In short
The Hauraki Big Show discusses the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow (including a “full rundown” of sports), plus segments on pies/air-fryer cooking and a $250 giveaway, TV recommendations (Friday Night Lights, The Giver, Black Books), a “fitness” debate about who’s fittest on the show, pigeon-racing updates (pigeon 109), and comedic talk about antibiotics side effects and “aging well” signs.
Key claims
Hopscotch and knuckle bones are Commonwealth Games events; “bull rush” and “brown eye championship” are mentioned as day-specific events; fitness can be measured differently (gym strength vs running vs aerobic fitness); the team’s racing pigeon may be mis-tagged/scammy; antibiotics commonly cause diarrhea and other odd side effects; GOAT music countdown voting starts Monday with texting GOAT to 3483.
Notable examples
“Hopscotch” described as professional chalk-box dimensions; “sack race” and “wheelbarrow race” referenced; Cam wins $250 with a potato top pie; pigeon 109 has a visible “7” tag and is questioned against “Bird 103” text.

0:09Keyzie:Welcome, this is Big to the Hauraki Big Show. Really Big. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. It's great to have your company on this moody Thursday afternoon. It is the 23rd of July, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Yummy.
0:31Mike Minogue:Beef, chicken, vegan, and vegetarian options are available. Reburger are redefining the norm.
0:36Keyzie:The name's burger. Dish, dish, dish. Reburger.
0:45Keyzie:Oh, I love it. I love it. I'll tell you what else I love is the stallion across the studio from me. How are you going, Mogi? You were crook yesterday. You were a lot better today, apparently, you're stud. Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. Look, I'm still not a hundy, but I'm 100 % better than I was yesterday, fellas. Yeah, man. Jeez, it wasn't good. Just lying in a pool of my own filth and other people's filth as well. Yeah, nice. Don't know how that got in there, Keezy. Hey? And you've still got your jacket on, man?
1:16Mike Minogue:Well, I mean, I've got a jacket on. I haven't been wearing the same jacket for three days straight. Oh, have you not? Nah.
1:22Keyzie:Okay. Do you rotate your jackets, Keezy? What? Do you rotate your jackets? I mean, do you not like to wear the same jacket three days? Like, I'll wear my jacket all week.
1:33Mike Minogue:No shit. And that hoodie. And that hat. Mr. I'm not wearing a hat anymore.
1:39Keyzie:Well, the only reason I wear a hat. Is that your new nickname? I've been away for one day, and I come back, and your new nickname is Mr. I'm not going to wear a hat anymore? Yeah, I know. It's incredible.
1:49Mike Minogue:It's one of those ironic ones.
1:51Keyzie:We're a fast-evolving show, Mogey, as you know. The only reason I do wear a hat is because my head gets chilly. Even though I've got luxurious hair, I do need something on top to keep me a bit cosy.
2:04Mike Minogue:It's because of all that cold air you're sucking in through that schnoz. It's good to have the team back together, isn't it? Yeah, totally, totally.
2:12Keyzie:Hey, Mogey, what's coming up on the show, mate?
2:19Keyzie:What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi? Well, the month's drawing closer to an end, but it's still July, baby, and that means we're doing Bear and Pie July, and we're doing the Pies That Pay. Stay tuned, listen out for the queue to call, and you could win yourself$250 worth of cold, hard cash, fellas. Beautiful. Also, we'll be doing a little bit more of Keezy's Pigeon.
2:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, I've got a huge update on the pigeons today, fellas. Oh, it's exciting. People have been stopping me in the street. Really? Yeah. About the pigeon? No, no, just having a chat. Oh. How are you feeling, Mogi? I love your shirt. That sort of stuff. And coming up next, we're going to be talking about, and this may surprise everyone out there, the Commonwealth Games, which I believe Hoytich is, or should I call you Mr. I'm Not Gonna Wear a Hat anymore. That's the one.
3:02Keyzie:It's starting tomorrow. Apparently so. News to me. Though most people wouldn't know that, but let's kick off with a bit of rage.
3:12Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:16Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the red. Chilly Peppers there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past four o 'clock. And I don't know about you, fellas, but I am absolutely fizzing. The Commonwealth Games starting off tomorrow in Glasgow, I believe. The sporting highlight of the year for me this is going to be.
3:38Mike Minogue:100%. Obviously, it comes around every four years, the Comm Games.
3:42Keyzie:Yes, man.
3:42Mike Minogue:And it is one of those things where it is bloody exciting because every morning you're going to wake up and there's going to be something from the other side of the globe, highlights to watch and stuff on during the day. Well, it's one of those things that you don't want to miss anything. You can just leave the TV on and there'll be either something happening live or some kind of highlights package coming your way. And then the Commonwealth Games, it's amazing, isn't it? It feels like it was just yesterday that the last one was on. It does. Kesey, what was your favourite event from the last Commonwealth Games?
4:10What was your favourite memory?
4:12Mike Minogue:From the last games. Oh, that's a tough one. Wait, how about this? Where was the last Commonwealth Games held? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
4:25Keyzie:In your own time, Kesey, I mean.
4:27Mike Minogue:There was one in Birmingham. Oh, there has been. When was that? Was it that one? It was Birmingham, eh? Yeah, it was. Yeah, yeah, nailed it.
4:37Keyzie:But what was your favourite event?
4:40Mike Minogue:Oh, big fan of the old hockey Oh yeah Yeah, yeah, nice Everybody loves that though
4:48Keyzie:Nice Do you have a favourite, Mokey? I mean, what do you sort of set your calendar by In terms of the events that are coming up? Well, I know on the first day it opens I think we've got the Lawn Bowls Over to day one That's followed up by the Hopscotch Yeah The what? Hopscotch Yeah, yeah Which I can't wait for
5:05Mike Minogue:Is that in the Comm Games? Oh yeah That's the one with That's just been introduced this year Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because now they put things in and out. Hopscotch is in there this year. And so just confirming, that's the one where like a kid draws like with a chalk, like a box thing. Well, no, they don't get a kid to do it. They get, you know. It's professional. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Professional hopscotch drawer. There are official dimensions. And then it's numbered one, two, three, four, five, side by side. Oh, yeah. Then six. Then seven, eight. Do the spin and back the other way. And do you come back?
5:34Right, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
5:35Keyzie:I'll be tuning in with our question on day four, Mogey, for the old knuckle bones.
