0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show.

0:12Keyzie:With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bass. It's great to have your company this glorious Thursday afternoon. It is the 20th of November 2025 and you my friends are always listening to The Big Show. Brought to you by Reburger. handcrafted burgers loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change the game yeah god damn it mogie what a stallion you are i mean i didn't think that white tea could get any tighter and i think it's still the same white tea that you always wear you've just buffed up even more i

0:47Jase:think it's all the chips i've been eating man oh right could be yeah i've been absolutely smashing them good to see you mad dog you sick son of a bee on this absolutely beautiful day here in Auckland, I hope it's nice right across the country. But if it's not, that's okay, because it's nice here, eh? Yeah, totally, man. That's all that really matters.

1:02Keyzie:You're looking very casual corporate-y today, Keezy. That is literally the complete opposite of how I look today. With your sort of striped shirt. Casual corporate. The only thing that sort of ruins it is, you know, the shorts. But very casual and classy. Thanks, man. It is summer. It's a beautiful day out there where we are. And I thought stuff, and I'm putting my Fiji shirt on. Nice. This is a shirt I haven't worn since we were in Fiji, fellas. Yeah. Feels good. Got my shorts on as well. I am fizzed for summer. Yeah, so am I, man. Jason, you've got a Reburger hat on. Yeah, I have. I saw them out there and went, I'm grabbing one of those bastards.

1:37Keyzie:How does it look, fellas? I can't tell at this stage. It looks crave-worthy. Yeah, totally. I tell you what, Mogi, tell the people what's coming up on the show, mate.

1:50Jase:What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogi? Absolute belter of a show today, fellas. Later on, we're going to have Dan from the Black Seeds, who is going to be giving us, allowing us, giving us the honour of having the world premiere of their new single. Also going to be a bit of flat chat, Jase. You and I have got a bit of flat chat going on. And old Keezy struggling with his missus, man. She's laughing at him. She's mocking him. Not again. It's not looking good, and we'll be getting into that next. Here's Weezer. Isn't it? The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

2:26Keyzie:The Cure there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Thursday afternoon. Now, I just want to let the audience know we're in a brand new studio, aren't we, fellas? Just to make the point. And I tell you what, I'm loving the set up here. I've got panoramic views of everything and it's great stuff. New technology, new screens. I feel like that kid that gets new stationary when school starts. You know what I'm saying, fellas? 100%. It's great stuff. You look like that kid that eats his eraser. I used to eat my, I used to chew on it, not necessarily eat it. Hey, fellas. It's been bugging me.

3:04Something's been bugging me, and it's my wife. Yeah. Well, not her. Obviously, I love her very dearly, but it's something she did to me yesterday. Yes. So she, and I've noticed this happens quite a lot, But she'll say, oh, could you do me a favour? Could you go into the cupboard? This is all on Messenger or texting. Can you go into the cupboard and grab the sash that's in there? Like a wedding sash thing that says bride-to-be because she had a work due on. I was like, cool. So I went and grabbed the sash. And then she goes, oh, was there a veil there with that as well? And I was like, oh, what does it look like?

3:39She's like, oh, just a white sort of sheer piece of fabric really. Hot. So my wife's wedding veil.

3:47Keyzie:Yeah. She was hot, actually. So I go up in the cupboard. I find what I think is the wedding veil. It is a white piece of fabric. I grab it. It was with the sash. I then send her a photo and go, hey, I've got the stuff. And then she replies going, ha, that's a sarong, you idiot. Yeah.

4:04Jase:Yeah. How the hell am I supposed to know? You know? Yeah, yeah. Do you know what I mean? Does this stuff happen to you guys? Was she wearing the veil on your wedding day? She was, yeah. Yeah. So she didn't have a sarong covering her head. Would that be right? No, not that I remember, because a sarong's like a little skirt thing, isn't it? It's difficult to see through a sarong if you wear it as a veil.

4:26Keyzie:Although they can be quite thin, the old sarong, because they're summer wear, aren't they? They're generally not transparent. Yeah, but not as a veil. You can see through them, Jase, but only if you're staring intently like you do. Did she wear the sash on your wedding day? Bride to be? Yeah. No, I feel like we're really straying off topic. No, I was just curious to know whether or not she wore a sash. Yes, she wore a bride-to-be sash whilst walking down the aisle. It was like five bucks.

4:52Jase:Okay. She thought it complimented it nicely. So what do you feel has happened there, Keezy? Well, I feel like she's asked me to do a job that she knows I'm going to stuff up. Because I don't know the difference between a veil and a, what is it? Sarong. Yeah. And then she's laughed at me, and I was just trying my best, you know? Yeah. Yeah, no, that's standard. Yeah, it is. You can expect that. Yeah, she'll chip away, chip away, chip away, and make you into the man that she wants you to be. Right, okay. She's found a piece of clay, Jason, if I could put it that way. Yes. It's not a bag piece of clay.

5:23Jase:It's a little bit goofy. It's a little bit out of shape. And she's just going to push it and press it and take pieces off and chuck them out, you know, the stuff that she doesn't like. And eventually she'll have something that's close to decent. Right, okay.

5:35Keyzie:Well, it's interesting. I guess that makes sense. And Mogi's making sense. You see, what you don't want, which is where I'm at in terms of my relationship with my marriage, where my wife was pressing me, as Mogie pointed out, a piece of clay, and she got halfway through moulding me and then couldn't be bothered. So now I'm just this munted bit of clay that sits on the couch in the corner and she's not interested in. Right, okay. So it's like I'm pitching a ball of clay with a vape shoved in it. Yeah, with like a vape and a sort of small arm and stuff. And then she was like, I can't be bothered with this anymore.

6:10Right, okay. So any advice or is this just standard? It's standard, man.

6:15Jase:You are in a traditional marriage. Congratulations, brother. Oh, wow, thank you. Yeah, it's really great. Oh, great, okay. Thanks, fellas. But now you can start being like a real man and tracking her with her phone, you know. I already do that. Oh, sweet. There you go. That's right.

