I've been ringside for a few boxing matches when I used to work at Sky back in the day. Yeah. They are an awesome experience. Nothing like this though, Keezy. This is the VIP table. Oh. And I've never been on a VIP table, so I'm really looking forward to it and to being closer to ringside.
4:08We went to Nuka's last fight in New Zealand. Didn't we, J-Send? Yes, we did. Doosh, doosh. We were sitting way up the back. But this time it's black tie, Keezy. We've been along to Barkers. have sorted us out with some beautiful, can I say some beautiful tuxedos.
4:24Mike Minogue:Mine's been taken in at the moment. Mine's been taken in at the moment as well. So both of us are going to be looking hot, hot, hot. Hot, yeah, yeah. Sharp as. Hot to trot. Sounds great, fellas. So it's black tie, Jase. Obviously, Jase, just Mike and I getting the invite. Yeah. I have actually had an email with the tickets, Mike. I don't know if you saw that, but she was saying as part of being on the VIP table, you actually get car service. Oh, yeah. So we're going to be picked up. Not a limo. Oh, that's good to know. Not a limo. That's really good to know. Jase. What? I'm just trying to. But we get picked up.
4:55Mike Minogue:It's like a Merc or something or a Beamer. It's not a limo. It doesn't matter to me as long as I'm not driving. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they said they'll drop us off. It's going to be a big one, eh, Fills? For us, yes. Yes, yes. I don't know what you'll be doing. A bit of douche douche. But they were saying after the fight too, they'll drop us off wherever we want. Oh, 100%. Oh, how good. Also, I don't know if you've seen the official guest list of the VIP table. It is amazing. It's a bit of a who's who. I was surprised by this. I just thought we'd be on there with a few, you know, sort of TV and Z backbones.
5:23Yeah, half-ass CTIs for the contestants or something.
5:27Mike Minogue:Jays. Down and out DJs. Look, me and Mike are really excited about this.
5:32Keyzie:Some shorty street stars.
5:34Mike Minogue:No, well, the first guy I spotted on the list was the main bloke from Brokenwood. What's his name? Oh, yes. Jays, the guy that hosts the show that you're on occasionally. What's that guy's name? Neil Ray. Neil Ray. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's on the table, which is cool. And Fern Sutherland. Fern. Oh, Fernie. She's the female lead. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Totes, totes. Oh, I'll be able to say I work with old Ray. Ray, that's your character, aren't you? Yeah, yeah, totes. Old Ray-ness. I don't believe this, but apparently Ryan Fox. Oh, is he? Foxy. Foxy's on the table, yeah. Foxy's on the table as well.
6:08Mike Minogue:Now, a big shocker for me was, of course, they're shooting Gollum down in Wellington, and one of the big Hollywood stars, Kate Winslet. Kate Winslet's in New Zealand at the moment. filming Gollum, she's going to be there. She's going to be at the boxing. Absolutely, because she's a big fan of David Yecker, and what woman isn't? Fair enough. But she. I'm not a Kate Winslet fan. I mean, Helen. Are you serious?
6:31Keyzie:Helen Mirren? What?
6:33Mike Minogue:Kate Winslet. Oh, Kate Winslet. Where did you get Helen Mirren from? Come on, Jason. Come on, Jason. We're not just making people up here.
6:41Keyzie:I don't think there's a bigger fan of Kate Winslet than Hoardy J.
6:45Mike Minogue:She is a great actor. I'll get a photo of her with me for you, if you like. Oh, get one with me with her as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we'll get her to take a photo of us. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That'll be good. We'll be friends by the end of it. Yeah, that'll be great. How good, how good. Nick Cave?
6:59Keyzie:Nick? Nick Cave, you're a fan of him, aren't you? Massively so.
7:02Mike Minogue:Isn't he one of your goats?
7:04Keyzie:Oh, totally is, man, of all time. Pugs? Pugs will be there. Pugs is on the list. This was a surprise to me. I don't know how they know, but Jase, your wife and all four of your daughters are going to be there.
7:16Mike Minogue:Are they coming over? They're on the top. Once again, we'll get a photo of them for you.
7:22Keyzie:Oh, that'd be good if you could. Yeah, absolutely. I didn't mention that, actually. I've been messaging away and they haven't responded. And perhaps the best guest of the night, and sort of become quite famous quite recently, Joseph Parker's nutritionist. He's going to be there.
7:38Mike Minogue:Far out, man. Well, that's actually... Oh, what? Yeah. Actually, I don't know if, for me, the most important guest of the night was the guy who invented hot pots going to be there.
7:52Mike Minogue:So we'll get a photo with him, Jase, for you, mate.
7:54Keyzie:This is sounding amazing. Can I say that? And you did mention the possibility that there may be the odd ticket floating around. I remember saying that. So with that in mind, I've done a few things today, and I'll pass them by you in the next break if that's okay. Yeah, sweet.
8:11Mike Minogue:Do I have to be here for that?
8:12Keyzie:Or if you could be, it's She Hard.
8:18Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

Read the full transcript
8:31Mike Minogue:Frout outs. It's frout out shy day, aka shout out Friday. Every text on 3483 in the draw for 50 bucks re-burger. Heaps coming through, fellas. G'day, lads. Shout out BS Godfrey builders Rick and Scooty tucking into some wets on the way home. Happy Friday to Dooge. I was Scoot. Scoot's a shocker. Yeah, he is. Especially on the fire water. Froud out there, fellas. Froud out to Ben working hard in Wellington to put up some more red tape. Kia Kaha, man. Yeah, good on you. Massive bureaucrat. Yeah, he's so good. There's heaps coming through, fellas. We'll get into more of those later on.
9:08Keyzie:Now, fellas, obviously you've got a big date night tomorrow night, and I'm very excited about it. Going to the boxing. Yeah. As VIP guests, I believe. Very important people. Guests of TVNZ who, of course, are hosting the fight on their platform, TVNZ Plus. You can pay to see it if you want, Jase. Such a good platform. It is such a good platform.
9:29Mike Minogue:You're always bagging it.
9:31Keyzie:Now, fellas, I think it's –
9:32Mike Minogue:Oh, does Samsung TV have a table?
9:34Keyzie:I think that it's fair to say that you know that old hoity Jay loves a bit of douche douche. You know, a bit of the douche, douche, douche, douche. I used to do a bit of boxing. Are you talking about boxing? Yeah, boxing in my day. Yeah. And you probably don't know this as well about me, but I love a dress up. Oh. You know what I mean? I love getting dressed up and going out on the town, especially if I'm going to watch a bit of douche, douche. Oh, absolutely. And, you know, I think it's fair to say when the fellas, you know, Engelbert, for example, when we all go out as a group, jeez, we have a good time, don't we?
10:07Keyzie:We have. Oh, yeah, 100%. Yeah, yeah. I mean, we're good buddies. Yeah. 100%. You know what I mean? And I tell you what, I love a good meal. Oh, yeah. Particularly if it's free.
10:20Mike Minogue:Same here, to be honest. Yeah, 100%.
