In short
The Hauraki Big Show discusses Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and “A Day in Lieu” (12-hour live broadcast from the Sky Tower on Thu June 25), including a live audience poll to choose who will press the button to light the Sky Tower green. They also cover a Warriors vs Panthers rugby league game, TV/documentary and streaming recommendations, and a recurring “nicotine bet” about whether host Jase (Hoity J) avoided vapes/cigarettes for all of May.
Key claims
Jase lost the May nicotine bet—he vaped again after running out of nicotine gum; the Sky Tower will be lit green for bowel cancer awareness; the Warriors’ loss was by “millimetres” and the season remains tight (only four points ahead of 8th).
Notable examples
Sky Tower button moment (initially “nothing happened,” then it worked); Warriors’ Jackson Ford stats (1,000 tackles, 100 runs); Vinnie Jones documentary anecdote (squeezing Paul Gascoigne’s “downstairs”); “DTF St. Louis” and “Jason Bateman” series about infidelity.
Guests
Charlie Gubb (rugby league commentator/ex-player; discusses Warriors vs Panthers). No other external guests appear; the rest are hosts Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue, and Keyzie (Keezy/Mogey) plus producer Pugs.

0:09Keyzie:Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. Really big. Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad boss. It's great to have your company on this rather moody Tuesday afternoon. It is the 2nd of June, 2026. And you, my friends, are, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Rebeer Gear.
0:36Mike Minogue:Crave-worthy street food, freshly made with Rebeer Gear. Oh, my God. Is that you? Yeah, I can't believe it's you.
0:44Keyzie:You look good. Yeah, no, thanks. You look really good. Oh, stop it.
0:49Mike Minogue:You are such a flirt. It's bananas, isn't it? Yeah, well, you know. I remember why we ever just parked there. Yeah, well, you know, these things happen. Geez. Yeah. Those are the good times, eh? Look, I hate to be so forward, but, um, well, would you maybe want to get it? Get some Reburger. Oh. Whoops. No, yeah. Oh, no, sorry. You wanted to get Reburger, did you? Yeah, well, you know, it's crave-worthy and it's street food. Yeah, well, I suppose we could probably make that romantic. Oh, no, I'm not doing it because it's romantic.
1:27Keyzie:What do you mean?
1:28Mike Minogue:I'm doing it because it's yummy.
1:31Keyzie:Ah, yes, indeed, they're back. Ree-burger. Speaking of back, so are you, Mogey, you stallion. How's life? Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. How good is it, man? Like an old pair of undies, eh? Yeah, man, they just fit. They just fit, Keezy. Nice and snug, brother. You know, maybe one of your testicles might hang out one of the holes on the side there, but you don't care. It feels right. Fellas.
1:56Mike Minogue:Yeah, fellas. Fellas. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Big welcome back to Reburger. Back on board with the big show, which means we've got plenty of Reburger vouchers to give away as well. Keezy, is that a new T-shirt, man? It's a new T-shirt, Moggy. Truck shop Chevrolet products. That's right. My mum and dad recently got back from the States. They got you a T-shirt. They went to a truck shop. Yeah. And they got me a truck shop shirt. You know who will love this T-shirt? Oh, Keezy. That's what they said. Mon and Don there. They call you old Keseley? Yeah, they do. And I call them Mon and Don. Yeah, nice. Yeah, Jase.
2:26Keyzie:Well, look, I tell you what. What? It's brand spanking new. It's never been washed. And it's a big truck shop. It's good stuff.
2:37Mike Minogue:Brum, brum. How are you, Jase? You wearing the same blazer and hoodie you've been wearing for two weeks straight?
2:41Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, man. Feeling good. I had a great long weekend. You, Mogi, good long weekend? I had a really good long weekend, actually. Actually, that extra day there is a real treat, isn't it? It is. You know, I got to celebrate the king, old Chucky. Oh, yeah. Chucky. A hell of a day yesterday. And, yeah, I guess we'll probably end up talking about it at some point. But, yeah, it was great. I think maybe we should just start doing, I don't know how you feel about it, fellas, but maybe we'll just start doing four-day weeks moving forward. Oh, look, I'm in. I'm in on that. I'm totally in on that.
3:08Keyzie:I've been advocating for that for about the last two years, four-day working weeks for everyone. Are you in, New Zealand? 3483, let us know. Hey, fellas, what's coming up on the show today?
3:23What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogey? Have you heard of bowel cancer? Yes. What about Bowel Cancer Awareness Month? Well, it's happening all over again, fellas, and we've got a big poll coming up next that we're going to be yarning about. Stay tuned for that because we've got some very exciting. We have been asked to do something which is an honour, and very few people get to do it, and we need your help out there, you backbones. Later on in the show, we're going to be, well, very soon, this hour actually, we're going to be talking to Charlie Gubb about that hell of a game over the weekend.
3:53What a doozy. Jawas versus Penrith. And also, later on in the show, we're going to be talking about the big bet. Hoity Jizzbot, Jason Hoy. We had a bet with him, myself. I put$100 up against him and also Keezy, saying that he couldn't avoid nicotine products for the month of May. Today is the 2nd of June, I think, and we're going to find out whether he's done it or not. Yeah, man, looking forward to it. Looking forward to it.
4:20Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
4:24Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the killers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past four o 'clock. And as you mentioned at the top of the show there, Mo, it's a big month, Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. That's right. Oh, look at that. That was pretty cool. We said it at the same time.
4:40Mike Minogue:I just want to really, you know, emphasize that that is right. it is bowel cancer awareness. 100 % Liz and every year this must be our third or fourth is it? We love it. Yeah we do. Getting them behind it and raising them as much money as we can to support the research into a cure for bowel cancer. Yeah we do this by putting on a day in lieu. It is a 12 hour long live broadcast. We've done it from several locations. It started out with us just doing it live from a bar. All of the Hauraki announcers in one place broadcasting live. You can come and watch it. We then went to the Bowels of Eden Park.
5:13Mike Minogue:That's right. Oh, yeah. That's when you dunked on Tom Abercrombie. Do you remember that from the breakers? I wasted his ass. Yeah, he looked ridiculous. He did. He looked stupid. He hit a shot. He didn't dunk. Dunked right on his face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're a backbone, Josh. It was a three-point poof. Yeah, that's right. Three-point poof. Dadoosh. That's what it's called. We did that from the bowels of Eden Park. This year, we're going 200 metres up. Wow. Auckland's iconic Sky Tower. Yeah, man. So A Day in Lou is going to be happening at the top of the Sky Tower. It's bloody exciting stuff, and it's a 12-hour live broadcast that you cannot ignore.
5:49Mike Minogue:It's happening Thursday, June 25th, starting from 6 a.m., the breakfast show during the day as well with Beck and Prebs, and then right through to the big show. All of it will be live in one place, the top of the Sky Tower, raising funds for bowel cancer New Zealand. So if you're keen to donate, text Lou to 3483. You can also head to dayinlou.co.nz. not only to donate but also for an online symptom checker. Online? Yeah. It's great stuff.
6:16Keyzie:Make sure you do it. Now, listen, fellas, we've also been given the opportunity of a lifetime, the stuff that dreams are made of.
6:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. And with that in mind, it's time for today's Big Pole. The Big Pole.
6:38Mike Minogue:The thing that Jase is talking about is one of us will get the opportunity to light up the Sky Tower with the official colours of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, which is... Green! It is green, actually. I didn't know that, but it is green. So one of us at 6pm tonight approximately will get to push the official button, change the colour of the Sky Tower, and we just want the audience to choose who gets to do it.
