0:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger.

0:09Keyzie:Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show. Really big. With Jason Hoyte, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, g'day you mad boss. It's great to have your company on this glorious Monday afternoon. It is the 17th of August, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger.

0:31Mike Minogue:Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Reburger. Just on Reburger 2, fellas. Big congratulations. They've just opened their 40th store. Reburger Avondale. Great stuff. Huge achievement. Right up opposite the KFC on Wingate Street.

0:49Keyzie:Oh, I know the place. Why are you talking about KFC, man? Come on.

0:52Mike Minogue:No, no, it's just opposite there.

0:54Keyzie:Oh. Hey, Mogey, you stallion, how's life? You're getting pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. Man, I am refreshed. Excellent. Hell of a holiday. You know, no beers, just fun, high-quality family tie. Wholesome. Time, and now I'm back in the saddle with you, Backbones. How good is that? How are you going, Keezy? Thanks for holding down the fort for us last week.

1:18Mike Minogue:No dramas, man. It was me and Pugs. Yeah. The future. Yeah, totally. And we were locked in, man. Yeah, totally. You know, we had all this fresh content. I bet you did. Because it looked like you were just doing a throbber every single day, then playing highlights packages of old Hoity J and Mogi. Yeah, and then just talking about you guys as well. Yeah, yeah, cool. So we've got our own show. We've got our own flavour. That's sustainable for about a week, and then it kind of gets old.

1:41Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:42Mike Minogue:What about you, Jase? You look great, man. How was your holiday?

1:44Keyzie:It was great, thanks, Keezy. Thanks for asking like Mogi. Very refreshing. And you know, fellas, it's good to just step back and just look at your life and have a bit of a time out. Oh, God. But yeah, like Moggy, thanks Keezy for standing in for the fellas. And you too, Pugs-san. Great work. But hey, you know what I'm really excited about? The GOAT.

2:12Mike Minogue:This is The GOAT, the countdown for real music connoisseurs. That's right, fellas. Up next, song number 816. Of course, The GOAT countdown continues. Every single hour we have got$100 cash to give away. So listen out for that cue to call when you hear it. Yes. Oh, 800 Hauraki.

2:29Keyzie:Oh, I am fizzing for this, man. Shall we just get into it? Can we? Can we, 816? You're listening to The Goat, the greatest of all time countdown on Radio Hauraki. Number 816, Pussifer, the mission.

2:42Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.

2:46Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Motley Crue, kickstart my heart, coming in there at 815 on the Goat countdown.

2:52Mike Minogue:Fielos. That's right, Fielos. It's 1989, Dr. Feelgood, the album from Motley Crue. I thought you were going to say Dr. Phil. How good would that be? Dr. Phil, man. He loved that song, Motley Crue.

3:02Keyzie:Hey, Nelson, the fellas, we've been away for the last week, well, me and Mogey have been. Can I just say, Mogey, got a beautiful snow tan going on. Thanks, man. Yeah, I went down to Queenstown there with the whanau. Bloody beautiful it is. Have you been down there before, Keezy? Where's that? Queenstown. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you simply must. No. You've got to get down there, Keseley, because it is majestic. Wow. I'm going to put it to you that way. But I don't know if you know, there's quite cold, particularly at this time of year. The locals were telling me, around about now, sort of June, July, August, September, quite cold.

3:38Yes. A lot of snow on the mountains as well. And you find that people are down there for skiing, et cetera, et cetera. What, on the snow? So I went along, and we did all sorts of different things, the skiing, all of that sort of stuff. I dominated. Well, of course. I expect nothing less from you, Moggy. And then we went up the old gondola, which is in Queenstown there. It goes really, really high. Interesting thing, they've got little goats that live on the slopes there. Yes. Which is really weird, but they're tiny. Goats? Tiny, like tiny goats, like the size of this coffee cup.

4:11Keyzie:But from the gondola? I actually think I've actually seen those, like mini goats. Yeah. They're so cute. That's sort of the size, not even the size of a rugby ball. That's not quite right. It is. It's about the size of a coffee cup. But did you go down and see it? Really, really small. Did you go down and see it in person? I saw some other ones which were bigger. Yeah, they're probably closer. But these ones were, and we were high, but these things were bloody tiny. Yeah. You know? Very cute. But anyway, got up the top there. The idea was that we're just going to go and have a look at the view, but then the decision was made that we could jump on the luge.

4:47the luge and the luge is these sort of little wagons little trolleys that you ride on you go all the way down the hill and the trick is what you do is you queue up for about half an hour and then you get on another gondola and that takes you further up and at the top of that gondola is where you queue for 45 minutes and you queue there and then they tell you how to use this little trolley thing and then you go down, that takes about a minute to get down on those and then at the bottom then you queue up for about 20 minutes to get up. Get back up again. To get back up again. Pretty good, but because we hadn't planned really on doing any of that stuff, I was a little bit on the underdressed side and I was absolutely freezing.

5:34Absolutely, like the weather sort of turned a bit. It was genuinely warm in the morning and then we got up there and it was absolutely freezing cold. I came down and my fingers, I was on the little trolley thing there. The luge. Yeah. And my fingers were freezing. I couldn't stare properly. And I came off and sort of went off the side of the track there. And I was trapped there. Wow. And just absolutely freezing cold. And in the end, Search and Rescue came up and got me. And I was very nearly the first person to die of exposure while doing the luge.

