In short
The Hauraki Big Show (Feb 20, 2026) builds up to Jase’s “Come Dine With Jase” dinner party competition, with judging categories (food, hosting/vibe, effort/ambition, atmosphere/setup, entertainment). The hosts also run the Friday Throbber music vote, a TV/streaming chat, a VIB Symphony festival giveaway, and a listener “AI check” call.
Guests/backgrounds
No special guests appear; the “guests” are the dinner party attendees: Jase (host), Mike Minogue, Keyzie/Keezy, plus their partners (named: Mogi, Pugs-san, and Hoity J). A caller named Jack (lawyer, Christchurch) and a winner Hamish (mechanic, Wellington) are featured.
Key claims
Jase hasn’t hosted a big group in ~15 years and is making only salad; his wife does most cooking. The dinner will be judged on everything, with seating shuffles and gratitude prompts. The VIB Symphony prize includes flights, SkyCity Hotel night, and VIP tickets.
Notable examples
Jase’s shopping disaster (missing basic ingredients like butter/biscuits); “steamer” toilet jokes; Throbber winner Metallica “Seek and Destroy”; Hamish wins Symphony package.

0:12Keyzie:With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. It's great to have your company on this glorious Friday afternoon. It is the 20th of February, 2026 and you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Rebeguet.
0:30Mike Minogue:Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options available. Rebeguet are redefining the norm.
0:39Keyzie:And I tell you what, just to paint a picture for the listeners out there, Mogi looking very sporty. Have you just come from the gym, Mogi? Yeah, that's right, Chase. Yeah, I'm loving the outfit, mate. Shorts, a really nice tight t-shirt. Yeah, I went over to the gym there and I had a little workout and then I've got to ride my bicycle home. Yes. You'll remember that my teet is having a few issues, so it's going to be push bike mogey for a little while yet, I'm afraid. But that's good. Gets the blood pumping, Keezy. You know what I'm saying, brother?
1:06Mike Minogue:Riding a bicycle. Riding a bicycle, man. It gets the blood pumping. That's good stuff. How are you going, Keezy? I'm really great. You are, right? I'm having an excellent day. Oh, that's good. Yep. I woke up at 6 a.m. this morning, which is early for me. 6 a.m. this morning? Yep, which is early for me. Usually, you know, I'm at 7.30 Yeah, you're a heavy sleeper Yeah, yeah, yeah You're a heavy sleeper But since then, I've just been ticking stuff off my to-do list I ticked off about eight things
1:34Keyzie:Right
1:35Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah And the ninth thing is do a top quality radio show Hey
1:38Keyzie:Yeah, totally, man That's on my agenda too, Gizzie
1:41Mike Minogue:How are you going, Jase?
1:42Keyzie:I woke up at quarter to five after going to bed at 1.30
1:45Mike Minogue:Oh, so way earlier than me
1:48Keyzie:And not only did I wake up at quarter to five I woke up with acute, terrible anxiety. Oh. Like, uh-oh, I better get out of bed and walk around the house anxiety.
1:59Mike Minogue:And what did that solve?
2:00Keyzie:Not for anything, nothing at all. It just got my energy sort of out that was stopping me from sleeping. Then I curled back into my lovely wife and just sort of dozed for an hour or so after that. Well, you should be anxious because you've got a massive, massive dinner party tonight.
2:18Mike Minogue:Oh, that's right. Yeah, that's what the anxiety was. No, I don't think it was, actually.
2:21Keyzie:I think I just woke up really early and I haven't had much sleep. But I tell you what, massive show ahead. On that front, Mogey, exactly what is coming up?
2:34What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogey? Well, it's Friday, baby. That means it's Throbber Day. Get it in, yeah. Also, keep your phones close to you. Keep them turned on. Make sure they're not in silent mode because we will. be calling the winner of the VIB Symphony Prize later on this afternoon. And coming up next, fellas, possibly, or certainly on the show today, we're going to be talking about the judging criteria for Jace's big dinner party this evening.
3:05Keyzie:What do you mean, judging criteria? I think we've probably got about 10 or 15 different categories that we'll be judging you on. Cleanliness of toilet, et cetera, et cetera. Oh, no, they're pretty good, the old bogs.
3:16Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. We're going to run like a come-dine-with-me situation, I think. Oh, are we? and will rate the entire evening, including your hosting abilities.
3:23Keyzie:Sure, man, that sounds really good.
3:25Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah.
3:26Keyzie:In the meantime, it's Blink 182.
3:29Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:33Keyzie:Highly suspect there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. Now, fellas, yeah, I've had a bit of a funny old day. My daughters came over from Australia. They're going to the – what's the gig going on at the moment? I always forget it.
3:48Mike Minogue:Colesplore. No. It's just called Splore. Splore.
3:51Keyzie:So they came over from Australia last night, and as you predicted, their flight was due to arrive at 10.20. They didn't get back to our place until about quarter to 12. Nice. So I stayed up, which was a really fatal move. They came back. We had a bit of chitty chat until about 1.30 in the morning, went to bed, woke up with acute anxiety at quarter to five, eventually got back to sleep. But then we all got up and went and had breakfast, which was very nice. Nice. My daughters were sort of fighting amongst themselves, a little bit concerned that they were going to be like that when they went to the gig.
4:25Keyzie:But that was all G. They worked it out. And it was one of those weird days because we have this meal tonight and all, you know, the backbones are coming over to have a meal at Hoity J's. And my wife and I were like, we better go and get these ingredients. And she was like, yeah, let's do that. Ingredients? Yeah, well, you know, we're cooking for you. We're not just getting takeaways, fellas. Are you sure, man? Well, I suggested takeaways, and my wife was like, no, we are not doing that. We are cooking a meal. And I went, oh, okay, okay. But the day sort of got away on us, and all of a sudden it was quarter to 12.
5:04Keyzie:And we were like... What, midnight? No, quarter to 12 just before midday, Kesey. Oh, lunchtime today. Yeah, today. And we're like, bloody hell. So we hooned to the supermarket. So many of the things that we needed they didn't have. What were some of the things? Oh, just sort of fancy sort of-ish ingredients. And can I say, I went to a - Flour. Yeah, like flour, like butter. We went to quite a flash place. You might be familiar with it, called farrows.
5:31Mike Minogue:Right.
5:32Keyzie:And the thing about farrows, great quality food, but the problem is even your basics like little biscuits and things like that or butter and so forth, they don't kind of really stock. Well, they do, but it's really fancy sort of stupidly priced butter.
5:47Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's right.
5:48Keyzie:And we basically had a mental breakdown in the middle of the supermarket. Neither of us knew what we were doing. We were both feeling really, really tired. Yeah. And you know what it's like where you just go, I don't know, man. Yeah.
6:00Mike Minogue:Honestly, and I'm sure Pugs and Mogi would agree with this, I mean, the original idea was always that we'd just get something from nearby and eat it. Yeah. And instead, you guys have decided to... But I think it should be that, Casey. I think it's spot on. I think it's a great thing to be doing. Yes. And the bigger the disaster, the happier I'll be. Yes. And I don't mean that in a mean way. I think that'll be funny. It'll be entertaining. We'll make do. And if it's really terrible, you know, we'll send you out, Jase, to go and get some takeaways, and that'll be absolutely fine. Yeah. But turning this into a competition, I think added pressure is what we need.
