In short

The Hauraki Big Show (Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue, Keyzie) discusses social media “reels,” runs a live poll about whether Pugs is racist, previews a Magic Round rugby league trip, talks TV recommendations, and does listener call-ins/texts (including dinner ideas). They also plan a Dunedin live broadcast and a student-flat electrolyte drop-off.

Guests/backgrounds

No external guests appear in the transcript. On-air hosts are Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue, Keyzie, and “Pugs” (a recurring studio personality). “Mogi” is mentioned as absent due to throat/snozz issues.

Key claims

Pugs repeatedly sends the same reel of a Chinese elderly woman singing Chinese folk covers; hosts claim this has “a tinge” of racism, plus possible sexism/ageism. The “Big Poll” result is stated as 90% saying “yes, Pugs is racist.” They also joke about vaping/smoking bets and Dunedin student “degenerates.”

Notable examples

The specific reel is played; texts to 3483 include “Moroccan chicken stew,” “mum’s cooking,” and nachos/curried sausages. Magic Round prize: Brisbane, flights/accommodation, 8 NRL games, Caxton Street, and a mate.

0:00Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Toledos. Rehydrate the right way with real ingredients and natural colours. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie.

0:17Keyzie:Oh g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company on this absolutely glorious Tuesday afternoon. It is the 21st of April, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show. Brought to you by Toledo's.

0:35Mike Minogue:Toledo's is taking over. No nasties, no compromises.

0:45Keyzie:Toledo's. An old Kesey sitting in Mogey's chair. No Mogey again today, sadly. We've got our fingers crossed, don't we, fellas? Yeah. that he's going to be right by tomorrow when we head down to Dunedin. We were talking about it on the podcast outro, actually. It's no surprise he's got a bit of snozz problem and throat problem. And we were talking about the fact that he's got such a massive honker, he must really vacuum some shit up there. So I think it's all clogged up, and hopefully he's going to go to the doctor today and get it all cleaned out and cleared out.

1:18Mike Minogue:Like a blocked sort of toilet tube. So that's what's wrong with him, because I thought he had like sinusitis or something.

1:24Jason Hoyte:Yeah, he did say that in the group chat, so I'm not sort of...

1:27Mike Minogue:But you're saying that his nose is blocked like a toilet tube?

1:30Keyzie:Yeah, pretty much, man.

1:32Mike Minogue:Right, okay.

1:32Keyzie:Because he's a heavy breather as well, as you know, Keezy. Yeah, a massive breather. If you can imagine, you know, he's in the CBD, he's just walking along just sucking up all the filth all the time. Like a street sweeper? Yeah, pretty much. Like a leaf blower, but internally. You know, not going externally.

1:46Mike Minogue:Yeah, like an internal leaf blower.

1:47Keyzie:Yeah, he's sucking the leaves up.

1:49Mike Minogue:Like an internal leaf blower into a toilet tube. Yeah, totally, man. I get it now.

1:53Keyzie:Hey, man. Hello. You're wearing your pink jacket. Looking good. Sharp as, man.

1:59Mike Minogue:Thank you. First of all, secondly, mate, I need you to promise me something. This is a faded red jacket, right? When I bought it in the store, it was faded red. Like, in the light of day, it looks pink. I need you to not make a big deal if when the Women's Day article comes out, I'm wearing this pink jacket in any of the photos, all right? Because I opened my cupboard and I let them choose an outfit and they chose the pink jacket straight away, the faded red jacket straight away. Listen, man, just on the record here, and for all the listeners,

2:27Keyzie:there is no way in the world that any of us are going to make a big deal about your Woman's Day article and what you're wearing and what you say. Thank you, mate. Thank you. That means a lot. Good stuff, mate. Hey, Pugson, jeez, you're looking sharp with your shiny boat shoes and your little sweater there.

2:45Jason Hoyte:How's life, you stud? My bright, shiny black boat shoes, Jason. Well, thank you. Always a pleasure to be here with you, fellas. Very grateful. I wish it was different circumstances. Yeah, totally.

2:55Mike Minogue:So the circumstances you want are that he maybe gets the sack and then you're in there. Is that what you're saying? Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I like that about Pugs. He's a go-getter. Yeah, he's an ambitious bastard, isn't he?

3:04Keyzie:Just climbing my way to the top. Hey, I'm fine, by the way, fellas. Oh, that's good. And yes, I do look hot. Sexy, even.

3:12Mike Minogue:See, this is why I didn't bother saying anything, because I knew both of those things. Do you want to know what's coming up in the show? Oh, vaguely.

3:21Mike Minogue:What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi? Obviously another chance to get yourself in the draw to join us in Magic Round. It's kind of brizzy. This draw is officially happening next week on the Friday there. So you are running out of chances to get yourself in the draw. It is a rugby league lover's dream. Listen out for the Q to call. Call 0800-HAURAKI straightaway when you hear it. A couple of chances to get yourself in the draw there today, which is bloody exciting. Jase, your wife is furious about a bet that we've made. Yes. I'm not surprised we'll be tackling that after 5 o 'clock. Coming up next, though, a very, very, very important big poll, and it's something we've been wanting to discuss for a while now.

4:00Mike Minogue:Totally, man. And so with Pugs being here in the studio, it seemed like the perfect time to tackle this particular topic. Like a good time to chat to you about it. We could just do it off. No, no. It's the perfect forum. Here's the Black Keys.

4:17Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

4:21Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Pearl Jam there on the radio. Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 11 minutes past 4 o 'clock. And, fellas, I wanted to talk to you about something that's very prolific in our society today, and that's reels. Do you know what a reel is, Pug-san? Like an Instagram reel. Yeah, like an Instagram reel.

4:40Mike Minogue:What about you, Keezy? Do you know what a reel is? I know what a reel is, Jase. And for those that don't know, a reel is usually a funny video of some sort. and it is a big part of society now where you've got your mates there and if you see a funny reel, or maybe it's your partner, you see a funny reel and you go, oh, you know who will enjoy this? Hoity J. Yeah, totally.

5:00Keyzie:Like, for example, I'll send reels to Keezy with people playing shocking golf shots. A hundred percent, yeah. And effing and jeffing and snapping their golf clubs, that kind of thing. I tell you what, one of my favourite things to do, for example, is my youngest daughter loves the reels I send her. She just thinks they're so cool. She loves Dad's reels. She just loves my reels. And my wife, she gets reels from her dad all the time, and she's like, oh, cool, Dad sent me another reel. She loves him, but sometimes people send you stuff that's not cool.

5:36Jason Hoyte:No, that's not funny either. I don't think they have to be funny. I think it can just be what you're interested in, right? And you think, oh, maybe I'll make a bid for connection with this person and see if they're interested as well.

5:47Keyzie:Well, for example, and you can relate to this, all three of us can relate to this. If Mogi sends us a reel, for example, I ain't opening it.

5:55Mike Minogue:No, because the last two have been, one was like a monkey with giant buzzies. Yes. He sent that to us several times. Oh, yeah. That was a whole thing last year. And then the one before that was like a horse. Yes. With a giant operation.

6:10Keyzie:Going on.

