0:09Keyzie:Welcome to the Horeki Big Show with Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company on this, I suppose it's an alright kind of day. It's Friday 1st of May 2026 and as always if you can be bothered you're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Toledo's
0:36Mike Minogue:Out with the old brands they've had their turn Toledo's is here Clean Mean Hydration
0:48Keyzie:Toledo's! Oh g'day Mogey you stallion how's life? You're going pretty grousey you mad dog you're 600 a bee Aren't we lucky to be alive, fellas? Totally, man. And that's no offence to dead people. No. I'll be quite clear about that. I was going to say, I'm glad you said that. Beautiful day today. Sunny bastard. Chilly bastard. Yes. My kind of day, man. Crisp. Crisp. Mogey. Thank you. Thank you. I walked into work. It was so nice. Yeah, it's lovely. When I say walk, I mean I went on a lime scooter. People would shout out to me out the window. Mogey, you legend. Yeah. Cool scooter, you loser. Yeah.
1:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. That sort of stuff. What about you, Keezy? People have been shouting that at you lately, man?
1:25Mike Minogue:No, no one's been shouting at me lately. Had a lovely lunch. Oh.
1:30Keyzie:Yeah, boy, he had a lovely lunch, Moby. Jace, I had the same lunch you did.
1:34Mike Minogue:Come on, man. Rooftop bar, Auckland here. Lovely to celebrate this Wild Foods Month thing. So we had this delicious meal, and it was really lovely. The sun was shining. There were free drinks. Yeah. And in the corner, Hoity J there in a Backbone T-shirt and a hoover of a mood. Yeah. Glasses perch on the end of his nose,
1:51Keyzie:flipping through buzies on Instagram. When you say that we had the same lunch, I would disagree with that. We ate the same meal, but apart from that, our lunch was very different.
2:04Mike Minogue:I ate all of my meal? Yes. You ate one third of it?
2:08Keyzie:Well, two thirds of it, and I gave my other rib to Pugson. I'm more talking about the beersy side of things, where Keezy had about seven or eight, and I had a glass of water, maybe. Oh, you're a backbone. Yeah, thank you, man. Thanks, man. Hey, now listen, really, really big day today. Huge day. Huge day. We give away that Trump to magic round at around 5 o 'clock. So if you are in the draw... You're killing me. This is Mogey's job. This is my time to shine, man. What are you doing? I just want you to reiterate what I'm saying. Hey, Mogey, what's on the show? What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogey?
2:46Wow, as Jase has already mentioned, today we announce the winners for Magic Round. We're off to see the biggest game in Buckball League over the 15th to the 17th of May, I believe it is. Today we draw at 5 o 'clock on the dot. You are going to have one more opportunity to get into the draw for this, so keep your ear tuned to the wireless for the queue to call and give us a ring on 0800 Horaki. Not only that, we've got Jack Lambert, the UK comedian, and coming in for a bit of a yarn. We've got this robber. And we've also got a bit of a chat about Hoity J. It's the first day of the Big Bet. Jase, you've given up vaping.
3:22Yes. And we're going to have a bit of a chat about that, man. Just see how you're going. As we are every single day. Every single day we're going to check in, Mizzy, on this, brother, because we are behind you 100%. Yeah, sure. There's Pearl Jam. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:42Keyzie:Cake there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past four o 'clock. It's time for the Big Pole. The Big Pole.
3:59And based off the back of our big bet we've got going on, the Big Pole is can Jase give up vaping for the month of May? Get onto Instagram there, Hauraki Big Show, and have your vote, have your say. Jase, it's day one, mate. We've got a bet going on. Yes. You two are both betting me$100 each that you, Jays, can give up vaping and smoking cigarettes for the month of May. Yeah. No supportive tobacco or nicotine products outside of the gum. Yes, or the patches. And I don't mind patches either for that matter.
4:27Keyzie:Well, they make me itch, Mogey, to be fair, so I probably won't do the patches. I get very scratchy with those.
4:33Mike Minogue:And so if you can't do it, we then have to give Mogey each$100.
4:38Keyzie:Oh, I thought you'd taken on my burden there, Kizzy. Jays, come on, man.
4:41Mike Minogue:Come on, stop it This is just a cut and dry bet We either pay Moggy or he pays us And you'll feel healthier in the long run Yeah, sure Day one, how are you feeling? Because you've been in a hurr of a mood
4:54Keyzie:I've been in a great mood Look, a bit angsty To be honest A bit more angsty than I thought I'd feel It's just because I have a pattern to my day And the pattern's been disrupted somewhat You know, when I go and have oh, just take a moment and have a suck.
5:12Mike Minogue:Yeah.
5:12Keyzie:You know, just have a vigorous suck and everything will be all G.
5:16Mike Minogue:But you can still do that, just not with a vape. Yeah, true. Find other stuff to suck on. Chase, can you talk me through your habits, mate? When you start the day, generally speaking, now when you were at your old house, what you would do is, and you and I had our habits as well when we started on the show, but you would get up in the morning, you'd have a cup of coffee, you'd go out into your sunroom or out onto your deck there. Onto the deck there, mate. And you would blast yourself a dart. That was the way you started a day. Now, that is a hard habit to shake. Yeah.
5:41Keyzie:And I think back in the day, and looking back on my journey through smoking, that was the hardest one to kick. It was the first one of the day with my coffee because that's so good. You know what I'm talking about, mate. You know how good it is. It's the best. That first story of the day. We're not recommending it. No, not at all. Is it? Not at all. But for me, for me, it was, and to be honest, every cigarette after that was downhill. But the trouble with it is you've had the first one, so then you're in the habit for the day, aren't you? So you're off to the races again. So then I'm assuming that you made it, it was the vaping instead, replace that.
6:18But what have you been doing since you've been pig in the city? Because you're a big city life now. Yes. And you can't vape inside the house, or at least that's what you tell us, the apartment. So what is your habit? What's your first one of the day?
6:29Keyzie:No, I can't vape in the house. My wife does not approve. even when I scream out, it's vapour. It's not smoke. It's vapour.
6:38Mike Minogue:It's because you look like a douche while you're doing it.
6:41Keyzie:And also that's part of the requirements of the flat that we're renting. Yeah, sure. You can't do that. My habit is generally still to go for the coffee. Yes. First thing in the morning. Have a shower and go for a vigorous walk whereupon I suck upon my vape. Yeah.
6:56Mike Minogue:You can still go for the walk.
6:58Keyzie:Yeah, well, we do. My wife and I had our coffee, had our showers, went out for a walk, and I was a bit fidgety. Yeah. You know, and I was a bit sort of... The trouble is, Keezy, that the walk itself is triggering. Right. So if you go on the walk, you start thinking about the vaping. Normally I'd be vaping now. You go for the walk, well, that makes me think about the vaping. Now I'm thinking about it. So if I don't go for the walk, am I going to think about the vape? Probably.
7:23Mike Minogue:Question. Like, if you're weaning yourself off of caffeine, you can have decaf stuff. Is there that equivalent for vaping or smoking? Not for Jace. He only gets the gum. Yeah. No, no, but like, is that a thing? You know what I mean? I don't even know. I don't know. There probably are. There is. There is. There's those clove cigarettes that you have when you're making film and television, you know, and you've smoked those clove cigarettes and they're a foul bastard. Right, but they're not real nicotine. Disgusting. Can I smoke those? Is that legit? No. No, sir. No, you can't smoke anything.
