1:24Mike Minogue:Bad dog I've noticed that things are slightly changing. Cannot wait for daylight savings. Yeah, man. Because, of course, that means I can have my famous after-dinner walk with my wife. Oh, yeah. After the show. Yeah.

1:35Keyzie:Because you get a bit spooked in the dark, eh? It's a bit spooky.

1:38Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's right, Jase. I get spooked. Yeah, yeah. So as soon as that sun goes down, I am indoors. Yes, well, as you should be.

1:45Keyzie:It's bloody rough out west.

1:46Mike Minogue:Fast asleep with my nightlight on. Jase, how are you today, man?

1:49Keyzie:Yeah, I'm good, thanks, fellas. I can't complain. I'm feeling tickety-boo. Oh, that's great news, man. Yeah, thanks, man. I'll tell you what, though. Yes? I am excited about this show.

2:03What's happening on the big show with Old Mogey? That's me. I'm Old Mogey. Yes. That's what they call me. Last two days to get yourselves in the draw for Would You Rather, that is the opportunity to either go to Mount Panorama, the home of Bathurst, or to the grand final in Sydney. We're drawing that Monday morning, fellas. We're doing the breakfast show tomorrow, Friday, and Mundi there. Bloody exciting stuff. Outside of that, after 5 o 'clock, Joel Little, the famous Joel Little, producer for Lorde, for example, and Taylor Swift and all sorts of other people, but also the frontman, singer-songwriter for the incredible groundbreaking band Goodnight Nurse, Keezy.

2:43Would have been one of your most influential Kiwi bands, I'd imagine.

2:46Mike Minogue:100%, man. I just couldn't get over how groundbreaking they were. They're groundbreaking, man. I was all about groundbreaking. Good stuff. And up next, old Keezy over here. He's been worried, man. He's been worried. He started packing his house. He's got to move out of home. You need a bit of advice there, brother. Yeah, I can help you with that. Just what to keep, what to give away. How not to be overwhelmed by the whole thing. Yeah, sure. Can help you there, man. Here's the darkness. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

3:14Keyzie:Radio head there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is wait for it. Wait for it. Wait for it. 4.13.

3:23Mike Minogue:Good stuff. Fellas, I'm moving out of my house, man. Yeah, man. So I've got until the end of next month to get out of my joint, buying a new place. Nothing's popped up yet.

3:33Keyzie:Yeah.

3:33Mike Minogue:But we've sold. So I have to get out. Yes. And even though I've got nowhere to go to, I'm just going to start packing my stuff. Because I'm also going on a holiday in a few weeks' time for two weeks to Japan, which is kind of really badly timed. Right. So I've got to, like, pack the house, go on holiday, come back, like pack the house, have nowhere to go. You're very stressed out, aren't you? It's all coming down on top of you at the same time. When it rains, it pours, man. Have you heard that? Have you ever tried squeezing balls, stress balls? It's not so much the how to deal with stress thing I need help with.

4:06Mike Minogue:Right. I've never tried that. No, I've never done it. You should.

4:08Keyzie:They do say buying and selling a house is one of the more stressful things you can do.

4:14Mike Minogue:100%. And it's like really rewarding and really great. I thought it was moving.

4:18Keyzie:That as well. Right. I'm doing that as well.

4:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah.

4:21Keyzie:Moving somewhere. Yeah. Look, Kesey, look, I can relate having just moved, well, you know, at the beginning of the year we moved after 27 years in the same joint with four girls that we brought up there. You can imagine the piles of shit everywhere.

4:41Mike Minogue:100%. Useless garbage.

4:43Keyzie:Garbage. And I'll tell you, in terms of packing up your house, because Mogie's a pro at this, but we weren't. The phrase I used most often while we were doing that was burn it.

4:56Mike Minogue:Burn it. I would have thought the phrase you used most often would have been a swear word. Yeah, it was effing and effing.

5:02Keyzie:And then burn it. So we had a big fire pit. You just burn everything. Yeah, I dug a massive hole in the backyard and we just burnt it.

5:11Mike Minogue:But you can't burn everything. Like, for example, we've got an ottoman.

5:14Keyzie:They'll burn.

5:16Mike Minogue:That I need to get rid of. We've got a single bed we don't really need.

5:20Keyzie:Oh, actually.

5:22Mike Minogue:Which we're probably going to sell, you know. I was thinking sell. Oh, yeah. I've got a brazier I don't want. Do braziers burn?

5:31Keyzie:Well, not very well. No. Have you considered a garage sale at Keezy's?

5:38Mike Minogue:I don't really want to. No, I don't want to do a garage sale. You should, man. They're great guns. We can organise it for you or promote it through the Haraki Big Show social. Totally, man. We'll do that for you. We want to take some of the load off, Keezy. Look, it's - A Keezy garage sale. And your house is going to be empty for a couple of weeks, is it? No. My mum's coming to stay for two weeks. Oh, I thought your bodybuilder jiu-jitsu mate was staying there. Oh, yeah, that's my mum. Look, and Jase, I appreciate you and Mogi stepping up to help take my load, but I want to be honest, I don't really want the Hodaki audience to be around at my house going through old Keezy stuff.

6:14Mike Minogue:Oh, you hate them. I always forget about that.

6:16Keyzie:For me, it's two birds, one stone.

6:18Mike Minogue:Right.

6:19Keyzie:You get rid of stuff and you make a bit of money on the side.

Read the full transcript

6:23Mike Minogue:But I don't have the stuff I've got to get rid of. There's a few things that I'll sell.

6:26Keyzie:Oh, look, anything you put out there, I think people are going to snap up. If working with Jase has taught you anything, I would have hoped it would be that people will buy any old shit. Exactly.

6:37Mike Minogue:Yeah, but actually, what's the name of that auction website you use? Maybe I'll put all my stuff on there.

