0:09Keyzie:Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. Really big. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company on this very warm and sunny Thursday afternoon. It is the 22nd of January, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by ReBurger. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options, ReBurger are redefining the norm. Scrumdedly-umptious. Speaking of which, g'day, Mogey, you absolute rogue stallion. How's life?
0:44Jase:Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. All the better for seeing you today, brother. Thanks, man. I walk through the door and here you are in a brand new emerald shirt. And I am thinking to myself, yes, boy. Yeah. I get that, man. Give it to me. Now, Keezy. Are you going to give it to him? He wants your new shirt.
1:10Keyzie:No, no. That's not what I want. I know what he wants. And I'll be giving it to him. Now, Keezy. What? I consider you a pretty fashionable sort of filler. Thank you. You know, I think you've got your own unique style fashion-wise. Okay. You started off so well there. But, you know, one thing I cannot abide, a tucked-in T-shirt. Sorry, Jase, I was riding a motorbike just before the show, man. Oh, yeah. You've got to tuck your shirt in, otherwise it'll billow around. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, good point, mate. I thought, oh, that's fair enough here, but you didn't think to untuck it once you got off the motorbike.
1:50Keyzie:No, I quite like it.
1:51Jase:Working around like Steve Urkel over here. Damn, that's a relevant reference. I think it's fine. My dad tucks his shirt in. Does he? How old's he? Late 60s. Speaking of late 60s, how are you going, Jase?
2:07Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Feeling pretty good. Really loving my new shirt that my wife bought me. Is that Tommy Hilfiger or something? What is that? I don't know. No, but it's not new. It's a second-hand shirt, of course.
2:19Jase:I'm pretty sure it's a shirt from a Catholic school, primary school down in Huntley. I know I've seen that before. Did you get that off a Form 1-er?
2:30Keyzie:It could very well have belonged to a Form 1-er at one stage, for sure. Hey, now, Mogey, what's coming up in the show?
2:40Jase:What's happening on the big show with old Mogey? Better question would be what's not happening on the big show today, fellas. Keep your ear out, as always, for our hit news segment. If you hear a sting like this one, playing in between songs or during a song, give us a call on 0800 Horeki and you could win yourself$1 million. $50 Reburger. Have they changed it? Yeah, yeah. $50 Reburger voucher. That's still pretty good, though. That's worth a million bucks.
3:10Keyzie:I actually have those two choices. I'm not sure what I'd go with.
3:16Jase:Also, we'll be finalising the name of my cat. We've been running a poll for a couple of days here. Today is a day, ladies and gentlemen. That's coming up next. And later on in the show, we'll be determining who is the most handsome person on the big show through the eyes of my daughter, Mogi Minogi. How did that come about? Did you ask her that? No, she just started having a yarn to me about Jase and what a shocking bastard he is. Here's Pluto. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:44Keyzie:Rage against the machine there on the Radio Hauraki big show this Thursday afternoon. The time, 13 minutes past four o 'clock. And throughout the week, we've been running a bit of a competition because old Mogey's got a new kitten. Do a what? And it's an inbred ragdoll white with grey paws and nose and tail. Yes. And blue eyes.
4:05Jase:Really, really blue eyes. Quite stunning. Quite stunning.
4:09Keyzie:Nothing behind him, as you stated.
4:12Jase:Nothing happening behind there. It knows nothing. It's an interesting cat. It bounces all off the walls. It's a mad bastard. Let me put it to you that way. So it's going to be an interesting life. And the audience, they actually were voting on the new name for Mogi's cat. Of course, we did the same thing last year with Jace's new cat, and his cat is now called Jace. Which is a great name. And we just couldn't come up with one. It's been three weeks now. Now, it's too long to go without a name for a pet, so we thought we'd put it to the audience. This is a binding referendum. We came up with three options.
4:45That's right. So we had three of the main options that had received the most interest from you, the listeners on 3483. We then made a poll on Instagram. The poll is now finished, and we have a winner.
4:56Keyzie:A clear winner, Keezy? Hang on. Just a reminder of the names. Moggy Minogue, which was my choice. It's quite good. Spoof, which was Hoody J's choice. and Birdshit Chris, which was Mogi's choice, which I hate because it doesn't make sense. Why would you call a cat that? It doesn't make any sense. But the audience have had their say. In third place, 15 % of the vote, Mogi, my choice. Oh, I'm surprised by that. Never mind, Keezy. Now, drumroll for the official name of Mogi's new cat.
5:36Jase:With how much? Huh? With how much? What percentage? 63%. Wow. More than half. Sorry, that's a really long drum roll. Let me do another one. Start again.
5:5063 % of the vote. Mogi's cat is now called...
5:59Jase:It was the only possibility.
6:01Keyzie:Like I said at the time, when that came as an option, Mogi, let's just forget all the other options. We know what it's going to be. 100%.
6:10Jase:Well, 63%.
6:11Keyzie:How do you think your little one will take the fact that her cat's now called Birdshit Chris?
6:21Jase:Well, it's tricky because we've got a swear jar. Yeah. We've got a swear jar, so this is going to even it up a little bit. The swear jar operates only when I swear, obviously, because my daughter doesn't. But she starts throwing that name around. You'll get some money back. Yeah, I'll taper my losses a little bit. Can I just, like, your cat's called Birdshit Chris, right? And you're going to tell your daughter, Moggy. Yeah. Moggy Minogi. You're going to tell her that, oh, no, it's not named after Chris at radio. It's just the cat's name. Oh, no. Because she's going to now associate me with that name.
