In short

New Zealand radio comedy chat on The Hauraki Big Show (Feb 3, 2026). Segments include: government change to driver licensing (no practical test for full licence next year), stolen car news, Reburger food promos, “What’s on the dinner” listener texts, TV reviews (Sunny Nights; A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and a “sleeping in the city” simulation for host Jason Hoyte moving from West Auckland to central Auckland.

Guests

No external guests. Hosts are Jason Hoyte (Jase), Mike Minogue (Mike/Moggy), and Keezy (Keezy/Kesey).

Key claims

Driver licence practical test removed for full licence (restricted still has a practical); Jason says he won’t bother getting full licence; TVNZ+ Sunny Nights is uneven but Willie Mason’s role is standout; A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms improves after episode 1 if expectations are managed.

Notable examples

A sushi-shop awkward moment where a woman says her boyfriend is obsessed with the show and calls Mike “pretty hot”; listener “Dave from Taranaki” wins a Reburger voucher via “deepest fear” joke; Jason’s city-sleeping clips include street noise and a “help! I’m a shot!” scenario.

0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show.

0:12Keyzie:With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company this Tuesday afternoon. It is the 3rd of February 2026 and you my friends are always listening to The Big Show. Brought to you by Reburger. Burghier. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats, that will change the game. Yum.

0:35Jase:G'day, Moggy, you stallion. How's life? Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of a bitch. Jeez. Moist. Yeah. She's moist, fellas. Yeah, man. Not as moist as yesterday, but still pretty, pretty moist. Does it still feel a bit weird to you, Keezy, man? Not today. Yesterday was very weird in terms of the humidity. Yes. I assume that's what you're talking about. I am. But no, today's just cold. Is it cold? It is cold. What's that about?

1:00Keyzie:Well, that might be, Kesey, because you've got a swish new hairdo. Oh, yes. You're not so hairy today, so maybe you're just feeling the chill a little bit more. And can I say, it's a very smart... I was going to say smart. ...very sensible haircut.

1:15Jase:Yes. Thank you. That's what I was going for, smart and sensible. Yes. That's good. And you and Hoity Jisba are wearing pretty much matching shirts. No, we're not.

1:23Keyzie:Well, this is what I was saying. Like, Mogi, I was saying this last week, seriously, I feel like Keezy's beginning to copy my style. He wants to be you. He's got the same hairdo now. He's wearing the same kind of shirt. I feel like it's doing Hoity J's beautiful brand-new emerald shirt a disservice by saying my tatty old green shirt is similar.

1:44Jase:Well, obviously, you aspire to be as cool as, but I'm just saying there's starting to be some similarities. I agree. I concur, Mogi. I do not. Jase, how you going today, man? Yeah, good, thanks, Keezy. There you go, man. How good's that? Why do you ask? Because we're doing a radio show? I don't know. You all G, though? Yeah, no, I'm fine, thanks, man. You seem in a bit of an annoying mood today. He's got his arms folded over there. He just seems a bit defensive, doesn't he? He is.

2:13Keyzie:I seem in an annoying mood. You have been very annoying since you got here. Have I? Yes, you've been dissing chips and then eating all the chips. And then we're trying to film a video and he keeps wandering off. Yeah. What's that about? Classic. I thought we'd finish, that's all. No, you did not. You did not. Anyway, I'm excited for the show. I wonder what's coming up.

2:35Jase:What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi? Another absolutely monstrous day there, fellas. We've got some stolen car news. Oh, my God. The biggest, the most popular stolen cars in the country have been announced, and we'll be going through that list top to bottom. as we do every single year. It's exciting times to be alive. Jase, mate, you're moving into the city.

2:58Keyzie:I am, mate. Old pig in the city. Oh, jeez. Tomorrow morning, it's all happening.

3:01Jase:Yeah, there's plenty to talk about around that, man. All sorts of stuff to visit. Kesey, we're also going to have a little bit of a yarn to you about the fact that you're going to be talking to some broadcasting students. You jumped in the chat today, and apparently you're talking to some students. So I really want to get to the bottom of what you're talking to them about. Well, I guess it's going to be about how I made it thus far in broadcasting and the tricks of the trade. I think you were saying that you've done a keynote speech and you've got it all ready to go as a PowerPoint, and the title page says Keezy, the story thus far.

3:39That thus far, exactly, because my story's only just beginning, Mogi.

3:42Keyzie:Yeah, well, you know, ZM's just over there, Keezy. One day, Roger Fitz, one day. Fingers crossed, man. It cannot come quick enough. In the meantime, here's a bit of Oasis. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed, Coldplay there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.14. We've got some breaking news.

4:12Keyzie:This is breaking news. Dong. Is that a new thing? Don't say dong. I don't like it. But we can try it. Sure. Hey, fellas, breaking news. The government today confirmed they're going to be changing the sort of structure of the driver's license issuing system. Yes. Okay, so you no longer have to sit a practical test to get your full driver's license. Wow. So you do your learners.

4:45Jase:Yeah. You're then 12 months later. Learners is a written exam, Kesey. Yeah, learners is a multi-choice exam. Yes. You then wait, I believe it is 12 months if you're under 25, right? 12 months. You can shorten that down, I think, if you do an extra test or something. Then you get your restricted. However, if you've had your restricted for a wee while, then you just go and get your full. So there's no practical test at all? There's no practical. That's coming in next year. Right. You know, start of the year next year. But it does raise the question, Hoi Dijay. Yes. You've had your restricted licence for about 1 ,000 years.

5:20Yeah, yeah. I've got a full licence now, man. No, you haven't because you have to apply for it. Well, yeah. But, I mean, I don't have to do it practical. Does that mean you will go and get your full licence? Probably not. Seriously? I 100 % agree with you. This is what's very frustrating about Jason. He could now, it's never been easier to go and get his full licence. You're currently not allowed to drive after 10.