6:29Keyzie:We're seeing right now, by the way. I'd like to know. She's at a beach. I'd like to give her a call. She's at a beach in Auckland. Oh, yeah. She's not wearing this a roll. Oh, yeah. Can you say Linkin Park, please, Jase? I probably could. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Kings of Leon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 22 minutes past four o 'clock. Fellas, I went to Metallica last night. How good. Wow.

7:03Jase:Oh, man. How good, eh, Mogey? It was unreal. Me and Odie J right up in the moshy there. Doosh, doosh, doosh. Did you get the moshy? Yeah, man. You must have had to queue up all day for that. Nah, not at all. You're just sort of muscling your way in there. Yeah, you're just barred shrookies. And they know who we are. They know who we are, so it was all good. An incredible concert, pyrotechnics, great tunes. The boys were really on fire. But what I noticed and what struck me was the amount of women, partners, I'm assuming, that were sitting on the shoulders of their significant other, their boyfriends generally, maybe husbands, Kesey, I don't know.

7:38Jase:And, you know, the woman just having the time of their lives. They're dancing up there, arms in the air. You know, they feel like queens. Yes, indeed. You know, they've been put up on the throne. They're special. And they're looking at the faces of the men and they're absolutely dying. Yeah. absolutely struggling to hold their partners up. And it looks like zero fun. And I've done it once before in my life. I've done it before, yeah. And sort of got, I was quite happy that it was a short song. Yes. And I was in fairly good shape and I was absolutely routed.

8:17Keyzie:I've done it a couple of times, but I remember one time she was facing the wrong way and it was like, how the hell? Because I didn't know which way the bloody...

8:31The bloody what? Which way the stage was. The stage was.

8:33Keyzie:I was disorientated. Yeah. Because I'm not, you know, the fittest. And I'm not a tall guy too, fellas. So I didn't know where I was. And she was facing that way and I was facing that way. God, I nearly suffocated to death. It was horrendous. You know, the sweat was pissing off me. What? Which concert was that? Dire Straits. Right. And, I mean, they were rocking. Oh, Mark. Knopfler. Yeah, he was really going for gold. Not that I could see. From what you could hear. Yeah. Far out. I couldn't even really hear because her thighs were on either. Yeah, it was muffled. You know what I mean? Yeah. Far out.

9:10And with that honker as well. Jeez, yeah. All right.

9:16The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

9:22Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the cranberries there on the radio. Hodaki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 4.33. I'm just getting used to where all the screens are in the new studio, fellas. It's very exciting. Jeez, I've got to be honest with you. I've had a bloody hell of a day. I did a bit of reno work, Moggy, so I'm a bit knackered. Is this reno chat? Yeah, I suppose it's reno chat. Renovation chat with Jason Mike.

9:48Jase:And Keezy. That's good from you. Yeah, that's one of your best things, Geezy. No, I didn't make that. You did a great job of that, man. Did I make that? Yeah, over the weekend. You did it one weekend, I remember. Yeah, yeah. It took you about 18 hours, you'll say.

9:59Keyzie:And me! Geezy. What did you red-o, Jase? It was one of those jobs, it's funny, I don't know if you guys are like this with your property there. Yeah. And there's always something, and it catches your eye every single day. And every single day you say to yourself, I've got to do something about that. Yeah. But you just don't for some reason. Yeah, you just don't. But then you do it and you're like, why did I do that? Why did it take me 28 years to get to the point to actually do the reno? What was the reno? And it's one of those things too because you think, oh, God, this is going to be full on but it needs to be better.

10:37Keyzie:Oh, I can't be arsed right now. Now, we've got this set up. As you're going down the path to my house, right, there's a couple of bins there. My garden bin and my recycling bin. Your council bins, yeah. Yeah, my council bins. And every single day I walk past those bastards and go, I should put them somewhere else. Yeah. Because, you know, they catch my eye. It bugs me. I sit out the front of my little deck there and I'm vaping away and I'm like, God, I've got to do something about those bloody bins. And today I went, you know, this is it. I'm done with this crap. Just get down, get dirty and get it done.

11:14Keyzie:Yeah. So I wheeled the little bastards around the back so you don't see them. That's good work for me, man. Thanks, man. Well done. And there's a lovely little bush there now, Mo. I just stare at the bush. There's no bins there anymore. It's extraordinary, the difference it's made in my hour.

11:27Jase:The transformation you can get with the right renovation.

11:30Keyzie:Exactly. So you moved your... Have you never moved them from there? No. Have you ever put them out? Oh, occasionally. That's usually what my wife does. Right. That's not really a renovation, moving your bins around the corner. What are you talking about, Keezy? They've been there for 28 years. Wait, what? It's a fixture. Totally, man. I had to wheel the bastards. I'm on a big property, man. It's a long way around the back of my house. How far? Oh, at least 50 metres. That's a big job, man. I was sweating. I was sweating like a bastard. I still don't really think that's a renovation, you know? What do you mean it's not a renovation?

12:04Keyzie:What are you talking about? Usually you're getting the tools out and you're adding value to your property, you know? I had a tool belt on, but that had nothing to do with the bins. What was in the tool belt? Just tools. What sort of stuff are we talking in there? What have you got? Screwy. Screwy? Yeah. Is that a screwdriver? Yes. Some secateurs. Nice, that's a good tool. Yes. What else have I got in there? Some clippers. What, like hair clippers? A planer. Like a power tool? A pencil. Oh, yeah, that's handy. You know, one of those fold-out rulers that you can get? Yeah, those are good. Yeah, that's good.

12:37Keyzie:And a couple of durries, which I don't smoke, obviously, but they're there from past sort of usage. Right, okay, because I thought we were chatting actual Reno chat because I fixed the fence at the back of my house. It had lost a few of the palings had fallen off.

12:51Jase:Yeah. Put them back on, fixed up the latch too, which had rusted off and broke. Yeah. Put that back on and then made it so it was all perfectly square again and then painted the entire fence twice. It's like minor maintenance. Yeah, yeah. So like... What? Pottering around.

