In short
The Horeki Big Show debriefs the hosts’ Dunedin OB night (drinking, hangovers, laryngitis/sinusitis), argues about nicotine/vaping bets for Hoity J, reviews movies watched during the pizza party (Mission: Impossible 6 disliked; Fight Club last 20 minutes praised), and sets up Magic Round/Rugby League ticket giveaways and Warriors vs Dolphins preview for Saturday in Wellington.
Guests
No external guests appear. The “guests” are the regular hosts: Jason Hoyte (Hoity J), Mike Minogue (Mike), Keezy (Keezy/Mogi), and Pugsan/Pugs (Pugs). They also take live phone calls from listeners (e.g., Richard, Chris, Will, Jade, Nick, Justin, Mason) for Magic Round entry.
Key claims
Dunedin drinking caused severe hangovers; Hoity J is “on the wagon” only because he’s away; Hoity J’s phone is broken into “two pieces”; Hoity J is not actually in contention to be the next Pope; Mission: Impossible 6 is “one Buzzy”; Fight Club’s ending is “4.5 buzzies.”
Notable examples
Dunedin Castle Street “objectifying” chants; a “pizza party” tradition where Mogi wasn’t invited; Warriors missing players (Payne Haas, Rhys Walsh “iffy”); Dolphins’ Darwin golden-point game with quarter breaks and ice/electrolytes.

0:13Jason Hoyte:With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie.
0:17Mike Minogue:Oh, g'day you mad bastards. It is the 23rd of April, 2026 and as always you are listening to the Horeki Big Show brought to you by Toledos. I love Toledo's Toledo's.co.nz If you'd like some of New Zealand's finest natural electrolyte beverages
0:38Toledo's Far out, Pugson Man, I thought that would have been you doing that little line there But Keezy's just looked at you and he thought This guy's not up to it I don't know whether it's because he knows you as a person Because you're in absolute pieces after getting pissed off your head last night At the OB down in Dunedin At Emerson's Or what the guts is, man So how does that make you feel, bro?
0:57Jason Hoyte:Man, nothing gets past you, old Mogey, eh? Is that what happened there, man? What? Because you were just about to start doing that little Toledos line there. And then old Keezy.
1:06Mike Minogue:Mogey. I looked at Pugs and I saw a man. A shell of a man. It was like a deer in headlights. Yeah. There was nothing happening there. I've looked at his computer. There's literally nothing on there other than Buzzi's. He didn't know what he was doing. Yeah. And so I just dived in there with a sort of half-assed Toledos plug. Well, I knew what I was doing. Yeah. It was the Buzzi's on the computer. You were doing that. Hey, Mogi, how are you today, mate? Because you're very sprightly. Yeah, man, I'm feeling good. Here's the thing, fellas. Old hoody Jizzbot is away. He's gone away for a long weekend.
1:35He's gone over to Australia there. You guys are both hungover. I'm on the wagon, so I haven't had a drink since New Year's Eve. And nothing makes me feel better than seeing in real life the benefits of my actions, which is that I am on the wagon. I'm not drinking. I don't get to feel the hangover. So when I see people that are hungover, it brings me great joy. Even though I myself are sick at the moment, I feel like a million dollars. Like, I've never felt better. I don't know if it makes me a piece of shit for feeling so good about you guys being pieces of shit.
2:04Mike Minogue:But here we are, man. I've never seen you this energised. Oh, I'm pumped. I am pumped. Speaking of that, being pumped. Old Pugsan, how are you today, mate?
2:13Jason Hoyte:I'm well, thank you, Kesey. That's not true, man. Always a pleasure to be here with you fellas. Very grateful. We had a great time yesterday in Dunedin. And so it's great to be back on the show. Pugs, can you just be honest with the audience, please?
2:25Mike Minogue:What's that? Before the show, he dropped an orange on the ground and almost burst into tears. I did not drop an orange on the ground. That is a bold-faced lie. And it's unreal, isn't it? You know, we asked him another question. I asked him a question, you know, which is about partying, man. And he said, look, can you ask me on Tuesday? He's in no position to answer that question today. He's going to need until Tuesday to answer that question. He needed a couple of business days in the weekend as well. That'd be great. God, man, you're terrible. You were shocking last night as well. Anyway, short story is this show is going to be great for me, maybe not for anybody else.
3:02Yeah, bloody good. Hey, Mogi, speaking of, what's coming up on the show?
3:08What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogi? Very limited opportunities, fellas, to get into the draw for Magic Round. Listen up for the Q2 call. Ring us on the old phone there. 0800 Hodaaki. We're drawing this next Friday, fellas.
3:22Mike Minogue:That's right. Just a week and a half left. Time's running out. I feel like there's about 21 more sleeps until we go. Something along those lines. It's very soon, Puckson. Also, we've got a double pass to the Warriors game, which is happening this Saturday night. Kickoff at 8 o 'clock against the Dolphins down in Wellington. That is sold out. These tickets are hot, hot, hot, and we'll be giving away a double pass later in the show at some point. And coming up next, we'll be debriefing Dunedin. and what a shocking bastard it was. You guys are shocking. Mogi, can you just tone it down just like 10 %?
3:52Mike Minogue:I am just shocked. Hey, I know it'll fix things. A bit of Papa Roach on the big show. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Arctic Monkeys on the Hauraki Big Show. 12 minutes past four this Thursday afternoon with Kizimogi and Pugsan, old Hoody J, extending his long weekend. He'll be back on the Tuesday there, fellas. We've just got back from Dunedin. Big night last night. Hey, guys. For some of us. Yeah, for some of us. Others. For some of us. Some of us are in a terrible state. I'm not going to lie. You'll probably be able to figure that out as the show goes on. Yeah.
4:28Mike Minogue:Others of us are sprightlier than I've ever seen. Yeah, that's true. I'm feeling real good. Yeah. Even though I was real well. Actually, I'd had a couple of days off before heading into Dunedin, but I went down because, you know. What? You know. What? You can say it.
4:46Jason Hoyte:I had no leave. Oh, backbone. I needed the money. And so I rocked up and I was on antibiotics, flu medication, throat lozenges, all sorts of things. My voice was absolutely gone by the end of the show, to be honest. There was about 400 backbones down there, would you say, around about? I'd say so, yeah. Absolutely heaving, including the outdoor area. And all the while, you guys were just living it up. I was feeling a bit unwell, but you guys were just smashing beers. Absolutely smashing beers. No, I wouldn't say responsibly. Responsibly the haze and confused. The haze and confused turned 10 years old.
5:21That's why we're down there. But, yeah, you guys were just sort of knocking them over. I think when there's no price to pay, literally, then there's going to be a price to pay at some point. And because you were drinking free beers, that's why you find yourselves in the situation you are now, Keezy, where you're hunched over with your arms folded. You're slow blinking. Pugsun over here has got the most bloodshot eyes I've ever seen on a man in my life. Just driving by on there. Oh, God. Yeah. Far out.
5:48Mike Minogue:This whole show's a drive by, Pugsun. Come on, man. It's the whole, it's what it's built around. Yeah, can I just say, going into the Eden always rules, by the way. It does. Like, you get there, it's freezing, and we all go, oh, you know, us Aucklanders. I love the cold, though. It's nice to go somewhere different, yeah. 100%, but we muck in there, and then, you know, we went and saw a flat on Castle Street, which was a highlight of the trip for me, and Jace particularly loved it. Those fellas there that hosted us, they were very, very kind and generous with their time in letting us see the shithole that they live in.
6:18Mike Minogue:There's a video of that on the Hodaki Big Show's Instagram there if you want to check it out. But also one thing I just kind of want to try and limit in the future is Jace used yesterday's show as like he rigged the throbber and he made the punishment that whoever loses gets to have a durry. Yeah. He then rigged the big pole so that he would have a durry. He's literally just used our show as a way to get back on the durries. I'm all about it. I'm all about it. I mean, obviously, we've got the bet coming up in May. Jase has made a bet as a view with me for$100 each that Jase won't get on the vape or smoke darts in the month of May.