10:21Keyzie:Now, there was something that you mentioned a couple of days ago, and I just sort of grabbed upon it, if you don't mind, which was there is the possibility that someone might not turn up for your table. You know what I mean? And I went, oh, hello. Right. The VIP table, yeah. Yeah, there's a possibility there. So I took the liberty today, just in case. Yes. Just in case, to go and get myself a tuxedo. Oh, nice. Yeah, man, thank you. Yeah. Not to hire, because I thought, you know what? I've got my dog squad money, I'm going to treat myself. Yeah. Now, I've never owned a tuxedo in my life. Well, you've probably never had need to wear one before.
11:01This is a first for me.
11:02Keyzie:Yeah, well, that's right. And I was in the shop and it was like, there's this one hoody, Jane. I was like, oh, that's not too bad. And they showed me all the range. And obviously, as you can imagine, they vary from sort of low quality to high quality. Yes. But top dollar. And I thought, how often do I get to buy a tuxedo? Yeah. I'm going to splash out. You probably get the opportunity to buy a tuxedo one more time than you get an opportunity to wear one. Yeah, totally, totally. So I got myself a brand spanking new tuxedo. What colour? Black. Yeah, it's a tuxedo. Yeah, man. Sounds like it. Seven and a half grand.
11:40Keyzie:Wow. Seven and a half thousand. New Zealand. But, you know, if you're going to look good, you're going to look good, fellas. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. And what my plan is, because what time does it start?
11:51Mike Minogue:I think the car's picking us up at six to be there at 6.30. To be there at 6.30. Yeah. Right, okay. You have to be there at 6.30.
11:56Keyzie:Because you said that maybe I could just sort of hang out down there in my car.
12:00Mike Minogue:Oh, in the car park? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can.
12:03Keyzie:which I might do, actually, if you don't mind. I don't mind. I'm just hanging in my tuxedo. Yeah. And you guys, we can communicate while you're in there. Hey, blah, blah, blah. It turned up. Oh, blah, blah, blah. I hit a TV and said, what, we didn't invite Hoity J? What the hell were we thinking sort of thing? You know what I mean? And I could join the fellas. Yeah. Or, and I don't know how you feel about this, I just stand out front in my brand new tuxedo and all the people will be seeing me going, is that old Hoity J? God, he looks good. I'm keen as for that. And, you know, what's he doing out there?
12:37Keyzie:What is he doing out there? No doubt someone will come out. This is my plan. I think we'll work and go, you all good, Hoody J? And I go, oh, I don't know where my ticket is. It seems to have.
12:48Mike Minogue:But then you go, but Keezy and Mogia are inside.
12:50Keyzie:Yeah, but Keezy and Mogia, exactly, Keezy. And then they'll say. And then I come in, you guys verify, you know, my presence. Chase is here. We all just shuffle across and hoity Jake and join the fellas for your date night.
13:04Mike Minogue:Yeah. What do you reckon? But of course you won't have a chair, Jase. That'll be a big problem. You'll have to stand. It'll be a big problem.
13:12Keyzie:Someone will be up dancing or standing. I'll just nick one of theirs. Dancing at the boxing, you reckon? Oh, there is a bit of dancing.
13:19Mike Minogue:And you need a high chair as well, don't you? So that might be a bit of admin. You'll take your jacket off and just be a waiter. Oh. Now we're talking. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
13:28Keyzie:One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me.
13:32Mike Minogue:I can do that.
13:33Keyzie:Be a waiter? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It'll look so good in my tuxedo. I don't think people will buy that I'm a humble waiter.
13:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, I'm not talking about the boxing, though, like at another restaurant. Yeah, yeah. Oh! Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Can I get anybody a beer? The Big Show. Be Havana support brew crew contender. How about a beer, huh?
13:59Keyzie:Yes, indeed. What a prize, eh, fellas? Join the fellas for a beerzy. Free accommodation, free flights. You and a mate, how good? Yeah.
14:07Mike Minogue:That's right. All you have to do is call 0800-HAURAKE. Get yourself in the drawer. You said you could bring a mate, eh? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, totally. Does it have to be a mate or can it be a family member, a complete stranger? It can be, it has to be a mate. You have to be friends. Oh, does it have to be? We'll be putting them through a friendship test. Oh, yes. Right, okay. Which involves a lie detector and a couple of other things.
14:27Keyzie:What's their favourite colour? What are they like?
14:30Mike Minogue:Yeah.
14:31Keyzie:Yeah, what are they like?
14:32Mike Minogue:What's their middle name? That sort of stuff. Bear Vana is happening Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd of August. Just a couple of weeks away. Fellas down at Henry Stadium in Wellington. Yeah, man. Good stuff. It's a big celebration of brewing beers, et cetera. New Zealand's ultimate celebration, you might say.
14:48Keyzie:Good stuff. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Sam, you mad bastard. How's life? There you go, fellas. Yeah. Good things, mate. What are your plans for your Friday afternoon there, Sam? Oh, the missus has dragged me along to some night market, but then it's about 8pm. Yeah, good on you, mate. Could you tell me, Sam, if you didn't have a missus, man, how many times in your life, honestly, do you reckon you'd find yourself at a night market? Oh, approximately zero, I'd say. Yeah, yeah. That's right. Having said that, night markets, good dumplings and that sort of stuff, fellas. Yeah, that's good, man.
15:30Keyzie:There's some good eating there. Yeah, Sam. Is that tonight, Sam, or tomorrow? No, it's tonight. It's at 5 o 'clock, so I've got to get home now. I've got to have a shower and get there. And then you've got to get back before the wars start. Yeah, yeah. Good on you. Panheads in the fridge. Yeah. Good on you, mate. Tell me, Sam, who would you take with you? Well, the missus is pregnant, so I'd probably take my three-year-old daughter with me. Yeah, cool.
15:53Mike Minogue:She doesn't mind a beer festival? Nah, loves it. Yeah, good stuff. Good stuff, Sam. You're in the draw, mate. You hold the line. Cheers, fellas. G'day, Panga. How's it going?
16:07Keyzie:Yeah, good, lad. Yourself? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. How's beautiful Nelson today, mate? Oh, it's actually a bit chilly today for Nelson. Yeah. Tell me, Panga, what do you do for a crust? I'm just chippy. Oh, yeah. Not just, mate. You're a backbone. You're a massive backbone. They know just about it.
16:26Mike Minogue:Big backbone-er. Yeah, we do.
16:28Keyzie:And who would you take with you if you were to win this extraordinary prize?
16:33Mike Minogue:I would take my best mate from four years old. So, yeah, we love a good brew together and love watching the wires. How good? This guy. Getting ready for the big game tonight to beat the Panthers. What's that goose's name? Louis Chapman. Oh, he's a shocker. Oh, no. Good God. He is a shocker.
16:56Keyzie:Hey, Panga, you're in the draw as well, mate. Good luck. Awesome. Cheers, guys. Good on you, mate.
