0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. Really big.

0:13Keyzie:With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad boss. It's great to have your company this Friday afternoon. It is the 28th of August, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.

0:28Mike Minogue:Craig Worthy street food freshly made with re-burger. We're going to need a bigger burger. Yum, yum, yum, yum.

0:41Keyzie:Yeah, so good. G'day, Mogey, you stallion. How's life? You're going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you're 600. Look, another Friday upon us, you fellas. What a huge nine days we had. Leading into this with the goat no-one knows from Queensland, of the Stone Age at number one as of about 6pm last night. And God, I've just felt run ragged today. Yeah. Absolutely exhausted, drained of all my adrenaline. Yes. All my endorphins gone, Keezy. But we'll be gassing it up this weekend because it's a huge one.

1:12Mike Minogue:It is a huge one. With old hoody J's come dine with the Fjellas on Sunday. We've got the Waz, we've got the All Black. Yeah, man. I'm going to go and see the latest Paw Patrol movie with my daughter.

1:20Keyzie:Oh, wow. Oh, how good is that? This might be the best weekend ever. Yeah, man. Sounds like it.

1:26Mike Minogue:I know what you mean, though, Moke. I feel like someone's just completely run through me, you know, and I'm the day after the goat. Yeah, and just. How do you mean, like, run through you? You've had someone run through you? Like on a footy field. Oh, yeah, yeah. Like I've tried to tackle them. Why? What are you guys?

1:41Keyzie:Familiar feeling, then.

1:43Mike Minogue:Yeah, 100%. Like I've gone to tackle them and they've absolutely run through me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tights, tight. You're in a lot of highlight videos, aren't you, Keezy? Sure, yeah. None of them are mine, though. Boomfa. Yeah. The dude. Yeah, sort of goofy guy goes flying. How are you, Jase?

2:03Keyzie:Well, I'm like you fellas, to be honest. I feel like I've been hit by a train. A train? Yeah. Have you had a train run through you? A train has run through me. A train has absolutely run through me, Jase. Oh, God. But I tell you what, I reckon I've got just enough in the tank for a massive Friday show. Oh, yeah. Well, we've got a massive throbber out the back of the goat from yesterday. Today is going to be a massive one.

2:27Mike Minogue:Actually, Mogi, what is coming up today?

2:33Mike Minogue:What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogi? Well, I'm really glad you asked me that one because over the last nine days, I haven't had to do that. So when you've just asked me that, don't worry about it. I'm fully prepared. As discussed, we've got the throbber coming up later on the show. I'm just warning you now. I'm warning you now. Mine is an absolute belter. Yeah, good stuff. Do you want to know the name of the band? Yeah. Can't tell you. I didn't want to get an asterisk there. We're going to have a bit of a yarn about the Waz, another big game for them coming up Sunday afternoon game.

3:07Very exciting.

3:08Mike Minogue:Of course, a chance to get yourself in the draw to potentially go to the grand final or Bathurst. Oh, yeah. With Would You Rather. Listen up for that kid of call. And we are going to do next a whole lot of come down with me, chat with Jase, who is going to announce here live his menu for Sunday afternoon. I'm soosed.

3:27Keyzie:It's going to raise a few eyebrows, I think. But in the meantime, here's Green Day.

3:32Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Royal Blood

3:38Keyzie:on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. Just a reminder too, it's Frowd Out Shire Day, so if you've got any Frowd Out 3, 4, 8, 3, send them through, fellas. Shoutouts, of course.

3:50Mike Minogue:Hey, fellas, this Sunday, huge day, 2pm we all meet at Casa del Jizz, a.k.a. Hoody J's house, for Come Dine With Me. Yeah, man. Come Dine With The Fellas. The Fellas. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert, jeez. Also, Pugsan's here too.

4:09Keyzie:Ooh, it's Pugsan. Is he going to be at the dinner? Afternoon.

4:15Mike Minogue:Oh. Hey, Jase. Hey, Pugs. He will be at the dinner as well. And his partner, The Way It Works, Mogi, you hosted the first one. We all went round there, had a lovely time with our partners, and you do the old, what are the categories? That's a great question, Keezer. You do the entree, the main, the dessert, and a bit of entertainment. And so out of a possible 40, being a 10 out of 10 for all four of those categories. That's right. So three couples will do their score out of 40, you combine them all, and then we end up with a score out of 10. so I ended up with 8.17

4:45Keyzie:yeah good stuff on average it's pretty damn good bloody good it's really good bloody good

4:49Mike Minogue:Jase you're hosting us this weekend your theme is late winter Christmas yeah man

4:55Keyzie:yeah man it's good stuff

4:59Mike Minogue:I'm glad you think so talk us through it man because of course today you've got to announce the menu

5:04Keyzie:well the exciting thing too is today I'll tell you what's been bugging me the most yes Bloody entertainment. And I was effing and jeffing this morning about it, but it's sorted. You've got some entertainment. Yes. Hopefully it's standing at your window and watching the drug deals go down outside. There you go. Thank you. Bang on. Thank you. Now, I believe what we did last time, Muggie, if I'm correct, I have to announce my menu. Yes. And I can already see the look of horror on all your faces.

5:38Mike Minogue:Right. So you've got a starter, a main, and a dessert. Yes. Okay.

5:43Keyzie:I'm just going to blaze through it, all right, fellas?

5:45Mike Minogue:Hang on. I'm just trying to find some instrumental Christmas music to put underneath it. Okay, good. All right, here we go. Ready? Yeah.

5:54Keyzie:Well, that's just really naff. It's going to make my menu sound really naff. It's probably going to sound naff anyway, but hey, here we go. Let's go. Entree. A Christmas tree pull-apart with mini savoury cheesecakes.

6:06Mike Minogue:Hang on, hang on, hang on. Wait, wait, wait. A pull-apart Christmas tree. Oh, like a garlic twist. Wow, yum.

6:12Keyzie:We'll have to wait and see. Can you, one more time. A Christmas tree pull-apart with mini savoury cheesecakes. With mini savoury cheesecake. Now, cheesecake typically a dessert. Yes, typically sweet. You're going with that at the start. Are they? I love the sound of it. Jase, you've got my curiosity. Yes.

6:33Mike Minogue:Now, is the Christmas tree pull-apart, it's savoury, and then are the little cheesecakes like the presents? I think this is all you're going to get. No, no. Because you get the name of it. Yes.

6:44Keyzie:I'm not going to go into the details too much. Okay. Okay, fellas, because it's like winter Christmas. Here's your main. Glazed ham on the bone, roasted whole cauliflower with spices, a Fatoosh salad, duck fat roasted potatoes, non-duck fat roasted potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts with honey balsamic dressing. Yes, now the roast cauliflower head there, that's for your vegetarian. Yes, that's your ham equivalent. Well, yes. I mean, as a vegan, I've had that dish before, and that is a tricky one. And in fact, I think I've had it at a really expensive restaurant, and I don't know why people think you want to eat a head of cauliflower, but sometimes they do.

