In short

The Hauraki Big Show discusses what to keep vs throw out from kids’ school art (a birthday card found in the recycling), “pizza party” rules for their tour crew, and TV/film recommendations. They also promote a sold-out Kiwi Pong event and chat about their limited-edition Big Show vinyl and charts.

Guests

Johnny Brough (comedian; star of Educators, Season 4 on TVNZ+; formerly in the comedy duo Sugar and Spice with Jason Hoyt). He describes meeting Hoyt via a mutual friend, his goth poetry character “Clown of Thorns,” and Educators’ improvisation process. No other guest appears as a named interviewee; Nathan from Dunedin calls in as a kindergarten teacher.

Key claims

School teachers effectively “offload” craft scraps to parents; parents can’t store everything. Pizza parties should happen after certain times depending on town size. Educators is heavily improvised but edited to keep story momentum.

Notable examples

The daughter’s heart-shaped “birthday cake” card thrown out; Nathan’s “gentlemen’s agreement” with parents about what kids take home; Educators Season 4 includes Taika Waititi and Julian Barrett; pizza parties in Dunedin/Taranaki/Tauranga; Kiwi Pong grand prize $10,006 at Sweatshop Brew Kitchen (Nov 29) with two team spots left.

0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. Really big. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie.

0:17Keyzie:Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company this glorious Tuesday afternoon. It is the 11th of November 2025 and you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options are available. Re-beer gear, redefining the norm. Scrum-diddly-umptious. Speaking of which, I talked about it in the podcast outro today, but God, you're looking sharp, Mogey. Cheers, man. You are looking coiffed and just absolutely put together today.

0:50Jase:Not dissimilar to how your helmet runs, although you've got a finer lock that runs further back on the dome. I'm very jealous of your fine head of hair there, hooded jizz. Well, I'm going pretty grouse. Yes. Just another beautiful day here in the city of sales as we make our way into the beauty of true summer. Yeah, man. Feels like it's right on our doorstep, fellas.

1:11Keyzie:It really does, actually, and I'm very excited about it. And Keezy, boy, oh boy, you're looking bloody good too, mate. You've got a new hairdo. You're running a bit of stubble action. I'd take a turn if I was given a choice. Jesus. Good to have you back, Jase. Thanks, mate. Forgotten how good it is. Oh, yeah. Thanks, fellas. Feeling good. Yeah. I'm still operating a little under the weather after a big weekend. You're still not quite a hundy. Just a bit derbrane. Yeah. I was working on a little truckie today, fixing something, and I kept doing real derbrane stuff like leaving a spanner in the kitchen and then went to the bathroom and left a screwdriver and just stuff like that.

1:50Yes. So I just knew that I wasn't operating on all cylinders.

1:53Jase:Well, this is what happens, of course, Jase. You know, Keezy Harry wants to do a couple of days on the booze, and then, of course, you run into three, four-day hangovers. Yes. Just how it goes.

2:03Keyzie:And you're hanging out with Moogie and I, and we do that sort of stuff all the time. Yeah. You know what I mean? Just leaving stuff, taking stuff out to the car, leaving stuff in the car, all that sort of jazz. Last night after the show, I walked to my car, only to discover I didn't have my car keys. Yes. Which is a pain in the heart. It's about a seven-minute walk. It's a tiny walk, but it's irritating. Getting this goddamn to come back again. Mogi, what's coming up on the show today, mate?

2:31Jase:What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi? Another massive day on The Big Show here on your Tuesday. Old Hoity Jizzbot is going to be talking once again vaguely about the film and or television production he's doing. He'll be talking about the transformative magic of make-up, won't you, Jase? Yes, man. We're also going to be talking to, now this is going to be exciting for people, the other half of the comedy duo that was Sugar and Spice. As you all know, Jase was in a comedy duo called Sugar and Spice, and today we're going to be talking to Johnny Brough, who is also the star of The Educators, Season 4, out now on TVNZ+.

3:07Jase:Yeah. And up next, my daughter made a horrifying discovery when she was putting the recycling out over the course of the weekend, and I've got a question for you about it, Jase, you, Keezy, and the listeners out there, it was an absolute mozza. In the meantime, here's Nirvana. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

3:30Keyzie:You two on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time, 14 minutes past four o 'clock.

3:37Jase:Hey, fellas, I was doing a bit of a clean-up over the weekend of the house there, and I got my daughter involved in it as well. Mogi Minogi. The old mogi minogi there. And if you keep a kid busy, man, they're happy as, especially if you can make them feel like they're helping. Yes. Man, they're just overjoyed. That's right, because there's that strategy of, like, getting them to have a responsibility, right? There is that. It's a big deal. Mum used to do that to me. She'd say, oh, can you clean the bathroom for me? You're so good at it. I'd be like, oh, I'm so good at it. Yeah, yeah. Absolute idiot.

4:11Jase:Fall for it every time. So what I did this week, last weekend, bean. I got Mogie Minogi to help me put some recycling out into the recycling bin. I said, put it in the one with the blue lid. Then I got a call. There she was. She was putting it in the one with the red lid. I said, no, no, the one with the blue lid. She started taking everything out. I disappeared. She's taking everything out and put it into the bin. Then I'm in the kitchen I think putting a new rubbish bag in or something like that and she comes in to the kitchen. I could hear her come upstairs. She's saying Dad, Dad. She comes in and she's holding a piece of paper and she said, I found this in the bin.

4:45Jase:I found this in the bit. Now, it was a piece of paper that was cut into the shape of a heart. Right. A lot of hearts when you're a kid, Kesey. Out the top of it was what looked like a stalk. To me, it looked like an apple, but it definitely was, you know, so it had a stalk, the heart shape combined with a stalk made it to me look like it was an apple. Definitely a heart-shaped apple. Right. But an apple nonetheless. And I said, what's that? And she said, it's a card. I made it for you for your birthday oh my goodness and I was like oh hell I don't remember this at all yeah and I was looking at it I said what's it say on it and she said I got all my friends to write their names on it for you oh my goodness that's so nice that's really sweet I'll be honest with you I can't see happy birthday written on here I feel like I have seen this but I didn't realise that it was a birthday thing because obviously that's really special I wouldn't have thrown it out I wouldn't have thrown it out if I knew it was for my birthday Yes, specifically for that.

5:47Jase:I said, you know, just out of interest, what's this thing at the top here? Is that a stalk? Because like a stalk, but on the stalk it had lots of rectangles drawn, and the rectangle that was the closest to the top of the love heart was the biggest, and then they were decreasing in size as they got to the top of the stem. Do you know what I mean? Yes. I said, what are they? She said, that's a cake. That's your birthday cake. It was a multi-layered, like a wedding cake has all the tears to it. On top of the love heart. So she'd drawn, there was a cutout stalk on top, and drawn onto that cutout stalk, which was not a cutout stalk, it was just a piece of paper, was a multi-layered cake.

