In short
The Hauraki Big Show “Mogey’s Oasis Special” (Aug 15, 2025) mixes banter and segments: shout-outs and Reburger promos; a “food poisoning or just being hungover?” story; Hire-a-Hubby franchise/house-fix giveaways; TAB Big Bet; Warriors/Wahs and All Blacks/Argentina/UFC sports chat; TV recommendations; Friday Throbber (Europe-themed song voting); Beervana trip giveaway and brewery-of-the-day; then Mogey’s live-Oasis reunion-tour nostalgia with live tracks and crowd stories.
Guests (on-air)
No external guests; hosts only: Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, Keezy (plus “Dilly” as the TAB betting expert and “Bob” as a logistics manager called into the TAB segment). Mogey is the main storyteller.
Key claims
Mogey insists his 4:30am “double evacuation” was real food poisoning after a spicy chicken burger from a competing drive-through; consensus is split 50/50. Oasis reunion shows were “lottery” ticketing across UK cities; live tracks sound better than album versions. Warriors are “garbage at home,” but bench experience may help.
Notable examples
“Bulls on Parade” tied to Spain’s Running of the Bulls; Oasis Wembley crowd turning to face the back; Lars Ulrich praising Oasis; Beervana live show at Parrot Dog (Lyall Bay); Hire-a-Hubby examples: fence replacement, interior painting, bathroom roof waterproofing and possible skylight.

With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad boss. It's great to have your company on this glorious Friday afternoon. It's the 15th of August, 2025. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options too. Reburger, redefining the norm.
0:34Jase:Reburger.
0:38Jase:G'day, Moggy, you stud. G'day, sicko. How's it going? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Yourself? You're looking bloody grouse today. Can I say that, man? Oh, that's great. I don't know if you've just got the Friday glow or what's going on exactly, but there's something about you, man. I've got to tell you, I would. I tell you what, man, on a day like this, beautiful sunny day, A spring's on the way. The birds are singing. What's not to be happy about, Mogi? That's so true, man. Maybe the three months of rain we've got left, but other than that... Oh, yeah, there'll be three months of rain, of course.
1:05Keezy. Hello. How are you, man? Yeah. Yeah, okay. I thought so. Yeah. What do you mean? You had a good night last night? Yeah. Yeah. Nah, I'm good, fellas. Just joking around. I'm in good spirits. Happy and healthy.
1:20Jase:Yeah, because you sound a little bit nasally. Really? You're running a little bit of stubble. Right. And from the sounds of things, you had something of a mozza last night out on the hammer. Well, I didn't have a mozza. I had a mozza this morning, and I'll tell you about that shortly. But no, last night was good as gold, man. It was bloody great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just a little impromptu, you know. You've got a sort of greenish hue about you, but I'm sure you're fine, man. Hey, now listen, it's a Friday, so frown out shy days. If you've got any, send them in on 3483. That's right. Those are shout-outs, by the way.
1:54every single one that comes through in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. Here's ACDC. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Weezer there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show. This beautiful Friday afternoon, I believe. We've got a couple of shout-outs there, Keezy, on 3483. That's right. It's Frat Out Shire Day. So if you do have any shout-outs, text them through. Get yourself in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. Shout-out to Matt for fixing my mighty Toyota Starlitz windscreen. What a backbone. Yeah. Frat Out. How good? How good to style it? Frout out to Felix Fardybun-Pierce, who just got engaged.
2:31Massive backbone. Frout out, motherfucker. Good stuff, man. Keep them coming on 3483. So good. Hey, fellas, last night I went out for dinner. Well, I don't know if I actually had any dinner now that I think about it. Yeah, dinner. Yeah, I went out for a few quiet ones with a former member of the Hodaki team, the Pants Man. He's back in town from Aussie. A group of us went in over the road there after the show, had a few beers, you know. One thing led to another. Oh, right, you made love.
3:00Jase:Congratulations, man. That is so good. Chase, you owe me 50 bucks. I know. I told you he was inclined that way. And there's nothing wrong with that, by the way, Keezy. Kia kaha, man. Well, there is something wrong with that because I'm married and that would be cheating. Wow. Is it, though, because it's the same sex? Oh, that's actually good to know. Yeah, yeah. You're good as gold. Yeah, nah, so I didn't bang the pants, man. And what we did, though, was just, yeah. What, like passing and stuff? Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is where I wanted this break today. Was there any sort of dry humping? No, nothing dry about it, Chase.
3:33Oh, okay. Anyway. Yes. At about 1am, I was in the back of a Toyota Prius. Oh, yeah. Not with the pants man, Moogie. Went through a drive-through of a competing burger. Well, it's not even competing with Reeburger, to be honest. It's fast food. Nothing can compete with it. Yeah, compared to Reburger, not very good. But went through the drive-through there, ordered a spicy chicken burger, ate it when I got home, and then woke up at 4.30 a.m. with what I can only describe as food poisoning of the horrific kind. Food poisoning? Well, this is the dilemma, right? Because I woke up, I was like, holy cow, ran to the bathroom, had like a double evacuation, that's all I'll say, but it was like upstairs and downstairs.
4:19and I was like, this is crazy. It must have been that bit because it had a weird texture. The chicken fillet had a weird texture. Right, okay. And then I went back into the room, had a quick shower just in case, and then went back into the room and my wife was like, are you all good? And I was like, yeah, I had food poisoning. She's like, oh, real food poisoning, was it? Yeah, it's a tough sell. And so this is the issue is I did get food poisoning, but no one freaking believes me. They're just like, you were happy. Well, can I ask, when you arrived home, did you immediately go into the room with your burger and lie next to your wife and start eating it like you normally do?
