0:10G-Lane:Welcome, this is Big, to the Hauraki Big Show. Really Big. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Big Show!
0:21G-Lane:Oh, g'day you mad bastard. It's so great to have your company on this absolutely glorious Friday afternoon. It is, in fact, the 27th of March, 2026. And you, my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you by Toledo's.
0:49Mogey:Rehydrate the right way with Toledo's. It's a natural, electric-like beverage. Give it to the kids there. Natural colours, natural flavours as well. No preservatives. Real ingredients, fellas. Real ingredients.
1:11G-Lane:Toledo's. G'day, Mogey Estelle. Sweet stud muffin. You great God, you Adonis.
1:23Jase:How's life? Going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. We've had some bad weather. No doubt it's pushed its way down the country a little bit more. Not everyone's going to be bathing in sunlight as we are here in the north, but, jeez, she's a bloody ripper of a day today. Cracker. Are you allowed to call it an Indian summer? We'll discuss this further later in the show. So my vibe, my feeling is probably not. Say it again. Indian Summer. Jase, you say it.
1:58G-Lane:Indian Summer. Nah, that's not wrong about it. That was wrong. I mean, it felt wrong.
2:05Mogey:No, you loved it.
2:06G-Lane:Well, I mean, I like saying it, but it just felt different from Moggy somehow. I don't quite know what that was.
2:14Mogey:Once again, I think it's the Venom. Yeah. Is it?
2:17Jase:Yeah. It's like you've got hate in your heart.
2:21Mogey:Yeah. I don't know what it is. That's what it is. Anyway, how are you going today, Jase? You all good, man?
2:25G-Lane:Yeah, good, thanks, fellas. I actually have been getting a few pains in my chest of late, but I don't think it's hate. I think it's just cholesterol. Yeah. What about you, Keezy, and your vintage Warriors shirt there? How are you, mate? I'm actually fizzed up Friday night Warriors game.
2:42Mogey:Oh, yes, of course.
2:43G-Lane:I forgot about that.
2:43Mogey:And for those of you that are rugby league fans, yes, it was pissing down overnight here in Auckland and all yesterday. But today it has been absolutely beautiful. So it's got to be a good game. And I'm fizzed. And also the Friday throbber today. So I'm excited.
2:54G-Lane:Yeah, great stuff. Hey, what's coming up? Do you want to know?
3:01Jase:What's happening on the big show with old Mogi? Another couple of opportunities to get yourself into the magic round. We're off to Brisbane to see the Warriors play the Broncos in the NRL there. Yeah, 0800 Hauraki. When you hear the cue to call, she's going to be a bloody rabbit. You're a disgrace. Sorry, what was that, mate? I'm blind in my left eye. I didn't even see what happened.
3:22Mogey:That explains the full turning of the chair. Yeah. That's right.
3:25Jase:Also, as Keezy's already mentioned, we've got the throbber coming up. It just gets better and better every week, doesn't it, feels? It does. Feels? And Jace's daughter is home from Australia, and he's not happy about it. You'll find out why next.
3:40G-Lane:In the meantime, I mean, what better way to kick off a Friday arbor than a bit of grey day?
3:47Mogey:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
3:52G-Lane:Grinspoon. Grinspoon. The Grinners, they call them. The most stupid name for a band ever in the history of music.
4:02Jase:What about Pearl Jam? Come on, man. No, the name, Pearl Jam. I like Pearl Jam. You like that, do you?
4:08G-Lane:Yes, I do. Because it's based off a story.
4:11Jase:What's Grinspoon? Do you think it rolls off the tongue, Pearl Jam?
4:14G-Lane:Yeah, it does for me. Yeah? Pearl Jam. You like that, do you? Yeah, man. Okay.
4:19Mogey:It's a good one to wrap your lips around.
4:21G-Lane:Yeah.
4:22Mogey:You like that? Pearl Jam.
4:24G-Lane:Because it's got jam in it, which suggests they're jamming. Yeah, it would suggest that.
4:29Jase:Not completely accurate, but yeah. It's not.
4:31G-Lane:It's based off, wasn't it their grandmother made Pearl's jam?
4:35Jase:Well, that's one version of the story. There's another version of the story as well. Right. Pearl jam. Think about that. Think about that.
4:43G-Lane:We'll come back to that. Yeah, we'll come back to that. Now, listen, fellas, something, something, I'm still recovering from it, actually, to be honest with you.
4:54Mogey:Sorry, just quickly, Grinspoon is named Grinspoon after Dr. Lester Grinspoon, a Harvard Medical School professor and a notable advocate for the medical use of marijuana. So that's why they're named Grinspoon.
5:06G-Lane:Well, who's going to know that information?
5:08Mogey:Well, everyone listening now, which is like, what, 15 people? Yeah, can you just Google what pill jam means?
5:13Jase:We might as well now we've detoured into this. Yeah, we've massively detoured. Why don't we just detour into that? What? Because that was the story that I understood, Jase, pill jam. And wasn't it a hallucinogenic jam? That one of the members of pill jam, their grandmother, she made a jam, a pill jam that was, yes, as you say, a hallucinogenic. It turns out that that was false. My God, are you kidding me? 100 % false. But Keezy there's had a bit of a Google. What have you got there, Keezy?
5:43Mogey:Pearl Jam's name came from a combination of bassist Jeff Ammons suggesting Pearl and the band adding jam after going to a Neil Young concert in 91 where he played long, improvised jams. Right.

5:58Jase:That's one of the versions.
5:59Mogey:Yeah, because I thought it was like jam from your pearls. Oh, okay. Yeah.
6:04G-Lane:Now, Mogi's just done a physical action for me, which obviously the audience can't, the listening audience can't see, which suggests something altogether different from...
6:15Mogey:Pearl's jam. Yeah, that's right.
6:17G-Lane:That the jam came from another source.
6:20Jase:More of a pearl-coloured jam. Okay. See what I'm saying? See what I'm saying? 3483 0800-HODEG, if you think you know what it is, we'll probably give you a million dollars.
6:31Mogey:Yeah, definitely will. Well, actually, just on 3483. It is Friday. If you've got a shout-out you'd like to make, give us a text. Every text in the draw for a$50 Reburger voucher. And you'll get to hear this noise too when you send through a shout-out. Jase. Oh, wait. Sorry, wrong one. Friday. Sorry, the buttons are real close together there. It was an accident. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
7:02G-Lane:Yes, indeed. News there on the Radio Hodaki. Big show this Friday afternoon. The time, 24 minutes past 4 o 'clock. A few frout outs on 3483, Keezy.
7:14Mogey:Yeah, a few Friday shout outs. G'day, fellas. Shout out to my mate Kez. Backbone will be sitting in the tractor right now doing God's work. High chance he'll be having a go at himself. Friday. Keezy, keezy, keezy. Another one here as well, fellas. This is from Pete. By the way, that last one was from Will. Pete says, shout out to Peachy for the Waz ticket and Podge and G for letting me crash. Legends. Nightbang. Right out, motherfucker. Keep them coming, 3483.
7:39G-Lane:Yeah, great stuff, Keezy, great stuff. Fellas, as I mentioned yesterday, one of my girls, one of my daughters, flew over from Australia yesterday for a quick visit for a few days. Nice. Which was lovely. She's staying at yours? Yeah, she's staying at the apartment there in the Suba Deux. Nice. And she turned up pretty much at the same time that I finished work, which was convenient.
