Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Keyzie:Yeah, hi there, all you podcast listeners. Just want to put a little disclaimer at the front of this podcast, not suitable for children. There's a lot of buggery talk.
0:10Mike Minogue:Yeah, there's a few topics touched on there. Buggery. Slavery. A lot of interesting facts I think you'll find, but there is probably just a little disclaimer that needs to be had. Bugger me!
0:22Keyzie:For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram. Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Or Raw Dog It. Four to seven every weekday on Radio Hoda K. Raw Dog It, man. Do you like Raw Dogging it? Yeah. I lost my watch, fellas. I think I was moving stuff today, and I think it's been knocked off my wrist. Really? Knocked off? And I've lost it, yeah.
0:47Mike Minogue:What kind of strap was it? It's a silvery one, you know. It's one of these. A good one. Nah, not like that. Well, actually. A claspy one? Yeah, that's the best. So if you knock one thing, it could slide off. I think it would have knocked off. They're more inclined to knock off there with that pin, yeah. The pin where it joins to the face. Yeah, right. Yeah, so that's a bastard. That was a gift from my old wife. Oh, stink. So we'll see how we go. I just got through the day. It's probably worth thousands, too. I got through the day. Yeah. Hundreds, maybe. Surely you'll find it in your office. But I got through the day, and when I was out and about, I got through the day, and I was like, I feel a bit naked on my wrist.
1:20Bastard's gone. Yeah. Fuck it. Fuck it.
1:26Keyzie:How are you, Jase? Yeah, good things. Can you see how you're doing, mate? Yeah, I'm really great, man. Mike. Michael, stop it.
1:34Mike Minogue:Jason. Yes? Are you sure you're all G? Yeah, man, I'm great. Oh, yeah, you came in a fucking whore of a man. Oh, come on, fellas. Absolute whore of a man. Come on, fellas. Do you think you're being a good man given the fact that you've finished shooting? You've finished shooting your secret project? Yes. It's all done now, man. You're actually like the Alan DeGeneres of podcasting because your on-air persona is that you're really nice. You put on this facade, but behind the scenes you're a bullying. Shocking bastard. Shocking bastard.
2:02Keyzie:Is that her reputation, is it? That's why she's got no show anymore. Right. Yeah, I remember that. It all came out. I remember that. There was a big controversy. She's actually really horrible and stuff.
2:11Mike Minogue:How'd that make you feel? Oh, I'm all G, man. Oh, you respect that kind of behavior. It was weird for her to behave like that because, of course, she was a stand-up comedian and she got a sitcom in the 90s, Keezy. Huge sitcom. It was called Alan. Yes, huge. It was massive. And then she insisted that a storyline, and rightly so, should be that she was coming out as gay. Great. Yes, so she was coming out as gay in the real world and also as the character on the TV show because nobody knew. Yeah. And instant cancellation. Isn't that interesting? Instant backlash from the public. Yeah. Instant cancellation of that show, and she was in the wilderness for about a decade before she got that talkback show.
2:52Yes. So funny that she could go through all that and still be a fucking bitch.
2:55Mike Minogue:Yeah, what does she do?
2:56Keyzie:Well, I mean, maybe it just filled her with rage and resentment because she was being honest and open about who she was and they went, we don't want you. So she had a reason for being angry and upset. But that would be about that. But then she has huge success with the talk show. You think she'd be like, oh, they welcome me back as me.
3:12Mike Minogue:Yes. And also, I'm going to be nice to everyone because I know what it's like. It's horrible. You would think so. For some people, and I used to have a, my first ever manager on radio was like this when I was an intern. He had a shit internship. and so his thing was he wanted every intern to have a shit inshirt.
3:28Keyzie:To be inshurnship. A shit inshirt.
3:30Mike Minogue:Yeah. Yeah, and he was a prick. Right. But they do that. It's like at school, isn't it, as well? You give the third formers and what do you call those? New entrants? Yeah, third formers, but they call it something where you just hammer them because they're the new kids at school. Yeah, yeah. So that's stupid.