6:42Keyzie:It's not quality enough, I'm afraid. What, for that website? It's more of a garage sale type setup. But I think that'd be great. Mogi and I could set up a little lemonade stand. Right, okay. Yeah, I mean, I can help you. Whichever way you want to go, Keezer, your moving and your approach to it, it's a state of mind. My wife and I have been together for 10 years. We've probably lived in 30-plus properties, I would say. Wow. That's crazy. With absolutely no word of a lie. My daughter is seven years old. She's lived in, I would say, eight properties now, and this is the most settled we've ever been in our lives.

7:18That's crazy. Everything about it is easy. There's nothing to worry about. You're going to be fine, and I can give you any kind of advice you need, mate, any kind of advice you need. Because the thing is, if it gets too hard, you can just walk out the door with the clothes on your back and just forget about it. What? Just leave it. Is that an option? Just forget about it. Just walk into the ocean and never look back.

7:39Keyzie:Really? And I can go around there and burn it. I'll do that for you, Keezy.

7:46Mike Minogue:Thanks, man. It's good stuff. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. One simple question. One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather?

8:03Keyzie:Yes, indeed was. or cars, you decide. We're getting down to the pointy end of the competition. We're going to be announcing the winner for that, by the way, on the breakfast show on Monday. And we'll be doing that show because we're going to be doing breakfast tomorrow, Friday and Monday, fellas. You excited? Frothing it.

8:20Mike Minogue:Yeah. Frothing it. Fizzed. Big shout out to boystrip.co.nz. Both of these trips, depending on which one you win, will be provided by them. They handle everything, flights, accommodation, shuttles, blah, blah, blah. There's lots of good stuff. All that jazz.

8:33Keyzie:Or the admin, if you will. It's marginally stressful, isn't it? Because with doing breakfast on Monday, we've got the wires on your Sunday night. And if we win, it's going to be a huge run. We're just going to have to come straight in. That's a bloody good call, actually, Moggy. Really good call. G'day, Sean.

8:48Mike Minogue:Oh, we're going to Sean over you.

8:49Keyzie:Yeah, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, thanks. That's good, Sean. He had a good day. Yeah, yeah. I've been pretty busy with work, yeah. Yeah, good on you, mate. It's annoying, isn't it? Work always gets in the way of cool stuff, man. What do you do for a crust, by the way?

9:06Mike Minogue:I'm an insurance broker. Oh, backbone! You must have the woman throwing themselves at you, do you, Sean? Not totally, no. Right, okay.

9:16Keyzie:Now tell me, Sean, where are you leaning in terms of this competition? I'd be in the NRL grand final, certainly. Yeah, no, good call, my love. Who would you take with you, Sean? My wife. My wife's pressing super team together, yes. Yeah, nice, mate. Well, you're in the draw. Good luck. Cheers. Thank you very much. Good on you, Sean. Thank you, Sean. Thank you. G'day, Jenna. How's life? Amazing. Oh! Is it? Wow! Says who? Yes. Tell me, why is it so amazing, Jenna?

9:48Mike Minogue:Because I've been trying to ring through for over a week, and I finally got through.

9:52Keyzie:Oh, yeah! Now you're talking. Hello! You got my lotto ticket. Good stuff. Tell me, Jenna, what do you do for a crust?

10:02Mike Minogue:Kindy teacher.

10:03Keyzie:Oh, back bone.

10:05Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, I need a few nights away to go to the NRL Grand Final and get away from kids. How's this winter been for you sickness-wise there, Jenna? It makes the day quieter when they're all the way sick. Yeah, that's great, isn't it?

10:17Keyzie:How good. I've always found kindergartens to be a potpourri of disease, you know what I mean? And filth, which I think is really healthy for kids.

10:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, and parents want to get rid of their own kids,

10:29Keyzie:so they send them to us. Yeah, that's true. That's very true. Where are you leaning, Jenna? Definitely the NRL. Yeah, okay. And who would you take with you? Bestie, Gina. Oh, yeah. Jenna and Gina. Jenna and Gina. Here comes trouble. Yeah, that's trouble. Two mad dogs. Yeah.

10:46Mike Minogue:Jenna, you're in the draw, mate. You hold the line all right? Thank you so much.

10:49Keyzie:You're welcome. Kindy teacher, eh? What? That would be hard, Jacka. And it's true, you know, parents so many times would be like, oh, thank God, dump my kid there, off we go. Well, we went through that transition early on, didn't we? When I started the show here, I had a two-year-old. Yes. A two-year-old. And so there's sort of a competition, Kesey. When you get to the kindy there and your kid's sick and you know your kid is sick, what you're trying to do is get your kid through the gate and get in your car before they can say anything to you. That's the game. Now, my thing is always, if you haven't said anything to me by the time I get to my car, that kid's yours for the day.

11:27I'm not, no takey backsies.

11:29Mike Minogue:Right, okay. You know? That's the sort of game you play. Find his keepers. There was a couple of occasions where they wouldn't take her, so I had to walk along beside the fence and then just launch her over the fence into the playground there. Oh, that's right. And then just keep on walking. Because you taught her how to do the loosey-goosey. You go loosey-goosey and just sort of roll.

11:43Keyzie:Yeah, totally, yeah.

11:44Mike Minogue:Hey, plenty more chances to get yourself in the draw for Would You Rather this week. We're going to be doing a blitz tomorrow morning and Friday on the Brekkie Show as well, but we will be calling the winner Monday. So make sure you've got your phone on you, you're ready to call 0800-HAURAKE, and, of course, you're listening to Radio HAURAKE. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.

12:05Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Blur there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.36 and it was an exciting day today, fellas, with the launch of the Radio Hodaki and ACC mascot.

12:20Mike Minogue:That's right. Celebrating the fact that Black Clash tickets for Christchurch at the beginning of next year are on sale today. Man. Yeah, man. How good. We were like, man, we need to get down there and have a mascot because, you know, it's on TVNZ. They've got a mascot. There's a few other mascots getting in. Yeah.

12:33Keyzie:Well, I'm very passionate. I used to be a mascot. That's how I got into this whole industry. And I'll be honest with you, I was a little bit peaked that I wasn't consulted in terms of, you know, what they were thinking for the mascot or ideas for the mascot. But I've got to be honest with you, fellas, when it came out, I was like, you nailed it. Yeah, absolutely nailed it. The one thing I don't know, because as you say, Jase, we knew nothing about it. I had seen nothing about it until it was announced. I saw it on social media this morning like everybody else did. Has it got a name?

