0:08Keyzie:Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad boss. It's great to have your company on this very, very, very gloomy Friday afternoon. Oh, what's the date today? The 4th of June? 5th of June, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.
0:37Mike Minogue:Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Reburger are redefining the norm. Come on, Kees, you've got to put a bit into it, man. I mean, you're making me want to go home and never buy anything again. The point is to get sales up for Reburger, not make people never want to have Reburger ever again. So we'll just try that again, man. Okay. Brought to you by Reburger. Yeah. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Ree burger are redefining the norm. Yum.
1:04Keyzie:I think that's as good as we're going to get. Yeah, I don't think we need to push him anymore, Moogie. Tell you what, mate, you're looking in fine fiddled and you're tidy whitey. How's life, you mad bastard? Got it pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. I'm just bathing in the afterglow of the New Zealand Radio and Podcast Awards 2026 that were held last night. Jase, we went along, didn't we, to the event there, the awards. The first time I've ever been, I think possibly the second time you've been in 15 years. What an occasion. I feel so grateful to be a part of this industry, and that really was the night of nights.
1:37You were there as well, Kesey. How are you feeling?
1:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm feeling really great. Obviously, the awards are just a small part of it. It's what you do after the awards that really leaves a lasting memory. Yeah. Well, do you really have any memory? No, I do. I had a great time last night. Yeah. and 3 a.m. this morning I was in my lounge eating Reburger. Yeah, when you say that, I don't know if you remember the images, the video, the viral video that came out maybe 15, maybe 20 years ago of David Hasselhoff. The video was taken by his daughter. He came home absolutely hammered, was lying on the floor with his shirt off, eating a burger, dropping most of it onto the carpet.
2:20And that's what I see when I think of you at home eating Reburger at 3am. Is that about right?
2:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, I reckon that's probably about right. And then quickly brush my teeth and hop into bed.
2:31Keyzie:With just like meat patty all over you.
2:33Mike Minogue:Sauce all over your face. Hey, hey Zaz. And then have a yarn with my missus. She's not into it. She's not into it. She's not into it. She's not into it.
2:43Keyzie:She's not into it. Yeah, it's been a busy day. Jase. How are you today, man? Yeah, good, thank you. Can't complain. You look great. Thank you. New shirt, of course. You guys haven't noticed. I'm surprised. You always wear that shirt. It's actually not a new shirt. It's a second-hand shirt, but it's the first time I've worn it. Bought by my wife. It's pretty cool, eh? Well, they can't all be winners, man. Yeah, that's true. Hey, now listen. We have a massive show, as you can imagine, coming up. Oh, my God. So please. Wait, hang on. I want you to know. we are not going to be half-arsing this show just because Keezy is an absolute shadow of himself.
3:20This is going to be the best show of the year. So stay tuned.
3:23Mike Minogue:Stay tuned, yeah. And speaking of, do you want me to play the coming up in the show? Oh, look, I can't be bothered, really. Oh, sorry, I've already fired it off. What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogey? Well, it's a Friday. That means it's time for a throbber. No, I'm not talking about Keezy's headache.
3:45Ah, yeah. But mostly we're going to be going over, raking over the coals of the Radio Awards last night, asking a question. We've got a big poll coming up next, and you want to get involved with it, because I'll be honest with you, I'm not sure having Keezy here today is the best thing for the show. What do you mean? I'm sweet, man. I'm ready to go. He is an albatross around our necks. Can I put it that way?
4:08Keyzie:I have never seen him look more pale and green around the gills as I have today. I normally don't recommend people take sick days because they're hungover. Yes. But I don't know, man.
4:21Mike Minogue:Well, you could have told me this before I came in. That would have been great to know. This is a tune, though, comfortably shagged. That's how I feel right now. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
4:35Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Velvet Revolver there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 13 minutes past four o 'clock, which means it's time for... The Big Pole.
4:52Keyzie:Let's cut to the chase. There was the Radio Awards last night. Old Mogi and I went along. The whole team went. In fact, it was great. But Mogi and I did not participate in the after party, of which Kesey did vigorously.
5:07Mike Minogue:Yeah, so there's an after-party, and then there's an after-after-party. Oh, there were two after-parties. And then we sort of ended up in G-Lane's hotel room at about 2, 3 a.m. in the morning. Right, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
5:17Keyzie:So it's fair to say Keezy's a broken man. I don't know. I mean... I mean, he's so broken... What? ...that Mogi and I have had a little discussion about whether or not we need to sort of have him here. A little vomit in the corner just before and a little bucket. He's pale. He looks very sad and broken. He's got his hoodie up. He does. So the big poll today is very, very simple. Should we send Keezy home? Yes or no?
5:53Mike Minogue:Can I just say I don't want to be sent home. I'm here to do a job. This has got nothing to do with what you want. Right. It's what's best for the show, Keezy. Now, the only thing that sort of, I don't know, gives me pause, Jase, if I could put it that way, is why should we reward Keezy for his bad behaviour? That's true. But at the same time, why should we punish the audience for Keezy's bad behaviour? See, I would argue that having me here, admittedly not feeling the best, and having the full team together is better than me not being here.
6:23Keyzie:Yeah, I mean, that makes me think that you're probably still pissed. Yeah, same, same.
6:30Mike Minogue:Right. Well, look, 3483, feel free to text your opinions. I mean, I think I sound all right.
6:36Keyzie:Look, the only thing is, the only redeeming feature potentially is that people love it when Keezy is massively hungover. Yes. You know what I mean? And they might go, no, I want to see him dragged out over the hours doing live radio, feeling like a piece of excrement.
6:56Mike Minogue:Okay, well, look, we'll do a big poll. The Hodaki Big Show Instagram story. you can vote there. Now, of course, the other problem is that we can't have a binding referendum because actually whether the audience think he should go home or not, whether we think he should go home or not, we don't actually have the power to send him home. No. So potentially we should call your boss. Why? And ask him. I just don't think it's as big of a deal. Why? I don't, you know what I mean? Like I'm here. I know, but that's the thing, Kesey. Sometimes when you're sitting inside your head, you don't see things as they actually are.
7:28and we wouldn't be bringing this up if you weren't in an absolute disgrace of a shambles. I mean, this is the worst one ever. What?
7:40Keyzie:No, it's not. I mean, there's quite a few to compare it to, but it is a shocking bastard, as you would say, Maggie. So I think we give Aussie Toddy a ring. We'll get him on the line next day and see what he reckons because I think after what was a pretty glorious evening last night, we won a few awards there, the whole thing just gets dragged down again. People say, oh, Honeke's won a few. I might tune in, and this is what they get?
8:11Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, totally. Yeah. I mean, it has left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth, although that could just be some sick coming up. I don't know.
8:18Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, it's a bit of bile I think you'll find, Kesey.
8:21Mike Minogue:3483, give your opinions. Are you going to go again? Get ready. Are you going again? No, I'm not.
8:29Keyzie:Oh!
8:32Mike Minogue:Oh! Come on, man! Smashing pumpkins.
8:40Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
8:46Keyzie:The Black Keys here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 24 minutes past four o 'clock. Keezy's having a shocker. He went to both after parties last night, and he's really feeling it today. The big poll, therefore, was should we just send Keezy home, yes or no?