6:11Mike Minogue:And it was just like, yeah. And in that, when he sent us that horse one, he accidentally included Vaughn from ZM in the group chat. Do you remember that? And he was just like, oh, this is good stuff, fellas. But the reason we bring this up, Pugs. Me? Is because I think Jason and I both received the same, not one reel, about three or four. Oh, they've been. Yeah, it's constant. Yeah, all the time. And look, how about this? Just play the audio that I've put on the wall there. Just play that, just for the audience to hear.

6:42Jason Hoyte:Okay, I think this is it

6:58Mike Minogue:Yeah, right This is audio, Jase That's lovely You got sent this reel as well I've been sent this reel about 10 times from Pugs And so with that in mind And it leads to actually a big poll, if you don't mind, fellas. The big poll.

7:21Mike Minogue:And the big poll for today is, is Pugs racist?

7:27Keyzie:Is Pugs racist, yes or no? Well, you see, this is the interesting thing, because he sent me so many sort of similar reels like that, Keezy. You see, I thought, because he's just got back from Vietnam, that she was Vietnamese. Yeah, yeah. But it turns out she's not Vietnamese. She's actually Chinese. Would that not make you racist then? Should the poll not be as Jace racist? I could understand you sending me something, you know, like a Vietnamese song having just got back from Vietnam. But just a random... But a random Chinese woman singing a song. And sending it 10 or 12 times. What's wrong with that?

8:00Keyzie:That's a great video. Look, Pugs. It's just love Pugs.

8:04Mike Minogue:Pugs, this is why we're doing the big poll, all right? to establish who's in the wrong here. So once again, the big poll for today is, is Pugs racist? Yes or no, you can vote on the Hauraki Big Show Instagram story. Go there now. And that way we'll put it to bed.

8:18Jason Hoyte:Do I get any chance to make a case for myself?

8:20Keyzie:No, not at this point. We're going to a song. But listen, also text us 3483 if you are like me and Keezy and just utterly appalled by that. It's great singing.

8:31Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4. on Radio Hauraki. Red Hot!

8:39Keyzie:Chilli Peppers here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 24 minutes past four o 'clock. And we've been having an interesting discussion re-sending other people reels. Because Pug San has got into the habit, hasn't he, Keezy? Yeah. Of sending us this one particular woman. I think he sent me 15 reels now of the same woman. And I... It's sort of slightly concerning me because it has a tinge of racism to it.

9:07Mike Minogue:Huge tinge of racism. What? And also Pugs. If you just play the audio now, just for the listeners.

9:20Jason Hoyte:Beautiful scene.

9:21Mike Minogue:That's lovely.

9:22Jason Hoyte:It's really lovely. I like the vibrato. Am I able to speak to this at all, fellas? Well, you can. Big pole first of all. We're doing the big pole. The Big Pole.

9:39Mike Minogue:Today's Big Pole up on the Hodaki Big Show Instagram. Is pugs racist, yes or no? Feel free to go there, have a vote, and the results will be conclusive.

9:47Keyzie:I mean, it's the sort of area that I won't go anywhere near, as you know about me, fellas.

9:52Mike Minogue:Yeah, and you're willing to do some stuff, but others aren't.

9:54Keyzie:Yeah, totally, man. But in this political landscape that we live in now, Oh, she's very, very skinny ice that you're skating across there, Pugsam, with your shiny boat shoes.

10:05Jason Hoyte:I got sent that reel by my best mate. Okay, so racism. Oh, sorry.

10:11Mike Minogue:They all hang out together. Oh, sorry, you guys still talking.

10:14Jason Hoyte:Oh, okay, no, you go ahead. Thanks, man. I got sent one of those reels by my best mate, and I love the singing. I believe her handle goes along the lines. It's Muye Cha or something like that. And she's an old lady. she's in a field and she's singing covers of Chinese folk songs. And my friend sent me one of those and all of a sudden my entire algorithm was this woman singing her Chinese folk songs. And I loved it. I think she's so endearing. I think it's really sweet. She's putting herself out there singing those songs. There's nothing racist about it. I enjoy the videos, fellas. Right. And I want to share that with you.

10:47Jason Hoyte:Is that so much to ask?

10:49Mike Minogue:It's you cracking up while you're doing it that sort of makes me feel uneasy. For example, a lot of texts are coming in on 3483, which is good. Not racist, hilarious. That's good stuff. That's good, yeah.

10:59Jason Hoyte:But also just endearing.

11:01Mike Minogue:Sam says it's definitely racism, but more concerning, it's also sexism.

11:06Keyzie:I did wonder about the double whammy there, fellas.

11:10Mike Minogue:Oh, 100%, man. Pugs is so racist on 3483. Ashley says if Pugs can explain why that reel is funny, he isn't racist.

11:18Jason Hoyte:Well, as I just explained, it's not that I find it funny. Well, why were you laughing just before? I wasn't. I think it's funny that my entire algorithm is now her. Look, I'll tell you what's funny.

11:29Keyzie:For example, when I went through a period where I sent Keezy reels of people with weird nips. I mean, that's funny because obviously. What about all the mukbang ones? Keezy's got, you know, his nips. And so it's funny, but also, hey, there's a community of you out there with weird nips. So, you know, you're not alone.

11:48Mike Minogue:Thank you, man. I think that's really good stuff. 100%. So, see, that's humor. So Jase sending me the same reels that everyone has sent me a thousand times Of people with big nips That's really funny Totally man You guys are really leaning on the funny thing

12:02Jason Hoyte:I didn't find it funny man I really enjoy that

12:04Mike Minogue:No we didn't find it funny You thought it was hysterical So look keep the text coming in on 3483 We're just trying to get a good idea of what we're dealing with here Someone's also texted through here It's also ageist She's an old woman

12:18Jason Hoyte:Oh my It's a triple whammy. Can we do three poles in one day? The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

12:30Keyzie:Welcome back. The Big Show. Magic round three beat. Let's put another mad bastard on the bench. Yes, indeed. And as Keezy mentioned at the top of the show there, we're going to be drawing the winner for that next Friday. Fellas, we excited?

12:46Mike Minogue:I'm excited, Jase. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Probably more excited for the actual weekend itself. Yes. Of course, it is three nights over in Brisbane there, flights and accommodation included, and the winner gets to bring a mate. And then they get to watch eight games of Rugby League. They then get to hang out on Caxton Street. They get to, oh, they just get to, oh. It's amazing.

13:06Keyzie:And if you want to, you know, I'm going to do a bit of cultural sort of stuff there, a few galleries, maybe a few restaurants. You know, they can maybe come out with Old Hoody J, maybe a little float down the river there. Sure. Just to sort of, you know, widen the experience out of it. I mean, it's up to them. They're the winners. They can do whatever the hell they want, fellas.

13:23Mike Minogue:Do you really think that people calling up for a weekend of rugby league debauchery might consider going to a gallery with you?

13:29Keyzie:Totally, man. Let's find out. G'day, Phil, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, it's good. It's going good. Good on you, mate. Good on you, Phil, man. Tell me, Phil, what do you do for a crust? I'm a carpenter. Oh, backbone. I also see you're in Dunedin. You're going to come to the live show tomorrow? Oh, it depends if my name gets drawn out, I guess. Oh, I see. It's sort of a give and take. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

13:55Mike Minogue:You're not actually allowed to call it blackmail anymore, Jase. Oh, just mail is fine. Just mail, yeah. He's trying to mail me, fellas. 100%. Hey, Phil, who are you going to bring if you win this prize, brother? Oh, to be honest, I haven't really put much thought into it because I never thought I was going to get through. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah. But if you had to right now, just quickly pick someone, who would it be? Potentially, I'd probably say my brother, because he's got a second kid, June and June. That's a great show. That sounds nice. Nice call, mate.

