In short
The Hauraki Big Show episode “Makin’ Big Moves” is a mix of Auckland banter, awkward neighbor/sex noises, travel mishaps from a trip to Mallorca/Europe, TV and movie reviews, and relationship/renting/handyman talk, plus promo for Beervana in Wellington.
Guests
No external guests. The hosts are Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Kesey (Keezy). “Pugsan/Spurmboy” is brought in as a studio guest segment about moving in with his partner.
Guest backgrounds
Pugsan is part of the “Spurmboy and the Jizz” team; he’s dating and moving in with his partner in about a month (about 6–7 months since January 23).
Key claims
Loud neighbor sex is “private moment” but the listener should decide; Mallorca taxi/Uber pricing and a lost passport were resolved within an hour for 200 euro; The Penguin was average (2.5/5), Stoker was below average (2/5), Napoleon was 3/5; Pugsan’s fast-moving relationship is framed as “lock it down” success; renting requires heat pump, range hood, and underfloor insulation/covering.
Notable examples
recording/playing neighbor lovemaking audio; losing passport in a taxi; “Palace of Filth” rental neon sign; Beervana live show at Parrot Dog Brewery (Wellington) and Brewery of the Day: Mount Brewing Co. (bat shit crazy ingredients).

0:16Keyzie:Kedai you mad bastards. Great to have your company this beautiful, gorgeous Wednesday afternoon. It's the 13th of August 2025 and you my friends as ever are listening to The Big Show. brought to you by Reburger. Crave-worthy street food freshly made with old Reburger.
0:34Jase:Reburger.
0:37Keyzie:Yippee. Yes. Great stuff. Happy to see you wearing the tighty-whitey today, Mogey. You're cleanly shaven, your hair's looking superb. You've still got a bit of a tan on, a bit of a European glow, you stud. How's life? You simply must go if you get the chance, Jase. I simply must.
0:54Jase:Oh, unbelievable. Words can't describe, Jase. I bet. How happy I am to be here. You mad dog, you sick son of a bee. You're right, it is a beautiful day here in Auckland, but you don't know if it's nice everywhere, man. Do you feel like a bit of a son of a bitch talking about the weather here when it might be raining somewhere else on the planet? Nah, I don't care, man. What a legend, man. Oh, by the way, I'm here too.
1:15Keyzie:Oh, g'day, Keith. Oh, g'day, fellas. See you there, brother. You. Speaking of t-shirts, wearing my favourite one, an old cat. Camouflage. Camouflage, sort of long-sleever. Looking good, man. looking good. Thanks, yeah, it's a caterpillar like a bulldozer shirt. Yeah. And I love how ironed it is as well and crisp. It's actually really old and shitty and... Oh, I didn't want to say anything. Oh, no. Well, I didn't want to take it all. I didn't actually want to have it out. It's one of those shirts that you have that you wear under stuff. It's like a mung rag.
1:50Yeah, it's like a mung rag and I didn't want to have it out but it's so hot in here that I took my jacket it off and I'm like, oh, I'm just going to have to wear the old mung rag around. Get on there, man. Just own it. Yeah, thanks, man. Just own it. Who cares, man? I'll wear a mung rag to work. Good stuff.
2:09Keyzie:Good stuff, mate. We've got a massive show ahead, as always, on The Big Show, so make sure you stay tuned. In the meantime, let's kick off with a bit of The Offspring. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey. Skid Row there on the radio. Hauraki, big show this beautiful Wednesday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past four o 'clock. Fellas, you may or may not recall back in the day, old Hoody Jay chatting about a particular neighbour that I had. Yeah. It's always been a favourite thing of mine to go up to my little front deck and smoke a durry, you know, and just chill out, get away from the braying of my family.
2:50Keyzie:Old her indoors, you call her. You know, just banging away at you, yelling and screaming about your failings as a man and as a father. The ball and chain. And just go outside and have a durry. And back in the day. Oh, dragon breath. Because I used to have, as you recall, and still do, a lot of townhouses right on my fence line. I don't recall that because you've never invited us around, sorry. Well, I've told you about it, Kesey. Oh, yeah, you've told us about it. So, you know, and I will invite you around one day. Sweet, can't wait. When you pull your socks up. Okay. Anyway, it used to be back in the day, and this was true, that one of those units directly across from my fence line was a couple that were very loud lovemakers.
3:32How many houses are there? Like townhouses? In the world?
3:37Keyzie:Probably about five. Right, okay. Yes. So there is a good chance that one of them is going to be allowed sort of. Yes, and they were unabashed about that. They had no concerns. I mean, obviously in the throes of passion, Yeah. And particularly in the summertime, you know, the windows would be open to let the cool air in while they're hammering away there. And both of them were very vocal. Him as well. Him as well, strangely. Well, you know, I don't know about you fellas. I'm quite vocal. What sort of things would he be saying? This is the, I can't, you know, due to sort of restrictions go into the absolute.
4:12No, you don't need to say, but what does he sound like? Like, is it sort of like a. Yeah, good on you, mate.
4:15Keyzie:It's just like a guttural man deep in the throes of lovemaking. And a woman who was also deep in the throes of lovemaking.
4:27Jase:Yeah.
4:27Keyzie:And I often used to sit out there on my deck puffing away, listening to that guy and great stuff. Were you like huffing and puffing? Huffing and puffing away, yeah. And can I just say, by the way, I never looked up or anything like that, you filthy bastard, matey.
4:39Jase:You were saying you had those house movers come over to bring the house just about eight metres along the fence line there.
