In short

This episode of The Hauraki Big Show is a “full show” mix of banter, listener interaction, and segments. Topic: “Using A.I. For Good,” prompted by a breaking news story about AI-generated misinformation.

Key claims

an AI-made “news” video falsely claims Crowded House frontman Neil Finn is battling erectile dysfunction, using a fake Simon Dallow interview and an ad-like “cure” angle; the band/people later deny it on Facebook. The hosts also argue radio voices can be cloned easily, predicting more “travesties,” while noting potential benefits if likeness/voice cloning is compensated (they mention Tom Hanks’ likeness deal).

Notable examples

the fake Neil Finn clip; the hosts’ own concern about audio cloning.

Guests

no external guests—only the hosts Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keezy (plus references to Simon Dallow and Neil Finn in the AI story).

Written by AI. May contain mistakes. Listen to the episode to check what was said.

0:00The Hauraki Big Show. Thanks to crave-worthy street food. Freshly made with Reburger. Welcome, this is Big, to the Hauraki Big Show.

0:12Keyzie:Really Big. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keyzie. Oh, kiai you mad bastards. It's great to have your company this murky Thursday afternoon, the 14th of August 2025. And you, my friends, are listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats. That'll change the game. Free burger.

0:36Keyzie:Dideesh.

0:39Keyzie:Handcrafted. So good, man. G'day, Mogey, you stallion.

0:44Jase:G'day, Woody Chizpot. You mad dog, you sick son of a bee. How you going, brother? Yeah, good, thank you. Man, this week is absolutely flying by. Of course, Keezy and I have just come back from a jaunt over in Europe. Yes. That's right. So good, so good. And I thought it would really drag once I got back here, but instead it's flying by. Not for me, it's not. Oh, it's dragging for you. Yeah, well, you went for your holiday about seven months ago, which is a stroke of genius. Yeah, I'm beginning to feel it now.

1:11Keyzie:I'm beginning to feel it. But, hey, all good. Europe sounds so cool, Kesey. Oh, it's awesome, Jase. Good to be here, by the way. Good to see you, fellas. I wonder if time is flying by because it's trying to fast forward until your next time in Europe, you know what I mean? Yeah, well, that makes sense.

1:25Jase:Yeah, next year, man. Me and Keezy and his missus and my missus, we're all going to Greece together.

1:31Keyzie:How good. Yeah, it's going to be great. We're going to have a picnic over there. Maybe I could latch on to you fellas too and just attach myself because I'd have the benefit of your knowledge of having already been over there

1:43Jase:and you know the places to go. I'm not there to babysit. Oh, right, okay. And also, this is sort of like an advanced level Europe trip for people who have been to Europe before. Oh, I see. I think you need to do like a... You need to go on one of those Kontiki tours. Yeah, go on a Kontiki, do some classes on it.

1:59Keyzie:I need to do a Durbrain tour first. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, make all the mistakes, get them out of my system. Yes. Sounds good, man. And then get in contact, man. Sounds good. Hey, massive, massive show ahead. Let's start off with a bit of rage. This is June, boys. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. DD Smash there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time, 12 minutes past 4 o 'clock. Just a quick alert to the audience. I am about to talk about golf, but it's not like golf chat. It's more about what happened at golf with Hoody Jase today. Mogi, you've been in the room for the last few days.

2:40Yeah. Whilst Jase has been telling me how he's been going at golf recently, right? Because he's been playing on his own while I was away. He's been an absolute weapon, apparently. He's been killing it.

2:48Jase:He's been the best golfer in the world. He's been, you know, Hoity J, A number one. A hundred percent. He has been Hoity J, A number one. I can't remember where that is on the old button bar thing here. But I found it. Here it is. Hoity J, best in the world, A number one. Genuinely, he's been like, oh, honestly, Keezy, I've been playing really well. Yeah. Like really earnest too. Like, you know, oh, that first hole, the one we really struggle with, like, you know, I've bogeyed it or better. Honestly, man, I was worried he was going to dislocate his shoulder. He was vigorously patting himself on the back.

3:19And I was stoked. I was like, that's good, man, because you want your mates to do really well. And so today I was like, I can't wait to see Jase in action. And I've even said that to him a few times. I can't wait to see the clinic on Thursday, man. Jase, you are going to show me a thing or two.

3:36Jase:Can I just say for everyone at home, Jase is shaking over at his chair. He is dying to say something. So he's been like, my putting's been really good. I've been doing this, I've been doing that. and it's been going really great. And I'm like, that's awesome. I'm stoked. And we got there today and Jase, I don't think I've ever seen him pack as big of a sad as he packed today. And I felt bad because it was his worst ever start to a round since I've known him. He started terribly, but it was because he'd been laying it on so thick with how good he is that when the time came to sort of deliver, he couldn't deliver.

4:14Jase:Shed all over himself. Yeah. And then once he dropped a lip massively and then said, you know what, I don't even care about the rest of the round. I'm just writing this whole thing off that was on hole two. He started to play better. And so it was just, I just think, Jase, you shouldn't bang on about how great you are. You know what I mean? I just think you should just. Pride comes before a fall, I think is the saying, Keezy. And I wanted you to be awesome, man, but yeah. Oh, yeah, I bet you did. At one point I was just like.

4:45Keyzie:Kesey was banging on about, oh, I can't wait for you to show me how it started. Wait. Well, I was excited. I was like, damn, man, Jason can teach me a thing or two. Yeah. I usually lose three to five balls a round, Mogi. Yeah. It's a bitch of a course for losing balls. It's surrounded by bush. I lost two balls with my first two shots today. Wow. I got maximum and maximum on the first two holes. I can show you how to do that. Yeah. Yeah, if I wanted that, I would have played with a boogie. And to my eternal credit, I turned a shockingly bad round into a very poor round. To my eternal credit. And can I just say, Keezy played brilliant, the best.