6:51Jase:She's going to want to know the origin. Fair enough. The etymology of the phrase. Yes. And that is at school. At high school. He was five until he was 18. No, that's not true. Sorry, that's right. He did third year, seventh form, so until he was 20. He was known as Birdshit Chris. Yeah. Actually, if she ever asked, could you get her to call me and I'll explain the origin of that? It was one week in high school and it was a joke.
7:19Keyzie:Well, it's not your name anymore, Chris. Yeah, it's been taken over. It's the Cats. Thanks, Michael. Old Keezy, old Birdshit Chris. Here's the killers. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki. Green day there on the Radio Hodaki. Big show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 24 minutes past four o 'clock and a big day for old Keezy. Yeah. A sitting your restricted motorcycle license. Yeah, that's the one. Motorcycle. Motorcycle. Is it motorcycle? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been saying motorcycle. And I've got to say, Keezy, it's the most anxious and nervous I've seen you.
8:00Keyzie:And I would have thought, piece of piss for all, you know, vroom, vroom, keezy. Vroom, vroom, keezy, they call it. Yeah, yeah. But you were pretty anxious, it would seem. Yeah, well, I don't get nervous very often, Jase. You know, live radio, I don't care. Yeah, what airs? What airs? Sweet airs, man. Live TV, yes.
8:18Jase:Pussy's out on the TV. Pussy's out. Oh, gee. Loves it. Yeah, but that's after, like, 20 beers. Yeah, yeah, and today. But, yeah, I went and sent my restricted, and the weird thing was, the last time I did a driving test was, I did my full when I was 17. So it was 17 years ago or something like that. Yeah, yeah. Bloody long time ago. And remembering what it's like to be under test conditions. So if you go over the speed limit slightly, it's okay if you get back down there. But if you hold it over the speed limit for longer than five seconds and that's a mark against you and stuff like that. And checking your mirrors lots, which I do anyway when I drive, guys.
8:52Yeah, yeah. Got it. And turning your head to check your blind spot all the time. Oh, you don't know what's happening back there. You're blind. Who knows? You're flying blind.
8:57Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I don't think your motorcycle would have reached the speed limit anyway, would it? Well, my one that I'm restoring would. Although I wouldn't ride it on the road, Jase, because I'm trying to get it complied at the moment. Oh, okay, yeah. That, by the way, is an absolute debacle. If anyone has any advice on that, feel free to text on 3483. But it was nice because I decided to hire a new motorbike. I went to Coleman's Motorcycles in Grey Lynn. Here he is. I went there.
9:22Jase:Here he is. Old Woody Jay over here. Nice job. Yeah, it was great because he was like, literally, you can take the bike for free. Yeah. Which was great. But why? He just wanted to see a photo of my hog. So you're going to send him a photo of your hog, Keezy? Yeah, I've already sent him. I was a bit like, oh, it's weird that he wants to see my downstairs. Yeah.
9:40Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. But I sent him a couple of photos of it. Any feedback? No, nothing yet. But yeah, shout out. I mean, look, you've got to take these opportunities when you get them, right? And the bike was great. Great. How did you take a photo of your hog? Can I ask? What was your technique? Because you don't have a lot to work with there. No, you're right, Jase. A little button mushroom. Yeah, yeah, because I've got a button mushroom and yours is huge. Who could forget? They call me Aubergine Hoody J. Do they? I went into the work bathroom there. Oh, yeah. And I've still got my motorcycle gears on and stuff, and it had been a big day, so it's nothing pretty to look at.
10:16Yeah, you'd be a bit sweaty.
10:17Jase:Well, that explains why your T-shirt's tucked in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. But, yeah, and then I went and did the test on that. Nothing to worry about. Because when I take photos of my hog and I've got to lift my T-shirt up, I normally put it in between my teeth. Oh, that makes sense. See, that's a good idea. You see, I pulled my shirt up and then pulled it up over the back of my head so it was like I was wearing a little crop top thing. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's hot. And then I just sort of dropped my tweeds, as Jason would say, to the ground and then just did it like that. Yeah, right.
10:47But it's better than paying the$100, I thought.
10:49Keyzie:Yeah, no, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Small price to pay. Yeah, nice guy too. He was pretty interested in my bike as well, so I had a bit of a yarn. What's his name? Alistair. Nice. Yeah, good stuff. Alistair. So how'd you go, Keezy? You know, I passed. Yeah, thank you. Good on you, mate.
11:05Jase:Thanks. It's a big day, isn't it, Keezy? Because it's an hour. You're an hour out on that bastard. Yeah, it is. It's way longer than I thought. It's a long time. Really long time. Because when you get your car one, you drive around the block. That's your lot. Yeah. And so by the end of it, you're like, God. And the whole time I was like, I'm pretty sure I failed this. Yeah. And then at the end, he's like, no, you passed it. and I was told him, I swear I failed it. He's like, why? Yeah. And I couldn't really tell him why.
11:28Keyzie:Did you have to send the instructor a photo of your hog as well? No, he wasn't interested in seeing it. Oh, okay. Yeah, I don't know why. I offered. Well, good on you, mate. That's a great achievement. I mean, I'm sure your wife is stoked that you're now legal to hoon around on your motorbike in the open air and on the road. Incidentally, oh, no, you go, Mogi.
