0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger.

0:09Keyzie:Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad bastards. It's great to have you coming here on this glorious Thursday afternoon. It is the 27th of August, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.

0:31Mike Minogue:Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Reburger.

0:36Keyzie:Jeez, what an afternoon, Moggy, and what a man you are, you Greek god, you stallion, you stud. How's life, man? Look, I'll be honest with you, man, I'm going pretty grouse, you mad dog. You're sick, sick son of a bee. One of the great days in our lives today, Jase. We're on the go. We're on the home stretch. We're counting down to number one, Benny. Yeah, boy. I think it's the fifth time we've done it. Yes, I think so. Gets better every year, baby. What do you reckon, Keezer?

1:07Mike Minogue:You mad dog. Yeah, good. I'm excited. I reckon that, yeah, 100%. I'm also, I'm going to be completely honest, we went to Rebeer here before the show. Yeah, we did. And might have overordered and also overeaten. Yeah. So I'm just sort of stewing in my own filth over here.

1:24Keyzie:Yeah, you're just a bit sleepy, Keezer. Yeah, a bit sleepy. Hey, but the GOAT, we're down to the final stages. This whole countdown's been epic. I've been loving it, and so have the people.

1:34Mike Minogue:That's right, Jase. Shall we rip straight back into it? I think so. Ready? You're right. This is the GOAT, the countdown for real music connoisseurs. All right, fellas. First song from the GOAT in our show today, the final day of the greatest of all time countdown. This song last year in 11th spot. It's dropped back two places. Oh, okay, okay. Doesn't stop it from being one of the all-time tunes. And, of course, if you're at a pub and this song comes on, everyone's hitting the dance floor. Here you go. The Goat. The countdown for real music connoisseurs.

2:09Keyzie:13. The Killers. Mr. Brightside.

2:12Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

2:16Keyzie:Oh, yes, indeed. Rage against the machine there. Killing in the name coming in at number 12 on the Goat countdown. I tell you what, fellas. you can't have any kind of countdown without Rage featuring very, very heavily.

2:30Mike Minogue:100%, Jase. Former winner of the greatest of all time countdown, of course. Rage Against the Machine down seven spots last year, finishing fifth. So I don't know what that says.

2:40Keyzie:There's been a few topsy-turvy sort of results in this one. Things change, man. They do. The goat changes. I've seen Rage Against the Machine twice in my life, fellas. First time was at the big day out in 1996. 26. Not a bad line-up, this one. Porno for Pyros, Rage Against the Machine, Rancid, Tricky, Nick Cave in the Bad Seats. Oh, how good. The Prodigy was probably the massive other one. And then they broke up, which was great, because then I got to be somebody who could say, who's the best band you've ever seen? I got to say, oh, Rage. Rage, I saw Rage. And now they've broken up, so you can't see them.

3:15And then, sadly, they got back together and they came back. I saw them in 2008. Not as good a line-up that year. Bjork, Arcade Fire, LCD Sound System, and Dizzy Rascal. Top four. Top four band I've ever seen live.

3:31Keyzie:Yeah. Unbelievable. Great energy. Great power, fellas. Now, listen, we want two things from you, the audience, today. We want to know where you're listening to the countdown and your speculation as to perhaps what the number one might be.

3:47Mike Minogue:That's right. Text through on 3483. three every text in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher like Dylan's done here. He's just texted through Inglebert Humperdinck for number one. Yeah. Which obviously is my GOAT.

3:56Keyzie:Well, as you can imagine here at Hauraki, there's been some fierce arguments about what number one's going to be. None of us know, of course. So looking forward to it. Should we get back to it?

4:07Mike Minogue:Absolutely, Hoity J. Number 11 for you now.

4:09Keyzie:The GOAT on Radio Hauraki. 11. Guns N' Roses. November Rain.

4:18Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Gums.

4:27Keyzie:Roses there on the goat countdown. Coming in at number 11, fellas. Epic tune.

4:33Mike Minogue:Epic. It is epic. Up two spots from last year. Finished 13th, November rain. Nine minutes of power ballade awesomeness. Yeah. That's what they call it. Yeah. Speaking of the goat fellas, we've got the goat producer in with us, old Bug Sun. Ooh, it's Pug Sun. Chris, that's really nice of you to say, man. Thank you. Thanks, mate. Cheers.

4:57Keyzie:Big night for you last night, Pug Sun. Your lovely, lovely partner. It was her birthday. God, you were angsty all day yesterday. It was. It was tense, man. I can't blow this. I can't blow this.

5:15Mike Minogue:Walking on eggshells.

5:16Keyzie:Yeah, he was. He had his white blazer on. Yeah, the white blazer. He was eating a tomato soup too. I was freaking out about that. It was a shirt.

5:24Mike Minogue:You were eating a shirt? Yeah. It doesn't make any sense. But the reason we got you in here, Pugs, is we just want to know how it all went yesterday, what you did for your partner's birthday. Have you heard the saying in a relationship, there's always one punching? Yeah, I've heard it, but I don't see why you would. Dumbs, that's why we're just checking in. How'd it go? What did you put on yesterday? So, start of the day. Obviously, she...

5:50Keyzie:We don't want to know the, you know, the start of the day details. I thought that's exactly what you were. Well, I mean, that's fine. Start of the day, I had... I'll just stop you there. Can I just say that early on in a relationship, it's very, very important. The birthdays are very important. I think this is only the second one that she's had. Yes. So, it is very important. So, the pressure is on, Pugs, and you'd be rating yourself here. wanting to make sure that she's a happy lady. I will say this.