6:10Mike Minogue:Wow. So when you say you got trapped, you got thrown off, was the luge on top of you? Were you pinned down? I was pinned underneath the luge. And also there was a bit of camouflage, there was a bit of sawdust, and then snow started falling on top of me. And I was wearing like a really nice sort of cotton blend white sweatshirt and some white jeans. Yeah, right. Well, they weren't really jeans, they were more of a linen.

6:33Keyzie:Yeah, which is great mountain wear really, isn't it?

6:36Mike Minogue:So you just completely blended in. I completely blended in. Because people would look down and they'd be like, oh, that's just a snowman, don't worry about it. And then the first time it got to me was a St. Bernard. Yes. And it had one of those little kegs of brandy around it. Oh, how good. Wow. So by the time Search and Rescue the guys got there, I was really drunk and quite, you know. Incoherent? Oh, fighty. Oh, fighty. So it was a good holiday, though? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's all right. What did you get up to, Jase?

7:10Keyzie:The Goat, it's music's ultimate scoreboard on Radio Hauraki. 814. Refreshments. Banditos.

7:21Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown.

7:31Keyzie:When being a music connoisseur pays off. Sure does. $100 every hour, every day. How good, fellas. And, GZ, you're loving the variety of music we're listening to at the moment. I'm loving it.

7:45Mike Minogue:I'm loving it too, Jase. Good to see racing, making an appearance in there in Silver. Great band racing. Yeah, they are a very good band.

7:52Keyzie:Very good band. Now, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Joss, you mad bastard. How's life?

7:58Mike Minogue:Yeah, g'day, fellas.

8:00Keyzie:Long time listener.

8:01Mike Minogue:Finally got on the phone to you guys. How are you guys doing?

8:04Keyzie:Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good, good. We'll ask the questions around here, man. Tell me, Joss, what do you do for a crust, mate?

8:11Mike Minogue:Good question, Jase. Oh, a dirty old landscaper, mate. Oh, yeah, backbun.

8:16Keyzie:Yeah, massive backbun. And tell me, did you vote for a goat in this countdown here, Joss? Oh, yeah, ACDC Thunderstruck. Oh, yeah, nice, mate. Absolute classic. Nice. That'll come in around about 400, 500.

8:31Mike Minogue:You reckon? Nah, it'll be in the top 100, surely. And if you won the prize, Joss, who would you take with you? Probably my brother. Yeah, nice, cool. So you're going to split$100 cash with your brother. Well done, mate. Good for you. It's all yours, Joss,$100. Get it in you, mate.

8:48Keyzie:Yeah, cheers, boys. Get on you, mate. Handy bones. How good. Handy bones.

8:52Mike Minogue:You too, Joss. You hold the line, mate.

8:54Keyzie:What a lovely fella he was. Tell you what,$100, that's a good dollop of cash. That's a huge dollop of cash. I mean, that is a wedge.

9:05Mike Minogue:What would you do if I gave you$100 right now, Jase? What would you do with it?

9:08Keyzie:I would go home to my wife and we'd have a chat. You've got to divorce her. And say, I'm rich as now. You need to get your stuff in order and I'm... Pack it up and ship it out. Yeah, and I'm going overseas.

Read the full transcript

9:24Mike Minogue:So if I gave you$100, you'd divorce your wife and move overseas?

9:28Keyzie:Yeah, totally, man. Why not?

9:30Mike Minogue:Another chance to win$100 next hour. Also, coming up next, fellas, the Waz absolutely toweled up the Brisbane Broncos. What a match. We have to have a chat with old Charlie Gubb about it.

9:40Keyzie:Sounds good.

9:40Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

9:46Keyzie:812 there on the goat countdown. Rhinoceros by Smashing Pumpkins. Now, fellas, it's all very well and good going away for a little break, but I always miss the chat we're about to have. I think I miss it the most of any of the chat we do on this show, and that's Wukbalooke. With that in mind, we've got Rugby League Legion, the one, the only, Charlie Gubb on the line. Charlie, you mad bastard, how's life?

10:10Mike Minogue:Life's good, you big, hard bastard. It's sad to miss Mogu, but I'm excited to see you take the reins tonight. Let's show me what you got. Oh, big dog. Here he is. A hell of a game over the weekend, Charlie. The Broncos getting absolutely flogged by the Waz there in Brisbane. I think for an aggregate score over the two games of something like 86-12 or 86-18 across two games this year. So we flogged them. How was the round at your joint, brother? Yeah, good. I was like, kind of had that 20 % thought in my head, like, maybe we're going to slip up here. You know, we did the Haka last week. We had a huge game, punished the Panthers, going to the Broncos.

10:51Mike Minogue:They got everything to play for. They've been embarrassing themselves. And they still got a good pack, you know. but we just, we did what we should have done and we pumped them. And Mogi, I thought you were away, Bryce, because on your Insta story, you showed some stuff of ice or something. Yeah, that's right, Charlie. Ice on a lake, though, not the stuff you're used to. And I got back later on this afternoon and I just, I couldn't miss this chat with your brother. I needed to talk some words. Yeah, let's get back to footy anyway. Obviously, we pumped them as we should have. It's so good to beat the Bronx.