11:50Jase:Well, I was just going to say possibly the best thing to come out of it is now old Pugsone will be making a whole bunch of stings of Broom Broom Keezy. Yeah, yeah, that's true. You've got a whole new name because you just lost your name, Bird Shit Chris, but now you've got Broom Broom Keezy. I tell you what, man, as long as it doesn't have the word Bird Shit in it, you can call me whatever you want. Oh, that's a good idea. Bird Shit Broom Broom Keezy. No, it's not my name. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

12:16Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the red. Hot! Chilli peppers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. This Thursday afternoon, the time is 38 minutes past 4 o 'clock. Let's go to the phone lines. Why is that? Because we played a sting in the middle of a song, I believe. Oh, you mean this one? Yum. Certainly did, Jase. Let's go to the lines. G'day, Kelvin, you mad bastard. How's life? Hey, hoody, J. I'm good, mate. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good. Hey, Kelvin, what do you do for a crust, mate? I'm a tugboat captain. Oh! Backbone. Massive backbone. Huge if true. Huge if true. Are you really a tugboat captain?
13:02Yeah. Yeah, I am.
13:03Jase:Good on you, man. How many of those are there in the country? I work in Australia. Oh! Right. Jeez, there you go, eh? Interesting. Interesting. Hey, Calvin, we've just got a series of questions for you here, man, before we can give you that voucher. It's just a bit of admin we have to go through. Is that all good? Yeah, yeah. It's just our way of checking that you're not AI, that you're a human. Yeah, yeah, it's an AI check. What's for tea, Kelvin? Lens, too.
13:32Keyzie:Okay, got a bit of mash with that, Kelvin? A what? A bit of mash. Potato mash. No. Okay, no, that's all right. The potatoes are in it. Okay, yeah, I got here. Obviously, Jase. This guy's a mad bastard. How often do you floss, Kelvin? Every day. Yeah, good on you, mate. What colour are your undies, man?
13:57Jase:They're blue. They're blue. Good. And, Calvin, what's your deepest fear? Height. Yeah. Oh, okay.
14:08Keyzie:Very good. Yeah. All right. Well, the good news is you've successfully passed the test, and the computer here says that you aren't AI, so you get yourself$50 worth of Reburger, mate. Awesome. Good on you, mate. Awesome. Stay on the line and I'll park somewhere and look after you in Studio B. God, he was stoked, eh? How about that? But he's an Aussie. No, he lives in Christchurch, but he'll fly over and back every now and then.
14:32Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whenever he has to park a boat, he just ducks over there. Oh, right, I got you. Yeah, I got you.
14:38Keyzie:I don't know if they've got Reeburger in Aussie.
14:40Jase:Yeah, no, I think he's all right.
14:42Keyzie:I think he's here. Sweet, sweet. I just freaked out. Sorry, guys, I panicked a little bit there. That's all right, man. Here's Faith No More. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. Jet there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
15:09Jase:Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Oh, that was quick. That was quick from you, Dave and Jase. Dave. Dave, as I like to call you. Dave. Thanks, Andy. Dave with the Emerald. shirt on. Hey fellas, I'm watching a series on Apple television. And it's called The Long Way Home. The Long Way Home, and it's got old your mate there, Ewan McGregor, and his mate, Charlie Borman. His father is John Borman, the film director. Anyway, they've been doing this series where they ride around on motorbikes and they get followed by a film crew, and it started in 2004, was the first season, then they did one in 2007, maybe 2015, and then one, I think it's last year it's come out.
15:50Jase:The original ones are amazing because it's like going through, you know, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Arctic Circle. These absolutely insane bike rides where no motorbike has ever been. These people haven't seen white people. It's incredible. But this one is a bit of a more, the latest one that I'm watching now is a bit of an easier sort of a cruise. They just sort of go out. They're going up through Norway and Scandinavia and all that sort of thing. Absolutely brilliant show. Great. It's exactly what you want from a reality show and a travel show. Travel porn, Kesey, is what it is.
16:30Jase:You're just watching this going, holy hecka, I've got to go to all of these countries. Ewan McGregor is such a good bastard. Charming, nothing bothers him, really easygoing, great stuff. And then every now and again, they crash their motorbikes for a bit of drama. Four and a half stars. Wow.
16:49Keyzie:Buzzies.
16:50Jase:Buzzies, sorry. Massive four and a half buzzies there out of a possible five buzzies. Possible even five. I can't – everybody should watch it. All four seasons, absolutely brilliant. Keezy, you would love it. Yeah. Your missus would love it. Start from 2004 and work your way through, I reckon. Will do. Great stuff, Mogey. And the motorbike crashes and stuff will definitely calm my wife's nerves. Sure love that. To be fair, they make it look worse than it is as a cliffhanger for the next season. Spoiler alert, Ewan McGregor's still alive.
17:21Keyzie:Oh, okay. I started watching Spartacus, House of Usher, which explores a what-if scenario in which Usher survives the events of vengeance and was rewarded with the gladiator school he once survived. The series follows his rise to powers of Dominus. In the brutal world of Roman gladiators, a path he takes with the help of a fierce gladiatrix named Achillea. Forget all that. Who the hell's Usher? Like the singer. Forget all that, what I just said. If you're into buzzies, if you're into ass, if you're into schlong, this is the show for you. And violence. And violence. Filmed in New Zealand. Still filmed in New Zealand.
18:02Keyzie:A lot of New Zealand actors in it, actually. I love the original Spartacus series. So good. If you like that sort of stuff, it should be right up your alley. But what they do too. which is ridiculous they have this very truncated sort of what they I imagine way of way that Romans spoke and it's very truncated and awkward and it's just stupid and they've got F-bombs throughout it so it kind of ruins that kind of whole classical vibe.
