In short
The Hauraki Big Show episode centers on a “Big Poll” asking if it’s okay to have sex while sleeping in someone else’s bed, sparked by a house-sitting scenario. The hosts also run multiple giveaways and segments (Diamonds on Richmond $8,000 engagement ring draw, signed Big Show vinyl, Throbber Halloween theme, TV reviews, and other competitions).
Guests (people featured/called in)
- “Anonymous” (female winner) wins the $8,000 Diamonds on Richmond engagement ring; she’s been with her partner ~5-6 years, has a baby, and previously tried proposing with a ring pop.
- Ben (Christchurch) wins a signed Big Show vinyl.
- Lucas (Christchurch) wins a signed Big Show vinyl; he’s a builder’s apprentice.
- Carter (Christchurch) calls in on the poll: “friend of a friend go hell for leather; close relatives no-no.”
- Scott (Wellington) calls in: suggests it’s a “no-go zone” unless there’s a mattress protector.
- Lee, Aussie, and “Kurt” (gig giveaway winner) call in during Throbber/gig segments.

1:07Keyzie:They're works of art. They really are works of art. Speaking of works of art, g'day, Mogi, you stallion. How's life? Going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. I don't know what everyone else is doing around the rest of the country, but I tell you what, spring has sprung, brother. Oh, how good. No, we're not doing this again. Magnificent. I tell you what, I'm feeling like we've got a stonking summer on the way, that's for sure. We've turned a corner, Keezy. We definitely have, man.
1:32Mike Minogue:Oh, turn to corner, Keezy. But literally a week ago, you were all down by saying it's going to be the worst summer of all time. Wow, that's not true. It was yesterday. Was it yesterday?
1:41Keyzie:It might have been the day before, even. Yeah.
1:44Mike Minogue:All I need you to know, Jase, is that it's going to be nice for the weekend, apparently, but then after that, it will rain again. Yeah, probably, man. But I don't care.
1:50Keyzie:It's all G. It's a Friday afternoon. We're all feeling good, aren't we, fellas?
1:53Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. Certainly are.
1:54Keyzie:A huge show ahead. Speaking of which, Mogi, what is coming up on the show?
2:03Mike Minogue:What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi? Well, those of you regular listeners out there will know that Diamonds on Richmond has been running a competition with us where you could win an$8 ,000 engagement ring today. Ladies and gentlemen, we draw the winner of that competition. So if you have entered, keep your phones on. Bloody oaks. Because we're going to be calling you sons of bees at any possible moment. We've also got the throbber. We've also got a whole bunch of Halloween chat. And today we also bring back the big poll. It's coming up next. I'm going to keep it a secret. Hang on, Jase.
2:40Keyzie:Exciting. Make sure you come back because it's absolute filth come out of Jase's mouth.
2:44Mike Minogue:Here's Queen to the Stone Age. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
2:51Keyzie:Smashing pumpkins here on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 11 minutes past four o 'clock.
2:58Mike Minogue:The Big Show have recorded their very own vinyl. It is a one-off bespoke podcast. The origin stories of the Big Show. It is a limited run. There aren't very many of these things. It will be a collector's edition, I assume. Of course. But while the vinyls were actually being pressed, we went over to Holiday Records who made it happen. We signed a few of those vinyls. They were then wrapped. and we've got a couple of those limited edition signed vinyls to give away on the show today. If you would like to win one of those, text us on 3483. Tell us why you deserve to win one of those limited edition signed vinyl and we could be giving you a call in a little while and giving you a free vinyl.
3:35Mike Minogue:How good, man.
3:35Keyzie:How good. Bloody good. Hey, now listen, we haven't done one of these in a while, but let's get into it. The Big Polar.
3:51Keyzie:And the question today on the big poll is, is it okay to make love when sleeping in someone else's bed? Yes or no. Yes or no. Yeah, yeah. Very, very simple question.
4:02Mike Minogue:Now, what's brought this about for you, Jase? What's made you ask this?
4:05Keyzie:Oh, I'm asking for a friend. Yeah. A friend of mine asked, because he's house-sitting at the moment. Oh, okay. And he was like, hey, Jase, is it all G? What's his name? His name's Jase too, weirdly enough. His name is Jase, actually. Yeah, yeah. He said, hey, Jase, is it all G if me and my partner have sex when we're house-sitting in someone else's house? And I sort of pondered that question and I thought to myself, is it okay? Because, you know, it's a very intimate act. There's lots going on there, generally speaking. Does it get more intimate than that? I don't think it does. Thank you. And I wonder if it is maybe a bridge too far.
4:47Yeah. What's your vibe on it, Mogi? Okay, so just to be clear, you're staying at your in-laws' house, Jase, with your wife, and you want enough it's okay to make love in your wife's father's bed. Okay.
5:02Keyzie:Well, I mean, I don't think we need to be quite as specific as that. But just as an example. What is an example? Hypothetically speaking. Now, if you go and stay at somebody else's house, I would always expect to be staying in a spare room. I wouldn't expect to be staying in the owner of the house's bed. I wouldn't expect that. But if that is the case, and the other part of it is, of course, is that whenever I stay at somebody else's house, when I leave, I wash the sheets. So I take the sheets off the bed. I go and put them through the wash because I think that is the courteous thing to do. You might be out there going, oh, you don't have to do that.
5:38And if you are thinking that, you're a piece of shit.
5:40Mike Minogue:I was thinking that. You're a piece of shit. No, you make the bed because I don't know what settings they like to wash. No, you don't make the bed. at the very minimum, Keezy, you strip the bed because as soon as you leave, they're going to strip the bed. That's the very least you can do for them. Right, OK. OK, so you've learned something here today. OK. And in that case, in that instance, I think it's fine. Right, OK. The only problem you're going to have is if one of the teddy bears on the shelf is in fact a surveillance device and it's got a camera in it.
6:06Keyzie:Well, I mean, hypothetically speaking, I wouldn't imagine my father-in-law would have that sort of scenario running. Keezy, you were saying, hell yes. In fact, in that scenario, you would make love more than you usually do.
6:22Mike Minogue:I did say that, didn't I, Jase? Off air there. Off air, yeah. Yeah, that's right. To be honest, man, if people are using your bed, right, if they were staying at my place in my spare bed, you can go hell for leather. I don't care. Yeah. As long as you don't wash the sheets afterwards and make the bed, because I want to wash them how I like to wash them, then go for gold. Because you want to touch them after they've made love, right? So that makes sense. On the sheets yeah yeah yeah. What I like to do is take the sheets off their bed and put them on my bed for a week.
6:49Keyzie:Well it's interesting that you guys have both sort of given the spare bed scenario because if it's your father-in-law's
6:55Mike Minogue:bed absolutely not. That's what I'm saying. So Keezy if someone comes and stays at your house and they stay in your bed. On my bed? Yeah that's what. See nah I'd feel weird about that.
7:04Keyzie:No but remember actually that happened didn't it? Yes. Didn't some friends of yours stay? I'm not saying they made love. No they probably did. Of course they did. Knowing them. Putting it on the other side of the equation, how would you feel about that, knowing that your friends made love in your bed?
7:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, I mean, look, other people have made love in my bed as well, including me. So, yeah, at the same time, I don't really care. It's like fill your boots.