6:58Keyzie:And this is going to be live and broadcast. I'm very excited about it. I mean, I've been involved in some events in my time, but this is probably the biggest. And what makes it really exciting is that, and a lot of people might know this, Pugs Arm, producer Pugs, is an absolute fanatic about the Sky Tower. He absolutely froths it. He worships it. You know, you remember the old show Mastermind. Yes. This would be his specialty subject where you could answer any kind of trivia question on it. You are an expert on it. For example, today he said to me, Mogi, did you realise that the Sky Tower was finished seven months ahead of schedule?
7:33Wow. He said, Mogi, did you realise that the Sky Tower came in under budget? Wow. And it's the biggest project of its size ever to come in under budget, which I would have to say never, ever happened. Probably because it's double budget. It is an incredible building, according to Pugs, and an opportunity to hit this button and light that bastard up. He's very excited and an opportunity to do it. So, unfortunately, it's going to a big pole, and one of the three of us. Oh, so not him? Well, I think he should be on the list. He could be the first person. But why should he be the one that gets to do it automatically?
8:05Yeah, he's to earn it. Yeah, you've got to earn it, bro.
8:07Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah. So all you've got to do is go to the Haraki Big Show's Instagram story there and vote. Who would you like to light up the Sky Tower tonight? It is pretty exciting. It's like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
8:16Keyzie:Very exciting. I mean, it's my dream as well. I mean, I don't want to prejudice the big pole in any way, but it would be absolutely a dream come true for Hoardy J. Well, I wasn't interested in the Sky Tower at all until Pug started hitting me with these facts, and now I would love to be the one to push that button.
8:33Mike Minogue:To be honest, guys, I could take it or leave it, so I'm happy to let you guys take the votes on this one. But you decide, New Zealand. The Hauraki Big Show Instagram story have your say.
8:43Keyzie:In the meantime, here's a bit of news.
8:48Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
8:54Keyzie:Green day there on the radio. Horaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 25 minutes past four o 'clock. Fellas, I've got a bone to pick.
9:06We're buds, eh, fellas?
9:08Mike Minogue:Yeah. Yeah, man. 100 % Mogey. Cool. There's just been some stuff going on over the last couple of years, which is making me feel like I'm a little bit on the outer. We go away, we do various trips, et cetera. The three of you, yourself, Jase, Keezy, Pugsone, you have pizza parties. Just the three of you. You don't ask me to come along. You have them by yourselves. I bring it up with you. You go, oh, yeah, I know, eh? And then you have another one, also not invited. Then you have to walk past my door to go and get the pizza. You don't knock on the door. None of that. But that's all good because I'm busy.
9:40I've got stuff on. Well, that's why we don't do it. Yeah, exactly. I'm very busy. Another thing that's started happening lately is I'm finding out that you guys privately send each other Instagram Reels just for jokes. just, I guess, to build the camaraderie up between the three of you. Yeah, a few chuckles amongst the fellows. And I just noticed that I've been completely left out of that as well. So I'm starting to see a pattern arise here, fellas. And it doesn't bother me at all. I mean, I don't care whatever. No, you shouldn't. I've got plenty on. You're busy. But I just sort of thought, you know, look, I've got to send a few, man.
10:12I've seen some funny stuff on Instagram there. And I just thought, you know, I'd start sending you guys some stuff, which I did over the weekend. Yeah. And it's slightly disappointing because, you know, I think to myself, oh, the fellas will love this. This is right up their alley. And I send a video through and out of the three of you, absolutely nobody messages me back.
10:37Mike Minogue:Now, just on that particular. And I'm just saying that it feels deliberate. I mean, that particular video, Jase, I mean, I don't know how you felt, but did you watch it at all?
10:49Keyzie:I caved this morning.
10:51Mike Minogue:You watched it because I didn't watch it based on the thumbnail.
10:55Keyzie:I saw it and, look, I've got to be honest with you, Maggie. I hear where you're coming from, but we're all a little bit scarred from your reels. Yes. The one today, can I? Oh, look, I've just got to spell it out. Scarred from what? From previous reels that you have sent.
Read the full transcript
11:10Mike Minogue:Okay, the last two reels I can remember you sending me. One was a monkey with large buzzies. The other one was a horse with a massive downstairs operation. And so now I'm on Mogey Real Watch. But as I say, Keezy, I see these things and I think that'll be right up your alley. Today's one, well, it was yesterday's, is literally a cow doing an enormous grogan into the hands of a woman, and it's huge.
11:47Keyzie:And she waits for the entire Grogan to be expelled and goes, ooh, and then walks away with it.
11:56Mike Minogue:So you watched the whole thing?
11:58Keyzie:I watched the whole thing. And I've got to be honest with you, there was something compelling about it, I'll give you that.
12:06Keyzie:But this is not the stuff, Moggy, that the fellas have been sending to each other. Well, look, I'm just trying to offer another flavour. It's certainly another flavour.
12:22Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
12:28Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the Red Hot. Chilli Peppers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. Now, as always, there was a bit of rugby league action over the weekend. With that in mind, we've got our resident league professional on the line with us, the one, the only, Charlie. Gub, g'day, Charlie, you mad bastard. How's life?
12:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, good. Hoity, brother. I always appreciate the intro, and that is some good, chill chilli peppers before I come on. Good to have some decent music for once. Yeah. We should play more chillies, eh?
13:01Keyzie:You can't get too much of the chilli peppers as far as I'm concerned, Charlie.
13:06Mike Minogue:Yeah, well, good on you. Yeah. Hey, Charlie, we'll just bring it back from the Chili's to Rugby League, mate. The Panthers took on the Wars Sunday night. A two-point loss for the Warriors. Top of the table clash. First versus second. Both sides missing a lot of key players, but both sides still managing to put on what was dubbed as one of the games of the season so far. How did you find it? It was massive. I think both teams would have had that marked in the calendar for a while when they realised that they're both grand final bound. But it just delivered the speed, the intensity, the skill. I don't know about you, Keezy, but I'd rather be in the Warriors camp than the Panthers camp moving forward.
13:51100 % man. Absolutely. Well, we had a bit of a chat about it, didn't we? During the game there, Charlie, on Sunday night, you rang me up, you'd had an absolute skinful.
14:01Mike Minogue:No, Bogie, I think what happened was you rang me up and you've been on the glass, Bobby.
14:09But we agreed. Look, I think, look, we lost, but I don't think there's anybody out there that'll be feeling gutted about it. We lost, we missed a lot of opportunities. We left points out on the field. We can definitely get better. And kind of what it showed is the difference between the Warriors and the Panthers is when it's a game of millimetres, the Panthers deliver, and we are just not quite sharp enough. We've got a little bit of improving to do.
14:32Mike Minogue:Yeah, definitely. I think if we played that another three times, we'd probably win twice, Mogi. Like you said, it is a game of inches. Even the young fellas really turned up. I think they'll learn big time from their little lapses. Not that anything was crazy, but just little moments which equal a loss. It's hard to say because the effort was all there and the intensity was. It just didn't go our way. but I don't know. If we keep playing like that, we're going to win a lot more than we lose and we'll be there in the big one. 100%, because we're only, you know, barely making our way to the halfway point of the season.