13:05Mike Minogue:Not yet. Oh. So we're going to run some sort of name it, probably competition, the build-up towards the Black Clash there, because, as I said, we need a mascot, a hodaki mascot.

13:15Keyzie:Yeah, totally. And I couldn't be more stoked with what they've come up with. I mean, in terms of, hey, something that represents us as a station. As a radio station. And boom, they nailed it.

13:26Mike Minogue:If you'd like to see some footage or photos of it, check out the Radio Hauraki Facebook page or the Radio Hauraki Instagram. There's some shots up there of the breakfast show guys unveiling it. Jason, you mentioned that you have mascotting experience. You used to work at the Warriors?

13:41Keyzie:Yes, at the Warriors there because I was Wally the Wombat, as I've previously discussed.

13:46Mike Minogue:And so what year was this? I'd say 97, 98. Late 90s? That long ago. Yeah, maybe. 30 years ago, so he would have been nine.

13:57Keyzie:And he was designed, and Mokey talked about this yesterday, interestingly, because what they found is that when the Australian team scored against the Warriors, the crowd went silent. It still happens. It just goes deathly quiet. So they wanted to create a character that, when that happened, could rack up the crowd. So I was, like, basically fresh meat to the ravenous crowd.

14:21Mike Minogue:So you'd be sidelined when they'd score. You'd be, like, jumping for jaw.

14:24Keyzie:I literally be saying, kiss my butt. Back in those days, you must have been exhausted because the opposition was scoring left, right and seat. And this is a true story I will never, ever forget. The first time I did it and the game kicked off and I was fired up. I was pumped up and I was running around the joint and I was exhausted, like absolutely physically shattered because you're inside this big horrendous outfit. And I looked up at the clock in terms of the game clock. It had been going for three minutes.

15:01Mike Minogue:Oh, my God.

15:01Keyzie:And I was like, oh, my God.

15:05Mike Minogue:Far out. So you were more tired than the players were.

15:08Keyzie:But the best thing about it was that I used to get to stand in the stadium with the teams before they came out. In the tunnel. In the tunnel there because I used to have my own little song that I ran out to. Oh, my God. And the big joke was I'd be going, woo, woo, Running out to the middle of the pitch, and then I'd fake a trip and fall over. Oh, man. It was the ultimate slapstick comedy. But, man, I got the crap beaten out of me. I got bins thrown at me. So great. It was just all on for young and old.

15:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, so do you want to do it again?

15:42Keyzie:No, not – I don't think I'd fit that particular –

15:45Mike Minogue:It's quite – I'd love the look of it. I'd be into it. I guess probably what we have to do is – we're going to have to describe this thing. It's a weird set-up, isn't it? Striking. It's a cricket bat. A cricket bat with two balls. Does that sound about right? That's about right. And nothing says Radio Hodaaki like a cricket bat with two balls. 100%. And we're also sharing it with the ACC, is that right? Yeah, yeah, that's right. We're saving money. Once again, if you'd like to see a photo of the Radio Hodaaki Facebook or Instagram. It is pretty cool. It's very good.

16:21Keyzie:If you've seen it, text us 3483 and let us know what you think.

16:26Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

16:31Keyzie:Yes, indeed. ACDC there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. Fellas, let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

16:47Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Well, as already discussed, fellas, off air. Old Mogey had a bath. I was feeling crook last night. I was absolutely positive I was going to get a flu. Positive. Went home, had a bath. I laid in the bath there. I was naked. Oh, yeah. It's the day I was born. Bathe naked. That's weird. I cover myself up with a flannel, obviously. Or I cover my eyes up so I can't see myself. Yeah, okay. Yeah, understandable. Otherwise, I can get carried away, Keasy. And I watched a rugby league podcast, This Warrior's Life, which I enjoy very much, but you probably don't want to hear about that here.

17:24What did you watch, Jase?

17:27Keyzie:God, absolute doozy of a movie. What's it called? Sheena, 1984. Check this out for a plot. When the Zambouli tribe in Africa adopts Sheena, they realise she has telepathic powers. telepathic. So, the queen of the jungle uses her gift to rescue her foster mother, who was wrongly framed for murderer. Can I ask if she can speak to the animals? She can. Yes, I remember this movie. Now, I love myself a bit of, you know, action and adventure. And I'll be honest, I don't mind a bit of nudity. And it had all of those Things in Spades. It was, without question, the most ridiculous movie I've ever seen in my life.

18:26Keyzie:Wow. And Sheena, the main character, basically wears no clothes.

18:32Mike Minogue:Yeah. In essence. Played by Tanya Roberts. Yes.

18:35Keyzie:Old Tanya there. And there's a lot of characters that basically wear no clothes. Yes. Are they all female? Mostly, yes. Okay. So it's just a terrible nudie romp in the desert. Oh, and can I say she rides a zebra.

18:55Mike Minogue:That sounds great. Can I just say for the audience, came out in 1984.

18:59Keyzie:1984.

19:00Mike Minogue:IMDb gives it 4.9 out of 10. And Rotten Tomatoes, 11%. Yeah. Instead of out of 100%. So pretty good.

19:10Keyzie:How many buzzies? Well, plenty. Out of five. Out of five. Look, on that front, I've got to give it five. Five buzzies out of five, really? Yeah. Look, it's a fun, easy to watch romp. Five out of five. Did you watch it solo or with your wife? Solo. Did you watch it all the way to the end? Yes. Bet you did. Well, I just, it was so cool. The zebra.

19:35Mike Minogue:Was it a real zebra or was it a painted horse?

19:37Keyzie:I think it was a painted horse.

19:40Mike Minogue:That's called Sheena. Where'd you watch that?

19:43Keyzie:Samsung TV.

19:45Mike Minogue:God, I've got to get that. Oh, bit of good shit. Why not? The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.