5:33Keyzie:And you'll agree with this, Keezy. I've ever seen him play for the first nine holes. Then he absolutely fell apart and he was like, oh, I think the jet lag's kicking in. And then by the end of the round, he didn't even finish the last hole. He was sulking so badly. Oh, come on, James. Tell the truth. This is putting mustard on a story. I would never do that. I would never do that. It was a shocker. But, yeah, anyway, golf chat complete. That's good stuff. Yeah, it was good stuff. Just fill you in on that. You got anything you want to put out to the audience so he can carry it on into the next?

6:10Keyzie:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a good point. Like a question? Yeah, yeah, yeah. do you have any friends that talk a lot of shit about how good they are and can't deliver? 3483. Give us a text and you can win yourself a$50 repug. Or give us a call. Or give us a call on 0800 Hauraki. Here's Queen. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Stone Temple Pilots there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. Why am I looking so hot, did you say? No. Well, for those listening. I thought you... Did you hear that, Keezy? I thought Mogey said, why am I looking so hot?

6:50Keyzie:Yeah, because you got sweating like a bastard, yeah. Jase is wearing a nice blazer, a nice dress shirt. Oh, was it you that said I'm looking hot? Nah.

6:59Jase:What's that made out of? Is that felt? Yeah, it's felt. It's felt. It's got a little bird pin on it, on the collar there. Does that get made out of your favourite pool table?

7:09Keyzie:Pugs don't love the little brooch there. Oh, that's a concern. Of course he did. Yeah, he thought it was awesome. Oh, God. Hey, now, fellas, the reason I'm looking so hot. You're all dressed up. As you said, Moggy, is that I'm going out with my in-laws for dinner tonight. So I thought I'd better make a bit of an effort. But why'd you decide against it? You know, it's really interesting because, you know, they've been my in-laws now for over 20 years. And we've gone through a bit of a sort of revolution in our relationship. It evolves. You know, obviously it started off with them thinking, there's no way this guy's good enough for my daughter.

7:45Jase:Yeah.

7:46Keyzie:I don't think that's ever changed. A bit a month later, their daughter was pregnant. And then she was pregnant. Then they hated me. They really hated me. And they've never really recovered from that. Do they like the big show? Oh, they don't listen to the big show. Occasionally they do. Occasionally, to be fair, they do. They don't like it. No. They don't get it. They're classy. Well, they are very classy. They're very sort of uber people. They hate our house because he's a very successful architect, lives in a beautiful house, comes around to my little shithole, and he's like, oh, God, just starts weeping on the couch.

8:23Keyzie:But anyway, over time, of course, and we've talked about this before when we go out for dinner, they always paid. And then we went through a bit of a revolution, which was, no, that's not acceptable. Well, now, I'm a top radio DJ and I've got dog squad money. I need to start paying for the dinners. which I've done, and I think they appreciate that. That was quite good. That was after about, what, 25 years? Yeah, it was about 25, 26 years. And when I say I pay, I mean I go, halfsies. But there's one consistent theme that we have when I'm having dinner with these particular in-laws throughout our whole time together, which is they are perpetually late.

9:00Keyzie:So there's a running... Say, for example, we said tonight we'll meet at 7.30. I can bet you 99 % with accuracy they'll be there at eight.

9:12Jase:Right.

9:12Keyzie:Half an hour late. Every single time. Wow. And I've sort of reached a point now where I'm of an age where I feel our relationship is settled enough that I can have two with them, that I give them a bit of a dressing down when they arrive. How do you feel about that?

9:28Jase:It surprises me that it's taken you this long to say something.

9:31Keyzie:It has taken me this long. Yeah, you're scared of them, eh? We always joke about, you know, God, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay, so let's just add another half hour on to where we're meant to meet. This is just between you and your wife. This is between me and my wife. And I've never quite had the courage to go, right. Now listen, you two, let's sort this out, all right? Is that how you'd approach it? I'm a punctual man. I'm a busy man. I'm a hugely successful man. And I can't be having my time wasted by the likes of you.

10:01Jase:I don't think you're going to sort out, you know, win an argument by leading off with just a series of lies. Yeah, because you're trying to have an open, honest conversation and you're immediately going the complete wrong way. Yeah, exactly. See, if I was you, what I'd do is get there at 7.30, order drinks, appetizer, mains, dessert, and just eat it as fast as you can so that when they arrive at 8, you've already eaten. And you say, that's all right. Sorry, we were tired of waiting for you guys. Yeah, dinner was at 7.30. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm sure we agreed on that.

10:32Keyzie:Actually, that's quite good, Keezy.

10:33Jase:Do that. Yeah, yeah. That'll really endear you to them for the remaining years of your relationship.

10:38Keyzie:Yeah. And actually, what I could do there is then after we've finished our meal, we order a meal for them before they arrive. So they arrive and we go, oh, we're done here, but we've ordered you some blah, blah, blah, leave without paying.

10:55Jase:That's nice. That's good, isn't it? You can hang around and kill time by taking your jacket off, putting it on a table and playing pool. Because it's felt. Because it's felt. See? And it's got six pockets, I'm guessing.

11:08Keyzie:It's only got about four. It's got four pockets. Two don't work. They're sewn up. Have you seen the interior of it? Oh, my God. It's reversible. It's got a dartboard inside.

11:22The Hauraki Big Show. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.

