0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Oh g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company this Wednesday afternoon. The 3rd of September 2025 and you my friends are listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Serving good times and good food. Dine in or takeaway at Reburger today. Yum. Mogi a stallion. How's life?

0:33Jase:You're going pretty grouse, man. Yeah, it's good. You're a mad dog, man. You know that? Yes, I do. I was out in the kitchen before and I heard some people saying that you're a sick son of a bee and I couldn't agree more with them. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's very hard for me to argue with that. I'm a sick son of a bee. Yeah, yeah. Everyone's been talking about it. I tell you what, you're looking very, very coiffed and waxed today, Keezy. Got a shave going on, got a bit of a glow on, you're looking healthy and fit. You look like a bit of a stallion today too. What's going on? What's going on? Thanks, fellas.

1:11You know what I've decided to do? I had a shave, right? Got my new jacket on.

1:16Jase:Yeah. Is that your national audio and video jacket? It's a second-hand, it's an op shop jacket. Yeah, I mean, you found it on the road, didn't you? You're saying. It says National Video Industries, and it's got Tony written on the other side. Tony. Hi, my name's Tony. I have no idea what it is. I've Googled it. Sorry about that, man. This is probably the third time you've worn that, and at no point have we started calling you Tony, and I'm so sorry. No, don't start calling you Tony. That's confusing. What I love about your second-hand stuff that you buy and the op shop sort of stuff. As opposed to the stuff you buy.

1:48Well, there's Wi-Fi's them for Wi-Fi's them, yeah. It's always immaculate. You know what I mean? Like, I think op shop secondhand, it's a bit rough and ready and manly, but everything is just pristine and pressed.

2:01Jase:Well, the thing about Tony is he looks after his stuff. Yeah, that's true. He must have done. I'm sorry I don't go to the op shop and buy dirty shit clothes. Okay. Well, I look at Pugs and Studio B, for example, because he loves the op shop shop. And he looks like a piece of work. He looks like he's been on the street for 10 years. Do you know what I mean? But that's his thing, though. I guess it's a look. I guess I'd say chill out, Tony. You don't have to take it personally. Yeah, totally, man. Mogi, this whole Tony thing's not going to take off, all right? Hit us up on 3483 if this whole Tony thing is going to take off or not.

2:37Jase:Hey, we've got a hell of a show today, fellas. Yeah, we do. Listen up, everybody. Today, Jase, you're going to be talking about playing in a golf tournament. Yeah, man. And you're a little bit worried about it because you're terrified of making friends with strangers. And, of course, we're going to have another opportunity for people to get into our swingers club. We're off to Fiji. Yeah, how good. And then Keezy, the mad dog, he's got a stag dude coming up, and he's terrified of making friends with strangers. What the? So we'll be talking about that next. I don't like this whole Moogie's going to tease what's coming up thing we're doing.

3:07Here's Weezer. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. We're going to push there this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.12. Mogi's cracking up because people think it's funny and you should start calling me Tony. Because that's what's on your jacket.

3:25Jase:Somebody's text through 3483, the big show with tones. Yeah, cool, man. That's so cool. For those who have just joined us, I bought a second-hand jacket and it has Tony written on the phone. And so now Mogi thinks it's funny to call me Tony. It's good stuff. I do have a dilemma, fellas. Oh, yes. Are you on the horns of a dilemma? Are you going to change your name to Tony? Moggy. I'm on the horns of a dilemma. I have a stag do this weekend. All right? Okay. It's a stag do. It's a two-nighter, two-day. It's a biggie. It's a biggie. It's down south. And I've been sent through all the details and stuff, just checking it all now, like where we're staying, that sort of thing, just to wrap my head around things.

4:06Big place, 20 blokes. Yeah. Hot. 10 beds. Okay. 10 double beds. Yes. So I will have to share a bed with someone. I don't really know everyone all that well. So basically what I want to do is on the first day, this Friday, by the way, is the first day, so I won't be here, but I'll be trying to like, you know, try and match up with someone to be my potential bed mate.

4:29Jase:Is it Friday, Saturday night? Friday, Saturday night, yeah. Are you going down as Chris or Tony?

4:39Chris.

4:47I've never Chase Are you kidding me? Okay I've never seen Chase laugh that loud And I was asking If I'm going Is Chris or Tony? So So The dilemma is Keezy You're going down there There's 20 dudes Do you want me to repeat that? There's 20 dudes in 10 beds.

5:17Jase:My question to you, Keezy, is you're going on a stag do. Why have you got any beds at all? Nobody should be sleeping. It should just be going the entire time. You get down there, you start, you don't stop, you get on the plane, you come home. The beds are surplus to requirements. Chuck them on the lawn. But, like, yeah, that's great. But I don't think I've got the stamina. Of course you do, Tony. You're a mad bastard.

5:44Pugs do you want to just sort of do the rest of the show and I'll just be in Studio B? It's not that funny We'll get back to this because there's some important things in it Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's great The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Here comes your man, the Pixies, there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.22. And old Kesey got a bit of a dilemma on his hands. He's going away for a stag do on the Friday. It's a two-day stag do. There's 20 dudes. Two dudes. And only 10 beds.

6:28Jase:10 doubles. It feels like this guy is doing this on purpose. It doesn't feel like an accident. Yeah. You see what I'm saying? Now, if I was doing a stag do, I would make sure that there was enough accommodation for everybody going. You're not 18. Yeah. Mid-30s. Everybody needs their own bed. Yeah. Feels like this is going to be a horror of a weekend there for you, Tony, man. Okay, also, if you've just joined us, a crucial piece of the puzzle is Mike and Jace are laughing more than they've laughed at anything because they've decided my new name is Tony because my shirt has Tony written on it. Your jacket.