14:24Keyzie:Last hurrah. Well, good on you, mate. You're in the draw, so good luck with that, Phil. Let's go to Dave. Dave, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good and yourself. Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good, Dave. Good, good, good. What do you do for a crust, Dave? Farm machinery tractor. Oh, yeah. Of course you are. I mean, you don't get more backbone than that. Of course.

14:45Mike Minogue:He lives in Morrinsville, Jase, which is like farmer central, you know? Yeah, totally. Hey, Dave. Mighty Wai Kado. Yeah, the mighty Wai Kado. Hey, Dave, who are you going to bring with you if you win the prize, mate? Oh, probably me, mate, Ed. Ed? Oh, Ed. A bit of a wildcat. Oh, Ed. He's a wildcat. I'd call him more of a mad dog. Old Ed. He's a shocker, isn't he? Yeah, he is a shocker. Yeah, he is now. Oh, he is now. Yeah, okay, sweet. Well, I guess as long as he's out of jail and he's served his time, then it should be sweet. All right, Dave, you're in the draw, mate. All right, good luck. Thank you.

15:17Keyzie:Good on you, mate. Let's go to Sam. Sam, you mad bastard. He's in Wellington. First and foremost, Sam, how are you guys doing down there? How's all the damage and carnage?

15:30Mike Minogue:Oh, she's blowing a gale down here, mate. I tell you what, it's a great day to be a bloody windmill. Great day to be a windmill. Bad day to be a beer. Yes. You're not cheesy. Sam, you mad bastard. What do you do for a crust, mate? I'm a delivery driver down here, brother. Oh, good on you, mate. Backbone shit.

15:48Keyzie:Backbone. Who would you take with you, Sam?

15:51Mike Minogue:Three people. Either Charlie Gubb, my ex-brother-in-law, or my mum. Oh, it's tough. The big three.

15:57Jason Hoyte:The ex-brother-in-law? Yeah, mate. Yeah. He's a mad bastard.

16:02Mike Minogue:Yeah. Just because the relationship ended doesn't mean you can't still hang with the brother-in-law, pugs. You're so right. Oh, I still love him, bro. I still love him. Yeah, true.

16:09Keyzie:actually. That might be a good way to get Gubbie on board. Yeah, right. You know what I mean? 100%. Why do you haven't said that? I don't know that I want Gubbie to come. He always gives me a bit of jerk.

16:18Mike Minogue:It's not up to you, mate. It's up to me. Yeah, that's right, James. Actually, Sam's got a bit of attitude.

16:22Keyzie:Can you scratch Sam, please? Yeah, sweet. I'll flag him.

16:25Mike Minogue:Take me off. I don't want to go with you, boss. You're in the draw, Sam. Good luck, brother. Too bad. Good on you, mate. I like the sound of Sam, actually. And if you don't want him to bring Charlie, he can always bring his mum.

16:38Keyzie:Oh, no, you know, Look, having Gubbie there would be great. You know what I'm saying, fellas? Would it? Because we've never met in person, actually, Gubbie and I. I reckon we'd get on like a house on fire.

16:49Mike Minogue:That's right.

16:49Jason Hoyte:We caught up with him at the Bear Vana show in Wellington.

16:51Mike Minogue:We went to Wellington, did a live show, but because you left at 7.01pm and he arrived at 7.02, you missed him. What do you think I left at 7.01pm? Because you're scared of him? Yeah, thought so. Hey, shout out to boystrip.co.nz. Travel made easy. If you want to guarantee your spot on this trip, hit up the website there. They take care of everything.

17:09Keyzie:Great stuff. In the meantime, here's Guns.

17:12Jason Hoyte:Roses. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed.

17:18Keyzie:The Strokes there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.49. Let's talk TV.

17:25Jason Hoyte:Oh, yeah. Oh, my goodness. I've hit the wrong one. I'm sorry. Come on, pugs. Jesus. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

17:35Yeah.

17:36Mike Minogue:Yeah. For people just starting to text in what they're having for dinner tonight Because you accidentally played the start of that sting We will be doing that later in the show Yeah totally, it's a Tuesday night I was just getting excited, sorry

17:46Keyzie:I think you're just a little bit flustered because of the big poll at the moment Is Pug's racist I'm just under fire Yeah, it's just playing on your mind The heat's getting to me Incidentally, go on the Instagram and make sure you vote on that by the way

17:57Mike Minogue:And another thing I'd say is if you weren't racist You'd probably be pretty chill about it Yeah you wouldn't be worried at all So that's also just a big So that's a good sign that I'm a bit flustered is it? It's all good. It's confirming suspicions. What did you watch, Jase?

18:10Keyzie:Well, as I said yesterday, I started watching Beef Season 2 on Netflix there. And it's basically it's like Season 1 where a small incident gets blown out of proportion and the parties start trying to exact a revenge on each other. And in Season 2 it's the same kind of premise with a young couple trying to blackmail a wealthy older couple. Just male, yeah. Things exponentially increase in intensity. They're turning the tables on each other. I finished the series last night. You know, I don't want to give it away because I have a habit of doing that. It becomes really about what is it do we want in our lives at the end of the day.

18:54Keyzie:Right, okay. It becomes a redemption story. Wow, that's nice. So how many busies out of five? I think it was kind of cool. Some people might find it a bit lame, and I see it's got some bad reviews, But having said that, I enjoyed it. 3.2 buzies. That's pretty good.

19:10Mike Minogue:Out of a possible five, and that's on Netflix. It's called Beef. Yeah, Beef Season 2. I watched last night with my wife the first episode of Rooster on Neon, which is a kind of comedy starring Steve Carell, brand new TV show. I think the episodes are still coming out, like weekly. He is a crime writer who goes to this college to talk to the students there. It just so happens to be the college or university, as they call it in the States, college. it just so happens to be the same university where his daughter works and she's just had a very public and messy breakup with her husband and so he's there to sort of check on her under the guise of talking to the students about his crime novel writing and I was like Steve Carell you know light hearted my wife was sold we watched the trailer she was oh yeah we watched the episode kind of okay and then at the end really really good it ends the first episode ends it sets everything up it ends with just a massive oh my god You know what I mean?

20:04Keyzie:Did your wife cope with that okay, Keezy?

20:06Mike Minogue:Not like a bad, oh my God, but just like, oh gosh, here we go. The shit's really hit the fan now. You know, that sort of thing. Right. And then my wife goes, I didn't really enjoy that. And she's like, did you enjoy that? I was like, yes, very much so. I very much enjoyed that episode. I was probably like a 3.7 out of 5 blizzies scenario, neon. It's called Rooster. But we're not going to watch any more of it because my wife wasn't that into it.

20:29Keyzie:Well, no, but listen, on the bright side, your wife is out most nights now, so I can just see you in your undies on the couch there with your pizza, just watching it by yourself. Because you don't need your wife to watch something, all right?

20:43Mike Minogue:Yeah, I don't need my wife. Nero. Yeah, that's what I've taken away from that. 100%. 3.7 Buzzi's, as I say, Rooster on Neon. You want to know what I watched? Yes. Well, yeah, eventually.