6:56And so in preparation for that, he's having as much nicotine as he can possibly squeeze in any way he can squeeze it in. So I'm looking forward. If he lasts for a week of May, I'll be shocked.
7:07Mike Minogue:Do you reckon, because I've been wanting to talk about this, when it gets to the end of May 31st or 30th or whatever the hell it is, do you reckon he'll then just straight away get on the darts the next day, the vape, you know, the first day of June? What are you talking about? He'll be on it well before the 31st of May. What do I have to do? Can I give you 50 bucks right now? We'll just call it off. No, it's going to be funny, mate. We've got to talk more about this as well, actually, I think, because he is having something of a shocker. 100 % He was out of control Last night actually And we had a pizza party In his room afterwards That was great It was alright We'll get into that A little later on As well In the meantime Keezy's hung over Keezy's hung over And he's stumbling On his words Come on man Garbage It's the Hauraki Big Show The Hauraki Big Show With Jace, Mike and Keezy
7:59Jason Hoyte:Tune in Weekdays at 4 On Radio Hauraki
8:02Mike Minogue:All apologies, Nirvana on the Hodaki Big Show. 24 minutes past 4 o 'clock this Thursday afternoon. So we went to Dunedin, didn't I, B, yesterday. All tootled off back to our hotel room. You, Keezy, and you, Pugs, are a little bit later than everyone else. And by everyone else, I mean me and Hoity Jizzbot. Yeah. As soon as the show ends, we like to leave immediately. Yeah, well, the way Jase loves it is to have the Uber outside pre-booked with the door open, and then as soon as he says, all right, you mad bastards, you know, we'll see you tomorrow, boom, straight to the Uber. Smuggle them out like a president.
8:33Certainly what happens down in Dunedin is around about a quarter to six, it turns. It does turn. And becomes almost thoroughly unenjoyable. The young lads from the Castle Street flat were there. There's about 16 of them. There may be 22 of them that live in the flat. I'm not sure. There was another flat. There was a different one. Yeah, right. All animals, all hammers, all chanting Kesey, show us your nips, et cetera, et cetera, really objectifying you sexually, Kesey, if I can say that. and that makes me feel sick on so many different levels.
9:04Mike Minogue:Well, if you want, we can stop banging on about my nips then. I mean, that might help. The whole show would fall apart and you'd know that. Yeah, that's true, actually. Anyway, then I'm lying in bed and my phone starts lighting up on the chat there as you guys start talking about the pizza party, the old pizza party, which has become a tradition. Back in Hoytie J's room when we go in an OB, there's a pizza party. The other tradition is that I don't get invited. The funny thing is, this is the thing with the pizza party, right? Every day on the show, we go, Mogey, what's the plan tonight? And you'll be like, oh, I'm going to go home.
9:39Mike Minogue:I don't know if my wife's cooked. Or I don't know what's for dinner, but I'll probably be in bed at about 8. Yeah. Those texts were coming through at about 9.13. Yeah. We knew you'd already be asleep. And you're also unwell, man. That's shocking, isn't it? I mean, are these the kind of excuses you're coming up with? We're not even going to bother asking you. Because we know. Because you may or may not be asleep. Is that what we're seeing? I mean, it's so completely... You're also in the group chat. Do you mind, Pugs? It's so unbelievable. And I don't want to jump in and get involved in a conversation that is directly happening between the three other members of the big show.
10:10Right? You guys are all talking to each other directly. No mention of me whatsoever there. It becomes quite clear that I'm not welcome at all. And at no point does anybody go, oh, actually, Mogi, it doesn't occur to any of you.
10:23Mike Minogue:Right, but seriously, Mogi, seriously, I was at the pizza party, right? Hal, I ordered the pizza Yeah And we went outside and had a durry Well, Pugsunded Excuse me And then the pizza showed up And then we went up to the room there Jace's room, tiny room as well Very small And we ate pizza Oh, so there's no room for me
10:42Jason Hoyte:Nah, it wasn't It was sort of like a three-person kind of room
10:45Mike Minogue:You know what I mean? Yeah We're at capacity, man But I was also The whole time Not one point Did I think You know who'd love this? Old Mogey.
10:57Jason Hoyte:You are bang on. There is nothing going on in that room that you would have sat down for. Did you also think to yourself, I know who would hate this. Old Mogey. Yes. My point, no.
11:06Mike Minogue:You would have hated it. No, but you never thought that. I never crossed your mind once, Kesey. Let's be honest. Now, would I have come along? Absolutely not. It's the biggest loser party that I've ever seen. I've seen some of the footage that came out today of three. Jase was cucking in the corner, sitting in a garage here, with the headphones on watching Trump reels. Yes, he was. While you two were watching a movie. I mean, there's no place I'd rather not be than one of those pizza parties, but it would be nice to have the opportunity to turn down the offer. Right, okay, well. And it's bloody rude that you haven't been offering at all.
11:37Mike Minogue:Right, okay, well, how about this? And you're right, by the way. At one point there, it was Pugs live commentating Mission Impossible 6 or something. Was it the latest one?
11:46Jason Hoyte:Yeah, it was one of the latest ones, and it was just, it was garbage. Right, it was really boring.
11:50Mike Minogue:He was doing a live director's commentary on that movie. Jase was watching reels with his skull candies on. And I was just sitting there by myself in this room going, why did I leave the pub?
11:59Jason Hoyte:And every five minutes going, how many darts you got, Pugs? Yeah. No, I wasn't. Yes, you were.
12:05Mike Minogue:And you were fast asleep and had been for two hours. Yeah, I was loving it. Do you want to come to the next one? We're going to have one at Magic Round. Would you like to come? No, thanks.
12:13Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back. The Big Show. Magic Round 3-B. Let's put another mad bastard on the bench.
12:28Mike Minogue:That's right. Magic Round with The Big Show. We are heading back to Brisbane. Three nights. Suncorp Stadium. Eight games of Rugby League. The Warriors taking on the Brisbane Broncos, who are the defending premiers, their mogi. They're going to be without a lot of their players. So if the Warriors can, fingers crossed, keep their great form up, we can be watching the Warriors fans, who traditionally at Magic Ground are the most, they turn out the most. They do. They represent the most up against the Brisbane fans who are from Brisbane, love the Broncos, always go to Suncorp. That is going to be a packed stadium.
13:01Mike Minogue:Who's out for Brisbane? You've got Payne Haas out. You've also got Rhys Walsh is a bit iffy with a facial fracture. Yeah, right. He'll probably be back by then, but there's just a few players a bit iffy. And so that's going to be a packed stadium. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the most atmospheric atmospheric of all the games of the weekend. Atmospheric. Atmospheric, like rain. An atmospheric river. That's right, Mogey. We'll be a bit iffy as well on Sunday as well. Yeah. The few Broncos players will be a bit iffy. We'll probably be the most iffy. Oh, we'll be very iffy. Yeah. Do you know what iffy means, Pugs?
Read the full transcript
13:33Mike Minogue:Iffy. I was going to say I'll be quite atmospheric. Oh, you are? Yeah. Probably. God, you're hungover right now, aren't you? You're battling. Now, hey, let's go to the Lions and see who's going to join us. Richard, you mad bastard. How you going? Yes, good thanks, Keezy. Yeah, good on you, mate. How's Dunners today, mate? Oh, I was actually a bit of a Dunners-Dunner around 12 o 'clock. The sun came out. Yeah. Frosty in the morning, yeah. We were there this morning. There was a beautiful golden sunrise, man. It was bloody beautiful down there. Yeah, you get them down here. You do. Yeah, it's still really, really, really cold, and I was stoked to leave, though, Richard.