7:03My jacket. And apparently that, like, we work hard every day to come up with ideas for the radio, and Look, this is the most you've laughed at something.

7:11Jase:Sometimes things fall on your lap, Tony. It's like a gift from the gods. Oh, yeah, a gift from the gods. Chris has got Tony written on his shirt. So much gold there. That along with your floaters, of course. But listen, let's get back to the issue at hand here. Yes, please. Because Moggy actually off air had a brilliant suggestion. Well, yeah, the trick is what you've got to do is identify the big noter in the group, the guy that's going to be leading all the – he's going to be going drinking games. He's going to be somebody that's a massive campaigner and is going to get first-night fever and doesn't want to go to bed.

7:49Jase:So you've got to find out who that is now. Yeah. You've probably got a WhatsApp chat or something like that going along. Find out who that is, and then you partner up with that guy. That guy will be awake all night long. You can get a really great sleep and just be a champion all day the second day. Yeah. Because I don't think you'll go well day two on the hammer. Well, that's the problem. The risk I have. You've got to pick your day. Yeah, and also your advice was to have a decent one Friday, but don't go hard. Yes. Go hard Saturday. Responsibly, obviously. Yes. But what about if the guy I choose is a massive campaigner?

8:21What if on the Saturday he's out of gas and he is in the bed? Yes. A lot.

8:25Jase:Yes. You know? Well, yeah, that's the risk you take. You've just got to choose your night. Yeah. Well, I think, you know, if you've had the nice night the night before where you've got some sleep, Kesey, then you become the campaigner on the Saturday. You're not going to bed anyway. Or night one you go hardcore, you fire truck your bed and then no one else wants to sleep in it. Yes. Yeah. Like if you were to shat the bed, for example, no one else is stepping into that filth. That's a great idea actually. The sleeper as well is you go in there and you talk about yourself in the third person. The sleeper.

8:57Jase:The sleeper it is. Yeah, right, okay. And so you just gather everybody around, everyone's having a nice time, a few beers and that, and you just tell everyone to shut up and you're just like, hey, just a word to the wise, Tony ate sheer no bed. As soon as you said in third person, I was like, here we go. I'm going to be referred to as Tony in this one. But, and also, you know, as Mogi suggested too, his first suggestion, because I'll be honest, it's been a long time since I've done a stag do. Yeah. You're joking. You just don't land the plane at all, Tony. What if I ingratiate myself to the group by offering free puncture repair at any of my stores nationwide?

9:43You could do that, Keezy? Yeah. The nice thing about you going as Tony is that it gives you a certain anonymity. It does. Yes. and you can make an absolute tit and arse of yourself, shat the bed, all that sort of stuff, and everyone will go, what about that Tony fella? You know what I mean? Do you think me going but wearing a jacket with Tony written on it is enough for them to forget who I am and think I'm Tony?

10:17Jase:Yes, absolutely. Really? Yeah. Okay, I'll do that. Make an absolute Tony of yourself, Dan. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four. On Radio Horaki. The Big Show Swingers Club is back. And this time, it's going global. Bula. Bula Vinaka. Not far away now, fellas. I don't know what it is about you guys saying that. It just feels racist. Does it? Yeah. I don't know what it is. Sorry, Jase, can you say it? Bula. Racism alert. Racism alert. Hang on. Bula Vinaka. Oh, okay. So it's just Jase. Yeah. Bula Vinaka. Racism alert. Racism alert. Isn't that weird? Because that just triggers automatically.

11:03It's definitely not me playing it. I think it reads subtext. Yeah, it does. It's so weird. G'day, Ali. How's life? Good. Oh, good. Hi. Hi, how are you going? I'm good. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks. What do you do for a crust, Ali? I'm a project coordinator. Oh, back line. Coordinator, more like. Pardon? Huh? Ellie from Welly, do you play golf? I've played a couple of times. I've played probably a bit more mini golf. Yeah. But I could go practice at the driving wax range. Yeah, well, yeah. Don't worry about it. And the thing is, too, Ellie, I mean, you don't have to play golf. Well, I mean, it's a golf trip, but sure, yeah.

11:44I mean, she could just chill out by the pool, have a few cocktails, go to the beach, go to the buffet, just chill, Ellie. No, no, no, no, but Ellie would have to play a game of golf with us because we're there to play golf. Yeah, you would. It's a swingers club after all. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a swingers club. Are you okay with that, Ali? I'm totally okay with that. It'll be fun. Okay, good. And who would you take with you, Ali? My school friend probably, but I don't think she's ever played golf. Oh, that's all right. Yeah, right, okay. We'll pair you with Pugs and Mogey. You should be about even.

12:14Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've played once in the last 20 years, Ali. I think you'll be all right. Yeah, perfect. Oh, okay, that sounds good. That sounds perfect. Beautiful, Ali. You stay on the line and old Pugs and we'll take care of you in line B there. In line B. A studio B. Kieran, you mad bastard, how's life? Good, guys, good. How's Tony going today? Hey, Tony. Hey, Tony. Hey, Tony. Don't you dare. Tony don't like playing no golf.

12:40We have fun. But that'll do. Kieran, man, what do you do for a crust, brother?

12:47Jase:I work for a joinery company in the office doing the pricing. You're a backbone. What a massive backbone. Bay. Tell me, Karen, do you like having a bit of a whack on the golf course? Don't mind that at all, Jase. The nicest place I played was up in Koi Kora, looking out over the South Bay. How good, man. Well, that'd be a hellhole compared to Fiji, brother. Who would you bring with you? Well, my mate up there, Brad, he loves his golf so I'd have to grab him and take him on a road trip with us. Yeah, sounds good, mate. That sounds great. Really good. Will you stay on the line as well, Karen, in Pucks Sam will sort you out, all right?

