In short

The Hauraki Big Show (full episode) covers December/Christmas timing, school holiday length outrage, TV/movie reviews, a “standing to attention” dick-pic news story, Reburger/Lazy Boy promos, listener advice, and prize draws.

Guests

No named external guests; it’s hosted by Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue, and Keyzie (Kesey). Guest callers include Tom (Hawke’s Bay school teacher), Kyla (operations manager), Tracy (works “as little as possible”), Seth (diesel mechanic), plus an anonymous advice emailer.

Key claims

School holidays are “obscene” (Mogi Junior: Dec 12–Feb 9; teachers break Dec 12–Jan 28). Highest to Lowest (Spike Lee/Denzel Washington) is “atrocious” with “zero buzzies.” The army dick-pic story shouldn’t affect promotion if consensual. Turps used to remove tree sap caused clothes to smell like turps.

Notable examples

Alter Ego Festival LA draw (Green Day, Sublime, Cage the Elephant); Lazy Boy Neo X power recliner giveaway; Reburger voucher mentions.

0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger.

0:09Keyzie:Welcome, this is Big, to the Hauraki Big Show. Really Big. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company on this glorious Monday afternoon. It is the 1st of December 2025 and you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger.

0:30Mike Minogue:Crave-worthy street feud, freshly made with re-bier gear. Ah, tell you what, that is bloody refreshing. It's not super warm yet because it's still obviously, you know, full summertime, but bloody excited for more swims. You going to hop in or...? Well, to be honest, I think I'll be diving into some re-bier gear instead. Well, I'm sure you could do both, but... That's okay. I'm good. I'm going to dive in. You know why? Go on.

1:03Keyzie:Because it's young.

1:07Keyzie:Oh, too good. Speaking of young. I was worried though, man. Yes. I was worried those guys had broken up. It looks like they're back together. Looks like it. That's great news. It's great stuff. Speaking of which, how's life, Moggy? I'm going to say, man, I'm going pretty grouse. That's good. You're a mad dog. Yeah, good. You're a sick son of a bee. Yeah, good. Beautiful weekend, beautiful weather. But look, we're in December, fellas. How good? You know what that means, man? It's Christmas time. So good. We're going to hold off a little while on the Christmas content. We might wait until tomorrow.

1:35We'll see how we go.

1:37Keyzie:How are you feeling about being in December here, Kesey? It's only, what is it, like 15 more shows to do for the year. It's crazy stuff.

1:44Mike Minogue:Wow, 16 because we've got to cover Brekkie. Oh, shit. On the last day of the year for them. I'm feeling great, man. December 1st, it's a beautiful day. there's nothing but a couple of months of beautiful weather and a lot of time off coming our way. Yeah, it's good stuff. Which I'm stoked about. So I'm in high spirits, and I'm just ready to play some excellent tunes, you know, and deliver some great content.

2:05Keyzie:Yeah, great stuff, man. How are you, Jase? Yeah, good, thanks, man. Are you looking at my shirt there? I'm looking at it too, but there's no birds on it. There's some flowers. Yeah, this is my favourite shirt, actually. Fits me so well. It makes me look hot. It's bulging at the seams there. So good, fellas. Hey, Mogi, what's coming up on the show there, mate? Oh, great question, man.

2:29Keyzie:What's happening on the big show with old Mogi? It's bloody exciting, fellas. We've got another competition, and we just keep on piling them up day after day, week after week, month after month. This time is an opportunity to win probably the greatest lazy boy ever created. It's pretty good. It's bloody amazing. Not only that, there'll be a little bit of a catch-up. upon old Keezy who entered the Kiwi Pong competition over the weekend that was run by the ACC. We find out just how well he went. And outside of that, there's going to be a little bit of chat about school. I've absolutely flabbergasted.

3:04Mogi Minogi, my daughter, is going back to school next year, obviously. They've got the school holidays, and I am outraged, outraged by how long her break is. Yes. While at the same time, absolutely thrilled that I get to spend some time with her.

3:17Keyzie:Ludicrous stuff. Hey, big show ahead. Stay tuned in the meantime. Here's Foo Fighters.

3:21Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

3:26Keyzie:The Pixies here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past four o 'clock and our old mate Pugsan, he went to see the Pixies, said they were great fellas. No chit-chat on stage, just banging out the tunes. How good, man. Fellas, I'm fuming. I found out today that my daughter, Mogi Minogi, the first of her kind actually, the only Mogi Minogi in a long line of monogies.

3:53Mike Minogue:Can we not just call her Mogi Junior? I think that gets confusing. Okay, yeah, you're right. Anyway, she goes to school. She's six and a half years at the moment, and she's about to start her school holidays for Christmas. She breaks on the 12th. Okay. The 12th of December. Now that's... Lucky. Yeah, that's about standing. That's pretty good. Yeah, that's pretty early, actually. It's not bad. It's pretty good. Pretty good. But she comes back on the 12th of February. Two months.

4:26Keyzie:It's an outrage. It's an outrage. It's bullshit.

4:33Mike Minogue:Was it always that long? No. No. We used to go back sort of around the 20th, 25th of Jan, give or take, depending on the day of the week there, Kegzee. You know what I'm saying there, brother. Feels like they're really taking the piss out of us now. Yes. That's a lot of learning. And this is the thing that worries me. Obviously, I feel like it's always a treat to hang out with my daughter at any opportunity that I get. But I'm just worried about the learning that she's missing out on. Yes. The learning. Yeah.

5:01Keyzie:When I look back, when I was a little nipper. Yeah. Ah, Christmas holidays, TZ. I was a nuggly little bastard.