3:46Keyzie:It was funny you should talk about her being cancelled because we were watching a show last night, my wife and I, and it was at a certain, it was in the 1880s or something like that and how homosexuals were discriminated against and all these people. And my wife and I were reflecting about how much it's changed. In the 1980s? No, in the 1880s. You know, back in the dark, you know, and people were thrown in prison and, you know, your greats like Oscar Wilde, et cetera. Well, what about? It's quite an extraordinary thing to think about that you are a homosexual and that you can't come out and say, hey, I'm gay, man.
4:20Keyzie:and it's all G.
4:21Mike Minogue:What about Alan Shearing? Who? Alan Shearing. Are you saying Shearing? Alan Shearing. Do you mean Turing? Yeah, yeah. Alan Turing. Yeah. Who's that? He cracked the Enigma code, remember? Played by Eggs Benedict Cucumber Patch. Oh, yes. And then he came out. No, what happened is his flat got robbed, and whilst telling the police what happened, he had accidentally admitted that he was living there with his partner, who was a man. And then rather than solving the issue, they basically arrested him and he was charged with public indecency or something like that. And then he had a year of being forcefully injected with estrogen, chemical castration, which made him grow breasts and made him sterile.
5:04But there was also you were just charged with beena. Yeah, exactly.
5:10Mike Minogue:But that was in the 50s, man. After he helped solve the war. Yeah, with Oscar Wilde. I solved the war. As soon as I said that, I was like, that's not what he did. But he helped cut approximately two years off the wall. Yeah, that's right. And saved billions of lives. Yeah, that's right. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. And then there was also, what's the other thing that was illegal? Anal. Yeah, buggery. Buggery. So if you get, you go to jail for the old buggery. and that was illegal in New Zealand up until around about 1987 or something ridiculous?
5:51Yes. And being a gay, et cetera. Yeah, yeah. In New Zealand. It's extraordinary, isn't it? None of my bloody business, man. Well, exactly.
5:58Keyzie:What you do in your bedroom, Kesey, is over to you, mate. I'm not going to judge you. No difference to me.
6:02Mike Minogue:Thank you. 100%. I mean, obviously what you do is a little bit, you know. It's a bit weird, I'll be honest.
6:08Keyzie:But I mean, I'm not going to. But it shouldn't be illegal. I wouldn't lock you up for it. Yeah, I mean. Well, it is illegal. I mean, I'd ostracise you. It would almost be illegal, I would have thought. It is currently illegal.
6:17Mike Minogue:Yeah. What I do in my bedroom is currently illegal. Yes. What is it?
6:21Keyzie:Oh, I don't want to. You've got animals. I don't want to. I don't have animals. I don't want to shame you, Kesey. Not anymore, I don't. You do you in the bedroom, man.
6:30Mike Minogue:I quite often do.
6:31Keyzie:Do you? I bet you do, you filthy bastard. Decriminalised in 1986 in New Zealand. What? Buggery. Homosexuality. It was illegal to be gay in New Zealand in 1986. How terrible to having to live your life like that, eh? Gay, you can't say that anymore, James, because there's nothing wrong with it. There's never been anything wrong with it, and now society agrees, and you saying how terrible to live your life like that is shocking, man. Listen to me, what I'm saying is how terrible that the law says that who you are is not acceptable. Exactly.
7:05Mike Minogue:Who gives a shit? But the funny thing is, did you know that it's not funny, but I think it's in the UK, but it is not... When do you think owning a slave became illegal in the UK?
7:19Keyzie:Owning a slave? Yeah. A sex slave? Just a slave.
7:23Mike Minogue:Right, okay. I guess a slave, you can make them do whatever you want.
7:26Keyzie:Yeah. Probably quite recent, I'd imagine.