13:23No worries. Cheers, guys. Thanks, mate. Hey, fellas, let's do one more. Oh, sure, yeah. People are so keen on this. They're so keen. So let's go to... I'm just going to go Walter. G'day, Walter, you mad bastard. How's life? Not bad. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. What do you do for a crust, Walter? I'm a drain layer. Oh, back bone. Back bone. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me, Walter, do you like having a bit of a whack on the golf course? Yeah, I don't mind a little bit of swinging. Yeah, nice.

13:57Jase:Get it in you. Nice. Who would you take with you, Walter? Probably one of my mates. Yeah, probably. Scrap it out. Yeah, yeah, sweet. Good on you, mate. You stay on the line as well, and Pugsam will take care of you. No worries. Yeah. Thank you. Righto, boy. Okay. Okay. Don't forget, this is the Hodaki Swingers Club Fiji edition with Tourism Fiji. It's all thanks to our mates at the Intercontinental, Fiji Golf Resort and Spa. So we'll be playing golf. We'll be having a few responsibles. And then we'll be sparring. Do you guys want a spa? Massage? Oh, yes, absolutely. I think Pugs has organised a few massages.

14:31No, I don't like people touching me. Really? Yeah. But you're so handsy with everyone. Oh, yeah. I don't mind my wife touching me. Right. But no one else. Fiji, where happiness comes naturally. Can't wait, fellas. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Great stuff. Tom Petty there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show.

14:54Jase:Just got a text message that's come through here on 3483 here, fellas. Good afternoon. This is Janine sending a text. If the person who called Janine was Jeremy, I apologise that I missed the call three times. I was in the library having book chat for one hour and could not take the call. Have a good night. cheers from Janine. Thanks, mate. She texts in all the time, yeah. She's a backbun. Do you want to chat TV? Yeah, why not? What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.

15:31Jase:Hey,

15:44Jase:Hey, I tell you, I watched a hell of a movie last night. There on Netflix. It's called The Thursday Murder Club. I think Mogi's having some kind of strain on what's going on. All in us, we're a minute in and we haven't started talking about TV yet. Well, I'm trying. You guys are talking all over me. You've got a hell of an attitude, Tony, I tell you what. The Thursday Murder Club. A couple of Academy Award winners in there. You've got your Ben Kingsley, you've got your Helen Mirren. Great. Pierce Brosnan, Academy Award nominee. It is Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron spend their retirement studying old crimes until a death on their doorstep entangles them in a brand new murder case.

16:24Jase:So they're old folks living in an old folks home. Got about 15 minutes in, it's utter garbage. the worst kind of garbage. Amazing what people will stoop to. Netflix must have been paying a hell of a lot of money to do this. It's like front and centre whenever you go into Netflix. It's Thursday medical. It's right there. And it is as bad as it looks. You know who will love it? Actually, your missus will love it, Kesey. And my grandmothers would love it. Absolutely love it. Is it light-hearted, easy to watch? Yeah, it should be, but it's just annoying. We were completely prepared to watch it knowing what it was going to be.

17:00Jase:Murder Mystery, mildly amusing attempts at heartwarming stuff and all that it was just uttered just not good. But you think my wife would like it? Well it's not too violent and I tell you what, Pierce Brosnan is easy on the eye. Can I just say and I want to make this observation and I said it to my wife funnily enough last night, is it my imagination or is Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren and everything all of a sudden? Well, it was just that one other show, Mobland. Well, yeah, I watched another. There was another one that I saw. Another two I saw last night when we were flicking through, and they had both of them on it.

17:39And I was like, oh, this is interesting. Anyway, in terms of, I've got to talk about this because it was appallingly bad, and it's one of your favourite shows, A Place in the Sun. I got home. I hate that show. Whose favourite show is it? It's your show. Your favourite show. You guys love it. But it was just on, so I was watching it, and it was an absolute doozy because this couple, who were over in Spain looking to buy a little holiday home, their budget was£70 ,000. Right. They wanted something by the sea with a pool, a minimum of two bedrooms and some space out the back.

18:13Jase:Yeah. And they went to all these shitholes everywhere. And like, oh, no. Did they get a piece of concrete overlooking it? Yeah, it was all that sort of stuff. And the woman that was trying to sell them the stuff was going, well, look, obviously with$70 ,000 as your budget, You're going to have to compromise. But they just weren't prepared to compromise. And it was like, I'd just slap them in the face and tell them to piss off. Yeah. Because it was stupid. And then I watched Slow Horses, and that was really good. Nice, man. How many buzzies out of five would you give A Place in the Sun on Living Channel?

18:45That particular episode, four and a half buzzies, because it really got to me. Oh, so it was still good. Yeah, it was great stuff. Good emotional reaction. I was fired up at the end of it. I watched last night. It was a bachelor night for me. Oh, that's right, yes. Mogi just checked how long we'd been talking as soon as I started going. I think it was your last. So I started watching an old Anthony Bourdain episode of, what's it called? Parts Unknown. Yes. They're all on YouTube. They're really cool. Watched one on Columbia. I was like, oh, interesting, Columbia. And it was a really interesting part because he hopped on this old plane, flew to this place in the bush, which was completely run by drug money, like not even that long before.