20:54Jason Hoyte:I watched the second season of Last One Laughing on Prime, I've got like one episode left. I boosted through most of the season. So you watched seven episodes? Yeah, a good seven episodes. Last night? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Holy cow. Haven't you got work to do or something, Pugs? Nah, not really. It was really, really cool to see. Diane Morgan, who is famous for her character, Philomena Kunk, is on there. David Mitchell from Peak Show. I've heard he's in a very funny performance in that show, actually. Reigning champion Bob Mortimer is back and a slew of other comedians. And there's also, well, it's in the first five minutes of the episode.

21:28Mike Minogue:Spoiler alert for the first season if you haven't seen it.

21:30Jason Hoyte:There's a character, sorry, a character. There's a comedian on there, Sam. I can't remember his last name. He's an Australian comedian. And it's really interesting seeing how the Aussie comedy, the very dry, deadpan, mixes in with the British comedy, which is also dry and deadpan in many ways, but it's slightly different. And they're trying to figure this guy out. It's a fascinating dynamic. Is he bald? Does he have glasses? No. Okay, different guy. Yeah. That's on Prime, and I give it 3.8 buzies. Good comedy if you're keen to have a laugh.

22:00Keyzie:Hey, here's Faith No More.

22:05Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

22:11Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday's going along tickety-boo. You are, in fact, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Toledo's.

22:20Mike Minogue:Toledo's electrolytes. Clean, cutting-edge hydration. Get it in you.

22:31Mike Minogue:Toledo's. If you'd like to try some, by the way, natural, New Zealand-made, electrolyte beverages. Good after playing sports, going for a run, being hungover maybe. Whatever you choose, head to toledos.co.nz, otherwise available nationwide at Fresh Choice and at New Worlds and Pack and Saves as well. Slowly adding more to the list, but it's a growing company, a small business.

22:51Keyzie:Kiwi-owned too, man. Kiwi owned and operated. Yeah, great stuff. Hey, now listen, you may be wondering where the bloody hell is Mogey? He's still a little bit crook at the moment. Got a few throat and snozz issues. Yeah. But we're hopeful, fingers crossed, that he's going to be back on board for tomorrow's live showdown in Dunners.

23:10Mike Minogue:Well, Boss Toddy just came in and gave me the finger. You know how he does the finger guns? He gave you the finger. The finger guns. He's always giving you the finger, actually, the boss. Is he? Yeah. Like behind my back in that. Yeah, it's just kind of off-putting, to be honest.

23:24Keyzie:Could you guys sort of do it in another space?

23:26Mike Minogue:What, him giving me the finger? Yes. But he was actually saying, he came in, gave me the finger, and then said, suck on that. And then he said, hey, by the way. What, his finger? And then he said, hey, by the way, Mogi. He said he'll be there tomorrow.

23:39Keyzie:Why would he say that? Mogi's not even here. What do you mean? Well, why would he say, hey, Mogi. No, no. He's sick.

23:45Mike Minogue:He's at home. Jase, okay, let me spell this out for you. He walked in. he pulled the finger at me and said suck on this. Out of you. He pulled his finger out of me and then said suck on this and he flipped the bird at me at that point. Right, okay. And then he put his hands in his pockets kind of all cool like and then he said hey Mogey. And then I said to him why aren't I'm kesey? He's just like no, no, no let me finish. Hey Mogey's on board for tomorrow as well. Oh great news. That's right.

24:09Keyzie:God, took forever to bloody get there though.

24:11Mike Minogue:Oh look man, I'm not here to question how he operates. You know how he is? That's just how he rolls. You just take it, eh?

24:20Keyzie:Hey, speaking of which. What, taking it? No, we're going to be in Dunedin tomorrow. Sorry, can you not say he just takes it and then go into Space Hog?

24:31Mike Minogue:But we are going to be in Dunedin tomorrow, so if you're in the area, Emerson's, the brewery. Yes. 4-7 will be there live. Beautiful.

24:37Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

24:44Keyzie:Audio Slave there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is, wait for it, 16 minutes past 5 o 'clock. Nailed it, Jase. Good stuff.

24:53Mike Minogue:Thanks, mate. Hey, tomorrow we're going to be down in Dunedin broadcasting live from Emerson's Brewery. 4-7, first hundred through the door, free backbone T-shirt. It's going to be bloody good. And Mogi has given the big thumbs up. He will be there also, which is great. While we're in Dunedin, Jase, we figured we might as well go and dive and dip our toes in, really, to the world of student flats. Yeah, man. So we have got a big old box of Toledo's electrolyte beverages, and we are keen to drop it off to a flat in Dunedin. Pugs has just put a post up on Instagram there. What is it, tag a flat or something?

25:25Jason Hoyte:It's tag your flat, mates, but let us know what suburb you're in. In Dunn is there, and we could be turning up.

25:30Keyzie:Yeah, because we don't want to go too far. Nah. I don't want to go out of my way. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's cold down there, man. I'd rather be just in my hotel room or in a pub. I don't want to go out to the bloody outskirts of bloody Dunedin.

25:43Jason Hoyte:and also just be prepared to maybe do a bit of a flat tour for the felons if we turn up.

25:48Mike Minogue:We'd love to see it. I want a tour of the flat, and we'll drop off some electrolytes to help with any recovery you might be doing that week.

25:53Keyzie:Yeah, that's a good idea, Keeser, because I've got to be honest with you, I'm a touch nervous about that. It's been a little while since my student days.

26:00Mike Minogue:Yeah. You know what I'm saying? And you were never a student in Dunedin, right? You were in Auckland. Yeah, I was an Auckland boy. So that's the thing. It's a whole other level down there, Jase. They are degenerates. Like, it's terrible. You don't need to tell me that.

26:11Keyzie:It's filthy. It's disgusting.

26:13Jason Hoyte:They're disgusting.

26:13Keyzie:I'll be wearing a mask. Don't you worry about that.

26:16Jason Hoyte:My first memory of Dunedin is driving down one of the popular flat streets in the middle of winter and just all the doors being open because it's just the same temperature inside as it is outside. So you might as well get some airflow in there. The houses are terrible. Yeah.

26:28Mike Minogue:They're cool, but they're terrible. As part of this, Jase, obviously, we're going to be in there trying to sort of chat to the younger generation. You know, we're talking about people in their late teens, early 20s. I like to think of myself as young, but I'm not anymore. more. I'm 34, still a young fella, but not as young as these people. Now Pugs, he's 30 but he hangs around with a lot of early 20 year olds.

26:50Keyzie:Hang on. He certainly does. I don't know about that. So he's down with the lingo. He's down alright. If you see a group of

26:58Mike Minogue:early 20s females, Pugs will be there somewhere. Totally. He'll be all over it. All over it, like a cheap suit. With that in mind Pugs, just sort of thinking, maybe you can help me and Hoity J out with some of our lingo with these young bucks we're going to be running into down there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to check a few sayings, whether they're still cool. For example, do people still say, what the?

27:20Jason Hoyte:Because I still do. Is that still cool? What's that a reference to? It's like a 90s movie or something. What's that? It's not a reference. It's just how I say. Jase, can you run it real quick? What the? Shit, yeah, that's cool. Yeah, that's really nice. Yeah, man, go hard. Right, that's still good? They still run it, man. Yeah, yeah. It's fresh as ever.