8:01Jase:Yes.
8:02G-Lane:And it was lovely, as always, to see one of my girls because, you know, three of my girls now live overseas, and that's pretty tough on old Hoity J. Yes. You know what I mean? I miss my girls. I mean, you can message each other and all that sort of stuff, but it's not like in person. Yeah. Anyway, it was very nice when we got some Uber Eats and we were sitting there and we were chatting away. Yeah. And then something deeply disturbing happened. And my daughter's sitting on the couch and she's chatting away and I was like, hang on one bloody minute. Oh, that would have lost a bit of effort, a bit of impact
8:45Jase:when you buggered up that last word.
8:47G-Lane:What the hell said I? And my daughter was like, what? What? What's happened? And I said, you, young lady, have got an Australian accent. What the bloody hell is going on?
9:07Mogey:Really, you had a go at her.
9:11G-Lane:Well, yes, I did. Far out. I mean, I was genuinely, you know, because she's grown up with me all her life and stuff and she sounds a certain way. And now she's got a really strong Australian. And I was listening to her going, something's different about her.
9:24Mogey:Oh, no.
9:25G-Lane:And now she's got a really, it's amazing. Yeah. And I'm like, yeah. And I'm like, what the hell? Yeah.
9:34Jase:Oh, well, that's that. Well, you had a good run with her, man.
9:36G-Lane:I guess so.
9:37Jase:Yeah.
9:37G-Lane:I mean, you know, you talk about, you know, if you love someone, you set them free. I didn't realise that that process involved adopting an Australian accent. Yeah, no, that's a bugger, isn't it?
9:49Jase:Because you put so much work into a kid as well. Exactly. And then they come back to you and they're just completely busted.
9:54G-Lane:It's amazing, Dad. No, it's not. No, it's not, darling.
9:59Mogey:So her having a slight Australian accent now is that it? It's not slight.
10:02G-Lane:It's massive.
10:03Mogey:Okay, massive.
10:04G-Lane:And I mean, in her defence, she's lived there for nearly six years now. There's no excuse for it, Kesey.
10:10Mogey:So that means that she's just done in your eyes. That's it. Well, you know, it's no...
10:16G-Lane:I went and saw my lawyer today after last night. There may or may not have been a changing of the will. Wow. There may or may not have been a rewriting of the will.
10:27Mogey:Yeah, right. Well, Mogi, you lived in Aussie for a long time.
10:30Jase:I did.
10:30Mogey:Did you get an accent?
10:31Jase:No, absolutely not. But the trick is I never, ever, ever hung out with or spoke to an Australian. Thank you, Mogi. The whole time you were there. So what I would do, I just, what you've got is a huge group of ex-pat New Zealanders over there. So you go over there, you're in a different country, but for all intents and purposes, you're actually still in New Zealand because you only hang out with New Zealanders. You went with New Zealanders. You go to the pub every single day with New Zealanders. You get in fights with New Zealanders. You know, everything is with New Zealanders. So I went over there.
11:03Jase:I never spoke to an Australian. Yeah, right.
11:05Mogey:How long were you there for?
11:07Jase:Four and a half years. Yeah, right.
11:09Mogey:Because, Jase, I mean, you're also kind of guilty of this because remember you went to Vietnam for two weeks and you came back with that accent.
11:15G-Lane:That's right. Yeah, yeah. all the Vietnamese. Xin chào!
11:18Mogey:Hang on a millet. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
11:26G-Lane:Welcome back. The Big Show. Magic round three beat. Let's put another mad bastard on the bench. Well, let's put three on the bench, eh, fellas? What do you say? You're crazy, Jase, man.
11:42Mogey:This is all thanks to our mates at Boys Trip. Oh, God. Oh, boy, oh, boy. Sorry. Oh, God. It was a sponsor's name. Oh, boy, oh, boy. It was a client's name as well.
11:52G-Lane:Yeah, I know. That is an absolute shocker.
11:57Mogey:BoysTrip.co.nz. You'll be joining us over in Brisbane. Eight games of NRL. Three amazing days. Suncorp Stadium. Caxton Street. Mogi will be there.
12:09Jase:I'll be there, mate. And I've also got another mate coming with me. Old Jols. Old Jols. He's going to be there. and my brother-in-law is coming up from Sydney. It's going to be going off, y 'all. It's going to be going off. See, this is the thing. I'm not just being on the radio here and saying, oh, yeah, it's great, you know, and trying to act like it's good for people to get involved with. I'm telling my friends in whānau to come up because it is sick. My brother-in-law actually was up there last year and is coming back for his second year in a row.
12:35Mogey:Wasn't he sleeping in your room?
12:36Jase:He was sleeping in my room. It's weird because we were talking about that. I can't remember any of that. I don't know why. I know why. I don't know why. I don't know. I know exactly.
12:46G-Lane:I do remember that he woke you up with his horrendous snoring at one point.
12:51Jase:Maybe. I'd like to argue it. I've got no recollection of him being in the room or even there on the weekend at all. But the photo evidence tells me he was there.
13:00G-Lane:Yes.
13:00Jase:And I saw him.
13:01G-Lane:We had a few chats. Now, listen, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Dan, you mad bastard. How's life?
13:07Mogey:Oh, pretty good. Thanks, Wayne. Pretty good. Especially now.
13:09G-Lane:Yeah, beautiful day in Auckland City, isn't it, Dan?
13:12Mogey:Absolutely. You love it.
13:13G-Lane:Hey, mate, what do you do for a crust?
13:17Mogey:I do IT support.
13:18Jase:Oh, yeah, backbone. Yeah, backbone. Yeah, good. Who would you take with you, man, if you happened to win?
13:25Mogey:Probably the missus if she paid her cards, right?
13:27Jase:Yeah, she probably won't, though. So who are you going to take?
13:30Mogey:Probably my best, mate. Yeah, backbone.
13:32G-Lane:Hey, just in terms of the IT support there, Dan, old Keezy's phone is riddled with porn. Is there anything you can do with that?
13:42Mogey:Maybe just do a reboot of sorts Yeah okay maybe do a reboot
13:47G-Lane:Rebooty
13:47Mogey:Yeah cheers Cheers Jase Thanks Dan mate Maybe I'll get you to help me with that When we're over in Brizzy alright Sweet as yeah Alright you're in the draw bro Good on you mate

14:05Mogey:Landscaper Oh yeah bad mate
14:07G-Lane:Couldn't ask for a better day for landscaping than today eh
14:11Mogey:I'm swearing like a bush up in a court case, so I'm keen to get a few beers now. Yeah, yeah, no, fair call, mate.
14:17G-Lane:Fair call. Obviously a massive Waz fan.
14:20Mogey:Yeah, it'd be good, yeah. I took my son to his first game against the Raiders the other weekend. Oh, yeah. Bit of a wet one, but now I've got the results. Yeah, yeah, nice. It'll be even better. Smash them up. Yeah, good on you, Mike. You hold the line, mate. You're in the drawer, okay? Top job. Cheers, team.
14:34G-Lane:Thanks, mate. G'day, Catherine. How's life?
14:37Mogey:I'm good. How you doing?
14:38G-Lane:Yeah, good, thanks. Catherine, what do you do for a crust? Oh, my mum. My mum's before. Oh, backbone.