17:02Mike Minogue:You hold the line there, Panga. Big shout out to Bearvana. We're going to be down there at the festival. Get your tickets now, bearvana.co.nz. And on the Thursday night, which whoever wins this prize will be helping us with, the big show are live from Bethel Woods, which is a pub down in Wellington. So if you're going to go to Bearvana, if you're flying in, fly in the Thursday. Yeah, man. Make it a coupley or three-dayer. Yeah, old panga-thee. You don't hear about the panga fences like you used to, Jase. No, you don't. Panga fence used to be the fence du jour. Absolutely. Very little talk about your panga fence these days, Keezy.
17:34Really? Time moves on. I guess tastes move on, Jase. What are you going to do? Exactly, mate. Listen to the Foo Fighters, maybe? Yeah, go on.
17:41Mike Minogue:Good call. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
17:46Keyzie:Yes, indeed. The Cure there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.51. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
18:01Yeah, that's right. Fellas, I didn't watch any TV last night at all. What? Not any. I went and picked up a mate, brought him around home, and we had a couple of bottles of wine there and smoked a few dirt and shot the shit. What? Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with that.
18:20Mike Minogue:What do you mean, damn it, Jase?
18:21Keyzie:No, it's just the durries. Were they great? Yep. In a don't-do-it kind of way. Yeah, sure. In a naughty kind of way. Fellas, last night I did something a little bit different, re-my-viewing, because I was in that sort of conundrum again of, I don't know. So I think the platform's TVNZ+. Yes. And I don't know if you know this, and you do know this, Moggy, because you helped set it up. a platform now where you can watch podcasts. No, stop. All your favourite podcasts.
18:54Mike Minogue:Yes.
18:55Keyzie:Now, you'll be aware of the fact that old Keezy here and Pugsun, they love their gaming chat. That's right. And it's like, Oh, my hamstring, my hamstring. What is a hamstring? Why do you always say hamstring? Take your magic sack out. The magic sack? And so I came across this fantastic little podcast because I want to know more about it so I can involve myself in the fellas chat. Yes. Called Extremely Casual Gamers. Yes. Very, very good. For someone like me that doesn't, you know, I'll be honest, I don't know a lot about gaming. Yeah. But watching that, I went, oh, okay, I'll check that one out.
19:35Keyzie:So now I've just got, and I'll speak to Pug San and Keezy about getting set up and stuff so I can get into the gaming world. But it was really good. Yeah. Really entertaining. Looks great. Yes Four and a half buzzies out of five
19:50Mike Minogue:Are you just going to come on every week now And just pretend that you've watched something of mine Is that what we're doing here
19:55Keyzie:What do you mean of yours Are you in it
19:58Mike Minogue:What do you mean am I in it Yes it's my podcast
20:01Keyzie:Oh wow It's on TVZ Plus
20:02Mike Minogue:God I didn't even know
20:03Keyzie:I was so engrossed in what you were chatting about You couldn't tell that your co-host was in it I didn't realise it was you Keezy Yeah right
20:08Mike Minogue:Because most of the footage is just of me And my two friends
20:11Keyzie:Right Oh god that's weird
20:13Mike Minogue:Which episode was it Oh, it's the one with the magic sack, obviously. Yes. That's where you got the phrase from.
20:19Keyzie:And the hamstring thing. Yeah, the hamstring. So, so random.
20:24Mike Minogue:Thanks for watching that, Jase. Last night I watched...
20:26Keyzie:I highly recommend it. Four and a half buzzies out of five.
20:29Mike Minogue:Thanks, mate. Last night I watched episode six, maybe, the first season of Outrageous Fortune, which, if you don't know, I'm watching for the first time ever. Don't know anything about it. Never watched it for some reason. Absolutely adoring it. It is so funny. Last night's episode was I love the way all the family members Have got all these dramatic things happening all at once They're all intertwined The whole time I was just like What's up with Grandad, he's got nothing going on But now Grandad's got something going on And it's very very entertaining He's really funny
20:59Keyzie:Do you know how many eps there are per season? I can't remember
21:03Mike Minogue:The first season, I was like it'll be 6, 8 The first season is 13
21:07Keyzie:How weird is that? Different time Yes, very different time.
21:11Mike Minogue:Another signal that it was a different time is the titles at the start of the show, where the Hello Sailor plays. Yeah. It's all using shots from later on in the season. Yeah. So I'm like, wow, back in the day, they obviously greenlit an entire series, you know what I mean, and filmed the whole thing. And then, I don't know, I was like, clearly from 20 years ago. Yeah, they're loving it. Yeah. Great show. Highly recommend.
21:33Keyzie:I actually seriously might go and have a little rewatch of that as well. I can't remember it now.
21:38Mike Minogue:When you were in it.
21:39Keyzie:Yeah, and I was in it, yeah.
21:40Mike Minogue:Yeah, seriously, it's very, very, very good, and every single episode's on TVNZ+. So go and check it. Out. Throbber up next. Yeah!
21:53Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
22:02Keyzie:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Toosh, toosh. Yes indeed, the Friday Throbber team Are we excited? No Why? I'm always excited for the Throbber man I'm really excited to see what Jase has come up with He survived a vote To impeach you Jase you could say Really? It was an impeachment vote? You squeaked through by the narrowest of margins There was an attempt to have you banned from the Throbber Such was the terrible attempts you were making to contribute quality tunes. So I'm interested to see what you come through with today, mate. Maybe we'll leave you to last. Maybe we'll leave you to last.
22:46Mike Minogue:Remember last week, exactly a week ago from now, where Jase was like, don't worry, fellas, I've got it sorted, and then picked the worst robber I think he's ever picked by Snow Patrol. It sounded like a lullaby. It's got to be another piss take.
22:59Keyzie:Beautiful song, that tune. It's got to be another piss take. I can tell.
23:02Mike Minogue:I can tell.
23:03Keyzie:What do you mean, man? I am fired up.
23:07Mike Minogue:The Friday Throbber, by the way, we each chick a tune. Chick a tune. We each pick a tune. You guys vote which one you want to hear in full by calling us on 0800HORAKI. And as a little bonus, one of the callers, Pugs will do a lucky dip to stay on the line afterwards, will win a brand new copy of Reality Awaits, which is the latest album from The Strokes on vinyl. Good stuff, man. Who wants to go first? I'll go first. Okay. This is two picks.
23:51Jase gave me the idea for that one Thanks man It's a good sing along that one Totally
23:55Mike Minogue:Gets the old hips moving That's what you want eh Yeah totes Oh no I'm thinking of aqua jogging Ah, hey fellas, I chose a throbber
24:19Mike Minogue:Motorhead, Ace of Spades
24:21Keyzie:Yeah Why do you keep looking at me with utter disdain, Keezy? Why do you keep giving me that look? that you're crossing your arms. Because you've been shitting all over the throbber for months.
24:34Mike Minogue:Come on, man. Come on. All right, what have you chosen, Jase? Bit of tool, fellas.
24:54Keyzie:What's the name of that song? Ticks and Leeches. Suck it!
25:01Where'd you hear that song?
25:03Keyzie:From Spotify. Oh, yeah. Yeah, man. Everything's on there, Keezy. You'd be amazed what you find. It's incredible in terms of music. Hey, you decide, New Zealand. Give us a call now on 0800 Hauraki. In the meantime, here's Heidi Suspect.