5:44Jase:I don't. Even if they came around to his house and handed it to him, he wouldn't get off the couch to answer the door. No. No, you're right. The only way is if the form was at the bottom of a bag of chips and his hand was in there. See, now you're talking, fellas. Now you're talking. It is interesting, isn't it? So you can be a driver on... Is this what we're saying? You can be a driver on New Zealand roads having never been behind the wheel of a car. Restricted, you do a practical. So there is a practical. Yeah, there's still a practical. So it's not a second practical. Yeah, yeah, great. Okay, cool.

6:15Jase:So I restricted you to do that. Great, great, great.

6:17Keyzie:Yeah, my youngest just recently got her licence, much to my disgust. Dismay. Dismay and disgust. Because there's this theory going around that they never let you pass on your first one of late, that they always kind of fail you on the first one and then the second or third you'll get it. And she nailed it the first time and I was filthy. Great. So you know your youngest. Yes. She's got the same licence as you. She does, and she tells me that every day, particularly when she wants to borrow the car. 100%. You don't have a leg to stand on. And she goes, well, you know, I've got the same license as you.

6:52Keyzie:What are you talking about? That's true. And so I go, my car, my rules. Such a dad answer. Yeah.

7:00Jase:But it's also, once you become a father, you see how all those dad rules hold such merit. They do hold merit. Yeah, they do. You know what I mean, Mikey? You see, from a completely different angle. Like there's water in the tap. I'm thirsty. I don't want water. I want something yum. Yeah, 100%. Or like have some fruit or something. Yeah.

7:16Keyzie:Have a banana, man. Yeah, go to the fruit bowls, another great parental sort of tip. But seriously though, Jase, in a year's time, you're going to be able to just sign up and get a full licence. Yes. You're not going to do it. In a year's time? Yeah. I know, 100%. Well, what are you banging on about, man? No, I'm just saying, you've got a year to just sort of get your S together, get your ass sorted. I've got a lot going on at the moment. No, you don't. Can you see? I'll see what happens, all right? There's a lot of water to go under the bridge. Yeah, there's a year's a long time, Casey. It certainly is.

7:47What if your daughter gets her full? She's officially better qualified than you to drive. Well, go her. And if you want to go out after 10pm, she'll have to go with you. She'll have to go with you. 3483, what do you think, New Zealand? Good rule change or silly?

8:05Jase:Yeah, let's see how people feel about this. I'll be interested to know. Here's she at. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

8:18Keyzie:Simple of the dog there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 26 minutes past four o 'clock. Now, hot on the heels of Keezy's story yesterday about when he was in Reberger over the weekend there, Mogi. Flirting. Flirting, and he said there were two smoking hot babes that... I was not flirting in Reberger. came up to him in Lululemon outfits, and he went into great detail about the Lululemon. This is not what this break is about. Well, it is. No, it's not. It is very much in context, Keezy. We'll see by the end. And then they started chatting to him, and he was like, here we go.

8:57Keyzie:But anyway, I went to my local sushi shop today. Now, before I get into the story, I want to tell you a little bit about this sushi shop. Now, I can't remember what it's called, but the woman that runs the place, makes the best sushi. What, in the world? Well, not in the world. Is this out near your house? It's out in Glen Eden. So you're telling me the best sushi in the world is in West Auckland? I know, who would guess it? No, she seriously does make amazing sushi. Was that old Barbara? Yeah, Barb. We've got this weird thing going on. I told you about a little altercation we had a little while back.

9:32Keyzie:No, nothing to do with buzzies, Moggy. Why did you say that out of nowhere? He didn't even say anything. Weird. And I was getting one of the pieces of sushi, and she had a go at me. Oh, did she? No, no, no, you've got to go from that one. And I said, I don't want that one, I want this one. And they were the same kind, but in different rows. I don't remember that. That kind of go. And she was really full on about it. And I went, okay, fine. And I was so pissed off about it, I went, I'm not going back there again. But then I was like, God, she makes really good sushi. So I went back, and every time I go in there, she gives me the evil eye.

10:05Keyzie:But anyway. Is this a strange encounter? The strange encounter is about to happen. Right, okay. So I went into the sushi shop, and lo and behold, there was, perchance, quite an attractive young lady there getting her sushi.

10:25Keyzie:And so I was standing next to her, you know, getting my sushi. Oh, God. What was she wearing? She was wearing just like office sort of gear. to be honest. Office gear. Office. You know, like she worked as a secretary or something like that. Why a secretary? Well, I don't know. I didn't ask her. Why not a CEO? Or a partner in the law firm. She could be a CEO of her own business. That's very generous of you.

10:53Jase:Jeez.

10:54Keyzie:Jeez, patronising. Anyway, she said to me, she looked at me and she went, Oh, hoity joey. And I went, hello.

11:08Keyzie:And Keezy's story was running through my mind. I'm going, here we go. But I swear to God, she said to me, my boyfriend is absolutely obsessed with your show. I don't really like listening to it, but he's obsessed with it. I've heard that sentence a million times. So have I. And I said to her, to be honest with you, that's pretty standard. There's not a beautiful woman I've met that likes what we do here. Yes. Yes. Including my wife. So I said to her, well, yeah, that's pretty standard. And then she said, and I kid you not, she said, Mike Minogue's pretty hot, though. And before I even thought about it, I went, you're telling me.

11:53Keyzie:And it just came out. You forgot you went on the show. I forgot. It just automatically came out. and then she just, she looked at me like really weirdly. And then she said, see, this is why I hate this show. No, she didn't. But then it was just like, we were both standing there and I was like, oh, do I own this? What do I do with that? But we didn't say anything after that and it was another minute, minute and a half of us getting our sushi and stuff of this really awkward silence and then she sort of gave me a little smile and walked out and I was like, oh, God. Gross. I wanted to say, now, look, you know, clearly that's jokes.

