In short

The Hauraki Big Show’s “Spotify Wrapped” segment (“Friday Throbber”), where hosts count down their most-played songs of 2025, then reveal and play their #1 tracks. They also run the “Big Bet” with a betting caller, do TV/radio chat, and announce listener competitions (Alter Ego LA trip; Backbone Bench Winner Breakers tickets).

Guests

No named guests appear in-studio; the show is hosted by Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue, and Keezy (Keyzie/Mogi). Guest callers include Gary (betting), Dilly (betting expert), Lee and Eric (Throbber votes), Ava and Jackson (Alter Ego draw), and Matt (Backbone Bench Winner).

Key claims

Spotify Wrapped is fun despite dislike of Spotify; the Throbber winner is determined by listener votes; Jase’s “Still” (Luke Sattell Singh) won the Throbber.

Notable examples

Keezy’s “Texas Sun” (Karangbin & Leon Bridges) and Mogi’s “Spitting Off the Edge of the World” (Year, Year, Years) were their #1s; Jase’s “Still” is described as long (~14 minutes) and “depressing” by some listeners.

0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger.

0:09Keyzie:Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. G'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company this blustery Friday afternoon, the 5th of December 2025. And you my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger Gear.

0:29Mike Minogue:Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Re-beg, yeah, redefining the norm.

0:34Keyzie:Ah, that's really quite yummy. I don't like that one. Ah, really? I feel like Pugs aren't, that was a half-assed effort there. Ah, that's really quite yummy. I reckon he spent hours on that. G'day, Moggy, you stallion, how's life? Going pretty grassy, you mad dog, you're sick. Shit, it's cold. Is it? It's been cold, man. It was cold last night. It was cold today, cold yesterday. Look, I'm a little bit filthy about the weather. I feel like this is going to be the summer. It's going to be blustery, wet. It's going to be sunny. It's going to be just mad weather all summer long, and I'm not happy about it.

1:12Well, nobody's got a better idea of what the weather's going to do than old hoity JizzBot. I'll tell you that much. That's true. I'll tell you that much for free, Keezy. Ah, thanks, man. Old JizzBot knows his weather, man. I've got a really good app.

1:25Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm going good, thanks, fellas

1:27Keyzie:Well, I tell you what, Keezy You are looking You're looking a bitcher You've got a nice new do there Cleanly shaved Beautiful fade A bit of boof at the top there And a really smart, sensible corporate sort of short-sleeved shirt

1:43Mike Minogue:This is not a corporate short-sleeved shirt This is my, it's summer and I'm going to a barbecue shirt Are you going to a barbecue? Are you going to a barbecue? I'm not I just saw it on the rack there and thought, ah, put that on Good vibes for the fellas.

1:55Keyzie:It's got like a 70s collar too, which is kind of cool.

1:58Mike Minogue:You have a really good way of making all of my outfits sound terrible. You've got your turkey shirt on, man. Gobble, gobble. Yeah, gobble, gobble, fellas. Mambo. I don't really know how to say this, but there's a couple of little bits on there, Kiz, and you'll be able to see it. They look like nutsacks. You know how a turkey has... Yes, they do. What part of the turkey? Is that the head of the turkey, or is it like the hanging down? Is it the thing, the underneath thingy? Yeah, what's that called? It's like the jowls. The gobble gobble.

2:26Keyzie:Yeah, something like that. The wattle? Oh, maybe. Is it a wattle? Maybe. We could Google it. Hey, huge show. It's a Friday. We're all just aching for the weekend, but we're going to do a good show in between. What's coming up on the show, Mogi?

2:43Keyzie:What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogi? Well, I'll tell you once again, fellas, we've got an opportunity to get into the draw for the biggest music festival in the world that's going to be happening in LA. Couldn't tell you the name of it. Alter Ego. There we go. So that's coming up. We've also got the Throbber, obviously, fellas, which is going to be huge among us. A big Throbber. It's a huge one because we're going to be talking about our Spotify wrapped, guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, let me just first of all say Spotify sucks, but this wrapped thing I quite enjoy.

3:15Mike Minogue:Same here. Yeah, so the Throbber today is going to be each of our most played songs on our Spotify rep. The number one Spotify rep on each. It's just got to be it, and we're playing it. Don't think any of us are hugely happy about it. No, mine's not a Throbber. Neither is mine. Oh, mine's certainly not a Throbber, fellas.

3:34Keyzie:Oh, God. I can promise you that. I'll probably be fired once the bosses hear my little choices. Do you want to hear a Throbber?

3:42Mike Minogue:Yeah. Oh, you know what? The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

3:48Keyzie:Green day there on the Radio Hauraki. Big show this Friday afternoon. The West Indies currently 116 for four, chasing 531. Bellas. This is exciting stuff. Spotify wrapped has come out. Came out yesterday. Everybody, every radio station in the world will be doing this today. Spotify, obviously, one of the worst companies on the face of the universe. Disgrace. They're shocking. I feel shame for even having an account. But nevertheless, this has got a bit of interest to it. So what we thought we'd do today, fellas, is we're going to count down our top four most played songs of the year each. We'll go four, three, two.

4:25We're going to do that now. And then our number one will be played as our throbber.

4:30Mike Minogue:At five o 'clock. And so we want you, the audience, to judge us on who has got the best slash worst taste. That's right. You can text us on 3483 every text, no matter how positive or negative. In the draw for a$50 re-burger voucher. That's right. So, look, I don't think, look, you're here to be judged. We're here to be judged. Shall we start with mine there, Keezy? All right. My number four song. All right, number four. Number four? Number four. All right, here we go.

5:06That's mountains. Very hurricane. From the foals. Now, the reason why that's in there, given it came out probably 15 years ago, the reason for that is because I've got a playlist, and that's in my playlist, and whenever I can't think of anything to play, I just play my old playlist. Right, okay. So that one sort of gets thrashed. Right. This one, I don't even know how to pronounce it. Number three.