5:44Mike Minogue:Oh, they've added that as well. Knuckle bones has been in there since day dot. Has it? Oh, yeah, very popular. Is that the one where you sort of you throw them up in the air and then you catch them on the back? And then you quickly grab them off the ground.
5:55Keyzie:I never mastered that. It's a bastard of a – and these athletes – Because of your sausage fingers, right? Yeah, well, that thing. There's different people that are good at different things. Now, for knuckle bones, you need to have short but lithe fingers. Yes. Lithe. Lithe fingers. And good eye, good hand-eye coordination. And pliant.
6:15Mike Minogue:Do we have any Kiwi athletes going that are well-known to compete in knuckle bones? Not really in the knuckle bones. Your great knuckle boners are traditionally there from further afield in the Pacific Islands, Easter Island, Rapa Nui, for example. Oh, wow. The Pacific Islands. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Very good. Very good. Do they have lithe fingers, do they? They have lithe fingers, yes.
6:38Keyzie:Yes, they do. Cornhole. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's a –
6:42Mike Minogue:You know how you just lob a bag into a hole?
6:45Keyzie:I love the tension of cornhole. Yes. You know what I mean? I think that actually in the last one, the old cornhole went to a playoff, didn't it? It did, yeah. Yeah, yeah, because it's good stuff. Day seven, I am not missing this, marbles.
7:06Well, that's going to be a late night, that one. I'll be up. Straight after the marbles is the first few rounds of the Egg and Spoon race. Yes, yes.
7:17Keyzie:Always very hotly contested. Do we have anyone competing in? Speaking of which, day 11, I believe, Keezy, the fan favourite, I think, overall, Bull Rush.
7:29Mike Minogue:Oh, wow, is that bad? Yeah, yeah, totally, man.
Read the full transcript
7:32Keyzie:That was bad.
7:33Mike Minogue:For a while there.
7:34Keyzie:Yeah, it was banned, but they still did it over in Europe, and they brought it back.
7:39Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. Yeah, I suppose. What about I heard on day 12, Duck, Duck, Goose. What? You know, Duck, Duck, Goose was... Never heard of it. Is it? That would cheapen the entire event, Keezy. Yeah, no, sorry, I just made that up. Although on day 11, they do have the Brown Eye Championship.
8:04Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
8:10Keyzie:She had there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 29 minutes past four o 'clock. We're talking the Commonwealth Games, which kick off tomorrow, of course, in Glasgow. And the fellas, we're fizzing about it.
8:23Mike Minogue:Certainly are, Jace. And what we thought would be handy is if we give you a general overview of all of the sports that are actually happening at the Commonwealth Games. Because it happens every four years. People get confused between that and the Olympics and other things as well. So just one full-blown rundown of everything, all right? So the first event we're going to see is bowls and paraboles, right? That's going to be the very first event. Paraboles is bowls but with para-athletes. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. And then so on day one, you've got three-on-three basketball and three-on-three wheelchair basketball, which is cool.
8:54Mike Minogue:Artistic gymnastics. There's three-on-three basketball in there. Bullshit. Yeah. What even is that? It's half-court. It's three on three, but it's literally exactly what I'm saying. So it's sort of half. Half basketball. Half-assed. Nice. Boxing. Yeah, get them. I love a bit of doosh, doosh, doosh. They're not wearing those headgear, are they? I don't know. Okay. I'd say they will be, to be honest. Powerlifting. Have they still got that thing in there where you have to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar? and then the winner, the one that's closest, gets a gold medal and gets to keep all the jelly beans in the jar.
9:38Mike Minogue:Not that I'm aware of. You've got powerlifting. But you've got three-on-three basketball. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, that's an actual sport that you can train for. Swimming. Obviously, all the disciplines.
9:49Keyzie:With the powerlifting, are they doing at the same time the strongman bell? The strongman bell? You know, where they hit the... Oh, yeah. They hit the thing down the bottom with a hammer. And it goes up and hits the bell.
10:01Mike Minogue:You're thinking of an arcade.
10:03Keyzie:Oh, no, it was in the – Was it? Yeah, yeah, it's been there. Oh, okay. You have to wear the unitard like Pugs wears.
10:11Mike Minogue:Not in this one. I don't think it's in this one. You've got netball. You've got – there's so many different things. That's what's great about – The one that was really good about Edinburgh, which is where it was – is that where it was last time? No, Birmingham. Birmingham, thank you. is that one where they drive. It's a driving one. And they're driving on the motorway and they have to change lanes without running over the cat's eyes.
10:32Keyzie:Oh, yes. That's exciting. Yeah, that's, wow. Yeah. Totally, man, totally. What was that one called? Who got the gold for that? Oh, it might have been Radisic. What's his name there? Paul Radisic. Paul Radisic. Yeah, yeah.
10:46Mike Minogue:What, the supercars driver? Another gold for New Zealand. The Australian. Did I say weightlifting? Yes. Okay. You've got athletics, obviously, so all the exciting stuff that you usually see at the Olympics as well, your track and field. Wheelbarrow race? I'm not sure. It just says athletics here. It might come under that umbrella.
11:07Keyzie:I think that comes after the sack race, Moggy. Yeah.
11:10Mike Minogue:What's a sack race?
11:11Keyzie:Well, two people from each country get in a sack and have to hop to the finish line there. It's good stuff.
11:17Mike Minogue:What's the distance?
11:18Keyzie:I think about a kilometre.
11:25Mike Minogue:In a sack. Yes. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
11:38Mike Minogue:It's Beer and Pie July on Radio Hauraki. Swing it!
11:43Keyzie:I was very excited to learn, actually, fellas, that we've got some new pies in today. So I'll be firing one of those in the air fire very shortly.
11:52Mike Minogue:What's your strategy with the air fryer? What do you do?
11:55Keyzie:Well, it's really interesting, actually, because for some reason people are putting them in there for 18 minutes, which seems massively excessive to me. So I'm going to go five minutes in the air fryer, sweet as.
12:06Mike Minogue:So you don't think that the people that sit in the office that always eat pies daily in July know how to cook it properly? No. Okay. Okay, can you go do that now? Five minutes and you have to eat the whole thing? Yeah, totally. I actually remember the pants man, Joe Harrison, who used to work here. He had the method for preparing in the air fryer, and it was always spot on. But I do remember it being between like 13 and 15 minutes or something. It was a long time. That was from Frozen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I usually do about 10 in the air fryer and then nuke it for a minute. In that order.
12:42Keyzie:God, you guys.
12:43Mike Minogue:Dealers' choice, Mogi. This is just madness. Really?