19:57Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your hump day all right. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by ReBurger.

20:05Mike Minogue:Crave-worthy street food freshly made with ReBurger. ReBurger.

20:10Keyzie:Yeah, man. I don't know if I've ever been so excited as I am right now. Yeah? Why is that? Oh, just the news. The news. For Keezy. Yeah.

20:20Mike Minogue:Well, can't you just tell me right now?

20:21Keyzie:Well, no, I don't want to. Just. Can you give him a clue? Dream come true. Oh. Oh. Really? I think so. Yeah, yeah.

20:31Mike Minogue:What is my dream? What would it be? Mogi suggests that he's holding up three fingers, but I don't understand what he means. What would that be? Like a role on TV3 maybe?

20:43Keyzie:Ooh, yeah, well, it could be something like that. Can you tell me next? Well, this is what I mean. I just want to sort of bang through the next couple of songs so we can get into it. Oh, okay. Let's bang through them then. Yeah, okay, good.

20:56Mike Minogue:Bang, bang. Arctic Monkey. More than one, yeah. Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Ho-Lac.

21:09Keyzie:Yeah. Black by Pearl Jam. But we've got some breaking news.

21:19Keyzie:This is Breaking News. Most of you will be aware, and when I say most of you, I mean our listeners, that I'm Keezy's agent. And I'll be honest with you, it hasn't gone well yet. Keezy wants to be an actor. He does. Well, I want anything.

21:37Mike Minogue:Like, you know, I'm a talented TV presenter. You know? I can do voiceovers. Like, oh, hey, it's me. You know, like, I can MC stuff. You can do the first seasons of things. I can do the first season of stuff before getting replaced. Yeah. I've done that twice.

21:51Keyzie:I'd think more pilot for you. But certainly, look. What, flying a plane? No, like, just sort of dummy runs for shows. Oh, right. But you've certainly got some skills, Kesey. Thank you. I don't just have anyone on my books. You know what I'm saying?

22:09Mike Minogue:I'm so excited to wonder if you do have anyone else on your books, if I'm honest.

22:12Keyzie:You know, I can see talent from a mile away. Right. I had to get a bit closer for you, but I believe in you, man.

22:20Mike Minogue:Thanks, man.

22:21Keyzie:And I know it's always been a dream of yours to get on the television.

22:24Mike Minogue:Well, I've worked in television for over a decade.

22:26Keyzie:Yeah, I know. But, you know, like, as you, Keezy.

22:31Mike Minogue:You know what I mean? My name's Chris. Hang on. So you've got me on television as me. So you're saying, because I do Game of Two Halves, for example, I'm being me on that. Crowd goes, well, I used to work there. I was just being me on that.

22:45Keyzie:This is more a reality show, and I know that. Yeah, I know. Oh, my God.

22:51Mike Minogue:TVNZ?

22:52Keyzie:Is it TVNZ? It is TVNZ, yes. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah. I heard they're doing another season of this.

22:58Mike Minogue:Yes. And, you know.

23:00Keyzie:And I've got to be honest with you, Mogi, you'll appreciate this. I can't disclose at this point what it is because of various privacy issues. Okay, yeah. But I'll tell you what got you in in the end. It's the fact that you're a very resourceful fella. You know what I mean? You're a fix-it kind of guy. That's right. You know what I mean?

23:22Mike Minogue:Yes, which if it's the show I'm thinking of, 100 % that does come in handy. Yeah, totally.

23:29Keyzie:And I like to think too you've got a pretty calm demeanour, generally speaking. I mean, you don't get... Unless something's not going your way. Yeah, well, yeah. In which case you lose sleep. And then I fire up. You freak out. And then you, yeah. Sort of panic. Yeah, yeah. Apart from that. Yeah. But no, and it's a reality show that's huge, by the way. Very, very big. As well you would know.

23:50Mike Minogue:Yes, okay, right. So what, when, where, what's...

23:54Keyzie:And the fact that you're resourceful and you're fit and young. Yeah. And you've got a bit of meat in your bones. You know, you're carrying... In my bones. You've got some meat on your bones. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Great. I mean, I don't know how that has anything to do with anything. So all of these things, and you're sort of quirky looking.

24:11Mike Minogue:Okay, so stop listing reasons why now and just tell me.

24:14Keyzie:Well, as I say, I can't really go into the specifics. Okay, how about this? It's something that you've always, well, you've always wanted to do reality television as KC, and this is your opportunity, basically. Right, okay.

24:27Mike Minogue:So when does it start filming?

24:30Keyzie:In about three months time Okay

24:32Mike Minogue:Yes yes Over summer nice

24:33Keyzie:Smart It won't be summer It won't be summer No

24:36Mike Minogue:It will be summer

24:37Keyzie:Not where they're filming this No Oh they're taking it offshore Yes It's very much offshore Way offshore Yeah I think they've done one season here They've done one season here Yeah yeah They've done one season here One season here Yes yeah

24:50Mike Minogue:Okay well we're thinking of different shows then Oh are we So what shows What do I have to do Well this one I think Jase is going to be filmed in a very remote part of Siberia. Yes. Yeah. Bloody cold there. So sort of autumn going into winter, late autumn going into winter. Siberia, right, okay. Yes. It's beautiful in autumn apparently, but bloody cold and freezing in winter. You can get like minus 60, 70. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm in a hotel obviously. But sort of some pretty famous areas. The producers apparently heard, Jase has told me, Jason's told me this off here. Don't you give too much away here, Mogi.

25:29Have you heard of the Road of Bones? The Road of Bones.

25:33Mike Minogue:I think I've seen the... No. Sorry, no. That's where the Russians got sort of political prisoners to build a road that went across a Siberian wasteland. Right. A lot of people died. Right. A lot of people. Pretty much everyone. And so they called it the Road of Bones because it was built on... Yeah, 100 % what's that got to do? I don't understand. Because I'm obviously in a hotel or something and we're shooting.