7:28Yeah. It's a lot harder to do well than you would think.

7:32Keyzie:I've got no doubt.

7:34Mike Minogue:What was the, did you see the word dedusion there somewhere? No, Fatoosh. Oh, Fatoosh. What is that? It's a salad. Can I say, Fatoosh, one of my partner's favourite salads. There you go. So you'll have luck there, mate. There you go. Now then also, you've got the duck fat. Roasted potatoes. Roasted potatoes. And also non-duck fat.

7:50Keyzie:Yeah, well, just again catering to a vegetarian. That's right. What's interesting about it is, and this will have dawned on you already, and it will be even clearer on Sunday, is what a pain in the ass it is having a vegetarian. 100%. Oh, my God. Absolute ball-like. It's so hard. Now, I say that with all the love in the world, having been a vegan for four years and having really no idea what a punish I was being for other people. But it certainly adds another dimension and an extra couple of hours a week. I actually like it because it forces me to get outside my square. You know, in terms of thinking of food.

8:25Keyzie:Right. You know what I mean? So you come up with duck fat potatoes and non-duck fat potatoes. Jeez, you must have been sitting at the computer for a while. But and my cauliflower head. Oh, I know what I'll do. And my fatouche salad. And my roasted Brussels sprouts with honey and balsamic glaze. That's mean.

8:42Mike Minogue:Is a cauliflower outside the square?

8:45Keyzie:Well, I've never roasted a whole cauliflower with spices. Yeah. And it is actually quite tricky. I'm a bit worried about it. I'm worried about all of it.

8:52Mike Minogue:I'm freaking out as well.

8:54Keyzie:And finally, of course, for dessert, pavlova with fresh berries. Oh. Hard.

9:00Mike Minogue:Hard to do a pav. Pavlova is tricky now. Now, obviously, Jase, you will be cooking this yourself. Yes. Yeah. Okay, and so the good thing you've done here is it's... My immediate feeling based on his reaction there is that he's not doing it.

9:12Keyzie:No, I am. You're doing the pav by yourself. The pav, there may be done by my sous chef. Yeah, this is why I'm saying. Oh, that's okay. Yeah. That's okay. You will get marked down for it.

9:23Mike Minogue:But a pav's great because you can cook it and then pull it out and actually put the cream and stuff on it. It takes five minutes, but you pre-prepare it, so it's smart.

9:30Keyzie:Yeah, and berries and stuff. There may also, with that, be meringues. So like mini pavlovas. Yeah, like mini pavlovas with a bit of whipped cream. I'm still thinking about savoury cheesecake, man. I've never had that before. I have no idea what to expect. Well, I was saying, my daughter, who's a real foodie, she was like, I'm intrigued by that. I want to know what it is.

9:52Mike Minogue:That's more outside the square than a cauliflower head. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A cauliflower head, you know, you open the oven door, you fling a cauliflower in there. You know what I mean? Let's fit in there. Yeah, exactly. That's what he's done in no time flat. Dedeesh, dedeesh, dedeesh. I'm excited. Hoi DJ, this Sunday, 2pm, of course, Pugs will be filming it, chucking it up on social media as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we'll be covering it to no end next week on the Hauraki Big Show.

10:14Keyzie:Oh, yeah, good stuff. Here's red hot chilli peppers.

10:20Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

10:26Keyzie:Yes indeed, Sheeha there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.27.

10:33Mike Minogue:Jase, you are hosting us this Sunday. Come dine with me. And 2pm. I'm bloody excited. You've just talked us through the menu late winter Christmas.

10:40Keyzie:How are we feeling about it, fellas? You feeling okay about it? What, the menu? Yeah.

10:45Mike Minogue:Yeah, I am. Sounds delicious. Yeah, good.

10:47Keyzie:It sounds delicious. Yeah, look, I've got some concerns. My first question is, is it okay if I have sous chefs? You can do whatever you want. Oh, okay. But you'll mark me accordingly? I think so. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, if other people are doing the work, yeah.

11:08Mike Minogue:But what if it's...

11:08Keyzie:It might be just chopping stuff and stuff like that.

11:11Mike Minogue:What if it's Mrs. Hoity J helping? Like, it's a team effort. You're hosting together, right? Well, no, because come down with the fellas. Well, certainly put it this way. I did, on mine, I did everything. Yeah. She poured the drinks when you guys arrived. Mrs. Muggy was doing this and that, handing out cutlery.

11:31Keyzie:Yeah, but I'm talking about the cooking. Okay, this is my other issue. Little Jizz. Oh, yeah. My cat.

11:39Mike Minogue:Your cat, what about him? Jizz. Yeah. Oh, sorry, I just assumed Jizz was a male.

11:45Keyzie:Why would you assume that? I don't know. I've been talking recently about the fact that she's having some behavioural issues Oh yeah She used to be an outside cat, you know what I mean? She used to love getting the old skinks and geckos and birds She loved it And now of course she's cooped up in a little apartment Yeah And she is genuinely, I believe, going nuts

12:10Mike Minogue:Right, how does she do, like what is she doing?

12:13Keyzie:Well she'll have a little swipe at you with her claws She'll bite you on the head. She'll bite your arm. She'll scratch your legs. She'll bite your ankle. Like when I'm nude, fully nude in the morning going up to make coffee, she'll have a go.

12:27Mike Minogue:Yeah, right.

12:27Keyzie:How does she bite your head? Well, she'll be.

12:30Mike Minogue:What's your towel is over Jase.

12:31Keyzie:You know, she'll often be sitting on your chest or whatever and just lunge. Right. Okay. And it used to be kind of cute, but now it's actually getting quite bad. Right. Like my wife last night, she was not impressed and was like, Jizz! Yeah. Because it was a nasty bite. And she showed me it today and it was like, jeez. So, I mean, I just want to put you guys on notice now that Jizz isn't in a good place mentally and she may just randomly attack you. Surely you'd put her in a room or... Well, you see, this is the thing. I mean, I do want to confine her even more. She'll go insane if I put her in the room.

13:14Mike Minogue:But, like, Jizz, if Jizz, like, attacks my wife's leg or something. Yeah. My wife's actually allergic to cats.

13:20Keyzie:Yeah. Severely.

13:21Mike Minogue:She's not severely, but she is allergic to cats.

13:24Keyzie:She get a bit phlegmy or something or a bit wheezy.

13:26Mike Minogue:No, she'll take an antihistamine. It's just sneezy, you know. Yeah. So, you know, to be honest. If that cat tries to attack my wife, I will be forced to defend her. Okay. All right? All right. I'll leave it at that. All right? Yeah. To be honest, if that cat attacks Moggy's wife, I'll also be forced to help.

13:47But you like the menu though, right? Oh, now the menu I like. It's more when you cook the things on the menu. That's what I'm worried about.

13:58Mike Minogue:Yeah. Okay. But I'm sure it'll be great, Jase. I'm sure it'll be great, especially when the wahs are on at four. That'll be great. That's going to be great.