7:29Keyzie:I kind of subscribe to the what you don't know won't hurt you. Yes. Sort of a scenario. And that's why I'm interested in the fact that you guys bring up the spare room scenario. I would prefer that. A spare room, you don't have to wash the sheets, because who knows when the next person's going to be there. You just fold her all up and she's Bob's your uncle. Just make it again. Just make it again, Bob's your uncle.
7:46Mike Minogue:Well, 3483, what do you think, New Zealand? You can also call us on 0800 HODAKI. Oh, please do. Please call us, please, man. Oh, my God. We'd love to hear from you. Here's you too. 50-little Reburger vouchers up for grabs. The HODAKI Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio HODAKI.
8:07Keyzie:Pearl Jam there on the Radio HODAKI Big Show this beautiful Friday afternoon. And fellas, the time has come. Our mates at Diamonds on Richmond have given us an$8 ,000 engagement ring to give away. Shall we do it? I'm so excited. Are you pumped, Mogi? I'm frothing.
8:27Mike Minogue:I'm frothing as well. Heaps of people have got themselves in the draw by going to hodoki.co.nz. They've told us about their relationships and their situations and the reasons why they should be given this$8 ,000 diamond engagement ring thanks to Diamonds on Richmond. At the end of the day, we drew it out of a hat, and all that's left to do is give them a call right now, live on air, and we will also disguise their voice. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. That's a great idea.
8:52Keyzie:Spoil the potential surprise here.
8:54Mike Minogue:Yeah, now also, one thing I've noticed about this particular winner, their name is anonymous, obviously. Yes. But they are female. Sure. So I believe what's happened is they've done the old lucky dip and pulled out someone who's asked on behalf of their partner to get the ring. So you guys ready to go? Yeah, I'm ready to go, Keezy. Fire it up. Exciting, fellas. Exciting.
9:16Keyzie:Hi, it's Hoody J, Mogey and old Keezy from the big show here. How are you going?
Read the full transcript
9:22Mike Minogue:Oh, my God. Pretty good now. G'day, Anonymous. Whereabouts are your base, by the way? Tesspronger. Hey, how good.
9:34Keyzie:Beautiful. Beautiful. All right, well, tell us your story and why you desperately need this engagement ring.
9:42Mike Minogue:Oh, my goodness. Okay, well, it's been five years with my partner, almost six. Got a baby, so he's already got his last name before I do. I think it was last year with the Leap URA. Yeah. Yeah, I've been tried proposing to him with one of those ring pops. He didn't accept that, so he's still waiting. Right, okay. So the situation here, Anonymous, is that you are going to propose to him. Well, we'll see, but probably the other way around. Yeah, make him do it the other way around. So that is one of the rules, isn't it? So generally a man, and there are no rules, but generally a man proposes to a woman, except on a leap year, on that day, the 29th of February, a woman will go out and they will propose to the men who have been useless.
10:24So that's what's happened last year. But he hasn't followed through.
10:27Keyzie:But now... Great news, Anonymous, because you've won yourself an$8 ,000 engagement ring.
10:34Mike Minogue:Oh, my God. That is incredible. Thank you so much. No worries at all, Anonymous. That's all thanks to our mates at Diamonds on Richmond. And just, I mean, obviously you don't want to give too much away right now, Anonymous, but are you thinking you'll give it to him and say, get down on one knee, or will you tell him to plan something? Oh, God. Plan something would be nice. Yeah, wouldn't it be nice? He's going to make an effort, for God's sake. You've gone through all the trouble of earning an$8 ,000 engagement ring. The least he can do is make a plan as to how he's going to give it to you. I know.
11:06Mike Minogue:I've kind of almost ruined the surprise already. Oh, it has ruined the surprise. You know what?
11:09Keyzie:Forget the whole thing.
11:11Mike Minogue:No, no, no, no, no.
11:13Keyzie:Anonymous, once it's all done and dusted, you've got to send us a few pics, eh? Oh, yeah.
11:18Mike Minogue:Oh, absolutely. It's not a problem at all. Awesome. All right, Anonymous. Congratulations. That$8 ,000 diamond engagement ring is all yours. We'll hand you over to Pugsana, all right? Oh, my God. Thank you so much. No worries. And a big thank you to Diamonds on Richmond for making this thing all possible. They are the engagement ring specialists, so make sure if you're thinking of dropping a knee, you go and see them. Yeah.
11:39Keyzie:She sounded pretty stoked, to be fair, fellas. I mean, why wouldn't you be in a Friday afternoon? You've just won yourself an$8 ,000 diamond ring.
11:46Mike Minogue:Lucky. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
11:53Keyzie:The Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The big poll today, is it okay to make love when you're sleeping in someone else's bed?
12:03Mike Minogue:That's right. We obviously just gave away that great 8K diamond ring. Now that it's done, we have to pick up this conversation because, Jase, you are currently house-sitting for your in-laws.
12:12Keyzie:Well, yeah. Hypothetically. Hypothetically. Hypothetically. But you are, though, aren't you?
12:16Mike Minogue:No, hypothetically speaking, Kesey. And the question is, are you allowed to make love in someone else's bed? The other interesting part of this is that you chose to sleep in your in-laws' bed when there's a spare bed there.
12:25Keyzie:Can I just clarify? Can I clarify? You're a sicko, yeah. I did not make that choice. Yeah, I think if it was me and it was my in-laws and my wife said, oh, we're going to sleep in my dad's bed tonight, I would have something to say about that. I would have a lot to say about that. I'd be like, that's weird. I don't want to sleep in Greg's bed. I mean, hypothetically speaking, it's just such a lovely room. Sure. You know what I mean? And it's got a great view. And so it's like, well, you know, there's nothing. I mean, we're all family here, for goodness sakes.
12:56Mike Minogue:That's what I mean. Okay. So you are sleeping in his bed, even though there's a spare room, and you want to know if it's okay to make love in there.
13:04Keyzie:Well, I'm not talking about – I don't want to make this about me, Felix. Right, okay, okay. Sure. Okay, sorry. I'm just talking generally speaking.
13:12Mike Minogue:You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. Well, let's go to the lines and see what people reckon. Carter from Christchurch, how are you going, man? Oh, yeah, good, bro, good. Bloody good. Do you have an opinion on if you're allowed to make love while staying in someone else's bed? Yeah, yeah. Hey, I reckon if it's a friend of a friend that's asked, then go hell for leather. But close family, close relatives, I think it's a no-no. It's a bit cooked. Yeah, OK. So the closer you are, the more respect you have for them than you don't. But if it's a friend of a friend, go hell for leather.
13:44Mike Minogue:Yeah, 100%. Good on you, man. Good on you, Carter. You're a sicko, Carter. Hold the line and Pugs will sort you out. Scott from Wellington, what do you make of it, man? Are you allowed to make love while staying in someone else's bed?
13:56Keyzie:Well, you know, I look at it like this. Yeah, I think it can be a no-go zone, but if you've got a mattress protector, well, that could be another thing. That's right. I mean, what do you people talk? You guys are sick, man. That's good stuff, Scott. My God. I mean, come on now, man. Far out.
14:19Mike Minogue:Thanks, Scott. Yeah, we'll chuck you on hold, mate. Pugs will sort you out with something. So I think that's, you know, as long as it's got a mattress protector on it, all good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. Yeah. Yeah, that's a bit graphic. Yeah, I mean, that is just. Is it? That's disgusting. So no, but like a mattress protector, because we've got one on our spare bed. Right. But we've had like kids stay the night and all sorts and like really drunk people too. So if they vomit in there or accidentally do wheeze, it's good as gold. Yeah, cool.
