0:13Keyzie:With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, kere you mad bastards. It's great to have your company this Wednesday afternoon. It is the 26th of August, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by ReBurger.
0:30Mike Minogue:Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. ReBurger are redefining the norm. ReBurger.
0:37Keyzie:Yeah, great stuff. Speaking of which, God, you're looking great at the moment. Mogi, how's life? I'm going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. I guess I'm just looking good because we had a video go up on the Haaraki Big Show Instagram page last night and it really tickled me. Yes. So I guess I'm still glowing after that. If you haven't seen it, get along and catch that. It was all about celebrating the birthday boy, Chris Key. Yeah, man, it was a really special day. Really special day.
1:02Mike Minogue:Yeah, and the amount of guests you guys sort of organised to come and say g'day on my birthday. And so many actors and whatnot from some of my favourite shows. And over the last sort of 30 years. Yeah. You know, unreal. But you're worth it, Keezy. You are worth it.
1:17Keyzie:Can I say it was a who's who of New Zealand television. Years. Yeah, yeah, it was. Tell you what, Keezy. What's up, man? You're looking real sharp today, man. In fact, when you came in, old Pugsun said, oh, you've got a new do going on there, Keezy. But you hadn't. You'd just buffed it up a bit. Well, no, I hadn't. It was just normal. A really smart kind of lightweight jacket, a crisp, tight-fitting white T-shirt. It's very baggy. You're looking real good, man. How's life?
1:44Mike Minogue:Are your eyes all good? Yeah, good. Thanks, man. Got a date tonight, fellas. Oh, yeah.
1:48Keyzie:Yes, boy.
1:49Mike Minogue:With one of my mates going to the movies. Oh, yeah. Finally going to see The Odyssey, so I'm excited about that. Thought I'd, you know, put on something nice.
1:55Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, good.
1:57Mike Minogue:But yeah, life is good. Second to last day of the GOAT. Wow, that's sad, isn't it? It's very sad, Moggy. But tomorrow's the big day and I'm fired up for it. Actually, Jase, how are you?
2:08Keyzie:Thanks for asking.
2:09Mike Minogue:Yeah, good stuff.
2:14Mike Minogue:This is the GOAT, the countdown for real music connoisseurs. Now, how are you though? You all good?
2:19Keyzie:I'm a little bit shaken actually, fellas. Yeah. I'm very grateful to be here, I'll be honest with you. What is that? I just had something pretty full on and intense happen to me.
2:29Mike Minogue:Well, we'll talk about that next day, but for now, we're going to get back to the countdown. Yeah, shall we? Well, I mean, it was pretty intense.
2:36Keyzie:Hey, speaking of intense. You know, I would say almost life-changing. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah.
2:41Mike Minogue:We'll talk about that next, Jase. In the meantime, a song that has dropped 90 places in the countdown. Wow. And was in the top 30 last year. You're joking. That's right, from Guns N' Roses.
2:53Keyzie:The GOAT. Proof that Hauraki listeners have excellent taste. 121. Guns and Roses. Sweet child of mine.
3:02Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:06Keyzie:Beastie boys there on the GOAT countdown. You're listening to Radio Hauraki, by the way, coming in at 120. Where was that last year? Do we know, Keezy?
3:14Mike Minogue:That was number 30. That's also dropped back. Wow. Yeah, so pretty crazy. That's a massive drop in four. That's a huge drop. That's amazing, isn't it? But, fellas, I'm a little bit shaken up. I can tell.
3:29Keyzie:Could you?
3:30Mike Minogue:Yeah.
3:31Keyzie:Yeah.
3:31Mike Minogue:Like you're in shock or something.
3:33Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just something happened to me today, and in a weird kind of way, it's changed my life. It's made me realize how fragile we are. 100%. Was it weird, because I saw you coming in today, and there was that homeless guy that sort of got on all fours behind you, and another homeless guy pushed you over him? Oh, that's classic. I know, Andy's always doing that. But it wasn't that. But, I mean, here's the point, though, Mogey. I wouldn't have fallen over him, but I was so shaken up by what had happened. He got me that time, the bastard. But I'm going to cut to the chase, because it is a really serious matter.
4:17Keyzie:I got hit by a bus. Wow. What? Yeah, man.
4:21Mike Minogue:while walking away for something.
4:23Keyzie:I'm an absolute backbone for even being here today, to be honest with you. 100%. So, yeah, it's... When did that happen? About midday. Right. Yeah. And, you know, afterwards I was like, I think because I was in shock I was kind of okay, but I think it's just hit me, you know. Oh, my God, I got hit by a bus.
4:46Mike Minogue:I can see what you mean about being life-changing. Like, holy cow, it could have been all over. That close.
4:51Keyzie:You've often voiced concern about me and the CBD there, Keezy. Yeah, about you doing anything, really. Going for walks and stuff. Because the reality is I'm thinking a lot about life at the moment. Right. You know, and I've got my skull candies on. Yeah, that blocks out a lot. And I, you know, I'm listening to the tunes. Doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh. Okay. But anyway, so I was at the lights.
5:22Mike Minogue:I kind of want the bus to hit him at this point.
5:25Keyzie:I was at the lights. And obviously he was red, so I didn't cross. Obviously. Yeah, smart. And there was a bus at the lights, waiting for the lights as well. Oh, God. Yeah, yeah. And I've got my skull candies, and I'm not really paying attention. I'm just looking at the people around. Douche, douche, douche, douche, douche, douche.
