0:30Mike Minogue:Crave-worthy street food freshly made with re-burg-ya. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
0:35Keyzie:Speaking of which, I was loving your new slacks today, Mogie. Of course, we were talking last week about, you know, you've had a bit of a wardrobe upgrade and looking sharp and hot as ever, mate. How's life? Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. I love it when you come in and you've got something new on. Yes. And you know nobody's going to say anything until the microphone's a flick time. You can absolutely guarantee that. Yeah, I had a ripper of a weekend. Went down to Taupo. Yeah, nice. Or as you call it, Jay's Taupo. Yeah. Same joint. Big bit of water down there. Went to a wedding.
1:12Bloody beautiful. Be cracking into a bit of wedding chat later on, fellas. Love me some wedding chat. How are you going, Keezy?
1:18Mike Minogue:I'm actually going really good, fellas. I was a wee bit spaced out earlier, but we've done the podcast outro. Yes. Which warms me up and gets the old brain working.
1:25Keyzie:Maybe grounded you a little bit.
1:27Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, grounded me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:30Keyzie:Hey, I'm liking that shirt you're wearing today, by the way. Cheers.
1:34Mike Minogue:No, look, just relax. No, I'm not relaxed. I'm tensed up. Well, no, you said you weren't going to say it, so don't. Okay. Well, no, hang on. What were you going to say? No, I'm not going to say anything. He was going to say that you look a little bit like Crocodile Dundee. Oh, Steve Irwin, actually. Yes. Which one is it? Steve Irwin. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, that's not a bad thing. No.
1:52Keyzie:Are you kidding me? He goes a stallion. Look, you're pulling it off. Can I just say that?
1:58Mike Minogue:I'm pulling what am I? Jase, you're looking good though, man. Yeah, thank you, man. End of story. Yeah, you don't need to tell me that. No additional, you know, observations on your outfit. You just look great.
2:08Keyzie:Mate, I looked at myself in the mirror today and I went, now you're talking. Yeah, sweet. Speaking of which, what's coming up on the show there, Mogey? Yeah, which coming up on the show?
2:20What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogey? Well, I'll tell you which is coming up on the show today, fellas. As mentioned, I went to a wedding over the weekend, so I'll get into a little bit of chat about that. Also going to be chatting about what signs there are that maybe your partner has gone off you.
2:39Mike Minogue:Yeah. Maybe your partner has gone off you. Yes. And, of course, if you're in Auckland, you're going to love this chat, and if you're not, you're going to love this chat even more. It's humid. It's very, very humid. It's humid in Auckland. and according to Jason Kesey, that's weird. It is very weird. That's weird. It's crazy stuff, man. How's the weather where you are, though? Give us a text on 3483. Let us know. Go in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. Here's Pearl Jam. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
3:09Keyzie:Lincoln Park there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. We're having a bit of weather chat. 92 % humidity in Auckland today, fellas. Wow.
3:19Mike Minogue:She's steamy as. It certainly is, Jase. It was actually 93. Oh, was it 93? Yeah, man.
3:24Keyzie:My God, that's insane.
3:25Mike Minogue:We asked for some updates around New Zealand. Apparently, Christchurch currently 31 degrees, 39 % humidity, 1 % chance of precipitation. Oh, wow. It's from Glenn. Those are good numbers. In Christchurch, those are great numbers. Those are the kind of numbers we're looking for, Jase. I would say same, Ogie. This one from Ben in the Naki. G'day, you mad bastards. Sticky as moister than an oyster here in the Naki.
3:45Keyzie:Yeah.
3:46Mike Minogue:So it's obviously humid down there as well. The good news is Pugs has made some humidity chat. An intro for Humidity Chats.
3:56That's a good song. Yeah.
3:58Keyzie:I tell you, I knew it was humid today because I was in a horror of a mood. Right. I was so snappy today. And I was like, what the hell is wrong with me? Even my wife was like, jeez, what's gone under your bonnet today? Have you got a bonnet? Yes. Do you wear a bonnet at home? I do. I lace it up underneath my chin.
4:20Mike Minogue:Right. I thought it was because you'd been off the vape for three days.
4:22Keyzie:Oh, that as well. But, you know, I was just toey as. And then I sort of, you know, took stock for a moment and realised just how sticky my groin area was, my armpits. I had a few beads of sweat on my forehead. And I went, you know what? And I said to my wife, I said, What did you say? Gee, she's sticky though, isn't it? And she went, yeah, it is quite moist and sticky for sure. Wow, that's a good chat. And that's how I knew it was humid. Right. That's the secret to a long marriage, I guess, when you're going to have to get that kind of stuff off your chest. Absolutely.
4:58Mike Minogue:93 % humidity. Now, I'm just going to read out some countries for you. All right. These are countries with... Is Sri Lanka a country? Sure, yes, Sri Lanka is a country. It's not on this list, though. But these are the top 15 countries by average humidity. Okay. Now, give me the top five. Costa Rica. Oh, yeah, she's steamy there. Oh, man. Steamy nights over there, brother. Really? I could never sleep. Never. I try and get my naps in during the day. Or you had to. 81 % average. Wow, okay. And we're at 93, fellas. That's higher. That's higher. We're higher than Costa Rica. Get this one. Philippines.
5:36Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah. Jeez, it's sticky over there.
5:38Keyzie:Sure, you need a mosquito net for sure. Sticky nights. Yeah. 82%. Yeah, that's still less than Auckland. That's less than Auckland. Yeah, that's 10 % less.
5:47Mike Minogue:Malaysia. Yeah. I don't know. I sort of find they overstate Malaysia. Really? Whenever I was there, it was sweet. Wasn't you? What about you, Jase? You been there?
5:57Keyzie:Well, funnily enough, last time I was in Malaysia, I wore a jumper.