5:28Keyzie:Mwaki. Mwaki.

5:43Mike Minogue:That's a tune. That is a tune. That's a good tune. I love that tune. All right, so that's your number three. That's my number three. Now, my number two, I thought would have been my number one. This is a pop song.

5:59Mike Minogue:I don't even know this song.

6:06Who's that? That is D. Joe. Joe? Joe. It is. That song, I cannot tell you how much. That's not necessarily in my wheelhouse. That is one of my all-time favourite songs. I have thrashed the hell out of it. I can't believe it's not my number one. I love that song unashamedly. Brilliant, brilliant song.

6:28Mike Minogue:All right. So that is Moggy's three song choices there. Let us know, 3483, what you think of his taste in music. This is my number four most played song there, Feelers. This is going to be a disaster. Not yours It's just LAB in the air Every playlist I make this song is in it Just because it's an absolutely cracking song Also I'm Apple Music not Spotify Yeah good on your back man Troy Kingy Funny you say that This song has been in my most played for at least a decade I think

7:06Mike Minogue:Marvin Gaye what's going on man Yeah, man.

7:13Mike Minogue:I used to love that. Even when I was a kid, they had the Marvin Gaye album Best Of, and I used to thrash it. This is my second most played song of 2025.

7:27Mike Minogue:Paul and Oates. I can't go for that, man, just because it's got the sickest beat out of any song ever made.

7:33Keyzie:I feel like I'm revealing too many secrets here.

7:36Mike Minogue:Right, okay.

7:37Keyzie:Because this is going to be brutal. Right, okay. And, I mean, you can judge me, but, you know, this is just me chilling, man.

7:46Mike Minogue:Right, so you've heard my three songs, 3483. Feel free to give me your opinions. This is Jase. This is your fourth most played song of the year, Jase. Yes.

8:04Mike Minogue:What's that? Who's that? Bootstraps. That's a good tune. Bootstraps, Haywire. Yes. Right, okay. Number three for Jase.

8:22Keyzie:Split screen, Kings of Leon. There you go. Oh, Kings of Leon.

8:25Mike Minogue:There you go. Yeah, far out. It's all kind of down buzz, isn't it? Oh, that? Look, yeah. Jase, if you and I were drinking in our 20s, I know exactly how it would go. we would be in our own bedrooms drinking red wine listening to depressing music. Yes.

8:39Keyzie:100 % empowering through darts. Yes. This one's pretty predictable, actually. Deftones. Yeah, 100%.

8:52I thought that would be your number one or certainly a Deftones. Yeah. Deftones is sort of a number.

9:00Mike Minogue:So that's sex tape. The number one songs for each of us will be the throbbit for this afternoon. So feel free to let us have your feedback on 3483. Who's got the worst taste? Who's got the best taste? Every text in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. And we will also reveal what our listening age is. I don't think you can, Kesey, because you're on Apple. But Jason and I will be able to reveal our listening age.

9:22Keyzie:Oh, I don't actually know that. It's quite a cool thing. I'll show you on your app there. But, yeah. Look, hit us up on 3483 and just tell us how much you love us.

9:32Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, I know, yeah. Here's the chillies. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

9:44Keyzie:The police there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.29 and the West Indies 1.29 for four, chasing 5.31.

9:54Mike Minogue:Very good, Jase. We've just gone through our Spotify wrapped. I'm Apple Music and we hate Spotify. It sucks.

9:59Keyzie:Yeah, Spotify sucks. All right.

10:02Mike Minogue:All right, we've gone through our fourth, third, and second most played songs each of the year. Our number ones will be the Throbber after 5 o 'clock, so that's bound to be an absolute ripper. We've asked for feedback on 3483. WTF, Hoity Jizz, feel like I just looked into your knicker draw and I did not enjoy what I saw. Kia Kaha, brother. Keezy, meh. Mogi, very suspect number two, but hit us with a deed to that number three banger. I want to hit it in my playlist. Mwaki. Mwaki. Yeah, that's a good tune. M-W-A-K-I. Absolute tune. It is a good tune.

10:38Mike Minogue:Yippie boys. It is a good tune, that one. Let it drop, Keezy. Let it drop.

10:48Mike Minogue:Tune, man. That's a tune. We should have more of that stuff on Hauraki. A guy called Mike has accused me of manipulating my stats by playing songs on repeat all night to try and make myself look cool, but it's backfired and I look like a loser. He's nailed it.

11:00Keyzie:Yeah, I've sat up all night playing Marvin Gaye on repeat. I did think about that, actually.

11:05Mike Minogue:If I was going to do that, I wouldn't pick Marvin Gaye and Hall and Oates. I'll be honest with you. I think that Keezy's going to take out the throbby today, and I would say it's because it's going to be something that everybody knows. Guess. Do you know what I mean?

11:20Keyzie:What I can absolutely – you can give me an asterisk here. What I can absolutely assure you is I will not. and you thought my songs, the songs I played were down, Buzz. You just wait for my number one. You just need two people that are as enthusiastic about that song as you are to get on the phone. That's true, that's true.

11:39Mike Minogue:Carlos has said, yeah, the songs you guys picked were all shocking. You need to go back to DJ school. Oh, DJ school. Hoity J saved it with the Deftones. Mogey and Keezy, wow, just bloody wow. I'm switching stations. Wow. Jeez. Keezy, yours rocks, man. This is from Jeff. Jason Mike, there are no words other than I'm not angry, just disappointed. It's true. Isn't it interesting? People are harsh, man. Sally says, Jace's list is a depressing soundtrack. Love Keezy's list, uplifting and fun. Mogi's list, pretty good too.

12:11Keyzie:Yeah, well, someone that says uplifting and fun, I don't care if they hate my music.

12:16Mike Minogue:All three of you helmets' playlists suck. That's from Dave. Yeah, Dave.

