In short

Live episode of The Hauraki Big Show from Parrot Dog, Lyle Bay, Wellington, built around a “Wellington, yes or no?” Big Poll, a “Would You Rather” game, a live “Thursday Throbber” where the crowd votes on songs, and audience interaction segments (“What’s on the dinner with me, Keezy?” and a tip jar).

Guests (on-air)

No external celebrity guests appear in the transcript. The hosts are Jason Hoyte (Jase), Mike Minogue (Mogi), and Keezy (Keezy/KZ). A local managing director of Parrot Dog, Waddy, joins briefly. Later, Ryan from Beervana is introduced.

Guest backgrounds

Waddy is managing director of Parrot Dog; he discusses the brewery’s history (home brewing, then Vivian Street, then Parrot Dog since 2017) and beer philosophy. Ryan is associated with Beervana and helps set up the event at Sky Stadium.

Key claims

Wellington is debated as either “all G” or “a total shithole”; Parrot Dog is one of NZ’s largest independent craft breweries; Beervana sessions are selling fast; tipping is mocked via a “Big Show tip jar.”

Notable examples

The crowd votes in the Throbber between Hello Sailor (“Blue Lady”), Bomb Funk MCs (“Freestyler”), Fat Freddy’s Drop (“Slings and Arrows”), and others; the loser does a Kaitaia Fire hot sauce shot. Tip jar items include cheese balls, socks, Hot Wheels, a Toyota Caldina spare key, and $2 plus an American $1 bill. Dinner texts include steak/surf-and-turf arguments, Thai curry, mac and cheese, and smoked pulled pork.

Yes, indeed, Jimmy Eat World there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Thursday afternoon, live from Parrot Dog and beautiful, beautiful Lyle Bay in Wellington.

2:43Keyzie:If you're in the area, come on down and say g'day. Jase, did you know that Parrot Dog is one of New Zealand's largest independent crop breweries? You're joking. Hey, of course, we are here to celebrate the fact that Bear Varner is taking over Sky Stadium. Tomorrow down here in Wellington, after the entire weekend, it is two days, hundreds of beers, cider, cocktails, eats and beets. Don't know why that's funny. The Saturday day session is already sold out. Don't miss your shot. Tickets are moving fast. Bearvana.co.nz. That is why we are here. Yeah, totally. We're going to be there tomorrow, by the way, with bells on, aren't we, fellas?

3:14Keyzie:With bells on. But right now, it's time for... The Big Polar.

3:24Keyzie:A very easy one today because we're here. Wellington, yes or no? Mogi, you were born and, well not born and raised, but you have lived in Wellington for what, two decades? Yeah, I lived here for about 16 odd years and I was right on my prime keys here. It was 2003 to around about 2019, so I was right in the thick of it. Right in the thick of it. So from my point of view, it's absolutely Wellington, yes. Some of the best music in the country, film obviously, the arts is unbelievable. You've got all the politicians here. It's just tick, tick, tick. Yeah, right. Yeah, sure, sure. Look, you know, from my point of view, there's a lot of people out there that will say that Wellington's a shithole.

4:02Keyzie:Yeah. But I... Like a lot. Yeah, like a lot of people. I've heard people say it's an absolute dump. Yeah, like... Totally, and feel free on 3483 to give your opinion. And there's lots of sort of weird sort of acty types. Yeah. You know, and all that sort of stuff. You must love it. I won't have any of that kind of chat. I've been down here many times, some good times and some bad times over the years, I'll be honest with you. But for Hoity J, I mean the harbour, look at that beautiful beach over there, the howling gales, the pissing rain. What about that empty plot? That empty plot there, the falling down buildings.

4:38Keyzie:Big tick for Hoity J. Yeah, and when I think about Wellington, I think about like a thriving city. Yeah, totally, man. You know what I mean? Like bars and restaurants just popping up all over the place. It's so good here that the homeless from all over the country move into Courtney Place. It's the most coveted homeless community in possibly the world, I'd say. Yeah, so look, 3483, give us your opinion on Wellington. The big poll is Wellington, yes or no? And people are already asking why my voice sounds the way it does. I don't know. Yeah, it's just, you know, you had a big night. That's all good, Keasy.

5:08No, that's not what happened.

5:09Keyzie:Just on that, you know, I remember coming down to Wellington once, speaking of the homeless. And I remember walking through Courtney Place and this dude just shoulder barged me from behind. Just came sprinting up and shoulder barged me. And I thought, God, I've never felt more welcome in my life. You know what I'm saying, mate? It was just like, this is great shit. You know, the homeless, they know a weak bastard when they see one. And he was hoping it would knock all the loose change out of your pockets. Right, yeah. Well, it was in my early days, so there was no loose change going on, I'm afraid.

5:41Dave. 3483, send through your opinions on Wellington. How about this one, Moggy? This will warm your heart. Wellington's all G. Oh, yeah, man.

5:50Keyzie:Yeah. That guy gets it. And that person's now in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. Wellington is a total shithole. I think both of those are up for the new catchphrase for Wellington. It used to be absolutely positively Wellington. Wellington, yeah, I remember that one. I think now it's Wellington, it's all G. Yeah, she's all G. 3483, though, keep the text coming through. Also, if you're here in the crowd at Parrot Dog, do join us. We're here for another couple of hours. Feel free to send through any messages, anything you'd like, any shout-outs you'd like read out. Yeah, totally, man. We love that.

6:22And there's going to be some food tabs on offer as well. We'll keep you updated on that. Bow down here, we're giving away thousands of dollars in food. Yeah, great stuff.

6:32Keyzie:In the meantime, let's have a bit of Pearl Jam, Shabby. Get on you. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers there. You're listening to The Big Show live from Parrot Dog and beautiful Lyle Bay. The big poll today, Wellington, yes or no? We've got a few texts in on 3483 there, Keezy. Yeah, a lot of people split on Wellington, it seems. Everyone that lives in Wellington thinks it's okay and everyone else thinks it's a bit of a shithole. Do you mind if I transition into shout-outs? Quite a lot of them have come through.

7:07Keyzie:Yeah, no, go for it, man. Hey, fellas, I'm just down at the live show. Can I get a shout-out for my backbone mum, Anna? No. No? That's all G. G'day, fellas. Here at Parrot Dog, just a quick one. Does Hoi DJ always practice his golf swings during the break? Yes, I do. It's graduated. It used to be cricket shots. It used to be cricket shots, and now it's golf swings. And he'd get bowled every time. Just nipping off the seam there on the middle stump, hitting the top of off. Just here in the crowd, lads, would appreciate a shout-out to the Weta ice hockey team. We've got our final at 7.15 tonight.

7:43Wow. Where are you, Weta ice hockey team?