6:31Keyzie:Yes. Well, look, and funny you should say that because I kept saying to my wife today, look, it's very relaxed, darling. It's just the feels.
6:39Mike Minogue:Yeah. The fellas don't have a history of, you know, eating anything regardless of how nice it might be. bagging the ever-loving shit out of it on the radio. That's right. It's only if it is garbage that we bag it. Yeah, yeah, true. See, this is what I'm talking about right here. This stuff here. This is why we can't have a competition because there's no way you guys – let's say you came to my house and I hosted you. There's no way you'd give us a good score. I wouldn't be seen dead at your point.
7:00Keyzie:Now, you see, my assumption was too, and I've been slightly thrown, because I was thinking maybe you fellas would walk back with me after the show. And I thought, oh, that's good because I haven't picked up the beersies or wine sort of yet. You sound. And it was like, oh, well, that's okay. The fellas, I'll pick it up with the fellas. But now the fellas are coming later. Well, we're all going to come with our partners. That's the trouble. I'm not coming home with you. You sound woefully underprepared for this, Jase. You've had all day.
7:30Mike Minogue:You've had all week. You got up at 5am. You've had so long.
7:34Keyzie:So much time today. Yeah, I have had a lot of time. I should have done better. I can't wait. I'm really excited for it. Yeah, so am I. Yeah, I am too. It'll be great for you fellas to come over and just hang out and put some sport on the TV.
7:49Mike Minogue:Just quickly, just quickly, because we might be on different wavelengths here. What time are you anticipating it wrapping up?
7:57Keyzie:Well, I'm anticipating the show finishes at 7. You backbones will probably take a little while to tutu around, put on your best gears. Probably my house is like 7.30. Yeah. Right, yeah. And wrap up past eight. Yeah.
Read the full transcript
8:13Mike Minogue:That was my thinking. 45 minutes. Yeah, yeah. Well, that's... No, because I'm having a big one, man.
8:17Keyzie:Because, you know, my wife will get the meal out. You guys will hoe down.
8:22Mike Minogue:What about entree? What about dessert?
8:23Keyzie:Yeah, we don't have entrees. Actually, I didn't get any cheeses. Got to mark you down for that. Actually, that's what I was... I was hoping Pugs was going to buy some cheeses. Get a block of Tasty. Oh, we've got some Tasty. Jeez.
8:36Mike Minogue:I'll be marking you down for that.
8:38Keyzie:Got some Gorgonzilla, but that's going in the roasted potatoes.
8:43Mike Minogue:I hate potatoes. Here's Cage the Elephant.
8:48Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
8:54Keyzie:Super groove there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 24 minutes past four o 'clock.
9:01Mike Minogue:Tonight we've got dinner at Hoity J's house. He's hosting all of us a dinner party. And, Jase, you were saying in the podcast outro today, is it your first dinner party in about 15 years?
9:10Keyzie:Yes. When my daughters arrived back last night and we told them we were having the fellas over for dinner, they just cracked up.
9:16Mike Minogue:I can't believe you haven't hosted a dinner party in that long.
9:19Keyzie:Yeah, it's probably been about 15 years.
9:21Mike Minogue:Far out. Unreal.
9:22Keyzie:Oh, no, actually, it hasn't. But when I say dinner, we've had couples over quite a few times. Sure. Right, they're not a big group.
9:29Mike Minogue:Well, it's an exciting time. It wasn't really about eating then. Oh, hot. We've decided that we're going to make this a competition. Yes. Sort of come dine with me styles. I've gone back and I'm watching all the old come dine with me and I thought what a great opportunity. And Keezer, you actually came up with the idea to have a come dine with me style competition where we judge each other. Now there's a few categories involved here. We've got a few things to work out. We've really sprung this on, Jase, very much at the last minute. But good for you to know, Jase, that you will be judged on absolutely everything tonight.
10:01Mike Minogue:Okay, I'm going to write this stuff down. Number one, the food. Yes. Taste, portion size, did it match what was promised, that sort of thing. You know, ideally, Jase, you're going to have a starter, you're going to have a main, then we'll have the dessert. The other thing is, of course, the hosting skills. Okay. The vibe on arrival. Yes. You know, what kind of greeting.
10:26Keyzie:G'day, fellas. Great to see you. Welcome. Come in, come in. You know, is it going to be awkward silences? Is it going to be good banter? Are we never going to see you or your wife because you're... Always in the kitchen. You whisper a screaming at each other in the kitchen because you're buggering it up. Effort and ambition. Yes. You want to reward bravery if people are playing it really safe. You can't score them as highly. Degree of difficulty, I guess, with the Winter Olympics on, the degree of difficulty comes in.
10:55Mike Minogue:See, that's interesting because you could play it safe with the food and nail it all and just be all about the vibes. Yes. But then the food will bring you down. That's right. But only if somebody else takes a bigger swing and therefore risks buggering it up. The atmosphere and the set-up, Jase. What's the table sitting like?
11:13Keyzie:Well, this is one big issue that we have is the table. It's tiny and all the food's going to be on it, so it'll just be lappy.
11:23Mike Minogue:Lappy, so we're sitting down on the floor or something. Yeah.
11:26Keyzie:Just in terms of vibe, I'm also hoping, too, the locals are going to contribute to the vibe. Yeah. Out the window there. You guys can sit there and just entertain yourselves. It's a bit of a UFC event. Yes. Especially on a Friday night. There's also the music choice, James. Oh, no. What are we doing with the lighters? I was on a really good run with the music, and then when I was trying to find the throbber today, it threw me off the really good run of music I was on, and I don't know how to get it back. Wow. God, I look forward to this evening then. The entertainment value, because, of course, at every Come Dine With Me event, you have to have the element, the event, the entertainment element.
12:08Last night I was watching Come Dine With Me, a guy took his guests outside and he had a fireworks display. Now, of course, you'd be able to wheel out your keyboard and give us another read, but we've seen that shit. Yeah. So some of the people present might be impressed because they haven't seen it before, but it does raise the question of what are you going to do? Can I just say on that front, very confident.
12:29Keyzie:Got some great games for the team to play later in the evening when we're all a bit, you know, looser and more relaxed. Yeah. So those are the main five categories there. Oh, geez. Okay. Well, as you say, I mean, this has sprung on me literally now. And I, you know, and it's always hard being the first too. Because if it's a complete disaster, you guys will have the advantage of going, well let's make sure we don't do what Hoity J did there, there, there and there.
13:00Mike Minogue:Yeah, and so this is going to be interesting because I will at some point have a turn hosting everyone. My wife and I will host you guys and as I was saying while the songs were playing prior there's no way my wife's going to contribute to any of the cooking because she has been battered on the show anytime she makes anything. So she just won't. So I'm going to have to make everything. And you were saying off here that that greatly increases your chances of winning.
13:25Keyzie:Can I just say on the food front, Kesey, that my wife has been pretty battered over the years too. Yeah, but by you.
13:36Mike Minogue:Both of them are by you and Moji. And also if she doesn't make pasta, it'll be fine.
13:43Keyzie:I said to her today, actually, I said, I'm not just loading you up with too much stuff here, am I, darling? I mean, I feel like you've got everything on your plate. She's like, ah, no, it's all good. Can I ask you, Jase, what exactly is your role this evening? Oh, look, I'm making a salad. And then just chitty chat. How's your drink, Keezy? How's your spritzer there, Moogie? Oh, June. Doosh, doosh, ba-dee-ba-doosh, doosh.