6:03Mike Minogue:83 % humidity. Okay. That's a bugger all. Now, the country that has the highest average and most consistent humidity is Singapore on 84%. Yeah. Guys, that's less than Auckland today. Yeah. Isn't that crazy? That's true. Yeah. So that's the average you're saying, though? Yeah, that's the average. What's the high? Huh? The high. I don't know. Because you're giving me averages, and that's all good. But I don't know if you remember this, Jase, but it must have been probably February 2009. I remember a particularly muggy spell here in Auckland. Muggy smell? No. Spell. Suggie Mel. Oh, right. Yeah, good.
6:40We got up to 100 % humidity. Oh, I remember that day. Now, that was humid. Yeah. That was humour. Sticky nights. Sticky nights. Oh, jeez, yeah.
6:49Keyzie:I remember because I was making love that day and the sweat was pissing off me. You know, like when a dog comes out of a lake and just shakes itself? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like that while I was making love. Yeah, just fear flying off you, wouldn't it?
7:02Mike Minogue:95 to 100 % on average. Yeah, on average. Not on average, like highest for those countries. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
7:06Keyzie:Can you get any higher than 100, Keezy? I don't think so, man. Vietnam too, she can be pretty sticky.
7:13Mike Minogue:Nah, literally doesn't even feature at all. Yeah, you're wrong there. You've obviously never been. Jeez, you're off your head. Jeez, are you serious, Vietnam? Human.
7:22Keyzie:Here's White Stripes!

7:59Keyzie:How good. I tell you who did do this. Tom, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, no, not too bad. Thanks, how about yourself? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Beautiful day in Christchurch, are you here?
8:09Mike Minogue:Oh, mate, she's just a bloody parlor. She's bloody awesome. Get the sun back out. Yeah, tell me about it. Get on you, Tom. Get on you, mate. Is it humid down there, man? Oh, so humid and sticky, mate. I'll tell you what. Yeah, yeah. So humid and sticky, yeah. Does it get pretty humid down Christchurch way, does it, brother? On occasion. It's supposed to be absolutely pissed down tomorrow, which is awesome. Oh, a bit of moisture in the air.
8:32Keyzie:I've always been of the opinion that it's very dry in Christchurch. It's a dry heat. It's not your sticky, moist heat.
8:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, I suppose it's a bit different to the old orphan heat, but still, yeah, it's still pretty bobby. Different kettle of fish. Oh, 100%, man, 100%. Tom, apples and oranges, brother. Apples and oranges? Yeah, I mean, the difference is night and day. Oh, completely, yeah. It's raining cats and dogs, Tom. Yeah, sure. Hey, just quickly, man, what do you do for a crust? I'm currently a student at the University of Otago. They're treating you right, man, they're treating you right. Oh, always, yeah. I'd probably go down there, actually, yeah, yeah. What are you learning?
9:19Mike Minogue:Heaps.
9:21Keyzie:Okay. Well, that sort of covers all the bases there.
9:24Mike Minogue:Hey, Tom, I'll just ask you a quick couple of questions, man, just to verify this voucher for you. What's for dinner? What's for dinner? Turn that up, man. Ree burger. Ree burger is for dinner. Oh, yeah, okay, yeah, nice. That's good. How often do you floss, Tom? Pardon me, sir? How often do you floss? Every second day. Yeah, good, man. Good on you, mate. That's pretty good. Sounds like a lie. What colour are your undies, Tom? Red and black. Red and black. Yeah, and I'll say through and through. And, Tom, one last question, man. What's your deepest fear?
9:57Mike Minogue:My mother. Yeah. Yeah, fair enough. Good call. Yeah, she's a mad bastard. Yeah, she's a mad bastard, Tom's mum. Good work, mate. You've got yourself that$50 rebug about you, all right? Very much. Cheers, boys. Thank you very much. Good on you, brother. Good on you, mate.
10:10Keyzie:Usually, actually, I could totally understand someone's deepest fear being the mother-in-law. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? Because they get a rough time of it, don't they, mother-in-laws? They really do. Because they're just wanting to help their kids out and their kids' partners out and stuff. Their intentions are always really good. There's this perception that mother-in-laws interfere and are sort of busy bodies and all that sort of jazz. I've never experienced that.
10:36Mike Minogue:I feel like you're saying that in a way to suggest you have. Well, Jace is very, very close with his mother-in-law. Thank you, Mokey. Because he buys her lingerie every year. That's why he bought her lingerie. It's so weird. Is it? Yeah, I think so. Yeah.
10:47Keyzie:It was sexy, though. It was tasteful. Oh, it was very sexy lingerie. Oh, was it? It was a teddy.
10:54Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
11:00Keyzie:Green day there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is 4.37. And, fellas, I was wondering if I could maybe get some advice from you. and possibly some support with regards to something I'm thinking of doing. I am. I've been offered an e-bike. Ah. You know, one of those electric ones. Oh, E is for electric keys. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's pretty flash. Yeah. First and foremost, I mean, it was a very kind offer. Thanks. But I haven't ridden a bike for, I would suggest, 30 years. Well, that's the thing about, you know, with bikes. Yes. You never forget, Jase. Well, they say that.
11:44The thing with riding a bike is it's like riding a bike. Right. You never forget. Okay.
11:50Mike Minogue:An elephant never forgets. Right. That's true as well. And they don't like mice. Did you know that about electric bikes?
11:57Keyzie:Electric bikes don't like mice? That's what I'm hearing. Oh, my God. I can't wait to wait. I didn't realise that. Yeah. But seriously, it's been about – actually, that's not entirely true. About a year ago, a mate of ours gave us one of his bikes because he was moving into town and he didn't want it. And one day on a whim, I went, why don't I go for a bit of a hoon around on this bike? I kid you not, I went for a hoon on flat territory. I was rooted after two minutes. I was sucking in the air. I was in pain. The air, Moggy. I was in pain. My joints were seizing up. My muscles were seizing up.
12:35Mike Minogue:So this is what's great, and I've thought this for a while, is an e-bike's perfect, right? Yes. Because why put yourself through the stress of riding around on a bicycle? You don't need to. You're living in town now. Yes. Heaps of footpaths and things where you can get – does your building have a ramp?