12:46Keyzie:Hey, but anyway, we've got$250 cash to give away, don't we, fellas?
12:50Mike Minogue:That's thanks to Dad's Pies, who proudly bake award-winning pies for Pie Loving New Zealanders. They're super proud about it. Oh, they are.
12:56Keyzie:And why wouldn't you be? Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Cam, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, very good, guys. Very good. Good on you, mate. How's beautiful Gizzy today? It's mint today. It was a chilly start, but it's been a beautiful day. Yeah, good on you. And tell me, Cam, what are you doing, Gizzy? I'm a chippy
13:17Mike Minogue:Backbone Of course you are
13:18Keyzie:And as a chippy Cam It's smoko time What pie are you running with? If I'm really hungry I'll go for a potato top pie But I've been doing a bit of pepper steak and cheese Good on you mate The potato top pie That's my choice as well Absolutely love it Yeah Wow That's just me I went to a cafe yesterday Moge You know the day before that dude mentioned a steak and onion pie. Well, I haven't seen one of those. Cafe yesterday, steak and bloody onion. Did you get a linear? No. It's a hell of a yarn. It's a hell of a yarn.
13:53Mike Minogue:Thank you. Cam, man, would you like$250 cash? Oh, Cam.
13:58Keyzie:I'd love$250 cash.
13:59Mike Minogue:Thanks, Peggy. All right, mate. Well, it's all yours, brother. Awesome. Thank you, guys. I'm having a day.
14:04Keyzie:No worries, mate. You have a great day down in Gisby. I've always loved Gisby, incidentally. It's a beautiful, heaps of beautiful beaches. Really lovely sort of township. I just don't know what I'd do there, fellas. I was talking about this the other day when I was watching Bryn and Coos Singles Club. Yes. And they spent some time over in Gizzi, and I was thinking, I'd never get over there. Just never, ever get over there. So they're going to make an effort this summer to get over to Gizzi. I tell you, it's a little bit out of the way. It is a bit out of the way. I'll give you that. It's beautiful.
14:34Keyzie:Beautiful. When was the last time you were there? Probably five years ago. Really? Five? Yes. I've never known you'd go to Gizzi. I've never known you to go to Gisbert. My wife's family lives there. Yeah, but that's why you said you didn't want to go. Well, that's generally why I don't go, but every now and then you have to make the effort. You do.
14:54Mike Minogue:Good stuff, fellas. Yeah, good stuff. Hey, also just a quick reminder that there is a serious amount of pride baked into every dad's pie. Just a little reminder there. Just keep that in your...
15:08Keyzie:I'm going to go and put a pie in now, and I'm going to do it for five minutes.
15:11Mike Minogue:And you have to eat the whole thing. Bloody oath I will. It's Nirvana. Tune, turn it up. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
15:19Keyzie:Kings of Leon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 4.51. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
15:35Yeah. That's right. Hey fellas, I've started watching the series Friday Night Lights.
15:43Mike Minogue:Ah, it's a classic. It is a classic. I've already watched it. You still watch it? I think we would watch it. Everybody was watching it when we were working on Avatar down in Wellington in 2008. To give you a rundown of what it is, it is about a small town high school football team in Texas. and all of the drums that go on, the entire town, their entire lives revolves around the success or failure of that football team. Yes. Insert hot dudes playing footy there, Keezy. Hot ladies. Yeah. It's an absolute melting pot of sexual tension. Great, great show. My wife's never seen it, so I chucked it on and I'm absolutely loving it.
16:28It's fairly soap opera-y, but it's very well written, great acting, So I give it four and a half buzies out of a possible five. It's on neon, I believe, and there's about five seasons of it, so I'm loving it.
16:40Keyzie:It's a great series. I really enjoyed it. Have you seen it? Yeah, yeah. I love Friday Night Lights with Kyle Chandler, is it? Kyle Chandler. Who I'm a big fan of. He's a magnificent actor, and his wife there, Connie Britton, I think her name is, also awesome, and then some really hot dudes in it. Taylor Kitsch being my favourite. Tim Reagans. Oh, and of course, a very young... What's his name? Jesse Plemons. Jesse Plemons, yeah. And also a very young fellow that played Creed and just won the Academy Award, Michael Jordan. B. Jordan, thank you very much. Good stuff, mate. Great cast. Yeah, I really enjoyed it, and it's sexy.
17:19Keyzie:It's sexy, Kesey. I watched a movie this afternoon, actually, fellas, on Samsung TV, The Giver. Busy day, then? It was a busy morning, but not an afternoon. Jonas, a young boy who lives in the new world has high hopes for the future.
17:35Mike Minogue:He lives in a new world?
17:36Keyzie:Yeah, it's a very sci-fi kind of drama. What part of it? Like in the deli? No, but wait. After he becomes the keeper of memories for his community, which is a really big accolade for this particular community, he makes a surprising decision that is fraught with obstacles. And the previous... Spelling aisle six. The previous Keeper of Memories is sort of walking him through it, but he's a bit of a rogue, played by Jeff Bridges, who is another actor that I very much enjoy. It's quite a visually stunning, interesting sci-fi kind of vibe to it. It hasn't got great ratings on IMDb, 6.4 out of 10. Well, I'm not surprised.
18:23Keyzie:It's about a guy in a supermarket. 34 % are Rotten Tomatoes. The only rating that matters around here is Buzzies. Yeah, and I give it a solid 2.9 Buzzies. Don't recommend it.
18:35Mike Minogue:Three is a recommendation.
18:36Keyzie:Yeah.
18:37Mike Minogue:Yeah. Fellas, I've been watching Black Books, the UK sitcom with Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran, who is famously our worst ever interview. What's that on? That is on Watch Prime. Oh, yeah. And it's like the first season's great. Second season is Dylan Moran on his own. Yeah. Writing it. And then the third season, he's brought in two other writers. And the third season is probably the best. Just literally an episode where Bill Bailey and the main character, Bernard Black, they decide they're going to write a kid's book because it's really easy to write a kid's book. And then they get really drunk and then they can't come up with an idea.
19:11Mike Minogue:And then they come up with this great idea of an elephant who lost his balloon. And then they get so drunk that they're worried that they're going to be so famous and successful that they decide they have to burn the book because they can't handle that. And it's just this whole, it's just stupid. Yes. Very, very, very, very entertaining classic UK sitcom.
19:27Keyzie:Yeah, Dylan Moran, he's a very, very funny man and a terrible interview.