5:55And then anyway, I hear the buzzer.
6:05Keyzie:Oh, the buzzer for crossing. The crossing buzzer, you know. Isn't it more of a eeeee?
6:12Mike Minogue:To be honest, in town it's more of a eeeee.
6:15Keyzie:Well, no, it's not staccato. It's one constant. It's more like a...
6:23Keyzie:And I'm like, okay, let's go. Do you say that out loud? Yeah, I do. Okay, let's go. Then everyone else is like, what? I'm sorry, I wasn't talking to you. And then it happened, man. I walked and... Just got totally smashed by the bus. Wow. How far did it smash you? Pardon? Did it knock you across the pavement? What happened? How far did you go? Well, no. Because what actually happened was, Keezy, the crossing was for the other side of the road. The bus hadn't moved. I just walked into the side of it. Bloody hell, it hurt.
7:04Mike Minogue:So you walked into the side of a bus, a parked bus.

7:06Keyzie:God, I felt like a real tool, too, because I was like, here we go. Ba-bang! Into the side of the bus. Gentlemen, this is... The GOAT. Democracy Manifest. It's like democracy, but with better music on Radio Hauraki. 119. Metallica, for whom the bell tolls.
7:30Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
7:37Keyzie:What an epic 118 lead zeppelin there, Kashmir, fellas.
7:42Mike Minogue:Massive tune from Led Zeppelin. That's also dropped down quite a lot from the GOAT countdown. That was originally inside the top 50. Wow. And now it's at 118. What's happening to people? I know. Fellas, I've got a bone to pick. Oh, do you? I do. Is that why Pugs is in the studio? Ooh, it's Pugs. Afternoon, fellas. Yes. Thanks for having me.
8:07Keyzie:Yes, it is. Hello, James.
8:11Mike Minogue:Cheers. Hello, Jim. Oh, big Jim. Last night I had a dream. All right? Now, this is a 100 % true story. And in that dream, there was a fair bit going on, actually. It was a busy, busy night. Lucid? But one of the things that was happening was my wife and you, Pugs, were giving each other hickeys. Pugs? What? Without a word of a lie. Yeah, I can see that. And that was sort of, it was like no big deal But for me in the dream, I was like, I don't think I'm cool with this I'm not cool with that and I'm not you And then I woke up and I'm still not cool with it Oh So I just want to bring that up with you And because the other thing that's going on is We've got come down with the feelers this Sunday at Hoity J's place We're all going there ourselves and our partners And I'm a little bit worried that at some point you two yourself and my wife are just going to start giving each other hickeys again because I made it quite clear last night that I didn't like it and I didn't feel like the message was getting through to be honest with you.
9:20Mike Minogue:So you said your piece during the dream, you had a word? Yeah I did. Okay well first of all thank you for your honesty both in the dream and now for bringing it to me Moggy. I really appreciate that. But I need to know what, well you guys, sorry fellas. Well no I mean, we all know that Pug Son oozes sexuality. Amongst other things.
9:42Keyzie:He's an oozer. The oozer. And a weeper. And a weeper. I want to be honest with you, you know, in terms of the come dine with the fellas scenario, I'm okay with it. And if people want to hook into each other at my place, that's all G. So you're okay if Mogi, as said in his dream,
10:05Mike Minogue:Mogi's wife and me are giving each other... You're getting bogged. It's pretty straightforward. He said it's all good. It's straightforward. Don't give Mogi's wife hickeys, man. And also don't not give my wife hickeys either. Well, hang on. What does that mean? Well, it means you can't just start sucking on my wife's neck and then go, okay, Mogi was quite clear I can't give hickeys, but I can still suck on the neck. That part of it's not cool either. No. What? No. And if you are going to do this
10:31Keyzie:Which is not Well as I say fill your boots If that's what's happening But can you do it after the sauna Because you know
10:42Mike Minogue:Are you doing a sauna or you'll come down with me
10:44Keyzie:Yes did I not say that No
10:47Mike Minogue:Well hang on it's pretty straightforward in my opinion Pugs don't give Moggy's wife hickeys I'm perfectly fine with You giving Keezy a hikki or Keezy's missus. In fact, I quite like that. Chris? Well, hang on. To be honest, I prefer you didn't give me a hikki. Oh, okay. But you're fine with just general necking. Oh, yeah, that's all G. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown. Music snobbery with financial benefits.
11:26Keyzie:Yes indeed fellas, another$100 to give away. Let's get straight into it shall we? G'day Blake you mad bastard, how's life? Blake? Blake? Here he is! Jeez, what happened there mate?
11:43Mike Minogue:Oh I was just trying to find a car park at the moment so... Yeah. Well priorities man. Yeah. Yeah man. Yeah, what do you do for a crust sicko? I'm a chippy mutt massive back bone massive back bone I tell you what you've won yourself a hundred bucks man that means you can buy your own car park brother oh how good yeah mate good on you where are you parking Blake what are you doing going out for dinner or something man
12:10Keyzie:no I'm just on the way home from work and going to get a haircut
12:13Mike Minogue:you know oh yeah what are you going with short back and sides oh I was just going to go to the old reverse scallop car yeah that's a one nice man
12:21Keyzie:Well, that$100, mate, why don't you go tonight as well? Go and buy yourself some new suits. Ooh, yeah. You know any good places, Hoyt and Joe? Oh, whereabouts are you? Christchurch.