14:47Mike Minogue:I wish I'd never brought it up now. You're a sicko, man. You're in your dad's bed. I'm not in my dad's bed. You are.
14:53Keyzie:I am not in my dad's bed. And the things you're getting up to, man.
14:58Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
15:02Keyzie:Blind Melon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.47. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
15:17Keyzie:Yes. Oh yes Yes Oh yes Yes Fellas, over the weekend I watched The quite magnificent Finding Nemo Great movie My daughter hadn't seen it before and we chucked that on If you haven't seen it for a while I highly recommend you throw it on Every single thing about it is absolutely amazing Amazing Five massive Buzzies Really out of five? It is one of the great movies. It's a perfect movie. It's so good. And my kids were enamoured with it too back in the day. And I loved it, just watching it as an old fella.
16:00Mike Minogue:It's interesting because I saw actually a meme on this. Because I learnt this in school. That those fish, the clownfish. Yeah, clowns. They're all females. And then there's one male to like a herd of clownfish. And then if the male dies, one of the other females turns into the male. Right. And then becomes the male. And so they can switch. And so the meme was like, oh, if Finding Nemo was realistic, the dad, you know, when the dad went missing, Nemo would have changed instead of looking for Nemo. Yeah, a little Nemo there. Now, lots of great characters in it. Keezy, I tell you what, your wife would love it.
16:39Keyzie:Your wife would love it. She does love it. She would.
16:41Mike Minogue:She likes Big Bruce and Dory.
16:44Keyzie:I watched a series, started watching a series last night that I've been desperate to watch, but I can't watch it because it's on neon and I don't have neon. But in the house that I'm currently in, they do have neon. Nice. And the series is called Task with the ever-excellent Mark Ruffalo who plays a very down-and-out, and this sounds very boring, but very down-and-out FBI agent. Oh, God, he doesn't have a problem with alcohol, does he? He does. his son's in prison his wife has died and his daughter's basically looking after him he's been asked to set up a task force because he's been doing other duties because of all the stress he's under he's been doing other duties but what's going on is that this group of men keep raiding all these drug dens just when they get all their money in and stealing all their money and then in one of these raids where they're trying to steal all this drug group's money it goes horribly wrong.
17:44And it's very, very, very good. He doesn't sound like the kind of guy that should be leading a task force. Not with everything that's going on in his life. I'm worried about it.
17:52Keyzie:Well, and that's what they, you know, they say it in the show. He's like, no, you mean now you want me to do this now? With me like how I am? And it's like, I've got no choice. It's really good. Great. Really good. Highly recommended. From what I've seen, I saw two episodes. I'd give it 4.2 buzzies. Wow.
18:09Mike Minogue:4.2 buzzies out of five. and it's on neon. Neon. It's called task. Task. Nice. Last night, my wife was at like an awards events night thing. She's really busy at the moment. Yeah, she's busy. So we got home and she's like, I need to watch something just to zone out for half an hour. All right? Put on country calendar. It was an episode about a lady who runs a business harvesting horse, deer and cow placentas. Oh, really? And making collagen. Wow. And it was pretty like, but it was like. Harvesting. It was almost 10 o 'clock and they had big troughs of all the slop and they were stirring it around and stuff.
18:43Mike Minogue:We were sitting there with our decaf cups of tea going, oh, this isn't really getting us warmed down for bed, is it?
18:48Keyzie:Collagen is actually an interesting thing. I watch on YouTube, one of my favourite things is Uncle Rural Gourmet, who's a Chinese guy and the Chinese people, when they're cooking their food, they love the collagen because it's obviously really good for your... It's good for your skin, your hair and your nails. Yeah, my wife was explaining it to me and I sort of tuned out temporarily. But apparently it's very good for you.
19:13Mike Minogue:Well, I'll tell you what, that episode was pretty full on. How do you harvest a placenta there? I guess you just go and grab it when it sort of falls out. I've no idea. But it was pretty, yeah, you know. Hot. Two and a half buzzies out of five. Thanks, mate. Up next, by the way, let's call a couple of winners and give away a signed copy of the Big Show vinyl, eh? Do we have to? The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
19:40Keyzie:Blue there on the Radio Hauraki big show this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.54 now. We've released a final, haven't we, Fielce? We sure have, man. It got released this morning. It's the story of the big show, our origin story. Yes. How we came to be, how you and I met Jase, how we then met Keezy, how we all then met Pugsan. And, God, there's some filthy yarns that have come out of it. We went and sat in a studio. We had a chat for probably about an hour or so. About an hour, yeah. Cut it down to just the core brilliance of 48 minutes. And now we've released said vinyl, and then we've only a couple of hundred copies from what I understand.
20:20And we're having an opportunity to give a couple away today, Keezy.
20:24Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's right. Pug Sun just said 58 minutes, actually. Wow. So he obviously couldn't cut it down. Why would you want to, to be fair? There is limited edition, so if you do want a copy, text the word vinyl to 3483 to get yourself a link. But we put the call out earlier. We said if you would like one of the special edition signed copies of the Big Show vinyl, text us on 3483. Tell us why you deserve it. We've got a couple of winners on the line now, fellas. Let's go to Ben from Christchurch. How are you going?
20:51Keyzie:Yeah, g'day, fellas. Good things. It's yourselves? Yeah, good things, mate. Tell me, Ben, why on earth would you want a vinyl of the Big Show?
20:59Mike Minogue:Well, that's what my partner's sort of asking. She thinks it's a bit of a waste of money, but I just couldn't really pass up on the opportunity to learn a bit more of the big show law. Yeah, yeah, great stuff, mate.
21:09Keyzie:Great answer.
21:09Mike Minogue:It is true, though, because if you're like, hey, can I take however much it costs for the vinyl? I haven't actually checked. I'm not sure. And buy a vinyl of those guys you hate listening to on the radio. Yeah, that's right. My wife would say the same thing. Yes. She'd be like, no. All right, well, good news, Ben. You've won yourself a copy, mate. Oh, dear. To yourself. Good on you, mate. Enjoy it.
21:27Keyzie:G'day, Lucas, you mad bastard. How's life? G'day, Phil. You having a good Friday afternoon there, are you, Lucas? Yeah, very good Friday. Thanks, boys. Good stuff, mate. And why do you need a copy?
21:42Mike Minogue:Just because I want one. And it'll be a good lesson, to be honest. Yeah, good on you, Lucas. You get it, man. What do you do for a crust, Lucas? I'm a builder's apprentice. Oh, you're a backbone.
21:53Keyzie:Yeah, backbone. Yeah. What's the plan for your Friday afternoon? A beautiful day. Yeah, beautiful down here. kicking back with some beers in the bro. I was talking to your bro, and he was saying that you're a shocking bastard.
22:07Mike Minogue:I can hear you, Mogey. He's on speaker. Good stuff, Lucas. Well, congrats, mate. You've got a signed copy of that vinyl as well, man. Cheers, boys. No worries, mate.
22:18Keyzie:It is, you know, there's something about, you know, having your voice on a vinyl, isn't there, boys? Well, that's right. I mean, who would have thought? Yeah. Who would have thought? Not me. We've got T-shirts as well, fellas. We've got all sorts of cool stuff, don't we, eh? I mean, I never wear the T-shirt, and I won't listen to the vinyl either. That's shit. I mean, I quite often wear the T-shirts. I wouldn't listen to the vinyl, though. But only when you're sleeping in your father-in-law's bed, you sicko. You sicko. Shocking bastard. Throbber up next.