12:52Keyzie:Yes, it's got a ramp to get into it.
12:54Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think, honestly, Mogi, I've been wanting him to get an e-bike for bloody ages. I think it's the perfect thing for you. What? And some of these e-bikes, what's so great about them is you can actually sit down. Yes. You can actually sit down on them. And they've got like a little joystick on the side and you can just sort of coast along with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you won't fall over either because you can get four wheeled ones. Oh, you can get four wheeled ones. And you can get one with like a basket on the front. You can put all your prescription pills and your fruit and veg and stuff.
13:22Keyzie:Do they have like a bell on the front of them as well? They do. They can do, yeah. Because, I mean, and I know it sounds stupid, but I had this fear that I'd be this stupid looking old bastard wobbling around the city on my bike there. But with an e-bike, I'd look pretty cool. Obviously, I have my basket, the four wheels. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I can do the little throttle there when I'm a bit pooped.
13:44Mike Minogue:Is it called an e-bike?
13:46Keyzie:I think it's a mobility scooter.
13:48Mike Minogue:Mobility scooter, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it could have like a flag on it on the back. Yeah, you have a flag on it. Oh, okay. You could have a flag and you can funsy it up, you know what I mean? You can add a little bit of personality. You could have the Jolly Roger on it, you know. Okay, maybe flames on the side of it or something like that. Sure, but yeah, for ages now I've been thinking you've needed to get an e-bike slash mobility scooter. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, that's a good idea.
14:10Keyzie:Oh, well, great. Okay, because I was a little bit worried about it, but that sounds good. Put a little shawl over your knees.
14:23Mike Minogue:Put your headscarf on as well, but it'll be cool. Your bonnet.
14:25Keyzie:Your bonnet. Put my bonnet on? Yeah, good. Jeez, I'm loving this. This is going to be great. See me hooning around the city there? My little shawl over my knees
14:36Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki
14:41Keyzie:I know that I approve of that What? Aussie saying that Well it's not him saying it obviously It's In the bush In the bush What's wrong with that? It's in the bush In the bush Well he said a hand in the bush
14:53Mike Minogue:What's a saying? What is it? A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush
14:57Keyzie:Yeah worth two in the bush Oh you see that's even worse now
15:00Mike Minogue:Well it's just a saying Okay
15:01Keyzie:It's an expression Two in the bush.
15:07Keyzie:What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
15:13Yes. Hey, fellas, I watched a news show because my wife left me again. Where's she gone? She went to a wedding in Taupo. I caught up with her on the Saturday because I went to the same wedding. We sorted her that. Yeah, nice. While she had left me though Yeah I watched a show on Neon called Industry Industry And it's set in London there And it's about some young folk Who just get hired at a big finance company An investment company A brokerage sort of a company You know what I mean? Yes It's pretty good It's pretty, pretty good It's drug taking if you like That sort of thing Yes There's a bit of nudity in there as well a bit of sexual tension, et cetera, et cetera, as they try and fight their way to the top and become successful in the wild world of finance in London.
16:08When was this set? I think it's now. Oh, wow. I think there might be a couple of seasons there. I'm not too sure. But, yeah, we're in a bit of a shambles now because the wife started a show on Apple. She started watching that without me, and now I've started watching a show without her. So we might as well get divorced, I guess. Is that what you do when this happens? I think so, man. I think that's when you reach that point.
16:28Keyzie:when you're going in different directions TV-wise. Yeah, exactly. It's over.
16:32Mike Minogue:It's called growing apart. Yeah, thank you.
16:34Keyzie:Yeah, absolutely. Well, I've continued watching Sherwood. Should I just say, three and a half buzies out of a possible five so far.
16:41Mike Minogue:Wow, that's pretty good. Yeah, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. Three and a half, and that is on Neon. That's on Neon. And it's called Industry. Industry.
16:48Keyzie:I've been carrying on with the drama series Sherwood. That's been really good. But also, fellas, I need your help on something, because I've just found out that my daughter's got Neon, and so therefore we have neon. We got rid of neon. Yeah. Anywho, I understand there is a bit of a, not a rerun, but a, what do you call it, an off-take of Game of Thrones. Yes, Nine of the Seven Kingdoms. Okay, thank you. That's what I'll be watching tonight then.
17:15Mike Minogue:Why, just Google it. You're going to wait to come to work to ask us what the spin-off of Game of Thrones is called.
17:20Keyzie:I've been waiting all weekend to ask you guys that for what's on the TV with old Mike Minogue. Yeah, the problem that we've got is that we've got Grandma Sue with us. It's not going to be up her alley at all. Yes, okay. But we are on the same page. We have been absolutely smashing the Come Dine With Me. Yes. Brilliant, brilliant show. And, of course, we've finished Long Way Home. We're now on the very first season Long Way Round, Keezy. Oh, yes. Which I expect you to start reviewing tomorrow.
17:47Mike Minogue:Cool. What? Yeah, okay. That's on Apple TV, right? Apple TV. Now, I did watch stuff over the weekend, boring stuff that I've been watching in the past. but this morning I spent three hours at the Auckland Art Gallery. I've never been. No, I was there for work purposes. Yes. Hang on. I was there for work purposes, but in order to sort of study up on the art that I was going to see, it was all about like Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock and all these American artists. I knew nothing about, I still know nothing about art, but I watched about an hour and a half's worth of art history on that particular style of art.
18:23Mike Minogue:And now I go, oh, it was all about, you know, can advertisements become art? Because he had a famous, he was obsessed with celebrities, and Marilyn Monroe is this famous print. He was a weird dude. Yeah, 100%. A lot of artists are, Jase. Yes. And a lot of actors.
18:41Mike Minogue:But, yeah, it was interesting actually wrapping my head around a style of art and going, this is why it was important, and this is why he was successful. Because in the past, I just look at stuff like that and just go, I don't know, it's some pictures. That's right. Yeah, so it's interesting. His was pop art. Pop art.