15:10Mike Minogue:The Waz are looking good, Charlie. How did you find it as an ex-player watching both those teams completing at such a high rate? Because the ball seemed to be in play for about 77 of those 80 minutes. It looked absolutely knackering. It does look knackering, brother. That's a good way to put it. And I don't know, the game's changed so much now. I think even a few years ago, teams wouldn't be able to handle what they're doing now. But obviously, the strength and conditioning and people's bodies are adapting. There's no more those big up and down props anymore. Everyone's got leg speed and everyone's getting a bit smaller, whether that's good or bad.
15:47Mike Minogue:But it's just so intense. And to see the way Jackson Ford just goes about his business, you're like, wow, this guy's on what Mogi's on. Well, the thing with Jackson Ford is he played pretty much every minute. He made 1 ,000 tackles. He ran 100 times. He had his face driven into the ground about three times as well. He's an absolute freak of nature, but it was just another really good example of the Waz youngsters and the Waz reserve players stepping up. We should have had Tanner Boyd out. They should have had Nathan Cleary out there. We should have had Tanner Boyd. We were missing both our origin forwards as well.
16:23Mike Minogue:They were missing a couple of theirs. And the way that Tomite Martin has just come straight in, set up two tries and just seems to, you know, sort of hitting the ground running. Yeah, that's right. No one played poorly. Everyone was on. And I think, I don't know, you pretty much said everything. Kesey didn't really leave me with anything to carry on with. So just moving forward in radio, just maybe just say a little bit and at least say the main thing. Yeah, yeah, cool, cool. I'll just write that down. I'll just write that down.
16:53Keyzie:Gubby, do you think this loss maybe is the beginning of the inevitable sort of Warriors downward spiral? Gubby? Yep, what happened? Were they trying to cut Keezy off you or I got cut off?
17:11Mike Minogue:No, Jase just asked a really good question. Do you want to ask it again, Jase?
17:13Keyzie:I was going to say, does this loss represent the start of maybe that inevitable big Warriors slide down the ladder mid-season?
17:21Mike Minogue:Nah, nah. It's the new year, 2020. What year are we in? 26? 26, man. Nah, we're in 26. It's the new year. We don't do that anymore. But I will say this, Hoytia. It is a little bit scary because as good as we've been going, I think we're only four points in front of eighth place. So it's still a very tight hump. Yeah. Yeah, so that's a bit of statistics. You guys like those? Love the statistics, Charlie. Before you let you go, mate, who is your Portaking player of the day? Player of the day was the whole back five from the Warriors, and player of the night was Mogi. I'm guessing he's on a massive comedown right now.
18:01I was high on the Waz, brother.
18:05Mike Minogue:Real high. Yeah, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's leave it at that. Hey, don't forget if you're in Wellington and you need a port-a-loo to hit up Portaking, Uncle Charlie will sort you out. Charlie, thanks so much for the yarn, mate. Yep, and Portaking's got a special. We're doing a real cash only.
18:21Keyzie:Oh, cash only. Now you're talking. Yeah, yeah.
18:26Mike Minogue:Ring me on my personal number. Thanks, Charlie. See you, fellas.
18:30Keyzie:See you, mate. In the meantime, how about a little bit of David Bowie, fellas?
18:36Mike Minogue:The Hodaki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hodaki.
18:40Keyzie:Joy Division there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is exactly nine minutes to five o 'clock. Hey, fellas, let's talk a little TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
18:59Yeah! Fellas, over the weekend, I actually watched a bunch of documentaries, sporting documentaries. One of them was the Untold series of docos, which is on Netflix. They do a whole bunch of different things there. and one of them was on Vinnie Jones, the footballer, who ended up being an actor. And it goes through his time going from somebody that never went through any development sides or anything like that, just played for a club side, and within 18 months had been promoted sort of through the ranks and ended up playing and winning the FA Cup final. A super violent individual, a massive alcoholic and drug addict.
19:38Absolute backbone. Yes. One of the most famous photos he ever took, or one of the most famous photos of football, was when Vinnie Jones, who was a defender, was marking Paul Gascoigne, who was the latest, greatest striker. Vinnie Jones and Paul Gascoigne are looking back towards Gascoigne's own goal, just watching the ball, and Vinnie Jones, with his left hand, is grasping onto Paul Gascoigne's downstairs and squeezing with all of his might. One of the hard men of football. Who, Gascoigne? Not at that point. And a bloody good watch, actually. He's a very charismatic individual, had his demons, but bloody good watch, and then ended up going off to Hollywood and doing a whole bunch of great stuff.
20:20So Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was his first ever role.
20:25Mike Minogue:He's great in everything because he plays kind of the same guy. He's just the same guy. Yes, but I love him. And that guy is a scary dude. And he's awesome. He's funny. Yeah, he's great. He's really great. Three and a half buzzies, I'll give that out of a possible five on Netflix. Definitely watch. It's great.
20:37Keyzie:Great stuff. We like people that have demons, don't we, fellas? We do. It makes life more interesting. Fellas, because I've got Neon back on board, I've started watching DTF St. Louis again. Oh, yeah. I was like two episodes in, and then we cut off Neon. It was like, oh, bugger. I was really enjoying that.
20:58Mike Minogue:Why did you cut it off then?
21:00Keyzie:It's cheap. Because, you know, we've got so many subscriptions, Keezy.
21:05Mike Minogue:So I cut the one off with the program I'm watching.
21:07Keyzie:Well, I mean, I watch lots of programs on lots of different things, and that was the one that had to go. Yeah, right. But I've got back to a very enjoyable, very sexy. Bateman. Jason. Jason Bateman. You know, he always plays the same kind of dude. He does. But he's very likeable. Linda. Cardellini. Cardellini. Cardellini. Kennellini. Yeah. She's very good. She's a very good actor. One of the Skarsgård kids. Oh, really? Yes. He might not have turned up yet. And it's a series, it's about sort of infidelity, basically. Cheating, Keezy, you'd love it. Cheating, you'd love it. And it's very good. And as you'd expect, there are a lot of twists and turns.
21:54It's a bit of a cautionary tale for you, Keezy.
21:56Keyzie:Yeah, just, and actually, you should watch it, Keezy, just to sort of, you know, see the signposts of what could happen to you.
22:04Mike Minogue:But what I don't want to happen is to watch something that suddenly makes me feel bad about my cheating. No, I know. You know what I mean? No, but it's just it gives you another, it's the other side of the coin, isn't it? It is. Nobody's saying stop, Casey. Not at all. Okay, good, because I don't want to stop cheating. No. Well, you couldn't.
22:19Keyzie:I don't think it's in your, I don't think you're capable of it. I don't think I am. Yeah, it's in your DNA. Yeah, it's in my DNA. You can't help your nature, Casey. You're like a runaway train.
22:28Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm a cheater. I'm a runaway train. You're a cheater from the tip of your toes to the top of your head, man. That's you.
22:33Keyzie:With a different lover in every carriage.
22:37Mike Minogue:Yeah, train. The old cheating train. How many buzzies out of five?
22:41Keyzie:Oh, look, I'll give it a solid 3.2 buzzies.
22:45Mike Minogue:Out of possible five, nice, and that's on neon. Fellas, we were watching Country Calendar the other night, and it was a pretty boring episode. But then at the very end, it was like, oh, celebrating 60 years of Country Calendar, you can go back on TVNZ Plus and watch the first ever season. So we went back and watched the first ever season of Country Calendar. It was an episode about hunt away dogs and training them. Shit, it was boring. Yeah, right. That early season, it literally was just a guy whistling and saying, getting behind to a dog for like 15 minutes. We watched the whole thing. We were just like, surely something happens soon.