14:09Sorry?
14:10Mike Minogue:No, don't worry about it. Don't be sorry, man. You didn't build it. You just live there. Exactly. Hey, if you won, man, who would you take with you? I'd take my good mate, Leo. Oh, Leo. Here we go. I don't know. Mogi, I'm not going with Leo, man. You know what he's like. He's a shocker. He's a handsy bastard. He is, man. God. It's only three days. Yeah, but... It's only three days, yeah. What he can do in three days would shock you, Richard. All right, you hold the line, mate. All right, you're in the draw. Thank you. Bloody good. Let's go to another mad bastard over here. G'day, Chris. How you going?
14:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, good, thanks. Good, mate. Where are you calling from? From Winton. Winton. Do you love it, man? Oh, it's all right, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Where is Winton? Down 20 minutes north of Irma Coggle. North of Irma Coggle. Full of backbones, we're front and centre. Now, I've got a question for you, Chris. If you win, and I've got no problem if you do, but tell me you don't want to bring your wife. Oh, I probably won't, to be fair. Yeah, yeah, backbones. Oh, why not, man?
15:13Jason Hoyte:Why not? I'll hold you back too much.
15:17Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. So you're thinking, Chris, if you get over there, you're going to have an affair, is that what you're saying? Yeah, you're right. We should do that. It should be a magic trip to Brisbane for an affair. Yeah. Maybe meet Chris from Winton. Imagine that. I reckon we rig it so that Chris from Winton wins because I want to watch a guy go over there and have an affair. And ruin his life. Thanks, mate. Nah, Chris, you're in the draw, mate. You hold the line. And let's go one more random choice. G'day, Will. Hey, mate. How are we? Yeah, good, mate. How are you? Thanks, Will. Yeah, mate. Not bad.
15:53Mike Minogue:Not bad. Yeah. Good on you, mate. You like rugby league there, Will? Mate, love it. What's your favourite position in the fours, man? Oh, be in the middle, mate. Yeah. Munting around in the middle. That's what gets it. What's your favourite position, man? Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Ah, pretty vanilla, mate. Yeah, lights off missionary. Good on you, man. Yeah, good on you. I've got a question for you, Will. Do you always find your front, man? Sorry, mate? Do you always find your front in the tackle? Do you always find your front for a quick play of the ball? Yeah, mate. Always click up. Yeah, good on you, Will, mate.
16:28Mike Minogue:This guy gets it, Pugs. He does. That's the thing about Will. Hey, Will, you're in the draw as well, mate. You hold the line, all right? Fingers crossed. Legend, mate. Cheers. Back, mate. Another chance to get yourself in the draw for a magic round a little later on in the show. Big shout out to boystrip.co.nz for making this all possible If you want to go see State of Origin the NRL Grand Final Bathurst whatever it might be or join us on this trip boystrip.co.nz Get stuck in There's only a couple of tickets left Really? Be quick There's only a couple out of Wellington a couple out of Christchurch Wow I'd fly down to Wellington even though I live in Auckland Yeah Fly out of Wellington Yeah I'd do that Yeah Just to be part of the trip It's well worth it Do you like the raconteurs?
17:07Mike Minogue:Who does? Yeah that's right You're on the big show The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. ACDC on the Hauraki Big Show. Thursday afternoon with Keezy Mogey and Old Pug-san. Let's chat TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
17:29Yes. Last night, fellas, I watched Mission Impossible. Did you? Mission Impossible 6. Really? Yeah. You were watching the same movie that we were watching. I couldn't concentrate because there was some drunk bastard commentating the whole thing. Are you talking about Pug Son? Was that you, man? Me? Nah, but I did watch it, and it was the last in the series. Now, I love the Mission Impossible movies because I love Tom Cruise, so I think he's great. But the last one's garbage. Really? It's a real shame. They really left it on a low. Probably the worst in the series, if I'm being honest. Convoluted.
18:08Why do they get so convoluted? With the storylines and all that sort of thing. You know, you're like, I don't want to have to concentrate on this, man. There was a lot of chitty chat from when I turned it on and started commentating.
18:19Jason Hoyte:So there was even more chitty chat. But it was just them talking for like 20 minutes, nothing happened, and then the action started, and even that was kind of shit ass. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that hasn't been the way with those films because they're normally unbelievable. The action's amazing. The chitty chat's chitty chat, but then the action makes up for it. But in the last one, they were sort of riding around on tiger moths and old planes and that. So he's got to do his big stunt. But then a couple of films before that, he was hanging off the side of a Hercules. Right. And that goes faster and is bigger than a tiger moth.
18:49So now you're on a tiger moth, sure, it's high, but it's smaller and it's slower. So it wasn't as interesting.
18:57Mike Minogue:So you'd rather him hanging out the back of a Hercules? I'd love to see him hanging out the back of a Hercules. How many buzzies out of five would you give it? Honestly, I can't recommend it, so I give it one. Wow, one Buzzy. Yeah, yeah, I just can't recommend it. Fair enough. Last night, I was in Jason Hoyt's room, responsibly steamed with old Pugs on there, and we had a pizza party after the Dunedin live show. Yeah. And we watched the last 20 minutes of a movie I had never seen before, Fight Club. Tell you what, hell of an ending. Hell of an ending. Really liked it. Really, really liked it. and I can only imagine what the first, I don't know, hour and a half is like.
19:36But you're not allowed to watch it because of your wife.
19:38Mike Minogue:She doesn't want to watch it, right? No, she doesn't want to watch it. It's also just one of those movies that everyone's like, it's like The Sixth Sense, the movie The Sixth Sense. Yes. I know the plot twist in that movie. Yeah. I've known the plot twist in this movie, and for some reason that is what has stopped me from watching it all these years. I know it's great. I know it's awesome. I know Brad Pitt's awesome. Edward Norton. Yeah. Helena Botham Carter. So by the way, bottom? What did I say? Bottom. Bottom, yeah. The whole time Jace was going on about how much he loves her as an actress, by the way.
20:09Mike Minogue:Yeah. And how much better she's gotten as her career has progressed. Yeah. Right. But I've got to say, final 20 minutes of Fight Club, four and a half buzzies out of five. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Really good. It was really good. It's a top five film for me. Right. All time, yeah. So is it annoying that I haven't seen it? I'm shocked you've even seen that much of it, to be honest. You know what I know about your viewing habits, that you've seen probably 10 ,000 hours of country calendar, a billion hours of location, location, location, and only half an hour of one of the greatest films ever made. It makes sense.
20:43Jason Hoyte:Pugs was there too. How many buzzies do you give the last 20 minutes? Have you seen it, man? I've seen it many times, but not in a long time. So it was really, really nice to revisit that last 20 minutes. I'd give the, yeah, probably four and a half as well. It was nice because Pugs stopped commentating at that point because he had pizza in his mouth. Yeah, it was great.
20:58Mike Minogue:Scoffing it down. Joy Division.
21:03Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. That's right. It is the Hauraki Big Show for Thursday, the 23rd of April, 2026 with Keezy, Mogi and Pugs-san. Hoody J back Tuesday. But, of course, the Big Show is brought to you by Toledo's.
21:19Jason Hoyte:Out with the old, in with the future, Toledo's electrolytes, clean, cutting-edge hydration. Get it in, yeah. Yeah, good stuff, Pugs-san. Oh, sorry. Two.
21:36Mike Minogue:Toledos. Good clapping, Mogey. Right on the beat. Thanks, guys. Yeah, you're getting better. Have you got not perfect pitch, but perfect timing? I've got perfect rhythm. Totally. You should see me dance. Someone's text here, by the way. Hey, where's Hoity Jade today? Now, he's taken the old Thursday Friday off. He's turned his long weekend into a really long weekend. Yeah. He's going over to Aussie for a wedding. That's right. He might even be at the airport at the moment. If I had to guess where he was, I'd say he'd be sitting in a chair with his headphones on, looking down into his lap. In his hand, he'll have his phone, which has fallen apart.
