In short

The hosts chat about pizza (fast-food vs gourmet healthiness), a missed “pizza party” in Christchurch that turned into a noodle/soup night, hangover recovery, travel plans (Europe/Vietnam), and upcoming guest Jeremy Piven’s stand-up tour. They also do light banter about pronunciation (“German for a start”), and end with promo for the Big Show podcast and social channels.

Guests

No guests appear in this outro segment. Jeremy Piven is mentioned as an upcoming guest (stand-up tour; he already visited earlier today and is comfortable with the space). Hosts: “Pugs” and “Hoody Joe” (radio co-hosts).

Key claims/examples

Gourmet wood-fired pizza may be healthier than Domino’s/Pizza Hut due to fewer additives, simpler toppings, and thinner crust; Christchurch plans were derailed by a noodle soup party at Little High; Vietnam in late Feb/early March is steamy for one host; hangovers can last 2–3 days for the older host.

0:00Can you hear yourself? Yeah, so good, pugs. Oh, cool. For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Or raw dog it. Four to seven every weekday on Radio Horete.

0:20Jason Hoyte:G'day, Stallion. How's life? So good, man. I'm so happy to be here. I am grateful for this job. I'm grateful for you.

0:29Keyzie:You actually sound like someone that's not grateful for all those things and you're just trying to find positives to sort of cling on to. Do I sound facetious?

0:37Jason Hoyte:You sound like you're taking the piss, Pugs. Oh, really? No, I genuinely mean it. I'm just letting you know that with that massive hoity Joe sigh at the start.

0:45Keyzie:Yeah, I'll talk about that on the show because I found a new word for that, for my sign.

0:50Jason Hoyte:Yeah, I'm interested to hear your pronunciation of sign words.

0:52Keyzie:Yeah, well, it's German for a start. And we might have to Google it or go on, what's it? To get the pronunciation right.

1:01Jason Hoyte:Oh, yeah, we can do that. We can play that out on the show. Siri, what's it called? You could just do it in Google Translate, I think. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm just on Google there. Random question. Like, do you ever get Domino's or Pizza Hut? One of those, like, fast food pizza joints?

1:16Keyzie:My daughter does. All the time. On my card. Without my permission. Don't get me started, pugs. I'll go through the – what the bloody hell's this? And it's my daughter, Domino's, Uber.

1:32Jason Hoyte:$7.99?

1:33Keyzie:Yeah, something like that. Beef and onion?

1:38Jason Hoyte:So you went there versus going to like a gourmet bar or restaurant. Like, for example, the fellas over in Italy at the moment. Yeah, and you got a pizza from like a restaurant like that. Yes. Is that considered healthier than, this might be a dumb question, like is that healthier or less in carbs or whatever than your fast food ones? Or is it just all pizza that has cheese and oil on it, you know? That feels like the sort of, you see, this is where we miss the feels.

2:13Keyzie:Because you know at this point, Moggy would be getting out his little. Oh, chat GPT? Chat GPT. I've got chat GPT. And he'd be telling you the exact answer to that. I would assume my assumption on that would be that your Domino's is pretty cheap and nasty. And that they're not using quality ingredients as opposed to, say, a restaurant that you would assume, and I don't know if this is a fact or not, but would be using better quality produce. You know what I'm saying, Pugson?

2:46Jason Hoyte:Yes, I know what you're saying, and I am going to ask Chad, as I like to call him. Yes. and go mogi styles here. So this is saying a gourmet wood-fired pizza can be healthier than pizza from fast food chains like Domino's or Pizza Hut, but depends on the factors. So the reasons that it may be healthier, fewer additives and preservatives, simpler toppings, thin crust, so less dough. Do you go thick crust? I'm always a thin crust fella. I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to that stuff. Yeah, you are. I do like a thin stretch. You just shove it in your gob and just hoe into it. Just whatever it is.

3:20Jason Hoyte:You're a beast. Get it down the back of me.

3:22Keyzie:I tell you what, speaking of pizza, I was really upset with you fellas when we went down to Christchurch off late for our last gig. Prebleton. Prebleton. And I was really looking forward to the fellas having another pizza party in Pugsans' room or my room. Yeah. And you guys ditched me, man. I had my jammies on. Yeah, yeah. I was ready to order the pizzas.

3:49Jason Hoyte:Sure.

3:49Keyzie:And you reprobate, didn't get back till like three or four in the morning.

3:53Jason Hoyte:What we had was a noodle party, a noodle soup party out at Little High in Christchurch. Good little multi-restaurant spot there. What do you mean multi? Like there's almost like a food court, like sort of boutique-y. And it was Bec Sandy's, Minaya, Keezy, my mate Connor who works in Christchurch and then me and we got dinner. And you were welcome to come, but you left the OB immediately as per. Well, saying to you guys. Getting escorted out like the president to Air Force One.

4:25Keyzie:You know. Yeah. I'll see you back for the pizza party, fellas. You can come to my room. And it was like, yeah, yeah, man, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Meanwhile, I fell asleep. I mean, picture if you will, I didn't hear anything. I waited for hours and kept checking my phone.

4:43Jason Hoyte:You're in your little PJs and you peek out the curtain there to see if the fellas, every time you hear a car, you're like, are the fellas getting, is that the fellas? You know. Shit, I better heat up the pizza again.

