In short
The Hauraki Big Show (full episode) mixes comedy and radio bits: “Bring Back the Brown Eye” (a step-by-step instructional campaign), TV/movie reviews, listener “what’s for tea” dinner texts, giveaways/competitions, a debate about the phrase “white whale” after a rare white whale sighting off Kaikoura, and “bed chat” about duvets/blankets.
Guests/hosts
No external guests. Hosts are Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keyzie (Keezy). They also interact with callers/listeners (e.g., a septic-tank cleaner named John; a diesel mechanic named Seth).
Key claims
Brown eye should return as Kiwiana; management pushback can be overcome via an “instructional video” and even a live boardroom demonstration. “White whale” is an obsessive pursuit term from Moby-Dick, but they also discuss a real rare white whale sighting and apologize for “racism toward whales” wording. Fiji trip banter; Reburger is the sponsor.
Notable examples
How-to brown eye video with Keezy; TV picks: Slow Horses, Bringing Out the Dead, and Celebrity Traitors on 3Now; dinner texts include chicken nuggets, cheesy gnocchi, and “blue cod, eggs, hash browns.”

0:57Keyzie:G'day, Mogi, you're Randy Stallion.
0:59Jase:How's life? Yeah, going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. I've got to tell you, man, I'm absolutely fizzing. I'm frothing. Yeah, same. I'm getting very, very excited because we're going to Fiji, fellas. What? Buller. That's what they say over there, Jase, so just be careful, all right? Yeah, yeah. Buller, Vinaka.
1:14Keyzie:Racism alert. Racism alert.
1:18Jase:Yeah, maybe just you stick to hello. Right, okay. Yeah, because you're probably going to get smacked over talking to people like that. Just pretend I'm a Fijian local. Just say hello to me. Hello.
1:30Keyzie:Racism alert. Yeah. Racism alert. Maybe just...
1:33Jase:Something about your demeanour. Yeah. Maybe just don't say anything.
1:37Keyzie:Have I got just like a racist face or something like that? It is. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. It's a look in your eye. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Keezy, how are you? Jeez, I love it. I know you're in good form when you wear your cat backwards. And, boy, you're looking good, man, you young stud. How's life? Really good, thanks, Jase. You got my hat on backwards because we're going to Fiji soon, man.
2:02Jase:He's got a bit of stubble going as well. You got a bit of stubble going. I don't know if you know that, Kizzie, but you have, man. How about this? All three of us do. Oh, how about that? The stubble boys. Three studs.
2:11Keyzie:Well, are we going to be clean shaven when we go to Fiji? Is that the look? I will shave Friday morning. Granted, it'll be 5 a.m. because we fly first thing. Yeah. I will shave then. And then I won't shave until I'm home. Oh, hot. Is it? Yeah, totally. Hey, Mogey. How are you, Jase? Yes, I'm very well, thank you, Keese. Yeah, how are you, man? What's going on? I've had a great day. And I'm just fizzing for the show today. It's going to be an absolute doozy. I can feel it in my bones. With that in mind, actually, Mogey, what have we got coming up?
2:45Jase:What's happening on The Big Show with old Mogey? Well, it's another bloody exciting day here at The Big Show. Another opportunity to get in the draw for the Diamond on Richmond's competition. One engagement ring valued at$8 ,000. There's going to be a little bit of chat around what I got up to last night for my birthday dinner. I don't know if you guys know, but it was my birthday yesterday. Oh, wow. Happy birthday. And next up, we'll be getting into brown eye chat. Brown eye chat. So stick around for that, especially if you've got kids in the car. In the meantime, at ACDC. The Hauraki Big Show.
3:24Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:26Keyzie:Split ends here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. In the time, 12 minutes past four. Don't forget to keep an ear out for the roar of the crowd. If you hear it, give us a call on 0800-HAURAKI and you can win$250 to put towards your next gig thanks to Super Liquor. Great stuff. Now, yesterday, on yesterday's show, Mogi and I were feeling a little nostalgic and we were remembering the good old days. Most specifically, we were talking about the old brown eye, which was a very big part of our culture. That's right. It was a very big part of our growing up. And we wanted to start a campaign called Bring Back the Brown Eye.
4:01Keyzie:Yes. Interestingly, Kesey was never really something he did growing up. No one pulled brown eyes when I was growing up. They'd do the occasional moon. Yes, look at my bum. Look at my bum cheeks. Yeah, yeah. As the bus is going past or something. Now, unsurprisingly, fellas, it's absolutely gone off. Really? Old Pugsana's been inundated with people getting on board with it. A few pics, a few videos coming through. He's been sifting through those. As we anticipated, isn't it, Mogi?
4:32Jase:Absolutely. But what we're sort of finding with a lot of them is they're coming from people who are sort of basing what they're doing from how we described it. And there's been a few misunderstandings there. People not quite getting it right. You could say that, like, their finger's not in the right places, et cetera, et cetera. A few absolute disasters that can only be described as. So we've decided the best thing that we could possibly do, really, would be to do an instructional video, a how-to. Yes, how to pull a brown eye. How to pull a brown eye starring me, Keezy. Oh, me? Yeah. Well, no, I don't know how to pull a brown eye.
5:06Well, exactly. Perfect.
5:07Jase:So that makes perfect sense. Jason and I do know how to, so we'll show you how to do it. Show me as in I'll be watching you do it. No, I'll show you and we'll guide you through it. And Pugson, of course, will be videoing the whole thing in high-definition 4G. That'll do. So that'll be bloody good, and we'll get that up on the old socials.
5:28Keyzie:Yeah, well, look, it's a step-by-step process that we'll talk you through, Keezy. And we'll do it in, like, Studio B or maybe the green room over there. Yeah. And that way we'll go through each step of the process so that the listeners out there get it right. With Keezy, because if you haven't ever done it before, it's a great opportunity for you to learn how to do it properly. An opportunity. It's a good opportunity for me. Yeah, totally.
