In short
This episode is an “outro” chat mixing banter, lifestyle talk, and rugby hype. Guests discuss knee-length boots (“fuck me boots” nostalgia), Dry July vs “beer and pie July,” and the cost of drinking (e.g., $140 for four drinks and three tiny tacos). They argue day drinking is fine, but note fewer mates drink now because many have kids.
Key claims
cutting alcohol could save about $2k/week; All Blacks may improve under coach Dave Rennie due to attention to detail and stronger team-community connection (schools, marae, hitchhiking).
Notable examples
Liam Messam’s hitchhiking “cheat” (asking for a ride “with Sonny Bill,” but it was just him). Guests’ identities aren’t clearly stated in the transcript.

0:17Keyzie:Oh, g'day fellas. Pepper. Hello. What's your opinion, fellas, on the knee length boot? Woman or man? Woman. Sweet. It's funny, actually. It immediately brings back a memory. They used to call them back in the day now, put your fingers in the ears of your kids, especially if you're driving. Oh, no. What have I unleashed here? But they used to call them fuck me boots. Oh. Wow. Yeah. A knee-high boot on a woman. Really? You don't remember that? Oh, it's just someone walked past, and I was like, I've always been kind of, it's a bold look. And look, let me just say. You're full of bold looks, Jase.
0:58Keyzie:Yeah, when it comes to bold looks with your boots, Woody J's onto it. Yeah. You're still not wearing them, Jase? Yeah, I wore them today. Oh, did you? Where are they? At home. Just around the house. These are actually them. The house shoes. These are actually them. Those are your bloodstones. No, those are a man's shoe that you're showing up here. These are my boots. No, no. What do you call the other ones? Your heels. My other boots. You're going out boots. They're my bloodstones, yeah. No, those are your blunts, though. I'm reading it. These are a man's boot.
1:33Mike Minogue:Size seven. They're not chaos and harmony, man. That's true. I think, too, with women's, but I have no idea until I see someone wearing it. To be honest, I have no idea. I assume they'd look nice. Who knows? I don't care. Who am I to tell a woman what to wear? We wore them in our hodaki. Why are you always yucking all over their icks?
1:52Keyzie:What do you mean yucking their icks? Video we just did where we were pirates.
1:57Mike Minogue:it someone had knee length boots and it was a fella it was prebs yeah was it yeah fuck yeah but he was putting out the vibes as well though yeah he's a mad dog he honestly he is a mad dog he is i'm doing dry july are you no are you actual well i was because it's beer and pie july well second day have you did you get on the piss already no i'm doing good so far okay But I got an invite come through for a thing on Saturday. A biggie? Yeah, it's a biggie. And my wife told me I have to go to it. Right. She's like the person that makes you fun. You know what I mean? I don't want to be fun. I know. I want to feel good.
2:43Keyzie:I've told you the story of people that I know very, very well. And they were like, oh, you're so boring when you're off the piss. And he'd been off the piss for years. Oh, yeah, yeah. And he got back on it. Yeah, yeah. And he got back on it. Yeah, yeah. Not good. And then she broke up with him. Yeah. But, like, good for a few months there. Yeah, I'm not on that level. No. Thankfully. Yeah, okay. Well. Well, my wife's not in the sense that she loves it. Yeah. Oh, God. It's not easy when your partner enjoys a drink. Well she's not even drinking Because she's doing Dry July Oh she is Yeah yeah yeah But she thinks I should go to it
3:25Mike Minogue:Is it a 50th? Nah nah it's just a bunch of like minded individuals Oh god Yeah
3:31Keyzie:Fucking hell Fucking hell Haggle of Keezes
3:35Mike Minogue:That's right Yeah yeah No no no A chorus of sickos Yeah yeah Mogi's going to a bunch of like minded mogi It's a mogi meet somewhere Yeah Oh definitely But it'd be good I guess it just means I have to pull off for one more weekend. Why don't you do? But I am kind of over it because also the wife has had a film job, which she finds out about that in about a week or so, whether it's leaving the country or not. Yeah. So my thing is, we've just got to knock the piss on the head because straight away we'll save like two grand a week.
4:05Keyzie:Yeah. It ain't cheap. It ain't cheap, man. Well, I told you about that place I went to, which was four drinks and three tiny tacos for$140. What the fuck is that about, man? It's madness.
4:15Mike Minogue:You could lock yourself in with a 12 box of export and a pie. Yeah, and fucking hate yourself. Yeah, but fuck it. It'd be awesome.
4:23Keyzie:Oh, I can't ask that question. How much would you spend a week on Piskiesy from your fun account? Yeah, I'd say fuck all. He's not drinking much at all this year. He's meant to be the fun one out of this group because we're old and we're over it. Oh, he's still giving it a good nudge. I'm the fun one. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
4:39Mike Minogue:You know what the difference is? This year hasn't been as many events to get on the piss for. I've noticed that. You're never hungover on Mondays. No, but that's intentional because I have a podcast to do on Mondays now and then I do TV on Tuesdays. Yeah. So I'm like, unless it's Friday night. I assume it was intentional. Yeah. But no, not really. But nevertheless. There hasn't been that many events. So Pugs, man, somebody's got to get on the piss. Who's it going to be? Well, Pugs is literally massively on the piss. That's true.