4:49Because she loves that. What I actually did was, and she was furious, is I went into the room and, like, tapped her on the shoulder. I was like, hey, do you want any chippies? And she was like, no, thanks. So I did that, and then this morning she's like, can you not wake me up with chips? Yeah. I just didn't want her to miss out. Unless they're Reburger chips, obviously. Yeah, Reburger, obviously. That would be worth it. Chips. Chips. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I genuinely had food poisoning because I don't just do a double evacuation after a night on the bed. That's never happened. But no one believes me.
5:20Jase:How long did your food poisoning last for? It's very rapid. Yeah. Because generally that'll last for, you know, 24 hours or so. At least. No, I think it was not like a full-blown poisoning where you're like out. Yeah, sort of like a hangover. Yeah, like a sort of alcohol-induced nausea. What I think it was is my body detected that there was something in my stomach that could cause it. Yeah, 23 beers. Yeah, I was going to say 50 litres of alcohol perhaps. Great, so you don't believe me either. Well, it's impossible to know, Keezy. Well, let's put it to the people on 3483. Do you believe, Keezy?
5:55Was it food poisoning or was he off his head? I didn't bang the pants man, by the way. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Audio slave there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this Friday afternoon. What's the consensus, Keezy, on 3483? Were you food poisoned or steamed? What's the vibe on 3483? Well, let me just say it's split 50-50, Jase. For example, I've pulled a Keezy before and tried to blame too much beer on food. He's in denial. You know what I mean? So that's one way. That makes sense. Then this one here, this backbone here, totally food poisoning.
6:39I never do a double evacuation if I'm sick from drinking. So, you know, it could go either way. I maintain it was food poisoning and nothing to do with the beers I had last week. I like this one here.
6:49Jase:If you have to go into great detail to explain yourself, it's usually bullshit. Correct. Usually. Hey, now listen up, great news. The good bastards that hire a hubby are back in town, fellas. That's right. They are looking for new franchisees as well. So if you consider yourself handy and you'd like to be involved with them, make sure you reach out. Basically, earlier in the year, we gave away the chance for the big show to come around to your house, along with some of the hire a hubby team, and fix up some stuff. All you had to do was go to hodaki.co.nz, tell us what you needed work done on, and then you were in the draw.
7:25We're doing it again. We've had some people come through with what they need done, fellas. Yeah, what have we got there, Keezy? Sammy from Waikato, back fence has already half fallen over once. Once the posts are rotting and have split in places from being so old, I need to replace it, but it has been in the too hard basket for ages. Yeah. This would be amazing. What do you reckon? Sorry, I was momentarily distracted there. What? I'm not reading that whole thing again.
7:51Jase:Yeah, no, that's a good one. That does sound like a pain in the ass. I couldn't be bothered replacing a fence. I'm constantly having to redo my retaining wall, and that's bad enough. Yeah, right. Do you reckon that's something we could do? Oh, totally, man. I could whack that up. What kind of wood would you use? Good wood. Not rotten. Yeah, it's lying. It hasn't worked for them. They've tried rotten before and the fence has fallen down. I don't think they built it with rotten. I'd go treated for a start, Kesey. Treated wood? Yeah, treated good. Take it out for dinner. Cool. Okay, so Sammy's in the drawer.
8:19Don't get food poisoning, though. What do you mean? Taking it out for dinner. The fence. Carlo from Lower Hutt. The inside of our house needs a lick of paint. Bedrooms, lounge, hallway, kitchen, et cetera. Me and the wife have no time to get it done.
8:35Jase:You had time to write that email. Yeah, but that's like two sentences. It's a lot of work there, painting the entire inside of a house. I don't know if I can. I don't know if we cover the whole house, would we? Yeah, well, just be. We'll do the front door. Whatever we can. The letterbox. Yeah, I'll work on the back door. Or the lounge or something like that, maybe. But, hey, the higher hubby people will be there too, so they'll be helping. Oh, that's true, that's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What about this one here? Jordan from Hamilton. The roof in my bathroom is peeling. it needs a good sand and a recote with waterproof paint.
9:05We could also install like an extractor fan or something there to help stop that. Well, I'm assuming they already have one even though it's peeling. Why would you assume that? Well, because most places do. They do. And if they didn't, he'd say I'd need a fan put in as well. Oh, you reckon?
9:22Jase:What about one of those, you know, you put the light thingy in the roof? Oh, Skylight. Skylight, that's the bar. Like an open one? Yeah, just an open one. Yeah, we can do that. That'd be good because then if you had that skylight and you had your shower cubicle and it goes all the way up to the ceiling and then you've got a skylight that goes all the way and it opens up into the night air. That would actually be cool. So all the steam goes out and if it rains, you get a nice little shower while you're having a shower. That would actually be really cool. I love the sound of that. I'm keen on that.
9:54Jase:Just make a note of that. Yeah, I'll write that down. It's a cool thing for mogi's dream. hodaki.co.nz Enter now if you need some work done. Tell us about it. We'll be coming around and hopefully helping you. That's all thanks to Hire a Hubby. If you need a hand around the house, call... Sorry? A hand around the house. If you need a hand around the house, call the property problem solvers. Hire a hubby. Good stuff, Keezy. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. You two there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show. this Friday afternoon, but right now it's time for... It's the Hurray Game Big Show Big Bet with the TAB.
10:37Yeah, great stuff. We've teamed up the TAB to run the Big Show Big Bet. We've got a$100 bonus bet to give away. You just have to choose which one of the two bonus bets you want. And we've got old Big Dilly from the office in here. He is the betting expert. G'day, Dilly. G'day, fellas. How are we? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Really, really great, man. Really good. G'day, Bob, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, great, boys. How are you guys? Yeah. Good, Bob, man. Thanks, mate. How's Wally today? It is picturesque as normal. Oh, yeah. Good on you, backbone. Hang on. Wait, wait, wait. Bob, what do you do for a crust?