7:46Keyzie:Weta? Oh, yeah, good on you. Oh, you're the backbone that bought me some cheese balls. Good on you, mate. That's Willie. Fellas, one thing we decided to, well, we discussed it on yesterday's show was a tip jar. Yeah, man. We've decided at live shows we're going to have the big show tip jar. So Pugs has put it together there. and you can see its size, if you're here at the live show, represents what we're expecting. It is a bucket that you'd usually fill with laundry. So we're just going to pop the Hodaki Big Show tip jar on the side of the table there and you can just feel free to put anything in there.

8:17Now this all comes out of the back of Keezy going out for a birthday dinner the other night and to his horror when he went to pay the bill, the restaurant had the cheek to ask for a tip from him. And Keezy, you know, you're pretty tight with a dollar, brother. I think everybody knows that. And you were absolutely fuming that they would even stoop to asking you for an extra dollar. So you brought it into the show to talk about it. And to be fair, all of us hate the idea of tipping. Uber's always asking for a tip. Restaurants are always asking for a tip. So we thought, well, if they can ask for a tip, why not us on the big show?

8:50Keyzie:Yeah, absolutely, Mogi. And, you know, in fairness, if you think it's a terrible voice break, you don't have to tip. If you think it's a great voice break, then, you know, and when we say tip, fellas, it doesn't necessarily have to be cash I mean it could be some durries maybe it could be cheese balls it could be come and pour some beer in it don't do that who knows what could end up in the bucket at the end of the night and I tell you what if that bucket is filled with cash we're going to chuck it on the bar what do you say yeah most of it we haven't discussed that I thought we were just going to pocket it Wow, I reckon we chuck it on the bar.

9:33Yeah, well, look, the tip jar is there. Feel free to put whatever you want. We've got cheese balls in there at the moment. We were given some lovely daffodils by the daffodude as well, so we might put some daffodils in there. So it's already paying off, fellas. Yeah. And one thing I've heard about people in Wellington is that they are extremely generous. I'm just looking out at the crowd here, and I'm seeing nothing but blank faces. Yeah, totally. That's what I'm seeing. I don't think it's going to go very well at all. No, no, no. Trust me, man. Wellingtonians don't want to be known as tight asses as well as living with shit.

9:59They don't look keen at the moment, but I think another few beers, and they'll get a bit blurry-eyed, and they'll have a few good ideas, I reckon.

10:05Keyzie:Yeah, come 5.30, it'll be pouring in, feels. Yeah, mate. Good stuff there, feels. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. You're listening to The Big Show live from Parrot Dog and Lyle Bay. Beautiful Wellington. But right now it's time for... I don't know.

10:34You've got me there. The Big Show, Would You Rather. Yeah, Would You Rather. Now this comes from the... You would have heard these around the place, the Would You Rather, Would You Rather this or that. It's been around for probably 40 years and the Big Show's just jumped on the bandwagon now. People are absolutely loving it. They're lapping it up, mate. Yeah, they're lapping it up. Yep, so we've got a new one today for you, and this is a bloody good one here. This one here is, would you rather have a slow dance with your partner to your favourite song? I am. Okay. Or. Or. Yes, or. Or. Get struck by lightning.

11:16Keyzie:Oh. That's a tough one. It's a toughie. Well, it's not really that tough. I mean because I mean in my case I've got two left feet you know what I mean and I'm easily triggered and I get easily aroused so the old slow dance can have a kind of, can be quite embarrassing for Hoardy J Would that be alright though with you because it's your missus It's noticeable Mogi let's just say that Sure She'd be able to ignore like something just bumping into her shin though wouldn't you? Yeah, well.

11:55You know what I mean?

11:56Keyzie:I don't know if it would be bumping into her shin, Keezy. Sorry, me.

12:03Keyzie:But then there's that thing too because you get struck by lightning. I mean, sure, you could be killed horrifically. Yes. But it also may give you superpowers. I don't think so. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, that does happen. Look, I'm going to ask a question for Jase's sake. Is it just for one song you have to slow dance? Yeah, it's only for one song. Right. Okay. And you're struck by lightning, which could kill you. Yeah. And has killed many, many, many people. Yeah. I mean, it seems pretty straightforward to me. Does it? Yeah. Why, what are you thinking? Well, I'm not really thinking about anything.

12:34For me, it would be, I'd be happy to slow dance with my wife, but not in front of people. Yeah, sure. I wouldn't want it to be public. Yeah, yeah. Right. So, but you prefer, so in that case, if there are people watching. Yeah. You'd rather get struck by lightning. I'd rather be struck by lightning. Yeah. Really? Well, because it's not 100 % that you'll die. Right. But there's nothing like that. You know, you're dying of embarrassment if you're dancing with your missus. Yeah, but you're not actually. It's 0 % of you actually dying just having to dance. No, but, you know, like you say, oh, God, I died of embarrassment.

13:03And that's how you feel. And then every time you think about that time that you danced with your missus and you died of embarrassment, you die again. Yes. Whereas if you get struck by a lightning and you die from that, you only die once.

13:13Keyzie:Do you want to die sort of slowly and with humiliation, or do you just want to go out and a bang? Go out and a bang. Do you want to be split in half by a lightning bolt and it's just a blaze of glory? The thing about it is, man, if you get struck by lightning, how cool is that? Did you hear about old Mogi, man? Yeah, he got struck by lightning. He got struck by lightning. What a legend. What a legend. What a backbone. Yeah, totally. Or did you hear about Mogi? I saw him. He was slow dancing with his missus. Yeah, yeah. No good. It's not good. I don't think there's anything embarrassing about me slow dancing with my wife.

13:42Yeah, but she's a bit of a weird face. Yeah, I mean, she's, don't.

13:47Keyzie:She's a bit of a. Don't. We talked about this. Look, you know I love your wife, Kesey. We've talked about that as well. But she is a bit weird, that's all. I mean, she's a good bastard. She's a good bastard. But she's just a bit... Well, you're right, she's an odd fish. She is. She's harmless. Oh, yeah, she's harmless. She means well. Yeah, yeah, yeah, she means well. A bit icky. Yeah. She can clear a room. Oh, she can clear a room. Oh, yeah. I'm just thinking of actually, now that I think about it, Kesey. What's that, Jess? You and your wife and you wearing your big floater shoes and your lovely wife there being a bit weird.

14:27Keyzie:So you'd rather that than be struck by lightning? No, not if my weird wife is involved. Absolutely not. I don't want to be seen with her. Actually, if I think about it, you'd be fine if you were wearing those shoes and you were struck by lightning. Yeah, that's true. Because you'd be grounded. You know what I mean? That massive amount of rubber on the ground there. Or if I'm next to you because I can hide under your nose. So, yeah, actually, I'll lock in, I'll get struck by lightning. Yes, I will. I'm going to lock in struck by lightning. But standing next to Hoytie James. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey.