7:50Keyzie:I mean, because it's not nicotine or anything, is it? No. You can't smoke anything.
7:54Mike Minogue:You still have your meth, though, but other than that, nothing.
7:56Keyzie:Yeah, well, but yeah, no, as I say, I think I'm a bit more angsty than I thought I was going to be, but other than that, fine. I'll tell you what's good for angst. A ciggy? Shit you. Mogi, stop it.
8:09Mike Minogue:It is the big poll. Have your say. Go to the Haraki Big Show's Instagram story. Vote there. Can he do it? We'll report on the results later on.
8:16Keyzie:Is it a binding referendum?
8:19Mike Minogue:What? No. You can do this, Jase.
8:22Keyzie:There's faith no more. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back. The Big Show. Magic round three beat. Let's put another mad bastard on the bench. Oh, yes, indeed. And just apologies if old Pugsan's been a bit, you know, full on on the phone there. He's hard into the roids at the moment with the old bench press challenge coming up. So he's a bit short on the old temper, isn't he, fellas?
8:54Mike Minogue:He certainly is. Of course, this is the final chance to get in the draw for Magic Round. Coming with us, the big show over to Brisbane there. Flights and accommodation taken care of. How good. Three glorious nights of rugby league action. Eight games of footy. Caxton Street. It is the greatest competition in radio history. Can I say that? I don't know if you can. It's like my dream come true, man.
9:19Keyzie:Three times.
Read the full transcript
9:20Mike Minogue:Twice now.
9:21Keyzie:I know, but it's just like it's coming. It just keeps on coming. Which is great. That's good stuff. Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Sean, you mad bastard. How's life?
9:31Mike Minogue:G'day, fellas. How are you?
9:32Keyzie:Here he is. Yeah, good, thanks, mate. You're stoked it's Friday, Sean.
9:36Mike Minogue:Mate, looking forward to it. It's been a long week. Yeah, yeah, I hear you, man.
9:39Keyzie:I hear you, mate. What do you do for a crust, by the way?
9:42Mike Minogue:I run a logistics company.
9:44Keyzie:Oh, backbone. Backbone. Good stuff. And who would you bring with you, Sean? It'd be a toss-up between the wife and the brother. Okay. That happens a lot, doesn't it? The wife and the brother, the wife and the mate. Yeah. It's a tough one, Sean. It's a tough one. It's a big decision because you've got the person that you feel obligated to take and then there's a person that you want to take.
10:02Mike Minogue:Yeah. Very, very tough decision. Tough, yeah, man. Yeah, yeah. Good as gold, mate. You hold the line, all right? You're in the draw. Cheers.
10:10Keyzie:G'day, Liam, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, it's going good, mate. Good on you, mate. It's good on you. You're looking forward to the weekend there, Liam? Oh, yeah. Definitely. It's going to be awesome. Good on you, mate. Good on you, Liam, man. That's the one, man. And, hey, if you won, Liam, can I call you Liam, man? Yeah. Yeah? Who would you bring with you? Oh, my mate Harry. Very glorious supporter. He'd love it. Oh, Harry. Nah, he sucks, man. He's a mad bastard, isn't he? Harry, they call him. I could take the missus, but, you know. What's her name again? Her name's Lisa. Oh, she is a drunk bastard.
10:45Mike Minogue:Oh, bloody hell. Oh, God. Is there anyone else?
10:47Keyzie:I mean, where do you go between Harry and Lisa? Oh, God. Lisa, fellas. I mean.
10:52Mike Minogue:Well, look, we'll leave that up to Liam. Liam, you're in the draw, mate. Awesome. Good on you, mate. Awesome. Thanks for insulting everyone I know. G'day, Blair, you mad bastard.
11:01Keyzie:How's life?
11:03Mike Minogue:Blair?
11:04Keyzie:How you going? Yeah, good, thanks. Mate, Sal, what are your plans for the weekend, Blair? Oh, mate, it's duck shooting. Opening day, Sal. Oh, of course. Mate, there's nothing like getting out there with your shoddy and just blasting a few ducks out of the sky and letting them rot on the ground. Yeah, sure. Tell me about it. Tell me about it.
11:21Mike Minogue:Good on you, Blair. Hey, what do you do for a crust, man? Oh, mate, we suck a bit of poos. Oh, poosucking. Nice. Now we're talking.
11:29Keyzie:Do you work for Charlie Gubb? No, no, no. Good on you. And who would you take with you, Blair? Oh, definitely my partner. I rope her into watching League every weekend. Oh, your backbone. That's a lot. All right. Well, you hold the line, mate. You're in the draw, all right? Oh, champion. Thank you. Good on you, mate. And just a reminder, five o 'clock today. we're doing the winner. What do you mean we're doing the winner? We're going to do them. What do you mean? Oh, we're going to call them. We're going to call them up. And then we're going to do them. And then we're going to do them. Now, five o 'clock, Keezy.
12:02Keyzie:Okay. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. The Red Heart. Chilly Peppers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. Tell you what, fellas. Only 12 minutes away from the big call
12:20Mike Minogue:Yeah, magic round Are you excited?
12:22Keyzie:Your phone's on if you're in the drawer Yeah, totally man Hey, let's talk TV What's on the telly with Mike Minogue
12:34Yeah!
12:38Fellas, over the weekend I watched a film called Court Stealing Starring Austin Butler He's hot
12:45Mike Minogue:Austin Butler? Yeah Your wife would be a big fan of his, Jay's. Played Elvis. You know that fella there? Yes, I know him. Yes. He's very good. Bit too aware of his looks, in my opinion. Yeah. Zoe Kravitz is in it as well, and also Matt Smith, who I'm usually a fan of, and Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny. And Liev Schreiber. It's directed by Darren Aronofsky, who's done a whole bunch of different great films. Black Swan was one with Natalie Portman. Oh, that was an intense watch, wasn't it? Mila Kunis? Mila Kunis, yes. That's a great film. I'll never watch it again. It was a tough watch. He's sort of renowned for that style of film.
13:24He did one back in the day, a drug one, Requiem for a Dream, which was pretty intense as well. That's right. This one was a tough watch for other reasons. It's about Austin Butler. His neighbour in his apartment building goes away, and then some people come to recover some drug money, sort of the storyline, and he gets caught up in it, beaten up and all sorts of bad stuff goes on while he tries to find the money to pay off the baddies, essentially. Zoe Kravitz is his girlfriend. Darren Aronofsky is a renowned director, but the tone of this is all over the show. It tries to be like a, almost like a train spotting, in terms of funny and then the serious stuff going on.
14:06It's an absolute shit show. Two buzzies out of a possible five buzzies. I think it's on Neon. Tough watch. I didn't even finish it, to be honest with you. Wow. Tough watch.
14:16Mike Minogue:Only two buzzies out of five. Yeah, no good. I reckon Pugs would have loved it, though. Have you seen it, Pugs? Yeah. He soaks his shoulders. He doesn't know what's going on. Yeah, he doesn't. He doesn't like participating. He's pissed up. Yeah, he's famine. From the long lunch.