4:44Keyzie:Did you extend your deck out? Anyway, long story short, they moved out.
4:50Jase:Oh, God.
4:51Keyzie:Much to my chagrin. But then today, after a very long absence, obviously a new couple has moved in to not the same house, actually. It's a couple of doors down. And they, too, this afternoon, while I was sitting out on the deck, not having a durry, having a vape, because my wife's banished me from vaping in the house, which I was filthy about. turns out they're very loud lovemakers as well. Now, here's my dilemma. To listen or not to listen? Because I know there'd be certain people out there that would think that's a little bit pervy. It is pervy. Just sit there, you know, and listen to people banging away at each other.
5:33Hang on, so when you say to listen or not to listen, you mean, oh, I can hear them making love. I'm going to run out there and just listen to it. What do you get from that?
5:41Keyzie:No, I was already out on the deck enjoying the sunshine, having a vape when I noticed the passionate lovemaking. So what did you do? I sat and listened. Yeah. And I wonder, I mean, what would you guys do in that scenario? Because as far as I'm concerned, I'm on my private property enjoying the sunshine. It's not for me to be quiet lovemaking. If they want to go and fill their boots, as it were, then, you know, I'm happy to listen. I think what you should do is, is it relatively regular? Do you reckon it'll happen tomorrow? I hope so. Well I was going to suggest that you should record it on your phone The audio and then we could play it and then play it to us
6:18Jase:Yeah but I want to know what you would do Well I'd go inside because it's disgusting How can you sit there and listen to that Jase That's people's private moment shared between two lovers And you're there hunched over Are you hunched over?
6:34Keyzie:No I'm sitting in my seat I may eventually be a little bit hunched over
6:41The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
6:47Keyzie:David Bowie there on the Radio Hauraki. Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time, 25 minutes past four. Just a reminder that next week on the Thursday, the Big Show's going to be down in Wellington celebrating the Beavana returning for another year. We're going to be doing a live show 4pm Thursday down at the Parrot Dog Brewery in Lyle Bay, Wellington. So come on down. It's going to be bloody great.
7:08Jase:Did I tell you guys I've just been to Europe? Oh, really? Yeah.
7:17Jase:And as I've said to you, Jase, it's an amazing place. Sounds it, man. It's hard to wrap your head around it. But it's not all beautiful food and sunny weather and beautiful water. And sometimes holidays go wrong. Yeah. But that's not Europe's fault. It's not Europe's fault. No, no, no, no. So I actually had quite a few adventures while I was over there. And I was thinking about you, Kesey, as well, because I thought, geez, if all Kesey knew about this, it'd be gone spare. 100%. So I got over there. I get over there. And I'm meeting my wife on the island, the Spanish island of Mallorca.
7:57Keyzie:Oh.
7:58Jase:Huh? Sounds lovely. So we get there. I meet her at the airport. We grab a taxi cab. The taxi cab. CC. So that here in New Zealand is called an Uber. What? Okay. Yeah, yeah. But funnily enough over there, Jase, the Uber is more expensive than the taxi cab. They protect the local taxi drivers. That's good to know. Which is a novel idea. And so we get in there and we've got about a 20-minute drive or so to the accommodation there. And I'm going around. I'm travelling with only carry-on. No checked luggage. I'm just travelling light, man. And I've got one of those sort of bum bag set-ups as well, which has got, you know, you can just have it sort of tied around your shoulders.
8:41Jase:You look like an absolute weapon. Yeah, totally. It's not sort of... It's like a bum bag, but you can have it slung over your shoulder. Yeah, my wife's got one of those. Pickpockets, et cetera. You've got to be careful over there, Jase. There's some scumbags over there.
8:52Keyzie:Oh, that's scary. See, that sort of stuff freaks me out. Yeah, it should. But there's a good way to fight back, and that's by getting a fanny pack and putting it on your shoulder. And strapping it on your chest.
9:01Jase:If they want to get at you, they've got to come through you. You know what I mean? Yeah, man. So anyway, in there I sort of had my passport, my power bank for my phone, my mobile phone. Wallet? Earbuds. No, I only had my cards on me. They were attached to my phone. Oh, yeah. I had a magnet sort of a set up. All sorts of different stuff in there. Paraphernalia, et cetera, et cetera. Yes. Anyway, we get to our accommodation, get the bags out of the car, go to check in. And sort of as I'm wandering in, because I'm thinking, oh, these bastards are going to want my passport. and then I was like, oh, where's my little fanny pack?
9:36Jase:That was strapped around your chest. Yeah, I must have taken it off when I got into it because it's sort of like an ammo belt. Yeah, yeah, how cool. If you imagine Rambo back in the day. It's like what Rambo wears. Yeah, like Rambo butt with stuff in it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like if Rambo was going. It's actually an ammo belt that I adapted. Oh, like a bandolier. A bandolier. Yeah. So anyway, the taxi is gone, man. That's gone. It's taken off down the driveway. I tell my wife, oh, damn it, I think I left my passport in the taxi, I think. And so she takes off like a shot trying to catch up to the taxi.
10:09I think, what an idiot.
10:11Jase:You're never going to get it, man. What was she going to do? Well, she was going to catch up to it and get my passport out of it, but there was no way. Taxi, I don't know if you know this, Jase, but over in Europe, cars are faster than people. Yeah, I was going to say, she must have had a real idiot. So anyway, I refuse to show any concern about it whatsoever. I'm just like, well, that's gone. We're just going to have to worry about that one tomorrow. Of course, I have to try and at some point make my way to London to see Oasis, and that's a consideration. That'll be less than a week away. I also have to get back to New Zealand.