11:12Logistics manager. You sure? Basically means I pick up a lot of boxes and drive a forklift. Oh, yeah. Good on you, man. Massive backbone. All right, Dilly. Hit Bob with his two opportunities here. Right, Bob, your first choice, mate. We've got the All Blacks taking on Argentina on Sunday morning. So your first bet will be Will Jordan anytime try scorer. That's paying$1.73. Your second option, we've got Nottingham Forest versus Brentford on the Monday morning. So Chris Wood to score the first goal, which is paying at$5.75. So which one of those would you like, Bob? I'd have to go with Will Jordan, the scorer, try at any time.
11:54Bloody ripper. Yeah, that's pretty sensible, actually, Bob. Well done, mate. Yeah, we'll lock that in for you. Thank you very much, Bob. Thank you very much, Dilly. Don't forget, download the TAB app to get your bet on with all your favourite sports and always R18 bet responsibly. Should we chat some Waz there, Moogie? Because you're going to the Waz tonight, aren't you? Going to the Waz tonight, yeah.
12:12Jase:I managed to get myself involved in that. It'll be my first game of the season. I'll be completely honest with you. I don't actually like going to the stadium for no other reason. I find it easy to get there. I find it easy to get in. I think it's awesome. but I just prefer to scream at the TV in the privacy of my own home. Same, I love doing that. F and Jeff, yeah, that's right. So, yeah, it's a big game, isn't it? I mean, St. George, I don't think of one here since 2013 or 2011. Our most recent stats, I think we're 3-1 against them, but we have got a litany of injuries. We have been absolutely saddled with some real front-line injuries.
12:49Jase:I don't know if we can do it. I'm glad that it's a sunny evening, but this home ground advantage does not exist for the Warriors. We are garbage at home. We're better when we play overseas. I don't know why. We sell out every game. Yeah, because the crowd loves it. The crowd loves it but we hate playing in front of our own crowd. I don't know what it is. So for me, it's an absolute lottery. Obviously, I hope they win but I don't expect them to win with the line-up that they've got. I tell you what, fellas. I've got a feeling they're going to stop the rot today. Oh, sure. Based on what? Based on the fact you haven't been watching any games?
13:21Jase:Just the vibe I'm getting and shout my body. To be honest, Mo, I'm feeling a bit more positive about the game than you are. Although I do, the thing that jumps out, and we've discussed this off air, was our bench, Sam Healy, Eddie Iremia, Toyava, Dmitryk Vymonga, and Tannis Stowers-Smith. Between them, they have about 20 games worth of experience. That's right. Which makes me think we're going to need. Young and keen. Yeah, but you don't want four young and keenies off the bench. It makes me think that our starters are going to have to put in a huge shift. Yes. So your Jackson Fords, your new courtiers, and Aaron Clark, guys like that are going to have to play more minutes, I think.
13:56Jase:Well, Aaron plays 80 anyway, doesn't he? But, yeah, you're absolutely right. It'll be – does he not? Nah, he doesn't. Sometimes he does. Yeah, sometimes he does. He can. That's the thing. Yeah, he's got the engine for him. Sorry I tuned out there. Who? Oh, we were just talking about your vibe that you had for the game tonight. Oh, right, okay. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How good. My prediction is was 12 under. Your prediction? My heart is telling me we're going to lose 12 under. Right, okay. That's my heart telling me that. My brain is saying we're going to lose 13 plus. Oh, what? I'm saying Warriors 13 plus.
14:32Kill man. He's blondie. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Pearl Jam there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. but right now it's time for What's on the Telly with Mike Minogue.
14:54Yes.
15:02Jase:Nice. Hey fellas, when I was on the play, oh actually no, no, no. No, no. Last night I watched an episode of Grand Design. Are you serious? Grand Design. Really? Well, because the night before I'd watched A Place in the Sun, which you guys have been banging on forever. Jace has been banging on about. And it is one of the worst shows I've ever seen in my life. People that want to buy sort of the worst house on earth, from what I can tell, but not bad enough to be entertaining. Just, well, what do you think about this? It's not really what we had in mind. All right, we'll go and look at the next one.
15:39Jase:Just absolute, the most media, I can't believe it's a show. It's like it's a joke. It's like a piss state of an actual show. Well, I think it's because it's in places like Spain and stuff, and it appeals to people's fantasies, you know, of living in a place like that. They don't show any of the nice places. Sometimes they do. The one episode I watched, they were down at the beach. I actually don't like the beach. I don't like getting the sun done, man. I'm one of those people, you see me down on the beach, I won't be standing on the sun. I don't like it. It's like mint. I tell you what I really love is when they're standing on the beach and they're like, we want somewhere close to the beach.
16:13And they're like, well, let me just say the next place we're going to look at is only a 45-minute car drive from here.
16:20Jase:That's right. You said you can't believe it's a TV show. Not only is it a TV show, it's had about a million seasons. And what's unbelievable, also, because it's so cheap, right? Yes. But also it takes, it's an hour long. What I saw, there's not enough to fill a minute. It was horrendous. Anyway, but I did watch, last night I watched, so I'm done with A Place in the Sun. So last night we watched Grand Designs New Zealand. And it's quite interesting, actually, for a number of reasons. The first one was on Waiheke Island, and I'd lived there before, so I was interested in that. Then I was watching it, I was like, I know this guy.