22:49Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
22:58It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber
23:03Keyzie:Doge Doge Oh yeah Thank you Come on James Welcome back you massive backbones I hope your Friday afternoon's going along very nicely Why wouldn't it be? Now the Throbber theme today of course Has to be Halloween Has to be I don't know how you guys found this I found a lot of sort of rock, hard rock tunes You know with Halloween in it
23:25Mike Minogue:With Halloween in it.
23:26Keyzie:Halloween. Halloween. And they were all terrible.
23:29Mike Minogue:Right. Wait, so they had the word Halloween in it. They had Halloween in it. Did you just type Halloween into Spotify? Yes. Hip-hop Halloween. Did you find that? I was typing stuff in like zombie. Yeah, vampire. Scary. Yeah. Right, okay. I typed in ooh. And a few songs came up like there's a great song from The Zombies, but it's not a throbber. No, it's not a throbber. So you've got, yeah, it's a real tough one. It's a tough one. Every year we struggle with this. Yes, we do. Yeah, we do. Actually, I don't know why we bother. I only locked mine in five minutes ago. Keezy was going hard. It is tough.
24:01I'll give it to you, man.
24:02Mike Minogue:I'll give it to you. Who wants to go? Well, I prefer you didn't. Who wants to go first? You go first, man, because I'm interested to see what you come up with.
24:09Keyzie:Yeah, because you've been working so hard on it. I've been working that hard. It feels like you were there in the studio with Pugs on, just smashing the desk.
24:17Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. Just trying to get it right. I will admit, this is the hardest I've had to think about a throbber in a long time. Yeah. and put a few things up, crossed them out after listening to them, ended with a Kiwi classic from the Datsuns. Oh, nice. Like a Mother F 'er from Hell. Yeah.
24:33Keyzie:She made me crazy, she may not be red. She made me feel like a motherfucker from hell.
24:42Like a motherfucker from hell, yeah.
24:45Mike Minogue:That was Pugsar doing the edits on that.
24:47Keyzie:That's great. That's great. Yeah, it's a great tune. It is. But I'm not sure about the... Well, it's from hell. I mean, you've got to count. No, no, I just mean I'm not sure about the swearing in it. Oh, the swearing. Well, as long as he's gone through and he's blanked out every single one of them, then that's all we have to work. Well, what we've got.
25:02Mike Minogue:Even better if he hasn't blanked out any of them. We've got the radio edit version. Oh. Because it is a tune, but if you put the F word in it a lot, we can't play it, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who wants to go next? I can go next. Are you sure you don't? Well, just get it over and done with. Do you reckon you could get your eyes to the front first?
25:19Keyzie:Don't get strong up. By the way I look Don't judge a boob by his cover I'm not much of a man By the light of day But by night I'm one hell of a lover I'm just a sweet transvestite So it's from Rocky Horror? Yeah, man. That's the one that I suggested for you yesterday, Jase. Yeah, well, I was going through the one, actually. I used to love that tune back in the day. Yeah, man. Was it Tim Curry? He's bloody great. He was great.
25:53Mike Minogue:Steph Curry. No, it's Tim Curry. No, it isn't. It's Steph Curry. Keezy. And I've gone with this one from System of a Down. It's Spiders. Dreams are made winding through my heart.
26:12Through my heart.
26:19A couple of tunes here, fellas. Spiders. Spiders, yeah. A couple of great tunes there. A couple of absolute weapons.
26:25Keyzie:I agree. I agree. A couple is two, right? You'll get no argument from me.
26:29Mike Minogue:Give us a call, 0800HORAKI. Who would you like to see win the throbber today? First to two votes wins. Yes, indeed.
26:36Keyzie:In the meantime, here's Queen and David Bowie.
26:39Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
26:50It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Yeah, man. Douche, douche. Come on, Jase, man.
26:58Keyzie:Sorry, man. If you win this, you get an asterisk. Yeah, you do. I just, I'm losing my focus here.
27:03Mike Minogue:You do get an asterisk for stealing Mogi's idea for a throbber. No, there's not stealing anyone's ideas.
27:10Keyzie:Look, fellas, relax. I'm not going to win, so we don't need to worry about an asterisk. Don't say that. What if I do it to describe? No, you get an asterisk for cheating as well. God.
27:23Mike Minogue:Shock it. You're a shocker, man.
27:24Keyzie:Just so you know, by the way, the theme is Halloween.
27:27Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, scary theme. I went first. I chose a tune from the Datsuns, good old Kiwi band. It's called Like a Mother Effer from Hell.
27:35Keyzie:She may be crazy. She may not be red. She made me feel like a motherfucker from hell.
27:47Mike Minogue:Good editing from Pugsun, yeah? That's a tune, man. That is a tune. Haven't you heard it in ages? No.
27:51Keyzie:What's that about? Can you get an asterisk for editing? For tattooing with the song?
27:58Mike Minogue:Well, because what I did there, Jase, is I edited out, well, Pugs edited out the swear words, man. Yeah, yeah. I know you like leaving them in.
28:04Keyzie:I prefer to leave them in. Yeah.
28:06Mike Minogue:Remember that time that you picked that song with like a million N-bombs in it? That was shocking.
28:13Keyzie:That was bloody shock. It was terrible. What did you choose today, man? Oh, this old classic. Don't get strung up by the way I look. Don't judge a book by its cover. I'm not much of a man by the light of day.
28:31Mike Minogue:But by night I'm one hell of a lover. What's the name of that song? Sweet Transvestite. And that's from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It is, yes. Which is a Halloween show. Oh, Sweet Transvestite. That's a good call there, Keezy. What's that got to do with Halloween?
28:50Keyzie:They're all crazy Halloween characters. Rocky horror. And it's a horror show. Oh, yeah, there we go. Plus, we can't give them four asterisks. Yeah, come on, man. I went with Spiders by System of a Down. Dreams are made winding through my head.
29:11Through my heart
29:41Keyzie:mad bastard. How's life?
29:43Mike Minogue:G'day, you sickos. How you doing? Yeah, what do you say?
29:46Keyzie:What do you know there?
29:47Mike Minogue:Oh, mate, I'm going to have to say that old Keezy and Horty and a couple of shocks, Bars. We're going to go with old Moby-O. Get on you, mate. Get on you, mate. It's a shock. Good stuff.
29:59Keyzie:G'day, Lee, you mad bastard. How's life?
30:02Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's good. How are you guys? Yeah, good. I'm loving it.
30:05Keyzie:Yeah, good. What are you going for, Lee?
30:07Mike Minogue:I'm going to have to tie it all up because I only vote for Jason Hoyt. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
30:11Keyzie:Very shocking, bastard. Yeah, good on you. All right, tiebreaker, let's do it. What do we got? Okay, Aussie, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, not too bad. Boys yourself? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Yeah. Yeah, good, thanks, mate. You're the decider here, Aussie. What are you going with?
30:30Mike Minogue:I'm, mate, I'm an old school boy, and I like to serve it down. Moggy. Yeah.
30:37Keyzie:Good on you, Aussie. I almost thought he was going to go for me then. Actually, I thought he was as well. Absolutely, I did. But the man's got taste. Yeah, it's a good tune.