10:44Jase:Yes. That's also something to think about. But at this point, it's about 8 o 'clock at night, so I just said to the missus, I don't care. We'll deal with it tomorrow. Then I realise, Keezy I realise that my earbuds For my You know, my earbud there I can track them They're in the bag as well So I jump on that Then I manage to track down the taxi company I can see that they're travelling around It's still in the cab We manage to call the guy Whose taxi it is Give him a ring He comes back out And drops it off to me Oh nice All as well Had it back on me in about an hour How good He only charged me 200 euro.
11:21Wow, that's, yeah, that's, yeah.
11:26Jase:It's about 400 bucks. Yeah, 400 bucks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, chicken feet. Thank you, senior. Chicken feet to old mogi. But what's good is that, you know, you had a bit of a shocker. It was sorted after an hour, and then that's done. That's sorted. Yeah, yeah, that's right. So in the coming breaks over the next sort of week or two, we'll talk about the nine other debacles I had. Nine? Yeah. Oh, my God.
11:47Keyzie:You see, that's the sort of stuff, fellas, that keeps me locked at Glen Eden, you know, spooky stuff like that. And listening to your neighbours go at it. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey. White Stripes there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
12:15Keyzie:Hello.
Read the full transcript
12:29Keyzie:That's what the dude sounded like this afternoon when he was making love, actually. He was loving it.
12:32Jase:Very similar. Yes. Hey, fellas, I just want to update you on something I've been watching. Okay. I finished off the television show The Penguin. Ah. The Penguin, I think you call them, kids, don't you? Yeah, penguins. starring Colin Farrell. Yes. It's an HBO series. I think I watched it on Neon. Would that be right? Something like that. Yeah. Initially, but then I stopped watching it and then I finished it on the plane. The plane's good. It's got lots of stuff on it. It's, I think, an eight-part series. He won a lot of awards for Best Actor because he's almost, you can't even see him behind all the makeup.
13:11Jase:Right. Especially when you think of him and Banshee's in a sharing or something. Completely different looking. So different. Yeah, exactly. He's not a penguin at all. He's just a man. He's a human. Right. A human man. Okay. And it's sort of like his origin coming up and getting to the top of the crime heap in Gotham City there. Yeah. It's sort of Sopranos-esque, or it wants to be. Didn't really hit the mark for me. I give it two and a half buzzies. Wow. Okay, so just average out of five. Absolutely average. Fine, but not so clear. People talked about it being amazing. It's just, it wasn't. Yeah, it's fine.
13:46Jase:Yeah, right. Anyway. Okay.
13:47Keyzie:Okay, guys. I stumbled upon a movie called Stoker.
13:52Jase:Oh, yeah.
13:53Keyzie:With Nicole Kidman. Yeah, man. Matthew Goode. Yeah. And what's her name? Mia Wozakowski.
14:01Jase:Wozakowski, an Australian actress. Oh, is she Australian? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:04Keyzie:I think she played Alice in Alice in Wonderland. Yeah, she did. And it advertised itself as a thriller. So my wife and I started watching that. The basic premise of the story is Nicole Kidman, her husband dies. They're very wealthy. That's right. She has her daughter Mia there, who's a very odd bird. She's a weird fish. She's an odd fish. Hang on, is she a bird or a fish? She's a strange rabbit. She's an odd fish. She's a bit of a weird cat. She keeps very much to herself. She's an out-of-it bastard. Shut it!
14:39Keyzie:Then Matthew Good's character turns up, who is the brother of the deceased husband. The uncle to that strange fish. The strange odd fish, Mia. Well, that's not her character's name. I can't remember her character's name. All good, man. But it's interesting because Puckson was just giving me the big thumbs up. Read that film. And let's just say that the uncle is up to no good. Even though his name's Matthew Goode. He is up to no good at all. He's an odd fish. And he's trying to win the favour of the daughter who is very sort of standoffish. And strange. And strange. There's a little fishy about her.
15:13Keyzie:She's an odd fish. She's a very odd fish, and she wants no bar of him. But then it begins to turn. Hang on a minute. And things start to happen. And it turns into this kind of auto-erotic. Auto-erotic? Auto-erotic. There's quite a few scenes. Interestingly, you pulled a face there, Kesey. My wife went, this is becoming very auto-erotic, isn't it? And then I said, is that a thing? and she went, yeah, I think it's a thing, isn't it? Auto-erotic and it's basically masturbation and it just turned into a weird kind of sexual thing. Certain things happen. She gets drawn to the uncle and I was so disgusted by the sexuality of it, we turned it off.
16:01Keyzie:Yeah. Nice, man. How many buzzies? Out of five. Oh, there are a lot of buzzies. What's the rating? Five. Two buzzies? Two busies out of five, so below average. Yes. I'm not going to watch it. If I want to watch something about a fish, I'll watch Nemo or something. Yeah. Good film, that. I watched On the Plane, Fellas. On the Plane. What's that about? No, no, sorry. On the Plane, Fellas is not the name of the movie. When I was on the plane on the way back from Paris. Gay Paris. I decided to watch Napoleon. No, Dynamite. Yeah, how good. Two hours, 50 minutes or something of Joaquin Phoenix just being the weirdest Napoleon I've ever seen.
16:38I kind of wanted him to have a French accent. No, did he not? No. Yeah.