22:16It is in two pieces. There's the shell of the phone, and there's all of the things that go into the shell of the phone. And he'll be watching Trump videos. The funny thing is, you decided to play a prank on him this morning, didn't you?
22:27Mike Minogue:When his phone was still in the tray after we went through security. We went through security. He went away to put his shoes on and left his phone in the tray. This is at the airport in Dunedin. At the airport. I grabbed the phone to play a little trick on him. Unfortunately, through his milky eyes, he saw me take his phone, even though he didn't know that he was missing it. And as I picked it up, the whole thing fell apart in my hands. It was like an ice cream that had the ice cream fall out of the cone. It is held together with hope. It's hope. And not very much. And really old sticky tape. And it has dead burn patches in the screen.
23:00I don't know what's going on. He's a tight ass.
23:02Jason Hoyte:That's what's going on. It is beyond belief. His argument was that, oh, if I get a new phone, I'm going to have to run a whole new setup. No, that was if he gets an iPhone. And so he doesn't want to do that because he's had one of them before. And I quote, they are shit.
23:20Mike Minogue:Yeah, well, to be honest, if I'm going to trust anyone's judgment when it comes to something like that. It's going to be Hoity J. But yeah, he'll be back on the Tuesday. Coming up later this hour, a chance for you to win a double pass to go see these sold-out waas in Wellington this Saturday. In the meantime, let's get into some fooies, eh, fellas?
23:35Jason Hoyte:Yeah! The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
23:42Mike Minogue:Dandy Warhols on the Hauraki Big Show. 14 minutes past 5 this Thursday afternoon with Keezy, Mogi, and Pugsan. Hoity J back on Tuesday, and just on Hoity J, fellas, while he's away. I recently made a bet with him. He is to give up vaping and smoking for the entire month of May. To be fair, you made a bet with me, Keezy. Yeah, true. About him. About him. And I always do these things with his best interests in mind. And it always gets met with a 50-50 split of people texting on 3483 saying, hey, I'm going to give up as well, Hoity J, we can do this. And the other half being like, Keezy, stop being a killjoy.
24:15Mike Minogue:It's the one thing he has left in life. Let him vape is pretty much the reception I get. The issue I've got, Moggy, is I've been paying extra close attention to Hoity J the last week, and I have noticed that, well, straight up, I'm going to lose the bet straight away. Yeah. You noticed that, did you? But I have false belief in Hoity J for some reason. I want him to get off the darts. Pugs, you must want him to get off the darts.
24:39Jason Hoyte:I think your belief is honorable yet naive. Right. I want him to get off the darts as well, despite my actions yesterday at the live show, which were to give him the darts that he won by losing the throbber. You brought them out at breakfast. But also, if he's going to give up, Keezy, he's going to be met with occasions where he's going to see cigarettes and he just needs to not smoke them. That's how it works. You can't just tell everybody else that they now need to not. Why should pugs of all people be robbed of the joys of smoking cigarettes? Which is his favourite pastime. Hang on. Exactly.
25:14Only just to stop Hoity J. If 40J wants to give up smoking Then he should It's got nothing to do with pugs
25:21Mike Minogue:Actually you're right Because otherwise it's a situation Where unless I'm sort of With him at all times Fending off darts and vapes He's just going to dive straight You can't do that forever When you do that It makes him want the more Because they're forbidden Yes And because it annoys you Well yeah Yeah I almost feel like At this point He's not giving it up for He's giving it up for his health But he'll get back on them To annoy me The trouble is I don't think you understand The relationship that you've got, you think by showing faith in him that that makes him want to do good. But you showing faith in him annoys him.
25:54Really? He doesn't want you to believe in him. Do you really? Do you think so? If you said to him, Jase, there's no way you could give up. I bet you$100 you can't give up. There's no way Jase would want to see you, Keezy, proved wrong, and he would do it easily. He would give up for a month, no problem. But because you believe in him, and now there's an opportunity for you to lose money to me. Yeah. Which he thinks is hilarious.
26:21Mike Minogue:The thing that I can see happening too is that he's going to get until the last day of May and then he's going to vape in front of me in the studio and then watch me hand over cash. I think it's going to be minute one, day one. This is so like, I just don't know what to do here. Can I just give you the money right now? What's so great about it is you're legit stressed about it. Yes. And I'm getting, the month hasn't even started. It's a week away. I've already had my money's worth out of this. If I do somehow manage to lose this, I've already got$200 worth of entertainment out of this. We're over a week away, are we?
26:54I'm looking at my watch like I can read it.
26:56Mike Minogue:It's the 23rd. So we're a week away. Pugs, I've noticed you don't have any skin in the game on this bet, man. Do you not want Horty J to get off the darts and the vape?
27:05Jason Hoyte:Do you think it would be advantageous if I pulled the I don't believe that you could do it? Oh, yeah, because he hates you too. Exactly. And there may be. you'll win your bet and then I'll lose a bet
27:17Mike Minogue:the issue with that though Pugs is that he'll find it a bit rich coming from you because of the amount of darts you smoke every day
27:23Jason Hoyte:I don't, don't it's not the problem with that is I would have to take the bet like who are you betting? true because that's going to hurt my chances of winning and that would zero out your bet so I'm not doing that blind melon The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
27:45Mike Minogue:Smashing Pumpkins on the Hodaki Big Show. 24 minutes past five this Thursday afternoon with Keezy, Mogi and Pug-san. And this Saturday, Mogi, the old wa's there taking on the Dolphins down in Wellington at the Caketon. I'm actually going down. Really? Yep. Going to the game? Nah. I'm going down for my sister-in-law's 30th birthday party, which will be on at the same time as the Warriors game. Now, she's going to have it on the telly, or what's the... I think you might find that there's a fair amount of people sort of hanging around old Mo Gennar's phone or something like that. I don't think when my sister-in-law, Samira, was born that she thought to herself, you know, in 30 years, this is going to be a massive clash with Dolphins v.
28:32Waz at Westpac Stadium. So it is a huge clash. The Waz are going good. If the Waz are going bad, it's not so difficult, is it? But the Waz are going good. So I'll certainly be watching it.
28:42Mike Minogue:It's funny, too, because you obviously aren't that close with her because as soon as you found out we had a double pass, you were like, well, I might just say that. Yeah, I did say that. I did say that. But we've offered it out to the listeners. Instead, let's go randomly to a caller. Jade, you there, man? Jade, yeah, mate, yeah. How you going, boys? Yeah, bloody good, mate. How are you today, man? Oh, bloody stakedly winning these takeouts, I'll tell you what. Hey, don't get ahead of yourself, Jade. Don't get ahead of yourself, brother. Hey, whereabouts in the Horefeno are you from?
29:13Jason Hoyte:Mate, you know the place, Levin Hey! Oh God, we're all those high school cronies Yeah man, did we go to school together, Jake? No, we didn't make none of that, I'm an important person Good on you mate Is that right? There's not many people move to Levin It's a great spot Mostly you find that elderly people retire there, Keezy Because Levin is nice and flat There's no hills to walk up Right, okay, and that's good enough reason to sort of That's why old people move there, and that's why the op shopping is so good in Levin, because so many old people die there. Oh, wow. Hey, Jayden, are you going to die there, man?
29:51Jason Hoyte:Man, I'm hopefully not with a game.
29:53Mike Minogue:Yeah, wow. Yeah, true, true, actually. That's the spirit. Who are you going to take with you to the game there, Jayden? If you say mogi, I'm going to be fuming.
