0:09Keyzie:Welcome, this is Big, to the Hauraki Big Show. Really Big. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company this Monday afternoon. It is the 23rd of February, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Reburger. It's really great. Yung-o. Speaking of yummy, get a mogy, your stallion and your tight white tea. How's life, man?
0:43Jase:I'm going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee, you double-breasted shirt-wearing sicko. Thanks, man. It's been a hell of a day, hell of a weekend. God, what a weekend that was, fellas. It was a big weekend, actually. It was a big weekend. Very, very big weekend. Very excited to be talking about our big dinner from Friday night. Stay tuned for that. Oh, my God. It was funny the amount of people that commented on the photo. Oh, wow, they actually did it. Yeah. Yeah, we had dinner to get up. Well, talking about it for years, probably.
1:14Keyzie:Well, actually, it's been a while since the fellas have gone out with their partners to eat somewhere. A year. Didn't we? It was a year. Yeah, yeah, the Comedy Fest last year. Oh, wow. Extraordinary, extraordinary stuff. You had a massive weekend, you were saying. And Keezy, a few red wines along the way. Good on you, Matt. Yeah, I had a big Friday night. Well, big by my standards, because after your dinner, myself, my beautiful wife, and Pug's partner, his partner, we stayed out for a number of hours. Yeah, okay. And then I left at what I thought was pretty damn late. But Pug's carried on for another four hours.
1:45Yeah. So he had a huge weekend, whereas I sort of had a middling weekend. Yeah, yeah, nice. It's great to be back, though, fellas. Oh, how good.
1:51Keyzie:It's great to have you back, Keezy. Nice to see you, man. It's so good to see you, man. Thanks, fellas. I'm also very excited to get into reviewing your dinner party, Jase. We all recorded audio on the way home from the event. We all took notes, took scores. Their first official Hauraki Big Show come dine with me. I can't wait. Yeah, great stuff, mate. Well, I had a very nice weekend. How was your weekend, man? It was very nice, actually. I had my girls arrive from Australia, then they buggered off to Splore and said it was amazing. Actually, if anyone went to Splore, text us, 3483. Tell us how it went because, by all accounts, it was extraordinary.
2:27Keyzie:My wife and I had the apartment to ourselves on the Saturday. We just did heaps of stuff. It was great. Sunday, they all arrived back exhausted and grumpy. But it was very good. But I tell you what, there is a massive show ahead, so make sure you stay tuned. And let's kick off with a bit of... Oh, wow. Got a big announcement, Jase. Oh, yeah, of course.
2:47Jase:You're absolutely right, really, Jase. The only thing that anybody cares about is the dinner party. And we will be getting into that next. But other than that, Jase, you went to the Pride Parade over the weekend, and we're going to get deep, deep, deep into how that went for you. Old Mogey went to a wedding. Oh, yeah. Then there'll be a little bit of Meat Patty Nips chat later on. And I am genuinely excited, fellas. We are going to be today giving away, and you've waited a long time for this, at least one$50 re-burger.
3:19Keyzie:Oh, how good. Now it's time for Radiohead. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Lincoln Park there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. Yes, we had the first come dine with me with the big show at Hoity J's new apartment. And so maybe it's appropriate, fellas, if we kick off with my own review of the evening. Well, the first dinner done and dusted and I've got to give full kudos to my wife, who was an absolute champion under pressure, basically. prepared all the meals and did so calmly and majestically. There was a bit of a fatal error for the dessert section where she got half and half cream instead of full cream, and thus we didn't quite have the whipped cream we wanted for her homemade cheesecake.
4:11Keyzie:But I think overall just an outstanding effort on that front. Obviously some issues. My musical taste was brought into question. We need a proper table. We've only got a little dinky-doo table, which, you know, doesn't really suit a dinner party. And one of our neighbours came up after half an hour complaining about the noise, which I've got to admit set me on edge a little bit for the rest of the evening as we have some very, very boisterous laughers in our group. Other than that, though, pretty happy with the night and looking forward to improving on the next one. Well, there you go, fellas.
4:47Keyzie:That was my sort of take on it thus far. And are you quite happy as you sit here now with how Friday night went? Look, in all seriousness, we haven't done one of those in like 15 years. You haven't hosted a dinner party in 15 years. Like we've had a couple over. We've had couples over, but we've never had more than a couple. You know, and I think that was true. I was thrown by our downstairs neighbour coming up and complaining about half an hour, especially when you're just moving into a new place. You don't want to create, you know, stress with your neighbours too early. That was at 7.50pm. Oh, 7.50, was it?
5:24So our show finished at 7, went home, got changed, arrived at your house, walked in. Approximately 10 minutes later, there was a complaint from the downstairs neighbour. That's right. It was amazing, really.
5:33Keyzie:Which my wife handled very well, I thought, actually. She was passively aggressive back to the lady. It was great. Look, I wrote down a few notes. Yes. Jase, you made a tomato salad. Yes. Which I thought was a pretty distasteful display of wealth because the heirloom tomatoes you purchased were close to$30 for one small plate of salad. $27. $27 it was. Yes. I don't need that shoved in my face. I don't need it shoved in my wallet either, to be honest. Cheese, crackers and grapes were a nice touch. All right, it's a shame that I had to bring those. I brought a bottle of wine round and we had to drink them out of tumblers because Jason didn't have any wine glasses.
6:13Jase:I got Jase to make me a coffee later on with a dessert, and I had some kind of a lime fizzy. When I finished that, there was no offer of a second one. Yeah. Jase obviously really liked those, and he wasn't wanting to part with another one. That was my mistake for not bringing what I was going to drink. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If I had another complaint, I mean, you always got to bring around something. You don't want to come empty-handed. So I brought around a box of Rose's chocolates and a bag of Papa Jack's. That's right, Chippies. Now, I don't know about you, Kesey, but it would have been polite for him to have opened those and offered them around to the group.
6:47Jase:I was waiting for that. Kept them all in their cellophane. In fact, I saw his wife put them into the pantry. Right. So they got locked away. Didn't get shared with the group at all.
6:56Keyzie:Can I just say on that front, Mogi, my daughters were delighted with the Papa Jacks last night. There was, and the thing with the tumblers that I mentioned earlier, wine out of a tumbler, very European, JC. Well, that was the vibe I was going for, Kesey. Okay. At one point, you had the lights very dim, and it started to be quite dark, but then it turns out the reason they were dim is because when you turn them up, they start strobing. Yeah, totally. So at one point, we were sitting there whilst a disco was happening, and the strobe light was on.
7:23Jase:Well, to be clear about what happened there, Jay showed that to me early on, and then turned it back. And then we were sitting down there. As you say, it got dark. So Jay's turned the strobing on, and everyone sort of reacted quite strongly because we're all sitting around having a chit-chat. And then he came and sat down, and everyone was laughing, saying what's going on. I said, you just leave it for a couple of minutes and it sorts itself. Oh, right. Okay, so we had to sit there while it strove.
7:45Keyzie:Can I just say, in answer to that particular situation, that was the situation when we moved into the apartment. Electrician's coming tomorrow at 11. Oh, well, it's a few days too late. One of my favourite parts was, obviously we won't get too deep into it, but Pugs made a very off-colour joke, which kind of soured the air.