11:25Mike Minogue:They're kind of like the hoity J of the NRL. Oh, 100%, man, yeah. Kind of good-looking, frosted tips, arrogant, overpaid, hardly turn up. I don't know. You don't have all those attributes, hoity, but you've got a few. And that's why it's so great, isn't it, Charlie, when you see the entire team from the Warriors just go to Brisbane and pump the hoity J of the NRL. It's just amazing. Yeah, yeah.

11:53Keyzie:And can I just say, I don't have frosty tips. It's just greying hair there, Gabby, particularly in my pubes. Ah, hot stuff. And also, we're going into some pretty intense detail here. We should probably touch on a couple of things. One, you know, say what you will about the fella, but Lukey Metcalf, that is a horror run of injuries. He's the glass man, isn't he? He just falls to bits.

12:16Mike Minogue:Yeah, he is, unfortunately. But sometimes when you've got those fast-twitch muscle fibres, so that's what happens. But it sucks for the Warriors. Yeah. But we've got Tamaydi Martin out. We've got Tanner Boyd out. We've got Metcalf out. Chance Nicol Klokstad, who probably would have gone into six maybe, potentially. He's suspended for two weeks. So what are we going to do? Who do you reckon we're going to put at seven this week?

12:41Keyzie:How far away is Martin?

12:44Mike Minogue:Maybe two weeks. Could be a couple of weeks. So I think maybe Luke Hansen might come in and fill that spot. but there's a little bit of chat about Jake Cleary but they feel like he's a bit underdone. Charlie, what do you say? I think he's still a young fella and personally, if he's asking for early release next year then, you know, I don't want him to... I reckon throw him to the wolves. Yeah, actually, yeah, and we'll just play our B sport pack. I reckon, Charlie, what about, you know, he's proved his versatility this year. Why don't we just put Lekka Halasima in the halves? Can I talk to someone that knows footy?

13:22Mike Minogue:Fair point there, Gummy Fair point I'll tell you what though, Charlie Hell of a game And out the back of that one I've now booked my flight To go over to the grand final Already had my tickets Now I've got my flight God, we'd better be in there I'll be fuming Yeah, I mean We've got to be there Otherwise we'll just scalp them off But I think we will be We're going to We want a home semi Do you reckon we're going to have it At Mount Smart or Eden Park. What's it called? It's got to be Mount Smart. It has to be Mount Smart, yeah.

13:50Keyzie:Yeah, it's got to be Mount Smart. I mean, I'd prefer Eden Park. I mean, it's obviously a bastion.

13:55Mike Minogue:Yeah, a bastion.

13:56Keyzie:You know, and all that sort of stuff. And, you know, I'm going to be honest with you, Gubby, I'm not a big fan of Mount Smart. She's a bastard to get in and out of. And some of the people there are pretty rough and they've given me a really hard time when I've shown up there in the corporate box.

14:11Mike Minogue:Oh, I'm sorry to hear about that, Hoidi. I'm sure, yeah, I don't know. I'm a bit stumbled for work. Can you jump in here, Mogi? Absolutely, man. I think what Jase is trying to say is he didn't watch the game over the weekend. He's got no idea what he's talking about. He won't be there for the final year. Excuse me. Hey, Charlie, before we let you go, mate, could you please give us your Portaking player of the round? I'm going to go Leke Halasima. You called it. He's done everything. And can we all maybe get a prediction on who we think is going to play in the halves this week? Yeah. I'm going to go.

14:47I think Luke Hansen is my feeling.

14:50Keyzie:My vibe is Stacey's going to dust off the boots and jump in there, mate. Stacey Jones? Yes. Right, okay.

14:58Mike Minogue:Stacey, what do you reckon? Yeah, I think Luke Hansen and Chanel Harris-DeVita, mate. Okay, I'm going to go Aaron Clark. Oh, nice. I love that. That would be amazing. He's probably lost a bit of pace now that he's put on 50 kilos of muscle in the last two years. Yeah, that's true. Hey, Charlie, thank you so much for joining us, mate. We'll have a chat to you next week after we towel up the rabbit-o's, hopefully, all right? Yep, that's good. And give me a call if you need a Portalu in the Wellington region. That's right. Totally, mate. Hit up Portaking. Uncle Charlie will sort you out. Thanks, Charlie.

15:29Mike Minogue:Cheers, fellas. Thanks, mate. Shall we get back to the countdown?

15:31Keyzie:Yeah, number 811, a bit of she-hard. The goat.

15:36Mike Minogue:You know, we've got the goat here. Everybody piss off.

15:38Keyzie:The countdown to real music connoisseurs on Radio Hauraki. Number 811. She had everything.

15:48Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

15:54Keyzie:Welcome back, your massive backbones. Hope your Monday's absolutely going off. You are listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Rebeer Gear.

16:03Mike Minogue:Handcrafted beer gears. Loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change the game. Yummy. And just a reminder, their 40th store, Reburger Avondale, is officially open, fellas.

16:15Keyzie:Prebs was telling us just before we came on air, fellas, he got a call from a guy that won a$50 Reburger voucher, said he absolutely loved it. He'd never had it before, so it was a real treat for him. How did he call Prebs? Because it was for the$100 Gojo, I think. Oh, I see. Yes, and he said, by the way, I won a$50 Reburger voucher. God, it's good stuff.

16:38Mike Minogue:It is delicious, eh? It's commonly known as good eating. Yeah, good eating. Good eating.

16:43Keyzie:Bloody good eating.