30:01Jason Hoyte:Oh, no, I've got a couple of guys I really want to take, but it'll be a bit of a toss-up. We'll have to see how it goes.
30:06Mike Minogue:Yeah, you'll have to toss up with those two dudes. A couple of guys you really want to take. Bloody good news, Jay. That double pass is yours, mate, all right?
30:14Jason Hoyte:Woo-hoo. Thank you very much. That's so cool.
30:17Mike Minogue:No worries, mate. You have a bloody good time. Sold out, caked in the Waz, taking on the Dolphins there, mate. Have a bloody ripper of a time, all right?
30:24Jason Hoyte:You guys are awesome. Thanks so much. Good on you, mate. Good on you, mate.
30:27Mike Minogue:It's going to be an interesting one, Mogi, because the Dolphins, they are a team that have a lot of points in them. They've got strike weapons across the park. But they took on the Panthers last week in essentially a golden point thriller in Darwin with 90 % humidity. Yes. And they did that thing where they split the game into quarters rather than just having half time. Did they really? There was a 20-minute break in each half where they all had to stop. They had bags of ice on their heads, and they were drinking electrolytes. I didn't even spot that. Yeah, 100%. And traditionally in rugby league, when teams come from a game like that that just sucks all the juice out, both the Panthers and the Dolphins are going to struggle to get up this week is the theory.
31:10Well, doubly so when you consider that they're not going to be in Darwin. They're going to be in Wellington.
31:15Mike Minogue:Yeah. Not known for its great weather, which I looked up earlier in the week, scheduled for nine degrees at kickoff. Oh, my God. That's so good. Nine degrees at kickoff. So you've got to imagine the Dolphins, having played Golden Point last week, are going to be absolutely over it the moment they get off the plane. Yeah. Now, just on this, and we're going to get into this a little later on, old Keezy's running another pot on this game. Oh, yeah. Okay? So I'm currently$1 ,500 in the negative. But if you want to somehow join in on that, more details later on. But the Warriors taking on the Dolphins this Saturday night at 8 p.m.
31:48Mike Minogue:Coming up shortly, another chance to get yourself in the draw for Magic Round, plus a best-of moment from the Hauraki Big Show, which involves all four of us where none of us were hungover and no one had laryngitis. It's coming up soon on The Big Show. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. LMNOP on The Hauraki Big Show. Thursday afternoon with Keezy Mogi and old Pug-san. And, Mogi, I'm going to be honest, man, we are not in good shape right now. You're not, are you? Well, I mean, all three of us. No, no, I'm good as gold. Yeah, I'm actually coming right. Pugs, come on, man.
32:18Mike Minogue:You are so hungover right now. And I am too. Huge evening, very successful evening in Dunedin last night. I can't wait to get back down there later in the year. Mogi, you're on the back of a – is it laryngitis? What is it? Sinusitis. Sinusitis. Sinusitis has flared up again. So, yeah, bad throat, bad honker. Generally a ripper of a honker. Such a great honker. World-class honker. Totally. That's what they're saying. So, yeah, I've been rough as guts. A couple of days off this week, which I was thrilled about. But I feel like I'm on the up, but it's still a headache. Look, I feel like I can do it with a break.
32:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, well, I'll tell you what. How about you have a break for a few minutes here? Pugsan has found us a best of the big show moment. when we're all healthy and firing. This one involves Hoity J, am I right?
33:01Jason Hoyte:Yes, Hoity J making a huge announcement after an historic death. There's nothing worse than letting rumours just sort of simmer out there in the ethos and then the Chinese whispers start. Can't say that. Just whispers. Just whispers. Just rumours.
33:17Mike Minogue:Hold on a sec, sorry. That's shocking, man. That's shocking. Racism alert. Sorry about that, Keezy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry, Keezy. Because you're part Japanese. Yeah, yeah. Sorry, Moogie.
33:28Jason Hoyte:Racism alert. Racism alert.
33:31Mike Minogue:Carry on with your rumours, man. Are you, though? Yeah, I'm one-eighth Japanese.
33:34Jason Hoyte:Oh, okay. So what's the equivalent of Chinese whispers then? Stop. Rumours.
33:41Mike Minogue:Just rumours.
33:41Jason Hoyte:Oh, sorry.
33:42Mike Minogue:So like a rumour. So for example, the rumour, Jase, there's a rumour going around that you're not 43. But there's a rumour going around. Well, I'll address that one head on. There's a rumour going around that you've got a tiny downstairs. Yeah.
33:54Jason Hoyte:You see, this is what I mean, is that they get out of hand when that's obviously not true. Yeah. I've got a dong like you wouldn't believe.
34:02Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. Well, the rumour going around is that the more you say that, the tinier it is. Oh, tinier it is.
34:07Jason Hoyte:I mean, who's been saying that? People in the office. There's a rumour going around that the biggest thing on you is your honker. Oh!
34:14Mike Minogue:That's not a rumour, Mogi, because that's, like, apparent for all to see.
34:17Jason Hoyte:Yeah, yeah.
34:19Mike Minogue:But anyway, continue. This is what I mean.
34:21Jason Hoyte:Now, obviously, we heard the news yesterday of the sad passing of Pope Francis.
34:26Mike Minogue:That's right.
34:29Jason Hoyte:And significant news for Catholics around the world, for all spiritualities around the world.
34:35Mike Minogue:Well, to be fair, I think the Pope would be one of the most well-known people on the entire planet. What's his last name? Francis. So he is certainly someone that everyone hears the Pope has passed away. They all know who he is, and they go, well, it's a huge deal.
34:50Jason Hoyte:And can I just make the point about Pope Francis? I thought he was a great Pope. He had a lot of humanity and spirituality, Well, and then I believed a lot of the things he said. Right. He could do a yard glass in under a minute. Wow. Apparently so, yeah. It was amazing. Now, listen, this is where I get to addressing the rumours part. It's been chucked out there. There's been whispers on the street as I was walking in from the car park today. Even when I walked into the office, everyone just went silent. And I went, oh, God, they've reached the bloody workplace now. This is what happens. Yeah, right.
35:25Jason Hoyte:That old hooty Jay might be in contention to be the next pope.
35:29Mike Minogue:Yeah, I haven't heard. Oh, okay. Now, can I just put an end to it right there and then?
35:36Jason Hoyte:Yeah. Okay? And if that were the case, I'd be the first Scientologist pope in history. Are you a Scientologist? Oh, did you not know that? No, okay. I thought that was just a rumour. Wow. So let's just cut it off right there. Okay. Let's shut it down. Right, but. I am not in contention to be the next Pope.
35:57Mike Minogue:Yeah, right, because had you heard those rumours? I hadn't heard those rumours, not specifically. I'd heard other rumours about you. Oh, right. Heaps of rumours. Sure, sure. Like your downstairs is overrun with lice. Is that true?
36:08Jason Hoyte:Well, not lice. Right, okay. That's my Dobie's itch that's come back again. It's not lice. It's another thing altogether.
36:16Mike Minogue:If you were, let's just say, because often, Jase, when there's smoke, there's fire. That's true. So he could be playing it down because... Especially when you're talking about my downstairs. Okay, see, this is what we... So I think the fact that you're bringing it up and trying to sort of nip it in the bud, you could be in line to be the next Pope. Nip it in the butt.
36:32Jason Hoyte:Well, you see, this is the sort of other... It's a double-edged sword when you confront a rumour about yourself. You know what I mean? Is me thinks he doth protest too much. Yes. Sort of aspect of it.