8:04Jase:Oh, jeez. It was terrible. It was, you know, for all of you out there that no pokes aren't the type of guy he is, you know, Mr PC, he's a battler for equality, all those sorts of things. That one comment he made burns everything down that he's ever done in his life. If we said what he said, it would be over for pokes. Yes. Over. If we said it, we'd be sacked straight away.
8:27Keyzie:And can I just say on that front, in relation to that, my wife was concerned that was going to cost us points for the evening. It was that bad. We are going to play our reviews next. One last thing I'd like to just reference, if it's all good. It did wrap up quite early. Yes. So Mike said he was leaving. He said he was going to leave early. And then I was like, okay, cool, it's fine. Mike and his partner are going to leave. That's okay. And then you hugged my wife and said, all right, well, it's been nice. And so I was like, oh, so we're all leaving. And then my wife was like, oh, I thought we were going to sit around and finish our wines and stuff because I was still drinking it.
9:04And we were getting there. All right, nice to see you guys. Get out.
9:06Keyzie:Yeah. And your wife, Jase, also made comments. She said, now, I don't want any of those dishes to be full of food, the dishes on the table where we were serving ourselves from. Literally five seconds later, Jase walked around and collected everyone's plates up, so we couldn't have any seconds. Did I really? Yes. She made that joke, and then you collected all of our plates up. Look, I like things to be wrapped up at a reasonable – What time did we finish? About 10 to 10. Was it that late? Yes.
9:36Jase:See, that time flew, and I think that's a perfect length.
9:39Keyzie:Yes, I agree. And I was also, as I mentioned, I was very conscious of my neighbours. And Kesey had had eight to ten reds at that point. Three. But I did give you a dozen beers to take up. And this is the other thing. I came home thinking the fella's going to walk back with me, and I bought piss for everyone arriving. I also bought cheese and crackers and cold meat in a sudden panic, which I don't think ever came out to the sort of table. Yeah, I guess that's probably a shortcoming on your behalf. But then everyone turned up with their own piss and I was like, so I had a fridge full of piss that I didn't want.
10:17Keyzie:Poor Jase. Look, I had a great time, Jase, and we'll get into our reviews next, all right? Okay, mate. Our official reviews are recorded straight after. Here's Blink 182. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hauraki. Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is 4.27. We are just reviewing Hoity J's Dinner Party, the first ever Hauraki Big Show come dine with me. Jase, we've discussed at length various things that happened. We played the audio of you post-dinner party and how you thought things went. Yes.
10:52I have audio which I recorded straight after the meal on Friday night, quite late into the night, I'll admit. Mogi, you also recorded some audio and Pugs has as well. So should we have a listen to those?
11:03Jase:Let's blast them out. Yeah, man. All right. Well, we can start with mine. A few standouts for me tonight. The bang bang chicken was delicious. Very moist. The skin was delicious. Perfectly cooked. The potatoes with the blue cheese were delicious. And the meatballs were very succulent. Lucy, what did you enjoy? I loved the cheesecake. That has to be 10 out of 10 apparently. What was it? Hoity J? It was Hoity J's birthday cheesecake. And it was delicious. So well done to Hoity J's partner there. Yeah. And heaps of salad. So many salads on the table. I reckon we had about like five. Five salads. We had beans.
11:38We had tomatoes. We had cucumber. It was all good. Noodles as well. We had a leafy salad. There's a lot of salads. Almost too many salads, one might say. No. Yeah, honestly, Hoardy J, great spread. There were a few issues which I'll touch on during the show, no doubt. But out of ten buzzies, Lucy, what would you give it? Ten. No. No. Yes. No, f*** those guys. I'm so excited. No, don't. They always say your cake is dry. Give them an honest rating. Not 10 buzies out of 10. Come on.
12:08Jase:10. See, 10 really? Yes. I thought it was excellent. I really enjoyed it. So that's my wife there lying. Yeah, right. Well, what do you give it though? Because you have to add your two scores together and then halve it to give the actual score. Well, we have to do that after five, don't we? Yeah, it's after five. Is that actually how it's working? Well, if you don't agree that she's given a 10. But I thought I was just the one reviewing it. Oh, I think it should be. I've gone with the couple. Oh, right. Okay. So, Pugs, have you gone with the couple? No? Okay. All right. That's okay. We can work this out, though.
12:37That's all right. So my wife was, you know, she was very, she loved it. Good. She had a lovely evening. Let's see how Mike and his partner found it.
12:44Jase:Food was really good. Nice and relaxed. Mm-hmm. Conversation. How do you rate the conversation? Great. I do. I rate that as well. There were some great revelations. Yes. Some really big laughs. Big. And there, a couple of key ones. Really good chucking down the bus. Taking lots of notes for content. Yeah. Nice place. A little bit of folklore that came into it as well with the neighbour coming and knocking on the door. That was a nice touch. We met Jizz. And then Pugs gave himself one of the worst nicknames in the street. Only you came out unscathed. I did, I did. I come out unscathed and I'll be fuming.
13:36Keyzie:That's actually true. You were probably the only one that did come out unscathed. Oh, that's a surprise. That never happened. Everybody else showered themselves in shame. Yeah, there were a few revelations, weren't there, Fels?
13:50Jase:Yeah, there was some great, great stuff. Yeah, I've got a score fixed in my head, and I'll talk about that after five, how I've come to that. We've got Pugs' review here. Now, Pugs, just quickly, was this recorded at like 5 a.m. Saturday morning? No, it wasn't. Okay, all right. Here's Pugs' review. About the food. It was immaculate. There was a huge range of stuff, but all of it was cooked to perfection. There were no weak points. You as a vegetarian were looked after. Yeah, absolutely spoiled for choice, which is quite rare sometimes when you go for dinner and you have, you know, can't eat meat.
14:24My personal favorite was the shaved coconut salad. So delicious. just textually divine. Divine. And my favourite, the highlight was the Gorgonzola stuffed baked potatoes. I'd never had anything like that before. Absolutely loved it. I think the chat was generally pretty good. I was laughing a lot, for sure, for sure. And then what else? I mean, it was kind of, the entertainment was just the chat, really. Yeah, it was Horty J reenacting some interactions he's had in the building. That's right, with his new neighbours. It was the entertainment. Really, really... We got a tour. Oh, we got a tour of the place too.
14:59Great spot. Great to meet Jizz. Great to meet Jizz. Jizz was sweet. Jizz liked you. Jizz really took it. Really lovely night. I'll get into my constructive criticism and feedback and actual scores on the show. But thank you very much, Jason Hoyt, and your stunning, lovely partner.
15:14Jase:And Jizz. And Jizz. Jizz was all over, Pugs. Yeah. Just for those that don't know, Jizz is Haughty J's cat's name. I didn't get a tour. Oh, did you not? I got no tour, and I was a little bit disgruntled about it. It wasn't up to me to say, hey, where's my tour, because you should be invited to go on a tour. Oh, that's poor. Walked through the door. Keezy just said, we've just been on a tour, laid it out there for Jase to pick up on. Jase missed it completely. Jase took your popper jacks. And we were only allowed in the lounge.