18:54Keyzie:Yes, pop art. That's what it's called, yeah. There is a very good documentary about Andy Warholme, just trying to remember what the hell I saw it on going into his life. He was a very strange character.
19:05Mike Minogue:Very much so. And when he died, because he was so obsessed with celebrity and was always partying and blah, blah, blah, blah, no one realised until he died that he was a very devout Catholic. Ah, right. And they didn't know until they showed photos of his bedroom that next to his bed was like a full set up with a cross, somewhere where he prayed every morning. Right. It was very, very interesting, just learning, going down that avenue and learning about art. Good on you, Keezy. I had no idea about it.
19:28Keyzie:Yeah, that's great stuff, man.
19:29Mike Minogue:How many buzzies? I guess four.
19:31Keyzie:Oh, four buzzies for Andy Warth. For art. Four buzzies for art.
19:39Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
19:45Keyzie:Welcome back, your massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Monday afternoon. You are listening to The Big Show, brought to you by ReBurger.
19:53Mike Minogue:Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change the game.
20:03Keyzie:Yum. So good. Did you just say burger then?
20:09Mike Minogue:Burger, yes, correct. I think so, burger.
20:11Keyzie:That's not how you say it, Kesey. It's burger. Moggy?
20:15Mike Minogue:Come on, man. Really, it's burger. Burger. Burger. It's a burger. It's a German word, sorry. Right, is it? Birgir. Oh, I didn't know that. It's derived from the word Hamburgu. Yes. And Hamburg. From Hamburg? Hamburg.
20:30Keyzie:Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah, that's where birgirs come from.
20:34Mike Minogue:I literally had no idea. I've been saying it wrong for 30 years. Yeah, your whole life. Yeah, it's embarrassing.
20:40Keyzie:It's one of those things where someone keeps doing something for so long, you reach a point where you go, well, I've just got to let it go now because it'll be embarrassing for Kesey for him to realise that he's been saying Bergier wrong the whole time. It's like when people say the word guttered. I'm guttered. Yes. When they mean guttered.
20:58Mike Minogue:Or we bait the other team instead of beat. Yes, yeah. Or bin instead of bean.
21:04Keyzie:Or performer instead of performer. Or pacific instead of specific. Or hospitable instead of hospital.
21:12Mike Minogue:Or aminellop instead of alumnop. Or axe instead of ask.
21:16Keyzie:Debris instead of debris. Yeah. So many people are getting so many words wrong.
21:23Mike Minogue:What are we going into here, Jase?
21:26Keyzie:The strokes. It's the storks. After all that, he says the band wrong. Come on, man. What are you doing? Are we going into seafood chat next, Keezy? Yeah, yeah. Seafood chat. Oh, how good.
21:37Mike Minogue:Can't wait. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
21:43Keyzie:Yes, indeed. The tool there on the radio, Hodaki Big Show, this Monday afternoon, 15 minutes past 5 o 'clock. I tell you what, fellas, two great tunes on the trot there. You like that? Yeah, two absolute crackers.
21:57Mike Minogue:Crack up! Hey, fellas, my wife and I are considering, we're looking into the possibility of maybe going to Japan towards the end of the year. Nippon. Not Nippon specifically. To be honest, it was literally just an idea at this point. We aren't sure. But then I was like, well, if I'm going to Japan, I have to wean myself onto seafood because Japan is home to the most amazing seafood in the world. Nippon is the Japanese name for Japan. Is it? Yes. Yeah, I guess I'm going to Nippon over to Nippon. So, yeah, I was thinking I'm going to wean myself onto seafood. I've always hated it. For some reason, when I was a kid, I just decided I didn't like seafood.
22:39Mike Minogue:Yes. but I don't know where to begin. I'm trying to figure out entry-level seafoods that will slowly introduce me to the world of Kaimoana. Can I say that you can't go wrong, Kesey? Right, okay. Well, I feel like you can. I've seen some pretty nasty stuff. Well, you can't. Seafood is one of the great treasures in life. It's a taonga. It's a treasure, Kesey. Yeah, right, okay. Yeah, I think you really have to, especially if you're going to Japan, where seafood is the cornerstone of the cuisine. It would be mad for you to not partake. That's what I was thinking.
23:13Keyzie:It is my greatest joy, food-wise, is seafood. I mean, I would happily eat nothing but seafood. I'd agree with that. It is the pinnacle of your culinary experience. Absolutely, I'd agree with that as well. All over the world it's done completely differently. They find different ways to reinvent seafood. It has local flavours that they bring to it, all that sort of thing. It's so versatile. I love it so much, Kesey, that if I was on death row, my last meal would be seafood. Can I just make the point too, Mogi? You were saying that they're different in all sorts of countries. You can chuck all sorts of flavours on seafood, right?
23:57Keyzie:Yeah. But the seafood in and of itself is a great treasure. Right, okay. Ah, the taste, the freshness of the sea.
24:05Mike Minogue:No, and this is the thing. and this is the reason why I want to get involved with seafood. But some of them do scare me off, like, for example, oysters.
24:11Keyzie:Oh, your oysters are shit. Yeah, gross. Slimy little bastards. And people sort of suck them out of the shell, and then you get bits of shells stuck in your throat. That's a no from me. It's a nightmare. Right. Make you horny, though.
24:23Mike Minogue:Right, well, I don't need any help with that. No, you sure don't. Well, and, like, so oysters are a weird one for me. Like, mussels, I've never really. Even worse.
24:34Keyzie:Yeah, especially when they marinate them. You know what I mean? Or pickle them. And they've got that really chewy little bit in the corner. The lips. And the tongue. Have you ever had the green-lipped mussel?