25:18Mike Minogue:Don't forget every single person in the draw for that new Strokes album. So stay on the line after the throbber and pugs do a lucky dip. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
25:32Keyzie:It's the Horehi Big Show's Friday Throbber. Doosh, doosh. Yes, indeed. The Friday Throbber. Keezy's still looking at me like that. What's going on?
25:45Mike Minogue:I'm just looking at you, man. I love you, Jase. What are you talking about, man?
25:49Keyzie:Now, listen. What do we think, fellas? About what? All the throbbers. I think you've done a great job there, Jase. Thanks, mate. You know, I've just gone with an old classic. Keezy's got an absolute classic there as well. I'm not particularly familiar with that one, but Jase from Tool, but that one throbs. Thanks, man. That one throbs. Well, the part of it that I heard, it's probably nine minutes long, but that part throbs.
26:08Mike Minogue:It is eight minutes long, actually, which I was quite stoked about. It's huge. It just builds and builds. Should we play Mogey's, then mine, then yours? Yeah, sure, man. All right, here's Mogey's. Oh, yeah.
26:20Keyzie:Oh, oh, oh. I see no changes. Wake up in the morning and I ask myself. It's like worth living, should I blast myself? I'm tired of being poor. Like a groundhog.
26:32Mike Minogue:Tupac there with Changes. Keezy's gone for an all-time throbber from Motorhead. Ace of spades.
26:51Mike Minogue:That's a tune.
26:52Keyzie:It is a tune. It's also a tune. And I went for a bit of two.
26:57Mike Minogue:Ticks and leeches? Yes, man.
27:12Mike Minogue:Just confirming he doesn't swear there. What is he saying there, Jase? Suck it. Oh, cool. Oh, nice. Suck it. Gross. Like a chili dog.
27:21Keyzie:Yeah. No, ticks, because it's called ticks and leeches. Oh, yes, yes. Right?
27:27Mike Minogue:Oh, sorry, I thought you said... Oh, my God.
27:30Keyzie:Should we go to the lines there, fellas? Yeah, let's do it, man. G'day, Jackson, you mad bastard. How's life?
27:36Mike Minogue:Good, thank you, Horty. Jay, how are you?
27:37Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, mate. What are you running with, Jackson?
27:40Mike Minogue:As much as I'd love to help your case, Jay, I've got to go with Mogi. Yeah, good on you, mate. Oh, gosh, Tupac on Hodaki. Hold the line, Jackson. Let's go, let's go. You might win that stroke, smile, man.
27:49Keyzie:Hang around, brother. G'day, Walter, you mad bastard. How's life? Not bad, fellas. How are you? Yeah, good, mate. Thanks, mate. What are you running with there, Walter?
27:59Mike Minogue:I've got to go with old Hoity Jizz. Oh, the Jizz. Oh, here he is. Return of the Jizz. Yeah, return of the Jizz. You hold the line there, Walter. You might win that vinyl as well. G'day, John, you mad bastard. How's life?
28:12Keyzie:Good, good, guys. Yeah, good. What are you running with, John? Well, it's good to see Hoity Jizz coming back with a banger, but for an old guy like me, it's got to be motorhead. Yeah. Yeah, all day. Yeah, all day. Totally, mate. Good on you, John. This guy gets it. Good on you, mate.
28:28Mike Minogue:Hold the line, John. You can win that vinyl.
28:30Keyzie:All the pressure on big Luke. G'day, Luke, you man bastard. How's life? Yeah, bloody good, boys. Good on you, mate.
28:38Mike Minogue:It's hard to go past a bit of tool on Friday, but Hoody J, you've got this, mate. Oh!
28:43Keyzie:Yay!
28:44Mike Minogue:Yay! Yay! Good on you, mate. Pug San will be awarding one of those callers that vinyl from the Strokes. Jase, how does it feel?
28:53Keyzie:Oh, good, man. I'm just happy that, you know, I've finally broken the hoodoo. We should actually have a look into it, because Keezy, of course, has held the record with 14 weeks without a win. Yes. You'd be going close to that, Jase. Yeah, I think so.
29:06Mike Minogue:But the difference was, I was trying. Yeah, even worse. Whereas Jase was intentionally sabotaging. Yeah, yeah, shocker bastard. Come on, man. And Jase, just admit, doesn't it feel good to have tried, put some effort in, and now you've won? Doesn't that feel good, mate? Well done. I do that every week, Keezy. Sure you do. 3483, what do you think of today's throbber? Winner from Till, Ticks and Leaches. The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Hauraki. Woo!
29:37Keyzie:Holy. Jeez.
29:40Mike Minogue:That was epic. Fellas. It was all G. Till there, Ticks and Leaches. Hordy J's first win in, what, a decade? Feels like it. Certainly does. just looking at the scoreboard now which is always highly entertaining Mogi's out in front 13 wins Keezy's second on 10 with an asterisk what was my asterisk for again I can't remember oh cheating oh playing two parts of a song that's right that's right Jase is bringing up the rear 6 wins now Jase with 2 asterisks and a small d you're still in touch you're still in touch with the pack Jase yeah that's right never give up fellas never give up That's what I always say.
30:20Mike Minogue:People are stoked as well. They're loving it. Tim says, what a tune. Yeah, good. Song of the day. Tool is the best throbber today. Jizz for the throbber. Great way to stay in the game in all capitals. Yeah. So many people are stoked, man. Jase, there he is finally.
30:37Keyzie:Doesn't that feel good, man? Have I redeemed myself? I want to go that far. For this week, you have, yeah. I need to go back to back. Is that what you're saying?
30:46Mike Minogue:No, you just need to put in a bit of effort every week.
30:48Keyzie:Every Friday, boy, that's just racking my brain. What's going to be the thromber today?
30:54Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah.
30:55Keyzie:But that was an epic tune. It is. It was an epic tune, fellas. Got the drumming in that. Yeah, he's one of the greats. He's one of the greats. Very good.
31:03Mike Minogue:Certainly does a lot of it in that song. There's a lot of drumming. There's heaps of drumming. Hey, fellas, got a few more frown outs. Oh, okay, yeah, good. If you don't mind. G'day, guys. This is from Callum. I accidentally sent my shout out in yesterday. Can you do a frown out for my mate Rats? And his brothers Quade and Connor, they listen every day and they love Smash Mouth. Shout out, motherfucker. Yeah, right. Shout out to my main man, P-Dog, in Vegas, ripping a couple of Cody's and E-Drags while driving his big old John Deere. Shout out. Living life to the max. Yeah, totally, man. Shout out to Yuta, who did an awesome job on his accounting exam today and has great cars.
31:43Mike Minogue:Shout out, motherfucker. Okay. Good stuff. And one more here. Shout out to Hoity J for finally getting a dub in the old Friday thromber. Yeah, well done to you, man. Can I just point everyone over to the Horeki Big Show Instagram page? There's another great video that Pugs has put up. It's Jase's yarn from the other day where he went to get a barn me and had a run-in with one of your typical run-ins, Jase. Yeah, pretty much. With a local. One of my favourite yarns from you for a couple of years. It was good stuff. Thanks, mate. Gave me a real good laugh. This is the best yarn you've had in years, Jase.