6:16Mike Minogue:I think the pressure was more on me from myself rather than her. Oh, totally. So I had baked my first ever cake. I baked her favourite cake, which is a carrot cake. You're normally baking brownies. Yeah. Thanks, Moggy. Was it a carrot cake? Yeah, it was a carrot cake. I agree, Jase. I don't like carrot cake. Does she like carrot cake? Yeah, it's her favourite. Yeah, it's her favourite. It's her favourite cake.

6:37Keyzie:Can I ask with the carrot cake?

6:39Mike Minogue:We're not going to get through this whole yard.

6:42Keyzie:Did it have cream cheese? It did. It had cream cheese icing on there. That's okay then.

6:47Mike Minogue:So started the day with that. Surprised her with that. Brought her into the kitchen. Candles lit. Said happy birthday. Is that the surprise? You didn't slam it into her face? Because that's always a good surprise. That would be great. That would have been really surprising. You were going to raise your hand there. No, no. Then we opened gifts. Stay on track, Pugs, if you could. We had coffee and cake and we opened gifts. Gave her a couple of gifts there. She had gifts from my family, her family. What did you get her? What did I get her? You heard him. We didn't look here. What do you mean? I'll tell you this.

7:19Mike Minogue:One of them has not yet arrived because it's custom made coming in from Melbourne. So I've got an unexpressed post. So I got her a couple of other little ones just to say, this will tide you over, Dale. So I got her a book from her favourite comedian. Box of chocolates. And I got her a record from her favourite band. And some carnations from DeServo. Sorry, if I can just, you asked. Sorry, Pugs, we just need to move this along. Yeah we do Anyway So that was the morning Blah blah blah blah Set her off to work Had lunch with her yesterday With a mate And then last night Went home and I'd surprised her And I took her out to an Italian joint How did she not know about that?

7:55Mike Minogue:She didn't know where Oh What's the name of that restaurant? The name of it Yeah It's called Bossy Bossy Oh hard face B-O Yeah Sorry I thought it was spelt How's it spelt?

8:09Mike Minogue:Go on Kesey What are you talking about? Can I just say, Pugs, we were here doing the show yesterday and your lovely, lovely partner came in. Yes, she is. And she said to you what exactly about how she was feeling. Oh, this is great. So anyway, it turned into a bit of a go easy on Pugs Day today. We had a late night. Anyway, by the way, so she comes in and she's got plans to have a birthday dinner with all her closest friends tomorrow night. And she walks in and I gave her that. she comes in and she goes, it just doesn't feel like my birthday, you know? Yeah. How'd that make you feel? I told her that we joked about that.

8:47Mike Minogue:She was absolutely gutted. Yeah. She'd had a shocker. She'd had a shocker. It's a real kick in the gut. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll leave her if I were you. Anyway, we broke up. Yeah, yeah, good. Long time coming. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown.

9:09Keyzie:Music so good, we should charge you. Instead, we're paying you. Bloody Oats. We've still got hundreds of dollars to give away, fellas. It's going to be sad to end not just, you know, the goat, but also the cash giveaways.

9:25Mike Minogue:I know what you mean, Jase. It's always good to give stuff away here on Hauraki, but word to the wise. Yeah, man. Once the goat finishes today, we've got another massive giveaway to announce.

9:33Keyzie:Oh, boy. A huge. Boy, do we.

9:36Mike Minogue:It makes$100 look pretty tiny.

9:38Keyzie:Yeah. Well, let's go to the phone lines. And g'day, Hayden, the mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good, mate. Yo? Yeah, good. Thanks, Hayden. Tell me, have you been enjoying the countdown, mate? I've been loving this goat. It's been bloody brilliant. A few beers? Oh, of course. That's what I'm saying. Could have you been enjoying other stuff as well as the countdown, Hayden?

10:01Mike Minogue:Hey, Hayden, what do you do for a crust, brother? Hey, mate. So I actually draw fuel tankers. Oh, wow. Do you really? What a backbone. Out on the ocean there. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. On the roads. On the roads. A few beers. Oh, of course.

10:20Keyzie:Yeah, good on you, mate.

10:22Mike Minogue:Yeah, good stuff.

10:22Keyzie:Well, I tell you what, Hayden, you've just become a very, very rich man. You're 100 bucks richer, mate.

10:30Mike Minogue:Oh, that's bloody brilliant. Cheers, mate.

10:33Keyzie:Good on you, mate.

10:33Mike Minogue:No worries, brother. Hayden, you hold the line there and old Pugsan will give you a good scene too, all right? Nah, that's brilliant. Cheers, fellas. Good on you, mate. It's almost like we've hypnotized him, you know, because he's going to wake up tomorrow with no memory of that. Yes, but a rich man. But a rich man. He's going to look at his account and go, what?

10:52Keyzie:What the heck is that$100? Hey, fellas, are you getting excited because we're down to the last nine songs, man, into the top ten. How good. Yeah, man. Well, I've been excited for nine days, and the excitement has been growing. Because what I love about this countdown is people have got their favourites, but they've also got songs that they hate. Yes. And people have got a real passion about one song in particular. We'll talk about it soon, but people really don't want to see one particular song get voted in that number one position. I think I know which song we're talking about. They don't mention any other song.

11:26It's this one song that they don't want to be there, and we'll talk about that soon. It's very interesting

11:32Mike Minogue:100 % It is the business end of the goat Fellas Which is my favourite end of the goat Should we crack on? Come on Kesey What?