23:18Mike Minogue:It's just like, nah. Just talking about the dogs. Getting behind, eh? Just getting behind.
23:22Keyzie:Can I ask, Keezy, do you watch your location, location, locations, your country calendar to put out a sort of this persona of a boring kind of fella who doesn't really get up to too much to sort of cover the floor of your rampant cheating.
23:43Mike Minogue:Yeah, bingo. 100%. 100 % I do, Jase. You're onto me, man. It's working, though. It throws people off the scent. And that scent is cheating.
23:55Keyzie:Now, listen. What? Make sure you go on our Instagram and our big poll because it's an historic day for the big show. So one of us, and that includes Pug-san, gets to do the button to light up the Sky Tower. We're going to be doing that live today in response to the start of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month,
24:17Mike Minogue:aren't we, fellas? Fellas. It's very exciting. Jase, head to the Hodaki Big Show's Instagram story to vote for who gets to push the button. Coming up after five, lots of good stuff, fellas, including me having a bone to pick with netball, by the way. Oh, yeah. Oh, no. Don't you're a shocker. Jeez. Yeah, yeah, and I like cheating as well. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
24:42Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way, brought to you by ReBurger. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats
24:55Mike Minogue:that'll change the game. I love you. You.
25:02Keyzie:Complete me. And I just had... Shut up. Just shut up. You had me at... Reaping. You had me at... Reaping.
25:19Mike Minogue:Yeah, they're back. I've never seen that movie. What was that?
25:26Mike Minogue:Come on, man. What was it? You know what it was. What was it? You've not seen that movie. I literally have never seen that movie. You'd like it. What is it? Jerry Maguire. Aye. Yeah, yeah. Have you seen that, Keezy? No. Have you not? No. Your wife would like that. Yeah, she would. How's that supposed to mean? Well, just that your wife would like it. She would. You don't know what my wife likes. Yeah, I do. Well, to be honest, you guys both do. Yeah, we do. It's going a bit early and watching location, location, location. Half of location, location. Yeah, and then after that's done, I go out cheating.
25:56Keyzie:Actually, it was really good because we went and had Ree Berger the other day, didn't we, fellas? On Friday. Yeah, on Friday there and stuffed our faces. We did. Some of us more than others. Yeah, that's true. Not looking at anyone in particular. By the way... In particular. Go and check out our Instagram, because we've just released a video in that regard.
26:15Mike Minogue:Is it on Facebook as well, Pugs? Radio Horaki? Yeah, if you've got Facebook, check it out. It's a video of us rekindling the affair with... Reeberg. I've got to stop. You're having a shocker, man. You are. Using terms like affair, don't I?
26:27Keyzie:Now, listen, big hour coming up. Make sure you vote on who should push the button to light the Sky Tower tonight, by the way. This is an exciting time to be alive. It certainly is. You are a part of it if you're listening right now, so get involved.
26:39Mike Minogue:I've got goosebumps. Up next, though, for the entire month of May, Hoity J was not allowed to have a vape or a cigarette. It is time to find out whether or not he actually stuck and won the bet, the$100 off Mogey, or if he lost and me and you now have to give Mogey$100.
26:56Keyzie:Yeah, text us 3483. How do you rate my chances? Yes or no?
27:01Mike Minogue:That's right. Every single text in the draw for a Reburger voucher, so it's worth doing. That's 3483.
27:06Keyzie:In the meantime, here's LMNOP.
27:08Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
27:15Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Stone Temple Pilots there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. The time is 14 minutes past 5 o 'clock.
27:23Mike Minogue:Fellas, over the month of May, we challenged Hoidi J to lay off the darts and lay off the vape. Yes. You came to us. You said you were sick of having sore lungs and a headache, et cetera. You had a theory that it was because of the amount of vaping you were doing. So you decided to give up the vape. We put a bet on the line. Mogi straight away said 100 bucks says he can't do it. Yeah. 100 bucks says he can't do it. I backed Hoity J. I said he could definitely do it, man. I believe in Jase. Yeah. This is about his health, his ho order. So much so that he - Did you say that I took over your bet as well?
27:53Mike Minogue:He took over my bet for it. I didn't. No, we both have to either pay Mogey$100 each or he gives us both$100. Yeah, that's right. It all comes down to your willpower, Hoity J. Yeah. Now, a lot of people texting on 3483, we asked, how do you think Hoity J went in the bet? Anonymous here, 90 % chance J succumbed to the temptation of nicotine. 90 % chance. When you look at the history, Keesey, and this is without a word of a lie, we're nearing in on five years that we've been doing this show. We have given up darts, you and I, Jase. Yeah. I'm talking probably between five and ten times. Yes. We did one where we gave up for a year.
28:32That was great. And then we started smoking again.
28:35Mike Minogue:This is what's really thrown me off, is you guys very early doors gave up smoking for a year, and it seemed like you guys were sweet. What better way to celebrate than to start smoking darts? Exactly. If I could look back on that now.
28:48Keyzie:The lungs have had a good rest.
28:50Mike Minogue:Here's a good text from Connor. Ari Hoity Jizzbot no with an asterisk I bet he was sucking on digital durries like there's no tomorrow from Jack there is no way in hell Jase went without vapes and cigarettes for a month Robbie says absolutely not I'm going to be honest anyway Jase and Darts are like Keezy and having multiple wives just meant to be no way absolutely zero chance that you made it one whole month without a nicotine hit, that's from Tui well it is a tricky thing as well Jase and we're going to find out.
29:23Keyzie:So it's kind of split really, isn't it? No, really. It's only based on previous performance. Yes. And you can give up. It's just rare that you do. And the fact that you do repeatedly suggests that it's not going to stick for very long. And May, of course, 31 days, one of the longer months going around. So that made it more difficult for you from the start. Yes. You were, at the start of that month, heavily loaded up with nicotine. Yes, I was. Heavily loaded up. You had been smashing the vape heavily. doubling down, tripling down to get as much in you as you can in the hope that it would potentially last you across May.
29:57I'm not sure that that's how it works. No. But in terms of, and don't tell us how you went now, but in terms of confidence at the start of the month, how are you feeling?
30:05Keyzie:At the start of the month, not confident. Yeah. Not confident at all.
30:10Mike Minogue:Did me being confident in you help at all?
30:13Keyzie:No.
30:13Mike Minogue:Oh.
30:14Keyzie:No, it did, Keezy. You know, well, actually, what it did was it caused me more anxiety. Yeah. Because I don't want to let down old Keith. No, that's right. Although you've let him down so many times before. 100%.
30:26Mike Minogue:100%. True, that's true, I have. All right, so just based on 3483, I'm going to say 90 % of the texts have said no, that you will in fact have lost the bet you will have smoked or vaped at some point during the month of May. How does that make you feel, Jase? Yeah, how does that make you feel, man?
30:42Keyzie:Oh, look, I think it's legit. I think the listeners out there know old hoody Jay pretty well. Yeah, okay. There's this text here that's just coming in. I saw Hoity J at a vaping competition.
30:57Mike Minogue:There's a competition for that? Although, to be fair, you'd be a shoo-in.
31:00Keyzie:Yeah, I'd take that out for sure.
31:02Mike Minogue:All right, so, Jase, the official reveal of whether or not you smoked, whether I have to give Mogi$100 or whether he has to give us$100, we'll do that next, all right?