6:26Jase:It was a birthday cake on top of a heart. It's very confusing. I can see why you binned it. Well, exactly. So she'd made me a love heart with a cake on top of it. And look, I'll be honest with you, you get so much stuff that comes home from schools. Oh, yeah. Reams and reams of paper. And I'd been talking to her early that day, and I was saying to her, Matt, I was like, what's happening? I said, what's this thing? There's another picture with, you know, and it's people who help me. People, and it was a drawing of a whole bunch of different people. I didn't make the cut. But a whole bunch of different people that help her out.

6:59Jase:I said, okay, cool, what are we doing with this? And she goes, well, we're not throwing it out because she knows that's my default. I was like, all good, put it in your room and put it away. Yes. I go into the room an hour later and there's just a pile of that thing that she'd made with 20 other things that had come out of her school bag just on a pile on the floor and I said you've got to put them where they go man, they can't just sit on the floor. She said I don't know where they go. I said I can tell you where they're going to go if you don't find somewhere to put them and she said where? I said the bin, the gun and the bin.

7:27Jase:So then all of a sudden they get sucked into her room. There is so much wonderful stuff that comes home but how much of it are we honestly expected to keep as parents? That's a good point. 3483 let us know your thoughts. You can also call us on 0800 Hauraki $50 Reburger vouchers up for grabs. In the meantime,

7:49Keyzie:there's Queen to the Stone Age. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Red Hot! Chilli Peppers here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.27 and we're talking about what to biff and what not to biff. Re our kids.

8:13Jase:That's right. I had an episode where I was cleaning up the house over the weekend. Mogi Minogi, my daughter, was helping me out. She found a picture that apparently she had given me for my birthday. All of her friends had written on it. It was a love heart with a multi-tiered cake stacked on top of it. I'd thrown it into the bin. She was devastated. But the question has been raised here, what do you keep and what do you throw out when there is a tsunami of, and I want to say shit, stuff that comes home from school? every single day. Yes. I feel like we've been stitched up by the teachers. Like, I cannot store all this stuff in my house, but my kid feels really connected to it.

8:53Jase:She thinks every thing she does is important, obviously. Yes. But to me, a vast majority of it's got to go. Some of it's amazing. Well, you mentioned being stitched up by a teacher, Mogi. We've actually got Nathan from Dunedin on the line. G'day, Nathan. How you going, man? Yeah, good. How are you, fellas? Yeah, good, mate. And I understand you're a kindergarten teacher, right? Yeah, I have. I probably should have put a pseudonym on the phone.

9:17Keyzie:Yeah. Kindergartens are the worst, actually, in terms of that sort of stuff. Little sculptures and pictures and all that sort of carry on, Nathan. Oh, yeah, some of it's absolute, but... But I understand you've got like an agreement going at your kindergarten. Is that right? Yeah, we gentlemen's agreement with the parents, and we go over some stuff before they go home and whether they want to take it home or not or it might get lost.

9:45Jase:Yeah. Yeah, I think that's the thing because what it feels like to me is that the teacher's way of tidying up the classroom is to tell the kids to take their school bag and find any bit of scrap paper in the classroom that has or hasn't been used and stuff it in the bag and bring it home for each of us to then have to go through as parents. Yeah, it depends if we like it or not. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's probably a big part of it. Fair point. That's probably why I'm in trouble. If you get on our nerves, we've got our little tricks. See, that's what it'll be then, Mogey. We've answered that issue.

10:17Thanks for your contribution, Nathan. We'll hook you up with a$50 re-burger voucher.

10:21Keyzie:And here's the thing, fellas. Having four girls, as you can imagine, Mogey, crap loads of stuff. And that's another generalisation I'm going to make. It tends to be the other partner that likes all that stuff, wants to keep all that stuff. Yeah. And as you can imagine in my house, we've just got screeds of it. My point is, and I often make it to my wife, when do we even look at this stuff? You know what I mean? It sits in a cupboard or in a wardrobe for years and years and years. It's not for you. And years. But is it even for them? But who's it for? No, it is. It's for, like, to be fair, there is such thing as too much stuff.

10:58Yeah. But in my bedroom at home at my parents' place, Mon and Don's, there is a large drawer, one drawer only, with all of my school stuff that they kept. Yeah. And there's a nice selection of, like, drawings from year eight and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But I would say there's no more than 10 things from each year, which is about two clear files worth.

11:16Jase:That's right. So then you're talking in that instance is about 130 items. I get that in a week. Yeah, right. I get that in a week. Yeah, okay. So I must have had, because I remember there was a system at school where you had a big folder thing. Every time you did a drawing, you put it in that folder at the back of the class. And then at the end of the year, I don't remember what we did with that folder. I think we just like burnt it or something. I would say that would be the case because the further you get away from it in your mind, the better, because otherwise it's every single thing. Because it's so recent, it's the best thing you've ever done.

11:42Jase:Yes. There's a real connection. But there's a great text that's come through here on 3483. This is a great rule. I'm going to do this. Keep 100 % of the stuff for one day, 50 % of it for a week, 10 % of it for a month, and then 0.1 % of it until they move out and then give it back to them when they leave or throw it all away immediately. Cheers, Brad. Also, this one here from Pete. Leave it in your car, wait till you're at the gas station, then put it in the bin at the gas station. I've done that. Yes. Right, okay. So have I. Yeah.

12:10Keyzie:And I mean, it's lovely getting beautiful cards from your kids. Yes. But that was, you know, 30 years ago. Yeah. Right, but you still have kids. They don't give you anything nice anymore? Oh, they still give me nice stuff, but they give me like, you know, practical stuff, not little drawings. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? Not little pretty cards. Yeah. Just, you know, good stuff. Oh, yeah. I once made like a clay frame, photo frame, and baked it and put bits of macaroni and drew a little picture in it and baked that in an oven and then brought that home to mum and dad. Never saw it ever again.

12:44Jase:I don't know what the hell happened to it, but. We should get Mon and Don on the phone and ask them whatever happened to that. Oh, yeah, cool. I'll just do that for you now. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

12:57Keyzie:Pool jam there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.42. Now, fellas, I'm looking at our schedule for today's show, and I see Kiwi Pong is back. When the bloody hell did that happen? Yeah, it is back, Jase. I'm not sure when exactly the ACC and Hodaki decided to bring it back, but I can confirm that it's already sold out. What? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The event is sold out. It is the World Series of Kiwi Pong. Right. Thanks to SoBeer, which is special gummies that you take after a night out, and then you'll wake up fresh the next day. Right. But the grand prize is$10 ,006.

13:36It's going to be at Sweatshop Brew Kitchen, which is in Auckland on Saturday, November 29th. It is 100 % sold out. However, there are two team spots left that you can only win at hodaki.co.nz. Wow.

13:48Keyzie:Well, I sort of feel like we should have a big show team, shouldn't we? I'm already doing it, yeah.

13:52Jase:No, but a big show team. Because who are you doing it with? Minaya. Yeah, see, it's not the big show, man.

13:57Keyzie:What, man?