16:56Jase:I went to a couple of stag dudes with this guy about 20 years ago. So he's a real, he's presented himself a certain way. I know he's not like that. For the TV. Yeah, he's a hilarious guy. I'm sure he's sorted his ways out in the last 20 or so years. But he was building a house. They had a budget of$3 million, and it blew out to$5.5 million. Yeah, how good. It was good stuff. What I really enjoyed about it was the host being the most negative guy in the world, going, oh, well, they think it's going to go well, but are they really going to enjoy this house? And just every time you saw him, he was just trying to cut the legs out from under them, saying, oh, you know, are they really going to like this place?
17:38Jase:and it was a weird, I don't know if he's like that in every episode, I've watched the one, but I guess he's, I know he's trying to create drama and what's going to happen. He's trying to be devil's advocate, but it was pretty full on, but very entertaining. I love that kind of, you know, it's a voyeuristic sort of a thing, isn't it? Yes. So I'll be watching more of that. Oh wow, good. You can see how my wife and I, we can't think of anything. And that's what I was just going to say. It's like for me, we've been doing Seinfeld. We've got about five episodes left of all nine seasons of Seinfeld and then you'll be happy to know, Jase, that'll be done.
18:08Jase:Thank God. And then I'm going to be on to Grand Designs. Me and Keezy double teaming you. Oh, good, man. Me and Moogie double teaming you. Hey, and check out middle-aged Upper House Bogan. Oh, my God. This reference is a month old. Was it – just quickly, what season was it? Because the first season – The most recent. Yeah, great. Because the first season has this other fella doing it who's not as good. It took them like three or four years to build this bastard. You're joking. Three or four years. COVID came along. COVID, the big rains, steep hill. Yeah. You name it. every sort of nightmare. Oh, shocking.
18:38Congrats. That is the formula for every episode. Yeah, great. It's so good. Love it. TVNZ Plus. How many pussies?
18:44Jase:Oh. Three. Yeah, three out of five. That's a good three. Three and a half, I'd give that. Yeah. Placing the sun gets nothing. June is in excess. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Yes, indeed, in excess there on the radio. The Ohodaki Big Show this Friday afternoon. What a cracking evening feels, man. It is beautiful, isn't it? Really beautiful. Now, speaking of beautiful, coming up after five, of course, on a Friday, the Friday Throbber. Oh, of course. Wow. Of course. The Friday Throbber. Today's theme is Europe because I don't know if you know this, but Mogi and I recently got back from a trip to Europe.
Read the full transcript
19:24You were joking. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, after five, Mogi's got an Oasis live extravaganza lined up for us. Yeah, I do.
19:31Jase:I've been listening to some live tracks that have been released from their tour, their most recent tour. So we're going to be playing some of those and a couple of other things as well. It's actually made me nostalgic already for that trip. Brilliant. And hearing these tracks back has reminded me what an absolutely unbelievable experience it was. And to travel to the other side of the world to do it, which was sort of a – Extreme? Pretty full on. Yes. Just completely worth it. So going to play these songs for you, and I think you'll like it. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
20:17It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. You're welcome back, you massive backbones. Yes, the theme is Europe. Why is that, Jase? Because the fellas just got back from there, eh, fellas? Yeah. You're so good. God, I really must get out there. No, you simply must. I simply must, yes. Yeah, that's right. This is why I can't even do it. You know what I'm saying? The Friday Throbber, by the way, we each pick a tune that fits a theme. You then vote by calling on 0800 Hodaki. Yes. Whoever's won gets voted twice, gets played in full, and they get a score on the scoreboard there. And at the end of the year, the winner gets something.
20:57I don't know what it is. Okay, got it. Well, the QDOS. The QDOS. Oh, yeah, yeah. And also, I think we'll do a Throbber special where the winner gets all of their Throbbers played out, maybe. How good. Yeah, yeah. Who wants to go first?
21:06Jase:That's good stuff. I'll go first. This is a Spain-related one. Oh, no. Keezy's got the same one. We'll win it now.
21:21We'll win it now.
21:27Jase:A bit of Bulls on Parade there from Rage Against the Machine. And that's related to the... Running of the Bulls. The running of the Bulls. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What did you choose there, Jase? I chose Bedlam in Belgium. Oh, that's nice. I like the irony because there's no Bedlam in the song at all.
21:49Jase:Nice.
21:57Jase:That ACDC feels. That is a tune, actually. That's unmistakable, isn't it? I've actually never heard that song. No, sounds like the other ones. Yeah. Well, look, I'm going to be honest, ACDC, they all sound the same to me. Yeah, which is good, though. Which is good stuff. They all sound good. I chose this, which is a song about a city in Italy. When I saw you in Verona You said that I moved over Do-do-do-sh Pretty penis Shut up! Dave-do-do-sh Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do It's Verona by LMNOP. Yeah, but the guy, the lead singer is Dave Gibson, isn't it? Is that right? He looks exactly like Matt Heath.
22:38Jase:He does. Dave Gibbo Gibson. Oh, Gibbo, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Very odd. Slightly more worn, I would say. Oh, really? Yeah, just a little bit. Oh, yeah? But in a good way, you know what I mean? Oh, yeah. He's grown into his face. Hey, give us a call now on 0800 Hauraki, by the way. Which one would you like to hear played in full? Doos, doos. June. The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday throbber. Sure is. The theme? Europe. That's right. Mogi, you were first, eh, man? This is my one, man.
23:28That is Bulls on Parade, which is about the running of the bulls in Spain. Yeah. Pablona. I went for a bit of Bedlam in Belgium, ACDC.