11:39Keyzie:Come on man Hey Just a reminder Tell us where are you listening to the goat And what do you think is going to be number one Let's get back to it

11:46Mike Minogue:3483 by the way Every text in the drawer for 50 bucks worth of rebeg year

11:50Keyzie:The goat It's music's ultimate scoreboard On Radio Hauraki Nine Pink Floyd Comfortably numb

11:59Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

12:05Keyzie:Foo Fighters Everlong number eight on the GOAT Countdown, fellas. Yeah, it's a hugely popular song, but it's a controversial song. It is, it is. It's been the winner before, but it is the only song where we get messages saying, oh, I don't care what number one is, as long as it isn't Everlong by the Foo Fighters. Right, yeah. People absolutely fear me. Beard Not Be This Year. Then someone texted in when it started playing, oh, thank F, still shouldn't even be in the top 10. People take it really personally. Well, this is the thing. I love the passion. And obviously, thousands upon thousands of people love it.

12:43Keyzie:That's right. They do like it. Thus, it does very well.

12:46Mike Minogue:For me, right, the Foo Fighters is a band that has never clicked with my brain in a way that says, yes, this is one of the great rock bands. I listen to Guns N' Roses and I think, yep, amazing rock band. I listen to Pearl Jam, yep, the Chili's, whatever it might be. I listen to Foo Fighters and I go, oh, yeah, it's all good. To me, and this could be controversial, the Foo Fighters are like the Marvel movies of music.

13:08Keyzie:Right, okay.

13:08Mike Minogue:Hugely popular but tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people. You know what I mean? But kind of in my eyes a bit generic. I mean, music, what is it called? It's objective.

13:17Keyzie:Yes.

13:18Mike Minogue:And that's how I feel about them. So I am kind of in the camp of that shouldn't be number one.

13:22Keyzie:Right, fair enough. Hey, now listen, people have been texting in on 3483 around the country. People are locked in, Keezy.

13:29Mike Minogue:They certainly are, Jase. As you said, people texting in saying either damn robbed forever long or yes, stoked it didn't win. Someone's suggesting that it should have been the number one because they are coming here soon to perform live. Matt here is listening from his cuck chair, whatever that is. Tradition for the last three years has been to take the day off work on the last day of the Hodaki Goat Countdown.

13:52Keyzie:Now you're talking.

13:53Mike Minogue:And someone has organised an entire responsible-sounding drinking game around that, which is good. G'day, fellas. Listening to the goat in my work van, speculating that the big cheese will be Nirvana. Smells like teen spirit. Oh, okay. Yeah. So there's a lot of speculation going on. I should also say that we don't know what number one is. No. And I don't know what the rest of the songs are from here until number one. Yeah, and that's intentional as well, because we could go ahead and have a look, but we're not going to. No way. I tell you what, though, fellas, is this next tune that we're about to play huge after certain events that happened last year, a huge surge in popularity.

14:27Mike Minogue:Yeah, let's do it. Number seven.

14:30Keyzie:The Goat.

14:31Mike Minogue:You know, we've got the goat here. Everybody piss off.

14:33Keyzie:The countdown to real music connoisseurs on Radio Hauraki. Number seven, Black Sabbath, Warpigs.

14:43Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

14:49Keyzie:Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Thursday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you by Reburger.

14:59Mike Minogue:Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change the game. Reburger. And fellas, Reburger have just launched four brand new stores across Auckland. You've got Avondale, Botany Junction, Key Street and also one down in the Auckland CBD. and to celebrate 100 free burgers at each of these new stores this Sunday. So if you're in Auckland, go to one of those stores, chances are you're about to get a free burger from Reeburg.

15:25Keyzie:Oh, yeah, boy.

15:26Mike Minogue:How good is that, fellas?

15:27Keyzie:It's real good. I'll tell you what's even better, though. Can you? The GOAT Countdown. Are you ready? You're right!

15:35Mike Minogue:This is the GOAT, the countdown for real music connoisseurs.

15:40Keyzie:Sure is. Top six. Down to the top six. Jeez. The business end of the go.

15:48Mike Minogue:Six songs to go, fellas. This next tune coming up. There's actually one song in the top six, which didn't even feature in the countdown last year. Yeah, it's amazing. And this happens from year to year. There are certain songs just all of a sudden people discover and just fall in love with. Well, resonate suddenly. Resonate. Yes. This song here, however, there is no bones about it. This one was in the top five usually every single year of any countdown around the entire globe. Should we rip into it?

16:16Keyzie:Yeah, let's do it. Number six. The Goat. This is one of the greatest. It's like the Michelin guide for music. On Radio Hauraki. Six. Led Zeppelin. Stairway to heaven.

16:28Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

16:34Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Number six on the Goat Countdown. Stealway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin. That's got a very special place in my heart, that tune, fellas. Why is that, mate? That song, True Story, was playing in the background the first time I ever made love. Is that right? Yeah, man. So it really, it's very special to me. That would have been nice. I may have voted for it. Wow. Yeah.

17:02Mike Minogue:So that would have been perfect for you because you could have, you know, been all done and dusted, and then you could have listened to the lyrics, you know, because they come in a bit later. Yeah, totally.

17:09Keyzie:Yeah, that was exactly what happened. We made love three times before it was over. Who did? Me and the person I was with. Person.

17:20Mike Minogue:Hey, I mean, Led Zeppelin, there's no bones about it when it comes to these guys, right? No bones, man, absolutely none. One of the all-time great rock and roll bands, I think last year, Keezy, did you say they finished at number four? Number four, yeah. Okay, yeah, that's about right. It's a weird name, isn't it? It's one of those names that's always been around, but of course the members of that band came from various other bands, and then the members of those bands said that band is going to suck. And they said it's going to go down like a lead balloon, so they made their name Led Zeppelin.