13:58Jase:What, were you guys going to do it? Yeah, totally. It hasn't ever been offered to us. It's disgraceful. What the hell, Keezy? Well, no, that's fine if you want because I'm sort of 50-50 and so is Mania. You and Mo, you can do it, Jase.

14:10Keyzie:Yeah, okay. Sounds really good. It's on a Saturday. Oh, yeah.

14:14Jase:I love doing stuff on Saturday. You'll be there, eh, Jase?

14:16Keyzie:Oh, what Saturday, dude? I said the 29th of November, remember? Oh, just, Siri, just check 29 November for me, would you? Oh, no, you see. Well, that was quick. Far. Okay, so you don't want to. That's fine. Well, if you want, Mogey, you're busy that weekend. I can do it with you, Jase, and we can have a big show team. Hoyt and Keezy. Siri. No, stop talking to Siri. Look, if you don't want to do it, this is why you weren't asked to do it.

14:42Jase:How did I become busy in that conversation? You said you weren't keen. I said I was keen the whole time. He said he was really keen. That's what I was thinking. Yeah, hearing what you want to hear, I said I'm keen. I'm keen. I thought you were like, oh. No, I'm keen. It was Jase that was doing that, remember? And he said I'll talk to Siri about it. Keezy and Mogi. Yeah, you can't Mogi. Yeah, man, I'll be there. The 29th. What time is it? I'm not sure. Probably about 10 a.m. or something like that. Yeah, I think it starts maybe 11 lunchtime. Yeah, I'll be there, man.

15:07Keyzie:Yeah? On the proviso, of course, fellas, I'm prepared to give up my place. You don't have a place. If you win like 10K, it's a big show win. You know what I'm saying? And we split it amongst the fellas. You've got nothing to do with it. Yeah, well, because you haven't lobbed a single Kiwi Pong ball. Well, I gave up my spot. so you guys can do this.

15:27Jase:Okay, well, no, let's let him back in. Okay, you can come back in. Well, as I say... All right, well, I'll tag out. You're in now. I am? Yeah, do you want to be in or not? Siri. Stop talking to... Look, hodaki.co.nz, if anyone listening wants one of those two final spots, we'll work out the details of our team. I think our team's meeting at 6am on that Saturday morning, by the way. Is it when it takes it all? When it takes it all. That's one thing I want to check. And the other thing I want to check is that the finalists can't split the winnings and say, oh, we're not playing. I don't like that.

15:57No, no, no, there has to be a winner.

15:58Jase:Yeah, I don't like that. There always is a winner. Yeah, good. And it's a hell of an event. If you are keen, all you need to do is grab a mate, think of a team name. The Big Show. Well, that's obviously our team name. But for people that want to get one of those last two team spots, grab a mate, think of a name, then head to hodaki.co.nz and you could win over$10 ,000. Fielas? Fielas? How good. Oh, shit. Blink 182? No, I suppose. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

16:29Keyzie:Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

16:43Jase:Yes. TV. Guys, I've got so much to talk about. I've been watching some really great, great stuff. But I overheard a conversation when I got to work today, and I simply cannot take up any more time because I know that Keezy has got some great chat around a show he's been watching. Oh, wow. So I really want to give him the floor. So, Jase, I understand you probably want to talk about something, but... I did. Well, you can. Just let me talk for a wee bit. Yeah, I can tell you.

17:14Keyzie:Do you want to go before or after me? I'll go before. Look, he hates that, eh? Oh, Jase, man, he likes to be the big dog, you see, and he hates that. So I just finished up watching the latest season, well, the only season of Celebrity Traders UK. Yeah. All right, I've talked about it before. It's on three now. It is the best reality TV show I've ever watched. Man. It is that good. Is it better than Jersey Shore? Oh, I haven't watched Jersey Shore. Geordie Shore? Geordie Shore. I didn't watch those. Busy Island? It's better than Busy Island just. But seriously, it is funny. You can watch it with your partner.

17:48You'll both be entertained. And the reaction, especially the final, it was just brilliant. the talent involved if you like Ted Lasso you've got Nate the Great there if you like footy you've got Joe Marler there if you like comedy you've got Joe Wilkinson and Stephen Fry and just all these great top level talent and it is only 9 episodes and it is absolutely brilliant I heard you cried at the end I didn't cry I was talking to Beck our day show host she cried no no it was you oh yeah yeah I wept at the end did your wife cry no but I can see why you would cry because it's quite an intense game because it involves seriously lying to others.

18:24And these people are all friends. They're fellow comedians and stuff, and you have to lie to them for days. So seriously, best reality show I've ever watched. Check it out.

18:32Jase:I'm going to watch that based on your recommendation, Keezy. All right? Cool. Can't wait for you to come in and bag it. Me neither. Five buzzies out of five. Can't wait. On the reality scale. Traders UK on three now. You can go now, Jase. Sorry, man. Oh, look at him. He's all sheepish now. He's being... He's packing a sad and that... What have you got, Jase? Come on, Jase.

18:50Keyzie:Don't pack a sad. I watched a movie called Frankenstein. Oh, yes. On Netflix. The new one. Del Toro? Del Toro. I had to keysy it. An old friend of mine. I had to keysy it, and by that I mean split it into two nights. Right. She's a long bastard.

19:05Jase:Is it she's 320 or something like that? Stupid.

19:09Keyzie:It's a long bastard. Right. I think we all know the story of Frankenstein. It's basically told from the perspective of the creator of said monster. Right. And then from the perspective of said monster. It's told from the perspective of Frankenstein. He's the guy that makes. The monster that everyone calls Frankenstein is Frankenstein's monster. Yes. Where it's Dr. Frankenstein that makes him. Look, I really enjoyed it. Visually amazing. Just very well told. Very lavish. Very well acted. Quite dramatic. I really enjoyed it. I like Guillermo del Toro. And I've got to be, you know, it was too long.

19:45Keyzie:I mean, even over two nights, that's too long. With three hours, that sounds like a three-nighter. So, but definitely if you've got a, you know, you're feeling a bit hairy on a Sunday afternoon, it's raining outside, just spend your entire afternoon watching it. I'll give it 3.4 buzzies. That's not a lot. That's bad, after what you just said. 3.5 buzzies.

20:10Jase:So is it losing points because it's too long? Yes. I heard some of the dialogue was a bit on the nose. people felt that some of the messaging which should have been a bit more subtext was a bit on the nose and a bit obvious towards the end

20:23Keyzie:no I didn't, yeah I mean it did get a bit obvious in parts but it was just visually really fun to watch right but it's still only a 3.5 stars

20:31Jase:great actors, great directing, looked amazing 3 stars did I say 3.5 did I? I meant 3.7 buzzies ok I'll take it still not that keen to watch it

20:43Keyzie:hey And today, heaps coming up after five, including, we've got to sort out our pizza parties when we're on tour. I've got a bone to pick with old Hoity J. And how you can do, no, just quickly, we've got another copy of the Hauraki Big Show limited edition vinyl to give away. Oh, how good. And we'll be doing that after five as well, which is bloody exciting. And the one and only Johnny Brough from Educators is coming in. We'll be chatting to him. How good. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, your massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday's going along very nicely indeed.