5:50Jase:Well, that's right. And Jase has managed to get you this job as your agent. I'm not sure what the fee is that's involved in it exactly, Jase. It's between the two of you.
5:58Keyzie:Yeah, we're still working through that. Who with? I'm just crunching the numbers as we speak. What does that mean? Well, I'm crunching the numbers, mate.
6:07Jase:What a thing to have on your CV, man. Yes. Number one on the call sheet, you are the man doing the brown eye in the how to do a brown eye video.
6:16Keyzie:When you're looking at future jobs, what a thing, what a quiver in your bow to say, I was the lead guy in the bring back the brown eye campaign. So you think that'll help? Yeah, totally, man. Because I feel like it might hinder. No, not at all. Right, okay. Because companies love seeing people being involved in things that go off, and this is going to go off.
6:36Jase:You look at Kim Kardashian, how she got famous initially, of course, was also off the back of a homemade video, went bloody gangbusters. Now, prior to that, was she thinking, oh, I don't know how this is going to go. I'm thinking you could be New Zealand's Kim Kardashian here, Kesey.
6:54Right, so I'm pulling, and then Pugs will obviously be filming from an angle so that... Straight up the guts.
7:00Keyzie:Yeah, up the guts. What needs to be posted on... Straight to camera. Well, people need to know what they're looking at. How long is the video? About an hour and a half. Yeah, it'll take about an hour and a half to get it right.
7:13The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
7:19Keyzie:Pluto there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time, 23 minutes past four o 'clock. And as expected, Phil, it's always the case, isn't it, when you have a great idea. There's been a bit of managerial pushback on the old brown eye, bring back the brown eye campaign. Can I just say I think I kind of agree with management. in this instance. That'd be a first. Yeah, totally. But the issue is that you're trying to get me to do a brown eye, we're going to put a video, we're going to put it online, teach everyone how to do a brown eye in an effort to bring back the brown eye. Yeah.
7:50So I agree with management. I don't think it's a good idea. Well, I don't think you understand the brown eye, Keezy.
7:57Jase:And the thing about it is it's a lack of education on your part. So if you've got all the information, I feel like you can make the best possible decision. I feel that way about management as well. Yes. I just don't feel like they've got all the information. This comes from a good place. This is Kiwiana and we're bringing it back to the forefront. And how can that be a bad thing?
8:14Keyzie:Totally. And I just think it's a case of they need to see it. Once they see it, they'll feel more comfortable with it. Build it and they will come. Build it and they will come. I don't know if I want them coming. And the idea is once they see it, they go, oh, okay, I got what you're thinking here. So we show it to Boggs, we show it to upper management, maybe filtered around radio stations because we want this to go off, not just a hurricane. Tony Street. Tony Street.
8:40Jase:You want to get Tony Street in. Look, if she gives the thumbs up, Maddie McLean, if Maddie McLean gets in behind it, we're on to a winner. Well, you're just listing off all the big dogs.
8:50Keyzie:We want thumbs up all around. We do. And we want people to feel comfortable about it because this is the whole point of it. It's not an embarrassing thing. We just want people to feel comfortable about it and normalise it, you know what I mean? So how are we going to do this then? because management has pushed back on it. Well, we carry on with what we're going to do with the video. Yeah. We show it to management. They say it and go for it.
9:11Jase:I think that's not bad, Jase, but I think even better than that, you've got to have a bit of charisma in the room. So I think we walk in on the next board meeting. Oh, you mean live? Live. Oh, yeah, like it. It's like when you were live from the bathtub at Sky City a little while ago. That was a brilliant piece of radio. That was great radio. Now, we barge into the boardroom here. You've got all the NZME bigwigs are there. You've got Bogsy and Tony Street. Matty McLean's there as well, of course. Jeremy Wells would be there. George Yeezy, yeah, for sure. Sam Wallace would be up there as well. Heathy.
9:45Jase:Wow, all the big dogs. And we roll you in there, Keezy, and you're just down with your trousers. Obviously, there's going to be a sustained period of rehearsals required, so we know that you can get it right on the day. but the douche down it goes and then out with this just glowing ring piece.
10:02Keyzie:Just spread it. Why is it glowing? Just hang on. Just spread it. So why does it have to be – because we're trying to prove to management that this thing needs to make a return. Brown eyes are a young man's game, Kesey.
10:16Jase:Right. You don't want to wheel out a hoity J ring piece for an old mogie, you know, rusty sheriff's badge, I think they call it, Jase. Yes. Which has been generous.
10:24Keyzie:Even though, you know, Mogi's been lasered to buggery, you certainly don't want a hoity Jane nest being shown off. So we think the younger the better. And Mogi is bang on. It's a young man's game. It really is. This is what was part of our youth. That's why we want to bring it back.
10:41Jase:We're inspiring the youth, Keezy, and you're almost a part of that. So I reckon, oh, man. Right. It's a handsome anus you've got. Well, have you seen it? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. When? Well, hang on. So the idea is they're in the next board meeting, shareholders meeting. Yeah. Yes. Right. So these are people that make all the calls with the company. Yes. We barge in. Yeah. You guys kick the doors. We walk in up to the front. Yeah. And then I sort of turn around. Do I say anything? You would have to get up on the boardroom table. On the table. On the table. Then you're down-trousered to do's. And then Hoity J and I will take them through a 19-point keynote presentation, which will take about an hour, hour 45.
11:21Right. And I'm doing a brown eye for the whole thing. Yeah. Yeah, man.

11:46Keyzie:250 bucks. Pretty handy, eh, fellas? Wouldn't mind it. Pretty bloody good, all right, Jase. Jeez. Far out. Far out, man. Imagine this, man. This is so good. I can't even imagine it. Wow. G'day, John, you mad bastard. How's life?
12:00Jase:Not bad, mate. I bet you. Yeah.