7:30Mike Minogue:100%. I think it was in 2000 and something.
7:32Keyzie:Right.
7:33Mike Minogue:So they got rid of it, but there was no law saying you couldn't own a slave. I'm pretty sure... I'm going to have to Google it. Going to have to Google it.
7:42Keyzie:I've got it for you. Oh, you've just reminded me of something I wanted to do on the show. Oh, really? Have a sex slave? Be in a whore of a mood? It's along those lines there, Moogie. Slavery became unenforceable on UK soil in 1772. Slave trade was abolished in 1807 and in most of the empire in 1833.
8:06Mike Minogue:It officially became illegal to own a slave in the UK April 6, 2010, with the passage of the Anti-Slavery Act 2010. So it was outlawed, et cetera, but it was never a law that you couldn't own a slave until 2010. Wow. How fucked is that? How good was that? I mean, yeah.
8:23Keyzie:Is buggery, in terms of buggery, is it just any anal sex? Is that or is it just -
8:32Mike Minogue:Why are you looking at me directly? Is it any anal sex? Wait, how many anuses do you have? Is that - Oh, I see what you mean, between male and female. Yes. Yeah, I don't know. No, I think it was sort of, you know, swept under the carpet if it was female or male. Right, okay. How do you define buggery? I'm going to get pinged by the bloody... Oh, as you should be, man. Anal intercourse.
8:56Mike Minogue:It doesn't say anything about... It's just anal in general. Yeah, yeah. So it's anything. So anyone doing it is... Yeah, why are you trying to find a loophole?

9:08Keyzie:Is doing technically buggery. Oh, God. It's a good word, though, don't you think? They replied to anyone, but it was the buggery one. So, of course, in the United Kingdom, and you'll remember this, Jase, under the Buggery Act of 1533, without a word of a lie. 1533. 1533. 500 years ago. They were worried about the buggery, and later the offences against the Person Act. Buggery was defined as anal intercourse between a man and a man or a man and a woman. So, legally, it covered any person, but in practice, all prosecutions were against men. Yeah. Yes. Well, that's why I asked the question because I was like, is it only deemed buggery if it's between men?
9:47Keyzie:Yes. But it must be buggery in general. It was across the board but only enforced as it was regarded as a perversion. Yes. Between men. Who gives a crap do what you want? Do we need to put a disclaimer on this one? I think so. It should have been listened to by children. It's factual. It's factual. It's a factory. It's factual. Factory of filth.
10:06Mike Minogue:We're working with old Pugs is in there working on the next Reburg. Absolutely. he's given it death and now he's spotted us listening to him he's gotten all sheepish
10:15Keyzie:I think he's washed his hair today so it's gone all boofy
10:19Mike Minogue:no I'm not talking about his hair oh sheepish got him feels like it should be a Thursday or a Friday fuck yes
10:31Keyzie:Kesey don't you roll your eyes at me I've actually texted my wife before and it feels like I said to my wife today I don't care. It feels like we should be on holiday now. Oh, yeah. Don't you feel like fellas? Fellas? Soon, mate. Yes. One month. I'm all good. Because what have we got going up? Can we go through that? We've got Golf Day tomorrow. Yes. Which barely counts as week. That'll be great.
10:56Mike Minogue:Chasing the Fox in three weeks' time. On the 12th. And then that final week, which will be pretty chill. Yeah. So it's pretty chill from here on out. That final week will be pretty chill. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
11:08Keyzie:Yeah, it'll be good, won't it? Getting it to December's going to be good, mate, and that's going to be Monday. That's right. We'll be in December.
11:13Mike Minogue:It'll be so hot. Let's agree to record a little disclaimer at the end of this, which will be at the front of the pod, yeah? Yeah, let's do it. All right, listen to the big show, four to seven weekdays on Hodark. Why do we have to agree to that? I mean, obviously, we just do it. Doosh, doosh, doosh.