13:06Keyzie:Yeah. What? Tutuing. No, it wasn't tutuing. That was renovate. I was renovate. Having a bit of a tutu, Kesey. You put the bins out. Yes. 28 years, man. They've been there, Keezy. Yeah, you're right. They were full as well. Full of garden scraps and empty bottles. Siggy butts. No siggy butts. That's in my little brassiere. I'll probably move that tomorrow. Here's She-Hop. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. June, fellas. Get it in here. June. Even Flo there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. this Thursday afternoon. But right now it's time for... What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.

13:57Keyzie:Yes.

14:00Jase:Yes. Hey, fellas, last night I watched a short film. Oh, same. Short film called Beautiful from 2001. This black comedy sees Kiwi blokes Barry, played by Tim Gordon And Kev, played by Hoity Jizzbot Set off into the summer for a day's fishing The men alone glories of God's own in a runabout are disrupted When they discover their attitudes towards domestic violence And sexuality are at odds Now my understanding is this one Best Short Film at the 2003 Film and Television Awards Yes I understand it actually beat out Two Cars One Night. Yeah. The Taika Waititi that went on to be nominated for an Academy Award.

14:50Jase:Yes. Yes. And so I watched it. Great film too. Can I say, beautifully shot. It is really nicely shot. Yes. It's got a great look. There's something about the film, isn't there? Adam Stevens was the director, so kudos must go to him. And written by yourself, Jase. And Johnny Brough. So we agreed on yesterday's show, last night, that we would all watch this and do a review. Yeah. 2000, it was shot, Jase, released in 2001. And the interesting thing is it was based off a scene from your Atrocities play that you and Johnny Brough wrote. Correct. Really? Yes. Adapted into a... Is that your proudest achievement?

15:28Keyzie:That film? Yeah. No. Would it be the big show? No. Yes, it was from a little segment we did on Atrocities, with Johnny and I, and Adam Stevens, his main claim to fame is he shoots commercials. Right. And beautifully shot commercials, I must say, all around the world. And he saw that and went, I want to make that into a little movie.

15:53Jase:Yeah, right. So I can imagine you guys on stage. It's really great because it's two mates, guys that have been mates forever. They're in a boat. They're in the middle of nowhere. It's like a trapped scenario. Yes. You can't escape from each other. And then slowly over the course, one fella sort of reveals to the other that he might have feelings or sort of want to physically contact him. Possibly sexually, Keezy, I'd say. Yeah. I think we've got a clip. We sure do, Mogey. Oh, God. You can f***ing take your f***ing Big Macs and your f***ing VDs and your f***ing bisexuality and you shove them up your f***ing...

16:28You probably already have anyway, your f***ing...

16:30Keyzie:Yeah, well, I f***ing can, mate, and who f***ing cares? I can take him home to the missus and f***ing too, mate. So f*** what? They might even get her to f*** me with them. In fact, I already f***ed her f*** again. How's she?

16:45Jase:So she's a real highbrow son of a bitch. Now let me say. Oh my God. Beautifully performed. You recognise both these guys. Sort of, you know, as you'd imagine, fishermen to be. Men of few words. Backbone, backbone. Hashtag backbone. Beautifully performed. A young Jason Hoyt. You must have been, God, you must have been 14 when that was shot. If it was 25 years ago. Yes. But beautifully performed. Tim Gordon's magnificent in it, and it sort of just reveals itself more and more. It's a four-and-a-half-star pussy for me. Oh, good on you, though. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just great writing. But, dude, isn't there something about a two-hander?

17:22Jase:Just two people with a bit of dialogue, and it was just great. God, it was great.

17:26Keyzie:Just behind the scenes on that, fellas, we shot that at Great Barrier Island, out in Great Barrier Island. Is that where it is? And when we were shooting it, you know, the director, Adam, was saying to us now, because we were right next to the mussel farm, and both Tim and I were very keen fishermen. And so Adam was like, don't actually fish, just concentrate on the thing. But Tim and I couldn't resist. So a lot of the scenes there that we were doing, we literally had a massive snapper on the end of our line, and we were trying to pretend like it wasn't happening because we couldn't help ourselves.

17:59Can I just say, and if anyone wants to watch this, just chuck in to Google beautiful short film NZ it's up on nzonscreen.com you can watch the whole thing there

18:07Jase:about 10 minutes long 10 minutes long yeah I really enjoyed it by the end of it I kind of wanted because it's so I didn't know what how his character was going to react to you and you're in such a confined space and at the start it shows how easy it is you might fall out of the boat and I was like oh my god what's going to happen here yeah but then at the end it's just yeah great ending as well great ending yeah and I don't think it's an honest ending either

18:29Keyzie:no I can't even remember the ending, to be honest. Really? I'm shocked there was that much swearing in it, but now that I think about it, yeah, that's right. I love the little post-credits Easter egg. Do you remember that? No. You don't remember that?

18:43Jase:No. It was like the biggest part of the whole thing. Oh, is that the sex scene? Yeah, yeah. Jase, full frontal nudity, butt and mushroom. It was amazing. Here's the cult. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

18:58Keyzie:The cult there on the Radio Hauraki Big show this Thursday afternoon. The time is five minutes to five o 'clock. Heaps coming up after five o 'clock, including Dan, fellas, from the Black Seeds, releasing a brand new spanking song for us. That's right. It's a spanker. Yeah, it is. And we've got the world premiere, fellas. Yes, we do. The world premiere. Plus it says here, flat chat.

19:21Jase:Yeah, man. Is that chat about flatting? Yeah.

19:23Keyzie:Well, something very exciting happened in my life, something I haven't done for a very, very, very, very long time. Oh, finally. Yeah. Congrats, man. Thanks, because it's been years. It has been years. It's a shocking dry spell. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

19:47Keyzie:I'm just going to be honest with you. I just had a little, I've been given a bottle of hot sauce and I had a little skull of it just before we went on air there and, oh, she's hot. Hey, but by the way, you're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reberg here. Serving good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway at Reburg Year today. Yum. I accidentally played that during the news. Oh, did you? Yeah, I'm so sorry.