17:48Yeah. Isn't that weird? Was it the Yardbirds? There was a little bit of Yardbirds. Yeah. A little bit of, have you heard of Megadeth? Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A little bit of lemon zest?

17:59Keyzie:A little bit of cracked pepper?

18:00Mike Minogue:Yeah, beautiful. Beautiful. Of course, Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven, always features highly.

18:05Keyzie:Yeah, great stuff. Hey, keep those texts coming, by the way, on 3483. Let us know where you're listening to the goat and what you think the number one's going to be.

18:13Mike Minogue:Actually, here's a good guess. Dolly Parton for number one. Well, Ozzy Osbourne had a huge effect last year, so Dolly Parton, she might be? Imagine. You have to stay tuned to find out, fellas. Here's an interesting one, a song in the top five that didn't feature at all in last year's goat countdown. Here you go. The Goat on Radio Hauraki.

18:33Keyzie:Number five, Alice in Chains. Nutshell, unplugged.

18:38Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

18:45Keyzie:Who is a f***ing guy?

18:48Mike Minogue:The Goat. Call 0800-HAURAKI-NOW to win an instant hundi cash. There you go, fellas. Alice in Chains. Nutshell. Yeah, man.

18:57Keyzie:I tell you what, in all honesty, I love that tune. Yeah. I love that tune. I would never have gone top 10. No. But we have had so many texts on 3483. Love this tune. It was my pick.

19:10Mike Minogue:Every single, every couple of months, we roll out the Hauraki Music Jury, which is where we get people to text music to 3483. You sign up. You give your thoughts and opinions on the playlist here at Hauraki. And that song from Alice in Chains, for some reason, just resonating massively with our audience at the moment. They're voting for it. They're loving it. So it is amazing. Every year, songs like that just pop up out of nowhere. People fall in love. Out of the box, Keezy. Out of the box.

19:35Keyzie:Hey, I tell you what, we've still got some cash to give away. So should we go to the phone? Oh, no, I don't think we're ready for the phone lines yet. Well, Pugs is still picking someone up. He's just chatting. I was thinking he's probably having a chat to people and picking up the phone. They're like, I voted for that one. Oh, it might be. Or I didn't vote for that one. Things along those lines. But we're going to get some backbone on the phone here. Giveaway. Is this our last$100 that we're going to be giving away? I think so, yeah. Is this it? It's our last hundi. And then we'll be ripping into the final, I think, four songs in the countdown.

20:05Mike Minogue:Yeah. And then once the countdown finishes, fellas, I've been told, we have a massive announcement as well. So good times do not stop. Let's go to the Lions Pugs. He's got someone there for us.

20:13Keyzie:Beautiful. G'day, Sam, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, pretty gross. Yourself? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. You enjoying the countdown? 100%. Yeah, I've been cranking it at work. Yeah, good on you, mate. What do you think your number one's going to be?

20:27Mike Minogue:It's really played, but I was hoping Metallica 1 was going to be it. Yeah. You're in the mood. Do you know what? I was driving along, and that came on. We were in the car, you and me, Hori J, or Pug San, and that came on the radio, and I thought to myself, it's undeniable that this is the best song ever. And I said out loud, undeniable, and Hori J said, what are you talking about? And I said, don't worry about it. Yeah. But I completely agree. One is out the gate. Yeah. It's a massive tune as well. It's like seven minutes of awesome. is there's three different songs woven in there. I'm a huge Metallica fan.

20:59Mike Minogue:And every year, I like to think Metallica's going to be the top five, but for some reason, it just doesn't quite make it.

21:05Keyzie:Yeah, man. Hey, tell me, Sam, what do you do for a crust?

21:08Mike Minogue:Dota.

21:09Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Backbone. I tell you what, man, not anymore. Yeah, I reckon. You got$100, big dog. Exactly.

21:16Mike Minogue:And retire now, fellas. Yeah, mate. You've earned it, man. You could retire or you could buy the business, Sam, up to you, mate. Oh, retire. Yeah, good call. terrible business he was saying off there. Sam, you hold the line, man. Pugs will look after you, alright? Yeah, hold it. Good on you, mate. Fellas, four songs to go in the greatest of all time countdown. Yes. Shall we keep the good times rolling? Yeah, let's do it.

21:40Keyzie:Number four. Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody.

21:44Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

21:50Keyzie:Number four in the goat countdown. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen Mel. It's a classic really, fellas. It's a classic. You can't deny one of the all-time greats. I think in the classic question that you ask each other at the pub, what band would you see if you could? Dead or alive? I think for me it would be Queen. Yeah.

22:08Mike Minogue:Absolutely it would be Queen. Freddie was the man. He was. You might find this hard to believe, fellas, but after I've had a few beers, I go home on the old YouTube there. I'll fire up a certain amount of live concerts from back in the day. One of them, of course, is Queen Live Aid. Yes. and various other concerts as well, your Bowies, your Humperdinks, but Queen Live would just be one of the all-time great experiences.

22:32Keyzie:Well, Freddie Mercury, wasn't he? He was just the consummate lead man. He was born for it. You know what I mean? And I think it's interesting songs like that that doesn't matter what the age, you can go 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, people love it. And that's a sign of an absolute classic.

22:48Mike Minogue:Another sign of an absolute classic is that it was the first ever winner of the GOAT countdown. Way! The very first year we did it. So a huge finish yet again for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody coming in number four this year, fellas.

22:59Keyzie:So here we are at the bronze, silver, and gold stage. Fellas, how are we feeling?

23:04Mike Minogue:Nervous, man. I'm so nervous. I don't know why. I don't have a dog in the race. Don't have a dog in the race? I do. His name's Inglebert, but I don't think he's going to finish anymore. Well, I don't know. You don't know, man. You don't know, man. Yeah, true. You don't. All right, well, the top three coming up next, fellas. Let's get involved. The Horaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Ho-Lang.