11:27Keyzie:Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 4.41. Totally. Wellington, if you are a listener of the Big Show in any capacity, make sure this coming Thursday, because today's Thursday, I'm talking next Thursday, but this coming Thursday now, come on down to Parrot Dog Brewery in Lyle Bay. We are going to be doing a live Big Show from 4 till 7. and we've never done a big show from Wellington just in an open public venue. It's always true. That's unbelievable, isn't it? It is. Yeah. It is. Yeah. So come on down.

12:01Jase:It is. No, no, I was just going to say to you, Kesey, I think we should talk more about this in this break. Oh, okay, yeah. If I know you from my 20-odd years of living in Wellington, I want to see you next Thursday. I cannot believe that we go bloody great guns down in Wellington. Absolutely. They love us down there. The big show goes off. We do the ratings and stuff. Wellington is a bloody big market for us for whatever reason. And the fact that we have never done a showdown there in almost five years is an absolute disgrace. It is. We've been behind a paywall. We've been inside Beervana. So only the elite have been able to access us.

12:36Jase:Well, this is open to the scum. This is open to the people. The filth. The filth. All you backbones that are working when Beervana is on, generally, All you tradies, everybody that works in film down there, this is right around the corner from Stone Street Studios, Lowell Bayers and Parrot Dog down there is a great bar. A lot of filmies get a few beers and after work down there. This is going to be absolutely massive. It is. Every single person that I know down there, I want to see you there. And I want you to bring your drinking pants. I want this to be the biggest show, the biggest OB that the big show has ever done.

13:16Jase:I want it to be a disgrace. I want Parrot Dog to regret having ever invited us through their doors. I want it to shut down afterwards.

13:24Keyzie:You know, and let's be fair, fellas, we've had some big, big shows, you know, live shows around the country, particularly in your Christchurch. We're laying down the baton to the people of Wellington. Christchurch was good. Dunedin was good. The biggest one we've ever done, though, was in Hookaticka, when it was me and Mogi and Pugsun. That one, like, that was out of control. So I think Okatika with me and Mogi is the one to beat.

13:49Jase:We've had some monsters. I mean, Christchurch at Robbie's was huge. There was an absolutely hammered, I can only describe physically as an ogre. He was about 22, 23 years old. He was huge. As we drove out of the car park there, he withdrew a driver from his golf bag. I don't know where that came from. And started driving rocks out of the rock garden at our car as we left. So you're saying you want that? Yeah, I want it to be complete madness. Charlie Gubb's going to be down there, the Great Warrior. All of his boys from Portaking are going to be there. Wow. I just, yeah, come one, come all.

14:28Keyzie:Totally, man. I'm really looking forward to it. I mean, I hate Wellington, but I'm looking forward to this. Starts 4 o 'clock Thursday the 21st. That is this coming Thursday. Goes till 7 and free backbone tea is available too. Until they run out. We usually take about 100 or so down there, so you have to get in there quick. But, of course, it is all in the build-up for Bear Vana, which is happening next weekend, Friday and Saturday. Bearvana.co.nz for tickets. Hey, and there'll be tunes like this playing too. Tom Petty. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Radiohead there on the radio.

15:05Keyzie:Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. Tune. It's a great tune. Absolute tune. Real tune. I like it. Hey, let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?

15:21Keyzie:Yes!

15:28Jase:Oh, God. What do I watch, fellas? Jeez. I watched a fair bit on the old plane. I don't know if you know, Jase, I went to Europe. You're joking. It's a bit of travel there and back, brother, let me tell you that. I watched a movie out of the UK. called The Ballad of Wallace Island. It's a good name, isn't it? Yeah, I'd be interested in that. The Ballad of Wallace Island. And it's written and starring a couple of comedians. And it's about this guy who lives on an island in the middle of nowhere. And he has won the lottery. And he's been living on this island for however long. And he hires his favourite band, a duo, a male and a female, to come over to the island and play a gig just for him.

16:12Jase:So there's only about four or five people that live on this island, but he wants it to be just for him. It's got Kerry Mulligan as the female. Yes. Very, very good actress. Academy Award, multiple Academy Award nominated. I think she used to go out with old Heath Ledger there. Right, okay. The name's kind of familiar. Oh, you'll know her, mate. You'll know her. And then a couple of these comedians there. It's a really, it's a very easy, it's sort of along the lines of Banshees of Inna Sheeran. Right, okay. So you'd absolutely love it. Very funny. The guy on the island is very, very quirky, very funny.

16:46Jase:Just a sort of a melodrama. Oh, not a drama. It's a drama, a comedy drama. And sort of about, you get this male and this female that used to be a duo, but they split up, you know, 15 or 20 years before, and this is the first time they've seen each other. Ah, okay. After all of these years. And now there's still feelings there because they're also a romantic couple. Blah, blah, blah. First of all, it's about 90 minutes long. Instant three stars. Yes. Instant three stars. And then I give it another half a, oh, sorry, three buzies. Yeah, what the hell's a star? And then another half a buzzy because I quite enjoyed the film.

17:21Jase:Worth a geese. You can see it if you fly on Emirates from Auckland to Dubai. Yeah. Auckland to Dubai or Dubai to Auckland. You don't think it's on all of them? It could be on all. I don't know because these are the only ones I was on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But if you get that flight, Emirates. Okay, good to know. Auckland to Dubai.

17:41Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good stuff. I was too busy mapping up my attack on the golf course last night, how I was going to approach it and demolish the course. So I didn't actually really watch anything last night.

17:54Jase:I heard you were building stairs on your fence line so you could have a peek into your neighbour's window, those two that are sort of always going at it. Was that right? I heard you were skinning a pool table so you could make that jacket.