9:03Mike Minogue:I personally feel fine. Yeah. I also think it's certainly early days as far as this particular show is concerned. I've still got time to prove myself. But we also asked for texts on 3483, and they're coming in, which is really great, like this one here. Keezy sounds like shit. Well, that's good stuff. I mean, that sums it up for me. Piss up, front up, Keezy. He needs to deal with it and be a backbone. That's from Tom. Backbone. Get rid of the bastard. That's from Tane. This sounds like Mike and Jay's trying to boot Keezy off the show so there's less competition for the throbber. Bit of a conspiracy theory there.
9:39Mike Minogue:Yeah, sure. John says, send him home now or I'm switching to the breeze.
9:47Mike Minogue:Someone's suggesting that I stay and you guys go home. Oh, yes. That works too. I like that a lot. I like that too. That's good. That's good. Just be solo Keezy sort of riffing.
9:57Keyzie:Okay. It's just like the night show all over again. Yeah, that was a ratings winner. How dare you, man. That night show was bloody great. In fact, I think that was the last time the night show was ever done, wasn't it? Keezy, you got sent home from the night show, and then they just sort of wrapped it up, picked it up. You know, they sent home from the night show.
10:17Mike Minogue:I started on the big show.
10:19Keyzie:Literally mid-show. Really? Yeah, remember they came in and you were mid-show and they said, we're shutting it down. Pack it up, man. Pack it up, let's go. Well, what do we do about this, fellas? Maybe... Well, I think the problem we've got with the big poll, and please continue voting, head over to the Haruki Big Show Instagram page and get involved. Also send Keezy a message on Instagram and just tell him what a shocking bastard he is. No, it's all G. But I think we need to talk to the person who's got the power, and that is our boss, Aussie Todd, the mad bastard. Yeah, so you actually want me to call him?
Read the full transcript
10:49Well, I think, I mean, yes. Yes, please. Okay. And see if we can get, well, at least get his opinion. Yeah, totally. Because I don't think he's aware. Hello. Yeah, g'day. Is that Toddy?
11:01Mike Minogue:Yeah, hoity.
11:02Keyzie:Yeah, g'day, Toddy. Yeah, it's hoity here and the fieles from the big show. Listen, mate, sorry for disturbing you. We know that you're off home, but look.
11:10Mike Minogue:No, I'm at work, actually. I've just left the office.
11:13Keyzie:Oh, right. Okay, you're still working. Yeah, sounds like work. Um, Toddy, listen, Keezy's a shambles. Um, and we're just wondering, uh, Mogi and I, whether we're better off just sort of cutting our losses here and moving on. What do you mean?
11:28Mike Minogue:Like send him home? Yeah, well, maybe send him home.
11:31Keyzie:I mean, seriously, Toddy, he's a shocking bastard at the moment. He's done a couple of chunders in the corner of the studio.
11:39Mike Minogue:Fellas, can I be honest?
11:40Keyzie:Yeah.
11:42Mike Minogue:I went out two last night. I didn't go back to Lane's hotel and play Little Spoon like he probably did, but you make your decisions. So is he that bad? Like, cheesy? Hey. Because I haven't been listening for the last 20 minutes or whatever. Hey, Todd. No, I personally think I'm feeling good. I'm sounding good. I've got good content. Someone says they've got good content. You know they've got nothing.
12:07Keyzie:Yeah.
12:08Mike Minogue:Nothing in the tech. Mate, you know what? Here's the thing. Look, I'm an empathetic person, but I've got to say this. I just sussed out that Puzz is not there and I got spun some yarn about some frigging wedding. That's all BS. I know that. He's not turned up. What is it with you, Channel Gen Z? You're just piss weak. Channel Gen Z? Well, you're Gen Z like Mogey, Hoyt, Todd, Gen X, hard. Go hard, play hard, turn up. Yeah, right. So, I mean, look, Todd, for the record, I don't want to go home. You know I love... Mate, you sound disgraceful. You sound shocking. I sound shocking. The frustrating thing is, mate, you put him for a day's leave off in June 30 to go and see someone who died 100 years ago, singleberry dumper dicks or whatever.
12:52Mike Minogue:And so, mate, like it's just a constant I want to do less. Yeah. So anyway, but here's the thing. I can hear it in your voice. The people are texting you, mate. You just, you know, I know it sounds bad, but like you've just got to get through it, mate. You've got to talk enough. Yeah. That's what we're telling them, Toddy. You just got to play a song, get a power rating, I don't care, do a line of coke, whatever. Just get through it, mate. You've got no idea how hard me and Mogi and Hoyt have got through some of the worst shifts in our life. Right. Totally, man. This is a life lesson for you, young fella.
13:29Mike Minogue:It's a life lesson for you. Hey, Tony, just out of interest, where are you? I'm at a – we did a post-strategy meeting after the – I'm around the corner of the chicken shop. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
13:44Keyzie:All right, Johnny. I'm still going hard. So, PZ, I'm going to check the video cameras.
13:50Mike Minogue:And if you're not walking out that door, Joe Riddell will check for me. If you're not walking out that door at five past seven, trouble for you, pal. Yep, you got it, Todd. You know me. I'm a company man, mate. You enjoy your meeting there at the pub, all right? Yeah, yeah. On your brother. All right. Thanks, Tony.
14:06Keyzie:All right. Well, there you go, fellas. I mean, it's pretty, it is what it is, isn't it? 100%. We're just going to have to, you know.
14:12Mike Minogue:Yeah. And I guess it'll just be the audience that pays the price, right? Yeah, that's right. Yeah. As usual. Yeah, pretty much. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
14:25Keyzie:Chemical Brothers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.38. We're going to do a bit of sports chat. Before we do, fellas, just chatting to old Mike Lane there from the head of the ACC in the studio there. He's got a commentary to do tonight. He's not stoked about it.
14:41Mike Minogue:Nah, he was lying on the couch in the betcha lounge I saw.
14:44Keyzie:Yes, he was with like pillows over his head. But let's have sport chat.
15:00Keyzie:Yeah. Yeah, well, we've got to start with the cricket. I think, fellas, started overnight at Lords New Zealand versus England. One word, carnage. Absolute carnage, Woody Jay. You know, things were looking pretty good. I actually forgot about it until I woke up, and it was still on when I woke up. Yes. So I managed to bang it on there. But, you know, things were looking pretty good when we managed to roll England for 140 runs in just 39 overs. Yeah. and then of course New Zealand had to bat and this is the trouble isn't it it's all well and good getting all hyped up and enjoying yourself when somebody else is playing like garbage but you have to remind yourself that you've got to bat on that pitch as well and sure enough by the end of the day New Zealand had limped their way to 61 for 6 so 16 wickets falling across a day that was interrupted at least twice by rain and ended by rain I think it's an absolute disgrace that at Lord's you can have a pitch that was doing that.
16:05I really do. It's like this is, you know, it's meant to be a test over five days. It's exciting, isn't it? That's great. But nobody wants to see 16 wickets fall on the first day of a test at Lord's.
16:17Keyzie:No, they don't. And I totally agree with you. They weren't helped by the conditions, obviously. But that very first ball of the test match, ankle high. And it's like, come on, man. And they were talking. It was a shitter of a pitch. and they were talking about the fact that they've been talking of replacing it for so long. Right. But they just don't have time to do it because there's so much cricket played at Lourdes that they can't get the time to actually dig it all up and redo the whole thing. Well, what a load of absolute bullshit. Yeah, it's just crap. All you would do is do what they do at every other ground and just prepare a pitch beside it.
16:51Surely they do that.
