The hosts hype the event, give viewing-number trivia, run a “Friday Throbber” song-voting game, and chat with Black Clash/Team Cricket participants. They also promote Reburger street food, free Backbone T-shirts, and ticket giveaways; listeners can text 3483 for a Reburger voucher.

0:10Keyzie:To the Hoda Ki Big Show. Really Big. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. It's great to have you coming. It's a glorious Friday afternoon, the 15th of January, 2026. and you, you mad bastards, are listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.
0:32Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, that's right. Freshly made street food, custom made at Reburger. Is that not how you say it? It's been way too long. Close enough. I can't remember. By the way, Jase, it's the 16th of jam, but good start, mate. What does it say here on the sheet? The 15th. That's Pugs' fault.
0:50Keyzie:I tell you what I'm not close enough to, and that's old Mogey, you stallion. How's life? Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. Isn't it a joy to be here in the Mount Maunganui with Keezy? This is Keezy's stomping ground. We saw when we turned up, people absolutely love the bastards. Yeah, yeah, totally.
1:11Mike Minogue:Do you hear that? That is the sound of the Mount Maunganui audience absolutely loving Keezy. Nothing but crickets. It is great to be back. And the fact that we get to start the year back down here in Mount Maunganui. Bruko, by the way, on the main street, come on down. It's 100 % free, by the way. Someone asked me for tickets. I was like, no, come down. It's free. Come along. We're going to have a few players from the Black Clash stopping by after 5 o 'clock. And then tomorrow as well, thanks to our mates at Export Ultra, there's actually going to be a pre-game situation here with a free lift to the ground.
1:40Mike Minogue:Oh, how good. So it's absolutely worth coming along.
1:42Keyzie:I tell you what, fellas, I'm absolutely stoked to be here and to see all these backbones. What do we think of the new Backbone T-shirt, by the way?
1:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, I mean, I like it.
1:52Keyzie:Yeah, you like?
1:53Mike Minogue:Yeah, we've got a brand new...
1:55Keyzie:It's sexy as, man. It's really hugging my buzzy. I'm loving it.
2:00Mike Minogue:It looks great on you, Jase. We have got brand new Backbone shirts, debuting them today. So if you come along, we've got a whole lot of free ones. Bruko, Mount Maunganui. Make sure you do come down. Fellas, huge show.
2:11Keyzie:Yeah, look, massive show. I mean, we've had like four weeks off. You can imagine the content that's been piling up over that time. We'll be getting into it throughout the day.
2:21Mike Minogue:You've had five weeks off. Shall we get into Kings of Leo? Oh, yeah, that's true. 3483, if you need anything, New Zealand, feel free to give us a text. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
2:34Keyzie:Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show, live from Brew Bar in beautiful Mount Maunganui. It's called Brew Co. Oh, Brew Co.
2:44Mike Minogue:Brew Co, Mount Maunganui. Second time here, too, so we should know the name of it. If you are in the area, come on down. It's the official Black Clash warm-up party, thanks to Export Ultra.
2:52Keyzie:I'll be honest with you, their fellows, I was a bit flustered because I went out for a vape in the break there, and full woman in full bikinis just walked past, and I was like, what's this carry-on? And I don't say that in a pervy way, Mogey. You shouldn't be vaping in the woman's toilets, Jase. I don't know how many times we've got to tell you there, brother. You're a sick bastard, but you always have been. Yeah, that's true.
3:11Mike Minogue:Actually, just on that, I've actually got a bone to pick. She already, Keezy. I got a bone to pick. I got a bone to pick. Tune. First day back on air today
3:22Keyzie:I am fizzing for it
3:26Mike Minogue:Yeah and Jase I know you're fizzed up for it mate The reason I can tell you're fizzed up for it Because you were 10 minutes late to work today On the first day of the year It was 20 Was it 20? Yeah 20 minutes late first day of the year and you show up late Is this how you want to start the year man? Teasing Because if so let's just call it You had five weeks off man
3:44Keyzie:Fellas Let me just say I awoke this morning Oh, God. And my absolutely beautiful wife was lying there with her lovely dark hair just billowed and fanned out across the pillow. And I was aware of the fact that it was my first day back at work and, you know, that was sort of nagging away. But there's always time for lovemaking, fellas. Doesn't she work Monday, Friday? No, she has Friday off. So I do admit there was an hour and a half of lovemaking which may have set me back a little bit. And they had the traffic lights on to get on the motorway. It was a hurrah of a mess. What was? The traffic. Getting on to the motorway.
4:32Keyzie:So I apologise. It's a very poor form to start the year that way, Kiesa.
4:35Mike Minogue:It's just that I actually screenshotted the traffic from your exact address to work at the time and there was literally no traffic on the old maps there, so that's a lie.
4:44Keyzie:Okay, it might have been two hours of lovemaking. that I was doing. You know, when you're in the throes of passion, fellas, it's very hard. I mean, I'm not sitting there looking at my watch the whole time. I'm immersed in the process. Immersed in the process. Yeah. When is the last time you made love, Jase? Six months ago, maybe.
5:06Mike Minogue:If you are in the area, though, make sure you do come down to Boruko, Mount Maunganui, because this is the official warm-up party for the Black Clash. We've got Backbone Tees on offer. Backbone. Backbone. Exactly. That guy gets it. Is this the phoois? Oh. Holy shit. Now we're talking. Crank it. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
5:30Keyzie:Gone Away There, The Offspring, on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this glorious Friday afternoon, live from Bruko and beautiful Mount Maunganui. Come on down if you're in the area. I actually had that song, Gone Away There by The Offspring, played at my stepfather's funeral. It was my choice. Right. Great man, great man.
5:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, I hate that song. Hey, fellas, obviously we're down here at the Mount for the Hot Spring Spa T20 Black Clash and Association with Wolfbrook.
5:56Keyzie:Yeah, man.
5:58Mike Minogue:Good stuff, Keezy. Thanks, man. I just said the name of the event.
6:02Keyzie:I mean, it's a real bloody mouthful. Oh, it's a mouthful, man. I can handle it.
6:06Mike Minogue:Yeah, you wrapped your mouth around it beautifully. Yeah. Beautiful. You sure did. You show me a name, I can't wrap my mouth around it. I'll show you plenty. I'll show you someone who's wrong. But obviously, Jase, you are commentating again. Yes. It's yourself. You've got Minaya Stewart from the Hodaki Breakfast Show and former Hodaki Breakfast host, now ZB host, Matt Heath. Yes. You guys will all be doing the commentary there, which is bloody exciting. Did you know it is the highest viewership televised event in TVNZ history? Yeah.
6:36Keyzie:Yes, I did know that, Kesey. And every time I do it every year, Mogi likes to remind me that there's over a million viewers for this particular occasion. That's right. It's more. It's a hell of a way to kick off your year, the old black clash, I'll tell you that much. Can I say well over a million? It's well over. Because, of course, Keezy, you're saying it's the biggest live event in the history of New Zealand, and you're right. But that doesn't take into account that it's broadcast live into Australia via the Fox network. Fox tell you. Seven million viewers in Australia. And they're very, very hard.
7:10They've got a wealth of sports broadcasters over there, or something very, very hard on their commentators. You must be nervous, mate.