12:19Keyzie:Dave gets it.

12:21Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

12:27Keyzie:Chemical Brothers there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon, the time 20 to 5.

12:33Mike Minogue:If you would like to win for yourself a$100 bonus bet to be placed on either the Formula One, I believe it is, or the football tomorrow, give us a call now on 0800-HAURAKI because it's time for this.

12:44Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show Big Bet with the DAB.

12:49Mike Minogue:That's right. We've teamed up with the DAB to run the Big Show Big Bet. We've got Dilly in studio with us who is our betting expert. G'day, Dilly. G'day, guys. How are? You're a degenerate, aren't you, Dilly? I've been labelled worse, but yeah. Are you an expert, Dilly? No, absolutely not. But I'm just the one guy in the office still around on a Friday. Nah, he loves it, man. He's not letting on just how into it he is. The way it works is we'll pick two bets that will hopefully come off this weekend. The person who gets through on 0800 Hauraki then gets to choose what they'd like to put that$100 bonus bet on.

13:21Mike Minogue:We're going to go to the lines now. Gary. G'day, Gary. How are you going? Gary.

13:26Keyzie:I'm all right. It's Friday. Who can complain? Yeah, good on you, Gaz. Hey, what do you do for a crust, Gary? I don't know if I can tell you.

13:34Mike Minogue:It's a bit illegal.

13:35Keyzie:Hurry up. Come on, man.

13:37Mike Minogue:What is it?

13:38Keyzie:No, just kidding. Just kidding. No, I'm a comma contractor. Oh, yeah. Backbone. And a drug dealer on the side. All right, Dilly. Let Gary know what he's faced with here.

13:48Mike Minogue:All right, Gary. So your first option to bet, of course, we've got the derby on at Mount Smart tomorrow, the Phoenix taking on Auckland FC. So your first bet is for that game to be a draw, paying$4.10. Or Monday morning at 2 o 'clock our time, we've got the final race of the season for the Formula 1. So your second bet is Liam Lawson to finish in the top six, paying$7. All right, Gary, would you like to put your$100 bonus bet on?

14:15Keyzie:Auckland, it's not going to be a draw, so we've got to go Liam, I think. Yeah, up Liam. I have to say neither are going to happen, in all honesty. That's right.

14:25Mike Minogue:Rooting for a draw, though. I can't get behind that. Great choice, Gaz.

14:28Keyzie:I've never rooted for a draw in my life, Keezy.

14:31Mike Minogue:What is that? Is that filthy? Is that a joke?

14:33Keyzie:I'm just telling you, man. I've never rooted for a draw.

14:36Mike Minogue:You've rooted for less than that. All right, Gaz. We'll chuck you on hold, mate. Good luck, all right? Thank you. Good on you, Gary. Hey, thanks, Dilly Man. Hey, don't worry, guys. The Dilly Man, they call him.

14:46Keyzie:What are you doing this weekend, Dilly?

14:48Mike Minogue:I foolishly put myself down to work the ACC commentary tomorrow, so I'm really hoping this wraps up. We were just talking earlier on. We sort of feel like you're going to be nine down overnight. You'll be in tomorrow morning, I'm afraid. Yeah, yeah, I think so.

15:02Keyzie:I think these guys are looking like they're going to be hanging around for a day, I reckon. Probably a whole day, yeah.

15:06Mike Minogue:I feel like the fielding team should be able to, sorry, the batting team. Nah, just forget it. I can't even be able to talk about cricket. There's Muse. I was going to have cricket chat, but gave up. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

15:20Keyzie:ACDC there on the radio. Hodaki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time, 4.52. The score, 1.38 for four. The West Indies chasing 5.31. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

15:39Keyzie:Yeah. Yeah. Jase, yeah. Jase, just say it. Yeah. Jase.

15:50Mike Minogue:And Jase. Yes.

15:56Fellas. I didn't watch anything last night. So there you go. Oh, I tell a lie. I watched The Ashes. Bloody good stuff, man. The Ashes, the second test between Australia and England there. Joe Root got a ton. High drama. They're making a game of it. Very excited to just get home as quickly as humanly possible so I can watch them all. So good. Five buzzies. I've got a possible five.

16:19Keyzie:Yeah, I love it. I love it. But as you know, fellas, I went out for dinner last night. Can I tell you a little funny story? Go on. Is it TV related? No. What are we doing here then? Well, I didn't watch TV.

16:31Mike Minogue:Well, then let me talk about TV.

16:33Keyzie:So I thought I could tell you a really cute little story,

16:37Mike Minogue:fellas. All right, but I'm going to rate it out of five buzzies. We went to a very Ponson Beelight restaurant.

16:44Keyzie:Can I say that? More of a cafe, actually, in a weird way. Anyway, we got some bread and what I thought was a very flash cream cheese, fancy doodacky doodacky. And so I was piling on this cream cheese on my little sourdough pieces of bread. And then at one moment, my daughter looked at me as I was stuffing it in my face. And she said, my God, Dad, what the hell are you doing? And I was like eating bread and cheese. and she went, it's not cheese, it's whipped butter. And I'm not exaggerating because I was starving and there was nothing else to eat. I had about an inch of it. You know, I was having globs of it on my bread, just shoving it down my gob, thinking it was a cream cheese, but it was in fact whipped butter.

17:34Mike Minogue:You were saying as well that it wasn't even bread, it was a napkin. Yeah.

17:40Keyzie:And then because I'd consumed so much butter, I felt like I was having little mini heart attacks when I was walking to the car.

17:47Mike Minogue:I'm sure you didn't freak out about it. How many buzzies out of five would you give the restaurant? Two. Wow. Right. That's not good. Have you heard of the Japanese director Miyazaki? Yeah. Yeah. He's got, you know, he's famous for, he's a director, he's made heaps of stuff. He made this trilogy of medium. Movies, yeah. And everyone knows that the first one's excellent, the third one's great, but the second one's not very good. Okay. And the trilogy is called the Dark Souls trilogy. Right. I finally watched the second Dark Souls trilogy. I'm in the middle of watching it. Hey, yeah, Jase. Jase, this is a video game.