Read the full transcript

19:28the drug money had left the cartels had been sent out the army now controlled it the entire population now had no jobs everyone had moved away and no drugs because the drug economy ran it all and they were discussing drugs and the impact and he was literally like if there was no cocaine what would it look like and they were like it would be so much better if we could just stop Americans from buying the cocaine and he's like well as a recovering coke addict it's not that easy and he was like yeah I started talking about crack and he was like well I used to be a crackhead and I'm telling you it's not that easy

19:56Jase:Yeah. So interesting. The thing with drugs, they're addictive, Keezy. Watch out, man. But Anthony Bourdain's straight up admitting to being a crackhead and a recovering coke addict. Well, he's already admitted it in his book, hasn't he? Yes. I've seen that episode. I don't know the one you're talking about. It was just interesting. It's very cool that he would have done that. It sounds like a hell of a night in. I'm just picturing old Keezy there sitting on the couch watching Anthony Bourdain episodes, eating pizza, wearing his Tony jacket, and nothing else. I was like, there's going to be a Tony joke in here somewhere.

20:27How's he going to get to it? Here's Iggy. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Iggy Pop there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is four minutes to five o 'clock. Plenty coming up after five o 'clock, including Keezy. He had an audition today. He's going to tell us all about that. And he may need some advice, Mogi. And as his agent, I feel compelled to help him out. You know what I'm saying? I guess. I do need help. Yeah. It was a train wreck.

20:56Jase:I guess I'm reluctant to give you any advice because we sort of go out for the same roles, Keezy, and I don't need you getting good. Yeah, that's true. Also, coming up after five, by the way, I've got a bit of sleep chat because I'm going through a weird... So 34 to 38-year-old studs. Because I thought I was a shoo-in to get Big Honker Man number three, but you must have taken it off me, you bastard. I was Big Honker Man number one. Oh, were you? Jase was number three.

21:24The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your hump day tickety-boo. This is The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options too. Reburger is redefining the norm. Yummy. Yeah, man. I'm actually amazed, actually, Keezy, that you didn't have Reburger on your bachelor night last night. Perfect opportunity. Get a burger in you, the beautiful fries. Yeah, no, I know. We discussed it yesterday, but I just love pizza. I'm a pizza boy.

21:56Jase:But also, you don't want to deprive your lovely wife of the opportunity to share in the Reburger. Reburger should be shared. Yeah, I agree with you, actually, Mogi. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she was like, if she found out that I had Reburger without her, mate, honestly, you don't want to know what would happen. She would lose it. Yeah. And that's all we'll say about my wife for the rest of the show. What, like smash the place up and stuff? No, let's just park it there, because I know that this is going to go down some sort of route where it'll be entertaining. It'll be entertaining and then Pugs will clip it up, put it online and then my wife will see it and then it'll be like, oh.

22:28Jase:And she'll lose it again. She'll lose it. What would she say though? I love it when you do her voice. Pugs, don't use this because I don't want to get in trouble but she'll be like, oh, we're talking about somebody else. Yeah. My wife just doesn't even care anymore. I can see like if you guys ever broke up and it was a really sort of terrible breakup, I could see her like shredding your Tony jacket. as like the ultimate revenge, Keezy. I think it'll be lighter fluid and setting it on fire. Yeah, I was going to say either that or setting it on fire. You really see we have to explain what the hell you're even talking about to people who've just tuned in.

23:07Your Tony jacket, what the hell's your Tony jacket? Well, that's the trick.

23:09Jase:If you want to know, you're going to have to go and listen to our sick podcast where you can hear the whole show. Yes. It comes out every night after 7.30 because old Pugsarm puts it out and we do a little special one, don't we, Keezy? of unique content where you can really get to know the feels. Absolutely. Now, listen, speaking of which. Are we going to explain the Tony thing or just no? Oh, look. Keezy bought a new second-hand jacket. It's a cool denim, very nicely pressed jacket, and on it's written Tony. Okay? It was owned by a guy who worked for a company whose name was obviously Tony because it's got Tony embossed on his left breast.

23:45Jase:Yeah. And because of that, now we've started calling Keezy Tony. And cracking up about it. Like it's the funniest thing the big show's ever done. It's up there, certainly for me. Coming up, we're going to be talking auditions. But in the meantime, here's Stone Temple Pilots. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. David Bowie there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time, 13 minutes past five o 'clock. Fellas, I had another ad audition today. Good stuff, man. Television commercial. Sorry, television commercial audition. TVC. TVC. And I've done a few of them.

24:27It's been a number of months since my last one. And to be honest, we've discussed it before, certainly on the podcast outro. You feel like you go into a sterile room, you write your name down, you put your height and your clothing size, then you walk in. I always used to flag all that stuff. Did you? Yeah, man. You get heaps of commercials, eh? I did. Anyway you do all that And then you go into a room With people you don't really know They have a handy cam And then they get you to do silly stuff Yeah Same thing happened today It was quite early in the morning So I'll be honest Not as onto it in the morning As I am in the afternoon Got in there Met a random guy That I'm doing the scene with We come and we're both playing We're both going for the same role But they get us to do it together And so we're trying to out audition one another

25:11Jase:Sure And I learnt my lines There's only like five lines Really easy I'm not going to say what it was for, but I was essentially like a salesperson. It's confidential, Keezy, you can't. Yeah, I was like a salesperson for a company. Really easy, nothing too out there. And I just kept forgetting my lines. Like not forgetting, like not thinking the gist of it and being like, oh, it's something like seriously, we get to the bit and then my brain would just do a hard reset and delete it all out. Can I just clarify one thing here, please, Keezy? You were saying that a guy was auditioning with you for the same role?

25:45Yeah. That is kind of weird. And so we were taking turns, one being the customer,

25:50Jase:one being the person that works there. 100%. Okay. So you weren't both just playing the same part. No, no, no, no. So I was playing the person, he was playing the server. Okay. And then vice versa. And then, oh, that's, you know, we mixed it up a few times. And the two young women who were running it, they were lovely. They were very, oh, no, don't worry. But I kept being like, oh, my God, I can't remember the – she'd be like, no, just try and keep going. And I couldn't help it. You got the fear, Kesey. You got the fear and once you get the fear, you went into the white room, the white fuzz where you're trying to think of the line and the harder you try, the worse it becomes.