24:46Mike Minogue:No, I don't. You don't. They're disgusting. I find the lips quite tough as well. They have them actually down at the old supermarket. They're in the little plastic puddle. Yes. Makes me feel ill just looking at them. Yeah. Right, okay. Shit. Because that's sort of my attitude towards all seafood. Not all seafood. You just name a couple.
25:09Keyzie:There's a vast array.
25:10Mike Minogue:For example, I know my wife loves scallops.
25:15Keyzie:Yeah. Way too rich and sweet fowl. It's just the colour of them that gets me. Oh, the orange sort of lip. You're saying in the sea that it's orange? Yes. It's not right. It looks like a ration, like the ration of the sea.
25:31Mike Minogue:Yeah, right.
25:32Keyzie:It's like a poisonous sort of attachment. Right.
25:36Mike Minogue:A fungi, if you will. You're not really helping me yet. A hemorrhoid.
25:40Keyzie:A hemorrhoid, yeah. A bulbous orange hemorrhoid, the old scallop.
25:46Mike Minogue:Some of the stuff I've begun eating, it's like the real entry-level stuff. Like I don't mind calamari, for example. Calamari is fine. Oh, the... Squid. Yeah. No way, man. There's no way... Don't catch me touching that.
25:57Keyzie:Yeah, I'm not shoving that in my gob.
26:00Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Because a calamari is what? That's just like... It's the tentacles or whatever of the squid. Yeah, I'm eating tentacles now. Gross. Have you ever seen a squid? It's like the offal of the sea. It is. Right, okay. You know who eats offal? Who? You know, what do you call that there? The calamari? Yeah. Peasants. Right. What about the other night we had fish and chips and I got a piece of snapper? Nah.
26:25Keyzie:Oh, and battered, no doubt, right? Yeah. Covered in fatty, salty, disgustingness. and then it's all flaky and mushy underneath. Yeah, and when it breaks up, it sort of separates out into little pieces and that. Like a paste almost. Yeah, it's like the flesh of a fish.
26:42Mike Minogue:Right. Okay, well, what about like a beautiful freshly caught pan-fried snapper or something like that? Oh, pan-fried? Yeah. Nah. Never pan-fry a snapper, Keezy. Cool, man. Well, this has been really helpful. Have you ever had caviar? Ah, no. Shit. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
27:07Keyzie:Smashing pumpkins there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. Now the Grammys are going on at the moment. With that, we've got our in-house resident expert on the Grammys, our one and only Pug Zone. Ooh, it's Pug Zone. G'day, fellas. One half of the Yummy Boys. Oh.
27:28Mike Minogue:Are you guys up for anything? Up for anything at the Grammys? At the Grammys, yeah. No, not this time, Mogi. We're not messing with the establishment on that. Yeah, nice. I've just written down a few of the, because I don't know how across it you guys are. Well, this is the reason. Jase, you're totally across it? Yes. Okay, well, the reason I thought we could get Pugs in is because I suck at keeping up with all this sort of stuff. Pugs is very good and very across stuff. So I was like, Pugs could come in, tell us the stuff we need to know about the Grammys, which are on today. They are on right now.
27:55Mike Minogue:Okay. I think, I don't know if we've got to. Oh, we've had Record of the Year, which we'll play a snippet of at the end and we'll see if you guys know it. Show you. But they've had it on in the office all day. Right. The Grammys. Yeah, yeah. Just like on the TV there. Yeah, right. So just some of the biggest wins or controversies. Okay. So, for example, Billie Eilish has won, you know Billie Eilish? Do I? What's her name again? Billie Eilish. Billie Eilish, yeah, okay. Billie Eilish. So she's won Song of the Year, I think the last two years in a row. Wow. I think it's the last two, yeah.
28:27Keyzie:Yeah.
28:30Mike Minogue:So she was supposed to Maybe get a third But they ended up Was she nominated? She was nominated for Wildflower She had a chance I was going to say Wildflower But that ended up going to Somebody who went Massively viral on TikTok Which some people Aren't too happy about Lou Sassel Oh yes What you know them? You know Yes who?
28:49Keyzie:Lou Sassel
28:52Mike Minogue:Yeah right Can we just get on with it please? Speaking of Billie Eilish Her brother Phineas Yeah Phineas He's a producer, so he produces a lot of her tunes. He was supposed to get Best Producer, non-classical, but that ended up going to Ferb. Why was he supposed to get it? Surely it's... Because he's really... He's just very good. Like, he's highly regarded. It went to Ferb. Yeah. Who's Ferb? How good's Ferb these days? Just another...
29:14Keyzie:Up and comer, though. Yeah, yeah, another one in that category. I tell you what, I'll be honest. Hard to argue with that. Yeah, I actually picked Ferb.
29:25Mike Minogue:Oasis performed. Oh, yeah. Which is pretty major. Did they? Love Oasis, yeah, yeah. But they did Don't Look Back in Anger. Everybody was talking about it, but not necessarily because it was, I mean, it was good, obviously, because they've been doing hepsitoring and stuff, but it was more that they gingerly kissed each other on the lips at the end of the performance.
29:40Keyzie:I love that. What's wrong with that? You've got to love that. Well, I don't know.
29:43Mike Minogue:Talk to the people raving about it. The Gallagher brothers. People complaining about that? Yes. It's just weird to go from. Well, I guess they're brothers. I mean, sure, whatever you guys want to do, right? It wasn't like tongue or anything. It was more just like a light kick on the lips. There's nothing wrong with that. is because they spent bloody 25 years arguing and now they're on stage. Making out stage.
30:02Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, that's lovely. They told me they were going to do that and I was like, you fellas, you can't keep out of it, can you? They love a headline, don't they? They do.
30:13Mike Minogue:And then the biggest controversy was with Best New Artist because obviously that's, I think you have to have blown up in the year before or succeeded in the year before. The previous year. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That makes sense. But that actually went to Lady Gaga who has a blues alias called Gentleman Goo Goo. Oh, really? Gentleman Goo Goo? Gentleman Goo Goo. Yeah, yeah. Jase, anything you want to say about that?