7:17Keyzie:Look, you know, Moggy, I'm an old dog. You know, I'm an old horse. Aren't you an old Ram car? Well, I've been an old Ram car as well, but I got back to my lovemaking, as I said, over the holidays. But, look, you've got to put that sort of stuff out of your mind. Yeah. The fact that there's probably 8.2 million people listening to you is by the by, as far as I'm concerned.
7:38Mike Minogue:It's actually, Chase, this is bloody exciting, because you know how the Black Clash grows every year. Yeah. This year, they're actually broadcasting into India. Wow. Because they love their cricket over there, man. How many people? Yeah, they do. Three billion over there. Yeah, okay. Yeah, and two billion will be watching. Yes. That's a lot. Yeah, so. You must be feeling a few nerves, shall we?
7:58Keyzie:Well, I mean, you know, if you're chucking up a couple of two billion on their mogi, yeah, I guess, you know, my buttocks do clench a little bit when I think about those sort of numbers.
8:07Mike Minogue:Because you get anxious about that stuff, eh?
8:09Keyzie:Oh, no, man, I'm tickety-boo. You know, I'm... Yeah, right. As I say, I've been doing this a little while now, and I just focus on the job at hand, and I don't think about the 2.2 billion people that are listening to what I'm about to say. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's probably the best way to go. Yeah, and that's the listenership of the show. Because if you did start thinking about it... Yeah, I mean, if you started thinking about 2.2... I mean, you could be all over the place. Oh, I mean, you could be, because, you know, the most important part of any broadcast is that initial sort of series of lines you've got to deliver.
8:37Oh, the monologue. Introducing it, setting the scene, creating excitement, getting the audience well in behind you. It's the sort of thing, if you bugger that up, the whole thing comes off the rails, doesn't it?
8:47Keyzie:Yeah, it really can. I'll tell you what. Can I tell you a little secret? What I do to calm me down is I imagine Kesey and his Speedos with his massive meat patty nips, and it just really kind of chills me up. It makes me feel happy inside. It's good, isn't it? Because you think to yourself, no matter what happens, it could be worse.

9:52Mike Minogue:Well, speaking of delicious food, fellas, I was chatting to my parents. I was on the phone to them last night, and they heard we were coming down for the Black Clash, coming to the Mount. Of course, they're from Tauranga. They're from beautiful Te Puna. Te Puna. And they actually offered Sunday morning, when we're heading back for the entire Hauraki team to come round for a team breakfast hosted by Mon and Don, my parents. Wow. Would you guys be open to that? Just for an hour.
10:19Keyzie:The only thing is, Keezy, I'm going to be there Saturday night. So, I mean, I'll be waking up there anyway. Because, of course, they knew I was coming down, so they invited me over to save the night and just to hang out with Don after the game tomorrow. Sweet. Well, I'll be keen if you're making breakfast. Yes, I'll make breakfast for you, Mogie. Because I'm not keen if your mum's making breakfast here, Keezy. Mogi, she's a shock and buzzer.
10:42Mike Minogue:She does do a very dry... Mogi, you be very careful, all right, with Mon and her amazing cooking.
10:47Keyzie:She does do a very dry hashy, I found. I mean, look, don't get me wrong. I appreciate the efforts that she makes, and the scrambled eggs were an abomination. But the bacon was good, but she did that in the deep fry, the air fry. So you can't really get that wrong, can you?
11:04Mike Minogue:Yeah, she air fried the bacon. Well, look, I mean, look, if you don't want to come around and have my mum's really dry hash brown and burnt bacon, that's fine. It was just an offer. Yes. I'm going to stop by. Yep. And, you know, Pugs is welcome to come as well and whoever else is in the area. Look, I'm keen as. Okay. I've never been, and it's not so much for the food. I just want to see where Keezy grew up. I want to do a tour of the bedroom. I imagine it's exactly the same as you left it, you know, two years ago when you moved out there. Yeah. It's sort of a, you've got all your things, you've got your bubble over your bed and all that sort of stuff.
11:38I can't wait. I can't wait.
11:40Keyzie:I've got to be honest with you, Mogi, the first time I actually stayed there, I did stay in old Keezy's room. Did you? Mon said, yeah, you can stay in Keezy's room. Were you the one that touched my train set? Yeah, I had a bit of a tutu with your train set.
11:54Mike Minogue:Because I had that set up perfectly.
11:55Keyzie:And then Mon, she had a little blush and she had a little chuckle and she said, he's still got his penthouses and playboys under the mattress there. But it was actually, there was something very special about it, seeing all the sort of racing cars, wallpaper and stuff like that, the Donald Duck duvet. It was kind of sweet in its own kind of way, you know what I mean?
12:16Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. Actually, I just had a text from Mum, she's not keen anymore.
12:20Keyzie:Oh, really?
12:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's a shame. That is disgusting. Yeah.
12:25Keyzie:I mean, I'll still be there anyway, geezer.
12:27Mike Minogue:You don't want to quickly apologise to my Mum at all, just quickly here with 20 seconds. Oh, absolutely. I'm genuinely sorry that we won't be able to make it on Sunday morning. Oh, no, I meant about the... OK, never mind. Here's the black keys. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey.
12:44Keyzie:Living colour there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this glorious Friday afternoon, live from Bruko and beautiful Mount Maunganui. If you're in the area, by the way, come on down and say g'day. Grab yourself a nice cold beer and a pottle of onion rings.
13:01Mike Minogue:In a pot, they come on a plate.
13:03Keyzie:Oh, but it's at a plate, is it?
13:04Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. Do you want to chat TV here?
13:06Keyzie:Yeah, sure, why not? That sounds great. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
13:17Keyzie:Yes.
13:22Mike Minogue:Yes. Yes. Yes.
13:31I watched a ton of stuff over the holidays here, fellas. I've got a huge list of things. I've got where I watch them. I've got what score I've given them, how many buzzies, all that sort of thing. But Jake's just prior to us coming on air here. You said that you watched one of my recommendations.
13:44Keyzie:I did, yes. And can I say this, Moggy? Generally speaking, your recommendations are to be admired, and I go off your recommendations. and I was reminded over the holidays of a particular movie that you mentioned you said you fellas absolutely have to watch this movie it is magnificent it's a classic and it's the old tin cup yeah tin cup tin cup Kevin Costner is a down and out sort of golf pro he used to be good now he's garbage he lives in a caravan he sort of bleeds money off of woman here and there he's an old charmer alcoholic yes Don Johnson is a former mate of his. He's a pro on the tour.
14:29He comes to town.
14:30Keyzie:Yeah. Can I just say, right from the get-go, it was shit. And we're watching this movie, and I was saying to my wife, no, no, it's going to get better because Mogi says it's a classic. And I was going, you know, it's going to be really good, I'm sure of it. And about ten minutes in, she was like, so Mogi recommended this? Ten minutes? Yeah, but then we went for another. We watched the whole thing. The only part of it I liked was at the very end where he just kept hitting the same shot until he made it. But other than that, half a Buzzy from Hoity J. Half a Buzzy out of five. Half a Buzzy out of five.
15:12I can't believe you watched it.
15:14Keyzie:I hate that. What about you, Kesey? What did you get into? A bit of gaming porn? What the hell does that mean? You know, gaming porn. Yeah, gaming porn.