30:46Mike Minogue:Did you guys think he was going to go for me? No. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. 3483. What do you think of today's Throbber winner, Moji's System of a Down, Spiders? Let us know. It's a good tune. It's a tune. Crank it up, hoody jizz. Crank it. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
31:04Keyzie:Well, there you go. There's your Friday Throbber System of a Down, fellas. Spiders.
31:09Mike Minogue:Spiders. We should play that song. Yeah, we should. It's a tune, man. You're saying it was one of their first singles? I believe it was off the album prior to the one that broke, which was Toxicity. And I remember being in Australia, and a mate sent me this and said, man, you've got to listen to it. And it was playing on Channel Z back in the day. Remember that? Yeah, absolutely. Channel Z ruled. So that was the first time I ever heard them, and it was like, yeah, boy. We should play more tunes like that that were from early albums. I think so. Big bands, you know? Because it's good shit, man.
31:36Mike Minogue:Agreed. By the way, the Robbo scoreboard is Mogi is way out in front on 13. My first time in the league this year. Well done, man. I just want to thank you guys, man. You're a shocking bastard. You're welcome. Jase, you are second on 12 with two asterisks for playing a Pantera song with a million F-bombs and coercing a listener. And I'm coming last on seven with two asterisks for playing Freebird when it wasn't relevant and bullying Mogi. For some reason that's funny every time we say it I never get to sing of that one Good stuff Now fellas this morning the Breakfast Show organised to have a yarn with Hoity J Oh yes To publicise the fact that our vinyl limited edition is on sale now If you'd like a copy text vinyl to 3483 And I had a feeling because we were on the way to golf I had a feeling he wasn't going to answer his phone And so I was kind of ready to call in and it ended up being a bit of a debacle Might just listen back to it if that's all G Yes please The Big Show have a new vinyl out.
32:38Mike Minogue:It's the Radio Hodoki Big Show origin story where I'm told that they will bear all, all of the nitty-gritty details behind the scenes as to how this show got off the ground. I think Keezy's actually calling through. How good is that? Morning, mate. How are you? G'day, guys. Hey, sorry about Jase. This is classic of your operation that you're running there, Keezy, that you're the one that's coming through for Jase. Very typical. Yeah. Yeah, well, what's actually happened is we've booked a game of golf out in the WAPS. And as I was driving, I'm on my way there now. And I was like, you know what?
33:13Mike Minogue:Jase is not going to have any signal. He's not going to answer his phone. And so immediately I thought, shit, better call up the old breakfast show and tell them about our sweet vinyl. Well, actually, hang on. I think he has got a bit of reception. Jase, are you there? Good morning.
33:27Keyzie:Oh, yeah, g'day, fellas. Sorry about that. I was just on the putting green there and just having a bit of a warm-up at the beautiful Ipakati golf course. And can I just say, usual practice on that front, absolutely nailing the putts on the screen. So I know it's going to be an absolute shambles.
33:46Mike Minogue:I'm sure you were, Jay, sure you were. You nailed the putt, but you can't nail calling up on time, can you?
33:51Keyzie:Yeah, it was my bad. So I didn't feel the vibration in my pocket. I was concentrating so hard on my putting that, you know, I didn't feel it.
33:59Mike Minogue:It's billed as an open, honest, raw insight into the big show, how it got started, the future, where it's at right now. Was it quite tense recording this? Did you touch on a couple of things that hit a few nerves for people?
34:13Keyzie:Well, it was really interesting you say that, Manar, because...
34:16Mike Minogue:I was asking Chris there, Jase, actually, if you don't mind.
34:18Keyzie:Oh, is Chris on the phone too, is he? I thought he was on the phone. Is he here? Hi, Jase.
34:23Mike Minogue:Hi, how are you? Yeah, basically, the way it works, mate, whenever they get you to do anything, they need me there to just make sure you don't say the wrong thing.
34:32Keyzie:He genuinely didn't know that he was... I had no idea. But actually, there was a moment there I thought, jeez, that sounds like cheesy.
34:45Mike Minogue:I'm probably looking forward to listening to the podcast.
34:50Keyzie:Yeah, it was a shambles. Yeah, it's good stuff. Well, you know, because I wasn't listening to the interview when it started there, so I had no idea that Keezy was there. But I did think at some point when I heard him speaking, God, it sounds like Keezy. You just assumed it was Manaya or Jerry there having a go at you for not having called in. And fair enough, mate. Fair enough. You've got a mate for great radio. That's good stuff. God, you guys sound good on breakfast, I've got to say. Yeah, we do. Really, really good. We really do, don't we? Really, really good stuff. You know, it's funny you should say that, Maggie, because I feel like that's when my voice is at its best.
35:21I would absolutely agree with that.
35:23Keyzie:And then by the end of the day, it gets a bit ragged.
35:25Mike Minogue:Yeah. See, I would say midnight till dawn for you. Midnight till dawn? Yeah, why not? Chilis? Yeah, why not? Oh, yeah. Jason, are those chips? What do you mean, man? You've stolen chips. Chili chips. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
35:43Keyzie:Foo Fighters here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time, 5.31. Hey, fellas. Hey, last night I went along to Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil, yeah. Cirque du Soleil, with my wife and my daughter, jeez. Oh, your daughter was there? Yeah, she was there. Is this one and a half mogis? Five, six, seven, eight. Man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man, man.
36:18You guys go too fast. That was a bit fast, wasn't it? It was. I thought it was just being loved to see how it went, but it was too funny. So we went along to this thing. It's called Koteo. I think it's one of their original ones. It's about a clown, and he has a funeral, but he imagines his funeral with all of his friends there doing all this amazing and cool stuff. That is one of the originals, yeah. It's fantastic. It's done in the round. It's at Spark Arena up here in Auckland. It's done in the round, so the audience sits on either side of the stage. And all sorts of things. You've got your trapeze, your trampolines, your, what do you call those?
36:51Aquamats? Women that go against the pole there. Pole dancers? I wouldn't know. And, yeah, all sorts of everything. There's giants. There's a giant. An actual giant. He's massive. But it's not a person with stilts. No, no. That's exactly what we thought. But nah, it wasn't. He was a giant. He was like 7 '6 or something. He was freaky. Wow. Yeah. And little people as well. All sorts of different people. So, anyway, went along. And what's great is they've got a little. And can I just say, if you get an opportunity to go, you simply must. Absolutely brilliant. Cannot recommend it highly enough. I've been to one before.
37:23I didn't rate it. This one's awesome. And anyway, they have a segment of the show where they pull somebody out of the audience. In this case, it was Mogi Minogi, my daughter. Wow. Now, it's where they have that trapeze, sort of the trapeze. So it's where you have two people hanging out of the ceiling and one passes somebody else to the other person. Oh, my goodness. And the other person will grab the other one and all sorts of stuff like that. Well, they do that. And it's sort of a simple thing where, you know, it's a very low level and just passing her. She got up there and they passed my daughter.
37:53They threw your daughter? Well, they just passed her. It was pretty tame. Yeah, but how high, though? Only about sort of six feet off the ground or whatever. Oh, okay. So it was pretty tame. Anyway, she goes over and she whispers in one of the areas there. Next thing you know, it's been hoiked up 30 metres in the air. She's been swung back and forth. They're going at 180 miles per hour. Well, long and the short of it is, Cirque du Soleil has designed an entire show around her and it starts touring the world next year and she's a star of it. Wow.