20:09Jase:I hope it wasn't a shocking story.

20:11Keyzie:I've actually noticed this of late with you, Keezy. You've been a bit fidgety with your fingers. There's a lot of things just popping out of it. Out of the ether. What's going on, man? Are you G? Yeah, I'm all good, fellas. I don't know what you're talking about. Do you like Green Day?

20:40No. Just this one. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.

20:47Keyzie:Faith no more there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 11 minutes past 5 o 'clock. And, fellas, I did something today I haven't done in 28 years. Wow. I went and viewed a flat. Wow. So you were 11 the last time you did that. Yeah, man. Wow. Far out. It's extraordinary. My wife and I and my young daughter were actually looking to move, right? So our plan for all you real estate agents out there is to find somewhere in the CBD and just try a bit of apartment living for a while. Just not to buy, just to rent. So we're sort of looking at apartments in town and so forth.

21:31Keyzie:And today we had our first viewing and it was fascinating. I felt like a young man again. Right, so what are you looking for? Well, you know, like a two to three bedroom apartment, a bit of space, maybe a bit of balcony action.

21:46Jase:You're going for big views across the ocean and the sea. Preferably some views, Mogi.

21:49Keyzie:That would be nice. You know, if we could get a bit of water action in there, that'd be good as well.

21:54Jase:Yeah.

21:54Keyzie:And so we went to one today with our daughter and my wife, and it was one of those awkward scenarios, because I imagine it must happen all the time. As I say, I haven't done it for so long, I wouldn't know, where the people renting the place were still there. Yeah. Oh, right, okay, so the former tenants. Yeah, well, the current tenants. Soon-to-be former tenants. Soon-to-be, because it's nothing in a month that comes on sort of. Right. And it is kind of weird going into someone's house and just sort of wandering around, having a bit of a look around. Yeah, it is. Because you see their taste in art.

22:30You see how clean they are. Obviously, you don't look in any of the cupboards or anything, but you get to sort of see how this random family, you don't even know how they live.

22:39Keyzie:Yeah. Well, it was actually quite embarrassing because there was a painting on the wall, and my wife saw it and went, my God, look at that. and the woman that was living there was like, oh, yes, no, I did that. And she was like, oh, I'll go back. Wait, so they were home. It was very good. Yeah, this is what I mean. They were home. So it was actually quite awkward. So there was a dude in his room and a woman in her room. And so you're going through the rooms and, you know, checking out the rooms and stuff and going through the cupboards and the drawers, sort of getting a... Why are you going through the cupboards and the drawers?

23:09Keyzie:Well, just getting a feel for the place, Kesey. You need to be able to imagine your underpants being in the drawers. Exactly. So it doesn't come fully furnished? No. Oh. Oh. And, you know, then we went into the dude's room and he had some, jeez, some filth in a second drawer just between us. So no one else needs to know about that. But now this random dude. I mean, I haven't seen a porn mag in a long time and they look bloody tatty as. But this dude who's just, you know, like he's having everyone around for a flat inspection. He's put stuff in a secret drawer and now you're talking about it on the radio.

23:40Keyzie:Well, I mean, he wasn't doing that. The real estate agent was doing that. Yeah, it's a viewing, isn't it?

23:44Jase:Yeah, a viewing, exactly. The idea of actually renting the place. Now, are you going to rent it or no?

23:49Keyzie:Well, after having a look at it and stuff, you know, we're going through her jaws as well. I mean, we weren't discriminating. At one point I held up a pair of undies and I went, jeez, you'll be wanting to get rid of those sometime soon. The vibe, Mogi, no. Yeah. Why? Well, because... Because the apartment sounds great. Oh, the apartment was amazing. But, you know, the furnishings were terrible. But they don't come with the apartment? No. Oh, yeah, that makes sense. But I'm looking forward to, you know, going and checking out heaps more, mate.

24:23Jase:It's great stuff. Can I borrow that stick mag off you? Oh, yeah.

24:31Keyzie:Did you steal it? Oh, about four of them, actually. A couple of Mayfairs. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Pixies there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday. evening, 21 minutes past 5 o 'clock. I believe they're playing a gig on Sunday night in Auckland, Kesey. Certainly are, Jay. Sunday night and Monday night at the Auckland Town Hall. Then they're heading down to Wellington to the St James Theatre down there. Low availability to all of those shows.

24:59Jase:That would be a hell of a place to see them. I thought, I won't go to them. I saw them. But I saw them about 10 years ago and they had Kim Deal in it. So it was the original line-up. But it was at Spacarena. Oh, right. Okay. So that's a significantly less intimate sort of an environment in the Auckland Town Hall. Town Hall. rules, yeah. It's a beautiful spot. Yeah, get on that.

25:18Keyzie:Yeah, I will actually, I think. Oh, I'm going to a gig on Sunday anyway. By the way, if anyone's wondering why Jase sounds like he's about to throw up, it's because he's been drinking hot sauce.

25:26Jase:Yeah, he does. He's looking good, Jase. Can I say that, man? Thanks, fellas. Hey, I'm just on the back of you going to look at some flats with the idea of moving into them. We had our first flat inspection. Oh, wow. Now, I rent a property. Yes. Jase, nothing wrong with that. No. In this economy, I mean.

25:44Keyzie:You don't have to get all defensive about it.

25:46Jase:Jeez, I mean, you know, what am I meant to do?

25:47Keyzie:No, look, you get no judgment from me, Maggie.

25:50Jase:I've had a fun life, right? I haven't saved as well as I could have, right?

25:53Keyzie:Can you stop shaming him, Jase?

25:54Jase:It's all good, man. Anyway, so they come around, they do the old inspection there, and then you get an email outlining any issues that there may or may not be. That must be weird because my wife and I, we own a small property. Oh, do you? A small property in West Auckland. Moneybags, Kesey. Two-bedroom granny flat in West Auckland there. And the idea of having a flat inspection now, that feels really weird. Well, I can tell you as a 49-year-old man, it does feel a little bit weird having a grown-up come round and tell you you are or are not living appropriately. So we got the email back, and I just want to run through what they've pointed out.