16:44Keyzie:I saw a little clip of that film the other day, and it was a guy who was playing a very small part as a farmer, and he was talking to the two fellas in the desert there, and he was the weirdest. He was a farmer in the desert? He was the weirdest. He was the weirdest. And his accent and his voice, and the way he talked was just wacko. It was wacko, but apparently that's actually how he spoke. In terms of buzzies, what are we looking at? I actually found it, because I watched that and Banshees have been a share in. I found Banshees a bit boring-ish, slow. And I found Napoleon entertaining, but too much stuff happens.
17:19Even though it's three hours, there's too much to be told. It misses out all the stuff, and then it's just over. But the practical effects I enjoyed. So the battle scenes were good, because it's not just all CGI'd. I like Lord of the Rings, not The Hobbit. So it was fine. It was entertaining. I'll give it like three buzzies out of five. and Joaquin Phoenix wasn't good, I just wanted him to be French. Oui, oui. Exactly, Jase, just like that. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
17:51Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your hump day tickety-boo. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats, that will change the game. Reburger.
18:04Jase:Reburger. Sauce chicken. That's the best one, I think. Isn't it? The chicken? Yeah. Are you guys hungry? No. Mike, we need to have a word to Jase about eating before coming on air, because all he does is bitch about being hungry. But the trouble is he says he's hungry because he eats. I mean, the guy's 42 years old. He's off his head. He doesn't understand how it works.
18:26Keyzie:43, please.
18:26Jase:Sorry, man.
18:27Keyzie:I mean, I've got to own my age.
18:28Jase:You don't eat and then you're hungry. Yeah. Well, like yesterday, you said you had some beans for breakfast and then three pieces of sushi. And those sausages. And the sausages, Keezy Peas. And three small sausages in there. And then three pieces of sushi, and that was it for the entire day. Then you come in here and just bang on about stealing chips from the ACC. I was just more upset. I'm sick of it.
18:48Keyzie:I was just more upset with the fact that there were chips available to steal and you fellas just went, no, I'm not doing it.
18:55Jase:Well, because we're not hungry and we've made a commitment to Mike Lane and the ACC I have to. We're not going to be stealing any more chips. It's as simple as that, Jase. If you want the chips, you have to steal them yourself. Do your own dirty work, man.
19:08Keyzie:So if I go and steal a bag of chips, you're not going to do the two-fist mogey. No, I'll be eating them. Yeah, okay. I'll eat some as well. But the thing is, the situation is, if any chips now go missing, they know that it is you that is taking them. Yes. Once they're taken, they don't care what happens with them. They're gone. So me and mogey may as well, you know, get stuck in. Now, fellas. What? Listen, I've got a concern about one of the team. He's making some changes in his life. I don't want to talk to you about that because we're a team here on The Big Show. We look out for each other. And I just feel he's making some very big moves.
19:44Yeah, okay. I think that's...
19:45Keyzie:And we need to have a little word in his ear. Yeah. As a man of experience. Yeah. Sounds good. Should we do that next? Yeah, man. He's smashing pumpkins. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. Guns. Rose is here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon the time is 15 minutes past 5 o 'clock Shall we have a bit of a show meeting fellas? Yeah Show meeting! Show meeting! Show me the meeting! Show meeting is now in progress Another show meeting we have them every now and then just when it comes to things we need to address as a team and of course the Big Show is a team of four. A lot of people out there will be thinking, what?
20:30Four? I thought it was just Keezy and the other two. That's right. Nah, Pugson's there as well. Spurn boy. Jason, we're back now, man. You can drop the filth. And today's show meeting is in regards to the fourth member of the big show. Spurn boy. Okay, I guess that's the thing now.
20:50Keyzie:Just while you guys were over in Europe, he became Spurn boy. He's already got a name though and that's Pugsan. Okay, sperm boy. This is to do with him. Today I noticed on Instagram he listed, he put up a photo on a story of his current dwelling, his apartment he's living in and said, does anyone want my house? Does anyone want to move in? It comes, you know, you get this, you get that, you know, blah, blah, blah. Not as a flatmate situation.
21:19Jase:Nah, to take over the lease sort of thing. Yes. Then I asked him, I was, oh, are you moving in with your partner? And he said, yes. and my heart just dropped.
21:29Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Because it's just like I'm watching a guy just on the highway of life, on the hog of life, just white-knuckling it, giving it death. You know what I mean? He's just speeding along. And I just thought maybe we should have a word to him about it. What do you reckon? Well, the first thing that occurs to me, Kizia, I hear where you're coming from, is in regards to his flat, his rental. he doesn't actually put everything in there does he no I'll find the listing here for you absolutely Jase I was thinking the same thing I don't know if for example he's got those stains out of his carpet you know what I mean yeah I mean yeah good luck with that there's that stuff on the walls remember when we went there Mogi and there was that stuff all over the walls yeah in the bedroom in the bedroom there it just says it's furnished with a fridge and oven a microwave a queen bed base just the base yeah they had to burn that burn the mattress.
22:25Apparently it wouldn't burn. Yeah, well, it wouldn't.
22:27Keyzie:It was too sodden. Chest of drawers, a desk, and a heat pump. He's listed a heat pump like he's going to, oh, I was going to take it with me. But now you get it. Apparently, too, because he's moving all his stuff out. You can relate to this, Mookie, because you're doing a big move yourself. I am, yeah. You know what I mean? That's true. You know, he had to, of course, he's got his pallet of Connie's, which is, what a ball like that is.