12:32Mike Minogue:Yeah. No. No, there's none down there. Hey, Blake, you hold the line, brother, and old Pugson. We'll give you a right good seeing to, all right? No worries. Cheers, fellas. Good on you, mate. Enjoyed it on you. $100 cash just like that. Another$100 to win after 5 o 'clock, fellas. And we have got to rip straight back into this countdown because today is jam-packed. Jam-packed, baby.
12:50Keyzie:It really, it truly is, mate.
12:52Mike Minogue:Now, this next song, last year, was inside the top 100. In fact, it was number 62. It's fallen outside. It's a damn shame because it is a true slice of Kiwiana. The Goat. The countdown for real music connoisseurs.
13:07Keyzie:116. Sheard. Pacifier.
13:10Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
13:18Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Speed number 115 on the goat count down their highway to hell, fellas.
13:23Mike Minogue:That one has dropped a long way, guys. It was last year's song number 40. Wow. No, it wasn't. That's a lie. I've looked at the wrong number. Okay. Right, okay. Good stuff. It's actually gone up a bit.
13:35Keyzie:Hey, fellas, do you want to talk a bit of TV? Okay. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
13:46Yeah. Yes. Last night I was having a lovely just a chat with my family. My brother-in-law's turned up, and so we had to have a little bit of a yarn, etc., etc. And he told me one interesting thing, fellas, if you'd like to know. It's got nothing to do with TV. He was on the same flight as DWZ.
14:06Mike Minogue:Dylan Watanisil, isn't he? Who had his operation for his busted collarbone over in Sydney was on the same flight as him. He didn't want to say anything to him, but they ran into each other at the luggage carousel, and he said, oh, bad luck. He said, I've just had an operation. He said, don't worry, brother. I'll be back in time for the finals. Wow. So a little bit of an inside scoop there from old Mogey. That's good stuff, man. What about you, Jase? Who did you see on a flight?
14:32Keyzie:No one. I watched a movie last night on Samsung TV called Swimming Upstream. And I think it's based on a true story. Sure. And it's the classic story of, well, I'll read that little blurb here. One of many siblings in a large Australian family, Tony Fingleton struggles to make his own mark and most importantly, garner the respect of a stern father, Harold, played by Geoffrey Rush. It's a bit of a who's who in terms of Australian acting. And it's your classic story of a demanding alcoholic father who's never, ever satisfied with his sons, basically, and is always teaching them to toughen up. They always have to box each other.
15:20Keyzie:And he's so driven that only first is good enough. Would you say he's a hard taskmaster? Very hard, but he's also a fierce alcoholic. Yeah. Who doesn't like a few beers? But, as I say, I think it's based in sort of the 1960s and around the Olympic Games in Brisbane or something like that. And I won't give away the story, but let's just say the son does very well, but even then the father's not happy. It's a pretty dismal tale. Does he get a bronze? I'm not saying. No, he gets a gold and an old mate's still not happy. It's annoying, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. It is a biographical drama. It's a true story about Tony Fingleton.
16:01Mike Minogue:Fingleton. Tony. What kind of name's Tony? Hey, Tony. Fingleton. Is he a swimmer? He's a swimmer, yes. It's the name of the movie. Yes. Yeah, it's good stuff. Last night, fellas, I watched Colin from Accounts. Two bozzies.
16:13Keyzie:No, 2.5, actually.
16:16Mike Minogue:No, I'll go 2.8. Not even a recommend. No, I'll go three. Oh, nah. You can't have four ratings of a movie. I watched Colin from Accounts, TMZ Plus. Very good. Check it out. Watch it with your partner. Good watching. Coming up after five, fellas, not only another$100 cash with the GOAT countdown, but a chance to win a double pass to watch the Waz playing this Sunday against the Knights of Mount Smart. So stay tuned. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
16:45Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your hump day okay. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by Reburger.
16:54Mike Minogue:Craig Worthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Hey, thanks for coming in. Sorry for the late notice. Yeah, no, no worries. Always happy to help. I'll get to the point. Um, we've had a few complaints about you distracting your co-workers. Oh my goodness, no.
17:11Keyzie:Gee whiz, no. I'm looking around the office saying yum at various times of the day.
17:19Mike Minogue:It's really not. Oh, you're talking about yummy. Well, it's not work related. Yum. And it's not work chat.
17:25Keyzie:No, that's just because of this burger place that I like to go to.
17:30Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Red Burger. Are you talking about Reburger? That's it. Oh, mate, fill your boats as long as it's Reburger. Yeah, it's yum. Yum. Good stuff. That's the one. Good work, Pugs. Nicely done, mate. And, of course, big shout-out to Reburger and their new Chop House Burger. Head in there today for the rest of the week. You get a free side of fries.
17:54Keyzie:I'm just wondering, actually, on that front, Pugs-san, could you make me up a little library of all the clips you've made of Reburger? gear and I go play them when I go to bed at night.
18:04Mike Minogue:Just at home and like I play this. Yeah, yeah.
18:06Keyzie:And for the meal on Sunday, we can just sit around and listen to the Rebeer gear clips. The come dine with me? Yeah.
18:13Mike Minogue:Well, that would technically be Pugs doing the entertainment. That wouldn't be you.
18:16Keyzie:But I'll be playing it.