30:35Keyzie:No, because there's no such thing.
30:37Mike Minogue:What do you mean? Huh? And then finally... Next you're saying there's no such person as Lou Sarsol. Or Ferb. I do have a snippet of the one that won Record of the Year, though, so I want to see if you recognise it. All right, here we go.
30:49Keyzie:Jason's hawker. Ain't no regulus now. He wears his weird hoodie and a filthy cap, no doubt But in this small town We embrace him all the same Jason Slaughter is just part of his day
31:11Mike Minogue:Tell you what, well served Yeah, it's a huge tune That is a huge tune That is a massive, massive, massive tune Oh, yeah, yeah Well, thanks for that, Pugs I feel up to date on the Grammys now Sweet, man Thank you
31:23Keyzie:Hope it out. Here's a bit of you two to ease into your evening.
31:28Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
31:33Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Led Zeppelin there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is 5.54.
31:40Mike Minogue:Hey, fellas. Here he is. This Thursday, Auckland's North Shore Stadium, a.k.a. Event Finder Stadium, is hosting the BNZ Breakers taking on the South East Melbourne Phoenix. If you and three of your mates would like to win a spot, courtside on the backbone bench, text the word bench right now to 3483. As I said, you're courtside, you get free food and free beverages as well. It's bloody awesome. And we did actually get sent a photo. We did. We did. The winners from the last game. It was a bloke and his missus there. And his brother. And his brother. His partner, yeah. And his brother had a bloody ball.
32:17Mike Minogue:They did have a basketball. One of them was so hammered the missus there. She had her shirt on backwards. She did. She had her backbone shirt on backwards, which is great. Backwards. So good. Maybe she was pointing it back so that the people behind her knew that she was a backbone. Yeah, yeah, maybe. Good move.
32:30Keyzie:Hey, speaking of backbone, plenty coming up after 6 o 'clock. A bit of sport chat, fellas. There was a bit of sporting action over the weekend. Also, meet Paddy Knips 69, where we give out advice to the people out there who are really struggling.
32:44Mike Minogue:That's right. Get in touch. Meetpaddyknips69 at gmail.com. It's a real email address and you could win a$50 Reburgher voucher.
32:53Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
32:59Keyzie:It is the biggest show and it's called The Big Show and it's brought to you by Reburg Year.
33:04Mike Minogue:Serving good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway Reburg Year today. Scrum diddly umptious. What I don't like there is they're saying that they serve good times and good food. Yeah. I think that's understating it. Great times and great food. Can you have a word to them about that, Keezy? Can you serve good times, though? Well, you know, it's metaphorical, obviously, Keezy. Not literally, but they kind of do with the vibe that they have in the restaurant there, the sauce chickens, everything they've got going for them. It's hard not to have a good time. Oh, you can't have a good time. It's impossible to not have a good time.
33:34Forget it. I mean, Keezy went in there. Where was that, Keezy? That was over the weekend. Over the weekend. Oh, yeah. The Grey Lynn store. Yeah, and you had a couple of smoke shows come up to you and get a photo with you? That's not what I said at all. That's exactly how you described it. That is not at all how it is.
33:46Keyzie:In Lululemon, you said? No, no, no, that is not what I said. And then you went into great detail. That was shocking. About the exact nature of their Lululemon outfits. I said, Casey, I asked you what you ordered. Same.
33:58Mike Minogue:But, no, okay, so I need to clear this up right now. We were having a conversation about surprising people that come up and say g'day. Yes. And I said, oh, over the weekend I was at Reeburger. And two young women, probably, I don't know, 23 or something, They were up for High Rocks, the big bloody fitness tournament. Oh, yeah. And they came in to Reburger. And I was like, this is great, doing High Rocks, but still eating the old Reburger. Good stuff. Yeah. They were like, oh, can I get a photo with you, Keezy? And I was like, oh, is it for your boyfriend? Yes. You know, because it always is for a boyfriend.
34:27Mike Minogue:Generally. And she was like, no, we listen to the show. And I was like, what? What? I didn't say anything about all that other stuff that you said, Jase. How dare you? What?
34:37Keyzie:You're a shocker, man. And it sounds like a line to me when Keezy said, is it for your boyfriend? Yeah, it's to see if they're single, Jase,
34:45Mike Minogue:because I'm going to have an affair, right?
34:47Keyzie:I knew it. You're a shocking rat. You are a piece of work.
34:52Mike Minogue:Yeah, but when I'm having my affairs, I always do them at Reburger.
35:00Mike Minogue:Here's the hypes. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
35:07Keyzie:Metallica there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. I mean, fellas, do you feel like a bit of sport chat? Yeah.
35:23Quite possibly the biggest sports news over the weekend, fellas, is Sam Ruth blitzed the Boston field to smash the age mile record. This fella is 16 years old. He's running for Boston University. he has run 3 minutes and 48 seconds .88 smashing Sir John Walker's record of 44 years he's only the that is the 11th fastest time in history wow this guy is 16 years old crazy he has got a long long time in front of him to get a hell of a lot better if you get an opportunity to have a look at the run you can probably do so the best place will be on Instagram or something like that He's still got heaps in the tank.
36:08Totally, man. And he's also going to get stronger. He's going to get stronger as well.
36:12Keyzie:Yeah, and fitter. And he's also, you know. Good-looking young fella. Good-looking young fella. Yeah.
36:16Mike Minogue:I just worry, you know, 16, you know, his life's all figured out for him. He's going to be a runner. You know, you don't want to miss out on all the good stuff, too.
36:23Keyzie:No, that's true.
36:24Mike Minogue:He's going to miss.
36:25Keyzie:He may hit the Beersies. Yeah, that's right. You know what I mean? The Bucky Bongs and stuff. Maybe. And his career goes downhill. Well, but, you know, think of the good times, though. Totally, man. It's that, you know? You've got to have balance, Keezy. That's the thing. 100%, Mogi. That's the thing. But that is an amazing effort. The 11th fastest of all time. People have been running for a long time, Keezy. Years. How long? When was running invented?