22:54Jase:Well, the worst thing that he's got in the trouble, this is the trouble, isn't it, is, you know, I'm sure on the inside it's fine, but out the front he's got that big neon sign that's lit up and it says Palace of Filth. Yeah. No, I think he'll... And not everybody wants to. Oh, is he taking that with you, Coach? Well, no, because it's bolted into the... Oh, is he listening? He's saying he's going to take it. Right, okay. Are you taking it? Yeah. Oh, okay. Well, that's all right then. Well, I mean, there's him sort of conning someone into – conning – someone into sort of taking his rental. But the thing I'm worried about is the speed at which his relationship is moving.
23:30Oh, yes. Like he is really shifting through the gears on this thing. And I just – I feel like we should bring him in and just have a word to him about it and just, I don't know, scare him straight or something. We just need to – yeah, we just need to figure something out.
23:42Jase:Yeah.
23:43Keyzie:Is he not straight, our sperm boy? No, no, no. No, it's a...
23:46Jase:I mean, that's fine if he's not. It's a turn of phrase. Oh, right. It's a turn of phrase. Yeah, okay.
23:51Keyzie:You know, he's straight, all right. Yeah, sounds like a good idea, Keezy. Maybe we should do that next. Yeah, sure. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Jihad there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon at Time 526. Don't forget, by the way, we are in the voting stages of the nothing but 90s countdown, which is all thanks to our mates at Super Liquor who are celebrating 30 years of cheers.
24:17Jase:Mate, we couldn't do it without them. This is the thing about it, I don't think people understand. Cheers to Super Liquor. Mad bastards. They are mad bastards and they came about in the 90s so we're celebrating with a 90s countdown. 30 years, man. If you'd like to vote, only tunes from the 90s, like for example that song off the General Electric from She Hard, text the word VOTE to 3483 and then you're in the draw for an epic 90s prize pack which includes a replica 95. He's got a Fender guitar. A Fendi guitar, a 95 Warriors jersey, and a whole lot of other stuff, and$1 ,000 cash. How good? So good, fellas.
24:48Jase:And a calendar from 1992. Awesome. Yeah, yeah. Handy. It is. We've got old Pugsan in the studio with us. Hi, guys. Spurmboy. How's it going? From the hit team, Spurmboy and the Jizz. How are you going, Jizz? You all right? Yeah, good.
25:04Keyzie:Miss you, man. Yeah, I miss you too, you stallion. God, you're looking good. Love the hat, by the way. I appreciate that. No robe on it, so that's good. Hey, this is good, guys. This is good stuff. The reason we've got you in, Pugs, is you're moving in with your partner, aren't you, man? Is this all that chat that was happening in the last break? I was listening at that time. Yeah, you're moving in with your partner, man. Thanks, Moggy. So when's that happening? Looking like in about a month's time, man. Very, very excited. That's the one. That's fast, man. That's the one, man. Far out. Boy, it's about a month away.
25:35Keyzie:It's been a real whirlwind, hasn't it? How long has it been?
25:40Jase:Seven months? Yeah January 23rd You need to be able to whip this out brother Come on No it's We're on the radio Because you don't know the exact date Yeah I do know the exact date January 23rd wasn't it Yeah Weird that you know What Keezy What do you mean So what's that Six months Seven months Yeah about that Yeah good on Yeah so how long until you moved in We were dating before that guys Yeah sure man How long until you moved in with your partner Moji Pretty quick Right Yeah pretty quick Couple of months man Two months Yeah, if that. Yeah, we're straight in there. The actual. Oh, absolutely. The thing about Liz Parkson, and you get this, brother.
26:17Jase:You get it, man. Right. Is, you know, when you're absolutely punching above your weight, like you are, it's an absolute... Yeah, like you're a hoagie.
26:25Keyzie:She's a wacky dresser.
26:27Jase:Like you walk into a room and people are like, what the F is going on here? There is no way these two go out. And it was pretty similar for myself and my partner, so I knew I had to lock it down real quick. And especially when you know that eventually they're going to come around, you have to lie through your teeth, make them think you're the man that you're not, because once they find out, they're gone. So you've got to get them moved in, bun in the oven, married the whole lot as quickly as you possibly can, man. Lock it down. Yeah, because you're running a mogi right now, like you are punching.
26:59Jase:You are absolutely just like, you must wake up and just think, man.
27:05Keyzie:I still, funny you should say that, fellas. I still walk from the car park to work every day just shaking my head. Have you ever seen it? It's just like unbelievable.
27:14Jase:I don't know whether to be out there, like I'm getting a drink of water. I might be standing at the urinal. You might come in there and I'm just standing there just shaking my head. I'm not shocked at the size of my downstairs, mate. I'm thinking about you and your missus. I'm just like, how the hell has this happened? Yeah, because the first time my wife saw them together, she was like, oh, that's nice of that woman to be sort of, you know. Helping that disheveled bloke. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is she like a charity case?
27:40Keyzie:Well, I mean, in your defence, you're a jolly fellow. Jase. Yeah, that is true. And Mogi's dead on, actually. I mean, my current wife, who's my fourth, obviously, we started dating. She was pregnant within a month. Yeah. That's the one, man. The audience can't see this, but Jase said that and then turned to me with the most smug, I'm the man look on his face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he is. He's absolutely right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And look at them.
28:08Jase:28 years later, they're still going strong. I'm not really sure. I know. Sorry. The issue with this is I brought you in because I thought you were moving too fast. But you guys are saying he's moving in the right place. Honestly, this is an example where you can't move fast enough. Yeah. You're going to get locked down. Right. I'm telling you, one morning she's waking up. She rolls over. she looks at you and she thinks to herself, what in the F am I doing? I am outies.
