In short
The hosts riff on an 18th birthday outing, New Zealand drinking costs, and everyday life logistics, then pivot to golf and car/household updates.
Guests
No named guests appear; it’s a roundtable between the hosts (Jase, Keezy, Moggy/Minogi, and others referenced).
Key claims
People are “off the piss” because alcohol is too expensive; Auckland CBD rounds can cost about $60 for four drinks, and a rooftop cocktail can be ~$26 for a short glass.
Notable examples
The daughter’s “drink” plan at ~2pm triggers discussion about her likely drinking habits; golf includes Mulligans and Moggy’s three-putts after good approach shots; car talk covers refurbishing an Aqua vs fixing a “teeter,” plus walking daughter to school and missing a bike helmet.

Backbone. Funny thing happened this afternoon fellas and I wasn't even, I didn't even think about it till my wife mentioned it right. Smudge. So it's my smudge. I was just thinking of Smudge because that's what happens when you press your dick against the glass in the windows in your lounge there. Oh, that was a character from one of my shows too. Oh, really? Yeah, from what was that show called with Shane Cortese.
0:39Mike Minogue:Wow, we just got so off track just then.
0:41Keyzie:So it's my daughter's 18th birthday, right? And my wife and I get home at the same time. In fact, because I played golf and then my wife was working and she was behind me actually on the way home. I didn't know. And then she was flicking the lights on. Oh, it's her. So we arrived at the same time. You were going 30Ks in there. The daughter gets up, you know, finally. And her boyfriend's there as well. And so she's just turned 18. We do presents, et cetera, et cetera. And then she goes, oh, we're just going out for a drink. Now, normally what that means is she goes and buys herself a lift, you know like the energy drink and she'd been gone for like half an hour 45 minutes and then my wife said what exactly did she mean by a drink?
1:28Keyzie:What time was this in the day? It was about 2 and I went what are you, oh hang on yeah, you know what I mean because she's 18 now and I haven't even really got my head around that and now that's been tossed into the mix it's like oh fuck yes Well, that was already in the mix. Yeah, I'm sure she's had it many times.
1:50Mike Minogue:100%. I was getting on the piss since I was 15, I think, or even 14.
1:53Keyzie:Yeah, same, same. I was stealing all my dad's beers.
1:56Mike Minogue:Isn't it funny? So now you can't, you know?
1:58Keyzie:No, I can't. But it hasn't been an issue, has it, really? Earlier on, maybe a little bit. No, no. Well, she claims that she doesn't really like piss.
2:09Mike Minogue:That's good.
2:10Keyzie:I don't believe her. It's down 8 % on last year, Jase. Is it really? You know why.
2:15Mike Minogue:People aren't drinking piss anymore, man. People are off the piss. It's too expensive, Keezy.
2:19Keyzie:That'll be part of it. I was horrified to see the cost of a pint. Damn it.
2:29Mike Minogue:It's expensive, isn't it? It depends where you are as well. Yes. Oh, it definitely does. Auckland's a joke. Auckland's a piss tank, especially down there, the CBD. Yes. CBD-B. You get a round of drinks, so you get four drinks. It's like 60 bucks. It's fucking bullshit. It's bullshit. We got a cocktail at, there's a rooftop bar around there. It was like a plum margarita or some shit. It was like 26 bucks for a short glass. You're paying for the view. You certainly make it last. You're not there to get on the hammer. Right, yeah. Well, I wasn't. But yeah, you might have one and sort of make it last for three hours.
3:06Mike Minogue:Yeah, there are places where the price stops you from having a big one there. You could have a big one there. And then you just go, oh, fucking hell, it's going to be so expensive.
3:15Keyzie:What it's like when you go out to dinner, and this is where my wife and I save a shitload of money in terms of dinner because we don't buy piss. Yeah. And it's amazing how much that adds on to a fucking bill. It's ridiculous.
3:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, but you guys just sit there in silence and eat your meals and then go straight home. You know, that's boring, man. Get on the piss, man.