19:32Mike Minogue:Oh, 100%, yeah. And he's brilliant in that show. So I was gutted when we interviewed him. I was like, oh, man.
19:37Keyzie:Yeah. How many boozies?
19:39Mike Minogue:I give Black Books 4.1 boozies. It's just easy watching classic UK comedy.
19:45Keyzie:Yeah, great stuff. Hey, bit of pigeon chat after five o 'clock.
19:49Mike Minogue:Man, I'm fizzed up. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
19:59Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your Thursday tickety-boo. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by Reburger. Reburger.
20:08Mike Minogue:Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Ah, that's really quite yummy.
20:14Keyzie:Yeah, great stuff. Incidentally, how was it last night, Keezy? You had a bachelor night. You have some Re-Big gear? Sure did, mate. Yeah, it was good stuff, wasn't it? Did you get some fries with it?
20:24Mike Minogue:Well, yeah, I got fries with it. Coke Zero, burger, fries. That's my combo. Is that egg for you or are you doing a hoity J at the moment? No, no, 100%. That's what I had. Oh, well done. And you're not going to believe this too because I do also like the Regent Red, which is the one he always says when he's lying. It's the only one he can remember. Yeah, I know. But it is my favourite burger.
20:42Keyzie:So good, man. I can totally understand why you do that.
20:45Mike Minogue:But get this. I told the story to my wife and she told me it was boring. Oh, yeah. I ordered it for 7.30pm, right? After the show tomorrow. Yesterday, sorry. What? Left here, stopped, got milk, got wine, got to Reburger. 7.31. Was ready. Took that home. I was eating by 7.40. Tucking in there. That's not boring, bro. That's out of the game. Thank you. That is, how many wines did you have? One glass of red wine. It was a cab sav. What'd you do with the rest of the bottle? Sitting at home. I have another glass tonight. I'm like, well, I didn't cane the whole thing and have a pack of darts. I'm sorry.
21:22Thank you.
21:25Mike Minogue:Hey, fellas, speaking of exciting stuff, Pigeon Chat up next. I've got an exciting update. This is huge. Of course, if you don't know, the Big Show has purchased a racing pigeon. No. What? No. What? Yeah, you've bought one. Well, no, we're all going force on it, aren't we? Here's Stone Temple Pilots. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki
21:50Keyzie:Yes indeed, Muse there on the Hauraki Big Show This Thursday evening, the time is 12 minutes past 5 o 'clock
21:57Mike Minogue:The fellas, the Big Show have gone four ways on a racing pigeon $400 it costs,$100 each fellas I'll send you my bank account details, we'll get that going Because I've paid the money And this pigeon will be racing down south there It is based in Wamaru and we've got Pigeon Tim who's running the whole thing. We bought Pigeon 109, which is the 109th pigeon out of, was it 115? Yes. Pigeons. You bought, I just want to really stress this.
22:25Keyzie:Yeah, just want to correct you there, Kesey. There's a lot of we and us and Big Show going on over here. So just for clarity's sake, you bought a bird. Pigeon 109.
22:46Mike Minogue:Fellas, bloody exciting development. Pigeon Tim down there in Timaru, who's been organizing this whole thing for us. I messaged him today and I said, Pigeon Tim, can I get a photo of the pigeon, please? The racing pigeon. Because you guys have been going, what's the difference between a racing pigeon and a regular pigeon that's just outside right now crapping on the bloody pavement out there?
23:06Keyzie:Yeah.
23:06Mike Minogue:And he sent me a photo, and I think if you've got your phones, I'm going to send it to the group right now. prepare to be blown away Pugs I'll get you to put this on the big show Instagram mate feast your eyes feast your eyes on pigeon 109 the racing pigeon I mean it's a pigeon isn't it definitely a pigeon yeah
23:29Keyzie:I mean I see about 500 of those down on the square every day don't be fooled mate
23:39Mike Minogue:to the untrained honker, that might look exactly like every other pigeon I've ever seen.
23:45Keyzie:Does it have excrement on its head? I've not. What? Does it? It's just, yeah, it looks like by its eye there it's got a bit of pigeon crap all over it. It looks like it's defecated on itself.
23:57Mike Minogue:Well, no, I don't think. It's just the colouring. Can I say it doesn't look like it's all there? You can. You can say that. I'm concerned about this. Well, not, you know, I'm concerned for you, Keezy, because your pigeon looks like it's going to fly around in circles.
24:12Keyzie:Can I also note too, it seems to have isolated itself. It'd be in the corner of the shed there. All the other pigeons are yakking away and Pigeon 109's just...
24:24Mike Minogue:Well, he's got his mind on the big race coming up.
24:26Keyzie:No, I just don't think it has a mind at all. It just looks like a bit of a deer brain. The other problem that I've got, Keezy, and you'll be able to see this if you go on the Instagram, is I'm concerned that you've been done. You've been had. What do you mean? And this is why I don't want to come in on this because that bird has quite clearly got a tag around its leg that's got a 7 on it. Now, if this is bird 109 of a possible 115, can you tell me why it's got a 7 on its leg? I get the feeling that somebody has just taken this off a website somewhere and they're feeding it to old Keezy just like they're feeding them a line of bullshit.
25:05This has cost you$400, Keezy. You bought a picture.
25:08Mike Minogue:Well, no, no, no, Mogi. That's a really good point.
25:09Keyzie:I mean, that's the sort of thing I'd do, Keezy. You know what I mean? Be sucking into buying a pigeon.
25:14Mike Minogue:Well, you have been. We're in full ways on it.
25:17Keyzie:And Mogi's right. On further investigation, if you, you know, expand the photo out there, there is a seven on its tag.
25:24Mike Minogue:But hang on. So there are 115 pigeons, right, in this particular race that's coming up. Yeah. Okay. That number of that pigeon, it could be one of 1 ,000 down at the old bird club. You're talking like you're an expert, Keezy. No, I'm just trying to dig myself out of this just in case it is true. I mean, we can call Pigeon Tim at some stage and just confirm. Oh, look, if you are being ripped off, more the better. You know, that works for me even better. Okay, so you're in? If there is no pigeon race and you've been ripped off for$400, that's good stuff. I mean, come on, man. I'm not going to get swindled into some pigeon-buying scam.