23:52That's a tune. That's how you do it. Yeah, man. I went for Verona by LMNOP. Sorry, why are we laughing? The way you said it, it was like, oh, we're Verona. It's like you've already given up, Keyeson. No, I love LMNOP. When I saw you in Verona You sat down, I moved over Pretty people, but all I saw was you I didn't actually realise Verona was a city in Italy. So it's exciting. G'day, Rick, you mad bastard. How's life? Well, it's my second Friday calling in to represent you, Jason. Oh, yes. What a thrower. And it's a two-pronged decision on my part. I was devastated to hear about the Asian caving tragedy they were going on about yesterday, and I thought I'd give you the sympathy vote.
24:42Yeah, good on you, mate. He'll take a sympathy vote. I'll take whatever you've got, man. Who have we got there? I can't read that. Chris. G'day, Chris, your backbone. How's life? How are you? Yeah, good, mate, good. What are you running with? I'm going to go with Mogi, I think. Yeah, I thought so, man. I knew that as soon as I heard his voice. Yeah, of course you did. G'day, Hayden, your backbone. How's life? Oh, hi, guys. I'm a bit tired. Okay, yeah, well, good news, it's Friday, man. Yeah, two beers. Yeah, good on you, mate. What are you running with there, Hayden? I'm going for keys. No, this is a three-way tie, fellas.
25:16Jase:Here we go, then, Andrew, you mad bastard. You get to decide. What are you running with? A mogey. Yeah, nice. A mogey all yours, boy. Ah, damn it. Hey, in the great news, you've won as the tiebreaker the latest Black Keys album. That's absolutely right. Available on vinyl is the latest album there from the Black Keys. I think it's their 43rd studio album. It's their 13th studio album, No Rain, No Flowers, featuring their latest single, No Rain, No Flowers, which is the title track of the album. That's all yours, mate. Thanks for calling, Andrew. Good on you, boys. Love your work. Thanks, mate.
25:56Massive backbone. So who won? I missed it. Oh, Mogi. Oh, Mogi. He stormed away with it. What was the name of the band?
26:02Jase:I can't remember, man. There's a tune. I love this tune. Oh, it's a tune. What, you're happy Mogi 1, are you? Oh, I was belting this in the car the other day. I was belting it out. Yeah, man. It's got me fired up. Guys, you're talking over the riff. Rage Against Machine. The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keezy. Oh, rage. I'm pumped up. I'm fired up, fattles. That's good, man. I'm fired up. It's the throbber there, Mogey coming in with the big W. The theme was Europe. Just looking at the throbber scoreboard for 2025. Now, it's interesting because while we're away, you guys kept doing the throbber.
26:44Is that right, Jase? Yeah, we did, yes. Yeah, okay. So the scoreboard now in last place on one is Dilly. Yeah. And second to last on four is Pugs.
26:53Jase:That's pretty good. Third to last, middle of the pack. Keezy on six with two asterisks. Or as I like to call it, last. Well, that's the thing, right? There's so many people on the scoreboard now, it's very confusing. And then you've got Mogi is now on eight in second place, and then Hoity J. Wow, you're kind of tied with Mogi, to be honest, because you're on nine but with an asterisk. Good stuff. That's good stuff. Yeah, yeah, great. Tight race, fellas. Anything could happen by the end of the year. Imagine if I won it. That would be weird. You haven't won it yet, eh? That would be really weird if I won it.
27:26Yeah, it would be a piss take from the listeners, though. It would be. Yeah, they'd be doing it. Really good piss take. Yeah. Coming up next, by the way, if you entered the VIB Bear Vana competition to win flights, accommodation, and VIB passes for you and a mate to Bear Vana next weekend in Wellington, make sure you've got your phone on. We will be calling the winner. Then after that, Mogi's Oasis Extravaganza. You thought Rage was a journey? There's a bit of Tom Petty for you. The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keezy. Green day there on the radio. Hodaki, big show this Friday evening.
28:03Fellas, are we looking forward to Bear Vana?
28:05Jase:I am absolutely thrilled about Bear Vana coming up. On the Friday and Saturday next week, we'll be down there, fellas. In all our pomp and glory. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wellington, the Thursday, we'll be going down there, of course, to have a live show at Parrot Dog, the brewery in Lyle Bay. So if you're in the Wellington area, 4 till 7, and probably March later, after 7 as well, make sure you do come on down. But, fellas, we've actually been giving away a VIB trip to Beervana. Yeah, how good. Which is flights, accommodation, and basically the VIB treatment when it comes to the actual event itself.
28:39Right. People have been getting themselves in the draw. Time to call a winner? Yeah, I think so. Yes. I love that sort of stuff. Let's give it away, Keezy. All right, I've got his number in there. Hopefully they answer. Oh, what happened? Oh, God. Not one of these debacles, is it? No, no, no. I hate it when that happens. I forgot to dial out there, fellas. It's my bad. You're having a shocker. What do you mean I'm having a shocker?
29:05Jase:Yeah, I would say that. It's actually a good description, Jason. Really? Yeah, thanks, man. An absolute mozart. Wow, hang on. It's working now, isn't it?
29:14The anticipation. Hello. Yeah, is that Matthew, is it? Yeah, it is. Yeah, g'day, Matthew. It's old hoody Jay Mogey and old Keezy from the Big Show. How are you going, Stallion? Oh, g'day, boys. I'm bloody good. Are you fizzing, boy? Are you frothing? Oh, I am now. Yeah, good, good. Tell me, what are you doing right now, Matthew, this beautiful Friday afternoon? Well, it sounds like I'm going to have some beers soon. Yeah, that's always good, mate. I want to get ahead of myself, mate. Hey, Matt, real quick question, man. I'm just curious. What do you do for a crust? Thank you. A weld. Oh, backbone.
29:53That's a massive backbone.