16:44Mike Minogue:Good eating for the ears as well, fellas. This hour, the goat continues. The greatest of all time countdown. Another chance to win$100 cash. Plus, it says here, Hoity J had a debacle while buying a coffee table. Is that right?

16:54Keyzie:Yeah, true story, man. I don't think your ears can eat, Keezy.

16:59Mike Minogue:If yours could. No, you've got tiny ears, eh, Jase? Yeah, I do have monkey ears. Yeah, sorry. I was going to make a joke there, but it doesn't work. Should we get back to the countdown? Yeah, I think so. Ready? You're on! This is The Goat, the countdown for real music connoisseurs. 809, we're up two fellas. Yeah, mate, could I just say that this one coming up here, 809 as I call it, is an absolute tune. Yeah, man.

17:31Keyzie:Number 809, Blind Melon, Tones of Home.

17:35Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Beat Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

17:41Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Guns. Roses there on the goat countdown coming in at number 808.

17:50Mike Minogue:That's right off the album, Appetite for Destruction. Perhaps you've heard of it. 1987, that sucker came in. How old were you in 1987, Jase? God, just a young fella. Right, okay, so you're older than 39 then. That's good to know. Hey, fellas, a new law has come into play recently, which sort of has upped the power of the citizen's arrest. Have you ever heard of the citizen's arrest? Yes, I have. It's where you as a citizen can make an arrest. Jase invented that. Jase invented the citizen's arrest.

18:20Keyzie:I was just sick and tired of the crimes on the street. Really? Yeah.

18:26Mike Minogue:So I'm just reading here, When a person finds someone committing or believes on unreasonable and probable grounds that someone has committed an offence under the Crimes Act, including offences such as theft, assault and burglary.

18:39Keyzie:It can be for anything. Yeah, it can. Mate, the amount of drugs that I've confiscated since I've been in the CBD.

18:47Mike Minogue:Right, so you confiscate the drugs. Do you arrest the citizen?

18:49Keyzie:Oh, look, I give them a warning.

18:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, verbal warning.

18:52Keyzie:A verbal warning, a first warning. Give me the stuff. don't let me see this happen again.

18:58Mike Minogue:And that you dispose of it.

18:59Keyzie:Yes, I dispose of it.

19:02Mike Minogue:How do you do that? Very well. That's the thing, right? It's so tough to, you know, you'd have to be pretty damn certain witness a crime. No, you don't. Oh, really? It's very vibe-based, Casey. A citizen's arrest because the thing about it is, you know, that other person you're arresting is also a citizen. Yes. And so really, you've got to goddamn check even arresting them in the first place. So if you go up to somebody and you decide that they're under arrest, you can be as vague about things as you want. Really what you need to have is some kind of physical presence that's going to mean that you're able to make the arrest because if the other person doesn't want to be arrested, you'll find that they'll put up a pretty good fight.

19:47Yeah, totally. Would you be comfortable making a citizen's arrest, Casey, for example? Well, it depends what they had done.

19:53Mike Minogue:I mean, no one would take you seriously, but I mean, I hear what you're saying.

19:56Keyzie:It depends.

19:57Mike Minogue:If they had assaulted. Yes. Let's say I was walking in town with Jase. Yeah. And someone comes over and just smacks Jase over and starts beating the crap out of him. But there's all sorts of different kinds of assault now, though, isn't there? There's social media. There's your online bullying. And then takes a photo of him. Exactly. And puts it online. Well, how about this? For example, let's say Jase is out. He's giving himself a bar in me. Yeah. He's making himself an order. A guy comes over to him, asks him what he's having. Jay says I'm having a lemongrass and chicken barred me. The guy looks Jay Stead in the eyes and says, You're a loser.

20:25Mike Minogue:Idiot. Idiot, yeah. And then smacks him over.

20:28Keyzie:Can I just say, though, Mogi's got it right. Mogi has got it right in the sense of it's a vibe thing. For me, can I be so bold as to say, Mogi, a gut instinct for me? I've only ever got it wrong on the old gut instinct, and that was because I'd had a hot pot the night before.

20:43Mike Minogue:Oh, so it's physically.

20:44Keyzie:So that was my bowels that were telling me that. It was a miscommunication. Yeah, right. I was misleading. It was a misunderstanding. Sorry, I had hot pot last night.

20:54Mike Minogue:Because are you allowed to have handcuffs with you? Oh, yeah, you have to. Totally. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you could just cuff someone. You could book them. Taser, maze. Yes. Yeah, whatever you like. Whatever you like. If you read that article, Keezy, you'll see that in there. You know, you can do whatever you want now, which is good, and it's legal. You can do whatever you want now, and it's legal. Totally. I mean, read the article. Citizens' arrest now allowed. But I think the only thing that sort of limits it is the time of day that it's allowed to happen. and it's between the hours of such and such.

21:20Mike Minogue:Oh, okay. Is it like 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. or something? Something like that, yeah. But you can have any mad bastard coming up to you and tapping you on the shoulder now and telling you to go with them. Well, no, that used to be the rule. It used to be between 9 and 6, and now it's all day, every day, 24-7, citizens' arrests. Well, I thought it could be quite fun if we tried to do an improv of one of us trying to citizens' arrest someone else.

21:41Keyzie:There's nothing fun about it, Keezy. It's a very serious business. Very serious. Totally.