31:11Keyzie:Okay, mate, sounds good. In the meantime, here's a bit of blur.
31:16Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki
31:20Keyzie:Yes indeed, Incubus there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening The time is 5.24 Now the bet was on for the month of May For Hoody J to give away all nicotine, cigarettes, vapes For the month And if I broke that promise Then I'd have to pay Mogey 100 bucks As would Keezy
31:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, because I was backing you up man I believed in you You did man, you did It's about your health man and I want you to be healthy. You're sounding really doubtful, Kezia. Well, I've just been here before. Yeah, you have. You've been hurt before, man. I have been hurt before. So before you announce it, Jase, I'd just like to have a guess at whether or not you did in fact stay nicotine-free. My guess is that you didn't. 100%, I think you didn't. I think you broke pretty early and I think, in fact, I genuinely think, and this is after years of experience, that you've been vaping this whole time.
32:14Yeah.
32:15Mike Minogue:That's genuinely what I predict. Okay. My prediction is, I think that's shocking from you, Kesey. Oh, yeah, man. I think you need to have a bit more faith in your friend. Well, I put money in. My faith, I absolutely believe that you've done it, Jase. I think you may have wavered early on, but I think you pulled through in the end there. I think your desire to not let down Kesey is what's gotten you over the line. You'd be close to Graham and you'd go, oh, bloody Kesey, I can't bloody do it. So that's what my feeling is I bet against you to motivate you And believes in you every step of the way Jason Hoyt It's time to announce Did you give up vaping and smoking For the month of May?
33:04Mike Minogue:Just when you're ready He's got to go
33:10Mike Minogue:Sorry this is quite a long drive I'm sorry. This guy's good, though. It makes me want to have a cigarette. No, see.
33:19Keyzie:I mean, it's really pissing me off now. Pugs, is there a shorter drum roll?
33:26Keyzie:All right, surely we're almost there. Yeah, come on, man.
33:30Mike Minogue:All right, we're almost there.
33:35Mike Minogue:I seriously had no idea it was this long.
33:51Keyzie:Keezy, you need to break open the checkbook, buddy.
33:58Keyzie:Did you fold? I failed, fellas. Did you? Yeah. Yeah. You failed? When? I failed at Magic Round.
34:11Mike Minogue:Cigarettes or vapes? Ciggies. What about now? Are you off them right now?
34:16Keyzie:No.
34:16Mike Minogue:Are you packed?
34:17Keyzie:No, no, no. I'm not on Ciggies. I'm not on Ciggies.
34:22Mike Minogue:So you're vaping.
34:23Keyzie:I'm vaping. Let me talk you through it. Let me talk you through it. Sit down, Mogi.
34:30Mike Minogue:He's running laps in the studio.
34:31Keyzie:Sit down. I'll tell you what happened, actually. I ran out, in terms of getting back to the vaping, I ran out of nicotine gum, And it's a month-long thing that they give you, and you can't renew it until a month's passed. And I was with my wife. This is just before we went to the batch, and I was like, this is really pissing me off. I'm really grumpy, and I don't want to do this anymore. How long ago was that? When do we have a holiday? Two weeks? Oh, a week? Yeah, right. Yeah, and so I said, I'm vaping. And she went, okay. Yeah, right. So I did.
35:12Mike Minogue:How do you feel now? Good?
35:15Keyzie:No, I don't feel good. I feel, you know, I let down Keezy. He's a hundred bucks, you know. Poorer. Poorer, so am I. Well, look, on the bright side, man, sure, Keezy might be sad, but I'm really, really happy. Well, yeah, as evidenced by you running around the desk twice. Now, would I have preferred that you quit? Absolutely. But the beauty of it is, man, is I get a hundred bucks off Keezy. And I'm looking forward to it. We're going to have to work through how that's all going to be presented. We'll talk about that over the coming days.
35:45Mike Minogue:Well, I'll just transfer it to you. No, we'll work something out. It doesn't have to be a big deal. I'll just give it to you.
35:50Keyzie:But incidentally, by the way, I want to say thank you to the person that sent me the Alan Carr give up smoking easy, which I'm halfway through. Oh, yeah. Well, somebody's just texted that through as well. It goes to show, doesn't it? It's not easy. It's not easy giving these bastards up. as we've proved time and time and time again. So if you're thinking about starting, maybe a 20, 21, something like that, can I just recommend that you don't? No. Because it will be with you forever and ever, and it's a constant battle of self-hatred. It's cool in your 20s. At some point it stops being cool, and then you're just stuck with it.
36:30Mike Minogue:Yeah, and it costs a lot of money as well. It costs a lot of money. Wow, I mean.
36:34Keyzie:I mean, it does. It does. Shocking. I cannot believe the oversight. Surely you can do a month. Nah. Oh, it's hard. Oh, look at that. Now the dude's walking past with a durry in his hand. Yeah, cool. I actually go and hit him up.
36:48Mike Minogue:Get out there, Jase. Yeah. Have a victory dart, man. You've earned it. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The Sons of Hauraki. Gotta live this life. Let's see who wants to ride with the street dogs.
37:08Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Hell of a prize. That we gave away our first one on Friday, didn't we, fellas? Fellas? It was Josh, was it? I can't remember, but he was stoked, whoever he was.
37:18Mike Minogue:That's right. I believe it was... Pistol Pete. Pistol Pete. Yeah, yeah, yeah, nice. Kane, the mad bastard. Yeah, Kane, the mad bastard. He'll be riding around the port hills there. We're talking about a street dog electric motorbike made right here in New Zealand, by the way. Not important. It's a New Zealand company. Yes. You should get a look at these bikes, man. They look like cafe races, but they're electric. Electric, yeah. Silent. So just before how we started the thing, you could hear a motorbike revving. Yes, not accurate. Doesn't make any sense, really. Totally. We tried it without that.
37:50It sort of doesn't really explain it either, so we've just had to go with that as a middle ground. But if you win, don't be fuming that it doesn't make the noise. Yeah, just trust us. They're silent. Yeah, just trust us. You can trust us.
38:02Mike Minogue:Trust the big show.
38:03Keyzie:Good stuff. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Toby, you mad bastard. How's life?
38:08Mike Minogue:Oh, bro. Good. Good. Yourself?
38:11Keyzie:Yeah, good. Thanks, mate. Good, good. What do you do for a crust, Toby?
38:14Mike Minogue:Oh, bro, I just mow lawns and cut hedges, eh? Oh, sicko. Yeah, bad bun. Bad bun.
38:19Keyzie:Good on you, mate. And you like a bit of bike action, do you, Toby?
38:24Mike Minogue:Yeah, bro. Pretty fun, eh? Hurt myself a few times. Yeah. Good on you, man. How many lampposts can you do when you're doing your wheelies, man? Oh, no, I'm not a wheelie sort of guy, eh? Come on, man. Yeah, right, bro. All right, Toby, you're in the draw, mate. You hold the line all right? Legendary. Cheers, bro. Good on you, mate.
38:46Keyzie:Thanks, bro. G'day, Jaden, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, how you going, fellas? Yeah. Good, mate. Good, mate. Good, good, good. Would you like to be a part of our gang, Jaden? Oh, yeah, sounds bloody good. Good stuff, mate. Have you ever been in a gang before, Jaden?
39:02Mike Minogue:I've been in a couple, yeah. A couple of low-key ones. Yeah, nice. Have you ever banged any heads together, man, in your time? A couple in my time, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:13Keyzie:Nah, you've put that life behind you, eh, Jaden?
39:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's right.
39:16Keyzie:You'll have to rev it back up again when you join the fellas. Rev it back up. Hey, Jaden, just incidentally, because we like to know these things, what do you do for a crust, mate? I'm in pest control.
39:26Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah. I hear what he's saying. Could you be our pest control for the gang? Oh, yeah. Yeah, probably could, probably could. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So if we say, oh, look, these guys are being pesty, we send old Jaden around. And he takes it under control. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jado will sort it. Yeah, Jado. I'll sort it. Good on you, Jaden.
39:45Keyzie:Stay on the line, mate. Pugs will sort you out. And finally, Eddie, how's life?
39:51Mike Minogue:Oh, life's good, mate. Just pulled back up home, and now I'm just sitting in my car, not wanting to go inside. Yeah, that's right. How many kids have you got? I've got two kids today. It's not that I'm worried about. I hear you.
40:04Keyzie:Tell me, Eddie, what do you do for a crust, mate?
40:08Mike Minogue:Not much, mate. I'm just project manager. Oh, that's the one, man.
40:13Keyzie:Organiser, eh? Good stuff. And you ever owned a bike, Eddie?
40:17Mike Minogue:Oh, I did. I did when I had very small pubes, but now it's been a while. It's been a while. Yeah, good on you, mate. Because you've got a massive bush now, Eddie.
40:29Mike Minogue:He's growing them out, man. And it became so big that he couldn't ride a bike anymore, so he had to get rid of it. Yeah, yeah. It makes sense. It's like sitting on a cloud, though. Yeah, I don't know. Totally. Eddie, you're in the draw, mate. You hold the line all right? Beautiful. Good on you, mate.
40:42Keyzie:Good stuff, eh, old Eddie? Backbone. Yeah. See, he's from West Auckland there. Oh, West Auckland, eh, Keezy? Yeah, you've sort of put that behind you now, haven't you, Jase? Yeah, well in the past. How is West Auckland, Keezy?
40:56Mike Minogue:West Auckland goes good, Jase. They miss you out there, man. Yeah, pobs. Nah, they don't actually. Do you guys like the pixies? Oh, I like pixies. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
41:10Keyzie:Pixies there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Are we fizzing, fellas? Whoa, I tell you what. I'll tell you what, we've been building up to this one for weeks. We've got a huge event happening in six. Very early in six, fellas. One of us is going to get an opportunity to push the button that is going to light up the Sky Tower. It's going to be green because of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, which we've just kicked into, Keezy.
41:36Mike Minogue:That's right. We've got a day in lieu. It is returning. This time we're going to be doing it from the top of the Sky Tower, which is exciting. Yeah. 12-hour straight live broadcast, and that is all in the name of raising funds for bowel cancer New Zealand and raising awareness as well. So if you'd like to donate, text LUE to 3483 right now. You can also get an online symptom checker at dayinlue.co.nz. But after six, we will announce who gets to push the big button and who gets to light up the sky. Geez, I hope it's me. Fellas, I really do. Oh, me, me.
42:07Keyzie:Pick me. Pick me. Pick me.
42:12Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
42:18Keyzie:Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday night is going off. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Yum. Yeah, good stuff, fellas. I could use some Reburger right now, to be honest. But hey, the time has come. We are fired up.
42:41Keyzie:One of us tonight is going to get to press the button to light up the Sky City Tower.
42:53Mike Minogue:This is called the Sky Tower. It's the Sky Tower, man. Why did you call it the Sky City Tower? Oh, no, man. It just came to me. That is so rad. All that build-up and excitement, too. And cooked it. Just to then say the tower name wrong. Nah, you're all good, Jase.
43:07Keyzie:Thanks, man.
43:08Mike Minogue:This is exciting. This is one of the biggest things we've ever done. Basically, we've got a big poll happening right now on the Hodaki Big Show's Instagram story. Who gets to push the button to light up the Sky Tower? Now, we're going to do it here, right? We're going to announce it. It's going to be live. All right, well, first of all, we have to bring in old Pugsan, who's in the studio with us. Ooh, it's PugSong. Evening, fellas. How are we? G'day, Pugs. Thanks for having me. Thank you for organising this.
43:34Keyzie:You've been behind the scenes working on this for months. For months, man. This is huge.
43:39Mike Minogue:Some have said jokes. Yeah, yes. Passion project, really, to be honest. Yes, it is. And it's all coming to fruition. Up next, one of us will push the button. The Sky Tower will turn green in support of bowel cancer awareness. Now, it is really exciting, particularly for you, Pugs, because you are such a huge fan of the Sky Tower and it being built. You've got so many facts coming out your ears. Hit us with a quick one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the first fact is I didn't know I was such a massive fan of the Sky Tower, but I am in big support of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month that day in Loon. So just pop in the burst of the bubble.
44:10You're pretending. Come on, man. You're one of the biggest. You're one of the biggest lovers. Just one fact while you hang me out to dry.
44:15Mike Minogue:Just one fact. One fact about the Sky Tower. The Sky Tower is in Auckland City, New Zealand. See that, man? This guy gets it.
44:23Keyzie:I spoke to his mum at his birthday party, and she was talking about, he used to draw pictures of the Sky Tower, and they'd be hanging up all that. He had posters of the Sky Tower. As soon as he could talk, all he wanted was a toy Sky Tower.
44:35Mike Minogue:Actually, I talked to his mum at his party as well, and she said that when Pugs was a little boy, he wanted to be the Sky Tower when he grew up. That's so true. And I was talking to your mum at your birthday party. Why are we all talking to my mum so much? And she said that when you're a teenager, you're always having a go at yourself. I actually have another fact about the Sky Tower is that Day and Lou's going to be there on Thursday, June 25th from 6am
44:58Keyzie:and we're going to be there too, fellas Alright, well, let's go to the big pole and find out the results The big pole
45:14Mike Minogue:I was thinking, could we use that same drum roll from before? No, I've got a shorter one Okay, so how do you want to do it? Let's go fourth, third, first Okay, so fourth place With 10 % of the votes on the big poll Mike Minogue Bullshit Sorry, Mogey Third place With 14 % Oh, Keezy Damn it!
45:37Keyzie:Sorry, Keezy
45:39Mike Minogue:Come on, come on Who is first? Who gets to push the button? Here we go Come on, come on First place 38 % equal Jase and Pugs. What? We both have 38 % of the vote, Jase. It was neck and neck for the last two hours. Who's going to push the button? There's only one button. You can't both push it. Well, I think you have to tape your four fingers together and then push it at the same time. That's the only thing that makes sense. Yeah.
46:12Keyzie:Look. As captain of the ship, you're not captain. Yeah, you're captain Hoody. it's probably down to me to take that awesome responsibility, even though I know it's your dream, Pugs, but we want to capture this live, and I'm just thinking you on the phone is probably better than me on the phone.
46:31Mike Minogue:Like filming? Yeah. Oh, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, it's his dream, and when he was a kid, he used to, you know, have a go.
46:36Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, but there'll be another opportunity.
46:42Mike Minogue:Jase, I would be... There's plenty of opportunities for you to have a go. You know, the only thing that would give me greater joy than to press that button would be to hand that joy over to somebody else like you, man, and share the love and do it in the name of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. So, Jase, it's all you, brother. Kia car. So up next, we'll be live as Jase pushes the button to turn the Sky Tower green. And this is serious. We're doing it. So if you're in Auckland and if you're driving in your car or wherever you are, keep an eye out because the Sky Tower is about to turn green thanks to Woody J.