15:28Mike Minogue:There's no such thing. Trust me, if there was such a thing as gaming porn, I'd be all over it. Right, okay. Last night, I watched Location, Location, Location. What happened? Two couples. Very indecisive. And so they'd always lose the house because they took too long to decide on it. One couple had gone to over 100 open homes. Wow. Yeah, how crazy is that? That's insane, Keyeson. I hate to move away from that, chat, but you give me an idea about a new video game we should make called Pornstar, and you start out and you just sort of make pornography at home and you have to work your way up to being a star.
16:07And you go through lovemaking scenes and you're one of the characters in the scene and you have to go in there and, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, I like it. I like it.
16:15Keyzie:I could see Pugs being all over that, to be honest with you.
16:20Mike Minogue:They didn't end up getting the house, by the way. They pulled out at the last minute. Did they? Yeah, it was a real down buzz, actually. Anyway, it's good to be back doing TV chat on the radio, fellas. This is good shit. Radio head. June. It is June. If you are in the area, Bruko, Mount Mamanui, come on down. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.
16:42Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Radio head there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. afternoon live from Bruko in the beautiful Mount Longanui. And let me tell you, we've got a massive hour coming up. The first throbber of the year, fellas, are we fizzing? Frothing.
16:59Mike Minogue:Frothing? Yeah, boy. I'm fizzing. First throbber of the year. Can't wait, fellas. And I've got a good feeling about this year for me and the throbber.
17:06Keyzie:Well, you can't have had a worse one than you had last year. Okay, James. 13-week losing streak. That was a record. Yeah, I think it was. It was
17:14Mike Minogue:a record. You're right. But this year, I've had a long, hard think. And I know what I did wrong. Oh, really? I figured it out. Oh, I can't wait to see.
17:21Keyzie:He chose terrible tunes?
17:22Mike Minogue:Yeah, something like that. Also coming up after five, a couple of big names from the Black Clash coming through to have a bit of a chat. No idea who it is so far. I was chatting to the lovely lady Kylie who organises it. She said, I'll just see who I can track down. Okay. Who still sounds, you know, sort of semi-intelligible on the radio. Well, they're all big names, Keezy. They're all big names.
17:39Keyzie:They are. Keezy, can I ask you, say the people that are watching this show live at the moment in the bar wanted to win maybe a ticket to the Black Clash. How could they do that potentially?
17:49Mike Minogue:That's a real nice little lob up for me to just whack there, Jase. You can go on your Instagram there. Yes, okay. If you've got it. If not you, someone at your table will have Instagram. My Insta, yeah, I'm there. Take a photo of either the set up here or whatever it is, or you and your mates enjoying the bar. Yes. Tag Mount Bruko. Yeah. Bruko Mount is the thing. Tag T20 Black Clash and Hauraki Big Show, and then we'll be giving out some free prizes for those that are here today. 18:37Keyzie:Well, it is in fact for Friday, Robba, and we are live from Bruko in beautiful Mount Mamanoia. I tell you what, it's going off here. Yeah, that's more like it. People are loving us, man. They're loving it. Hey, if you're in the area, come on down. You can win free tickets. You can win all sorts of stuff.
18:55Mike Minogue:You certainly can, fellas. We are here. Thanks, our mates at Export Ultra. And tomorrow is the official warm-up party for the Black Clash. If you want to get a bit of a warm-up going tomorrow, Arvo, and then get a free lift to the stadium, there is numbered seating. But come on down to Bruko, Mount Manganui. Come tonight. Enjoy the live show. Pitch a tent out front. A big part? No, I meant like an actual tent. Oh, right, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not like getting an erection. Right, okay. No, that's cool. Because I thought you meant an erection.
19:23Keyzie:I mean, if people want to pitch an erection, they can. Pitch an erection? Well, no, pitch one. A tent. I mean, if dudes are going to wander around here with erections, I've got no problem with that. You love it.
19:33Mike Minogue:Literally everyone else does.
19:34Keyzie:Oh, right, okay.
19:35Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. But it is a Friday throbber. The way the throbber works when we are on the road is we each play a little snippet of the songs we want to win. All right, so Jase, you'll go first, then me, then Mogi. Oh, Mogi. And it's based on audience reaction here live at the event. Yeah. That's how it works when we are live on the road.
19:54Keyzie:Can I ask if this time is there any jeopardy for the loser? Oh. I like sculling a little hit flask of, not a flask, a little schooner maybe of shot glass. That's what I was looking for. Of Tabasco sauce or something.
20:11Mike Minogue:Nah, I don't think so, man. Yeah. It's the first show back, man. Yeah. Come on, take it easy, because you know what's going to happen. Oh, Keezy's going to... You're going to lose. Oh, me. All right, so let's get the first offering underway. Jase, I believe this is your offering for the Friday Throbber.
20:31Keyzie:Come on, people!
20:32Mike Minogue:They hate it.
20:37Mike Minogue:Blue Lady. Wow. It's a great song. The amazing thing about that is that song came out, Nobody Here Was Born. Yeah. So it's a good choice. A throwback. It's a classic New Zealand tune.
20:51Keyzie:Come on, people.
20:52Mike Minogue:All right, well, I'm up next. And if no one was born for that song, no one was definitely born for my song.
21:03Mike Minogue:Hey, did somebody just boo it?
21:10Mike Minogue:It is going off here at Bruko, Mount Mogadui. People are loving it. Keezy, surefire. But we have to play the game. So, Moggy, you can go next with your salon, bro. What is it?
21:27Woo! Bit of scribe, baby. Can't go wrong. Get it in you. We don't even need to replay this, just tell you this bastard. Let's go. Yeah, yeah.
21:41Mike Minogue:All right, you've got your songs. Scribe and two songs from the late 1800s. We will return and one of those songs will be chosen as the winner. In the meantime, feelers, we're going to have to turn down the scribe and fire up the Arctic Monkeys. Yeah, boy. Bruko Maumanganui, if you are in the area, make sure you come on down. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
22:08Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Welcome back to the Big Show live from Bruko in beautiful Mount Maunganui. It is the first throbber of the year, fellas. We've each picked our tunes. And the audience here, the live audience, are going to be the ones that decide the ultimate winner, though I suspect we already know what that is.
22:26Mike Minogue:Don't be like that, Jase. Don't be like that, man. You never know, man. You never know. You never know. So, Jase, you, my friend, are going first. Hell of a tune, can I say? It is a hell of a tune. Blue lady. Blue lady, baby. Hey!
22:40Keyzie:Hey! Whoa! Oh, okay. We'll do it. Yeah. Got myself a blue lady. The only song that people hate more than that one is Keezy's.
22:56Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's true. See, this is why I lost the throuba last year, because you guys... Hang on, man. Louis Louis is on. Yeah. Woo! People are booing. No, they're not. All I can see is people absolutely loving it. All right, so that's my offering.
23:20Keyzie:Can I just say, after gauging that reaction, that we get the shooter of Tabasco sauce ready?
23:29Mike Minogue:Jase. You can stuff it up your ass, mate. Let's hear Mogi's offering.
23:36Yeah.
23:45Mike Minogue:All right, all right, all right, all right, okay. All right, so here we go, the official vote. Here we go. Who wants to hear Jace's song Blue Lady? Not bad.
23:57Keyzie:Not bad, Kesey.
23:58Mike Minogue:Not bad. Who wants to hear Keezy's song, Louie Louie?
24:06Mike Minogue:Oh, man, I've got to stop doing these problems. And who wants to hear Mogi's song from Scribe? Yeah.