27:37Keyzie:Like when we get to the flat and I'm looking at the flat and I go, yeah, man, I dig it.

27:43Mike Minogue:That's good, actually.

27:44Jason Hoyte:Yeah. No, no, no. I mean, I spoke to a correspondent down in Dunedin there and he said, I dig that you guys are coming to Dunedin. So I reckon you run it.

27:52Keyzie:I could go, hey, this is rad. Rad. That is so good. Write that down, actually.

27:57Jason Hoyte:I didn't have that one.

27:58Mike Minogue:I'm writing that down. Do people still say cool beans? You know what I mean? Like, oh, hey, do you want some Toledos?

28:05Jason Hoyte:Yeah, man, I'd love some Toledos. and then I go, oh, cool beans. Yeah, 100%. Well, I think that's a surefire way to get some respect. Okay. Yeah.

28:12Keyzie:What about if there's like a young dude down there and he's dressed and he's in alternative gear because they can't afford new gear? Are you describing pugs? Well, it could be a pugs type character in the flat and I look at him and go, hey, bro, looking fat. Fat.

28:31Jason Hoyte:Or maybe not if they're a me type, you know what I mean?

28:33Keyzie:Well, no, just the sort of quirky, wacky, lots of rings on. Oh, so not that they're overweight. You're talking about P-H-A-T. P-H-A-T.

28:42Jason Hoyte:Well, you might need to specify.

28:43Keyzie:You be fat. See, that does sound like you're having to go at their image.

28:48Mike Minogue:You know what I mean?

28:49Keyzie:Well, no, I'm talking fat as in P-H-A-T.

28:52Mike Minogue:See, I think either spell it out like that or point to something like, oh, Pugs, that hat is fat. You know what I mean? Oh, okay. Yeah, okay. What if someone asks me what I've been up to and I say big chillin'?

29:04Jason Hoyte:You say that currently unironically, and I really like it. I think you should run with it. Because I am often big chiller. You are a big chiller, man, and there's nothing wrong with that.

29:12Keyzie:There might be a guy, for example, is shooting just on that front, Kesey. You know, he may have had a bucky bong or something, and I'd go, jeez, look at that cat. He's zonked out.

29:25Jason Hoyte:You're good, Joe.

29:26Keyzie:Was it the cat part of it? Look at that cat. He's zonked out.

29:30Jason Hoyte:They also say zooted. Zooted. That's another word for zonked, Jase, so you can keep that.

29:35Keyzie:And then over in the corner there, there could be, for example, a guy on his computer who's actually doing his studies. Yeah, okay. And I'll go, like, tote square, man. Spot on.

29:49Jason Hoyte:Okay, good. Okay, I feel a bit more confident about this now. I'm surprised how good you were at all of those, and I think tomorrow, just when you're interacting with the people, run a few of them.

30:00Mike Minogue:What the?

30:03Keyzie:Fat! Fat! You be fat!

30:06Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.

30:11Keyzie:Let's put another mad bastard on the bed. Yes, indeed, let's do that. Of course, the draw next Friday for the winner, fellas, so time is running short if you want to get on that list.

30:22Mike Minogue:That's right. You have to listen out for the queue to call. You then dial 0800-HAURAKI like these massive backbones have done.

30:28Keyzie:G'day, Nathan, you mad bastard. How's life?

30:30Jason Hoyte:Oh, not bad, Chef. How are you going, Hoody J?

30:32Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good, good. You had a good day, Nathan.

30:35Jason Hoyte:Oh, it's been, you know.

30:37Keyzie:You got through it. Another day. Yeah, good on you, mate. What do you do for a crust? Yeah, just a builder.

30:42Mike Minogue:Oh, builder. Build a backbone. Backbone stuff. How's gore today, Nathan? Oh, it's been pretty cold and whatnot, but, you know. So pretty standy?

30:50Keyzie:Yeah. He's a backbone, man. It doesn't bother him, Keezy.

30:53Mike Minogue:Totally. Nathan, you like your rugby league, mate? Oh, as much as old Hoody J does, but. Oh, okay, so you hate it? Oh. Yeah, nah. It's all good, Nathan. You're in the draw, mate. All right? Good luck. Cheers.

31:08Keyzie:Let's go. Is it van or van? Let's ask him. Is it van or van, van or van? It is van, mate. G'day, van, you massive backbone. How's life? Oh, not bad, mate. Pissing down here in Hastings, but all is well. Yeah, good, good stuff.

31:24Mike Minogue:What do you do for a crust, van? I'm a beekeeper.

31:28Keyzie:Oh.

31:28Mike Minogue:You're joking. What a backbone. How good. Is that a fun job, Van? Oh, amazing. I love it.

31:34Keyzie:Right. What's it like? Is there a sort of downturn in the old winter period?

31:39Mike Minogue:Yeah. Yeah, just feeding bees, mate. That's about it at the moment. Yeah, right. And what kind of honey are you making, Van? Good old manuka, mate. Oh, yeah. Bloody good for you, that stuff. Do you call it vanuka? Yes, I actually do, actually. Yeah, that's good shit. I love that. That's great. Oh, no way. Van, if you win this prize, mate, who are you going to bring with you? Probably my brother. He's down in Christchurch at the moment. Oh, yeah. Good to see him. Yeah, nice. Bloody ripper.

32:07Keyzie:Like it, Van. Good on you, mate. You're in the draw. Finally, Miles, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, buddy, good, mate. Work's over. Yeah. Bloody oath. Mind you, I'm the opposite. I hate it when the show's over. Do you? I get so... Is that why you leave so fast? You leave your microwave stains all over the place, Jase? I was just frustrated that it went so quickly, that's all. Tell me, Miles, what do you do for a crust? A mechanic. Oh, yeah, in that boat. Oh, good on you, mate. Actually, you should speak to Miles, Pakistan, because you've been having all sorts of car issues that you keep banging on about in the brake.

32:40Jason Hoyte:The idle air control valve there, Miles, it's a shocker. Yeah, no, that sounds like a new problem, eh? Yeah, cheers, brother, and you are not going in the draw.

32:48Mike Minogue:No, he totally is. Hey, Miles, because you're a mechanic, does anyone ever make any jokes about your name being Miles? Yeah, the odd person calls me kilometres for some reason. Yeah, yeah, good stuff. That's good shit. Miles, all right, mate, you're in the draw as well, all right? Fingers crossed. All right, Joyce, cheers, guys. Good on you, mate. Good on you, mate. Thanks for getting in the draw. If you're wondering what the hell Magic Round it is, it's three amazing nights in Brisbane, Suncorp Stadium, eight games of NRL. The Warriors are playing. They're taking on the Broncos. They're going to get such a hiding.

33:17Mike Minogue:The Broncos certainly are, Jase. Good point. And, you know, we've been to Magic Round twice now, and the Warriors have never lost while we've been there. In fact, the first time they took on the Panthers and we were heavily depleted, the Panthers being the best team in modern history, and we still beat them. And as a result, me, Pugs and Mogi had a huge night and missed the plane home, whereas Jase was there bright and early and got home because he's a good little boy. Hey, Jase. Hey, Jase. Jase. They went home and just started gooning hard. Hey, boystrip.co.nz if you want to guarantee your spot on the trip.