18:06Keyzie:You guys are just jealous at how cool I am. You are. You're a hottie, James. Can I say, well, Jase, if you were planning your golf attack, you didn't watch anything, I've got a big recommendation for people if you're a fan of UK comedy. Yes. TV shows. It came out like 10 years ago, and it's based on radio, which is the reason why I first watched it. It was on Netflix, disappeared, and I couldn't find anywhere to watch it for ages, sort of forgot about it. Every episode is now on YouTube. It is a show called People Just Do Nothing. YouTube. And it is about a pirate UK garage radio station, emceeing over garage music.

18:47And it is like The Office. It's a mockumentary, but they are so good at emceeing, so good at pretending to be wasters. Right. And in fact, Pugs and For Me, they actually produce their own music and do concerts and stuff now. Right. I give it four buzzies. Whoa. It is so good. All on YouTube. People just do nothing. Check it out. It's brilliant. I'm going to.

19:07Keyzie:I am going to. I'm going to scunner. What? Siri. Stop. You don't have an Apple phone. You have a Huawei. What's it called again, Keezy? People just do nothing. People just do nothing. Remind me tonight after dinner. Thanks, mate. Peoplejustdonothing.com. .com. No. And it's on YouTube. It's bloody funny. Check it out. Slash HTTP.

19:32The Hauraki Beat Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

19:38Keyzie:You're welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Thursday afternoon's going well. You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger. Crave-worthy street food freshly made with old Reburger. Reburger.

19:50Jase:Yum. Sauce, chicken. Damn it. There isn't one that says yum. No, I thought he might have made one overnight. I'll poke some. Damn it. If you don't know what's happening, Mike's trying to guess which of the Reburger things they want to play next. I'm trying to stop guessing it because I'm over it, but I'm so competitive. I just can't help myself, you know?

20:06Keyzie:I just plump for chips every time. Yeah. You know, and eventually it's got to come out at some stage. You love the chips, eh? I really love the chips. When was the last time you had Reburger? Was it the first time you had Reburger? Last weekend, actually.

20:21Jase:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I tell you what, if there's one thing that let Europe down,

20:27Keyzie:it was the lack of Reburger. Exactly, yeah. I mean, if there's one thing holding me back from Europe, It's the lack of Reburger. And you've used all your holidays. Yeah. And partying with a dollar. Yeah. But mostly the lack of Reburger. Although I wouldn't be surprised if, oh, there was one, oh, no, that was Lee Burger. Yeah. Oh, Le Burger. Le Burger. Yeah, nice. I thought it was Reburger and I walked in and I was like, oh, this isn't Reburger, it's Le Burger. Actually, just while we were on the golf course today, old Keezy was regaling me with the cost of a burger and Le Fries over there. He was disgusted.

21:05Keyzie:Yeah. It's like$35 New Zealand. He was filthy. Well, I was trying to explain to Jase that if this is when I was in London, like you try and just, instead of going out to a fancy restaurant because it's so expensive, you'll go somewhere the equivalent of a Reburger and the burger will cost you like$25 to$30 New Zealand dollars and then you add chips will be the equivalent of$10 New Zealand dollars.

21:25Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, it's ridiculous. But you could tell by the look on his face he wasn't getting it, was he? Oh, no, he was fuming and looking for his ball.

21:33Keyzie:Yeah, I would have been too But you know, you didn't have that problem over there Did you Mogi? You were getting 90 pound bottles of wine Yeah I was Three or four of them at a go

21:43Jase:You know, my attitude man is just forget about it She'll be right, worry about it when you get home

21:47Keyzie:It's easy once you're buying 90 pound bottles of wine It's easy to forget about it

21:52Jase:The thing about that is I was staying with my mate there So I wasn't paying for accommodation And I was, I was texting the missus going Jeez, these bloody bottles of wine aren't cheap And she said, well you're not paying for accommodation So don't worry about it She was giving you the all clear. That's just absolutely right. Oh, was it a 90-pound? I thought you said you were pounding 90 bottles of wine. Well, yeah, pounding 90 bottles of 90-pound wine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Responsibly. Good stuff, man.

22:14Keyzie:Hey, now, coming up, heaps of stuff. Hang on, Jase. Actually, there's been an interesting news story around one of the Finn brothers in AI. Oh, yes. And it's actually, the big show has actually got a similar issue happening. So it's something I'd like to bring to the forefront. Pugs is the one that discovered it. Nice work, man. And I think we all need to sort of be in on this one. Okay, then. Sure, man. It sounds good. Here's Jimmy. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. Lenny Kravitz there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening, but right now, breaking news. This is breaking news. Do-do-do-sh.

22:55Breaking news to do with a beloved Kiwi band, Crowded House. A newly circulated AI-generated video has falsely been portraying Crowded House frontman Neil Finn discussing his ongoing battle with erectile dysfunction. Oh, is he suffering from that as well, Jase? Well, that's the thing. It's AI-generated. What? Okay. It's AI-generated and it even features an AI. What? His dick? Okay. No. So the video, it's like a news video, and it has Simon Dallow from TVNZ. Wow, Simon Dallow knows about it. Also AI generated and fake. Notice his hair's getting a bit grey. Interviewing him and talking about it.

23:38Keyzie:Oh, so it's not actually Neil Finn's dick. No, no, no, it's a fake. You can't interview somebody's dick. Can we clean this up? Well, I mean, he could have it out while they were chatting about it, that's all. But yes, okay. In this particular fake AI generated clip, it looks like a real news segment that Simon Dallow was interviewing him about his battles with erectile dysfunction. He complains that his down... Can I just... Sorry, can I just stop you there, Kesey?

24:04Jase:Is it really a battle with erectile dysfunction? It feels like you're making a big deal about, you know, a battle. Is it a battle? Because you also battle cancer. Yeah. I could see a cancer... That would be a battle. Totally. But battling yourself down...