16:52Keyzie:Yes, but I think they want to, because they replace the outfield, but they reckon it's going to... Oh, the entire field. Yeah, the entire field. but they reckon it's going to take a very long time to dig everything up again. And because the schedule's so crazy, they've just gone, let's just have a terrible pitch. Let's just start with a pitch then. Don't do the whole field, just do the pitch. Yes. But I'm sure that they can prepare a lot better than that. Anyway, exciting times will be over in two and a half days, I'd imagine, at most. That will really get deep inside my goat if that happens. It happened last time too, remember?
17:20Keyzie:All the Test matches were like three days long. It's like, come on, man! What's that about, fellas? It's bullshit is what it is, Keyes. It's still great to have Tess Cricket back. Yeah, I love it. Even though there was almost as many wickets as there was in a T20. Well, now what I can do, of course, is go on my TV when I get up in the morning, Mogey, and just go full replay.
17:38Mike Minogue:That's right.
17:39Keyzie:I just have it on all day long.
17:41Mike Minogue:Beautiful. What about the Super Rugby fellas business end of the season? We've got three games. Very confusing the way the finals works in Super Rugby because one of the teams that loses gets a second chance. Unlucky loser. The lucky loser. It's sort of a half-ass. Well, that's where you end up on the table, obviously. But it's a half-assed version of the rugby league, the NRL one. It's weird. I just can't get my head around it. I guess it's a broadcast thing, right? It's better to have three games of footy this weekend. I don't know what it is. Who's tonight, Kesey? Hurricanes Brumbies, 7.05 tonight.
18:12Mike Minogue:That game is live on Radio Horeaki and iHeartRadio as well with the Alternative Commentary Collective. All of those members of that team were completely steamed last night. Right. So it'll be a shocking broadcast. So the Canes will be back to their full-strength side. Yes. If they win, they will get next week off. Yes. And if they lose, they will play next week as the lucky loser against somebody or other.
18:33Keyzie:Yeah, of course, the Canes coming out on top of the competition for the semifinals. So if the Brumbies lose, they're gone, Berger. 100%.
18:41Mike Minogue:And then tomorrow, Arvo, you've got Crusaders Blues, 4.35pm. And then Chiefs Reds at 7.05pm. Yes. And that's at home in Hamilton. An afternoon game, I like that. I like that too.
18:52Keyzie:And a home game for the Crusaders too, obviously.
18:54Mike Minogue:And, of course, the Wads are on the bye this week. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well-earned. Good stuff. Lots of there. Good sport, chap, fellas. Really nailed it. Really good. Not far, Keezy. Just hang in there, buddy. Nearly there, brother. Not far. I only just started. It's all G, man. I'm happy to be here. Here's the strikes. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
19:16Keyzie:Guns. Roses there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. This Friday afternoon. The time is 4.53. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
19:33Yes, that's right. Fellas, last night, as I say, I was on the couch 10 minutes after the end of the ceremony last evening, so it gave me an opportunity to watch the first episode of the second season of The Chestnut Man. The Chestnut Man. I've never heard of him. Have you heard of him? The chestnut man. The chestnut man. Because he sells chestnuts. It's not good. It's not good, I'll tell you that much. What are these? Scandi Newers. Scandi Newers. Yes, I know it. So a police drama. This second season finds our hero cops who, by the end of the first season, were actually in a sexual relationship together.
20:14Mike Minogue:Oh, wow. They were loving it. Oh, you'd hope so. By the start of this season, spoiler alert, they're broken up. but, spoiler alert, a new crime has brought them back together. Spoiler alert, sparks are going to fly again. It's bloody good, actually. And I would say at this stage I'm just going to give it the three buzies because we don't know where it's going to go, but a woman's been murdered, and it seems like the person that's doing the murdering is not a good bastard. Does he leave chestnuts as his calling card? In the first season it was heavily chestnut-focused. Really? and they're all sort of based on childhood nursery rhymes.
20:54So the first season was a childhood nursery rhyme and this one appears to be the same, but it's in Denmark, so it's not really familiar to us. But yeah, very, very good. It's on Netflix. 100 % on Rotten Tomatoes, I see. I think that's a little bit high, but recommended at this point, fellas. Three out of a possible five buzzies.
21:11Keyzie:I watched and enjoyed the first season. Yes, I did too. Now, I went to the Radio Awards as well last night, One and a half buzies out of five. Then I got home and I finished off DTF St. Louis. Oh, did you finish it off? Yeah, I finished it off. And what I've got to say about it, I mean, there's so many twists and turns. You think, oh, okay. Oh, okay. Well, hang on. Yes. Oh, that's it. Oh. But what I actually quite liked about it was the men's relationship. The two fellas, the main characters in it. I kind of like their relationship and the genuineness of it and the love and affection that they had for each other.
21:55Keyzie:And it's a good series. I liked it. How many buzzies, man? Look, I'll give it a solid 3.2 buzzies out of 5.
22:01Mike Minogue:It's always 3.2 buzzies out of 5. Have you noticed that? No. That for me is it's fine. Yeah.
22:07Keyzie:Yeah. It's fine.
22:08Mike Minogue:It's a little bit better than fine. I watched today on the couch a documentary about China. Never heard of it. You've never heard of the couch? I thought you said, I watched today on the couch. Come on, Jay. It's not today, man. I watched a documentary about China. Really interesting. I didn't know about the rise of China and how the Communist Party. Everyone's talking about it. The Long March and Chairman Mao. It was literally just... Yeah. Yeah, it's really interesting. And when I'm hungover, I like to just watch a documentary for some reason and do nothing. Yeah. So I did that. It was great.
22:40Mike Minogue:It's not all you do, though, eh, Kees?
22:41Keyzie:We'll get into that after five. Sure.
22:43Mike Minogue:No, I always stuff my face with something. And, yeah, we are going to play a little game after five. Very excited. Very excited.
22:50Keyzie:Also after five, of course, being a Friday, the Friday Throbber theme.
22:54Mike Minogue:Yeah, and today's theme for the Friday Throbber. Oh, God. I'm sorry, everyone. Because we lost at the Radio Awards is losers. Yeah. Yeah. Losers. And also, Chris Parker's coming in. Oh, yeah. Oh, yes, of course. Chris Parker. Oh, God. Great. Oh, thank God for that. The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
23:20Keyzie:It's the Hodaki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Dook, dook. This guy. This guy, eh?
23:31Mike Minogue:Hey, Jase, what's the Throbber?
23:33Keyzie:The Throbber, fellas, is where each of us chooses a tune to kick off your Friday night as we head into the weekend. Get you in the mood.
23:40Mike Minogue:Yeah.
23:41Keyzie:Get you in the mood. The theme today is loser. Losing.
23:44Mike Minogue:That's because we were up for an award last night, Best Comedy Podcast. Yes! And did we win it there, fellas? No. No, we didn't. In fact, Radio Haraki was nominated for quite a few.
24:03Involved in that. Yes. We lost.
24:05Mike Minogue:But whenever it was like the rest of the station. Yeah. It was a victory. They seemed to win.
24:09Keyzie:Yeah.
24:09Mike Minogue:I noticed that too, actually.
24:11Keyzie:I don't know. It feels like that.
24:12Mike Minogue:I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
24:13Keyzie:Oh, yeah. I like losing anyway.
24:16Mike Minogue:Yeah, same. Yeah.
24:17Keyzie:Good. It's so much cooler.
24:19Mike Minogue:Yeah.
24:19Keyzie:You know what I mean?