18:18Mike Minogue:Yeah, cool.
18:18Keyzie:We'll have a chuckle, won't we? Yeah, well, it sounds great, man.
18:21Mike Minogue:I'm actually busy then. Coming up this hour, a chance to win a double pass to the Waz this weekend, fellas. And this morning, sorry, I had my first ad audition in a long time. Yesterday I was talking on the show about how nervous I was. You guys gave me a bit of a pep talk. We did, for sure, man. I'd just like to fill you in on how it went.
18:39Keyzie:Yeah, good stuff. Hey, are we still doing The Goat, though, Keezy?
18:43Mike Minogue:Doing The Goat.
18:45Keyzie:The Goat, it's music's ultimate scoreboard. On Radio Hauraki. 114, the Pixies. Here comes your man.
18:54Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
18:58Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Coming in at 113 on the goat count down there. 1979, Smashing Pumpkins, Fellas.
19:05Mike Minogue:Smashing Pumpkins, Fellas. That song dropped down 21 spots last year, 92. I would have had that sitting probably 1 ,500, 1 ,501. Wow, so you don't really like it. I used to really love it, but it's one of those songs that I've been listening to for 30 years now, pretty steadily. Yeah, I think 1 ,500. Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. Where would you have had that, Jase? Top ten. Fellas, earlier today I did an audition for an ad. Now, last year I think I did my last audition. Jase, you got me a couple, and it was kind of like my foray into getting into acting for the first. The world of acting. I hated it.
19:48It was pronounced foray.
19:49Mike Minogue:The foray, is it? Yes. It's my foray into the world of acting. And I hated it. It was the most embarrassing thing I think I did last year. Wow. The most embarrassing, like the most. Really? Yeah, it was the worst I felt last year was leaving that audition room. Yeah. After I auditioned for an ad that involved me singing and acting the goat and then walking out and being like, why am I doing this? I hate this. I'm never doing this ever again. Yeah. Back in there today, the big difference this time I feel was I really, really, really practiced my lines a lot. Yeah. That's important to know your lines certainly.
20:23But like a lot.
20:25Mike Minogue:Like I knew my lines. In the mirror or? No, I was sort of walking around my lounge. pretending like as if it was the bar I'm supposed to be in. Yeah. I was like sitting here. Rehearsing, they call that. Is that right, James? Yes.
20:35Keyzie:Rehearsals, yes.
20:37Mike Minogue:And see, these are the terms I'm going to have to get used to, you know, with my foray into acting. And so I was like sitting on the couch and I got up and I walked over, did a little piece to cam thing and said, g'day to this person and blah, blah, blah. Went in there and it was great because, Mogi, I said, hey, will I have to do this whole scene? Yes. And you were like, yep. And I got there and they're like, cool, so we're going to do this in the three snippets? Yep. and they cut it into three bits. Great. I had overprepared. Great. Yeah, yeah. Best way to go in. Yeah, and the guy was like, right, so, and I was like, mate, I know what I'm doing.
21:06Mike Minogue:I've practiced the whole thing. I didn't say that. He was a lovely fella, but went in there. He was, like, trying to give me props and stuff, and he's like, if you want, I can play the other person, but I was like, it's okay. I've practiced without it. All right. And so I did it without it. He was like, yeah, good stuff. And then he said, cool, so we've got deadpan. Do you want to have a bit of fun with it now? Like, you know, have a bit of fun with it. Yeah, it was, which is kind of what I can do. You can do a funsy. And I was like, oh, do you want me to have a bit of fun with it? They're like, yeah, so just have a bit of fun with it.
21:36Mike Minogue:And he just turned the camera on. I was like, all right, action. And I was like, I don't know how to have a bit of fun with this. And I just did the same thing I did the first time, but maybe with a bigger grin and slightly louder. Yeah, nice. And he was like, cool, okay. This guy's got range. I did end up saying that to him. Actually, Mogi, it was your advice to just be honest. And I said, look, mate, I'm pretty new to acting. if I'm honest. So I don't have a lot of, I didn't say I don't have a lot of range, but I said I don't have a lot of experience in terms of, you know, playing different.
22:05Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm still learning. That's good. Yeah. What did he say?
22:09Mike Minogue:He said, yeah, no, it was great. Sweet. He said it like that.
22:12Keyzie:How did he say it?
22:13Mike Minogue:Yeah, no, it was great. It was pretty quick. It was like a minute, two minutes. Yeah. That's good, right? How many takes? Just the one. So I think it was kind of a situation of like, wow. Yeah, yeah. Well done, man. Thank you. That's really. Thanks, fellas. It's really good. I'm stoked. It's kind of. Yeah.
22:38Keyzie:Yeah, good on you, man. That's really good. That's really good, Keezy. Good job, man. God, that's good. The Goat, it's music's ultimate scoreboard on Radio Hauraki. 112, Rolling Stones, Sympathy for the Devil.
22:55Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki
23:01Keyzie:111 on the GOAT countdown there Wheezer, Buddy Holly, fellas
23:06Mike Minogue:That's right, that's massively up 207 last year on the countdown Up almost 100 places, fellas
23:11Keyzie:Yeah, good stuff Now listen, if you want to win a double pass to the WARS this weekend Give us a call right now on 0800 Hauraki
23:19Mike Minogue:That's right, they're playing Mount Smart Stadium against the Knights 4pm Sunday Time to chat footy with me, Keezy. What are the Warriors up to? They're taking on the Newcastle Knights. The Knights, who can be a very good team, have had quite a few injuries throughout the season and a bit stopped starting. Well, so have we, Keezy. Totally, Jase, totally. But to be honest with the Knights, you either catch them on a good day or a bad day. And regardless, I'm not worried because the Wars just step up. That's what they do, Jase.