14:46Jase:Backbone. But what do you do for work?
14:51G-Lane:That would be a job.
14:53Jase:Got him. Who would you take with you if you happened to win? One of your kids?
14:58Mogey:No, no. I need a break for them. Definitely my husband. What's his name again, Catherine? He's Eli. Eli. Oh, Eli. He is a shocker. He is a shocking bastard. He is, yeah. Oh, God. I don't know if I'll go if Eli's going, you know. It might be too full on. Oh, man.
15:15G-Lane:Oh, that'll be all right, I mean. He's fine. He's fine most of the time.
15:19Mogey:Yeah, but it's on the fire water, though.
15:20G-Lane:Yeah, I know.
15:22Mogey:All right, Catherine, you hold the line, all right? You're in the draw. Oh, that's wicked. Thank you. No, thank you. Thanks, mate. Another chance to potentially get yourself in the draw later on in the show. Listen out. And when you hear that cue to call you, ring us on 0800 at Hauraki.
15:34G-Lane:Yeah, great stuff.
15:35Mogey:In the meantime, here's Arctic Monkeys. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
15:42G-Lane:Faith No More there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this glorious Friday afternoon. Let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue?
15:57G-Lane:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
16:04Jase:I didn't watch any of them.
16:07G-Lane:I believe, eyes to the front, Keezy, this section is called What's on the Tally with Me, Mike Minogue. No, it's not. Oh. I had a funny situation last night because, as mentioned earlier, my daughter came over from Australia. We were chatting away and I said, well, let's watch a bit of TV there.
16:29Mogey:Come all day from Australia or we'll just watch tally.
16:31G-Lane:No, but we'd been talking for a few hours and her Australian accent was just throwing me off.
16:36Mogey:That's enough, Chad. Have you seen the show I Survived?
16:40G-Lane:And seriously, this is without a word of a lie. I would choose a show and my daughter would crack up. And she'd go, oh, okay, we're going to watch that, is it? And I was like, oh.
16:49Mogey:Why did you choose Talkback?
16:55Mogey:Which, for those that don't know, is the show that Mike and Jase wrote and made together.
16:59Jase:Which is unbelievable. Constantly getting stopped in the streets about that.
17:02Mogey:Yeah, it's on TVNZ, by the way. Talkback, give it a search.
17:05Jase:Season two coming soon. Yeah man
17:09G-Lane:Without a word of a lie Went through about five different shows And every show I put on she just thought was hilarious Right And I was like Laugh it up Okay So I like a bit of fantasy Oh yeah So I like a bit of sci-fi You know what I'm saying Right But anyway we ended up on this one show I can't even remember what it was called now But it was just two dudes banging each other That's the one Heated rivalry Oh no It's called How it is to be a girl Oh Oh
17:41Mogey:Is that on TVNZ? Yes it is
17:43G-Lane:I saw the thumbnail for that It's actually pretty good But there was a lot of sex Which was awkward
17:51Mogey:So you just put that on When you and your daughter Just bonding We'll just chuck this on We'll just watch this
17:55G-Lane:This is true too This particular daughter And it happens when my wife Is with us as well Every time she comes over And we watch something It always ends up being Full on sex scenes It's because you're choosing it It's kind of a running joke now that whenever she turns up, her parents put on weird, you know.
18:11Jase:So this time was what it feels like for a girl. Yes. Shockingly, there was some sex scenes in it.
18:18Mogey:Yes. Yes. I'm actually like, because last night I didn't watch anything, fellas. I had a bath. I was in the bath for an hour and a half.
18:27Jase:Do you get naked when you get in the baths or do you leave your T-shirt on in case your wife walks in?
18:31G-Lane:He does wear the arm floaties just in case he nods off and goes under.
18:37Mogey:I wear arm floaties in the bar. If anyone here wears arm floaties in the bar, that's you, Jase. No, I, yeah, good question, Mike. Thanks, man. No T-shirt. No T-shirt. Singlet.
18:49Jase:Wow. Oh, yeah. Well, you've got to cover the necks. You've got to chill out.
18:51Mogey:Yeah, singlet and jocks.
18:52Jase:If she walks in, you just go.
18:55Mogey:Well, no, she doesn't walk in because I lock the door. You're good. Oh, yeah, fair enough. And put, like, the rubbish bin up against it. Because I can't have her coming in and seeing me naked. Like, that's just not good. No, no, not when you're Volneys. Nah, and I am Volneys. Yeah, you are. It's funny because, you know, I forgot I did this when I was a kid. Like, when you get quite cold, you're sort of lying, looking up at the ceiling. Yes. You get kind of cold on one side, so you, like, roll over, and you're sort of scrunched up a wee bit, and you're sort of half submerged, and then you roll over and then submerge the other half of your body.
19:28Jase:I just fill the bath up. Insane.
19:32Mogey:Anyway, I need a book recommendation. Oh, yeah. You guys read, eh? Heaps, man. Yeah. Heaps. Because next weekend, my wife and I are going on a bit of a romantic weekend away and off the grid. And we're away for three nights. So I was like, oh, I wouldn't mind reading a book. I haven't read one in a while. Yes. Any recommendations?
19:50G-Lane:Perfect for just a casual holiday read getaway sort of scenario. Dillys, Dongs and Dudes. It's a memoir. By who? Patricia, I can't remember the last name, to be honest. I never remember the title, other authors.
20:08Mogey:Is it fiction or non-fiction?
20:10G-Lane:It's non-fiction. It's a memoir.
20:12Jase:Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah. Fascinating. Moggy? I'm reading Brad Thorne's autobiography at the moment. It's really good. Yeah, that's bound to get the romance flying around. Well, you're reading the book, right? You're not reading it to your wife.
20:26G-Lane:Well, if you want the romance, dillies, dongs and dudes. Yeah. It's not really romance, though. It's getting into it.
20:37Mogey:The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
20:46G-Lane:It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday throbber. Douche douche. Yes. Got him. Shot, Jase. I nearly forgot that again. Just in that last second popped into my brain.
20:58Jase:Oh, thank God.
20:59G-Lane:Now, I hear a lot of people out in the wider ether there saying, what the hell is a Friday Throbber?
21:04Mogey:Have you heard them say that?
21:05G-Lane:Yeah, I've heard them say it. Who says that? Friday Throbber is where each of us here in the studio pick a song to kick off your Friday celebrations. Then you give us a call on 0800-HODAKI and tell us which Throbber you want to play out in the first of two wins. How good.
21:20Mogey:I like the Throbber.
21:23Jase:Deuce, deuce. I'll go first. You want to go first, Moggy? Bit of an old classic, fellas, you know what I mean? Let's go.
21:40Mogey:Love is a burning thing And it makes a fiery ring It's going to be thrombing at the old folks' home if that wins. Yeah, boys, that's a sing-along that bastard. Was that Johnny Cash? Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire, baby. Don't you call him Johnny Dog Squad money? Jase? Jase?
22:03Jase:What did you go for, Keezy?
22:05Mogey:Oh, I went for a great tune from Amel and the Sniffers. Oh, nice. Australia there.
22:27Mogey:Aussie punk rockers, man.
22:28Jase:They go good. They're great. I really like her. It's just the music over there. Well, I'm actually the opposite. Right, you like the music. You don't like her. I don't like her voice. Yeah, Australian.