24:20Mike Minogue:Yeah. Like, that's why Jase does it in the throbber.
24:23Keyzie:Yeah.
24:23Mike Minogue:Every week. Absolutely. It's so cool, man. Yeah, totally. Today's theme, as we said, losing. And Jase, have you stuck to the actual theme this week? I have. Okay. Yes, I have. So have a little listen. Do you want to go with Jason's first?
24:36Keyzie:Okay, sure. This is called Rowing by Soundgarden. Can't see the sky, nothing's on the horizon.
24:44Mike Minogue:Can't feel my hands, the water keeps rising. Can't fall asleep, cause I'll wake up dead. I just keep rolling, I just keep rolling. Don't know where I'm going, I just keep rolling, I just keep rolling.
25:02Keyzie:It's about losing all we have, fellas, and keeping on rowing. You just got to keep on rowing, man. Yeah, man. That's what I always say.
25:08Mike Minogue:That song sounded weird. It's a good song. It's a really good tune, that one. I can go next if you want. I've gone with the greatest song of all time. Okay, you go next.
25:16Keyzie:I get knocked down. But I get up again. But the hell is going to keep me down. I get knocked down. But I get up again. But the hell is going to keep me down. I get knocked down. But I get up again. Get up again. Fellas, we get knocked down, don't we? We too, man. Or we keep on getting back up again. Exactly. I just thought Tub Thumping would be the absolute business on a Friday. Very similar themes in both our songs, Mogi, about getting knocked down and getting up again. Yeah, mine sort of nails it a bit more clearly than yours. I literally says it. Mogi's one says that stuff. I personally always hated that song.
25:53Keyzie:Oh, well, if Jase has a win now, it needs to have an asterisk on it. Because he's bagging my song. That's unfair. We give opinions about each other's songs all the time. I don't know how I feel about this.
26:06Mike Minogue:Fellas, this is the song that I've chosen. I get knocked down. I get knocked down. I get knocked down. Okay. Oh, dude. Chumbawamba, Tub Thumping. Oh, my God. Here's the thing, people. Wouldn't it be amazing if I won, even though me and Keezy have both got the same song? Or if I won. That'd be amazing. I mean, there's another example of your song.
26:29Keyzie:Extraordinary. But you decide, New Zealand. Give us a call right now on 0800 HODAKI. In the meantime, here's Jeff.
26:36Mike Minogue:The HODAKI Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio HODAKI.
26:46Keyzie:It's the HODAKI Big Show's Friday throbber. Doos, doos. Man. Too much, Jase. Shit.
26:58Mike Minogue:Should we get rid of that?
27:00Keyzie:jeez, the weather out there at the moment, she's a shocking bastard. But anyway, it's a Friday, Throbber. We don't care about that. The theme today is loser or losing.
27:10Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's because we lost at the Radio and Podcast Awards. And the beauty of the Throbber is we're going to have two more losers. Yeah, well, exactly. Very, very soon. What did you go with there, JizzBot?
27:20Keyzie:I went with a song called Rowing by Soundgarden.
27:23Mike Minogue:Can't see the sky, nothing's on the horizon. Can't feel my hands The water keeps rising Can't fall asleep Cause I'll wake up dead I just keep holding That song does not agree with my brain. Yeah. It's like off-tempo or something. You've got really good eclectic taste there. I mean, not really good. Every now and again you pull one out and I think, how's old Hoody J stumbled across that bastard? Yeah. I've gone with the shorter version of Tub Thumper.
28:05Mike Minogue:Yeah, tune there, Chumblewumpa. Keezy's gone with the really long version. Mogi, come on, man.
28:15I need to reassure everyone, actually, both versions are the same length. Now, I should say that we were having a chat before the show about how when we apply a theme, we always end up with shit songs. Yes. Case in point tonight. Yeah.
28:32Keyzie:Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Connor, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, fellas. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. What are you running with there, Connor? I'm going to say Keezy copied Mogey, so I'm going to vote for Mogey tonight. Good on you, man. Your Keezy did copy me. You go to hell, Connor. Have a good weekend, mate. Thanks for playing. G'day, Angus, you mad bastard. How's life? Good thanks, Jase. Yourself? Yeah, good thanks, mate. What are you running with there, Angus?
29:02Mike Minogue:I'm going to have to go with old Cheesy's tub something.
29:06Keyzie:Good on you, Angus.
29:07Mike Minogue:You're a bloody legend. You don't get it, Angus, and you never have, man. You're a legend, man. Good on you. Have a good weekend, Angus. Far out. G'day, Hayden. Hang on. Hang on.
29:15Keyzie:Well, I don't care about Angus. G'day, Hayden, you mad bastard. How's life? It's just going good. Good on you, mate. What are you running with there, Hayden? You're a backbone, Hayden.
29:25Mike Minogue:I think Mogey copy Teasy, so I'm going for Keasy. Good on you, Hayden. You're a bloody legend of a bloke, mate. Can't wait to catch up soon, all right? Come for a beer, brother. Yeah, good on you, mate. All right, well, I'd like to dedicate this absolute chun. Yeah. Chumbawamba, tub thumping to my boys, Hayden and also Angus.
29:45Keyzie:Yeah, man. Yeah, good stuff, man. Legends. I'm going to go out into the officer because I hate this song so desperately.
29:52Mike Minogue:I hate this song as well. It's only three minutes, though. Oh, that's good. No winners here. Nah. Sorry. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Chumba Wumba. That's a tune. That just shows you how bad your choice was, James. I agree. Yeah.
30:10Keyzie:I agree. I actually really liked my tune, but I probably picked the wrong part of the song to win it over for me. What you like and what wins the Throbber are two completely different things.
30:21Mike Minogue:That's true. Someone's got a good point here. No wonder you guys lost at the podcast awards atrocious taste in music. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, true. But let's go to the Throbber scoreboard there, fellas. Of course, way out in front on eight wins. Old Mogey. Dominating. Old Mogey, well done. Second place, Keezy. Seven wins for the year. Seven with an asterisk. Why's that? Well, because you and I chose the same song, so really. Mogi, don't start handing out asterisks. That's what I do. I'm the asterisk guy. Actually, speaking of asterisks, in third place on five with an asterisk and a D for disqualification, hoity J.
30:58Mike Minogue:Thanks, fellas. How do we want to refer to the D for disqualification? Because obviously you were disqualified last week. Why don't we just say he's got, what's he actually got there? Give me that score again. Five asterisk hashtag D. I think we say five with an asterisk and he's copped a D. He's taken a D. I've taken a D. Yeah, I reckon taken a D. Yeah, yeah, okay, I'll change that. Yeah, good stuff. Yeah. Good stuff, fellas, really good stuff. I think maybe moving forward, do we just do no themes? Yes, I think so. It just ends up being a bit of a punish, doesn't it? It does. Yeah. It does. What, because we just played Chumbawamba?
31:36Because two people chose Chumbawamba.
31:41Mike Minogue:And the only other one was Jase's big shitter. Hey. Well, you go.
31:45Keyzie:I'll tell you what is a tune, though. This next one from Tool.
31:50Mike Minogue:To be fair, this is going to cleanse the palate. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, true. Bit of Tool. What other station goes Chumbawamba into Tool's shism? Or is it schism? Schism. Schism. I always say shism. Apologies. It's all good, man. You hang over, man. Yeah, it's all G, eh? It's all G. Thanks, man. I'm not worried about it. It's all fine, man. I'm not worried about it. Why would I be worried about it? or you just seem really tense about it?