12:38Keyzie:That's jokes. But she obviously thought I was being serious because I was so vehement about it. Yeah, right. You know what I mean? It just came out. You're telling me. But there you go, Mogi. You got a fan. Well, I had one. Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Green Day there on the radio. Hodaki, big show this Tuesday afternoon. Before we get to the phone call here, Keezy, you and Pugs, all right, there's a lot of tension and angst going on between you two at the moment. Sexual. Well, I don't know, it might be sexual. You're just giving each other a lot of jip.

13:16No, it's just doing what mates do. Oh, OK. Just old mates, yeah. Yeah, I guess you wouldn't understand.

13:23Keyzie:Jeez. Hey, I think we played the Reburgers thing in that song, didn't we? Did we? I want Reburgers.

13:33Jase:Yum. Oh, it's a little bit offbeat. Yeah, yeah. I just like that. We did play the Reburger Sting. A reminder, if you hear this... Yum. During a song at any time, call us 0800-HAURAKI. You can get yourself a$50 Reburger voucher.

13:48Keyzie:How good, man. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Tom, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, Dave. Dave, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good, mate. Good. How's you, Horny Jay? Yeah, good. Thanks, man. Man, how's the knacky today, Dave? Oh, mate, it's a misery gut. Yeah. We're two holes. Sounds great.

14:10Jase:How's the weather been over the summer, big dog? It's normally a bit variable in the knacky. Listen, man, we've had some hot days, and now we're getting a bit rough. But, hey, the whole country's had it, so it's all good. Yeah, amen, brother. Good on you, Dave. Good on you, mate. Hey, Dave, just quickly, man, what do you do for a crust? Oh, I'm a dirty old mechanic. Oh, good on you, mate. Nothing wrong with that. Backbone.

14:33Keyzie:That's backbone stuff. Bloody backbone. Hey, Dave, man, what's for dinner? At the moment, it's fish and chips. Oh, yeah. Yeah, nothing wrong with that, mate. Nothing wrong with that. What's your go-to order, Dave? Sorry? What are you going to order? Oh, just bloody... It's actually power fritters. I love a power fritter. Yeah. Yeah, easy to get wrong though, man.

Read the full transcript

14:58Jase:Easy to get wrong, a power fritter. It is. It is. And I've stuffed it up before, Marky. Yeah, it happens, mate. What you sort of find at your local fish and chip shop is they sort of fill it out with a lot of crap and there's not a lot of power in there, man. Look, I'm pretty sure they set you up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, there's scumbag. There's a lot of sawdust in power. I don't know. There's some shocking bastards. Yeah, totally, man. Totally. Hey, Dave, good power fritter chat there, man. And how often do you floss?

15:30Jase:Never. Yeah, back bone. That's the one, man. Yeah, back bone. Oh, Dave, the mechanic with his breath reeking of power. Never flosses. False teeth, bro. False teeth, man. Back bone. Now we're talking. Hell yeah. Dave, what colour are your undies, man? Black with chair bro on the top. Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Yes. And, Dave, one last question, mate, before I give you that$50 Reburger voucher. What's your deepest fear? Not winning a Reburger voucher. Nice call, Dave. Yeah, same here, Dave, same here. All right, we'll pop you on hold, man, but congrats. You got that voucher, all right? Good on you, mate.

16:11Thanks, Dave.

16:12Keyzie:Just speaking of undies, fellas, I'm wearing my cookie time undies today. Oh, you got some yesterday? Yeah, they had some freebies there. Bloody comfortable, actually. Are they? First time you've had new undies in a couple of decades. Would that be right, mate? Yeah, about 25 years, Mogi. Really? And you went for the cookie undies? Yeah, and they're pink and orange and bright. What is your wife then? Really? She was like, hello. But she was talking to some other dude at the time. She was on the phone. Yeah, she was on the phone. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

16:44Keyzie:Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.49. Just want to clear something up really quick. Prior to those two excellent songs there, we had Dave from Taranaki call through. Yeah. A lot of people texting on 3483 asking if that was actually Des Dalgeti, our farming correspondent. Yes. Because he did sort of sound like him. No, it wasn't. No. That was just Dave from Taranaki. It was. Does sound very similar to Des Dalgeti, though. I get it. He does. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.

17:21Yes.

17:22Jase:Now, I have been watching a show called Sunny Nights. It's on TVNZ+. The series follows siblings Martin and Vicky Marvin, an American brother-sister duo who relocate to Sydney hoping to establish a spray tan business. I've seen the thumbnail for this, actually. Yeah, they find themselves entangled with all the wrong people trying to stay alive, out of jail and in the black. Wow. Doesn't that sound good? It's got Will Forte in it, who played MacGruber. That's right, yes. He's a very, very funny man. He was on Saturday Night Live for many, many years, Jason. Yes, I am. Very, very funny guy. But also, it has Rachel House, the New Zealander.

18:04Jase:Great, great actor. One of our best. Very good actor. And Willie Mason. Big Willie Mason. Big Willie Mason, the former Bulldogs player, rugby league commentator, etc. Oh, my God. He plays a henchman. and I'm prepared to say that he is the best thing in the show. Because he would be a good henchman. He's a very good actor. Really? He does a very, very good job. The show is not good. Right. It's fine, but it's just not, it doesn't really hit the heights that you want it to. Right. Yes. I'm about three or so episodes into it. I've kind of checked out on it, to be completely honest, but I do want to keep on going just to see old Big Willie ticking along with it.