14:28Keyzie:Yeah, well, he had a big lunch, didn't he? He did, yeah. And he's just still going now, I noticed. What did you watch, Jase? We did one of those classic things last night. Oh, yeah? Where we went. Oh, that's right. You know when you've been watching something and then for some unknown reason you get distracted and you watch other stuff? Yes. And then you go, oh, that's right, we were watching that series.
14:50Mike Minogue:Usually because that series didn't grab you, though.
14:52Keyzie:Oh, this is pretty good. It was one I've already talked about called Gone. It's a British drama. Oh, yes. Where a headmaster's wife is gone. Gone. His elderly wife. It's a whodunit, Kesey. Who done it? I mean, it's a pretty solid English drama. How far along are you in it? We're up to about episode five now. Some good acting from him. Yes. He does some of his best work. Like I said, I've never really been a fan of his Morrissey, is it? That's right. He was in Sherwood. Yes. Yeah. But he's very good in this. Very good.
15:32Mike Minogue:How many buzzies out of five, man?
15:33Keyzie:McCall give it a solid 3.2 buzzies. Yeah.
15:36Mike Minogue:That's on three now. I watched Location, Location, Location last night. The British one, TVNZ+. Can I just say, first time I've ever seen the episode and neither of the two featured couples that were looking for houses got a house. I've been waiting for this day. First time ever. Was this with Kirstie? This is with Kirstie Alsop and Phil Spencer. Yes. It's the classic. It's up to like season 40 something. But it's the first time ever. It shows how good the show is that they haven't found a house for either of the two parties involved. Whereas the New Zealand one, I've never seen them both get a house or even just one house.
16:11Mike Minogue:Like, that's the difference.
16:12Keyzie:You know what really gets my goat on those bloody shows is that they go, blah, blah, blah, decided not to put a bid on the house after all. Yeah, that's not location, location, location. They came back six months later and found another location. But that's not what happens on that show. Or they put a bid on the house and it was rejected.
16:32Mike Minogue:That's not what happens on the show. Yeah, I hate it when that happens too, Jess. On location, location, location. On location, location. It specifically does not happen on that specific show.
16:41Keyzie:And that's why I go location, location. No, thank you.
16:45Mike Minogue:Jase, I swear to God, man. Here's Muse. Never talk shit about location, location, location. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
17:00Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way, brought to you by Toledo's. Old brands are done.
17:10Mike Minogue:Toledo's is taking over. No nasties, no compromises.
17:20Keyzie:Toledo's.
17:22Mike Minogue:Exciting times, fellas. It is officially time to shut off the draw for Magic Round. Yep. Thanks to our mates at boystrip.co.nz. We've been putting people in the draw. Hundreds of people have been put in this draw. And in a few weeks' time, someone out there right now listening will be getting a phone call from us. They'll be then packing their bags. They'll be grabbing their mate, and they'll be coming over to Brisbane to Suncorp Stadium for four nights, accommodation, free flights, and three excellent nights of eight games of rugby league excellence. Yeah, man.
17:51Keyzie:It's bloody great stuff. It's a hell of a price. And they get to hang out with the fellas. Yeah, they get to hang out with the fellas. About five minutes a day.
17:58Mike Minogue:Yeah. Oh, is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, it's up from last year, is it? Yeah. Because I was told that they were sharing a room with old Hoity Janus. Oh, how good. I can't wait. Yeah.
18:06Keyzie:I'll tell you what we'll do. We'll go to a tune. And then we'll call our winner. Turn those phones on.
18:14Mike Minogue:This is a tune, by the way. This is a tune. Smashing pumpkins. If you've entered the draw, phone on. We could be calling you shortly. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back. The Big Show.
18:30Keyzie:Magic round three beat. Let's put another mad bastard on the bed. Oh yeah, here we are boys Here we are After weeks and weeks of weeks of putting people in the draw We've reached the moment
18:47Mike Minogue:Yep, no more putting people on the bench It's time for those people to be subbed in And officially get them on an aeroplane In a hotel room in Brizzy And then over to Suncorp Stadium for a weekend of rugby league awesomeness Give them their boarding pass here, Keezy Will do, fellas, alright I've got the winner here, picked out by Pugsan Oh, Pugs Yeah, you can tell because it reeks of alcohol. Because he's steam, man. All right, should I call the winner? Yeah, let's do it. Let's give them a call. All right, here we go. Here we go. Play it cool, play it cool. Here we go. Let's chill, man. Let's chill.
19:20Mike Minogue:Shh.
19:22Keyzie:How are we, fellas? Is this Todd, is it? Sure is, hoity jizz. Yeah, it's hoity jizz and moogie and old Keezy here from the big show. You ought to be kidding me. How's your Friday going, Todd? Oh, mate, it was actually a bit rough,
19:40Mike Minogue:but now she's a hell of a lot better here. Todd? Todd, have you got a passport, man? Sure do. All right, Todd, I'm going to need to pack your shit, mate, because you're coming to Brisbane with the big show. How good. Oh, yes, boy. Woo! Yeah, boy! Now you're talking.
20:02Keyzie:How good. How fucking good. Yeah. Who are you bringing with you, you sicko?
20:10Mike Minogue:My younger brother, mate. He's an absolute league nut. Oh, how good, my friend. Todd, when did you get yourself in the draw for this comp, mate? Last night.
20:22Keyzie:Oh!
20:23Mike Minogue:There he is. Just by the skin of your teeth. That is amazing, isn't it? That really is amazing, Todd. Yeah, totally. What's your younger brother's name? Josh. It's probably last film on his way home from work, actually. Oh, bloody great. How good. All right, Todd.
20:39Keyzie:So what are you going to do for the rest of the night, Todd? Celebrate, I imagine. Have a couple of jars. I'll tell him what's a bit of rugby. Well, that's right, mate. You've got a few big game days in front of you, so it's time to start training, brother, and no time like the present hook in.
20:56Mike Minogue:Beautiful, fellas. Thank you very much. No worries, mate. Take off the boys' trap. Yeah, we'll see you in a few weeks. Big shout-out to boys' trap.co.nz. Get your jerseys ready, Todd. See you in a few weeks, mate. Judy, cheers, fellas. Thank you very much. No worries. You're welcome. You hold the line there and Pugsane will issue you all your trip details. He was a bit of a backbone, wasn't he? He was an absolute backbone. I remember that backbone, actually. I love that he got in the draw last night. Yeah, that goes to show you never give up. 14 sleeps, fellas. Is it? 14 sleeps and we're off. Oh, God.
21:26Mike Minogue:I'm freaking out.
21:27Keyzie:Well, I mean, Todd was loving it, wasn't he? But apparently his brother is even more of a league manager. Yeah, that's right. So he is going to be having a very, very good Friday. My understanding is that his brother loves his rugby league and he loves his hoity-john. He can't wait to sort of sit you down in a corner of a pub somewhere and get a few beers and just talk about your career from start to finish. Bring it on!
21:49Mike Minogue:And a big shout-out to everyone that got themselves in the draw there. Hard luck. Hopefully we'll be doing this again next time. Oh, God, it's official, fellas.
21:58Keyzie:It's locked in. Yeah, and big thanks to Boys Trip too, eh, fellas? They're legends there. The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki. Yes, indeed. Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Friday afternoon. And congratulations to the backbone, Todd from Christchurch and his brother, off to the magic round with the fearless.