18:32Jase:I think I did I watched the first episode and I found the swearing a bit much. Yes Do you know what I mean? There's a lot of F-bombs Too many, too many, not how people talk. Yeah, I think it's trying to be classical,
18:44Keyzie:but it's just not.
18:45Jase:It's stupid. But I think it'll probably even out as the series goes on. Who knows?
18:49Keyzie:Well, I'm not watching anymore. How many buzzies? As a show, I'll give it two buzzies. In terms of buzzies, buttocks and schlong, I'll give it five buzzies. Out of a possible five. And that's called, what is it? Usher? No, no. Spartacus, House of Usher. And that's on three now. Yeah, probably. I don't know. My wife and I started watching in UK. We just randomly found it. Just clicked OK because it's got Amy Lou root. It's called Daddy Issues. She's mid-twenties or something. Gets pregnant. Her mum's run away. Her sister's in jail. Her friends have abandoned her so she has to move in with her father into a flat share situation.
19:24Watched one episode. It's on three now. Pretty enjoyable. We're going to watch it. I'll give it 3.8. Bussies out of 5. And it's called Daddy Issues. We'll let you know how it unfolds.
19:33Jase:She's your mate of White Lotus here with the teeth. With White Lotus and also sex education as well. Yeah, I know that one.
19:39Keyzie:Well, good stuff, Keezy. In the meantime, here's the Ramones. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting to the finish line on this blustery Thursday afternoon. You are listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburgia. Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburgia.
20:11Keyzie:It's a goodie. It's a real good one, isn't it? I've never actually been to an opera before, watching a live opera. I have. Any good? No, it was tedious. I hated it. Hey, just wanted to do a shout-out, though, to all our brothers and sisters in the Bay of Plenty. They've had a hurrah of a time of late. I hope you're all doing okay. There's been some horrendous weather. Also, of course, up the top of the North Island, they've been really under the gun. and hope it's all getting worked out. Hope you're all safe and thinking of you. Yeah, actually, it's affecting very important places when it comes to my family, because obviously you've got Mount Maunganui there in the Bay of Pliny area where I grew up.
20:48And then, in fact, I've stayed at the campground where there's an ongoing search right now. I've stayed there twice.
20:53Keyzie:Horror show. Absolute horror show. And then the east coast as well there, around Gizzy and stuff, that's all getting pummeled. That's where a lot of my family live. Yeah, well, I know my mother-in-law was just driving back from there and they shut the gorge or something, I think. Yeah, they always shut those. They get a hammering. Yes. that coast, honestly. It's terrible. Yeah, well, we're thinking of you. And if there's anything we can do to help, we'll do it on 3483.
21:17Jase:Yeah, any shout-outs for anybody that's helping out there, there'll be people doing massive hours over the coming days. So, yeah, text us up on 3483.
21:25Keyzie:Tell you what, let's have a bit of Metallica, eh, fellas, to fire us up. What do you say? Keen. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Blur there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past five, and I believe, Keezy, we have a few shout-outs. That's right. Keep them coming on 3483. Every text in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher if you'd like to shout-out to anyone who's digging in and helping out with the horrific weather events that have been happening around the country. Shout-out to Storm from Gizzy, who is helping with humanitarian aid.
21:58Shout-out, Storm.
21:59Keyzie:Good on you, Stormy, you backbone. Can you please give a shout out to my best mate, Barry, for digging in deep during the crazy storms. Barry's a good help. Yeah, good on you, Baz. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your backbone.
22:10Jase:Hey, fellas, I had an interesting conversation the other day with my daughter, Mogi Minogi. Such a great name. It's a great name. She's six and a half now. Don't forget the half, I'm just telling you. Anyway, she started all of a sudden talking about Hoity J and just started, I swear to God, because why would I talk about him, Just started talking about Jace. I won't go into detail about what it was, but she sort of led into her putting into order who she thought looked the oldest out of us. Out of the three of us? Yeah, oldest to youngest. Yes. I obviously poked and prodded to sort of, well, shit, we might as well find out the whole list here.
22:49Jase:Let's find out. Okay. This could be really hurtful for some of my workmates. Let's get into this. So I got my phone out, recorded it. Right. And the other thing that she listed was the most handsome out of the three of us. Most handsome, I think, down to ugliest.
23:09Keyzie:Great. I didn't know that was a contender in it, but okay.
23:12Jase:I'm pretty sure. I definitely didn't use the word ugly. I just think I said, is so-and-so handsome? But she did definitely put them into a list. Right, okay. And I thought we could probably ask the audience out there to answer this for us as well. on 3483. Put each of us into a list. Oh, God. Oldest to youngest looking. So who is the oldest looking and who is the youngest looking? Yeah. And put that into a list. And also who is the most handsome down to, we'll call it least handsome. Yeah, I'd rather least. Slash ugliest. Yeah. What about who's the ugliest and who's the least ugly? So that way we're all ugly.
23:54Who's the beauty?
23:55Jase:Who's the beast? We use the word in our conversation, we use the word handsome. So we'll go with that. But I'm interested to see what the audience think as compared to my six-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Right. And we'll play the audio of your daughter shortly. So feel free to text 3483. You can also call us on 800-HAURAKI if you want to give your opinion there. Jase, what's your sort of initial vibe?