15:43Keyzie:Can I just say too, actually, Mogi, very sharp looking in his suit there. and Pug-san, the most beautiful sky blue cashmere jersey, he looked like a sex pot and Keezy was just, oh, Keezy. I was just wearing a T-shirt. I didn't realise it was going to be that fancy, to be honest. But the official score's coming up after 5 o 'clock.
16:09Jase:And also, if you have got any questions about the evening, hit us up on 3483, anything you want to know, and we'll get into that later on as well. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Ho-Lucky. Who wants Re-Burger?
16:28Yum.
16:29Keyzie:Yes, indeed, your chance to win a$50 Re-Burger voucher. Compliments of Re-Burger. Wait, so the$50 Re-Burger voucher is compliments of Re-Burger? Yes. Re-Burger. Re-Burger. All you have to do is listen out if you hear this during a song. Yum. You call us on 0800 Ho-Lucky, that easy. I tell you who did do that is old Stu. G'day, Stu, you mad bastard. How's life? Life is good, mate. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks. Mate, how's Dunedin today?
Read the full transcript
16:56Jase:Bit blustery today. Oh, yes.
16:58Keyzie:Oh, got it. God, I'm not a big fan of the wind, Stu. No, me neither. I'm wearing a button shirt and it keeps blowing up. Oh, yeah, no good, no good. No good. Hey, Stu, I'll just run you through some questions, mate, just to double-check you're not AI, all right? Sure. And just a reminder, anyone listening to these questions are the same set questions for everyone that calls through. It's just things we have to do in this day and age, fellas, unfortunately. So first question, Stu from Dunedin. What do you do for a crust? I am a teacher's assistant. Oh, backbone.
17:32Jase:My wife did that for a long time, the old teacher assistant. What do you do there, man, if you're an assistant to a teacher? Do you get out the chalk in that?
17:42Keyzie:Oh, no, we try and work with the kids who need a little bit of extra help. Ah, nice. Yes. Good on you, Stu. Yes, indeed. Hey, Stu, what's for dinner tonight, mate? Ideally re-burger, but I think it'll be lasagna reheated.
17:56Jase:Right. I quite like a reheated lasagna. It's better on the second night. I agree. Hey, Stu, have you ever had lasagna and put it into a toasted sandwich? Yes. Bloody good, eh? Very good. Yeah, lasagna toasties, man. They're a go-to when I was a young fella. I've heard of a sandwich, but not a toasty. Toasty with a bit of sauce. Yeah. Underrated. Underrated.
18:17Keyzie:I could see that working, actually. It's delicious. Next question, Stu from Dunedin. How often do you floss? Never. Yeah, okay. Nice and honest. I like it. Stu from Dunedin, what colour are your undies?
18:29Jase:Black. Black. And what is your deepest fear? Ooh, deepest fear. I'm almost scared of sharks. They're all going in the water. Sharks down here. Yeah, sharks in the water are far worse than sharks out of the water. Yeah, I've noticed that. That's true. That's true. Sweet Stu, just chucking your answers into the machine here, just checking if you're AI. You're clean, mate. That$50 Reburger voucher is all yours. Beautiful. Thanks, fellas.
18:53Keyzie:Good on you, mate. Thank you, Stu. Pugs will sort you out. No worries at all. Be pretty brutal being taken by a shark, wouldn't it? Being taken would be terrible. Yeah. Attacked would be even. I prefer that to being attacked. Yeah. Would you, though?
19:08Jase:It's a bit of a humiliator, though.
19:10Keyzie:You're like swimming along there. And then it just pulls you down. Taken. Taken from the surface of the water. Oh, taken. Yeah, sorry. Oh, well, you think, oh, I see what you were saying. Did you know that sharks, right? Yeah. Like, especially great white sharks. Great white sharks. Oh, yeah. When they bite humans, most of the time it's just to be like, what is that? It's like a curiosity thing.
19:32Jase:What I love about that is that they think that they know that that's what they're doing. Do you know what I mean? No, the reason why they deduced that, I can't remember where I got this fact from, When a shark, a great white shark, takes out like a seal or something, it is like this huge, dangerous light, jumping out of the water, attack, smash. But whenever they bite humans, it's just them trying to see what the hell it is. Oh, how cute. Yeah, it's very cute.
19:55Keyzie:It's really, oh, just have a little nibble. Hey, did Jizz nibble on you all on Friday night? Because she does bite a bit.
20:01Jase:I was quite interested by that. Outside of Pugsan, a very skittish, anxious cat. I wonder why, actually. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
20:14Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the Black Keys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is 4.52. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
20:30Keyzie:Yeah.
20:32Jase:Hey, fellas, last week we watched, didn't we, JizzBot? you and I watched Night of the Seven Kingdoms which is on Neon it's an HBO movie it's a series it's a spin-off from Game of Thrones and it's about it's about a big old night there isn't it? it's good stuff it is good stuff anyway this episode was sort of in the tradition of those Game of Thrones series where the second to last episode has the biggest twist hey Keezy biggest moment yeah biggest moment and then the next episode sort of deals with the fallout of that and then you go into the following season. This episode, they're short, which is interesting.
21:12Jase:30 to 40 minutes. And I would put this episode up there with any episode from Game of Thrones. The battle sequence in it is some of the best battle sequences I've seen in any show. And I absolutely loved it. And apparently it's the highest ranking TV show in history on IMDb alongside an episode of Breaking Bad. Is that right? That's right. Oh, okay. That is right. Absolute gem of it. If you're worried about this being garbage, don't be. Get out there and watch it. It's a ripper. Yeah. What I'll say about this series, because you guys were waiting for me to watch it. I watched this episode last night.
21:49Yeah. Glass of wine in hand. This is about 10.30 p.m. Lights off. Big screen TV with 3D headphones on. Yeah. And I had them cranked up. Like some of the moments in there, I hadn't been that affected by a TV show since watching some of the big episodes of Game of Thrones. Yeah. And if you fell in love with Game of Thrones like 15 years ago when it first came out like I did, I was obsessed with it. Yes. This is a return to form and then some. That episode was, it's just, if you have any doubts, if you loved Game of Thrones, you have to watch A Night of the Seven Kingdom.
22:21Keyzie:I've got to admit, you know, when I first started talking about this series, the first episode I went, I'm not so sure about this. Same here. But then it very quickly grew on me. And, you know, I've done a bit of film and television in my time. fellas, the battle scenes that they capture are just majestic. And they capture the weight of the armour and the heaviness and the mud and the pain. It's just fantastic stuff. I love it as well. I'm only sad that it's the final episode tonight, is it? It is, yeah. Six episodes, yeah. Which sucks, but yeah. And all it's done is make me go, alright, great, now I'm going to watch Game of Thrones again.
23:00Even though I really hate the last two seasons of Game of Thrones.
23:03Keyzie:I still love the last two seasons of Game of Thrones. I wasn't like the other people out there that were going, oh, it's crap. It was crap.