28:38The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
28:44Keyzie:The Cars there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 5.38. It's funny, fellas, actually. Just talking about Pugsan there moving out of his flat, moving in with his beloved. Eh? How good. But as you know, I've been thinking about renting out my lovely old place. Yeah, your dilapidated shack. It is pretty dilapidated. And I've got to be honest with you, we're running into a few hurdles, which I never anticipated. Well, to be honest, I did anticipate it because it's a run-down old piece of shit. It's an old weatherboard, like maybe 40s or 50s. 60s, I think. Oh, yeah, not that I've been there.
29:26Keyzie:I'll invite you over when we move out. Sweet. And I'm finding out all this stuff about what needs to happen if you want people renting your house. What a palaver. I know, it's a joke, mate.
29:36Jase:What an absolute joke. PC going mad. What do they want? Well, first of all, a heat pump. Yeah, bullshit. Hoody J tick, though. Yeah, get on you, man. What a good bastard. I'd take it out if I was you, man. The thing that really got my goat.
29:49Keyzie:Did it bug you? It bugged me. It's me, I'm bugging me. Another thing apparently that you have to have in your house is a range hood. Oh, like an extractor above the oven. Like an extractor fan above the oven. I mean, who needs that?
30:05Jase:You need to put one over your toilet.
30:10Jase:Because it's really good. Yeah, yeah.
30:14Keyzie:Well, you see, that would actually make sense, Moggy. Totally, a range hood above your toilet would make really good sense. No, that's a bloody good idea, actually. I really like it. There's something in there. Well, we've got one on the en suite. Yeah, sure. But in the second toilet there, it's just you can just open the shutter windows there and do a massive steamer and then walk out. But anyway. But anyway.
30:42Keyzie:But a range hood. A range hood.
30:44Jase:Yeah.
30:45Keyzie:I mean, really, why do you need a range hood? I mean, why is it so necessary? We've never had one for 20 years. We've never missed one. and we've never needed one, and people go, oh, it gets rid of all the food smells. Well, it's not just food smell. It's like moisture, isn't it? No, it's not moisture. It is, because when you're cooking and boiling and stuff, and then the windows get all fogged up, it's moisture.
31:04Jase:It's moisture in your house, man. Yeah, well, they don't get fogged up in our house,
31:08Keyzie:because it's got a high ceiling. Oh, you've got a magic house, yeah. But, you know, people say, oh, it gets rid of all the food smells. I like food smell.
31:15Jase:Well, you're not living there, man. It's got nothing to do with you.
31:17Keyzie:And the problem with the extractor fan that we've discovered now is right above our oven, we whacked out a big hole to sort of separate so we could see through to the second sun lounge. Oh, yeah, that's right. So where the hell are we going to put the bloody extractor fan? Well, you've got those ones that sort of come out of the bench. Yeah, that's true. They sort of come, like, yeah, they can either fold out of the bench or there's one directly above the stove in the bench that suck the fumes down. Oh, that's just bollocks. Then, of course, we've got the underfloor insulation because you have to have that.
31:50Keyzie:You know, you go, fair enough, that makes sense. By the way, we got that put in, never noticed any difference whatsoever. Yeah. Still freezing in my house. Even with the heat pump, you know, pumping away. Really? So your house is still freezing? So I was speaking to a builder who's going to come around and fix a bit of stuff around the place that Haughty J doesn't have the capabilities of. It's quite emasculating, actually, having a man come around and fix your house while your wife stares and goes, what a champion. But apparently, not only do you need underfloor insulation, you've got to cover the ground.
32:22Keyzie:With what? I don't know. He said some sort of polystyrene or something like that. Is it just a plastic-type sheet? No, it's not even a plastic sheet. He said it's some sort of polystyrene that you need to put on the ground. I've got underfloor insulation. Why do I need to cover the bloody ground?
32:35Jase:Does that have to stop the moisture again? I think it's moisture again.
32:37Keyzie:Well, but there's the underfloor insulation that will stop the moisture.
32:40Jase:That'll get wet, though, won't it?
32:41Keyzie:No. It's off the ground. Moisture.
32:45Jase:I don't know, Jase, man. I don't know if I can explain moisture to you, man.
32:48Keyzie:I mean, this is just bollocks, man. It's just PC gone mad. Yeah, well, I'm with you there, brother. You know what I'm saying, fellas? Amen, fellas. Hey, by the way, if you need a handsome person to come round to your house, why don't you check out Hire a Hubby, and they'll do some jobs for you. That's a great idea.
33:05Jase:I'll come and put a rain chute over your shitter. Hey. Hang on, sorry, I'm halfway through a little sponsor. Oh, right, okay, you do. Make sure they get that thing about the rain chute over the shitter. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll do. if you want to get involved with Hire a Hubby and be one of their franchisees they are looking for now by the way so make sure you do get in touch we've also got the chance for you to win the big show coming to your house to do some work to offer our handyman services so if you would like that head to hodaki.co.nc and enter now Jase will come over and drop a deuce yeah and open the shutters and then gap it anyway Hire a Hubby that's just a call or click away
33:45The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
33:51Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Wednesday's going along very nicely. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Serving good times and good food. Dine in or takeaway at Reburger today. Reburger. Chips. Chips. Yeah, boy. You're back, baby. So good. That's sick. So good. Hey, I'm looking forward to the rugby championship. Yes. It's going to be some intriguing battles. The Argentinians, of course, quite a formidable force in their own right, and they've given us a bit of a dusting up over the last few years. But I'm especially looking forward to us playing the Springboks.