22:39G-Lane:She's Australian, isn't she? So that's the problem you've got with your daughter.
22:42Jase:Yeah.
22:43Mogey:You don't like her voice?
22:44G-Lane:No, my daughter's a lovely voice.
22:47Mogey:No, I'm talking about Amel and the... Your daughter's not on the Friday Throbber.
22:51G-Lane:Well, as I just stated very clearly, no, I don't like her voice.
22:55Mogey:Who did you choose, Jase? Because I hate their voice. Who is it?
22:57G-Lane:Well, here's the thing. Here we go. I haven't played this band in a long, long... Oh, God. You guys used to give me jip.
23:04Jase:No, we didn't used to. We still do. Deftones. Here we go. No.
23:13G-Lane:The National. Shame.
23:20G-Lane:I don't need you. I don't need you. Matt's got a great voice. So there you go.
23:31Mogey:I mean, that's pretty down, Buzz. I hate his voice, by the way.
23:34G-Lane:He's got a great voice, Matt Berenger.
23:36Mogey:Mogi's chosen a song for the old folks, and Keezy's chosen a throbber. Let us know what you want, New Zealand. Give us a call on 0800-HAURAKI.
23:43G-Lane:In the meantime, this is a throbber. I'm a bit of rage.
23:48Mogey:The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Horaki.
23:57G-Lane:It's the Horaki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Douche, douche. Keezy won't even look at me because he doesn't want to give me a little heads up. He doesn't, does he? He wants me to miss the douche, douche.
24:11Jase:You're nailing it, too, Jase. Same as me. I don't look at you either.
24:15G-Lane:The good news is, fellas, we just had a throbber. You know what I'm saying? Thanks.
24:20Mogey:So that'll make up for if your one wins, is what you're saying.
24:22G-Lane:Or any of ours wins. No, mine rules me. Mine is a thromber. As I say, her voice annoys me.
24:29Mogey:Why, because it's a female singer?
24:31G-Lane:No. Well, that's what you're saying. It's the way she sounds when she sings.
24:35Mogey:Oh, her accent.
24:37G-Lane:Mogi went for this.
24:46Jase:This is the kind of thing that you would come home at, you know, 10.30, Keezy after a huge night. Absolutely hammered and singing your lounge.
24:55Mogey:Yeah, 100%. And usually those songs do not go down well with the audience.
24:59Jase:Johnny Cash. Oh, he's bagging mine. Asterix for Keezy. Ring of Fire. No good, Keezy.
25:04Mogey:I chose a tune from Amal and the Sniffers, a great punk rock band from Australia. Yeah.
25:24I know my words.
25:26Mogey:Righto. Listen to that. It's actually throbbing. You all right, Jase? Clearing your throat in the middle of the old throbber there? Yeah, good thanks, mate. I went for a bit of the old national.
25:47G-Lane:I don't need you. I don't need you. All right. So let's let the people decide. Yeah, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Dylan, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, Dylan. How are you? Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good, thanks, mate. What are you running with there, Dylan?
26:02Mogey:No, I've got to go with Mogey.
26:03G-Lane:Yeah, absolutely, mate.
26:04Jase:You've got great taste. I've always said that about you, brother. You're a mad dog. All right.
26:10G-Lane:G'day, Andrew, you mad bastard. How's life? Good, thanks, mate. Good, good. Good on you, mate. I was going to get it, too. What are you running with there, Andrew?
26:18Jase:Sniffers all the way, mate. Yeah, good on you, Andrew. You're a good man. You're a good man. Get off your head, man.
26:24G-Lane:G'day. Oh, Sam, you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, it's well, fellas. How are you? Yeah, good on you, Sam. Good on you, Sam. What are you running with there, Sam?
26:34Jase:Oh, the best of the worst, mate. Got to be old Mogey. Yeah, get in here, fellas. The listeners love it, Keezy. No matter how you try and talk them down, man, they get it. They just get it. Oh, God. An absolute throbber here for you. Friday afternoon, guys. Guys, just sit back and enjoy it. No, but would you call it a throbber? Absolute throbber. What do I call it? Sing along. It's not a throbber. Guys, guys. It's not the national either. Guys, let's not fight amongst ourselves. The people have spoken. It's not a throbber. Also, hang on, Jase.
27:10Mogey:I am very much in agreeance with you, but this is very much pot kettle throbber right now because you never choose throbbers. Hi. That's true. He's got you there. I always choose throbbers. Doos, doos, doos, doos. Oh, God. Johnny Cash on coast. I mean, Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
27:29G-Lane:There you go there. Ring of fire, Johnny Cash. Is your Friday throbber fjellows?
27:34Mogey:It's interesting on 3483, which is the text number. Feel free to give your opinions as well. People are kind of enjoying the Johnny Cash. Cranking this absolute throbber, you mad bastards. old Hoody J wouldn't know what he's on about. That's from Donnie.
27:47Jase:Yeah, that's right. That sounds about right. Right across the board. Age 93.
27:51Mogey:Great work, Mogey. This is my favourite song. Put me in such a happy mood for Fri-yay Bearsies.
27:56Jase:Well, that's what it's all about. That's why I chose it. Glad you enjoyed it. No worries. Yeah, it's from Dion. Anything else here, man? Age 87. This one here. Afternoon, fellas. Great throbber, Mogey. Really butted my parsnips. A very old song. Absolutely loving it. This one here. Johnny Cash is a frigging backbone, you throbbers. Oh, he is a backbone. I agree with that. Absolutely unanimous, except for you guys. Anyway.
28:17Mogey:No, it's all G, man. Don't have feelings, eh, fellas? The good news is, Mogi, with that win, you are now tied with me four wins apiece. Way out in front this year on the old Friday throbber there. Great stuff. Jase is way back looking in the old rear view mirror. I can just make him out behind us. He's on three wins.
28:39G-Lane:I'm losing touch, fellas. I'm losing touch there. What do you mean? You've never had touch. But, you know, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
28:46Mogey:Yeah, man, 100%. But 3483, please do give feedback on the Friday throbber. Is Johnny Cash a throbber? Because it's interesting. I do love that song. And I do listen to Johnny Cash a lot. Right. But then I go, oh, better not play it on Horaki. Yeah. Because people want some rock.
29:01Jase:Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that's the thing. It's mixing up as well because I've been going through it and I go, am I going to go Prodigy again? Am I going to go Metallica again? Am I going to go Rage again? Am I going to go Pendulum again? Do you know what I mean? Yeah. I'm just going to mix it up, man. Yeah. Next week's going to be John Farnham, The Voice. I just go, I don't know, that'll do. That's it. That's why you're so far back.
29:21Mogey:What do you want, three wins? Oh, that's embarrassing. Three. Here's the Black Keys. The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Kesey. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
29:34G-Lane:The Killers there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 26 minutes past five o 'clock.
29:42Jase:Fellas. Fellas, as you know, I've had a bit of a bad run of luck with my vehicles, one of which is I've got a flat tyre and my push bike. Yes. My push bike, Helene 10-speed from 1976, the same year I was born, Keezer. You're the dragon, brother. Oh, that's so cool. Dragon D's nuts. Well, they are massive.
30:02Mogey:You stoked with that?