23:09Jase:It wasn't great. For me, it was only the last couple of episodes where they seemed to time travel. That was slightly annoying. After spending hours setting up these very convoluted, and then they just fast-forwarded the ending and it just sucked, is my thought on it, Jase. But I give that episode five of A Night of the Seven Kingdoms, I give it as close to five buzzies out of five as I can give something. Yeah, I think so. Five. Yeah. Five? Okay, I'll go five buzzies out of five, just because it's reignited that old flame of how good that style of Game of Thrones TV show can be.
23:41Keyzie:Look, I'll go as far as to say 4.6 buzzies. And I'll go with 4.8. There's one series for me, and it's our old mate, Moggy. Yes, exactly. Mr. Mr. Inbetween. Mr. Inbetween. And there was one episode of that particular series that moved me deeply. Right, so that's still above this. That's still above that. I have to watch it. But it's right up there. Right up there. That's right. It's Night of the Seven Kingdoms. It's on neon at the moment. So if you've got neon, make sure you watch it now before they lose it mid-year. Yeah, good stuff. Treat yourself. Hey, after five o 'clock, the fellas give their scores for Dine With Me with Hoity J and his wife.
24:21Jase:Yeah, that's right.
24:22Keyzie:What else? Oh, Mogi, you went to a wedding. I did, mate. What are you going to regale us about? It's wedding season, brother. Yeah, it is really February. It's very popular. I got married in February. Fellas? That's so interesting. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Monday afternoon. You are, in fact, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburguer. Craveworthy street food, freshly made with Reburguer.
25:01Keyzie:Yeah, man. My only regret about Reeburg, you, is that I don't have an operation in the central city. There's one not far from you at all. Yeah, but it's just far enough for me to... No, I've been to it. It's pretty close to your house. It's just far enough. Casey! It's just far enough to be out of Hoity J's range. All right? You've got a range of about 400 metres, do you? Yeah, about 400 metres is about my lot. Fair enough, man. Actually, I didn't tell you fellas this. I did 65 kilometres of walking over the weekend. Wow, that's a lot. Yeah, man. And it's one of those things where there's so much going on, there's so many people around, you just don't notice it.
25:47Jase:You said you were marching up and down Ponsamy Road protesting the Pride Parade. You must have been fuming.
25:54Keyzie:Actually, something did happen on that front, which I'll talk about a little bit later on. Can't wait. Something a little bit inadvertent, fellas. But coming up next, I believe the fellas are going to give their scores for the first ever Come Dine With Me Big Show. Yep, the official score is going to be done for Come Dine With Me. Hoidi J, just finalising things here. How are you feeling? You nervous? Oh, you know, it is what it is. Nervous. I knew it. No, it is what it is, fellas. You're freaking out. But in the meantime, it's She-Hart. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
26:30Come dine with... The Feelers.
26:36Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the first ever official come dine with me with the Big Show. Hoardy J kicked us off, fellas, last Friday. And now the time has come for you all to give your personal scores for the evening. That's right. Pug San's here in the studio with us as well. Let's not forget. Ooh, it's Pug San. Hello. You look so good in that jersey, Pugs. Let's just keep it on track here, guys. You just look real good. How does it taste? Samogi, you are the come-dine-with-me expert.
27:08Jase:I am, yeah. So it's, look, we can go through all the details of how it's judged. You know, entertainment is one thing. The quality of the food, the quality of the hosting, is he present in the room? How is the conversation flowing? There's a bunch of different criteria. For myself there, fellas, we're going to have to do four of these in total. This is the first one. I need to be able to leave a little bit of room for the other two. I can't score too highly. Yeah, this is my concern about going first. For Jase, because what if I go really high and then I'm leaving nowhere for you guys to go? What if Jase is as far and away, as good as it was, far and away the worst of all of the evening?
27:50Jase:Which is likely. but then I have to score them equally. So I had a great night. The food was great. I was disappointed not to be taken for a tour. Yeah, I don't know what was going on there. Potluck. I mean, not potluck, but the buffet style, I actually liked that. There was lots of dishes available to you. There was no entree. Generally, you go entree, main, and then dessert. That didn't happen. So anyway, fellas, as a result of the fact that I need to leave some room on future ones, I will be scoring Jason and his wife an 8. Wow, hey, alright. I'll go next. So there were a myriad of things that factored into this.
28:31Can I first start by saying that the food all of it was excellent. I mean it would have been nice to taste some of the stuff that for example Mogi brought chips round actually sharing that would have been good. And chocolates. Also there were a couple of other things too like at one moment Mike's lovely partner was telling a hilarious anecdote and all I could hear was like a vacuum cleaner. This is how it sounded.
28:59So that's her telling a great story and all I could hear was a mixer or something? It was a mixer, yeah, to whip the half and half cream. Yes. Which is fine, but the cream whipped before we were there would have been a nice touch. Fair, fair. I was fuming with my wife about that. Totally, totally. Can I say conversation 10 out of 10, food 10 out of 10, it was these other little things being shown the door when I still had half a glass of wine left. That was a big factor for me. And also me having to bring bread and cheese and meats and stuff. With all that in mind, Jase, I have scored you a 6 out of 10.
29:36Keyzie:Ooh, okay. Whoa. Jeez. Jeez, okay. Duly noted, Keezy. No, no, no. Rude. Can I just say, 100 % factoring in what Mogi just said about we have to not score too highly. You know what I mean?
29:52Jase:Which is why I scored at an 8, Jase, because that means I've given Keezy room to be a 9 and Pugsarn room to be a 10. I don't know why he's gone so long. It's a 6. That's shocking. I've gone a 6. I hope you pay him back when the time is right.
30:04Keyzie:No, no. I'll judge it on its merits. Good, good. And can I also say, it was one of the best nights I've had this year. I thoroughly loved it. Oh, great. But this is purely like the hosting experience. Just above halfway. My turn? Yeah, it's your turn, Pugson. Hi, guys. Jase, the food was absolutely stunning. Beautiful range, and you really catered to my vegetarian partner, which I appreciated. Bonus points for that. I did not feel comfortable going up for seconds, and that's due to the company that I was with, but also because you immediately stole my plate off me. You cleared the plates. It was a real reminder of my childhood.
30:40Given that there was so much delicious food, I was also crestfallen to not get a doggy bag or a container or something, especially after that comment saying there better not be any empty plates. I thought, oh, maybe there'll be like a little container or something because there was so much food and I know that you eat nothing. I also noted that it took a lot of effort and ambition to do that many dishes. I did note the fact that it was all from one cookbook. Ottolini, yes. While it was immaculately done, I think a little more of your own creative spin could have meant for more ambition.
31:14Jase:And also Jase did none of it. And Jase did none of it. The food was amazing. That also factors into the environment as well. Tomato salad, thanks fellas. And I missed your wife deeply because she was so busy in the kitchen for so long. Moving on, the music stopped halfway at one point in the night. Yeah, I ran out of a batch on the phone. The strobe lights, not huge on eating off my knees there. but I know you haven't got a table yet although you did because that's where the food was. No wine glasses. No, I wanted the European chair with the tumblers. No, you didn't. And I also think you relied heavily on conversation rather than having an entertainment spin on the night.
