In short

The hosts banter about adult acne, diet (noodles, salads, takeaways), local food shopping, milk prices, and fitness/walking; they also argue about a co-host’s photo posted online without permission.

Guests

No named guests appear; it’s a casual segment with the regular hosts (including “Keyzie/Keezy” and “Pugs”), plus “Jase/Jace” mentioned in the dialogue.

Key claims

Acne is blamed on humidity/sweat and stress; squeezing pimples is pointless; hydrocolloid “cover thingies” help by stopping picking. Diet is framed as wife-driven high-vegetable meals, but Keezy is “addicted” to noodles (claimed 1–2x weekly). Milk is said to cost about $4.50/L at a local dairy.

Notable examples

Topex/Claracsol acne ad memories; Farrow’s Bang Bang Chicken ($25) and marinated pork ribs ($20); ordering bok choy/cucumber salad; the “no ears” photo and zoomed screenshot of Jase’s “honker.”

0:00For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Or Raw Doggy. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Hood Aki. Backbone.

0:15Keyzie:Backbone. G'day, females. My wife. What'd you get up to on the weekend there, Keyzie? You mad dog. Yeah, because you look like you've had a huge one. And we've also got the same Zet at the moment, I've noticed. Yeah, I've got one there too. Give us a look. Oh, on that side. What's your one? I've got one over here. And I've got, I was going to say, Mogey, because I've got one here as well. I was like, what the fuck is going on with our skin at the moment? Mine's terrible. I've started shaving again, and that's never good. Because normally I just trim it back, you know? Yeah. Length. Yes. And what you'll probably find is I had another shave yesterday.

0:51If they haven't already, I was taking a little farm of whiteheads. It's sort of generally just underneath the corner of the edge of my mouth there, just at the chin. Yes. God, it's a good look for a man of 50 years.

1:05Mike Minogue:That's regardless of which razor and stuff you use. Yeah, that's what people say. It's, oh, you probably need to change your razor. It could be a brand new razor. I can use a brand new razor and it will or won't happen. I can use an old razor and it will or won't happen. There's no way to know. Wow. Absolutely no way to know. I love it. You know what I think it is, the fact that we're breaking out,

1:23Keyzie:is the humidity. You think that's it? It's the sweatiness. And all the toxins and shit are coming out. Because I've got this one here on my cheek. It's a shocking bastard. It's not that fucking bad, man.

1:38Mike Minogue:I'd say it's stress-related.

1:40Keyzie:I have been fully resisting it. Because you know when you get those big, meaty... There's no point squeezing it.

1:47Mike Minogue:Because it does nothing. And what do you do, though?

1:49Keyzie:And it's itching at the moment. And I just will not touch it. It's like, come on, squeeze me. It's all kind of there. You see that one there? But I had that from a few weeks ago. It's been a month. Yeah. A month. It's a long time. I reckon it's a stretch. So I ended up getting these little cover thingies for it. You put it over there. Yes. The main thing is to stop you fucking with it, but it also sucks out all the goodness. Yeah. I think my daughter's got some of those, actually. They're good. They're actually quite good. Remember Topex? Nice to discover those. Yes. Topex? I used to be so ashamed when the Topex ads came on.

2:25Keyzie:because I had horrendous acne as a teenager. And the Topex ad would come on and everyone would look at me. Everyone would look at you. It was like the Clarosol as well. It was similar. Horrible.

2:37Mike Minogue:Yeah, I was very lucky not to get, but you still get giant pimples when you're a teenager. It doesn't matter if you have acne or not. Yeah. Fuck, they're annoying when you're at high school.

2:44Keyzie:But you've got great skin, Kesey, I have to say. You've got very good skin. Good skin, man. I was surprised to see that massive skin. You've got your mum's skin. Yeah, my mum looks amazing. What's she using?

2:55Mike Minogue:Being part Māori.

2:56Keyzie:No, I mean for skin.

2:58Mike Minogue:Yeah, that's what I mean. Like, she's Māori and Japanese. The idea being that you've got your mother's literally skin in your pocket. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Mon's skin. But, like, all of her family look amazing. They all do. And my nana, when she passed, who was my mum's mum, she looked amazing. Right. For a long time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was amazing. But I think I'm breaking out just because I keep eating fucking noodles. Oh, yeah. How's your veggie level? You're addicted. Yeah, good. Because every night Lucy's obsessed with making salads. So all of my meals are like 70 % salad. Oh, yeah. Which is really nice, and I've started to really like them.