22:22Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. It's bloody exciting. It's very real now. What is it, 14 sleeps, Moggy? 14 sleeps, fearless. Oh, gosh. Got to start training for. Well, I mean, you started today at lunch. I had a couple of beers at lunch, Jase. All right? There's nothing wrong with it. It's not like I didn't go full-paste on.
22:37Keyzie:Oh, look, I'm not judging you, Keezy. I think it's good. That's bloody good, man. I think it's good you let your hair down every now and again. Yeah, totally, man. I had two responsible. Five or six beersies. Wow. What's the difference? Come on, man. No one on this show will ever judge you, Keezy.
22:51Mike Minogue:Really? Yeah, totally. Okay, that's good to know, fellas. Hey, from one exciting thing to another. Yes. Friday Throbber.
22:57Keyzie:Yeah, okay. Still got to do it.
22:58Mike Minogue:Yeah.
23:02Keyzie:It's the Horeki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Douche, douche. Hey. Keezy always gives me a little sideways glance now because he's like, is Hoardy J on tour? Is he going to miss? Gives it away, does he? Wow.
23:18Mike Minogue:I've literally stopped doing anything. I don't even care anymore. But Jase is really fizzed out. If people don't know what we're talking about, it's saying douche, douche at the right time. Yeah, totally.
23:27Keyzie:Totally. Fellas, this is a little something we call the Throbber. We each play a tune. We choose a tune. We play a part of the tune to get people fired up for going into their weekend and their Friday night of having a few beers like old Keezy over there. Responsibly. People ring us up on 0800 HODAKI. First of two votes gets their song played. At the end of the year, we count up all of those votes and then nothing happens.
23:49Mike Minogue:No, no, this year we're writing down every single song. Oh, we are. And it'll be a special. It's going to be a special. That's right. A special Throbber special. I'm going to go first, fellas. I don't think we play enough Megadeth. Oh. Yeah! I know you love it, Jase.
24:11Woo!
24:16Mike Minogue:Bit of Holy Wars there from Megadeth. June. I love Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth. That's my favourite. Yeah, I was playing with that one there, but this one just had a better riff. Yeah, I know. Do you want to bring us down a couple of notches there, Keezy? Sure, man. This is a tune from when I was in high school, maybe. Uh-oh. And it absolutely rules. Only when I start to think about it.
24:47I hate everything about you. Why do I love you?
24:57Mike Minogue:God, I haven't heard that song in so long. Yeah. And then I was reminded of it the other day, and I was like, God, that is a banger.
25:04Keyzie:It's the sort of song you'd hear in a teen movie. Yeah, or On the Edge or something like that. Yeah, yeah. One of those sort of, or maybe... So what is it?
25:11Mike Minogue:So you play a Megadeth song, and then I say it's great. And then I play a song, and then you guys both diss it. I sang along and loved it, Keezy. I really enjoyed it. You said it belongs on the edge, which you know is the highest form of insult. Jase, what have you chosen? Is it Hicks of Leon? No, because... Or is it Deftones?
25:31Keyzie:Velvet Revolver. I haven't played my boys for months and months, so it's the Deftones. Oh, my God.
25:50You're cutting your ties Now and forever
25:56Mike Minogue:Jesus. People love their mates. Yeah. People love them. I've never given them much time, and I'm not having a go here, James. No, that's okay. I'm Bible G. All the songs sound very similar to me. Yeah, to me. To me, it sounds like it should be on The Breeze or something.
26:11Keyzie:You decide, New Zealand. Get us a call. 0800 Hodaki in the meantime. Let's have a little Lincoln Park.
26:18Mike Minogue:This is a throbber as well, actually. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
26:30Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday throbber. Douche, douche. Oh, damn it.
26:41Keyzie:Yes, indeed. You choose, New Zealand. Kick your weekend off with the Big Show Friday throbber.
26:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, running a bit late today if you've just joined us. The reason being we just gave away a fantastic trip to Brizzy to join the fellas at Magic Round.
26:54Keyzie:Yeah, old Toddy there. Stoked. Absolutely thrilled.
26:58Mike Minogue:Him and his younger brother. Mogi, you went first, didn't you, man? I did, man. I went with a little bit of Megadeth, man. Riff. And some drums, Jase. Riff.
27:14Woo!
27:15Mike Minogue:Woo! Galloping Horses, baby. It's a classic mogey tune, that one. It is. I went for an absolute belter. It was right at home with my iPod back in the day.
27:27Keyzie:I stopped to think about it.
27:35I hate everything about you. Why do I love you? God's a tune. That gets you thinking as well.
27:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, because I hate everything. I hate everything about you. Why do I love you, Jase? Yeah, yeah, totes.
27:53Keyzie:I mean, that's love, isn't it? Love, hate, it's just... Not in my marriage. Different sides are the same coin, Jase. Yeah, indeed. Could I put it to you that way, man? Indeed. That's the genius of, what are those guys called? Humperdinck. Three days, Grace. Yes.
28:07Mike Minogue:What do you mean Humperdinck?
28:08Keyzie:What the hell's Inglebert got to do with this? And I went with my boys. Shall we not text you? Text me.
28:22It's such a... You're cutting your ties.
28:27Keyzie:Deftones. Yes, indeed. What's the name of that song? Leathers, it's called. Leathers, right. Oh. Yes. All right, well, shall we go to the lines? Yeah, great idea, Kesey. That's a good idea. Mad bastard, how's life? Oh, yeah, no bad, no bad. Good on you, mates. What are you running with there, Scotty? I'll have to go with Moggy for this one. Yeah, good on you, mate. Good on you, Scotty. G'day, Ian. How's life? Hey, guys. Good, good. Good on you, mate. What are you running with there, Ian? Well, I hate everything about Jeezy's song, and Moggy didn't choose Tool, so as soon as I've gone to Devstones next month, definitely going with Hoity J.
29:09Yeah, good on you, mate. Good on you, Ian. Don't need the whole story, mate. Nah, we did. That was great. Thanks, Ian.
29:14Keyzie:That's good. G'day, Patrick, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, thanks. Is that what you're supposed to? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good, good. What are you running with there, Patrick? My choice is going to have to be with old Chris Piena. Oh, three-way, boys.
29:29Mike Minogue:Good on you, Paddy. It's a three-way. I love a three-way. We've got a three-way here. Who else would we like to join us to sort it all out? Let's go five. Is that Dillbags?
29:40Keyzie:Are you there, Dillbags? Oh, g'day, fellas. Here he is. Mate, how are you going, Dillbags? What are you running with? What are you running with there, Dillbags? You get to decide.
29:52Mike Minogue:I don't appreciate the piss sweet effort that old hoity jizz and old maggie's relying on the old easy one. So I'm going with old Keyes. Yes, Dillbags. Good on you, mate. You're a bloody great New Zealander. You have a lovely weekend, all right, Dillbags?
30:08Keyzie:Good on you, mate. Good on you, mate. Oh, wow. There you go, Keyes. Old Keyes one. Big one. Is it? It's a big one. Oh, it's a drought breaker for you, man. No, it's not. It's a drought breaker for old Keezy. I won last week. Oh, we went here, were we? The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. There you go. You're Friday.