15:01Keyzie:Joy Division there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Thursday afternoon. Live from Parrot Dog and beautiful Lyle Bay. Just a reminder, too, of the tip jar that we've got on the desk there. Feel free to contribute. So far, we've been given a belt, a forklift license, and a spare key for a Toyota Caldina somewhere in Upper Huck. Great stuff. That's already really good. Yeah, it's really good. Now, we've got the managing director of Parrot Dog with us now. That's Waddy. G'day, you man. Barson, how's life? Life's great, thanks, mate. Can I ask you first and foremost, man, is this your normal sort of turnout for a Thursday afternoon?

15:41Well, every second Thursday, we've got the quiz night. so she did get pretty bloody busy but I have to say this is quite unique You should chuck in the question would you rather have a slow dance with your missus or get struck by lightning that would make a great question I have to shout out what an absolute privilege and honour to have the big show at Parrot Dog Bars

16:05Keyzie:It's a beautiful Isle Bay It's a privilege and an honour to be here can I ask how long's the old parrot dog Just before we do that, actually, Keezy just said to me, you got the name from the fact that your dog ate a parrot. Is that true? I didn't say that. What are you talking about? Oh, well, you've hit the nail on me. You've obviously done your research, Keezy, before coming down. I didn't say that. I have no idea what he's talking about. Dog ate a parrot, and here we are. Right. And that took place about 2011, so we've been up and running. Is that actually what happened? Because I don't know where he got that from.

16:38That's not from him. No, the original story is way later than that. Right, okay. We've got to keep that one going. That's weird, Jason.

16:43Keyzie:So you started off 2011, and it seems to me, you know, because it's beer Varner and stuff, and breweries are popping up here, you've got to have a bit of passion for it, don't you, Waddy? Oh, fairly passionate. Yeah. I love a good beer. If I remember correctly, Waddy, and you and I used to work together in film, I think it might have been The Hobbit, which is everybody's favourite Lord of the Rings movie. And it was years ago, and then if I remember, you pretty much found the golden ticket because you had a couple of mates that started the brewery out of their garage. or is it something along those lines?

Read the full transcript

17:12And you just jumped on the coattails and now here you are absolutely clipping the ticket. Yeah, no, I've just been absolutely hands on a plate. A little bit like my Hobbit works. But no, exactly that. The Hobbit dried up. A lot of inspiration working with you, mate. You know, just what a go-out. And then, yep, the lads were just getting into building the brewery and I went and hung around waiting for the pick-ups, you know, waiting for the next movie to come along. And here we are 13, 14 years later. Is it true that it was out of a garage initially, and how did you end up here? Because this is a bloody great premises.

17:44You've been here for a while, but I vaguely remember that it happened in stages. Yeah, nah. Brewing in the bath, Arrow Street, the two original lads. We're home brewing, and then that moved to the first place. So you were brewing there in a bath with everyone's filth and pubic hair floating around and stuff, were you?

17:59Keyzie:That sounds disgusting, Waddy. Oh, mate, but it tastes so good. Yeah, well, true. You've done something right. Yes. But, yeah, some big parties in the early days, and then that moved over to Vivian Street, where we took it to the first brewery, a big commercial there, and then we've been out here since 2017. Yeah, she's a bloody huge establishment, and from what I understand, you're going to be back out at Beer Varner, which I think kicks off tomorrow, if my memory serves me. What have you got planned out there, man? We've got a hell of a show lined up, actually. Bit of a light show featuring all of our limited release artworks.

18:29Plenty of ears on the pouring units, and yeah, we're just going to have a great display of Beer Vrarch, yes? That sounds great, and I can't wait to see it. G'day, Waddy. Keezy here, man. Hope you're well. Yeah, great. Thanks, Keezy. Admirating the shoes, I can't not mention them. Thanks, mate. I think the shoes are fantastic. They're not that big, eh? They're fine. They're enormous, but I like them. What was it like working with Mogi back in the day, man? Was he leaving his keys behind and losing his wallet and stuff? Well, funny you mention keys, because I just remember his sat-down Mercedes Benz.

19:03Yeah. What year was that? Maybe early noughts? He's Noughts, I've 102. 2001, yeah. He thought he was Peter Jackson driving into the studio every day, I think. Really? Yeah, it's true. It's true. It was a hell of a vehicle for someone who was a runner to be driving around, which was entry level. But yeah, what I found out, Waddy, is you can afford to buy a Mercedes, you can't afford to own one. And so I had to get rid of it because it was costing me an absolute forge. Learned that the hard way. I did, mate. But you would have been raking it in on the Hobbit, mate. Oh, it was huge.

19:29Keyzie:Totally. I didn't even get an audition for that, which is weird. That is strange. Which is weird when you think about it, Waddy, given my size. They could have saved on makeup. Yeah, they wouldn't have had to do any sort of special effects or anything. I don't know how we do it. Old Hobble would have just wandered in there. Boom! Mate, here you are, though. Yeah, well, here I am. Here I am, a top radio DJ earning tens of dollars. How many beers do you make here? How many beers are you running? We're running about a dozen beers at Vervana itself, but here we've got 18. Wow. Or so. We have lots of beers at all times.

20:02Yes. Is that like a philosophy? lots of beers as long as it tastes good, quality beers yeah right, totally the beers that we enjoy drinking, not random obscure ingredients beers just nice, sit down look at this place, it's just come one yeah, one of the beach there just enjoy the hospitality

20:23Keyzie:you'll be stoked too going into spring and summer, I imagine the numbers pick up a bit too with the good weather numbers should pick up mate, this could be the peak of the year though, who knows Who knows? We've got to get to some tunes now, but bloody good of you to put$20 ,000 on the bar, Waddy. Oh, wow. What an amazing point. Backbone. Holy cow. Waddy, mate. You are a backbone. You're the man, Waddy. It's all those Hobbit savings, mate. I'm just cracked straight on the bar. Thanks for joining us. Cheers, brother. And make sure you check out Parrot Dog down at Beervana tomorrow and also on Saturday.

20:54Tickets still available for some of the sessions, beervana.co.nz. What's this song, Jase? What? Jase. It's Jet. You're on Hauraki. Oh, right. Yeah, good. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

21:09Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Jet there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon, live from Parrot Dog in beautiful Lyle Bay. Now, plenty coming up after five o 'clock. Because we're on the road, we're going to have a special Thursday throbber, fellas. That's right. The way we do this at live shows now is we each play a snippet of a song, just like the regular throbber. However, the locals here in Wellington have to vote for which one they want to hear. That involves making a bit of noise. And the idea is you've come to a strange town. You've got to impress the locals with your musical taste. Yes.

21:43And there's also punishment whenever we do this on the road. So we've got a giant shot, which is two-thirds Tabasco sauce and a little bit of water there just to sort of help it down. Because it was quite chunky. So the loser will have to do the shot of Tabasco sauce. And Jace has got a funny tummy. so let's maybe... Don't vote for him because we don't want him to lose. Oh, I'm into it, man.