25:59Mike Minogue:I mean, this is legit. We chatted to Pigeon Tim earlier in the week. He sent me a photo of a pigeon. and just because it has a 7 on its leg and we've got Pigeon 109 I mean actually I'm just looking at the text he said as well and this is not a lie it says Bird 103
26:17so see the Bird 103 he's forgotten the lie he's told you that's the problem that old Pigeon Tim's in Bird 103
26:25Mike Minogue:and then I've just gone oh I assume he's mixed it up and then I've got a beautiful specimen and he's said absolutely top bloodlines to boot Yeah, so he is lying through his teeth. You look at that pigeon, there's nobody in the world that thinks that is a top bloodline. No, and has it got wonky wings? No, it doesn't have wonky wings. They are not on the piss. But look, fellas, things are heating up when it comes to the pigeon. Pugs has chucked it up on the big show's Instagram there. He's going to pin that post. We're going to get people to comment what we should name it. Okay, that is going to be the be-all and end-all when it comes to the names.
27:00Mike Minogue:and at the end of the week, which is tomorrow, we will have a name sorted. Whoever's named that, whoever named it, $50 worth of Reburger.
27:08Keyzie:Whoa, good stuff, mate.
27:09Mike Minogue:So head to the Hauraki Big Show's Instagram there, name the damn pigeon, and you could win some delicious Reburger. Smashing pumpkins? Yes. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
27:24Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Grinspoon there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. the time, it's 5.26. And we had a fascinating chat yesterday, Mogey, while you were away, about fitness. Oh, yes. Because I was trying to cancel my gym subscription from when I lived out west for the third time, I might add. And the guy that I was talking to was a big fan of the big show. Right. And he said, incidentally, who would you say would be the fittest in the big show?
27:52Mike Minogue:Yeah. And that led to this discussion.
27:55Keyzie:Now, I know you go to the gym, Pugs-san. Thank you. As does Mogey. And so you'd think, oh, well, they'd be fitter than Horty J, but they're gym fit. You know what I mean? In inverted commas, gym fit. They're pretty boys in terms of the fitness world.
28:09Mike Minogue:Can I just say, Jase, there's a really easy way to figure this out. Someone has to run 10Ks from the show. Who's it going to be? Well, it won't be you because you'll pull a hammy. No, no, no, listen, Jase, if one of us has to run 10 kilometres, jog 10 kilometres, go for a run, are you the one to do it? Well, this is a question I'm asking. No, I'm asking you right now. are you seriously the one to run 10 kilometres? I think so, given my overall...
28:32Keyzie:Really? What?
28:34Mike Minogue:So that's the discussion we were having.
28:36Keyzie:And I was chatting to Moggy just in the office before we started the show, and he said he listened to that chat, and he said, actually, the weird thing is, Hoardy J, I'd agree with that. I don't know who you were talking to. You're talking to the fridge again. What was interesting, I did actually listen to that chat yesterday, and what I did find interesting, Jase, was that you were positioning yourself as being the fittest person in the big show team, and that conversation came out of you talking to a guy at the gym while you were trying to get out of your gym membership for the fourth time in a year.
29:09You haven't been in over a year. Look, it is an interesting one, but the question becomes, of course, how do you measure fitness? And there's so many different ways. You can be gym fit, which is completely different to being run fit, running fit, and also, again, swimming fit is completely different again. So I think it depends how you measure it. And there would have to be a series of tests. Now, if we're just chatting idly, I had a phrase pop into my mind from the podcast that we did earlier, and I'm glad it didn't come out of my mouth just now. Oh, it's a shame. But I think obviously the fittest amongst us all at the moment would be Pugson.
29:47Yes, it's right. Because he's been going to the gym relentlessly. He has been working on it. So his strength is really good. He's benching over 100 kilos at the moment. He's running over 5Ks, 6.2Ks I think he's up to at the moment. He's aiming for 8Ks by the end of the year. Which is great. I couldn't tell you what I could run, but it would be about 400 metres probably, something like that. I haven't been going to the gym this year either. Yeah. Having said that, I'd definitely be the second fittest. Coming in third, and Jase, I know that you walk a lot, mate. Yeah, mate.
30:19Keyzie:18 ,000 steps yesterday, which is the equivalent of 16 kilometres. It's interesting because yesterday on the show you said it was 16 ,000 steps. I can show you the imperative, what is it called, empirical proof. Over the day, of course. But wandering around with your hands behind your back, just checking out the view and, you know, with your skull candies on, listening to some tunes. I'm not sure if it's hardcore exercise.
30:46Mike Minogue:You don't have a very girthy gait either, as we touched on yesterday. That said, you're definitely fitter than Keezy. So I'd put you in at third and then Keezy coming up in the rear there. Hang on, hang on. Because Keezy doesn't do any kind of exercise whatsoever. What are you talking about? Yes, I do. He goes for a stroll once on a Sunday. He's given up the gym, given up running, does nothing else except for eat hot pots, dumplings. Dumplings. Yes.
31:09Keyzie:Well, here's the funny thing in there. And, you know, because Keezy and I used to walk to the car park every day. you know, when I used to live out west. And I was forever having to wait for him, you know what I mean? Because he'd just fall behind and I was like.
31:23Mike Minogue:It's like 200 metres. Come on, Keezy. You are so bullshit. Come on, man. Okay, look, Chase, I will give you. Okay, so what I think, just further to what you were saying, is there are different types of fitness and different things that we would be good at. For example, I think I would be top two in terms of aerobic fitness. Right. If we had to go for a 5K run, Pugs, I think you would be the best. I think I would be second. Right. Mogi, I think you and Pugs would be the top two in terms of strength. Yeah. You know what I mean? Jase, I think you'd be the best one when it comes to fitness. D in your mouth.
32:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
32:06Keyzie:Metallica there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. The time is exactly 20 minutes to six. Fellas, we've had a text come through here that says, just tuned in, heard Mogey, I think he needs another day or two off. I think you sound fine. Sound better. Oh, you're giving me sound better than you did yesterday. Yesterday I managed to get into the doctors on the same day that I called. It's the same day, David!
32:32Mike Minogue:That's from an ad, eh? It's referenced from an ad, yeah, a drink driving ad. 20 years ago. Bloody good, bloody good ad. And so I was pretty stoked to get in there. They gave me once again antibiotics because I always get this exact same thing. But while it's made me feel better, I have noticed that there are a few side effects. And I don't think people really consider the side effects. They're always about wanting to solve the issue that they've got that made them sick enough to go to the doctor in the first place. That's right. But nobody ever looks at the label and goes, oh, I don't know how I feel about these side effects.