31:51Okay. Do you know what I mean? And it was great. While it was 10 out of 10 chat Yes, it was. It was entirely reliant on us all chatting. So with that all in mind it was a beautiful night. It was lovely to be hosted by you. I'm giving you 8 out of 10.
32:06Keyzie:Thanks, Pugsan. It's pretty good, isn't it? Yeah, look, I'm a little bit hurt by Keezy's one.
32:14Jase:22 out of a possible 30, mate. Yes. We'll write that up here. I'll take that. Okay. Wait, so you got your feelings hurt because someone said something bad about food on the radio?
32:25Keyzie:Really? Well, thanks for that. No, but seriously, it was a pleasure having you. And, you know, I want to have it another try because, not because I thought that evening went badly, but, you know, it's been a while. Yeah. And that's the thing, you were first off the rank. Yes. So there's a lot of room for improvement here, and I hope I might be way worse than 22, but, you know, I'm striving for a top mark. That's the spirit, man. Yeah, totally. I had a ball, James. Good on you, mate. Here's Pluto. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon.
33:00Keyzie:The time is 5.26. Fellas, it's wedding season.
33:04Jase:It is. I just went to my second wedding in three weeks and my second wedding in about 10 years. Wow, that's interesting. Probably even more, actually. Yeah, I don't know what it is. If people aren't getting married, or if they are, they're not inviting me. But it was bloody beautiful. Out at Red Beach, which is up on the north of Auckland somewhere, hard to say where, about a 30 or 40-minute drive. She's a bit of a cruise. and at a surf life, well, the surf life-saving club up there. They are good. Overlooking the water, that's cool. Right on the beach, man, like right on the beach. Stunning views, absolutely unbelievable.
33:42Jase:I was talking to the groom there, Ben. He's a big fan of the show. He said it cost him$150 to rent the surf life-saving club. How good. $150, that's good, man. It's really, well, we spent quite a pretty penny on our wedding and he's good with a dollar. He's very, very good with a dollar. Spent$30 on the, what do you call it there, the food. He just had finger food, I think you call it there. So just like your savoury, little savoury mince pies, little potato top pies, sausage rolls and that sort of thing. From the frozen section or something? Well, no, he actually has a pie company. So they make pies and stuff.
34:20Jase:So he got it for an absolute bargain. The only thing it cost him for was getting the courier to send it out there. So really ran it on a very, very tight budget. budget. That's good. But the atmosphere was amazing, despite the fact that he's a bit of a tight bastard. Does he have to be this cheap? Look, I think it's part of the reason why his wife loves him. Right. Maybe not, let's not phrase it as cheap, maybe frugal. Oh, frugal's another way to put it, definitely, but they don't call him a frugal bastard. Tight ass is one. Cheap bastard. Yes. You know, that sort of stuff, it's all sort of in sort of good humour and a lot of that came out in the speeches, call him a tight bastard and a tight wad, et cetera, et cetera.
35:02Jase:Yeah, right. It's good stuff. But interestingly, during the speeches, the groom actually, he made a series of jokes. You know you want to be funny in your speech. So he made a joke and just, you know, complete silence. Oh, he bombed. Absolutely bombed it. Oh, wow. And then from the back of the Surf Life Club there, you hear somebody shouts out, backbone. See, that's funny. And that was lucky because that got the crowd back on the side again. Yeah, back on the track. Without a word of a lie, somebody shouted that out for him, which was, jeez, he was lucky. I got bailed up by quite a few people.
35:40Jase:Initially, nobody came and talked to me at all, but as the night went on and people got a few more beers under their belt, quite a lot of Big Show fans there. Yes. Coming up, hey, Maggie. I love what you're doing there. Oh, that's good. Positive stuff.
35:55Keyzie:Hey, Maggie. Is Keith's nips really that massive? I get that quite a lot. Are they really that massive, man?
36:06Jase:Me, me, me.
36:10Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a good one, all right, eh? Did anyone ask about my nips? Actually, the bride did. Yeah, the bride did. That's weird. Yeah, well, she'd sort of seen it come across the groom's social media there. She said, that can't be for real, can it? She said, that's crook. She said, that's disgusting. She said, hang on, I made a list here. You wrote it down, did you? That's the sickest thing I've ever seen in my life. Wow. That made me puke.
36:39Keyzie:But, but, Keezy, it did give them the inspiration for the savouries. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Kings of Leon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday. evening. The time is 5.48. Let's talk sport.
37:09Sport.
37:10Keyzie:Now, a bit of Super Rugby over the weekend. Crusaders pumped. Absolutely pumped by 50-odd to 20-odd. 50-24 by the Brumbies. By the Brumbies. I watched the Highlanders v the Chiefs. The Chiefs winning that, but But only just, and I've got to say this about the Highlanders, those backbones never give up. Like, they were out of it so many times. Their players, you know, yellow-carded. But they kept fighting. They just ran out of time at the end of the day. But they're a gutsy outfit. Gutsy. Force v Blues. I don't know what the result was there. Do you want me to read it out to you? There's no way to know.
37:47Yes, please. 42-32, the Blues won. Yes. Yeah, how good.
37:52Jase:And just a note on the ACT Brumbies here, I believe it's the first time they've beaten. the Crusaders in 26 years. Wow. Amazing, isn't it? Just quickly as well, we've got to touch on the A-League where the Wellington Phoenix went down to Auckland FC. Again. Five goals to nil. Auckland FC won by, which triggered the resignation of the coach of the Wellington Phoenix. They don't mess around, do they, in football? No, they don't. I'm off.
38:19Keyzie:Did you guys see the goal where the Auckland... Keeper buggered it up. Buggered it up. Yeah, they just hacked it downfield. the keeper was out of position and knew he couldn't grab it with his hands because he was out of the box, then tried to header it and then headed it into his own goal. It was something to behold. It was a debacle. It is a shame that the coach is leaving, though, because Giancarlo Italiano, best name in the sport. It's a good name, isn't it?
38:41Jase:I saw there was a former Phoenix player is linked with taking the rollover, but you'll have to Google it because I can't remember who it was. That's good stuff from old Mogi there. Chris Gino, Greenacre. Ah, there you go. He is a legend. Is that right, Chris Greenacre? How good. The Six Nations were on over the weekend. I know how everybody loves that. France is dominating at the top of the table with three wins from three games. They beat Italy 33-8. England lost to Ireland 42-21. And Wales lost to Scotland 26-23. Wales continue to be absolute garbage. That loss to go along with getting smashed 48-7 by Wales, by England in the first round, and then getting smashed 54-12 in the second round.
39:26Jase:It's going to be a long decade or so for Wales. France looking good.
39:30Keyzie:They've been struggling for quite some time now, Wales. They haven't got their crap together, that's for sure. Scotland and Ireland on the up. Just quickly, we'll touch on the Warriors. They had their second trial match of the pre-season. I personally, huge Warriors fan, I don't give a crap about the pre-season. No. The plays they're running, the players that they've got in positions, It's literally just about getting some Ks on the clock before the season starts.