22:05Keyzie:I'm into it. Oh, you want to lose. Hopefully too we'll have a little chat to that league legend Charlie Gubba after five o 'clock. I'm looking forward to meeting him in the flesh, fellas. Yep, so am I. And I do just want to say there's a hell of a lot of room down the front here. So if you're up the back of Parrot Dog here, there is room here to bring your chairs down, push in. Jase likes his personal space to be interrupted as we all do. We really want to cram this up, get the vibe going, so don't be shy. Come on in and fill this space. Beautiful. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy.

22:37Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

22:43It's the Hauraki Big Show's Thursday. Throbber.

22:54Keyzie:Oh yeah, live from Parrot Dog and beautiful Lyle Bay this beautiful Thursday afternoon and I'm really stoked, Mogi, that you got all the people to press up nice and close and to crush the big show in their little space there. It's nice for you to be able to feel the weight of expectation all around you, Lee Jay. When's he going to say something funny? Yeah. Now listen, I think, do we all know what the throbber is? Yeah. What we do on a live show is that we do a throbber but the live audience decides to win it just by noise, eh, fellas? Yeah, and now Keezy's going to explain it properly. I was sitting there the whole time going, oh, man, this is a kind of half-assed way of explaining it.

23:35Nah, so basically the idea is you've walked into Wellington, you've never been here before, you've got to impress the parrot dog locals by picking an absolute belter of a tune, and you guys vote by making a whole heap of noise. We've got the order preset, and we've also got a punishment. Whoever loses the thrubber will have to do that shot, which is two-thirds kaitai afire, which is a delicious hot sauce one third water just to take the edge off yeah, yeah nice alright so Hoody J mate do you want to kick us off with your wee throw over there what have you got?

24:06Keyzie:I've got a New Zealand classic fella so give me a bit of support, fire it off

24:15Keyzie:okay it's not looking good at this stage no it's alright okay it's alright

24:22Keyzie:that's not the part I would have You picked that part of that song, didn't you? No, I didn't, Jason. Look, that's just a classic hoity J throbber. I don't know what to tell you. All right, this is my choice, by the way, Bomb Funk MCs.

24:42This is not looking good for me. No, this happened last time. All right, so Bomb Funk MCs, that's what I've gone for. Bomb what? Bomb Funk MCs. They're a new band. You should check them out. And for me personally, obviously, it's been a bit of a sad last couple of months with the passing of DJ Moo, Chris Faiumu. So that's why I have gone with Fat Freddy's Drops, Fat Freddy's Drops, Slings and Arrows.

25:15Alright, so that's just the precursor. You know what the songs are now. Have a think about it. We're going to go to another tune. We're going to go to another tune, and then Pony J will do a show. I mean, and then we'll figure out who has won and who has lost. The Thursday Throbber. Here's the blind. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

25:41Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show. Cheers, bro. Throbber. Yeah. Come on, Jase, man. It sure is. Well, we each choose a tune. The live audience decides which one they love the most by making the most noise. Yes. And the loser gets to skull that delicious glass of, what is it, Kaitaia 5? Yeah, it's a beautiful New Zealand-made hot sauce, so you're supporting local hoody. Oh, I mean, whoever loses is supporting local, which is great. And the idea is you pick a banger to impress the Wellington locals. And Jase, what have you come with me? What did you start with, Jase? And just tune your ears in New Zealand.

26:26Keyzie:Just get fired up. Come on now. A bit of Hello Sailor.

26:37Keyzie:Oh, man. Okay. It was a very sedate part of the song. Yeah, yeah. A sedate part of the song. I chose a brand new tune from Bomb Funk MCs. it's called Freestyler.

26:57Oh,

27:00Keyzie:we're pretty close here too.

27:04Yeah.

27:10You were playing the whole song there. No, that's not me. What are you talking about? So at the end of this, we're going to point to each person and then we'll do the big cheer, right? For me, it is Wellington. it's Fat Freddy's drop it is slings and arrows

27:30alrighty so the Thursday Throbber live Wellington edition we'll start we'll go this way and you guys just make noise for which song you want to win alright first of all who votes for Hello Sailor Blue Lady Hoity J

27:47hey

27:48Keyzie:Hey, that's been a turnaround. I like that. I like that you were sulking. That was good. No, this is a true story. I've been getting massive stomach cramps and explosive diarrhoea for the last two days. So the idea that I'm going to punch that down is not thrilling me. But if I have to, by God, I will. That reminds me, actually, if anyone wants a photo with Jason, any point? Yeah, get it in quick. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who wants to vote for Keezy Bomb Funk MC's freestyler?

28:29Keyzie:Oh, God. Wow. Jeez. That's been a turnaround. That's a shocker. And then, of course, Mogi. Mogi.

28:47All right, and then one final one. Who's voting for Keezy? Oh, that sounds pretty good. A lot of people at the back there in the dining area. And who's voting for Woody Jane?

29:05Keezy! Keezy! Keezy! Keezy! Keezy! Keezy! Keezy! Keezy! KZ! KZ! KZ! KZ! KZ!

29:18Keyzie:KZ! KZ! KZ! KZ! KZ!

29:26KZ!

29:27Keyzie:Where's the fucking water? Where's the water?

29:35The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and KZ.

29:40Keyzie:Fat Freddy's drop there on the radio. Hodaki, big show this Thursday afternoon, live from Parrot Dog in Lionel Bay, Wellington. We've just had the throbber. There was a resounding winner. Oh, there was. Oh, Mogi. Yeah. And there was a resounding loser. Oh, Keezy. How are you doing, Keezy? You all right, mate? Well, Keezy, to be fair to Keezy, and I'm only speaking for him because he's now currently trying to drink a glass of ice, and I'm not even joking. There's no water in it. I overheard him talking to Pugs. He said, Pugs, Pugs. Can you go up and see if they serve ice cream here, man? Old Keezy's hanging out for an ice cream.

30:20So, I don't know, Keezy, how is it, brother? Yeah, what's going on, man? It's really good.

30:24Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. Well, your voice is actually sounding better, is it? Yeah, totally. You look as though you've had a couple of bucky bongs, but other than that, you look great, mate. What it is, and Minaya had this when he did the show with us down in Christchurch. He did the same thing. And you do the shot, and you're like, oh, that's all G. and you fire up the Fat Freddy's and you're like, oh, the Wellington locals are loving this. And then all of a sudden, it's like in your stomach, it's like molten lava down there. Yes. And the back of my throat and the top of my mouth, really, really hot. You wouldn't believe it.

30:56Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And so I asked for if they had like an ice cream sundae and they brought out a pint of ice cubes. Yeah, nice. So I'm just going to, yeah. But I thought of a rule for next time. Yes. Keith has got a new rule, new bit of admin. A new bit of admin. and next time we do it, we'd play the songs. We won't say whose song is whose. Right. Yeah. I don't know about that one, man. No, because I think it's like an anti-Keezy conspiracy.