23:48Keyzie:Yeah, totally. That's what they do do. Year after year, fellas.
23:52Mike Minogue:Great news. Tamayde Martin is back at halfback in the starting number seven jersey, so it reverts to Tamayde at seven, and then you've got Chanel Harris-Tavita at six, who did a great job at seven, but he's more of a six. So when I look at the team, everything looks fantastic. Loaded forward pack, good bench. The only difference, Mogi, is a new fella on the wing replacing Dylan. That's right. He formerly played for the West Tigers, and they've lost him. He's been playing in reserve grade, or New South Wales Cup, as they call it. Luke Laulili 'i. And a bit of a bustling little fella scores a bunch of tries.
24:30It'll be interesting to see how he goes, but if he's like any of the other players that have had to step up, I'm sure he'll go, great guns.
24:36Mike Minogue:I'm excited. I love this. And for the first time ever, I remember at the start of the season, and even last season, being like, oh, God, blah, blah's out. That means this chap's starting. That's right. Whereas, to be honest, nowadays it's like, oh, exciting. Who's coming through next that we'll get to see be awesome? That's unreal. There's nobody else like us. We're on our fourth half back. We've got Jackson Ford coming back. I'll be honest with you. I don't think you can put him in. If they're going to go by the same rules of, you know, if you're playing well, you've got to earn your spot back.
25:06I think he's an 80-minute player who's had a long time off. I think you've probably got to leave him out.
25:10Mike Minogue:And you're speaking about a guy who, Jase, was leading the Dallium voting for the entire NRA. I know, he was going great.
25:17Keyzie:He was.
25:18Mike Minogue:First half of the season, best player in the NRL.
25:20Keyzie:Picture this, fellas. An amazing Warriors match. You've just had a great feed. You're on Hoody J's couch there on Sunday with your zips down. Just letting it all hang out. Just watching the Waz do it. Yeah, that's good stuff, Jase. The other thing in our favour this weekend is that Frizzell and Dom Young are out for the Newcastle Knights. Two of their best players have both been suspended. So you would have to go, you'd expect a pretty good flogging.
25:48Mike Minogue:I'm expecting YS13 +, but let's go to the lines there, Phil.
25:50Keyzie:Yes, let's do it. G'day, Damon, you mad bastard. How's life?
25:55Mike Minogue:Oh, fantastic. Thank you much.
25:57Keyzie:Yeah, good stuff, man. What do you do for a crust, Damon? I'm a gardener with a retirement village. Oh, that'd be quite peaceful, I'd imagine. Oh, mostly. I don't think too much.
26:11Mike Minogue:Have you witnessed any old folk getting up to a bit of tomfoolery, Damon?
26:17Keyzie:No, I'm pretty focused on my job, so I'm mostly just head down, bum up and just get the day done. Yeah, do you hear that, Keezy? Yeah. Did you hear what he just said there? Yeah. He's focused on his job. Yeah, that's what I do. Head down, bum up. Head down, bum up. All fours looking over his shoulder.
26:33Mike Minogue:Yeah, I already do that. Hey, Damon, you keen for a double to the Waz on Sunday, mate? Oh, yeah. Yeah? All right, well, they're all yours, mate. Okay, you hold the line and Pugsun will hook you up. You're the man. Thank you much. Get on your worries, man.
26:48Keyzie:It's beautiful. Bloody hell. I wonder who Damon's going to take. Maybe someone from the village. Yeah. One of the village people.
26:55Mike Minogue:No, from the retirement. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
27:01Keyzie:Number 110 on the GOAT countdown there. Bloom by Nirvana, fellas. Now, listen, we're celebrating music with the goat, aren't we?
27:11Mike Minogue:Yeah, the greatest of all time.
27:12Keyzie:Yeah, man. And I think it was sad news today where I heard the news that the great Dolly Parton passed away.
27:21Mike Minogue:100%. I would say, you know, if there was to be a country music station doing a greatest of all time countdown, she'd be in the top five.
27:28Keyzie:Well, she was, you know, kind of like your Englebert Humperdinck. No, she's way better than Englebert.
27:33Mike Minogue:Yeah, she is. She is.
27:36Keyzie:but it was a part of my upbringing, Mogey, old Dolly Parton. My dad was a big fan. So was my mum, actually. They loved her. And I found out an interesting. My mum too. Did she? Yeah. I found out a really interesting fact about her today. She had two massive, or she had lots of hits, actually, but two of her big hits, Nolene. Oh, Jolene, sorry. Jolene. Jolene. Jolene. Jolene. Jolene. Jolene. and, right, which was a huge hit, and I Will Always Love You. And I will always love you.
28:17Mike Minogue:Of course, Whitney Houston covering that one.
28:19Keyzie:Yeah, and the bodyguard there made it huge. I mean, it already was huge. Those two massive hits she wrote in one day, apparently.
28:26Mike Minogue:Amazing.
28:27Keyzie:That is amazing, man. It is.