12:03Keyzie:Don't get him started with me, my boss. Pretty good, thanks, John. I can't complain. Now, listen. What do you do for a crust, John? Oh, I clean out septic tanks, mate. Actual backbone. Good on you, mate. Do you seriously, John? No, straight up. Yep. Because we were talking about this the other day. because Jase was saying, what was it? Is there a worse job than pulling out trees, a harder job? Yeah. And I suggested cleaning out septic tanks. Do you like your job there, John? Oh, mate, it's always a shitty day, but it's the pay. Yeah, they're the one. They're the one. That total bag. Now, John, if we were to give you$250, what gig do you want to go and see?
12:42I'm hanging out to go see Blindspot. I don't know when, but, you know. Yeah, mate. Well, I'll tell you what, we'll chuck you$250 cash courtesy of Super Liquor, mate. You go see Blindspot, all right? Oh, you legend.
12:53Keyzie:No worries, mate. You enjoy that, John, you backbone. Yeah. Good on you. Cheers, lad. Thanks, mate. I reckon when he goes to a gig, old John, you reckon there's a bit of a... Come on, man. What? Nothing. Hey, this is all cheers to gigs, cheers to Super Liquor, cheers to that. Keep an ear out for that roar of the crowd because we do have a whole heap of cash to give away. $10 ,000. Wow. Actually, more than$10 ,000 to give away. Do we know how much we've got left? Keezer, you keeping an eye on that, man? Is that your job? Yep, it's my job. Okay. I've got over 10 grand left. Still. Just on that front, fellas, any gigs you guys want to go and see that are upcoming?
13:32Jase:Yeah, we've got Metallica coming, Toola coming. Yes. So those are two off the top of my dome I can think of. I really want to go see that British TV show I watched about the radio station. Oh, yes. Corrupt FM are coming to New Zealand at the end of the year. And they're going to be in Coromandel, actually. But I think they're at a festival, and I've missed the tickets for that. Well, that's another one. Kid Cudi's coming as well. who I'm a huge fan of from back in the day, and still now he's just released a new album, but he's only going to, I think, Rhythm and Vines. I just don't. I'm just going to be missing that one.
14:01Keyzie:Because you were saying they're all just hippies there, weren't you? Well, they're not.
14:04Jase:They're 22-year-old sickos. I think I might be a bit past it, brother. Get lasered up, get fake tanned up, and you get to Rhythm and Vines. Get shredded. Yeah, totally. Good idea.
14:13Keyzie:I go to that every year. I mean, it's all G, man. Where is it again? What? Rhythm and Vines. If you don't know the answer to that, It's an embarrassment to you and all your family. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Skid Row there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time is 4.48. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
14:42Keyzie:Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!
14:45Jase:Yes. Woo! I'm caught up on a bit of Slow Horses. It's on Apple TV, stars Gary Oldman, and it's a British spy sort of a thriller. It's very good, I love it. It's great. It's not amazing, but it's great. I'm really enjoying it. Yes. Couple of three episodes into it. It's good stuff, fellas. And that's about all I've got to say about it.
15:06Keyzie:It's a good solid drama slash comedy.
15:08Jase:Yeah.
15:09Keyzie:I watched last night Bringing Out the Dead. Oh, Martin Scorsese starring Nicolas Cage. Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette, John Goodman, our own Cliff Curtis. What year would that be like? 90s? Yeah. 98? 99. There we go. And Cliff Curtis, he talked about the fact that, you know, when he sort of broke through in America, not in the film, obviously, about his career, he was always cast as a South American kind of... Yeah. He's very good in this movie, by the way. The movie is about Frank. Oh, Frank. A mentally strained and overworked paramedic from Manhattan tries to maintain his sanity as he tends to various emergencies and hallucinates about all the people whose lives he could not save.
15:55Keyzie:And it just gets more and more whack. And he's on a bad run, basically, where everyone he attends to basically dies and he's getting more and more paranoid about it, getting more and more worked up. The whole movie's kind of whack. All the characters are whack. It's basically about people suffering from massive mental strain and mental illness Quite entertaining A little bit all over the place 2.9 buzzies Out of possible 5 buzzies Yeah Wow
16:24Jase:I really enjoyed that when that came out I hadn't seen it for a long time but yeah I really enjoyed it Took me a while to watch it just because of You know Oh god here we go Going to be depressed again But he's very very good Nicolas Cage
16:35Keyzie:Yeah he is great And if you like Nicolas Cage getting more and more deranged this is the movie for you. He's great in National Treasure. And that's on Disney, by the way. Oh, is it? Yes. And it's not a recommend from you. A Scorsese film is not a recommend. Okay, I'll give it a three.
16:53Jase:Okay. Oh, there you go. Last night my wife said, all right, we're going to try watching something new together. And I said, all right, I chose the last thing, which was that Aussie, what was it called? Upper Middle Class Bogan. No, no, no, we loved that. It was on Netflix. It's about the big bouncer fella I've talked about before. Oh, yeah, yeah. Can't remember. Yeah. Les Norton. Yeah, there we go. She didn't enjoy it, too much stress. So she had been talking to one of her workmates who was saying, unfortunately, it's reality TV, but the British version of Traitors on TV, three now, I think it is, but it's Celebrity Traitors.
17:27That's right. And so I was instantly like, I don't want to watch it. And then I looked at the list of celebrities. Stephen Fry's on it. Joe Wilkinson's on it. Alan Carr is on it. Wow. Jonathan Ross, like just all these brilliant names from all over, you know, different areas of broadcasting in the UK. And they 100 % made a very intolerable game show with really annoying cliche tropes about digging your own grave and being set in a castle, etc. They made it super entertaining. Great. I've watched half of the first episode and Alan Carr, it's not a spoiler because the audience is aware, he gets, you know, chatty man, Alan Carr.
