In short
The hosts banter about spicy food effects (phlegm vs inflammation/allergy), noodle cravings, and plans for a dressed-up night out—centered on one host’s flashy boots and a possible tasselled leather vest/jacket. They also joke about renewing wedding vows, cheating “signals” (e.g., an “I love my wife” bumper sticker), wedding anniversary milestones, and the idea of a honeymoon (originally Bali, derailed by the Bali bombings).

0:17Keyzie:G'day, farewells! You're good, man?
0:21Mike Minogue:Do you guys, after you eat something spicy, you get like a bit chesty? No. I get phlegmy. It's like it dislodges something. I think it's inflaming you, Keezy. Yeah, it could be inflammation, actually. Really? It's an allergy. It's not dislodging anything. Your body doesn't like it because you get nasally and dribbly and chesty. But my body really likes it, though. Your tongue loves it. Yeah. I had noodles last week, right? I'm going to get them tomorrow from the noodle place we always go to. So you're going to have some kind of noodley Asian thing today and you're going to have the same tomorrow?
0:54Mike Minogue:I actually didn't think about that. But I had noodles last week that were so good that I did that thing where you just go, what the fuck? I've never had noodles that taste this good. It's just fucked. You guys talk about noodles so much. I love noodles, man.
1:08Keyzie:But it's the same thing. How much you love them. How good noodles are. But your immune system. What about it? I think, because it's always been a bit weakened from childhood, it's very sensitive to our exterior forces. Right, okay. And I suspect you've got a couple of heavy lungs. Heavy lungs? Yes.
1:32Mike Minogue:I would say the opposite. I've got weak lungs from having asthma as a kid.
1:34Keyzie:Well, that's what I mean because you're carrying a lot of mucus in them.
1:38Mike Minogue:So they're just like bags of mucus.
1:39Keyzie:They're just these big sacks of mucus on your chest. Is that what they are? And then you have something spicy and chilly and it just loosens it up a bit and it just goes up. Worth it. Oh, yeah, totally. Yummy. Totally. Where is this place we're eating tonight, man? What's the guts there? because we're all going to be dressed up to the absolute nines. What have you got for us, man? It's just a standy ramen joint. No, you said it was fucking amazing. No, I didn't. In fact, I said what I said to you was, it's okay. Yeah, that's what he said. That is what he said. But the fact that we're all getting dressed up and going out, why are we going here if it's just okay?
2:14Keyzie:Well, I mean, it's more of a time issue. Right. Because it is a bit tight in terms of eating and then getting to the place. It's all very tight.
2:25Mike Minogue:I also love the idea of getting dressed up. I've got a turtleneck out there that I might put on. You're not getting dressed up. I might put it on. Yeah, a turtleneck. Come on, Moggy. And eating a ramen and a turtleneck. Yeah, good. You know what I mean? Is that a thing?
2:39Keyzie:Yeah. People do that. I am getting dressed up. I've got the most amazing boots. Are you going to wear them?
2:45Mike Minogue:Yeah, totally. Okay, great, because my wife really wants to see them. Yeah, everybody does. Are you going to get people wanting selfies with your boots? Can she have a photo of you with your boots on? Yeah, totally she can. Because she really wants a photo. She wants to wear the boots. No, no, no. She doesn't wear the boots. She doesn't wear the boots. Nobody wants to wear the boots. But that's as far, because she described she wants a photo of her pointing at the boots. Laughing. With a big open surprise face. Like, oh my God.
3:08Keyzie:He's actually wearing them? Yeah. No, like, wow, look at these. This is great. But that's as far as I go dress up-wise. I might wear a nice jacket. Well, yeah, you wear a jacket. I don't want to go. You're not wearing a jacket. There's a lot of admin going on, you know? I'm wearing a suit and tie. My wife's getting dressed up as well. So is my wife. That was all what I thought the plan was. We're not doing that anymore. Well, no, he's throbbering it.