33:03I don't know how I feel, for example, about this side effect here. This is one of them. Diarrhea. and I think to myself, well, if I can clear up my sinuses, feel better in that way and have diarrhoea, would I be happy with that? And the answer is yes. So I'm happy with diarrhoea.
33:22Mike Minogue:But it's only a chance, right? It's a possible side effect. Well, it says here, common. If anyone's going to get diarrhoea, it's mogy. Yeah, I pride myself on my diarrhoea. Yeah, you're the man at it. Nausea or vomiting, I haven't had that yet, But I'd be happy with that as a side effect. Yeah. Skin rash. But there's some less common side effects here, Keezy, but you can still get them. Black hairy tongue. Straight up. Black hairy tongue. And it's got hairy in inverted commas, so I don't know what it means by hairy. Like it feels weird or something. Yeah, I don't know, but that says it's temporary and harmless.
34:00But I'd rather not have that if it's all the same. Yeah.
34:03Mike Minogue:So you'd have something black and hairy in your mouth. Ugh.
34:08Keyzie:I see here because you were talking about, you were telling me what drug it was, hair loss. Hair loss, yeah, absolutely. But you've got a hair hat anyway. I've got a wig, so that's fine. I'm all good with that. Homicidal tendencies. Oh, yeah.
34:24Mike Minogue:What do you mean, oh, yeah, that's like really. That's standee for your antibiotics. So you take basic antibiotics. And you're just like. Yeah, you end up in a rage and you want to, yeah. Yeah, but it's getting angrier than there's homicidal. Homicidal tendencies. That's full on. Yeah, absolutely. Are you sure you shouldn't be at home right now if you've got that? Don't tell me what to do. Don't you ever tell me what to do. Got that?
34:51Keyzie:Sorry, Mogey. Did you just...
34:54Mike Minogue:There was a noise there, wasn't there?
35:02Mike Minogue:Easy. What? I did not fart. That was Mogey. As food fighters. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
35:12Keyzie:Gene's Addiction there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. The time is nearly eight minutes to six o 'clock. And, Mogi, you were away sick yesterday, mate. And I've got to be honest with you, I'm glad you were. Because something happened yesterday that really upset me. In fact, and it's no exaggeration To say I was up at one o 'clock this morning Just pacing around the lounge going, wow Pretty upset, couldn't sleep My brain was whirring And we were having a little chat off air About going to see the movie The Odyssey Oh yes And the idea Together? Yeah, together All the big show fellas, etc, etc And we were like, oh, but I think Moggy wants to see it with his wife and we're like, but we can work all that out.
36:01Keyzie:Yeah, sure. And so Kesey was like, oh, well, Tuesday it's at 8, it's all booked out. Wednesday it's booked out. Thursday it's booked out. And I said to him, and I quote, well, why don't we go and watch it in the weekend on a Saturday or a Sunday? And he said to me, I'm not wasting my weekend with you. Yeah. And I went, sorry?
36:22Mike Minogue:I don't remember saying that at all.
36:24Keyzie:And he said, and then he said, because I thought I'd miss it. What did I say next? I thought he'd misheard. And then he said, and I quote, nah, nah, mate, you're a weekday mate. Are you? And I went, what do you mean by that? And he said, well, I'll hang out with you on weekdays, but I'm not wasting my weekend going with you guys to a movie. And it was like, wow. Because I've always assumed, we're all good mates, you know what I mean? I'm quite happy to hang out with Mogi on a Saturday or a Sunday. I don't differentiate the days. and so to find out that I'm a weekday mate and that Keezy doesn't want to waste his weekend on me over the weekend, it's like, it hurt, man.
37:06I'll be honest with you. It really hurt my feelings. Yeah, but as I say, Chase, the truth hurts and I'm with Keezy on this 100%. If I could avoid you guys Monday to Friday as well, I'd chuck that in there too.
37:16Mike Minogue:See, Moggy, this is a bit awkward now because I don't remember saying that at all. No, you were pretty steamed. So I was steamed yesterday as well, was I? What I said was - This is getting worse and worse. Because we want to see The Odyssey, right? But we want to see it IMAX, which is the really, really big theatre that I think it's only on Queen Street. I think you're right. And it's booked out weeks in advance. And Jay suggested we go and see The Odyssey right in the middle of a Saturday or a Sunday at lunchtime. And I could not think of anything worse than watching a three-hour movie in the middle of a day while the sun's shining out.
37:50Mike Minogue:Three and a half. You know, that's a nighttime thing for me. You go out for dinner, you go to The Odyssey. Yeah, sure. Sounds great. I don't remember saying I don't want to hang out with you at the weekend, Jase. And if I did say that, I didn't mean it. Me neither. No, me neither. But that's interesting that you say that, Keezer. So you'd rather go out for dinner and then go to a movie for three and a half hours that finishes, what, around midnight? Count me out.
38:16Keyzie:It's so funny you say that because I said there's no way Mogi's going to do that. No, for me the dream is, I'll be aiming for it, and I'd love for you guys to come along, but my wife hates you. Oh, yeah. That's the trouble. I did get that vibe. All of you, yeah. All pugs as well. But to go at 10 o 'clock in the morning along to midweek to go to an IMAX to see that, that's my dream. And the less people there, the better. But you guys, I'd love you guys to be there, obviously.
38:46Mike Minogue:Right. It's just my wife. I just don't recall your wife ever having, I can't imagine what we would have done. You know, like.
38:52Keyzie:Yeah, but you don't see the way she looks at you when you're getting into your dumplings.
38:56Mike Minogue:She's never watched me eat dumplings ever.
39:01Keyzie:Sorry, hang on. Yesterday I was drunk. Anyway, anyway. Now, listen. Let's water under the bridge, Kesey. Not from where I'm sitting. We'll find a weekday when the team can do it.
39:14Mike Minogue:Oh, so now we're just going for a weekday morning. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cool. All right, sweet as.
39:19Keyzie:Hey, now coming up after six o 'clock, by the way, Old Mogi's got a herb disaster on his hands. He certainly does.
39:28Mike Minogue:Plus, I found an interesting article, fellas, about ageing gracefully. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
39:41Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Thursday night is absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by Rebogu.
39:50Mike Minogue:Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries, and gourmet eats that will change the game. Scrumpediddly-umptious. Tried something a little bit new there, didn't you, with fries? Yeah. You thought to yourself, that doesn't sound anything like fries. I was like putting some mustard on it. Didn't work.