18:23Keyzie:I was going to say, if this is game of Jack, Mogey, I mean, easy. Because that's bullshit. Yeah, that is. It's shit. So I tried out the second Dark Souls movie and I'm really enjoying it. Tell me more about the butter. It was really nicely whipped. It was very fluffy, Mogey. Yeah. Very fluffy. Well, good on you, man. I'm sure that I've actually had whipped butter before, but not that I can recall. Yes. What really upset me, actually, because we got a bowl of olives and they put fennel seed in there. Oh. And I wasn't happy with that. No. I don't want fennel seeds in my, you know, lovely bowl of olives.

19:00Mike Minogue:Why is he allowed to talk about fennel seeds and I can't talk about video games, which was on my telly last night? I don't know, man. It's a weird set-up we've got here. God, who makes the rules?

19:09Keyzie:Hey, coming up, and I... What? I'm sincerely not looking forward to this. We reveal our number one Spotify most played song. That's right. It is the Friday day. And our listening age. Can I sort of stay out of this throbber?

19:30Mike Minogue:No. No, we need you in this throbber. We do, man. We need you, Jase. We need you, Jase, man. Come on, man. Oh, man. That's coming up next. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

19:50Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday throbber. Douche, douche. Ah. Jase. Jase, man, you're already out the door, brother. You're already gone, man. Where are you? Where's your head, brother? Shut up. Where's your head at? Shocker, bro. Is that four weeks in a row? I don't think you've ever done it, man. Oh, man. Can you do it again, Keezy? No.

20:10Mike Minogue:You'll get another chance next week.

20:12Keyzie:No, even though we all hate Spotify, because they don't look after their artists, they pay them shit. Apart from that... They do a cool thing called Spotify Rapped Every Year. Yes. Where you find out what your top songs are, what your favourite genres are, how long you've listened, all this sort of stuff. We counted down our top four songs earlier, four to two, and now we're left with our best one, and that is here in The Throbber. We're going to play it out. You guys are going to ring us up on 0800 Hodecki and vote on it. First of two wins. It's an exciting time of year, feels.

20:46Mike Minogue:Yeah, now traditionally The Throbber is a tune designed to get your party started for the weekend. Yeah. I don't know if that's going to happen today. And this song that you're about to hear from each of us is the song we have listened to the most all year. Okay? Yes. Who wants to go first? Who wants to go first, Keezy? I think we should leave Jase till last. You want to go first? No, you go first, man. Okay. It's our old mate, is it? No, no, no, it's not. This is a song by Karangbin and Leon Bridges.

21:18Keyzie:It's a good song. It's a good song.

21:28Mike Minogue:Texas Sun. I guess I like chilling out and listening to that song, man. It's a good song, man. I like it. Yeah. It's not a throbber, but it's the song I've listened to. I don't know.

21:37Keyzie:It's got good Friday vibes. It's not a throbber, though. No, it's not. By definition, it's not a throbber. So I've got this one I found on a movie earlier in the year. Look at Jasey's freaking out over there. Jeez. Called The Gorge with Anna Taylor-Joy and that other fella there. Not a great movie, but the placement of the song was magnificent. It's by the year, year, years, and it's called Spitting Off the Edge of the World.

22:09Mike Minogue:Oh, Throbber.

22:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, nice. It's not a Throbber, but it's not not a Throbber. Yeah, it is an absolute tune. Love it. But, yeah, look, they could be Throbber, but I'm happy with it. Could have been worse. Yeah. Could have been worse.

22:36Keyzie:Well, you give us your opinion. No, no, Jason. Oh, no. And now here's Jason. Oh, no, no. Wait, wait, wait. Now listen, Kettles. This is most certainly not a throbber. And dear. I don't know. It's just a sort of tune I like to sit on my deck.

22:56Mike Minogue:Here's Jason's most played song for the year.

22:58Keyzie:Oh, the light is coming on everywhere. Where something in the back of my mind is running scared

23:11Keyzie:Oh, time is running on me Who is this? Luke Sattell Singh, his name is.

23:17Mike Minogue:Right. This is the least thromby thromber we've ever done, but our hands are tied here. This is what it is. It is what it is, man. This is what it is. All right. Well, New Zealand, you decide. You give us a call right now on 0800-HAURAKE. Let us know who you are voting for. And, of course, you're welcome to give your feedback on our Throbber Choices 3483. Yeah! That was much better than I thought it was going to be, Jase. Oh, thanks, mate. Incubus. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

23:46Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Douche, douche. Oh, damn, I forgot. Yes. Well, we all just revealed our most listened to song of 2025. That's right.

24:04Mike Minogue:Our throbber choices were locked in. Didn't realise this until this morning that the song I listen to most this year will be my throbber. Jase really banged on about how depressing his one was. Yes. And then it wasn't too bad. Not compared to a lot of the songs that he likes, absolutely. That's right. I went first. My most listened to song this year was Leon Bridges and Karangbin, Texas Sun.

24:27Keyzie:Engine lost Come on, roll with me Till the sun goes down

24:36Keyzie:The Texas sun

24:38Mike Minogue:That's a good tune. It is a great tune.

24:40Keyzie:It really is. I might put that on my car stereo on the way home. You're going to put it on your stereo. You're going to put it on my stereo.

24:47Mike Minogue:You've got a knack for making things sound so old. And I've got one from the year, year, years spitting off the edge of the world.

25:01Keyzie:And the kids cry out We're spitting on the edge of the world How is the night

25:13Mike Minogue:Mogey's most listened to song this year. So interesting, isn't it? Isn't it, though? Yes. You sort of get something and you're like, man, I like that one, so you trash the bejesus out of it. Yeah, yeah.