26:24Is that a thing? Yeah, for you. It is a thing. Because, and we've discussed this before, but I am happy on live radio. I don't care. I can go on live TV. I don't care. I could be on a stage in front of heaps of people, not learning lines, but like, you know, emceeing or hosting. I don't give a crap. As soon as I get into a room with two lovely people and a person and a small handicap, all of a sudden I'm in the white room. Yeah. What do I? It's just not for you, man. Well, no, I don't want that. Give it up. No, no, I don't like to.

26:52Jase:Well, call it quits would be another way of putting it. But I mean, how many times is this going to happen before you just say, look, I'm going to stop wasting your time. I'm going to stop wasting my time. Mike, I'm glad you're not my agent, all right? because that's terrible advice. Well, I'm just trying to say, I mean, Jase, this is your call, man, but, I mean, honestly, you've put so much time into this guy. Look, I didn't realise that that had happened, Kesey. Clearly I'm going to have to make some calls. About what? Who are you calling and what are you talking about? I'm clearly going to have to call up the castors and the casting director and apologise.

27:25No, you don't have to. Because I gave you those lines two weeks ago and it wasn't five lines, it was two lines. Are you sure it was two weeks ago and not 9pm last night? This is a horror show for me because I absolutely busted my balls getting you that audition. Did you? You turn up there with two lines and you blow them. I mean, how do you think that makes me look?

27:50Jase:I don't know. Can I say? It makes him look like a goddamn idiot. Yeah, it makes you look a real fool. Makes you look like an absolute drongo. But look, okay, before you cut me, right? Before you turf me out of the industry. Oh, yeah. Because remember, I'm still learning. I feel like this is my fourth audition. I feel like I should have more time to learn. That's true, man. You've got to get more time, James. Thanks, Mike. Thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Did you get loud in the end, man? Yeah. Well, that wouldn't have helped. You shouldn't do that. Oh, what do you mean get it out? Yeah. Well, they're just weeks of desperation.

28:22Jase:That used to be fine back in the day. You can't get loud anymore. Not in 2025, Keezy. I thought you meant get my lines out. Wake up, man. Jeez, this is a horror show. It's shocking. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening. The time is 5.25. Now, Keezy had another audition today for a TVC, otherwise known as a commercial. Yeah. He ballsed it up. It was a shocker. He embarrassed himself and my agency. So what he said is, fellas, could you maybe help me out with your vast experience of said situation and maybe give me a few tips?

29:04Can I just clarify? The lovely ladies who were running it, they actually said, no, you did a great job. If you could just stick that one line, you'd be sweet. And for some reason, my brain started just mixing the words of the last line up and just putting them in a random order. So I think they liked me. You know what I mean? I left it with a good impression. Well, you've got a great look, Keezy. I've got to say. Were you wearing that jacket? I was wearing the jacket. I think you're going to get it. I'm quietly confident. The ones that you think that you've cocked up the worst are often the ones that you get.

29:35You said that to me. I feel like I've cocked up every single audition and I haven't got them. Have you been on the shortlist? Yes. There you go. A few times. What does that mean, though? What does the shortlist mean? It means you're down to the last few and they like what you did. Okay. Specifically, though, we need to figure out your technique in the audition room. because there is a process to it. Right, okay. So today, shall we run through it? Yeah. You guys will be able to play the audition. What are they called? Casting directors. Yes. So today it was literally door open. I'm listening in the waiting room, listening to them do this exact thing I'm about to do.

30:09Well, that's the first mistake you're making. Take some headphones or something, shut yourself off, get yourself in the zone. Really? Yeah. You don't want to be hearing other people because often that can throw you. You hear someone doing the audition in the room and you go, oh, my God, they're really good. Really? Really good. I can't do that.

30:25Jase:You don't want to hear other people. You know how to do it. But you hear other people go, oh, that's a good way of doing it. I'm going to do it like that. Well, you can't do it like that. Only that person can do it like that. That's correct. Yeah, right. I just thought it was good because they were saying the lines and I could hear it. And I was like, oh, that's right. Those are the lines. Yeah, but it buggered you up. Yeah, right. Okay. So put headphones on. Okay. Yeah. So let's say you're the car. And dark glasses as well. Leave them on? Yeah. And headphones. How do I hear when they're calling me in?

30:49Oh, you'll know. Because generally they do come out and they'll wave at you, et cetera. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, all right. Okay, so you guys have waved.

30:56Jase:And smoke a cigarette. Inside? Yeah. And what's the point of that? Oh, you're just, cool. You know, the headphones are glasses, smoking a cigarette, and your jacket that has Tony written on it. And also, yeah, it gives off rebel vibes. Yeah, it's cool. But do they want? In character. Right. Yeah. So I'm already in character. If I was really keen on a part and I had an audition, I'd be doing a bucky bong as they were coming out. So you're smoking illegal drugs? Yeah, yeah. Well, it's frowned upon. It's not technically illegal. Well, it is illegal. I mean, it's illegal. But they would look at me and go, look at this.

31:27This is badass. Yes. Once again, did you get many commercials? So many. Right, okay. Okay, so can we just pretend you guys are the casting director. I'm coming in for you. Just make up the product. Because quite often they did ask me to ad lib. Yeah. Yeah. So, okay, you've called me in? Yes. Okay. Hi. The first thing I do is, g'day, I'm Chris. Oh, g'day, mate. How are you? Yeah, really good. What was your name? I'm Stuart. Stuart. Yeah. Hi, Chris. I'm going to be doing the camera. Hi. What's your name? Tony. I like your jacket. Oh, okay, Flare. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

32:06How good. Rage against the machine there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening. But right now it's time for...