14:08Mike Minogue:Right, I'm just marking the vibe down three out of ten. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki. Who wants three, Biggie?
14:27Keyzie:It's such a catchy little ditty, that one. I love it.
14:31Mike Minogue:Same here.
14:32Keyzie:Hey, every time you hear this in the middle of a song, give us a call on 0800-HODAK and you could win yourself a$50 Reeburger voucher. Jack did that. G'day, Jack, you mad bastard. How's life?
14:43Mike Minogue:Yeah, not too bad, mate. Yourself?
14:44Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good. What are the plans for your Friday night there, Jack? Cutting loose, are you? One, two beers cutting loose, and yes. Yeah, you're a batman.
14:54Mike Minogue:You're a massive backbone, Jack. Responsible. I like it, Jack. How's Christchurch today, mate? The sun's out for a change, so it's bloody beautiful. I reckon. Yeah, good summer, babe. Is it also blowing a gale as per? No, not quite. Windy Wellington levels, but she's a little bit brisk. Yeah, yeah, nice.
15:10Keyzie:Yeah, great stuff. Now, listen, Jack, we just have to confirm that you're not AI, so we're going to ask you a series of questions if you're okay with that.
15:18Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm happy with that.
15:19Keyzie:Okay, good stuff.
15:20Mike Minogue:All right, mate. First question, Jack, from Christchurch. What do you do for a crust? I do a bit of law. I'm a lawyer. Lawyer, okay. Nice, nice, nice. Okay. Objection! That's correct. Second question, Jack, the lawyer from Christchurch. What is for dinner tonight? Dinner tonight is steak, coleslaw, and chips in the air fryer. Oh, wow. That's good eating. That's bloody good eating.
15:43Keyzie:I've never put coleslaw in an air fryer.
15:46Mike Minogue:It's a different way to do it, but it's not a free try.
15:49Keyzie:Yeah, mate. There you go. Actually, that's just giving me an idea for tonight's meal, actually. We really haven't utilised the air fryer.
15:55Mike Minogue:Didn't he say put chips in the air fryer, not coleslaw? He said steak, chips, and coleslaw in the air fryer. Yeah, those guys are on top. All three? Yes. Yeah, why not? It's multi-purpose. Get it, innit? Mad bastard. I didn't know you needed to cook coleslaw. Next question. Jack from Christchurch. How often do you floss? The answer's not enough, but two or three times a week. Yeah, good.
16:19Keyzie:Okay, mate. That's good.
16:20Mike Minogue:More than me. Cool. What colour are your undies, Jack? Hold on.
16:25Keyzie:Black.
16:28Mike Minogue:Black?
16:29Keyzie:Yeah, black.
16:30Mike Minogue:Yeah, back bone. Cool, mate. And what's your deepest fear?
16:36Mike Minogue:Would it be made fun of on the radio? That's an AI answer, isn't it? Yeah, it wasn't, really. Yeah, it wasn't an AI. Yeah. Look, I'm not used to that fear of heights, but I don't know if I make it. There you go. Yeah, that'll do it. A mild fear of heights. All right, Jack, I'm just going to put your answers into the system, and hopefully it comes back as a positive reading.
16:58Mike Minogue:The computer says you're AI, man. What the hell is that about? Hold on. Let me just put the prompt in. Yeah, no, I don't know what that's all about. I've got bloody holes in my undies. Oh, okay. He says he's got holes in his undies. Hang on. Let me just adjust that. And yeah, okay. That's it. Hey, good on you, Jack.
17:16Keyzie:Stay on the line. Pugs will look after you and sort you out with that$50 Reburgu voucher. You know, and also I'm comforting myself with the fact, fellas, that if the meal's a complete disaster, we'll just pop off down the road and pick something up.
17:30Mike Minogue:What do you mean, we? I mean, we will. You and your wife will. Yeah, well, I mean. So you and your wife will leave us in the apartment and you'll go get Reburgu. Is that what's going to happen?
17:41Keyzie:Yeah, quite possibly. Yeah, good. You can't go wrong with Re. You see, we should have gone Reburgu.
17:45Mike Minogue:Yeah, absolutely.
17:46Keyzie:God damn it. Here's the killer. Shit.
17:50Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Guns.
17:57Keyzie:Roses there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is ten minutes to five o 'clock. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
18:13Oh, hell yeah. Oh, hell yeah. What's another episode of Small Town Scandal last night? Not too much to report on this one. A few funny, but not as good as the rest of them, to be honest with you. You have your ups and your downs, Keezy, but still a high recommend. Still four buzzies out of five, I give it. Which episode was that? Four? Episode four. The fourth of, I think, eight. I think eight potential episodes. I think I'm just going to not report on it anymore until I've watched the whole season. Yeah, okay, fair enough. I don't want to be watching episodes and saying that was a stink one.
18:49Keyzie:Well, I sat up last night waiting for my daughters to arrive from Australia. Very late it was, too. Listening to music mostly, just tunes. But then I went, oh, I'll watch a movie because this is taking forever.
19:02Mike Minogue:Hang on, sorry. So when you're just at home listening to tunes to pass the time, what are you doing?
19:08Keyzie:I'm just lying on the couch. And listening to music. Yeah. And then I'll eat something. Isn't that really boring? You're going through your phone or something. You're reading something, aren't you? Oh, sometimes I have a little look at something. I'll stand at the window and just stare out and listen to the tunes.
19:24Mike Minogue:For like three or four hours.
19:25Keyzie:Well, yeah. I just took her around the apartment. But I ended up watching an oldie that I saw from way back, Prometheus. Yeah. Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott. After a clue to mankind's origins is discovered, but explorers are sent to the darkest corner of the universe. Their different expectations take a toll on them when they find something unimaginable. Is it The Fass? Yes. Is it The Fass? Yes, The Fass. What's The Fass? Michael Fassbender. Ah. The Fass. The mogey doppelganger, as I like to call him. That's definitely not true. You know, and it's just one of those movies where you don't have, it's just entertaining.
20:02Keyzie:I like that movie. And it's fun to watch and you don't have to think too much. I'll give it 3.4 buzies.
20:09Mike Minogue:out of a possible five. When did that movie come out? Like in the 90s or something? 2012, I think. Oh, right, okay. Recent-ish, okay. It's part of the Alien set-up, isn't it? Yeah. If I remember correctly. Possibly. Yeah. Yeah, right, okay. We watched a show on Netflix called Drug Smugglers at 30 ,000 Feet, which is like a three-part doco, classic Netflix. They take way too long, telling you the backstory of every single person. and none of it actually really matters. I just want to know how they smuggled the cocaine and what happened. Yeah. Based on a true story, happened in 2012. These French pilots that were on a private aircraft, they stopped over in the Dominican Republic, I think it was, just to refuel and then move on, and they were set upon by the local drug enforcement agency.
20:58Mike Minogue:The two guys, the French guys just driving the plane, were like, we have no idea how the 26 suitcases full of cocaine got on this plane, even though we have one passenger. And so they had to spend a year and a half in this prison while it was under investigation. And it was the worst. I've like seeing the toilet and the stuff that was happening and what would happen at night while all the lights were out and stuff like that. I know what happens when the lights go out. Yeah. Horrific. Watched the first episode. It was fine. Didn't realise it was all in Spanish. So it was subtitles, but that was fine.