30:04Jase:It's a good start to the break. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, I thought I'd better get it fixed, and I didn't have a puncture repair kit, but right around the corner from the office I found out. I'd forgotten about it, is a bike shop. So I took my 10 speed for a walk. You pushed my bike. You pushed bike. Round there to the shop there. And I thought I'll get it fixed, but I'll also buy a puncture repair kit so I can have that for the next time I blow out, which won't be far away. So I went in there, I said, I've got a flat tyre. And the guy goes, oh, God, it's pretty old, isn't it? And I was like, yeah. And he goes, I don't think I've got any of those, I don't think we've got any of those tyres.
30:40Jase:and I said, oh, I don't need a new tyre. And he goes, oh, sorry, sorry, no, I mean inner tube. And then he walked off out the back to see if he had any of the inner tubes. And I was thinking, well, I don't need an inner tube either. I just need the puncture fix, which is you put a little thingy over the top of it there. Like a patch. Yes. A patch over the top of it. Take your five minutes, you lazy bastard. Comes back out. I said, I don't need that. I just need the puncture repaired. He goes, oh, we don't do that. We only replace the tyres now. I said, so there's nothing wrong with the tube. It could easily be fixed, but you don't do that.
31:17Jase:You fix bikes here? Yeah, we fix bikes here, but you don't fix tyres. No, we just replace them. So my question for you is where have all the men gone? What has become of the world? It's PC gone mad. Well, I don't know if it's PC gone mad. It's racism is what it is. No, I don't know if it's any of those. It's sexism. Is it woke? It's woke. But what is going on there? If that guy is there all day, why doesn't he just fix a goddamn tyre?
31:42Mogey:Well, I mean, I guess every bike nowadays has pretty standardised tyres and tubes. And then off from the street walks some dude with a 50-year-old bike.
31:53Jase:But then he immediately sold me, which I already had. And he said, I can sell you one of those puncture repair kits. And he goes, that's it, which I picked up off the counter. So you can fix a puncture. You can fix it. It's so easy to do. So my question is, you know, and that place fixes bikes. That's what they do. They've got a repair shop out there. So I just think, like, why aren't you fixing it, man? You know what disgusts me? I know what does, but we can't talk about it on the radio. Does it bug you? We've become a throwaway society.
32:29G-Lane:Thank you. You know, I was telling a little story a little while back, Mogi, about a coffee machine. Yes. And we took it in and it was just leaking a little bit. Yes. And it was like, oh, we just come in to get it fixed up. And it's like, oh, don't, just get another one. Yeah. And it was like, oh, it seems like it's only probably a small little thing.
32:48Mogey:An O-ring.
32:49G-Lane:Yeah, it might be an O-ring.
32:51Mogey:An O-ring.
32:52G-Lane:An O-ring.
32:53Mogey:Uh-oh.
32:54G-Lane:And, but seriously, we don't really repair them, just get another one. Yeah. And it's like, well, it just seems, and it's quite a booty coffee machine. It seems like such a waste. Straight down a dolphin's gallop. Yeah, just chuck it in the ocean and get a brand new one. You know, it's just like, come on, man. We are drowning in our own filth and rubbish.
33:18Jase:I mean. So, Keezy, where are all the men? You'll know. Where are the dad Keezy's? Thank you.
33:27G-Lane:I just forgot Keezy's. Don. Don Keezy. Where are all the Dons of the world? The fixers. If you wheeled that into Don's workshop, Keezy, Don would have that fixed in a jiffy. A jiffy.
33:38Mogey:No, he doesn't do tyres and that. Oh, he does. He just does replace it. No, he does. You know what he'd say? He'd look you in the eyes and he'd say, Mogey, Mogey, Mogey. This is what he does. And he'd say, why don't you just get a car?
33:53Jase:Yeah, but no. And this, at the moment, Keezy, your old man, would not say that. The problems we're having with gasoline, oil. No, he still would. He's not a scumbag. No, he wouldn't. He'd be like, why don't you think so lowly of your very own father?
34:07Mogey:Why don't you get a V8 is what Dad would say. Yeah. Where are all the men?
34:16Jase:Where are they? Let's ask the woman out there. Where are all the men? Can you find any men out there?
34:22Mogey:Are there any men out there anymore? 3483. Because there's nothing here. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
34:31G-Lane:Yes, indeed, the Arctic Monkeys here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time is 41 minutes past five o 'clock.
34:40Mogey:Time to chat footy with me, Keithy. What are the Warriors up to? I'll tell you what the Warriors are doing. They're getting ready to run out onto Mount Smart Stadium just over three and a bit hours. Taking on the Tigers. It was wet overnight. It is now nice and dry. It's been a beautiful day here, fellas. So I'm anticipating fast-running footy. The Waz. I was listening to a podcast earlier today, a great podcast, and they were saying that the three scores that the Waz have put together, 120-plus points over the opening three games, the most points any team has scored in the opening three games in over 20 years, not just the Waz.
35:18Mogey:Yeah, that's right. Crazy.
35:19G-Lane:That's amazing, actually. That's an amazing stat.
35:22Mogey:It is amazing. And, Jase, now's your chance, man. You hopping on?
35:26G-Lane:Nah. Nah.
35:28Mogey:You're not hopping on. You're anti-WAS?
35:29G-Lane:No. Hate the WAS. I don't hate them. It's just that, you know, it's just your classic story. This is our year. Yeah, it's a classic story once every 20 years. And they're going great guns at the moment. It'll fall apart.
35:41Mogey:What's your prediction for this weekend's game?
35:45G-Lane:WAS 100%.
35:45Mogey:What, to win?
35:46G-Lane:Yeah.
35:49Mogey:He's on to us. Because we clip his audio and then we play it back to him on Monday. We do. We do. And so now he's not letting us do that.
35:56Jase:Well, you say you do that, but you haven't done it yet. No, well, that was the plan that was in the chat today. We've got to clip him up. Yeah, do. We've got to clip him up. So what's your score prediction, though?
36:05G-Lane:The Waz 13 under. 12 under? 12 under, is it? Yeah, yeah. Is that how you do it, is it?
36:11Jase:Yeah, I'll go Waz 13 plus. I'll go Waz 30 plus.
36:16Mogey:Yeah, to be honest, man, the Tigers are without their main playmaker or one of their two main playmakers. To be honest, the other guy's pretty iffy as well. Adam Dewey had a hamstring injury. They've come over to New Zealand. They are not a very good side at the moment. The Waz are the opposite. They are playing amazing at the moment. I think, especially because it's dry, I think the Waz are going to beat them by at least 20.
36:37Jase:Yeah, I mean, it'd be interesting, won't it? Because, of course, Tanner Boyd and Luke Metcalfe, who returns, comes back into six instead of his preferred seven. They've never, ever played together. Yeah, you're right. So that could have an influence. Tanner Boyd and Luke, is it Hanson? Is that his name?
36:52Mogey:Luke Hanson down the cup there.
36:53Jase:Yep, they played 15 games together last year. And, of course, Tanner Boyd played with CHD prior to that. So that combination will be interesting. It might mean we're a little bit rusty.
37:04G-Lane:That was my reasoning. That combo has never played together before, fellas. Which combo? Thus, Metcalf and Tanner Boyd. And so that's why I went 12 and under.