36:48Mike Minogue:Must have been... Because before that, everyone was just walking everywhere, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was like the 1900s. Was it? I think it was at the first... Because it wasn't even at the first Olympics. Yes. Right, because no one knew what it was. And then one day someone started running. Yeah. And they were like, what the hell is that? What is this?
37:01Keyzie:Yeah. Fellas, I don't know if you watch any of the tennis over the weekend, the Australian Open, of course, absolutely, sincerely, just unbelievable tennis. The semifinals, the men just falling apart all over the place. Because of the heat, man? The heat, yeah. They were cramping up. They were spewing. They were pulling muscles, but they got through. But the women's final was a great match between Sabalenka and Rybakina, the young player. Rybakina took off the first set, looked very composed for a young lady and took out the beast, Sabalenka, who then came screaming back in the second set and dominated her.
37:41Keyzie:She was screaming. And then Rabakina was three games down on the third set and went on to win 6-4. Wow. So she won the Australian Open and was just chill-ass, just gave the crowd a little wave. There was no screaming and hollering. Yeah, I like that. Very chill, very good. She's a backbone. And, of course, the men's final.
38:01Mike Minogue:Djokovic got out to a huge lead, I saw.
38:03Keyzie:Yeah, Djokovic, he's a legend, 25 majors and crowd favourite, against the absolute beast, Alcaraz. The young buck up against the old bloody war horse. Djokovic played great first set, and then the young fella just took over from there, basically. Djokovic is 38 years old, and Alcaraz, that makes him... 22. That makes him, yeah, at 22 years old, the youngest players to ever get the Grand Slam. Yes. It was phenomenal tennis all around. It was great stuff.
38:33Mike Minogue:It was a bit of a hiding in the end, wasn't it? Because obviously Djokovic won the first set there and then 6-2, 6-3, 7-5. Yeah, I think Djokovic probably played his final in the semi. Yes, and he pretty much said that. A five-match marathon, you know. It's a lot to ask of an old body like that. But I'm a big fan of Djokovic. Yes. I really do like him. UFC 3-2-5 was yesterday there. The fellas was over in Australia with Volkanovski defending his title again, his featherweight title against Diego Lopez. It's the second time they've fought. Also on the card was Dan Hooker, who lost to Benoit Saint-Denis.
39:11It's the second loss in a row for Dan. He's had a bit of a break. It was a shame. He kind of got the old ground-and-pound, Kesey, which I know you're a big fan of when you see the old ground-and-pound going on. Any pounding, really. Yeah, this time Dan was on the wrong end of it, which is a shame. He's a great, great Kiwi fighter. Big fan of his. Volkanovski ended up tosing up old Diego Lopez. It went to decision. The first fight was absolutely magnificent. This one, not quite so good, although there was a fun period there where Volkanovski sat on Lopez's face. It was sort of, I don't know. One of the commentators referred to it as a teabagging, which I'm not familiar with that phrase.
39:55Mike Minogue:Right, so pretend the face is like a cup. Yeah, that's right. And pretend Volkanovski's, was it Volkanovski? Yeah, he was. His undercarriage had a teabag attached to it. Right, and he was just dipping it on Diogo's face. And he was sort of raising his arm, because Diogo couldn't move, and he was just raising his arm and sort of cheering it up to the crowd, playing it up to the crowd. That's quite funny. And then revealed that Diogo Lopez was fighting with two broken feet, which is always tough. It does make it harder. Yeah, it's tough. It's my experience. Yeah.
40:21Keyzie:Great stuff, fellas. The cricket very quickly. We're out of time. Nugent got thumped in the last T20. India scored 270. We got 220-odd, I think. Yeah, we did. Only got us by about 40-odd. Jase. 270 after 20. Trackbone.
40:34Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Red.
40:42Keyzie:Hot. Chili Peppers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening.
40:48Mike Minogue:Hey, fellas. Synthony is officially back at the Auckland Domain. March 21st, thanks to our mates at Manuka Fuel.
40:54Keyzie:They're doing a lot of stuff, Manuka Fuel, aren't they? They really are. They seem to be behind a lot of events, I've noticed. They've got a few marketing dollars out there to spend, Jase. It's a hell of a product. Absolutely.
41:05Mike Minogue:Can I just say that they only choose the best events, though? Oh, sure. Because they had the tennis, obviously. They sponsored the arena down there over summer. Black Clash? Black Clash as well, involved with that. They're desperate to get them behind the Horeki Big Show. Are they? Oh, yeah. Why wouldn't you be? 42:01Mike Minogue:I was just wondering, guys, if you could rank these following bands. Here we go. Where would you put them in order? All right. The Black Seeds. Number one. You haven't heard the rest. Oh, I know. But so far, first. Okay. The Exponents. First. Shapeshifter. First. Wow. Okay. Peking Duck. Last. Okay. First. And Synthony, number seven. Oh, fourth. 42:55Keyzie:In the meantime, here's the Arctic Monkeys.
42:58Mike Minogue:The Hodaki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hodaki.
43:02Keyzie:REM there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show, this beautiful Monday evening. Fellas, let's give out some advice.
43:18Mike Minogue:Get in touch with the fellas. MeetPattyNips69 at gmail.com. Do get in touch. It's a real email address. It's anonymous and you get re-burger vouchers to do it. Interesting one, fellas. Last week, I was at home, right? I was at home. Yeah. And a friend of mine messaged and he was steamed at the pub. Oh, really? And he goes, Keezy, we need help. We need help with something. And I was like, what is it? And he said, I'm at the pub with a mate and his friend has been pranking him constantly and his latest one involved putting a photo of this guy up on a billboard, a digital billboard, that said looking for love and the app's not working.