33:50Mike Minogue:Here's Franz Ferdinand.

33:51Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

33:56Keyzie:Yes, indeed, stained there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. The time is 5.51. Don't forget, because it's a Tuesday night, what's on the dinner with me, Keezy, after 6 o 'clock? So text through on 3483 what you're having for dinner tonight. We'll read those out, and you'll immediately go in the draw to win yourself 50 bucks cash. thanks to our mates at Toledo's.

34:23Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's a good offer. I also want to know what your name is and where you're texting from. Yeah, sure. So what's your name, where you're texting from, and what's for dinner 3483?

34:31Keyzie:Fellas, we've got a problem. You'll be aware of the fact that I said that I'm going to give up the vape in May.

34:38Mike Minogue:That's right. Now, this is, what, the millionth time we've done this on the show. Jase, I put the challenge to you because you said, you came in one day and said, I'm sick of having a headache and sore lungs. Yeah. And I stopped vaping a wee bit and it went away. and so you're like, I need to stop vaping. Yes. So I said, how about this? Don't vape for the month of May, which is, you know, you've still got more than a week away to get prepared for it. Yeah, to just smash it hard. And if you don't vape for the entire month of May, Mogi has to give me and you$100. Yes. Whereas if you do vape, we both have to give Mogi$100.

35:12Keyzie:Unfortunately for me, my beautiful wife heard that conversation on the radio and was absolutely disgusted. Really? Yes, she's not into it at all. Why? Well, she said it's like throwing money down the drain, unquote. Right, so she is that? She is that adamant that I'm going to fail, that she was fuming about the fact that I'm going to literally be. And she said, poor old Keezy.

35:39Mike Minogue:Yeah, thank you.

35:40Keyzie:You know what I mean? He's going to chuck$100 down the drain as well. And I was like, oh, well, thanks very much for the support, my love.

35:48Mike Minogue:Right, and she's based that on what, your 20 failures? I don't know, Keezy. Well, it's definitely based on a past filled with you not giving it up properly. But honestly, Jase, I stand by what I said. Yes.

35:58Keyzie:Well, you doubled down the other day and said$200. And I really appreciated that. Did I? You said you'd cover me and you'd take it on yourself because you believed so strongly that I could do it that you were prepared to take on my financial burden as well.

36:16Mike Minogue:Now, Jase, that doesn't sound quite correct, but I will up my buy-in to$200. However, I need you to also have money on the line. Otherwise, it becomes a situation where if you have a vape, you then get to watch me pay Moggy$200. So that's a real lose-lose for me, and you win.

36:34Keyzie:I just feel like you're copping out by doing that, KD. I'm copping out.

36:38Mike Minogue:No,$200. I'll put$200 on it, 100%. Okay. If I could pay$1 ,000 right now and you'd never vape again, I'd pay the money. Okay. No, that's not a bet.

36:50Keyzie:So Keezy's going to do$1 ,000, and you've got this on audio. Pugs, have you got this on audio? $1 ,000.

36:57Jason Hoyte:Text us on 3, 3 if you've got it on audio.

36:58Keyzie:And if I don't vape for the month of May. Or smoke. Or smoke. Oh, we didn't mention smoke. Okay, Jase, come on, man.

37:07Jason Hoyte:Stop looking for loopholes. We had a loophole yarn like two days ago.

37:11Keyzie:Nicorette, that's all right, eh? What's that? That's the gum. That's the gum.

37:15Jason Hoyte:Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, yeah, okay.

37:16Keyzie:Nose ends. So Keezy's prepared to pay$1 ,000 if I vape in the month of May. Have you got that, Pugs? Jase. Because I'm not going to let you down, Keezy.

37:27Mike Minogue:Jase, you're doing that thing where you talk really loud and then all of a sudden Keezy's got$1 ,000 on the line. What I've said was if I could pay$1 ,000 and you'd never smoke or vape again, I'd pay the money.

37:37Keyzie:Okay. All right? So$1 ,000, Pugs. Keezy's putting$1 ,000. Mate, Keezy, please. I appreciate it greatly. I'm not going to let you down, man. Yes, you are. I am not going to let you down. You are. And you've got your game of two halves money. That show. Worst case scenario.

37:56Mike Minogue:That show hasn't been on TV in months, all right? I'm starting to get to the end of that money. Pugs, do you want in on this bet? No. Oh.

38:06Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

38:12Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday night's going along very nicely indeed and you're settled into your sofa listening to The Big Show and maybe having a cold beverage. By the way, The Big Show is brought to you by Toledo's.

38:25Mike Minogue:Old brands are done. Toledo's is taking over. No nasties, no compromises. Toledo's Electrolite Beverages.

38:37Mike Minogue:Toledo's! New Zealand made, get it in you, 100 % natural.

38:40Keyzie:It's funny, fellas. I've got a little thing happening. I'm in an auction at the moment. Oh, yeah? And my wife, she's in the same auction, right? Yeah. And she sent me this message saying, what do you think of these sort of two side tables that we could have next to the bear? And I went, oh, you're not bad. And so she's been bidding on it. But I keep outbidding her. As a joke? Yeah. That is quite funny. Yeah, yeah. And so she'll make a bid, and I'll go, okay, chuck another 50 on there.

39:10Mike Minogue:So what's it up to now?

39:11Keyzie:Well, the estimate was for the two side tables was like 300 bucks. Yeah. It's up to 780 at the moment. That'll show it. She just messaged me before saying, there's one other loser bloody bidding against me, and it's driving me nuts. And it's like, it's old Haughty J. It's old Horty J. Oh, she's gone 800-y.

39:36Mike Minogue:Hey, um... I was just quickly, Jase. Congrats on the side tables, by the way. Sounds like a good bargain. Pugs was just saying that when he plays Scrabble, he does a four-letter minimum.

39:48Jason Hoyte:Yeah, four-letter word minimum when I play Scrabble.

39:50Mike Minogue:Four-letter minimum. Jase, have you heard of that rule before? Is he talking shit? He's talking shit. You know, as the linguist that you claim to be

39:57Jason Hoyte:and the writer that you think that you are, I'm surprised that you allow three letter words into your Scrabble game. Pugs.

40:04Mike Minogue:The official rules of Scrabble your word must be at least two letters in length.

40:08Jason Hoyte:I never said it was the official rule. Right, so I just said it's dumb if you go three letter math. Why? It's how you play the game. Go for it.

40:15Keyzie:I do three letters just to annoy people but also funnily enough my wife was on her phone she plays against her sister and I can't remember the name of the slide it's Scrabble and her sister Scrabble.com put in Zune

40:29Jason Hoyte:Zune has there anyone? Zune was a competitor to the iPod in the early 2000s So it is actually a word

40:36Keyzie:It's a brand My wife was like that's not a word but it was allowed somehow She was outraged

40:42Jason Hoyte:But four at a minimum is just being pretentious I don't think it's being pretentious I'm just saying challenge yourself Keezy You're a man of your words I challenge myself every day when I walk in here

40:50Mike Minogue:and I work with you pugs alright That's enough challenge for me Hey what are you having for dinner? 3483 text it on through You can get yourself 50 bucks cash. In the meantime, here's Muse.

41:03Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

41:07Keyzie:It's indeed Green Day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show, but right now it's time for...