5:09Mike Minogue:Yeah, okay.

5:11Keyzie:Our Christmas break was five days for school, and I spent four of those in the mine. Yeah. Right, so what's the 24th of December? Yes, and then we were back five days later.

5:25Mike Minogue:You were back at school on the 29th of December. Yes, that's right. Before our new year.

5:28Keyzie:Yeah, covered in soot.

5:30Mike Minogue:Yeah. What were you mining?

5:32Keyzie:Coal.

5:33Mike Minogue:Oh, coal mining. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, right, because I do recall when I was at high school and intermediate and primary school, I remember it being six weeks. Yes. Six weeks is the amount that I had in my brain. and it always seemed like it was going to go on forever. But two months. Two months is a bloody long time. That's not eight weeks.

5:50Keyzie:That's like nine weeks. And you add on the 50 teacher-only days they have now. Don't get me started. I mean, it's just an outrage. And I remember with all my girls, it was like, it's so great having the time with them and spending time with them, but two months? Yeah. Every day? Can I handle all that joy? is my question. Too much love going on. But I'm just sort of wondering whether it's my school, the school specifically that Mogi Minogi is at, or if other schools are sort of similar to that. So let us know on 3483 how long your school holidays are. And look, what do you do with the little treasures during that time?

6:30Yeah, yeah. I hate it.

6:31Keyzie:Well, this is the thing, Meg. I mean, you've got your own stuff going on. You know, imagine when you've got four of the lovely treasures that they are, and they're yelling and screaming and carrying on and bored and hungry and tired all day, every day for two months. I mean, jeez, I mean, it's a special time, but, I mean, they are treasures. I mean, I'm so lucky. I'm so blessed. Blessed.

7:00Mike Minogue:Jeez, you guys are a couple of grumpy old treasures. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

7:13Keyzie:Talking heads here on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this Monday afternoon. The time is 4.27. Mogi is outraged. Little Mogi Minogi is about to start her Christmas holidays. What was it? The 12th of December through to the 9th of February. Outrageous. Yeah, it's a very long time. Now, look, I understand they have to have holidays, and I'm grateful that they do get holidays, but it seems like eight weeks. It's a long time. Eight weeks is a long time. and then you come straight out of the back of that and somebody says here on the text machine, 3483, you come straight out of the back of the Christmas holidays and you're into the anniversary weekends, Anzac Day and Waitangi Day.

7:50Douche, douche, douche. Yeah, boom, boom, boom.

7:52Mike Minogue:It's weird because I love that we get three public holidays at the end of summer. Oh, yeah, of course. How many kids have you got again? Zero. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So you don't like any public holidays either? Oh, shocking bastards. Surely it's a great chance to catch up and really bond with your offspring. Huh? We've got someone who's keen to join us on the line Tom from the Hawke's Bay G'day mate How are we mate? Yeah Thanks Tom Hey Tom What do you do for a crust man? I'm a school teacher boys Here we go Backbone

8:22Keyzie:Yeah Massive backbone

8:24Mike Minogue:Have you got a bone to pick Tom? I'm just curious that you seem to take humbrage With looking after a couple of frogs You know Over the holidays And teachers have to look after A hundred of the bastards every day Yeah, that's right, man. You're absolutely right. I guess the difference, and Jase, you pointed this out, is that you guys get paid for it. That's true. That's true. But, you know, we're just giving these kids aspiration and hope for a...

8:51Keyzie:Well, don't do that. Yeah, but, I mean, that's not your job, Tom. And, Tom, you know, what's the set-up in your school? When do you break for Christmas? We break on the 12th. Yes.

9:04Mike Minogue:Yeah, but we're back on the 28th of January. So it's the 12th of February. That seems... I can't believe that. That's long, isn't it, mate? That's obscene. I completely agree with you. It is a bloody long time, but it does also feel... Let me go to the name of the show and I'll get my CV, mate. Ah, there you go. There you go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

9:21Keyzie:Because Kesey was saying off air just before that re-teachers he can't believe the amount of time off they get in holidays, and he was fuming, Tom.

9:32Mike Minogue:I get it from my friends as well, eh? Yeah, they're all for teachers until the holidays. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a good point. You hear that, Keezy? Hard out, man. Well, Tom, tell you what, next time you're on holiday, man, which is all the time by the sounds of it, you can enjoy some Reburger, mate, because we're going to send you out a$50 voucher. Oh, you're legend. Thank you so much. That was fantastic. Thanks, brother.

9:52Keyzie:We'll do anything for our teachers, won't we, Phil? Absolutely, and it's an honourable job, without a doubt. But I do just wonder how the goalposts have shifted so much from when we were younger because it was a much shorter period over that summer break.

10:07Mike Minogue:So I'm just looking at a calendar now. It's not another one of those buzzy calendars, is it? I don't even know. Okay, I'll put that one away. I'll get out my phone calendar. There we go. Yeah, it's a shame. I would prefer to use the buzzy calendar. So when would you prefer the holidays start? Should they start December 12th? I think a week before. Before Christmas and 19th. So that's when I'm working till. Yep, Friday the 19th. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so that's where the holidays should start. And then when should they be back at school?

10:34Keyzie:I'm going 5th of Jan.

10:37Mike Minogue:Monday the 5th of Jan, straight back to school.

10:39Keyzie:Yeah, back into it, start learning. You don't think that's too early? Nah, man, get them in there. Right. Well, they love it. They love learning. That's the thing. Really? Our kids love it. Being at home, they don't like it. That's the thing. They'd rather be at school with their mates. That's what I was doing. Yeah, totally. When I was a kid, that's what I prefer. I mean, I think you could get away with even the 23rd, for argument's sake. Oh, you see. I mean, but back on the 26th, sorry, which would be Monday the 26th. Can I just say, too. That for me is what's that? That's six weeks.