21:44Mike Minogue:I mean, fun listen for the listeners. we'll be very serious about it. We can do that next, fellas. I'll be prepared to do it if it was informative. I'm not interested in doing anything that's fun for the listeners. Speaking of, shall we get back to the goat?

21:59Keyzie:The goat. Proof that Hauraki listeners have excellent taste. Number 807. Moby Natural Blues.

22:07Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

22:13Keyzie:Yes, indeed. Coming in at number 806. just breathe by Pearl Jam fellas. But right now it's time for... Quiet on set. Sound speed. Lights. Camera. Action.

22:25Mike Minogue:Now it's time for the Big Show Improv. That's right. They've changed the rules around citizens' arrests in New Zealand. They can be made now when a person finds someone committing or believes on the probable grounds that someone has committed a crime such as theft, assault or burglary. That's the key point there. Believes. Believes Feels Yeah so with that in mind We've decided to just sort of rehearse How it might work If I was to make a citizen's I assume I'm playing the guy Doing the citizen Sure

22:54Keyzie:You'd be the sort of guy That would Try to arrest someone Yeah yeah Yeah for sure How's that supposed to mean Well nothing

23:01Mike Minogue:Who wants to be arrested I don't mind I mean Yeah I mean I can be arrested Oh no Jase you get arrested Yeah I can't be arrested Why not man Okay and I own a shop right So we need to decide What kind of shop it is

23:14Keyzie:Adult shop

23:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, sex shop. Okay. So I run an adult's shop. Does it have a name? Keezy Shocking Bastard. Keezy Shocking Bastard. R.R.S. How about the Keezy Dilly Barn? The Keezy Dilly Barn. Yeah. All right. That's good. Okay. And I'm working there and I busted you. And you're in there sniffing around, Jason. I was just sort of... And I've busted you, right? Well, I think you're shoplifting, all right? Sure, man. Okay, all right. Who's saying action? Oh, action. Thank you.

23:51Keyzie:Thank you.

23:53Mike Minogue:Jesus. Hello, welcome to Keezy's Dilly Barn. Do you need help with anything, sir?

24:03Keyzie:No, I'm totally in control. Thanks, mate. Actually, you just stand a little bit further away. It'll be good. Sorry, man. Sorry. Close there.

24:12Mike Minogue:Yeah, it's my bad. my death possession is off slightly. Hey, that bag you've got there. Yes. Would you mind if I just inspected what was inside? Yes. I can. No, I'd mind. You'd mind? Yes. So I can't? No. It's just that when it came in, it looked empty, and now it's fit to bulge in.

24:35Mike Minogue:So I'm worried that you've just grabbed something off the shelf, and you've put it in there.

24:39Keyzie:And it's bulge in.

24:40Mike Minogue:And now it's fit to bulge in. so if I could just inspect that just because I'm worried that you are shoplifting

24:45Keyzie:Sure, go for it

24:50Mike Minogue:You are shoplifting Were you going to pay for these?

24:53Keyzie:Well I was going to bring them up to the counter

24:56Mike Minogue:Seriously, have you heard about the new rule I can now make a citizen's arrest and using the power given to me by the New Zealand government What's going on here? God knows mate, this guy's just lost his plot Hang on mate, I place you under arrest on suspicion of shoplifting at Keezy's Dilly Barn. Sorry, so he's now under citizen's arrest. What's happening here? Oh, I don't know. He's banging on about something. Well, he and I have been together for decades. He's never stolen a thing in his life. Thank you. So you take your hands off him. Yeah, thank you. And pull your pants up. Well, no, my pants are up.

25:31Keyzie:That's what's throwing me off. What do you think of that, by the way? It's a good one, isn't it? Lovely. Sorry, hang on.

25:35Mike Minogue:So you guys are like some sort of duo, crime duo. Well, we're partners. Your partners? So I'm going to have to put you under a citizen's arrest. Why? Now, because this is a false arrest. False arrest and falsely imprisoning him. Oh, I'm not imprisoning. He has to stay here, though. You're under arrest. You can't put me under arrest. I've got a sheriff's badge here you can have a look at. See? Why do you keep it in there? There you go.

26:04Keyzie:Oh, my God. I mean, it's a little bit rusty, but it's the real deal. And just...

26:09Mike Minogue:Where did you get that?

26:10Keyzie:Just to really make your day, mate. I might actually undercover. Oh, undercover cop. Yeah, well, no, an undercover citizen's arrest. Yeah, undercover citizen. He's an undercover citizen, so am I. So you're in real trouble now.

26:22Mike Minogue:And scene. So what happened there? So I tried to make an arrest. You tried to arrest him. That was a false arrest. Right, okay. Because he hadn't stolen anything. You hadn't given him a chance to go up to the counter. He's allowed to put things into a bag and then take them out to a counter and buy them. You've arrested them already. Right, okay. It's only theft if he leaves the premises. And then he arrested me.

26:43Keyzie:And then he got his Rusty Sheriff badge out. Yeah, I'll never forget that. What kind of an operation are you running here at Keezy's Dilly Wear?

26:52Mike Minogue:Keezy's Dilly Barn, Mogi. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown.