24:21Keyzie:It has the potential to hugely impact your life. Sure. This is more of a skirmish. Yeah, that's right.

24:31Jase:A joust. Yeah, a melee, a sortie, a skirmish. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, skirmish. So the way it works is like Simon Dallow's interviewing Finn about it. He's saying he's battled with it for years, and then there's this weird side effect-free formula that it's advertising basically saying it can cure it. They then went on to Facebook saying, look, this isn't true. Neil's got no issues down there. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. But it's just amazing what AI can do. Here's a wee clip of the actual interview and how realistic it is.

25:04Keyzie:I never thought I'd be able to become a father again. Honestly, I believe that chapter of my life was closed, not because I didn't want it, but because I simply couldn't.

25:14Jase:For years, I lived with a problem most men are too ashamed to talk about. My erections became weaker and weaker. I don't know that it really sounds like him. But most people wouldn't know what he sounds like. I guess so. Yeah, I guess so. You don't think it's realistic what AI can do?

25:31Keyzie:Oh, I'm sure it is, Keezy. My name's Hoity J, and I have a tiny downstairs.

25:41Keyzie:I knew from the get-go where this was going. Can we hear that again? My name's Hoity J, and I have a tiny downstairs. You always speak with that inflection of those. Yeah, well, but the thing is, that's not AI generated, though. No, and neither is this. I love you so much, Kesey. You're the real rogue stallion of the big show and a great broadcaster at that. What do you think about that? Again, not AI. It's all true. Really? Yeah, man. But did you say it? Totally I did. Ah, okay. Yeah, yeah. So I don't see the connection. I just worry, as radio broadcasters, there's a lot of our audio out there.

26:18For sure. It's super easy to clone what we say and make it sound realistic.

26:22Jase:How good. Are you worried? Well, if it means that we can be cloned and then not have to do the show but get paid, how good would that be? Like Tom Hanks. That would be really good. Like Tom Hanks.

26:32Keyzie:I worry now that you put that out there now, Keezy. How easy it is to do that with all our audio out there. There's going to be some absolute travesties coming through now. That's just the future. That's just what we're in for.

26:48Jase:Yeah, suck it up.

26:49Keyzie:But I'm with Mogey, though. I mean, if someone gets to do that and I still get paid, I'm for it. Well, when I say just like Tom Hanks, didn't he sign away his likeness? Yeah, I think he did, yeah. Yeah, so even after he dies, he can still make movies, but his estate will still get paid for them. How good's that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So just something we should...

27:08Jase:I think we've got enough Tom Hanks movies, to be fair. Don't you reckon? Yeah, there's a fair few. I was looking forward to... I don't know, man. Having a break. Having a break. Wait, so you're looking forward to Tom Hanks dying? It's just stopping making movies, man. Yeah, true.

27:21Keyzie:Here's the Rolling Stones. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. Incubus there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 5.26. Of course, the 90s, nothing but 90s countdown will be kicking off in just over a week's time. Fellas, not next week, the week after. Yeah, man. Right now we're in the voting stage. Make sure, if you want to vote for your favourite 90s tune, to text the word VOTE to 3483. We'll chuck you a bounce back, which has a little link to VOTE online, and that gets you in the draw for a 90s Rewind kit. Thanks to Super Liquor, Chester 30 Years, Fender guitar in there, Chuck Taylors, a Casio watch, 95 Waz jersey replica, $1 ,000 cash, whole heap of stuff.

28:00Mean. So make sure you get yourself in the draw there by texting VOTE to 3483.

28:04Jase:Hey, fellas, I've just been over to Europe, and I don't want to bang on about it or anything like that, but I had a few adventures while I was there. Yes. And, you know, a few missteps, if I could put it that way. I thought about Keezy a lot while I was over there thinking, God, he wouldn't be able to deal with this, man. I 100 % wouldn't. Yesterday's one, you hopped out of a taxi but left your fanny pack in there, which had your passport in it. That's right. So first of all, I got sinusitis on the flight over there and had sinusitis for the entire trip, so I was running at about 70 % the whole time.

28:37Jase:Couldn't enjoy cigarettes, but made my best effort. Then after being in Spain for about one hour, as you say, Kesey, I left my fanny pack in a taxi, had to pay€300 to get it back, managed to find it, which was pretty cool. €300, though. Yeah, who cares, man? That's only like€600 New Zealand. Exactly. How many burgers is that in London, Kesey? Two. It's my new currency. The next thing I did was I jumped on a plane. I think this plane I was heading over to London. So this was from Spain to London. Oh, yeah, so this is what happened. That's right. So I got to the airport in Spain, dropped off our rental car, and then you get a bus.

29:26Jase:You have to get a bus from the rental car joint over to the airport. That's right. So it was about a 20-minute drive there. So on my way to the airport to fly out to go to London, As soon as I get off the bus and get to the airport, I go, oh, God. I've left my headphones in the boot of the car. Oh, my gosh. But you need to have these headphones, Jase, because they're, what do you call them? Noise cancelling. Noise cancelling. So you've got to have them on the plane and all that sort of thing.

29:57Keyzie:Wait, what did you say? Trendy. Trendy. No, tracking. He tracked his password down. Those are those other ones, yeah.

30:04Jase:So anyway, I needed to have those. These Sony bastards. They're bloody good. So I jumped straight back on the bus and went back to the car place. Oh, here we go. 20 minutes. And, of course, the car's been cleaned out by all of these backbones there. Yeah. And I find the car immediately. Have a look in the boot. Nah. And there's all these guys cleaning the car out. And I think, what are my chances of getting this back? Anyway, they have a look. And they find them. Wow. A miracle. What a bunch of legends those guys are. They could have kept them. worked bloody hard, those guys, but they didn't. They gave them to me, so sweet.