40:07Keyzie:Mogi, when you were on your deathbed yesterday, did your wife make you like a chicken broth or anything? What did we have yesterday? No, actually, I ended up being the one to make the dinner. It was a mushroom. Just one. A mushroom. I just made a mushroom, and everybody loved it. It was a mushroom pie. Mushroom, leek, and lentils. I swear to God, it was absolutely delicious. Because I haven't eaten any meat this week. I'm trying to stay away from meat, which is going good. It's going good. But it slowed up my bowel. I had a very heavy bowel a couple of days ago there, Keezy. I was up and down.
40:47You don't need to single me out. I was up and down there, brother.
40:50Keyzie:out of the old toilet there. Well, the old lentil will do that to you, though, to be fair. I don't know what it was, but it's probably a change of diet, but I'd like to give it a go for a week or two. I used to be a vegan, indeed a vegan, as you know, and I remember eating my meals and feeling very light. Yes. You know, you're good as gold, but I'm not like that anymore. I get tired after a meal. Yeah, can you do me a favour and just keep us up to date on your bowel movements? No, don't. Can you make us sting there, Pugs-Awn? Thanks, mate. That'd be good. Kesey, what are you eating tonight?
41:21Mike Minogue:We've got our last sort of food bag order. Oh, is it another one of those Mexican numbers? No, we've eaten all three of the Mexican meals, and now we've got one leftover meal because we accidentally ordered food bag. It showed up and we forgot to cancel the subscription. And this one is a low-carb chicken salad. Instead of rice, it's got grated cauliflower. And so I am not looking forward to it. Are you going to add? You must add a wrap or something to that to spice it up. I don't know. I probably will. Yeah, I'm going to. My wife has decided she's cancelling the food box, whatever one we're getting, and she's researched some recipes online and she's going to shop accordingly.
41:56Yeah, good.
41:57Keyzie:So stay tuned next week when that happens. Keezy, can I make a suggestion? Re your meal?
42:02Mike Minogue:Sure. Bin it. 100%, I would love to bin it and just get Re burger or something. Honestly. My wife's the same. We're not fizzed up. Got it. The chicken goes off today as well. So great.
42:13Keyzie:You see, that's too close to the bone for me.
42:16Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki Yeah man, absolutely Totes Anyone got an answer for that? Nah It's one of those questions What's on the news? With me, Keezy Do you mind, man? I was just saying it's one of those questions where there is no answer Oh, rhetorical Yeah, man So just what's in the news of me, Kesey? You came across an interesting article today, fellas. Doubt it. No, this is from the Sydney Morning Herald. No idea if that's a quality outlet. I've got no idea. No. But the article is six weird signs you're actually aging well. Ah. And I thought, hey, I might check this out.
43:01Mike Minogue:Obviously, Hoody J, you're almost 40. Mogi, you're almost 50. Question number one, you can put a sock on while standing up.
43:08Keyzie:Oh, yeah.
43:09Mike Minogue:Can you do that, Chase? because I asked you this yesterday and you said no, you can't.
43:12Keyzie:No, I can't. Right. I struggle to put pants on standing up.
43:16Mike Minogue:So do you lie back on the bed and do it?
43:17Keyzie:Because I've got really dodgy ankles, and so I go, oh, oh, especially when I'm stiff in the morning.
43:22Mike Minogue:Can you do that, Moggy?
43:23Keyzie:Yes. Can you really? Yes. Put my sock on standing up. Yep. We should do this. We should video this. This is great stuff.
43:32Mike Minogue:100%. It gets better too. You can hold a deep, flat-footed squat.
43:38Keyzie:Yes. Yes. Yes. I've got flat feet naturally. Same here. Do you? I do too. I can't go in the army. No, neither could I, Moggy. Which is devastating. I had to lie about it in order to get into the army. Same. Were you in the army? And I was only 14.
43:55Mike Minogue:You can get up off the floor without using your hands. Do you want to try this right now, Jase? While I film it.
44:02Keyzie:What am I doing? Am I lying on the floor?
44:04Mike Minogue:So you sit down on the floor. Pugs will film it right now. You sit down on the floor. And try and get up without using your hands, all right? Okay. Here he goes. Here he goes. He's sitting down. All right. Three, two, one, go.
44:21I can't.
44:22Keyzie:Have another go. How do you not use your hands in that chair? Go on.
44:26Mike Minogue:No hands. No hands. You got this, Jase. Here he goes. No hands. Almost. Damn it. All right. So, Horty J failed. Moggy's giving it a crack. Straight up. Yeah, you're giving yourself an advantage the way you've gone down on the ground though. Chris? Straight up. Okay, do you want me to have a go? Sorry, sorry. Mogi's doing it again. Yeah, that's better. Okay, straight up. I like the twist too. All right, I'm going to try. Here we go. Here we go. This is quality radio, I tell you what. Oh, yeah. Yeah, man. Okay. You were like a horse getting up.
44:59Keyzie:You know how a horse sort of folds its legs under.
45:02Mike Minogue:So I could do it. Mogi could do it. Hoity J. Very fun. If you want to see a video of that, check out the Hodaki Big Show Instagram. The next thing is you pass gas regularly
45:18Ask my wife
45:19Mike Minogue:Yes you do Mogey I'm constantly ripping Yeah same here I wouldn't say regularly Okay so you can't get up off the floor and you don't Jace is one of those guys where they just fall out and he doesn't even know what's happening
45:29Keyzie:Funnily enough Mogey that happened the other night on the couch I went and sat down on the couch and ripped one out Which was completely unintentional My wife was like what the hell was that? But other than that, I have a bit windy in the morning. Otherwise, no.
45:43Mike Minogue:Such a great story. You sweat early when you exercise. Well, I wouldn't know. I don't really sweat. That's not aging. That's generally a sign of fitness. So early on in your fitness journey, you won't sweat. But as you get better and more fit, you will sweat easier, in my experience.
45:59Keyzie:Oh, that makes sense, because I don't sweat at all.
46:01Mike Minogue:No. You have a firm grip. Yes. That's just you clenching your fist. You're not gripping anything.
46:08Keyzie:What am I supposed to grip? Keezy's got something for you to grip. I'm not gripping your finger, Keezy. Grip my finger, I promise. It's covered in filth. I won't rip us. Give it a grip, man. No, I'm not gripping your finger, Keezy.