24:17Keyzie:Well, I think from my angle, it's all very obvious for Hoody J in terms of who I think the handsomest is. I mean every day I start the show with it You know what I'm saying? So you think she's going to say her old man's the most handsome Well I don't know I can only speak for myself and he's a stud Yeah right He is an absolute Greek god And then I'm probably the next most handsome So that means you're probably the oldest and ugliest Yeah quite possibly Look I'm prepared for all eventualities So am I Who knows what's going to happen This is risky
24:49Jase:Yes it is This is risky content Yeah so feel free to get stuck in 819-3483. Every text in the draw for a$50 re-burger voucher. You can also call on 0800-HAURAKI.
24:58Keyzie:In the meantime, here's Sheehart. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Weezer there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 24 minutes past five o 'clock. Great to have your company wherever you are in this great country of ours. Now, listen, we've opened up Pandora's box here. We certainly have. Mogies. Well, it was your idea, wasn't it? It was.
25:23Jase:It was. So my daughter, I was driving with her the other day, and out of nowhere she started banging on about Hoere J, which led into a, and I'm not sure how we got there, but led into us sort of rating in her eyes who looked the oldest to the youngest and also who was the most handsome after that. So, yeah, we've gone out to the audience here, asked them to let us know who they think, how we each rank and handsome and age. Yeah. And hit us up on 3483. And, geez, man, I think the computer was about to crash. There's that many texts come through. Yeah. What have we done? Absolutely just so many compliments flying through.
26:08Jase:Yeah, I bet. So many compliments. So many about calling us sexy. Yeah. Check this stuff out. Here we go. You're all old and ugly. Shut up and play some more music. Cheers, Amelia.
26:20Keyzie:Yeah, good. You're all ugly bastards. No competition. Okay. Oldest, Jase, then Mogey, then Chris. Most handsome, Jase, then Mogey, then Chris. There we go. Okay, interesting. There you go. Steve from Guidance is by far the hottest once you see past his schnoz. That's you, Jase. Yeah, man. You're all ugly. Cheers, Tyler. I think Keezy looks the oldest because of his weathered, leathery nips. Hoity J is about as handsome as my grandma. Cheers. Yeah, nice. I like that. This is good. Hi, guys. I think Hoity J is by far the best looking. He looks like a potato with a nose, whereas Mike looks like a horse that a ton of bricks fell on.
27:11And Keezy just looks like someone you would try to keep your kids away from. Cheers. Tim says, Jace, oldest and handsomest. Oh. Okay, yeah, nice. I like that. Snout, which must be Mike, middle oldest, least handsome. Disco nips, youngest, obviously, and middle handsome. So that's from Tim. That's from Tim. Tim gets it. Youngest to oldest. This is from Anton. Pug-san, bird shit Chris, old mogy, hoity J's honker, then hoity J. So there's a lot of really great stuff here There is
27:48Jase:Some really great compliments there So yeah, I guess we could
27:55Keyzie:You know, I always think of it in terms of Like, say, talking about us three Yes In terms of the audience Who would you be most horrified If your daughter was going out with someone And they said, Dad, I want you to meet Hoody J No, my new man Yeah But to be fair, picturing a daughter who might be like mid-20s or something. Yeah, it depends on the age of the daughter. I'm saying, I'm saying like, let's say 35, 40. The woman? Yes. Oh, okay. So she's older than me. And she's taking you over to meet the phone. To Paris. Yeah, and they open the door and they see Gisey.
28:32Jase:I think they'd be happy with Gisey.
28:33Keyzie:I think they would be too, especially with your tucked in shirt. I've untucked it now. I'm sick of getting shit from the guy. So we've got to play your daughter's response, but we just got so overwhelmed by abusive texts that we've run out of time.
28:47Jase:Yeah, we'll have to do it up next, will we? Is that your idea? Yeah, after the break. Yeah, yeah. Okay, mate. Yeah, good. The official ranking. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
28:58Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Soundgarden there in the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time being, fellas, 5.37. Just like that.
29:06Jase:Yeah, man. So, fellas, here we are. It's crunch time. I went for a drive with my daughter. For some reason, she started listing us off and rating us as to who looked the oldest, who looked the youngest, who was the most handsome, who was the ugliest. Right. We've gone out to the audience. Stupidly. They've come back. They've absolutely dragged us. Apparently, it looked like a horse that's had a ton of bricks dropped on. That was very good. It's the quote of the day. Yes. So now we're going to hear what Mogi Minogi, my six-and-a-half-year-old daughter, thinks about us. And I think we'll start with, even though the conversation that I had with her, it started with oldest to youngest chat.
29:46Jase:Yes. But we're going to start here, I think, with who she regards as being the most handsome. Who's the most handsomest? You. Yeah, am I? Then who's second? Keezy. Keezy's second. Yeah. And Jace is the last. But is Jace still handsome? Very handsome. Oh, he's very handsome. Wow. Same as you. Same as you. What about Keezy? And Keezy. Yeah. What about Pugs? Same as Pugs. Oh, look at that. You're going pretty good here. Good on you, mate.
30:19Keyzie:I tell you what, I'm going to buy her a new kitten for that.
30:23Jase:Well, you're still handsome, Jason.
30:25Keyzie:I don't see why. I know. I thought I was deeply hurt, but, you know, she redeemed herself. Very handsome, apparently.
30:32Jase:Jason, I don't see why I should be punished for her writing you last. I don't see why you need to get her a kitten.
30:38Keyzie:I tell you what, I won't get her a kitten. I'll get her a bunny rabbit.