21:20Keyzie:You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries, and gourmet eats that will change the game. Yum. Yum. Yeah, great stuff. Yum. Yum. Tell you what, it was actually... Yum. Yum. Yum. It was great catching up with the fellows down in Dunedin from Reburger. Oh, yes. God, it's good food. It is good food. Mogi actually took some and snuck it into the beer festival.

21:48Jase:Yes, he did. Well, it was an open carry. That was an open carry. I had the bag, a little satchel, screwed it up at the top, and I just walked in with it right in front of me, and they didn't stop me. Good as gold. And why would you? Well, they get it. Yeah, totally, man. Everybody gets it when you've got the... They could have said, look, we've got people in here that sell food, but they weren't selling the good stuff. Yeah, and you know what's interesting? As I saw, there was a security guard off to the side who noticed Moggy with his little satchel of Reburger because they give it to you in satchels.

22:17And he went to come over and inspect it and then the other guy put his hand in front of his chest and said, hey, don't worry, that's full of crave-worthy street food freshly made. Yeah. And he said, oh, yeah, fair enough, I'm just letting him through.

22:27Keyzie:Can I just make the point? You don't get between a man and his Reburger. No, exactly. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Or his Reburger. Or his Reburger. Yum. Yum. Hey, speaking of yum, I'm going to be talking pizza parties next. Yeah. Yeah, we need to establish some rules. Or lack thereof. Yeah. Okay, this is what we try to address, Jase. You try to make us feel guilty. Anyway, we'll get into it next. In the meantime, who's this? Arctic Monkeys. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. David Bowie there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.

23:05Keyzie:The time is 12 minutes past five o 'clock. You're going to wipe that out? Show meeting. Show meeting. Show me the meeting Show meeting is now in progress Calling a show meeting and Pugs is here by the way Yeah Now people won't be aware of this We might have mentioned it once or twice But whenever we go on the road Like we've just been to Dunedin Sometimes we like to go back to Hoity J's room And have a pizza party Now we've done this once And I believe that was in Taranaki Pugs Yes, hello It was in Taranaki We went back to Hoity J's room Maybe about 9.30 or something we ordered pizza and we watched a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie.

23:44There was also one other time that I've just thought of. Thank you, Pugs, yes. Where was that? In your room. In your room where we ordered pizzas and Hoity J turns up at the door and helped himself. At the Black Clash. That was the last Tauranga Black Clash. Yes. We ordered pizzas. That was at 11.30 p.m. The reason we ordered pizzas is because it was all that we could order. It started this thing called a pizza party. and Jase, you've been trying to get another one of those off the ground recently, haven't you? Yeah, I have. The last couple of broadcasts we've done out of town.

24:15Keyzie:Yes, absolutely. It's just an opportunity to spend some time with the fellas, you know, and hoity J to shout the fellas a bit of a treat and we can just sit around with our shoes off. Oh, do you want to shout? Hang on, what? No, that's a new development. Oh, yeah, right. Watch a movie together and bond and stuff like that. So, yeah, for sure. I'm fond of them Jase you sent through The pizza party invite At like 9 o 'clock Or something Whilst we were In Dunedin Yeah Having an awesome time And it felt like My partner was at home Being like Oh come home And watch a movie with me While we're out Having a good time That's what it felt like And I had to choose Between the two Can I also note The beer fest was still Going at that time Yes At 9pm on that night So we were still At the event Jase You know we were Hanging around Catching up with the The punters that had Come to see us And you Yeah And I was getting guilt tripped into coming home to have a pizza place.

25:08Like, yes, we will, but let's do it at like 11.30 or something once we're finished.

25:11Jase:Yeah. That's my point. And then, Mike, was there anything you wanted to add about pizza parties? Well, I don't feel like I should step in, really, because I've never been to one. Actually, that's not true. And I guess I've never been invited, and so I don't feel like I should contribute to what is something that you guys have got together. Can I call BS on that? Because we had a pizza party at the last Magic Round, and Kesey wasn't there for it. He was out with Mania. Oh, really? And we were in one of your hotel rooms, and we had a pizza party. And we watched that movie, Heathers.

25:40Keyzie:Well, listen. Oh, yeah. Fellas. That's all G.I. No, don't put on the sad voice. Come on, man. I'm saying. And you were certainly invited, Mogi. I just, you know, when I say pizza party, I mean big show pizza party. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right, well, why did you make a separate group chat with just me and pugs in it then? Oh, I thought that was weird. Called pizza party.

26:00Jase:Just, you know. Bracket. Don't tell Mogi. Bracket.

26:02Keyzie:I got some pizzas in and stuff. I hear your point, fellas, and I'll... Look at him. Look what he's doing.

26:13Jase:20 to 9, you're sending a text message to the group saying, Jase feels the fellas aren't really into pizza nights. 20 to 9? And just don't know how to tell them. 20 to 9? That's less than an hour and a half after the show finished. Are you kidding me? I thought it was like 9.30. The next morning at 7.39, there's a pizza here in my room, fellas. just that I'd order it for the fellas in case they turned up. 20 to 9. It's not even dark yet. And we're getting guilted over the pizza parties. Okay, pizza parties from now on have to occur after 10.30. I think that's very reasonable. And then there's a follow-up message here.

26:50Jase:Your mates from the broadcast that were wearing the Jason Hoyt shirts were keen to join your pizza party. Then from Jase, that's nice. a couple of fellas that want to spend time with me. Oh, my God. So annoying. Okay, new rules. So, okay, if we're in a small town, after nine, pizza party. If we're in a city like Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, pizza party after like 10, 30, 11. Why are we limiting ourselves in small towns? I'm always down for a pizza party because I'm like you. I'm exhausted after putting everything into it mentally and physically for the live show, so I'm ready to go back to bed.

27:25Jase:So, quarter past seven, half past seven, I'm ready for a pizza party. Lights out at 8. Good stuff, Maggie. Well, listen, fellas.

27:34Keyzie:I'll take that on board and, you know. Can you stop moving? That'd be good, man. Please. And just, you know, make sure that next time. How about this? I'll wait to order the pizzas probably till after 11. You've literally never ordered the pizzas for us ever. This is bullshit, man. God, here's Guns N' Roses. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The exponents here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 5.23. Now, do you want to win a very exclusive vinyl, New Zealand, i.e. the Big Show vinyl and our origin story? If you do, give us a call right now on 0800 Hauraki.

28:24Yeah, that's right. But limited run, already sold out. Thanks to our mates at Holiday Records for making it all possible. It is a very open and honest chat of how the big show started. Hiccups we experienced along the way. A few of our favourite ever moments.

28:37Jase:I mean, no, you go, mate. Well, we were just saying, we were chatting about it while you were away yesterday, Haughty J, and it turns out, because we're interested to see how we went on the vinyl charts, which are measured every week. And we thought we would have got on there because we sold thousands of copies and No Time Flat, they don't measure it because it's not music. So it doesn't count towards chart sales because it's not music, which I think is weird. But when you think about it. Surely it's a vinyl and it's been sold. So it would be like any comedy or any kind of like, you know, Kevin Bloody Wilson back in the day or 12th Man.