25:59Keyzie:No, there's no hotels in this show, Keezy. What am I doing? How much do I get paid? Well, you've got to be out in the middle of nowhere. I can't say exactly, but let's just say you're by yourself. Yes. I'm by myself. You're by yourself. And there's no one within Cooey of you. I'm talking like kilometers and kilometers. You've got castmates, but they're nowhere near you. Yes.

26:20Mike Minogue:Right, and are they also by themselves? Yes, very much by themselves.

26:23Keyzie:Can I also say, and this is another thing that was a plus in your favour, actually, you have to do all your own filming and take your own filming equipment and all that sort of stuff. You're sort of a one-man crew. And I said, oh, Keezy can do that. He's a technical win. Piece of piss. On the bright side as well, though, huge prize money, half a million dollars.

26:41Mike Minogue:Right, but that's only if I win. Yeah, only if you're the last man or woman standing. And if I don't, what do I get? Oh. Nothing. Frostbite, probably. Hypothermia. Right, okay. Is the name of the show You could get attacked by bears There's wolves as well How are you with wolves? Have you got energy to dogs? Nah, I'm all G with dogs This isn't It's not alone, is it? Couldn't say Can't tell ya The Hauraki Big Show With Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki

27:18Keyzie:Red Hot Chilli peppers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 5.24.

27:27Mike Minogue:Fellas, the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival is happening again in November. Yeah, boy. Emerson's, the great New Zealanders are going to be there as well, which is bloody exciting. To celebrate the fact, they've got a whole lot of Emerson's hoodies made up and they've given them all to us to dish out to people who are keen to name our beer. They're making a special beer for the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival. It's a tropical hazy pale ale. It just needs a name, guys. Yeah, man. 3483. Text your suggestions. and Pug's going to dish out a few of those hoodies there. Let's name our beer, eh?

27:59Keyzie:I think I'll have myself a beer.

28:04Mike Minogue:The Radio Hodaki Big Show. Name our beer.

28:08Keyzie:I tell you what, those Emerson hoodies are bloody great value, especially when you're down in Dunners because she's a bit chilly down there sometimes and a nice warm hoodie. How good.

28:20Mike Minogue:Totally. They are free. That's good value.

28:22Keyzie:They are free, so that's great value. You don't get better value than free. Yeah, that's true. It is a value for money.

28:27Mike Minogue:3483. Text us your name for the beer. So it's a tropical hazy IPA. Here are some submissions that have come through, fellas. The Mokey J Hazy IPA. So I guess that's all three of us put together. Mokey J, right, okay. Mokey J. Mokey. Oh, Mokey J. No. Nice. Who are the hazy? I like that. I don't mind it. That's up there now. Yes. Or who are the brew? Because that rhymes with mood. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, don't just say yeah. So who did that come from? That sounds like that came from you. I just said that. It's got to come from the listeners. What if I text it in? Yeah, you can have a crack, but you can't win.

29:05No hoodie for Keezy.

29:06Mike Minogue:I'm not allowed a hoodie. Surely if I wanted a hoodie, I'd be allowed to have one. No.

29:10Keyzie:Well, you got those free shirts last night at the do you went to. Yeah, you got your Wolverine shirt. You got your Wolverine shirt for free.

29:16Mike Minogue:Such a weird reference. I did get a Wolverine shirt. Thanks, fellas. Yeah, you did. Hey, tropical, kesey, male, pale, stale, Indian pale ale. Guys, we can't just slam. Well, no, I'm just going to say. It's not our fault if they're terrible, kesey, is it?

29:33Keyzie:Just because you use a lot of words doesn't make it right. Mind you, that one with you on all fours, that was very good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was good.

29:40Mike Minogue:Noise control. Well, it is actually, but it turns the noise up. It does. Noise control. It's not bad. Hazy Midnight Steamers. Are they? Hazy Bastard. Yes. Yes. Yeah, that's pretty good. Hazy Bastard's great. Hoppy Honks. She's a hazy bastard. Hoppy Honks. Nah. Oh. Jack's text through saying, just name it Turi, like the old boat the old Radio Haraki started on. The Tiri. Nah. No, I don't think so. Meat Patty Nip Juice.

30:17Keyzie:Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that Who wants to drink that though? Yeah, but I mean If you didn't know about the show And someone saw that And went meat patty nip juice

30:28Mike Minogue:Can I have a pint of it please? You'd be like

30:30Keyzie:I'm all g's Be salty I'm all g's

30:33Mike Minogue:Shockin' bastard lager Make it at least 6.5 % strength Well, it's a tropical hazy What is it?

30:41Keyzie:Pale ale Yeah, yeah, yeah What was the one we liked? Three Honkers? No, no, no, the one today. Hazy Bath. Hazy Bath. That's up there for number one. That's good, yeah, I think so. At the moment, yes.

30:53Mike Minogue:Keep those things coming, 3483. Name our beer. And if you'd like tickets to the Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival, head to dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz. Shapeshift is going to be there. Troy Kingy, Reb Fountain, Park Road as well. And over 75 beer and food vendors. How good. Up next, Joel Little. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

31:18Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Wednesday night is going off. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.

31:27Mike Minogue:Crab with your street food, freshly made, Reburger.

31:33Keyzie:Burger.

31:34Mike Minogue:I want the rest of that opera.

31:37Keyzie:Yeah, so do I. I'd go and watch that.

31:38Mike Minogue:Pugs. Can you make the rest of that opera, please? Thank you.

31:42Keyzie:Yeah, good stuff, mate. What's on the plate tonight, Moggy? I honestly couldn't tell you, man. Oh, how was your dumpling salad, by the way? The other night, look.

31:52Mike Minogue:Frozen dumplings. Frozen dumpling salad, yeah. It was really good. Yeah, good. Nah, because I know what he's doing here because he got in trouble for dissing it on the air and he's worried. She wasn't happy. He's worried Mrs. Moggy's listening. Look, what a treat it is to have someone cook for you. And you should always be grateful. 100 % mate. I agree, man.

32:13Keyzie:I agree.

32:13Mike Minogue:He said off air it was garbage.

32:15Keyzie:Yeah, he was. I said on air it was garbage, didn't I?