18:43Jase:He could really make a move into the actor. I think you should watch a couple of episodes because I've been – I'm surprised that he was cast in the first instance, and then you're watching it and you're like, jeez, he's all good. So, I mean, Big Willie, I'm not really a fan of his punditry on the NRL. I think the term meathead springs to mind. Oh, hundies. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He shows a deeper emotional – deeper access to his emotions than I would have thought possible based on his public persona. Because when you say, oh, he's a henchman, I'm like, okay, cool. He's in a few scenes where he's just standing there looking tough, being a footy player.

19:14Jase:No, he is a key player. He's a former footy player who can no longer play, and he's now having to resort to a life of crime, which he's not particularly happy about. And he's got some mental issues that he's trying to work out. Yeah, wow. He's actually really good. And what's it called again? It's called Sunny Nights. It's on TVNZ Plus. Two and a half buzzies. Right, out of five. Out of a possible five buzzies.

19:37Keyzie:I started watching last night, fellas, Knights of the Seven Kingdoms. A Knight of the Seven Kingdom. Knights of the Seven Kingdoms. Or is it a knight? No, Knights of the Seven Kingdoms. I'm not sure. But anyway, it's an offshoot, as they say, of Game of Thrones. Yes, that's right. It's called a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Well, I've got Knights of the Seven Kingdoms on my one, but this may be my phone. Anywho, whenever you associate yourself in any way with Game of Thrones, you're doing yourself a huge disservice. Expectations. Expectations just go skyrocketing. people go, oh, this is crap.

20:14Jase:Or you get a lot of viewers. You'll get a lot of viewers. Ever since House of the Dragons, which I was massively let down by, I'm now just like, I'm not interested in anything unless it's Game of Thrones because I just know it won't live up to it.

20:26Keyzie:The story very quickly, a century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes, Wander Westeros, in an adaption of George R.R. Martin's novella The Hedge Knight, a young and naive but courageous knight, Sir Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire egg face a series of dangerous exploits. What I will say is the kid that plays Egg is fantastically good. Right. I watched the first episode and went, oh, for God's sake. This is crap. I hate it. Really? This is not good. There was a few scenes where they were pretty over the top with him excreting and stuff like that, where they were trying to be...

21:09They were being edgy because Game of Thrones was edgy. Edgy, you know, and gross. But they're just forcing it in there.

21:12Keyzie:But it was just unnecessary. Yeah. Then I watched the – I went, okay, I'll give it another episode because I like their genre.

21:19Jase:Yeah.

21:20Keyzie:And actually, the second episode was a lot better. A lot better.

21:23Jase:You should never judge, I don't think, a show on its first episode.

21:25Keyzie:Yeah, I think so.

21:26Jase:Yeah.

21:27Keyzie:And actually, I really started to enjoy it, and I think it has real potential. Real potential. I'm excited about it. I think there's three eps out so far. Yes, I think so. It's released Mondays. Yeah. So just be aware of your expectations, put them to the side and view it for its own self. Okay, I'm going to wait for you to watch the whole season, and if you say the season is good, then I will watch it. Okay. A Night of the Seven Kingdoms, how many buzzies out of five? At this point, I'll give it 3.2 buzzies. That's not bad for Jase. Pretty good. That's not bad for Jase. Not bad. There's the Black Keys.

22:01Pretty good.

22:08Weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

22:10Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday is going along very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburg Gear. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options are available. Reburg Gear are redefining the norm.

22:32Jase:Chase, you were saying off here that it's about time we've got some new ones of those because you're over them.

22:36Keyzie:Yeah, well, it's been a while, I feel like, since Pugs has created a new one. I feel like he's just gone off the boil a little bit. You know what I mean? He's just like, you know when you're... No, no, no. No, man, come on. No, no, nothing, man. Are you saying that Pugs doesn't care about the show anymore or has he lost Fizz for the making stings? A little bit of both. But you know what I mean? It's like, why am I putting all my hard yards into making these fantastic Reberg year stings? And he's just gone, oh, the fellas won't notice. I notice. I notice, man. Look, I was just grateful to have them in the first place.

23:17Jase:Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%. Mogey? Well, there was a really great one that came out the back of New Year's. I was devastated that we only got to hear that once. Yes. It was a really, really good one. Like a New Year's resolution? It was like a New Year. I don't know. I can't remember what it was. Yeah, it was. It was a New Year's resolution. sort of style. It's very, very good.

23:33Keyzie:Now I have to wait till next year for that. Got a bit of a bone to pick with you too on that front, actually, Keezy. Yeah, actually, Keezy. Have you got a bone to pick? Yes. I got a bone to pick! I mean, you're controlling the buttons there. You just keep playing all the really short ones all the time. I like the elongated, chatty ones. You just play that, yam! Nym, nym, nym, nym, nym, nym, nym, nym, nym, nym, nym. Not the really involved one. I don't know what's happened to you, man. I don't know, just because there's no fresh ones. Yeah, no, fair enough, man. If there's a fresh one, I'll play it.

24:05But if not, we'll just stick to the nice, clean-cut ones and not get bogged down and sort of sting admin.

24:10Keyzie:Yeah, okay. That's what I was thinking. Yeah. Yeah, we don't want to get bogged down and sting admin. Cheers.

24:23Sorry, that just went off accidentally. Yeah, yeah. No, seriously, I was trying to play the next song, and that fired off. Yeah, okay, yeah, sure.

24:30Keyzie:Do you want to throw to the next song, Jase? Bit of Hole?

24:38Seriously, something is wrong with this thing. I don't know with Pugs. Something's wrong with the buttons. Call the guy. Can you ring the guy? The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

24:54Keyzie:News there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. and the time is 15 minutes past 5 o 'clock in Fells. It's a big day for old Hoody J tomorrow. Yeah. My last night in West Auckland, sleeping out there in the wild, wild West Fells. And as you know, I'm moving into the city tomorrow. Pig in the city. And I'll be honest with you, I woke up at about 5.13 this morning covered in a very... No, not covered in that, Moggy. A thick layer of sweat? Yes. Genuinely, I was sweating like a bastard. Oh, were you? Sweating like a pig. And I was lying there in the bed, fretting, fretting, fretting, and I turned over to my wife, and she was already awake.