32:18Mike Minogue:More of that, man.
32:20Keyzie:Hey, coming up, Charlie Gabb.
32:22Mike Minogue:Yep, discussing tonight's massive game. Yeah, massive.
32:25Keyzie:I'm fizzing about it. Can't wait.
32:27Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
32:33Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Nirvana there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 5.30.
32:38Mike Minogue:That's right. Tonight, the Hauraki, well, I was going to say the Hauraki Warriors. Sure, why not? The Auckland Warriors, the New Zealand Warriors. They're taking on the Penrith Panthers. It is a top-of-the-table clash. We're in third. They're in first. This is one of the biggest games of the season.
32:52Keyzie:Is it the biggest game of the year so far? Do you think, fellas? Yeah. To be honest, for the whole competition. For the whole competition. I'd say. Absolutely. Well, we played them last time. I think it was 1v2 last time. Yeah, that's right. But it is a particularly big game because it's 1v3. Yes. And then the next week, the Panthers play the second-place Roosters. Yeah.
33:12Mike Minogue:So she's all on for love and money here, brother. Certainly is old Mogey. And for some reason, Betcher have asked old Keezy to put on another pot. So if you'd like to join that pot, get the Betcher app, go to BetSocial, type in the code backbone, join in. You put some money in. I then pick the bets. Obviously, they all hit 100%. You get like 20 times the amount of money back. Actually, I've been having a shocking record of late. Well, not of late in general. But if you want to jump in, make sure you do that. I'll be placing bets just after 7. and that it's R18 bet responsibly. But joining us on the line now, Warriors expert.
33:48Mike Minogue:We usually get him to do a debrief on the Monday, but we need him for a preview of the big game. It's Charlie Gubb. How you going, Charlie? Well, I was good. I came home with a 12-pack of wicked wings, and then Pugsy gave me a call, and obviously I've been on air for the last two minutes listening to you guys dribble about who knows what, Betcher at multis and stuff like that. I'm saying, when's that going to introduce me? Sorry, Charlie, man. You know we love you man What's your prediction For tonight's game man Can the Wars get it done? We're definitely Going to get it done I think it's going to be The most intense game Of the season Like for all games So far I'm a little bit worried About Metcalf Being his first game Back With the team You know he's a bit Different to Tamari Martin But I mean if you If you said at the Start of the year Metcalf and Tamari Martin Is out Like you know You'd be happy But The team The team chemistry Is there I just hope he doesn't overplay his hand, you know, and he just gives early ball and we just complete because I know we've got the four-pack to beat him.
34:50Mike Minogue:Well, the thing with Luke Metcalf is he – I do feel like he's the kind of guy who will maybe try a hero play. I'm not sure. Whereas I know that guys like Tamari Martin and Tanner Boyd before him as well, it was very much about just having the team operating smoothly. Do you think he might try for the hero play, Charlie, or am I just being paranoid? I think you're being paranoid. or maybe like when Metcalf's playing well, he plays really well individually, you know, so he's making multiple line breaks and scoring tries. The wingers aren't really scoring tries, so it might look like a hero play, but I think it's just his style of play.
35:27Like he's a run first guy. I'm just hoping, you know, because when it's not on for him, sometimes he shovels it off to the back row and it's not a good ball and then we turn it over. but I think he'll be up for it. You know, at the end of the day, he's nearly a million-dollar player next year of the Dragons and we got him coming in as injury cover. So it's a great position to be in. That's right. We just want him playing straight, don't we, Charlie? Not sort of shuffling around and moving like a crab across the field. Another good thing that we've got going for us is Dylan Edwards is out. He was a different in that first match-up.
36:02Also, they're missing their hooker. I note that Blaise Tailangi's come back into the side with Kogger out. He's just popped a sprogger. And so I think that's good for us, especially that Dylan Edwards has not been there. Although at the same time, I wish they had their very best team on the field so I knew what we're up against. Yeah, well, I think even with guys out there still, Penrith is still the second best team or there or thereabouts. Hopefully Warriors are the best team tonight. And we don't want Metcalf to spill his beans like Keezy's going to keep spilling water everywhere. Hey!
36:38Mike Minogue:Hey! Have you seen that? Haven't been on the hammer for a while Damn that is quick I literally only just spilt it It is all over the desk It is a nightmare Charlie well look Thank you so much for joining us mate Enjoy your wicked wings And up the whars Yeah there's not many left Yeah up the whars Man Let's just Let's just pump up It's Friday End of the working week Celebrate Lots of things to celebrate Yeah man Yeah yeah Let's just keep going Score prediction Charlie I think it's going to be 28-20. And that's to the Warriors, just checking? Yeah, to the Warriors, to the Warriors. Man of the match, Mogey?
37:20Let's go, Lukey, Matt. Nice, Matt. Aaron Clark, I reckon he's going to have a massive game. Him and Fisher Harris take it personal. I'm with you, Gubby. I'm with you, mate.
37:31Mike Minogue:And, of course, if you're ever in the Wellington area and you need a Port-a-loo, hit up Uncle Charlie's Business, Porter King, and he'll see you right. Enjoy the game, Charlie. We'll talk next week. Yeah, looking forward to it, fellas. Enjoy. Good on you, mate. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
37:49Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Lenny Kravitz there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. What a special treat, fellas. Our very own Angelina Gray. G'day, Angie. How's life? It's good. It's so nice to be in here. Yes. With you guys. I haven't done it for ages. Ages. I haven't seen you for ages. I know. Do you miss it? Yeah. You know what's kind of funny? It's really cool to come in and people are wanting to actually tune into you when you're on the radio. Right. Whereas at home, you guys will know, being parents, people like to tune you out. Oh, that's true. Yeah, totally. Hey, now, Angie.
38:24Mike Minogue:Before we get into this, you should say, Angie, when did you stop being the Hauraki Day Show host? Over a year ago. Over a year ago. That has flown by. Yeah. That's crazy. It's been intense. lots of mumming stuff. Yeah. Yeah, just full-blown mumming. And so you, Bec now does that show, which is the 10am till 2pm show. However, you have dabbled in various podcasts and things and you've got a new one. And voicing and stuff. I've actually, I've been working away for the last year inside my head on a podcast and now it's just been released. Wow. Exciting stuff.
38:58Keyzie:Yeah. Tell us all about it, Angie. All right. Well, I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring like every other Man in this Frog in a podcast. It's called Soft Chaos because that's completely the premise of it. It's recorded independently at my house. Great. So for some reason I decided I'm going to invite people around to my home to talk. And everyone said yes so far. Great. But what I find kind of funny is when you do it from home, say if you're in a studio, right, you're kind of bringing a curated version of yourself. And it's very professional-ish. Well, looking around here-ish. At home though You don't have that It's kind of exposing maybe Or a bit disarming They've got to step over their kids' bikes Maybe in the driveway Yeah Do you think it's sort of closer to your truer self?