31:20Keyzie:You know, I'm happy to do it. Like, easily the second favourite out of all of those songs was Blue Lady by Hello Sailor. I mean, people love that song, man. They do. Who loves bomb-funk MCs compared to Blue Lady? Yeah, well, you know what happened initially? Because initially there was a bit of a muted response. There was. I was stunned. I hadn't heard it for decades. Exactly. And I think the emotional impact silenced the crowd. And then they had time to think about it. I went, oh, God, I love this song so much. How are you going, Keezy? You're so full of shit. They just wanted to see me drink hot sauce.

31:58Keyzie:Just a reminder, too, of the tip jar in the corner. Oh, yeah. Please contribute to the tip jar. How are we looking, fellas? All right, we've got some socks. A pair of socks. Yeah, nice. I've got a packet of cheese balls, about a key to a Toyota Caldina, a handful of durries. Yeah, a handful of darts. That's good stuff. What's on? A Hot Wheels car, new in packet. What's on that napkin there? Has someone given us your phone number?

32:26Nah. That's just like a thing. And a Connie. Oh, a Connie. A Connie as well.

32:32Keyzie:Oh, Pugs is giving us a tip. Incidentally, by the way, if you need a Connie, you know who you ask, eh? Old Pug-san here. He's the backbone of this show, but if you're running short of Connies, old Connie Pug-san will sort you out, eh, Pug-san? Good on you, you massive backbone. Good on you, you massive backbone. Hey, hopefully soon we'll be talking to Charlie. Is he here? Charlie Garber. Haven't seen him yet. Point him out if you see him. Yeah, good stuff. In the meantime, let's go to another tune. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey. Radio Hauraki Big Show and it's going off at Parrot Dog and Lyle Bay.

33:15Keyzie:She's filling up. I just want to say, read the tip jar over there. Please don't be putting durries in there. Don't be doing that, OK? Because I'm right on the edge at the moment and I'm quite happy doing my vaping. and if I see a whole plethora of ciggies in there, it might just break me, fellas. I don't see why you should ruin my night, man. Yeah, no, that's true. Yeah, thanks, man. Fill it with durries if you want to. We are running a tip jar, by the way, because that seems to be a thing that's creeping into New Zealand. We've got a whole list which we'll go through shortly. Am I right in saying, Pugs, that we had some actual money go in there?

33:50Is that right? Yeah. How much? Two bucks. Two bucks. And one American dollar. So we've had our first cash go into the bucket. Yeah, good shit, man. It's huge. Very strange, though. The$1 bill from America has rolled up. Yeah, that's weird. I don't know what the deal with that is. That is kind of a bit dodged, isn't it? What a weird way to store your money. Yeah. Well, that's like 50 bucks New Zealand, isn't it?

34:12Keyzie:One American bill. One dollar. Yeah. Actually, can I have that dollar? Hey, fellas. Interesting situation I'm facing on Saturday. And, Mogi, this is about you as well. What's not, actually? I'm going to a baby shower. I'm going to a baby shower and it's my first ever baby shower and I was trying to figure out why it's my first ever one because a lot of my friends have had babies but it's because traditionally I think the females go to the baby shower traditionally yeah and switching it up now which is cool so I've been invited it's at like 1pm on a Saturday 3 hours and I just don't know what to sort of what do I do at a baby shower I'm thinking a 6 pack of beers oh yeah at least I mean responsibly No totally but it's not a pisser So I'm just going to say a six pack The Waz are playing later on So I have my Waz jersey on as well But I was like that's a kind of like Here for a mellow afternoon What do you think?

35:12Well what is a baby shower? So you go around there and everybody gives presents I'm assuming to the mother to be And then she opens them in front of everybody That's given her the gifts And then everybody sits around going Is that what it is? I think so. So you're going to have to practice your...

35:29Keyzie:Can I just tell you, fellas? Let's hear your... And then rub her belly a lot. Because what I've found with pregnant women... Did you want me to do it or no? ...is that they love people constantly coming up to them and rubbing their bellies. Oh, really? But one of the weirdest gigs I ever did was when I did a baby shower when I was stripping. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was full on, man, because I went to the wines. Old Hoody J just popped out there in my jodpers and stuff. It was crazy stuff. You were dancing to Blue Lady. Yeah, Blue Lady, man. Weirdly enough, it was so weird.

36:10God, that would have been a down-buzz baby show. What was the baby's name?

36:14Keyzie:Well, it hadn't been born yet. They hadn't named it. Surely the baby has now been named. Well, I don't know. It was just a stripper being hired and then I left. You know what I mean? It was just a gun for hire, Casey. Man, I was manhandled that day too, man. Jeez. If I could just bring it back to me. Oh, yeah. Sure, man. What I was after was advice on what I'm supposed to do at this point. Well, I think you should turn down the invitation. Yes. Because I think there's very few places where women can go to be happy about motherhood on their own with other women. And I think you stepping in on...

36:48Well, I'm not stepping in. Excuse me. stepping in on their safe place, which is what you're doing, will undermine and ruin a very special time in any mother's life. And I think you've got a goddamn cheek, Kesey, even pushing your way into such an event. And it's shameful behaviour. Ah, yeah. I mean, I've... I mean, do you want to go, man? No. I mean, yes, because they're very close friends of mine. Oh, yeah. But I don't want to push my way into a baby shower if I'm not welcome. I thought I was welcome because they said it to us, like, hey, we'd love for you both to come to the baby shower.

37:23Keyzie:Right, okay. Yeah, yeah. Well, apart from my stripping, I've never been to a baby shower. You know what I mean? Because back in my day, in my rooting days, if I could put it like that, you know, it was woman-only, Mogi. Yes, it was. And there was no thought of a man being there, you know, filthying the place up. But then still someone hired you as a stripper. Yeah, but they hired me as a stripper. On that occasion, yeah, sure. What were you dressed as? Well, as I say, it's a cowboy. Oh, right. I had my leather jodhpurs, but nothing underneath. Right, okay. And a cowboy hat and a little bandana.

37:58Yeah, Casey, well, let's hear your aww when you see the presents. Yeah. Okay, so they've opened a present. Yeah. It's a little, like, onesie. Yeah, a little onesie. Aw. That's really good, man. Is that good? They're going to be so happy to have you there. Okay, cool. I'm excited now, fellas. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

38:23Keyzie:Lincoln Park there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon live from Parrot Dog in Lyle Bay. That's right, we're down here in Wellington for Bear Vana. Parrot Dog are going to be there as well. If you are interested in beers and food and ciders and cocktails and all sorts of things, there are still some tickets available for some of the sessions at Bear Vana down here in Wellington. Head to beervana.co.nz to grab your tickets. They are selling out fast. We've actually got a few to give away tonight, which is bloody exciting. Yeah, that's really exciting. Yeah, so if you'd like to win some and get a backbone shirt, come down to Parrot Dog, Lyle Bay, Wellington.