36:43Mike Minogue:So with that in mind, I think we should open up the text machine. 3483, what should Jace's Pope name be when he was elected Pope? Oh, that's good. Yeah. Because I've just done some research here. If you were to become, not saying you are, if you were to become the next Pope, there are traditional ones. You can pick a name of a past Pope who you believe, the same values as you. You can, if you want to be bold, pick your own name. Sure. So 3483, what should Hoity J's Pope name be? This will be good. Pope Hoity J. I don't know, is Jizz taken? Pope Jizz. If you are ever in need of the big show and we aren't on the radio between the hours of four and seven, Check out the Highlights podcast.
37:19Mike Minogue:It comes out every single day, plus bonus content. Every single show we've ever done available, wherever you get your podcasts from.
37:25Jason Hoyte:The Horaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Horaki. Let's put another mad bastard on the bed.
37:35Mike Minogue:Yes, it is the Rugby League fans' ultimate long weekend. 16 NRL teams battling it out in eight awesome head-to-head clashes across three glorious days at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium. I've been looking at the weather there, fellas. Yeah. Unfortunately for Aussie in that area, it's meant to be a bit of a drought coming, coinciding with that approximate time that we're going to be over there. Right. So over the three days, it's going to be bloody hot. Seriously, it is. Seriously, man. 100%. You know how I know? Because I've been looking at the weather? Yeah. Stole that piece of information from another podcast.
38:06Mike Minogue:That's nice, man. Good on you, brother. But how good is that that, you know, things are starting to get cold here in New Zealand, we're going to head over to the magic round and it's going to be absolutely boiling. Shall we see who else is going to join us, potentially? Let's see. G'day, Nick, you mad bastard. How's life, mate?
38:21Jason Hoyte:Oh, yeah, no, good, mate. How are you, Keezy?
38:23Mike Minogue:Yeah, bloody ripper there, Nick. Where are you calling from, man?
38:26Jason Hoyte:Calling from Chichur, the mighty Chichur.
38:28Mike Minogue:Yeah, what? Christchurch. Actually, are you going to go to Super Round this weekend, man?
38:32Jason Hoyte:Oh, mate, I missed the ticket. I went to the VA. Oh, yeah? I missed the ticket to the old Crusaders game and not too interested in the Blues or the Hurricanes. That's the spirit.
38:43Mike Minogue:Yeah, fair enough, mate, fair enough. Are you going to go to the old WARS game down there later on in the year? Missed out on that too, mate. Oh, you're having a shocker, man. This is your last chance.
38:52Jason Hoyte:Yeah, yeah.
38:53Mike Minogue:Hey, Nick, if you were to win this prize, mate, who would you bring with you to Brizzy? Yeah, look, I'd try and get around having to take the misses, and I'd aim to get Ricky Nicholson over there. Oh, Ricky. Old Sticky Ricky. Yeah, Sticky Ricky. God, Icky Ricky, we call him. Mad dog. You call him Dicky Ricky. Why is that, Pugs? Ah, because he's a dick. Far out, man. He says it like it is. All pugs are out, eh? Yeah, pugs are out. I don't know, man. Hey, Nick, you're in the draw, brother. You hold the line all right?
39:21Jason Hoyte:Beauty, cheers.
39:22Mike Minogue:Good on you, mate. All right, Rand, let's go to Justin. G'day, mate. How you going? Yeah, good, mate.
39:27Jason Hoyte:Very good.
39:28Mike Minogue:What do you do for a crust, Justin? Measure it, Gelux. Oh, Gelux paint. Oh, nice. Yeah, backbone. Is there a shade of paint there called backbone something? I'm sure we'd make one for you, Teezy. Yeah, good on you, man. Thanks, man. Keezy's got his own personal paint.
39:46Jason Hoyte:Yeah.
39:47Mike Minogue:They were coming up in the world. Hey, Justin, if you win the prize, mate, who are you bringing?
39:51Jason Hoyte:I'm going to take my son. He's just turned 18, and, yeah, he'd have a great time.
39:57Mike Minogue:Bloody oath. He would. Just turned 18, going to Caxton Street, going to Suncorp. That is a recipe for trouble. I like it, Justin. You hold the line too, mate. All right, you're in the draw. Cheers, mate. Good on you. We've got time for one more. Yeah, man. Yeah, go on. G'day, Mason. How you going, man?
40:12Jason Hoyte:G'day, fellas. Good, thank you. How are you, boys?
40:14Mike Minogue:Yeah, good, mate. You on your way home from work?
40:17Jason Hoyte:Yeah, mate. Just pulling into the driveway now. Oh, how good, man. If you won this, mate, so let's imagine you did for a second, brother. Who would you take with you? Great question. Probably my missus. Nah. Oh. Mate, he's got me all tickets to the Ys this weekend, so he'd be good as not to. Oh, you're good on you, mate.
40:36Mike Minogue:What's his name, sorry?
40:38Jason Hoyte:Oh, Dermot. Dermot? Yeah.
40:41Mike Minogue:That is backbone shit, man. Dermot. Yeah. Not Dermot from Taranaki.
40:46Jason Hoyte:Yeah, that's the one. Not Dermot whose missus has got a 30th birthday this weekend. No, that's not Dermot. Okay, good. Just checking.
40:55Mike Minogue:It's not Dermot the Hermit, is it?
40:57Jason Hoyte:It is, actually, yeah. Dermot's always on the sherbet. It's not Dermot the Frog, is it? Dermot the Frog.
41:03Mike Minogue:Fire out. He's a man of many nicknames. He does, he does. Get on you, Mason. You're in the draw too, mate. Cross those fingers, brother. Thanks, mate. Thanks, mate. Mason and old Dermot on the lash together in Brizzy. Look out. Another chance to get yourself in the draw on tomorrow's Big Show. Sorry, guys. We're going to have to shut things off. But plenty more coming up after six, including another best of the Big Show moment. Plus, I understand Pugs has a bone to pick with old Mogey over there.
41:31Jason Hoyte:Sure do, man. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
41:40Mike Minogue:That's right, it is the Hodaki Big Show for Thursday, the 23rd of April, 2026. No hoity-jaber, you've got Keezy, Mogi and old Pugs on. And as always, the Hodaki Big Show brought to you by Toledo.
41:50Jason Hoyte:Out with outdated hydration. In with Toledo's, the new standard in clean electrolytes. Try it, feel it, get it in you.
42:03Jason Hoyte:Mogi.
42:06Mike Minogue:Toledo. Sorry. Sorry. Mogi's like way Pugs tell me I was just trying to time it a little bit Oh how'd it go How'd it go Because from my end it was slightly worse But as we all know my ears are on the piss They are man they're wonky brother You've got Your panning's all off My panties Your panning Okay sicko Jeez man You're a sicko Last night Last night Last night Last night in Dunedin Live show Hundreds of backbones there I reckon at least half of them When they were talking to me Were trying to angle themselves directly in front of me so that they could see both my ears at once. Yeah, I know.
42:42Mike Minogue:They kept doing it. You had to stand on tiptoes. They had to stand on tiptoes and then they'd sort of do a double take. Yeah. And be like, whoa. What? Whoa. Yeah. So between that and the whole meat patty nips thing, I had a good time. It's like an ice cream in the sense that one ear is melting and is sliding off the side of your head. Has anybody ever said that before, man? No, man, but I really appreciate it.
43:07Jason Hoyte:What are you having for tea tonight, pugs? I don't really know. Oh, actually, no, I do know. That's a lie. Some soup. I don't know if soup's a thing for you, given your hangover. Is it soup? Why? I guess if you've got the right amount of good bread, what kind of soup? We've got some bread. I'm a tomato soup fan with a little bit of spice in there. And then we've got some sourdough that will be with it. Yeah, which will be lovely. And that'll be just sort of a rush job before I go to the movies. And then you'll have heaps of popcorn and chocolate and ice creams and shit. And shit.
