full transcript

20:03Isn't that interesting? So I think what's really good about it is you just assume that it'll be fine, but they put them somewhere where actually there's not a lot of food to be had. No. It's a scarce thing, so bloody difficult to catch. So I'm really enjoying it, and it's great to have something to watch with my daughter. I'm going a very strong four buzies out of a possible five on TV and Z Plus. Was the Kiwi's name Shay?

20:27Keyzie:Shay, that's right. Yeah, he's a very appealing, very classic kind of Kiwi down-to-earth dude. Going into it, I was desperate for him to win an hour, Even because he's struggling, I'm desperate for him to sort it out and pull through because he lives a pretty tough existence back in New Zealand from the sounds of it. And he could do with a quarter of a million dollars, Kesey. Ah. Yeah, man. They're not good money in trapping possums. Apparently, I don't know. Well, you could always do it with more, I guess. Yes. He's made some brilliant traps. Yes. These bastard wombats and Tasmanian devils, Kesey, they're not setting the bloody thing off.

21:01Oh, right, because he'd eat a Tasmanian devil. He'd eat it.

21:05Keyzie:He also makes, Shay also makes YouTube videos of where he lives, of how to survive in the Bush and all this. Yeah, I have. Okay, you're good. No, I really like him. Fellas, I watched the original June movie, and I was just looking it up to see when it came out. I think 1984. Sounds about right. Yeah. And it was ridiculous, because compared to the latest, with all the new technology and all that sort of stuff. It was pretty silly, but it had a kind of charm to it. You know, I like these older movies where it's just a bit more simple. The storytelling's a bit more simple. They're not relying on technology so much.

21:46Keyzie:And some of their special effects were stupid. I love old effects, though. That's what I mean, though. Because they're having a crack. It makes you laugh. Yeah. You know what I mean? And how ridiculous they are. But look, as a sort of Sunday afternoon watch, it was all G. I'll give it three buzies. You're giving it three buzies. You said it was terrible off air. You were like, oh, wasn't that great? No, it wasn't great. And you're giving it three buzies, so you're recommending it. But yes, because it's watchable and it's just so silly. Yeah, right. You know what I mean? Yeah, okay. I don't imagine you did any TV watching over the weekend, Keezy.

22:20We watched the All Blacks and the WARS, and then our mission was to not watch TV at all outside of that while we were away. Good job. And it was good. Yeah, nice.

22:28Keyzie:Hey, coming up after five o 'clock, another chance to win$100. And apparently you've got some questions, Ree, my come dine with the fellas. Yeah, that's happening this Sunday afternoon. Horty J is hosting, everyone. Got some questions, mainly from my wife. And one big question, which we've just realised in the last hour or so, which is huge. It's drama. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Monday afternoon. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by Reburger.

23:03Serving good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway Reburger today. Mmm, yummy. Fellas, huge news out of Reburger. If you head into your local Reburger, you can try the brand new Chop House. Oh, yeah. Chop House. Talk me through it, Keezy. Yeah, what is it, man? Smoky, Louisiana-rubbed pure New Zealand beef.

23:23Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Cheese. Oh, yes. Heard of it? Yes. Double streaky bacon. So that's twice as much as the normal amount. Lettuce. Is it twice as streaky or twice as much bacon? That's a good question I'll ask. Okay. Lettuce, tomato, fresh onion and re-burger sauce. And from today and for the rest of the week, free fries if you order that burger. Oh, wow. Once again, that is the new Chop House burger. Funnily enough, I was just talking to my wife about dinner tonight. So now that I've heard that and you get free fries with it, I'm in. Are you in? I am in. Why do you keep lying about going to Reburger? I feel like it does more damage to the brand than it does.

24:10Easy. Please. Listening and being like, man, the host on Odaki keeps pretending to go but not going. It mustn't be very good.

24:17Keyzie:No, that's just your guys' perspective. I know what I'm doing.