14:04Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. Oh, the wahs, that's right.

14:06Mike Minogue:Actually, speaking of the Waz, keep an ear out because would you rather, there's a competition we're running at the moment, would you rather go to Bathurst or the grand final of the NRL? High chance the Waz could be there this year. How good? Acutical is going to be playing soon. When you hear it, 0800 Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. One simple question. One weekend of a lifetime.

14:30Keyzie:Would you rather? Yes, indeed. Yes. the NRL Grand Final or Bathurst.

14:39Mike Minogue:That's right. Both happening in the month of October. Of course, Bathurst for any petrolhead, like myself. Yeah, it's tempting for me too. I'm a petrolhead from way back. Really? Yeah. But to be honest, if the WARS, you know, if they keep going, how they're going? Yeah, true. The Grand Final's a real possibility. It's not a certainty, but I know which one I'd be choosing. But we have a queue to call this out. It's just played. We've got another one in the next hour as well. So if you don't get through, that's all G. Just keep listening. Should we go to the Lions family, please?

15:06Keyzie:Yeah, I think so. G'day, Zane. How's life? Oh, is it Zane? Just on the way to work.

15:13Mike Minogue:Sorry? Just on the way to work.

15:15Keyzie:Yeah, going good. Good on you, man. Yeah, good on you, mate. Good stuff. So what would be your preference, Zane? Would you like the NRL grand final or Bathurst, your backbone? Oh, absolutely the grand final NRL. I've been a wide fan for a long time, and fingers crossed that they'll make the final.

15:33Mike Minogue:Yeah. They're going all right, so. You never know. Good on you, Zane. You never know. You never know. But, hey, what do you do for a crust, by the way? I'm a support person. I support people in the community, live a normal life. Yeah, I work in Hamilton. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Good on you, mate.

15:49Keyzie:You're a massive backbone. Well, good luck with that, Zane. You're in the drawer.

15:54Mike Minogue:Cheers. Thank you so much. We'll just give it to him.

15:56Keyzie:Thank you. Let's just give it to Zane.

15:58Mike Minogue:Well, he sounds like a backbone. He's doing good things in the community. What are you doing, Keezy? Come on, man. I'm doing Sweet FA, to be honest. Thank you. But, you know, it's the first time we've done this comp. We can't just give it to Zane.

16:10Keyzie:Righto. We'll do another one then. G'day, Jamie. How's life? Jamie. Hello. Hi, Jamie. How's life? Life is great. Oh, good stuff. What do you do for a crust, Jamie?

16:25Mike Minogue:I work in property management in Hawke's Bay. Oh, yeah.

16:28Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. How's property going in the old Hawke's Bay there?

16:34Mike Minogue:Rentals are going really well, actually. Great guns, eh? Good, haven't they? What sort of a percentage are you taking off the top there, Jamie? I wish I could take a lot, but it's actually the cheapest industry in New Zealand. Is that right? About 8 % to 10 % probably? I think it's way less than that.

16:52Keyzie:Right, okay. Tell me, Jamie, what would be your preference?

16:57Mike Minogue:My preference would have to be the grand final, up the wards all the way. Thank you.

17:03Keyzie:Tell me, Jamie, who would you take with you?

17:06Mike Minogue:Take my hubby.

17:07Keyzie:He's been a warrior supporter since I started. Good on you, mate. Well, you're in the draw, Jamie. Good luck. Thank you so much. No worries. Good on you. Thank you, Jamie. Oh, I reckon.

17:18Mike Minogue:Big shout out to boystrip.co.nz. You'll be travelling over with them if you want to get a package too. I don't think, actually, packages to the grand final will still be available. I'd say they'll be sold out. But if you want to go on a big trip, magic round, grand final, whatever it might be. No, this one, there are still some available. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was listening to Lane on the agenda and he said there's still some left. Oh, my God. Yes. I'm going to have to go have a look at that. Oh, no. I'm in Japan, damn it. Yeah. Of course, it is Bathurst or the NRL Grand Final. Not just that, too.

18:24Keyzie:Yeah. That's right. Okay. I'll be honest with you, fellas, I've just been ploughing on with a loan. Yeah. which is a reality survival show set this season in Tasmania. They plonk 10 contestants in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the clothes on their back, about 80 kilos of camera gear, and a few odds and sods. And yeah, they have to stay there as long as possible. Last person wins 250k. It's got a New Zealander in it called Shea, who's a possum trapper. It's a bloody tough going. We're down to five now, I think. Yeah. It's bloody good. It's on TVNZ+. Plus, I won't talk about it again until I have finished the season.

19:03Keyzie:Yeah, nice, mate. Nice. I'll be honest with you, fellas. I didn't really watch anything last night. I got home and my wife was at a drama class. Oh, really? Yes. And so I made myself some baked beans on toast. No, I didn't do that, mate. You even had hot pot.

19:21Mike Minogue:Filthy.

19:21Keyzie:No, I didn't.

19:22Mike Minogue:Because when I left you, you said you might have hot pot.

19:25Keyzie:No, I didn't, Keezy.

19:26Mike Minogue:Whoa, okay. Sorry. You had baked beans and...

19:30Keyzie:Vogel's toast.

19:31Mike Minogue:Vogel's toast, yum.

19:32Keyzie:Bit of cracked pepper. What were you watching while you heard that? Is this what's on TV?

19:36Mike Minogue:What are we doing here?

19:36Keyzie:I was watching YouTube, actually. Yeah, yeah. A bit of mukbang.

19:42Mike Minogue:Which is a Korean thing where they just make a big feast and they film themselves eating the whole thing.

19:48Keyzie:Stuffing it into their faces.

19:50Mike Minogue:Yum.

19:51Keyzie:Random, I know. What about you, Kesey?

19:53Mike Minogue:I watched an episode of Outrageous Fortune, season one last night on TVNZ. An episode where Robin Malcolm's character did something naughty. Uh-oh. And I'm not very pleased with her. No. Because I love Cheryl West. Cheryl West, eh? Yes. She's excellent. And I love all of the characters. I love the head police officer, Wayne, who's always following them around and trying to track them down. And also, every single episode makes me burst out loud. It's such a funny show. It is. But it has so many great twists and turns. I can't believe how good it is. Yeah. And it's only been out for 20 years. And everyone always bangs on about it.

20:30Mike Minogue:Great show, but we've only seen Corky, Hoity J's character, on the very first episode. Yeah. However, the thumbnail of the next episode, which I believe is episode 12 maybe, has a photo of Hoity J dressed up in a lawyer outfit. So I can't wait for that.

20:44Keyzie:What do you mean dressed up? Just looking cool. Just a suit, man.

20:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, you're looking cool. Yeah, great stuff. So I'm excited for more Corky action. I'm Corky.

20:52Keyzie:Hey, I'm excited for a bit of LMNOP. This is a tune.

21:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

21:10It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday throbber. Douche, douche. Oh, Jace, eh? A little sneaker. Yeah, you guys did notice last week, but I didn't do the do, douche, douche.

21:22Keyzie:That's because Keezy's so focused on me all the time. And who are you focused on? Just me remembering to do it.

21:30Mike Minogue:The only thing I'm focused on is doing a bloody good radio show, Jase. All right? And good radio shows explain what their segments are.

21:37Keyzie:Well, I'll tell you what the throbber is. It's Friday, so each of us here in the studio, we each pick up what we consider to be a throbber. To kick off your Friday night, get you in the party mode. Then you give us a call on 0800 Hodaki and first of two wins.

21:53Mike Minogue:That's right. We also keep score. Jase, fresh off a victory. Last week we were live in Wellington and you chose Tool. Pressure off two victories, Casey. Oh, really? Back to back, baby. So, are you on seven or eight then? Well, he's on last week, whatever it said, plus one. Because the week before we did it. Yeah, okay. But you chose Tool, Undertow last week and the pub went off. I tell you what, every time we played a song, the crowd reacted by making zero noise. Yeah. It was pumping. But today's srobber, all of us, well, me and Moggy, think we've got a couple of absolute doozies. Yeah. Yes, yes.

22:25Mike Minogue:Yes. So maybe we'll get Jase's one out.

22:27Keyzie:Head to head with old Keezy and Moogie.

22:29Mike Minogue:Yeah. We'll get yours out of the way first, Jase. What song have you chosen? Get it out of the way.

22:33Keyzie:I went a bit of Velvet Revolver, Let It Roll.

22:41You love Jase in this one, eh? I've looked over, I'm a-coming, running. She got eyes that brought life through me, through me. She told me her -

22:52Mike Minogue:Quite a good tune. Candy, candy. Yeah, what was that called?

22:58Keyzie:A Let It Roll by Velvet Revolver.

23:01Mike Minogue:All right. The problem with you, Jase, is you ain't got no backbone. Got no backbone.

23:13That's a song called Backbone from Stormzy. I know where you got that one, Keezy. I see you're playing over the top of a Warriors video earlier this week because it's Valmunger's 50th game. Is that what happened?

23:29Mike Minogue:No. Okay. It's on my list of throbbers. And as I was looking through, I was like, have I chosen Backbone yet? Backbone. Do you have a list of throbbers? I do, yeah. It's about 50, 60 songs long. Wow. Wow. Holy hecka. Fellas, I've gone with some good old-fashioned grunge.

23:48Crank it up. Here come the drums.

24:07Great stuff. Well, there you go. What's that song? It's called Territorial Pissies. Oh, Territorial Pissies. I don't like the fact you played a dial tone over the top of it there, Keezy, but we'll come to that later. It's your choice, New Zealand.

24:19Keyzie:and give us a call on 0800-HAURAKI. In the meantime, it's Arctic Monkeys.

24:25Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

24:30Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Doosh, doosh. Yeah. Good stuff. The Friday Throbber feelers. What's weird about the doosh, doosh that we do there is Jase takes that more seriously than he does the Throbber.

24:46Mike Minogue:And he always looks at me like, ha-ha. I said douche douche I didn't forget this time But the Friday Thrill We each pick an amazing song To get your weekend off To a ripson order You then call us on 0800 Or Hodaki And vote for which one You'd like to hear Yeah totally man Jase you went first What was the name of yours?

25:01Keyzie:Velvet Revolver Let it roll

25:14Mike Minogue:That's a nice tune from there I've never heard it It's a neat little tune I chose a song Come on man It's a sassy little number I chose a song called Backbone From Stormzy You ain't got no Backbone I get out the trap I ain't got a trap phone I got P's And M's And K's And O's They're a licker We're like So I'm letting No He stole that from us By the way He's got kilos and ounces Keezy Hell yeah he does Yeah boy And Mogi I've gone with Territorial Pissings By Nirvana Cause it's got a guitar in it Yeah man It's got some drums in it.

25:59Keyzie:Yeah, boy. Yes, indeed. Well, it's your choice, New Zealand. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Reuben, your backbone. How's life? Not bad, man. Bad bastard. What's going on? Yeah, I'm just doing a radio show, man. What are you running with there, mate? Has to be old mogie. Yeah. Old mogie over there. Old mogie. Good on you, Ruben. First things, brother. Yeah, brother. Yeah, good on you, Ruben, your backbone. All right, on to the next caller. G'day, Haydo, you mad bastard. How's life? Welcome.

26:27Mike Minogue:What's up? We should bring that back.

26:29Keyzie:Yeah, man, yeah. That's it. All right, Hayden, what are you running with, mate? I'm actually going with you today, Joe Sark. Oh, okay. Because you've done a good job, brother. Oh, thanks, mate. Good on you, man. There you go, Jase. Well done, man. Thanks. Good for you, man. Good stuff, mate. All right, thank you, Hayden. G'day, Ryland, how's life? Yeah, you're going pretty well. What do you do? Good on you, mate. What are you running with, Ryland? I'm actually running with Keezy with the allocation status. Good on you, Ryland. This is exciting, guys. Thank you, mate. You have a lovely weekend.

26:59Keyzie:So that means that, Joss, you're the decider. What are you running with? Keezy.

27:07Mike Minogue:Keezy. Oh, Keezy. Keezy. Keezy. Wait, so you're saying Keezy, Jock? No, I'd go for Mogey. Yeah! I had a feeling. Woo! Cheers, brother. I had a feeling he was going to do a stitch-up like that. That's good stuff from you, man.

27:22Keyzie:Why did you ask him?

27:23Mike Minogue:Because he was going to do it.

27:25Keyzie:I could tell. You should have gone, good stuff, mate. See you later. Goodbye. Good on you, mate. Great choice. Great tune. Territorial pissing's Nirvana.

27:35Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

27:42Keyzie:Holy hecka. Say what you like about that bloke. God, he's got a beautiful voice on him. Doesn't he? So harmonic.

27:49Mike Minogue:I don't like that song. Like, I love Nirvana, but I was like, I've never really listened to this song. I think it's because I skip it. Yeah, right. I must do. It's just too intense for me. Yeah, yeah. It's okay, Kibby. Not everyone can handle it, man. I can't handle it. Not everyone can handle the territorial pissings from Nirvana. Yeah, yeah, true. True. The name as well is quite full on. But Mogi wins the Throbber. Actually, fun fact, it's the second Throbber in a row Mogey has won with a Nirvana tune. Ooh. Breed. Breed, that's a tune as well. That's a great tune. Yeah, nice. Nice. We're getting back into my Nirvana, fellas.

28:20Mike Minogue:Yeah, good stuff. They're bloody good. They are good. Fellas, coming up shortly, I've got a news story for you, actually, that's pretty gripping, pretty insane, something that's hitting the nation.

28:31Keyzie:Yeah.

28:32Mike Minogue:Also, Jase, you were saying you've got ambitions.