38:20Mike Minogue:Are you serious? What's it called? I've never seen anything like it. Unbelievable. It's funny you should say that, actually. Hang on, sorry, because how old is she? She's six. Six, wow.
38:31Keyzie:Well, she's a talented kid, you know what I mean? Far out. I'm very proud. My youngest was really interested in the old gymnastics. Oh, yeah. And so they had a sort of open day with New Zealand gymnastics, with a woman sort of doing the high bars and stuff like that. Cool. And my daughter was like, oh, can I have a go? Can I have a go? And so they went, yeah, sure, sure. And she was amazing, you know, that you go around and around and around and around and around in the high bar. The high bar, yeah. And then you dismount. Yes. She did this magnificent zoo, zoo, zoo, flew in the air, landed on the ground and snapped a leg in half.
39:17Oh. It wasn't one of those compound fractures, was it? It was a shocker. I know that much. Did she pull up lame?
39:24Keyzie:She sure did.
39:27Mike Minogue:I was so embarrassed. I just made her walk home. By the way, the gigalittle siren thing has not gone off today, so make sure you listen out. If you hear the roar of the encore, give us a call on 0800-HAURAKI. You could win$250. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. You guys ready to rock? The Radio Hodaiki Giga Little Fund is open. We will, we will fund you.
39:57Keyzie:Yes, and I think I'm right in saying this is the last day of this, fellas. The final Giga Little. Yeah, the final, final Giga Little on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Perfect.
40:08Mike Minogue:That's right. Our mates at Super Liquor, they gave us$10 ,000 all up to give away to the great New Zealanders out there to get you gigging again. And it's the last day of October. but get your gigging again. That was really good. Thank you. Get your gigging again. Get your gigging again. I like that. That's another new competition. Get your gigging again. Write that down with you, pugs, man. Get your gigging again.
40:28Keyzie:Get a Kurt, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, just give it away. Going pretty grouse there, Jase. How's things? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. I can't complain. Oh, yes. How you going, Mogi? Kurt, I just wondered, man, is it okay if we get your gigging again? Yeah, I'll get you gigging again.
40:49Mike Minogue:That's a mouthful, mate. It is a mouthful, Kurt. Nothing you can't handle, though, brother. You love it. You love it. What do you do for a crust, Kurt? Work in property, mate. Work in property? Oh, you're a burglar. You're a shocking bastard, Kurt. It's funny you should say that because these,
41:07Keyzie:my two co-hosts are forever on their phones looking for property, mate. Oh, no, I'm looking at filth. Oh, you're looking at filth. Keith, they're constantly scrolling all these properties. Whereabouts are you based, Kurt? Based in Auckland, mate. Okay, well, maybe you fellas should have a bit of a chat off air, maybe.
41:28Mike Minogue:Why are you doing this on my behalf?
41:30Keyzie:Well, because you're so desperate to find a place, Keith.
41:32Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm just browsing the property market. I mean, Kurt, who sounds like he's a burglar and a shocker bastard, I mean, I don't know if I want him involved. No, I can help you out. I know where all the nice places are. I bet you do. Yeah, shit, yeah. Good on you. Son of a B.
41:46Keyzie:Hey, now tell me, Kurt, who would you like to go and see in terms of going to a gig a little? I really, really want to go to Tool, but the tickets are like super expensive.
41:57Mike Minogue:Yeah, mate. Oh, they are. Well. Worth it, though. Good news there, Kurt. You've got yourself$250, mate.
42:04Keyzie:Oh, how good. Oh, that's awesome. Thanks, boys. No worries, mate. I saw Tool when they came out. It might have been five years ago, which is unbelievable to me. and it is an absolute gem of a show.
42:17Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it. Can I do a quick shout-out, please? Certainly can, Kurt. Who's that to? I'd love to. As to Anthony Wright, he's just texted me. I think he's going to the gig as well. Oh, that's nice. Oh, Anthony Wright, he's a shocking bastard, actually. Yeah, he is. Mr. Wright, he is pretty shocking. Congrats, Kurt. That money's all yours. And a big shout-out to Super Liquor for getting people gigging again. You've given us all that cash to give away, fellas. Yeah, it's bloody good of them. They're good bastards, aren't they? Absolute back, though. Here's She-Hart. The Hauraki Big Show.
42:53Mike Minogue:Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
42:55Keyzie:DD Smash there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 5.52. Now, fellas, something quite dramatic happened to me yesterday. I forgot to mention it. Oh, no. It was between me and Jizz. Oh, your cat. My cat, yeah. Jizz. And anyway, I was walking down my path because I'd just been to the local dairy. You know my local dairy there, Keezy? Yeah. Next to the Golden Potatoes place. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the fried chicken. Anyway, and as I was walking down the path, my daughter was there. And we've got like a little sort of over our deck, a little, I guess you'd call it like a, what's the plastic?
43:33Keyzie:A roof? Yeah, it's a roof. Oh, yeah. Yeah, a plastic roof over. I know what I was there. And Jizz was on the roof. Oh, wow. And my daughter was, you know, because it's her cat technically. She's pretty fond of me now, to be fair. I seem to be your favourite. I don't know why that is. Your daughter or the cat? No, the cat. Oh, yeah, your daughter's not so much? She's not really into my daughter. She's more into me. Oh, right, okay. I don't know why that is. I guess I just have that energy, you know what I mean?
43:59Mike Minogue:Yeah.
43:59Keyzie:Anyway, so Jizz was sitting on the roof there, and my daughter was talking about how cute it was, and she was videoing it. And I was like, oh, yeah, that is pretty cute, I suppose. She was just sort of luxuriating in the sun. And then all of a sudden, true story, out of the blue, bang, right on the roof. And it was like we both went expletive, expletive. You and the cat. And the cat as well, and my daughter. And then I told her off for using an expletive. The cat. And then she told me to F off. The cat did. Yeah, the cat told me and I told my daughter. What did your daughter say? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
44:34Keyzie:She just said F off. She just meowed at you, didn't she? Yeah. and it was like, what the bloody hell was that? What was it? It was a rock. Someone, to explain my house, my house is off the street, so it's sort of down in a little valley. Right. And the path, the footpath goes sort of right above it. So some sick bastard obviously got a rock and saw us sort of chatting there with the cat on the roof and threw a rock on my bloody roof. What do you think about that? I thought it was bloody outrageous. It was not on, I'll tell you that, mate. Somebody could have been killed. And then like five minutes later, I went, I'm going to go and see who did that.
45:08Keyzie:Of course, they'd already gone. Five minutes later. Jeez, you're a tough guy. I was going to deck the bastard, you know what I mean? And I'm sort of wondering, you know, and I don't know if you guys, because, you know, we're pretty big celebrities, don't you think? Who? You and Jizz? No, the three of us. Your daughter? Oh, the three of us. I mean, we're top radio DJs. Are we getting to the point in this world now where we need some kind of security? Gated security. Maybe a gated community. You know, if we go out, because, I mean, what's that about? Someone chucking rocks at old Hoity J? Usually I get hoity J, your backbone out of a car, or a pat on the arse from a stranger.
45:40I've got people throwing rocks at me. Or I want your F off back to Grey Lynn, that sort of stuff. Oh, yeah. I mean, that did happen one time.
45:47Mike Minogue:To your fancy villa in Grey Lynn. Are you confident that it was intentional and not an accident?
45:53Keyzie:Well, there was no other explanation for it because it was a big rock. It was about the size of my fist. They don't throw it themselves. The size of Jace's fist. So it was probably like a pebble, like a bit of gravel. Yeah. It got thrown up by a passing car. It freaked us out because it just came from nowhere.