24:24Keyzie:Such a yarn. fries. Their fries are the bomb. Seriously, they are. It's good chap. Hey, on a serious note. Yeah, on a serious note. Enough joking aside about going to Ree Burger. But on a serious note, the chips are good. Chips are yummy. Now listen, as are the burgers, by the way. Ree Food. Apparently there's some questions about the come down with the fellas. Yes. And we've just discovered something about the actual invite on the Sunday. Yeah. And it is drama. I'm worried about it. Drama. But let's get back to the countdown number 311. The Goat, the countdown for real music connoisseurs on Radio Hauraki.

25:05311, The Cure, Lullaby. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

25:14Keyzie:Yes, indeed, T-Rex there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon coming in at, oh, it's just gone, 310, I think. That's right, Jase, 310. Yeah, bang on. But right now it's time for Come Dine With The Fellas. Jase, you're hosting The Fellas this Sunday afternoon for the next instalment of Big Show Come Dine With Me. Yes. My wife has got a thousand questions because you announced your theme last week, which is midwinter Christmas. Late winter. Yeah, sounds stupid. Late winter. Late winter Christmas. Just technically speaking, that's just more accurate. It's spring though, isn't it? Spring's not till next month.

25:55Keyzie:20th. Yeah, so it'll be very, very close, actually, to the first day of winter. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So late winter's spot on, Jason. Late winter Christmas, really cool. Well, technically, spring doesn't start till the 21st of September. What do you say, technically, that's when you really notice a change? But, like, date-wise, 1st of September. But anyway. But he's right, though. It is late winter. Very late winter, I'd say. I'd almost call it spring. I reckon we do a new theme. To me, drama, because I said Sunday at 2 o 'clock. That's right. Sunday, 2 o 'clock. It just so happens that Sunday, 4 o 'clock, the Warriors are playing the Knights at Mount Smart Stadium.

26:37Yeah. So how does watching the – if it's Christmas Day at the Horty J household, which we're creating, recreating, do you usually watch the Warriors?

26:46Keyzie:I mean, whenever they're on, I'm always watching the Warriors. Oh, sweet. Now the question is going to be, I mean, if we all gang up together, because my wife's not going to be keen on that, I can tell you right now, she's going to say, no, no sport. But actually she might not. What I can do is tentatively put it forward to her tonight and see what the vibe is. You've just got to give her the old what up. You've got to tell her how it's going to be, Jason. I've just got to go, the fellas, they love their wahs. The wahs are on fire at the moment. You love your wahs. I love my waas. I love my wife.

27:21Say that too. Add that in there. Yeah, yeah, good. Yeah, I just think, well, what are the options here? I mean, one of the alternatives is to just bring it forward to, you know, have a mid-winter Christmas breakfast. Late winter Christmas. Late winter. Just to make sure we're clear of the waas. Well, or we do the sackedie.

27:42Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Yeah. Maybe. Yeah. But again, my wife's not going to be happy about the change. I'm busy Saturday. Keezy's not coming. Okay, so it'll just be Mogey. So just to clarify, it's so unheard of to just have the telly on the WARS that we're thinking of moving the whole thing. It's so rare. It just never happens. Like imagine all of us together watching the WARS. How far would that be? Yeah, it'd be pretty good. That's a 10 for entertainment. Alternatively, could you start it at midday, Jase, or do you think you're going to be under too much time pressure? No, that's a possibility, Mogi. What could also happen is that one of you fellas inadvertently sit on the couch where the controls are, are accidentally turning it on.

28:29Oh, the television controls.

28:30Keyzie:Yes, and I'll make them disappear so we can't turn it off. Oh, yeah. I mean, we could just have it on mute. So you would rather one of us pretends to turn the TV on using our arse and then you hide the remote rather than just asking your wife if that's all general. Telling your wife. Well, I'm going to, bloody hell, we're going to have a chat tonight. Bloody hell, really? We're going to have a chat about the Waz, okay? And then I can give you a definitive answer tomorrow. Because at first I was like, oh, no, I'm going to have to wait and watch the Waz delayed because I want to be locked in on Horty J's late winter, early spring Christmas.