27:03Keyzie:Music so good, we should charge you Instead, we're paying you Bloody Oats, fellas Every hour, every day The GOAT Countdown And your chance to win$100 cash How good, eh? How good We love giving away money on the big show, don't we, fellas? Cash and prizes, baby That's us That's what we're all about Changing lives

27:28Mike Minogue:Last hour, Jase I asked you what you'd do with$100 You said you'd go home tell your wife to pack her bags and then divorce her, quit the show and move overseas Yes. Mike what would you do? Oh great question, great question Well I wouldn't go to that extent Yeah. I'd probably just disappear for a few days on one hell of a bender I'd hide my phone turn it off actually so I was untraceable and then I'd just turn up sort of a shadow of my former self and beg for forgiveness

27:59Keyzie:Not from you obviously Kesey, just from my wife and holly J. Yeah yeah That's understandable, man. Yeah, I'd be all good with it. And Kesey, I never said that about... I love my wife, man. Can we not just put this scurrilous stuff out there? Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Blake, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, bloody good. Pretty jizz. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Tell me, Blake, what do you do for a crust, mate?

28:26Mike Minogue:I'm a nuclear physicist. Oh, wow.

28:29Keyzie:Okay.

28:31Mike Minogue:Whereabouts are you based, man? Ah, Christchurch. Yeah, what's the name of the company, man? Yeah, nah, I'm a builder. That's good, man. My worry about you, Blake, is that if you and I were mates and anything happened, if there was a citizen's arrest, you would fold under questioning pretty quick. Nah.

28:55Keyzie:Tell me, Blake, if we were to give you this$100, what would you do with it? Wow. Oh, come on, let's be honest. Drop to Vegas? Drop to Vegas? Yeah. That's a one. Yeah, good one. That's a one, mate. New house. Well, that$100 is all yours, mate. Enjoy.

29:11Mike Minogue:Yeah, good. See it as a postcard from Vegas, would you? Have fun in Vegas, Blake. You hold the line, old Pugson will sort you out, all right? Yeah, cheers, fellas. No worries, mate. Cheers,

29:25mate.

29:26Mike Minogue:That's annoying. If I won the$100, fellas, thanks for asking. The$100? Yeah. I'd probably go on a small holiday or something, but then probably put most of it in savings. Oh, yeah. Where would you go? Nowhere major. Yeah. Maybe just over to Fiji for a couple of weeks.

29:47Keyzie:Yeah, Club Mediterranean.

29:49Mike Minogue:Yeah.

29:49Keyzie:But when you say you'd put it into your savings, I mean, you've got so many accounts. It'd be like$2.50 in each account.

29:55Mike Minogue:$3.50, yeah. Oh,$3.50. We've got it all worked out. It would last ages. So yeah, huge opportunity 100 bucks cash up for grabs That's it done for today though fellas I guess we'll be back tomorrow It only happens with the goats on Which is back tomorrow morning at 8am sharp Speaking of which, still got a few more songs from the goat to get through today Should we crack into the next one?

30:15Keyzie:Yes I think so, number 803 The goat on Radio Hauraki Number 803 U2, Lemon

30:24Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show With Jace, Mike and Kesey Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hola.

30:30Keyzie:Big Cush. You two there. Coming in at number 803. What's your favourite song about citrus, Keezy?

30:38Mike Minogue:Is it Lemon? Probably Dope Lemon. Oh, yeah, Dope Lemon. That's more of an artist. Blind Melon's another one, I guess, you could go with. Orange Ruffy. That's another goodie. Banana Rama. Yeah, it's not a citrus fruit. That's just a normal fruit. Oh, yeah, true. That's my bad. Yeah. Hey, fellas. Well, just quickly. What about Watermelon High by old Harry Styles there? Sugar, yeah. Isn't it interesting? That song from U2, I've never heard it before, but because of the countdown, because people are literally voting for these songs. Yes. Have you guys heard that song before? Yes, many times. It was a big song in the 90s, came off the album Zuropa.

31:16I loathe U2, of course, but that album is easily the worst.

31:21Mike Minogue:Oh, wow. Yeah, because I hated that last song. It was seven minutes. I was like, oh, my God, what is this song? But some people out there, obviously the ones that voted for, absolutely frothing it. And I know some huge U2 fans that love that song. You know, they're mad bastards. Absolutely. They're off their heads.

31:34Keyzie:They are. Now, fellas, am I correct in assuming that we're on the road this week? I think we're down to Welly, aren't we, for Beervana? No. Oh. Oh, that's okay then. That's good.

31:44Mike Minogue:Nah, we are. Oh, we are. Oh, okay. I mean, that's good too. Backbone, backbone. Yeah, so we are down in Wellington this Thursday, Jase. Wow. Which is the 20th.

31:55Keyzie:Yeah. Check my calendar there. Of August.

31:57Mike Minogue:And from 4pm, we're going to be at Bethel Woods Bar, which is in the CBD of Wellington. How good? Thanks to our mates at Tuatara. So the show will be live 407. Really? Get there early, there's a lot of say. Come get involved. Free Backbone shirt for the first hundy through the door. That's the one, Moogie. Of course, we are down there for Bear Vana, which is on the Friday and Saturday at Henry's Stadium. If you want tickets for that, bearvana.co.nz.

32:21Keyzie:The fellas will be making an appearance in the old Bear Vana on the Friday, I believe, just flitting around the place, having a few beers. Yeah, absolutely. I'll be hitting the food stalls mostly. You remember last time, actually, Mogi, I had half a dozen oysters. I do remember that, right, about 9 o 'clock in the morning. About 9 in the morning, and I thought you backbone's going to back me up, but no, but I'm happy to suck down six oysters any time of day.