46:10Mike Minogue:Yeah, maybe it was like some local teenage kids being dicks. It sounds like some ne 'er-do-wells.
46:15Keyzie:I tell you what, man, I don't know if you've ever been out west, Mogey. She's rough country there, man. I try and avoid it. And, you know, I've talked about the marauding kids out west Auckland. She's tough going. Do you think they've started targeting your house because you're constantly bagging that joint? People out west? Yeah, probably. Yeah. I mean, what more damage can be done? You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
46:38Mike Minogue:And did you manage to get your daughter off the roof? Eventually.
46:46Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
46:52Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. God, I hope your Friday's really going off wherever you are or maybe you're just chilling and relaxing and having a good old time. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.
47:05Mike Minogue:Serving good times and good food, dine-in or takeaway Reburger today.
47:14Keyzie:Oh, Mike, are you a ghost?
47:17Mike Minogue:Imagine a world without crepe with these street food, freshly made at Reburger.
47:25Keyzie:I can't imagine a world without those delicious beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. And Reburger? That wouldn't be very yum. No.
47:41Mike Minogue:Good stuff. That's an ad for Reburger, by the way. Not Halloween. No, no, no. It's Halloween today, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I get confused between Friday the 13th. Right, which is on the 13th. Of just a random Friday. Any Friday. That is also the 13th day of the month. Friday the 13th day of the month. You didn't know that, and I'm shocked. Is that what's happening here, Keezy? No, no, no, hang on. But that's like a similar thing. Don't you do spooky stuff that day as well? No, it's just there's lots of bad luck stuff. It's just as a black Friday, it's bad luck.
48:12Keyzie:Just on the Halloween front. I didn't know that, and we were talking about it yesterday. I didn't know that if you put decorations out the front of your house, that means you want people to come. But if you don't do that, then you don't want people to come. Yeah, well, I'm not necessarily... Is that a thing? I don't know. I mean, back in the day, nobody used to decorate their house when I was growing up. So you just went to everybody's house and everybody told you to piss off. Yes.
48:33Mike Minogue:And I guess because the kids come to your house, right? And I think it's because you've got so many real spiderwebs everywhere. They think it's decorated.
48:43Keyzie:Yeah, maybe. Maybe, man. I don't know. I've never been to your house. Yeah, it is possible. And then they see old Hoggle rocking around in the front garden. Yeah, yeah. Go, who's throwing rocks? Who's throwing rocks?
48:56Mike Minogue:Pesky kids. Hey, up next we're going to cross live to Bec, who's in Christchurch, and she's got tickets to give away to the old full metal orchestra. So if you're in Christchurch, you might want to stay tuned. Great stuff. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
49:17Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Soundgarden there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Friday evening. Now, while you fellows were away on your European sojourn, and I simply must get over there, Pug San and I had the real pleasure of going to the Full Metal Orchestra. Oh, do you mean the Manuka Fuel Full Metal Orchestra? Exactly that one, Keezy. And it was a bloody great night. Hand on heart, everyone that went loved it.
49:45Mike Minogue:Great singing, great music, great tunes. That's right, because it's hard rock and heavy metal classics with a massive rock band and a full live orchestra and some of New Zealand's biggest musical talent performing as well. It was so successful, in fact, that it is happening in Christchurch. And fellas, down in Christchurch right now is our New Days host, Bec Sandys, who I believe is on some sort of magical line. Bec, are you there? I am here. How are you? Yeah, good, mate.
50:11Keyzie:What's the vibe down in Christchurch today, Bec? The vibe's rocking. Yeah? It's rocking and rolling. Is that frothing it down there, man? I'm frothing it, mate.
50:18Mike Minogue:Yeah, thought they would be. Far out. What, the hodaki or the full metal orchestra?
50:23Keyzie:Just everything. Yeah. Full frothal.
50:26Mike Minogue:Yeah.
50:26Keyzie:Full frothal. Hey, Bec, you're going to it, eh? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Have you been to one before? No. Yeah, it's bloody good times, mate. Bloody good times. But I understand you've got a double pass to give away.
50:38Mike Minogue:We have. Yes. Because it's Halloween and we're in Christchurch, if you can find the hodaki truck near the Margaret Mahi playground, if you come up to us with the code word hot dog, you'll get a double pass go see it at Wolf Brook Arena tomorrow night is that any relation to the Margaret Mahi park?
50:55Keyzie:yeah Margaret Mahi Margaret Mahi so Margaret Mahi's the one that's way harder work yeah it's more work she worked hard mate she worked real hard she's a backbone she is a backbone so am I right you're dressed up as a hot dog you're normally dressed up as a mad dog so somebody comes up to you and they go hot dog but they have to say it like that and then they get the double pass they do yeah how good Hey, will you enjoy that, Bec? And hopefully some backbone will come up to you and get that double pass, eh?
51:22Mike Minogue:Hopefully. All right, and Bec, you make sure you have a massive weekend, all right? Enjoy that concert. Gono. All right, guys, see you. Bye, mate! Bloody Ripper. So near the Margaret Mahey Playground in Christchurch, find the hot dog in the hodaki truck, say hot dog, you get yourself a double pass. Jase, what was your favourite song from the event? Oh, that's a great question.
51:40Keyzie:Oh, they hit a Deftones. Oh! The tune in there. Did they actually? Yeah, they actually did. and I was like, hello, I can't remember what tune it was, though, but it was bloody great. Seriously, all of the tunes were great. And what really impressed me the most about it was that all of the singers were magnificent. There was not one sort of weak link. Everyone just belted out the tunes.
52:06Mike Minogue:Bloody Ripper. Well, if you are keen for a double pass as well, make sure you jump on the Hauraki socials. Bec's got a few more double passes to give away there. and tomorrow, live from 4pm, she'll be doing the official Radio Hauraki Full Metal warm-up show before the gig, fellas. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
52:27Keyzie:Joy Division there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening. Fellas, I heard some distressing news today. Well, it was great news. I was just jealous when I heard it. That was our old mate Jerry from The Breakfast Show got to play with, what's his name, Ryan Fox in a golf match yesterday. Right. How good would that be? He paired up with Foxy and they played another couple of dudes and they lost.
52:49Mike Minogue:They got smoked apparently, yeah. Because Jeremy had a shocker. Yeah, probably. Both had a shocker apparently. Oh, who were they playing? A couple of top-notch guys. Right. But I was listening to Foxy talk about it this morning and he was saying, yeah, they both were off. But Fox being off is probably... 20 strokes better than Jerry. 100%, yeah. Oh, easy. Yeah. Easy, I would say. And Jerry's better than I am too, so yeah. Really, is he? You're joking. Jeez, he must be. I can't imagine anyone's better than you, Keezy. Hang on, guys. Come on, man. You know I had a bad game today. I'm a bit down in the dumps.
53:22Mike Minogue:The good news is, though, you can come and see Ryan Fox up close and personal. One of the best events of the year, Chasing the Fox, which is happening in December the 12th at Royal Auckland in Grange, thanks to Manuka Fuel. You and three mates could win tickets, not just to go to the event, but to go and sit in the Fox Club, which is in the best spot, right in the heart of the action, in an exclusive raised area overlooking the final hole with bar access and unbeatable views of the golf and the entertainment afterwards. Now, this is the thing. This has been going for a couple of years now. It's growing exponentially each year.