24:14Keyzie:Look, from my perspective, that's Nick and Nick, actually. That's real close now. Mogi, you're the winner today, I think. Yeah. Let's rip into it, eh? A little bit of Scribe.
24:25Mike Minogue:Hell, yeah. Not many of the remixes. Savage and David Dallas as well. and this is playing on Hauraki, just a reminder. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.
24:37Keyzie:Scribe, the first Friday thromber of the year. Your champion is Mogey. Yeah.
24:44Mike Minogue:Yeah, if you've just joined us on Radio Hauraki, old Mogey's won the first thromber of the year by playing Scribe.
24:49Keyzie:True story, actually, Mogey. When I was looking, I thought about that song myself. Same. Yeah.
24:56Mike Minogue:I thought you'd go with Blue Lady.
24:57Keyzie:I thought I'd go with blue lady, but hey, you've got to live with the choices you make, Mogey.
25:01Mike Minogue:You do, and we're off, and the scoreboard has already won Neil to Mogey. No surprises there. Joining us on the commentary now, fellas, bloody exciting. We've got a whole host of big names coming through to celebrate the fact that the Black Clash is tomorrow. Still tickets available, by the way, blackclash.co.nz. But joining us for the first time ever, William Wairua. Welcome to the show. Hey, boys. Hey. Hey, mate. How's it going? No, it's all afternoon. No, it's all afternoon. Oh, that's all good, man.
25:23Keyzie:That's all good. Yeah. You excited about tomorrow? or are you just shitting your pants a little bit?
25:29Mike Minogue:Definitely the latter. Yeah, yeah. I'm not much of a cricketer at all. Did you watch much growing up, Willie? I watched a lot. So I met the lads and the synchronicities, the fluidity was there. Yeah, we've just been talking to Jace about it. Of course, Jace has been commentating the Black Cash Clash for as long as it's been going. He gets a little bit nervous when he thinks about the numbers. Obviously, over a million viewers are watching it live in New Zealand. Another two million taking it live over in Australia as well. So you don't want to be thinking about those sorts of things when a ball is skied in the air and you're sitting underneath.
26:06You don't want to drop it because, as you know, working in the socials environment there, William, that stuff lives forever, brother. Nobody forgets.
26:14Mike Minogue:Absolutely. I already asked Nate McCullum to put me in the inner circle. So I asked and he said no. Yeah, yeah. You wanted to be in the slips? Yeah, I wanted to be tight inside the inner ring. William. I'm doing my best work.
26:26Keyzie:I should add to that, but what Mogi left out there was there's going to be 2 billion viewers from India as well. So it's about 2.2 billion people that will be watching. But I was watching you do your shadow shots there, mate. You look pretty good to me.
26:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, I've always been told I've got a great leave. Yeah, okay. I've always got a fantastic leave. That's what I have been told. Well, what is your strong suit? Do you think it will be with the bat in hand? Well, I have. I used to open the batting and open the bowling at under eights. Yes. Wow. I have asked Nate if I can open the batting and bowling, and he said no. So we've just got to build from that.
27:03Keyzie:Was your thinking there to just get it out of the way as quickly as possible?
27:07Mike Minogue:The batting, definitely. I just want to get that. I've actually asked to bat 11. I don't want to get out there. No, we want to see you out there, man.
27:13Keyzie:I tell you what, and how you're feeling now, right, and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious, times that by 10 for tomorrow. Yeah.
27:23Mike Minogue:And there's perspiration here. But you don't want to do what Brian Lara did. He made the mistake a couple of years ago of having a couple of nerve settlers, didn't he?
27:31Keyzie:Yeah, a few feet nose bags. And he got out there and he was seeing six wickets. He had a child's helmet on. That was on backwards. And he got out second ball to Cole Mills.
27:41Mike Minogue:And he got another shot. They left him in. He got out next ball again. He had a shocker. So, you know, you can't be worse than Brian Lara. Yeah. But we'll see. Maybe he can. Well, ten red wines, I think. What I heard? Ten responsible red wines. Well, whatever gets you there, Willie. If you've just joined us, we're chatting to William Wider, who is playing in the Black Clash tomorrow. Your team cricket, so you are playing alongside a lot of people that have a lot of international experience and are very, very competitive. If they put you out there and you do end up batting or bowling, do you feel that pressure to deliver?
28:16Mike Minogue:100%. We've just had a few beers before. I've been having to go and grab everyone's beers and open them. and I haven't had that since I was playing rugby to go and I'm right at the bottom I know where I've been put humbling and that was from the rugby guys that was even from the cricket that was Kieran Reid Kieran Reid said open me a beer and bring it over yeah sorry well you wanted to be opening batsmen but now you're just opening all the beers for everyone yeah yeah I mean that's pretty good Willie
28:40Keyzie:well William I tell you what mate good luck for tomorrow cheers sweetie and as I say man just put the millions of viewers out of your head you can't you can't afford to focus on that sort of stuff mate Just watch the ball from the hand That's all you need to think about
28:55Mike Minogue:Do you have anything you can Pass on to me? You've all watched the Black Clash Can I have three tips? Well the thing I love about you is you're a details man I was at the hotel earlier on and we were checking in at the same time We were walking down the hallway And you had to ask one of the cleaners for directions to your room And you pointed to it This is without a word of a lie I pointed to the number on his card And she said no that's the pin code to get into your room The room number's on the other side No, man. That's not a great start. That's something you do, Jason. Oh, yeah, totally. It wasn't a good start.
29:27Mike Minogue:I'm glad only you saw that. Yeah. I was glad only you saw that. But is there something you could pass on to me as I go into the middle?
29:33Keyzie:You've all been there the last few years. I've got to be honest with you, William. I think you're beyond saving, mate.
29:43Keyzie:And you just go out there, you hold your head high no matter what happens, man. And I'll back you up on the commentary. Don't you worry about that. If I'm going to talk you up like you would not believe me, man.
29:54Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. My advice is take your shirt off. It works for me. The crowd seems to love it. You've got a great set of areolas. Yeah, well, I mean, not everyone's as gifted as I am. But you'll go well, Willie. Thank you so much for joining us on the Hauraki Big Show. And if you're keen to see Willie Wider playing tomorrow, make sure you tune in to The Black Clash on TVNZ1 and TVNZ+. Thanks, boys. Appreciate it. Thank you. No worries. Bit of pill jam. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
30:23Keyzie:Pearl Jam there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this glorious Friday afternoon. Live from Bruko in the beautiful Mount Mungu. If you're in the area, come on down. Grab yourself a nice cool beverage and some snacks.
30:37Mike Minogue:Also a free Backbone T-shirt.
30:38Keyzie:And a free Backbone T-shirt. And maybe some tickets to the Black Clash tomorrow.
30:43Mike Minogue:Sounds like a plan, Jace. With that in mind, we have got our second massive guest on the airwaves with us. We just chatted to Willie Wider, who's playing for Team Cricket tomorrow in the Black Clash. Still tickets available, blackclash.co.nz. Now, one of the coaching staff for the Chiefs, David Hill. Welcome along to the Hodaki Big Show, Dave. Awesome. Thanks for having me here. Good to be here in Chiefs country. Yeah, well, it is Chiefs country. My dad will be thrilled that I'm chatting to you. How much cricket have you played, Dave? How experienced are you? Haven't played a lot for a while. As a young fellow, played a little bit.