25:23Keyzie:No, the yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a good tune. It is a good tune. Great tune.

25:28Mike Minogue:This is Jase's most listened to song of 2025.

25:46Mike Minogue:What's the name of the artist again? Luke Sattel's singer's name is.

25:51Keyzie:In the song? Still. Still. Still.

25:54Mike Minogue:Well, let's go to the phone lines, fellas. Here we go.

25:57Keyzie:G'day, Lee, you mad bastard. How's life? Drama! Drama!

26:03Mike Minogue:Get on you, Lee. Who are you voting for, man? You know what? I actually have the same most listened to song as Jason, so I'm going with him. Oh, my God! Are you serious, Lee? Absolutely, yeah. Oh, that's amazing. The name will sing. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking, Lee? 39. Yeah, yeah. Oh, thank you. Thank you.

26:28Keyzie:Oh, no. Don't make me play that song. Come on, fellas.

26:34Mike Minogue:Come on, yeah. Thanks very much, Lee. That's one float for Jase. Eric, how you going? Yeah, not bad, not bad. Good on you, mate. What do you say? Yeah. Best of a bad bunch. They're all no good, but I'll have to go with Jase. Are you kidding me? It makes me want to sort of listen to the whole song

27:01Keyzie:Oh my god, thanks very much Eric I'm going to leave the room when this is playing, alright?

27:06Mike Minogue:Oh my god How did you win that? I don't know That's how it goes man As I said to you, all you need is two people that like it to pick up the goddamn phone I'm surprised I went lying on the couch under the influence of methadone But here we are Oh, no. So this is Jase's most played song of the year. What's it called again? Still by...

27:29Keyzie:Luke Sattel Singh. Just chill with a minute. Can I ask you how long it is, man?

27:35Mike Minogue:No, about 14 minutes. Four minutes. 3483. Please let us know your thoughts on... Oh, God. I cannot believe you won. I am fuming. Same. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yeah.

27:51Keyzie:Still there by Luke Sattel Singh. if you're looking to just chill out of an afternoon, chuck him on, he's bloody good.

27:58Mike Minogue:That is Jase's most played song for the year of 2025 and if you've just joined us, it just took out the Friday throbber with straight votes. To be honest, a lot of text on 3483, very, very impressed with your music. Oh! John from Fielding, Not Bad, it's the sort of song I'd listen to on State Highway 1 at 11pm hooning a vape. Can I just say in terms of reviews, who's somebody saying not bad is not very impressive.

28:25Keyzie:But, you know, for the horror, I thought I was going to, and I'm sure there's plenty of horrific ones too.

28:30Mike Minogue:I think New Zealanders, we're pretty low-key, and not bad means it's good. Yeah, it's as good as it's getting. All right, this is a nice tune, Jase, mate. Shocking song for a Friday afternoon, though.

28:40Keyzie:Yeah, well, I was never predicting it was going to be, you know, the throbber.

28:45Mike Minogue:Jade says, beautiful song, Fielers. It's a tune, Jase. Actually a great song, Jase. Smogies, yours was good too. Keezy, I'm glad you lost. Bit of chat here about taking a bath with my toaster. My 12-year-old son said this song is depressing. Look, you can't win them all, Jase, but you've won that one. And more than that, we need an update to the scores there, Keezy. Yeah, huge update on the scores. Right now in first place with 15 wins, Mogus. Mogus. 15 wins for the year. In second place on 14 wins with three asterisks for coercing a listener, playing a Pantera song filled with F-bombs and picking the dev tones constantly.

29:26Keyzie:No, there was never an asterisk for that. That was last week. We said it was an asterisk. Is this true? I did. Yes, we did. I didn't. I was surprised to see that there. What the hell? But you've still got two others. Yes, I do.

29:40Mike Minogue:And in third place on seven wins with two asterisks for playing Free Bird when it wasn't relevant and for bullying Mogey, Keezy. Well, it's interesting stuff because we've got two weeks left. Yeah, yeah. We've got two weeks left. So Jason needs to take out the last two to get away. If he draws with me, you'd have to say those three asterisks are going to cost him.

30:05Keyzie:Can I just say, Keezy, on that front, by the way, I mean, you've been humiliated this year, but I wanted your song to win today. Thank you. Because that was a great tune. Does that make you feel better, man? Because he's kind of been condescending towards you there. That's shocking from Jase.

30:20Mike Minogue:I'll take what I can get from Jase, to be honest. But also, today proves that there's no form of trying to pick the right song sometimes in the throbber will get you the win. You had a guy who called up just so happened to have that exact same song as his number one played song. I wish we kept a record of the songs that actually won because a lot of the ones that Jase has won, you're just like, everybody has been surprised. Yes. It just takes two people to call up, man. That's right. That's all it takes.

30:49Mike Minogue:Soundgarden. Back to regular programming. Yeah, yeah, I reckon. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. My Heart Radio. Alter Ego. Oh, how's he going now? Let's get another great New Zealander in the draw.

31:11Keyzie:In fact, let's get two fells.

31:13Mike Minogue:That's a good idea, Jase. What is the alter ego competition, I hear you ask? It is you and a mate flying to L.A. thanks to Air New Zealand. You get a hotel, you get$1 ,000 cash, and you get to see some of the biggest bands in the world performing, Green Day, Sublime, Cage the Elephant, plenty more as well. It's put on by iHeartRadio. It's a huge deal, and I'd love to win it.

31:32Keyzie:Great stuff, Keezy. Let's go to the phone lines then. G'day, Ava. Hey, Ava, lovely name. Can I say that? Thank you very much. You're welcome. I was going to call my daughter Ava, fellas. Oh, right. Honestly, Mum and Dad started a trend, I reckon. Yeah, well, I've gone for Ada instead, but, you know, much of a muchness. Hey, what do you do for a crust, Ava? I'm an accounts administrator. Oh, backbone. A backbone. I know. I know.