25:40Keyzie:What was she doing? Just lying there. And I said, how long have you been awake? And she went, oh, since about four. Yeah, right. Just fretting. And I've got to admit, it's... Was she sweating? She was sweating.

25:56Keyzie:It's been 26 years since I've moved. You know, and I've got to say this move is probing all of my anxieties. Right. I'm on the edge constantly of a complete panic attack. And so I'm following along with that kind of idea of what's the saying? Keep calm and carry on. Yeah. Because it's no good, is it, fellas, if Horty J loses his shit and starts, you know, having a hissy fit. Yeah, well, I think, Jase, actually you making this big change in your life is something maybe you wouldn't have done 10 years ago. You would have gone, no, too much stress. I'm just going to stay where I am. Yes. And now you're taking it front on.

26:33You're all grown up. It's time to go, fellas. It's time to go.

26:36Keyzie:It's time to move on. You know, and my wife and I in the last week, we've been, it's all under control. And then we got up this morning and we both had the same thought was, this isn't under control by any means. We're way out of our depth here. We haven't organised this properly at all. The movers are coming over tomorrow, Mogi. Yeah. and I need to know some stuff.

26:57Jase:Okay.

26:58Keyzie:Removing, because you've moved around a bit, and you were a mover yourself for a while.

27:02Jase:I was 2IC at a furniture removals company. When I say company, it was me and the guy that owned the truck. Yes. And I was 2IC because there was only two of us. Vice President. But after him, I was in charge. You were the boss. So I did that for three and a half years, and then I would say I have moved house over 50 times. Yes. Crazy. So you're an old hand at this. Yeah, I find zero stress in moving. Absolutely none whatsoever.

27:30Keyzie:Wow, okay, yeah. Because I'm pretty stressed. You're joking. Now, for example, tomorrow, when the movers come over with their truck, two burly fellas, I'm assuming. I'm assuming they're moving fellas.

27:43Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

27:44Keyzie:Do I help?

27:47Jase:This is a tricky one. because they come along and I've had lazy movers come over. Okay. They go really slowly and when they do that, then I do start helping. Okay. Because you're paying hourly. Well, I'm paying hourly. Let's go, man. Let's crack it. So I'll show them the speed and I'll say to them, come on, fellas, I've got to step it up a bit. Did you have a big night last night? That sort of stuff. And oftentimes they have. Yes. I can't tell you the number of times that I turned up to move house over in Sydney either hung over or still pissed. Irresponsibly. It's not a job that requires total mental acumen, but it does affect the pace that you work at when you're hungover.

28:26Jase:Yes. So, yes, I do help in that instance. Yeah. But if they're going good, you just leave them to it. I feel like you'd slow them down.

28:33Keyzie:Yeah, well, this is the thing. You know, like when a tradie comes over and he's doing his stuff and you want to do stuff as well to help them out, but what you're actually doing is just slowing them down. That's right.

28:42Jase:I guess the difference is I know what to move out there, whereas you will just be getting in the way.

28:47Keyzie:Yes, because I imagine they have a method. Yes, there's a method. You pack this and then this and then this. Yes. Like heavy stuff at the bottom. Is that? That's one of the laws that they go by.

28:57Jase:All of the heavy stuff at the back.

28:59Keyzie:Because that's actually important, heavy stuff at the back.

29:01Jase:Well, oftentimes what you find, Jase, is I'll load the boxes first. I'll create a wall of boxes by the cab of the truck. Yes. Then I'll put up the beds. Yes. And then I'll strap them in, you see, so that the beds will keep the boxes in place. Then all the furniture will go in after that. It's like a big Jenga sort of a thing.

29:17Keyzie:Yeah, that's what I reckon. Yeah, yeah.

29:19Jase:But no, you're better off just leaving it.

29:21Keyzie:Yeah, so maybe go out for a coffee or something like that. Oh, no, you've got to be there.

29:26Jase:Oh. Yeah, you've got to be there.

29:27Keyzie:Well, I mean, my wife will be there.

29:29Jase:Yeah. Yeah, well, it's good for her to have a couple of blokes around the house. It'll be nice for her to see that up close. But the other thing that I would say to them is as soon as they turn up, offer them water, cup of tea. You guys want a water, cup of tea, help yourselves, all that sort of thing. maybe beers a little bit later afterwards. The other thing, Jase, is you've got to tip. Okay. You have to tip furniture removal. Even if it's only 20 bucks each. Okay. It's the right thing to do. And make sure that they know that they can use the toilet. Although we did have a guy, I offered that to him, he didn't come out for 30 minutes.

30:01Jase:I think he fell asleep because he was so hungover.

30:04Keyzie:He dropped a bomb, you said. He destroyed it. You see, you wouldn't be able to move, Kesey, because you'd hate paying a tip. What? I thought you were going to make a joke about me dropping a bomb. I was not expecting a tipping job. Okay, that's good. All right. That was actually really what was concerning me. Well, there's another thing, Jase, you haven't thought about. We're going to get into that next, which is I don't think you're going to be able to sleep in the middle of the Auckland CBD. Yeah. Oh, yes. So I've got a sleeping simulation. We're going to run through that next, all right? Okay, man.

30:33Keyzie:Dismantled the bed today. I was proud of myself. Big wooden bastard. Four poster, eh? Four poster, yeah, man. Canopy. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Velvet Revolver there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this Tuesday evening. The time is 5.29. Hey, Jase, you're moving to the CBD of Auckland tomorrow, aren't you? Yes, my last night in West Auckland tonight, fellas. Bloody exciting stuff. You've been way out deep in the West Auckland wops for a long time now. I have, yeah. And you're moving to an apartment, seriously, like in the thick of the city.