43:56Mike Minogue:Meet John. And it says like qualified trains, blah, blah, blah, race cars, loves long beach walks, and then loveforjohn2025 at gmail.com written up on the side there. A genuine advertisement for his mate. Right. For people to get in touch, right? Yes. And they were at the pub like, how the hell do we get this guy back? So they got in touch. Hey, I need your advice. I've been pranked by one of my friends with a digital billboard looking for love and has also pranked multiple friends with sex toy pranks, etc. Heaps of questionable behaviour. We need advice on how to get him back. National advice, not rural.
44:28Mike Minogue:How do you help me ruin him? Now, they were wasted, so that didn't really make sense. National advice, not rural. Because they're rural. Yeah, right. They're rural. National advice, not rural. Okay, forget about that. Okay. It's a tricky one. Well, yeah, it's right on the spot there, aren't we? I mean, I remember we did that one. Or was it your mate, Joseph, living down in Dunedin there? What's that bloody steep hill? Baldwin. Baldwin, that's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And he always used to get up bloody early to go to work. He worked out at the hospital there. And what's the, what's the, when you prank somebody, there's a day of the week where you can do it.
45:04Anyway, a day of the year. April Fool's. Yes. Went out and cut his brake line. Yeah.
45:11Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's right. And he hurtled down the steepest street in the world. In the world, yeah. And what happened to him? Well, he lives with his mum in Huntley now, so it's hard to say. But that's the sort of thing that you want.
45:22Keyzie:Yes. Well, I did a similar, well, it's not similar, but I played a prank on my mate. He was pranking me all the time with those big metal, heavy metal buckets. Oh, yes. That you put your mop in. Yes. And I filled one of those with water and put it on the door. And he came through the door, of course, and absolutely smashed his skull. It was just horrendous. So where's he now? What happened to him? Well, coincidentally, he's living with his mum in Huntley as well. Right. So you can go too far in sort of paying back.
45:52Mike Minogue:I think it's humiliation, not physical harm. Yeah. They're after here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, like, you could run an ad campaign on radio. Well, how about this? You set up a hidden camera, and you put it at the bottom of his toilet, right? So it's looking back up. Like, up at the old Rushdie Sheriff's badge there. Yeah. And then you get a photo of that, and then you put that up on a billboard. I guess he's done billboard, but put that up on the billboard next to his face and just have the headline saying, look at the state of this bastard. Yeah, that's nice.
46:25Keyzie:That's really. It's given me another, you could make a sex tape with him. Oh, yeah. Seduce him. Seduce him. Have a sex with him. Make a sex tape. Have a sex with him. Yeah, just one. Just one time. Just have a sex with him. What do they call it late? He's not boring. Porn, revenge porn? Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? I don't know what you're talking about. I mean, I don't know where you'd post something like that, but you'd know, wouldn't you, Keezy? I think TVNZ's looking for new dramas. Oh, they are? Okay.
46:50Mike Minogue:Well, they might even pay you for it.
46:52Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. 22 minutes.
46:54Mike Minogue:Yes.
46:54Keyzie:Commercial half hour.
46:56Mike Minogue:So there you go.
46:57Keyzie:You might be pushing it 22 minutes, but.
46:59Mike Minogue:If anyone has got any good ideas on how this bloke can get back in his name. Even better ideas. Yeah, even better ideas, sorry. Email us, meetpattynips69 at gmail.com, and we'll just stay abreast of this particular news story. Yes, yes. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
47:23Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for your Monday night. In the podcast outro today, we talked about all sorts of stuff, but I'll be buggered if I can remember. What's the clip there, Keezy?
47:34Mike Minogue:I think this clip is about my granddad and what he did for a profession. Oh, yeah.
47:38Keyzie:Oh, yes.
47:41Mike Minogue:My granddad My dad's dad Dad dad Dad dad We used to call him Dad dad Oh dad dad He made a living A living A living He made a living What an animal Dad dad made a living
47:57Mike Minogue:That's a good clip Yeah it's a really good clip It really goes into detail Yes What my granddad I can tell you
48:03Keyzie:It was waste chat really Wasn't it About how we create All these things And then we just biff them out like my coffee machine, etc. instead of just fixing a simple probably problem. Probably problem.
48:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, Jase, because your coffee machine leaks and I reckon it's just an O-ring. It's blown an O-ring.
48:20Keyzie:Definitely, man. Definitely. I need your granddad. Your dad dad. He's too busy
48:26Mike Minogue:doing something for a liffy.
48:29Keyzie:Hey, Mogi, what's the plan tonight, mate? I don't know. I watch something on TV. I don't know what's for dinner tonight. I'm concerned about that. I'm excited about it at the same time. Yes. I've got a book that I'm reading that I'm really enjoying, which I'm going to review to you. Oh, I'll probably finish it. I'll definitely finish it this week. Yeah, nice. Very, very good. Very, very loving it. Very, very loving it. Very, very loving it. But other than that, man, I'm just loving life. How good's life? Oh, that's all right, man. Yeah. Well, what are you eating tonight, Keezy?
48:59Mike Minogue:Lamb, roast lamb, rump. Really? Oh, rump, too. And then we've got some ice cream in the freezer we're going to make. The house of a lamb. Yeah, lamb rump. And then we've got some ice cream in the freezer, which we're going to eat. Is it in the freezer? We're going to put it into our little waffle cones and eat that. Very excited.
49:13Keyzie:Little waffle cones.
49:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's cute. Waffle cones, though. It's cute. It's very cute, man. Do you ever get the other ones there, the gay time ones? No. You don't like gay time? I don't think so. I don't buy the cones. I'm down for whatever. That's a weird way to phrase it. It is. What do you mean? There's a brand of cones called gay time. And they're more of a square or cone. You know the ones, Jase. Yes, I prefer one. I don't like those ones. I prefer the full length ones. So you're really against it. Okay, cool. I love gay time. Good to know. What are you doing, Jase?
49:47Keyzie:Well, I'm going to go down to my apartment, fellas, and drop some stuff off.
49:51Mike Minogue:Oh, he's going to do poos. Gross.