23:24Keyzie:Yes indeed, Nirvana. Smells like teen spirit coming in at number 3 on the goat countdown. That was the previous win of that tune, of course, and I feel like I may be historically incorrect here. I feel like that tune's been in the top 3, 5 or 6 years. I may be wrong.

23:42Mike Minogue:Jase, last year it was number 7. Oh, you've had a shock. We're just trying to set this thing up. You've had an absolute shock. I tell you what, Nirvana, a very influential band. Yes. Hoidi J of course Nevermind coming out in 1991 Influencing bands For example like The Foo Fighters Yeah man One of the greats Very influential On that band in particular Keezy A big favourite of yours Yeah wasn't Dave Grohl In both Wasn't he The drummer for Was he You're joking What

24:10Keyzie:Are you serious man But the point I was Trying to make is It's always there Or thereabouts It is It's an absolute tune And in fact I remember Where I was the first time I heard it or saw the video clip sitting in my lounge at Mako Mako Road in Levin and seeing that video clip and hearing it, it was just like, you little beauty.

24:31Mike Minogue:Yeah, that reminds me of the first time I heard Smash Mouth. Oh, come on, man. What?

24:36Keyzie:Well, that just reminds me of what Bono said from U2 when he first heard Nirvana. He was like, what the hell? They just exploded onto the scene. But he said it with the Irish accent. Yes he did Of course he did You're good at an Irish accent aren't you Keezy What did he say What the hell

24:58Mike Minogue:What the hell

25:00Keyzie:Yeah okay Hey

25:04Mike Minogue:That was for the worst of all time Accents coming in at number one Keezy's Irish accent

25:10Keyzie:Okay let's get back to it

25:12Mike Minogue:Just quickly before we do I need the audience to realise Moggy has swapped seats so that he can't see what's coming up because you had in your mind a certain sort of three to four songs. That's right, and it's annoying me because I can't work it out, and so I've got one more song. I do at this point know what the next song is. We have a monitor in studio. You can see song by song, but as soon as this next song, number two, starts playing, then number one will likely become visible to us, and I don't want to know what it is. I want to guess.

25:38Keyzie:Like you, Mogey, I'm going to do the same thing. I'm not looking, alright? Let's get back to the countdown here. New Zealand is your number two. The GOAT, proof that Hauraki listeners have excellent taste. Number two, Pearl Jam, Black.

25:54Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

26:01Keyzie:Tune! Black by Pearl Jam is your number two. God, I love that song. That is a tune, one of the all-time great lyrics. I know someday you'll have a beautiful life. I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why can't it be mine? That's beautiful That's a hell of a lyric You just wrap it up I truly get very emotional every time I hear that song I'm not sure what it is It's just a very powerful song there, Kesey

26:28Mike Minogue:It's bloody good, fellas Of course, from their album 10, 1991 One of the greatest ever years of music There'll be a lot of young folk out there Potentially only know the hits I know growing up you'd only hear sort of the greatest hits of bands And I remember feeling really old when they started releasing the greatest hits of Pearl Jam and it made me really sad because you miss all of the great songs that are on the album, just those tracks that were never released as singles. If you haven't listened to Pearl Jam 10 from start to finish, please go out there and listen to that album. It is unbelievable.

27:01Mike Minogue:I will say this too. I was a relative latecomer to Pearl Jam. In fact, I was born in 91, the same year that that album came out. My first sort of experience with Pearl Jam was I was given their rearview mirror greatest hits. Oh, yes, I know that. That's exactly the one I mean. It's a double, it's a two disc. I think it was about 40 songs on there, and that is how you introduce yourself to Pearl Jam. I then listened to 10. I had a few of their early albums, and watched the documentary. Is it 20? Yep. The documentary about Pearl Jam, you know, from them originally being Mother Love Bone and then Eddie Vedder coming in and joining the band.

27:35Mike Minogue:Great doco, and it makes you think, oh, this band is full of great people as well. For sure. So there's no bones about it, fellas.

27:41Keyzie:A deserved number two. A formal winner. Yeah, and a former winner. Now, here we are, New Zealand. 900 songs. Thousands upon thousands of votes by you, the people. And we have reached our destination. Our number one tune is played by you. 900 songs, but only one can be the GOAT.

28:09Mike Minogue:After thousands of votes, here is your top 20.

28:15Keyzie:Number 20, Metallica 1.

28:23Keyzie:19,

28:28Keyzie:Stone Temple Pilots, Interstate Love Song. Leaving the sudden train only yesterday Number 18, Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here How I wish, how I wish you were here Number 17, Radiohead, Paranoid Android You remember, you remember You remember, you remember I remember 16, the White Stripes, Seven Nation Army.

29:08Keyzie:15, Tall, 46-2.

29:17Keyzie:14, System of a Down, Aerials.

29:26Keyzie:13. The Killers, Mr. Brightside

29:37Keyzie:Number 12. Rage Against the Machine, Killing in the Name Of

29:49Keyzie:11 Guns N' Roses, November Rain

29:59Keyzie:Number 10 She Heart, Home Again

30:08Keyzie:Nine, Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb.

30:19Keyzie:Eight, Foo Fighters, Everlong.

30:28Keyzie:Six, Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven.

30:37Keyzie:Number seven, Black Sabbath, War Peaks. Number five, Alice in Chains, Nutshell, Unplugged.

30:59Keyzie:Number four, Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody Number three, Nirvana, Smells Like Teen Spirit

31:19Keyzie:Number two, Pearl Jam Black.