39:52Jase:It means nothing. It means nothing. And what's really weird is now, it feels like this year is the first year, maybe it was last year a little bit, but definitely this year, people have really started watching the games and getting involved in it. It's like by the time you get to round 20, you are so over it and there's still seven rounds to go. It's like don't start at two rounds early as well. It just seems to be a great opportunity for the Warriors
40:15Keyzie:to have massive injuries before the season starts. Well, you say that, obviously the All-Stars game where Tamari Martin broke his leg, the only issue that the Wires actually had was Jackson Ford, who we are going to need because he plays a lot of minutes in the middle there. Yes. He'd hip-drop tackle, waiting on the sort of response from that. He could be gone for a week to start the season. And without Mitch Barnett to begin the season, likely with his injury. Is Mitch Barnett still out? Yeah.
40:41Jase:He's out for the first few rounds of the year. He'll be a massive plus to get back, bro. Yeah, but even, I think it's an ACL, was it, for Barney? It was. It was the same as him and Metcalf, I think. Yeah, and so even when he does come back. He'll be tentative. Yeah. Well, they don't bring them back unless they are ready to go. You don't piss around with one of those, but you wait and see, mate. He'll be gone.
41:00Keyzie:He'll be dedishing it, Keezy. Don't worry, man. I've got faith in the Warriors, man. They lost to the Dolphins, by the way, who are going to be a top eight team definitely this year, I think. Good stuff. Hey, there's T-Rex. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. T-Rex here on the Radio Hauraki big show this Monday evening. Coming up after 6 o 'clock, a bit of Meat Patty Nips. If you need advice, just email us on meatpattynips69 at gmail.com. That's right. And if we read it out on the show, you get yourself a prize just for getting involved. And also, and this has taken Mogie and I by surprise, it's really taken off a Winter Olympics update with Ol' Keezy.
41:43Keyzie:People are loving it, man.
41:44Jase:They are loving it. People, I'm getting, at that wedding that I went to, people just wanted to know, man, we've got to get some consistency around this Winter Olympics update because it's so good, Keezy. Is it? Yeah, man, it's really good. Wow, we've got a big one coming up after six, fellas. Big one. So you're in luck. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
42:08Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope your Monday night's going along very pleasantly indeed. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Serving good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway Reburger today. Oh, yummy. Yeah, man. Yeah, fellas. So good, man. What are you guys having for dinner tonight? Well, funnily enough, we might be having the meatballs from Friday, Keezy. Oh, really? Yes. I thought they were in the freezer. Yeah, but you take them out. Oh, do you? Yeah, yeah. And then what do you do with them? Then you just... You suck on it like an ice block. You just, you know, hook into them a little bit later on in the day.
42:47Are you going to heat them up in a pot or in the microwave?
42:49Keyzie:Probably in a pot. I don't like microwave filth. What's wrong with the microwave?
42:55Jase:It's just... As far as Jase is concerned, it's some kind of sorcery. It is. It's whack. Do you heat up everything in a saucepan?
43:04Keyzie:Yes. A saucepan. And I might... Oh, I'll tell you what I'll do, Kesey. The bread you bought. What was... No, do you want a bread? Yeah, yeah. I'll toast that up, slather it with butter, and maybe just put the meatballs on top of the bread. Can you bring my Papa Jack's back, man, and those roses chocolates? I told... Look, I was greatly appreciative, as was my wife of the roses. They're just not what they used to be. Oh, and now you're criticising them.
43:31Jase:Wouldn't know. It wasn't offered. Yeah, it's hard to know. They would have been great for after dinner, wouldn't they? 100%. You know, you have the cake there with that cream, which was a bit off. Yeah. And the coffee as well, which was good. And a little box of chockeys there that old Mogi's brought over, but nah, tucked away in the back of the pantry there. So when Mogi showed up with chippies and chocolates and you took them and put them straight into the pantry, did you just think, oh, he's given these to me to have later?
43:59Keyzie:I'm pretty sure that the Papa Jack's and Rose's chocolates were on our bench the entire time. Yeah, I know. Because they were still there yesterday. at no stage do I recall receiving said gifts from Mogi and immediately putting them in the pantry.
44:15Jase:I'll tell you what I don't remember is seeing them out for anyone to eat. Well, that's the thing, right? You're hosting a dinner party, Jase, and this was reflected in my score. I see chips on the bench. I can't walk over and open them and put them in a bowl. It's not your place. It's not my dinner party.
44:28Keyzie:Just for those of you joining us, by the way, we had the official marking after 5 o 'clock. Got a very generous and kind 8 from Mogi, a very generous and kind 8 from Pugsun and a rather brutal 6 from Keezy. And I believe your wife wasn't happy with that score. My wife messaged me and said, oh my God, a 6 out of 10, that is so horrible. She's clearly forgetting all the things you guys... She'd also given it a 10. She had given it a 10, but you could serve slop to her and she would say it was a 10 out of 10.
44:56Jase:Well, that's Pugs' plan. That's the problem. You've got to take her out of the system, take her out of the equation, I should say. Put her in the system of a down. Take her out of the system of a down. Yeah.
45:07Keyzie:How good, fellas. Chopped suey. You should have served that.
45:10Jase:Yeah, why don't you serve chopped suey?
45:11Keyzie:Along with a pop of Jackson roses.
45:13Jase:You keep it in the fridge for yourself, you guys. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
45:22Keyzie:Red. Hot. Chilli peppers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday night. Now the people have been asking for it, and now they're going to get it. What's happening in old Italy? At the old Winter Olympics there with me, Kesey Fellas, I didn't realise there was going to be such a response from the audience for this segment Huge, man You know, when I first thought of it it was more of a, hey, we should probably update the Winter Olympics but based on what you guys have told me people have really been hanging out for it and using it as their go-to source of info on the Winter Olympics It's going off
45:57Jase:There's been an avalanche of medals for New Zealand
45:59Keyzie:Can I just say I used to get Pested all the time On the street And stuff From a Cook the man Some eggs Statement Now it's Hey when's Kesey Doing the next Winter Olympics update And it's a relief Yeah right People have moved on To the next big thing Yeah Well obviously The Winter Olympics update Has a shelf life You know It's not something We can just keep doing Forever Well I was thinking Once the Winter Olympics finish Perhaps you could go the Winter Olympics in history.
46:33Jase:Well, of course, there's the Paralympics that have come, Kesey. Oh, of course, yes. Are you not doing that? I just assumed you were. Of course he is. Come on, Kesey, man. What? Of course, I'm going to be across how New Zealand does in the Paralympics. Yeah. The Winter Paralympics. Yeah, but you've got to make it a segment, though. Pugs is giving me eyes like I've said something wrong here and I have no idea why. No, he's about to. Yeah, right, OK. Just an update on the Winter Olympics. Fellas, no updates. Since Friday there, nothing news. Can we get a summary of where we're at? What do you mean a summary?
47:09A medal summary. A medal tally. Yeah. We've got three medals still. Old Zoe Sadowski-Sennett, two of them. And Luka Harrington with the bronze there. So three medals to finish with.