32:42Mike Minogue:You just sort of followed Pugsan around a lot the rest of the weekend. It was weird. Like a bad smell. Yeah. Hey! Bethel Woods, August the 20th, this Thursday, 4 p.m. See you there.

32:55Keyzie:Good stuff. Coming up after 6 o 'clock, by the way, a bit of meat patty nips where we give out advice. A bit of sport chat as well, fellas. It's been a bit of sport action.

33:03Mike Minogue:Certainly has, Jase. Also, the final two songs for the GOAT for today. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

33:14Keyzie:Welcome back, you're massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Monday. You are listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburg Gear.

33:21Mike Minogue:Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburg Gear.

33:27Keyzie:Hey fellas, what's on the dinner plate tonight? That's a good question from you hoity jizz. My wife was discussing having a little bit of a dumpling number this evening and asked if there was any of that soup base left over from when we did come dine with the feels. And there is, so I'm looking forward to getting home and ripping into that bad boy. Yeah, nice. Nice, nice. What about you, Keezy?

33:50Mike Minogue:We're having pasta Which is made of capsicums And tofu Blended up together with a stick blender And then put through the pasta with spinach Just like a healthier pasta Yeah, yeah, yeah Apparently, I've had it once before it was fine Bit of protein in there for you, Keezy Yeah, yeah, yeah What? Not happy with that, Jase? Are you growling it? Have you started growling? What are you having, Jase?

34:17Keyzie:Well, we're having pasta as well, Keezy. My daughter, who's been... A little bit of tofu, a little bit of tomato. Yeah, a bit of ground-up tofu and capsicum. Capsicum, yum. My daughter has been dog-sitting. And so I thought, for her homecoming, I'll make Hoity J's world-famous spag bowl, because she loves my spag bowl. It's one of those comfort foods, and I've been cooking it all day. The key to a good spag bowl, fellas, is letting it cook over a long period of time. so all the flavours can be absorbed it's good stuff half beef mince, half pork mince that's the other key could you do me a favour and bring some in here and then just as we're about to eat it just spill it all over the floor and then leave it there for three days sure man

35:02Mike Minogue:is it the best spag bol in the world 40J

35:07Keyzie:best in the world, eh number one

35:08Mike Minogue:yes it is

35:09Keyzie:I would say so yeah

35:11Mike Minogue:hey fellas, pretty exciting stuff we've got another couple of songs from the goat left we sure do You ready? You're right! 35:33Keyzie:Bloody good, Kesey. Let's go to number 802. You're listening to The Goat, the greatest of all time countdown on Radio Hodaki. 802, Incubus, Megalomaniac.

37:44Keyzie:801, The Cure, pictures of you.

37:57Keyzie:Bloody great stuff, fellas. That kicks off again 8 o 'clock tomorrow morning, I believe, Keezy.

38:01Mike Minogue:Certainly does, Jase. Along with it, another chance every single hour to win$100 cash. All you have to do is keep it locked on Hauraki. a cuticle call is going to play every hour and then you phone 0800 Hodaki and you can get that cash. That's good stuff. We must be made of money, eh? I think so, man. That's what I'm hearing, certainly. Everybody up the – I was up skiing, Keezy. And everybody was asking me if Hodaki was made of money and I said yes. Really? All you have to do is tune in. We're giving away sometimes up to$100 at a time. Yes, totally. That's life-changing cash. It is. And we're taking the piss, really, by offering that kind of money because people can't get any work done because they know.

38:38You just listen to Hodaki, you get yourself a hundred bucks.

38:40Keyzie:It's very much make or break for the station as far as I'm concerned. You know what I mean? When you're chucking that kind of cash into every hour. Yeah. Oh, yeah.

38:51Mike Minogue:It gets back underway again tomorrow morning at 8am, fellas. The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.

39:01Keyzie:It's all there on the Hodaki Big Show this Monday evening, but right now it's time for... We're off to find the brewery of the day.

39:16Mike Minogue:Today's Bear Varner Brewery of the Day is Sunshine Brewery. Straight out of Gisborne, Sunshine Brewery, we've been brewing up the goods for over 30 years. These East Coast legends keep things simple. Great beer, proper flavour in a line-up that's built for kicking back with the fellas. From their much-loved classics to fresh seasonal drops, helps Sunshine know how to deliver a quality Kiwi brew, a true local legend making seriously good beer. Catch Sunshine Brewery at Bear Vana 2026. That's this Friday and Saturday, fellas. If you'd like to get your tickets for the beer festival down in Wellington, head to bearvana.co.nz.

39:48Mike Minogue:Yeah, buddy, good stuff.

39:49Keyzie:Let's talk some sport, eh, fellas? Ah, that's a good shout. Did you want the sport music? Oh, I think so.

40:04Keyzie:So the All Black Tour of South Africa continues. Loving it. I'm loving it, by the way. Playing some provinces. A proper old school tour. Of course, this last weekend, playing the Bulls. Yes. Another very comprehensive victory for the All Blacks. 50 to 19 from recollection. Yeah. What I like about this all-black side is they seem to know what they're doing. They seem to know what the plan is. They're, attacking-wise, very, very difficult to contain. Can I put it to you this way, James? It looks like they know which way to put their jerseys on, which foot to put their boots on. They know which direction to run in when the ball gets kicked off.