29:11Jase:Absolutely. It counts on the charts because it's album sales. The other interesting thing too is Mogi actually looked at the album charts and looked at the albums that are – wasn't it Pink Floyd? Pink Floyd The Wall is number two. What? Yeah. But then you've got Tay-Tay Swift in there a whole heap of times. Tay-Tay's in there. Harry Styles is in there, like three albums worth. But then you've got Queen. Queen's Greatest Hits, two albums.

29:35Keyzie:Craziness. G'day, Nick, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, bloody good, fellas. Good on you, mate. Tell me, Nick, what do you do for a crust? Work at a music shop. Oh, backbone. Really? Well, just on that front, what do you think about what Moggy was just saying? I mean, surely our vinyl should have been counted on the charts there. Oh, you'd bloody hope so, right? You bloody would. I reckon, Nick, you should quit and protest. Yeah, sort it out, Nick. Would you like a copy of our limited edition vinyl, Nick? I'd love a copy. All right, mate. Well, it's all yours, man. Hey, tell me, Nick, do you get sort of, you know, discounts and freebies, you know, since you're a music dude and you work with music?

30:21It helps with getting strings Yeah

30:24Keyzie:Right okay

30:25Jase:Yeah yeah yeah They fit in your back pocket You mad dog

30:28Keyzie:Tell me Nick Do you have dreams Of becoming a rock star Is that what's going on here That's exactly what's going on

30:37Jase:Good stuff mate Yeah same as Jase Although the keyboard That he got Six months ago Is still just sitting out there Doing nothing But I'm sure you two Will both become rock stars One day Congrats Nick That vinyl's all yours mate

30:48Keyzie:Thanks team We appreciate it. Love you, man. Appreciate you, man. Love you. Massive backbone. Oh, well, that's disappointing because I would have really liked to have known if we featured it all. Well, I can tell you we didn't. Yeah. But how do you feel, fellas? A sold-out vinyl. That's pretty good, isn't it?

31:04Jase:Oh, man, I've been getting so many messages about it. I bet. The old DMs. People are loving it. Yeah, man. People are saying, yeah. Absolutely loving it. Yeah, absolutely. If you do want to get your hands on it, they're all done, by the way. We're not doing another pressing of these. We do have a few more up our sleeves, so stay listening to The Big Show and call 0800-HAURAKI when we tell you. Up next, your old mate, Johnny Brough. Yeah, let's do it. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

31:30Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the killers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this glorious Tuesday afternoon. And fellas, what a special treat. We've got a star in our midst. He's the star of the hit comedy Educators. I'm talking about the one and only Johnny. Mike Minogue. Johnny Braff, you mad bastard. How's life? And Mike Minogue. Good, thanks, JC. How are you, mate? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Is Mike in the new series, is he? Yes, he is. He was talking about it. Yes, he is. Right, okay. Yeah. How are you going? Good, buddy. How are you going? Yeah, good, thanks. I can't complain. Are you writing poetry? Funnily enough, Johnny, I am.

32:05Keyzie:Good. My wife, for my birthday, bought me an old typewriter. Oh, lovely. Because I've been talking about it for ages and banging on about it, And then for my birthday, she got me a beautiful, what was it, an Olivetti Fielder's? No, I'll find what it is.

32:20Jase:You made up the name and it was not quite right. It wasn't that at all. Nevertheless, beautiful it is. 1972. 1972. And now you'll be tapping away.

32:27Keyzie:I am tapping away very contentedly. What about you, John? Are you doing a bit of writing? Yes, I write goth poetry. Yes. Can I just, what do you call it when you talk about your up-and-coming gig on the radio? Plug. Plug. Plug. A gig on the 20th of November. Clown of Thorns My goth bassist Goth beat poet character Is doing a spot And I have I'm going to play My bass through An octave dropper On a 200 watt bass rig And it's going to be like A nightmare Witch thunderstorm Just make up Goth poetry

33:00Jase:Where is that gig? At Stupido Cupido Little bar In Pointe Sheve And how do you get tickets for it? Just turn up Right okay It's just because We've got like a one plug policy So are we plugging educators Or are we that gig? Well, we can plug Educators for me and Clown of Thorns for all that.

33:17Keyzie:Look, I think Johnny can plug as many things as he wants. You know what I mean? Just on that front, Johnny, do you do much live stuff still? Yeah, I do. I play Clown of Thorns, goth bassist, beat poet. Yeah, yeah, that's your main character. Yeah, and the comedy's in When Things Go Wrong, like it bases out a tune. I have to go wet, boing, doing, doing, doing, doing, doing. Yeah. And that's the funniest part. The rest of it's just awkward, unrequited love songs. Well, back in the day when we were, the old Sugar and Spice days, we took joy in things going wrong. We did. That was the entirety of our comedy career.

33:52Keyzie:We had to wait because it just did go wrong. We didn't realise we needed to write another 10 minutes for the set.

33:57Jase:Well, we should point that out and be clear about that. Yes, it's that JSU and Johnny were in Sugar and Spice together, which we've talked about ad infinitum across the show over the years. How did you meet? We should, because we've never done a proper chat about it.

34:12Keyzie:I think we should do a special podcast with him. Yeah, sure.

34:15Jase:In the meantime, just a little rundown for the team out there. Oh, you go, Jasey. Do it.

34:20Keyzie:Oh, how we met? Was that the question? Yeah, for a start. And how you got into a comedy duo? We had a mutual friend called Brendan Lovegrove who went to my school, Dilworth, and then ended up going to Johnny's school, Sacred Heart. Yeah, and he thought he was Bono, and he had long, wavy hair, and he was awesome. And he would sit with all the Form 1 kids with his big hairy legs crossed and his arms crossed folded as a seventh former and sit there and put his hand up and ask annoying questions and just put on a show. And I found it really inspiring. And then I met Jase and all the Duelworth boys, and we had an instant complicity.

34:57Keyzie:Yeah, we did. We did. You know, and it may have been that at the time we were, you know, having the odd... You were stoned, weren't you? Yes. Off and nuts. but you know 10 spots later I've just bowled 40 overs at Jase and he's on a 500 and it's a piece of paper and tape and Jase is using a piece of driftwood but the cover drives were glorious I remember you hitting like 500 off me yes and we were young enough so that we didn't injure ourselves those were good old days man they sure were but listen no we should do that John I used to do a podcast about it but in terms of educators a new season mate My wife was actually asking me to find out.

35:40Keyzie:You've got some bloody big stars on the show this year. You included Julian. Julian Barrett from The Mighty Boosh. Yes. Oh, wow. Taika Waititi. I've only seen the first episode which Taika's in. Yeah. Wow, Julian, that's really cool. Yeah, he's my favourite. How did you get him? We've also got his partner. Judy Davis? Julia Davis. Julia Davis. Who is brilliant as well, by the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so she said, I'm coming over with the family, and Jesse calls me and goes, so Julian Barrett's going to be here. And I demanded that we have our storylines intertwined. Yes. So we did that, and it was great.