4:55Keyzie:And so in the end, you know, I just sort of lay on my bed there and jacked it and fell asleep. You know what I'm saying? Because the fellas let me down, man.

5:06Jason Hoyte:Yeah. I literally got in my door. So after that, we went out to a pub, met up with another couple of mates and then went back to our pal's house, which Chris talked about already. and then I got into my room and just bust through the front door and just got into bed and I woke up and I was like, fuck, it's cold. I'm freezing. This place has got terrible insulation. Left my front door open. Yeah. How good. How good. That's never happened to me in my life. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast.

5:42Keyzie:And I was trying to recall the next morning. You didn't?

5:45Jason Hoyte:I was sweet as the next morning.

5:47Keyzie:Yeah, it's interesting. Well, because you're still young pugs. You know what I mean? You're still in that age where you can get away with a hangover. Yes. You can't at my age. No. It tends to go for two or three days.

5:58Jason Hoyte:Yeah. Oh, don't get me wrong.

6:00Keyzie:Do get you wrong or don't get you wrong?

6:05Jason Hoyte:Don't get me wrong. It still gets me if it's like, for example, after Magic Round, for example, where it was. Oh, God. Something like that. Like, I felt that for a couple of days. And, like, I'm not young, you know. Mogi was ruined after that. You remember that? He was a shocker. And rightfully so. Yes. With his action over there. I can't imagine what he's going to be like when he gets back from Europe or after Oasis. Yeah. Well, that's if he gets back, man.

6:34Keyzie:Yeah, that's true. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But I must say, I am enjoying the fellas' Insta posts there. God, it looks fucking beautiful, doesn't it? It does look beautiful. Moe is it, yeah. Where is he now? He's in Spain.

6:46Jason Hoyte:I believe so, yeah.

6:47Keyzie:Yeah, yeah. So that's certainly going to be on my wish list at some point, the old Europe tour. When did you go to – you went to Vietnam in February, right? Yeah. Well, March. March. Okay, so their winter ends in March. The very beginning of March feels like a fucking long time ago.

7:05Jason Hoyte:Yeah. So their winter ends in March. and I'm figuring out where I'm going to go and I was talking to a mate today who went in late Feb. To where, Vietnam? To Vietnam. Yes. And he was cold as fuck while he was over there. But I don't believe that was the case for you.

7:21Keyzie:No, it was steamy as, man. It was steamy as. I'd go Feb, March.

7:26Jason Hoyte:Yeah. So I think we're looking at – Is this for your sex tour? Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is for the sex tour. Well, it doesn't really matter what the weather's doing because you're going to be in the parlours all the time. Well, that's not to say there won't be any outdoor action, Jase. That's true. You can't limit yourself to in between four walls.

7:44Keyzie:Well, I guess on those sort of tours you can do what you want, can't you? Exactly. Well, that's the point. That's the point. Let's have a bit of bush business or, you know. A bit of what? A bit of beach action. What was that first one? Bush business. Yeah, nice. And I meant the bush like as in vegetation. Yeah, right. Yeah, sure. God's sake. Hey, how are you faring? We've got Jeremy Piven coming in today.

8:05Jason Hoyte:I know. How good? Listen, I haven't seen Entourage. Neither have I. I've heard incredible things. I'm going to have to absolutely fucking bullshit my ass off. No, but this is the thing. I don't think he's going to give a fuck if we've seen it or not. He's not here to screen Entourage. You know what I mean? All right, man. Just don't go on about it. Sorry, I'm not. I mean, Christ. I've had a hard day, Bugs. I don't need you yelling at me. I'm trying to give you some relief, James. Well, there is a way you could give me relief. Oh, how's that? We'll talk about it off air, man. Oh, yeah, nice. Nice.

8:36Jason Hoyte:I've started the music a little bit early, but that's okay. Yeah, fuck, man. I'm bad for it. No, I don't think he's going to mind. He's here for a stand-up tour and, yeah, he's already been in once today, so he should be a little more comfortable with the space. What, in Taharaki? No, he was up with the Hosk this morning. Okay. Why? Well, that's fine. What? Just, it's fine, Pucks. It sounds fine. It sounds really fine. What's that message?

9:04Keyzie:Anyway, the reason I asked. Auckland Airport parking. Why are they sending me a message? I'm not parking at Auckland Airport. Is it a text? No, it's an email.

9:12Jason Hoyte:Oh, okay. I'll have a look at that. This is like ASMR, Hoody Joe trying to figure out how to log into his phone. He's holding it like the classic boomer sort of action with the phone in one hand and then his pointer finger just swiping stuff away with his glasses looking down his massive honker. Okay, we're going there, are we? If you want to go on your phone in the middle of a podcast, I know you want a show today, man. You're going to go me? I hope so.

9:36Keyzie:Hey, now listen, make sure you do listen to the podcast. We know it's only me and Pug. So we're firing shots.

9:41Jason Hoyte:I need you to stop talking like that. It's so negative.

9:44Keyzie:And, well, it's not the full experience. No, of course it's not.

9:48Jason Hoyte:But people know that three days in, man. Yeah, totally. And check out the Instagram as well. Yeah, absolutely. At Hauraki Big Show. And then the radio show. Good stuff. 47 weekdays on Hauraki. Love your work.