40:41And I couldn't say that, really, for this team over the last three years, but, jeez, there's been some changes in the coaching.

40:46Keyzie:Oh, there has been, mate. And can I just say, Josh Jacob made his, oh, not his debut, but he played first five, was starting first five. Yeah. A 25-year-old from the Chiefs, I believe. Geez, I was impressed with him. Mogi, he looks to have the goods. He reminded me a little bit of Andrew Mertens. Oh, right. Bit of Mertz about him, actually. And if you combine him with Ruben Love, we've got two young fellas. I think Ruben Love is definitely our number one choice. Two young fellas in a very pivotal position, a very important position. I'm very excited about both of them. I understand the first test is coming up this weekend.

41:20It is this weekend, yes. 3am Sunday morning, I believe. And if it's any kind of sign, totem as to what's going to come up this weekend, you mentioned Andrew Murns there. He managed to stave off bankruptcy last week. He did. Great news there. Yeah, really good news. Now, of course, we had the test cricket happening over in Australia, the first test between Bangladesh and Australia being played over in Perth. In that first innings there, Australia bowled out for 198, and Bangladesh managed to get themselves a 228-run lead. Tanzed Hassan got himself 101. It was pretty much a case of everybody contributing a little bit.

42:01In Australia's first innings, the man of the match ended up being Hassan Mahmood, who took 6 for 55, I think, in that first inning. How fantastic. Bangladesh won by 9 wickets. That is so good. And so there's going to be a huge amount of anger. Australia don't like losing. No. Especially the losers. No. Australia ranked number one and Bangladesh ranked number nine in the world. So I think this will be a case of heads will roll.

42:27Keyzie:Yes, I think so. And, you know, the Australians may say start of the season, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But that is a great victory for Bangladesh. Yeah. And speaking of heads will roll, Israel Makachev defended his title in the UFC against, I think his name is Ian. It's kind of weird, Ian Gary Mercado or something or other. Yeah, he's an interesting fella. Irish gentleman. A huge fight. Went five rounds. It was bloody good. I'm a massive fan of Islam Akaji. Very, very funny. And probably is in contention for the greatest fighter of all time. Islam won by decision over five rounds. He's this tiny man compared to these other big fellas.

43:05He's just gone up a division, I think, to welterweight. So he looks very, very small, but a hard bastard. Yeah, wiry, nuggety.

43:12Mike Minogue:Small but vicious. Oh, precious little bastard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Reminds me of someone. Boney fists. Yeah. And Keezy, you got some NPC for us. No. My parents flew down to Canterbury to watch the Bay of Plenty Steamers, our local team, take on Canterbury for the Shield. It was a pretty close match. It was in the end. First half was crap, but my parents thoroughly enjoyed the new stadium. Well, I remember seeing, I might have been the captain of the Steamers crying. It must have been a very close game. Yeah, exactly. About three or four points, I think, in the end, Mogi. Yeah, five.

43:43Keyzie:And it's good to see a bit of passion still for the Ranfelly Shield.

43:47Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

44:04Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for you Monday. What a joy it is to be back. in the podcast outro, which is bonus material we do before the radio show. What's the clip today, Keezy?

44:15Mike Minogue:Just a reminder, Jase, it's now called The Disclaimer. Oh, The Disclaimer, yes. That's right, we've changed it. The Big Show Disclaimer podcast. Today's clip is about fishing, and it comes out at 7.30 tonight, wherever you get your potties from. Can I ask when the last time is that you caught a fish? I can't even remember. No, never, not as long as I've known you. I can't even remember. The last time he caught a fish was when we were out doing that show on that boat.

44:40Keyzie:Oh, yeah. Oh, yes.

44:41Mike Minogue:And then the rod snapped. And your reel fell in the ocean. And then your pants fell down.

44:48Keyzie:Jeez, I can't remember any of those things, Phil.

44:50Mike Minogue:Nah, all those things definitely happen. Jase, just a question. The photo on your Instagram story, is that the fish you caught?

44:58Keyzie:No. Very quickly, that was a breakfast flounder. So it was on the breakfast menu, and my mother-in-law actually ordered it and I went, you're mad. You're mad. Bloody, unbelievably delicious. Really? It was so good.

45:13Mike Minogue:I was so ready to come and apologise for making fun of your fishing. I was like, oh my God, the fishy court is massive and he prepared it beautifully.

45:20Keyzie:I did catch a fish and we did eat it though. So that's good news. Mogi, what are you doing tonight? I have to go home. I've got to finish unpacking. That's the big one. Did most of the washing while we were away. But I wouldn't mind. Feed up, a little bit of dumplings, a little bit of TV, a little bit of sleepy time. Yeah, nice, mate.

45:35Mike Minogue:Yeah, Keezy, what are you doing, man? I'm going to have that Capses' Kim Tofu pasta. Yeah, good. My wife and I will watch Outrageous Fortune, then I'll put her to bed. Yeah, right. And then I'll probably have a glass of cab sav and go online with my mates there. On a Monday? Yeah, on a Monday. One glass of cab sav. Who cares? What? What? This is out of control, man. You know what happens as soon as you open a bottle, Keezy? You know what you like. That was the noise of me. Hey, Jase, what are you doing tonight, man?

46:04Keyzie:I'm going to go home, eat some spag bol with my wharno, watch a bit of TV, turn the heater on, cuddle up. Nice. I've rearranged the lounge a little bit today.