3:29Mike Minogue:Yeah, exactly. He's just phoning it in. He's absolutely half-arsing it. We've got a shit restaurant and you're not getting dressed up and you're wearing those boots. And you're wearing those boots to rub salt in. Absolutely. You said you were going to the costume place.
3:38Keyzie:Did you do that? I'm not going on my own. I wanted all of us to go. Yeah. So you can't just put it on me. No, no, no, no. We're all wearing suits. I will look amazing, fellas. Don't you worry about that. I've got my number ones out there. I will look amazing. Right. I'm intrigued, actually. what old Pugs are what kind of headwear
3:58Mike Minogue:is he going to wear I reckon he's going to wear one of those helmets with a spike on top of it I think I think he might wear one of those American Indian headdresses with the feathers on it oh yeah because if anyone could pull that off it'd be Pugs are actually he's not loving this Pugs feel free to tell us what headwear you're wearing man
4:13Keyzie:um I know how you feel Pugs I know how you feel a turban he said you're wearing a turban
4:21Mike Minogue:the Horaki Big Show weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast.
4:29Keyzie:We were at the markets, downtown markets on Saturday and they were selling these brown leather Indian kind of jackets with the tassels. And my wife was like, I'm going to get you one of those. And I was like, that'll be the final nail in the coffin for me. You know what she's doing?
4:45Mike Minogue:Yeah, she wants you to wear the vest with the tassels and your boots. She's trying to get you smacked over in the CBD. No, you know what it is. It's because she was walking through Ponsonby the other day. Jason was talking about this yesterday, and he said, what's going on? All these women are staring at you. And he goes, are they? I haven't even known. And she's like, yes, and it's really starting to annoy me. So now she's dressing him up like an arse clown. An arse clown. But then everyone's going to be staring at him, you know what I mean?
5:07Keyzie:Can I make the point here that I decided to buy the boots, not my wife. I thought you were going to say vest. I bought them. I bought them. So it's all on me. It's all on me. All the credit for what you drank. And I said to my wife actually today, because I mentioned the boots, and she said, what's the big deal with them? And I said, well, they're women's boots for a start. And she went, are they? And I went, well, yes. See what she's doing though. You looked it up.
5:35Mike Minogue:She's gaslighting you.
5:36Keyzie:And she said, I didn't notice that it was women's shoes. She's saying, oh, I didn't notice it was women's shoes. And then I said, Keezy's wife said they're famous for bridal shoes, and that cracked her up.
5:49Mike Minogue:Because that is true And so My wife actually does The reason she wants to get a photo with you in the boots Is because one of her friends is getting married And is considering getting those boots And just wants to know what they look like
6:00Keyzie:She can borrow mine if she wants
6:02Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah They're doing a kind of jokey kind of wedding Yeah So they want my boots to feature heavily Yeah Do you think you guys will ever renew your vowels? Your vowels Or your vowels Is that a thing? Like what age are you supposed to do that? How long until the marriage? Do it whenever you want Normally after you've been caught cheating Fuck actually I saw a
6:27Keyzie:So what are you going to do yours what in the next month?
6:29Mike Minogue:A work van That was fully sticking up like work van And on the back it had a bumper sticker that said I love my wife And I was like that guy's been caught cheating Why would you have an I love my wife sticker? Either that or he's got a Well because he's got a wife that goes through all of his messages On Instagram and Facebook You reckon? And she's brought him a bumper sticker. So either deeply - So he's out being a smoke show. Oh, you reckon he's hot? He's a hot builder. So he's a Jace. Yeah, he's out there with his boots on. Yeah. And she's like, I just cannot have this. So I need to put a sticker.
7:00She's married on the back. Yeah, okay. 100%.
7:02Mike Minogue:Okay, that's a good point. It's either that, but my initial instinct was cheated. Nobody's buying their own I love my wife sticker. A guy who's groveling after cheating is. Nah, he's not. He'd know better.