31:31This is your GOAT.

31:46Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Beat Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

31:55Keyzie:Yes, indeed, New Zealanders voted by you, the people, queens of the Stone Age, no one knows. Woo! Yeah! Oh, good stuff. Good stuff. One of the great rock and roll songs, as far as I am concerned, I'm very happy with a Queens of the Sonos tune in there. One of my favourite bands, Zendere. That tune is a, when I was flatting, when that first came out, might have been 2000-ish, 99 maybe even. We used to get together in a room, pretty steamed, put that on, and it would be air drumming under the influence of this, that, and the other. But absolute belter of a tune. It is a hell of a tune.

32:38Mike Minogue:My favourite thing about the GOAT countdown as well is every single year regardless of which song comes in the top spot, the text machine absolutely lights up. It goes off. Because, of course, this is chosen by the audience. You know what I mean? So if a song finishes in the top and people are accused, sure, they're accusing Mania of rigging the vote because this is a huge goat, but this is what the people have chosen. And to be honest, I am kind of pleased that, because we had the monitor switched off here in the studio. We didn't know what was coming up next. And I am pleased it was a song that we couldn't guess.

33:09Mike Minogue:Yes. We were like, what could it be? It wasn't black. It wasn't killing the name of it. Mogi was going mad that he couldn't figure it out. Yeah, yeah. Well, I narrowed it down to two songs that I thought it might have been, and that was one of them. That's why you said, yeah, a Tool song as well. A Tool song. I thought maybe it would have been The Pot. I had no idea where that landed. But The Pot did really well when we did Fight Club last year. But it's part of the fun, isn't it? And then, of course, if it comes to number one and you hate it, because we also have what's that tune from the Foo Fighters?

33:37Everlong. Everlong. seems like more people hate that song than love it and so we get millions of texts on that so it'll get you talking one way or the other.

33:45Keyzie:Well I tell you what, it's been epic this goat countdown and we couldn't have done it without you New Zealand we massively appreciate you sending your votes in and supporting us because it's been epic.

33:54Mike Minogue:It certainly has Jase. However the Epoch Times do not stop there we have got one of, especially this year one of the all time great competitions it starts tomorrow morning just after 7 check this shit out. October when two of the biggest sporting events roar to life and we have just one question for you would you rather all the noise, speed and atmosphere of Mount Panorama watching the mighty Bathurst 1000 or the weekend of your life at the NRL Grand Final with the races on Saturday and a pre-match cruise to the game on Sunday now what would you rather be?

34:33Keyzie:will it be the whas or the cars? Radio Hodaki's Would You Rather, the NRL Grand Final or the Bathurst 1000. Cheers to boystrip.co.nz. Sports travel made easy. Starts tomorrow. Wow. How good. You guys would be going Bathurst, surely. Yeah, yeah. You'd be all over Bathurst. I love my cars, man.

34:53Mike Minogue:Yeah, I love my Brimbrim. To be honest, it's one of my bucket list dreams to go to Bathurst. Yes. But not this year because if I was entering that competition this year, I would be picking NRL Grand Finals straight away.

35:05Keyzie:Yeah, same actually. I've got a feeling about the WARS, fellas. So yeah, it's going to be... Don't do that.

35:10Mike Minogue:It's amazing. Sure you do, Jase. A reminder that competition kicks off immediately on Radio Hauraki tomorrow morning just after 7. Manaya and Jerry will start putting people in the draw and we'll do a blitz on tomorrow's show as well, fellas. Yeah, sounds good, mate. It's going to be a ripper. The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

35:38Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope your Thursday night's absolutely going off, and it should be because we've just completed the goat. Yeah, you're fired up, fellas?

35:48Mike Minogue:I am fired up, although I feel sort of like... It's post-coital a little bit. Yeah, yeah, it is. It is. You've reached the climax, Jase, and now you're sort of just basking and bathing in the afterglow. Yeah. Whereas some people feel a little bit disappointed. Other people are elated. Yes. Elated, not related. Hope not. Yeah, so I guess it just depends. But, I mean, look, 900 songs over the last nine days, it has been an absolute ripper. And it's strange, isn't it, every year how it varies. Yes. People get passionate about things, and that's another thing that will happen as well. People will be either stoked that this song is number one, or if they're not stoked, they'll be voting like a bastard next year.

36:27Yeah, true call.

36:28Mike Minogue:That is the lesson, isn't it? It does feel post-coital. You're right. Like, I feel, I'm like tired again. Yeah, you're tired again. You've been tired a lot today.

36:36Keyzie:Oh, cheesy, cheesy.

36:37Mike Minogue:I was fizzed up there now. I feel quite tired. But fellas, I reckon give me another three or four days and I'll be keen to go again. You're going to go again. Yeah, yeah, totally.

36:44Keyzie:Well, it was funny you should say sort of post-coital because back in the day after the goat had finished, it was customary for me to go out and have a durry. You know what I mean? Because I'd be like, oh, wow, that was, whoa. I was amazing. But not anymore, of course.

37:02Mike Minogue:Do you think it's weird that we're making post-coital jokes about a countdown called The Goat?

37:06Keyzie:No, I think that's fine.

37:08Mike Minogue:Yeah, can't sleep.

37:09Keyzie:Standing. Hey, incidentally, the big show is brought to you by Reburger. Oh, yeah, that's right.

37:14Mike Minogue:Craveworthy street food, freshly made with Reburger.

37:16Keyzie:I have to remind everyone,

37:19Mike Minogue:there are four new stores that have opened in Auckland recently, Avondale, Botany Junction, Key Street, and also one in the Auckland CBD there. This Sunday, 100 free burgers from each of those stores. So if you're in the Auckland area, go visit one of those stores and the chances are you'll get a free burger.