32:10Keyzie:No, I'm not. You just seem really anxious. Just relax. Just let the song play up, would you?
32:15Mike Minogue:The Horaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Horaki.
32:22Keyzie:That's better. Bit of a palate cleanser after Chumba Wumba was our... Chumba Wumba.
32:29Mike Minogue:Our throbber this Friday. Hey, fellas, listen, there's a lot of stuff coming through on 3483 about how I sound terrible, how I'm not up to scratch because I'm hungover. What? And I've decided that I was kind of anticipating this, so I've actually come in today with a brand new game for us to play. Are you guys ready for it? I'm full, man. All right, here we go.
33:04Mike Minogue:All right, it's called, what did Keezy have for lunch to cure his hangover? And you guys basically, you guess, all right, there's three rounds. Okay, so first round, you just have to guess, all right? Okay. Who wants to go first? I'll go first. Dumplings. What was that? Dumplings. You said dumplings? Yeah. Incorrect. Jase? Spicy noodles. You're going to have to be more specific. Framita noodles. Wrong. Wrong. I did not have spicy noodles. Moggy? Pizza. Ham and pineapple. McCain's. No, it wasn't a pizza. It wasn't that either. Okay. Are we on to the next round? Ah, pork mince burrito. Why are you so specific?
33:52Mike Minogue:No. Okay, yeah, we'll go to the next round. The answer was curry luxer. A big curry luxer. From a Malaysian restaurant. It's kind of a big curry soup thing with noodles and... I know what a luxer is, Keezy.
34:14Mike Minogue:Okay, round two. Round two. What protein did I have in the Luxor? Chicken. Oh, what was that? Chicken. Mogey? Beef. Hey, Mogey. I'm winning.
34:33Keyzie:Mogey's winning. I'm not happy with the Luxor with beef. I'd go seafood myself. I was going to say seafood, but then I thought, no, Keezy doesn't have the stomach for his seafood. Yeah, he doesn't do seafood.
34:42Mike Minogue:It's not that I don't have the stomach.
34:43Keyzie:Can I ask if the Luxor have a halved egg in it?
34:47Mike Minogue:You bet your ass it did, Jase. You don't get a bonus point for that. That's fine. If that's what you're after. Okay, so the score is currently 1-0, Mogey. Third and final round. What heat did Keezy get? Extra hot. Oh, extra hot. Extra spicy. Yeah. Spicy. No. Hot, did you say? Hot. Yeah. Boosh, doosh, doosh, doosh. I'm smashing you, Jase. Well done, Moggy. You won.
35:16Keyzie:Congrats.
35:18Mike Minogue:That's after you ate Ree burger at 3 o 'clock this morning. I had Ree burger at 3 a.m. this morning. Backbone. So I was thinking we could play that game whenever I come in hungover. Yeah. Maybe it needs filling out a little bit.
35:32Keyzie:Do you reckon? Yeah. Because the problem is you're going to eat the same thing every time. Yeah. I tell you what doesn't need any more filling out. Old Keezy. Old Keezy.
35:43Mike Minogue:Up next, Chris Parker, by the way.
35:45Keyzie:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed, a bit of bush for your Friday afternoon. What a special treat we have. He's an actor. He's a comedian. He's a writer. And he's also, fellas, because I was, you know, doing a bit of research because we're professionals when we do this show. He's a TV personality.
36:10Keyzie:I'm talking of the one and only Chris Parker. Chris, you're mad bastard. How's life? I love that you went act first. Oh, I can hear the crowd. Yeah, God. Makes me want to hear it. Treat the poor ones already. That's just what popped into my head at the time. I like that. I mean, you've got so many bows to your quiver. You've got to be a multi-hyphenate in this modern day. Exactly, mate. How do you feel about being a TV personality? What even is there? I think it's a good life. Many lives you could live in New Zealand. You know, to be a middling TV personality is one of the greater ones. You know, sometimes, you know, you get a hello, you'll get a sponsored face cream.
36:47Yes. You know, yeah. Well, you say middling and in New Zealand, but I've seen some social clips of you in Australia. Oh, yeah. Are you middling over there or a bit lower? You're being carried around by a half a dozen really strongly built homosexual men. And it looked like you were absolutely living the life. I'll be honest with you, Chris. I'm surprised to see you back on our shores. Okay, so here's the thing. I never get gay guys coming to my shows And we could ask the audience As to why they could text in I don't want to read the text But they don't want to come see me I think maybe they don't want to have sex with me So they're not attracted to me They don't want to buy a ticket Or maybe they see me as a threat I'm the funny gay in my office So that don't turn up However, I'm doing a show in Melbourne I've got six big boys Yes, in the front row You know the type You know the type, Jase Yeah, totally I do, Chris they're built like gladiators and I thought boys I never get fellas like you in my show and they sort of woohoo they're very excited to see me and I said if I do a good job at the end of the show like if I crush and we'll figure that out if that happens or not you have to pick me up
37:55Mike Minogue:like I don't know why I said it but I just said it I think I was just that part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival I thought anything goes I have the show of my life right I think maybe because the boys are there and I said fellas That was an undeniable crush. Yes, I nailed it. Pick me up. And they rushed the stage and they picked me up above their head. And, yeah, it was the craziest experience I've ever had. It was almost like, am I in Cirque du Soleil right now? Yes. I felt like, yeah, this is what the greats must feel like, being uplifted by their community, literally. Did that ever happen to you, Jase?
38:31Keyzie:Oh, a few times.
38:34Mike Minogue:Really? But Chris. By someone that wasn't a bouncer?
38:39Keyzie:Are you disappointed that gay men don't come to your show? Is it? Because I'm getting the vibe that it's like, what's that about? Yeah. Do you know what? I always think I'm for everyone, as we all do. Well, of course. I'm a TV personality. That's right. You want to be for everyone. You want a TV personality. Was he on Treasure Island? Oh, my God. I know. Come on, man. I didn't bring it up. How did I miss that? It was in the email to bring it up. Oh, right. As I arrived in. Did you get uplifted by men in that scenario, winning it, Treasure Island? I think what that began was a long and healthy tradition of me being uplifted by women in their 30s and their mums.
39:19I'll tell you what was interesting because you, of course, were a part of that long tradition on Celebrity Treasure Island where men won it. Gay men too. Yeah, and gay men. They count as men. I just say men. I just say men. We don't differ in shows. I say gay men. We don't mind. We're talking Matty McLean. We're talking James Mustafake. Is he gay? That's right. We're talking me. That's right. There is a society and we all wear a gold chain necklace. You're saying off air that you were gassed when a woman won it this year. What's that all about? Hannah, a Maori woman, I think I said on record. Oh, my God.
39:56You and Jase would get on great. No, I was so thrilled. Come on, man. You couldn't have asked for a better winner. I agree. And now she runs the club. We just bow at her, grovel. We uplift her, obviously. I've got to tell you, Chris,
40:11Keyzie:it's Kesey's dream to be on Treasure Island. He has done everything in his power to get on that show. What does he need to do? I'm desperate, Chris. I'm desperate. He's desperate to get on it. You need to be more of a middling TV personality. I'm thinking get yourself on Fair Goat. Oh. Okay. What was the one where the tradies came in? Target. Target. You'd be great on that. great on Target. It's one of the trading... There needs to be a scene where you're getting off on yourself in someone's drawers. Except for on TV rather than just in my private life. Like a blurry sort of security cam. And look at me.