29:06Yeah. For me, it's a deal breaker.

29:08Keyzie:But also, you know, I don't want you guys to be watching the Waz while you're enjoying delicious food. Look, there's nothing wrong with just sitting around the TV with a plate of whatever muck you're making and watching the war. I've got to be honest, I'd be happy with that too, but this is the conversation we have to have. Boydee, Jay, you have to look at this like, who else has got the opportunity to have as their entertainment the Warriors playing Newcastle? Because there's the entertainment value as well. the entertainment element to this competition too. And also it's perfect because you're the one hosting and you've said openly you don't like the Waz.

29:49But you've got Mogi and Keezy coming around who very much do. So you know that's going to be a 10. Honestly, the difference is we don't watch the Waz, zero. We do watch the Waz, 10.

29:58Keyzie:Now, if the Waz don't go very well, zero. Zero is where I'll be fuming. Yeah, that's the other thing I was going to say. Probably smash the place up. This is really a dilemma. It is. And there's more where that came from too. So that's the first thing, but we'll get into that next. all right? Okay, man. There's more questions. Back to the countdown. The Ghost. This is one of the greatest. It's like the Michelin guide for music. On Radio Hodaki. Number 309. Blind Melon. No rain. The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki. Yes, indeed. Number 308 in the countdown there, Alison Chains.

30:37Keyzie:Fellas, how good, eh? Really good, Jase. Let's pick up the discussions. Ari Hoity J's late winter Christmas. Come dine with The Fembers. Alright fellas, fire away. What's the problem? So you're hosting us, oh Pugs is here by the way, hey Pugs. Hi, how are you? Yeah good. Sorry, I was waiting for the The sting, yeah no, one sting max. Oh no. It's a new rule. Yeah sweet. So this weekend Hoity J's hosting us Sunday afternoon two onwards, probably two to what knowing you three? Oh, 2, 2.45 Yeah, okay And that way you'll be back in time for the whars Yeah And your own joints So great That would be really good, James If you could just drop the food off to my house Well, I could I mean, glad wrap it up and stuff That's a possibility So, the theme is late winter Christmas Yep My wife instantly very excited So, first question Ooh, do we have to wear Christmas stuff?

31:36Christmas jumper, that sort of thing Well. Ooh, hope not. Do you have a theme? Because my wife loves Christmas.

31:45Keyzie:Because, well, so does my wife, Keezy. She went after this, Keezy. Oh, really? She loves Christmas as well. She bought a very nice jersey. Your wife did? Yeah. A Christmas jersey? Yeah. Okay, so it is Christmas. No, no, but I don't want to put pressure on the feels. Just come. Smart casual. Not even smart, necessarily. Just me or whatever. Not trackies. Not acres. Jase, the only one here that wears trackies is you. Okay, so we're just dressing up normal. So if my wife shows up in her Christmas jumper, that's okay. That's fantastic. Has she got those Christmas pyjamas still? Oh, she does. Tell her to wear those.

32:22She's not wearing jammies to your house. Summer jammies anyway. Next question. Are we doing Secret Santa? Not telling. Well you need to tell us Because we need to buy presents No Great Okay cool

32:38Keyzie:Will you have presents for us? Not telling Oh It's a secret Wow Yeah When do I Do you want to Did you do Do we do a menu? Later We'll do a menu Later in the week Okay so I'll get that out to you fellas Once we decide what the hell we're going to eat Right okay so Late winter Christmas No secret Santa No And no wearing anything. Okay, all right. There's like a billion questions. I don't even know where to start. There was just so many questions, you know what I mean? Whereabouts? Is it, it's obviously at your apartment. Yes. Is it going to be like a long, big, long table? Yes. Oh. Here he is. Yeah, well, we got a table from my father-in-law over the weekend.