31:15Had a little practice on Wednesday. How was it looking? Fair to say. It's going to be a challenge, yes.
31:22Keyzie:I was going to say to you, David, when they offered you the opportunity to play, I turned it down. I was going to say, what on earth possessed you to go, yeah, I'm going to do that. I thought it was a hoax. I said, are you sure you've got the right guy? Right. Are you struggling for numbers? Yes. And they said, no, we still want you to play.
31:40Mike Minogue:Are you rolling the arm over? Are you a batsman? What's the deal? I'm a bit of average at everything. So all rounder yes around Wow yeah any representative cricket in your past me Oh as I'd remember played a little bit of central districts under 18s
32:01How long ago was that man? Oh Yeah, while ago yeah It's one of those things though isn't it and you can get out there You probably found this if you're rolling your arm over on Wednesday was it yet? You realise you've got muscles there that you haven't used for a good amount of time, but you pull up pretty sore? Well, funny you say that. I got treatment this morning at Chiefs HQ from our physio. A little bit of anchor punch and a massage. Oh, man. Just from the warm-up? The traps in the backs and the neck were a little bit there. Yeah, a little bit tight. A little bit tight.
32:31Mike Minogue:You're throwing down some heat then? You were bowling? No, I just batted. Just batting? Yeah. Oh, wow. Throwing and bowling may be a challenge as well.
32:38Keyzie:Well, the rumour has it, and I was talking to some of the fellas before, that they were facing you in the net and you were sending down like 130 Thunderbolts, mate. I'm a right-arm off spinner. Oh, okay. Because one of the things that I noticed about Team Rugby was that in recent years they've lacked pace. Have you got some pace elements in the team this time? Well, we've got Tim Southey, so... Oh, okay, yes. Yeah. And Joey Wheeler. Joey Wheeler, he can get it down reasonably. reasonably. He's fast to the bar. Yes. Yeah, yeah. Or if there's a TV camera. Yeah, yeah. And a phone, yes.
33:18Mike Minogue:Yes. So you've got Tim Salve on Team Rugby. Have you faced him at all yet? No. Just in the nets, nothing? No, that's tomorrow morning, yeah. Because that's terrifying. Yeah, it should be good. Yeah. Like if I'm standing there and I haven't held a bat for 20 years or whatever it might be and Tim Salve, the sexy camel, is steaming it. Yeah. Like, you're not scared by that, David? Well, I think tomorrow, by the end of our net session, tomorrow I'll either be confident or not confidence. And how are you playing tonight? Are you going to do what all of the athletes do, which is get an early night? Yes, correct.
33:46Mike Minogue:1am, 2am. Yeah, okay.
33:49Keyzie:So pretty standy sort of stuff then. As a rule, we generally have Jason Spice turn up to these events. He normally jumps behind the mic for us each year. He's usually got about 12 to 18 under his belt by that stage. Is it much the same today or has he got more and that's why he hasn't turned up? Well, we asked him to come and we couldn't find him. he's somewhere in the sort of vicinity hey well David as I said to William just before don't think about the millions of viewers tomorrow just go out there and give it your best shot mate and thanks for coming on the show
34:21Mike Minogue:thank you very much Chiefs coach David Hill on the Hauraki Big Show coming up next more big names including Hadley Park and Joey Wheeler as well that's all happening after a quick break here at Bruko on Hauraki The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt Mike Minogue and Kesey
34:37Keyzie:On the Radio Hodaki Big Show, live from Bruko in the beautiful Mount Maunganui. If you're in the area, come on down and say g'day, you mad bastards. Get yourself a free T-shirt, maybe a free ticket to the Black Clash tomorrow.
34:51Mike Minogue:That's right. We've got a few double passes to give away for all those that are down here. Just take a photo, tag Mount Bruko, tag the Black Clash, tag Hodaki Big Show, and we'll dish some of those out soon. Fellas, we're going to continue with the fantastic guests. We've had William Wairua on. We've had David Hill on. Time now to introduce another footy bloke, Hadley Parks. Welcome to the show, mate. Thank you very much. Thank you for having me. Yeah, no worries. Hadley, you know, you've played a lot of footy all over the place from Palmy originally. Is that right? From Palmy originally. Are you, mate?
35:18Yes, I am. I'm from Levin. Are you? Levin, born and bred here.
35:20Keyzie:Look at how Mogi's just staunching about it. Not at all. No, no. Well, we fuck a puppet of the same area there. So when I was growing up, we used to go up to Palmerston North to get on the hammer. We'd go to the fat lady's arms and the railway and all those sorts of places. You get absolutely steamed. Responsibly. You try and meet a beautiful lady. Perhaps she'd have a beer to offer. That never happens. So we'd sleep in our car and drive home in the morning.
35:43Mike Minogue:Mate, did you try Diablos then? What was that? Diablos was on the corner by the fat lady's arms. Oh, right. By the fits. Some places I got let into and others I didn't, mate. That might have been one of them. Mate, it was quite funny because we're at school and then one of the teachers was actually a bouncer at the Diablo as well. So as soon as you saw him look at him, you had to dive down low. So you had to keep him pretty quiet. If you've just joined us, you've got Mike Minogue and Hadley Parks reminiscing on the beautiful days growing up in Manawatu. What I was about to get into was you've played rep footy, you've played for the Turbos, of course, you've gone overseas, you've played for Wales, and tomorrow you have to face some of the best in the business in terms of cricket.
36:26Mike Minogue:How are you feeling? Mate, so actually, I'm going to correct you on that. I've been switched to the cricket team. Have you? Yes. Yes, so Tim Southie's jumped over. So Tim Southie's jumped over. Oh, yes. I think what's happened is I swapped light for light. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So you reckon you bowled about as quick as Tim?
36:45Keyzie:Oh, look, up there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
36:48Mike Minogue:I actually, yeah, yeah. Well, Hadley Parks, I mean, what is your experience with a cricket ball? Mate, so I played a little bit at school, but otherwise, other than that, I played a few games for Hunter Bull Hackers, which is where I grew up, which is just a T20 in the Wanganui Div 2 team kind of. So just enjoy it for what it is. And have you had much time with the rest of your team cricket teammates? Because if anything, that's more pressure. You're playing with the experts. Mate, we know they're going to carry me, which is quite nice. Yeah, which will be nice. That's good. But no, it's been good.
37:25Mike Minogue:We had a little bit of a promo this morning, which is at the hospital, which was outstanding, with a lot of cricket boys. I grew up watching these boys. It's awesome that you're in the same room with Lou Vincent, Hamish Marshall, who we want to talk about, Nathan McCullum. You're going up against as well Mike Hussey, who's on Team Rugby. Oh, mate, I remember, I'm a big fan of cricket. I remember watching the Aussie team there in the 90s. Cheating bastards, it was a little bit later. That was a little bit later. It's in their DNA, mate. This deco wouldn't want to do it. And so you look at Mike Hussey, mate.
38:04Mike Minogue:He, like, missed the cricket. So it's... It's pretty good, mate. And you get thrown together. There's no time really to talk about team tactics or find out if you're good or not. At this point, you either are or you're not. It's very much a case of bas-ball systems, isn't it? You go to the pub, you get absolutely hammered, you forget where you live, and then you turn up for the game. Mate, swing and hit. Yeah, yeah. And hopefully bowling, just not bowling wide. So, no balls, kind of thing. So, no, it's going to be a bit of fun, so it's very exciting. Hadley Parks, are you going to be rolling the arm over?