26:34Jase:Okay. Okay, and you tell me if this is weird or not. The first thing that they pointed out was that there's too many pictures on the wall. and so holes in the wall, et cetera, et cetera and they just wanted to point out that we will be responsible for filling those holes when we leave eventually. But also like holes in the wall because you're putting pictures up. I know. You know, it's a family home. It's a little bit, but I get it, you know, it's annoying to have to fill in holes, I know. Those are the ones you hung, eh? Yeah, well, no, actually I got a man in. Oh, okay. Because I know what I'm like.

27:08Jase:Anyway, the next thing on the list was said that it looked like our toothbrushes needed replacing. Right. Well, no, not right. What the hell does it matter if your toothbrushes need replacing? Did they? I'm not going crazy, am I? No, that's bizarre. It's beside the point whether they do need replacing or not, Kees. The point is none of their business. No, but it's handy to know that. But that isn't a thing that should stop you from being allowed to flat there. That's ridiculous. I make that call. Yeah, because you're in charge of the toothbrushes. I'm in charge of the toothbrushes. It might have my wife is.

27:38Jase:Tell them to shove it. Well, this is the thing though. If they're saying that you're going against the terms and conditions of your lease, your tenancy, then you bugger out on your arse, Jason. Right, okay. The next thing they said was the sheets were a bit dirty. Sheets were a bit dirty. Sheets on your bed? On the bed. Did they pull back the covers and have a look? Well, yeah. That's weird. And now they're not wrong. Dirty how? Well, just covered in filth, you know, like chips, crumbs and crackers and peanuts. Oh, okay. I eat in bed and I use my chest as sort of like a napkin. Chocolate. So just food stuff.

28:13Jase:Just mainly food stuff and other things. But also that's not their business. Bodily fluids, et cetera, et cetera. Again, it's none of their business. Now, the last thing on the list, I thought this was particular. Already I thought this was weird. They said that the batteries in the vibrator were dead. Oh, what the hell, man?

28:31Keyzie:You run a battery-operated one. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Collective soul there on the Radio Hauraki big show this gorgeous Thursday afternoon. Special treat for the fellas, actually. We've got Dan from the Black Seeds in with us. What do you want, man? Jase? I mean, were you just walking past and you went, oh, there's the fellas. I was like, there's those mad bastards. Yeah, exactly. I saw you got some beer in here. I knew there was some beer in here. Yeah, we got beer. True story, actually. When Dan came in, old Pugson, as he does, he said to Dan, would you like a glass of water?

29:12Keyzie:And Dan went, you got any beers? Oh, yeah. Perfect. Yeah, man, we got beers. Go and fill your boots. How's life, man? What's going on? Oh, bloody good. Life is good. The Black Seeds have just recorded a new song, so we're excited about that. It's good to be creating. Looking forward to summer to be back on the road. Yeah, man. So, you know, and good to be here. I'm enjoying your guys' show. Oh, kill. Every arbo. Like I was just saying before, I supervise at a company, TRS, and listen in to the show. Really? Every arbo. Is it on the site, man? Is it on the site? Or is it in the office? No, just driving in the van.

29:50Yeah, yeah. Driving in the van. You know, you want to laugh. You tune in to you, buddies. Isn't that weird? Because I drive to work quite often. The Blackseeds are playing. No way. You know what I mean? So we've got this weird thing going on here, Dan.

30:01Keyzie:I was actually, funny enough, listening to you fellas today, just hooning around, doing stuff, listening to the old black seeds. So that's very exciting, man. A new single coming out. Yeah, a new single called Compassion.

30:14Jase:I don't like

30:15Keyzie:the sound of that. You don't like it.

30:17Jase:That sounds shocking. That's that P. C. rubbish, is it? Controversial. Compassion. You know, I just think, yeah, we're all divided at this time in life. It's a bloody crazy place. And I just wanted to write something that But, you know, I just said how I was feeling. Great. And, you know, I didn't want to get too preachy. Yeah, it's hard, though. And it's hard. It's hard not to. And I guess you go reggae, and then you go, it's probably going to sound a bit preachy if you're getting, you know, it's not a political song. It's more of a come-together song. Awareness. Yeah, yeah.

30:53Keyzie:Well, I think, as you say, Dan, in this day and age, we need it, man. We need it. I think so, yeah. Because it is a batshit crazy world that we're living. and people have lost their collective minds. Bloody hell, they have. But I'll tell you what, because are we debuting it next? We are debuting it shortly, Jase, 100%. Before we do, though, I just want to know, Dan, is this just a one-off thing or are you guys cooking some other stuff or are you not allowed to say? We have been cooking. Yeah? Yes, yeah, yeah, we have been cooking. We want to get an album out next year. We've been demoing a lot of tunes.

31:26So, yeah, we're excited, you know. And how hard is it nowadays with the Black Seeds? Because you guys have been around for a wee while now. Has everyone spread out? 27 years. 27. Are you guys spread out?

31:36Keyzie:Probably time to cool it, isn't it? To cool it down. Yeah, I mean. But is it hard? Are you guys across the country? How does it work? Yeah, yeah, we are. I'm up here in Auckland. We've got Palmy. We've got Christchurch. Right. Yeah, I mean, it costs a lot of money just to get us in the same room to rehearse. Yeah. It's a pain in the ass, to be honest. What are you doing in Wellington now? Nigel and Ryan actually Ryan Preble so Greg Preble yeah so yeah we get together but it is a bit of a feat to do that but when we come together you know it's like we never left you know we're really good mates and I think you play together for such a long time you have that synergy straight away so 27 years I mean this show has been going for about four and a half now we're falling apart at the seams well the trick is we've got to move

32:25Jase:to different parts of the country Keezy that's the key I agree. Where would you move?

32:31Keyzie:Where would I move? Jase, I know where you go.

32:34Jase:You go up to Russell.