47:13Responsibly.
47:14Mike Minogue:Are you green with envy, Pugs? Yeah, man. There's White Stripes. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Bit of bush there on the Hauraki Big Show. You've got old Keezy here with Mogi and Hoi DJ as well. We are outside the studio. That's why we sound a bit distorted. We're coming to you via a telephone. The reason we're outside is that Hoi DJ has won the privilege. He is going to be turning on the Sky Tower. It's going to be... Calm down, Mogi. Calm down. We haven't started yet. It's going to be bright green to support Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Jase, you've got an iPad in hand with a big button on it and you've got the special Sky Tower lighting hat on.
47:54Mike Minogue:How are you feeling at the moment? Look, I've got to be honest with you, Keezy.
47:58Keyzie:I've waited my whole life for this. I'm feeling pretty anxious. You know how I am with technology. But I've got my special green Sky City hat on for when I light up the tower and we're going to have to have a bit of a countdown, fellas. Well, we are live, I think, on Instagram at the moment. You can jump over there and have a geez. You'll be able to see what's amazing. I didn't know that they did this, but they actually provide, Sky provide a special hat that the person that is lighting up the Sky Tower has to wear, and it's sort of a green fedora with a feather on. It is a bizarre thing, but I like that kind of tradition, Keith.
48:35Mike Minogue:100 % Mogey. So this is not a joke either. If you are in Auckland right now and you can see the Sky Tower, please do so safely. but pull over. Eyes on the Sky Tower. It's going to light up green thanks to Hoity J. Any moment. Should we do a countdown? Alright fellas. 100. 99. 98. 97. Should we skip forward? 33. Okay from 5. Alright ready? 5.
49:02Keyzie:4. 3.
49:04Mike Minogue:2. 1.
49:05Keyzie:Go Hoity J! Nothing's happening. What? Nothing's happening.
49:15Mike Minogue:What's going on? Nothing's happening. What do you do? Oh, it's so good. It's not working. We knew we were going to give Jason a job. He had one job. I think I've been the light tower. I would have done it, Jay. Here we go. He's got two jobs. One was to wear the hat, which is absolutely... Oh! It's great. It's great. All it took was for somebody 10 years younger to push the button, and it's worth a treat. Look at that. Turn it off again, Jay. Turn it off. Hit the middle of the button. Yeah, now wait. Yeah, this is good stuff. This is good listening. It's absolutely beautiful. The whole thing is lit up.
49:52The shaft all the way to the tip, right at the very top there. It's an absolutely beautiful piece of architecture. Oh, look at that. We're back on again. So there you go. Bell Cancer Month is all of this month. We're doing a day in lieu, which is going to be a hell of an occasion. We'll be at the top of Sky Tower with a whole bunch of guests broadcasting for 12 hours across the day. And what a special occasion. Jase, how does this rate in terms of the great moments in your life? You've achieved a hell of a lot. This has got to be right up there.
50:26Keyzie:Look, I've got to be honest with you, Moggy. It was a very special occasion. And I don't think I'll have an experience like it again in my life. To be able to put on the hat and to light up the tower. Here we go. I'm going to do it again. Look at this. very special man
50:43Mike Minogue:very special yeah good stuff yeah and just for anyone right now looking up at the Sky Tower it is currently flashing on and off screen that is Hoody J on the buttons making it flash so there you go isn't that exciting anyway that's enough of us on the phone don't forget text Lou to 3483 for a link to donate Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and Thursday in a few weeks time the 25th I believe it is we're going to be up the Sky Tower raising funds and awareness for bowel cancer Just some ads now. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
51:17Keyzie:Linkin Park there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. The time is 6.30. I tell you what, fellas, the adrenaline's still pumping through my body. Holy hecka.
51:28Mike Minogue:Yeah, if you've just joined us, Jace just got to put on the special Sky Tower hat and push the button to light up the Sky Tower. It's bright green at the moment. If you were listening, you would have seen it flashing on and off. That was us on the buttons, eh, fellas? Pretty exciting.
51:41Keyzie:It was great stuff, eh? But in the meantime, it's time for...
51:43Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, hey, guys. Text here from Steve.
51:47Keyzie:What's for D? T.
51:49Mike Minogue:Yeah, what's for D? Yeah. Yeah, what's for D? Formerly, what's for T, New Zealand? Now, I don't know what it is, but basically it's still the same segment. You text through on 3483 what you are having for dinner. Chicken Marabella. What is chicken marabella, Jase? Yeah, Jase, man
52:11Keyzie:It's chicken with dates Olives Capers And roasted veggies
52:20Mike Minogue:Is there a sauce on it? It's a tomato-y bastard
52:23Keyzie:No, it's not no tomato It's quite marinate-y What does that mean? Yeah, there is a sauce
52:29Mike Minogue:Like a jus I got jus Nice, Moggy Lots of texts coming through. 3483. Our favourite ones. We'll dish out some re-burger vouchers, which is bloody exciting. G'day there, fellas. This is from Anonymous. Nah, just joking. It's from Anne. Oh, Anne Hathaway. Anne of Green Gables. Anne Hathaway. G'day, fellas. Anne Hathaway here. Tonight I'm having fish burgers. A little bit of lettuce, a little bit of tomato, a little bit of red onion, a little bit of cucumber, a little bit of tasty cheese, a little bit of mayo. Cheers, Anne Hathaway. Yeah, I actually tuned out there because I was thinking about trying to make a joke out of Anne Hathaway of words.
53:09Anne Hathaway with words. I just completely tuned out. And I was thinking to myself there, even if I get this, it's probably not going to be good. Verdict?
53:18Keyzie:I don't mind a fish burger. Quite fond of a good fish burger. I love a fish burger. I didn't think Anne Hathaway would be into that. Well, how do you know what Anne Hathaway's into?
53:27Mike Minogue:God, believe me, I know.
53:28Keyzie:Believe me, we do.
53:30Mike Minogue:But you know her so intimately You know that she hath away with words Does she have chips with that? Well wouldn't you know? No just tonight though I mean I know she loves her chips But she's also sometimes She can be keeping an eye on Having too many calories Empty calories Yeah it's hard when you're an actor Yeah it is She's saying yeah chips tonight Oh Cheers Anne Hathaway What's her last name though? That's her middle name Is it? Yeah Anne Hathaway Oh she just takes it through With words and Hathaway with words. Another text here on 3483. G'day, fellas. Robert here. De Niro. Redford. Nah, that's not right.
54:12Mike Minogue:Can't be. Why's that? Oh, I don't want to get into it. Oh, okay. It's De Niro. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Rotisserie chicken and broccoli salad. Cheers, Robert De Niro. Rotisserie chicken and just a broccoli salad. Yeah. It actually might be all right. It depends on the salad, of course. I could live with that. I could live with that. What else do you put in there? Is it normally a feta and an almond? What else is in a broccoli salad?
54:35Keyzie:Raisins sometimes? No. What? Red onion? Red onion, feta cheese, and nuts. I'm totally in. Your sunflower, your pine nuts. Seeds. Oh, broccoli. And broccoli. You can do it without that, though, can't you? You could. Do you replace it? You don't have to. You can just take it out.
54:54Mike Minogue:Take the broccoli out. Just eat onion.
54:56Keyzie:Just have seeds and onion and feta.