29:53Jase:So what are we talking, man? Are we talking TIG or MIG? Oh, a bit of MIG. Yeah, a bit of MIG. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I prefer MIG as well. I learned that off Keezy a few years ago. I still don't know what it means. Yeah, neither, to be honest. But is there anything more backbone than welding, though? I don't know that there is. Maybe a radio host? Oh, yeah, obviously. I reckon welding, and then when you finish welding, you jump on a plane and you go to Bear Vanna, you goddamn backbone. own. Oh, man. I'm going to get on the beers now. Yeah, good on you, mate. Hey, tell me, Matt, who are you going to take with you?
30:28Well, I'll let my friend's buddy compete. Yeah, good. Really? Yeah. So he's a better friend. Yeah, how are you, mate? The highest bidder. Yeah. Good on you, mate. Will you stay on the line and I'll Pugs Island Studio. B will sort you out with that trap. Just quickly, just letting you know, man, you've got flights, accommodation, VIP access to beer Varner itself, man. How good. That is brilliant.
30:49Jase:And can I ask a question here, Kesey? Is old mate going to be here? Is he going to be there for the live show down at Parrot Dog at Lyle Bay on the Thursday night? Is that what's going on? I don't know. I bloody hope so. We're going to have a look at your flight, Taman, and make sure we get you there for the live show on the Thursday because it is going to be absolutely going off. You make sure you bring your drinking pants, buddy, because you're going to need them. Will do. Get on you, mate. I think she's pretty booked, Mogi, to be honest. She booked up. I mean, it'd be really embarrassing to get him down there early and he can't get in, you know what I mean?
31:15Yeah, yeah, yeah. to the gunners. You're talking about the live show. Yeah, the live show. Lyle Bailey. And if you do bring your drinking pants down, just make sure you put your responsible undies on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's great stuff, Gizzy. Big shout out to Bear Varner, by the way. Still tickets available at bearvana.co.nz. You can explore over 300 out-of-this-world beer creations from over 60 breweries plus mouth-watering food options, unique entertainment, and plenty of activities for breaks between the brews. Whether you're a seasoned beer geek or just beer curious, Bear Varner has something for everyone.
31:45Fellas? Great stuff. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey. The Blankies there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Friday afternoon. The time is 5.36. G'day there, fellas. G'day, Mogi.
32:01Jase:So as you know, I went to Europe pretty recently. You're joking. Yeah, I did. And had a lovely time. Went to Spain, which was great. But the main reason for the trip was so that I could go and see Oasis. Yes. on their reunion tour. And it was something that me and a mate of mine, Carter, have been talking about since they pretty much broke up. We said, if they ever get back together, we're going to go and see them. We're going to go and see them. And fortunately, my friend Carter, when the tickets went on sale, he ran four different laptops so that he could ensure that he would be able to get those tickets.
32:34Jase:Yes. Thank God he did, and we went. And it was just like you just, it was a complete lottery. You were lucky to get any kind of ticket that you could. you just went in and whether you ended up going to Manchester or Cardiff or Edinburgh or Wembley. I didn't realise that. That was literally how you went in. You didn't get to choose where you were going to go and go, oh, I might stand there or a seat there. It was literally good luck. And there was something about 1.7 million or 2 million people tried to get tickets, something like that. Crazy. Absolutely insane. I've never seen the algorithm taken over in the way that it was.
33:04Jase:But anyway, we got the tickets and we went. And it was an absolutely incredible gig. And today they've started releasing a few live tracks from that tour. And so I was listening to it today and it actually made me nostalgic already. And I was pretty emotional about it because you're there in the moment, you're at the gig, but hearing it back and hearing the reaction of the crowd, it's just a reminder of how big this thing was. I'm so grateful that I went, but also just how important live music is. And I think any chance that you get to go along and see any band ever, This was a good reminder. This is what I was like when I was a kid.
33:41Jase:Go to every single gig that you can because sometimes they can be magical. Sometimes they can be shit. Yes. But sometimes they can be magical. So we've got three live Oasis tracks to play for you now. And this one here, you would have probably seen it across social media. Liam Gallagher gets the whole crowd to turn around, face the back. Everybody faces the back of the stadium. And when I say everybody, everybody. 90 ,000 people do it. The music starts. Everybody's jumping up and down for about the first 10 or 15 seconds. and then cigarettes and alcohol kicks off and the whole place just goes insane.
34:12Jase:This is the first track. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. Dude, cigs and alcohol there. Good shit in it, man. Good shit. Fucking good shit. He liked it. He liked it, didn't he? Well, why wouldn't you? You can't go wrong with cigs and alcohol. Exactly. And I guess the other great thing about going outside of going to Oasis was seeing them at Wembley. Yes. We were sort of growing up watching some of the best concert films of all time. My favorite's Live Aid, Queen, Muse has done a wicked one there as well. And there's something about seeing Oasis in front of those British working class fans. Yeah, it was unreal.
34:49Jase:90 ,000 people there, every single person on their feet, every single person singing every single lyric of every single song. And amongst those fans was Lars Ulrich from Metallica. Awesome. Let's have a listen to what he reckoned about it. You went to Oasis. We went to Oasis. Yes, we did. I was actually also at the first show in Cardiff a month ago. And so this was my second show here at Wembley two nights ago. And even as awesome and as next level as it was in Cardiff a month ago, which was like the first show in 15 years, it was even better at Wembley a couple of days ago. Lars, I didn't know you were an Oasis fan, you know, I never know with you.