32:02Mike Minogue:Hey, Ava, if you were to win this prize, mate, who would you take with you? I would 100 % take my mum. Oh. What's her name? That's lovely. Yeah, what's her name? Rose. Oh, Rose. She's a shocking bastard on the piss.

32:16Keyzie:Oh, honestly, I've been to Green Day with her before. Just embarrassment in a package. But you've got to do it again anyway. How good. Great stuff, Ava. You're in the draw. Stay on the line and I'll pug some. I'll look after you, all right? Thank you so much. Easy, I can't see. Line six. What's his name? Jackson. G'day, man.

32:35Mike Minogue:How you going? Cute. Hello, Jackson. Hello? Hello, hello, hello? Hello? Here he is. Hey, guys, what's going on?

32:45Keyzie:Oh, you know, just doing a bit of radio and that. What do you do for a crust, Jackson?

32:50Mike Minogue:Oh, mate, I'm actually a crane operator. Oh, backbone.

32:54Keyzie:Oh, dangerous. Big wreck. I mean, backbone.

32:57Mike Minogue:Whereabouts, Jackson? Just in the Tron, do a bit in Tauranga. You know how it is. Oh, I know exactly how it is.

33:03Keyzie:I can actually, Jackson, I can imagine a little Keezy, A little Keezy wanting to be a crane driver.

33:10Mike Minogue:Me? Yeah. Yeah, 100 % once upon a time.

33:12Keyzie:Yeah.

33:13Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm scared of heights, though.

33:16Keyzie:Yeah, but you're down below on the ground when you're a crane driver, Keezy. You're not up the top of the crane. No, hang on.

33:21Mike Minogue:No, is that true, Jackson? Oh, I'm in the seat, mate. You're up the top in the seat? Yeah, yeah. What are you talking about, Jase? I don't come out for a fight. Can we just give this guy a seat? Just chill out. Just chill out, man. Jase is trying to act like he knows about crane driving. Hi, Jackson.

33:39Keyzie:Who would you take with you, mate?

33:42Mike Minogue:Oh, probably my dad there. Oh, really? Really? What's his name? Ross. Oh, Ross. He's a shocking bastard. Yeah, he's Jesus. Is he still around? Is he gone? Yeah, you're quite right there. Yeah.

33:57Keyzie:Good stuff, Jackson. You sound the line and, oh, bug Sam will look after you, all right? You're in the drawer. Thank you, mate. Good on you, mate. Yeah, good on you, mate. Jeez, he was a bit worried they were going to say his old man Ross was a bit of a handsy bastard, but I was going to keep that to myself. Is he? I very nearly said that, baby. And that's why there was a bit of dead air there. The astute listener would have noticed there was a bit of dead air. Jase and I were both thinking about calling Jackson's dad Ross a handsy bastard.

34:24Mike Minogue:Yeah, right, okay. Because he is, right? Yeah, he's bloody terrible. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

34:34Keyzie:Rage Against the Machine there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Friday afternoon.

34:39Mike Minogue:Fellas, the Hodaki Swingers Club is an establishment that was set up by basically us because we wanted to play lots of golf. Oh, yeah, man. Yes, consider it work. The next update for the Swingers Club is at Chasing the Fox, which is Friday next week, December the 12th, Royal Auckland in Grange. It's a great event. It's on TVNZ there. Ryan Fox is playing, and then a whole lot of celebrity trios are trying to beat him at golf. We'll be doing our show live from Chasing the Fox in the Heineken Silver Clubhouse right by the final hole, getting amongst all the action. If you are keen and you've got a mate with you as well, head to hodaki.co.nz, enter the draw there.

35:17Mike Minogue:It is R18, and you can be hanging out with us at the Hodaki Swingers Club Chasing the Fox edition. That's cheers to Heineken Silver, world-class low-carb lager. Yeah, great stuff. Hey, earlier on we were doing a bit of Spotify stuff. Boo, boo. They've had the rap come out for 2025. We did our top four, ending with our number ones being submitted for the throbber regardless of what they were. Jase took it out with a song that I actually enjoyed, even though it was absolutely not a throbber, but not his fault because he didn't get to choose it. Regardless, he got the win. But they had some other interesting sort of things on there as well, don't they, Jizz?

35:51Yes, they do. One of which is what is your listening age. So based on all the music that you listen to, they come up with what your age is. and I've got mine here, Jase. Apparently my listening age is 34. 34? Look, it's 15 years younger than what I am. Yes. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm slightly surprised, but it's probably just by thrashing one or two songs that it's brought my average down.

36:17Keyzie:Well, I am genuinely surprised by my number. Genuinely surprised. What do you think it is, Keezy?

36:25Mike Minogue:Based on, I don't know how, the problem is you play all these bands I've never heard of and I don't know how old they are. Who bloody knows? I'm going to say 55.

36:35Keyzie:My age, according to this, is 27. 27? 27. Wow. They're half right. Nearly. What's that? 12 years off?

36:49Mike Minogue:Oh, because you're 39. Yeah, right. No, that's not right, is it? Because I was thinking 54. No, you're not 54. You're 39. Come on, monkey. Well, look, because I'm Apple Music, right? They don't give you your age, but I can tell you my top five artists are Fat Freddy's Drop, The Rolling Stones, Troy Kingy, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac. Wow. So your listening age would be right up there, 60s, 70s. Probably.

37:14Keyzie:70s, actually.

37:15Mike Minogue:And then lucky I listen to Troy Kingy and Fat Freddy's a lot, which hopefully brings it down a wee bit. Isn't that interesting?

37:20Keyzie:It is interesting. Fascinating stuff.

37:21Mike Minogue:What's your listening age, New Zealand? The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

37:32Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday is going off. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Rio Burger.