38:58How good. Really good. Now, in the last break there, old Keezy here was regaling us with the yarn that he's got to attend a baby shower. First ever time, yeah. First ever, which is a bit of a shock because generally it's been reserved for females will attend the baby shower. There's no equivalent for males. I don't know why that is, but you're saying, Kesey, that your mates have decided to make it mixed, and men and women have been invited to come along. Yeah, and one other time, I think we did a thing called wetting the baby's head, which is where you and the fellas go away and just get steamed.

39:29Yeah, that's right. So while your partner is still in the hospital recovering from the birth, you go out and get maggoted for about a week. Is that what that is?

39:39Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I didn't know that was... That's traditional. That's traditional. And you can't mess with tradition, Kesey, so you've got all that in front of you. And you give out cigars and stuff like that. Yeah, that's right. Wow. Steamed. Yeah, exactly. It used to be that across from Wellington Hospital down here, there was a bar. And when the wives would go in and they would give birth, they were literally not allowed to be in the birthing suite. And all the fathers would go over to the pub across the road. And then eventually the phone would ring. The hospital had calls them up and says, your wife has given birth.

40:06You can come on over. You've got a son or a daughter or whatever it might be. Wow. And he's absolutely hammered because she's been in labour for 24 hours and he's been at a bar for 24 hours. How long ago was this? Oh, for me, about six years ago. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

40:20Keyzie:I actually, I was in the birthing suite with my wife. But she was making so much noise, I had to get out of there, you know what I'm saying? I mean, look, I know that birthing is hard. Yeah. But, you know, I was a bit over the top. Yeah. So I went across to the bar there and had a few beersies just to settle my nerves. Yeah, I know. But one of the things you were doing there, Kesey, when they unveiled the onesie, for example. Yeah, okay. The opening presents. Yeah, the opening presents for the baby. I was a little bit concerned about your, oh, you know what I mean? Because that's got to come across as...

41:02Sincere. Sincere. All right, so you've just opened a little toddler romper or something. Yeah. And I'm, oh.

41:09Keyzie:No, that's like you're taking the piss. Yeah, that's like you're massively taking the piss. Yeah. Well, I don't want to take the piss. That sounds like you're mocking. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. Still not good. That's not. You see that little laugh there? Yeah, yeah. The little, oh. Or should I go down? Like, oh. No. No. No, that doesn't work either. Well, what should I do? Probably more up. It's up. It's, oh. You know, it's like, wow, look at this. Yeah, yeah. Sort of like that, but just sort of level it out. Oh, okay. Sort of like, oh. Yeah, yeah. Oh! I would go more, oh! Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah.

41:46Oh!

41:50Keyzie:Right. So sort of like. Because birth and birthing is a very primal thing. But we're not at the birth. Yeah, I know. Yeah, we're opening presents at the baby shower. Yeah, presents. So, yeah. And they pull out. We remember we used to have the little backbone onesies. Yeah. And I remember the first time I saw those, I was like, ah! Ah! Yeah. You know what I mean? And that was just a natural reaction to it. And the wives understand that on a primal level. Yeah, they do. Okay, so. You try it. We're at the baby shower. They've opened it. It's a backbone onesie. Yes. And I'm sort of just like, ah! That's something else, Keith.

42:31Can you do it again? Ah!

42:41Keyzie:Give it another try. Give it another whirl. I'm just going to... You can't laugh, man. I'm going to click not attending. If you're not going to take this seriously, man, I'm not going to bother, Keezy. Hey, backbones, here's a bit of rage. Get it in, yeah. Get it out. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Nirvana there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening, live from Parrot Dog in Lyle Bay. If you're in the area and you're not here, squeeze yourself in because it's going off now. Coming up after 6 o 'clock, as always on a Thursday, what's on the dinner with me, Keezy?

43:21Keyzie:Which is massively, massively popular. Keezy was a bit iffy about doing it today, but I said, no siree, Bob, we're firing it off, mate. And as soon as you mentioned it, the whole place went off. They are frothing at the prospect. I just think we've come all this way. We're doing a live show at a pub. It's going off. Rage Against the Machines playing. I don't think we just stop down while I read out what's happening for dinner around New Zealand. I just feel like it's boring. Bro, people love it. They do, man. Really? It's rock and roll. Yeah, man. And that includes the people that are here and, of course, the people across this great nation of ours on 3483.

43:58Keyzie:That's right. Text us what you're having for dinner. every single text in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. Beautiful. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're our Thursday evenings going along. Tickety-boo, this is a big show live from Parrot Dog in Lyle Bay. By the way, the big show brought to you by Reburgers. Yeah. How's that? How good? A chair for a burger joint. I like it. Yeah, it's great stuff. Serving good. Sorry, Jase. Serving good times and good food. Dine in or takeaway at Reburger today.

44:37Good stuff, man. Beautiful.

44:39Keyzie:You got Reburger down here in Welly? Yeah. Yeah, boy. Now you're talking. Fellas, before we get into the rest of the show, I just want to read a message that we got and get your views on it. And it says, hey, fellas, would I be the asshole if I came to Parrot Dog for a backbone shirt, then gapped it. The Missos brother wants one, and I listen to Flavour. I reckon that's... It's worth a shot, man. I'm sorry with that, man. Is that dude here? Yeah, I want to see him. Yeah, yeah. Is it really? No way it is. You don't listen to Flavour. Oh, sorry, I'm judging. He was hurt then. He went, I do. For the audience, yeah, that's my bad.

45:28Keyzie:Do we have the racism alarm? No, we don't. We don't. Racism alarm. Oh, we do! Racism alarm. Jeez. We do have the racism alarm. Excellent. Hey, huge segment coming up. What's on the, what is it? What's on the dinner with me, Keezy? What do you mean, what is it? We do it every week, Keezy. Come on, man. It just doesn't make sense grammatically. What's on the dinner with me, Keezy? Coming up next, so text through on 3483. What you are having for dinner, every single text in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. And we're going to start this hour with an absolute rager of a tune. And this one goes out to everyone at Lyle Bay, Parrot Dog in Wellington, all right?

46:07Get stuck in. Still an hour left of the show too, so come on by. Yeah, definitely. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey. Yes, indeed. The red hot.

46:19Keyzie:It's chilli peppers here on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. It's getting a bit dark here in Lyle Bay at the beautiful Parrot Dog. It's going off. But right now it's time for... Hey, guys. Text here from Steve. What's on the dinner? With me, Keyes. Keyes. Yeah. Woo! Come on now. Now you're talking. Now we're firing. Can you just relax, please, Jase? This is so good. Yeah, it's great. It's me reading texts about what people are eating for dinner. And for some reason, everyone loves it. Yeah, it's just huge. But do they really, though? Yeah, totally, man. Oh, yeah, they love it, man.