41:12Mike Minogue:Oh, hey, guys. Text here from Steve. What's on the tea with me, dinner with me, Keith?

41:19Keyzie:That's good.

41:20Mike Minogue:So good. What's for dinner, New Zealand? 3483. The text are flying in, fellas. Bloody exciting. Rosie. O'Donnell. Yep. Let's text in on 3483. Rosie in Auckland, and we are having Moroccan chicken stew. Yeah, I like it. Yeah, sounds good.

41:38Keyzie:That sounds delicious, yeah. Is that going to be on like a bed of couscous, or is it on rice? Maybe a bit of mash, perhaps.

41:44Mike Minogue:She's just replied, none of those things. Jase, that sounds horrible. Doesn't specify, but she's pretty adamant that she didn't like those suggestions. Right, okay.

41:52Keyzie:Well, I mean, I'm a man of a certain, you know, I've got a bit of cuisine kind of acumen, so maybe it's a bit beyond here. 100%. Where is Moroccan-style food from? Morocco. Oh, damn it.

42:04Jason Hoyte:Thought I'd get in with that. Nice, man.

42:05Mike Minogue:God, you're well-travelled. G'day, guys.

42:08Keyzie:You simply must go there one day, Kesey.

42:09Jason Hoyte:Morocco.

42:10Mike Minogue:Yes. G'day, guys. Laura here.

42:13Keyzie:Ingram.

42:14Jason Hoyte:I was going to say Dunham, but that's...

42:16Mike Minogue:That's all G. Laura Ingram here, texting in from Invercargill. Mum's cooking, woohoo. That's it. What? They didn't specify a meal? No, but just mum's cooking tonight, which is great.

42:29Keyzie:That's always nice, yeah. I love going home to it, yeah.

42:32Jason Hoyte:Yeah, I miss my mum's cooking.

42:33Keyzie:Can you block that person, please? Laura Ingram? Yes. I don't want my time wasted. Right, okay. But give her the 50 bucks, though. No. No, we're not giving her the prize and then blocking her.

42:45Mike Minogue:Jase. You're out of control, man. You're out of control, man. No, but you're cool, though. G'day guys, Carl here Carl Cox Urbane It's Carl Cox Who is that? 43:20Keyzie:Yeah look I've never done the curried sausage I've never been a big fan of it And I'm disgusted The fact that they're doing that with no mash I'll do the deviled sausages Sure But it's got to have mash And I can tell you what you can do with your veggie surprise What?

43:38Jason Hoyte:Do you want me to block them as well? Yes please And give them the 50 bucks as well? Totally No G'day guys Rach here

43:47Mike Minogue:Rach Wise

43:52Rachel Hunter.

43:53Mike Minogue:That's Rachel Wise. G'day, guys. Rachel Wise here from Tauranga. Who is that, by the way? Rachel Wise. She's probably a DJ or an actress.

44:02Jason Hoyte:She's a very famous actress. I've never heard of her. Jase, have you ever heard of her? No. Yes, it's W-E-I-S-Z. Oh, yes. Yeah, thank you.

44:08Mike Minogue:What's she in? Don't know. Trick question. She's in Tauranga. We're having nachos tonight. Yummy.

44:15Keyzie:Yeah, I don't mind a good bit of nachos. Just a bit, though. It's really interesting because my wife hates nachos, but every time I make them, she clears the plate. Right, but she hates them. But she hates them. Is she racist? Well, not at all. Right, okay. She's certainly not on the pug level. Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. The pug level of racism.

44:36Mike Minogue:Pugs level. Here's a question. Gun to your head, you're at a bar, and you get to choose between loaded wedges or nachos. What are you taking? Nachos. Nachos. See, I'm wedges as well with sour cream, cheese, sweet chili sauce, beautiful bacon. Yeah, I agree. I'm not a fan of anything loaded. Right, okay. All right. One last one, fellas. What do you think? Sure, I'm king. G'day, guys. Christine here. Aguilera. Yeah, Christine Aguilera. Spicy pork nachos with guac and sour cream. So she's having pork nachos with pork mince. You'd be all over there, wouldn't you? Shit, yeah. Old Keezy. She sounds hot.

45:17Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

45:23Keyzie:The Beastie Boys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Now, we did something at the start of the show, which we haven't done for a little while, which is the Big Show Big Pole, fellas.

45:35Jason Hoyte:The Big Pole.

45:44Mike Minogue:Today's big poll, Jase, was, is pugs racist, yes or no? Now, this is a question that a lot of people have been wondering for a long time. Yes, really? Totally. And if you'd like to have your say, you go to the Hauraki Big Show's Instagram there, and on the story you can vote. The reason being is that we've noticed an influx of pugs sending us the same reel with this woman singing.

46:16Jason Hoyte:Beautiful voice.

46:18Keyzie:Great compasso.

46:19Mike Minogue:I don't know what she's singing about, but it sounds lovely. Yes, it does. The thing is, Pugs sends, he's sent this how many times to you?

46:25Keyzie:That was the 14th time.

46:27Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Yes. He's sent it to me about 10 times, four of which were today. And he's cracking up while he's doing it.

46:34Keyzie:Yeah, he's got a little laugh emoji next to it as well.

46:37Jason Hoyte:Did you guys give any thought to replying to any of them? And then maybe it would stop? Maybe if you responded.

46:43Keyzie:Well, I was a bit too shocked, to be honest. And it's one of those really awkward situations where a fella who you consider a mate has really stepped over the line. It's like Mogi sending his filth. Oh, yeah. I don't even open his reels now that he sends me. I've blocked him.

47:01Mike Minogue:Yeah, same. And Pugs, I don't want to get there with you, but the issue we've got here, and as people texted earlier on the show on 3483, It's also quite ageist because she's an old woman And also sexist because it's a woman So Pugs is really flirting with some dangerous sort of areas

47:16Jason Hoyte:I don't think we need to get bogged down in that The poll is am I racist? Am I ageist or sexist? You're running the gamut really You are running the gamut Pugs

47:23Mike Minogue:The gamut It's a type of bird I believe That's a gamut Oh is it? Yeah Would you like to know the result of the poll? Jase

47:30Keyzie:I feel like I already know what it is

47:34Mike Minogue:Unfortunately so do I In your heart of hearts Yes. And Pugs, I think you know as well because you know you better than anyone. Totally. And you know what you're like. And once again, let me just remind you, this is a binding referendum. No, it's not. Well, okay, tell that to all the people who are convinced that my ears are on the piss. Yeah, but that's different. Nah. When we do a vote on the big show, it's a binding referendum. Absolutely. Jase, do you want to predict what it is? Out of 100? 80 % yes. Incorrect. 90 % yes. Pugs, is Pugs racist? 90 % of our audience say yes.

48:07Keyzie:That is one of the most emphatic poll results we've ever had.

48:12Mike Minogue:And also, for legal reasons, we have to say there is about a 10 % margin of error. So, with that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if it's 100%. Yeah. Because you figure the people that have accidentally clicked no by accident. Wait, what?

48:23Jason Hoyte:No, but it would probably be 80.

48:25Mike Minogue:What are you talking about? Or even less. Sure, man, whatever you need to... I'll tell you what, pugs, all right, here's what's happened. The audience has confirmed that you are massively racist. So you feel free right now to just take some time to try and talk your way out of this situation.

48:43Mike Minogue:Just making a list. It's just terrible, isn't it?