21:30Mike Minogue:Two episodes left. 2.8 buzzies out of five. Just another Netflix garbage doco. Yeah. I don't even know if I'll watch the next two episodes. That's the spirit, man. Yeah, yeah. I thought you would have watched the highly recommended episode of Night of the Seven Kingdoms. Well, the problem is I have to watch that on my own. Yes. And I really want to spend time with my wife, my life partner. So I thought I'd watch something with her instead.
21:54Keyzie:Hey, we could watch it tonight, Keezy. No. That's a good idea. At my place.
21:58Mike Minogue:We're not getting together to watch Game of Thrones, are we? That'd be great fun. I thought you'd watch it during the day when you're eating your lunch. That's when you've watched other episodes, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the thing I've noticed about that is I'm so focused on my lunch. I'm missing stuff.
22:13Keyzie:Okay, yeah.
22:14Mike Minogue:You know, so I just want to focus on the lunch. Well, hopefully you'll be like that for the dinner tonight.
22:18Keyzie:You'll be just – hopefully there'll be silence because you're all just tucking in.
22:22Mike Minogue:I'm just locked in on the food and then I'll lock in on your, like, entertainment and stuff, your vibes, yeah.
22:27Keyzie:Yeah, good stuff. Hey, you're Stone Temple Pilots.
22:33Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
22:42Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Douche, douche. Hey. I remembered, fellas, I remembered. Watch your chase back, baby. Hey, now, if you're wondering what is the Friday Throbber, we choose a tune every Friday to kick off your Friday night and sort of into the weekend. Then you decide, of the three, which one you like best by calling us on 0800 HODAKI. First of two wins, fellas.
23:09Mike Minogue:Sound about all good? Yeah, sound about all good to me.
23:11Keyzie:Sounds all G to me.
23:13Mike Minogue:Okay. I'm going to go first if that's right. You're going to go first? I'm going to go first, fellas. Jase is telling us off where he's going to be making some spicy dishes this evening, so this is dedicated to his toilet.
23:27I'm going to seek and destroy it, Jase. Your toilet. Gross.
23:39Mike Minogue:Bit of Metallica, fellas. I think my first ever Throbble win was with this song. Oh, really? Maybe. No, it was Rosanna by Toto. I take that back. Oh, that's a tune, brother. That's a tune. How good. Just confirming, we all agreed in the group chat that we weren't doing a theme today, right? Yeah, that's right. Yeah, yeah. Cool. Yeah, yeah.
23:56Keyzie:Why did you do Metallica as well, Keezy? He was worried because I think initially there'd been chat that the theme was going to be about your dinner party. Oh, right. But then just then I just made it about that, but it wasn't really about that. Yeah, yeah. It's just a tune.
24:09Mike Minogue:Because if it was, mine fits the bill anyway because the food is so good that I wouldn't be surprised if I faint afterwards. A bit of a look at that.
24:36Mike Minogue:That's a tune. There's a tune. Linkin Park there. Great stuff, Felix. What downbeat slop have you done with, Jase?
24:43Keyzie:It is quite downbeat. I haven't played Deftones forever. Audio Slave? Yeah, a bit of Audio Slave.
24:50Mike Minogue:Nah, I saw Pugs putting it in.
25:08June, great for this album.
25:10Keyzie:So you decide New Zealand. Give us a call right now on 0800 in the meantime.
25:16Mike Minogue:0800 Hauraki.
25:17Keyzie:Yeah, that's what I said.
25:17Mike Minogue:No, you said 0800 in the meantime.
25:19Keyzie:Oh, did I? The early morning's taking its toll on the phone. Here's the Arctic Monkeys.
25:25Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
25:33Keyzie:It's the Horehi Big Show's Friday Throbber. Douche, douche. Yeah, Keezy. Keezy. Hey, I said it. He's the dropper to douche. I said it.
25:46Mike Minogue:In your mind. You're a shocker, man. Do you know what I was doing there? I was watching Jase. Waiting for me to not do it. Yeah, I was watching Jase to see if he was going to do it, and then I forgot to do it. Yeah. Douche, douche. There you go.
25:56Keyzie:There's a lesson in that, Keezy. What is it? Just, you know. Ice in the front. Just take care of your own business, mate.
26:02Mike Minogue:Will do, fellas. Hey, what's the Friday Throbber I hear you ask? Oh, it's when we each pick a great song and you vote. Today's theme is there is no theme. Mogey, you chose Metallica. We haven't had Metallica for a while. Run it. On my way at it. Sick and Destroy. It's an absolute tune.
26:24The riff is all you need to know.
26:29Mike Minogue:What about you, Keezy, you mad dog? I do like Seek and Destroy Metallica. I chose Linkin Park, Faint. Let go, watching you. Turn your back like you always do. Face away and pretend that I'm not. But I'll be here because you're all that I've got. I can't say it's the way that you think about it. Don't turn your back on me. I won't be in your time. Jace wants that one played at his funeral.
26:53Keyzie:Yeah, man. Faint. I chose Shadow on the Sun by Audioslave. Do you see?
27:10That album's a ripper. That's from the debut album. If you haven't listened to it, treat yourself, because I think pretty much every single song is a banger. I concur.
27:19Mike Minogue:I used to have that album.
27:20Keyzie:Good tune. You've still got a man in the songs. G'day Jordan, you mad bastard. How's life?
27:27Mike Minogue:Yeah, pretty good. Yourself? Yeah, good thanks, mate. What are you running with there, Jordan? I was going to say Seek and Destroy, but I had to go for Feint. Feint? Oh, good on you, Jordan, mate. Good stuff.
27:38Keyzie:Good stuff. G'day Hayden, you mad bastard. How's life?
27:42Mike Minogue:Oh, it's great, fellas. Here you go. Yeah, good thanks, mate.
27:45Keyzie:Yeah, good thanks, mate. What are you running with there, Haydo?
27:47Mike Minogue:I'm going for Seek and Destroy, Hoardy Gizbos Toilet.
27:51Keyzie:Yeah, good on you, bro.
27:53Mike Minogue:That's the full name. People don't know that's the full album name of that track.
27:57Keyzie:Can I just say on the toilet front, because you's not the bedroom toilet. No, the bedroom toilet. I don't want you guys bombing my bedroom out.
28:05Mike Minogue:You's not the bedroom toilet. All right. Right, okay, sure, man.
28:08Keyzie:Let's go to Jack. G'day, Jack, you mad bastard. What are you running with there, mate?
28:14Mike Minogue:I'm going with, since Haughty J got robbed with Ladyhawk a few weeks ago, I'm going with Shadow and the Sun. Oh, wow. Good on you, mate. Three-way tie.
28:22Keyzie:It's been a while since we've had that, actually. A hundred percent.
28:26Mike Minogue:Okay, the decider. Do you want Seth or Charles? Good with Seth, though.
28:29Keyzie:Yeah, let's go, Seth. G'day, Seth, you mad bastard. How's life?
28:33Mike Minogue:Oh, bloody brilliant. And yourself? Yeah, good, mate. Good, mate.
28:36Keyzie:Well, the good news is, Seth, you get to decide what the throbber is this Friday. What are you running with, mate? Oh, crikey. Metallica! Yeah!
28:48Correct decision, Seth. Well done, brother. Yeah, man. We haven't had a Metallica winner for a long, long time. No, true.