30:36Jase:Got those back on the bus another 20 minutes back to the airport. Then I get on the plane, and I fly to London, and then I leave them on the plane. I haven't seen the six. You're such a monster. Oh, what a debacle. Do you have them now? No. Oh, my God. They're gone, Kesey. They're on that plane. There's no getting them back. What a shambles. How much did they set you back? A pair of those. I don't know, actually. I think they were about$250 or something. $250,$280. That's one London burger. Yeah. Yeah. That's sweet, man. So that's another thing that happened. The worst part is I know Mogi's got a little list of the blowouts he's had.

31:18And we're only like, how far down the list are we? I think I've got a few more. Okay, cool.

31:24Jase:Because as I was talking, I just remembered another one, yeah. Great. I'm glad we're spreading these out because I think I might faint if I hear too many of them at once. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Kesey.

31:37Keyzie:The Black Keys there on the radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. The time is 5.49 which means it's time for

31:47Jase:We're up to find the brewery of the day That's right, every single day in the lead up to Bear Vana which is happening next Friday down in Wellington there. Tickets still available, beervano.co.nz. Coming fast, isn't it, fellas? It's coming real fast. And every day we are featuring a different brewery, and it's called the Brewery of the Day. Brewery. Brewery. Yeah. Brewery. Today the brewery is Good George Brewing. Good George. Good George what? Brewery. Brewery. Brewery. Brewery. No, it's not brew-ro-ry. It's brew-ro-ry. Brew-ro-ry. There we go. What was I saying? Brew-ro-ry. Brew-ry. Brew-ry.

32:38Jase:But anyway. Good George Brewing. How good's Good George? Oh, mate. So good. New Plymouth. We spent some time there, haven't we, fellas? Is that right? Nah, that's a different one. Where was it? This starts in Hamilton back in 2012. Oh, that's what it was. We've been there many times. Yes, we have. We were down there for field days and they, remember? Was it the Good George team? Yes. Yes. And they made a few hazy or foggy IPAs, I want to say, and they had our names on them. Yes, that's right. It was great. Yes. My name's Mike. Well, my name's Chris, but mine still said Keezy. Yours said Hoity J.

33:16Jase. Jase.

33:20Keyzie:Actually, I think.

33:21Jase:What? Hoity Jizz would be a good name for a beer. It's got sort of a refreshing sound to it, doesn't it? Yeah, it's so good. I feel like the word jizz has just been... Normalised. It's a massive feature of our show now. What's my name? It started in Hamilton back in 2012, founded by three mates with a shared passion for great drinks and good times. It's a common denominator, isn't it? You often find there's a bunch of mates and they just think to themselves, jeez, we should start brewing some piss.

33:50Keyzie:It's a great idea. It is, isn't it? Well, three mates. Yes. I'm looking around the studio here. What do we call it?

34:02Jiminy Cricket. Jiminy Cricket Brewing. They spotted a gap for bold, rule-breaking brews. There's always a gap. And it's exactly what they set out to make from this. Good George was born. We'll see you there, fellas. Good George Brewery at Bear Varner. Yes. Can't wait, man. Yes. I'm fizzed up.

34:18Keyzie:It was a good drop. It was, and they took us through their establishment there, showed us how they made it all and all that jazz. Yeah, bloody good. It's quite the operation. Oh, yeah. I tried to steal some, but it didn't work. Hey, this is The Cure, just like heaven. It's a tune, too. It's a tune. One of your favourites, Jase. Wow. Isn't it? I do like it. Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. The Cure there on the radio, Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. After six o 'clock, Keezy's got a bone to pick. I've got a bone to pick. I got a bone to pick. And we're also giving out some advice as well.

34:58Keyzie:Yes. We certainly are. So if you ever need advice, email us, meetpaddynips69 at gmail.com. If we read your advice question out on the air, you get an instant$50 Reburger voucher. So it's worth doing. And when you say instant, you mean? Oh, it'll take a couple of weeks. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. Yes, indeed. Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Thursday night's going along very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Reburger. Reburger, crave-worthy street food, freshly made with Reburger. Reburger, b***h.

35:37Chips.

35:38Jase:Reburger.

35:42Keyzie:So good, fellas. Just persist, Mogan. Thanks, mate. Just keep doing it, keep doing it. Eventually, Keezy's going to crack, and he's going to play that one. The chips one. Yeah, the chips one. Should we think of something else instead of a guessing game?

35:54Jase:Yeah, I think so. I'm over it. Yeah. What could it be? Nothing. Just nothing? We'll just plug the ass out of Reburger and leave it at that. What if I play one sting instead of two? Okay. You know? Yeah. That way it's not like, oh, I'll just mix up the stings, I'll just play them once every hour, and then that's it. Okay.

36:12Keyzie:What do you reckon, Jase? Yeah, that sounds great to me, man. I mean, I'm still going to bang on about Reburger because I love it so much, but in terms of stings, I'm happy with one an hour. Yes. I was wondering about this the other day, actually. Jase, because you're such a fan, top three burgers from Reburger. Oh, that's good, man. Top three burgers? Yeah, like, you know, combos. I like the chicken and bacon. I like the backbone burger. And there's another one called the J6. The J6? Yeah, man, it's really good. But any burger that you get from Reburger. Can you go wrong there, do you think, man?

36:48Keyzie:I don't think so. No. And you've got the fries as well.

36:53Jase:Oh, yeah.

36:54Keyzie:More of a chip than a fry. Even if it's not your favourite burger ever, they'll be your favourite fries. The thing with Reburger, though, is they're fries. Chips. Well, they're chips. They make loaded fries. And it says on the menu that they're called fries. But they do loaded fries. Yes, they do. And they'll cover it with, like, mints and jalapenos and mustard and, like, burger sauce and stuff. And it's like you're eating a burger on fries. Yeah, I've had that as well. It's bloody good. Wow. That's good stuff. Hey, coming up, Keezy's got a bone to pick. Yeah, and it's with a beloved Kiwi TV show.