48:46Jason Hoyte:Look at him cracking up at it. He does think it's funny. I really like it. I think it's really endearing. It's really sweet. And, you know, that lady's a darling, and she needs to be treasured and appreciated for the content she's putting out there, man. What's her name? I think it's Muye Cha. I think that's the handle, yeah. What is it? Muye Cha? Something like that, yeah. Something like that. See? Well, I hope I didn't get it wrong. I wouldn't want to be wrong. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

49:13Keyzie:Arctic Monkeys here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening.

49:18Mike Minogue:Hey, fellas, this weekend the Warriors are taking on the Dolphins, right? Mm-hmm. That game is on Saturday night. And I have been asked by Betcher to run another pot.

49:29Keyzie:God, they never learn, do they?

49:31Mike Minogue:Yeah. Now, if you don't know what a pot is, basically you download the Betcher app, you sign up there, and you join the pot by going to, on the main page there, you go to BetSocial, you go to MyMates, join pot, and you type in the code BACKBONE. Boom, you're in the Hodaki Potheads pot. That is run by me. Any money you put in there will go towards the grand total, and I will then be placing bets on the Warriors game. and then if they come in, everyone gets whatever money they put in, comes back to them in terms of, depending on what the odds of the bet was.

50:06Keyzie:Can I just remind the people on that front, by the way, that you did that the last time. What was it? You lost$1 ,500 every cent that people put in. Not one single prediction came right.

50:19Mike Minogue:It was the game where the Warriors took on the Tigers. Everyone was convinced the Warriors would wipe the floor with the Tigers. The Tigers smoked us at home. I lost everyone's money.

50:28Jason Hoyte:It was all gone. There was nothing left. I've been waiting to hear about this because I knew that it was going to happen while I was away, and I'm very excited to hear that it all went tits up.

50:36Keyzie:Oh, it's hilarious. Tits up, all right. He made about 12 or 15 bets. Not a lie, pugs. Well, it was about eight. Not one of them came through.

50:46Mike Minogue:100%, they didn't come through. And the thing is, right, you're on there. What you're essentially doing is signing up to have a direct line to me, and it is full of abuse. well afterwards certainly it's full of suggestions and then I follow those suggestions and then it's full of abuse when the suggestions didn't work and old Keezy gets painted as like some idiot you know which everyone knows isn't the case right fellas this one's different though because we're taking on the dolphins Saturday night and if you go in there and I believe it's already up over 300 bucks people are already in the group chat chirping me which is bloody good to see and I'm going to be so sensible with these bets I place.

51:30Mike Minogue:Like really boring. The worst bets ever. People will not regret, but I cannot come out of this having won no money again. But yeah, are they going to win? I guess is the main thing. I have no idea. I mean, at the end of the day, that's up to the Warriors. By the way, my name in the group chat is meetpattynips69. That's good stuff. I've just put in the group chat, let's get rich, fellas. That's been thumbsed up seven times. someone's commented underneath that Bet shit Chris so literally it is just a license to jump in there have a crack I believe I'll shut it off just before the game I think it's 8 o 'clock Saturday night the game and then I'm going to play some bets and I'm 1500 bucks in the hole currently I have to crawl my way out of that so if you want to join it as I said get the Betcher app there go across to Bet Social my mates, join Pot, type in Backbone and all new customers get$100 bonus cash when you sign up and deposit 50 bucks.

52:27Mike Minogue:R18 though, bet responsibly. Don't bet what you don't have, all right?

52:32Jason Hoyte:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

52:45Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted. Don't forget, we'll be down and done as tomorrow for the live show. So if you're in the area, Emerson's. Emerson's Brewery. Brewery, come down and say g'day.

52:56Mike Minogue:Fortal 7, Jase. I'd recommend getting there earlier than that. Last time we were there, from about three onwards, she was starting to pack out.

53:02Jason Hoyte:And the first 100 through the door, do get a backbone shirt. They reached capacity last time too, so people were waiting outside to get in. That's right, man. That's an indicator that you need to get there.

53:11Keyzie:Hey, Pugsun, what's the podcast outro clip today?

53:14Jason Hoyte:The clip today is about a gift that I brought you back from Vietnam.

53:17Keyzie:Get in, get in, get in. Pug Son bought us some chopsticks and a little spoon. You guys are so f***ing grateful. Vietnam. No, my wife was very grateful. Can I just say? Your wife was. Yeah, she said. Can I just say, I loved it. I said, yeah, it's pretty f***ing half-ass, but, you know. Yeah, you should have gotten two pairs, eh? One for you and for your wife.

53:36Mike Minogue:Hang on. Why don't you bring us back from Vietnam? Excuse me, Keezy.

53:39Keyzie:A bucket load of great stories.

53:43Mike Minogue:I don't think he brought us back in.

53:44Keyzie:You didn't bring one great story. Your stories were all shit. That was so good, man. Hey, Keezy, what's for dinner tonight?

53:52Mike Minogue:I'm not sure. My wife's got squashed tonight. Oh, yeah. And when I left the house, I was like, oh, do you want me to cook dinner then? And then she said, oh, I'll see. But I haven't heard anything.

54:01Keyzie:So it's going to be a bachelor meal for you? I don't know. Maybe I'll get home. Maybe a pizza?

54:05Mike Minogue:Maybe.

54:07Keyzie:Those noodles that she didn't let you have for lunch, maybe.

54:09Mike Minogue:I'm going to have those. Oh, no, tomorrow we're in Dunedin. I'm going to have those on Thursday. Cool. Don't worry. What are you having tonight, Pugs?

54:17Jason Hoyte:I was going to, so basically, my partner is unwell at home at the moment, and so I'm taking her back some spag bowl that she was going to have for lunch that I made. So that's her dinner, and then I'm going out for dinner with a pal around the corner. Just abandoning her. Just letting her just lie in her own filth. Hacking her lungs out.

54:36Mike Minogue:When your wife's sick, Jase, you're at home with her, tending to her, right?

54:40Keyzie:Totally, man, with the flannel and all that sort of stuff.

54:43Jason Hoyte:Mopping her brow. Do you want me to go over and look after her? I just sort of trust her independence as a person. I don't really feel like I have to hover over her because I'm the man of the house, which is what you were saying off air.

54:53Mike Minogue:Pack your flannel, mate. Yeah, I will, mate. Head over to Post Arts.

54:55Jason Hoyte:Anyway, so I'm going to the local bistro sort of joint, have a beer, have some chill dinner, you know.

55:00Mike Minogue:Good stuff. Well, I hope you've enjoyed the show, New Zealand. Oh, well, what about me?

55:03Jason Hoyte:Yeah. Nah, just joking, Jess. You're all good, man.

55:05Keyzie:What are you up to, man? I'm meeting my wife for dinner, having Japanese tonight. She's found a great ramen place. Yum. at the top of Queen Street there, so I'll be meeting her there for a bit of ramen action.

55:17Mike Minogue:And then will you both go over and flannel Pugs' partner?

55:20Keyzie:No, just me. Okay, that's good.

55:21Mike Minogue:She'd like that. Yeah, totally, man. Why wouldn't she? I'm a stud. So good. Hey, Dunedin, see you tomorrow. Yeah. Emerson's Brewery, 4pm. See you there. Bye!

55:42Thank you.