38:34Mike Minogue:Trying to. Okay. It's been a while. And what can Team Rugby, who you're up against now, what can they expect from you? A couple of bounces. Bouncers. If Joe Wheeler, he didn't sort me out of contract as an agent. You're going aggressive. If he's batting, I'll be bouncing. Yeah,
38:51Keyzie:nice. There's a rumour has it as well, Hadley, that in the nets you are bowling 140-plus. So I'm really looking forward to seeing you fire those missiles.
39:05Mike Minogue:I'll be coming in like a Dougie Bollinger from the boundary and bowling 110 if I'm lucky. 100. And the good news is the TV cameras take about 20km off that as well. The viewers in New Zealand are going to be treated. They're in for a treat, Kesey. Well, fellas, thank you so much, Hadley Parks, for joining us today. Good luck for the Black Clash tomorrow. Thank you. Get an early night. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, whatever. Don't get too stuck in. And up next on the Big Show, we'll get old Joey Wheeler in for a yarn. Yeah, beautiful. Cheers, fellas. Here's Lincoln Park. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey.
39:45Keyzie:Lincoln Park there on the radio. Hauraki. Big Show. This beautiful, steamy, steamy Friday afternoon live from Bruko. and beautiful Mount Monganelli, and here he is. Oh, Joey Wheeler, eh? What are you doing here, man? What do you want? No, I'm just here for the free drinks, man. I was going to say that. You guys said, oh, yeah, I've got a couple of free beers for you, Joey. You can smell a free beer. You can smell a free beer. I'll give you that, Joey. Good on you, mates. Thanks for that. And a re-burger. And a re-burger. Yeah, thanks, mate. Yeah, nice. Joey, well, to be fair, you didn't disgrace yourself last year.
40:22Keyzie:I mean, you had a ridiculous run-up, but, you know.
40:25Mike Minogue:No, that was the previous, maybe my debut year, Jase. I got the yips in a big way. What happened there, and I don't think it's my fault, I'm going to blame the skip here, Kieran Reid, is that he said to me pre-game, look, Joey, the tactic is you're going to follow Geordie downwind.
40:43Keyzie:Yes. King McCaw is going to go into the wind bowling his little in-duckers, left arm in-duckers. Yes, nice. King McCaw got a little bit of tap, so then he switched,
40:53Mike Minogue:but Joey hadn't marked his run up out at both ends, had he? Right. So I actually forgot in the heat of the situation, the blowtorch was on, I got in the red mist and I actually went 13 paces instead of 15. Right. And that's why I got the yips. But what happened, which was amazing, the coaching that I got that night at about 1.30am in the Christchurch Casino from Kyle Mills and Chris Martin was we did a few run-throughs and I managed to get the yips out of me. And then also I did a bit of work with Hauraki and Jeremy Wells, believe it or not.
41:28Keyzie:Oh, stay away from him.
41:29Mike Minogue:Yeah, Richard Headley inspired, gave me a couple of words of wisdom as well.
41:32Keyzie:And look, it sorted it. How, I don't think I've ever witnessed anything like this. What a disgraceful thing you've just done there to blame the great Richie McCaw for your yips. No, no, no, no.
41:47Mike Minogue:I'm blaming Kieran Reid, the great Kieran Reid, who was the skipper of team rugby for my faux pas of getting the yips because he told me I was coming downwind.
41:56Keyzie:I'd mark my run up out downwind, Jase. And then I'm going into the wind from King McCaw's end because King McCaw got a bit of tap. Got tonked. Well, you're not defensive at all about it, are you? No, not at all.
42:07Mike Minogue:I'm not dirty at all about it. My reputation was in tatters after that voice. It was. Joey Wheeler, obviously the Hot Springs Bar T20 Black Clash in association with Wolfbrook is on. It's on tomorrow at Bay Oval. There are still tickets available, blackclash.co.nz. You've played a few of these games now. Yeah. Are people starting to look to you for advice? Definitely not. Right, okay. Definitely not. If you had some to give, though, what would it be? Yeah, Mark, your run-up out at both ends would probably be the first thing. Good start. Just in case you do get thrown a spanner. Yes. But the other one would be just to embrace the atmosphere.
42:45Mike Minogue:Yeah. It is a special atmosphere, this game. It is. A sold-out crowd, well, close to what it sounds, Keezy, at Maumanganui Oval. And they're a lick it up crowd, I understand. So get amongst the festivities. And there's nothing like a couple of neck lubricants to loosen up the lower back as well as what I've found over my years in the Black Clash. Whether it's a couple of sad blanques from Alan Scott, which happened last year down at Third Man, that seemed to be the magic juice chase. It is a special, special occasion, isn't it? There's nothing really like it on the sports calendar. And right at the start of the game, they have the national anthems.
43:23Yeah, special moment. And I saw you last year, mate, tears absolutely streaming down your face. I don't think you'd be ashamed to say you were sobbing. Yeah, well, it's an emotional time.
43:33Mike Minogue:You've got under your right wing, Kieran Reid. Under your left wing, you've got someone like William Wairua.
43:39Keyzie:Yeah. How could you not be inspired? You sure... It's like going to war. You sure the sobbing wasn't to do with what you were recollecting from the night before? Yeah, there could have been some PTSD from the year before, Jase, maybe. Who knows? Yes, indeed. Without a doubt. It is an amazing occasion, though. And as we've been saying, do you get nerves? Oh, without a doubt, mate. Yeah. I hadn't played a game of cricket until the first time I played it.
44:09Mike Minogue:It was 16 years before the last time I played a serious game of cricket. So you go from that to then playing against your heroes like Kyle Mills, Adam Perore, who looks like he's five years younger than yourself. Just a little bit of advice here. Don't let Adam Perore corner you in the changing room and start banging on about climbing Everest. Yeah, I know. And a bloke with a tan like that couldn't have climbed Everest. That's what I said to him one year. If you've got a tan like that, mate, you're not climbing Everest. Another person you must be bloody excited to see, and I know I am, Jesse Ryder.
44:42Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah. I'm surprised he's not here. Has anyone spotted him yet? My tactic was actually to ply him and get him absolutely pissed drunk so that he couldn't spank me to all parts of Bay Oval tomorrow night. But I actually think, we talked about this, Kiki, on the radio. You put me off that tactic of doing that because you think it might actually make him better. It's his superpower. And then I thought about that, and it took me back to my under-17s for CD when he turned up in my hotel room at about 2am on New Year's Eve and then next day absolutely pissed at bits, mind you. And then the next day went out and blasted 222.
45:19Exactly right, you did the same thing.
45:20Mike Minogue:That might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but, you know. Something like that. There's a lot of those stories about Jesse Wright. Apparently he did the same over in Perth. Went out, had an all-nighter, turned up at the game, double-ton. Love it, don't you? Yeah, beautiful. So that's the key tonight. I'll have an all-nighter and then I'll have a double-ton. Yeah, yeah. Well, you heard it here first. Joe Wheeler, double ton. Double ton tomorrow.