30:42Jase:Get her two. The other thing too, though, is she obviously, it's amazing that she thinks her dad's really handsome. That's nice, isn't it? Yeah, it's really nice. She has horses with a pile of bricks dropped on them. She's a horse girl. But she obviously thinks all four of us, even pugs. Even pugs. Even pugs. Even pugs. Apparently he's even handsome. Yeah. So the second clip of audio we've got now. But I will just say, she sounded gutted that I was the most handsome. If you just play the start. Right, okay, here we go. But who's the most handsomest? Yay.
31:15Keyzie:Yay.
31:15Jase:Yeah, she does sound gutted. She's not happy about it.
31:17Keyzie:No, I don't think she sounds gutted. I feel like she feels she has to say that. Yeah, you're right, actually. You know what I mean? That could be right. That could be right. She was, you know, like, oh, I better tell Dad he's handsome. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, that's nice. I'll take that. Okay, so it's been decided. In order of most handsome, it goes Mogey, then me, then Jase. And then Pugs. And then Pugs. Now, who is the oldest? Should we play this one? Let's go.
31:45Jase:Who looks the youngest, would you say, out of me and Keezy and Jase? Jase. You think Jase looks the youngest? Yeah. And then who?
31:57Keyzie:Keezy.
31:58Jase:What?
32:02Jase:You're saying I look the oldest, buddy Yeah What? Okay, so she's got to screw loose then Because Jace is the youngest looking Yeah
32:11Keyzie:Are you kidding me? A lot of people tell me that Oh, Pugs, he's just mentioned something That's a good point It might be done on height Because kids see something small
32:23Jase:She's associating the age with height With height Right But then, I'm slightly taller than you, Mogi Yeah, but she probably wouldn't notice the difference really. Because you're also further away when she normally sees you, so you'd be a little bit shorter. I think you're right. I think she thinks you're the youngest because you're the shorter. She thinks you're like a puppy.
32:40Keyzie:I feel like you guys are clutching at straws there, and I think you need to just take it on the chin that Mogi Minogi thinks I'm the youngest looking, and I wouldn't be the first person to think that. Yeah. I'm worried about her now. Tell you what.
32:56Jase:She might need glasses, man. I'll tell you what, I'm going to ask her tonight why she thinks that and we'll find out tomorrow. Yeah, good idea. This is a tune. Turn it up. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed.
33:08Keyzie:The Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon, the time being 5.49.
33:14Jase:Do you like the Foo Fighters, fellas? Who doesn't? We'll take them, to be honest. You were just doing a great job of eardrumming then, Chase.
33:20Keyzie:No, I was dancing. Was that what that was? Yeah, that was me dancing. What about Fat Freddy's drop? Oh, hell yeah. Yeah, now we're talking. Hey, they are going on tour in May to celebrate the 20-year mark of Based on a True Story, their first album.
33:36Jase:Remember when that came out, Keezy? I was down in Wellington there. I'd just moved back from Australia, and they released that album. It sold out immediately, and that was a self-released album. They weren't signed to any record label or anything like that. They did it all themselves, and it sold out so quickly. and it was all off just the back of the fact that they'd toured so heavily and were so well-known around the country, one of the biggest sort of underground bands, and it just went straight to number one and stayed there for a number of weeks. Huge seller, platinum very, very quickly. Sounds a bit like our podcast vinyl.
34:13Yeah, very similar to our limited edition podcast vinyl we recorded. I'll always remember, too, the first time I actually heard Fat Freddy's drop was I saw the video clip of them running the fish and chip shop, Wandering Eye and various well-known New Zealanders come in and order fish and chips and I was like oh this is cool this is a good band
34:30Keyzie:I didn't like that video well if you are keen to see based on a true story played in its entirety they are returning to stages in May nine shows across Auckland Wellington and Christchurch so plenty to choose from there all the details are up at hodaki.co.nz at the gigs page however if you would like to win tickets for you and three mates that's four mates to Freddy's text FAT to 3483. FAT. Now, is that F-A-T or P-H-A-T? F-A-T, like Fat Freddy's. Okay, just clarifying. How's Fat Freddy's spelled? Is it P-H-A-T? P-H-A-T. P-H-R-E-D-D. Is it like that? No, it's F-A-T, Keezy. Oh, okay, just chill on, man.
35:14Keyzie:Oh, that's exciting, man. It is. And we're trying to organise a little hodaki staff outing to one of the Auckland gigs. So you guys be keen for that?
35:22Jase:Oh, 100%. I haven't seen them for a long time. I'd love to get along to that. What day is that, Keesey? No, no, it's going to be in May. Jase, would you be interested if the entire staff... I actually don't think Jase would like it, man. I don't think it's up your alley, man. Really? I think it would look so cool with you listening to Fat Freddy's with that emerald shirt on. Yeah, especially if you're going to, you know, dance like you were just before to the Foo Fighters. Plus, you always have a wandering eye. Here's Pearl Jam. Ah. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki
35:53Keyzie:Tune fellas Tune Pearl Jam there on the Radio Hauraki Big show this Thursday afternoon The time being 5.56 Now Kesey apparently after 6 o 'clock Has a great idea for a prize giveaway Yeah I certainly do Jase I was clearing out my house the other day It was actually this thing is in the boot of my car It has been for a while And I was like to me it's worthless I want to get rid of it Yeah right But I think it has a lot of value and people would be thrilled to actually win it. Right. But I'll run it by you guys after six and see what you reckon. Yeah, very excited. I can't think what it could be.
36:27Yeah, no. Nah, it's good, man. Trust me, it's worth sticking around for.