37:35Keyzie:And I'll just tell you a little story. We got some Reburger today. Did a little bit of a shoot for them. How good, fellas. Oh, Kesey just went absolutely ballistic.

37:49Mike Minogue:Well, I hoed in. It's free food, company credit card, all that. Yes. And the guy making the Reburger behind the counter gave us a little extra. He did. I swear it was a bigger burger than normal, and I over-ordered, but I tried to eat as much as I could. You did. And now I'm a sleepy boy.

38:02Keyzie:Yeah, a sleepy boy. Hey, speaking of food, tell you what, what's on the dinner with me and Keezy is next. Are we doing that? Yeah, totally, man. So text us, 3483.

38:12Mike Minogue:What are you having for tea in New Zealand? Every text on 3483 in the drawer for 50 bucks. Three big. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

38:25Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Kings of Leon there on the Hodaki Big Show this Thursday evening. The time is 16 minutes past 6 o 'clock, which means it's time for...

38:34Mike Minogue:Hey, guys. Text here from Steve. What's the team in New Zealand? With me, Casey. Fellas, we sure we want to be doing this segment? Oh, totally, man. I'll be honest with you. It feels like we should just turn the radio off and go to the pub. Yeah, well, sure. Just turn it off. We can't top that, can we? No So we just start again tomorrow Oh, look, I'm for that I'm not talking about the listeners, Keezy I'm talking about us So we turn We turn, we stop transmitting But then they'll turn off Everybody go to the pub Right Come back tomorrow We'll see you there You know what I mean? Like, how will we This is the best segment we've got What's on the dinner with me, old Keezy Yeah And it just feels

39:19Keyzie:I know, man But here's the thing about it, Mogi. Yes. I know the hours and hours and hours of prep that Keezy puts into this. It means so much to him. Just because we've just had a spectacular countdown doesn't mean that we don't go to our, you know, true-to-form stuff. Good. Well put.

39:40Mike Minogue:Yeah.

39:40Keyzie:True-to-form stuff.

39:41Mike Minogue:And thank you for bringing up the prep, by the way, Jase, because I heard someone in the office accusing me of just, you know, putting the call out willy-nilly and then literally spending... Five minutes on it, you know? Yeah, yeah. It takes ages because how it works. I won't have that. How it works, if you aren't familiar, you text in 3483 what you're having for dinner, and then we read it out. And then you might want to re-bigger about you. And it's good shit. Check this out. G'day, fellas. Phoebe here. Phoebe from Friends? Oh, damn. That was what I was going to say. Oh, no, you know who? Phoebe.

40:14Mike Minogue:It's Phoebe from Friends. Okay. I'll remember. Lisa Kudrow. No. The husband's in the kitchen where he belongs cooking me a chicken and veggie phyllo pie. Get it, girl. Yeah, boy. I love phyllo pastry. Phoebe Cakes.

40:30Keyzie:Yeah, I like a bit of pie action as well.

40:33Mike Minogue:But like phyllo pastry. It's not just a pie. It's a phyllo.

40:35Keyzie:Oh, no, I hate phyllo pastry. Oh, she's ruined it. He's butchering it.

40:45Mike Minogue:G'day, fellas. Laura here. McGoldrick. Damn it. Dern. Fitzpatrick. It's Laura Dern. Wow. Who's that? She's an actress. Oh, wow. Crazy that she's texting. G'day, guys. Laura Dern from Invercargill here.

41:02Keyzie:Oh, she moved to Invercargill. She used to live in the States, but okay. Big transition for Laura.

41:09Mike Minogue:Having lemon and oregano salmon in the air fryer with egg fried rice topped with some avocado and QP mayo. Yippee, yum, yum, yum. Yeah, I don't. Not bad. Yeah, I'm happy with that. Swap out the salmon for me with chicken and I'm on board. Well, you can't make that kind of a switch, Keezer. You're just saying that you don't like it. No, no, I don't like salmon. You don't say you swapped something out. Why not? Well, because that's a different thing. So what you're saying is you don't like it because you don't like salmon. Samong. But all that other stuff is yum.

41:36Keyzie:That's like saying swap out my pie for some oatmeal. No, it's a completely different thing.

41:45Mike Minogue:It's like saying swap out my mince pie for a steak pie. It's still a pie. Nah. Oh, isn't it? Well, go down to the river, Keezy. Go down to a river in Alaska, throw a line in, and try and catch a chicken. Good point, Mogey.

42:01Keyzie:Thanks, mate. God, you look silly now, Keezy.

42:04Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

42:10Keyzie:The cult there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening.

42:15Mike Minogue:Hey, fellas, we didn't have time today because the GOAT countdown was on. By the way, if you want to listen to the Top 100, Dilly has made a playlist. Go on the iHeartRadio app, search GOAT, Hauraki, and listen to the Top 100 there.

42:26Keyzie:How good.

42:26Mike Minogue:But we didn't have time to do What's on Telly. Can I do a quick one here?

42:29Keyzie:Yeah, sure. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

42:38Keyzie:Yeah! That's right.

42:41Mike Minogue:Fellas, last night I saw Christopher Nolan's Odyssey in IMAX.

42:45Keyzie:Yeah. What time did it start? 8.30.

42:48Mike Minogue:Well, 8.45.

42:49Keyzie:So it kicked off at 11, yeah. Yeah.

42:52Mike Minogue:What time did I get home? Midnight. Yeah. Had a hot pot beforehand. Just in time. Yeah, just in time.