35:29Yeah, you know, the biggest, the biggest Oasis fan since day one in the early 90s. and it's a whole other thing to see them on their home field. I mean, it's like a cultural event. It's like a football match, you know, like an English football match where everybody's rooting for the same team. It's truly an otherworldly phenomenon to see these guys in the UK, especially now after being gone for 15 years. That's put a big smile on my face this summer. The Hauraki Big Show With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey Little by little there Oasis on the radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon I've got to be honest with you Moggy They sound way better than I was anticipating they would
36:15Jase:And that's kind of the thing about it Is they sound better live than they do on the albums There was tracks that were played there Which I was like I actually don't like this song Like from the albums Yes. But listening to it there, it's a completely different thing. And the way the crowd responds to it is a completely different thing. For those of you just tuning in, this is a walk down memory lane with Mogey and Oasis from going to see Wembley a couple of weeks ago. But, yeah, just an unbelievable experience. And I think it's taken me a couple of weeks. And just listening to these live tracks, which have just been released from this recent tour, and sort of coming out the back of jet lag and being crook and still sounding crook.
36:56Jase:But, Jesus, it was unbelievable. and I think I sort of get a little bit away from the fact of just how much I love music. I think weirdly with radio you get a little bit immune to it and you stop hearing the music for a while but getting along to these gigs, just go into as many as you possibly can because music absolutely rules and that's kind of, there's no way that you can replace that live experience and being with other people at live gigs by sitting on your phone at home and watching video clips or any of that bullshit or even watching the concerts on TV. So my advice is just get along. I did see, though, speaking of sitting on your phone and watching clips, this kid here, 14 years old, who talked to his mate about Oasis.
37:41Jase:None of his mates wanted to go to it. And this kid worked 12-hour days and two jobs to save the money to go and see Oasis. Oasis had broken up before he was even born, and yet somehow this music still manages to connect. So listen to this kid. go and see every gig you can and then we're into Slide Away So I bought a ticket last year all my mates said nah I'm not going I'm not going, no one's going I'm by myself, I live two hours from home I thought I'm going me, I'm not missing this I've got here I work 12 hours every day I help out a transit van garage and then I just have a dump for a demolition and I just couldn't miss it So yeah The Hauraki Big Show Podcast How good?
38:27Right away
38:28Jase:Pretty bloody good Pretty bloody good And of course we'll be sending Nathan We've got Nathan going over to Oasis A prize winner Going to see them in Sydney If you can beg, borrow or steal a ticket To get along to Oasis anywhere Do yourself a favour And if not, go and see any other band you can Good on you mate It was spine tingling stuff It reminded me of when I went and saw Billy Joel It's like Billy Joel, man Yeah My first concert was John Farnham, and it just took me straight back to that. The voice. Mine was Dire Straits. Oh. They're pretty good. What a buzzkill.
39:05The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's just going off. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options available. Reburger, redefining the norm. My name's Hoity J, and I have a tiny downstairs. I don't see how that's related. Yeah, I was going to say, Reburger's going to love that. What do you mean? Why did you interrupt me just then and say that? It's really weird. It's like a really weird thing to do. Yeah, so weird. Midway through a sponsor's product.
39:41I mean, it doesn't even make sense. Totally. You know what I'm saying? And your inflection was weird too. Exactly. It's up and down all over the place. Yeah, yeah. That Hoity J hasn't had, you know, 50 million durries. No. You know what I'm saying? What, this guy? My name's Hoity J, and I have a tiny downstairs. That is so weird. It is weird. That's AI, by the way, for anyone listening. AI? Yeah. But he does, though. Have a tiny downstairs. Your word's not mine, man. Hi. Here's Stevie Nicks. The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keezy. Pearl Jam there on the radio. Hauraki, big show this Friday afternoon.
40:22We haven't done this for a while, fellas. A bit of sports chat.
40:30Sport.
40:31Jase:Sport. Sport. Sport. Sport. Well, we've done the wahs tonight, us and George. Go the wahs, up the wahs. Sunday morning. Really excited about this. another test match against the Argentinians. Going to be a good match, I reckon, in their own turf. Hard to beat. Hard to beat. They beat us last year, didn't they? They did. Yeah. So it'll be interesting to see how we go. The last year, of course, was Razor Robertson's first year as coach. It was. And so you would hope that it would be a significant improvement between last year and this. Things should have settled down a bit, and I'm anticipating that we should go pretty good.
41:10Jase:I hope. But I do enjoy it being close. Probably the game I'm more looking forward to would be the Wallabies versus the Springboks, which I imagine is happening around about the same time or a few hours earlier. Well, the good thing about this is traditionally I don't care about games against Argentina. Yes. After last year, man. That's great. And to wake up 9.15. We were joking around yesterday saying it was at 9.15 Saturday morning in order to fool Jace until... Yeah, I was really excited about getting up tomorrow morning and watching that, to be honest. I buggered that up, actually. And let's just remember, too, it's Chekka, isn't it, who's the coach of Argentina.
41:41Chekka? Michael Chekka? Yeah, he was.
41:43Jase:I'm not sure if he still is. I think he still is. He's a bloody good coach. He knows how to get on top of the old All Blacks there. So she's going to be a tight tussle. Oh, yeah. And it's 9.15 Sunday morning. Wake up, have your brekkie and watch the AB. It's not too bad. What other sports on that you guys want to chat about? Well, the other thing that's on is, and just a note that the head coach of Argentina is Philippe Contopomi. Oh, my bad. Yeah, he's moved on. He's old mate. But UFC 319 is on. That's on Sunday, I'd imagine, at the usual time. prelims are normally midday and the card normally starts about two with the main event being around four.
42:19Jase:And it's a pretty garbage card to be completely honest with you but Drikas Duplassi is fighting comes at Chimaev. Sorry? Chimaev has had 14 fights in the UFC is undefeated and everybody has been running from him but Drikas Duplassi has come in and he is willing to fight all comers. He of course beat Adesanya he's beaten Sean Strickland twice He is the champ. So it's going to be, I think, a bloody good fight. I think comes out, we'll probably have it. But I'm really looking forward to it. Outside of that, the rest of the card is not good, which means I can clean my house most of the day on Sunday.