5:14Mike Minogue:podcast. It's just been, fuck, honestly all of my mates and shit having kids. They've stopped drinking. So there's no big piss-ups anymore. What's that about? How many of your mates have had kids? Pretty much all of them. You've got no mates up here. You said you've got four mates. I've got four friends up here. There's only one set of friends that doesn't have a kid at the moment. Yes. And that's Mania and Jess. Yeah, I was thinking of them. But you hate hanging out with them. But I fucking hate hanging out with them. Yeah. So outside of that, like, to be fair, down in Christchurch where a lot of our friends have moved and are currently based, there's a lot of people with kids down there who are still pissing up.
5:51Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, that's what you need. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
5:54Mike Minogue:But, like, the right stuff. Day drinking. I love day drinking. Same.
6:00Keyzie:Nothing wrong with that, man. Same. Nothing wrong with that. Yeah. Fill your boots, as they say. Hey, Jizzbot, could I ask you a question, man? Sure, man. Are you excited about the All Blacks this weekend, mate? Yes, I am. Yes, I am. I was, reading a couple of articles today about the vibe in the camp. Fucking hell, that used to... And that Rennie has been fantastic. I heard some good stuff today about the vibe. Yes. I think you might see a bit of a turnaround in this team. Yeah, I think so too. And apparently... Connection, Keezy, connection. His attention to detail... He has an attention to detail that was sadly...
6:38Keyzie:He's like, do your shoelaces up. Sadly missing in the last coaching group. That's right. So that's good.
6:46Mike Minogue:I'm encouraged. I told you guys I was chatting to Brad Webber at Game of Two Halves. No. Because he was coached by Dave Rennie for the first four years of his career. Yes. And I've interviewed Dave a lot, like when I was working at Sky. He was the halfback, eh? That's Mr. Rennie. Correct, yes. Wasn't Rennie the coach? Of the Chiefs, yes, correct. Not the halfback. Brad Webber was the halfback. Oh, was Brad Webber the coach? But anyway, I was like, do you reckon Dave Rennie's the guy for the job? He's like, fuck yeah. Fuck yeah. Absolutely. He's one of the best coaches I've ever had. Yeah.
7:11Keyzie:Well, and also, you know, I know he got booted out of the Australian job, but he was turning Australia around. They were coming good. Yeah, that was a poor administrative decision. Oh, fuck, it was terrible. And then they brought in Jones, and they had that catastrophic World Cup where they just got pummeled. Rugby Union, am I right?
7:31Mike Minogue:So good. But, like, you can put the best coach in the world in charge of the Wallabies if everything around them is a shambles. That's right. all the talent's going to league. You know what I mean? So Rennie in charge of the All Blacks. Yeah, well, Liam Messam talked about it on that Between Two Bears and he talked about Rennie and really creating a connection between the team and the community. Yeah, good. So they'd go out and they'd go to schools and they'd go to Marae and they'd work, do community shit. One of the things they had to do was hitchhike. They had to make their way from blah, blah to blah, blah, and they had like eight hours to get there.
8:07So the whole team was out on the road hitchhiking.
8:09Mike Minogue:That's fucking funny. But he cheated, Liam Messam said. He goes, who wants to give me a ride from here to, let's say, Taupo? Me and Sonny Bill. He tweeted it out, but it wasn't Sonny Bill. Someone was like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then they turned up and it was just him. It was just Liam Messam. It was a plan. Which isn't bad. But yeah, apparently they're really bringing that back. And I'm not sure Gilbert Anoka was involved last time, but he's involved this time. Yeah. And he's quite good as well. With the old psychology. Well, yeah. Isn't he? Purpose.
8:41Keyzie:Yeah, he's like Eckhart Tolle.
8:44Mike Minogue:Like Eckhart Tolle. You are not your thoughts. Yes, yes. Why don't you become the mental skills coach, Jase?
8:50Keyzie:I could.
8:50Mike Minogue:That's a good idea. And it's just you with your skull candies on and then listening to Eckhart Tolle and you lift one of them and then just sort of repeat what you just heard. Anytime somebody says anything to you, you just go,
9:03Keyzie:Fuck's sake. just be chill don't worry about it
9:08Mike Minogue:me and Jase were sort of walking together into the building and I spoke to him three times he knew I was there and he left his headphones on full tilt and didn't respond to me even though we were walking next to each other yeah slightly inaccurate
9:21Keyzie:what were you listening to a band called Palace very good and I acknowledged Keys as he walked across the road I was actually ahead of him I was less than a metre behind you
9:33Mike Minogue:and I was like, oh, look, Prebs is meeting with his mistress. And then the people three metres in front of you turned around and looked at me. Yeah. And, Jase, you were just in front of me and you just ignored me and went into the building. What was I wearing again? Headphones, did you say? Your blue headphones.
9:46Keyzie:Was I listening to music, perhaps?
9:48Mike Minogue:Yes. Yeah, yeah. But it's just rude. Like, we've linked up. Yeah. And you leave the headphones on.
9:52Keyzie:It's not rude. I spent all morning with you, man. It's very rude. It's standard, though. It's super rude. It's standard jizz for you.
9:58Mike Minogue:Well, you spent all morning with me, so now I'm just going to put my headphones on. It's enough Keezy.
10:01Keyzie:Yeah, I mean, there's enough Keezy until we do the show.
10:04Mike Minogue:To be fair, fair enough today, not good. Not good. Stressful day. It was a great day for you, Keezy. Did you get pumped out on the course there, Keezy? Yeah, man. We'll see the video. We both got pumped. It was a shocker. Yeah, I'm going to cut a video out of it. It's going to be... Every time I decide to make a golf video, I have a fucking shocker. And Jase just giggles while he's filming, and the camera starts shaking. Anyway thanks for listening to the big show Wait what? Listen to the big show 4.7 weekdays
10:34Keyzie:I reckon this thing in my drink is mouldy