28:35Keyzie:Yeah, I do. It's quite high.

28:36Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

28:37Keyzie:I was reminded of something the other day, and I was like, that's what I need to do next.

28:41Mike Minogue:Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay. In the meantime, though, a bit of Oasis. Oh. Shit. What's the score, by the way? The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.

28:56Keyzie:Oh, we're on the Hodaki Big Show this Friday evening, the time being 5.22.

29:04Mike Minogue:Fellas, I need some advice from you guys. You know, you're actors, eh? Yeah, well, that was in the past, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. and so I did an audition earlier in the week for an ad and I played this guy in a bar and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I was pretty nervous but went along. Wasn't as sort of hugely embarrassed and ashamed of myself as I had been after every other audition. Well, can I say, Kesey, that probably the reason for that is because you brought it in here and we workshopped it. Yeah. We workshopped that audition with you. I don't know if that's how. Totally. And as a result of that, you now find yourself with a callback.

29:43Mike Minogue:Isn't that great? I have a callback. What's a callback?

29:46Keyzie:That's when you get down to a select group of people that essentially the director and the company are interested in using.

29:54Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Yeah. And so just genuinely, how many people do you think they would have auditioned for this part? Like 20? Oh, probably 1 ,000.

30:03Keyzie:Yeah, I'd say between 1 ,000 and 1 ,500. Yeah. Right.

30:08Mike Minogue:And how many people will get a callback like that? Three.

30:12Keyzie:Really? Yeah, three, four.

30:14Mike Minogue:Out of 1 ,000? Out of 1 ,000 to 1 ,500.

30:17Keyzie:You must have really, really made an impression. So that's unbelievable.

30:21Mike Minogue:Really? Oh, my God. So what do I have to do traditionally? Have you ever had a callback?

30:29Keyzie:Usually they just hired me on the spot. Right, so you've never had a callback.

30:33Mike Minogue:Right, okay. So I've had a callback before he J hasn't.

30:35Keyzie:Look, I've had a few callbacks at the time for sure. I've always had some callback.

30:38Mike Minogue:Okay. Yeah, yeah. What can I expect?

30:40Keyzie:Now, listen, I've just got to say this. As your agent, when they gave me the call to say that you've got a callback, which I was very excited about, Keith. And surprised you, sir. Yeah, oh, surprised. They did actually say, Ree, your callback, were you to get the part, you're going to have to lose the mo.

31:00Mike Minogue:I've just shaved the mo off? Yeah. What, did you say no to that? I don't want to shave off my mo.

31:05Keyzie:Well, no, I said he'll do anything. he's desperate to get on the TV.

31:09Mike Minogue:Well, no, I'm not desperate to get on the TV. In fact, I'm on TV occasionally, game of two halves, if hopefully it doesn't get cancelled.

31:16Keyzie:And I said, yeah, sure, no worries. Not looking good. But anyway, you're asking about...

31:22Mike Minogue:What I'll have to do. Yeah, so essentially it is, more often than not, you'll have the director there. The director will be in the room. Yeah, because last time it was just a person with a camera. Yeah, that's right. Because you wouldn't have the director in the room for 1 ,000 to 1 ,500 of the wider auditions. but now it's getting down to the sharp end. Nitty gritty. And what I want to do is I want to know that they can work with you and I want to know that you can hear and apply notes and direction. So, okay, this time try this and this time try that. No, that's great. No, what are you doing?

31:56Yeah, that's humiliating. I don't know if I'm good at that because I'm not experienced. No, no, not like that. Well, hang on. No. Oh, God, no. Thank you. Yeah. So that's what you can expect.

32:07Mike Minogue:Could you now do one for like if I'm doing it really well? Wow. Oh, yeah, good stuff. I like that one. Bang on. Yeah, that's really good. Bang on.

32:15Keyzie:Yeah, that feels good. Just need to lose the moan. You've got the part. The only trouble as well is, of course, that it is down to three people. So you've got to worry about the other two.

32:25Mike Minogue:Really? Because in my mind, I was like, I'm not worried about them. I'm just going to do what I can do. Well, that's all you can do. Yes. But, you know, Hoity J was telling me, because the thing is, you've got to have your ear to your ground. So as soon as you get down to final three, callbacks, all these sorts of things, you start thinking to yourself, as an agent, how can I put my actor in a pole position? Yeah. So we've found out that the other two people that are going for this particular role are Adam Blair and Sean Johnson. Now, of course, you've got a little bit of history there, don't you?

32:54Mike Minogue:Well, yeah, because Adam Blair replaced me on a TV show I used to be on. Yeah. He's got a lot of charisma, I've got to say. Similar things sort of happened with Sean Johnson. Johnson, yeah, you prepped a whole show and then he got you kicked off and then he's done it. But the last thing you can do is let that sort of stuff play into your mind. No, don't even think about it. I think Adam Blair's got a moustache at the moment. Does he have to shave? No, they like it. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. One simple question, one weekend of a lifetime.

33:26Keyzie:Would you rather? Yes, indeed, would you rather? It's on. The NRL Grand Final or Bathurst?

33:35Mike Minogue:Obviously, we're on Team Grand Final, eh, fellas?

33:38Keyzie:Oh, no, I'm Bathurst all the way, man. Doosh, doosh, brum, brum. Brum, brum.

33:44Mike Minogue:Do-do-do-do-do-do. Do-do-do-do-do-do-do. Yeah, that's Bathurst. To be honest, you've talked me around. I think I've changed my choice as well. A few beers? You get to have a few beers. You can have a few beers in either, though, responsibly, of course. Yes, of course. NRL Grand Final or Bathurst. Let's go to the lines there, fellas.

34:01Keyzie:G'day, Mark, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, thanks, guys. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Say, tell me, Mark, you're looking forward to your Friday, are you? I am, yeah. I just had a beer, actually. Oh, good on you, man. What do you do for a crust, Mark? I work at a school. I'm a caretaker. Oh, backbone! Have we spoken to you before? Oh, I have, yeah. Last year or the year before. Yeah, I mean, I'm fascinated by a caretaker. I love a caretaker. We had a great caretaker at my school growing up. Mr Griffin. He also lived on the same street as us, and he'd get around with a cheese cutter on.

34:35He was an older fella, but jack of all trades. That's what I liked about it. Bloody oats. Wander around. You're on your own time. You answer to no, bastard. And he had an incinerator, and I love an incinerator. Just burning shit. Burning it. You still got an incinerator, man? No, all run by gas bottles now. Oh, yeah. It's a shame, man. The world's gone. It's PC gone mad. PC gone mad.

34:57Keyzie:Tell me, Mark, what would be your preference, mate? The NRL or Bathurst?

35:02Mike Minogue:The grand final, NRL. Yeah, good on you, mate. All right, Mark, you're on the draw, mate. You hold the line, okay? Thank you.

35:08Keyzie:Good on you, man. G'day, Chris, you mad bastard. How's life? G'day, hoity Jizzy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bitch. Yeah, I'm good, thanks, mate. What are your plans for your Friday night there, Chris?