34:26Jase:They have given us a bit of a pump in you, right about that. Yeah, a bit of a pounding. They're looking pretty good this year too, having beaten the Lions, of course, Jase. And I'll be interested to see how the Wallabies go against the Springboks as well. Yes. I'm keen to see all of it, actually.
34:40Keyzie:Yes, it's going to be good stuff. Are you going to tune into that, Keezy, even though you're a league boy? I am a league boy, but to be honest, I love the idea of waking up on Sunday, having your brekkie.
34:51Jase:Turn on the TV and find out you're a day late because it's on Saturday. No, it's on Sunday, isn't it? Saturday. No, it says Sunday, the 17th of August.
35:00Keyzie:Can I pick what you're going to have for breakfast? You're going to make yourself a big old Keezy omelette special. Yes, traditionally, yes, that is what I'd have. Oh, do you? Yeah. Although since being in Paris, my wife and I want to try to find somewhere in Auckland that does really nice croissants.
35:16Jase:Well, I can help you out with that, Keezy, because the Sunday tradition I've been running for 11 years with my wife is on a Sunday morning. We have croissants with coffee and the paper, the morning paper there as well. So I can help you out with that, man.
35:29Keyzie:Yeah, sweet. All right. I might just have some baked beans and sausages. That's so cool, man. Just checking here, Moggy, you are right. It is Saturday. Yeah. Saturday. Okay, that's good. Nice.
35:40Jase:Looking forward to it. About 9, 9.15 in the a.m. That's perfect. Make sure you're tuning early because you don't want to miss a hucker.
35:46Keyzie:That is absolutely perfect for me, actually. Yeah, that's on Saturday. I've got my coffee and, you know, I'll be chilling out. So, like, if you've got activities, shift them all to Sunday. Yep. And just keep that Saturday. Keep that Saturday morning clear. Just the whole Saturday. No, just the morning.
36:01Jase:Just the morning. It's not an all day. So have you got anything on Saturday morning at the moment? If you do. My pyjamas. If you do, shift it to Sunday morning, all right? All right?
36:11Keyzie:Okay, sure. That's that sorted. My mother-in-law's coming Saturday night. Oh, yeah? Yeah, yeah. Oh, shit. Really? Yeah, I like this tune. The policeman. The policeman. So good, Gizzi. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. Stone Temple Pilots here on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Wednesday evening. I just wanted to ask you, Keezy, I've been meaning to ask, because old Mogi was just talking about the fact with his blowing his nose there and snot coming out of his eye. Any afflictions for old Keezy? The swimmer's air or the eczema? A sudden flare-up of the asthma? What happened to Keezy? At one point, I was wearing a snorkel and stuff and dove down about three metres, and I figured out I get swimmer's air when I equalise underwater.
37:03Keyzie:Oh, okay, so it all sucks in there. It must do because I swam heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and then it was the time I dove down or dived down, whatever one it is. Dove done. Doved down. Dove done. Dove done. So when I dove done and then I equalised, that was when I got swimmer's air.
37:22Jase:I've never equalised under the water. Haven't you? No. So when you dove done. Yeah, when I dove done, yeah, it just is what it is. Really? So you just deal with the pain and. I don't have any pain. Really? That's probably why I don't equalise.
37:34Keyzie:I imagine that when you're down three metres like that and you equalise like that with a snozz like yours, you'd be like a balloon straight up to the surface again. Damn, man. Good to be back in Honka Territory. Well, you wouldn't be able to relate, Jase, because there'd be so much air trapped in yours, you wouldn't be able to get down.
37:55Jase:Did you hear about, Jase, that time 18 Malaysian schoolboys got found in his nasal passage? Oh, my God, I heard that. That cave-in incident. Totally, man. They made a movie out of it.
38:14Jase:I apologise, fellas. I don't know where that came from. It's been a while since you made some massive honker jokes.
38:21Keyzie:What were you meant to be talking about in this break? Now, listen. Oh, you're being louder. Bear funner, we're doing a live gig down at Parrot Dog in Lyle Bay on Thursday next week, obviously. That's right. So Wellington, we've never done a proper just pub live show. We've done live shows.
38:37Jase:Can I just say it's an absolute disgrace? It is a disgrace. It is shocking. You know, Wellington, that's where, you know. That's my city I used to live in. That's the one. Great stuff. So it's the first time we've ever done just a proper open live show at a pub. It's going to be at Parrot Dog Brewery in Lyle Bay. And it is, of course, celebrating Bear Vana, which kicks on. And this is next Thursday we're talking about. I didn't even realise that because we have done live shows down there. But you're right, we've never done one at a pub. It's been at the Marvona. Yeah, this is a call-out, man. We have to make this the biggest live show we've ever done.
39:13Jase:Get down to Parrot Dog, fill this bastard up, make it bigger than Christchurch, any of the sort of animal gigs that we've had. We're going to have former warrior Charlie Gubb there. He's keen ass. It's going to be absolutely going off. So come along, get a babysitter for the kids, take the Friday off and we are going to rip the head off this bastard. Get involved. Except it's Thursday. So take Friday off because you're going to get so maggoted on Thursday. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course, this is all celebrating Bear Vana, which is happening the very next day and the Saturday as well, 22nd and 23rd of August.
39:48If you'd like to win flights to Wellington for you and a mate, a hotel and VIP access to Bear Vana, head to haraki.co.nz. Otherwise, we will see you parrot dog next Thursday, the 21st, down a welly there. Can't bloody wait.
40:01Keyzie:How good. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Foo Fighters there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Wednesday evening but right now it's time for... We're up to find the brewery of the day.