54:59Mike Minogue:That sounds so good. What about this one here from Jacob? G'day, fellas. Jacob here. The muss. It's Jacob the muss. He's going by Jacob these days. Tonight, me and the missus are having a few pork snags and a beautiful cheesy potato bake. Oh, yeah. I love the potato bake. I like the sound of that. That's good winter fare. It is. I love snags. I love saucies. Yeah, yeah, you do. Like a good saucy.
55:23Keyzie:You know what we had the other night, fellas, which we bought from a market. weirdly was a pie. It was a beef and mushroom and portofino mushrooms and all sorts of stuff in it. Like a big family pie. A big family pie with mashed potatoes. Do you know, we're running my food bag at the moment. Yes. Or one of the food bags. I won't get specific about which one it is. It's my food bag though, isn't it? Because you've already said it. And on the box, they said a meal for one. A meal for one. And on the box it said, just one of the giveaways that they do now and again. And on the front of the box it said steak and mushroom pie.
55:58And I opened it up and it was some kind of a lamb atrocity with mashed potatoes and carrots.
56:04Mike Minogue:Oh, you're joking. That's not a, unless I'm mistaken, is that a steak and mushroom potato top pie? Not that I can tell, no. No, no. So I've had an absolute shocker there. An absolute shocker. So by giving Mogey by accident some sort of delicious lamb meal, they've now been slammed on the radio. It's great. Well. It wasn't my food bag. It was definitely one of the other ones though. I can't remember which one it was. Good news is, Mogi, you've won a$50 Reburger voucher, man. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
56:37Keyzie:Blog party there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. The time is 6.43, and it was a big weekend, of course, fellas. Long weekend, extra day off. But also, excuse me, the King's Birthday Awards. The honours list. The King's Birthday Awards.
56:54Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah, the King's Birthday honours list. Listen, I know, Jase, probably you too, Mike, you've been keeping an eye out seeing if your name's going to get pulled one of these days. Yes. Bloody exciting times. You know, Keiser, you can nominate people, man. The way that it works is anybody can do it. For example, you. Doesn't it have to be someone who's already got it? No, no, no, no. Anybody, anybody. So, for example, you. Right, okay. I'll send you that just so you can see what it looks like. 100 % we should try and do it. You can just fill it out for, let's say, me and Jase. Okay, let's do it.
57:24And it's pretty straightforward. Get a couple of people behind it. Next thing you know, Boom. Sir Mogey. Sir Jizz. Sir Jizz.
57:32Keyzie:Yes. I was actually acknowledged this year. Really? Oh, were you? Yes. Did you get a nod? Yes, I did. For services to reality TV narration. Oh, yeah. For Dog Squad. Yeah, right. But it's funny, isn't it, Mogey? You forget all the other great shows they did over the years as well, and I guess they took all those into consideration. I can't even remember them. They're so far back.
57:59Mike Minogue:Yeah, weird that you can't remember them, but they would remember them and they'd honour you. Yeah, yeah. Crazy. But we'll go through the list, fellas, of people that have been honoured. This is the King's Birthday Honours for 2026. Yeah, okay. We'll start with the dames. Dame Companion of the Order, Mrs. Susan Jean Hassel, ONZM, for services to education. Did she get one? Yeah, is she not? Do you know her? This is the thing, man. Here sits Woody J. He's got nothing. An old hassle. Yeah. She's a dame? Are you kidding me? I don't know anything about her. Oh, right, okay. So you don't think she deserves one?
58:39Keyzie:But let's be fair, Maggie. Are you surprised with her? No, no. No, no.
58:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. Well, what about Professor Elizabeth Mary Rata for services to education also? Professor of literature. Come on. Yeah, yeah. Literature. No, her name is Professor Elizabeth Mary Rata. Well, her name isn't Professor. Well, no, I guess her title now is Dame Professor. Yeah, Dame Professor. It's actually Professor takes the higher rank. So it's Professor Dame. Yes. Professor Dame Elizabeth Mary Rata for services to education. Rolls off the tongue.
59:11Keyzie:Mind you, having said that, everyone's a bloody professor these days, aren't they? Yeah, that's right. Are you one? I saw a guy on Instagram and he was called a professor and he just played basketball.
59:20Mike Minogue:Oh, that's the professor. Well, he's a professor. I don't know if he's the professor. The Knights, Dr. Paul Andrew Bates. Yeah, they're getting cold, eh?
59:37Yeah,
59:40Mike Minogue:that'll do. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
59:59Keyzie:Well, there you go. That's so cool, fellas.
1:00:02Mike Minogue:Well done. Haughty J's in a silly mood ever since he put that funny hat on. He put his fiddle-dee-dee hat on, didn't he?
1:00:11Keyzie:Oh, it was such an honour. It was awesome. Hey.
1:00:14Mike Minogue:If you don't know what we're talking about, by the way, podcast highlights come out tonight at 7.30pm.
1:00:19Keyzie:Yes, true. Now, listen, now we do a podcast outro, which is sort of a warm-up to the show, really. where you can get a bit R18 at times. Not always. Not always. Sometimes. What's the clip today, Keezy? Today we were discussing different breeds of dogs. Other dogs she couldn't care less. Right. Poodles, she hated them. Yeah. Would just go berserk at them.
1:00:41Mike Minogue:I'm trying to hold back the joke here. It's like you walking past. Yeah, because I'm so racist.
1:00:55That was meant to be a surprise.
1:00:58Mike Minogue:Hey, the podcast outro comes out at 7.30 tonight along with the highlights package I mentioned earlier. Nice package. Really good.
1:01:04Keyzie:I know you're fizzing about dinner. You don't know what it is, Moggy, but you're very hopeful that it's going to be something that you can enjoy. Well, we're actually pretty bad communicators when it comes to the dinner because there'll be times where I'm in here and I'll eat something and so I'm not hungry when I get home. My wife may have cooked something and so then she's fuming because I'm not hungry anymore. But I say I'll take it for lunch tomorrow. Yes. That's a good solution. But other times she might have eaten at work, so she's not hungry, so she's cooked nothing. So I'm starving, I walk through the door, there's nothing there, Keezy.
1:01:35Oh, man. Well, get something yourself, you say, and absolutely, I've got no problem with that at all. I'm not sexist.
1:01:40Mike Minogue:Who's saying I'm sexist? I don't know. No one, man. I've got butterfly chicken and a pumpkin salad at home. Pumpkin salad.
1:01:49Keyzie:I feel like you had butterfly chicken not long ago, Keezy. Yeah, I'm worrying that you're doubling up on your meals a little bit.
1:01:56Mike Minogue:I think I had a butterfly chicken two weeks ago. I think it was more recent. It was very, very recent. It was not very, very recent. I think it was Friday. Yeah, you definitely did. No, no, no, it wasn't Friday. It was definitely recent. You're right, last week I had one. I'm sorry. I'll have a three-week break. But look. We have a bet whether I can make it.
1:02:15Keyzie:And you've already had your noodles today too, didn't you?
1:02:17Mike Minogue:Yeah, okay. Coughing like a bastard, you were.
1:02:19Keyzie:Yeah, it was spicy. What are you having tonight, Jase? Chicken Marabella. Yummy, man. With roasted vegetables and all sorts. And a delicious homemade apple pie.
1:02:36Mike Minogue:It's over 7 o 'clock now, by the way. We're currently working for free. With vanilla ice cream.
1:02:41Keyzie:That sounds delicious. Hey, check out the podcast. Check out the Instagram. Till tomorrow. See you later. Goodbye. Bye.