31:09Keyzie:Yeah, right dead centre in the city pretty much. It's a city that never sleeps. So they say. Yeah. Yeah, the Big Apple. Yes. So one thing I'm not sure you've thought about is sleeping. You're so far out in the Waitakere Ranges there, up in the Ranges. There's no one around. Yeah. You've been sleeping like a baby for years, right? Yeah. Dead quiet. There's just the gentle call of the owl, to wit, to woo. Exactly. To wit, to woo. So I need you to get used to sleeping while there's noise happening. Right, okay. So Moggy's helped me and Pugs has as well. We've put together a few simulations of what it's going to be like trying to sleep whilst living in an apartment in the city.

31:50Keyzie:Okay, yeah, cool. So I'm in bed. You're in bed. All right, close your eyes. Turn the lights out. Yeah, lights out. I'm spooning my wife. Are you in the nude? Yeah, nude. Yeah. Okay, you are. Yeah, a bit sweaty there. Actually, I'm a bit turned on, actually. No, no, stop that. Oh, okay. Okay, you're trying to sleep and this is what it sounds like outside. All right, here we go.

32:09Jase:You ought to know, man. I don't know if she's the one, hey. Oh, mate, really? Yeah, I mean, she's, don't get me wrong, she's hot. She is hot. She's hot. She's hot. I just, I don't know if she's the one, but she'd be a good one. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean?

32:25Keyzie:So you won't hit cold bones. So they're like outside my wind, just down there, down on the street there. Yeah, okay. Was that annoying? Oh, I could probably get through that, I think. Okay. Initially, I might be, what the? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, well, that's good, because that's probably like a really entry-level, you know, You'd be lucky to get that. Just two dudes chatting. In reality, those dudes are both probably going to be steamed.

32:47Jase:Don't go home, man. The night's young. No, no, I've got to go. No, no, you'll be all right, man. I've got work tomorrow, man. Rose before hose. Why is it not so mean? Your missus is a hose.

33:04Jase:But she is. What?

33:17So will you be able to sleep with that, James?

33:24Keyzie:Well, once I stop laughing, you know, I'm so cheesy. Okay, well, that was, once again, once again, you'll be lucky if you get that. Yeah, okay. Oh, geez, yeah, okay. Interesting. The reality is, Jase, that this next clip, final clip, is probably the most accurate of all of them, all right? This is what it's going to sound like. So prepare to go to sleep while this is happening. Oh, somebody help! Oh, God! I'm a shot! Somebody help!

33:56Jase:I'm a shot! I'm so good, man! Are you okay, man? I'm a shot! Oh, God! Give me a look. No! You're not going to bite you. You're not going to bite you. No!

34:18So will you be able to sleep through that is my question.

34:23Keyzie:Oh, yeah, it'll be sweet as with that one. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Brave with your street food, freshly made with Reburger. And if I could just direct your attention to this next slide. you'll see that Rebarger is serving both good times and good food, and that's whether or not you dine in or take away Rebarger today. And if you just look at this next one, you'll see that it's yum! You see, I enjoy those ones, and it just reminds me of the 12th Man back in the day. That's right. It's very well made. It's very subtle.

36:33Keyzie:And the voicing of it is very, very good. Yeah, totally. I'm just waiting for a fresh one. Yes, that's right. That's why I hadn't played one of those longer Reburger stings in a while, James. Yeah, yeah. No, fair enough, mate. Fair enough. What are you having for dinner tonight? Well, this is the interesting thing. My wife's got theatre tonight. Theater. Theater. She's got a, what do they call it? Rehearsal. So it's up to me, really. Isn't it? The play she's doing, that doesn't start for another month or so, doesn't it? Yeah, it's in March. March, yeah. So she's already rehearsing, is that?

37:06Jase:Oh, you've got to get in there rehearsing there. Yeah, three times a week, mate. I've been going for two weeks. I'm thinking of the dress rehearsal, which is the last one you do, right? Yes, yeah. Sorry, I was thinking of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So what are you having for dinner? I don't know, maybe some re-burgers? Yeah, it's going to be takeaways, isn't it? I can't picture you at home cooking or anything.

37:24Keyzie:Well, also the other thing is, fellas, of course, we've packed up all our crap, all our plates and all that sort of stuff.

37:30Jase:You have to eat off the floor.

37:31Keyzie:I'm going to have to just get some stuff. Get Reburger. Yeah, we'll get some Reburger. No, you won't. That's a lie. He's not going to. Hey, speaking of food, text us now on 3483. What's on the dinner at your place tonight? We'll get into that next. That's right. Every text on 3483 with What's For Tea in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher.

38:02The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

38:06Keyzie:Soundgarden there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. But right now it's time for... Oh, yeah, hey, guys. Text here from Steve. What's on the tea with me dinner?

38:20Yeah, what's on the tea with me dinner? Which makes zero sense. It's a segment where you text through on 3483 what you're having for dinner. We read it out and then Jason might sort of like say stuff about it.

38:32Keyzie:Wax lyrical. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Check this one out there, fellas. This is from Rob. Oh. Schneider. Huh? Rob Penny. Penny. Penny.

38:45Jase:Coach of the Crusaders. Coach of the Crusaders. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's actually Rob Schneider. Oh, is it? G'day, fellas. Beef rendang tonight. The poor bugger because, of course, his wife's just divorced him.

38:54Keyzie:Yeah. Sad. Really? Yeah. But having said that, I love a good beef rendang.

39:00Jase:Oh, rendang will cheer him up. Beef rendang. If anyone has never had that before, Malaysian dish. Last year, I think it was last year or the year before, it was voted best international dish. Oh, really? It is delicious.