36:19It was great, man. Yeah.

36:22Keyzie:Well, actually, when I look at him as a performer, you guys are kind of similar in a way. Well, to be fair, you could fit in with the sort of Noel Fielding look as well, you know, and him. 100%. You're just talking about the hairdo, aren't you? No, well, they're goths too, aren't they? Well, especially Noel. Oh, yeah, he plays the goth, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But Julian Barrett's got this lovely haplessness to him which would suit Clown of Thorns. He'd be a good Clown of Thorns. Yes. Now, listen, we'll go to a song because I really want to knuckle down on educators. Yeah, yeah. And as a special treat, Johnny, Jase tells me your favourite band is Stone Temple Pilots.

36:54Not true. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

37:01Keyzie:Yes, indeed, Stone Temple Pilots here on the radio. Hodaki, big show this Tuesday afternoon. We've got the star of the hit comedy, Educators, Johnny Brough with us. Tell me, Johnny, where are you at refilming? Are you done and dusted or is it still going? Educators. Educators, what did I say? We shot that last summer. It's been released, Jase. It's out on the TV.

37:25Jase:Oftentimes, once it's released, you won't still be shooting it. Right, yeah. Well, it would be nice if we were, wouldn't it? It's on TMZ Plus, by the way. You should check out every episode there and all the other seasons too. Yeah. They're all there. I was actually supposed to be on that show. I was supposed to be a dog handler. Yeah. I had a word to producers and managed to get Keezy a job there and then they changed the shooting schedule. Keezy was unavailable and that was the end of it. Yeah. I thought you were going to say that. They looked at the footage and went, it's just not working. No good.

37:54Cutting room floor. I've only done like three ad auditions and every single one I walked away being like, I'm the biggest idiot in the world. So that's the nature of the beast. Yeah.

38:02Keyzie:Yeah, okay. In terms of educators though, Johnny, am I right in saying a heavy improvisation content going on there? Yeah. So we know what the scene's ideally about. We want to, how we want to end the scene. Yes. What point we want to get across. And then we just wing it. And we'll get two or three goes at it. And Jesse Griffin, who's the comedy master with the cans on, we'll throw some ideas in and then we'll just sort of maybe if we're getting a bit too sidetracked we'll push us along towards the end because we've got to hurry up as well. That must be a nightmare when it comes to editing though.

38:37You know what I mean? If it's just constantly being improvised.

38:40Jase:I think that he knows what he wants though, doesn't he? He's got a gentle idea. And then he's also making notes as well with his script supervisor about the things that he wants. And it's also, he's got a great ability, Jesse, as a director to be very brutal. The hardest thing about it Yeah, when you watch it back and you've been on set, it's like, oh, what about that bit and that bit and that bit and every episode should be an hour and a half long as far as you're concerned. Yeah, that's what I reckon. But Jesse is very good at going, okay, yeah, sure, that's funny, but does it also move the story along?

39:13Yeah, we'll just take the funniest bits. I mean, let Julian Barrett, who plays a detective, let him have a play.

39:20Jase:Yeah. Because he's special and, you know, give him a good thing. And I get to be in all the scenes just doing the same thing, trying to say no to all the idiots and not put out all the fires I've started. That's what I like about your character, and it's been the same for four seasons now, is your job in every episode seems to be having to address something, but you never actually address anything because you always get basically... Then there wouldn't be a show, would there? No, exactly, which is great. Yeah, yeah. Very relatable character. My favourite part, of course, is the storyline of thinking of my long-lost son has found me and has worked out that I'm his father, but I work out as we go to lunch that he's three years out and I'm not.

40:00But I still think I've got a son and I just love that storyline so much. There's so much stuff we did that, as you say, we've got to hurry up with the story. It doesn't get in the edit and I would love it. Well, that was in the edit. That was the first episode of season four. That's the one Taika's in as well. Yeah, that's right. And you meet your long lost son, you work out, but then you realise halfway through he's not your son but you go along with it anyway. Well, yeah, the other characters, don't they?

40:23Jase:They go, that's not your son. It's not your son, mate. Nah, but he's a good boy. I'm proud of him. I've lent him 15 grand. Well, I've given him 15 grand. Good luck to him. Very well played, actually, by Robbie Nichol. Is that his name there? Yeah. Yeah, he was a very likeable young fella. As soon as he came on, I was like, oh, no, that could be Johnny's son. Yeah, yeah. He's very similar.

40:41Keyzie:Is that the guy with the mow? Has he got a mow? Yeah, yeah. I saw a little clip of that. It was very funny. Yeah. G'day, son. I see you've shaved your mow. No, it was glued on. And left me alone. Give us a call. Johnny, why isn't Jason educators? That's a good question. Well, he'd be marvellous. I've had the opportunity, but the funny story with that was they literally rang me on the day when I was in the mall with my daughter and said, can you come and film now? Yeah, but that's what we have to do, though, because we can't change the schedules because we're shooting in a school. Yes. And the headmaster, I wanted to have a giant obelisk of clay and I wanted to be sculpting my ex-wife out of clay and stationary products.

41:22and poor Rachel, the producer, goes, no. And did that, no, no, you're stifling my creativity. She goes, it's a real headmaster's office. If we mash clan of the carpet, we'll never get it out of that. That's right.

41:33Jase:I go in there and into the green room and Johnny's in there with a massive canvas painting himself. So that's what turned into the paintings. Yeah, so in the spirit of rigorous innovation, as Jason Hoyt and I have always endeavoured to strive for, I wanted my character to do big paintings, inappropriate paintings, awful ones that were not appropriate for school. And that started as a ton of clay and ended up little paintings getting bigger and bigger until, yeah. Well, it's very good because one of them is hanging up in the sick bay and it's a painting of the Angel of Death. Yeah, and I'm nude and I've got a little willy and I'm just happily going to heaven.

42:14Keyzie:If I know you as I do, there'd be some nudity in these paintings. It has to be nudity in art, yeah. Well, great stuff. Well, Johnny Brough, Educators, where is it on? TBNZ Plus, every season's there, and I highly recommend it. It's my favourite New Zealand comedy, other than Talkback. Other than Talkback, yeah.

42:30Jase:Go check it out, all four seasons. Hey, get me in Talkback. Oh, yeah, we're doing it in the first season. We're making everyone wait ten years for the second season, and then we'll be back. Do you like NXS, Johnny? The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

42:48Keyzie:Friends, Ferdinand there on the radio. Hauraki, big show this Tuesday evening. I tell you what, it's always lovely to catch up with Johnny. It is great. If you've just joined us, we had Johnny Brough in, who is in the latest season of Educators and also was Jase's original comedy partner in his duo. How many years ago now, Jase? Oh, God. 27. A long time. Yeah, a long time. If you missed the chat, it'll be on today's podcast, which comes out at 7.30.