42:57Keyzie:So you were gurgling away there with your hot pot in your belly.

43:00Mike Minogue:Put it straight through the front door, straight into the toilet. I heard that you've got a door installed on your bathroom, so when you come home, you just open the door, you're in the shedder. It's not even a door. It's just a bead curtain. We put a ranch slider from outside into the toilet. A bead curtain. How good. Anyway. Is that not the whole story? No, I watched the movie. The Odyssey. Yes. So, Jase, you've seen it. Yep. You said pretty good?

43:30Keyzie:I said it was pretty good. I was a little underwhelmed. Right. But, you know, if I hadn't heard anything about it, I probably would have had a bigger reaction, but I think it's been so hyped up that I was like, it's a good movie. It's a good movie, but it's fiercely long. I have not heard anybody go, absolute all-timer. Brilliant.

43:54Mike Minogue:Everybody's had notes. Yes. Absolute all-timer for me. Great. Brilliant. How good. No, because my wife, Mogi, you said your wife said there was a lot of explaining. Yeah. There was in the first half an hour. Yes. It was one of those It was two hours 40 long And I didn't want it to end It was brilliant Okay great I went in there Knowing they'd have American accents I got past that straight away I didn't know any of the story of the Odyssey Other than a few little bits Obviously the Trojan horse Yes I knew about the sirens on the rocks Yeah Didn't realise there was a cyclops Oh yeah Seriously My mate and I Went and watched it And I thought For me it was The gladiator The modern times gladiator Oh, nice.

44:37Mike Minogue:And the reason I say that is because I saw Gladiator 2 last year, and it sucked. Oh, it was the worst. It did. Whereas this, for me, is the same as when Gladiator first came out, when I first saw that. Right. The most recent movie, and it's just a blockbuster. It's not like an amazing, like, you know, thoughtful. It's just an epic two and a half hours. The last time I was this stoked after the movies was June 2. Oh, yeah. Big scale, big, like, yeah, practical effects amazing. So honestly, I'll give it 4.7 out of 5. Wow. IMAX. IMAX. in the middle of the theatre right up at the back. That's where I go.

45:10Mike Minogue:And it was so loud, so massive. I loved it.

45:13Keyzie:Great. It was too loud for me. I know that sounds old man-ish. It is very loud. But it was like so loud. I was going, okay, just turn it back a bit. Because I'll take some earplugs just to dumb it down a little bit. Yes. Seriously,

45:28Mike Minogue:it's like being at a gig. It's weird, isn't it? So loud. I'm going to do that. Yeah. Yeah, anyway. In fact,

45:34Keyzie:my wife actually ended up putting stuff in her ears because it was so overwhelming.

45:38Mike Minogue:Popcorn. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

45:51Keyzie:Well there you go you mad bastards. That's the end of the show this Thursday evening. The end of the goat countdown as well. I'll tell you what I'm pretty knackered now actually. That was epic.

46:03Mike Minogue:Yeah Jase you did really well during the countdown. Yeah, thanks, man. And that final montage you put together was excellent as well. Yeah, it was great. Really good.

46:09Keyzie:I really enjoyed it.

46:10Mike Minogue:I really enjoyed the podcast outro, a.k.a. the disclaimer. Yeah. The new name of our podcast. Here's a clip from today where we discussed my T-shirt, by the sounds of it. Come on, Jase, talk about my T-shirt.

46:25Keyzie:It's very cool, man. What is it, like a douche-douche one, a gaming kind of? Just the drag racing one I've worn once a week for the last five years.

46:37This is the thing I was talking about.

46:42Mike Minogue:Oh, Keezy's tight. Start being dicks about it. We're so old to be doing that shit, aren't we? Yeah, we really are. Hey, here's an idea. Don't do it. It's the most juvenile shit, and it's because I was slightly sleepy. That was good stuff.

46:59Keyzie:No, you were exhausted. I was. You were very hooded in the eyes. I was. Mogi, your plan tonight, please. Got a couple of families staying with us. They're up from Wellington, so a bit of a full house tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing those backbones in there. Bit of work. Not work tonight, but that's what I'll be doing. Bit of chit-chat. Yeah, good stuff, mate. Keezy, probably straight to bed for you. You've had so much to eat today. Been in a bit of a food coma.

47:24Mike Minogue:I have been in a food coma. I told my wife I don't need dinner tonight.

47:28Keyzie:Do you regret that now?

47:29Mike Minogue:No, because I've still got two chicken tenders from Reburger in my car. So I might eat those on the way home and then that'll be old Keezy done and dusted. Old Keezy with a couple of fists full of chicken. Fried chicken. I'll be sucking them on. Yeah, I'll be sucking them. That's how I intend to do it. Is it? And then we'll watch Outrageous Fortune and then I'll probably go to bed early. Jase, what are you doing? You didn't get up around mid-dite?

47:53Keyzie:Yeah. What am I doing? Steamer. What am I doing? I'll see you later, man. I've got to go. Times are ticking, man. I'm thinking. No, you're not. No, you're not. Well, I'll probably... Actually, I'll tell you what I might do. This is actually ruining the GOAT. This has ruined the GOAT countdown. This has ruined the whole year for me. Oh, no, I can't.

48:10Mike Minogue:Because the thing with the GOAT is we have all these new listeners. And they stick around. Yeah, I know. And then they realise they've made a mistake. Yeah, this show, this could be good. And it's just Jase going... Oh, don't get upset. I'm sorry, Jase. Now I'm just joking around.

48:25Keyzie:No, I'm going to go home, eat some food, fellas. Watch a bit of TV and go to bed, all right? Love you all. Goodbye. See you tomorrow. Thank you.