46:19Mike Minogue:Come on. Okay, well. What else is there? That was it. Yeah, right. Interesting. Just grip my finger, go on. I failed most of those. Yeah, it's not good for you, man. For a 39-year-old, you're in shock and shock. Third eye blind? Yes. Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
46:40Keyzie:Pearl Jam there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday night. And boy, oh boy, do we have some exciting news for you, New Zealand?
46:51Mike Minogue:We certainly do, Jace. It's funny that Pearl Jam played because they've actually taken out the top spot before. We're talking The Goat. Yeah, man. It returns for 2026. The search for the greatest song of all time. It is a fantastic countdown we do here at Hauraki every single year, and it is a countdown for real music connoisseurs. Voting starts Monday, the most important part of the entire thing.
47:12Keyzie:Can I ask, where does the countdown start, Keezy? 500?
47:17Mike Minogue:1 ,000.
47:17Keyzie:Oh, 1 ,000, okay.
47:19Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. Has it always been 1 ,000? No, it was 500 to begin with, but last year it was 1 ,000. Okay, yeah. Holy hecka.
47:25Keyzie:And the beautiful thing about it too, fellas, is we get so much more variety in our music, don't we? because there's 1 ,000 tunes to get through.
47:32Mike Minogue:That's right. There's a great balance to be struck. Like maybe 1 ,500 is probably too much. 1 ,000, because that 900 to 1 ,000 mark, you hear songs that you haven't heard in ages but are still quite good. Yeah. Yes. Beyond that, they get a bit iffy. Oh, yeah. So that's my favourite part is that the first few days of the goat countdown where you're hearing the real random stuff you haven't heard in years. It's good, isn't it? Yeah, I'm looking forward to that. And, of course, we'll have to choose our goats as well. we get an opportunity to vote on the goat. It's an interesting one, isn't it? Because you call it the greatest of all time, and then every year you've got to say what your greatest of all time tunes are.
48:09But for me, my favourites do change every year. My goats do change all the time because then I'm like, oh, last year I loved that, but I've thrashed that now. Or I'm thrashing an album, so because of that album, that goes to the top of the list. But now I'm on to a new album, you see? So it's a constant, it's always evolving.
48:25Keyzie:I always get upset because generally, like last year, For example, my goat didn't even get in the top 5 ,000. What was that? You know what I mean? You guys wouldn't know about it, you know, because it's kind of a bit out there. Right. But I do love it. I do love the goat.
48:44Mike Minogue:I'm actually thinking this year, fellas, of running a campaign to get Inglebert into the goat. You know what I mean? Because if I say to the audience, like, hey, let's all vote for a particular Inglebert song, you know, and gets enough votes, it will have to be in the countdown. Well, this is the sort of thing that happens over in the UK, they do that, because it's a really big deal over there, which is the Christmas single, their Christmas number one. And so they had a huge campaign driven by backbones. It must have been 20 years on, 25 years on, after the release of Killing the Name Of. Oh, really?
49:16That went back to number one, and they performed it on the BBC, and the BBC said, look, you just can't do that, but at the end, will you do the FU? And of course, Roger Gets the Machine being Roger Gets the Machine.
49:27Keyzie:They did it. I watched a video yesterday, Killing in the Name Of, and it was on Jimmy Fallon. Oh, yes. And the band was playing that song with kids' instruments. Oh, yes, I've seen that. They came out a good 15 or so years ago. Yeah, very, very good, yeah. Bloody good. Yeah, that is good. Yeah, The Roots is the band. Yeah, The Roots is the band, but this is literally them sitting around a table and playing it. Is that right? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Playing with kids instruments.
49:58Mike Minogue:That's good stuff. A reminder, the voting for the GOAT starts Monday. On Monday, we'll tell you. You'll be texting GOAT to 3483. You'll be hit with a link. You sign up there. You chuck in your greatest songs of all time. And then a couple of weeks after that, we rip into one hell of a countdown. Sweet.
50:16Keyzie:Okay.
50:17Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
50:31Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big show done and dusted for your Thursday night. Make sure you tune in to tomorrow's show. I've got a feeling it's going to be an absolute doozy and, of course, the Friday throbber.
50:41Mike Minogue:And we settle on a name. We lock in a name for the racing pigeon.
50:45Keyzie:Yes, good stuff. Hey, now, in the podcast outro, when we started doing it today, I thought, okay, let's just chuck a disclaimer on it from the top because I had a feeling that Mogi was going full filth. But to his credit, he pulled it back.
51:02Mike Minogue:He pulled it right back. And instead it turned into a discussion about him giving up drinking again. Here's a wee clip. It comes out at 7.30 tonight. My phone flew out of my pocket. I had no idea. He picked it up and took it inside. Oh, that's nice, fella. I remember you. I remember you.
51:19Keyzie:Oh, good day, mate. How are you? How are you going?
51:23Mike Minogue:That was kinsing. It was wacky. It was good stuff.
51:27Keyzie:All right, Mogi. Well, get in your car, get straight home and into bed, please. Rest the voice up, mate. Yes. Should be brand new tomorrow. Got one more little pill to have tonight. Going to keep on watching my Friday Night Lights. Absolutely loving that at the moment. Very good. Yes, very, very good. I always get jealous of people watching a series that I know is awesome. Yes. You know, and it's like when old Pugson watched Bloodlines. I was like, oh, God, I love that show. Well, funnily enough, last night we were lying in bed watching it. My wife's never seen it before. I was telling my wife how we used to watch it back in the day.
51:58And that moment, a mate of mine from 20 years before rang my wife. She called up, was talking about something else. And I said, tell her what we're doing. She said, oh, we're watching Friday Night Lights. She said that she'd just finished re-watching it again and was just like, oh, my God, Tim Riggins. So exactly the same thing. A great show from back in the day that's held up over 20 years later. It's great. I tell you what, Keezy, your missus would love it
52:23Keyzie:She would actually, I think she would like it Keezy, you're home to a foul dinner
52:28Mike Minogue:We're not excited for it at all It's probably going to be shit, that's okay And then we're going to watch Outrageous Fortune Speaking of shows from 20 years ago Good stuff, mate, good stuff What about you, Jase?
52:39Keyzie:Home dinner, watch something on Samsung, probably The thing I do now, I'll be honest with you Because there's about 8 movie channels I just flick between the movie channels and get little moments of each movie. How good. That sounds shit. Or I just stay on the Korean movie channel because they make great movies. And good chicken. And good chicken. Hey, you take care out there. Go and check out the Instagram. Go and check out the podcast. Till tomorrow. See you later. Bye. Bye. Bye.
53:20Thank you.