37:28Ah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue, and Keezy. Guns. Hey.

37:37Keyzie:Roses there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. Ah, fellas, I've got a bone to pick. I got a bone to pick. Now, full disclosure. I have a bone to pick with Grand Designs, the TV show, specifically the New Zealand version. Same.

37:52Jase:That's why I never watch it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the way an episode works, if you haven't watched it, is they'll go along to an interesting architectural build that's happening. They'll talk to the people. They'll be like, how long do you think this is going to take? Oh, hopefully we'll be in by Christmas. It then takes two and a half years. They blow out over budget. It's really stressful. And then at the end, they regret doing it. That is the recipe that I like. Yes. Last night we watched an episode, TVNZ Plus, from the latest season. It was people that were so rich, there was absolutely no drama.

38:24Jase:Right. So they walked in, they bought a place in the north shore of Auckland, Myrungi Bay, I think it was. A place came up for sale. We'd been looking for ages. They wanted 5.8 mil. We bought it after an hour. We just bought it off them straight away, handed them the cash. Yeah. That's a lot of cash. A shitload of cash. And good for them. They were obviously really wealthy. They worked really hard. Good for them. Do you know they worked really hard? They might have inherited it. I have no idea. No, the guy, he was pretty busy, it seemed. It's been a busy day. They then spent$6 million New Zealand dollars.

38:55That was their budget.

38:56Jase:Yeah. Building this huge house. There was no drama. They didn't care. Like, it was just the fact that they could walk in and buy a$6 million plot of land in an hour, and they were like, ha-ha, we kind of paid overs for it, but we really wanted it. Yeah. And then they built this massive house, and there was no drama and it was built on time and they just had heaps of cash. That's not interesting. That's just like, hey, look how successful these people are. The colour green doesn't suit you, Keezy. Can I say that, man? Oh, I'm massively jealous. Yeah. But what I like in an episode of - You want to see people's lives ruined.

39:30Well, no, no, no. Yeah, it's always entertaining. But it's always like, shit, you know, we've put our life savings into this and this is what we've always wanted. This was just people. It's going to matter. This was the third house they'd built Yeah. And the guy was like, oh, yeah, hopefully it's our last house, but you never know. I was just like. Am I right? Older indoors. It just wasn't at all relatable or, yeah, it just, I don't know. Nice house? Amazing house.

39:55Keyzie:If I was you, Keezy, because TVNZ's just across the road there, I'd go in and have a word, mate. Yeah. You know what I mean? Knock on the door and go, hey. Hey. Pull your head in.

40:03Jase:Yeah, I've got a bone to pick. Yeah, you're going to have to take that sting over with you. Yeah, on a little speaker or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But do you think that that's like, not that you're going to watch it.

40:12Keyzie:That's not entertaining. That's sickening. And it's like, I just feel, yeah, it just wasn't at all what the show should be. It's like, hey, these people are really rich. They're building this thing. There's no issues. They're throwing so much cash at it. Look at their house.

40:22Jase:I'd be interested in it for the house owner. If it's a one-off, I think I could live with it. What do you mean? Well, if it's a one-off in the sense that it's the only episode you've ever seen where that happens, I think I could live with it. Yeah. And I just go, wow, these guys have got so much money. Look at what they're able to build when all these other people are only able to build things that are not as good as this. I think I'd be excited to see, jeez, what can these rich bastards build? I mean, I can't even afford to put a range hood in at the moment. Well, you can. You just spend all your money on vapes.

40:52Anyway, TVNZ, pull your head in. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.

40:59Keyzie:R.E.M. there on the radio. Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. Now, great news, fellas. The good bastards at Haera Hubby are back with the Big Show. Yeah. Tell us about it, man. Well, this is an opportunity if people want stuff done around, because this is the great thing about hire a hubby. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because they go around to your house and they fix stuff. Yeah. You know, if you're anything. They can fix your marriage? Well, yes. They can fix you a drink, like a cocktail. Not so much. Can I fix you a stiff drink? Like, if you're looking at a hoity J type character, I'll be honest, I'm not very practical.

41:33Keyzie:What? Right? And so there's stuff around my house it needs doing, and I go, I can't do that. I don't have the skills. Light bulb. I'll get someone from hire a hubby. Nice. And if you're really smart and have two light bulbs, you'll head to hodaki.co.nz and get yourself in the drawer to win the chance for the big show to come around and do your work for you.

41:54Jase:Hey. We did it earlier this year. We hooked a bloke called Henry up with a veggie garden and he's now enjoying the fruits of our labour. Yeah. Even though it was a veggie garden.

42:03Keyzie:Yeah, well, I tell you what, that was a shocker because we went round to his place to do all the work and I've never seen so much dog shit on a lawn. It was a disgrace.

42:11Jase:You couldn't find the lawn for all the dog shit. You really couldn't. It was that bad. It was like, oh, man, someone sprinkled grass on this dog shit field.

42:19Keyzie:Well, the great thing about Hire a Hubby is not only – because we went to his parents' place first and they did a bit of work there and then they went over to his place and did a bit of work there to give him the full value. And, of course, we helped.

42:31Jase:Yeah, of course we did. We went around there and shot a video for social media. Yeah, it sort of shook hands and said, right, well, see you later. Hi, Robby. Anyway, we're here to offer our handyman services to one of your lucky listeners once again. You're a handyman, eh, Keezy? I like to think I am, but I don't know how handy. Oh, that kind of handyman.