32:19Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, true. But it wasn't. It was really good. Yeah, good stuff. I'm supposed to be making dinner tonight. The big old butter chicken. With my wife's amazing recipe. We had butter chicken the other night, Keezy, can I say. When we were all hung over. Great. And it was delish. We ordered a double butter chicken. How good, man. Yeah, now you're talking. Now you're talking. Now you're talking. That's how hungover I was. I didn't want anything more full on than a butter chip. Mild? I think it may be medium, and that's just about right. Yeah, a couple of them too. Yeah, get them in you. Well, I'm supposed to be making it, but I'm like, oh, by the time I get home and make it, blah, blah, blah, I won't be eating until after eight.

32:59Mike Minogue:And so I've said to my wife, how would you feel if I picked something up? And then she said, you know what? I was just thinking about how nice a pie would be. And so I was like, I'll get a family pie for us. Right. From the supermarket, I guess. I haven't bought a family pie in bloody ages. Yeah. But I was like, yeah, stuff it. Let's do it. Yeah, nice. What a time to be alive. A pie, man. Can you bring in the leftovers tomorrow? No, there won't be any, man. Come on, man. Of course there will be. You can't eat a whole family pie. I mean, your wife will only have, what, a quarter maybe? She'll have an eighth of it.

33:26Yeah.

33:27Mike Minogue:And I'll be eating the rest of the pie. Old seven, eights, they used to call me that.

33:31Keyzie:Jase, what are you having, man? Aubergine pasta. It's actually, it does sound foul, but we've had it before. It's bloody beautiful. What do you put in there? It sounds, it'll be foul. A pretty sort of top and cheesy top. Oh, now we're talking. It's very good. And it's a sort of pasta that's setting the scene for me. You're right, huh? For come dine with me on the weekend because it's top quality.

33:58Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Is it like cracked pepper, you know, a bit of parmesan, whatever? Yes, man. Hey, do you guys... Keezy's just lost. He's just... You know what happens? I'll be honest with you, man. I'm a bit worried about you tomorrow morning. You seem exhausted. You seem gassed now. No, what happened is you mentioned come dine with me and reminded me that I have to cook two massive meals tomorrow and the day after in preparation for Saturday. I think Keezy's going to buckle under the pressure. I do worry. I do worry. Yeah, no, it'll be sweet as, man. Just have a few beersies. Just relax the nerves.

34:32Mike Minogue:Yeah, listen to this. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

34:39Keyzie:The Strokes there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening.

34:43Mike Minogue:Hey, guys. Tomorrow, Friday and Monday, we are hosting breakfast here on Radio Hauraki. Yeah, boy. And with that, I just want to make sure we nail it. Okay, so I'm calling a show meeting.

34:53Keyzie:Show meeting. Show meeting. Show me the meeting. Show meeting is now in progress.

35:02Mike Minogue:And of course, when you have a show meeting, you need everyone from the show here. That's why PugSan's here. Ooh, it's PugSan. Evening, fellas. G'day, Pugs. How are you? Ah, good, man. Thanks for having me. Are you ready for tomorrow, man? Huh? Are you ready for tomorrow? Am I ready for breakfast? For breakfast. Yeah. We're on brekkie tomorrow, man. Do you know that? Okay. Just because when you think about it, fellas, we start at 4 p.m. today, go till 7, and then Literally less than 12 hours later, we are back in here doing a four-hour brekkie show. I just want to make sure that our content is shit hot.

35:36Mike Minogue:We come in here bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and we don't just spend random breaks just sort of discussing admin and shit like that. We've actually got good stuff. Right. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. What have you got? Talk us through what you've got. Let's go, Keezy. Let's go, man. Keezy. Keezy. Keezy. All right. I've been workshopping this idea. It's called What's for Breakfast? What? With me, Keezy.

36:01Keyzie:That sounds good. Yeah, lock it in, man. Lock it in. We'll do that.

36:05Mike Minogue:Sweet.

36:06Keyzie:All right, guys. Thank you. Would you rather? Oh, that's a good idea. Yeah, yeah.

36:11Mike Minogue:We'll put people in the draw for would you rather. That's a good shout, Jase. Yeah, it's really good. But the breakfast show, it's different because you need to be topical. So it's first thing in the morning. We'll get in. What time? Who's going to have the first steamer? Yeah, yeah. Because normally it's a morning sort of a thing.

36:26Keyzie:Actually, could you make a bowel chat? No, don't. Sting pugs? We can't start. Shat chat. Just recycle that old shat chat, Steve. Well, yeah, you could do that. You can't start the morning with shat chat. But listen, the thing that I struggle with breakfast is not that it's early. It's that it affects my bowel movements and when I go and can't go. Cool. So bowel movement chat. Yeah. Put that maybe third. Maybe just bowel chat. Bow chat. Or BM with the big show. And outside of that, I'm not really worried about torpedoing the entire show. No, no. Because as we know, it's not our show. Well, that's right.

37:07We go down there, destroy their show, garbage, people changing channels left, right and centre. Who are these clowns? Never shall they return. Yes. Back to drive on Tuesday there, backbone, backbone, hashtag backbone.

37:21Mike Minogue:The thing is, Mogi, I don't know if you know this, but the brekkie show is the pinnacle of our station. Yes. Like we are bottom feeders. You know, it's all about the breaking show. So if we're giving this opportunity, this is our chance. You know, if we do a good job here, you never know what we could move on to next. They might hear, like the bosses might hear us and be like, hey, do you guys want to do the ZM Night Show? Because the spots are...

37:46Mike Minogue:Sorry, because the spots are...

37:51Mike Minogue:Okay, see you tomorrow. So close. See you tomorrow. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

38:01Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Rage against the machine there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. And that's appropriate. There's a lot of rage going on at the moment. I should tell people, actually, in all fairness, we've got a new system running at the moment. And Keezy's learning as we go, which is not easy when you're doing live radio. It's good. So it's what Keezy uses to operate all the ads, the music, the timings of everything. It's called Of The Down, isn't it, Keezy? And that's just started kicking in today. Yeah, new system.