36:30Keyzie:It's not some sort of weird sex toy or anything, is it? No. The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in. Weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Thursday afternoon. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reeburger. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats. That will change the game.
37:09What the heck? I was dreaming about Reeburger again. Oh, my God. It was so crave-worthy. but it was gourmet and it was street food. Yum! So good, fellas.
37:24Keyzie:I wonder if that person that was telling that story there woke up with a rage.
37:31After dreaming about Ree Burger. Oh, yeah, true. Yeah, man, totally. Yeah. Do you guys ever dream about eating stuff?
37:40Jase:No. Because I've heard people that dream about, like, and it's probably a joke, Like they dream of eating marshmallows and they wake up and they're eating a pillow. But I've never actually dreamt of eating anything. Not that I can remember, no. It's funny, isn't it?
37:54Keyzie:I tend to dream about people leaving me. Yeah. Or dying. Did you dream anything like that last night? I had another shocking sleep last night, but I can't remember my dream. That's good. It was probably in that vein. Yeah, it's a shame because I'd love to hear about it on the radio because it's good content.
38:15Jase:Good chat. You know, they say if you're in a dream and you're...
38:19Keyzie:He's cruising for a bruise in old Gizzi.
38:21Jase:And you jump out of a plane, for example, and your parachute doesn't open and you hit the ground and then you die in your sleep. You heard that one before? I've heard that. If you actually die in your dream, but you always wake up just at the right time. Yeah. But then how would they know that that's what you were dreaming has always been my question. Yeah. You see what I'm saying? There's a hole in the argument, Jase. Yeah.
38:39Keyzie:Did I tell you the time I dreamt about, what were they? Buzzies? Twins? Oh, I have a few buzzy dreams. Translucent rats. Ah. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Placebo there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. Well, it's evening really now, isn't it, fellas? Hey, so hit us, Keezy. What have you got to offer the punters out there with your amazing prize? Yeah, yeah. So I was clearing out my car the other day and there's something in the boot that's been in the boot for a wee while. And I thought, man, this is a pain in the ass. I should give this away.
39:17Then I thought, would anyone like this? I think so. I think people would like it. I think it's a great prize. I think it could get great interest because we're running that other prize at the moment where I name our boat. Yes. Where if you text boat 3483, you go on the draw to win a$75 ,000 boat. Yes. Thanks to fin chaser boats. That's right. So that's happening at the moment. I think this could be on par with that. And the boot of my car for the last half a year has been the crutches that I used when I blew my quad at the relay.
39:49Jase:Did you get those from the hospital? Yeah. Kate put them on her work card, so now I own crutches. Wow. And they are super annoying. Right. But that's like radio history, isn't it, fellas? Surely that's a great giveaway. Well, I think you should. And look, there's an idea of you giving them away, but I think you should have them mounted and put on the wall in your lounge to remind you of how you let us down. Well, see. That was a brutal day for sure. It was. And I don't want to open the boot of my car every day and see the crutches sitting there. Yeah. And I don't know what to do with them. So I was like, hey, man, listeners would love these crutches.
40:27Yeah.
40:27Keyzie:You know, Keezy, and I'm not being a dick here, I can relate to this because, as you know, we're packing up at the moment. And the amount of times my wife and I have said, well, we could just biff it. And it's like, but do you think someone would actually like this? Someone would actually use this? Well, that's the thing, right? Someone probably has an injury and can't afford to buy the crutches. I think they're worth$20. But I've got a perfectly good set of crutches here. It's very cheap. It is very cheap.
40:55Jase:Very cheap. Yeah. Well, it's the sort of thing that I would be dropping off in your case, Jase. You go to the sellies. They'll take anything. We've done that a couple of times. Don't even take your old clothes.
41:04Keyzie:Old Moneybags Hoity J is like, well, put it on Trade Me. And my wife's like, I just can't be arsed with that.
41:10Jase:No, she's used to spending on that, not making money. She wouldn't know how to do it. Yeah, well, that's true. Yeah, because she doesn't know that you can sell on there, does she? God, I hope she's not listening right now. You were saying off here. I'm just quoting you. Yeah, well, it is a little piece of history. I reckon we should – there'll be people texting in on 3483. Highest bidder, man.
41:29Keyzie:Well, I just kind of feel like they've got a real shortage of crutches at the hospital. I mean, the decent thing to do would be to give them back to the hospital and not ask for anything for them. I've genuinely been thinking about doing that. Is that something I should do? Do I just take it back to the hospital somewhere and just go, hey, I bought these.
41:47Jase:Just drive around the roundabout, open your window and chuck them out. You reckon? Yeah, some person in need. Some broken down son of a bee will pick them up.
41:58Keyzie:Yeah, right. I tell you what, another thing you can do is put them on your street. On the curb. On the curb there. People love that stuff. Yeah, they do. They just come and butcher it, get into it. Okay.
42:10Jase:Yeah. So you don't think it's good as a prize? Prize? Depends who's competing. What? Okay. Yeah.
42:23Jase:Yeah.
42:24Keyzie:It does depend who's competing.
42:27Jase:You know, like some kind of a runner or something that's done their legs, you know, or both their legs? Oh, right, like someone with no legs. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Guns.
42:42Keyzie:Roses there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show, this rather pleasant Thursday evening. Now, if you've been paying attention and you love your basketball, you need to listen up, New Zealand. Yeah. Way to go, Keely. Hit them with the admin. Oh, okay, cool. Well, the BNZ Breakers, they are a fantastic basketball team. They are, man. Their home games are usually at Spark Arena up here in Auckland. And we have got – they also travel around the country. They do. Which is exciting. You know, go Hamilton, go down south and stuff. We have a backbone bench, which is right on the sideline there. You and three mates get to go along.