40:45That would get you on Celebrity Treasure Island. Really? 100%. Do it. It would get you on Ireland. It's like New Zealand's equivalent of the Kim Kardashian sex tape. Yeah, truly. Isn't it? Well, that launched Korea that spans a thousand years now. Yeah, yeah. Still going strong.
41:00Mike Minogue:Hey, guys, we've got Chris Parker here and we'll actually plug the reason you're in after a tune. How does that sound? I love a tune. Do you like tunes, man? I love a tune. Do you like the cure? C-H-U-N-E. Give me the tune. Honey, I'm sick. I need the cure. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Tune, man.
41:21Keyzie:Tune, tune. Hey, welcome back to the show. We've got middling TV personality Chris Parker on the show. It's an honour to be here. Chris, because I was actually wondering, because you stood us up the last time, you were meant to turn up last week. Oh, yeah. Remember that, fellas? Oh, yeah. Mogi was absolutely fuming. I was filthy. It was my only reason to get out of bed that day. And then you put a pin. Do you remember what your excuse was? Because I assume it was a lie. Do you remember? Yeah, I know what happened. And it was actually, I'm doing the rounds, as one does as a middling personality.
41:52You go through the car wash. They call it. I was talking to a regional newspaper who had a 10-minute interview and went for 35 to 40 minutes. Wow. Didn't give me enough time to get down here. Well, kind of did, but I was going to have to screw the pooch, so to speak. Yeah, yeah. Because it sort of got cancelled about six hours before. Six hours before. Yeah, yeah. That's odd. That's odd.
42:18Keyzie:I mean, we won't dwell on it.
42:19Mike Minogue:I don't know what kind of truth cup you're sipping from over here. We've got comedian Chris Parker. Actually, because you've got a lot of, as you said, bows to your quiver. So it is kind of like a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-nones sort of situation. The proverbs you guys throw around here are unbelievable. Have you heard of bows to your quiver? Is that something you're familiar with? It's arrows, isn't it? It's arrows to your quiver. No, it strings to your bow. And it strings to your bow. It strings to your bow. But there's no bows to your quiver. Well, I don't even know what a quiver is. A quiver is a thing that you put your arrows in.
42:51They're on your back. Do you not have one of those? So the arrows are in the quiver, the bows are on the...
42:56Keyzie:But Chris Parker, Chris was right in the phrase, Jack of all trades, master of none. That is actually a saying. It is a saying. And it's a legit one.
43:08Mike Minogue:Not that you are, yes. Lovely boy. Yeah, and when I think Chris Parker, that's what I think, that proverb. And Chris, you're obviously taking the comedian part of your CV, let's say. Yeah. Going on tour, just looking, because the name of the show is Take a Good Hard Look at Me. I'm looking at you going around New Zealand, which is bloody exciting. So, you know, Wellington, Christchurch. There's also Edinburgh and London in there. Oh, yeah. How exciting is that? Oh, it's pretty expensive. Yeah. Yeah, right. It's exciting, sorry. Has the Edinburgh Festival already happened or is it upcoming? No, that's always in August.
43:40It's their summer. Yes. Yeah, and so are you? They love the streets to smell like, you know, rotting trash before the arts festival begins. Yes, yes. Decaying faeces. Yeah. And so have you decaying faeces? It does have that smell. Yeah, yeah. It's like because the heat and the sewers, it just smells. And then every now and then when I smell that smell in Auckland, I think, God, maybe we are a big city.
44:01Keyzie:Chris, I've got to be honest with you in terms of Edinburgh because it's kind of seen in many ways as the mecca for comedians. You've got to go to Edinburgh, you know, because you can be signed up there and your whole life will change. but for a lot of comedians it's just a shithole. It's really expensive and like one person comes to their show. Yeah, so I've been going now, I only go for a week or a couple of days but I mainly go there so I can go to London because I don't know if you've noticed but everyone has left New Zealand and they're all living in London. So I like to go over there and just perform for 100 % Kiwi experiences.
44:40I'm not making any progress. I think, guys, we could have done this in Nelson. Safe travel. at all.
44:44Mike Minogue:We've got comedian Chris Parker with us. Take a good hard look at me, the name of your show. Yeah. What are we looking at? What are we unpacking here? Look, so the show itself is one day. It's set on one day, the 10th of February, 2026. And it's everything that happened on that day. And I've tried to write the funniest show I can based off the worst day, the most boring day I've ever had. So it starts at 6am, ends at 11pm. Doesn't sound like much of a sell, but I can promise you, it sent six gay men into hysteria forcing them to raid the stage and lift me up above their heads. Wow. Follow up question there.
45:18Did you have this tour booked in before you wrote any of this and is it because you had to go on this tour that you were forced into at the last minute, let's be honest writing an hour special? Is that what's happened here? What do you want? Like the real answer or a bit of fun radio banter? Well, because Tom Sainsbury said, a close friend of yours said he does the same thing. He'll be asked to do a tour or a festival. He'll come up with a poster, and then about three weeks prior to the gigs, he will write it. I gig more than Tom, right? Oh, no, he's lazy. He's a lazy guy. He's a shocking bastard.
45:57Keyzie:He does nothing, does he? He's a joke. He does nothing. What's he doing? Mucking around on his phone, texting teenagers. Yeah. So let's get that going. I don't know. Why not? Take him down a peg or two. So that's what we call profile building for me. You knock each other down. So I had been working a lot of material that was sort of like in a certain – at the pubs, you know, where the real community is working out. And then I thought, I think I've got a show here, but it is sort of quite mundane. Like it's sort of about my life, but in a kind of funny way. So then I sort of thought, like, maybe I should just set the whole show on the 10th of February because it was quite an interesting day because nothing really happened.
46:33I think I had a sandwich and went for a swim. Yeah, good. Yes, and yeah.
46:37Keyzie:Mundane, though, to be fair, Chris, can be very funny. Well, that's what I find. Very, very funny. Can be. Can be. Well, that's the test. You'll have to buy a ticket and find out. If I can walk the walk, and let me say, these arrows in my quiver are very sharp. If you do want to go and see Chris Parker's
46:56Mike Minogue:take a good hard look at me, head to chrisparkercomedy.com. Is that the best option? Yeah, or like a link in a bio, or just use your intuition. Like, get a bit lost on the web. Start on Yahoo and end up where you need to be to buy a ticket. 100%. Wellington, Christchurch, a couple of shows in Auckland as well. Chris Parker, thanks for coming in, mate. Thanks, boys. It's been a pleasure. I've really talked at a different timbre. Yeah, well, we're... It's really brought me down here and made me sort of talk like this for some reason. Do you guys like Queens of the Stone Age? Yeah. Oh, bloody, I'll rip it, mate.
47:28Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
47:34Keyzie:You're welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.
47:41Mike Minogue:Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take away Reburger today. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
47:47Keyzie:Speaking of which, fellas, what are you having for dinner tonight? Don't know. Keezy, you've already eaten like three days worth of food already, so you'll probably be skipping dinner, won't you?
47:56Mike Minogue:No, that was my lunch. I had a luxa. But tonight for dinner, I am having tacos. We're making tacos. Are you making them? Nah. Yeah. My wife's going to make them.
48:09Keyzie:With leftover mints?