18:06Yes. Very, very funny British comedian. He gets chosen as one of the traitors who basically, like, they have to go around and secretly kill off people while lying and pretending to be innocent the whole time.
18:15Jase:Right. And he is, like, freaking out of it. It is so funny. So, yeah, I only watched half an episode, but I really, really enjoyed it. Great. Yeah, so I give it, you know, for a reality show, which has less stars than a movie, I give it four buzzies out of five. Four out of a possible three for a reality TV show.
18:34Keyzie:Yeah, four out of a possible three. That's a good point, Mogi. That's quite the recommendation there, Keezy. It's still just pointless reality. And what's it on? That's on 3Now. There we go. 3Now. Thanks, mate. Check it out. Here's Muse. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Keezy. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday is going along very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options too. Re-Burger are redefining the norm. 1-1-1, what's your emergency?
19:11Jase:I'm sorry, I really need help. I just think it's really important that everyone knows just how delicious Re-Burger is because obviously their stuff's handcrafted and they do these loaded fries and gourmet. I just know that people know that they're changing the game because it's so... Yeah!
19:36Jase:That's a waste of the police, the emergency services time. That's shocking.
19:43Keyzie:Yeah. That gets deep inside my gut. You know, there's people really struggling out there.
19:47Jase:And the problem with that is it's only going to increase the queues at Reburger for the likes of you and me, the people that get it. Totally. Well, that's the whole idea, right? We want people. Yeah, shocking bastards. We really want people to go to Reburger.
19:59Keyzie:I mean, that clown, whoever they were, So it could have cost a life then. What, by calling the police? Calling 111, yeah. 111. And telling them about Reburger. Yes. Someone's actually made a good point on 3483. Oh, yeah? With the bring back the brown eye. No. Oh. Although that campaign is still running strong at this point. No. Do you guys realise that Fiji doesn't have Reburgers? What are you going to eat? Well, this isn't a thing. I'm actually planning on catching my own food over there. Oh, right, okay. Just going out there in the canoe. Oh, yeah. Catching a few reef fish and cooking you. Oh, not cooking you.
20:40Keyzie:Giving you, making some raw fish salads and stuff like that. Nice. I don't like fish. Up on the beach, yeah, you'll like my fish, Keezy. Best in the world. It'll be fresh as. Oh, yeah. A bit of coconut milk, a bit of lime juice, a bit of cracked pepper. What do you think? Best in the world, eh, number one. A bit of lemon zest. Beautiful, mate. Get it in here, man. I'll probably just eat at the restaurant. Yeah, I'll eat at the restaurant. At the resort, yeah. Your choice, man. Yeah, I know. Yeah, I've chosen. That's an easy choice. That's not great.
21:10Jase:Piece of piss, that choice. Literally, that easy choice. There's no choice at all.
21:13Keyzie:I mean, if you guys are choosing to eat... I'm going to eat Jase's reef fish. That's fine by me, family. I'll just enjoy it by myself. Thanks very much. Cheers, Kings of Leo. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Radio there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. this Tuesday evening. The time is 12 minutes past 5 o 'clock. You know, Keezy, I can't help but notice over the last week and a half, indeed, two weeks, that you're on your computer there having a bit of a sift through properties in between songs and tunes on our show. I'm very aware of the fact that you look at you and your lovely, lovely wife.
21:53Keyzie:Holy hecka. Holy hecka. Jesus, that's pretty full on. Or looking to, you know, move up. Well, we're just starting to think about it. The property sort of scale, maybe branch out a little bit. Well, we're just like starting to look, you know what I mean? Like we're just going, all right, maybe we need to upgrade our house. You know, maybe the time has come. Because we've been there for seven years. Seven years. Seven years. Seven years. Seven years. Far out, man. Well, originally when we. That's ages.
22:20Jase:And in Teatasy too, which is a shithole. Yeah, that's shocking. Yeah, I mean. And, yeah, I mean, look, I like the suburb, personally. It's in West Auckland, but, you know, people living around New Zealand won't give a crap where Te Aratu is. No, exactly. That's right. But it's in West Auckland, lovely little spot.
22:36Keyzie:That's just jokes. I love Te Aratu. It's beautiful. Okay, this is weird. Do you? But I'm thinking to myself, because I've been talking about the fact that I'm moving out of my house. Oh, my God. And I'm thinking, talk about two worlds colliding here.
22:50Jase:The answer was under the massive honker this whole time.
22:54Keyzie:The whole time, Moggy. Why don't you and your lovely, lovely wife. Jeez Louise. My name's Lucy. Holy hecka. Oh, man alive, 85. What? Now you're talking. Move, maybe buy, look at buying our house. Because what we could do in that process is cut out the middleman, Kesey. Who's the middleman? Oh, like a real estate agent. I don't know about you guys. You're a shocking bastard. It's outrageous how much of a cut they get from your proceeds. 80%, man. Unbelievable. 80. 80%. I thought it was like four or three. Jeez, no, mate. Well, it's been seven years since you've sold a house, so you've got some harsh lessons to learn.
23:39I've never sold a house ever. Oh, there you go. Oh, right. Because it's my first house. The problem is, Jase, you live like deep in West Auckland. Yeah, man, I'm a true Westie. Yeah, you and your beautiful, beautiful wife. Hang on. He's way out. Just come on, mate. Wow, that showed some respect there, man.
23:58Keyzie:That's a bit pervy. You're shocking, man. What the hell's going on there? You guys live deep in West Auckland, right? Yes. Even further than where I live. Because we need a bit more space, you know. Have you got a big property? Huge property. About 900 square metres. Wow. Beautiful backyard there. Usable? Oh, yeah, it's usable, all right. I mean, we never do. No. And there is a massive tree at the back of our property that needs to be cut down, but I just can't be. I mean, it's a bloody expensive barster to cut down. Death trap. You're probably looking 6 ,000 or 7 ,000 K just right off the bat there.