33:22Keyzie:Oh, did you? Special. No, it's not special. It's just his work table. Oh, so it's just a shit table. So it's a trestle. It's a trestle table. It's not a trestle table. It's bloody solid as And obviously it'll have nice things on top Yeah right okay So yeah I mean well I'm looking forward to it It's tricky though isn't it I mean it's very hard to do a Christmas meal Oh at Christmas time let alone late winter Which is already a weird time to be having it So yeah it's just an interesting one It's a double whammy It's a double Christmas for you fellas I've got a question Are you going to have Christmas carols Because I think it's a bit early for those Actually that was one of the questions Was playlist You're going to have Christmas music This is a real bone of contention with me and my wife.

34:04Well, you've just got to, you know, I think you've just got to get buy-in from everyone. You've got to put on the evening the way you see fit and just, you know, just make it fun. Fun, fun, fun, Joe. Yeah, yeah.

34:15Keyzie:Because, okay. Could we dress up? You know what I mean? Could we dress up? Yeah, absolutely. You're most welcome to dress up. I mean, my wife will be dressed up. I might have a bit of something on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I'll dress nice, but, you know, I'm not going to go out and spend thousands of dollars on a new Christmas sweater. Exactly, exactly. A thousand dollar Christmas sweater. And the other thing is it's very difficult to buy a Christmas sweater at this time of year, given it's August. It's a nightmare, Mogi. You've been looking. You're going to do the whole classic thing you always do and dress up like an elf?

34:46Keyzie:I may do. I may do, with my little shoes on, with the buckles and the curly end. The only thing I really care about is, will there be mistletoe? All over the roof, mate. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown. Music so good, we should charge you. Instead, we're paying you. $100 to be exact. It's good stuff, isn't it? What,$100? Yeah, man. Yeah, of course it is, man. Nothing, we're talking about this off here, and we're having a look at AI there and a little bit of Googling, nothing beats$100 cash. Incredible. It's incredible.

35:38We were looking it up for, what, 25 minutes there? We were typing in all sorts of things, and nothing was beating it.

35:43Keyzie:Nothing's beating that. Yeah. You just seemed to have a lot of buzzies on your phone, Kesey, when you were typing stuff. Well, as I say, I was just looking for stuff that would beat$100, and I couldn't find anything. Nothing. I thought I was onto something there for a minute with the buzzies, but it turns out I'm dead in. No, no. Right, okay. Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Zane, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, yeah, great, fellas. How are you guys? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. I was going to ask you what you do for a crust, but I can already see you're a sparky, a massive backbone. Well, that's sort of my hobby.

36:12Keyzie:I'm actually a musician in my trade. Oh, okay. Nice. Tell me, Zane, did you vote in the GOAT? I did. What did you vote for? I voted for Muse, Hysteria and a bit of Radiohead and a bit of Blam Blam Blam Made of Fresh in New Zealand Ah nice Good eclectic taste there Zane Good stuff What musical instrument do you play man? I play drums and piano Do you have a good fiddle? I'll leave it at somebody else Right Yeah good stuff Oh you're a shock Well I tell you what Zane Is that good stuff You are rich as. You've just won yourself$100. Mate, that's three extra pairs of drumsticks. There you go, mate.

36:58Keyzie:Get on you, mate. Chicken variety, I'm guessing. Hey, Zane, you hold the line and old pugs will have an absolute go at you, all right? All right. Good on you, mate. Good on you, mate. Thanks, mate. Backbone, eh? Old Zane there. Yeah. He's a muso. Yeah, a muso. Multi-instrumentalist. Do you think he does the electrician work just to pay for his music? Because you don't... He says it's his hobby. You don't make a lot of money musically. I think he's probably a sparky and he's lying about being a musician. Right, okay. That's how he struck me. Oh, Zanus. He said it was... What did he Zanus? He was saying that the sparky is just his hobby.