43:37Mike Minogue:Hell yeah. Yeah, well, you go to the movies. That's what it's all about. I personally am having Thai. Thai. Thai. Thai. Probably, I hate to be basic about it, but I'm probably going to get the old peanut satay. Yum. My local Thai does a good peanut satay chicken, man. So good. This is good stuff, man. What's wrong with that? When I'm a bit dusty, man, it makes me feel better. What are you having, Mogi? Tofu? According to my wife, we've got a guest coming over tonight, so we might do chicken, do a laksa. Oh, wow. Malaysian. I love a laksa. I love a laksa. I love an illusion. What are you doing for dinner, New Zealand?
44:11Mike Minogue:I don't care because it's not What's for Tea New Zealand tonight. I do actually care, but it's not tonight. This is a tight show we're running. Come on, man. What are we getting into here, there, Pugsun? What do we got? Is this the hives?
44:22Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show.
44:24Mike Minogue:Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Soundgarden there on the Hauraki Big Show. Thursday evening with Keezy Mogey and Pugsun. Hey, fellas, I've got a bone to pick.
44:33Jason Hoyte:Oh, God. I got a bone to pick. And obviously it was a great night last night in Dunedin. Shit, yeah, you had a great night, didn't you? Yeah, yeah. Well, I thought we had a great one together. We did. Would you agree? Yeah, 100%. Yeah, yeah. And also when you were there, Moggy, we had a great night together before you left. So a great afternoon together. Yeah, man. Sort of into the evening. But, you know, it was a pretty slow start to the day today for reasons that are unbeknownst to me. Because you were hung over massively. You were in bits. Unforeseen circumstances. and took the flight home today.
45:09Jason Hoyte:And, you know, I was trying to sort of speed up the process of getting back home. And sometimes by doing that, you sort of take a little nap. Take a little nap. You speed up the process of getting home by taking a nap. You do, because then it's like you wake up and say, oh, my gosh, we're already home. Or, like, we're closer to home. And also my AirPods died on the plane and my phone was on 4%, so I didn't have much else to do. Can you speed up the process of picking this bone, please? And so I fell asleep. Now, I am aware of the fact that when I fall asleep, I've got a very relaxed jaw and particularly if I lean my head back or tilt my head back which is quite a comfortable way for me to sleep my jaw sort of slips down there and I look like I'm trying to catch flies You were gaping I had a massive gaping hole in the front of my head and Mogi, you thought that was a good idea to record me and post that publicly on your story with the caption, how hot?
46:02Jason Hoyte:At Mr Mike Minogue on Instagram Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you want to go see it, it's up there now. It's running hot, man. People are loving it, by the way. I did not repost that on the Horeki Big Show Instagram story. I noticed that. Yeah. And I noticed that you told old Big Dilly not to do it either. I didn't tell him not to do it. Because he hasn't done it either. No, he read the room. Because when I came in and I mentioned it to him, he was like, oh, yeah, no, I thought I wouldn't repost that on the Horeki story.
46:27Mike Minogue:Do you feel bad when you post stuff like that, Mogi?
46:29Jason Hoyte:Post what?
46:30Mike Minogue:I don't know. Videos of him with his massive mouth hanging open. Massive gaping mouth. Well, people were loving it, man. And if it wasn't for that, it's probably the most reaction I've ever had to a story. It's got 800 laughing faces. Wow. Maybe I should reshare it. Laughing faces. You know, things like, he got a purdy mouth. Oh. It's one of the comments that came through. Well, that's nice. That's from Pat Jason Hoyt.
46:51Jason Hoyte:My chin totally disappeared into my neck. I didn't notice that. I just want straight line. Stick something in there. Is there another comment? Oh, yeah. Weirdly, somebody says, Keezy steamed again. I don't know what it's got to do with. See, that's nothing to do with me.
47:02Mike Minogue:It's Pug Sun. See? Not so funny now, is it, Keezy? Nah, it's pretty funny. Yeah, fair. This one from your partner.
47:10Jason Hoyte:Oh, great. State of it, eh? That's what I wake up to every morning. Lucky lady. Did she actually say that? She has not told me.
47:20Mike Minogue:State of it. Because, Pugs, when you see a video like that in a public sort of forum. And your volneys. Huh? And your volneys. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you're volneys and you're tired because you had a massive night and you punched a million darts like you always do. And you see a video like that. How did that make you feel? Yeah, how did it make you feel? Because it made me feel sick.
47:42Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy.
47:45Mike Minogue:Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Guns. Roses there on the Hauraki Big Show. Thursday night with Keezy, Mogi and old Pugsan. Mogi's got sinusitis. Me and Pugsan are dusty AF and Hoody J's on holiday. So let's return to a moment in time, Pugs, where the big show is firing on all cylinders.
48:04Jason Hoyte:What have you got for us? This is also from around about this time last year, Kesey. And this is when Mogi had a few family members visiting and they were really, really getting on your nerves. Sounds about right. I'm surrounded by bludgers. Okay. All right. So first of all, I've got my wife's brother stayed with us. Yeah. The first time he stayed with us was a few years ago. straight out of uni. He stayed with us for about five months. Sure. He was just a lump on the couch, man.
48:34Mike Minogue:Seems like a piss take. Didn't move, didn't do the dishes, didn't help with anything. Pathetic. Left skid marks in the bowl. Didn't he eat your steak lunch and you had to smack him over? No, this was recently. So that was, I'm talking the first time he stayed with us. He's back again anyway and he's been staying. Sure he's grown up. Sure he helps out around the place. Sure he pays for food. Sure he pays for utilities. Sure he steals my steak. But he was a bludger and he stayed for five months. finally got him out of the house today. Yes. Right? Who should turn up today? My stepmother. Right. She's on a cruise around the joint, turned up in Auckland.
49:07I've got to go pick her up so she can hang out with my daughter. Going to charge her petrol? You're damn straight I am. Good. Really? Then I have to go out for a little bit of work. I come home. Who's there now? My wife's mother. Your mother-in-law. Staying for three days. Right, okay. Did you know that was happening? Okay. Yes, I did. Oh. In fact, I said that would be lovely. Totally, man.
49:29Jason Hoyte:Can I just clarify, so your step-mum and your mother-in-law are staying? No. Oh, so you just picked your step-mother up to drop us somewhere else? My step-mother up, she'd come around and hang out for the day, and then she's gone back on the boat, she's heading off to Tahiti. Nice for some. Yeah, lovely for some. Then I turned around and got my mate staying with us.
49:45Mike Minogue:What's his name? He's staying for a few days. Oh, Tim, he's staying with us. Tim. So we go out and do a little bit of work around the joint today, and then he helps me out by going and picking up a power cable an hour away while I have a nap. Right. You see what I'm saying? Well, at least he's trying something, you know what I mean? Yeah, that seems good. It was annoying. That he did you a solid. Right. So I guess what I'm saying is how do I get it back to it just being me by myself? Oh, that's easy. With my wife and my kid. Oh, okay. That's more difficult. That is more difficult. I was going to say, just keep doing what you're doing, brother.
50:16Yeah, yeah.
50:19Mike Minogue:I guess when someone asks if they can come over, you could say no. But I say, nah, sure. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that'd be great. Okay, you can still say that, but do it like, Sure, yeah, that'd be great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But just kind of how I was just doing it.
50:36Jason Hoyte:Or you just... Oh, yeah. Or you can do it like, when they ask you, you go, Oh, um... Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Sure. Great. Incidentally, just on that, by the way, fellas.
50:53Mike Minogue:Or you can do like, Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Or I could go sort of like, um, yeah. Yeah. I wouldn't have thought of that, but. Can I just say. Or what's another way I could do it, James? Oh, you could go, ooh, ooh.
51:20Jason Hoyte:Sorry, hold on a minute.
51:24Jason Hoyte:Yeah, man, that should be. Oh, yeah, no, that's okay. Yeah, good, good. A little bit busy, but... Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll have to cancel the... No, but... All good.