30:31Mike Minogue:Three days grace. Three days grace. Yeah, man. Text Machine lighting up with support too on 3483, which is great. Yeah, that's good, man. Friday Punisher. Oh. Hey, guys. As you're aware of the technical glitch, the edge appears to be coming through on your frequency. It's good stuff. You laugh, but old Keezy just won the Throbber with a bit of three days grace. Just looking at the Throbber scoreboard now. Way out in front on six wins each, Mogey and old Keezy, which is exciting. Wow. Yeah. And coming dead last on four wins, Hoity J. Yeah. How you feeling?
31:08Keyzie:It's an unassailable lead for you fellas, I would say. Unreal, wouldn't it? How did you go last week? Because, of course, Jason and I weren't here last Friday. Oh, the Wednesday throbber.
31:16Mike Minogue:Remember at the live show? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's right. He did. He went with the Wednesday throbber. Yeah. Yeah, two wins in a row, KCA.
31:24Keyzie:Jeez, look at this, man. You're making us look like fools. We were just sort of murmuring one over the top of the other. You were just kind of murmuring a bit. I don't know. You were caning your asses.
31:34Mike Minogue:You were looking good. What are you talking about? It's so confusing.
31:38Keyzie:Now, listen. What? Jake Lambert? Jake Lambert is going to be next. The comedy festival's on at the moment, or it's about to, it kicks off tonight, yeah?
31:47Mike Minogue:Yeah, tonight is the big gala, so it officially gets underway. It is officially May as of today, and Jake Lambert is a UK up-and-coming comic superstar. He is a superstar. He's got hundreds and hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. Yes. And he was actually recommended by the other bloke who was in here the other day. Oh, right. The other UK bloke. Yeah, yeah. He said he's bloody good. Mad dog. So keep an eye out. But he's coming in shortly, fellas, for a chit-chat. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
32:14Keyzie:Yes, indeed, collective soul there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this glorious Friday afternoon in New Zealand. International Comedy Festival's going off, fellas. And with that in mind, another comedian in the studio with us, the one and only Jake Lambert. How are you, you mad bastard? Radio's different in New Zealand. Yeah, it is a little bit. It's just this show. It's just this show. It's a bit different. That's going out in people's cars.
32:43Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, totally, man. So, Jake, we had Rob Beckett here last year. Oh, yeah, yeah. Also from the UK. Yeah. And he said the exact same thing. Yeah, that's crazy. That doesn't happen at home. Feel free to say it. Feel free to say it. No, thank you. That feels very nice.
32:58Keyzie:You see on our show, it's a term of affection to say you're mad bastard. You know what I mean? I'm sure it is, but it's just that's blown my mind. The other thing we do is we call people backbones. Do you get that in the UK? Farmers in New Zealand, they like to call themselves the backbone of the country. Oh, yes, yeah, yeah, we get that. Yeah, so we apply that to everybody. If you're on the dole, if you're unemployed, you're the backbone of the country, et cetera, et cetera. Anyone's a backbone. I'm a comedian, but when you said unemployed, you pointed at me. Yeah, I did. Why did you do that?
33:28Well, because you don't work much.
33:31Keyzie:But I'll tell you what, Jake, you just arrived yesterday at about midday. A hell of a journey for you. but how good to arrive in New Zealand and we've turned it on for you man weather wise it is magnificent it was lovely it was so nice I went out yesterday I got sunburn on my arms it was lovely there you go
33:48Mike Minogue:Jake have you ever come over to New Zealand and done comedy here before no never first time first time in New Zealand and have you like you know spoken to your fellow comedians because you rub shoulders with some big names over in the UK there have they been like oh watch out for New Zealand I do rub a few shoulders I will say what I've been warned of now. It's gone very interesting. Weirdly silent. It got very tense. Yeah. Well, I've been told that the audiences are so nice and so polite that they won't actually laugh during the show. They'll let you know afterwards that they enjoyed it. And that's what I'm worried about.
34:21That is very, very true. Okay. Well, good to know. Yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, Jase used to be a comedian. What do you mean used to be, man? I'm still funny, Moody. You don't do stand-up comedy anymore. So he would find that very silent during and after. Yeah, right. Don't even get the compliments after.
34:41Keyzie:But there is an element of the New Zealand psyche, Jake, which I think is we don't like to make spectacles of ourselves, if that makes any sense. And so, you know, we may internally be really enjoying your show, but it stays internal. You know what I mean? It sort of only comes out by staring daggers at you. Yeah, okay. Well, this is good tonight. My first show is tomorrow night. And so I might, usually the show is about an hour. Yes. But what that will mean is you'd say 45 to 50 minutes of material and you allow the rest of the time to be made up by laughter. Oh, you don't need to worry about that.
35:18But I might need to put in more material. No, you'll be home early. That's good.
35:22Mike Minogue:We've got UK comedian Jake Lambert with us. Jake, what's going through you here when it comes to approaching that first show in a brand new country? Because I've known, like, I've gone to see a lot of UK comedians when they come here. Yeah. And they'll always dedicate a bit of time to going around Auckland, for example, where we are, finding a few things to reference and stuff. What's your approach on that very first show? I don't do that because, one, laziness. Fair enough. Two, I worry that everything I've spotted, as you say, another British comedian has come and said it six months ago. And they go, yeah, yeah, this is it.
35:54We know. So I tend to ignore that. And then I'll drop it in later on with just whatever's happening in the room with the people that are there. Okay. Does that make sense? Yeah. Most comedians that come over, they'll sort of do 20, 30 minutes of Lord of the Rings stuff. Yeah, right. Whereas I've never seen it. Oh, you know, there you go.
36:08Keyzie:Well, that's, you can get 15 minutes out of that. No, that's all right. But in all seriousness, the New Zealand sense of humour is actually very similar. I mean, we get it from the British, basic. You know what I mean? You guys have been doing it well, but, you know, in terms of the stand-up comedy and all that stuff, been doing it a lot longer than we have. But we have very similar senses of humour. So when we say that Kiwis don't laugh, yes, they do. They'll be pissing themselves with you, Jay. Don't worry about it. Yeah, you'll be fine. We hope so. But that's one thing that I really like about being a British comedian is countries all around the world want to let you know that they get English humour.
36:44Yes. They really want – look, we get the English and the British. They feel smart by getting it, and that makes me feel smart, and I like that. Well, for us, we were brought up on it. So like the TV shows, it's the young ones and Blackadder and all of that sort of stuff. So, yeah, we're just always, we are British. Right, okay. It's the same sense of humour. Can we all hear this in there? Yeah, we're just going to go to a tune, I think, Jake, and then we'll get back to you.
37:07Keyzie:Is this Guns N' Roses? The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki. Guns. Mmm. Roses there on the Radio Hodaki. Sorry, what was that? Oh, it's just another little quirk of the show, Jake. Go on, explain it, please. Every time you say Guns. It's just leaning into the mmm. Oh, it's an ant. And also, we've got Jake Lambert, by the way, British comedian with us. We have the red hot chilli peppers. I don't know where it comes from. It's just another weird quirk of our show. It's why people don't listen to us very much.
37:43Mike Minogue:It's annoying. Yeah. It's very confusing, Jake. You are from the UK. You have come down to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. First time coming here. You were saying off air there, Jake. Oh, hold on. That was off record, I thought. I can't bring that up. Another thing on our show is usually I'd throw in something racist here that you've said off air. This is insane. Genuinely off air, you were saying that the reception's been really, really good for your live shows and you've had to add extras. That must, you know, warm the cockles of your heart. Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. But it certainly helps the bank balance.