39:44Keyzie:Because all of us to a degree When we're doing the radio shows There is a bit of a persona going on Do you feel Well not I mean we are who we are But there's a little bit of extension Yeah Maybe when you're at home You're a bit more your true self Well that's what I'm wondering I don't know whether necessarily the guests are disarmed, but I think I might be. And so I'm trying to learn to talk with rather than talk at, because everyone talks at these days, you know what I mean? And it must be comforting to be in there as well, because you're at home, from a guest point of view, you've been invited into somebody's home, and so you don't really feel the bright light and the need to perform, I guess.
40:22It's more of a conversation than an interview. Yeah, so the idea is it's behind the highlight reels. It's the bits, you know, as you guys would know, from studio to school gate or backstage to bin night, that kind of idea. And you kind of hold all these versions of yourselves and the how and the why behind it, not necessarily the press release.
40:43Keyzie:You used to do a podcast mental as anything? Yeah. Is it in the same kind of genre? It's a bit more, I've diversified a little. And so it's kind of, it's conversations. Yeah. Pretty much. I mean, there will be some of that, I guess. It's not a lot of people say to me, oh, is it like a neurodiversity podcast? And I'm like, well, no. But what I've worked out is most of the guests I've spoken to, I think, are. Yes.
41:11Mike Minogue:Well, that's the creative industry though, isn't it? It attracts people like that. Yes, totally. I saw your first guest, was it Gin Wigmore? Yes. Which is like, she's obviously a local legend here. She's got an album called Beautiful Miss and it was so soft chaos adjacent that I had to. Yeah, I had to have her on. It had to be the first guest, right? Yeah. So is it always musical guests? Is that the idea? No. Oh, God, just creative, I guess. So anyone who I am slightly fascinated by, I think. So I do it every two weeks. But I do drop sometimes little Soft Chaos minis in between. Great, yes. So this one, this week, I've dropped Troy Van Leeuwen from Queen to the Stone Age.
41:47Yeah, I saw that. Flash, man. He's a rad chap.
41:51Mike Minogue:How did you manage to pull that off, getting him on? I don't know. Yeah, right. Maybe it's just being in the industry for talking to people for a long time. Yeah, right. Was that a case of sliding into DMs, Angie? No, I didn't. That one came to me. Oh, right. I didn't slide into that DM. But, I mean, yeah. That's a pretty sweet way to launch the first season of the podcast, though, isn't it? Yeah, but actors, comedians, creatives, writers. So if you've got any suggestions. Yeah, absolutely.
42:18Keyzie:When you say soft chaos, is there an element or do you want an element of people People that are perhaps perceived as slightly chaotic. Maybe. Or maybe that's just the way it goes. Or it's just I think it's everywhere. You know, everyone's juggling. Yes. And the madness is everywhere. And it's like a little burst of, I don't know, a bit of joy perhaps as well. It's also just a cool name. Well, yeah. Yeah, yeah. You've just got to have a cool name. Yes, totally. We've just actually renamed our podcast. Oh.
42:51Mike Minogue:Soft Chaos, we're calling it. Yeah, yeah. What do you think? I reckon maybe. What the fellas. Soft chaos hard case.
42:59Keyzie:Yes. That's probably the way to go. So, Angie, if people are wanting to find this podcast, where do they go and find it? You can find it anywhere. Yes. On iHeartRadio or Apple or. Great, great. And also, I've seen your socials, which look amazing. It does look amazing. Yeah, they look really good. Isn't that funny? Because it's so at home. You know, it's so rudimentary. I'm not working with a lot of stuff, but it's just all how you... Well, no, it is that because you look comfortable. The setup's comfortable but even just the way it's set up like a film, a role of film developing, you know, really, really smart.
43:35Are they available as video as well or is that only... Yeah, YouTube as well. Oh, great. Only because I've realised when you do a podcast now everyone wants it on video so I've got to invest in cameras now.
43:44Mike Minogue:Yeah. Well, look, I tell you what we'll do is we'll send everyone, Angie, to your Instagram. How about that? Sure. So it is Angie on the radio Angelina Gray, it'll come up there, and you'll be able to find all the clips to the mini videos and stuff of the new podcast, Soft Chaos. Otherwise, search Soft Chaos wherever you get your podcasts from. Oh, thanks, man. And, hey, any time you guys want to come over for a cuppa and trip over some recycling and have a yarn, you're welcome. Sounds great, mate.
44:09Keyzie:Thanks, Angie.
44:10Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
44:14Keyzie:Yes, indeed, the Ramones there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening. The time is 5.57.
44:20Mike Minogue:Fellas, don't forget that August 17th, Monday, 9am sharp, is when the GOAT countdown officially kicks off. We are currently in the voting stage. So if you'd like to vote for your greatest of all time tune, text GOAT to 3483. Follow the link there and you can nominate your three.
44:36Keyzie:Just on that front, Kesey, old Pugsan's been badgering us, hasn't he, about getting his three GOATs on there? He has.
44:42Mike Minogue:That's actually a good point.
44:43Keyzie:He's very, very keen because he loves his music. How do we feel about that?
44:47Mike Minogue:Yeah, I reckon maybe we'll do it Monday, Pugs. We'll do it Monday, man. How's that sound?
44:50Keyzie:We could bury it right at the end. I mean, sort of just. We could do it just after six, maybe.
44:55Mike Minogue:Pugs, why don't we do it Sunday? We'll do it Sunday. Yeah. Are you good Sunday? 4 a.m. We'll do it. Pugs? Pugs. Hey, coming up after six o 'clock, meet Paddy Nip 69, our advice segment. How good. So if you have an advice question, do get in touch and you can win some Reburger.
45:14Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
45:20Keyzie:Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way, brought to you by Reburg here. Reburg here.
45:31Mike Minogue:Beef, chicken, vegan, vegetarian options as well. Reburg are redefining the norm.
45:36Keyzie:Yum. Yeah, good stuff. Yum. Just on the food front tonight, fellas, talk me through. Oh, you're going to a premiere, so what, popcorn or something? Yeah, well, I hope I will have eaten by there beforehand, Jase. Yes. I was meant to be taking somebody with me. That person has pulled out. I can't find a late replacement, actually. I haven't even asked Pugs. I should have asked Pugs. But if I can't find anybody to go, double popcorn. They normally have the popcorn waiting for you on your seat, you see. Oh, how good. Double popcorn moogie.
46:04Mike Minogue:Why'd that person pull out? Are they watching the Woz? Probably, yeah. Two fist moogie. Yeah, I'll be fisting away there. Yeah, good idea, mate. Don't worry about that, Keezy. Oh, the popcorn. Huh?
46:14Keyzie:Keezy, I mean, you're starving, you said. It's put you in a horror of a mood. You said you were fuming just because you were hangry. You know what it actually does, Jason, is it makes me real low energy.
46:28Mike Minogue:Yeah. It makes your meat patty nips weep, eh? And then what happens is you guys then feed off of the fact that I've got low energy and then start being really annoying. And then I have less energy to deal with that.
46:40Keyzie:I am never annoying.
46:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, okay.
46:43Keyzie:But what are you having for tea, do you know?