51:40Mike Minogue:Sweet as. Yeah. Do you need me to pick you up? Oh, that's no trouble. Do you want me to go to ads?
51:50Jason Hoyte:Yeah. Sure.
51:54Mike Minogue:That was a best of the big show moment. That's a best of. It was the best. That's the best we've got. It's just like two minutes of a... Don't forget, every show we have ever done is available wherever you get your podcasts from, including bonus material. Coming up next on the show, the feelers, a bit of rancid to begin with, and also the Betcher Pot is open for this weekend's rugby league game, the Warriors taking on the Dolphins. If you want to lose some money, thanks to old Keezy, I'll tell you exactly how you can do that up next. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Green day there on the Hodaki Big Show.
52:27Mike Minogue:Thursday evening with old Keezy, Mogi and Pugsan. And Mogi, do you remember a few weeks ago, man, where I was put in charge of like a betting pot situation and the listeners gave me$1 ,500 and then I lost it all? Yeah, I remember it well. And this is my feeling about these things. It's always how it goes. So I'm glad that it's happening to you, Keezy. And the funny thing was, that was the game where the Warriors were taking on the Tigers. Yeah. I had a pot. Old Keezy was in charge of it. Listeners could join, all right? the way it works is you jump into bet social on the betcha app. You didn't use the invite code backbone to join the pot.
52:59Mike Minogue:Right. You didn't have direct access to me and the punters, the punters slash listeners, hard ticket to get. It's my sought after ticket in the biz, but they have a direct line of access of abuse to me. And the punters for some reason have jumped back in there and the pot is currently almost at$1 ,000. Right. Even though I lost all of it last time. So big shout out to everyone who's involved. please feel free to jump in and join as well. I think people pay for the right to be able to abuse you in the comments. Is that right? Which is a weird kind of like OnlyFans situation. Yeah. Where literally, yeah, you pay money, you get in there, you abuse me, and then maybe I'll help you get some more money back.
53:37That's slightly different to OnlyFans from my understanding.
53:39Mike Minogue:Oh, no, I put pictures of my downstairs in there as well. Oh, yeah, cool. Okay, then. But this weekend, the Warriors are taking on the Dolphins, and I'm going to be so vanilla with my betting. It is going to be, it has to be not surefire because nothing is ever surefire, but I'm going to be so safe and boring. You were also vanilla last time because you assumed that the Warriors were going to towel up the Fin. The Tigers. Sorry, the Tigers. And at that stage, that was understandable. If that game was being played this weekend because the Tigers had been going so well, you would have gone probably a little bit different.
54:08But this game has got banana skin written all over it. 100 % it does. Number one, it's against the Dolphins. They've got an incredible back line. We should towel them up in the forwards. We should. but they have got game breakers all over the park and it's the sort of game that we would lose. And in fact, they've probably got it over us. And factor in that it's in Wellington, Mogey,
54:29Mike Minogue:and historically the WARS play a bit weird. Although we have won our last four out of five down there. Oh, great. Okay. So I'm going to be so vanilla. The last thing I did too last time was I just let the people on the chat tell me who I should place punts on. Yeah. And they were like, oh, Keezy, put a bet on bloody who's paying the most. And obviously Tanner Stowers-Smith, who comes off the bench for the Waz and hasn't looked like scoring a try in his entire career. So naturally I put money on that. It didn't happen. Then, oh, Keezy, where did bloody lose all that? Yeah. I mean, it's funny. But this week I am doing it differently.
55:04Mike Minogue:So I'm doing my research. Here's what I'm thinking. You know Trey Fuller? Have you heard of Trey Fuller? No. He's a little fella that whenever the fullback for the Finns is injured or away, this little fella plays at fullback, and he's awesome on attack. But he's seriously tiny. He's like Jace's height. What's that, like 3 '7"? Yeah, 3 '1", yeah. And he's really gunned, but they're putting him in centre this week. Ooh, okay. So they're shifting things around. The person who he will be marking is Ali Leitawa. Yeah. Anytime try score is what I'm thinking. Sure. And then you've got to go for whoever's opposite.
55:38Mike Minogue:Dallin. Dallin. Selwyn Cobbo. Cobbo for a hat trick. Cobbo for it. No, I can't bet against the Warriors like that, but I probably will be putting a cheeky one on him. You have to have something as insurance. Yeah, happiness insurance. It just makes me feel sick. But once again, if you want to get involved with this pot, I don't know why you would, but if you want to jump in, get the Betcher app and then go to BetSocial, my mates, join pot, Type in Backbone and boom, you are in there. There's a sign-up offer at the moment as well. New customers get$100 bonus cash when you sign up and deposit$50.
56:11Mike Minogue:R18 bet responsibly. Only do it if you can afford to lose the cash because if you're getting in bed with old Keezy.
56:18Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
56:31Mike Minogue:Well, that is The Big Show. Done and Dusted for Thursday, the 23rd of April, 2026, with Keezy, Mogi and old Pugsana over there.
56:39Jason Hoyte:Hey, Pugs, have we got an outro clip tonight, man? Yeah, we do. The podcast outro today, largely a further breakdown of our time in Dunedin and being hungover in general.
56:49Mike Minogue:The fridge was really f***ing loud. It was like someone starting a diesel truck in my room. That was good. I didn't notice that. And I was like, what the f***? I often turn those off, though. The fridge? Yeah. And warming.
57:01Jason Hoyte:Oh. You get it, eh? Yeah. Yeah. Because you're ugly. I get it. I get it. I hear you.
57:09Mike Minogue:I've absolutely hit the wall now, eh? Really? Yeah, man. I'm ready for bed. Because the interesting thing is that podcast outro comes out at 7.30 tonight. Yeah. Listen to how sprightly Mogi is in it. He is loving how hungover me and Pugsana. Yeah. Now I've got nothing. If it makes you feel better, for some reason I feel like I could go to town. Ah. On what? I don't know. satay chicken curry. Oh, you're a big man. Yeah, some kind of takeaways. Hell yeah, baby. So what are you doing then, Mogi? I'm going home. I've got my brother-in-law's here from Australia and his cousin and my wife's cousin is over for dinner tonight.
57:45Oh my gosh. So I'm going to go home. I'm going to walk in. I'm going to fill my plate up with laksa or whatever it was. What did we say? A laksa, yeah. And then I'm going to go to bed and I'm going to eat it in bed and I'm not going to talk to anyone. Because my concern, Kesey, is other people and I don't want to get other people sick. Yeah, right. You know what I mean? with this non-contagious thing that I've got. But I've got no chat. I'm all chatted out. It's been a busy day, man. Coming back from Dunedin, that flight is an absolute punish. So, yeah, I'm dusted. Oh, gee.
58:12Mike Minogue:Pugs, man, obviously, you're like me. We had a big night last night, so straight home, eat a big meal there, curl up on the couch, go to bed early.
58:20Jason Hoyte:Yeah, man, so I'm going to the movies tonight. I'm going to go watch a horror. Lee Cronin's The Mummy. He directed the Last Evil Dead movie, and apparently it's absolutely psychotic. Matt Heath, big horror fan, said it was the scariest thing he's seen in a hot minute. Oh, really? Yeah, he said he was terrified. Right. And I'm going with a few people from work. So you're going to go see that whilst hungover and very tired. Yep. But I'm going to have a tamati soup first. Hey, can I just say, don't fall asleep, man. Yes. There's enough scary shit. It'll be in the dark, Mogey. It'll be fine. Nah, there's enough scary shit.
58:49Jason Hoyte:Have no good day without that.
58:50Mike Minogue:Hey, thank you so much for listening to The Big Show. Don't forget to check out our Instagram slash Facebook and the podcast as well. Until tomorrow, 4 p.m., we'll see you later. Thank you. Bye. Thank you.