37:15Mogey:Yeah, right, right, right. It's an interesting thing, fellas, because we've teamed up with Betcher to run this thing called the Radio Haraki Potheads Pot. Now, I didn't know what this was. Someone came over and was like, Keezy, you keen to run a pot? And I was like, hell yeah. And then they were like, yeah, like for Betcher? And I was like, oh, wait. And then they were like, what were you thinking? And I was like, oh, no, don't worry about it. It doesn't matter. Eyes to the front, both of you. Basically, the way it works is you can buy into this pot on the Betcher app. It's called Hauraki Potheads.
37:44Mogey:And then I will be placing the bet with everyone's money tonight just before the game. Yes.
37:49Jase:Yeah.
37:49Mogey:It is a high-pressure environment. There's people on there already chirping me, giving me advice. And it's, yeah, I'm starting to freak out because the pot is currently over$1 ,200.
38:00G-Lane:Can you bet it all on one bet? I could, yeah. But you can do whatever you want with it.
38:06Mogey:I can do whatever I want. I'm a very cautious person. No, you can't have any, Mo. Can I have a little bit? Sure, if you jump in there. If you do want to jump in there, download the Betcher app, jump into BetSocial and use the invite code BACKBONE to join the pot. You can also interact with us there and chirp me mainly, which is what everyone's doing in the chat. So much pressure. I think I'm going to go like very safe and you can break it up. I think I'm going to go like Warriors 13 plus. I think I'm going to maybe go for like put a wee bit on Metcalf to score a try in his first game back. Just a vibe.
38:34Mogey:You know, just a good vibe.
38:35Jase:It's a tricky one, Keezy, because, you know, you're playing with other people's money.
38:41Mogey:100%. You don't know much. No, I know nothing.
38:45Jase:So it's going to be shocking if you failed at this.
38:49Mogey:Yeah, no doubt. You guys will let that slide. But as I say, if you want to join in, download the Betcher app, jump into BetSocial, use the code Backbone, and then chirp me there. I'm going to shut things off just before the game, maybe about 7.30ish, and then I am going to freak out whilst gambling with other people's money.
39:07G-Lane:Going to have a few beersies tonight, Keezy? 100%. Okay, so that'll sort of relax the frayed nerves a little bit.
39:13Mogey:Potentially. R18, bet responsibly. Yeah, we'll see if I do this ever again. Because at first I was like, yeah, this is great. and then afterwards, jeez, pressure's on.
39:23Jase:Yeah, man. You know what, Abandard, last time he got under this kind of pressure in the race that we had against breakfast there, that relay race? I'm not going to blow a quad. Well, no. I mean, that was psychosomatic. Do you remember that, Jase? I do, yes. It was all on his head. He didn't even blow a quad. It was just the pressure.
39:38Mogey:No, it wasn't the pressure.
39:39Jase:The pressure blew out his quad, imagination-wise. I'd never seen that before.
39:44Mogey:I've still got the crutches, man, in my boot. Oh, you've got the crutches? Yeah.
39:48Jase:Here's ACDC.
39:49Mogey:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
39:56G-Lane:Welcome back, you massive backbones. You are listening to The Big Show on this glorious Friday afternoon, which is brought to you, incidentally, by Toledo's.
40:07Mogey:All the good stuff. No nasties. Try Toledo's today. Toledo's.
40:15Mogey:What's that? You want to try Toledo's? Oh, Toledos.co.nz. It's a natural electrolyte drink. Natural colours and flavours. I just drank the blue one. Did you? Yeah, it was young.
40:25Jase:Is there some in the fridge? There's some in the fridge out there, yeah.
40:27Mogey:Is there? Yeah.
40:28Jase:Okay, great.
40:28Mogey:And it made me feel good. Nobody tells me. Sorry, Jase, we've got to remember to tell Moggy whatever's in the fridge. Okay, yeah, sure.
40:34Jase:Just Toledos, because I've been wanting some cold ones, but there have been no cold ones, you see.
40:38Mogey:Also, the other day when you were like, hey, Keezy, should we have a couple of cold ones?
40:40Jase:Yeah, a couple of coldies. I mean, Toledos. Toledos? Yeah.
40:43Mogey:But you were talking about having like a 12 box of them.
40:45Jase:Yeah, a box. Because if one's good, how good's 12? Yeah, true. And I can never stop myself at just one. Sucking it.
40:51G-Lane:I can tell you fellas, walk into work today in my new boots. She's fair old steamy out there. She's about 24, 25 bloody degrees. Massive hell to get to work. Got to the top of the hill, got into work, went into the fridge, cracked a cold Toledo's. D-douche, hoity, Jay, all sorted.
41:13Mogey:How good. Jase, for some reason, because Jase, if you just joined us, Jase has got brand new boots on. He's been walking everywhere. And all I can picture is you walking around town just... You know? Yes. Listening to this and your skull candies.
41:28Jase:And what I sort of picture as well is you've got your boots on there, but you've got like this, and you're swinging that ass. One of the things, fellas... You're swinging that ass and you're putting out that vibe. Yeah, totally. And you're vaping. And I'm vaping. Flying in people's faces.
41:48G-Lane:Because of all the walking I've been doing, my ass is tight at the moment. She is ping-ping. Doosh-doosh.
41:57Mogey:Your ass is a she? Oh, that's random, isn't it? That's, like, really pervy.
42:03Jase:She? Ping, ping. Dish, dish.
42:09Mogey:What is this show? The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
42:20G-Lane:Yes, indeed. The Foo Fighters there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this glorious Friday afternoon. Now, a bit of sporting action over the weekend coming up. With that in mind, we've got ACC head G-Lane in the studio with us. Lane, explain to me. Explain to me how we go. How to use a computer? Well, I don't need it, man. Okay, sorry. I'm hands-free. What does that mean? He's heard somebody say that. He's heard somebody say that. That's when someone... And it makes no sense. I don't like to be fiddling with things while I'm doing radio, man.
42:52Mogey:Just to pull back the curtain, I mean, Radio Horeki Studios had a big makeover. They've reduced the screens and they've put a brand new computer in front of Jase. Touchscreen. Touchscreen. and all that's happened is you've got something new to put a piece of paper in front of that you stick to the screen.
43:07G-Lane:Yeah, well, it's like a little music stand.
43:09Mogey:Yeah, tens of thousands of dollars spent to upgrade the technology and you've just got a new thing to stick your piece of paper to. Can I also add, just for the future, Jase, someone being hands-free is when they've got a little earpiece on and they're on the phone.
43:20G-Lane:Yes, I'm aware. Okay. Are you? Yes. Now, listen, can I get back to my question? We've got a wedding party at the moment literally posing out in front of the studio.
43:30Mogey:They were having a wedding at the Empire.
43:33G-Lane:Oh, right.
43:34Mogey:I walked into it. I was just having a few pre's before the commentary. They must have met there. Yeah, they must have. There's only one reason why you'd have a wedding at the Empire. But anyway. Can I get back to my question, please? Yeah, what's your question?
43:46G-Lane:How do we go from being T20 World Cup finalists to then losing a T20 series against the South African C team? Because we had our own C team.
44:00Mogey:And I think it's proof that talent is not bottomless, unfortunately for us. And all of our players were away. And no one really cared, did they? No, certainly not. Did you care? I think even the Africans cared, to be honest. It was one of these series that was in the calendar. They ticked the box. Yes. The box was ticked.