24:34Keyzie:But, yeah, big property. 6 ,000 or 7 ,000 K. That's a lot. Yeah, to cut the tree down. It is massive. Right. Okay, but is the land, like, flat and usable? Is it cleared? Is it usable? It's a bit hilly. Right, it's on a hill. So you're on a hill. Rolling hills. Yeah. Yeah, it's like a rolling meadow, if you will.
24:52Jase:A meadow, right. Yeah, with a pet cemetery on it.
24:54Keyzie:Right. Oh, yeah, there's a few things buried there. How many bedrooms? Well, three.
25:00Jase:Yeah.
25:01Keyzie:But you could make it four if you use the sunroom as a bedroom. Yes. Like conservatory. Yeah, but the windows are falling out there, so I probably wouldn't use it at this stage as a bedroom. And the roof leaks occasionally, only when it really pisses down, though. Right. It's got heat pumps and all that, eh? It's got a heat pump. Yeah. But she's such an old villa, she's a drafty bastard. Yeah, right. I mean, it's kind of pointless having it because it just dissipates out the house as soon as it's pumped out there. Do you still have that pig that lives underneath the floorboards?
25:36Jase:Yeah, can't catch the bastard. A pig? Like a wild pig? It's like a, what do you call it there, an insincorator, but it's a pig.
25:43Keyzie:Oh, wow. Well, it's bloody handy, actually, because our unsink rate is actually broken, so the food just goes straight under the house. The bastard just hoes into it. It's a big bastard now, as you can imagine. Your sink drains straight under the house. Yeah, straight under the... Yeah. And is that normal for all the other stuff in your house too, like your shower and your toilet and stuff? We've got two showers. Yeah. Only one of them works, though. And the one that is working, actually, the glass is coming a bit loose there, so you just need to be careful when you're in there, that's all. Right.
26:11Keyzie:Two toilets. Again, only one of them works. someone's done an absolute steamer and the other one I would be buggered if I can dislodge the bastard I've been trying to get the pig
26:20Jase:to come up but he won't come in the house he won't come in the house because he's scared of the duck because there's a duck that lives in the lounge Walter right you know what Jase I'm all good man well hang on a minute how much? wow how much man?
26:34Keyzie:1.4 1.5 it's in your kind of million yeah

29:42Jase:You're going to start having people over, aren't you? Yeah, totally need the tools for that sort of stuff, man.
29:47Keyzie:So go to ITM. Check it out. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. REM there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. The time, 5.48. Fellas, I've got some breaking news.
30:06This is breaking news. Have you heard of the saying, white whale?
30:16Jase:The saying? No. It's like a saying. That's a couple of words. But like the saying. That's not a saying. No, it's a saying. I've never heard it used as a saying. Well, it's not a saying. You can't just say, white whale, and people know what you're talking about. Well, no, out of context, of course, that's not a good saying. Oh, yeah. So what's the saying? The saying is, oh, that's my white whale. Oh, yeah, if you've got a white whale, I guess. No, no, no, it's not about you owning a white whale. Can you ever really own a whale? I don't think you can, Moggy No, true, 100 % I agree But it's like, oh, it's my white whale Like you want to spot a white whale You know, that's your That's your Everest, almost Right I think Anyway I have no idea what you're talking about, Keith I've never heard that What?
31:02Jase:Your white whale is sort of an obsessive all-consuming pursuit. Is that what it is? That's what it is, yeah. So you'll pursue it to your own detriment from the book Moby Dick. Oh, is that what it's from? Yeah, yeah. I've never heard it in my life. Anywho, anyway, a white whale, an actual white humpback whale, spotted off the coast of Kaikoura today. I don't think you can say that, can you? Kaikoura? No, it's Kaikoura. But I would say it's just a whale. Yeah.
31:36Keyzie:Mogi might get away with saying that. I certainly wouldn't. No.
31:40Jase:You can't call it a white whale. It's just a whale because it doesn't matter. Yeah, yeah. It's not important.
31:44Keyzie:I'm amazed the siren hasn't already gone off, actually. What siren? The racism siren. Yeah. I can't be racist towards a whale.
31:52Jase:Well, it seems you can.
31:53Keyzie:You can be. You can. Sorry, hang on. If it was a black whale, would you say it?
31:58Jase:Yeah. Well, probably. Because he's a racist, but he's a shocking bastard. Sorry, you can't be racist towards whales. They're not humans. The reason I'm even bringing it up is because it's a very rare white-coloured whale. I'm not saying that the whales... Yeah, I mean, whales as a whole are rare. You don't need to... I get a bad feeling when people start defining things by their colour. Yes. Be that human or any of God's creatures.
32:32Keyzie:It's like you're trying to make out that somehow this whale is special because it's white. Because it's white. Well, that's exactly what it is. And that is, I certainly wouldn't go there.
32:43Jase:So what you're saying is if it's just any other kind of whale, then it's not important? It doesn't matter? Yes, because if it's just a regular whale, if it's just a normal whale, like normal whale colours. Which is what? I don't know. Whale colour, like humpback. I can't know, is it blue or grey or something? And then this one is white. I don't know, and you know why I don't know? Why? Because colour doesn't matter to me. They're just whales.
33:09Keyzie:It's a whale. I don't go when I see a whale, my God, look, a grey whale.
33:17Jase:I think what you want to say, Keezy, is a whale was spotted off Kaikoura. Yeah. A whale was spotted off the coast of Kaikoura. Well, that happens all the time, Keezy. Totally. Why are you telling us that? There's whale watching down there. It's hardly breaking news. It is not breaking news at all. Now, if it was a special kind of a whale. It was. It was white. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
33:42Keyzie:The Clash there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time, 5.56. Hey, fellas, I'd just like to make a quick apology. Yeah. If you just joined us, I just read an article about a white whale that was spotted off the coast of Kaikoura today. it shouldn't matter what ethnicity the whale was. I should have just said a whale was spotted off the coast and I'm sorry and I apologise for inadvertently being racist towards whales. So I'd like to just put it behind us if that's okay. Okay, man. It's not me you need to apologise to, though. I just did it to the nation, didn't I? Or was it the whales?