40:24That's right. Every single day in the lead up to Beervana which is a fantastic beer festival slash celebration happening down in Wellington.
40:32Keyzie:What a great idea, fellas, though. You know, just having a beer festival. I mean, there's festivals for all sorts of things, but this is just a beer festival. I mean, people love beersies. There's a stroke of genius to come up with a beer festival.
40:50Jase:Good on you, man. Selling them that concept.
40:53Keyzie:Yeah, really, you love it. I love it so much. I can't think of any other festivals that I would prefer to go to over a beer festival, to be fair. What about a music festival? I'd go to a music festival. Yeah. What about a book festival? I'd go to a book festival. What about an art festival? Oh, art fest. Yeah. That's fun. What, a food fest? Oh, a food festival. Yeah, I'd go to a food fest. You know what's crazy is Bear Varner has food as well. Yeah, that's true. And damn fine food. 22nd and 23rd of August down at Sky Stadium in Wellington. and their tickets available now, beervana.co.nz. It's Friday and Saturday, so go and get amongst.
41:29Today's brewery we are highlighting from around New Zealand that will be there at Beervana is Mount Brewing Co.
41:36Jase:Oh, yeah. I heard of those guys. Yeah. Didn't we do them last year?
41:40Keyzie:Yeah, they were part of them last year.
41:41Jase:They were a brewery of the day last year. Yeah, of course, mate.
41:43Keyzie:Are they a group of, you know, backbones who had a dream in their little garden shed and decided to start a brewery, Kesey?
41:51Jase:Well, they've diversified because I used to run a cherry orchard and, you know, cherries weren't going that good and so they started a brewery because they're backbones. Doesn't really say anything about that hair. No, but I just know my brewery's busy. Oh, yeah, right. So you obviously know that it's a second-generation brewery with a passion for making tasty, high-quality brews. I sort of tuned out after that bit. Oh, yeah. Well, they make brews that represent the Bay of Plenty and keep Mount Maunganui locals thirst satisfied. Yeah, man. Sounds good to me. Yeah, I'm not even finished yet. What are they called?
42:24Their core range is clean, consistent, and always brewed very fresh. Mount Brewing Co.
42:29Jase:Yeah. Are their beers good for any occasion? Good eating. Oh, good eating. Well, drinking, you'd mean. Wow. I mean, you don't eat a beer. Well, I do. Plus, their limited releases push the flavor boundaries with wild combos and crazy ingredients. Yeah, they've been pushing the boundary, those bastards. Have you seen the ingredients? Yeah. Bat shit. Catch Mount Brewing Co. Brewery at Bear Varner, aisle number 23. 23. I'll be sure to sidle up to the females while I'm down there.
42:59Keyzie:It's got bat shit in there, Bear, did you say? No, it's bat shit crazy. Not bat guano. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. ACDC there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show. Hey, Keezy, what's the situation with your little truckie that broke down in the old car park there? Where are you at with that? You got phlegm in your throat, man. No. Okay, all right. Yeah, so just for those that aren't aware, the day I was flying to Europe, I was flying to Europe that night, right?
43:27Jase:And for those that haven't been to Europe. Yeah, you simply must. You simply must. Yeah, yeah. Nah, Jase, we can say it. Oh. So the last day, literally I was flying to Europe that night and it was a beautiful day in Auckland. I was like, take my truckie for one last spin. Yeah, man. Before I put her away in the garage there for a few weeks. Before I put her away. and so drove it into work as i'm pulling into our car park at work which is as you were putting her away as i was putting her no no no this is me pulling in oh to the slot to the slot and i'll put her away afterwards as i was pulling in to our underground car park at work here i started smelling petrol and i was like wow that's bad hopefully that's not me because you're in an old car, if you smell anything, you go, shit, that might be me.
44:16Smelt quite strong. And I was like, well, I've got to park first. So I just went down. Nice. Around a few times, down the ramp, into my park, hopped out, looked under the truck, and it was fair pissing out with fuel. Yes. Fair pissing out. It was from just behind the engine, big pool on the ground there. I was like, shit.
44:32Keyzie:Yeah. Turned it off, grabbed my fire extinguisher out from under the seat just in case. Yeah. Didn't need it. It was fine. You don't know. You had squirted it? No, I didn't squirt it. but because this has happened to me before and my car actually caught on fire. Oh, yeah, shocking. So I called my dad and I was like, my truck's pissing fuel. That's cute, man. I did. Well, of course he would. I called dad and I was like, hey, dad. Daddy. I was like, hey, I've just pulled into work. My truck's absolutely pissing out with fuel and I'm going to fly to Europe tonight so I can't really deal with it right now.
45:06What would you do in this situation? He's like, oh, I'd probably, yeah, I'd just leave it and then when I get back, I'd give me some sort of really great advice. And then it basically meant that I was going to have to tow it out with a tow rope out of this underground car park. Yeah, that's how I'd do it. Get it onto the back of a tow truck. However, it involves several really tight U-turns, and you can't, Mike, and you won't know this, when you're towing with a rope, you go around a U-turn.
45:27Jase:Yeah, man, it makes you cut real tight on the corners, mate. It makes you cut real tight on the corners, man, and you actually can't do it. Yeah, you can't, but yeah, sure. Yeah, I can't. And so I was up all night thinking about it. How am I going to sort it out? and then I just realised the only way to solve it was to fix it where it is. Yeah, yeah. So your dad's coming up, is he? Funnily enough, he's actually up this weekend. But no, I figured out what it is and I've ordered a replacement part and I've taken off the old one. And my truck's just sitting down there for a few days. I would have just driven it home again.