37:32You know what I mean? So he'll spend all day strumming away there. Yeah, racking up heaps of cash with his music. Yeah, and then he'll go to his special room he's got for sparky stuff. For sparking, because he just loves it. He's just got a passion for it.

37:44Keyzie:Yeah, well, I mean, I suppose I do a bit of electrical work around my joint. You know, it's a bit of a hobby. Oh, that's right. You call your mate up to come round on the ladder and change the light bulbs. Yeah, you call the landlord to change the light bulbs. Not my landlord, Keezy. Ah, yeah. Oh, my mistake. And electrician. Ah, yeah, true, true, true. The Goat. Proof that Hauraki listeners have excellent taste. 306. Queens of the Stone Age. The lost art of keeping a secret. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones.

38:20Keyzie:Hope your Monday night's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan, and vegetarian options. Reburger are redefining the norm. Scrumdedly options. Quick, another reminder, fellas, the new Chop House burger. If you order it this week, you get a free side of fries. That's the one with beef, cheese, double streaky bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and Reburger sauce. Also, another thing. Just before the six o 'clock hour there, we were talking about what's coming up in six. Yes. And then all of a sudden just went to ads halfway through it.

38:51Might have sounded like I made a mistake. Yeah. I just want everyone to know that wasn't the case. Technical issue. Technical issue. Out of my control.

38:58Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, fellas, I wouldn't just cut you off like that. Sure, man. Sure. Whatever, no. Hey, what's for dinner tonight, fellas? I was tempted to just fire off the next song. Yeah. I am probably going to be having Rebird you. Oh, here we go. After that last chat that you had, Jase, I texted my wife and I said, have you made any dinner yet? She said, no, not yet. What are you thinking? I said, how about a little bit of Reburg? She's just worried about our daughter. I said, well, why don't you just feed her that slop that we had last night, the leftovers of that, because my daughter's a vegetarian, so Reburg is kind of wasted on her.

39:33Vegan and vegetarian options are available, though. I want you to know that. Yeah, I don't know. But it's not because they're not delicious, because I know that they are Kesey. it's just that my daughter's a little bit on the picky side when it comes to that stuff so I just sort of feel like she can eat the dal that my wife made yesterday delicious and we can eat Reburguer so that's probably what I'm having Keezy well Jase you and your wife can go to Reburguer at the same time why don't you guys go together because you're getting it tonight

40:00Keyzie:I don't think so man I like to do my joint you like to do your joint yes where I go because they know me there they're like hoody jay high five High five. Yeah, boo. Get your high five. Yeah, man. That sounds cool. My wife said tonight we're having a healthy dinner because we had a naughty weekend. Food-wise. Did you have a naughty weekend? Food-wise. Oh, food-wise. Yeah, yeah. A lot of, you know, cheeses and stuff like that. Chocolate, you know, wine. Oh, cheeses. So we're having a healthy pork salad tonight. What is that funny? You're good stuff. Is it? Thank you. A pork salad. I don't know what the hell is that.

40:40Pork mints, lettuce. Oh, right.

40:43Keyzie:Okay, gotcha. Diced carrot. I have no idea what's in it. It might be a Vietnamese salad with pork. Yeah. Yeah, that's good stuff. No, it's not. Hey, now, coming up, the goat continues. In fact, we're up to number 303. Whoa. Let's punch through them. Feels. The goat. The greatest of all time. Certified. The best of the best. Undeniable. The greatest thing that humans ever made. Turn it up. Greatness on Radio Hauraki. Number 303. Black Rose. Hard to handle. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Faith no more there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening.

41:25Keyzie:The time is 17 minutes past six o 'clock. Now, that's the end of the countdown for the day, fellas. Is it? No. What? But don't despair. It'll be back again eight o 'clock tomorrow. I'm despairing. If you missed some of it throughout the day, old Hoody J put together a little montage of the highlights.

42:09Number 370, Butthole Surfers, Pepper.

42:18360, Straight Jacob Fitz, Down and Splendour.