44:19G-Lane:And everyone's moved on, unfortunately. Now, listen, in terms of the rugby, absolutely cracking game tonight. Moana, Pacifica. Yep. So V, the Highlanders. And some startling news on that front, where the Highlanders have lost their two All Blacks for injury.
44:40Mogey:They have. Jim Tavitava-Nawai is injured, but Ethan DeGroote, I.M. Groote, is not. He's been given leave for paternity. Is he giving birth, is he? He is smashing out a baby. So I would get on the TAB quite quickly, because Moana Pacifica is still paying$550. They're playing at home. They'll be playing for Tana, who announced that he's going to the All Black Assistant Coach role. Yes. So they'll be a bit on the line playing at home. So that might be worth a look there for Moana Pacifica. So that one's tonight. But also tonight, all whites are playing as well. Oh, who are they playing? Wow. They're playing Finland in a warm-up before the FIFA World Cup because they're obviously off to the FIFA World Cup in America.
45:18Mogey:Are they? Yeah, in June and July. Jesus, Jase, come on. Grow up. Come on, man. Grow up. Sorry, fellas. And then, of course, the Warriors at 8 o 'clock. The Warriors are up. Yeah, so you're going to have to triple screen tonight.
45:29G-Lane:I completely forgot. I'm having dinner with my daughter at 8 o 'clock. My wife was saying, what time do you guys want to go? And my daughter went, 8 o 'clock. Didn't even occur to me that the Waz were playing. Yeah, she knew what she was doing. Yeah, totally. Jason knew what he was doing as well. He hates the Waz. Yeah, he does.
45:44Mogey:He hates sport. He does. Yeah. He hates sport. Am I right in saying, G-Lane, that the ACC crew, a.k.a. Mania and Joe Jury, are currently at Mount Smart? Yeah, they are. Being hosted in a box, getting steamed, watching the wires. And is that them working?
46:01G-Lane:Yeah, unfortunately.
46:02Jase:Right, okay. Well, Joe works very, very hard. So look for them behind the goalposts in the Export Ultra Pavilion.
46:12Mogey:Oh, is that where they are? Yeah, so there you go. Behaving terribly. Free exports? Of course. Yeah, Minari has his yoppers out.
46:18G-Lane:Other matches, re the rugby this week?
46:20Mogey:Yeah, tomorrow night. The other big feature match tomorrow is the Blues versus the Fijian and Drua. And they're playing for the Jolly Vendieri Trophy. Oh, great. A man who obviously played for the Blues and for Fiji as well. And both of those games, G Lane, are broadcast live here on Radio Hauraki. Yep. 7pm. That's right. I'm just next door in the green room just smashing beers, just getting ready for the commentary.
46:43Jase:Responsibly. I'll be staying up late tonight for the Brumbies v Tars. Who you got in that one?
46:47Mogey:Oh, Brumbies will take that one. Yeah. Brumbies have that. Yeah, and the Chiefs are off to Perth as well, but they'll smoke the people of Perth. They'll smoke the Western weakness, we call them.
46:55G-Lane:Great stuff. Well, I'll be tuning into all of that. Yeah.
46:58Mogey:It's live on Radio Hauraki, 7 o 'clock tonight, 7 o 'clock tomorrow, or you can stream it on iHeartRadio no matter where you are.
47:04G-Lane:Good on you, Lane. Okay. Thanks, mate.
47:07Mogey:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
47:11G-Lane:Yes, indeed. She-hard there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening. the time 24 minutes past 6 o 'clock.
47:20Mogey:Good stuff there, Hoity J. Fellas, I've got a bit of a theory. Bit of a theory.
47:25G-Lane:Is it about Jace's boots?
47:27Mogey:It's not to do with Jace's new boots, which are great, by the way.
47:30G-Lane:They're very cool, eh?
47:32Mogey:Go nicely with your new shirt there. But it's about phone chargers.
47:37Jase:Yeah.
47:38Mogey:Mogi, when you charge your phone, do you charge it overnight?
47:41Jase:Yes.
47:42Mogey:So you don't just charge it once it needs charging?
47:44Jase:No, I charge it over the night because it also needs charging. I like to start the day with a charge.
47:49Mogey:Yes, correct. And then whereabouts is your phone when it's charging?
47:51Jase:Beside my bed.
47:52Mogey:Yeah. Jase, do you charge it every night or do you charge it when it needs charging?
47:59G-Lane:I charge it when it needs charging.
48:01Mogey:Yeah, okay. And whereabouts do you charge it? Well, it varies, Kesey. Because my guess is in the kitchen on the bench. Yes.
48:13G-Lane:and in fact i in fact i've never charged it by the bed this is my theory i've got my sex toys charging but not my phone yeah um this is my theory is that for lack of a better term old people charge their phones in the kitchen and they charge it when it needs charging yeah and
48:35Mogey:younger people or people trying to be young like mogie they charge it they plug it in next to their bed because it's probably also their alarm you know and also if there's an emergency your phone's right there and if you need anything or whatever but that's also bad because it means you might
48:49G-Lane:scroll in the middle of the night we well this is the thing we have a rule no phones in the bedroom why is that because you're always in there is that to that that's dark because you're scrolling
49:01Jase:and filth. That's a good rule. Thank you.
49:04G-Lane:So now you just do it in the kitchen. You know what I mean? Because you don't need to have it with you 24-7. No, totally.
49:12Jase:No, it's not that you need it. But yes, you're right, Kezi, I use it as a watch. So when I wake up innumerable times throughout the night, I can check what time it is.
49:23Mogey:You tap it, see what time it is.
49:24Jase:See what time it is. But it also means I start the day with it on charge. I can't be going around whether it's 30 % or...
49:29G-Lane:Yeah. But also, you know, that blue light that you get from the phone is very bad for sleep.
49:34Jase:It ruins your sleep pattern. I'll tell you what, this is my trick. I don't have my phone on while I'm sleeping.
49:40G-Lane:Yes, but when you check it for the thing, the light comes on and it infiltrates your brain. Yeah, it's not a laser. Can I ask you this question then? What is so crazy about charging your phone when it needs charging?
49:58Mogey:There's absolutely nothing about it. There's nothing wrong with it. I just think younger generations are used to having their phones on the middle times. And so, I mean, for me personally, it makes sense to wake up with your phone at 100 % and then at night you go to bed, your phone goes to bed as well. Charge, you both wake up in the morning 100%. Whereas my parents, for example, I noticed there is one PowerPoint in the kitchen of our house back in Tauranga that has a double adapter and three phone chargers plugged into it. Right. Because that's where everyone charges their phones. in the kitchen on that PowerPoint.
50:29Mogey:Right. And you'll come in at like 2 p.m. and Dad will come up into the kitchen and put his phone on charge because he needs to charge it. Whereas if he just charged it overnight every night and plugged it in.
50:39G-Lane:That's right.
50:40Mogey:Yeah. So that was just a theory I had.
50:41G-Lane:Okay.
50:42Mogey:And I didn't preempt you. I knew for some reason, I bet Jase charges his phone in the kitchen. And I bet he charges it when it needs charges. How does that make you feel, Jase?
50:49Jase:He's read you like a book there, man. Sometimes in the lounge. Oh, he's done you there, Keezy. Really? Yeah, sometimes in the lounge. Sometimes in the lounge, yeah. Done you? You look a fool now, Keezy.