32:35Keyzie:I go up to Russell, mate. There's a little radio studio there right on the wharf. Oh, lovely. Just looking out there. And I could put my rod out and do the show. Oh, hang on. It's got a glory holiday. It's got a bite. We've got a bite. I'll be back in a minute. But the thing Jase doesn't know is that the studio is not even plugged in. It's not plugged in, though. It doesn't matter. It's not broadcasting. I can still do a show just to myself. Well, I'll tell you what, you won't get on that amazing radio show you're describing, Jase, is to debut a brand-new Black Seeds song. For the first time ever, this is Compassion.

33:05Keyzie:World premiere. World premiere. We'll get a massive review afterwards. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Oh, how good. New one from the Black Seeds, Compassion. We've got Dan from the Black Seeds. How does it feel when you listen to your tune there, Dan? What's going through your head? It can go either way, eh? You create something and then you listen to it over and over and over and over again. Until you're sick of it. Until you're sick of it. But, I mean, this tune, I come back to it as a good gay, Jay, and I always enjoyed it. Yes. I always enjoyed it. We actually did a version of the track and then Lee Preble, another brother of Greg's.

33:46Has he got two brothers?

33:48Jase:Is that right? He's got three brothers. Three brothers. How do you not know this? We've been working on him for years. The guy does not talk.

33:53Keyzie:He does not. Prebs does not share a thing, Dan. So they're a very talented family, obviously. They're a very talented family.

34:01Jase:Prebs once came into the office, and after a couple of hours, he said, oh, I've got to go. Where are you going to hospital? Why? I got run over by a truck on the way in today. Ah, Mogi, it was a bus. Oh, bus, my apologies. Literally, that happened, and he just did not mention it. Got a bit of work done, righto, I'm off to the hospital. So that's Prebs. Yeah, that's the Prebles, pretty much. The interesting thing, sorry, John, I know you go. No, no, no. Okay, fine, I'll go.

34:23Keyzie:No, you go, Kesey. All right. Go. Have your own time, man. The interesting thing I've found when it comes to tunes like that, like that is the world premiere of Compassion by the Black Seeds. How long ago did you write that? That was probably demoed earlier this year, and then it came in bits, like I was saying before, to get us all together. It's like start of the year, who's free for a week or a weekend, and then it goes another five months. Who's free for this weekend? Is that hard? Yeah, it's bloody hard. Yeah, so you go home and you're trying to write, but it really works for me to add lib in the studio.

34:59Yeah, right. You know, that's where it comes out. I'm just writing, feeling what the guys are in the other studio.

35:05Jase:It's like any kind of collaborative art, right? It'd be the same with acting. You can't really do it until you get into the room together. Yeah, yeah, exactly. You know, you can do it on Zoom all you want, but it happens together. You couldn't do the show on your own. But the interesting thing is...

35:14Keyzie:Take any of the lovemaking, eh, Mogey? Oh, absolutely not. The interesting thing, though, is like our show, for example, it's the opposite. that like every single thing we talk about is meticulously prepped and scripted. Yeah. I can tell. And so like the idea of ad-libbing, that freaks me out. Does it, Keezy? Like the idea of me not knowing the 100 questions I've prepped to talk to Dan about, you know, that really freaks me out. Dan, you mentioned the fact that you're about to go on tour. I'm looking at this beautiful weather. Whereabouts are you over the summer? Well, we're everywhere. We're up north.

35:46Yes. Matakana. Oh, how good. It's beautiful up there. It's going to be great. It's close to home. Rhythm and Alps. Yes, beautiful. Yeah, it's going to be great. We've got to run a show supporting UB40, and that's going to be all over the country. Get to play at Homegrown again. Go to Hamilton.

36:08Jase:Is that where it is?

36:10Keyzie:Yeah. You could probably afford to give Hamilton a skip. Fianos, you with me? Fianos. I'm not anti-Hamilton, man. I love Hamilton. No, neither say. You love Hamilton? No, not really. Dan, I mean, as you say, 27 years, the Black Seeds, every summer you guys come out, perform a few shows and that. Are you still just as fizzed up to get out there and tour again? Yeah, totally. Really? Yeah, yeah, definitely. I mean, I love being in the studio, but going out and playing, I mean, that's your audience. I mean, they've come to see you. There's nothing quite like that. I mean, it never gets old. Yeah, right.

36:43It never gets old. I mean, and you're always as good as your last show, you know. I just like to give everything to it because, I mean, I cannot. You can't not. Yeah, and when I'm not doing that and I'm doing my day job. Which you love. Which I like. It becomes frustrating not creating and not performing. But you've got that amazing outlet, right? Which is, that's a godsend for someone with so much creativity to give. Yeah, yeah, definitely. I mean, yeah, sometimes it gets a bit stagnant because you're not with the guys and you're not creating. But when we're in the studio, it's like this is the time to give it and to put it in 100%.

37:26Get stuck in. Get stuck in.

37:28Keyzie:Dan, if people want to get hold of this single, how do they do it? Like think about a dear brain like me, right? And I'm going to myself, now where can I listen to that tune? Where do you listen to your music? Spotify. But then my daughters went, naughty. Naughty. Because I don't treat artists very well. And I went, oh, okay. Well, what am I supposed to go on? So where do your daughters listen to their music then? Well, that's what I've been saying to them. It's okay, not Spotify. Then where? And they're like, oh, I can't even remember. They're on Tidal. Tidal's another one. Tidal's good. I've had no idea.

38:00Bandcamp. Yeah, Bandcamp is good. I mean, I guess, you know, unfortunately, Spotify. But Tidal's a good, another good app. It's convenient, right? Yeah. YouTube. So you could go to all those different platforms. You could go to YouTube. We're going to have a lyric video coming out tomorrow with the song Compassion. So that'll be on YouTube. And, you know, unfortunately right now it is on all the streaming platforms. And then obviously when we have the album, then that'll be the hard copy. Yeah, man. On vinyl? We'd like to put it on vinyl. Bloody expensive. Oh, I have one, man. You want one? Yeah, put my note down, man.

38:39Jase:Great. I've writing that down now. We just made a vinyl.