35:25Mike Minogue:Not a lot there, Jizzy. I'll just get home and just blow the froth clean off the top of one, I reckon. Yeah, nice. Good on you, mate.

35:34Keyzie:What do you do for a crust, Chris?

35:36Mike Minogue:I hang off the back end of a hydrovac hose on the old sucker truck there. Oh, nice. Yeah, nice. Good on you, Chris. Hey, NRL Grand Final or Bathurst, mate? Hey, fellas, after all that build-up, I'm going to have to go Bathurst. I'm fizz for it. I'm fizzed.

35:53Keyzie:Oh, that's awesome. First Bathurst. I had a feeling that old Chris was going to go Bathurst. I sure did. No, you didn't. I just had a vibe, a little tingle in my testicles.

36:02Mike Minogue:Hey, Chris, you're in the draw, brother. You hold the line, and old Pugson will have a go at you, all right? Yeah, cheers, fellas. Enjoy the weekend. Up the wire. Up the wire. Yeah, up the wires, Chris. Good on you, mate. Good on you, mate. Seemed like a nice fella. Of course, a few nights over in Aussie, regardless whether you go to Bathurst or the Grand Final, thanks to boystrip.co.nz. If you'd like to go to either of those two events, why not go to the website? Yeah, good stuff, mate. Here's the cue. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

36:32Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Kings of Leon. This Friday evening, fellas, big weekend ahead. Let's have a bit of sport chat.

36:48Keyzie:Which sport should we start with, fellas? Yes, no, you go, Mogi. I was just going to say a little bit of the All Blacks. Yeah, I think so, the AB. The ABs, they're going to be playing 3am Sunday in Cape Town. Pretty exciting stuff after that. First TS win by the All Blacks at Alice Park, where we put a clinic on, really, didn't we? Five to one try time. Sort of the last 20 minutes there. Leroy Carter has been selected on the wing. Yes, nice. I'm expecting a hellstorm. It will be. I really am. I've got a bad feeling. I think the Springbrook reaction is going to be swift and violent. So I can't wait.

37:25I'm actually looking forward to this game more than I was the first test. Yeah.

37:29Mike Minogue:If they could capture that opening five minutes of physicality, the Springboks, if they managed to do that for half a game at least, it's going to be brutal.

37:36Keyzie:I agree, and I think that we could be in for some real punishment here, but I also think it may play in our favour a little bit. They'll come out fired up. They'll fire all their shots. The fellas need to absorb it and then spread it wide! Yeah. Well, it's good, isn't it? It's a different team, thankfully. They feel like they've got some direction. And keeping in mind, this is the first year with Dave Rennie at the helm. Yes. And already we've seen more significant growth than we'd seen in the previous two years. And the whole idea is absolutely we want to win the Springbok Tour, but you just want them getting better and better and better on a continual curve upwards to the World Cup next year.

38:18Yeah, beautiful.

38:19Mike Minogue:We should also chat. Waz, they are playing Sunday afternoon, 4pm, against the Newcastle Knights, It's just as we're at Hoody Jays having to come down with me. That's going to be, to be honest, the Waz should put them to the sword. 13 plus is what I expect from the Waz at this point in the season going into the finals based on their current form. Yeah, I completely agree. And we've got Tain Tauapiki is in there at fullback. A debut for Luke Laulili. And he's only 20 years old. He comes from West Tigers. He's a short, stout, hard little nuggety sort of a player. He's a winger, right? He is a winger and a hell of a finisher by all accounts.

38:55Outside of that, everything is pretty much as normal, but Tomari Martin returns in the No. 7 jersey with Chanel Harris-DeVita going to the 6.

39:05Mike Minogue:I like Tane being at fullback because of his goal kicking. For me now, that's a lock. At the moment, Ole Chan's nickel clock start is out because of suspension. I think if you're going to bring him back for anything, you're going to bring him back into the centre or into the wing. but the fact that Tane is a goal kicker. A great kicker. Well, he had a great night. I'm hoping that's consistent. Yeah. For that reason, he's got to stay.

39:28Keyzie:And another great thing, fellas, when we're watching it, you'll be stuffing Christmas ham in your gob.

39:33Mike Minogue:Yeah, I can't wait, Jase. For you to have a Waz-themed party, great idea. Thanks, man. Exciting stuff. Ramfilly Shield, man. Yeah, Tunny Fire. Ramfilly Shield. Well, last week, Northland defeated Canterbury to get the Ramfilly Shield for the first time in roughly 40 or 50 years. Something insane. And it's so great when it goes to those smaller unions. Absolutely love it. I love the Ramfury Shield. I love the NPC. Just good meat and potatoes rugby union. Their first offence is this week, Sunday the 30th of August. It's 5.05 kick-off at Whangarei, and they are playing Tasman, who are not to be sneezed at.

40:11Yeah, they're going to get hiding.

40:12Mike Minogue:It's been a good few days. Yeah, well, they would have a really good party.

40:16Keyzie:I'm guaranteeing it.

40:17Mike Minogue:It's like when the Bay of Pliny steamers, my team, won it. It was a good few days there, and we loved it, and we've banged on about it ever since, but the reality is. And that will be a hell of a game, because that ground there in Whangarei is going to be absolutely rammed to the gunnels. Bloody oath.

40:34Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

40:40Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by ReBurger.

40:49Mike Minogue:Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries, and gourmet eats that will change the game.

40:52Keyzie:The name's Burger. Dish, dish, dish. ReBurger.

40:58Mike Minogue:Good stuff, fellas. I also need to remind you that this weekend, to celebrate the fact that they have opened four new stores, ReBurger stores, you've got Avondale, Botany Junction, Key Street, and there's one in the Auckland CBD as well. Each one of those stores is giving away 100 burgers for free this Sunday. How bloody good. If you live in Auckland, go to one of those stores and get a free, delicious, massive burger. Whoa. Because they are delicious.

41:20Keyzie:Now, fellas, I'm concerned. I know you're both going to a show tonight, the same show. What are you going to eat before you get there? I'm just a bit worried you're going to get halfway through the show and be like, oh, jeez, I'm starving. My wife's got a little dumpling soup ready to go when I get home. Oh, yeah. She's going to be cutting it fine, mate. Yeah, she'll be right, man. Don't wait for me, man. You reckon? Well, they will or they won't. I'll make a hurr of a noise when I'll come in, man.

41:50Mike Minogue:Because you're probably sitting up the front as well, right? I will be. Yeah, what is it? Someone's moving. I'm going to go to this Malaysian joint across the road, sort of from the Civic, which is where the show is. A really nice one. And so I said to my wife, should we go there? She's like, yeah. And what did you say? Either that or I said, okay, great. Either that or Hoity J's Hot Pot, I said. She said, nah. Nah. Yeah. She does want to try it, though.

42:14Keyzie:Yeah. She hates my food. Yeah. Not all she hates. That's good stuff, fellas. She doesn't hate your guts. What are you having, Jase?