32:16This is Breaking News. Yes, it's time for This is Breaking News. Fellas spotted an article, an international article. You've been reading the paper again. I haven't read the paper again. How many times do we have to tell you not to do that? You get all emotional and upset. I just feel like we need to be more exterior focused on this show. Yeah, exterior. Exterior. Focused. Focused. So in Bournemouth Crown Court, a marine biologist named Emma, she was charged because she ran. Emma Roberts? No. Emma Stone? That's not what the segment is, guys. She's charged with stealing a live crayfish from the tank of a fish market restaurant where you can pick your own food out.

33:02Oh, yeah. She grabbed it out and then ran and threw it in the ocean. Yeah. So she set it free. The crayfish.

33:08Jase:Is crayfish loving it? They didn't get an interview with the crayfish. It's a shame. Yeah. Boys, check your sources. Tony, that's rule number one. Mike, stop calling me Tony. Yeah, so how do you guys feel about this? Because on one hand, I'm like, oh, well done, she's liberated it. Yeah. But on the other hand, it's like, you know, crayfish are pretty yummy. Oh, they are very yummy. When I was in Vietnam, you could go to the markets there and get a couple of crayfish. No joke, split in half, sauces all over it on the grill. $15 New Zealand. But getting back to your point, I'm a really big believer in killing your own food.

33:52Oh, yeah.

33:52Jase:Right. I love it. So, you know, like you'll go to, say, a yum cha restaurant. Yeah. And they'll have the fish and stuff there. Yeah. I'm not into that. they're suffering, so I'll take the fish out, smack its head on the table and just be done with it. And then eat it? And then eat it because it'll be fresh as. Right, so you like to do the killing though. Yes. Yeah, right. I think that's important. I think that's important. Yeah, okay. I've spent quite a few years being vegan, obviously, born and bred many, many years as vegan. Were you born and bred as vegan? Oh, yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah. I come from a long line of vegans.

34:33Jase:and we actually, because my uncles, they were sort of activists more than just living the lifestyle, you know, so it wasn't just that they didn't want to eat foods for their own personal beliefs, they didn't think other people should either. Yeah, right. So oftentimes you'd find yourself sort of going out, you know, you're waking up, getting up in the middle of the night, next thing you know you've got a balaclava on, you know, you're down there at the local zoo that's coming through, the Ringling Circus there, and you're letting out the lions. Yes. You know, setting the lions free. And that's all well and good in theory.

35:07Jase:But you can't do that when it's right next door to, you know, preschool.

35:14Which was shut at the time because it's at night, right?

35:16Jase:Well, it got shut down. Oh. Because the role plummeted. Yeah. Like your intentions were good. Yes, but I didn't think it through, Keezy, and I think that's where things can fall over. Like this lady, you know, it says in that article that was a freshwater cray. Well, she's just killed it. So she's going to hell. Yeah. That crayfish has now died in agony because of it. It has. She actually threw it into the ocean, slammed into the side of a ferry, to do sweat, and then burned down into burning salt water. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones.

36:03You are listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Craveworthy street food freshly made with old Reburger. Yeah. Reburger, b***h. Great stuff. It's good to say, do you don't want to, you don't want to like address anything? or... You feel like I probably should, shouldn't I? Nah. I don't think so, man. Yeah, okay, nah, sweet as, guys. How good's Reburg? Have you tried the chips?

36:31Jase:I've already spoken about the chips today. No, seriously, should I address it? No, no, no, no, you're sweet. No, you're good. Should I just let it go? I'd say, I'd say if you should. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I would have said if you should before. Because I don't want to be going home fretting about it in the car on the way home. Well, you will regardless. Sucking on my vape there, going, oh, God, did I... Should I have apologised for that? Nah, nah, sweet as. If you don't know what we're talking about, listen to the podcast. Wow. Actually, I might have a word with old Pug saying about that because he was appalled.

36:58Jase:I let the Broadcasting Standards Authority decide whether you've got anything to apologise for me. But there was no feedback on the text or anything like that. No, I've had to shut it off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't look at it. Oh, okay. That good, eh? Nah, nah, nah, nah. Let me just check. Nah, the last text was Tony Pepperoni nips, question mark. It's true. That's true, 100 % true. That's not my nickname. Oh, okay, good. Well, that's good. Sometimes I want people to understand, you know, you're having a bit of fun. Well, that's right. You are. You know what I mean? But you're sure. I mean, I'm sure.

37:29I'm sure, you? Yeah, okay, good. I mean, I haven't done anything. So why would I? Yeah, I'm sweet. Listen, fellas, I've got a golf tawny coming up, and I've got a few issues with it that I want to bring up with you next, if that's all right. Absolutely, man. Sounds good. Good stuff. Oh, shit. Is this she hard? It is, yeah, man, it is. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Guns. Rose is there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening. Hey, fellas, do we have time for a bit of golf chat? Yeah. Golf chat with Double Bogey Mogey. Four!

38:15Jase:I've got a lot of juice out of this sting. I just love it because we went through a phase of making sure every sting was hosted by one of us. Yes. And so now that one doesn't make any sense because Jase wants to talk about it. I played golf once. Now, fellas, I'm not going to punish you. It's not really about golf. I've got my first ever golf. Turn that sting off, man. I've got my first ever golf tournament on Sunday. Sounds like it's about golf. and I was sent through all the rules for this particular tournament. No cheating. No cheating, basically. Now, I've also been sent through who I'm going to be playing my round with.