47:22Keyzie:Pretty good.
47:22Jase:There must have been some New Zealanders competing, though, even though they haven't got medals. Yeah, because somebody I know that one of the skiers crashed out and broke a collarbone. Yes, yes. Tell them all about that, Kesey. God, that sounded awful. Wow, sorry, that particular story didn't actually come across my desk, Mo. What do you mean, though? You're the Winter Olympics guy. Well, I'm not the Winter Olympics guy. I'm just a guy.
47:42Keyzie:Well, doesn't this thing say, with me, Kesey? Yeah, but that doesn't mean I suddenly become some Winter Olympics expert.
47:49Jase:I think if you had have looked at any website, any website in the world, you would have known about that crash.
47:55Keyzie:I mean, the phrase half-arse comes to mind. patronising? What do you mean patronising? Well, the fact that you just don't really seem to care anymore. How about this? Okay, so Zoe Sadowski sent it two silvers, Luca Harrington a bronze.
48:11Jase:Yeah, we've been... Yeah, we've already said that. Hang on. Guess who did the closing ceremony? Who carried the flag? Guess. Is it finished? Is it finished? Yeah, it's finished. It's all done. When did it finish? Overnight. That's an important piece of information. Oh, was it? I thought I said that. Luca Harrington was the right guest, fellas. Thanks for playing. He got to carry the flag there in the closing ceremony. Who is that? He won the bronze. For what? For free ski slope style. What? It's when you ski down a... But, yeah, look, it's been great covering the Winter Olympics, fellas, and it is time to put this to bed.
48:54Jase:I'm looking forward to the Paralympics. So am I, actually. Yeah, okay, well, I can keep you abreast of that if you want. Can you? A lot of great sports. You've got your para-snowboard, para-ice hockey, your para-biathlon, your para-alpine skiing. And what New Zealanders are competing in those? Yeah, who's looking good for a medal, Kesey? Well, you've got alpine skiers like Adam Hall and Corey Peters. They've retired. What? The Hauraki Big Show. weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
49:24Keyzie:Sublime there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening, the time being 6.25. And just a reminder that if you'd like to go in the draw to go and to win a$250 golf warehouse voucher to head along to our social media, whether it's Radio Hauraki, whether it's Hauraki Big Show, Facebook or Instagram, and comment on the video of myself, Hoedie J. Minaya, and also Jerry from The Breakfast Show having our swings analysed by the experts at the Golf Warehouse Performance Lab. We've got two of those vouchers to give away. We're going to give them away soon. Yeah, how good. So good, fellas. Hey, I'm facing a bit of backlash here from a few different directions regarding me giving Jace's come-dine-with-me dinner party a six out of ten.
50:09Keyzie:My wife heard it driving back from the airport. Yeah, so is your wife still listening now? No. Okay. She turned it off after that and she's in tears. Yeah. But I said, hey, kiddo, you did great. Cool, man. I'm sure that made her feel way better. And Pugs and old Mogi gave a very kind and generous eight.
50:35Jase:Well, I guess one thing that was sort of omitted from the way that things are done on Come Dine With Me is that the scoring is confidential. It happens behind closed doors and is only revealed after the very last dinner. Ah, to avoid what he's going to do, which is slam mine. Not at all.
50:53Keyzie:I shall legitimately write your meal and your company on the day. No, I told you that your meal and your company were 10 out of 10.
51:06Jase:Yeah. Those two things were not an issue. In fact, they were fantastic. What did you mark them down for? The million other silly things. And also 10 out of 10 is being hosted by LeBron James or the king at his palace or something. That's a 10 out of 10 dinner party with the best food in the world. You know, that is 10 out of 10. I think the 10 is based on the parameters available when the competition comes down with me. What is the best that you could possibly provide in this competition? You couldn't provide a palace and a king and LeBron James, that's insane. Well, I didn't know that. I thought I'm working on it.
51:43I might be able to pull something together.
51:44Keyzie:Look, Kesey, what I take from your score is I must do better. And frankly, I must. You know, and as I say, my wife was really anxious and nervous about it. It's the first time in 15 years, fellas, that we've hosted a dinner party. I can tell. So, you know, she coped extraordinarily well. No, but Chase, I need you to know. I need you to know. The food, once again, food, amazing. Company, amazing. I loved it.
52:12Jase:What was the thing you hated again? We got rushed out really early. It was halfway through a glass of wine. That was weird for you. But I was already leaving. I was happy to go. You wanted to go. Yeah, I couldn't wait. Me and my wife Pug San and his partner. It felt so over. But I guess the difference, Jase, because you felt like it was over and you were at the point where you were. I kept on seeing you look at it, you're watching, tapping it. He doesn't have a watch.
52:34Keyzie:It was a clock on the wall. Well, I recall when you left, I went, oh my God, is that the time? That's right.
52:38Jase:But I think the difference is everyone else is all pissed up, aren't they? They're loving it. They want to stick around. We're sober. We're just thinking, get out. Yes. And I was just thinking, I want to get out of here for about the last hour and a half. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's just, I think if the dinner party had gone for another half an hour, seven out of ten. If we were allowed to get seconds before you cleaned up all the plates, that would have been good.
52:59Keyzie:That is not true. I'm just saying, like, I loved it. It was, as I said, my favourite evening probably of the year so far. It was such good fun. Yeah. The food was amazing. Your wife was amazing. but they were just 10 out of 10 is a perfect dinner party. No look and there needs to be room to improve Matt. As I say we all get a crack at it fellas. That's right. Well that's why
53:23Jase:you know that's why I gave it eight so that Keezer you've got room for a nine or ten. That's right. While Pugs has got room for a nine or ten while at the same time recognising what a brilliant Jase and his wife did on that first night there. They smashed it.
53:38Keyzie:I just worry a little bit that your wife's going to feel more pressure about this now. She's not cooking.
53:45Jase:Not at all. No, no, absolutely not. Well, I remember you said that she wouldn't want to feel judged by us after the, you know, cake gate. And so you said the other night at the dinner that you would be doing all the cooking, and she said, and I quote, good luck.
54:05Keyzie:So if you're doing all the cooking, can I just give you my score now? Sure. Three. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. R-E-M. On the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening, the time being 6.37. Now we do a segment called Meat Patty Nip 69 where we give out advice. Yeah. Let's do that now, shall we? Okay. Meat Patty Nip 69 at gmail.com. Get in touch with the fellas. Failers. Keezy, come on, man. Meet pattynips69 at gmail.com. Real email address. Get in touch. And if we read it out on the show, you get yourself a prize. Worth doing. I hear they're throwing backbone tees in there now, which is pretty cool.
54:56Oh, yeah.
54:57Jase:That's exciting stuff. Have you seen the new backbone t-shirt, Keezy? I've worn it, mate. So good. Hey, this one comes from Anonymous. They're always anonymous, by the way, unless you don't want it to be anonymous and then say, hey, don't make this anonymous. Have we had one yet that hasn't been anonymous? One. One, I think, yeah. G'day, lads. In need of some advice, you're the best people to reach out to. I have my in-laws coming from the UK, arriving this coming Friday. They've been over a few times, and they're a good bunch, though, are getting on. So each time they're over, it's a bit like working in a retirement home.