11:08Mike Minogue:That's ages. That's heaps.

11:10Keyzie:As a kid, I always found it hard being at home in holidays, too, because I couldn't smoke my durries. Oh, right. You know what I mean? So I'd be hanging out. Oh, God. When does school start again so I can go behind the back of the cricket nets there and smoke a few days? How old were you when you started? Six.

11:26Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

11:33Keyzie:Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is exactly 4.51. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

11:58I watched a movie on Apple TV, fellas. It was called Highest to Lowest, directed by Spike Lee, starring Denzel Washington. The old duo back together again. They've done a few movies together, of course, over the years. This one is about, here's the overview, when a powerful music mogul is targeted by a ransom plot, he is forced to fight for his family and legacy while jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma. Wow. Tough stuff. So he's sort of the head of a Def Jam sort of thing, black music, soul and rap and all sorts of stuff like that. This movie is absolutely atrocious. Wow. It is one of the worst-ridden, worst-acted, worst-directed.

12:44It's so bad, dude. Oh, man. I can't tell you how bad this is.

12:47Mike Minogue:I lost respect for Denzel. Obviously, he's the man. But after Gladiator 2. Oh, yeah. I hated him. I wish people were like, oh, he was robbed. He should have been nominated for an Academy Award. I thought he was terrible. He was horrendous in that film. He was in a completely different film. And obviously he's a legend. Both of those films were shit. He's a legend, obviously. He is. Yeah. He is. He absolutely is. But this is so bad. It's weird because he's a music mogul. And it's set in New York, as all Spike Lee's films are. So you would think it would have that kind of music in it. Like rap. Yes.

13:15All that sort of stuff, which Spike Lee's films always does. Instead, it has some kind of library shit orchestra stuff. It is an abomination, this film. Wow. Do not watch it. I couldn't even get to the end of it. It was so bad. It's got 84 % on Rotten Tomatoes, 5.6 on IMDb. Man, yeah, I was just blown away. I was shocked. So I'd love to hear from somebody who's seen it and liked it. Let me know what I'm missing. It's on Apple TV, and it's called Highest to Lowest.

13:43Mike Minogue:Highest to Lowest. How many buzzies did I find? Is it like half a buzzie? No buzzies. There is nothing I can say that would recommend that you spend a second watching that film. That's how bad that film is. Is that the first ever zero buzzies out of five? I think it might be, actually. It might be, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But I say that, but I also want people to watch it to see if I'm wrong. Okay. You know?

14:02Keyzie:I'm not going to, but I'm going to take your word for it.

14:05Mike Minogue:What does he have to say for you to watch something? Because when he says something's really good, you also won't watch it.

14:10Keyzie:Well, actually, I take umbrage with that, Kesey. Just the other day, my wife said to me, Oh, I said, oh, we should watch blah, blah, blah. And she went, oh, is that another Moogie recommendation, is it? And I went, well, yes, it is, actually. We have similar tastes and stuff. It was Pluribus, wasn't it? It was Pluribus. That would be the thing you watched, yeah. Pluribus.

14:32Mike Minogue:I stand corrected.

14:34Keyzie:So actually, it's the other way around. Right. I often watch what Moogie recommends. And what you recommend, too. What was that? Australian comedy? Middle-class boogie. No, upper middle class Echelon Bogan.

14:48Mike Minogue:No, I watched that at the start of this year and you didn't watch any of it.

14:51Keyzie:It was so good. Jeez, it restored my faith in comedy, that show. If you haven't seen it, upper middle class Echelon Bogan.

15:04Mike Minogue:We've been... Yeah, how many buzzies do you give it? Five? Echelon Bogan? Yeah, man. 4.7 buzzies? Hell yeah. Did you watch anything over the weekend? Not really, to be honest. Yeah, I can tell. Do you want to know what I watched? Yeah, always, man. Love it. Love it. There's a British comedy sitcom. We've been watching it for a wee while. How could you resist with the British? Well, it's just the best comedy. It is. I agree. Yeah. It's called Here We Go, and there's three seasons of it on TVNZ Plus, and we're probably averaging one episode a week, just every now and then a little 25-minute episode.

15:38Dip your toe, man.

15:40Mike Minogue:Every now and then they have an episode where it's really stressful. Not for me. I think it's entertaining, but my wife gets stressed out by it. She's, oh my God, it's so stressful, how useless they are. Right. It was one of those last night where they all got locked inside their house. Right. And then ironically, they were late to an escape room that they had booked. You know, funny plot. They couldn't even escape their own house. Yeah, I get it. But she was getting really stressed out because it was just like, why don't they just do this, this, this, and this, and they just wouldn't do it? Yeah.

16:05Mike Minogue:So I give the show a good four buzzies out of five. That episode, though, a bit too stressful, three out of five. Here we go, TVNZ+. Copy that.

16:12Keyzie:Good stuff. Siri, here we go. TVNZ Plus. TVNZ Plus, please. Remind me tonight at about 8.30.

18:06Keyzie:Yum.

18:07Mike Minogue:I like them all. Really?

18:10Keyzie:I was saying to Pugsan today, has he made another one? Because I love them so much. And he had. He lied to me. He said, no, I haven't. But he lied, didn't he? Because he was the swimming one that you played earlier. Really good. Incidentally, fellas, just another reminder, please. If you could send me your account, Deets, so I can pay you that money I owe you. I've already told you I don't want it. The payment for me of that$50 is you shutting up about it. That's how I want my$50. Okay.