3:33Keyzie:Look, I've tried to convince my wife of it many times, but she's not having it, Keezy. Yeah, I wonder why. She won't have it. And I can tell you it's not in silence. We have good chat. Even after all these years, we still have good chat. I see they're doing the vanilla ice cream, dear. Yes.
3:53Mike Minogue:God. Look at that couple of them. You know what I saw the other day? French vanilla. What will they think of next?
3:59Keyzie:Look at that couple over there. That looks awkward, doesn't it? Yes. Do you want to share the... Do you want to share the... Why don't you have the Cabanera and I'll have... I'll have the blah, blah, blah. And then we'll go halves. We can just share it. Oh, God. That is quite remarkably accurate in terms of when we eat food. It's like, oh, what are you having? Okay, well, then I'll have this. And then I'll eat some of yours. Yeah.
4:27Mike Minogue:Well, I was very considerate with what she orders. Yes. She's very much like, oh, I was going to get this, but I'll get that because you'll like that. And I'm like, but I'm already getting the thing I like that I'm going to eat. Like your meal doesn't have to please me as well. But she knows you'll sulk on the way home. She knows that she'll eat half of it and then I'll finish it.
4:45Keyzie:Well, I can't finish a meal. And what does she choose, like dumplings or something?
4:50Mike Minogue:Yeah, we're at the dumpling store anyway, so I'm like either way. I'm getting dumplings anyway.
4:54Keyzie:I'm going to go actually for the wide noodles.
4:59Mike Minogue:To be honest, I prefer the normal noodles, but I'll get the wide ones. Yeah, I'll get the wide noodles. Two big bowls of wide noodles. Yes. Fuck, I haven't had wide noodles in ages. Fuck, I reckon. It's been like two weeks. Oh, fuck. Might have to go get some. The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from 4 On Radio Hauraki The Hauraki Big Show Podcast Hey, how'd your golf go fellas? Yeah, it was alright Yeah, good thanks Jase played really well He always does No, not always
5:25Keyzie:Well, compared to Keezy The last few games I don't know what's happened I'm being very consistent You
5:32Mike Minogue:Nah, this isn't the place for it But Jase needs to stop doing a certain thing Right Oh, what am I doing now? No, fucking Mulligan's on the first hole. He's playing better than ever before, and he still takes a – I'm like, you don't need to. Why? You're so good. What's a Mulligan? When you get to hit it again.
5:52Keyzie:Well, you remember when – Could you fuck it up? I said to the fellas, hey, how do you feel about the breakfast shot? You know, your first shot of the day.
5:59Mike Minogue:And you're with Mania, who's always like, yes.
6:01Keyzie:Yeah. But you said yes too.
6:03Mike Minogue:Yeah, I just say yes because if I said no, Mania would not shut the fuck up about it.
6:07Keyzie:Right, okay.
6:08Mike Minogue:Well, you know, fair enough. I can do that. He fucking almost broke 90 today.
6:12Keyzie:Wow.
6:13Mike Minogue:Yeah. And to be fair, without that, you would have been 93 anyway.
6:17Keyzie:92, actually. 92.
6:19Mike Minogue:There you go. So it's like, yeah, you may as well stop it.
6:21Keyzie:And the last three holes there, Mogi, I played very well, but I fucking three-putted two of them. Yeah. Unbelievable. Hit it onto the green and fucking three-putts. What's up with that? I was actually putting pretty good today as well. Hey, mate. Yeah, but apart from those last two holes. That's sick shots here, man.
6:41Mike Minogue:What did you do today, Moggy? I didn't go into the office today. I've been walking my daughter to school, of course, because I haven't got a car anymore. So I'm enjoying that. And then just work from home. Is that still getting fixed? Are you waiting? I'm just going to leave it. I'm just going to decide. I've got a few moving parts, so I might just leave it and see how we go because I've also got the fucked teeter. I mean the fucked aqua. Have you still got that? Yeah. And it doesn't move? It doesn't move. I'm really confused. So we're trying to decide whether we refurb that. For some reason, my wife thinks that the Aqua is not an absolute hunk of shit.