3:34Keyzie:What would we do without our wives? Because my wife is constantly – Probably without the piss. Yeah, true. Probably fucking awesome. When we're going out for dinner or stuff, she's very focused on veggie content. Oh, yes. You know, because I can get very meat-oriented. Well, when I say meat, I mean like dumpling stuff and chicken and shit like that. She's like, I need vegetables. So she'll order the side of bok choy.

4:00Mike Minogue:Yes. So does my wife. And a cucumber salad. Yes. My wife, if we order like a fish burger or a cheeseburger or something from a takeaways, she'll always say, do you want me to add some salad? She'll add salad into hers. Yeah. No thanks. Fuck no. No thanks, mate.

4:15Keyzie:I just want meat and cheese.

4:18Mike Minogue:Today, though, I had our noodle joint for lunch because I was working all morning doing DIY why and then I had to go to Mitre 10 and next to Mitre 10. You're a shock and fast. You are bad. It's not a problem, Keezy. Their Mitre 10 is the noodles store. And I was like, fuck, I'm going past anyway, right? Yeah, you're going past anyway. It was hands down the best noodles I have ever had from that store and I've had a lot. The one today.

4:39Keyzie:Today was the one.

4:40Mike Minogue:Was fucked up how good it was. I was just like, how do they make this shit? I went to Farrow's today because I said to my wife, never again.

4:51Keyzie:are we having the debacle of minute steaks?

4:55Mike Minogue:Never again. So what, now you're a farrow guy? You don't have to get a farrow to get good meat. For people outside of Auckland, it's a fancy little restaurant there for people with heaps of money. It's a supermarket. Sorry, supermarket.

5:10Keyzie:It's actually not that much more expensive than... Here he is. He doesn't notice. I mean, he doesn't even look at the receipt. I'll tell you what I got today. I got Bang Bang Chicken. $25 what are you talking about that's what I bought from Farrow's that's expensive just for you in a bag it's chicken with all these sauces and stuff and is it just for you no for the family $25 $25 so that's and a salad and that's your meal

5:38Mike Minogue:that's fucking pricey man that's a lot of money is it you may as well just go to the ATM get out like a hundred bucks and just eat that put some fish sauce on that

5:47Keyzie:I got some pork marinated pork ribs. They were 20 bucks. You like that?

5:52Mike Minogue:Yeah, I do. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. Pugs has just come up with a great idea. Do you want to do this now, Pugs? Jase, how much is it for a litre of milk?

6:10Keyzie:About$4.50.

6:12Mike Minogue:Isn't that fucked up? I have no idea if that's correct. Yeah, it is$4.50 because we drink a lot of milk. It's too much for one litre. You reckon? Yeah, I think so. I'm just going to Google it. Maybe six or two. We don't actually drink milk, so I couldn't tell you.

6:26Keyzie:We do. We drink shitloads. I, as I've said before, I get cravings for a massive tall glass of cool glass. $2.98. Where the fuck's that? Woolworths. Come on, man. Wake up.

6:39Mike Minogue:Yo, you'd be going to Farrow.

6:41Keyzie:No. It's$4.50. No. The same milk. At my local dairy in Glen Eden, it's$4.50 for a litre. That's not your local anymore. Your local is Farrow's. I have a new local, and the lady that runs it is lovely.

6:56Mike Minogue:What's her name?

6:57Keyzie:I don't know yet. You're going to ask? What's your name? Yeah, what's your name, love darling? And I... How weird is this? I worry about her. She's very sweet, and she's very gentle, and she's right in the centre of town. There's a lot of bad people around.

7:18Mike Minogue:So tough guys like Jace can survive there, but not her. She's probably been there for 50 years.

7:23Keyzie:Yeah, she's way more staunch than me. She's got a shotgun within reach. Probably, probably. It was really sad when I left Glen Eden. Now, because the dairy there has been raided so many times, they literally have a cage around them. this massive metal cage.

7:41Mike Minogue:Ours have got that as well.

7:42Keyzie:And it's like, that's fucked, man. That sucks. We have to do that shit.

7:46Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah.