53:56And we talk about chasing the fox because we know what it is. But, Kesey, can you explain for people out there, my understanding is it's teams of three. Yes. Everybody is going up against Ryan Fox, essentially, although this year he's got a partner. He's going to have a partner, yeah. But it's only played over half a dozen holes.
54:12Mike Minogue:That's right, six holes. And you can watch it on TV, and it's bloody great to watch. But I believe the last hole last year was the only one televised. That's right. And the teams that are going up against him are like Team Warriors, for example. Last year you had Wade Egan, Sean Johnson, and maybe Tamayde Martin or someone playing. That's right. They had a team of politicians. There's all these sort of different teams. John Key, Max Key. That's right. And you just have on the television, it's just set up on that last hole, and you see the 10 teams or whatever it is come home. That's right. And that's obviously where everybody will be set up on the day, having a few responsibly, right?
54:46Yeah.
54:46Keyzie:And I believe the media team won last time. They did. Mark Richardson, Dye, and Jerry. Jerry as well.
54:53Mike Minogue:And Mark was the one that actually brought them home because he's a freak. But this year, the big show is going to be, I believe we're playing the course earlier in the day. Oh, are we? Good. Yeah, even just nine holes maybe. I'm not sure. That'd be great. And then the show will be live from the event while it's all happening and that afterwards we will well and truly be getting responsibly involved. How good's that? Because that is the same day as our Christmas party and we are missing our Christmas party to be at the events. I'm having a big one and these winners can join us there. If you are keen to win those three tickets for you and three mates, head to hodaki.co.nz.
55:25Mike Minogue:And if you want to come along anyway, go to chasingthefox.com. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
55:33Keyzie:The Black Keys there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Friday evening. But right now it's time for The Big Pole.
55:50Keyzie:And the question today was, is it OK to make love when you're sleeping in someone else's bed?
55:56Mike Minogue:That's right. This comes off the back of Jase's house sitting. Hypothetically. OK, well, Jase's house sitting for his in-laws. And he's chosen to sleep in their bed. And you thought of that question this morning. So I'm just putting two and two together here. Seriously, Jase, have you made love in that bed? No.
56:14Keyzie:That's why I'm asking the question.
56:16Mike Minogue:Right, because you're planning to maybe do it. Well, who knows what could happen, Kesey? It's a Friday night, you know? Yeah. Well, what's your instincts for the big poll? Do you think New Zealand has voted yes or no? I think they've gone yes. And I would say, and I haven't seen it because I wanted to vote on this bastard there. I reckon probably 80 % say it's sweet. Yeah, right, okay. 80 % yes. Jase? I'd go 60 yes. Right, okay, 60, 80. As of right now, the poll on the Horeki Big Show's Instagram story is 70 % yes. Oh, we split it down the middle there, Moogie. Interesting.
56:52Keyzie:Well, so the predominant feeling is it's all G. Yes. Yeah, 100%. I absolutely think it's okay if it's in the spare room. Yeah, yeah. Because it's for guests. The stuff you've been getting up to, Jase, is absolutely shocking.
57:13Mike Minogue:Yeah, it is. It's great. Because I actually, like, yeah, spare room, sweet, go for gold. Absolutely. I'm never going to sleep in there. Yeah. Unless I've had an argument with my wife and I've been sent in there. That's right. Which has never happened.
57:25Keyzie:And your nose is like a chainsaw cutting through the air. Yeah, when I'm snoring, yeah.
57:31Mike Minogue:To be fair, you know when she picked me up over the weekend at 2am and I was steamed, she said to me, oh, the spare bed's been made up if you want to sleep in there. Right. And then I was like, nah, nah, nah. And then I slept in our bed and she was sweet with it. Right, because she just went and slept in the spare room. No, she didn't. So I've never been sent to the spare room before. Right, okay. Nah. Yeah, I've spent some time in the spare room. I've spent some time, but I wasn't sent there. No, no. My wife was trying to get away from me. I was like, no, no. Right, okay. So she was in the spare room and then you joined her.
58:01Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah. She was leaving.
58:02Keyzie:Yeah, right. You know how she's always leaving me?
58:04Mike Minogue:Yeah.
58:04Keyzie:Well, that's good to know then, fellas. 70 % of people say that it's all tickety-boo.
58:08Mike Minogue:Shall we do another big poll? Is it okay to make love in your dad's bed? Let us know. 3483. It'd be good to know, though, Jase, don't you think? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure, why not?
58:17Keyzie:It's all information, isn't it?
58:19Mike Minogue:It certainly is.
58:20Keyzie:Oh. Is this the ever clear? Do, do, do, do. It's all he is.
58:25Mike Minogue:The Hodaaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaaki.
58:38Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted this Friday night. And in the podcast outro today, we did get into some stuff. I just can't remember what it was.
58:48Mike Minogue:Neither. Bit of film chat. Oh, yes, film chat. You told it. In fact, you regaled us with how filming of Shortland Street works. Yes. Here's a little clip. That's right. I don't want to go on Shortland Street because I don't want to read the lines. F*** that.
59:02Keyzie:And all the cameras are synced to your lines. So if the lines go out of whack, there's like four cameras in there. And they're live cutting it to save time.
59:12Mike Minogue:Yes. So they live edit it so that they don't have to have an editor and then they'll just tidy it up later. That is f***ing. Jax just shrugged his shoulders. I don't know. I don't know what they do with it.
59:21Keyzie:That's what you were just saying. Well, yeah, but I don't know anything about the editing process. You could hear the exact point at which Jace's knowledge ran out, and that was the very first moment where you asked a vague question. Yeah. And Jace's response was just like, yes.
59:39Mike Minogue:Because I was literally just taking what you had said and put it into a question. Yeah, you were like, yes.
59:46Keyzie:This is how I view it. I've done my job. What they do beyond that is over to them. You know what I'm saying? That's good stuff. Mogi, what's your plans for the weekend? Well, mate, I've got a little bit on. You'll be surprised by this, Kesey. A little bit of work. Oh, sweet. A little bit of work, but also the cricket tomorrow. Commentating the cricket, the dead rubber. How fun. Coming out of Wellington there with the ACC. So looking forward to that. Of course, I am really looking forward to the Tonga v. Kiwis game, which is happening, I believe, in Auckland on Sunday afternoon. And, yeah, I'm looking forward to this weekend, man.
1:00:24Yeah, nice. It's going to be a bloody beauty.
1:00:25Mike Minogue:What about you, Keezy? Having a quiet one at home with the missus this weekend. Oh, that's right, yes. Tonight, though, after the show, we're going to go get some takeaways and go have a picnic. A picnic. Jase, what are you up to, man, this weekend? A picnic. Hang with my wife.
1:00:45Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Cool, yeah, anything else? The new dad's house. And then I've got a... Do you wear his pyjamas while he's away? Yes, I do. And I've got to learn lines over the weekend. Oh, you do, yeah. That's going to be... I've just been sent the schedule for filming, and it's like, oh, I'd better get on with it.
1:01:06Mike Minogue:Speaking of...
1:01:08Keyzie:What?
1:01:08Mike Minogue:I'm going to wrap up.
1:01:10Keyzie:Oh, yeah, okay. I'm not going to learn them right now, though, Keasy.
1:01:12Mike Minogue:No, have a good weekend and all that. See you Monday, 4pm. Okay. Bye. Thank you.