39:14Keyzie:Because I don't usually go your beef, but I'll go a beef rendang.

39:19Jase:Look, I'll be honest with you. I'll never go a beef ordering takeaways. Yes. Because I just cannot risk getting a mouthful of fat. You know what I mean? Yeah, foul. But homemade? Absolutely. Well, it's interesting because, you know, a laksa? My favorite laksa is with the slow-cooked beef brisket. Sure. Slow-pulled beef or whatever. It's amazing. And you just pull the fat off it. Yeah. I guess. I don't like the fat. I suck the fat. You chew the fat. It's good stuff, fellas. G'day. G'day, Keezy. Oh. Tony here. Tony, Tony, Tony has done it again. Do you remember that song? Tony Kesey. Tony Kesey.

40:02Tony Pepperoni. No, it's Tony Soprano. Oh. G'day, Kesey. Tonight we're having a bit of chicken chasseur. Chasseur? Chicken chasseur.

40:11Jase:What's that? It's a French dish. Right. Chasseur. C-H-A-S-S-E-U-R, I believe. E-U-R, yes, correct. Very, very popular dish in the 1980s. Right. that you'll find that in the Alison Holst Microwave Cookbook, 100%. Wow. Bit of a hot pot sort of a number, if I remember correctly, Jase. Yes, it's quite... Traditionally served with a bit of mashed bud, a couple of veggies and stuff like that.

40:34Keyzie:Quite rich, too. Yes. And when you say chicken chasseur, that's not the box of wine that you can get, which is a chasseur as well. Oh, really? Yeah, there's a chasseur wine. It might be a box of wine and a roast chook from the supermarket. Yeah, yeah. Well, there you go.

40:50Jase:So it's a French dish known in France as poulet chateau. It consists of fried chicken served hot with the sauce there, which is based with a mushroom, onion and or shallots, tomatoes and wine. Wow. There you go. That sounds good. Yes, I'd go that right now. I might have a chicken chateau tonight. G'day, fellas. Ashley here.

41:12Keyzie:Ashley? Rick Astley. Oh, Rick Astley. G'day, fellas. Rick Astley here. I'm having 200 fish for dinner in the form of a white bait fritter. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. Oh, damn it. I still don't get the white bait. You don't like that? I like it.

41:33Jase:I mean, you love your seafood.

41:35Keyzie:It's very bland that I've had.

41:38Jase:Yeah.

41:39Keyzie:It doesn't get me aroused. What about this one here, fellas, from Sean? Plunkett.

41:48Jase:Shawn Michaels Yeah, yeah, yeah Johnson Yeah, Shawn Michaels From the WWE G'day fellas My wife is making Mexican beef flaps Crispy taco shell stuffed Full of the best Mincemeat money can buy Generous helping of sour cream Delicious Real mouthful of cheers

42:13Keyzie:What was the topic Mexican beef flaps. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Gorillas there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Now, fellas, do you remember the music jury? Yeah. It was basically an opportunity for all our listeners to have their say on the music that we play here on Radio Hauraki. And there's been a bit of a change this year, it feels like to me. And I think, you know, we've opened up our ears to what the punters are saying about the music on Radio Hodaki and what they want to hear. 100%. For example, Gorillaz, Clint Eastwood, haven't heard that song on Hodaki for a wee while.

42:51No. Yeah, so they are listening and we are changing things. Mogi, are you enjoying the changes?

42:55Jase:I'm absolutely loving the tunes. I've been saying that to you, Keezy, since New Year's Eve. Oh, that's right. You called me on New Year's Eve. I gave you a call and said, are you listening to these tunes, man? And I was actually on holiday in the Coromandel at the time. I was actually at a concert. Yeah. And I was like, I don't really know. I'm not listening to the radio. But Keezy turned it on. Yeah, and then he made me go to my car and hop in the car and listen to Hodaki for like two hours.

43:15Keyzie:Yeah, it was great. We're listening to you bang on. I wish we were playing some tunes. That's the other thing too that you can do, actually, is talk about the hosts. Oh, yes. Say, I hate old Hoity J. Yes, that's good. Get rid of him. Yeah. The best way to do that is to text us on 3483 and tell us how much you hate Hoity J. That's the best, like if we're being honest here, Jase. Well, I mean, that's the most direct way of doing it, Kiji.

43:41Jase:I mean, we can't do anything about it. No. And the higher-ups won't care, but just so we know that you hate us. And that way it's a direct line. Hoity J will be across it and he will know. Yeah, yeah. That's the best way. You know, maybe we should start doing big polls and it should just be Keezy yes or no. Mogey yes or no. Hoity J yes or no. Yeah, yeah, that'll go down well. If you are keen to have your say on our music, though, text the word MUSIC to 3483. Take part. It takes about five minutes. You listen to snippets of songs and then they go, how much do you like this song out of 100? You just sort of move the slider there.

44:14Jase:You'd think you could do it out of 10. I guess so, yeah. Instead of 100. Or five buzies. Why don't they do the buzies scale? Yeah, 10 buzies probably. I don't know if five buzies are enough. No, true. Yeah, you're right there. Are five buzies enough, Jase? Well, if it's going to be a buzies scale, then they should stick to 100. 100 buzies, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Out of 100 buzies. So yeah, text MUSIC to 3483. Have your say in the music we play. And you could win a Yeti cooler worth$350 just for helping. Wow, a Yeti cooler. How good's that? And for tweaking the music on your favourite radio station.

44:47The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

44:53Keyzie:The cult there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening, fellas.

44:58Jase:Recently I went and visited my cousin.

45:02Keyzie:Yes, okay.