50:59Mogey:Yeah, well, that's what? Because you're what? Your wife's phone's plugged into the kitchen one? It might be. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
51:10G-Lane:Yes, indeed. The Stone Temple Pilots here on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening.
51:15Mogey:Fellas, testicular cancer is the number one cancer among young fellers here in New Zealand. It is, however, highly treatable when caught early, but guys just aren't checking, all right? People aren't reaching down there, having a feel to see if they've got a lump. That is why the Lump Lottery has come along. LumpLottery.co.nz. Reach down in your pants there, find a lump, win a ute. That's how the Lump Lottery works. Yeah. It doesn't really, like, you don't have to find a lump to win a ute. It's just go to LumpLottery.co.nz, enter the draw there, and you might win a ute. However, it's just trying to get that awareness and a reminder to check for lumps.
51:51Jase:It is an interesting one because I often reach down there, I often have a feel, but I never look for a lump. Yes.
51:57Mogey:What are you usually looking for?
51:58Jase:Nothing. You're just rummaging. Well, I know what I'm looking for, but I know what I'm finding. I'm not looking for anything. I know what's there. What are you looking at? It's always the same. Yeah, yeah. Nothing. I'll be looking around the room.
52:09G-Lane:Well, I'm personally grossed out by what's down there, so I'll get a mate to check it for me, for example. You know what I mean? Yeah, right. Which you helped me with yesterday, Keezy, and I appreciate it.
52:18Mogey:Yeah, it was.
52:18G-Lane:You said it was like a couple of pool balls.
52:21Mogey:Yeah, a couple of pool balls, I said. Yeah, don't forget, lumplottery.co.nz. Make sure you check yourself, right, because it's highly treatable if caught early.
52:29G-Lane:Oh, it's easy. Speaking of health, fellas, something happened today in the hodaki offices that disgusted me. Disgusted me. Old Fincaddy, who works for the ACC. Mash. Mashie, as he's otherwise known, came into the office there, and he'd been outside, and he was holding a vape, and he gave it across the table back to Big Dilly. Oh. And it was Big Dilly's vape. And I said, what? So Mashie had Big Dilly's vape. Mashie had Big Dilly's vape. And I said, hang on here, Dilly. You're not sharing your vape, are you? That's bloody disgusting. Yeah. And he was like, yeah, we all share our vapes. That's gross, eh?
53:12G-Lane:I can't think of anything more. I remember when I was down in Dunedin once and we were doing a show down there and I had a vape and all the students down there were like, can I have a suck on your vape, Jase?
53:24Mogey:It's like an unspoken thing.
53:25G-Lane:Yeah, and I was like, oh, I suppose so. And people were sucking it. And it ended up with everyone else's saliva in it and you'd suck on it and it would be literally gurgling with saliva. And I was like, oh, oh. Do you got a weird agreement here? That's foul. That's disgusting. Yeah. About three or four of them all use Dilly's vape.
53:44Jase:I wouldn't share someone else's fork. You wouldn't share a fork? Can I borrow your fork? Yes. Can I just stick down in my mouth? Yeah, I don't know. I think it's weird. It's weird because of that saliva thing that you talk about. As soon as you mentioned that, I was like, I don't have saliva in it. Would you guys? We used to share cigarettes all the time.
53:59G-Lane:Well, I did think about that. But it was different somehow. It was different.
54:04Jase:And I would, especially early doors when people would, we used to call it Lake Taupo, although in those days we'd call it Lake Taupo, where people didn't really know how to smoke cigarettes and they might be pissed off and they'd give it back to you and the filter would be soaked in wet. Sodden, yes. Chuck it out. Disgusting. Yeah, foul. So you had told people, dry your bloody lips if you're going to have a puff. Back in the day, as you got older, you got better at it.
54:29G-Lane:That's absolutely right, because there used to be a sense of shame if you gave back a sock. Oh, there was.
54:34Jase:And it was like, what? If somebody called you out and you'd made it wet, oh, what a loser.
54:38G-Lane:I remember once in my life, I shared a marijuana cigarette.
54:43Mogey:I hope not. That's illegal.
54:45G-Lane:You know, we did that sort of stuff back in the day. and same thing again. You don't sod in the end of what you're smoking. But the idea of sharing a vape is disgusting.
54:58Mogey:Yeah. I agree. Yeah, I 100 % agree. Also, the idea of saying you've given up vaping but you're lying is disgusting. Oh, man.
55:05G-Lane:Well, that's another thing. Don't even get me started on that.
55:08Mogey:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
55:20G-Lane:Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big show done and dusted for you Friday and indeed for the week. What's the podcast outro clip we have today, Keezy?
55:31Mogey:This podcast comes out at 7.30 tonight, as does a highlights package of the entire show. So if you missed any of it, search Haraki Big Show. Today's clip is entitled Ingredients.
55:41G-Lane:I told you what she said to me. One day when she was in a horror of a mood about the food, She was like, this house is just full of f***ing ingredients. And I was like, well.
55:55Jase:Which is one of the all-time greats to her credit. There's nothing ready to eat. They're all ingredients. That's good.
56:01G-Lane:And I said, well, use the ingredients and make some of it. That was Alison Holst. Yes. Was it Alison Holst? Yeah, yeah. She came around. She used to hang out all the time at my place. She's a mad bastard. Is she? She actually is. Yeah. She actually is. Yes. Mogey, wahs tonight I'm picking.
56:20Jase:Oh, absolutely up the wahs tonight. And hopefully for a little, hoping for a little bit of a relaxed weekend. Although my daughter's got what they call, they've got some kind of a thing, an event. I think it's a fundraiser. Who knows? It is a fundraiser, in fact, but it's on Sunday and it goes all day. Right, at her school? Yeah. Right, yes. Yeah, yeah. So I'll be, you know. Bored. Oh, no, I'll be loving it, Kees. You've got to give back. You've got to give back, brother. Come on, man. That's shocking for you, bro.
56:46Mogey:I'm trying to read between the lines there, but got that way off.
56:49G-Lane:Keezy. Hello, burrito mints. Don't even. Now, I can see you... Watching the waas. Watching the waas and pounding the beers.
56:59Mogey:Not beers. I'm going to stop and get a bottle of Pinot Noir on the way home. I think you're going to have a quiet one tonight, eh?
57:04Jase:Very quiet one. Tomorrow night's a biggie. You've got a big one tomorrow night. Out of town, mates in town.
57:08Mogey:Yeah. And he's friends with Mania and his partner and my wife, and we're going to go out for dinner and have a big one. Yeah, yeah. Responsibly.
57:15G-Lane:I'm picking two big ones.
57:17Mogey:Are you?
57:17G-Lane:Yeah.
57:19Mogey:I'm going to make a balls joke, but I can't be bothered. Yeah, I can't be bothered. That's all right.
57:22G-Lane:Poole balls.
57:24Mogey:Hey, Chase, what are you up to tonight, man?
57:26G-Lane:Well, I'm going out to dinner with my daughter, which will be very nice. But unfortunately, I will miss the wahs.
57:33Jase:Can you do a review, please? Yes, I will. Thank you. And you can read it on Monday.
57:39G-Lane:Hey, check out the Instagram. Check out the podcast. Till Monday. See you later. You