38:42Keyzie:It sold out pretty quickly in about 12 hours. Yeah, that's the one, Dan. It's a podcast on a vinyl, Dan. Yeah, and it sold out in, I think, about seven hours or so. Not that that's important, but 8 ,000 copies of The Bastard. Hey, Dan. Good on you, mate. Congratulations on the new single. And maybe we'll have a little bit of a chitty chat before you head off. Yeah, that would be bloody good. Do you think you guys will want to come to a show? Probably not, to be honest. Probably not.

39:09Jase:Yeah, Jason doesn't like to leave the house.

39:11Keyzie:I don't like people.

39:12Jase:If you could go around and do a gig in Jase's lounge, that would be all right. You could live with that. Maybe we could arrange that. Would the other rest home folks be up for that? Oh, they'd love it, Keasy. Dan from the Black Seeds, thanks for coming in. Cheers, fellas. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

39:32Keyzie:Nirvana there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. Dan's a good bastard, isn't he, from the Black Seeds? He's all right. Well, I mean, that's awkward. You know he's a listener as well.

39:42Jase:Oh, no, he's hearing this for sure. Right. But it's a good way for me to convey how we feel about him without him being in the room. Yeah, yeah, totally. So we as a show, we just think he's fine. Oh, it's all right. Because I really, really, really like him. And he gave Jay some hot sauce.

39:55Keyzie:Oh, easy on, Keezy. He did give me some hot sauce, and it's called Boom, the Black Seeds. What does that say, Keezy? I haven't got my glasses on. It says, pass it in. Oh, on the sun, ricotto hot sauce. Of course, On the Sun, one of their biggest albums. Yes. Bloody beautiful. Really? It's bloody beautiful. I'm just snipping away at it slowly as the show goes on. That's not an insane thing to do at all. No. It's totally normal. Hey, coming up after six, fellas, my wife had a dream. Oh, yeah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones.

40:38Keyzie:Hope your Thursday night's going along. Very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburg Gear. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options available also. Reburg Gear and redefining the norm.

40:57What the heck? I was dreaming about Reburger. Oh, my God. It was so crave-worthy. But it was gourmet and it was street food. Yeah! So good, fellas.

41:12Keyzie:Actually, we've got a bit of a dream theme happening for this hour, don't we, Keezy? Yeah, because I've got a story about a dream. Oh, yeah. Did I actually? Is that it? No, actually, just very quickly, I don't know if I told you, fellas, I had a dream the other night because I'm filming stuff at the moment. This will be good, Keezy. And it was horrific. And I was on set and, no, Moggy, I wasn't doing that. Gross. And it was a really big scene of which I was a big part of it. And then at one point I said to the director, can I have a look at the script? And then I looked at the script and went, I don't know that scene.

41:47Keyzie:What scene is that? Oh, my God, I don't know any of this. And no one would believe me. And they were setting up and I was like, no, I don't know this scene. I don't know it. And everyone just carried on like I was just taking the piss. Far out. And I woke up in an anxious sweat.

42:04Jase:That's not like you. You told us about that. I did tell you about it. Was that yesterday?

42:08Keyzie:Was that on the show he told us about it?

42:09Jase:Yeah, on the show. It went for ages. Just like that version. Did I? God. Shocking, bud. Yeah, that was. Yeah, we've heard this story before and the listeners. It was terrible. Look, we've got a text here on 3483. Heard this one, Jase. Stop banging on, Jase. Oh, God. I woke up with a rage or two, by the way.

42:27Keyzie:Oh, there you go. Boom. No, not in my... No. Guys. Mogi, pull yourself together. Tom Petty. Why not? The Hauraki Big Show. weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. ACDC there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this gorgeous Thursday evening. Hey, fellas. Bit of a worrying thing happened yesterday. My wife told me about a dream she had over the weekend. Oh, yeah. Yeah, so she was... And over the weekend, I went down to Tauranga and I hung out with my brother and visited my parents who had been away on holiday and were coming home. Yes. So I wasn't back at home until Monday. Right, okay. And so she didn't see me for three nights.

43:07Keyzie:Yeah. And she was talking about the dream. Can we have a bit of sexy dream music, Keezy? Well, no, I'm not playing sexy dream music. Yeah, I'll get it. Hang on, I'll play this. No. No, what? No, if you're going to talk about your wife's dream, it has to be the proper backdrop. Thank you. There we go. Now you're talking. I'll just undo a few buttons here, Keezy. Hold on. You might have a take. Oh, no. So she says, oh my God. Oh, yeah. God, that was easy. That's a good start. She goes, oh my God, I just remembered a dream I had about something, but I don't want to tell you about it because you're going to be mad.

43:51Keyzie:Oh, yeah. And I was like, why? When did this dream happen? She's like, Saturday night.

43:55Jase:So now you're just trying to get little bits and pieces out because she doesn't want to tell you. She does want to tell you. She does. But you're going to have to work for it, big boy. But she doesn't want me mad, you know, because she knows what I'm like when I'm mad. You're an absolute psycho. Yeah, you are. You're out of control.

44:10Keyzie:You're scary. I mean, you freak me out. I'm not scary when I'm mad. I'm a very relaxed guy. But I was like, oh, you know me, babe. I'm a relaxed guy. You can tell me. What was the dream about? She's like, well, I had an affair. Oh, yeah.

44:29Jase:That sounds about right. No, it doesn't. Yeah. And I was like, oh, who is the affair with? Really the question you should be asking is why? Why has she decided? Because she's not finding love at home, Keezy. I'll tell you that right now. She wouldn't be going out the door. Not getting what she needs. Well, this is the interesting thing. She wouldn't tell me who the affair was with.

44:50Keyzie:Oh, yeah. The part that really worried me was she goes, I think it's because you ditched me over the weekend.

44:56Jase:So it's your fault that she's had the affair? Well, the dream affair, not a real one. Wow. Wow. So I was like, I didn't ditch you. I went and visited my parents. Yeah. That's not ditching you. Yeah, but she feels abandoned, lonely. Yeah, and after one day she's having an affair? Yeah. She works fast, man. That was a dream, remember? This isn't real. She's in demand, Kesey. Of course she's an attractive woman. No, I know, Jase. I don't need you to tell me again. Very attractive woman.