38:16Yeah. If you want honesty. Yeah. It's lovely. Because, you know, you're coming down to a country at the bottom of the world
38:23Mike Minogue:you've never been to before and you're managing to sell out shows. Do you think your social media presence has quite a large part to play in that? I think it's got the only part to play in it, I guess. Yeah. I couldn't believe it. But people kept messaging me and asking me to come over. So I thought, well, the worst thing that happens is I come and perform to 20 people a night and I get a holiday out of it. Yes. People keep coming along. So we've added extra dates in Wellington and Christchurch. Oh, thanks, guys. That's nice. You finish my sentences like that on the show. Come along. That'd be great.
38:52Mike Minogue:and the other thing too Jake is you know just on your social media because how many followers do you have on Instagram and TikTok? Don't pretend you don't know come on mate. It's about half a mil isn't it? Instagram's about 850 ,000 Oh yeah and so is that like has that been one of the sort of important pillars in the comedy career you know? Yeah I think it's for a lot of people now. Even the big TV acts are sort of finding a way to put all this stuff online because you get to reach around the world you're not you're not waiting for the show there on to be shown in certain programmes to be shown around the world or anything.
39:25You can just, it goes everywhere instantly. Yeah. So I've been able to, like, come in here, gone to countries. I went to, I toured in Reykjavik, went to Iceland. I've been around Greece, Germany, because it just can reach everywhere. Sounds good, man.
39:38Keyzie:It's amazing, really, isn't it? You know, you come down to a place you've never been before and you're not only selling out your shows, you're having to put on extra shows. Yeah, it's lovely. What a great life you had, Drake. I was living Southwiz in the street yesterday. I was jet-lighted. I must have looked awful in these photos. You were having selfies on the street? Yeah, it was so good. It was lovely, but I looked horrendous. I'm surprised they recognised me. Now, listen, when you're on tour, what's your sort of go-to? What do you like to eat? Oh, you're not going to like this answer. I like routine.
40:06Okay. So you're going to be so disappointed with this answer. This is like a rock and roll. You're all very cool. No, no. I really like, at home I have porridge every morning. If you say porridge, Jake, I'm going to get very upset with you. Well, so I start with drugs, basically.
40:29Keyzie:So porridge is a good start to the day, mate. It's a good start. But the only place you can go to get it is just at Starbucks. So I end up going to Starbucks and getting a cup of tea because they do an English breakfast tea and a porridge. So I went around Canada in December and toured around there and it took me, every day I was at a different airport to fly to the next city, right? Yes. So that was the route, you need a routine somehow. So I'd end up going to the Starbucks but it took me a few days to realise they don't call it porridge, it's oatmeal. Ah, yeah. So you realise how bleak it sounds being called porridge.
40:59When you just see some Canadian staring back at you. It's not the most inspiring word,
41:02Keyzie:is it? Yeah, yeah. But somehow, oatmeal, even though you're basically saying just a meal of oats, sounds better somehow. Classy. Porridge does sound classy, doesn't it?
41:10Mike Minogue:Porridge is big in New Zealand though. Porridge, we've taken that from the British as well. Right. So you can get that pretty much anywhere. Oh, okay. Oh, really? Yeah, so you won't just have to go to Starbucks. Oh, this is good to know.
41:19Keyzie:We do a good granola as well if you're ever that way inclined, Jake.
41:23Mike Minogue:I'm not, but thank you.
41:27Mike Minogue:Well, look, Jake Lambert, thank you so much for coming on the Hodaki Big Show. Thanks for having me. I'm still thinking this might all be a prank, but thank you. You're such a little wearing the racist jokes. It's sort of insane. Not actual racist jokes, just joking about the fact that you might be racist. It's so insane. I think that would be someone's career would be over back home Just the idea of even referencing that you might be You'd be gone We genuinely think that Jace's days are numbered on the show Yeah, he's on his way out
41:56Keyzie:I've been doing radio for a long time Jake, it's time You know what I mean? It's time to be cold
42:02Mike Minogue:And actually, to be honest, Jake Some of the stuff you were saying before the show You guys would get on really good, you and Jace You should split a porridge at some point If you would like to get tickets to Jake's show Tough titties Most of them are sold out Are there tickets available still? I think there's Individual ones For tomorrow night I think there's like Seven left or something Oh wow I say like I know It's exactly seven It's just a random number To say I think it's something like that But it's exactly seven Okay so Comedyfestival.co.nz Go check them out You can also check out Jake Lambert Online anywhere But you probably already knew that Thanks for coming in mate Oh thank you for having me This was lovely Thank you very much Pleasure Cheers guys The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy.
42:44Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
42:47Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive bank bones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way, brought to you by Toledo.
42:57Mike Minogue:Out with outdated hydration, in with Toledo's, the new standard in clean electrolytes.
43:06Mike Minogue:Toledo!
43:10Mike Minogue:I'm a bit gutted fellas
43:11Keyzie:What's that man?
43:13Mike Minogue:My wife and I were like Hey we've got a free night tonight All of a sudden We had plans Now been cancelled I was like what do you want to do And she's like oh we can go out for dinner We can do this We can do this I was like oh you're getting really excited I just text her and I was like Hey what do you feel like doing for dinner And she's like I've already got it sorted I went to the supermarket and bought schnitzel Some Schnitzel I'm going home to have schnitzel Schnitzel's the worst I was telling
43:38Keyzie:Yeah, man. Thanks, man. I was telling Keezy yesterday on the way to the car there, Moogie, when we were walking home after the show, and I said, you know, we bought our favourite noodles and dumplings the other night. We got home and I was dishing it all out. And then my wife was putting something in the microwave. And I was like, what are you doing? And she said, just steaming some greens. Yeah. And I was like, what? What? Excuse me? We have all this delicious, spicy, meaty food and you're steaming greens. Well, she's going to live longer than you, though, isn't she? Oh, she definitely is. Yeah.
44:18Keyzie:But I'm going to enjoy my life so much more just eating spicy noodles and dumplings. Yeah, man. Vaping.
44:25Mike Minogue:Not vaping. Not vaping.
44:27Keyzie:I tell you what, I used to make a good schnitzel with a lovely mushroom sauce. Best in the world, I heard. It was the best in the world.
44:33Mike Minogue:And mashed potatoes. Yum. See, that sounds great. My mum used to make stuffed schnitzel. Oh, with ham and cheese? Ham, cheese and mushrooms. Oh, so good. We're not having that. You're saying your wife makes a shock. We're just having plain schnitzel straight in the pan. Not even crumbed. Oh, no.
44:48Keyzie:I wish it was crumbed. Here's Rage Against the Machine. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
45:00Radio Hauraki, celebrating Foo Fighters' new album, your favourite toy.
45:07Keyzie:Yes, indeed, and your chance to win, New Zealand, your chance to win.