18:38Mike Minogue:The payment for mine, I really want you to double down on it and just go on and on and on.

18:44Keyzie:And never, ever get it.

18:45Mike Minogue:And never, ever get it.

18:46Keyzie:Right, that's it. What? Tonight, I'm going to get some Reburger. Right. And you're going to pay me, what, a hundy? Is that right? What? You wanted to double down? He wants to double down. Yeah. He won't do it.

19:01Mike Minogue:The original bet was you saying that you're going to get Reburger and I said, I bet 50 bucks you're not going to go get it. No, I said I bet 50 bucks and you said I'll double that. Yeah. Yeah. So, 200. It's been over a week. You still haven't had any Reburger. Yes, I have.

19:12Keyzie:No, you haven't. Yes, I have. No, you haven't.

19:15Mike Minogue:Where's the proof?

19:16Keyzie:In my gut. The proof is in the pudding. I mean, I'm not going to bring my stool in for you to sort of flick through to sort of confirm that I've had it, fellas. I wouldn't flick through it. I'd rather just see your receipts, if that's all good, rather than go through your feces. Why would you flick through it like a book? No, with like a pen or something. A pen? Just to see. You can't write with a pen after it's got feces on it. You can, you know, actually.

19:40Mike Minogue:Actually, screw it. Bring it in. I want to check. Stone Temple Pilots?

19:44Keyzie:Yes, I think so.

19:46Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

19:54Keyzie:Dudes. On the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon, the time being 17 minutes past five o 'clock. Fellas, you know how I'm always sending you guys dick pics? Yes. I saw something in the news today that makes me think Maybe there's something wrong with it. Really? Yeah. Is it breaking news? No. Okay. Oh, maybe it is. I don't know. Yeah, sure it is.

20:20This is Breaking News. There's a fellow that works for the New Zealand Defence Force. I assume he's in the Army or something like that. But he's quite high up there. Anyway, he's seen a photo of his... Dude. Dude. dude, to somebody. And apparently it was consensual. So the other person was like, hey, have you got any of those photos of your... handy? And if so, can you send one through? Well, he's done it, but he's taken a photo of his... while he is in full uniform, sans pants and shoes. So no pants or shoes on? No pants or shoes on, but he has got his... there for all to see and he's fully in uniform with his insignias, his rank, his name is on the front as well.

21:08I'm not going to name him here. I don't think it's any of my business. But it was fully consensual. But there's a bit of an uproar because people think that he shouldn't have been promoted to the next job that he got. And I was thinking to myself, jeez, if I was going to get stopped from being promoted every time I've seen a dick, Pete. Yeah. I mean, jeez. Yeah, yeah.

21:28Mike Minogue:Well, that's the thing, right, because, you know, the news these days is full of sickos. Every day you click through, there's sickos on there. I read this article about this guy, and I think he's not even being a sicko. He's obviously sending it to his partner. Consensual. That person was after a photo of us downstairs. Thank you.

21:45Keyzie:Do you have one on hand at the moment? Absolutely hanging out for one.

21:48Mike Minogue:And he says, no, but I'm just in my uniform, but I could just drop trowel and do one here. Yeah, yeah. Please. In hand. Because the headline that I'm seeing says, as an army boss sent a dick pic in uniform, it didn't stop him getting a top job. That, to me, makes it seem like it's to somebody that didn't want to receive it. But it was consensual.

22:05Keyzie:Yeah, and the other thing, the thing that I did consider in this was maybe it was an army issue phone. Oh, yes. And they went, you can't, fellas, you can't be sending dick pics. On your army phone. Yeah, it's like you on the computer there, Keezy, at work. You have to be very careful, don't you? about what you're sort of looking at. What, this one here? Especially the recommendations that Mogi gives us. Hey, Keezy, look at this.

22:32Mike Minogue:I've got them blocked. Oh, you have blocked them?

22:34Keyzie:Good idea.

22:34Mike Minogue:I don't even look at them. See, and that's the thing. I don't think that really is a huge piece of news. A huge what? It might have been. It's a huge piece of news. I didn't see it, but it doesn't seem to me like it's a huge piece of news. You know, look, neither do I. Look, there's some things that deserve people being fired, but I don't think we can be complaining about that, can we? Yeah.

22:54Keyzie:Hey, I was just thinking it's kind of appropriate, you know, that he's in the army, sends a dick pic standing to attention.

23:02Mike Minogue:Oh, have you seen it?

23:04Keyzie:Yes. Well, I asked him if he had one handy. Oh, so it was you? It was you. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Oh, wow. Yeah. And what did you want it for? Oh, just to look at. Just to have.

23:18Mike Minogue:Oh, wow, okay.

23:19Keyzie:So I had no issue with it. You liked it.

23:22Mike Minogue:It was pretty impressive. Did you ask for him to be wearing his medals and stuff? Hell yeah. And what did you send him back? A salute. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

23:37Keyzie:Kings of Leon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon.

23:42Mike Minogue:You sound weird. Have you got a mouth full of chips or something?

23:44Keyzie:What? Come on, Keezy. Fellas, got a bit of a confession to make. recently. I don't know how it actually ended up happening, but I had Kiwis, Kiwis, Keezy's.

24:06Keyzie:Keezy's golf bag in the back of my car.

24:08Mike Minogue:That's right, because it was last week when we were playing that game out down in Pakuranga, I believe it was, Windrose, and I was going in with the Hauraki team in a smaller vehicle. So the night before I was like, Jase, can I just chuck my clubs in your car? You just bring them out. Makes sense.