45:03Jase:And he's married. Okay, yes. A couple of kids. Yes, nice. They met overseas in the Middle East. And she's American. Okay. From America. Where's he? Is he from living? No, he's from, well, Auckland by way of, in the Hawke's Bay, et cetera, et cetera. But he's a scientist. Oh, wow. Dr. Mogi. Dr. Mogi. So everyone's very proud of him. Yes. Anyway, I hadn't seen them for a while. Went and visited them. and, you know, classic Kia Ora. I'm a hug guy. If I haven't seen somebody for a long time, I like a hug. Yeah, see, my instinct is always just handshake and wait if they go for the hug. But family. Do you know what I mean?

45:47I'm going to get it.

45:48Jase:So I go for a hug. I'll be honest, he's never liked that. Yes. He's never liked it. But I still do it. And while I'm hugging him, I'm thinking, he doesn't like this. He's very careful to keep his head away. Right, from your head. No? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is hard. I think he thinks I'm going to kiss him or something. I don't know what he thinks. Yes, I know what you mean. He wouldn't kiss him. Now his wife now there, I go for the hug and I go for the kiss on the cheek. I don't need to get any cheek necessarily. It's just a near the cheek thing.

46:18Keyzie:Even if it's just a cheek on cheek. Yeah, making the noise in her ear.

46:25Jase:Now, what happened was I go in for the hug. She's on board with the hug. Great, she's on board. She's on board. She's keen. She's climbed aboard. Now, then I go to kiss the cheek, but she moves her head in the opposite direction to my head and where my lips are coming from. Right. So she's not into it. But I've committed. I've committed to the kiss. Right. She keeps on moving her head away. Yes. She keeps moving it away. This all happens in the blink of an eye. Yes. Yeah, right. Yes. And is turning the head away all around. Like squirming out of your - Not squirming, just sort of like, and sort of ready to get on with your life post-hug.

47:06Jase:But I end up kissing - Don't say - Her neck. Her neck. But the hair is covering her neck, so I end up getting her hair in my mouth, and I'm kissing her neck. Now, obviously, she and I both know what's just happened. Yes. And it's a disgrace. Yeah. It's a black mark on our family name that she'll never be lived down. Yeah. What are the rules when it comes to this sort of thing? Do you just sort of stand back and just – from now on I just have to wave at her from across the room. Even that. I'm just like, hey.

47:40Keyzie:Hey. It is, in fairness, a very precarious thing because you're assuming that the person's doing the same thing you're doing. And like you say, she was obviously in for the hug, but she wasn't prepared for the kiss. No. And so she had already pulled out.

47:57Jase:Yeah, but she's a woman of a certain age. Yeah, well, that's right. She should be prepared for a kiss to come from family. Yeah. Not trying to kiss her on the mouth. Yes. Just besides. Yes. Now, I should have pulled out, but it was one of those things where she was doing what she was doing and I was doing what I was doing. You were committed. That's right. Yes. Yeah. What did her hair smell like? I don't remember, man. I wasn't breathing in. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's one of those things. Have you noticed that? You can't smell anything when your tongue's hanging out. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

48:27That's true. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

48:39Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. The Big Show done and dusted. Tuesday night. All over and done with. Do you know what? It still amazes me that whenever I talk about the podcast outro, I can never remember. And it's only three hours ago we did it. What the hell we were talking about? This clip here of today's one, which comes out at 7.30, is bad hair day. Oh, hair, that's right.

49:04Jase:He got given really hard, sharp lines and then went out for lunch with his mates and just got roasted. They've never forgotten. It was years ago. Yes. And they continue to drag him for it.

49:15Keyzie:It's funny how that happens, eh? Because it's a real look. It's a real look. It's a real, like, I want to be perfect looking. But it's amazing how you do sit there and just go, oh, what the f***? It took me decades before I spoke up. And then they're like, does it look good? You're like, yeah. And then they show you the back, and you're like, cool, the back's f***ing as well. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, haircut chat. That was haircut chat. That was the haircut special. Yes. Search Hodaki Big Show wherever you get your podcasts from if you want to hear more Big Show. Yeah, good stuff, Keezy. Hey, Moggy, what are you up to tonight?

49:47Jase:Well, I'll be walking home.

49:49Keyzie:Yes, good.

49:49Jase:Walking home of an evening, fellas there and there. The missus and old Grandma Sue there, they've gotten onto this TV show. They kicked me out of the lounge last night. They're still watching it. I didn't watch the first few eps. So they've got a season and a half left on the show. Old Mogi's got to go to his bedroom. That's bullshit. You mean sent to your room? Pretty much. I think that's bullshit. That's a disgrace. What's the TV show? It's on Apple TV, and it's about a wine-tasting human being. I can't remember the name. Sommelier. No, yeah, but that's not what it's called. I don't know what it's called.

50:23Jase:I don't know. I don't know. I'll end up watching it eventually. I can see why they kicked him out. That's rough, eh?

50:27Keyzie:Yeah, man, that's real rough. In my own house there. That's not good enough, man. Yeah, it's shocking. Keezy, what are you having for tea, man? Tonight we're having a larb. Oh, yes. With pork mince. A who? Larb with pork mince. What's a larb? And cabbage and rice. Isn't larb raw? I don't know. Yeah, well, yeah, lab is raw. I hope not.

50:51Jase:You don't want raw pork mints, Kees. That's no good. I don't know. That's not good at all. But we're having that, apparently. Then we're going to do a jigsaw puzzle. That better not be true. That is true. What do you mean it better not be true? We're doing jigsaw puzzles at the moment. Can you bring in a photo of the jigsaw puzzle? How is it? Ten pieces? A thousand, mogi. Yeah.

51:13Keyzie:Can my wife come over to your place? She'd love that. Sure. She does most nights anyway. Hey, you hear that?

51:19Jase:Key's just hooking into your missus. You hear that?