38:50And I don't want to name names here, and I'm not going to, okay? But let's just say one of the people that I'm doing the round with does breakfast radio on this station. Jerry was busy. Jerry couldn't make it, eh? Jerry couldn't make it. Yeah, yeah. Now, this particular person, how do I put this? He's a cheating bastard. This particular person is very loose on the scoring front. For example, you might be playing a par four. He'll get a lazy eight and put it down as a solid six. Well, I don't know if that's... It's not legal.

39:29Jase:You're right, Keezy. No, it's not. I mean, he's a filthy cheat. The way he does it, because he genuinely hit me up and was upset about this, this person who I won't name. Yeah. who does breakfast radio show on the station. And is not Jeremy Wells. And isn't Jerry. What he does is if he hits a ball out of bounds, he'll just add another shot and add one. That's actually adding two. So he'll be like, oh, yeah, cool, I got a seven. But actually, I was like, but you don't want to be the guy who's going, actually, you've got an eight. But Jase is playing in a tournament where that all comes into it.

40:01And there's prizes and meat packs and all sorts to be won. Now, the question I have is do I call it out if I see it or do I just carry on and play by the rules, Hoity J?

40:13Jase:Well, I think the buy and large will leave the rules to the stewards. There'll be stewards that line the course and they'll be keeping an eye on all the players. You could just have a word, just say, keep a close eye on this bastard over here, would you? You know what you could do? I just thought, because I know you're in groups of three and I was supposed to be in this tournament too, but I've got a staggy on. you could talk to your third person, as long as it's not someone that you've wronged in any way by stealing all of their chips constantly every day for the last, like, three months, I reckon they'll back you up.

40:45Yeah. Who is your third person? Well, he's a cheating bastard as well. Is it G Lane? It's G Lane. Yeah. But he can give it. And just on Jerry, Jerry Wells, by the way, very good golfer. He is playing, Keezy. He is actually playing. He's in another group, yeah. He's also a cheating bastard, but he does it by the law. So he'll go, fellas, look, I'm actually able to move this ball to a better position here. You're allowed to do that because of blah, blah, blah and blah. And he'll blind you with the law. You know what I mean? And Kesey and I will go, oh, okay, well, if that's the...

41:19Jase:Well, it's sort of like in Scrabble, isn't it? When someone plays a word and you don't know whether you should challenge it or not and the other person's so confident that it is a word that you don't challenge, but it's not a word. They are cheating bastards. That's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. I just don't know whether I... He's not in my group, by the way. he's ahead of me. No, you've got G-Lane and Manon are anonymous. Yes. I think what you do is just cheat as well. If they're cheating. Okay, yeah, good. You cheat. With a clear conscience. With a clear conscience and take home the prizes.

41:46Oh, yeah.

41:46Jase:With any luck, they'll have lots of chips there as a prize. Yeah, Jase, you've got to steal the chips. You can win the prize for the biggest honker.

41:56No cheating required, brother. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in. Weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Queens of the Stone Age here on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this Wednesday evening. Now, exciting news for all you cricket fans out there. The Black Clash is back, baby. What is it called again? The Black Clash is back, baby. That's right. The Hot Spring Spa, T20 Black Clash, in association with Wolfbrook. It's happening January 17th. It's always a good start to the year. The Big Show comes back for that week. Come back early from holidays, man. Come back early from holidays.

42:32And we're into it. We're at the Black Clash. We're in the hot tub. Jase is on the mic to two billion people worldwide. Well, we'll see in that regard. Fielos. Oh, everything's up in the air, isn't it? It's all up in the air. Even next year's up in the air. We don't know. We just don't know. It's a long time away, but listen, it is one hell of a good night out. It certainly is, Jase. Pre-sale will be happening soon, but you can sign up now and get the alert for when pre-sale does happen. Head to blackclash.co.nz. They'd be first in line to secure your tickets. It sells out every year. It's a huge event.

43:0750 ,000 first-class runs, right? This is one of the wild cards. Yes. Okay, 50 ,000 first-class runs. A legend, they call him Mr. Cricket. Who is it? What do they call him? Mr. Crick. Mike Hussey. Mike Hussey is correct. Ding, ding, ding. And also, up against him, another one of the wild cards. They call him the Sexy Camel. What's his name? They do. Oh, soothy. Tim Salyan. Tim Salyan. That seems crazy. He's still very much in form, you know what I mean? No, he's not. And I think he's actually – Not in, like, top-level form. He's actually been helping coach the English side.

43:44Jase:I think he's been over, actually. He's playing in the 100 competition in England at the moment. Yes, yes. He's got Tret Boltz in his side. There's a listening of Kiwis in there, coached by Daniel Vittori, I think, or maybe McCallum, one of them. So, anyway, it's just a big piss-drinking exercise. from what I can understand. Yeah, pretty much. From what I can understand. Punch a few durries. He'll be highly competitive, I can tell you that. He takes his cricket very seriously. Of course, Michael Hussey, hell of a player. Yes. And one of the few likeable Australians that's ever walked the earth.

44:13Jase:Terrible commentator. That's a fact. Really? What would you say his average was in tests there, Jase? I would actually argue probably in the 50s. You'd be right. Wow. 51.52. Yes, that's great. Across 79 tests and 6 ,200 runs and across his 185 ODIs. What would you say there? Oh, I don't know. 40s? Yeah, 48.15. Holy cow. Yeah, he is a hell of a player. And he was one of those guys, Mogie, who took ages to get into the Australian side. And everyone was always going, oh, what about this Mike Hussey? And he never got a chance. And then when he did, he grabbed it by the bullos. He grabbed it with both hands, Keezer.