47:03Okay. All right, we'll try this on for size there, fellas. This comes in from Tony. Oh, my God. Tony. Tony Gregg. Tony Gregg? I don't know who that is. He's a cricket commentator. Oh, wow. That's exciting. Tony Soprano. Oh, wow.

47:18Keyzie:Tony Soprano. Amazing. G'day, guys. He's got the prawns on the barbie, but they won't last. Steak coming up, sirloin. No, that's surf and turf. I'm not having that. Yeah, no. I hate a surf and turf. That's rubbish. Especially in this time of year. You don't have a prawn at this time of year. Prawn is a summer food. I agree with you, Maggie. Totally. That's disgusting. Yeah. What do we think about prawns and steak, legends? See, they hate it. We just got a room full of people to cheer for prawns and steak. This radio show is so weird. It's a pair of this segment. G'day, fellas. Daniel here. Radcliffe.

47:57Oh, that's good. Did you say Daniel Loda? What? The name was Daniel, right? Yeah. You're off your face, Mogey, responsibly. Homemade fish and prawn Thai curry. Smiley face emoji. How do you have homemade fish? Oh, come on, Chase. No, I'm serious. How do you have homemade fish? Read that out again, man. Homemade fish? Nah. That's not it man Yeah that's disgusting Yeah I hadn't thought about that Jase You're right man There's no such thing

48:26Keyzie:Almost as shocking as tofu Hey Pugs G'day fellas Joel here Joel Edgerton Joel Tobeck Yep Which one? The second one G'day fellas Joel Tobeck here Having mac and cheese With a cagey block of cheese For dinner No, people are loving it, yeah. Yeah, yeah. People are loving it, yeah. Really? It's heartwarming stuff. That's good. Yeah, that's heartwarming. Easy to cook. You can turn that around about 20 or 30. Yeah, totally, mate. It's cheesy good. I call it comfort food, mate. Yeah, thanks, mate. You know what I mean? Just really comforting food on a cold night. Totally, brother. What about, check this one out, fellas.

49:09Try this one off for size. G'day, fellas. Ted here. Who? Ted. Dancing. Oh, nice. Yep. Yeah, good. Yeah, cool. Ted Danson from Bledham. Wow, he's moved to Bledham. Wow. He has. G'day, fellas. Having a cheeky smoked pulled pork and white death. Nah. So just smoked pulled pork on white sandwich bread. Right. Jase, you hate pulled pork. Why is that?

49:34Keyzie:Well, it's just such bullshit, Mogi. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's like smashed avocado. Yeah. I can fork my own avocado, thanks very much. You know what I'm saying? I'm not paying another$16 because some dickhead put a fork in my avocado. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The next CS here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening, live from Parrot Dog and Lyle Bay, Wellington. Now, people may or may not be aware that Bear Varn is starting up tomorrow. Are we aware of that audience? Yeah. With that in mind, we've got one of the backbones that's behind it all, and that's Ryan.

50:25Keyzie:G'day, Ryan, you mad bastard. How's life? How's it going? Life's pretty good. It's been a long day at the stadium setting up. I thought I'd come out for a quiet fight. Yeah, good idea, man. Why wouldn't you? You screwed that up. It's not quiet. Way too many faces. Now tell me, man, because it's been going off. how are you looking this year? Yeah, we're looking great. I mean, we're in Parrot Dog and Parrot Dog haven't done any festivals for a while and they've decided to come out and come back out into the public. Yes. And I saw their stand set up earlier today and it looks incredible. Yeah. I'm stoked to have them and sometimes it's just about my personal likes and I like to drink Parrot Dog.

51:04Yeah, good on you. Ryan. Ryan from Beervana. G'day. Keezy here, man. Hope you're doing really well. I'm doing well, bro. Yeah, there you go. Now we're good. Yeah. So obviously if you love beer, right, you set up a brewery like Parrot Dog. Yeah. If you really love beer, you set up an event where every brewery like Parrot Dog comes to Sky Stadium. Yeah, but then the irony is that I don't get to drink any beer during this event. What? Stop making an event yourself. Yeah, come on. Are you serious? I'm not too good to put me on the fucking radio. No, totally. Yeah, totally. Is that true? You don't even have any beers?

51:34Well, no, it's about 11 o 'clock on Saturday night when I've kicked everyone out. Yeah. And then I have an hour where I just do a loop of the stadium and that's Ryan's hour. So I get to drink whatever's left over. Everyone gives me beers if they've had a great time. And then I go drink gin and tonics until four in the morning. Yeah, nice.

51:53Keyzie:So how many breweries have you got this year attending? Yeah, I think all up we've got about 63 breweries. We've got three breweries over from Sunshine Coast. And then somewhere in the crowd here are our friends from Seoul, Korea. Oh, yeah, I saw that. We've got two breweries from Seoul that have come over. It's incredible. I thought we were going to be talking to those guys today. Are they pulled out? No, no, they're over there somewhere, and if you want to talk to one of them, they'll come out. Jason's over there. He's waving in the corner. Good on you. You're back, mate. Ryan from Biavana, is that a bit of your mission to make this a bit more of an international situation moving forward?

52:31It's more like, obviously, 90 % of the breweries that are in Biavana are from New Zealand, and it's built to be the greatest celebration of this industry. There's 370 beers pouring. 70 of those are trophy, gold, silver, bronze medal winners from the recent awards. Yes. It's the best place to do that. But also, we kind of have the opportunity through partnerships to bring some people over and bring beers that you can't get in New Zealand. You can't try these beers. Yeah. You have to go to Seoul, Korea, to drink those beers, or you come to Vibana. Right. So, for example, Jase wants to go to South Korea.

53:10Yeah. I do. I'm going next year. But he can just flag that, go to Beervana. Just go to Beervana.

53:18Keyzie:Sounds fantastic to me. How good's that, man? Yeah, that's really good. The other thing that we try to do is not just kind of bring them over and pour their beer. It's kind of to build relationships between those breweries and our breweries. Yeah, nice. So Soul Brewery is a great example. They were up in Auckland, did a beer with Liberty Brewing, who you guys know well. Then flew down to Queenstown and did a beer with Altitude. And then came up to Wellington, did a beer with Duncan's. and then they're at the festival this year. So suddenly there's all these friendships and then, you know, people go to Seoul and do a beer with them there.

53:47Keyzie:How good, man. Yeah, bringing people together. Yeah, that's fantastic. How are the ticket sales looking this year? I mean, they're looking pretty good. Yeah. The day sessions are sold out. Yes. There might be a couple of tickets that we found down the back of the couch for the gate sessions tomorrow. Yes. Night sessions, there's still plenty of tickets available. Come along. Yeah. They're always, it's always, We call it party with a lowercase p. Sure. Yeah, okay. It's about not being a dick to everyone. It's about trying lots of beers and being responsible. Of course. But it's also the kind of party with a lowercase p.