42:25Mike Minogue:Because I'm worried about you, man. I'm freaking out.

42:27Keyzie:Well, as I said, my mother-in-law is coming to stay tonight, so we haven't really figured it out. We might go to Elliott Street where there's a plethora of choices. Yeah. But often that's just even more confusing. Yeah, it is. You know what I mean? It is. But we'll figure it out. It'll be fine. You'll be okay, man. It'll be fine, man. Don't worry about it. That's the thing.

42:47Mike Minogue:Up next, Moggy's Celebrity Dilemma. Dish, dish. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

42:58Keyzie:Pearl Jam there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday night. Fellas, every now and again I find myself in the presence of some pretty interesting people, some well-known people. And yesterday I had that. I was hanging out with a pretty well-known New Zealand celebrity. Right. For a little work thing there. And this person, we were driving in a car. They were driving and we were going to a destination. I can't say who it was. Oh, wow. A-list? A-list? Yeah, I would say A-list. A-list, yep. Now, what was interesting was that this celebrity, this was yesterday there, we're chitting and we're chatting.

43:39and this person is on the motorway, as am I, as is the car. Because you're in the car. Absolute, and just driving in the fast lane going 80Ks.

43:50Mike Minogue:No. Oh, God, I hate that. And I'm sitting there now involved in the conversation, but also 90 % of my brain is thinking, are you not seeing all of these cars and trucks overtake you on the left-hand side and then immediately cut in front of you and carry on. Taika, you've got to pull over to the other lane, man. I was kind of like, come on, Jason Momoa. Move over, man. You're not in Hawaii now. That would have been funny. Totally. It really wasn't Jason. Huh? I couldn't say. But the problem is I didn't really know the person very well. Right. So I didn't really know how to handle it. Yeah, like normally you're just like, hey, asshole, move over.

44:38Because you're having an absolute shocker. That's how you'd usually say it. That's how, you know, if it was, you know, my mum or, you know, you, Keezy.

44:46Mike Minogue:Pugs aren't. Yeah, Pugs aren't. And I just wanted to know how you guys might have handled a situation like that. Very tricky, very tricky because you're trying to, you've got a new, essentially, just met the person, trying to grow the relationship. Are they aware of it? but the same thing happened on the way there and also on the way back. If it was me, I would have been like, listen, Dame Kitty, I know we've just met but I need to tell you, you're in the fast lane right now and there's so many cars behind you and I'm feeling a bit agitated. Yeah. You know what I mean? Would you have said that?

45:17Mike Minogue:Maybe. So you would have been clear communication styles. Yeah, but I don't want to be known as the clear communication guy, you know. Sure. But that might have been what I would have done if Dame Kitty was driving me. You wouldn't have just ignored it and let it go because, you know, win some, you lose some. and half dozen of the other.

45:31Keyzie:I would probably try and make a joke of it. You know what I mean? I'd make it. I'd be like, Carl Urban, it's funny, isn't it? Because, you know, you do a lot of action movies. Yeah. But you're pretty sedate on the old roads here. You'd make a joke. Oh, that's good. You know what I mean? Is it sedate right? Oh, you know. You're trying to make an asshole. Well, I mean. How's my American accent? Asshole.

45:53Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's pretty good. Is it?

45:55Keyzie:Yeah, it's not bad.

45:58Mike Minogue:Actually, Muggie, I take it back Because you're right I'm sitting in there in the car Jason Hoyt's driving And who am I to tell Jason Hoyt That he's driving like a poor cat He's A-list Well, it's not his fault he can't see over the steering wheel Yeah, he's in a little booster seat there He's doing his best to even reach the accelerator Yes To be honest, I'd probably suggest that I drive Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah In the first place Yeah You know what I mean? Well, yeah, Hoytie Joe would normally be in the back seat Yeah, exactly Well, that's weird. Facing backwards in the little bassinet thing. The Hauraki Big Show.

46:31Mike Minogue:Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

46:34Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Blink 182 there on the Hauraki Big Show this glorious Friday night. Hope you're having a good one.

46:41Mike Minogue:Fellas, do you like flowers? Yes. Who doesn't? What's your favourite flower? Daffodil. Oh, that's good.

46:48Keyzie:I would have to say, what are those beautiful smelling ones? They're just frisiers. Frisiers? Yes, they are the most pungent, beautiful-smelling flower. What's your view on agapanthas? I quite like an alyssum, too. Alyssum's really nice. It's a very delicate white flower. Beautiful perfume.

47:04Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. Agapantha?

47:06Keyzie:No. Azalea. Oh, okay. Rose? I do like an orchid, but they don't really have a smell. No, they don't, but they're a beer. I tell you what, Moogie, in all seriousness, really hard to keep alive in orchid. They're really tricky. It's a fine art. It's a tricky plant. Yeah, they need their own temperature, sort of their own atmosphere to operate them. My grandmother used to grow them, and you have to have a particular type of shed that is set at a particular temperature, Kesey. Wow. Not easy. You have to be a real enthusiast, a real green thumb, if I could call it that. And the thing is that they don't sit in soil, Kesey.

47:50Keyzie:It's a barky kind of very thick kind of thing. Absolutely right. Because they actually grow on trees in the wild.

47:57Mike Minogue:What? Lilies? No, orchids. Oh. But anyway, what was your point? Well, today's Daffodil Day. I don't see how the two are related. Oh, it's the type of – one in three Kiwis, fellas, affected by cancer in their lifetime. So today – One in three people. One in three Kiwis, yeah. Wow. That's a lot, isn't it? It is a lot. So today – Because that means – Yes. What? Well, there's three of us here. Could be, man. Could be. Yeah, God. Who is it? You, Keezy, strike me as a testicular sort of a fella. You guys strike me as a lung cancer kind of – Yeah, I'd go with that. Jason's got a bit of mouth cancer about him.

48:36Mike Minogue:Because you had foot and mouth for a while, didn't you? Yeah, I did, yeah. Hey, text DONATE to 305 right now to make an instant$3 donation to the Cancer Society. Our station and all the radio stations here at NZME are all banding together to raise funds today. Your donation helps fund vital care and support services for people with cancer.

48:54Keyzie:That number again, please, Kesey. Donate.

48:56Mike Minogue:Yes. Text donate to 305. 305. Good stuff, mate. Good stuff. What's the really big flower, like circle, big circle flower, lots of little petals on them, like blue and pink. Dahlia? No. You've imagined it, Kesey. Really common one. They're very common in New Zealand.

49:14Keyzie:I think you were hallucinating.

49:16Mike Minogue:No, it's literally, I've got two of them. So you're talking about a flower that's got what petals on it? A flower that's big circle-shaped flower head, and it has lots of little petals. Sunflower. No, not a sunflower. It's a globe-shaped, not a circle. It's a sphere, spherical-shaped flower. Chrysanthemum. No, no. Hydrangea. Well, what about it? Yeah, I like them. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.