34:25And the whales. Do you want me to... Yeah.
34:32Jase:Very stupid, Keith. Sorry. That was racist, man. Was it? Are you kidding me? You can't impersonate a whale. Would you impersonate the accent of somebody from one of the Asian countries, please? No, I wouldn't. Well, you would. I've seen you do it.
34:48Keyzie:Now, listen.
34:52Keyzie:What's for Teen New Zealand? Text us. 3483, and you could win yourself a$50 reward. burger voucher. You're a shocking boss.
35:04The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
35:10Keyzie:You're welcome back you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday's going along nicely. You're listening to the big show brought to you by Reburger. Serving good times and good food. Dine in or takeaway at Reburger today. Yum. Yeah man. Just a nice short one straight to the point. You know what I mean fellas? Fellas, we've got coming up next, what's for tea New Zealand with me. Oh, no, what's on the dinner with Nick Easy. Here's what's on the dinner for me. Okay. And I'm intrigued. I texted my wife, we were chatting, and she said. You texted her. and she said, I have a tamarind chutney flavoured mince wrap but on a skewer type thing.
35:58What the hell is that? What the hell is that?
36:03Keyzie:Have you ever heard of such a weird thing? A tamarind chutney flavoured mince wrap but on a skewer. You know what?
36:13Jase:I hate a skewer. A complete waste of time, a skewer.
36:18Keyzie:Well, I tell you what, that's a lie. The amount of skewers I see you eat in the studio.
36:24Jase:100 % because that's how it's sold, but if I had the choice, the skewer wouldn't exist. Oh, really? Well, because they give you the skewer, but they put the skewer in a container. Well, why have we got the skewer? Just put it in the container. You know what I'm saying? Kebabs on the barbie are nice. Just chicken kebabs with your sati on them. You don't like them. You don't like kebabs. I like eating them, but as I say, I don't think you need the stick. The stick, right. I think it's unnecessary. Just ask my wife what we're having for dinner.
36:48Keyzie:No, I have. Yes, I'm intrigued. I love finding out what you're having for dinner, Kesey. Do you? That's weird. Yeah. We're having pasta, vegetarian. Oh, that is a shocking combo right off the bat. What kind of sauce? Is it white or red? Red. Yeah. It's kind of a pale orange. I've just been sent a photo because my wife's got squash tonight, so she's started eating. Put some cream in that bastard, has she? She said, not mind-blowing, but okay. Oh, that's gutting.
37:20Jase:Disappointing. Are you gutted about that? A little bit. Are you going to buy something, a little treat for Keezy on the way home? Yeah, I would, man. A bit of Ree burger, maybe. That's actually a really good idea. Yeah, especially because she's out, so she won't know. She won't know, man. I can just start hiding stuff from her. I reckon that's a good path to go down.
37:34Keyzie:I mean, hearing your meal, I'm disappointed. You know what I mean? It's kind of bummed me out. I want to hear about your meal, though, New Zealand. Give us a text on 3483, and you can win yourself a$50 Reburger voucher. Is this Dragon? The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Guns. Rose is there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening, but right now it's time for... Oh, yeah, hey, guys. Text here from Steve. What's on the dinner? With me, Casey. That's right, what's on the dinner in New Zealand where you text through on 3483 what you are having on the dinner which means for dinner and then you can win a$50 Reburger voucher.
38:24I'm going to read some of them out as well which is fun. Do it man Here we go. Okay I feel like there's so much pressure now. Man, I love this
38:31Jase:every week. It's better be good G'day guys Mitchell here Wow, Mitchell Santner Mitchell Santner. Black cap. All rounder? Yeah, he's an all rounder. He bowls a bit of spin. At a stretch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whoa. And captain. And captain. What, you got like a bit of a tune towards Mitch Santner, Jase? Not really, Kesey. Okay. Probably chicken nuggets because I can't be arsed cooking anything. Nuggies. The misso will be fuming, but the kid will think it's a treat. Might give a bottle of wine a seeing-to for dessert. Cheers, Mitch Santner. Yeah, that's the one.
39:12Keyzie:You know, I don't mind a nuggy. I love a nuggy. I absolutely love nuggets. You know, it's the sort of thing I imagine Keezy eating on his bachelor nights. Just a bowl of nuggies. Yeah. When I was a kid, there's a reason why I like frozen McCain's ham and pineapple pizzas. Yeah. Because when I was a kid, my mum would leave us at home, and if we had to make our own dinners, it'd be like, there's some chicken nuggets there. and some frozen mini pizzas or lasagna toppers. How would you prep your nuggets? Just bake them in an oven tray. To be honest, now I'd probably air fry them. Yeah, definitely the air fryer.
39:50But I haven't cooked a nugget in a long time.
39:53Keyzie:Because you can fry them, of course. You can deep fry them if they're being really...
39:56Jase:That's a tricky thing at home, isn't it? Yeah, deep fry. I don't even deep fry.
40:00Keyzie:No, I've got an air fryer, though, so yeah. Yeah. Bit of sauce. Yeah, bit of sauce be good. G'day, fellas. Ashley here. Kutcher? Ashley Kutcher. Who the hell is Ashley Kutcher? I don't know, man. Rick Ashley. It's Rick Ashley. Oh, Rick Ashley. Good evening, fellas. Rick Ashley here. Is there an Ashley Bloomfield? No, it's Rick Ashley. Good evening, fellas. Rick Ashley here. Making pizza for my two-year-old, breast milk for my newborn, and cheesy gnocchi for me and the husband. Hurry up. Cheers. That sounds delicious. The gnocchi.