45:38Keyzie:Hey, Joey, all the best for tomorrow. Don't disgrace yourself too much, mate. Yeah, thanks, mate. Any tips? I heard William ask for some tips. No, just don't disgrace yourself. And boy, I'm going to talk you up in the commentary. I'm going to get those expectations that the punch is really high.
45:55Mike Minogue:Joey Wheeler, thank you so much for joining us. Thanks, mate. Thanks for having me. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey.
46:03Keyzie:Yes indeed, racing there on the Radio Houdaki Big Show this glorious Friday afternoon live from the Brew Co in beautiful Mount Maunganui.
46:14Mike Minogue:That's right, Jase. We are down here, the official warm-up for the Black Clash which is happening tomorrow. It's all thanks to our mates at Export Ultra. If you are coming to the Black Clash tomorrow at Mount Maunganui, come here first. Yes. They've got a whole lot of drink deals and all sorts of bar deals and stuff going on and there's a free lift to the Black Clash afterwards. I mean limited seats so you have to get in straight away you'll be here won't you Keezy yeah sure sure Jase I guess I am now that I've said it on the radio coming up after 6 fellas I was thinking why don't we start the year the right way by doing what's on the dinner with me Keezy
46:47Keyzie:that's the only way to do it man yeah I think so get straight into the good stuff mate
46:51Mike Minogue:yeah straight into the A grade radio so do give us a text on 3483 what are you having for tea tonight New Zealand and every text Don't laugh at the middle of it. Every text on 3483 in the draw for a$50 re-burger voucher. That's coming up next. The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
47:13Keyzie:Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's going off. It's certainly going off where we are at Brew Co. in beautiful Mount Maunganui. If you're in the area, still got an hour of the show to go. So come on down, grab yourself a cold one and maybe a little snack. And fellas, I was reflecting, what a hell of a way to start the year, eh? A live show in the Mount. It's bloody good, mate. Just looking around here, I mean, if there's any woman out there that are wondering where their boyfriend is, he's down here at Brewco. And he's a shocking bastard.
47:45Mike Minogue:And he's making it full of himself. He is a shocking bastard. Totally. He certainly is, fellas. The good news is everyone's managed to stay and keep their wits about them because they're aiming for this next segment, aren't they? It's what's on the dinner with me, Keezy.
47:59Keyzie:How good. I have, you know, this is the segment that I have missed over the Christmas break. Well, you and I, Jase, were talking over the break and we thought, jeez, is it time to retire it? Is it time to park it? Finish on a high, it's a hell of a segment. We're going to come in here and say, look, we're just going to leave it for the year, give it time for people to miss it. And we've come back in here and Keezy can't wait to do it and I can't let the young man down.
48:22Mike Minogue:So we're straight back into it. We've changed our minds, can't wait. Sorry, because at the end of last year, you guys were really pro what's on the dinner, and I was anti it. Yes. And so when I came back this year, my resolution was, Keezy, really get in behind what's on the dinner, even though you don't really like the segment. I was going to can it. Yeah, because we didn't think it was fair that we were making you do something you didn't like. Right. But you've come back with a fresh attitude, and I'm completely revigorated on the idea. Yeah, so am I.
48:50Keyzie:I am massively invigorated of the idea of you doing what's on the dinner with me, Keezy.
48:55Mike Minogue:Well, if you don't know what this idea is that we're all invigorated on, it's basically you text through 3483 what you're having for dinner, and then I read it out. Yeah.
49:05Keyzie:Speaking of which, here at Bruko, I'm looking at all these delicious meals going past. How do you say that? Meals. Yeah. You know, you've got your wedges, you've got your chips, your burgers. There's a really nice bread, sort of cheesy salami. Yeah, I saw that. Which I've been trying to score, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet. Oh, that's a shame, Jase. Yeah. Are we getting texts, by the way, on 348? A shitload coming through. Oh, yeah, good.
49:33Mike Minogue:And every single one of them with what's for dinner, all in the draw for a$50 re-burger voucher. We'll be doing that next, fellas. In the meantime, shall we get back to the tunes? Yeah.
49:41Keyzie:Okay.
49:42Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
49:48Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Rage Against the Machine there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show, this beautiful Friday afternoon. Live from Bruko in beautiful Mount Maunganoo, if you're in the area, come and say hi. Fellas, I just want to say, before we get into what's on the tea with me, Keezy, I just saw Pugsan crack out his moves, and it has really thrown me, but we'll get to that after. Okay. What's on the dinner with me, Keezy?
50:18Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, hey, guys. Text here from Steve.
50:22Keyzie:What's on the tea with me dinner?
50:28Mike Minogue:That's right. What's on the tea with me dinner?
50:31Keyzie:I don't know what was going on in my head at that point.
50:34Mike Minogue:I don't know, Jase. I don't know what's going on on this show pretty much every day. This is the segment award-winning. Award-winning segment. Trailblazing stuff where you text through 3483 what you are having for dinner and then we read it out on the radio. Every text on 3483 in the draw for a$50 re-bigger voucher. Fellas, this one comes in from Dennis. Dennis the Menace.
50:58Keyzie:Damn. Yeah, that's what I was... Yeah, it must be Dennis the Menace. It's the only Dennis I know.
51:03Mike Minogue:It's Dennis the Menace. Yeah, cool. G'day, fellas. Dennis the Menace here. I'm having leftover meatloaf from last night with an old bag of coleslaw. Boring. Boring as F. That sucks, right? That sounds good.
51:19Keyzie:Actually, I eat fine with a meatloaf, Moggy. And I don't know if you find this. It's often better the next day. I often find a coleslaw is better the next day as well. I agree. Delicious. I actually don't mind that. I love a meatloaf. Yes. What I would do in that scenario is maybe some fresh white bread. Yes. And make some meatloaf sandwiches. A little bit of tomato sauce. Yeah, but maybe a bit of mustard there, Mogi. I'm running a really good Dijon in my house at the moment, which I'm loving.
51:47Mike Minogue:G'day, is another text on 3483. G'day, fellas. Saddam here. Oh, yeah. Oh, sorry. Sam here. Oh, Sam. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Samwise Gamgee. Yeah, that's the one. G'day, fellas. Tonight having whitebait fritters. I like a whitebait fritter, but it depends how it's done. Oftentimes you'll find a whitebait fritter also comes with a$30 price tag, and I'm not down with that. I think it's going to be white bread but sandwich, proper butter, nothing else, no margarine, no olivari, none of that. A little bit of lemon, a little bit of salt, that's your lot. No tomato sauce.
52:28Keyzie:Tell me, Mogi, when you're making them, it's your for the white. I don't make them. Well, but if you were. Jase, he doesn't make them. Would you get rid of the yolk and just do it with egg whites? Mate, I don't know how then, mate. I couldn't tell you. Right, okay.
52:41Mike Minogue:He literally just said he doesn't make them.
52:44Keyzie:Well, I was just, you know, saying what he would do if he was making them. Oh, yeah.
52:48Mike Minogue:And so you prefer to separate the yellow from the whites?
52:51Keyzie:Yeah, I take the egg yolk out and I just fluff those whites. So you don't think the yellow should be with the white? No, I don't. Racism alert. Racism alert.