37:40Mike Minogue:Handcrafted burgers. Loaded fries, gourmet eats. That'll change the game. Shhh. Shhh. Shhh.

37:50Keyzie:Ahem. Ah. Ah. What the heck? I was dreaming about Reeburger again.

37:57Mike Minogue:Oh, my God. It was so crave-worthy. But it was gourmet and it was street food. Yum!

38:08Keyzie:Speaking of which, it's Friday night at my household. Just a year ago.

38:13Mike Minogue:Because at my house, it's also Friday night. Wow, that's out of it. What a coincidence.

38:16Keyzie:And it's takeaways night at Hoity J's.

38:18Mike Minogue:So, Mogi, what night is it at your house tonight?

38:20Keyzie:I'm pretty sure it's Friday as well. Is it? At yours as well, is it?

38:23Mike Minogue:Actually, I just texted my wife. She said it's Wednesday at our house tonight.

38:26Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, I thought it might be. Really? But, you know, takeaways. Share it again tonight, Kesey?

38:32Mike Minogue:No, with me. She's going with me to the airport to fly to Christchurch. Oh, right. Finally. What were you saying, though, Jason, about takeaways?

38:39Keyzie:Well, you know, Friday night is often traditionally takeaway night. Well, it is in my household.

38:45Mike Minogue:Yeah.

38:45Keyzie:So a bit of Reeburger won't go amiss.

38:47Mike Minogue:What are you thinking, man? Beef, chicken? Chicken. Really? Yeah. Spicy? Might get some tenders.

38:52Keyzie:Yeah, sure. And some chips. Really? Yeah, man. What about your wife? Oh, she likes the cheeseburger. Does she?

39:00Mike Minogue:No, my wife likes the cheeseburger. What is your wife like?

39:03Keyzie:Swear to God, Keezy, my wife got the cheeseburger too. Wait a minute. You can't have two wives, one each, that both like cheeseburgers. Yeah, that's not right. This just sounds like a lie now.

39:14Mike Minogue:Are we married to the same woman? What? The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

39:23Keyzie:Kaiser Chiefs there on the Radio Hodaki. Big show this Friday evening. Now, fellas, you like a bit of basketball action, don't you?

39:31Mike Minogue:Jase, I love basketball.

39:32Keyzie:Boing, boing, boing, boing, poof. With that in mind, we've been running an extraordinary competition called the Backbone Bench Winner. Well, the winner part is the part we're going to be doing now, isn't it? That's good stuff. You know what I mean?

39:45Mike Minogue:Basically what it is is you win tickets to go and see the next Breakers game. You and three of your mates, you're sitting courtside. You're right there like Jack Nicholson at the Lakers games every single week. It is amazing. Am I right in thinking you get free food and stuff as well?

40:01Keyzie:Yes. Well, we got sent a photo from our last winner. He had a great time with his three mates. Beersies, food. You're right on the courtside. It's a bloody hell of an occasion.

40:12Mike Minogue:It certainly is. And the winner for today is Matt. G'day, Matt. Matt. Matt. Matt. Hello. Matt. How you going, man? How you going?

40:23Keyzie:Good. Tell me, Matt, what do you do for a crust? What do I do for a crust? Property management, commercial property. What an absolute backbone. Back bone. Massive back bone. Jeez. And you love a bit of basketball action, obviously, Matt.

40:39Mike Minogue:I do. I do love the breakers and a bit of basketball action. Oh. Bloody reppin', mate. You free tomorrow night, man? I am indeed, yeah. All right, well, the good news for you, mate, is you have won the tickets for you in three minutes to go watch the Tasmania Jackjumpers take on the Breakers at Spark Arena. Outstanding. That's awesome. Thanks, fellas.

40:56Keyzie:Yeah, no worries, man. You have a good time. Send us a couple of picks, why don't you?

41:00Mike Minogue:Oh, will do.

41:01Keyzie:Awesome. Really appreciate it. Thanks, man. Thank you for appreciating it. We appreciate you, man.

41:07Mike Minogue:You hold the line. Old Pugs will look after you there. Sounded like a good bastard, didn't it? We sounded like he was in a massive rush. Well, yeah. Well, you know, he's given us a second out of his time. He's busy pumping up the leases and the rents all over the show. Yeah, what a backbone, actually. That does sound backbone. The break is taking on the Tasmania jackjumpers. What's a jackjumper? Well, I thought it was a firefighter of some description. I don't know, actually. It's probably some cross between a bloody kangaroo and a wallaby.

41:34Keyzie:Yeah, I imagine it's some kind of Australian critter. It's an ant. God. An ant? Yeah, jackjumper ant from Tasmania. There you go. That's not cool, man.

41:44Mike Minogue:Actually, fun fact, they've got the shortest average height in the league. Oh, that's a great – God, that's a good fact. Thus the name. I just made it up. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

41:58Keyzie:Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this beautiful Friday evening. Let's talk – oh, it's not talking anything. It's giving advice.

42:07Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's kind of talking though, man. Yeah.

42:15Mike Minogue:Get in touch with the fellas. This is a 100 % real email address. MeetPattyNips69 at gmail.com. Get in touch if you need advice on anything. It's 100 % anonymous. And if we read it out on the show,$50 Reburger voucher is all yours. This one comes from anonymous. Boom. Female anonymous. Oh, yeah. G'day, big show boys. My husband and I are trying to conceive Okay We moved to Napier from Wellington a few years ago While both sets of parents remain in Wally Idiot Our parents like to visit and stay with us regularly Which is nice to a certain extent Both sets of parents are desperate to be grandparents But haven't been putting any pressure on us The problem is They always seem to schedule their stays with us When I am ovulating For four months in a row You know about ovulating, Keezy?

43:05Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's when you're going to try to conceive, right? Yeah. That's the money sort of spot. That's the one. For four months in a row, they have been to our house and we've been trying to conceive and we are sick of trying to work around it. How do I tell them that if they want grandchildren so desperately then they need to leave us alone without getting into explicit details of my menstrual cycle? Cheers, Anonymous.