24:22Keyzie:Yeah, and then I took them home after the match as well. But I'd forgotten that your car had been broken into

24:29Mike Minogue:and your trundler had been stolen before. Yes. So that was something I completely forgot about.

24:33Keyzie:Well, that was the first thing that annoyed me because I got home and I was like, I was going to leave them in the car there, Moke, and I went, oh, it's West Auckland, man. It's a wild, wild west. I can't afford to get Kesey's beloved club stolen. And so I took his bag out of my car and it was just sitting in my sun lounge there. And I'm a curious fellow. And his one has got so many more pockets than my one. And so I was just curious. You went through my bag. I have to admit that I had a bit of a tutu, a bit of a look, a look-see in his bag. And, jeez, it was kind of scarring. and some of the stuff I found in his little pockets really shook me up, to be honest.

25:19Mike Minogue:Sounds like you found a few of my scorecards.

25:24Keyzie:Yeah, a couple of those. Yeah, shocking. In one side pocket there was like a penthouse and a Mayfair all stuck together and just these horrendous old porn magazines and I was like, what a weird place to stash them, you know what I mean?

25:41Mike Minogue:Totally. That's a really weird place to sit down. Why would you put them there?

25:44Keyzie:I don't know. Why not under the mattress or something like that? Just go through everything else that you found in there, and at the end we'll ask Keezy why. Okay. This one sort of shook me up a bit. It was just where they keep the tees, his wedding ring. And I was like, what? Why is his wedding ring in his golf bag?

26:02Mike Minogue:So just confirming I'm not allowed to say anything until he's finished saying everything. I think that makes sense. It's just the easiest way to do it. Two porn bags that were stuck together and my wedding ring. Yes. Okay, sure.

26:12Keyzie:And then another one on another little side pocket, a little hippie of whiskey. Yeah. A little hip flask. Yeah. A couple of empty ones in there as well. Yeah. Empty hip flasks. Yes. Opened up another one, some edible connies. Edible connies? Is that a thing? Why? Are they flavoured? Like rubber joeys are you talking about? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The flavoured, I think it was. Flavoured joeys. Yeah, flavoured banana. I mean, if you're going to go for a flavoured Connie. Go Reburger, man. Yeah, why would you go banana of all sort of things? And just in the other sort of side pocket, there was just a lot of sort of damp tissues.

27:00Keyzie:Right, is that all you found? Yeah, and balls and teas and stuff. Oh, you said there was some golf stuff. Yeah, there was some golf stuff, there was in there. I was going to say you should have, you should sort of speak to this, Keezy, but we've run out of time.

27:16Mike Minogue:Well, to be honest, all I was going to say is get your frigging hands out of my golf bag. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

27:26Keyzie:REM there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. We've got some people to put in the draw, fellas, for the Alter Ego Fest tickets.

27:38Mike Minogue:That's right. But iHeartRadio, Alter Ego, it's happening in LA, January 17, 2026 at the Kia Forum. Some of the biggest names in alternative rock. We're talking Green Day, Sublime, Cage the Elephant, plenty more as well. All you have to do is listen out for that cue to call, which did just play. So let's go to the lines there, feelers. Kyla, you mad bastard. How's life? Hey, how's it going?

27:59Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, Kyla. What do you do for a crust, Kyla?

28:04Mike Minogue:I'm an operations manager. Oh, bad man.

28:08Keyzie:And you like your gigs, do you?

28:11Mike Minogue:Most of the time. Yeah, yeah, nice. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. Oh, yeah, what about going to gigs? Oh, yeah, no, we do like to go to gigs. My daughter's a massive Green Day fan, and she's sitting here in the car. Oh, look, who isn't? She's super excited to be in the draw. And what's her name? Her name's Tilly. Tilly. Tilly. Congrats, Tilly, you mad bastard. You're in the draw. Yeah, you're in the draw. Yeah, well done, Tilly. Nah, so you hold the line there and Kyla and old Pugsan will grab your details. Let's also go to who we got there? Tracy. Tracy. Tracy. How you doing, man?

28:52Keyzie:How you doing? Yeah, good afternoon. Yeah, good afternoon, Tracy. What do you do for a crust? As little as possible. Yeah. Good one, you mad bone. That's a good attitude to have, especially as we're heading into summer, eh, Tracy? Well, we need it, don't we? We need it. Tracy, between you and me, a few beers, brother? Yeah, why not?

29:11Mike Minogue:Yeah, good on you, Tracy. I tell you what, mate, you're also in the draw to head over to LA, all right? Oh, nice one.

29:17Keyzie:Thanks, men. No worries, mate. Good on you, Tracy. Tracy gets it, man. We may as well chuck another one in the draw. Yeah, I think so, Keith. What have we got there? Should we give it to Tracy again?

29:26Mike Minogue:No, we've got Seth from Auckland on the line. Seth, g'day, how are you going? Not too bad on yourself, fellas? Yeah, good, thanks, Seth. Can't complain, man.

29:33Keyzie:Yeah, no, life's tickety-boo. What do you do for a crust, Seth? Do a bit of a diesel mechanic for a crust. This guy gets it too. Bang, bang, douche, douche, drill, drill.

29:47Mike Minogue:Yeah, you know it. Yeah, that's pretty much what sums up being a diesel mechanic, isn't it? All right, Seth, so if we chuck you in the draw and you happen to win this prize, mate, going to LA, seeing these bands, who would you take with you? Got to be my girlfriend. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Get her on your shoulder. at the gig. For two day brother. And if she can't make it then I'll be the best mate. Yeah. My missus is my best mate so that's weird. But Seth, hey, congrats mate. You're in the draw. Cheers, thank you very much. I love you, Seth. Thanks, mate. Good on you, Seth.