48:10Mike Minogue:Nah, nah, nah. Fresh. Fresh mints. Fresh mints? Yeah. Fresh pork mints. Not even joking. Can't wait. It's going to be yummy. Yeah, man. But I did have Reburger at 3 a.m. last night. And didn't realize, but in Auckland, one of the Reburger stores, I think it's just one of them, stays open until 2.30 a.m. Yeah. Most nights. Or 2 a.m. that's huge because getting something that isn't a cheap crappy takeaway at that time is like game changing, it massively cured me well, sort of sort of, it delayed the inevitable yeah, exactly, good stuff
48:44Keyzie:what are you having tonight Jase? well, my wife is going to cook but she's like, I've got no ideas I can't be arsed
48:50Mike Minogue:right, so what are you going to cook? I don't know you're going to go get dumplings aren't you? yeah, probably yeah, nice, or re-burger or re-burger? yeah, let's not go there tonight. Let's take a night off that. Let's take a night off that yarn.
49:01Keyzie:I'll see how I go. On the way back from the gym, right? After the show? Yeah. Oh no, no gym tonight. Too wet. It's an outdoor gym. That doesn't make any sense. It's an outdoor gym.
49:14Mike Minogue:Do you guys like red hot chilli peppers? Oh, who doesn't? Honestly. Be honest, I'm a little bit over them. What? The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
49:25Keyzie:Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday. evening. As we've banged on about it was the Radio Awards last night. Poor old Keezy hit it hard but that's fine. I mean to be fair to Keezy Mogi you know there's quite a few people suffering around here. Oh absolutely. Everyone's buggered off home early I've noticed. To be quite clear we're the outliers here by not being hung over. Yes. Everyone else is in pieces.
49:48Mike Minogue:And I also want to say that the reason I had a biggie the only reason is that last year we were covering the breakfast show the day after the radio awards. Yeah. And so I think me and Pugs had two hours sleep each. Right. One of the great shows that we've ever done, I think, that morning after was excellent.
50:02Keyzie:Well, just to sort of prove my point too, I was outside before and I saw some dude get on a lime scooter, put his helmet on and then drive straight into a pole.
50:10Mike Minogue:Was he a radio person?
50:11Keyzie:He was a radio person. I won't name names. And I was like, okay, fella, you probably shouldn't be doing anything apart from walking perhaps or getting a taxi.
50:21Mike Minogue:With all this in mind, we did a big poll today The Big Poll
50:33Mike Minogue:And the big poll was Should Sorry, hang on Just zooming in on it Do we send Keezy home? Yes or no? It was your idea basically because you think I should go home Well, there's a bit more nuance to it than that The concern that Jase and I had was that your hungover state would drag down the high quality of the show, the high quality as shown by all the awards that Honaki won last night, except for any awards that had anything to do with the big show. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, the good news is I've got the results of the big poll here. Do you guys want to guess what they were?
51:12Keyzie:Should we send Kesey home? My vibe is that people want to hear you suffer. Right.
51:18Mike Minogue:So I'm going to go 60-40 no. Right, okay. I'll go the opposite. 60-40 yes, 60-40 no. The result of the big poll, fellas, is 68 % of New Zealand said yes. Ah. Oh, send him home. Yes. It's great to find that out now that we're, like, getting towards the end of the show.
51:36Keyzie:I mean, your models would just hang on now.
51:38Mike Minogue:Well, of course. You know what I mean? Well, I'm not going to leave right now.
51:41Keyzie:Well, I mean, you still could. I mean, I wouldn't say anything. You would. You'd knock me out straight away. No, totally, man. I never knock out my mates. Yeah, man. Are we mates? If you want to go, look, just, you know, do it. Okay.
51:56Mike Minogue:You still here? I'm still here. Yeah, yeah. I know. Well, the problem is that you guys don't know how to run this system. We'll pick it up pretty quick, man. Jason's a whiz with the technology. All right, fine. I'm going. Push a couple of buttons. I'm gone. Do, do, do.
52:10Keyzie:Oh, no, hang on. What's this one?
52:12Mike Minogue:Nah, I'm still here. I'm just joking. Oh, yeah. Yeah. The Horaki Big Show. weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
52:20Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Placebo there on the Radio Hauraki big show this Friday evening.
52:28Mike Minogue:Fellas, in three weeks' time, we will be up the Sky Tower for Hauraki's Day in Loo. It is our way of helping bowel cancer New Zealand make it. Yeah, man, absolutely. I know, man, you can get emotional with this sort of stuff, right? And when you're hungover, you're sort of all over the show. You've been up and down with your emotions. You know what you remind me of, man? What? You remind me of Jase yesterday. You're on and off with your hoodie like Jase was on and off with his jacket yesterday. You're a shambles, man. At least Jase has got an excuse. He's got early onset dementia. But look at the state of you.
53:01Young man, 34 years old. I have. An absolute butt.
53:05Keyzie:And just on that, fellas, I mean, you know, me aging. I was going home last night after the awards. Slipped a little bit. Did my hip in. Slipped a little bit. Yeah, just a little slip when I was going down the hill. I was wearing my slip-ons. Oh, yes. They didn't have any grip on them. There's a lot of tiled stuff in the city, and I slipped because it was a bit wet, did my hip in. So I think I'm going to have to get a walking frame.
53:29Mike Minogue:I think so. You know what I'm saying? So don't feel bad, Kesey. I just feel bad because I'm supposed to be delivering this, you know, like we won an award at the Podcast Radio Awards last night for Day in lieu. Yes, we did. Yeah, yeah, we did. And rightly so. But right now I'm thinking, shit, well, we're not going to win it next year because I've butchered this, trying to tell everyone about it. Oh, yeah, look. I mean, there's a million things that are going wrong today, but you've got to just get on with it. Can I have a crack, another crack? Well, sure, man. But not from the start. No, okay.
53:57Thursday, June 25th.
54:01Mike Minogue:That's soon. That's about three weeks away. Three weeks away, Moggy. We'll be up the Sky Tower doing the next Day in Loo, raising funds and awareness for bowel cancer New Zealand, which is the main thing, isn't it? I know Mogi's falling apart in the corner there.
54:15Keyzie:He's coughing and spluttered. I guess the concern is that last year we did the day in lieu in the bowels of Eden Park. And that won an award. Yeah. And so this time we're taking it to Sky Tower. Have we made a mistake?
54:29Mike Minogue:Well, we're going day in lieu with a view. Does that work?
54:35Keyzie:I feel like we might need to zhuzh it up a bit with a bit of it. Maybe, you know, if we're in a room of some description, and they might have a bath and you can broadcast from the tub there, Kesey, because that was amazing.
54:46Mike Minogue:That was great last year, wasn't it? Well, look, if you want to donate to the cause, text LOU to 3483. We'll send you a secure donation link. You can also head to dayandlou.co.nz for an online symptom checker. The most important thing with bowel cancer is the symptoms, if they're there and you get them early, massively treatable. True, man.
55:04Keyzie:Now, there was the idea that I run up the stairs. It's not an idea, it's locked in. On that note, I spoke to Bogsley, and I also spoke to Mr. Sky from Sky Tower, and he said, great idea. He's going to give$10 ,000 as well.
55:22Mike Minogue:And also, you don't have to run. You just have to walk from the bottom of the Sky Tower up to the top. There's only 1 ,000 stairs. It's only 50 stories. So what an amazing thing Jase is doing to get an additional$10 ,000 contributed to the charity.
55:33Keyzie:Who's donating that? Mr. Sky from Sky City. Oh, Mr. Sky. Bruce Sky. Why? Oh, because I spoke with the same guy, and he said, you know, a couple of the floors are shut down at the moment, so it can't really happen. No, they're not.