53:02Mike Minogue:Shout out to Tony who's on the buttons up there in Auckland. G'day, fellas. G'day, Keezy. Oh, hang on. Sorry. G'day, fellas. Sarah here. Sarah Jessica Parker. Oh, damn, I was going to say that too. Come on, Jason, another one. There's heaps of Sarah's. Sarah Geller. No, it's Jessica Parker. Okay, fellas, Sarah Jessica Parker here. Homemade pizza in the wood fire oven built by my hot builder boyfriend. I like the sound of her boyfriend. Yeah. I'm not so sure about the pizza. Really? Wood fire homemade? No, tell me about the boyfriend again. Just sent through here, apparently 6 '2". Oh, yeah, now you're talking.
53:42Mike Minogue:Works out three times a week. Oh, yeah.
53:46Keyzie:Tan? I like tan, yeah. Yeah, I like a bit of tan action. Well, oh, nah, I like a bit of tan action.
53:55Mike Minogue:That's good stuff. All right, I'll read one more dinner for what's on the dinner. People are loving it. People are loving it.
54:02Keyzie:They're mesmerised.
54:04Mike Minogue:Every time I do this, I'm blown away by how much people definitely give a shit. G'day, fellas. Tony here. Lyle? Oh, Tony Keezy, Tony. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's Tony Keezy, Tony. G'day, fellas. Tony Keezy, Tony here. I'm having Kina guacamole tacos. Nah. Kina guacamole.
54:29Keyzie:Nah, there's something fundamentally wrong there. Really? But you've got a real thing about guacamole, you know, because it comes from...
54:36Mike Minogue:Yeah, and he's not too crash hot on Kina either. Hey, keep those texts coming through. 3, 4, 8, 3. We'll be back soon. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.
54:47Keyzie:June. Jane's Addiction there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show live from Bruko in Mount Monganui. Getting towards the end of the show, but come on down anyway, fellas.
54:57Mike Minogue:Yeah, still another half an hour to go there, Jase. Still plenty of deals on offer. Still free backbone T-shirts. And still great chat from the Big Show.
55:04Keyzie:Yeah, totally, man. I'm very excited to report that my calamari's turned up. It's beautiful and crispy and tender on the inside with a lovely dipping sauce. Sorry, it's pronounced Kala Maori. Oh, is it? Now, listen, fellas, something happened while I was sitting here enjoying my calamari. You know, we often talk about Pugsan and, you know, what a stallion he is. What a legend. And I actually saw him in action, you know, showing his wares on a young lady And I was, man, I was impressed with the moves. He turns it on. He turns it on. That lovely smile of his, his perfect skin. He was Mr. Smooth Ass.
55:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, he is Mr. Smooth Ass, Jase, you're right. That's a common saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the thing is, because she was like, oh, do you have a partner? And he was like, sorry, what? Yeah, yeah.
56:00Keyzie:He was like, oh, he pretended. It's very loud in here. But this was his approach. Yeah. she approached us and then Pajsan said oh have you been here before? did you come to the last show here? and she went oh no I've never which he knew yeah he knew that and she said oh no I've never been to a show before and he went oh she looks so familiar to me you've got a lovely face and I was like yeah it's full on you know what i mean just what what pugsana she said oh thank you that's very nice um and then she asked if he had a partner and stuff and that's when he went sorry what and he couldn't really hear um and then he asked her do you have a partner yeah right yeah do you have
56:51Mike Minogue:someone down here in the mount or are you and then she said yeah and then he said oh how serious is it yeah exactly um pugsana what's that about oh oh sorry g'day fellas how are you yeah no look i I'm just sort of wondering, Jase, who taught you to tune into other people's yarns?
57:09Keyzie:Well, it was happening right next to me.
57:11Mike Minogue:You're a businessman, you know what I mean? So it's crazy you don't know how to, I don't know, mind your business, you know what I mean?
57:16Keyzie:I was trying to tune out a bit, but you were so virulent. Virulent? Could you define that for the listeners, please? You were so vigorous in your chat. Right, right. I mean, the music was blaring, and I could hear you over the top. And just the way you were draping your body, and you put your arm around your shirt. Raping. Raping. Holy hecka.
57:37Mike Minogue:I genuinely thought I'd seen that lady before, and I still think I have. I have no idea where. I'm sure it was at a live show for us or something like that. Yeah. I think you've seen her in your DMs. That would be very complimentary, Chris. Thank you for saying that. No, as in you're sliding into hers. Oh, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but Pugs, you do have a partner, eh? What's that? Of course I do. If you are in the area, come on down to Bruko, Mount Maumunui. Still plenty of time left. Plenty of backbone shirts, I assume. Plenty of shoes. You want some calamari? Can I have another piece, Jack?
58:13Yeah, man.
58:13Mike Minogue:Thanks, man. This is Beck. Dreams on the Hauraki Big Show. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.
58:20Keyzie:Yes, indeed. ACDC there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. noon, you're listening to The Big Show, broadcasting from Brewco in beautiful Mount Maunganui.

There are still a handful of tickets available, blackclash.co.nz, and tomorrow as well, thanks to our friends at Export Ultra, who are the reason we're down here. 59:04So good, man. I mean, why
59:06Keyzie:wouldn't you do that, Mogi?
59:08Mike Minogue:Where did you get that from? Where did you get the$1 million? I was talking to this guy on the urinal and he said there's$1 million up for grabs tomorrow, so you've got to be down here. That's Bruko. Bruko and Mount Maunganui. $1 million. Who's giving the money? The Bruko? I don't know. You have to ask a guy in the toilet.
59:24Keyzie:I'm not interested in the admin, Kesey. I'm just interested in the reality of it. You know what I mean? I mean, imagine how that could change your life, winning a million dollars. A million dollars, man. And you're talking about free drinks, man.
59:35Mike Minogue:Grow up, man. I was told, and apologies if I'm incorrect here, because people make mistakes. I was told it's like free beverages and food and stuff and official warm-up lift to the game. I wasn't told that you could win a million dollars.
59:47Keyzie:Imagine that, having a free Bearsie, then hopping on a bus for free to take you to the Black Clash and you've got a million bucks in your bank account. How good? It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. So be down here tomorrow, that's Bruko. Mount Maunganui.
1:00:09Mike Minogue:Mount Maunganui. And bring your wallet because they'll be filling it by the sound of it.
1:00:13Keyzie:Hey, Kesey, what time are you going to be down here tomorrow morning to sort of kick it all off.
1:00:18Mike Minogue:Well, I don't know. I'm not the one kicking it all off. I'll certainly... Why are you trying to get me to come down here to kick it all off? Well, I just remember you did it last time
1:00:25Keyzie:and the people loved it. Oh, they loved it. They loved you, Keezy. Did I do it last time? Yes, you did. You came down here and everybody started going, Keezy, Keezy, Keezy, Keezy, Keezy, Keezy.
1:00:39Mike Minogue:Yeah.
1:00:40Keyzie:I reckon I would go so far as to say that if you hadn't have come to Brewco before the game the last time, you wouldn't have got those meat pity nips out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:00:54Mike Minogue:What, Jase, I actually did that. Keezy! No, Keezy! Stop charging! Keezy! Keezy! The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
1:01:14Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the first show to kick off a year, and what a cracker, eh, fellas? Cracker! Cracker! That was a cracker.
1:01:24Mike Minogue:So good to be back, fellas. As a fully grown man gets down-trailed in front of us, it's good to be back amongst the backbones, isn't it? Yeah, totally.
1:01:33Keyzie:and a big shout out to Bruko by the way for having us what a great job team and the calamari was perfect