7:18It is. So she would rather spend the money fixing that than sell that and use that money to completely fix the teeter, which has had zero issues as long as we've owned it and is also just a normal engine. Yes. Less things that can go wrong. Exactly, 100%. Have you got three cars? Yes. Okay. Well, one. So I'm just trying to get that past the goalie at the moment, but it's not a priority at the moment.
7:46Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not worried about it. Plus you've got the 10 speed. That's the thing, man, and it's been great. I'm loving it. My wife loves her Aqua. Does she have an Aqua? Yeah. You're always surprised when you hear that, no matter how many times you hear it. It goes great guns. It goes great guns. She's into it Does Moggy Minogi ever follow you along on your 10 speed? Well at the moment She's got her own She walks with me Which is hard enough for a small child to keep up with It's quite funny you know When you're an adult You remember when you were a kid and you had to walk along and keep up You're like jogging almost With someone Fuck it's hard yeah So she's struggling with that But we can't find her bike helmet at the moment I think it's in the wife's car The boot of the wife's car Because normally I just take her to school on the bike You know what I mean?

8:28Mike Minogue:So you do bike with her? I do Yeah that'd be fun Yeah, I will.
8:32Keyzie:It's like when I walk with you guys because you guys take like giant strides. That's true.
8:37Mike Minogue:Quite often when me, you and Mogi are walking places, you do that thing where we're all holding hands and you'll swing on our arms. Yeah, yeah.
8:43Keyzie:That's right. I take like four paces to your guys one. That's right. You know, I have never felt so tiny as I did at my dinner. Really? When you three turned up because I wasn't wearing my shoes. The shoes.
9:00Mike Minogue:And it was like, fuck you guys are fucking tall.
9:05Keyzie:Yeah.
9:05Mike Minogue:Yeah.
9:06Keyzie:And it was actually pugs that took me, because I know you two are tall, but it was pugs that fucking took me back a bit. I was like, fuck he's a tall bastard. But was he wearing his big leather loafers with the tassels on them? I don't know what he was wearing. I think he was. I can't remember the shirt, but I am sure that he was wearing the tasseled shoe.
9:25Mike Minogue:He's wearing his tasseled shoes. I always notice the tasseled shoe.
9:28Keyzie:He was just like this formidable beast. He was towering over me. Well, you all were. That was the point. And seriously, that was the first time ever, weirdly, that I was like, fuck, I am small.
9:42Mike Minogue:You know what I mean? Your wife noticed it too. Did she? Yeah, she mentioned it. Yeah, yeah. Because my wife's quite tall. Is my wife tall? I know she was sitting down most of the time. Yeah, you're right. I'm going to just stand next time. Until Jase dragged her out by the air because the dinner party was over. That was fucking funny man I still remember Like she was standing there Ready to come back To sit down And then I was like Well it's been nice Having that And then That is That is pretty funny You do deserve To get marked down For that Jase For kicking someone out But Jase Fuck I loved it though Yeah it was good It was excellent It was fun It was slightly better Than two and a half buzzies Which is Because if you halve it If you halve it It's three buzzies This is the issue Out of ten Is no one ever goes Below five So you may as well just do out of five.
10:30Not at this point, no. Yeah, but it's come down with me, so that's what you've got to do. So three buzzies. Not at this point. That's what he's given you.
10:35Mike Minogue:Jase, I hope you can just stay professional and just judge it based on the dinner party itself.
10:40Keyzie:You mean like how you were at mine when you admitted off air that you were - I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, he's carried it over. Oh, boy, I have. He's carried it over into a new day. He's human.
10:49Mike Minogue:As long as I mark everyone with the same criteria, it shouldn't affect anything.
10:54Keyzie:Okay.
10:55Mike Minogue:And as long as you mark - then I expect these guys to be about the same. Yeah. All right, let's just can the whole cut down a bit. This is the Big Show 407 Weekdays Radio Hodaki.