45:11Mike Minogue:Either you get a copy of the brand new Foo Fighters album, your favourite toy, or you get a toy from the toy box that Dave Grohl himself dropped off to the studio, eh, fellas? Yeah, man. Unbelievable prize. Now, it says here that for this particular situation, it is... What is it? A toy from the toy box. Oh, OK, yeah, nice. Can I get one? Yeah, no, you can pick it today, that's fine. I never get to pick it. Thanks, Chris. I never get to pick it. You pick it next time. All right? And you also have the privilege of picking that massive honker every day, so Mogi needs a turn. Thanks, man. Now what we're going to do, fellas, is go to the Lions, have a chat to someone, and a reminder that whoever this is, they are also in the drawer to go and see the Foo Fighters live in either Auckland or Christchurch.
45:55I think people forget that. And that's a hell of a bro.
45:57Mike Minogue:I mean, that's the main prize, isn't it? That's the big prize. Bloody Oats it is. And whatever I'm getting out of this toy box. Yeah, Bloody Oats.
46:02Keyzie:G'day, Robin, you mad bastard. How's life? How's life?
46:07Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, pretty good. Almost crashed the tractor. Trying to listen to you, but we made it. Yeah, yeah, good. That's the one, man.
46:13Keyzie:Well, Pugsarm was telling us you're out there in Morrinsville there on your tractor with your son, I believe.
46:19Mike Minogue:Yeah, do you want to say hi, Billy? Hi. Hi, Billy. Billy's a mad dog. He is, too. I can tell. Hey, Billy. He's loving life in the tractor. Going to go find some possums soon, apparently. Oh, God. Good evening. I fear for them. I fear for them. All right, mate. Well, I just might have a little bit of a ruckus around in this toy box over here. We'll see what we can get out of it, eh? All right. Go on, Mogi. Feel around. Get something good. There's lots of good stuff.
46:44Keyzie:Because, you know, they've got the young feller as well. I tell you what, the beauty of these toys is there's no bad prizes in here. You know what I'm saying? You need to break all the rules. I mean, just. Okay, here we go. What do we got? Oh, how good. Billy's going to love this one, man. This one's called Grow a Poo. Grow a Poo. What do you think, dude? And what do you do? What you do there is you put it in some water and it grows to six times the actual size, so it turns into a massive steamer.
47:16Mike Minogue:Mogi, way to go, man. I mean, once again, I need to reiterate, the real prize is going in the draw for the Foo Fighters live in concert. Hang on a minute, Keezy. Let's not take the spotlight away from this grower dump. It's a Keezy special, they call it. No, they don't call it that. It's called Grow a Poo.
47:32Keyzie:What does Billy think about this, Robin?
47:35Mike Minogue:What do you think about us winning a poo toy?
47:38Keyzie:I like it.
47:39Mike Minogue:He says he doesn't want it.
47:44Keyzie:Yeah, I can understand that. I mean, who wants a grower poo toy?
47:48Mike Minogue:Oh, it's funny, though. He's probably got that covered himself. Yeah. He's changed his mind. He wants it now. He wants it. Yeah, the grower poo. So he's won the grower poo, which Pugs will send out to you. And also, Robin, let me reiterate, you were also in the draw to go and see the Fooys live in concert in either Auckland or Christchurch at the beginning of next year, all right? Okay, legend. Thank you. Good on you, Robin. Have a great weekend, mate. See you, Billy. Hold the line, fellas. Yes. That was lovely, wasn't it? Yeah, it was a nice fella.
48:14Keyzie:How kiwi was that? Young fella on the tractor with Dad on the farm? If he had have crashed the tractor there and he'd done it all for one of these little, I mean, it's great. One of these little grower poos here.
48:25Mike Minogue:Well, also, Mogi, I mean, you're looking at the toy box. I feel like you could have easily grabbed something that wasn't a turd. I don't look Kesey. I don't cheat, man. Don't you? You just reach in there and what you get is what you get. Yeah, sure it is. Another chance to win either a copy of the new vinyl or a great toy and get yourself in the draw for the old Philly's concert there next week on The Big Show. Great stuff. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
48:50Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. This Friday night. Now, we had a big poll at the start of the show, didn't we, fellas? Didn't we? That's the start of Hoorijay giving up the vape. First day today.
49:02Mike Minogue:Yeah, did you say big poll?
49:03Keyzie:Yeah. The Big Poll.
49:14Keyzie:And the question on the big poll was, can Hoorijay give up the vape for the month of May, I believe, or something in that kind of genre.
49:24Mike Minogue:That's right. But if you ever want to vote on the big poll, whenever we do, and you head to the Hauraki Big Show's Instagram story, you vote there, and it's a simple yes or no, and then we get a percentage, which is great. I didn't get a chance to vote. I forgot about it. Sorry, Fjell. Oh, that's a shame. Neither did I, Mogi. Now, for those that aren't aware, we have a bet. Basically, if Jase can give up the vape and cigarettes for the month of May, Mogi will give each of us$100. If he fails at any point, we both have to give Mogi$100. That's right, Jase. You didn't have a chance to vote. Had you voted, what were your vote of?
49:54Keyzie:That's a very good question, actually. A very, very good question. And as I asked at the time, actually, fellas, is this a binding referendum?
50:02Mike Minogue:What do you mean, a binding referendum?
50:03Keyzie:Well, I mean, if the people say, no, he can't, then should we just call it here and now? Yeah.
50:09Mike Minogue:It's so annoying making a bet with Jase because every single time we talk about it, is him wriggling out or trying to change it in some way? Yes. No, it's not. Okay. Now, what are your predictions?
50:21Keyzie:My vibe is very, very heavily stacked against me. I think you'll be surprised, actually. I think it'll be more generous to you than I would be. Right, okay. I mean, that's not hard, though. I reckon 60 % will say no.
50:37Mike Minogue:60 no? Yeah. Okay, so the wording is, will, Jase, stay off the vape for the month of May? You're saying 60 % of people will say no. Jase, what do you think?
50:44Keyzie:I'd say 80 to 90 would say no. 80? Can you just lock in one number?
50:49Mike Minogue:90. Okay. The result is, will J stay off the vape for the month of May? 82 % of people say no. 82. So four out of every five people. Yes. Don't think you can do it. Eight out of ten people know what they're talking about.
51:05Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. I'll show them. Really? What will you show them, though? That's the thing. I'll show them how much I love to vape. No. No, don't. No, no. No, no. It's day one. It's more fodder. More fodder. I'm going to go home and go to bed. Right, that's your strategy. If you can sleep through the month of May. So hibernation is the only way. Yeah, no, no. I'm feeling okay at the moment. It'll be all good. Great. 31 days in May? Oh, God, is there? Yeah. Doesn't matter, man. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'll take it one day at a time at this point. No, no, you have to take it 20 days. I'm going to take it one day at a time, get through the day, and then tomorrow's another day, fellas.
51:48Keyzie:Oh, God. That's right. tomorrow's a rough one is it
51:51Mike Minogue:yeah hey Mogi when we give you 100 bucks each for 200 dollars yes what are you going to spend it on you know because it's probably
51:58Keyzie:going to happen you get four packs of durries for that yeah well look don't worry about it I have been thinking about it I was thinking about something along those lines I mean Jace you need to be celebrated yeah you know when you inevitably fail so yeah I'll get you something I'll get Jace something nice you know
52:12Mike Minogue:so we're going to give you money that you're going to buy Jace something yeah I think so great more incentive for Jace to not do it Yeah, exactly. Oh, my God. This is the stupidest bet anyone has ever made.