54:19With a small p. Yeah. Actually, we know what it's like. With a small p. Party with a small p, absolutely. He's talking about your downstairs, Jason. Yeah. That was a joke. I wrote that joke earlier.

54:33Keyzie:How does he know about your downstairs? KC, everyone knows my downstairs is massive, right? Yeah, well done, mate. But hey, Ryan, all the best, man. Friday, Saturday, if you haven't got your tickets, get in there. Because there's still tickets to be sold. Bearvana.co.uk We'll be out there tomorrow, won't we, at the day session. We'll see you there. And get involved. We've been there a few years in a row. It's a fantastic event. You do not want to miss it. It's only once a year. Get involved. Bloody oath. And of course, you can't talk about beers and Bearvana without playing a little bit of bliss.

55:03You're the dude. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Casey.

55:11Keyzie:The Killers here on the radio, Hauraki Big Show. Live from the Paradox in Lyle Bay. She's getting heavy and loose in here. I'll tell you what, there's going to be a few sick days tomorrow. Look at these backbones here. Hey, but right now it's time for... Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.

55:37Get in touch with the fellas Sorry my voice has gone to shit I don't know why It's all good It's sounding great Keezy Thanks man As long as the content's good Exactly Get in touch with the fellas Yeah nice That's a lovely bed there Made by old Pugson Pugson Remember it's a real email address meetpattynips69 at gmail.com if you ever need advice on anything 100 % anonymous and if we read it out on the radio $50 reburger voucher straight away how good and by straight away I mean give it like two weeks probably about four yeah four weeks g'day fellas anonymous here just like Keezy and Mogey I have recently been on an overseas trip including European countries Jase

56:25Keyzie:yeah man well someone gave me some Euro coins before I was just going to say man you simply must I simply must go to Europe. Absolutely. Euro coins. It's called the Euro. Well, the Euro. Yeah. So just make, if you go. You see, this is why I can't go to Europe. I'm not ready yet. I don't think you are. Listen, fellas, we have been saving for our trip of a lifetime, and it was fantastic. Since coming back, I have done what everyone else does when they come back, tell yarns about the glorious sights of Europe, walls, et cetera. But I am now on the horns of a dilemma. Do I brag about our epic trip and make references that only people that have been to Europe would know, like the fellas?

57:04Or do I be modest and boring so they don't get excluded? Appreciate any advice, cheers. Oh, he's got it around the wrong way. He's been boring by telling them about the trip. Yes. He's saying he's been modest and boring, but nobody's interested.

57:18Keyzie:Well, here's a case in point on that front. I mean, you guys won't know this, but I went to Vietnam at the beginning of the year. Did you hear me banging on about it? Did you hear me? No, that's right. Well, you kind of built your whole personality around it for a bit. Yeah, that's right. I personally think the more he sort of tells other people about the amazingness of Europe. Yeah. Because it's kind of an undercover place that not a lot of people know about. Yeah, it's true. You know what I mean? It's true. Not a lot of people know that there's this place called Europe where you can go and there's heaps of cobbled streets and walls and cheese.

57:54Cathedrals and cheese. Have you been researching? The other thing that we've got going on, as you guys might know, Jace has taken an idea for a television show to TVNZ. And it's where he goes out to the provinces of New Zealand and he talks to backbones. So there might be a rodeo happening down in Goran. Jace will go down there, he'll talk to the local backbones, and then every episode finishes up with Jace at the local brothel. Now that show's called Hoity Jizz's Brothel Rampage. So you could make this an international... People love it. They want to see it. So this could be an international series that you could do, Jase, where you travel all around Europe.

58:37Yes. Taking your brothel rampage. International. Can you imagine the viewers you'd get, man?

58:43Keyzie:Oh, man, yeah. It sounds so good. And I tell you, my wife's really into it too. But, you know, as I said, I had a meeting with TVNZ yesterday, the sort of elevator pitch where I got in with one of the execs in the elevator. He said, you've got to the top floor. I said, it's like Heartland, all the feel goods ending with three or four minutes of absolute hoody jizz filth. Yeah, that's right. What was the executive wearing? Do you want me to jump in here? Yeah, could you? A Warriors jersey. Oh, Warriors. Come on, hoody jay. My bad, man. You're back, man. God, I was there too, by the way. that's how I know yeah cool so hopefully that advice helped yeah I'm sure it did I can't even remember what the question was I can't remember the question but you've got yourself a$50 re-burger voucher and if you ever need advice meet pattynip69 at gmail.com The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt Mike Minogue and Kesey oh yes indeed G-Hard there to finish us off this magnificent Thursday night at Parrot Dog in Lyle Bay Wellington and what an absolute pleasure, fellas.

1:00:00Keyzie:Because we've been down to Wellington many, many times. Unfortunately, when we've been doing our shows, it's been in the break between sessions at Bear Varda. That's right. So we've massively appreciated Parrot Dog hosting us and seeing all you backbones turn up. Without... Yeah, baby. And let me just say, really heartfelt here, that without you backbones, the big show, well, it'd still be amazing, but there'd just be less people listening. So thanks so much. Really appreciate it. Before we wrap up there, fellas, we started a new initiative for our live show. It was the big show, Tip Jar. It's the bucket at the front of the stand here if you're here in person.

1:00:42And I'm just going to go through the tips that we have received so far because I'm anti-tipping culture, but seeing what they have given us has changed my mind. Here's what we've got so far. A belt. Yeah. someone's forklift license a spare key to a Toyota Caldina somewhere in Upper Hutt a massage loyalty card with 4 out of 6 stamps to get$10 off a Levi's t-shirt a handful of ciggies a Hot Wheels Range Rover still in packet one condom some socks a KFC VIP card a fast ferry card a sticking plaster a French public transport swipe card a tampon minus two durries. It's from Dilly. Hands off, mate. Yeah, filthy.

1:01:26It's not for you, Dilly. It's a filthy habit. Dilly, stop that shit, man. A Bunnings trade card, woolly socks, a sticker with Hugh Grant on it, a wooden spatula, and a wooden doorstop. How about that? Yeah, boy. We're rich.

1:01:40Keyzie:We are rich. I tells you. And we're going to put all of that shit on the bar tonight. Yeah, good stuff. In all seriousness, Wellington, Absolutely love you. We do love you. You're one of our, the backbones of Wellington have made a huge difference to our show. We do very well down in Welly because we love Wellington, don't we, Fowler? We do. You guys get it. You get it, man. You get it. Thank you so much, Wellington. We'll be back again next year for Bear Vada, hopefully before then as well. Make some noise because you guys have been fantastic. Woo! KZ! KZ! KZ! KZ! KZ!