28:29Mike Minogue:It does go to show, though, Jase, because you used to write poetry, right? Yes. surely you get hit by inspiration. Well, you do.
28:35Keyzie:You genuinely do. Sometimes it just pours out. What? The inspiration. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's also come from very humble beginnings. She did. She was born in a one-room cabin in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. We went to Locust Ridge, Jase, one of the worst places on earth. Hellish. Really? Hellish joint it was. And yeah, it's in the Great Smoky Mountains. It's a fourth of 12 children. Yeah. The fourth of 12 children. That's a lot of kids, Keezy. And very hard-working father. Lee was his name. Old Lee.
29:10Mike Minogue:Did Lee used to work nine to five?
29:18Interesting you say that, Keezy. He was very proud of his daughter Dolly there, but he hated that song with a passion. Brought back a lot of bad memories for him.
29:26Keyzie:Yeah, because he worked his ass off nine to five. That's right.
29:29Mike Minogue:But fair, back then, 9 to 5 wasn't really that hard, was it? Like, most of them would be up at dawn. Well, he dreamed of working 9 to 5, if only. Yeah, right. And then she's singing about working 9 to 5, but he's thinking to himself, she's slacking off out there in New York City. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Actually, fair point. Why can't she work really hard like my workmate, Nolene?
29:49Mike Minogue:But a big rest in peace to Dolly Parton.
29:52Keyzie:She was also a very generous person. Donated to her, you know, when COVID hit, and she donated millions there to research and all that sort of stuff. And a very kind human being, apparently. And often when you get to be a huge star like that, you turn into a bit of a, you know, you get a bit full of yourself. But she was never like that, apparently.
30:13Mike Minogue:Yeah. Nah, big rest in peace to Dolly Parton, an icon in the music world. And just because we don't play her here, you know. Doesn't mean we don't love her. Everybody loves Dolly. Married for 60 years as well. Wow. And her husband passed away just last year. Wow. Oh, wow. Yeah. That's amazing.
30:28Keyzie:Shall we get back to The Goat? Yeah, I think so. The Goat. This is one of the greatest. It's like the Michelin guide for music on Radio Hauraki. Number 109. Fat Boy Slim. Gangster tripping.
30:42Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
30:48Keyzie:The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown. When being a music connoisseur pays off. Bloody oaths it does. My oath.
30:59Mike Minogue:That song, Talking Heads, Burning Down the House, number 108. I don't want to know where it was last year. Oh. I'm quite strict about it. Okay, never mind. Never mind. Came out in 1983, though.
31:11Keyzie:What did? Huh? Burning Down the House.
31:15Mike Minogue:Yeah. Did it? The song by Talking Heads. Yeah, 1983. Before I was born. I thought I was still making sense. What was that, Jase? Before I was born. Four years before he was born. Yeah, yeah. Far out. What's interesting about when you were born, Joe, is because you're, what are you, 39? You're the same age as my wife. Right. Wow. Yeah. Wow. What's your secret? Because Mokie's wife doesn't look anywhere near as good as you do.
31:40Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. Look, I just think, you know, appreciating the small things in life probably is the, you know.
31:47Mike Minogue:Does she not do that?
31:49Keyzie:She hates the small things in life. Yeah, yeah.
31:51Mike Minogue:Why is she with you then? Boom, boom. Hey, should we give away some cash?
31:55Keyzie:Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Hugo, you mad bastard. How's life?
32:01Mike Minogue:G'day. Bloody good. I've finished work for the day and I have to carry time. Oh, good on you, mate. What's a guy called Hugo do for a crust? I'm a mechanic. Oh, you're a backbone. What did you work on today, Hugo? Oh, lots of things. A couple of vans. Wound back a couple of odometers. Oh, yeah, every day. Yeah, good on you, mate. Good on you, man.
32:27Keyzie:Hey, well, great news for you, Hugo. Your life is about to change because you've just won yourself$100.
32:34Mike Minogue:Oh, bloody beauty.
32:36Keyzie:No worries, mate. Good on you, fellas.
32:38Mike Minogue:No worries, mate. What will you do with that hundy bones, man? I'd have to treat my fiancé to a night out away from the kids. Oh, yeah. That's the one, man. Now you're talking. The last guy that won$100 off us, I don't know if you know this, he staged a coup in a small South American country. Went very well. For$100, it goes pretty far. Yeah, he backrolled the whole thing. Incredible.
33:00Keyzie:And the guy before him, remember? Yeah. He was taking his partner out, and he enjoyed it so much he bought the restaurant.
33:06Mike Minogue:That's right. Yeah. That's right. For$100, here you go. A bargain. Yeah, good stuff, mate. Good stuff. We'll let you go now, mate. We'll hand you over to Pugsana, right? You hold the line. Thank you very much. Good on you, mate. Bloody hell, backbone, that guy. Yeah, totally.
33:21Keyzie:You don't meet a lot of Hugos. No. I do know another Hugo in my life. Well, there's Hugo Chavez. Yes. From Argentina there, Kesey. Hugo Weaving. Oh, yeah, Hugo Weaving. Great actor. There was Hugo, which was a horse, I think, a Steven Spielberg film.
33:38Mike Minogue:Hugo the horse. Yeah, he's a shitter. Hey, should we get back to the countdown? Yeah, let's do it.