45:24Keyzie:Very. No, you can stop. That's fine. No, I was going to say, you know, and I, she's a woman with needs. No, I really would prefer it if you stopped. Who do you think it was? Well, I kept asking her. I was like, who is it? And she's like, I can't tell you, you'll be mad. And then I was like, tell me it wasn't Hoody J. And she was like, ooh, no. And then I was like, not old Mogey. She's like, no, no, it was no one that you work with. Oh, okay. And I was like, who was it? And she's like, it was Ed Sheeran. Oh. She had a sexual dream about Ed Sheeran. Oh, so it was sexual?

46:05Jase:She had an affair, yes. Well, I mean, it's on brand. She's got shocking taste in her head. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

46:18Keyzie:Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. Hey, Keezy. What's that, man? What's this I'm hearing about the big show, Big Yarn? Oh, Jase, glad you asked, man. Douche, douche. We've teamed up with PGG Wrightson for the Big Show Big Yarn. Oh, how good. We do, we do. Oh, the Big Show, yeah. Yeah, because it's called the Big Show Big Yarn.

46:43Jase:Yeah, I just wondered, man. Sounds great so far. Trust me, I haven't even started yet. To celebrate the hardworking farmers that keep this country going. Yeah, bloody oats. To be in to win a PGG rights and prize pack and$100 cash, tell us your best farm yarn. Good, bad, or funny? We want to hear it. I've got one. Save it. Text PGG to 3483 and we'll send you a link to enter. Next week, we'll be calling winners back, giving away cash, and PGG rights and prize packs. Douche, douche. So if you've got a good yarn, text PGG to 3483. Go to the link there. Tell us your yarn. We can call you next week.

47:29Boom. 100 bucks cash. Boom. PGG rights and prize pack. Boom.

47:32Keyzie:I did wheeze on an electric fence. Oh, did you? Yeah. Yeah. What? That was my farm yarn. Oh, wow. What happened? Hell of a shock.

47:42Jase:Yeah. I remember getting shocked by an electric fence. Yes. Everyone was going, we were young, you know. There was me and a few other fellas there and my mum. and everyone was going, oh, touch the fence, touch the fence, touch the fence. And everyone was like, no, no. I was like, I'll touch it, I'll touch it. And I got a hurr of a shock. Yes. And I just sort of laughed it off. It's all good. And then I started crying and my mum cuddled me. So I felt better.

48:07Keyzie:But, Mogi, seriously, look, we're already starting with the yarns because my cousin did that to me on the farm. He said, it's not on, man. It's not on. Just grab it. Yeah. So I grabbed it and da-da-da-da-da-da-da.

48:20Jase:You grabbed it with your downstairs.

48:23Keyzie:Yeah, I just looped it over. Righto. Rural living made easy with PGG Wrightson. Shop online, store.pggwrightson.co.nz. They'll be stoked. Can you send this to them pugs? Thanks, man. Thanks, mate.

48:48Oh, shit. Sorry, I'm lifting the music on. Here's R.E.M. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

49:03Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big show done and dusted this Thursday night. Just a reminder, it'll just be key to you tomorrow on the big show.

49:10Jase:That's right. Where are you guys again? I've got the day off because I'm going to the New Zealand Screen Awards. It's pretty exciting. Got a couple of nominees. It's going to be a huge night. Night of nights, Jase. Night of nights. Absolutely, mate.

49:23Keyzie:Is that where you are too, Jase? No, no. I'm filming tomorrow all day. Oh, the secret project we can't talk about. Yeah, yeah. Well, Lady Chatterley's lover. Oh, that's right. Yeah, we can. Hey, Keezy, what's the podcast outro clip today? Too many full stops in that sentence. Today's clip, which comes out at 7.30, the full pod, is about being a perv.

49:44Jase:Can I say I feel like you've straightened up a bit? So if anything, it's just as easy as it always was for you to perv. The only one that's been robbed here is me, and I'll be talking to Bogsy about it. Absolutely stitched up. Because it's in your contract that you get to perv. Keezy, you're in the same position.

49:58Keyzie:You can still in. How dare you? And you always do the swivel of the head anyway. Oh, yeah, that was talking about Keezy's shocking perving. Don't say Keezy's shocking perving. It's you, Jase, actually. You've had the entire studio moved around so that you can perv better out the window. Shock and bastard. As if, fellas As if Hey, Moggy What's your plan tonight, mate?

50:22Jase:I'm not too sure, to be honest, man I'm going to go home and see if I can get some I think I'm coming down with a cold or something Because I've been a snotty bastard One of my eyes has not stopped leaking Sneezing up a storm It's a good time for old Moggy to have a day off I agree, Steve, I agree Early to bed, mate Early to bed Yeah, nice What about

50:38Keyzie:Oh, what's fatigue, Keezy? My wife is working late tonight Again! Again. My God, man. So when she gets home at about eight, we're going to go and grab something quick and easy. Maybe like a Vietnamese or something. You've been to Vietnam, Jase? Yes. Then we're going to have Vietnamese. Okay, cool. Why is that weird? No, it's just how you, because I can imagine you and your wife saying, hey, let's get something quick and easy tonight. Yes. Do you know what I mean? You can picture me saying that. I can picture you both saying that. I can picture you saying that. Yeah. Just something quick and easy, darling.

51:15Keyzie:You'll be working late. What about you, Jase? What are you doing tonight? I'll be giving myself an anxiety attack, probably learning lines. Yeah, right. Okay. And I don't know what's for tea. My wife's not telling me. So probably crayfish or something like that. Maybe some scallops mogi.

51:32Jase:Some kind of a pasture abomination. Scallops mogi.

51:37Keyzie:Looking forward to it. Hey, but listen. Yum. Thanks for listening to the show. Check out the podcast. Check out the Instagram. till, from my point of view, Monday. See you later! I'll be here tomorrow, though.