38:32Mike Minogue:System Of The Down. It's good stuff, fellas. The issue is, like, not only am I here running all the admin trying to run this new thing. Like, for example, I'm about to bang on about Big Deck Energy. Well, you shouldn't have to do that as well as operate all that. Well, you'd think that maybe one of you guys would do it. I know. Well, I tell you what.

38:50Keyzie:I'm very happy to bang on about Big Deck Energy. I don't feel like it's banging on. I feel like it's celebrating something quite special near and dear to my eyes. This is good stuff, fellas.

39:00Mike Minogue:This is exactly what they want. We've teamed up with Trade Tested once again. So the way Big Deck Energy works is you go to tradetested.co.nz, put together a shopping list up to$2 ,500. Up to two. And Jase is doing funny stuff with his hair and trying to make me laugh and interrupt the break. and I'm not going to let it happen. Yeah, good on you, Keezy. What was I saying?

39:23Keyzie:Up to$2 ,000. Up to$2 ,500.

39:26Mike Minogue:That's right. So tradetesting.co.nz, put together a shopping list, up to$2 ,500. Then go to hodaki.co.nz, screenshot your shopping list, put it there. A few people have started doing it, fellas. Yes. When I say a few, I mean hundreds. Thousands. So one person here has gone for a Savannah Modular Outdoor Corner Suite. Oh, how good. For$1 ,400 a nice outdoor suite. Yeah, I love those. Do you know why they call them a sweet? Why's that? I don't know. Oh. It's just a weird word. Because they're sweet? Nah, different sweet. They've also added a Royal Gourmet Gas Barbecue Five Burner.

39:59Keyzie:Now you're talking.

40:00Mike Minogue:And a long - Five burners? That's right, Mogi. Five burners. Yeah, good. That's what you want. And they've also got a Longhorn Pizza Oven Gas Fire. Now you're talking.

40:11Keyzie:Just imagine this. Can you just calm down? I'm just picturing people, right? They're sitting in their lounge, Mogi. Yeah, they are. And they're looking at their ratty arsehole deck. Yeah. You know what I mean? They're going, you know what? Shitter. Summer's on its way. Let's zhuzh it up a bit. 100%. And then you think to yourself, oh, hang on a minute. I'm broke. That's right. And you're like, oh, bugger this. I'm going to cheer myself up by listening to a little bit of Radio Horaki. Next thing you know, an ad comes on. Yes. Trade tested, two and a half grand's worth of outdoor furniture. Get it in you.

40:40Well, this person's done just that. But then you're thinking to yourself, well, how do I do that? I mean, how do I enter?

40:44Mike Minogue:And then old Keezy Towsy, the admin, while also learning the new system. Old admin boy wheels out the admin. This person here has got some festoon lights. Oh, I love those.

40:57Keyzie:I tell you what, I've got those. I'm running those little candle lights at the moment. You know, the little ones, what are they called, tea lights? Tea lights, yeah. And my wife, much to her credit because she hates my candles, bought me little tea light holders, glass ones. Shit, that's a good yarn. Thanks, man. But festoon lights are good They really zhuzh up Especially on a nice warm evening They'll zhuzh Yes They're a massive zhuzh Yes totally

41:20Mike Minogue:This person speaking of zhuzhing They've got a bamboo privacy screen A whole lot of it A thousand bucks worth Oh yeah What are they up to?

41:28Keyzie:That's sort of like a sicko Yeah that's more sort of deduzhing

41:31Mike Minogue:Well with the festoon lights And the privacy screen Yeah yeah

41:35Keyzie:What's going on there? Hello Hello

41:38Mike Minogue:If you want to do it Head to tradetester.co.nz Put together a shopping list Then head to hodaki.co.nz and submit it there. Make your debt great again with Trade Tested. Good stuff. Queens of the Stone Age? Yes. The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

41:58Keyzie:The Pixies there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday evening. Fellas, let's give out some advice. Be pretty nips 69.

42:11Mike Minogue:at gmail.com. Get in touch with the fellas. That's right, me, Paddy Knips, 69 at gmail.com. A real email address if you ever need advice on anything, genuine advice, get in touch. You can get yourself a$50 Reburger voucher. And I must reiterate, Reburger is always a delicious option, fellas. Yes. The reason I say that is because this question is food-related.

42:33Keyzie:Why 69 in the email address?

42:36Mike Minogue:The audience chose it. Oh, okay. I don't know why. Okay, no, that's cool. It's all G. G'day there, fellas. Anonymous here. I'm coming to the big smoke of Auckland from down south, and I would love some hot pot advice, especially from Honka J. I've never had a hot pot, and listening to the fellas, I've found myself wanting to experience a hot pot. I do not want a three-times Keezy midnight steamer situation, however. Just an introduction. Cheers.

43:06Keyzie:It's always fun. I love it when people come up from up south. From up south, yeah. From down south.

43:11Mike Minogue:Oh, you mean up north.

43:13Keyzie:Down north. To the big smoke and the oar in their eyes. I know. And they go. All the possibilities. It's like two-storey buildings. Yeah, exactly. And there's like cars. Yeah. Doosh, doosh. And trains. They're just, anyone's lining up to get their photo with a sky tower, et cetera, et cetera. Yeah, yeah. Or Cully Tartans. Cully Tartans. The amount of farmers, you know, they've got that viewing platform up there. Yes, at the Sky City. The amount of farmers I've seen crawling around on their hands and knees because they're terrified they're going to fall off the Sky Tower. I wish I had a dollar for every time.

43:46Keyzie:I remember once a mate came up from down south, and he'd never been to the Big Smoke and stuff, and I took him to Mission Bay. He'd never seen the water before. No. Oh, wow. And he was just, he was almost having a panic attack because he was so overwhelmed by the beauty of the ocean. All he'd seen before was a trough.

44:07Mike Minogue:Yes. Oh, wow. So he's like, so let me get this straight. This is like a really big trough.