33:43Keyzie:1.07. As voted by the Hauraki Faithful Hallelujah Your greatest of all time countdown Number 107 Pearl Jam Daughter
33:57Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki
34:03Keyzie:Welcome back your massive backbones I hope your Tuesday is absolutely going off You're listening to The Big Show by the way brought to you by Rebirth here
34:12Mike Minogue:Serving good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway re-burger today. Scrum-diddly-umptious.
34:20Keyzie:Now, I understand, Moggy, you have a bit of an event tonight. I do. Will they have snacks? I understand that they're going to have knapes. Oh, nice. I love a knap. And possibly even a meal of a more significant serving size. I mean. So I'm looking forward to that as well. I don't know. I'm not sure if it's a seated event. But regardless, I'll be there. I'll be stuffing my face. there and there. Get a few drinks in before I have to get up on stage there and there. Give a few people a bit of a dressing down, tell them what for. Yeah, good, good. Get up there and give them a spray. Yeah, that's right.
34:57Spraying them. Backbone, backbone. Hashtag backbone. Yeah, nice. Sounds good, man.
35:05Keyzie:You said you had an atrocity for dinner last night. A pork salad.
35:09Mike Minogue:I had a pork salad. It was very nice. It was a good meal to have after a bougie weekend of eating cheese and red wine. You said it brought you right back down to earth. Did I say that? Yeah, you did. I felt great afterwards. But tonight, even better, guess what we're having tonight? Stuffed capsicums. So you get a capsicum and you just stuff it full of mints. Yeah. Did you have some leftover mints from your pork salad? No, no, that was like a pork steak. This is just pork mints. Right, okay. Because, you know, we like to eat the pork in different ways. Yeah. Pork three ways? Have you ever had that?
35:45Mike Minogue:No, sounds great. A pork three way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:48Keyzie:Sunday Arvo, Mogey. Sunday Arvo, mate.
35:51Mike Minogue:Ten from me. That's ten from me. Jase, what are you having tonight, man?
35:55Keyzie:I don't know. I don't know. I don't know that my wife's been to the super today. We don't really have much in stock. Oh. So I don't. I'm baffled by what we're going to eat tonight. Sure. No, no, certainly not. No, no. I had that on Sakti.
36:13Mike Minogue:You'll dine out though, won't you?
36:15Keyzie:No, no, probably Uber.
36:17Mike Minogue:Uber eat something? Yeah, right, okay. Good stuff. Hey, well, exciting news for people out there. The last song of the goat countdown for them right now, fellas. Oh, yeah. Should we rip in? Let's go. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. It's been bugging me.
36:39Mike Minogue:Fellas, what's been bugging me is You know how I did that audition today? Oh yes You did, you did, yeah The ad campaign there Play like a suave kind of guy I thought I did quite well compared to my last audition And now I'm just sort of thinking What happens if I get the role, right? It's filming next week On Wednesday Yeah You know, it's good pay As ads kind of are and so I'm like, is it okay if I miss a day of the show to go and film this ad?
37:11Keyzie:Well, look, off the top, Kesey, what I would say to you is I wouldn't worry too much about it. What do you mean?
37:18Mike Minogue:Like it'll be all G? Yeah, that's a good point. I probably won't.
37:21Keyzie:No, I wouldn't worry too much about it being the situation. About booking the job. Yes, let's just say it happens.
37:29Mike Minogue:Is that like a don't count your eggs before they hatch or whatever? I think more a case of there are no eggs, there are no chickens. Yeah. Right, so it's just an empty basket. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, well, look, can you just like – let's just say I do book it, though, right? Okay, yeah, yeah, okay.
37:47Keyzie:Okay.
37:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, so I book it. Yes. I do a really good job. Well, you wouldn't book it.
37:51Keyzie:You wouldn't book it, I would.
37:53Mike Minogue:Oh, so do you book it? Yeah, yeah, they go through me. But isn't it usually that they say, oh, well done, you booked the gig to the actor? No, because it comes through the agent. Yeah, the agent tells the actor. And then so what did I do? I bagged it.
38:06Keyzie:No, you didn't do anything apart from the audition. I did everything. But when it comes to the booking, it comes through me.
38:12Mike Minogue:Right, okay, so you booked it and I nailed it. Well, in this imaginary. In a scenario, yes. In this world. Yeah, okay, cool. So let's just say that happens. I then go, hey, fellas, I need Wednesday next week off. Yeah. I booked that ad. How good. That's all G, right? We'll get pugs in. Pugs can come in and sort of try and do what I do, have a go at least. Not with me, it's not. What do you mean?
38:37Keyzie:What about you, Mo? Are you all G with that? I'm sort of six of one, half a dozen of the other. Yeah, but we've got no chickens or eggs at this stage. I'm so confused. Yeah, I don't know if you're ready. That's my problem.
38:50Mike Minogue:Wait, no, it's not about whether I'm ready or not. Actually, that is my fear too. Yeah. But if I've booked the ad, then obviously I'm ready. I just feel like they've made a horrendous mistake.
39:01Keyzie:And I would be on tenterhooks all day. I'd be like, oh, God, just waiting for the call. He bottled it. You know what I mean? He freaked out. This has happened to you before, of course, Jase, where you've had a phone call from the producer and the director, and it's, oh, it's happened again. Old Keezy's burst into tears on set. Can you come and pick him up? What do you mean it's happened before? I've never done that. What are you talking about? You know, I was happy to do that. And, you know, we've all been there. It was when you shat yourself.