40:41Jase:It's a real split, isn't it? Yeah. What? Cheesy gnocchi. You hate a gnocchi, don't you?
40:49Keyzie:Yes, I'm not a fan of a gnocchi, but I'm convinced it's because I haven't had a good one. It's a bit doughy.
40:55Jase:What about a buzzy milk?
40:58Keyzie:Fond of. Yeah. When you say you haven't had a good gnocchi, who's been making them for you? Restaurants. Oh, right, okay. You've never had a good gnocchi from a restaurant? No, I just find them a bit gluggy. Yeah, I know what you mean, man. I know. I hear you, actually. I love gnocchi. My wife loves a gnocchi. I'm not a big fan.
41:16Jase:So you've had one where she's been having it. She's been like, bloody hell, this is a delicious bastard. This one? Yes. And then you have a bite and you're like, eh, gluggy. Yes. Right. Exactly. But that's what Jase does whenever anyone gives him anything. Yeah, it's true. I didn't do that when you gave me chips today. No, you just stuff them and you double-fisted the bag. and put them away. G'day, fellas. This is a good one. Darren. Sorry, what? Darren. Darren. Darren here. Oh, yeah, I know him. Fried white whale loins. Bit of cracked pepper, bit of lemon zest goes down a treat. Bloody beautiful.
41:56Keyzie:Tell you, a nice cut of whale is beautiful. You've eaten whale? Yes. Yeah, man, whale's good. Especially your white whale. Sperm whale? Never had a sperm whale. Humpback? No, just white whale. One last one here. This is from Lee. It's from Lee. Harvey Oswald? It's from Lee Harvey Oswald. Who shot JFK? Allegedly. Allegedly. From the book depository on the corner. I watched a doco on it. Blue cod, eggs, hash browns here. Cheers, Lee Harvey Oswald. Wow.
42:34Jase:Say that again, blue cod, hash browns and egg. Correct. That's a fairly common sort of a, it's an American sort of a thing. Yes. You fish your egg and that.
42:44Keyzie:It's like the English with their mushy peas. Yeah, Jase. And their fries. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. Blink-182 there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Now, fellas, Diamond on Richmond, and they've given us an$8 ,000 engagement ring to give away. And we want to hear your stories, New Zealand. Why haven't you proposed? What's holding you back? Thank you. Because this is a great opportunity, particularly if you're short of cash. You really want to impress your loved one. This could be perfect for you. Do you think your loved one might be, I don't know, not put off, but a bit soured by the fact that you won the engagement ring?
43:29Jase:That's a really good litmus test, so you know whether to kick him to the curb. Yeah. You know what I mean? Because it's like, yeah, no, I didn't save up and spend our money. Instead, I won it, and now we've got that money to spend on like a honeymoon or something. Exactly, yeah. Hauraki.co.nz. They have to be a real piece of work, Keezy, to not be happy about that. Yeah, yeah. Tell you what. Hauraki.co.nz, get yourself in the drawer there. Tell us about your situation. Or maybe you've got friends who are taking their sweet time to get engaged as well. And we've got an$8 ,000 engagement ring, as we mentioned.
44:00A few stories here. fellas, mate, I've been bloody lazy and she's losing hope. At this point, I may as well get a lolly ring and call it a day. Any help, fellas, that would be appreciated. Well, we can't help outside of you winning. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're not going to just give it to you.
44:14Keyzie:I remember actually on that front, my wife saying to me, Rie, rings, I don't care what the ring is. You know what I mean? It can be anything. Yeah, that's what I say, eh? As long as we're together was what she said to me. Did she say that after you'd given her a bad ring? No, I hadn't given her a ring at all at that stage. For her, it wasn't about the ring. But then when we did get it, she needed 18 diamonds, one for every kid that we had. Yeah, true. Another one here. My mate needs a nudge because he's too tight to buy a ring.
44:44Jase:Yeah. So that's another issue, isn't it? If you're too tight, if you're too frugal to actually buy an engagement ring. Yeah, well, does she then want to be married to someone who's that tight and frugal? Yeah. You don't want to be someone who's a spendthrift, a miser, Kesey. Is that what miser means? Yes. All right. We've been together nearly a decade, so he needs a couple of nudges, to be honest. Now, they're referring to nudge pads, special hodaki knee pads we can send. So we can send him a nudge pad, just give him a nudge there and say, hey, it's time to drop the knee, and then he's automatically in the draw to win that eight grand ring as well.
45:19Yeah. Maybe we do that. Yeah, sounds good, man. Get involved, New Zealand. Hodaki.co.nz. Thanks to Diamonds on Richmond. every single engagement ring bought from Diamonds on Richmond this October. If you told them Hauraki sent you, you get a free pair of diamond earrings. How good! Yeah! The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
45:42Keyzie:Talking heads here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Fellas, do we have time for a bit of bed chat? Yeah, man, absolutely. Get into it. Could you play the bed chat sting, Keezy? Oh, yeah, here it is here. Bed chat. With the fellas. With the fellas. Bed chat. I just want to make the point. This isn't sex chat. Oh, no, this is bed chat. Yeah, bed chat. But I like it. I like it, Keezy. Yeah. I'm just wondering, fellas, what your bed set up is at the moment. We made a very big call in our household last night. where we took off the heavy duvet colour because my wife's been getting a little hot in bed lately.
46:35Keyzie:And she was like, and I said, shall we take the big, because we've got like a big heavy duvet. What would you call it, a quilt?
46:42Jase:Don't know. Duvet? Has it got an inner and then a cover on it, like a duvet?
46:48Keyzie:It's like a duvet. Yeah. You've got your duvet and then you've got a quilt on top of it and it's like a heavy...
46:54Jase:So it's a separate thing.
46:55Keyzie:It's a separate thing. It's like a quilty blanket.
46:58Jase:Sounds like a blanket. Have you got a knitted quilt on your bed?