7:12Keyzie:He'd know better. I just buy my wife rings. like jewellery. Really? Oh, after you've cheated. Well, no. Yeah, right. I wait a while because she sort of walks around like Liberace. She looks like Don King. Because she, you know, just to show that I appreciate her. But you don't. Well, I very much do, Mogi.
7:36Mike Minogue:Oh, that's why you've got that big bag of fake rings. Yeah. Yeah. Because you just go, I'm going for the weekend, darling. Grab a handful and throw them at her. And then put your vest on. I carry around a big bag of fake rings
7:50Keyzie:Do you? For fuck's sake What the fuck? Actually I was just joking
7:53Mike Minogue:No you actually do it Fucking hell We might be We won't be renewing them Because I'm going to have my 100th next year Oh yeah Yeah Which means 50 Yeah 40, 10 Yeah Who's 10? My wedding Wedding anniversary She's 40, you're 50 Yeah Very cool Yeah 100th No, I don't think I'll read.
8:17Keyzie:It's a huge piss-up. I can't see us doing that. We may do. No, if you get that tasseled jacket, you have to.
8:23Mike Minogue:Well, true. Do you know what I think you guys need to do is go on a honeymoon. Hey, we should do something like that on the show. Has that ever been considered? Oh, only like five years ago, about a billion times. Yeah. What's happening with that? They said it was a good idea. Well, the problem is you need to get a -
8:37Keyzie:I actually thought it had got to the point where it was actually happening. Oh, that's the trick.
8:40Mike Minogue:You need to get someone who's going to pay for and provide flights and stuff, like grab a seat or something. because your original honeymoon was to Bali and then the Bali bombings happened. I don't do marketing, Kesey. Not only does he not do marketing.
8:52Keyzie:I'm the talent, man. I'm not asking. Everything's marketing to you. That's not. Everyone else can do that and I'll just be talent, all right?

9:02Mike Minogue:I love how Jay thinks that in radio there's two jobs. There's partnerships, bro. There's radio, on the radio, and marketing. Yeah. We don't even have a marketing department. Yes, we do. No, she got fired or she left and then they haven't replaced it. Yeah. Yeah, but it's been taken over by the backbone, Kate. Yeah, she's kind of had to now start doing about four different jobs. But Bali bombings, cancelled your honeymoon. You were going to Bali. We should redo it, go to Bali, put you in a love shack. This was the original idea. With your wife. And we're next door in a big party thing, like overlooking your villa at all times.
9:30We had lots of different ideas, but we literally, we've been talking about this for years. Yes. Years. And you're right, I thought it was a done deal. Yes, that did I. And that's the trick. And then you just stop talking about it, and then a year later you're like, oh yeah, what happened to that? And then you ask me, oh, no. Yeah.
9:45Keyzie:My daughter's actually over in Bali as we speak for 15 days. Is she? That's too long. Oh, no, she's gone with like a group of 10 mates. How good. And one of the guys that she's gone over there with used to live there for ages and has property there, but they're travelling everywhere. They're travelling everywhere, and she looks like she's having a fucking ball. That's the thing with social media, man. Yeah, I guess so. If people would see a photo of you wearing those boots, what would they think? Fuck, he's onto it. He is sharp. He's having a fucking laugh. Hey, listen to the big show. I wonder if Pugs loves my boots.
10:28Mike Minogue:Of course he does. I'm going to talk to Pugs. Yeah, but he also loves berets. It's a Pugs beret situation. Although that Pugs beret situation was funny in the sense that Pugs went out into the bathroom here at NZME when he had the rest of his gears on, put on his beret and said to himself in the mirror, this is going to be a long night. Full credit though, he still wore it. He still wore it.
10:48Keyzie:And I'm wearing the boots.
10:49Mike Minogue:I'm still wearing the boots, boys. Yeah, that's just sad. This is the big show. Portal, seven weekdays, Radio Horaki.