43:12Jase:I've just realised, man, So, Brent, you guys broke up around about the same time as you got together with your wife. Is your wife the Yoko Ono of Sugar and Spice? I think she might be, Maggie. She's fully to blame. Yeah.

43:24Keyzie:Hey, now coming up after 6 o 'clock shirt chat, and Keezy got a few questions about his little putt-putt motorbike. Don't start naming it my little putt-putt motorbike. My Chevy truck is now known as my little truckie. People might not take me seriously, fellas. That's not what it sounds like. Because I can't start it at the moment.

43:49The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

43:55Keyzie:Welcome back, Immersive Backbones. Hope your Tuesday evening is going along very nicely and you're relaxing at home and maybe having a cold one as you look forward to dinner. By the way, the Big Show's brought to you by Reburger. Certainly is. Serving good times and good food. Dine-in or takeaway Reburg year today. Oh wait no, I played that one yesterday And if I could just direct your attention to this next slide You'll see that Reburger is serving both good times and good food And that's whether or not you dine in or take away Reburger today And if you just look at this next slide, you'll see that it's Yeah!

44:42Keyzie:Yeah, man. So good, fellas. Yeah, man. I've heard a rumour about Reburger and potentially releasing a new product to do with the big show. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't want to give away anything. Okay. What is it? Oh, well, no. Well, I can't give away anything. But what is it, though? Just give us a clue. Give us some hints. It's a menu item. Yeah. Okay. At Reburger. Love it. It's crave-worthy. Oh. It's street food. I can't say anymore. Sorry, fellas. All right. And it's a main thing. It's not like a dessert or a starter. And it's to do with a big show. And it's to do with a big show.

45:26Wow. Yeah. Any guesses?

45:29Jase:Any guesses? Probably a burger. Ah. Couldn't say. Couldn't say. Couldn't say. Maybe some spicy tenders. No, it's not that. You just said it was a burger. No, I didn't. I said couldn't say. Is it a burger, is it? No. Oh, isn't it? I don't know. I can't say. Oh. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. It's R.E.M. I don't know what it is. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

45:57Keyzie:Pink Floyd there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this glorious Tuesday evening. Hey, fellas, I'm going out of Tauranga this weekend. Oh, mean, man. Thanks, man. Cool. No, no, thank you. I'm just going down to my parents have been on holiday for two weeks. Oh, nice. They're going to be home Saturday, so I'll be there. I'll work on my bike during the day, and then I might cook them dinner again with my brother on the Saturday night. Grease monkey. What do you mean? You'll be working on your bike. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks, man. Yeah. But just on my bike. You'll wash your hands, obviously, first.

46:26Yeah, I'll wash. No, I'll probably wear gloves. Oh. But I do have a question just about my bike, because I'm thinking of bringing it back up to Auckland. Yeah. It's at the point now where I've just got to give it a bit of a tune and then I can take it and get it registered and put it on the road. Yeah, right. And I was just wondering, because you guys used to ride motorbikes. Yes. I kind of need someone to ride my bike with. What do you mean? Like at the weekend.

46:49Jase:Oh.

46:50Keyzie:Oh, like a partner. Like a mate.

46:52Jase:Not back from Tauranga. No, no, no.

46:54Keyzie:I'll put that on the back of my truck. Look, I've got my bike at home, but the problem is I think your little putt part, it only goes like what you were saying, like top speed of 40K. Well, yeah, but that was before I tuned it and had it running right. Oh, right. What does it go up there now? 50. No, it'll easily go over 100. It's happy sitting at about 100. It's old. It's 1971, so it's old. But, you know, it's 500cc. It goes all good. So what kind of bike did you have? Because mine's a Honda.

47:19Jase:He's got a fast one. Yeah, it's definitely fast. Suzuki, Keezy. Yeah. Oh, Suzuki. Wow. 1 ,000cc. 1 ,000? Yeah. How many cylinders? Two. Wow, 1 ,000cc twin Suzuki. Yeah, man. That sounds sick.

47:32Keyzie:And I've got side saddles as well. He does. Side saddles?

47:36Jase:Yeah, he's got his side saddles. That's where you can do paper run and all that sort of stuff. Oh, side, like the bags that hang on the back. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The saddles. Exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

47:44Keyzie:Okay, would you be keen? But if I'm going for, like, optimum speed, I'll take the saddles off, obviously. Right, okay. Yes. Top, probably, easy 150. Well, to be honest, if he had a 1 ,000cc bike, I'd say almost 250. Yeah, well, but I like to just cruise at 150. That's why. Well, that's breaking the law. I wouldn't want to go with you because you'd be tailing behind at 40. No, I'd go the speed limit. Do you want to come for a ride one weekend? We've always sort of had a pair.

48:17Jase:It's just about me and Hoity Jase. Right, okay. Exactly that. I mean, I don't know. Well, did you still have your bike, Mike? Yeah, man, I've got mine. What is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. FXDR. 114. Oh, wow. What's that? Yeah, it's a Harley. Wow, Harley, man. It's widely considered to be the fastest Harley ever made. Yeah, but that's like saying, you know, the biggest bloody mouse ever. Yeah, well, I guess 160 miles per hour, Kesey. I mean, you probably can't work out what miles are. I don't know, 270 kilometres. Yeah, but it's around about 260, something like that, man.

48:51Keyzie:Can I just say, when I'm riding Bitch with Mogi on that bar, so you can feel the throb?

48:56Jase:Oh, absolutely, you can. Yeah, when Jace is riding bitch, which is when he's sitting behind me in the old saddle there, I can feel his thighs tighten around my buttocks because he is freaking brother. She's quick, easy. You were saying you take his legs and tie them up in front of you like a sweater.

49:14Keyzie:Sometimes you have to when you're going that fast.

49:16Jase:Yeah. I tie them like a bow, like as if I'm doing up my sports shoes. Yeah, right. Yeah. Do you double knot it? Yeah, I do. Why are you on the back of his bike like when you've got a 1 ,000cc twin Suzuki?

49:27Keyzie:Well, because, you know, sometimes it's nice to change it up a bit. It is. There's no better feeling in the world than riding bitch with Mogi. Yes. All right, well, so let's go for a ride, maybe in the next couple of weekends, like a Sunday ride, and you'll bring your, what was it, Harley? Yeah. What was it called again?

49:44Jase:It was an FXD114. Oh, yeah, it's a hard one to remember. And, Jase, you jump on the back of it. I mean, I just call it Dadoo. Oh, sick. The beast. Yeah, cool. All right, well, let's do that. Sick bastard, I call it. Yeah, cool. Got a writing buddy. How good. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

50:03Keyzie:Metallica there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Now, fellas, I realise I haven't played golf for a while. I'm absolutely itching to get out there. Yeah, man. With that in mind, the Swingers Club is back, by the way. Certainly is. I played golf with Manaya last week. Oh, did you? Yeah.