42:56Jase:Yeah, nice. Which will be great because I've moved out of the house on Saturday, so I'll be all day cleaning on Sunday. How good. Can't wait. Hey, actually, you guys should come over for a barbie on the Sunday there. What are you guys up to on the Sunday? I'm actually pretty busy Sunday. A little bit of rugby, watch a rugger and that on the floor. because we won't have the couches or anything. So you just sit on the floor and watch the rugger, have a croissant, and then just straight into the UFC. Kills some time in between. You're still in the windows and that. Fellas. Actually, that's pretty appealing.
43:24What, cleaning Mogey's house? No, no. We're mostly helping the team.
43:27Jase:The way you're focusing on the cleaning, it's the bonding. Yeah, the team effort. Sports, sports, sports. No, I love sports, sports, sports, obviously, but we bond every day. I don't know if we need to do it. Blonde. What? Did I say blonde? We blonde every day. Well, some of us do. Anyway, I'm excited about that. I'm excited about the Waz and I'm excited about the ABs. What's the fighter's name again? It comes out, Chemaev. Is this a show now where we laugh at foreign people's names? Is this what we've become? Yeah, that's not appropriate, Keezy. That's not on, bro. Can you play the racism? Can you play the racism?
44:03Jase:No, that's not what I meant. That is a shocker. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. Friends, Ferdinand there on the radio. Hodaki Big Show this beautiful Friday evening. But right now it's time for... Yeah. We're off to find the brewery of the day. That's right, every single day leading into Beervana, which is happening down in Wellington. Friday next week and the Saturday as well. Tickets at beervana.co.nz. We feature a different brewery from around New Zealand and a few from even Aussie, which I thought was interesting. Yeah. Today, we're heading down to beautiful Sunny Fellas. Wait. To Sunny Fellas.
44:45Jase:Is that the name of the brewery? Beautiful Sunny Fellas. How hot. That's a great name. How hot are Sunny Fellas? Yeah. Keezy, where is this utopian place that you imagine in your mind called Beautiful Sunny Fellas? We're heading down to beautiful Sunny Nelson, fellas. All right, okay. Yeah, good stuff. The name of the brewery is Sprig and Fern. Oh, yeah. Very nice. goes around the joint, actually. Oh, really? The Sprig and Fern? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, right. Tracy Banner, she's the one that runs it. The passionate Sprig and Fern team brewing magic just minutes from Nelson City at their beach road spot.
45:20I'm getting the feeling, fellas, and I don't know if you agree with me on this, that you have to be passionate to do this sort of thing. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's like everyone that's doing it is passionate. Yeah. If you're not passionate, don't do it. It's not like the big show where you can show up and you don't care. Yeah, you just get it out, get it done, and piss off again. Exactly, it's different. Every batch at Spriggan Fern is handcrafted with care, earning them serious love from craft beer fans across New Zealand. Try it yourself, Spriggan Fern, at Beer Vana next Friday and Saturday in Wellington, man.
45:51Beautiful. You're good in you, man. It's good stuff, isn't it, fellas?
45:54Jase:Great stuff. Sunny fellas. Beautiful sunny fellas. Can't wait to get down there and see some beautiful sunny fellas. Come on, guys. The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Black Crow's there on the radio. Hodaki, big show this Friday evening. I've got to tell you, fellas, I'm feeling fatigued. I had a terrible sleep last night. If you listened to the podcast outro today, I went out for dinner and ended up having Turkish coffee at the end of the night. Not a good idea for old Hoody Jay. How many hours, man? About three hours. Yeah, right, okay. That's good, Ed. What about you, Mogi?
46:29Jase:I had a bloody good sleep. I woke up at one point for a sip of water. I may have gone to the toilet. Keezy, I don't know. It's not your business, man. And then back to sleep, woke up at 5 to 6. That's pretty good. It was a good sleep. That's a good run. I'm back, baby. So I got home at approximately 1, 1.30 last night, relatively steamed but responsibly steamed. Went to bed, woke up at 5 a.m.-ish with double ejection. Not ejaculation, that would be silly. A double ejection. A double ejaculation? How do you even do that? You're an old pants man. Come on, man. Don't pick this up. This is two hours old.
47:04It is an ejaculation of sorts. I threw up from the top and also threw up from the bottom, if you know what I mean. I maintain it was food poisoning. Now, we've already discussed this at length. However, my wife this morning when she came in, she's like, how are you feeling this morning? Blah, blah, blah. You good. What about you? She's like, yeah, good. I just really gutted because she was having this dream and she's dreamt about her and Moggy hanging out in bed together but just chatting and stuff.
47:29Jase:Yeah, yeah, that's where it starts, man. Let me just say that. Yeah, yeah, quietly. I always start with chatting. Yes, yes Charm them Yeah And then she dreamt about I think Jace Yes For some reason I can't remember what it was It wasn't me dying Oh, it was you dying, yeah I always start with Jace I mean start with chat And then I bring in Jace Oh, right Yeah, cool That's cool Last night she was dreaming It was one of those really lucid, vivid ones That she was chatting to Chris Hemsworth Ooh And they were getting on like a house on fire and he was flirting and stuff and she was genuinely like, they were going to hook up.
48:07Right. Did she know that she was married to you? That's what I said. I was like, were we married in the dream? She's like, yeah, I think we were, but I was doing it anyway. I was like, Jesus. That's the thing. So not only was it like she didn't get to hook up with Carissa Hemsworth, she woke up to her actual husband who was just chundering. And pooing. and pooing in the toilet and she was like, okay, cool.