46:46Mike Minogue:Come on, man. Couscous. Chicken thigh couscous tray bake thing with a Moroccan paste. I bet it's got raisins on it. No raisins. Ooh, no. Moroccan. No, there's no raisins in it. My wife's making it. Extra raisins. Right. I don't mind a bit of couscous. Yeah, my wife makes it. It's called raisin chicken. Did you raise it from a little chick? Yeah, man. Raisin chicken.
47:11Keyzie:I just got, nah, I'm done.
47:14Mike Minogue:Cool, and the best news is there's an hour of the show left. So it's only going to be punishing for 60 minutes. Jase, what are you having for dinner, man?
47:22Keyzie:Oh, look, I'm thinking re-beer gear.
47:24Mike Minogue:Oh, bullshit. You're so full of shit.
47:31Mike Minogue:What are you actually having for dinner? Re-beer gear. No, you're not. Stone Temple Pilots. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
47:46Keyzie:Queens of the Stone Age there on the Hodaki Big Show this Friday evening. The time is 16 minutes past six o 'clock, which means it's time for...
47:57Mike Minogue:What's on the news? With me, Cheesy. Yes. Pretty interesting. Hooah. Didish.
48:10Keyzie:What are you even doing? I'm excited, man, that's all.
48:15Mike Minogue:Pretty interesting stuff coming across old Keezy's news desk today, fellas. Have you got a news desk?
48:20Keyzie:Yeah. I don't even look at the news anymore because I know that Keezy's going to tell me what the news is on the show. That's right.
48:27Mike Minogue:So, about a week and a half ago, a, hang on, a meteor, a whole lot of meteors crashed into the earth in the old whited upper region. Wow. It was late at night, about 11pm, people reported hearing, like, crackling. and booming and weird noises and going, what the hell is that? Thinking it was thunder. No, thinking it was thunder, but then it was like, hang on, there's no clouds. What's going on? Hang on a minute. Turns out they were fireballs. Wow.
48:54Keyzie:That's intense.
48:55Mike Minogue:So scientists, they reviewed some of the footage and triangulated the exact spot where they thought they'd recover the old meteors from, the meteorites. Yes. Found them. Wow. There's four of them. Guess how much they weigh? A million tons. Eight grams. That was way off That's the smallest one That's only the smallest one The second smallest one Guess how much that weighs The second smallest Half a million tonnes Nine grams 12 grams And 40 grams
49:28Keyzie:Everything in context Like 12 grams for something else would be quite a lot
49:33Mike Minogue:Oh yeah
49:34Keyzie:Like what? Just other stuff
49:37Mike Minogue:Yeah
49:38Keyzie:Saffron
49:39Mike Minogue:Exactly, Mogi What's that really expensive stuff you're into? Incense.
49:54Mike Minogue:That comes. Anyway. What?
49:59Keyzie:No, that's cool. Yeah, I'm massively, particularly my sandalwood.
50:03Mike Minogue:That's right, see? And you get it by the gram. Yeah, so I do. You get it off that guy in the trench coat. It's about a gram of stick, Keezy, just for... All right, this is Keezy's news. This isn't Hoity J's what's the latest with incense, all right? Jeez. Pugs, can you make a sting for that just in case? Fireballs Aotearoa, which is a real organisation, have said that there is a real chance that there are more fireballs in that area. And if people go out and find weird, like, black-looking little rocks that weigh approximately eight grams to tag them up, bag them, take a note of where they are.
50:38Mike Minogue:Tag them and bag them. And then call Fireballs Aotearoa. Bag them and tag them.
50:43Keyzie:Fireballs sounds like a sort of gamer name, doesn't it? Fireballs 101. Doosh, doosh. Doosh, doosh. So it's sort of about the size of a piece of gravel.
50:52Mike Minogue:Yeah. Yes, pretty much. So if you find any gravel, bag it up. Bag it up. And send it to old fireballs.com. No, it's fireballs Aotearoa. I don't know what fireballs.com is. That doesn't sound like a scientist at all, does it? Fireballs.com. Or Aotearoa. Either way. Yeah. Wow. So was there an alien or did it hit a house or anything?
51:17Keyzie:Maybe a cow or something?
51:18Mike Minogue:Yeah, did it hit a cow? It hit a cow. And when the scientists got there, they were like, wow, it's clearly an alien, but there's ectoplasm everywhere. Oh. Yeah. Ectoplasm. Sandalwood, really. That's your favourite. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
51:38Keyzie:Placebo there on the Hodaki Big Show this Friday evening. God, feeling good, fellas. But right now it's time for... We're on to find the brewery of the day.
51:55Mike Minogue:That's right, the brewery of the day. Every single day in the lead-up to Bear Varner in Wellington, we feature a different brewery who's going to be exhibiting there. An exhibitor. Yeah, man. Putting on an exhibition. X to the Z. Exhibit. Yeah, that's cool, Moggy. Today's brewery. Who is it? North End. Oh, don't tell me. I have to. It's part of the whole. Okay. North End Brewing. They've been bringing a taste of Europe to Beervana. They will be bringing a taste of Europe to Beervana, which is exciting. Which is it? No, they will be. They're Carpentry Coast legends, and they're inspired by classic European beers, but aren't afraid to put their own spin on things, Moggy.
52:32Mike Minogue:Oh. You know what I mean? What sort of spin are we talking about? Oh, they'll take a classic. Yeah, sure.
52:36Keyzie:That will be quite a different sort of taste for me because I've never been to Europe, of course. If I've got a taste of Europe, then I'm going to... Have you been to Carpity? I have been to Carpity, yes. Much of a muchness. Right, okay. With the whole of Europe. Yes. Very similar to Spain, is it? Yeah, Spain.
52:52Mike Minogue:Yeah. Hey, they're all about making bloody good beer that's full of flavour, whether it's a crisp drop for a Santiago or something with a bit more punch when you're settling in for the night. Douche, douche. Yeah, no overthinking it, no fancy carry-on, just quality brews, good times and beers that are made to be enjoyed with mates, fellas. That's North End Brewing, and they'll be at Bear Vana. How good. I can't wait. It's been quite an effort to sit, because you've got to sit down and write that stuff. Yes. And also, Jase, you have to sit down and write. You have to write your own bios. What do you mean by that?
53:25As an actor. Yes. Or somebody that's sort of in entertainment. so when you read that thing that says for example Chris Key has been working in radio and television for 15 years, he started out as a junior reporter on The Crowd Goes Wild before moving over to Radio Haldeki working on nights and then moved into all of that when you read those, it's important that people know that in this example Keezy wrote that what do you mean in this example? the person wrote that you don't have somebody writing it on your behalf. People don't look at what you're doing. You have to sit down and write that stuff, and it's humiliating, even though you're doing it by yourself.
54:04Yeah, yeah.
54:05Keyzie:I remember the first time I had to write out my sort of bio. It was like, in 1990, a star was born.
54:14Mike Minogue:So you're 36 now. You're one year older than me now. Really, Jase? 1990. I thought when they, because when you started writing your bios later in life, They actually got the Pulitzer Prize, didn't it, for best writing.
54:29Keyzie:Yeah, I didn't want to bring that up, but yes, that's true. I felt a bit embarrassed about that. It's like it's only my bio for God's sake. And a great work of fiction. Yeah.