55:44Mike Minogue:No, they said they'll open them because it's for charity.
55:46Keyzie:Oh, but I mean, we don't want a situation where it's, you know, it could be perilous for old hoity, Jay. Oh, that doesn't bother me. No, I don't care at all. Well, I know it doesn't bother you guys. It bothers me. We're raising phones. Did you not hear the fact that I might need a walking frame? You can use it. I don't care. I did my hip in.
56:00Mike Minogue:What do we care? You made the offer. We said yes, so you're doing it. Bruce Sky has signed off on it. Mr. Sky. Bruce Sky. Text Lou to 3483 if you're keen to donate. Otherwise, we'll see you Thursday, June 25th from the Sky Tower. 12 hours straight of us all from Hodaki Live in one place. Can't wait. Arctic Monkeys. Yeah. The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hodaki.
56:27Keyzie:ACDC there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show. this gloomy, dark Friday night. Let's give out some advice, fellas. Meet PattyNip69 at gmail.com.
56:43Mike Minogue:Get in touch with the fellas.
56:46Keyzie:With the fellas!
56:50Mike Minogue:MeetPattyNip69 at gmail.com. It is a real email address. Do get in touch, 100 % anonymous, and if we read it on the show, you get a prize. This is an interesting one, fellas. It comes in from anonymous. Yeah. Hello there fellas. My misso has been a long time vegetarian, which has not been an issue for me at all in the past. We eat our separate things and shut up and get on with it. Recently she's got on a bit of a fitness kick and in the name of gains she's decided she wants to reintroduce meat back into her diet to get more protein. Now this is great news for me as it simplifies our shopping and bills and we can cook more often together.
57:23Mike Minogue:My only issue is that she will only purchase highly expensive regenerative organic meat in the name of the environment and our grocery bill is skyrocketing as a result. I'm pretty sure most of it is marketing bullshit anyway. Example below,$15 for four small sausages. There's a photo here of four small sausages. There's two, I can just see that over there. And there's a cat as well. Any advice? I just want to cook us both some guilt-free sizzlers and a bit of white death without her giving me a death stare. Cheers.
57:54Keyzie:That's a really good email, that one. You know, because I often find myself, I don't know if you guys do this, when you're buying eggs. Yes. And you go, oh, you know, you've got to get organic or, you know, free range sort of thing. And they're like$15 a dozen. And then you look at the ones that aren't free range and they're like seven or eight bucks. Yeah. You know, into a family, that's a lot of money. 100%. That is a lot of... And what I've found, interestingly, and I could be wrong, is that the ones that sometimes where I buy the cheaper ones are actually nicer eggs. Yeah, I don't find that ever.
58:32Keyzie:I have found that. Seriously, they're like beautiful, like glowing orange sort of yolks. It's delicious. Yeah, this sounds like a plug for... I've never seen that. White yolks and whiter whites. Is this a plug for cage eggs? Is that what we're doing? Totally, it is. Yeah. You're sponsored by Big Egg, Big Cage. Well, we've also had this discussion before too because my wife's very, very healthy these days. And she tries to chuck vegetables in everything now. And it's like, you know, I just want to get spicy takeaways with lots of meat in it. She's like, oh, I'll boil up some veggies and I'll do this.
59:10Keyzie:And it's like, oh, you have to.
59:11Mike Minogue:So just confirming, you're pro-cage eggs and you're saying don't eat vegetables. Don't eat veggies, yeah. Totally. What are we doing? This guy gets it. This guy gets it. Thank you. Yeah, I mean, yeah, well, it's tricky. I mean, you've got two options here. You can either do what she wants or you can break up with her. That's it. That's all you've got. So expensive sausages? Well, yeah, I mean, she's not going to eat sizzlers. And why would she? Because she's not a 20-year-old dude living with nine other dudes. Yeah. So, yeah, it's sort of you're going to have to like it or lump it. But the thing with a sausage, right, a sausage is traditionally not a fancy food.
59:49Keyzie:It's usually off cuts.
59:50Mike Minogue:Yeah, and I love sausages, but it's not like a steak or anything. But if you're paying$15 for four sausages. I mean, I don't know what the cost of a sausage normally is.
1:00:00Keyzie:I reckon you can get 12. I will say this. No, they are expensive bastards. You get like six sausages and you're looking at$14,$15 a lot of the time. And that's like, really? Well, this is four for$15. Whereas if you just get the big massive bag of sausages. But they're crap. You know what I mean? They have on the sort of, you know, the mad butcher used to have them with the Barbies outside, the Bunnings and stuff. They're the best ones, man. I think we can agree that cheap sausages exist. But the question here is not do cheap sausages exist. It's how do I get my missus to eat cheap sausages? The answer is you can't.
1:00:38Break up with her. She won't. So you either have to spend all your money eating rich meat.
1:00:43Mike Minogue:Yeah. Or break up with her. Okay, so just confirming, break up with her. eat caged eggs, don't eat vegetables, and yes, cheap sausages exist. Yes. Yeah, good stuff.
1:00:54Keyzie:Chuck some onions in there too with your cheap sausage. A bit of squirt in it.
1:00:58Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
1:01:11Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the Big Show done and dusted for your Friday afternoon. Now, normally at this stage of the show, We play the podcast outro clip, but old Dilly, he's even more hungover than Keezy, I think, and so he's forgotten to do that. And we're not going to berate him. He's had a hard, hard... He's been here all day, fellas.
1:01:31Mike Minogue:He is. I mean, we probably should have just not even pointed out that he forgot and just sort of said, hey, no clip tonight. He's got other things on his mind. Like what? I don't know. Well, he turned up... Memories. I mean, I just see him there, and his eyes are glazed over. Not unlike yours, Keezy. Yeah. But he's sort of got a glow about it. Yeah. You know what I mean?
1:01:50Keyzie:He also turned up in the suit he went home and went to the awards in last night. What do they call that there? Walk of Shame. That's it.
1:01:57Mike Minogue:Oh, wow, did he? Yeah. Oh, wow, that's cool. I reckon that's cool, man. I've never done that. I've never done a work Walk of Shame. Oh, yeah, I think it's weird to come to work. Very odd to come to work. Oh, yeah, very odd. Is that a shocker? I would have gone home. You would have? Rather than coming to work. Nah, nah, nah. Because I think he had the option of going home, but he wanted to come in in his suit to be like, hey. Oh, God, sorry. Oh, Nilly. You know what I mean? Rock and roll. Hey.
1:02:24Keyzie:Hey. Anyway. Mogi, what are your plans this weekend? Well, I won't be watching the Warriors because they're not playing. Not happy about that. Did you get that out of your mind? I'm going to go and have a look at a couple of street dogs, those bikes that we gave away, because I want to look at getting one of those. I've got a barbecue on that. Bit of family time, you know. Yeah, man. Tidy the house. Hopefully getting the cat door installed at some point. Nice. For the cat. Yeah, yeah. Good stuff. What about you, Keezy man?
1:02:51Mike Minogue:No, nothing. Chilling. Okay, cool. Big chilling. Cool, cool, cool. Good stuff, mate. Cool, cool, cool, cool.
1:02:56Keyzie:Continue my adventures around the city and watch a bit of cricket. Be watching a bit of cricket over the weekend. Sounds fun. I'll be doing that too. Good stuff. Hey, you take care out there. Check out the Instagram. Check out the podcast. Till Monday. See you later. Bye.