44:51Jase:Both hands. The opportunity was so big, he grabbed it with both hands. Right. Like, imagine Mogi eating a bag of chips. Right. And then I'm sitting there watching Jase double fist those chips. Yeah, right. Okay, so I'm imagining you eating a bag of chips and Jase is reaching in and two fists. Yeah, he's trying to double fist it. Because he thinks he's never going to see another chip in his life. That's how hard Mike Hustley went. You know how they call Jase Mr. Chips? Yeah. They call Mike Hustley Mr. Cricket. Is that where he got his nickname? After Jase eating chips? But tell you what, Bay Oval, great ground.

45:27It's always a good evening. so make sure you get involved. That's right. January 17th, under lights, blackclash.co.nz. Sign up for your pre-sale tickets right now, fellas. Nice. At gmail.com, get in touch with the fellas. With the fellas. Do we think we might be ruining that sting a wee bit by just sort of randomly singing over time?

46:08Well, I am doing it properly. I'll just say that. I'm singing it nicely. Mogi sounds like, again, he's having a stroke. That's all I'm going to say on it, Keezy. All right, we should think about maybe not.

46:23Jase:Well, I think these things, they naturally grow and change and evolve. Can I say that? Yeah. You can say it. And I can also say that I absolutely love that song. It's my favourite song. It's pretty good. Ever. Wow. G'day, Fiala. Oh, this is from Anonymous. By the way, if you're listening, you know what we're talking about. I hate the Anonymous chat, don't you? 46:58G'day, fellas. Anonymous here. I have a close mate in Scotland who's managed to secure tickets to all three of the All Blacks end-of-year tour games in the UK. Who are they playing? Scotland, England, and Wales. I've been told I'd have to pay for said tickets to each game, but if I can get myself over there, I would have free accommodation sorted for the majority of the three-week trip throughout the UK. Okay. After hearing Keezy and Moggy regale us on their European adventures, I feel like I simply must take this opportunity. The one issue I face is I'm scheduled to have a knee surgery six days prior and to my required takeoff date, a torn meniscus and MCL.

47:38So he would be pretty much immobile. It would be very difficult getting around. If I decide to pull out of the surgery, the cost will not be covered and it will likely cost me an astronomical amount down the line. I have the ability to cover the expenses of the UK trip and I would be on ACC so leave wouldn't be an issue. Right. Help me out here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. What should I do?

47:57Jase:What kind of knee surgery was it? MCL and meniscus. Right. So he's torn it badly, obviously, like maybe a footy injury or basketball. Wow. And he's saying six days prior to going on like a 24-hour. Yeah, but he's also saying if he doesn't do it then, then he's going to have to pay for it when he gets back. Yeah, so it's funded now if he goes, yeah. Right, but it's not if he doesn't do it. If he cancels. Yeah. That's a tough one. Well, you'd be on crutches, wouldn't you? Yeah. You would. Two to six weeks. And from what you guys were telling me, there's a lot of cobbled streets in Europe. No, well, not...

48:30So uneven surfaces. Not where he's going. Oh, not Wales. Yeah, okay, yeah. It's more your Spain. One thing you've got to learn, Jase, the difference between UK and Europe. And you'll learn that when you go over there next year.

48:40Jase:Yeah, it's a tricky one, isn't it? Yeah, I mean, look, you don't get these opportunities often, do you? Free accommodation. But also... And how often do you get to see the All Blacks get pumped by Scotland England and Wales. That's true. Yeah. But you also... Just go. You just don't want to put yourself in that situation if you're in a fair amount of pain. Oh, you'll be right. And hobbling. You'll be on medication and stuff. Exactly, you'll be on meds. Yeah, that's true. On the flight you won't feel a thing. You've got to get yourself a good... Nah. You've got to get yourself a good seat where you can extend your leg out.

49:13Jase:Yeah, sure. Right, so you're suggesting that, okay. Because what you guys were telling me, because you'll have your stopovers too, which are usually between 8 and 16 to... Oh, no, it says he's got like a two-hour one. Oh, right. Oh, lucky bastard. Yeah, I don't know how he's got that. Yeah, just do it. Do it. Pop the pills and get over there. Yeah, I mean, take a doctor's advice unless he disagrees with us. Yeah. I mean, who are you going to listen to? The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

49:52Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for your Wednesday night. What a joy it's been as well. Well, we may have taken a few steps too far, old Hoity J in particular, but that's just part of live radio. Now, on the podcast outro today, which is bonus material, what's the clip today, Keezy? It is bonus material. It comes out at 7.30 tonight. Search Hodaki Big Show, wherever you get your potties from. This one is about my stag mate, apparently. So I know one person really well He's my best mate down in Christchurch there Who I go and have a hot tub with Who I'm having an affair with You might as well insert that Before Chase does And I'm banging him on the side Did you hear that Pugs?

50:33Can you clip that off?

50:38You're a real piece of shit Pugs son I said it like that In hopes that you wouldn't clip it off What does he do? He clips it off

50:44Jase:He just does as he's told man He does more than that man And I don't see what the problem is There's no judgement or, you know, I think it's great that you're open about it. When I say I'm banging a dude, I'm like being sarcastic. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know what sarcasm is? Yes, I do. I don't. Hey, now listen. Go and check out the podcasts. Go and check out the Instagram account too. I think we chuck some stuff on Facebook and YouTube as well. Yeah, so the way it works, Jase, is you've got Radio Hodaki as a Facebook page. but the big show has its own Instagram and Pugs actually did just chuck together a new Instagram clip which is up on our page now it's me and Mogi making a European itinerary for Hoody J oh really what's it on?