55:27My wife gave birth to an epic wee lass two months ago, and this is the reason for the visit from the in-laws. Now, normally when they're here, I can partake in some basil to help keep me going and look after them. But with a baby in the mix, that's off the cards. What is your advice to help me deal with the in-laws? Do you have any tips or tricks for when yours visit?
55:47Keyzie:That's a double whammy scenario, that one. Not only are the in-laws coming, but you've got a new bub as well, and they're coming to see the new bub. That is fraught. Yes.
55:57Jase:Fraught with difficulties. Did I miss it? He just doesn't like them? No, he says they're okay. And he feels like a retirement worker in his own home. Right. I paraphrased it.
56:10Keyzie:And he can't, you know, have basil to relax. Well, he can. Well, he could, yeah. I mean, I would still do that. Eat basil? Yes.
56:20Jase:Sure. Yeah, okay. I mean, I'm lucky because my in-laws are great. So I don't have the issue that he's talking about there. It's a tricky one. You could always make them stay off site. Well, that's the other thing, right? It depends on the size of the house. Yes. Because if you've got a child. And how long they're coming. Yeah, and you've got a small house and you're all in one, but you're always in the lounge together or something. You just need somebody to get away with your own space.
56:44Keyzie:The other, it'd be interesting to know if this is their first, bud, because what you can often get when the in-laws come to stay and this is your first child is inundated with advice that you're not really seeking. That's true. From the mother-in-law particularly. Yeah. Sex is just to target her like that. Just because that tends to be, in a generalised sense... My mother-in-law was fantastic. Is fantastic. Right, okay. It just seems like... Very, very supportive in terms of babies.
57:14Jase:Right, okay. In terms of babies, were the other areas not so good?
57:17Keyzie:Oh, no, in terms of... In all areas, Mogi. In fact, she came to see us this weekend. Just this weekend. Just this weekend. But we didn't have any babies with us. Right, so you're saying that your mother-in-law... And I hadn't had any basil. Your mother-in-law is great in all areas, is what you're saying. Yes. Pretty random thing just to say randomly. Is it? Well, I mean. It just feels like you're trying to, you know, I don't know. She's just a wonderful, wonderful woman, Keezy. Oh, that's good.
57:43Jase:For this fella, you might just have to suck it up. Yeah. Put it that way. Suck it up.
57:50Keyzie:You're going to have to suck it up. You're going to have to suck it hard. Yes, totally. Was there a mention of a length of time on the stay there, Keezy? No, but they're coming from the UK. Oh, probably a long time.
57:59Jase:Six weeks, I'd say. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's one of those things where, yeah, it's very, very tricky. You can't make a scene because they're not your parents. No. You can't, as you say, take drugs to make yourself feel better. Yes. Are you allowed to get drunk? I mean, the baby doesn't move.
58:19Keyzie:Yeah, you can have a few venos. But the other thing too, which is adding to the potential issues here, is often in that scenario, the parents-in-law expect to be entertained. Yeah, and it can happen. Taken out and about.
58:34Jase:And also be looked after, generally, as he's sort of alluding to there, which is, you know, it's more mouths to feed as opposed to them coming and lightening the load. You want load lighteners, Keezer. You don't want people that are a hindrance. Yeah, right, okay. Divorce her. Yeah, okay, divorce. Yeah, great. Okay, perfect.
58:52Keyzie:Before they arrive. Quick. Yeah, okay. Oh, shit, that actually came in in January, so we're a bit late. Oh. Oh, sorry about that. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
59:09Keyzie:My God, is that the end of the show? It's just flown by. Certainly has. By the way, push, push there. The whole Hauraki crew went to the show Friday night up here in Auckland. Apparently it was excellent.
59:21Jase:I wasn't really tuned into that song just then until I looked up and I saw, oh, it's Poosh Poosh. Yeah. Boosh Poosh, douche, douche. I'm assuming that's a new track. Yeah, yeah, Mogey missed it because he was going poos. I was doing a poop.
59:35Jase:I'll give it a six out of ten. Oh, wow. Oh, Mogey, six out of ten. Oh, that's so horrible of you.
59:40Keyzie:So you give your shit a six out of ten. Which is the same score. The same score that Keezy gives my meal on Friday night. That's right.
59:47Jase:Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
59:49Keyzie:So there you go. Wow.
59:50Jase:Serve that one up for you, Keezy. Were you rushed out early of the toilet like Haughty J did with his dinner party? With us? No, believe me, I had heaps of time to get back here. Yeah, right. What's the podcast outro clip today, Keezy? Keezy. Honestly, man, I couldn't tell you. It was so long ago. This is about the new big show. And don't forget, the podcast outro comes out at 7.30 tonight. Get him, get him, get him, get him.
1:00:16Keyzie:All over the fertile soil, Mogi and I will plant fertile seeds for Keezy to take the reins and, you know, create his own. The new big show. The Keezy show. The Keezy show. With me, Keezy. The Keezy show with me, Keezy. I can call...
1:00:37Jase:That's got to be the name of it. Big announcement today in today's podcast, fellas. So get out there, listen to it or don't, whatever. I'm just saying.
1:00:45Keyzie:Yeah, sure. Sure, there was a big announcement. Now, by the looks of you, Mogey, you're about to bugger off to the gym. No, I'm going to ride my bicycle. Oh, right, okay.
1:00:54Jase:Yes, no, that makes sense. The Tita is terminal. Oh, no. And I'm waiting to hear about getting a new motor for it. So, Mogey's going to be on his bike and on his feet for the foreseeable future. Yeah, man. Oh, you've got some headphones? You know what, man? I've gone off them. I don't listen anymore. I sit with my thoughts. I used to listen to it all day. I would listen to podcasts all day. I don't listen to any anymore. I listen to nothing. I don't listen to music or anything. I just sit with my thoughts. And actually, I need to change because I'm starting to get depressed. Right, yeah. Really?
1:01:29Jase:You don't want to be in here, Keezy. Right. You don't want to be in there, man, so I need some distractions. Yeah, I understand.
1:01:36Keyzie:Hey, Keezy, I've got a feeling it's going to be an interesting night for you at your home tonight. What is that? Just with your wife. Yeah. Well, yeah, I'm making lamb and halloumi pita breads. You better get the practice in. Yeah, yeah, no. Look, Jase, yes, she was flabbergasted that I gave your meal a six. It wasn't the meal. It was the evening as a whole, the dining experience, a six out of ten. That kind of makes me feel worse about it, but yeah. Yeah, it kind of does sound worse, doesn't it? Yeah, just the evening in general. Yeah. It's so annoying because I loved the evening. What are you having for tea?
1:02:09Keyzie:Oh, you're having lamb and halloumi. Lamb and halloumi flatbreads. What are you having? That sounds actually pretty good. Can you serve that on your dinner? I'll eat that. Yeah, on your dinner. Bit of mint sauce. Yeah, sure. I'm going to walk home. I might pick up something to bite, a bite to eat on the way home. And, oh, we finished, are we? Bye.