30:18Keyzie:I like the name, Seth. Really? It's a good name. She's got a bit of a mad dog about it, doesn't she? Yeah. Seth. Is your wife your best mate? Is she, Keezy?

30:27Mike Minogue:Yeah.

30:29Keyzie:That's nice, man.

30:31Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

30:35Keyzie:Space Hog there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this Monday afternoon.

30:40Mike Minogue:Fellas, I followed some advice of old mogies over the weekend. Oh, Jesus. What the hell were you thinking, Keezy? Genuinely the first time I've ever done it. Yes. Didn't go well. Right. Got a phone call from my wife, fuming. Yep. She's like, who the hell thought that would be a good idea? And then I was like, old mogie, and she's like, classic. I had tree sap on my pants

31:05Keyzie:Oh yes You and this tree sap man

31:09Mike Minogue:Honestly Sticky bastard And like cutting that Cutting the branches off the tree last week And letting it fall on Some clothes I actually want to wear again Was one of the worst mistakes I've made Yeah I can't believe you did that My advice here would be To use old clothes Yeah That you don't mind getting tree sap on See that's good advice Are you going to follow that advice?

31:26Keyzie:I've got gardening sort of clothes That I just chuck on when I'm gardening

31:30Mike Minogue:Yeah right

31:30Keyzie:They've got pictures of birds and shit. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah.

31:33Mike Minogue:That makes sense. But yeah, so I was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, some shorts, both covered in tree sap, couldn't get the tree sap off. Mogi, in his infinite wisdom, fired up ChatGPT and found out the way to get rid of it is to put a solvent on it. Well, specifically isopropyl. Isopropyl alcohol. That's right. Yeah, you're right. And that's not what you did, is it, Kudy? Nah. You thought you'd go with something that was kind of close enough, but not what Mogi said. and then blame Mogi for not following the instructions. It was like isopropyl alcohol or if not, it was like you could potentially put these things on.

32:08Mike Minogue:And I was like, I don't actually, I went and checked my isopropyl alcohol fresh out. Right. The bottle had obviously leaked or something. That was all gone. Jeez, if you didn't have any of that, I wouldn't have gone for anything else. That would have been shocking. Yeah. You would have ruined your shorts, did you? No, it turns out Terps doesn't ruin shorts. Oh, good. So I put Terps on my shorts and scrubbed it and then put Terps on my... Shirt. I'm like, thanks Jase, shirt I couldn't remember the word shirt I scrubbed that as well Yeah And now all of our clothes smell like turps Did you run it through the washing machine?

32:43Yeah Yeah, you shouldn't have done that That's shocking You should have called me, Kesey What are you thinking?

32:47Mike Minogue:Really?

32:47Keyzie:I would have let them soak So like all your wife's stuff as well

32:51Mike Minogue:All of our clothes smell like turps Oh, that's right I remember you said that I put them in there with Like undies and stuff like But yes, Jase, other clothing, like mostly my undies.

33:02Keyzie:Okay. But like your other stuff, you know, everyone's clothes. Yeah, everyone's clothes, 100%.

33:08Mike Minogue:They all smell like turps. Yeah, right. And now she's like, why do our clothes smell like turps? And I was like, oh, Mogey gave us a terrible advice. Right, so you lied to your wife to get away with the fact that you had a shocker. You're shocking, bro.

33:25Mike Minogue:The Horaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

33:31Keyzie:Welcome back here, mad bastards. Hope your Monday night's going along very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Ree-Burger.

33:39Mike Minogue:Skirving good times and good feud. Dine in or take away Ree-Burger today. 1-1-1, what's your emergency? I'm sorry, I really need help. I just think it's really important that everyone knows just how delicious Reeburger is because obviously their stuff's handcrafted and they do these loaded fries and gourmet. I just know that people know that they're changing the game because it's so, yeah! That idiot should be arrested for wasting police time. I agree with that actually. Now that's fine, we all know Reeburger's delicious and everyone should have it,

34:19Keyzie:but you don't waste 1-1-1 time. Yeah. Idiot. That's not okay as far as I'm concerned. Well, what was he expecting? And I know they'll run off their feet, those people. You know what I mean? Very busy. Reburger, because they're so popular. Very busy down there. Not on. Okay, yeah. That was very confusing.

34:39Mike Minogue:Mogi, in the middle of our yard, just stood up, threw a rugby ball across the room and sat back down again.

34:43Keyzie:We're like, what the hell was that? That was some of the most ridiculous shit I've ever seen. Weird. I just had Mike Hosking, the puppet over there, staring at me, and I wanted to hit him in his vacant eye there. Yeah, it is slightly off-putting.

34:55Mike Minogue:Also, we have a puppet of Mike Hosking in the room. This is very confusing for the audience. Yes, with a hole for an eye. But regardless, I appreciate the person's attempt to get more people along to eat some Ree Burger, because, jeez, it's good, man. Yeah, it's delicious stuff. Actually. Oh, Jase. I'm not interested. What? Do you like Everclear? The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

35:23Keyzie:Yes, indeed. The Killers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening now, isn't it, fellas?

35:30Mike Minogue:It certainly is, Jase. Do you like cheers? What kind? I'm a big fan of hip-hip-hoorays. Oh, yeah. Yeehaws. What about when you've both got a drink and then you knock your glasses together? Cheers. I like the sitting ones as well. Oh, yeah. That's kind of the one I was talking about. Yeah, right. It's like a style of chair. Oh, right, okay. Like a recliner. Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah. Because you might have noticed in the corner of the studio there is a brand new Lazy Boy Neo X power recliner. Yes. Have you noticed that?