42:28Number 350, Radiohead, Street Spirit.

42:39Number 340, Groover Mata, super styling. Super styling, sometime. Can you feel the pressure, don't someone, sometime. Number 330, Nirvana, all apologies. All apologies.

42:58Keyzie:320, Muse, plug in baby.

43:09310 T-Rex get it on

43:17Keyzie:301 fight no more epic

43:31You edited that, Jase.

43:34Keyzie:Kesey. What? You're a shocker, man. Come on, man. What? I'm just impressed that you edited that montage. It was really sad. Yeah, well, I know that sometimes people can't listen to the radio all day long. Yeah. So I just make them up every day. Toddy asked me, our boss, if I could just whip those together when I get in every day, and I said, sure, again. And how did you do it again? Pardon? How did you do it? Very well, obviously. You're not listening. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But what program did you use? What's that? Hey, now listen. That's the classic Audi J there. What was that? And then move on.

44:05I love it.

44:07Keyzie:A bit of sport chat next, fellas. Yep, sure, man. A bit of sporting action over the weekend. Sure. Absolutely. Also, meet PaddyNip69 after that, which is our advice segment. If you need advice on anything, meet PaddyNip69 at gmail.com. Get in touch. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Space Hog there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening. The time is 6.29. Let's talk Rugby Union. Crouch, touch, pause, engage. Rugby Union chat with Hoidi J. Well, no, with the fellas, we all watched the game, didn't we? We certainly did. And if you want some wah's chat, we had that earlier with Charlie Gubb.

44:48Listen to the podcast tonight when it comes out.

44:49Keyzie:Fellas, obviously it was a massive game. What a magnificent spectacle it was. Alice Park. Alice Park. It's sensational. It would be so intimidating playing there. The flyovers were great with the planes. The Haka was amazing. And it was full of the women's vigour that you would expect from a South Africa versus All Blacks Test match. It's been bloody good to have a proper tour back on the calendar for the first time in 30 years. Branded as rugby's greatest rivalry, and have to agree with that. But having those midweek games, the dirt trackers running around, playing the Bulls and the other sort of regional games It's been bloody good, but this was, you know, the main event.

45:30Yes, man. What are we going to get? You know, we've got a new coach, all of these sorts of things. What are we going to have? And it looked like we're going to get absolutely pumped. It did. I'll be honest with you. They were dominating us. They're absolutely huge bastards, making a lot of metres around the ruck. Our scrum was a complete shambles. And then they made the change in the second half, changed out the front row. There was a scrum there when we were on our own five-metre line. That's right. It was a spring box feed. We got a scrum penalty, ended up going up the other end of the field and getting a charge down try to old mate Holland, who's just an absolute giant.

46:06He's a beast of a man. He's a huge bastard. He is like a giant. He had two plays within five minutes where they made a breakaway. He made the tackle, got down, stole the ball, saved the day. I think it was a penalty or something. And then five minutes later, he had a charge down try. He's a freak.

46:23Keyzie:And you look at Lorde as well. Two sort of young locks. It's good stuff. It is. It's really good stuff. And I felt, you know, they were dominating our scrum. And then it was quite phenomenal how we changed it out and then started, you know, getting a bit of parity in the scrum again. That, from the second half onwards to the first sort of 15 minutes of the second half, I thought, oh, South Africa's going to absolutely cream us down. Yeah, right. They were dominant. but they just kept making little mistakes and desperate defence on our goal line. I mean, I felt like that we could have very easily lost that Test match for sure.

47:01It was a flattering scoreline. It was much closer than it looked. But then when you say, well, it was five tries to one. Yeah. I mean, that's a flogging.

47:08Keyzie:That is a flogging. It is a flogging. But I did see an interesting stat, and I'm going to butcher it, but it was something along the lines of the Springboks were in New Zealand's 22, 15 times and scored an average of 0.8 points per visit, whereas the All Blacks were in their 22 nine times and scored 3.8 points per visit. Yes. So just converting that field position into points. It sets it up for a hell of a series. I didn't realise that the fourth game is going to be played in summer in America. Yeah, Baltimore, I think it is. God, it's just bloody ridiculous. Throwing the game, fellas. Wow. Yeah.