28:55Mike Minogue:Don't forget, New Zealand, let us know. What do you think of the Friday Throbber winner? It is Metallica. Seek and destroy. Give us a text on 3483. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
29:08Keyzie:Yes, indeed. That's how we do's it. Seek and destroy Metallica there on your Friday afternoon. The time, 521.
29:16Mike Minogue:Just going to the Throbber scoreboards, fellas. Fowlers are in first place on two points. All of the Fowlers. Yay! Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. That means in last place on zero wins, Pugs-san.
29:28Keyzie:He's having a shock.
29:29Mike Minogue:He's having a shock. Absolute all-time shock.
29:32Keyzie:Seriously, I can't remember the last time he won one.
29:35Mike Minogue:And he's a DJ.
29:36Keyzie:And he's beginning to approach the Keezy run. He is. You know what I mean? What was it? It's been six weeks. 16 weeks. Oh, 14 weeks for him. Oh, 14, yeah.
29:43Mike Minogue:Hang on, that was also over summer when I was away. That doesn't count, does it, Fowlers?
29:47Keyzie:It all counts, Gizzi, it all counts. Well, there you go.
29:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, a few texts coming through on 3483. Absolute tune. Suck it, hoity jizz.
29:57Keyzie:Why would I suck it? That's true, though. You'd better suck it. Suck what? Why do I suck it?
30:01Mike Minogue:Probably a vape, knowing you. I'm just reading the text, by the way. Don't shoot the messenger, man. Yeah, I reckon. Terrible choice, Michael. Yeah, thanks, man. Well done on the thrower this week. Fjellas really pickled my cucumber. Cheers. It was a good thrower, I thought.
30:14Keyzie:That is a good thrower.
30:15Mike Minogue:I wanted all three of those songs to win. Actually, all three of them are good. Yeah. They're all good. Which is very rare.
30:19Keyzie:Speaking of cucumber, we've got some weird cucumber salad my wife is trying tonight with noodles. I'm not convinced about it at all.
30:26Mike Minogue:Actually, can we have a bit more Hoody J's Dinner Party chat after these next songs? Yeah. Because I just want to figure out the seating arrangements and who's sitting where. True. I think we should iron that out now.
30:36Keyzie:I told you, it's all lappies. You just sit on the buddy couch, you'll find a seat and you'll eat up and you'll shut up and then you'll get out.
30:44Mike Minogue:Okay, I guess we'll do some different content then.
30:48Keyzie:And I'm not having any more chat about steamers in my toilet either, Keeser.
30:51Mike Minogue:I'm going to do a steamer in your toilet. And I'm going to wait until midnight. I'm not leaving until after midnight. Is Jez going to be there, your cat?
30:59Keyzie:Yeah, Jez will be there. Great. What about the duck? Nah, the duck's in the park at the moment.
31:08Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keeser. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
31:14Keyzie:He is indeed live there on the radio. Hodaki, big show this Friday afternoon. Are you hitting the piss already, Pugs-san?
31:20Mike Minogue:Hello, what? Pugs is here, by the way. Ooh, it's Pugs-san. Are you, though? Need something to get me through it, fellas. That's a yes. We've got Hoity J's dinner party tonight, which, of course, is taking place at... The Jizz Palace.
31:40Mike Minogue:Just something I'm worried about, fellas. Well, not worried about. Just curious about seating arrangements because there's going to be eight of us, all four of us plus our partners. Yeah. Jase, you were saying you've got sort of two tables set up. Is that right? No. Yes, you said that you have like a – Oh, yes.
31:57Keyzie:Yeah, I suppose two tables set up. And what I was thinking was the fellas, i.e. Moogie, Pugson and Keezy, have one table and the ladies and Hoody J have the other. Because I'll be waxing lyrical tonight. Yeah, I'm keen for that. And so I can entertain the ladies while you fellas just have man chat.
32:22Mike Minogue:Sweet. What the hell's man chat? What are you going to talk to my wife about?
32:26Keyzie:Oh, well, you know, the stuff that we're both interested in, Keezy.
32:29Mike Minogue:I literally can't think of a single crossover.
32:33Keyzie:Cooking.
32:35Mike Minogue:Wow, that's sexist.
32:37Keyzie:Well, she loves cooking, doesn't she? But I thought that would be the best way to do it because it can get a bit political, you know, and it's like I don't want anyone to be in their safety sort of zones tonight. I want people to step outside their comfort zones and, you know, have to sit right next to the person they've come with. I'm a little bit worried because Jason and I were talking about this earlier in the week, and he said he's got a couple of plans around this. Number one, obviously sitting at separate tables is a bit silly. But he did say that every 10 minutes an alarm's going to go off and everybody has to get up and move and sit somewhere else.
33:09Right. So that's one of the things that's going to go on. The other thing is in between courses, everybody has to stand up and say something that they're grateful for. Now that's a bit of me.
33:21Mike Minogue:That is a bit of Pugson.
33:22Keyzie:Yeah. What do you mean courses? That implies that there's like courses.
33:29Mike Minogue:Well, there's not just going to be one. But, okay, I like the idea of the alarm, right? Because we'll be swapping around. Yeah, you like swapping. For example, like, you know, your lovely partner, Moggy. She's my wife. Your wife. No, I'm aware. I mean, you don't have to get all, you know, weird about it. Not partner, mate. Life partner. Your wife. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, I'd love to sit next to her and sort of get to know her better. You're welcome to. You're welcome to. Yeah. She finds you a bit odd. Yeah, but I'm sure if I sat next to her and sort of. No, that's what I mean because I want her to get to know the real you.
34:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:03Mike Minogue:So, yeah, so there you go. Pugson, likewise with your partner. I'd like to get to know her. Hey.
34:09Keyzie:Chilling.
34:10Mike Minogue:No, we're just mates.
34:11Keyzie:Does anyone want to sort of get to know my partner at all? Back sitting next to you. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. That makes sense. Okay.
34:19Mike Minogue:So on one table then. Yes. So maybe I'll sit with Mike's wife for a start on one table. Yes. And maybe Pugs, do you want to be on that table as well? With Mike's wife? With Mike's wife. Yeah, Kate. Mike, I don't know if you should be there. I think you should be on the other table. Yeah. Just because I think you'd be throwing me off a wee bit. I'm just trying to – I can understand, man. I mean, yeah, it's going to be a tough conversation for you, Keezy. And then Mike – Because my wife, outside of being stunningly beautiful, is highly intelligent, and I'm worried you're going to get left behind.
34:51You're going to have that look on your face that you get when you don't know what's going on.
34:56Mike Minogue:You mean this one that I've got right now? Yeah, that's it.
34:59Keyzie:So Mike and Mogi.
35:01Mike Minogue:Mike and Mogi.
35:02Keyzie:Mogi can sit with my wife. Because I'm actually thinking about the space. And you'll be in the kitchen. No, I won't be. And maybe your wife and me, Kesey, could sit on the poof.
35:18Keyzie:The poof.
35:19Mike Minogue:Like the ottoman. Yeah, yeah. It's quite a big one.
35:23Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right, okay. And we can just eat off our laps.
35:30Mike Minogue:Can I sit at the pub downstairs?
35:40Keyzie:I'm really worried about tonight, fellas.
35:43Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
35:48Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Everclear there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday night. Now, Symphony is coming up, fellas. It's March, isn't it, Keezy?