39:28Mike Minogue:Okay, okay. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
39:36Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Arctic Monkeys there. And that's the end of the goat countdown. Boy, oh boy, fellas, it's getting very tight, isn't it? It's getting exciting, isn't it? I'm a bit surprised to have that song there, to be honest with you. Yeah, 100. Yeah, I would have gone 780, 781. Yes, AB. 780. Yeah, maybe 782? 899.
39:58Mike Minogue:Ooh. Really? So you're really, you both don't like that song very much. Oh, I love it.
40:02Keyzie:I mean, my top 900 are all bangers. Are they? Yeah, man.
40:08Mike Minogue:Could you choose one of them for the throbber next time?
40:09Keyzie:Yeah, totally.
40:10Mike Minogue:That song, of course, I bet you look good on the dance floor off their album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, released in 2006, fellas. 20 years old now. Wow. Very good.
40:18Keyzie:Now, listen, if you missed out throughout the day on the GOAT countdown, don't worry about it. Hoardy J's coming in early every day to put together a bit of a montage for people so they can get the vibe and where we're headed with the GOAT Countdown. Number 200, She Hard, Wait and See.

41:18Keyzie:150, Neil Young, Heart of Gold.
41:25Keyzie:140. Queen, Don't Stop Me Now.

42:02Keyzie:101, Foo Fighters. Times like these.
42:11Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Hope you enjoyed that. Jeez, it's sounding good, isn't it?
42:15Mike Minogue:You're getting really good at making those montages, Jase. Yeah, thank you, man.
42:18Keyzie:Yeah. it's been a really good learning experience for me, you know, learning the sort of editing and all that sort of stuff. It's been great stuff. What program are you using? It's one for dear brains like Hoody Joe.
42:30Mike Minogue:I've been asking him that almost every day. I still don't know the name of it.
42:33Keyzie:I want to give it away because then you guys will want to use it and it's all mine. That's pretty mean. That's really mean.
42:39Mike Minogue:Of course, The Goat returns tomorrow morning, 7am. It is the final day tomorrow, folks. 7am right the way through until the big show, the culmination of the greatest of all time countdown. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
43:03Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for your Wednesday. Now, on the disclaimer today, which is a new name for our podcast, we talked Paul from Recollection. a bit of pool, having a few darts and a few cold beersies. Shooting some pool and shooting the breeze.
43:23Mike Minogue:Good stuff, fellas. We certainly did. Here is a clip of exactly that. The podcast comes out at 7.30 tonight. Get him, get him, get him, get him. Do you remember that like in the first year? I remember you hating it. No, you guys just being like, oh, you know, you've got your Ugg boots on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I just had a look on my face. I was like, what? Ugg boots? You had a look on your face every day. The amount of times that Keezer used to roll his eyes and just be like, oh. Because I had to sit here silently just going, oh my God. Just watching two of the best go at it. Just go. Get him, get him, get him.
43:52Keyzie:Yeah, that was actually, Keezy went into a deep explanation of how we give him the X sometimes.
43:59Mike Minogue:It's only twice. Once when you mentioned you both wore Ugg boots and got really excited about it. Yeah, man. The other one was when you admitted that you had your own pool cues when you went to pool. Yeah, man. Jace's was in a little briefcase thing. Yeah, yeah.
44:11Keyzie:You know, imagine if you were a flute player. A flautist. Yeah, it was very long and thin. It was very cool. Can't remember where I got it from. It might have been my granddad's. And you just go in there. You go to the local hall or pub, was it? Yeah, no local hall, Ponsonby. And just get downed, Trout.
44:28Mike Minogue:Really? Pull your pants down.
44:30Keyzie:I would be annoyed if I didn't clear the table each time. Oh, so you're a waiter.
44:37Mike Minogue:So you'd be like, hey, guys, empty is over here.
44:39Keyzie:Have you seen my pool cue?
44:42Mike Minogue:Can I play? Can I play? Hey, Mogi, what's the plan tonight? Great question, Jase. That's a great question for you, man. Thanks, mate. And, well, my brother-in-law is here now. He's living with us. Oh, right. Yes, that's all right. So, and, I don't know, actually, probably work chat, I'd imagine, and a delicious meal. Yum. Not really too sure, but I'd quite like to watch something. But he's there, and you sort of feel obliged to chat. You know, a couple of fjells there. Oh, Luke, he's a drag, too. Oh, Luke, he bangs on a bit. We hate him, yeah.
45:13Keyzie:Keezy, you're going to a movie.
45:15Mike Minogue:Going to watch the Odyssey IMAX. Book the tickets like three, four weeks ago so that I can be right in the middle. Yeah. And I'm pretty sure it's one of the last nights you can go see it maybe. So me and my mate Guy are going to go to that and have dinner in town somewhere beforehand. Need a suggestion, Jase. Doosh, doosh, doosh. What does that mean? What time? 8.30. Oh, really? So there's 20 minutes of trailers and then three hours of movie. That's right. You've had this happen to you before. And I'll be home after midnight. Yes. Good stuff.
45:41Keyzie:What are you doing, Jase? I'm going to meet my wife for something to eat. Then go home and just chill out. Maybe talk a little bit about come dine with the fellas. Then probably make love, I guess. I don't know, actually. I might do a little bit of exercise. Good stuff, man. Hey, this is The Big Show. We'll be back tomorrow. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