7:47Keyzie:Keezy, I'm worried about your noodle eating.

7:49Mike Minogue:What do you mean? I reckon I'd average noodles once a week. I guess that's about right for a takeaway, but then you also have pizza and shit as well, don't you? No. Literally, I wish I've stopped eating pizza and I get noodles now. Which is fucked up. That's right. If you're having that once a week.

8:06Keyzie:I don't believe that because the amount of times you come in and go, I had my noodles today, and you drove to your noodles, and you just got some noodles, and you had your dumplings. It's not once a week, man. I want to see your accounts, Keezy. I want to see your fun accounts.

8:21Mike Minogue:Can you just back off a bit, please, man? Hey, let's say I'm averaging noodles twice a week. That's all, G. What's wrong with that? We're getting into cheeseball territory. That's what's wrong with that. You're off your head, man.

8:34Keyzie:Because of my change of location, weirdly, I've stopped my nippies.

8:38Mike Minogue:Yeah, because you're not driving in anymore.

8:40Keyzie:Yeah. I haven't had nippies for a while there, Mogey. That's great stuff. I'm trying to think what I'm addicted to. I haven't had cheese balls for ages.

8:49Mike Minogue:I haven't had nippies in ages either. I reckon it's been 20 years. I've never had it in my life. Cheese. Oh, what did I have last night? I had cheese balls. Cheese and bacon shapes I had last night. I got home Friday night. Oh, Saturday night. We went to the neighbours for drinks. Then when I got home, I was still a bit peckish, so I ate a bag of cheese balls. Fuck, it's good stuff. Fucking delicious, man. I want to knock it on the head, though. I do. What's that? Just eating shit. Once a while, I'm like, oh, got a little tree to be nice. Yeah. But it's just fat boy shit after giving up the piss.

9:19But it's delicious. Oh, it's definitely delicious. Yeah. But you don't want to turn into a pudgy fuck.

9:24Keyzie:Man, I am walking so much now. I'm getting fit as, fellas. I am so fit now. It's like saying you go to aqua jogging and you're really fit. You're not. I am averaging now. It's good for walking, but that's walking fit. Over 10K a day. Great. Walking. Yeah.

9:45Mike Minogue:That's a lot. But also, what kind of fit should Jay speak? It's not like he's ever going to run it. Well, yeah, yeah. Well, this is the point, isn't it? But it's, I mean, fit and walking for 10K. I mean, it's better than nothing, that's for sure. It's more than I do. Fucking hell. The only reason I want to be fit is to get a full erection. That won't help. Won't it? No. Yeah, fuck, you have to walk a long way to get that going. To get a foot, you pump that blood. Massive farts.

10:15Keyzie:Oh, fellas. Hey, speaking of our massive zits. Yes. I've got a real fucking bone to pick with pugs today. Oh, yeah, cool.

10:26Mike Minogue:To do with your photo that he uploaded. Did he ask you if he could do that? It was weird because he had no ears in that photo either. A little bit of one. Disgraceful. Did he ask your permission?

10:35Keyzie:I've got little monkey ears. Have you ever noticed that about me? You've got no ears. Of course he didn't ask my permission. Well, let's definitely get him in there. Did you have a zit on that photo? No, but I had stupid hair, deliberately, and he fucking... And he put it on 0.5. And he just made me look even more horrendous than I normally do. I was trying to comment. I thought you could comment with photos, but you can't. You can only comment with GIFs. Yeah. GIFs are a little moving image, Jase. Yes. and yeah because I just took I just zoomed in on your honker and took a screenshot tried to post that but it wouldn't let me probably it's a good photo man thanks man must have done a bit of got a bit of traffic did it well I was hoping not but yes it looks like it has

11:19Mike Minogue:hey listen to the big show four or seven weekdays well you should anyone that anyone that hasn't seen it you should talk about it on the radio well I'm going to make sure they go and look at it that's a good idea we should because we should get pugs in and be like what's going on here man you've got to ask permission before you post it hideous

11:32Keyzie:Because you were really, like your hotbox thing, eh? You were filthy about that when you created a hotbox coming into breakfast. Remember? And you were just ripping ass in the car and you had a big night. And it was like a hotbox.

11:47Mike Minogue:Actually, I think Pugs is well within his rights to post that photo.