44:12Keyzie:Well, no, it's just the trough you have in the paddock there. No, no, no. He thought. The ocean. He thought the ocean was a trough.

44:18Mike Minogue:Far out. Was he like, man, how big is the cow that drinks out of this? Yeah, yeah, totally. Anyway, hot pot advice for a first timer. Just get in there and do it. But hang on. Yeah. Jase, can you explain what is in a hot pot? Whatever you want. To be honest. No, but when I went and had my first one. You say that with knowledge, Chase. You're saying whatever you want, knowing all the things that there are. I'd never heard of a hot pot until about a year ago. Neither had I. And when I went and had it, I was like, oh, okay, so this is what it is.

44:46Keyzie:Yeah. So what is it? It's just literally two walls of ingredients of all sorts of different stuff, vegetables, meats, seafood, whatever tickles your fancy, eggs, tofu. And you go along with a bowl. you chuck in what tickles your fancy.

45:03Mike Minogue:Yes. And don't be put off by the weird stuff, because there is weird stuff.

45:07Keyzie:There is some weird stuff, but that's all good. You take it to the counter, and they have a series of broths that you can get it cooked in. Or you can have it dry and not have it cooked in a broth.

45:17Mike Minogue:But ask for the house broth.

45:19Keyzie:House broth, depending on your spice level, one, two, or three, or just one, if you don't like it too spicy. So one, two, or three? One, two, or three. They go and cook it for you. It takes about five, ten minutes. Well, not even that, really. And then they go, ding, ding, ding, here's your thing, and then you go and eat it.

45:35Mike Minogue:See, this is some advice, though, that I would have liked on my first time, Jase, is go and get yourself some chopsticks and a spoon while you're waiting for it. Set it all up. Grab a jug of water and a cup because you're going to need it and just set up yourself a nice little base and remove any warm clothing because it's going to be hot.

45:51Keyzie:And they have a lot of condiments, too, your coriander, your garlic. To be honest, I haven't bothered with any of that. Funny with the garlic, isn't it? You just put clumps of minced garlic into stuff. I've never really quite got that. No, chilli oil's not where you need it. I love garlic, but not just like a teaspoon of raw garlic. Yeah, but once you chuck it in there, because it's bloody hot,

46:10Mike Minogue:it just all cooks up. And I'd say farmer, coming up to the big smoke, probably go mild, because it's going to be hotter than your average spicy level anyway, I'd say. And noodles, put noodles in there.

46:21Keyzie:Look, it's not meat and three veg. No. You know what I mean? with your boiled spuds and your mutton and your cauliflower. He cooked a bejesus out of it.

46:31Mike Minogue:And if you want to know where to go, message the Hauraki Big Show Instagram or me directly and I'll tell you the name of the hot pot restaurant in downtown Auckland. Good on you, mate. But I highly recommend Reeburger. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

46:54Keyzie:Well there you go you mad bastards That's a big show Dull and dusted For your Wednesday evening

47:02Mike Minogue:Hoody J's giving himself an emo fringe And he thinks it's really neat He does doesn't he He's in a silly mood

47:09Keyzie:What's our podcast called again fellas He is at 6 o 'clock in the morning Exactly Exactly. Well, no, I think it's because I'm realising that's what's happening tomorrow and I've lost my mind slightly. The disclaimer is what it's called. Yes. What's the clip today, Keezy?

47:24Mike Minogue:Today's clip is called Escape, and the podcast comes out at 7.30 tonight. She'd be fuming if she heard this. So she slowly makes her way down and out of the bed, whereas you... No, not out of the bed. She's got a bag packed by the door. Yeah, yeah. She's just trying to get out.

47:41Keyzie:I wake up at like three in the morning and I put my... oh, and she's way down the door like this. And I'll go, hey! Hey, where are you going? Get back. There was a bit of sleep chat today, wasn't it, fellas, how we all sort of like to nestle in?

47:57Mike Minogue:Well, it was just you, really, wasn't it?

47:58Keyzie:Don't you guys like to nestle in? I do, but I tire of it quite quickly. Same. Because my wife's body heat is really high. It's too hot. I can't deal with it. So I like the idea of it, and then I roll away.

48:11Mike Minogue:So you're saying your wife's too hot for you? No, no, I would never say that, Keezy. I mean, I know a lot of people who think of it.

48:18Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. My wife finds the same with me. I run a high temperature in bed there, Moggy. Do you? Yes, I do.

48:25Mike Minogue:So you're saying you're too hot for your wife?

48:28Keyzie:Yes. Your plans for the evening, please, given that you've got breakfast in the morning, Moggy. It's going to be go home, have a delicious dinner, and I might read a book. I don't know, man. I feel like I've got to watch something because I don't feel like I've been contributing to what's on the TV with me, Moggy, lately. Watch a docker or something. It's just been the same old thing. So I'll see what there is there. Suffice to say, Jase, the only thing on my mind is getting a great night's rest in preparation for tomorrow morning's show. Yeah, good on you, mate.

48:58Mike Minogue:We should remind, if you haven't heard, big show on Brekkie tomorrow, Friday, Monday as well. Friday, Monday. God.

49:05Keyzie:What about you, Keezy? What are your plans?

49:07Mike Minogue:I'm going to go home, pick up a family pie because it's my turn to cook. I hope you don't get some kind of a weird sort of food poisoning or something. Frozen pie when you chuck that in the oven, not good? No, it won't be frozen. Oh, good. You can get once in the cooler.

49:23Keyzie:There's nothing worse than digging into a family pie, and right in the middle it's freezing cold.

49:28Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's right. So I'll try and avoid that, fellas. And get an early night tonight. I want to be in bed, 9 p.m. at the latest. Yeah. You know, and it still won't be enough sleep. It's still got eight hours, yeah. Hey, Jase, what are you doing? Actually, I was just going to say, Kiz, what time are you going to get up? But why don't we save that? Save it for tomorrow morning. That's good content. People love it. What are you doing tonight, Jase? Actually, why don't you save it and tell us what you got up to tonight, tomorrow morning? Now you're talking. Good idea. See you then.