52:24Keyzie:But you can do it, Jase. Yeah, man, I can do it. You bet your bloody arse I can, Keezy. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. You two there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening, but right now it's time for... Green Panty Pips 69.
52:46Mike Minogue:69. at gmail.com. Get in touch with the fellas. It's funny because I actually turned your microphone off that time and you didn't yell it for once. Regular listeners will know what I'm talking about. With the fellas! Anyway, it's a real email. What have you got for us, Keezy? Jase, I was literally right in the middle of saying it. It's a real email address. MeetPattyNips69 at gmail.com. Get in touch if you need advice. 100 % anonymous and you'll win a prize if we read it on the show. This one comes in from anonymous. Very relevant to right now. Fellas I'm having a year off the piss. Basically to help stop smoking darts and get some physical gains in the gym.
53:29Mike Minogue:The fact that I've peed the beds and constantly getting told off for saying marginal stuff isn't the reason I'm stopping by the way. Just want to put that out there. Yeah that's right. Nothing wrong with that. Anyway my question to old Mogey but I would love to hear Jase's opinion also from a sober man. not to you old boozy bird shit floaty shoe fun account boy is this if I've said I'm off the piss do you think it's okay to hypothetically take PEDs at my friend's wedding and still rip zero percenters or is that going to create another bad habit for future large events moving forward now you're good as gold, crack in totally man okay is that it?
54:07I think so indeed I mean I always sort of find that you know back in the day one thing sort of led to the other. Yes. But if you didn't have the one thing, then it wouldn't lead to the other. Do you know what I mean?
54:19Mike Minogue:Have you guys ever, do you guys wet the bed when you're really steamed? No, I never have. I've got a mate that used to do that. Great guy, but he used to do that all the time whenever he got steamed. And it got to the point where I was just like, I actually can't. I had a mate that did it, and I've spoken about it on here before, I'm sure. But he ran a, he was so bad. That's right. He ran a rotation of mattresses. Yes. So he had two on his bed to stop it going all the way through and into the base. Gross. And then he had four leaning up against the wall. And he would rotate those in, and he wouldn't put the other ones outside to dry.
54:51He would just rotate it back into the water without a word of a lie. He wouldn't, like, wash them with a hose and then dry them out. No, sorry, Barb. And then the other thing that he did was he went to the doctor, and you'd think the doctor would say to him, man, you've got a problem with your drinking. Yes. You need to stop drinking. But instead of that, the doctor gave him a pill to take every time he was boozed, which if he took it before he went to sleep, it would stop his kidneys working, so he would stop producing urine, so he wouldn't urinate in the bed.
55:21Mike Minogue:That sounds really bad, though. The problem is he was pissed off his head, so he never remembered to take the pill. So, yeah, some people have it really bad. I could never, from my point of view, if I did that, I would not drink. I couldn't either. There's no fun in it. Yeah, yeah.
55:37Keyzie:And also, generally speaking, if you're of that inclination, i.e. you go hard, then it tends to follow that whatever you take, you go hard. Yeah. There's no cheat code here. Yeah, there's no... It's like me with the durries and the vapes. I either do it or I don't. Mind you, having said that, I am doing the gum. Yeah. But you know what I mean? It's only so hard you can go on gum. That's right. Yeah, okay. So there you go. But, yeah, I mean, I've been to two weddings so far this year. I've been to 350th. I haven't drunk at any of them. I haven't done anything. I've had zeros, had a few zeros. Yeah, I mean, test it out, man.
56:19Test it out.
56:20Mike Minogue:Yeah. Give it a crack. You're a younger man than me, I know. So, yeah, have a go. But also, for the big show, don't do anything illegal.
56:26Keyzie:No, totally. And also, you know, here's the thing, Keezy. Why me?
56:31Mike Minogue:Okay.
56:33Keyzie:You'll feel great.
56:34Mike Minogue:What do you mean? Yeah, that's true, man.
56:35Keyzie:You'll feel physically really good if you just give it all away for a while. What are you telling me? Just as an example. Just as an example. I'm saying to you, Kesey. But this guy here as well, I'd also say to him, you know, you don't have to do anything. You go along to the wedding, you talk to people for a couple of hours, and you bugger off home, and you feel brand new the next day. You don't feel obliged to get involved. The issue is... There will always be an excuse to drink. There will always be an event. There will always be some reason to do it. Yes. And stuff your face. Are you talking to me again?
57:02Keyzie:Well, you know, if you go to a wedding, just stuff your face with food. Just do what I did at my mate's wedding and just eat all the time.
57:08Mike Minogue:That explains it. Jesus. Meet pattynib69 at gmail.com. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
57:25Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. What a day, fellas. What a show, eh?
57:30Mike Minogue:So good, man. Gave away a trip to Magic Round. How good? Won the throbber. Old Keezy. Old Keezy's on fire. It's good, isn't it? Your missus will be stoked about that, man. You remember when we used to run that line? Because you'd go home filthy. Filthy if you'd lost. I don't know what you're talking about. Do you remember that one?
57:46Keyzie:I don't know what you're talking about, man. I'm chill all the time. Now listen. What? What's the podcast outro clip tonight, Keezy?
57:53Mike Minogue:I can only assume this clip is about you, Jase, because the title is Plundering.
57:58Keyzie:I have to redefine where I get joy from. Yeah, but you need to have an idea about that before you start trimming things up. Well, I've already found it. There's only a vacuum. I've found it in... Plundering yourself. In plundering myself. Every time I have the urge, every time I have the urge now, right? To what? Oh, how often do you have the urge, though? Oh, 15, 20 times a day. Shocking, man.
58:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, so it's inside into Jase's first day off the durries and the vape there. Yeah.
58:30Keyzie:Yeah, you'll have to listen to the podcast to see how I deal with it. Oh, that's true. You know what I mean? A bit of mystery there. Yeah, yeah. What are the plans for the weekend for you, Moggy? Up the Waz. I'll be up the Waz. Oh, when are they playing? Tomorrow night at 7.30. Against? Paramata over in Australia. So, yeah, I'll be watching that. And then it's going to be a beautiful weekend. So I'm getting out and about. I'm going to go visit some mates, give the missus a bit of time to herself. Oh, nice. before she starts a new job on Monday.
58:58Mike Minogue:I've got a very quiet weekend as well, actually. Very chill, which is great. We're supposed to have quite a big, a large one tomorrow night. Kind of a circle this date for a big one situation, but they had to move it last minute. Right. So now it's the week after Magic Round. Oh, yeah. So I'll be a shell of a human just coming right and then back into it. Yeah, nice.
59:15Keyzie:Jase, what are you doing this week? You mean you're going to go get a milkshake? I've already had my milkshake, Keezy. Nice. Peanut butter milkshake. Beautiful, Mogey. We were planning on having a sneaky trip to the batch, but someone's got in before us. Yeah. But where were you saying get in before you tried to book it today? Yeah. We tried to book it a day before it's available. We didn't think that. You know, it's not often populated. So, you know, that's just how the cookie crumbles. He's fuming. He's in a horror movie. But I am very much looking forward to, you know, the weekend and going to the markets, going for wonders.
59:52Keyzie:There's no vaping. No vaping. I've got my wife with me all the time, and you know what she's like. If I vape, she'll let you know. Hey, have a great weekend. See you Monday. Bye. Bye.