43:18You get free food, you get drinks, you get backbone T-shirts, and you get to be close to the action. This is happening tomorrow night again against the Adelaide 36ers at 7.30pm. And we've got old Matt on the line.
43:28Keyzie:G'day, Matt, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Yourself? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. So you like a bit of basketball action there, Matt, obviously. Yeah, obviously, obviously. How are the boys going this season thus far? That's a really good question, Chase. I'm happy to ask you the same thing, actually. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How have they been going? How have they been going, man? Pretty averagely, to be honest. but, you know, hopefully will, you know, kick into gear.
43:55Jase:You're saying, Jace, off here that one of their star import players having a hell of a year. Yeah, he is.
44:01Keyzie:I'll tell you one thing about the breakers. They're good on their imports.
44:06Jase:Well, yeah, except he just got injured and he's out for the rest of the season.
44:09Keyzie:Oh, that one. Oh, okay, yeah. Hey, Matty, have you got three mates to take with you? I reckon I could scratch up at least two. Yeah, yeah, nice. Nice. And then the fourth one, do you want Hoity J to go with you, man? Because he's a big fan of the Breakers. Oh, I mean, yeah, sure. Lock it in, Jase. Yeah, yeah. Wear your emerald shirt, man. That'd be pretty special for you, Matt. I'm sure having old Hoity J riding the pine with you there. So you enjoy that moment. Wait, wait, wait. Matt, what do you do for a crust? Chippy. Oh, yeah. Actually, maybe I will go because there's some work I need done around my house and I could use a chippy.
44:51Keyzie:Oh, your bloody dick falling over again, is it? Yeah, it's completely falling apart, actually. Matt, I'll get your number later on. But no, seriously, mate, you enjoy that. Make sure that you give us a call tomorrow. Oh, no, it is tomorrow that it's happening, isn't it? What do you want to give us a call tomorrow about?
45:06Jase:No, you just want us to send us some photos of you enjoying the event, mate. Thank you. Thank you. Responsibly, of course. Yeah, massively responsibly. Good on you, Matt. You and three mates head to the breakers, mate. You hold the line there and old Pugs will sort you out, all right? Cheers, fellas. No worries. He seems like a nice guy. He seems like a really nice guy. You love chippies, don't you, Jase? I love a chippy. Don't steal more chippies. Oh, June. Smazz-a-pazzes.
45:32Keyzie:I'll tell you what, actually, on the chippy front, it's running pretty low in the old box here. Might have to crack open another one. I wouldn't know, man. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
45:51Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted this Thursday afternoon. Now, on the podcast outro today, it was predominantly about Keezy being in a whore of a mood. Totally. As you can see from the following clip, sleep chat. Plus, you've got probably a bit of adrenaline too with the move and the new shirt. You know, there's a lot going on.
46:17Jase:There is a lot going on. Which one's a bigger deal for you, moving? Or your new emerald shirt?
46:24Keyzie:I don't know, man. I wore this shirt the other day, and I went, oh, I quite like that. And my wife's a tea, it makes the green in your eyes come out.
46:33Jase:I think they have more bloodshot than green.
46:35Keyzie:Oh, f*** off, man. Oh, very good. Just for the record, I'm wearing a short-sleeved green shirt today. Very nice. I have worn before in the show, but the fellas are giving me a bit of jip about it being you. No, we're not. It's not jip. It's just when you wear a brand new t-shirt. Yeah, a brand new shirt. A brand new button-up shirt. I go, wow, a nice emerald shirt. I do.
47:00Jase:We all said very nice. And, Jase, you couldn't take the compliment. You got defensive saying, I've worn it before. I don't remember. It was just something about the use of the word emerald. The thing about it is, if he wore that, I would remember. I'd remember a shirt like that. You don't forget a shirt like that. Not emerald. Not emerald, dude. I don't think I've ever seen an emerald shirt.
47:16Keyzie:Hey, Mogey, what's the plan tonight, mate?
47:19Jase:I've got a mate over tonight, and you'll be catching up with him, and then I've got a bit of work to do as well. I'm looking forward to dinner, though. I don't know what it is, but I'm hungry. I'm bloody hungry. What's your mate's name? His name is Tim. Tim Foley. He's an actor. Oh, him. He's the man. Yeah, yeah, he is the man. So, yeah, he's coming over. It should be bloody good to see that bastard there. But what's for dinner? Yeah, good question. Speaking of which, what is for dinner, Keezy? Text me on 3483 next week. Okay. And you might want a re-burger voucher. For tea tonight, we are having smash burgers.
47:51Smash pats.
47:52Jase:Jase doesn't like that, man. Why are they smashed? See? I don't know. They're brand new ones have just come out. My wife's bringing them home from work. She's like, do you want to try the new smash burgers? And I was like, yep. Jase isn't happy, man. What? You're not happy with me having a smash burger?
48:05Keyzie:No, I mean, I'm perfectly happy with a homemade burger, fellas. Just when you put the smash in there, I go. What are we doing? It's like smashed avocado. I like go. But you're going to swear at a smashed avocado. Good stuff. What are you doing tonight, Emerald Boy? I'll continue packing. I believe we've got a roasted vegetable couscous salad with chicken kabobs. That sounds foul. That sounds delicious. I mean, foul. See ya! Bye.