47:01Keyzie:It's not knitted. It's not woolly.
47:03Jase:Is it crocheted?
47:04Keyzie:It's not crocheted. Have you got a valance? It's very soft. It's just very heavy. Okay, big blanket, sounds like. You're taking the blanket off. And so we've taken it off.
47:14Jase:Yeah.
47:15Keyzie:And I was a little nipply last night. I didn't have a great sleep. I don't want to cross over into sleep chat here. But I feel like I was a bit pre-ejaculative on that front.
47:24Jase:Can I tell you, Jase, that we've gone through a similar thing at the moment and what is happening in my household, excuse me, that was so unprofessional. We're used to it. Is that my wife runs a bit hot as well. Yes. But I run cool, particularly around about 3am. Yes. When I find myself getting quite cool. So what's happening is she's moving the duvet off at some point in the night because she's too hot, but dumping it on top of me. So it means I'm double duveted. It's too hot. So now I have to pull the whole duvet off the bed so three-quarters of it is on the floor and then the rest of it is on me.
48:01Jase:And then she's only got some of the blanket. You know what I mean? Yeah, I hear what you're saying. So I run colder, so I still need the blanket. I think it's too soon. I think we're going to have another cold snap.
48:09Keyzie:Now, Kesey, your wife's very hot. What do you mean by that? Oh, for God's sake. I mean, what can you? Well, it's just that it's not the first time, Mogi. It won't be the last. He made a pass at my wife.
48:22Jase:He hasn't made a pass. Pass. Carry on. Sorry, what do you mean? He's complimenting you. Would you rather have a wife, Keezy, that Jase didn't say constantly how beautiful she was and how attractive she was? Would you, Keezy? Would you prefer that? 100 % I would, yeah. Okay. Okay. Are you going to do that? Yeah, I am. So you're not going to say how attractive my wife is from now on? No, that would require you to have an unattractive wife. Oh. So that's the trade-off. I'll just keep it between her and me.
48:57Keyzie:What were you even asking me, man? What are you running in your bed, Keezy? My wife runs hot.
49:04Jase:Yes. Same thing. There's a common denominator here. I run cold. Same. And so she wanted to take the blanket off yesterday. No, sorry, the day before. Wow. So not last night, the night before. I had a shocking sleep. Oh, God. Because it was too cold.
49:20Keyzie:Did your asthma flare up a little bit?
49:23Jase:How good is this bed, by the way? It's so good. No, it didn't. Yeah, it's a tricky one there, Keezy. Is it? Yeah, well, it is. So what are we going to do? But it is warming up because spring, of course, starts on October 17th. The big show is big spring. On the day we leave. That's right. Ironically. Why don't we? All our wives run red hot. Hot. Why don't we just put them all in one giant bed? That's a good idea. And then us three can cosy up. And then we'll cosy up in another bed with heaps of blankets. And vape up a storm. And Jase's quilted duvet on it.
49:58Keyzie:I don't vape in bed much. Yes, you do. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
50:15Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big show done and dusted for your Tuesday night. Three more sleeps, fellas. Wow. Three more sleeps. Slowly, slowly we're getting there. Now, in the podcast outro today, I don't know, what's the clip we're going to play, Kesey? Someone screened your call, Jase. Oh, that's right, yes. And decided not to pick up.
50:36Jase:When someone calls you from a number not in your contacts, the phone can automatically answer on your behalf and prompts the caller to state their name and the reason for calling. The spoken response then gets transcribed live and shows up on your screen, and based on that, you decide whether or not you want to talk to the person or not, or ignore it. Did you say your name? Yes, I did, yeah.
50:54Keyzie:And they said, nah, we're not going to talk to you. Yeah, it was a new experience on the phone for old Hoody J today. I've never had that before.
51:03Jase:What a time to be alive. I reckon technology, eh, fjellows? Well, it is a new piece of technology that I am not aware of. I did not know that that existed. Never did I till today. It's probably going to creep in more and more. Yes. Yeah.
51:16Keyzie:It's hard not to take it personally. Mogi, early night you were saying for you, even though your wife's being a weapon at home.
51:22Jase:Nah, she's got another couple of people coming over for dinner tonight. So my plan is to go in, oh, g'day fellas, how's it going, sneak off to the bathroom and then sneak out of there into the bed and then just watch some tally on the laptop. Yeah, nice. And then the wife will come in and go, what are you telling? We've got guests. I'm like, not my guess, your guess. Nice. Your guess. Yeah, good shit. Make sure you snap back as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm a little bit toey because I'm a bit hungover after last night's palaver, you see. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm in a river bloody bed. Tell her to shut the door on her way out.
51:54Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shock it, bastard.
51:56Keyzie:Hey, Keezy, what are you up to tonight? Oh, your wife's away doing some sporty thing. So it's going to be creamy. There's a lot about my wife, doesn't he? It does, doesn't he? Creamy pasta for old Keezy. Well, that sounds gross the way you've said that, like some sort of disgusting euphemism. And isn't it saucy?
52:11Jase:Isn't it tomatoey? It is. Actually, I'm going to go home and eat the tomatoey saucy pasta my wife made. And it's vegetarian, too. It is. But you don't need meat to enjoy a meal, Jase. Even though 99.99 % of the time, I do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'll be eating that, playing PlayStation, and then my wife will get home at like 8.30. Probably late. Probably 9, actually. We don't know. Yeah, yeah. What about you, Jase?
52:35Keyzie:Oh, I'll probably go home, do a bit of a workout.
52:38Jase:I forgot I used to do this I forgot about this The litany of lies And then have dinner Make love Write some poems And then maybe
52:46Keyzie:Maybe go to the gym
52:48Jase:Go do some beach sprints On that note You asked a poem this week So just your reminder Yes
52:54Keyzie:One that's reasonable
52:57Jase:Do you want to farewell the audience So we can go Not really