36:00Keyzie:Is that a power recliner?

36:02Mike Minogue:It is.

36:02Keyzie:I've noticed Moggy power reclining on it often.

36:05Mike Minogue:Yeah. The reason it's a power recliner is because it has controls on the side, Moggy. You're the one that's been using it. Well, I'll tell you what it's got. It's got a remote control. So normally you just have the controls on it, and maybe it does, but all I can feel when I reach down there is a remote control that you can take out and then recline with. Yeah. I don't know why that you don't just have it on the side, and maybe it is also on the side.

36:25Keyzie:It's also got an iPad holding thing. It does, and a drink holder. And a drink holder. And I think what is also a phone charger.

36:33Mike Minogue:So here's the full list of Neo X Power recliner features, all right? And it's got a seat. Cutting, it has got a seat, Mogi, well done. Cutting edge comfort technology for ultimate relaxation in every seat. I guess that's if you've got the couch version. Hands-free wireless remote lets you recline effortlessly. No effort. Yeah. No effort whatsoever. I think the problem with that is if you're anything like me, you're going to lose that. But I think there's also another option there. But it sort of sticks in there pretty snugly. The built-in wireless charging pad keeps devices powered and ready. Yeah, see?

37:05Mike Minogue:iPhone and iPad holders ensure entertainment is always at hand. Yeah. Cup holders keep drinks secure while you kick back. iconic Lazy Boy rocker and power recline features included, adjustable headrest, lumbar support for personalised comfort, Neo X combined style, tech and Lazy Boy comfort. The lumbar support is out of this world.

37:25Keyzie:It sounds like the kind of chair where they're trying to design it so you never get out of it again. You know what I mean? So you just turn into an enormous sloth. You become part of the chair. You become part of the chair and people just bring you drinks and stuff.

37:39Mike Minogue:Yeah, it just needs a bog built into it so you never have to get off it. We are celebrating... Poos. We've teamed up with Lazy Boy to celebrate the launch of the new Neo X Power Recliner in New Zealand. If you are keen to win this exact chair, the one that Moggy sits in all the time and Jase says poos about a lot, then text the word LAZY to 3483. Get yourself in the drawer and we'll be dishing that sucker out to someone soon. And just to be certain, Keezy, that's an L-A-Z-Y because I know Lazy Boy, they've got a different spelling of lazy traditionally. That's a really good point, Moggy. Lazy Boy.

38:11Mike Minogue:It's spelled L-A-D-A-S-H-A-Y. But text lazy, the word lazy, L-A-Z-Y to 3483. Long live the lazy.

38:23Keyzie:I'm looking at that now, actually. I might get one of those in my house just to, you know, chill out, eat my crackers. Crackers. Watch my mukbang videos.

38:34Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

38:38Keyzie:David Bowie there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Monday evening. Let's give out some advice. Meet Paddy Nips 69 at gmail.com.

38:53Mike Minogue:Get in touch with the fellas. It is a real email address. Meet Paddy Nips 69 at gmail.com. Please stop signing us up for various newsletters. I've just unsubscribed from about 20. Yeah, right. But if you need advice on anything, 100 % anonymous and if we read it out on the show, you get a$50 Reburger voucher. This one comes from Anonymous.

39:12Keyzie:Are we still signed up to Pornhub?

39:14Mike Minogue:No, no. Because they didn't go all the way with that because we had to type in a verification number that they emailed to us. Yeah. Pugsy was fuming about that. And Pugsy was trying to put the code in. Did he just put his own in? But he accidentally put his own in, so he's now signed up. Okay, sweet. But he seemed stoked about it. G'day, fellas. I'm in a bit of a pickle and I need some advice. My partner and I have been together for 10 years and have a beautiful 10-month-old daughter. My daughter, Anonymous Junior, is an absolute gem of a baby, sleeps through the night, loves all the food we chuck at her and is just a backbone.

39:47Mike Minogue:My daughter has essentially convinced my partner that if we have more babies, they will be just like her. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter very much and I'm more than happy to practice making a baby, but I'm not convinced that the next baby will be a little shit? What if they grow up and all they want to do is film me working on their car and brag that they did it on social media? Yeah, that's a hellish thought. Any advice from you? Feelers would be great. P.S. My missus hates the show but thinks Hoity J sounds hot. I told her he's 39. Lol. Lol? Yeah.

40:18Keyzie:Well, that's a very good question. It is really, isn't it? My daughters came at such a rate that I never really had to sort of ponder that question. And it had been a busy day as well. And it had been a busy day. My eldest was pretty chill. My second born was, she was a bit more taxing as a baby. Right. In terms of sleep and all that sort of stuff. Third was very chill. Fourth was very chill.

40:45Mike Minogue:So when you had your second one, the second one was a bit more full on. Yes. Just as you were like, hey, maybe we shouldn't have another kid. There was already another kid pretty much being born. Yeah. Traditionally. Pretty much. Traditionally, they're never going to be the same. Are they? No. Traditionally, you get one that's one way. It might be a shocker. And then the next one is all good. Mine was all good, but not enough to make me want to have another one. Yeah, right. I did want another one for a long time. It would have been great. Yes. For now, you know.

41:13Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. Well, I was very lucky in the sense that pretty much overall all of my girls were pretty chill.