35:56Mike Minogue:That's right, Jase. March 21st at the Auckland Domain, brought to you by Manuka Fuel. It is a fantastic festival. I've been to it a few times. It was probably my favourite live music event last year.
36:07Keyzie:Yeah, I remember you and Pugs went to it.
36:08Mike Minogue:Yeah, we got stuck in. Yeah.
36:11Keyzie:There was a bit of controversy, I recall, because I don't know that you were in the correct allocated area.
36:17Mike Minogue:I was in the wrong VIP zone, because obviously I'm VIP.
36:20Keyzie:Yeah, well, obviously. You're a top radio DJ.
36:23Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm a VIP. But I was in the wrong zone for about four hours drinking a lot of responsible Diet 7-Ups. Right. And then they were like, hang on, you're not even supposed to get these. You were in the wrong area. I was like, oh, what?
36:35Keyzie:It's been a busy day, I suffer.
36:38Mike Minogue:I explained that it was a very busy day. It all got sorted out and the festival continued. But we've got an excellent package that we're giving away right now, fellas. Package. It is a VIB package to go to Symphony, the festival, happening March 21st. It includes flights from anywhere in New Zealand, thanks to Air New Zealand's Grab a Seat, a night at Sky City Hotel, and of course VIP tickets to Symphony. The winner, his name is Hamish.
37:03Keyzie:Should we give him a call? Yeah, man. That's actually a hell of a prize.
37:07Mike Minogue:It's an amazing prize. That's bloody great. He's down in Hamilton too, so. Oh, not Hamilton, sorry, Wellington. Wellington. Yeah, man. Oh, how good. All right, Jase, are you going to talk? Yeah, man. Shh. All right.
37:19Oh, sorry.
37:20Keyzie:Sorry. Hello Hamish speaking Yeah g'day Hamish It's old hoity Jay Mogey and Keezy from the big show How you going you mad bastard?
37:30Mike Minogue:Yeah not too bad, how are you?
37:32Keyzie:Yeah good thanks Mate you down in Welling there I understand? Yeah you're down in Welling, sunny Wellington today Oh how good eh Mogey Bloody beautiful down there is it man?
37:42Mike Minogue:It is, it is today Yeah man, did you get out for a nice swim? Maybe after work Yeah yeah Yeah, because is the poo's water still there, man? Oh, definitely, yeah. It's going to be there for months. I saw a cool article today, man. It was a guy there and he said raw sewage blew out of his toilet. He was thrilled.
38:03Keyzie:Is there a bit of a sort of reek going on in old Welly at the moment there, Hamish? Can you literally smell it? No, not where I am. Right, okay. Yeah, that's good.
38:13Mike Minogue:Not throughout the whole city. Okay, yeah, that's good. Oh, anyway, Hamish, we were just calling up to see how the smell was going, man, so I'll let you get back to it. Cheers, guys. Yeah.
38:21Keyzie:Hey, tell me, Hamish, what do you do for a cross, mate?
38:24Mike Minogue:I'm a mechanic. Oh, backbone. Backbone.
38:27Keyzie:Hey, how would you fancy a trip up to Auckland, stay at Sky City, come to Symphony and have sort of VIB tickets? How would that suit you, Hamish?
38:36Mike Minogue:Oh, that sounds bloody grouse. Yeah, well, good news for you, Hamish. You've won that prize, my friend. Oh, awesome. Yeah.
38:44Keyzie:Woo! That's how we do it. I'm going to go along to that this year. It's going to be great. No, you're not. Yeah, I, I, how much? Have you got tickets? No. You're not going. You're definitely not going. If you're not getting free tickets, you're not going. I thought it was one of those things you could just turn up to. No. Yeah, you can turn up. Right. And then you have to have a ticket.
39:01Mike Minogue:Oh, okay, yeah. But Hamish does have a ticket. He also gets free flights as well and a night at a hotel. Hamish, are you going to bring with you, mate? I'll bring my partner.
39:09Keyzie:Oh, how good. Nice.
39:10Mike Minogue:Yeah, nice. They will love that.
39:13Keyzie:You'll have so many brownie points, Hamish.
39:16Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's the plan. That's the plan. And then you're going to hammer it and you'll have a shock.
39:19Keyzie:Yeah.
39:20Mike Minogue:You'll lose them all. Hamish, you hold the line, brother, and old Pug-san will sort you out, all right? Congratulations. Yeah, thanks, guys. No worries, mate.
39:28Keyzie:How good.
39:29Mike Minogue:That's good.
39:30Keyzie:Going away with your partner overnight. Hotel, bit of lovemaking. Maybe a bit of a flutter.
39:37Mike Minogue:Maybe go to the Synthony Festival.
39:39Keyzie:Come down to Hoity J's, have a cold one.
39:42Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
39:46Keyzie:Foo Fighters there on the radio. How do you think? Big show this Friday afternoon. Now, we're talking in the podcast outro today, Moggy, about how your cat did a steamer on your bed. Yeah. It's how they show love. Well, it is one of the ways that they show affection.
40:02Mike Minogue:I thought they just sort of nuzzle against you. And pain on my bed as well, like it did also this very week, and I rubbed the wee on my face. You remember that? Yes.
40:11Keyzie:And there's nothing like the pungent odour of cat. I'll tell you what, There is something like the pungent odour of cat urine. It's the pungent taste of cat urine. What about cat poos? Haven't eaten one yet. It's only a matter of time. Yes.
40:25Mike Minogue:Because I'll probably have it tonight at Jason's house for dinner, knowing what he's serving up.
40:31Keyzie:I'm going to tell my wife you said that, Kesey. Ooh, you're in trouble. I said what he's serving up. As I say, I'm just in charge of one salad. It's beautiful. Which salad is it? It's a tomatoey salad, so just relax. I'm good. But I've always sort of struggled because, I mean, I don't like the idea of an animal shitting in my house anyway or weeing. What about in your bed? Not in my bed. That's only ever happened once, and that was because of a thunderstorm.
40:56Mike Minogue:Yeah, fair enough.
40:56Keyzie:And old Rue got freaked out and did a bit of a shart.
41:00Mike Minogue:So what are you talking about here, your cat?
41:02Keyzie:Yeah, the cat litter. Because we're in an apartment now, she usually just go outside, but now she can't do that. And I've always sort of struggled as to where to put the cat litter. You know what I mean? Because obviously you don't want it in your lounge or anything like that. But I'm also, I mean, there's nothing very pleasant about going for wheeze and seeing, you know, a cat litter sort of straight by your toilet bowl either. My father-in-law has it in his bath. Does he? Yes. What do you mean, in the bath? Yeah, the cat litter in the bath. So the cat has to jump into the bath? Do its thing in the litter and then jump out again.
41:37Yeah, I guess a bigger cat, that would be all right.
41:39Keyzie:And is there a container that the litter's in? Yeah, I mean, it's in a bath full of litter. It's in a container. Right. It's contained. But then again, you know, I don't like the idea of floaty cat excrement sort of attaching itself to the outer walls of the bath. You know what I mean? Ours is in our daughter's room. Oh, okay. Yeah. She wanted the cat so she can have the litter tray. Now, the other reason for that was when you first get a kitten, you have to keep them confined to one room, and there was no way that kitten was going to be allowed outside of my daughter's room. Yes. So that's what we've gone with.