54:41Mike Minogue:Do you like The Killers?
54:42Keyzie:I do like The Killers.
54:43Mike Minogue:Oh, well, you're going to love this. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
54:49Keyzie:ACDC there on The Hauraki Big Show this Friday night. Fellas, let's give out some advice.
54:58Mike Minogue:Meet PaddyNib69 at gmail.com. Get in touch with the fellas.
55:05Keyzie:With the fellas.
55:07Mike Minogue:So don't everyone low on emails, fellas. We might have to can this segment. Yes. Meet PaddyNib69 at gmail.com. It is a real email address if you want a re-burger voucher. If you need advice on anything, if you want a feature on the show, email us, all right? Good stuff. Okay. How's that good stuff? Especially in the relationship.
55:24Keyzie:Well, I mean, you're encouraging people to participate in the show. Oh, yeah, yeah. Relationship chat's good, I think.
55:30Mike Minogue:Well, this is relationship chat. Okay. This is from Anonymous. I don't really feel like relationship chat today, but all good. No, I think you'll like this one. Okay. G'day, fellas. Is it sexy? G'day, fellas. Found myself on the horns of a dilemma over the weekend. It was Saturday evening and me and the fellas are at the pub getting responsible steamed. He's literally put responsible steamed. Yeah, he's maggoted. I think he's half cut now. Went out of the blue. My crush from year seven walked in with a new boyfriend. Yeah, that'd be right. We are now 23. And then he's putting brackets here. QJs with the fellas.
56:07Mike Minogue:With the fellas. I was just wondering whether I walk up to her and smack the boyfriend over and try and start to chat her up, being the steam champion I currently am, or just let her be as she hasn't recognized me yet. She is anonymous. This guy's at the pub currently. He's at the pub. He's steamed. So he was steamed right in it. That's good stuff. Yeah, massively steamed. I like it. He's like, oh, should I go and talk to her? Oh, I know. I'll email the family. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wonder if we're too late.
56:32Keyzie:I still remember my crush from primary school. Remember her name and everything. Why wouldn't you? Is that okay to say her name? Probably not, eh?
56:42Mike Minogue:Say her first name.
56:44Keyzie:Joanne. Tammy. Tammy was mine. Tammy? Yes. Tammy. Yes.
56:48Mike Minogue:I was enraptured. Yeah. Enraptured. I'm trying to think who mine was. I don't have one in primary school. Go on, Jase. Yeah, Jase, go on, man. Get him, Jase. I don't know.
57:04Keyzie:And I used to, even back then, you know, dream up scenarios of rescuing her from a, you know, like a schoolyard fight or something like that. I used to do that. Isn't that funny? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Did you used to draw lips on your pillow and make out with it?
57:22Mike Minogue:Yes. And would you draw like a likeness of her face on those lips as well?
57:27Keyzie:I was never a very good drawer.
57:29Mike Minogue:Didn't stop me from going at it, though.
57:33Keyzie:On my pillow?
57:34Mike Minogue:Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, giving it.
57:36Keyzie:No, just sort of a broad outline. Like a stick man face.
57:42Mike Minogue:Weren't you burning through like three pillows a week?
57:49Absolutely soft and wet. Oh, come on. Covered in saliva. You're a shocking bastard, Jase. But I will say, I think it is worth this guy having a chat.
57:59Mike Minogue:Yeah, for sure. It's a bit tricky given the boyfriend situation, but... But you just go have a yarn anyway. He can have a yarn. Yeah, he'll be back in the day. You were amazing. Now, the trouble is, of course, that he's steamed. Yes. Now, that's... But he might not go up to her unless he's steamed. She might like drunk guys. Oh, are there people that do? I haven't found it yet. My advice is to go up to her while drunk. Yeah. It's lovely to see you. We should catch up sometime. Yeah. When I'm not hammered. And you haven't got a boyfriend. And he's gone. That's the way to do it right there. I think so.
58:42Let us know how you go. Yeah, get in touch. Yeah, please get in touch.
58:45Keyzie:Well, I've got a feeling that she's probably gone by now. Well. No, he's still at the pub. Is he?
58:50Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
59:00Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for you Friday and for the week in the podcast outro today. What clip are we running with there, Keezy?
59:09Mike Minogue:I think we had hot water bottle chat. Oh, yeah. Which is always exciting. The podcast comes out at 7.30 tonight. Search Hauraki Big Show wherever you get your putties.
59:18Keyzie:But I did like a hot water bottle They've got them now And it's a great invention I saw one I saw them in the shop there And I thought nah Then of course my wife bought one But they're three feet long I was thinking that last night
59:33Mike Minogue:I was like man a long one would be nice You like a long one don't you Keezy eh Yeah d*** wise
59:41But also Disclaimer baby How wide was it Just the right words for you, brother.
59:47Mike Minogue:You can take it. Yes, clever stuff. We've renamed it. It's called The Disclaimer now, the podcast outro. Yes. Yeah. I like it. Because every now and then we'd have to record a disclaimer being like, hey, guys, Mogi was really filthy this episode, so no kiddies around. Generally, yeah.
1:00:03Keyzie:Speaking of Mogi, you were on the horns of a dilemma, weren't you tonight? I'm on the horns of my own very personal dilemma because I'm desperate to watch the Warriors game. Desperate. it's, you know, Warriors vs Penrith you've got all sorts of drama with Lukey Met having to come in with Tomaidi Martin going out, but I've got the premiere of a movie at the film festival going along and I feel like I need to support I don't even have a dog in the race at the film festival I don't even have a dog in the race
1:00:30Mike Minogue:Easy call then So it's not even one of your mates or like a business reason? A couple of mates, but not for the business We've got Karen O 'Leary's in it but I think she's not one of the main roles Right, okay It's called Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant. Oh, that's right. But I feel like I should go because I haven't been to a film premiere for a long time, and I haven't been to the New Zealand Film Festival for a really, really long time. But it's just so hard. I'm being tested. I thought... What I'm going to do, but it's tricky because what I'm probably going to do is I'm going to watch the first half and then I'm going to walk straight into the movie.
1:01:05What if it's a ripper? But at that point, I know, Keezy, but at that point, if I'm going to be there right up until the movie starts and all I'm going to do is go into a room and watch a movie and then leave as quick as I can. What's the point? You're not rubbing elbows or anything. No, no, no. But look, if I go, I'll do it properly. And I will go.
1:01:24Mike Minogue:I'm going to watch The Warriors. Yeah, man. What are you going to do, Jase? Same.
1:01:29Keyzie:And genuinely, I'm excited by it. It's going to be a good match by the sounds. Hell yeah.
1:01:34Mike Minogue:I'm in, I'm in, I'm in. Yeah, shout out to anyone who's going along tonight to Mount Smart 2. It's going to be a ripper of a game. For sure.
1:01:40Keyzie:Hey, fellas, have a great weekend. I'm away for a week.
1:01:44Mike Minogue:So is Moggy too. So is Moggy.
1:01:46Keyzie:Well, no, I'm there on Monday. Oh, he's there on Monday. Boy, DJ's away for a week and I'll be back the week after. You take care out there. Till then, goodbye. Bye.