41:19Mike Minogue:Right, so you're saying it is possible to have four chill girls? Very, very possible. I mean, they're not chill now. I think you should, if you're going to do it, do it now. Get it done. Yes. It was sweet, mate. Everybody, you know, people have kids all the time. Your sweet ass. Get over and done with now. It'll suck. And honestly, it's going to suck for about four years. You were quite colicky, aren't you, Keezy? That's just how it is, man. It's just going to suck.

41:42Keyzie:Is colic like a cough? Yeah, yeah. You used to spew up your buzzy milk all the time. Yeah, exactly. On your mum's shoulder there.

41:49Mike Minogue:Quite the opposite, Jason. I don't know who you're thinking of. Maybe Pugs. But apparently I just drank buzzy milk and slept and that was it. And just put it away like a legend. Yeah, man.

41:57Keyzie:Backbone. Actually, that makes sense, Keezy. Scalded and passed out. That's right. I've seen you in the pub. So, yeah, know that?

42:04Mike Minogue:Yeah, I scull buzzy milk in the pub and then sleep a lot. Yeah, just do it, man. I think that's good advice. Yeah, just do it. Yeah. You say for four years it's going to be hell, but there must be some enjoyable parts of it. Oh, yes. Not really, though. Yeah. I mean, before it gets really good and they become their own people and are a bit more independent and you're not having to carry around, you know, you don't have to buy a car to take all of the stuff around that you need for them times two. Like, it's a hurr of a thing to do. I tell you what, it really is. And it does get better and it does get good, but you've got no idea how hard it is.

42:38The admin. Absolutely none. It's not an admin, Keezy. It doesn't matter how much I say it or whatever, you're going to go, man, you said there's a lot of admin. You've got no idea.

42:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, right, okay. So your advice is to get it over and done with, and it's a lot of admin. Because it's too late now. Yeah, right, okay. If you have one, you might as well have two. Get it done.

42:55Keyzie:Does that make you feel more or less like having little Keezy's Keezy? It doesn't really impact me at all. Because it's going to happen regardless. Yeah, it is what it is.

43:05Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

43:20Keyzie:There you go, you mad bass. It's the Big Show done and dusted for your Monday night. What's the podcast outro clip today, Keezy? That was one of the best we've ever done. The outro? Yeah, it was pretty good today. It was not as filthy as it's been in the last few days. Oh, no, actually, it did get filthy. It did get filthy, yeah. And I was thinking we should have put a warning on it. Do you think so? I thought we should have.

43:42Mike Minogue:That's like three warnings in the last five podcasts. That's a lot. But it wasn't as bad as the other, so I don't think you guys thought it was as bad, but I was thinking, jeez, I wouldn't want my kids to listen to this in the car. So just if you are listening to it, and obviously this isn't at the front of the podcast, but if it were, it would be saying, don't listen to this with the kids around. Shocking. Yeah, okay. Shocking. I can't remember anything we said, by the way. No, neither can I. Well, here's a clip. The potty comes out tonight at 7.30, but this clip is entitled Stitch Up. A glass might have been smashed on the ground and then Minaya's missus took a photo of it and then sent it to my missus who was in bed saying, come get your mans, he's making a mess.

44:20Mike Minogue:And then my wife called me and was like, I'm coming to pick you up. And I was like, what? Why are you going to pick me up? I'm going to get a lift home soon. with Isaac? She's like, okay, are you sure you're all good? I was like, yeah. Far out. It's no good when people you're hanging out with are texting your missus because they want you out of the group. Oh, no.

44:37Keyzie:There's a hell of a stitcher.

44:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's a shocker, Keiji. Well, it's not actually a shocker. It was all in good fun. Oh, yeah. You were laughing at that. Yeah, I was laughing. I was cracking up.

44:48Keyzie:Yeah, a few smashed glasses. It doesn't matter. Yeah, who cares? The waitress didn't seem

44:51Mike Minogue:that bothered.

44:52Keyzie:No, exactly.

44:53Mike Minogue:She was pretty chill, actually.

44:54Keyzie:Hey, Mogi, What's your plans for the night? I'm going to ride my push bike home, man. Ride my push bike around, man. I'll talk to you about that tomorrow. My bicycle there. You're refurbished. My healing 10 speed. I'm enjoying my evenings at the moment. They go quite late. Yes. They go quite late. So that'll be a bit of me, man. And I'll probably watch something on the old telly. I don't know, man. Just chilling in the evenings, man. That's me. Nice. What about you?

45:20Mike Minogue:What's for tea, Keezy? Well, my wife's got touch tonight. so I'm making chicken, spicy chicken wraps. Wraps? Like burritos. Yeah, I know them. But I'm just sort of freestyling them. Oh, you're all... See, I can't do that when I'm cooking, eh? I need to have the recipe. Can you make a wrap without sort of having any kind of recipe? Yeah, yeah, you can sort of just freestyle a wee bit. As long as you've got a few veggies and stuff in there. Like carrots. Yeah. You're a crazy bastard, man. Ah, not broccoli, no. Squash. No, not a squash. It's Tuesday night. It's not as easy as you made it out. What are you doing tonight, Jase?

45:53Mike Minogue:banana. I'm not going to put banana in my wrap.

45:57Keyzie:What am I doing tonight? I'm very much in the mogi mode. Sort of chilling, just hanging out, you know, eating a bit of food. Is that mogi mode? Is that just me, man? Just chatting. Hanging with your missus and that. Watching a bit of TV. Might make myself some spicy chicken wraps. Oh! Yeah, yeah, just chuck a bit of stuff in there. Is that right? Can you do that without a recipe as well? Totes, man. Oh, man. Yeah, yeah, it's going to be delicious. Breast or thigh? Always thigh,

46:25Mike Minogue:See you tomorrow at four.