43:25Keyzie:I mean, it all depends on what kind of lovemaker you are. I mean, if you're a noisy shout-a-outer, you know, if you're like, oh, God, yeah, then I get it. Well, you can only get pregnant on the couch or in the kitchen. Yeah. I mean, what's to stop you from making love quietly and gently in your bed? I still think, like... And doing it at the time when you're at your best.

43:45Mike Minogue:But aren't you supposed to, when you're ovulating or whatever, that's when you've got to go hammering times and do it as much as possible? Right. And if I, like, if I... Let's just say, Jase, you were my dad, right? And I was trying to conceive with my partner, and then you were coming round, and, like, that would massively put me off.

43:59Keyzie:I love it. I really like the sort of tension that you get when other people are in the house and you're trying to make love silently. And then you get a bit of, you know, can get a bit carried away. Yes. Then the old beard starts going, doosh, doosh, doosh. You've got to button off, Keese. You've got to button off. That's the secret.

44:14Mike Minogue:It's kind of sexy in a way, Keese. But it's not about, at this point, it's not about being sexy. It's about you're trying to do a thing. You can have best of both worlds.

44:22Keyzie:Yeah, you still want to be sexy. I mean, it's not just a matter of, you know, planting your seed, as it were. But also it is, because I know when we were trying, the wife and I there, it's very transactional. It is. It's not enjoyable in any way, shape or form. There is no chemistry or romance to it. It's just like, ah, it's that time. And then, Kesey, this will be interesting. Let's see if you know this, man. And you, Jason. How many days a month can a woman become pregnant?

44:53Mike Minogue:I'm going to say three, two. Yeah, I'd say about the same. Six. Oh, six, okay. Six. So you're sort of brought up to think it can happen every day of the month. Yeah. Every day of the month. Yeah. There's only six. It's not many.

45:06Keyzie:It's a very small window. I've never had the ovulating conversation with my wife. There you go.

45:12Mike Minogue:You're obviously very lucky, Jase. Well, or prolific. Because... You get that chat all the time. You found that window, no dramas, you know what I mean? Yeah.

45:21Keyzie:Totally, I was standing at the window.

45:23Mike Minogue:So what's the advice here, Jase? Just go for it, man, don't worry about it.

45:26Keyzie:Yeah, it's all good. And don't... Because I had some friends that were doing what Moggy was doing, and they felt the same thing. Yes. And she was like, I'm ovulating, come in here now. And he was like, I'm just not into this. The urge to be a mother takes over. Yes. And, yeah, look, it hurts, Gizzy. It doesn't feel good for the man there. Right. Oftentimes. Because a mate of mine. Well, for me, I should say.

45:50Mike Minogue:A mate of mine. You don't have mates, Gizzy. A very. Come on, Jase, you're my mate. A friend of mine was like, I felt like I was just a, what's it called? Donor. A hand sanitiser bottle. Oh, yeah, right. And she'd just come over and hit me on the hair and then walk away. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

46:05Keyzie:That's quite the image. Yeah. I mean, I think you've just got to, yeah, get it done, man.

46:12Mike Minogue:Just get into it, man. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

46:25Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big show done and done for the week, eh, fellas? What's the podcast outro clip? today, Keezy.

46:36Mike Minogue:The podcast outro clip. Keezy. Today, Keezy, is just a bit of an inside look at the inner workings of Radio Hauraki and how the higher-ups behave. Preb's in the B studio, Hammer and Tongs. Yeah. With? Old Keezy. With me.

46:57Keyzie:That's just standard practice. When you join Hauraki's, old Prebonator gives you a... A good C in two. A Prebonator. Yeah, a scene to. Yeah, just a kind of cute little bit of insight into the running of Radio Hodaki, really.

47:12Mike Minogue:And it runs like a well-oiled machine. We've fostered through a lot of new talent and stuff, so it's been great, and obviously Prebs is a big part to play in this. Mogi, big weekend for you. Yeah, mate, I pop home there, see the missus and the kid, etc., etc. I've got a barbecue to go to tomorrow afternoon. I'm probably going to get steamed, so Monday's not going to be great. and then, let alone Sunday. Yeah. But it will be great on Sunday because my daughter's got her ballet concert, which I'm very much looking forward to. Beautiful, mate. Oh, mate. So I can't get too carried away, you know. You can't be turning up in your sunglasses to your kid's ballet.

47:49Oh, don't worry. You would have lost them anyway.

47:50Mike Minogue:I guess we... Hey!

47:52Keyzie:There he is. Da-doo. Shkizia off to Christchurch. Kodoo Lounge action tonight, I believe.

47:59Mike Minogue:Kodoo Lounge action. I don't know if there'll be much action there. I hope so. But I'll be eating some cheese and wine with my wife, and then we'll be flying down, playing golf tomorrow, and then having a barbie as well, and I will be getting steamed responsibly too, Moggy. Yes, boy. Can't wait.

48:11Keyzie:Yeah, good stuff. Don't go too hard on the cheese. It gives you nightmares.

48:14Mike Minogue:It does, Jase. Thanks for the reminder. What are you doing this weekend, Jason?

48:17Keyzie:Oh, look, my wife's got all these things on that I have to be a part of. So I suppose I'll be doing that. Enjoy it, man. Yeah, I will enjoy it. Enjoy it while you can. And I'm pretty determined to do a bit of fishing this weekend, actually. Sure. Oh, really? Yeah, a bit of fishing. Oh, yeah. We'll see how that goes. Hey, just make a note of that with your pugs, son. Oh, Jase. I'm going fishing. Just put that in the content for Monday. I'll send you guys a pic.

48:42Mike Minogue:You always say that you never catch anything. Hey, we'll see you Monday at four. Love you. Bye.