49:48Keyzie:Guns and roses on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening. Fellas, before we head into the weekend, should we give out some advice? Sure.

49:59Mike Minogue:Be pretty nips, 69. At gmail.com. Get in touch with the fellas. Do get in touch. With the fellas. We'll read it out on the show, and you can get yourself a$50 Reburger voucher. This one comes from Anonymous. Fellas? Yes. G'day there, I need some advice. After a long day at work, I get home and all I want to do is sit in the lounge with the fellas, play some FIFA, and watch the crowd goes wild. Two very specific things there. So FIFA is online football with your mates. Yes. On your PlayStation or whatever. But it seems I never get to do this because as soon as I'm finished dinner, the Misso is commanding me into the boudoir to watch some TV series I don't really like and then into an early night.

50:43Mike Minogue:How do I ensure I get my necessary lounge time each night with the feelers whilst also not starting a domestic with the miso? Cheers. Yeah. Anonymous.

50:51Keyzie:Break up with her. The eternal issue, isn't it? You know what I mean?

50:55Mike Minogue:I think communication's key. Communication, Keezy.

50:58Keyzie:Well, this is very much prevalent in your house, Keezy, because you're a gamer. Very much so, yeah. Very, very much so. And your wife, you know, she only likes a certain type of program.

51:12Mike Minogue:Yeah. I can imagine if, for example, the partner wants to watch something mine, like what Pugs loves and his partner like Love Island. Yeah. If my wife was like, come into bed so we can watch Love Island, I would be like, no, I'm all G. Yes. But it's about communicating to her and saying, hey, this helps me unwind after a stressful day catching up with my mates. No, that never works. It works in my household. Oftentimes you find with open communication, it can lead to arguments and things, Jase. Oh, really? You don't want to be honest. No, no, not at all. I've always found that deceit Deceit is the way to go Right So if they've got a program They really want to watch it In this case come to bed and watch this You say oh yeah great You know you lie And then you go to jump into bed And you go ooh I'm just going to go and get a glass of water Wow Then you go out And then you play video games And then you're Till like 3 in the morning Yeah 3 in the morning And then they're none the wiser See that's genius Because what I would have done Is said hey I'll come and watch it But afterwards I want to go online with my mates Yeah Yeah, but they're going to miss Crow Goes Wild.

52:13Mike Minogue:Yeah, but that's on demand. You can watch that whenever.

52:16Keyzie:What I used to do back in the day is say, my wife would want to watch something in bed, and I'd go, yeah, okay, great idea, babe. That's great. And I'd jump in a bed and go, oh, just like mogi, I'm just going to go and get a glass of water and then bugger off down the pub. Down pub. Yeah. Go off down pub. Right, and she never realised. No, I'd smash a few durrows because she only ever gets, you know, 20 minutes into the show and falls asleep anyway. Yes, exactly. You know what I mean? Yeah.

52:38Mike Minogue:Yeah, right, okay. Yeah, yeah. The other thing too to keep in mind is, Anonymous, when you game, if you're gaming a lot, this is actually a common thing with gaming. People are like, I just want to play my thing, but a lot of people do it when they should be doing other stuff. Like you should be helping with kids or helping clean up and blah, blah. Do all that shit first and then go game. Well, it sounds like he's in a flat-end environment, doesn't it? Although having said that, it was playing with the boys, which these days means it can be online. Yeah, I don't know. It's tricky, isn't it? Yeah.

53:11Whatever you do, don't speak up for yourself. Yeah, okay. Or you can just not go home. Oh, yeah.

53:17Keyzie:You know, just book an Airbnb or something like that.

53:19Mike Minogue:Yes. And do you say you're going for water?

53:22Keyzie:No, no, no. You just don't come home. You just don't come home.

53:25Mike Minogue:Yeah. Right. And then you come home at some stage. Well, eventually.

53:28Keyzie:Well, maybe when she's at work. You might grow to like being away from home. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? So when she's at work, you come home, you pack your stuff, and you're off. Have a shower. So your advice is to run away from home. Oh, not run away. Slow, slow job.

53:42Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

53:52Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the end of the show this Thursday evening. The end of the goat countdown as well. I'll tell you what, I'm pretty knackered now, actually. That was epic.

54:03Mike Minogue:Yeah, Jase, you did really well during the countdown. Yeah, thanks, man. And that final montage you put together was excellent as well. Yeah, it was great. Really good.

54:10Keyzie:I really enjoyed it.

54:11Mike Minogue:I really enjoyed the podcast outro, a.k.a. the disclaimer. Yeah. The new name of our podcast. Here's a clip from today where we discussed my T-shirt by the sounds of it. Come on, Jase. Talk about my T-shirt.

54:26Keyzie:It's very cool, man. What is it? Like a douche-douche one? A gaming kind of?

54:29Mike Minogue:Just the drag racing one I've worn once a week for the last five years.

54:38This is the thing I was talking about.

54:42Mike Minogue:Oh, Keezy's tired. Start being dicks about it. We're so old to be doing that shit, aren't we? Yeah, we really are. Hey, here's an idea. Don't do it. It's the most juvenile shit, and it's because I was slightly sleepy. That was good stuff.

54:59Keyzie:No, you were exhausted. I was. You were very hooded in the eyes. I was. Mogi, your plan tonight, please. Got a couple of families staying with us. They're up from Wellington, so a bit of a full house tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing those backbones in there. Bit of work. Not work tonight, but that's what I'll be doing. Bit of chit-chat. Yeah, good stuff, mate. Keezy, probably straight to bed for you. You've had so much to eat today. Been in a bit of a food coma.

55:24Mike Minogue:I have been in a food coma. I told my wife I don't need dinner tonight.

55:28Keyzie:Do you regret that now?

55:30Mike Minogue:No, because I've still got two chicken tenders from Reburger in my car. So I might eat those on the way home and then that'll be old Keezy done and dusted. Old Keezy. With a couple of fists full of chicken. Fried chicken. I'll be sucking them on. Yeah, I'll be sucking them. That's how I eat tenders. Is it? And then we'll watch Outrageous Fortune and then I'll probably go to bed early. Jase, what are you doing? Yeah.

55:54Keyzie:What am I doing? Steamer. What am I doing? I'll see you later, man. I've got to go. Honestly, time's a ticking, man. I'm thinking. No, you're not. No, you're not. Well, I'll probably... Actually, I'll tell you what I might do. This is actually ruining the goat. This has ruined the whole year for me. Oh, no, I can't.

56:11Mike Minogue:Because the thing with the goat is we have all these new listeners. And they stick around. Yeah, I know. And then they realise they've made a mistake. Yeah, this show, this could be good. And it's just Jase going... Oh, don't get upset. I'm sorry, Jase. Now I'm just joking around.

56:26Keyzie:No, I'm going to go home, eat some food, fellas. Watch a bit of TV and go to bed, all right?

56:29Mike Minogue:Love you all. Goodbye. See you tomorrow. Thank you.