42:50Keyzie:He's filthy today. He is filthy today. I don't know what's got onto him. He's filthy today. But hodaki.co.nz, get yourself in the draw there. Also, Hiro Hubby are on the lookout for franchisees. If you think you've got the skills and the nows to get involved, then make sure you get in touch with Hire a Hubby. They're just a click or a call away.

43:09Jase:Kia kaha. Yeah, Kia kaha, Hire a Hubby. The Hauraki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.

43:19Keyzie:Lou Reed there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening. It's time to give out some much needed advice. Be Paddy Nip 69. at gmail.com. Get in touch. With the fellas. Meet Patty Nips 69 at gmail.com. It's a real email address. You can ask for advice. It's 100 % anonymous. And if we read it out and solve your issue on the radio, you get an instant$50 Reburger voucher. Well, you'll get that even if we don't work it out, Keezy. Oh, totally. Because we're just reading it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Which is great. I mean, we always do work it out. Totally, man. This is from Anonymous G'day fellas I pride myself on being a backbone New Zealander But my flat share in Dunedin is turning feral Flat share?

44:11Flat situation My flatmate, everyone calls him Trout Has decided the most sterile place to brew his homemade kombucha Is in the shower cubicle He swears the steam helps the funk The scoby inside, which is like the way Yeah, the mother The mother, yeah The scoby inside has been squatting on the tiles for three weeks and now looks like a damp pancake the size of a vinyl record. I now smell like sour peaches at work and HR thinks I'm taking up vaping vinegar. The landlord did an inspection, asked if we're running a meth lab. Trout talks to the scoby, calls it mother, and insists she's developing sentience.

44:49Yeah. I've tried reasoning with it, but he says moving the brew will traumatise mother's biome and ruin the mouthfeel. How do I evict mother from the bathroom without starting a full-scale flat war? And should I be sleeping with the door locked in case the scoby crawls down the hallway at night?

45:06Jase:Cheers. Well, we used to make kombucha as well. We had a mother in the jar when I was living over on Waiheke and used to make it. It's bloody nice stuff. But the mother, the scoby there, is a disgusting foul bastard. Is it like a jellyfish almost? It's a huge jelly bastard there. Yes. And you certainly do get the feeling that it's watching you. And I just don't, I do not see the value in having them exist. They're just too, they're too freaky. Not in your house. Not anywhere. Can I just say, can I just say, I think our old mate Trout sounds like a backbone. He sounds like a mad bastard. Trout's got a scoby in the shower.

45:51Trinks like a fish.

45:52Keyzie:And at least it's a constructive kind of thing. I mean, we had stuff growing in our showers that had nothing to do with anything apart from filth. You know, your mould, your mushrooms, stuff like that. So, I mean, at least it's a hobby of some description and not just filth.

46:10Jase:Yeah, but it's impeding on everybody else, isn't it? When you're putting it in the shower. And I don't know why it's in the shower.

46:16Keyzie:You know what's going on in the shower a lot of the time, don't you, Fjellis? What's that? You know what people do in the shower a lot of the time. Oh, I know what you do. No, what are you talking about? You know what I mean? I wash myself and shampoo my hair. Vigorously. Yeah, okay. Hang on. But the thing is, you can't complain about Trout's scoby and then want to hone on the kombucha.

46:38Jase:Well, that's exactly right as well, but it doesn't sound like he's into it. He's concerned, and this is how I felt as well. He's saying, should I lock my door so that Mother doesn't come and climb into bed beside me? And you do get that feeling. Imagine waking up. Next to Mother. And Mother's on your face trying to... Yeah, well, Trout, this is what's going to happen, is Trout's going to start dressing Mother up. Yeah.

47:00Keyzie:I'm amazed. Sounds like an odd fish. Because, you know, usually when you're in the brewing scenario in a flat situation, it's not your kombuchas. It's usually some boozy type set up, you know, so you can get cheap booze. Yeah.

47:14Jase:So, I mean, it's, I think, I'm all for it. I reckon smack Mother over, eh? Put Mother in the toilet and flush it, I reckon. We'll push it down the old drain there. Yeah, yeah. There you go, Anonymous.

47:26Keyzie:I mean, you guys do stuff in the shower, though, right?

47:32The Hauraki Big Show Podcast.

47:42Keyzie:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big show done and dusted for your Thursday night. Make sure you tune in tomorrow, of course, for the first throbber since the fellas have been back. Is the theme Europe? Is the theme...

47:56Jase:Dunno. Europe? I don't know. I haven't decided that yet. Well, we could just lock it in right here, right now. Yeah, we could. Feels like we could do better, though.

48:04Keyzie:Yeah, we can toss it around tomorrow, Keezy. All right, we'll toss it around tomorrow, then. Let's toss it around. On the podcast outro today, we had to do a bit of editing, actually. Oh, yes. Because Mogi went full, full filth. And Jase went full talking about stuff he probably shouldn't. and then had to beat that out. It was a good potty, though, and if you've missed the radio show today, make sure you tune in at 7.30. That's when Pugs drops the potties, including a highlights package of today's radio show.

48:34Jase:You know what you're getting. You know what you're getting. It's Heartland meets pornography. Yeah, Heartland meets... Boogie Nights. Yeah. Buzzy Nights. It should be called Buzzy Nights. No, actually... That rolls off the tongue.

48:51Keyzie:I'm picking that with something that Mogi said. No, it was actually me, but I was quoting Mogi. Yeah, that makes sense. You'll have to listen to it. Search Haraki Big Show wherever you get your potties from. Now, listen, make sure you check out the Instagram account. Make sure you check out the podcast. We will be back tomorrow, same time, same place. Until then, see you later.