42:11But we've had the realisation today, and I've been in a text chat with the wife about it, my feeling has been that you have to provide a second litter tray. Right. Because they're such picky little buggers that if there's a wee in one, then they want to go for a poo somewhere else, in this case on our bed. So we've just done a little bit of research. Some would say a little bit late. And the SPCA recommends you have two cat litter trays because some cats only like to wee in one and poo in another. Oh, really? Yeah, so we're just having that debate. Where are we going to put the second one? In the dining room?
42:44Is that where you put it?
42:45Keyzie:Yeah, well, you see, you can't. I mean, you guys don't want to be eating my wife's delicious meal tonight. Correct. And see a cat floater. You know what I mean? Sort of sitting in the lounge there. Totally.
42:56Mike Minogue:Well, I guess it depends how big your lounge is, right? Because if it's a massive room and it's just in the corner over there, that's not too big. Yeah.
43:01Keyzie:It is a big room and it's got high ceilings, but she does some real kesey steamers.
43:08Mike Minogue:Your wife does
43:09Keyzie:No my cat
43:10Mike Minogue:Do you have two toilets? Yes Is there one toilet that's for like number ones And one that's for number twos?
43:15Keyzie:No they're just for whatever you want to do at the time You say it because you don't go number twos in the one by your bedroom
43:21Mike Minogue:Is that the one that you're not allowed to go number twos in? Okay cool
43:24Keyzie:I still hold to that theory too actually I go for number twos in what I call the outer toilet How many jizz?
43:32Mike Minogue:Not the one in our room So can I use the one in your room? No All right, cat litter box it is then. The Hodaaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaaki.
43:46Keyzie:You're welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way, brought to you by Reburgeer.
43:55Mike Minogue:Craveworthy street food, freshly made with Reburgeer.
43:58Keyzie:Oh, yummy. Yeah. Yeah, man. How good.
44:02Mike Minogue:How are you feeling ahead of tonight, Jase? Nerves?
44:06Keyzie:I just feel tired now, thinking about the stuff I'm going to have to carry home. I feel like I'm going to have to carry this whole evening with your attitude the way that it is. I mean, I'll perk up before you guys arrive, obviously. I'm not going to be... I'm going to be hosty-hoody, Joe.
44:20Mike Minogue:I don't want you too perky, though. Oh, I'll be pert. No, I think you're too perky, though. No, I'll be pert. He won't be himself. If he's not complaining about something, I won't feel comfortable. Okay. You'll be putting on a front. I don't want a front.
44:33Keyzie:How about if my wife and I have a hur of an argument in the kitchen? Would that make you guys relax? If you could have a hur of an argument just before we walk in. Yes. Just before I walk in. So you can walk in. You sort of walk in and you're like, I like the apartment, but there's a vibe going on here.
44:51Mike Minogue:What is that? And you can feel that. Yes, you can. And then you guys have to park it until we leave. And then you're like, hey. And you're pretending that everything's all good.
45:00Keyzie:And then you're in the kitchen going, I told you. You stupid idiot. And then you guys are sitting on the couch, right? Oh, yeah. And I put a sort of tentative hand on my wife's waist and she just sort of flinches it off. Oh, yeah, she flinches, yeah. Yeah, and just has a really sort of angry look on her face.
45:17Mike Minogue:And then I sort of say, you guys all good? Yeah, and then Keezy says, you guys all good?
45:21Keyzie:Yeah.
45:22Mike Minogue:You guys are all good, eh? Yeah.
45:24Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. And then you do a steamer in my bedroom toilet. Yeah, I'm going to, Jess. Don't flush it.
45:29Mike Minogue:I am going to because you've been yarning about midnight steamers for so long. It's time to get revenge. And I'm going to use the toilet you're not allowed to do a steamer in.
45:36Keyzie:Well, I'm allowed to. I choose not to.
45:39Mike Minogue:You're not allowed.
45:41Keyzie:That's Keezy's toilet. Yeah, exactly.
45:43Mike Minogue:That's the Keezy's steamer toilet. Far out, man. I'm excited.
45:46Keyzie:Hey, now coming up very shortly.
45:48Mike Minogue:I might have a whole heap of dumplings.
45:50Keyzie:A bit of Olympic chat, fellas. Oh, yeah. Winter Olympics. How good.
45:55Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
45:59Keyzie:Queens of the Stone Age there on the radio. Hauraki, big show this Friday evening.
46:05Mike Minogue:What's happening in old Italy at the old Winter Olympics there with me, Kesey? Big things happening at the Winter Olympics, fellas. It's my job to keep you abreast of what's happening. How do you think you're going at that job out of interest? I think pretty good. Yeah. So what is it we're running with? We're going with weekly updates, is it? Just sort of every seven to ten days or just chuck this one in there? It's sort of just as... Is that what we're doing, Kesey? As needed. You know, Moggy? Well, it's needed every day, mate. These are our Olympians. There's a lot of taxpayer money gets put towards these athletes so that they can represent us on the bigger stage.
46:42Totally, man. And so for us to then dishonour what they're doing there by not even bothering to report on it daily when the people want to know.
46:50Mike Minogue:Well, I mean, there's just not been – basically, I look at what's happened overnight in Milan there, and then I say, oh, yes, it's worth doing the segment today. And one of our athletes won a medal two days ago. Where are you? Where are you? Oh, that was a busy show. They won a silver Zoe Sadowski-Sinnett. When? Yesterday.
47:07Keyzie:Well, what's the point of doing it today? It was the day before. Was it? Yes. The day before yesterday, Keezy. It's two days late. Added to that, I was watching the Winter Olympics in the studio here, and then you came and turned it off. Well, it's because you get distracted. You've got no Olympic spirit, Keezy.
47:21Mike Minogue:No, I made a segment. Pugs made a sting.
47:23Keyzie:It's all very well making a sting saying you're doing the Winter Olympics. but when you're two days late on the medal tally, that's piss poor, Keezy. That's bad radio. That's not good. How do you think Annalise Koberger would feel about this, Keezy? Keezy? She's a skier, right? She is a skier.
47:43Mike Minogue:She's on the snow, mate. Yeah, she's on the snow. New Zealand's very, very first... Oh, that's right. She's the first ever... Winter Olympics medalist. The first medalist from the Southern Hemisphere, Keezy. No, I'm aware. In fact, I call her Annalise Reberger. It's a little joke we have, me and her. But look, fellas, I dropped the ball yesterday or whenever it was. The day before. I'll give you a little update now, though. So we're sitting on three medals there. Luca Harrington, free ski slope style bronze. Zoe, of course, both the snowboard slope style and the snowboard big air, a couple of silvers.
48:22Mike Minogue:and then other than that, nothing additional to add from the past 24 hours.
48:26Keyzie:So basically your Olympic update was a update that was two days old and that's all you've got.
48:33Mike Minogue:Wow, I mean, if you're going to boil it down to just the... The facts. The bare bones. The cold hard facts. The bare... Yeah, pretty much, yeah.
48:42Keyzie:Let's just not bother with this anymore, eh, Keezy?
48:45Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Beat Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
48:50Keyzie:Oasis there on the radio. Hauraki, big show this Friday evening. Now, listen up. Keezy and I and the fellas from the breakfast show were at the Golf Warehouse yesterday, wasn't it? Yes. How was that, fellas? It was great stuff. I would have loved to have gone to that. I wasn't invited. Oh, there's nothing much they could do for your swing, Mogey. But they've got this amazing technological setup where they can deeply analyse your swing and fix up and recommend for you certain golf clubs that will suit your style of play. It was quite something, wasn't it, Keezy?