47:47Keyzie:I'll tell you what the All Blacks were, though. and you know it's a sort of return to old form they were clinical when they had their opportunities they just got them done they did and can I say kudos to the referee great ref because could easily as they always do that's what drives me nuts is just the refereeing but old mate up in the box was trying to get involved and the referee continually said to him nah I'm happy with it nah it's fine and can I just say they're getting involved with shit that's got nothing to do with them keep your nose out of it talk about the TMO the TMO oh absolute nightmare so that was that made a huge difference to the game, I thought.

48:20Keyzie:It's going to be a cracking second test match because the Springboks will be fuming. They do not like being beaten at Alice Park. Especially Alice Park, where their record was like they'd won 10 times, but only won six or something. I love to see the crowd there. They were devastated, those South Africans. You know, those everyday sort of spectators. They had paid their hard-earned money to go along and watched their team get absolutely pumped. Absolutely love it. Good. They're taking on the Lions this Wednesday, 5 a.m., their next club game. And then the next game against South Africa is Sunday morning once again this coming weekend.

48:55So we've got All Blacks, Warriors, Hoi DJ, come dine with me Sunday.

48:59Keyzie:All right, it's all on on Sunday. Here's James Addiction. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

49:14Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for your Monday night In the podcast outro No, no, the disclaimer it's called now I keep forgetting that We chatted about our Wellington antics a little bit Didn't we fellas? Yeah, on the Friday after I left It sounded like you guys had a great time Here's a clip, comes out at 7.30 tonight I have to get the exact quote from him He'd know better than me But I said to him something along the lines of Jeez, Dilly, you're a shocking racist or something along those lines, which then made these old women really worried. And their heads are jerking around.

49:56And then Dilly's like, what? I've just been called a racist in public. And then me and Jase were just dying, dying laughing. That's so f***ing annoying. Absolutely crying with laughter.

50:12Keyzie:Oh, good times, eh? Fielder's good times. Poor Dilly, just the web guy. Just the web guy. He's very good at his job, Keezy. No, he's not just the web guy. Very good at his job. He's racist, though. Mogi, early night for you? No, well, I'm going to have Pop out, don't I? I'll probably get a little bit of Rayburgy. And then I've got a little bit of work. My wife's insisting we do a little bit of work tonight, so I've got to do that. Oh, that's fun, man. And then I'd quite like to watch some more Alone. Yeah, man. Yeah, nice. Ooh, Keezy, what are you up to? So I'll go home, have pork salad. God, that sounds good.

50:44It does, doesn't it? That sounds heinous.

50:47Keyzie:I'm just imagining big, fatty strips of pork. Yeah, I don't know what it is, to be honest. And then my wife will probably watch Outrageous Fortune. She'll go to bed early, and then I'm going online with my mates. Right. On the old PlayStation there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't wait. Bloody excited. Jase, what are you doing tonight, man? Jase? Jase, come on, man. Come on. I'm meeting my wife. Oh. Oh, my wife, my wife. Oh, my wife, my wife. Oh, doosh, doosh, doosh. Doosh, doosh. Oh, I'm Hoity J, my wife. Oh, can I watch the Warriors this weekend? No, you can't. Oh, please. Please, mate. I'm Hoity J.

51:30I've got a big honker. Etc, etc.

51:41Keyzie:I'm not going to ask her about the Warriors now. That'll show you, Keezy. Give it to my wife. You have something to eat, then go home and watch a bit of Tibet. Tibet? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, eating out. What are you vibing? Not telling you, man. Three burger. Certainly won't be a pork salad.

52:03Keyzie:Check out the Instagram. Check out the podcast. Till tomorrow. Goodbye. Bye. Thank you.