50:24Jase:How'd that go? It was good. Yeah. It makes you feel better about yourself, right? I loved it. Yeah, and playing with another member of the Hodaki team was great. Yeah, yeah. Far out. It was a nice day. Yeah. Sweaty. Well, how do you know? You weren't there. Well, because I know it was a really hot day. That's true. Yeah, yeah, but we were sunblocked up. We had an umbrella. A parasol. A parasol, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Minaya had a parasol. Yeah. And I just had a regular umbrella, a barbecue one. Because the parasols are good because they're generally made out of the paper there. Yes. So it doesn't, you know, you're fine with the umbrellas, Keezy.

50:54Jase:that it magnifies the heat oftentimes. Oh, really? No, well, this barbecue one was designed to, like, shield a table of about six people. Oh, one of those ones. It was sort of made out of a canvas or something. That's right.

51:04Keyzie:And you said even despite that, your snozz was still poking out the front of it. What do you mean? You weren't there. How do you know I said that? Well, you said afterwards, you came back and your nose was so bright red. Yeah, that's right. And I said, haven't you got a massive umbrella? And you went, yeah, but the old snozz hoody, Jay, she's massive. I don't remember this conversation, but I must have. It was weird, though, because Minaya had the parasol. Yeah. And he didn't have any clubs. He just had the parasol.

51:31Jase:Yeah. But then I realised the handle, he could pull out, and it was just a golf club in the sort of handle of the parasol. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was great. That explains why he goes so terribly. Yeah, yeah. Cheating bastard. Because you need a golf club. Yeah, yeah. You need some golf clubs. Good luck telling him that. Oh, he's a bad bastard.

51:47Keyzie:Now, the Swingers Club is this month, because of November, of course, We're going to make it a big Movember event, fellas, making sure you stay in touch with your pals. That's right. If you head to hodaki.co.nz, you and a mate can join us playing Windross, which is a course up here in Auckland. It's still within driving distance of literally everywhere in New Zealand, so do enter and come play golf with us. We're looking for two people to team up with Hoorijay and myself and two people to team up with Jerry and Minaya from the Brekkie Show, and then we will take each other on whilst Mogi and Pugsan and Beck from the day show are behind us in a golf cart running amok.

52:22Yeah. Taking it up the rear, eh, fellas? So good. If you are keen, you just have to pick whether you are Team Brekkie or Team Big Show and head to hodaki.co.nz. Wow, I don't know, after playing golf with Mania last week. Yeah.

52:35Keyzie:Yeah, but Mogi, as you've pointed out, we need some revenge. You do. We need to redeem ourselves, Keezy. You realise that's a terrible idea. I will fold massively. Yeah, that's true. Because I suck already. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that is true.

52:49Jase:Well, maybe it's easier if just you and I plays, Jason. Yeah, maybe. That'll make sense. And you can play with Pugs. I want to play with Pugs. I want to play with Pugs. That's not very nice, man. Pugs is lovely to play with. No, he's lovely. To play with. Well, it depends what you're talking about. Hey. Hey, if you're keen, though, hodaki.co.nz. Grab a mate. Choose whether you're team brekkie or team big. Big show. And don't forget, every dollar you give fuels the program's research and support that help men live healthier and longer lives. Don't wait. donate now at nz.movember.com Have you heard this tune?

53:21It's brand new. Sure I have. By a band called ACDC. It's brand new you say? Literally came out yesterday. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

53:44Keyzie:Well there you go you mad bastards that's the big show done and dusted this Tuesday evening hey and the podcast outro today a bit of bonus a bit more Johnny Brough than that fellas

53:52Jase:That's right he sort of turned up as we're having a yarn so we invited him in oh he's a good fella He's a lovely man he also I kind of went out and explained to him that we were still doing the podcast but it come in for the last five and I could tell you know when you You say something to someone and you know that they don't know what you're talking about? Yes. That's what happened? And then he tried to just wait in the B studio with Pugs. And then he sort of came in and didn't realise he was on it. It was good. It was great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was very raw.

54:18Keyzie:That used to happen on stage all the time where I'd be looking at him going, he doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about. That's no word of a lie. That's right, because Jason and him were in a comedy duo together.

54:29Jase:Isn't that a funny thing to have going through your head? Yes. Your partner, you're doing something together, you're saying something and you're thinking, oh, God.

54:36Keyzie:He's got no idea what I'm talking about. He's lucky he's so funny about it, though. Here's a clip of today's podcast, by the way. I'm now known as Hoity Jizzbot. What else? Janus. Hoity Janus. It all comes from Mike, you know, so. Of course. Wow. I think Hoity Janus was me. Oh, was that you, was it? But Jizzbot is definitely old Mogio. Yeah, yeah, or just Hoity Jizz. Do you want a new nickname, Johnny? No, thank you. Yeah, yeah.

55:06Jase:Yeah, good stuff. He's very polite. No, thank you. Based on those nicknames, Jase. Yeah, well, fair enough. He's going to pass. What's the plan tonight, Maggie? Well, I've got a mate coming over. My wife ran into a mate of mine at the place where she works. She's working on a movie, and she invited him over for dinner on a Tuesday night. Am I happy about it? Not really. Happy to see him. I'll be happy to see him. I had a chat to him earlier today, but I prefer a Wednesday onwards to the start of my week. I like to have my own time for me during the early stages of the week. That's just how I am.

55:36Jase:Fair enough. But I've known him for 45 years, I think. Wow. Yeah, so quite some time. That's longer than you've been alive, Jase. I know. That is crazy. Hey, Keezy, what are you having for tea? I'm making a butter chicken. My wife has got this amazing recipe, which is amazing. Is it amazing? It's amazing. And I'm making it tonight because she's got squash. Oh, she's busy.

56:02Keyzie:She is never home anymore. She's so busy. She's never at home with me. I don't know what it is. But I'll be making that for her, and it'll be delicious. Jase. Do you chuck in a bit of extra spice? Yes, 100%. But the interesting thing about this recipe is you cover it in a paste, the chicken, and then you add another paste in with the sauce, and it just makes it extra. Because, you know, you make it yourself. It's a bit blandish. Yes. It is amazing. Can you send me the recipe? Nah. What are you doing tonight? Well, going home, obviously. No, what else, man? Probably learning some lines. Are you filming tomorrow?

56:38No, not tomorrow. Guys, this is a fun chat.

56:43Jase:An interrogation. Trying to get something out of it. We're asking each other what we're doing tonight. I agree. Come on, man. Yeah, yeah. Jason's got a secret. Probably. I might watch Educators tonight. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Start season one, episode one. You've watched none of it? I have actually watched some of it. What about Traders, Celebrity Traders UK? Oh, yeah, that's what we are. No, it sounds like a nightmare. Yeah, OK. Five stars, though, Keezy's given it, so I'm going to give it a try, but it won't be tonight, of course. It's the old mate coming over.

57:13Keyzie:Hey, New Zealand, check out the podcast. Check out the Instagram. Lots going on there. In fact, I think Pugsun's just released a video of our trip to Dunedin. Yeah. So go and have a look there. And until tomorrow, goodbye.

57:30Thank you.