49:27Mike Minogue:Yeah, it was. It's called the Performance Lab, and we've actually got a video of us up there right now on Radio Hauraki on social media, either Facebook or Instagram. We're all collabed on the one video. But if you comment on it, you'd be in to win one of two$250 golf warehouse vouchers. It is interesting because basically what it does is it analyses your swing. There's a club with all these little baubles on it, heaps of cameras you swing about five times and then it gets a bit of a profile on how you swing with a driver and then they say cool so now we've got that data i can recommend that you have this sort of head on the club you need this stiffness of shaft uh blah blah blah blah they toot it around with it swapped the heads out gave me the club and i was worse it is an interesting thing they do isn't it because it's the only sport in the world where you can really adjust every single part about the equipment you use to atone for the fact that your athleticism is completely shocking.
50:23So your swing is an abomination, but let's adjust all the equipment that you're holding so that when you come through down on that backswing, we have corrected your horror show of a body, your horror coordination with the equipment that you're holding.
50:40Mike Minogue:I'd say it's like the twist at the end of the punch. You're doing 90 % of the slice, in my case, is done by me. And then they sort of toot-oed with it, changed the club, and managed to take a bit off that slice. But that's what I'm saying. I find it interesting. You would think that everybody would be handed the same equipment and then it's up to you to adjust your athleticism so that the equipment that you're using works for you. So you don't change the tool. You change the skill of the person that's using it.
51:10Keyzie:I know what you're saying. They actually ended up giving me a kid's driver. Yeah, I bet. As a bit of a joke, smashed it straight down the guts.
51:16Mike Minogue:Well, no, it wasn't a joke. They put all your data into the system, and that's what it recommended.
51:21Keyzie:Smashed it straight down the guts, Mo.
51:23Mike Minogue:Good on you, man. A little tight, knocked it out of the park.
51:26Keyzie:I look at Kesey's swing, for example. He looks a bloody good golfer, but the ball just does weird stuff. Yeah. Like, he's got a really good-looking swing, but the ball's just all over the place. Why is that, Kesey?
51:42Mike Minogue:Because I'm shit at golf. It's pretty damn simple, but it was bloody fun. I was only there for about half an hour, and most of that was watching Minaya slice it about 100 times, so I didn't get a proper go at it. As I said, he toasted with the club, changed a few things, and managed to slightly correct my slice that I was doing on the day. But if you are keen to get yourself along and get yourself a golf warehouse voucher as well, check out the video. It's up on our social media. and do a little comment and you could be in to win. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
52:12Keyzie:Living colour there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday night. Don't know if you've heard, but already Jase is having a time. It's every break speed about this. But it's exciting stuff. Is it? It's exciting stuff. Also what we're doing here is we're making it as similar as the Hauraki Big Show Come Dine With Me extravaganza. So tonight Jase is going to be judged by each of the couples of a score up to 10 for a possible combined score of up to 30. Yeah. Now, Jace has been complaining quite loudly in between the breaks there, off here as we like to say, about the fact that this has been sprung on in very, very late notice.
52:50And, you know, there's a case to be made for that. Some merit in it. But what I don't want to happen, Jace, is that you get scored tonight and then you go into everybody else's night. and this happens on Come Dine With Me, and then they go off, and once they've got this, then they try and ruin everybody else's night. So not only will they score really, really low regardless of the quality of the food, they'll actually try and bring down the evening by bringing out a whole bunch of racist, sexist chat, making everybody else uncomfortable. Isn't that what you're going to do anyway? In general, just ruining the vibe.
53:26But I just want to flag that. If you start doing that, we're going to call it out, man.
53:31Keyzie:Well, I just want to make this point. I'm not happy about going first on this situation either. Or you insist. And I will be very interested to see the marks and the scores and then we'll take it from there, fellas, in terms of when I come to your houses, dependent upon what kind of response I've been given from you. Let me just say that.
53:52Mike Minogue:But the thing is, Jase, let's just say, because you're making a tomato salad, right? Yes. What if it's shithouse?
53:58Keyzie:It won't be beautiful tomatoes.
54:00Mike Minogue:No, no, no, it'll be our number one best in the world. but if it is shithouse and then I say oh Jason's tomato salad to be honest it was shithouse and then you're going to take it out on me when I was just being honest you know this is exactly what I'm saying Jess I specifically said you can't do that and then you said well I'll just see how you score me and then we'll see how we go
54:16Keyzie:I'm just putting it out there I'm just putting it on the line fellas just be aware that what comes around goes around I think it's more that what goes around comes around yes yes
54:29Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki
54:39Keyzie:Well there you go you mad bastards That's a big show done and dusted this Friday And indeed for the week In the podcast outro today We talked about Mogi's terrible day from recollection
54:51Mike Minogue:Yeah that's right Here's a little clip about a gift
54:55Keyzie:Are you going to bring a bottle of wine tonight Pugs?
54:58Mike Minogue:I'll bring a bottle of wine drink
55:00Keyzie:You don't drink?
55:01Mike Minogue:You don't drink. Yeah, but no, for yourself. You bring it for everyone else that does drink. I'm not drinking. Bring a housewoman gift. Yeah, I'm bringing a housewoman gift. Bring a bottle of wine, Bugs. That you then suck down. Bring a bag of your c**. Bugs, bring a bottle of wine, man. Actually, do you guys do c**? Yeah. Oh, only when I'm sore. Sweet, man. I'm looking forward to tonight. It's going to be way better than I thought it was going to be. Come on, Jase, man. We're just joking around. Hey, Mogi, what are you doing tonight? Hoity J. Well, I've got to go home and make a late excuse for a dinner party that I've got tonight.
55:38I think I'll probably go with babysitter's cancel. Yeah, nice. That's a classic. Oh, my daughter's sick. Oh, got to do a bit of work. Got a bit of work. Oh, that's a tough one. Yeah, it's got to be, yeah, tougher than that. So, yeah, we'll see how we go. And then, yeah, I'll just be putting my feet up, watching a little bit of tally in there. You know what you should watch? Come dine with me. Come dine with me. Good idea. Yeah. Good idea. How about you, Keezy? What are you up to tonight? Hey, Keezy, what are you having for dinner tonight?
56:03Mike Minogue:I'm going around to my mate's house. I'm not going to lie, I'm going to get hammered. And I'm staying late. Yes.
56:10Keyzie:Well, I'm buying the piss on the way home, so I might just cut it back a little bit, actually.
56:14Mike Minogue:You do what you need to, man. I'll still find a way. Responsibly, of course, New Zealand. Yes, of course, of course. Hoity J, what are you doing tonight, man?
56:20Keyzie:Oh, just having a few of my pals over. And their lovely partners just going to hang out, have a little bite to eat.
56:28Mike Minogue:Yeah, well, I mean, surely you'd want to give your pals a decent bite to it.
56:32Keyzie:And a cold one and just chill out, relax and enjoy the local entertainment. But listen. Looking forward to that. Make sure you check out the podcast. Make sure also you check out the Instagram. Yes, Keezy.
56:43Mike Minogue:I was going to say also make sure you tune in for Monday's show where we will have audio reviews of Hoity J's hosting. Come dine with me style. Yes.
56:52Keyzie:Till then. See you later.
56:59Thank you.
