In short

The hosts riff on “jizz” as a recurring joke, awkwardness around asking for a wife’s salmon air-fryer recipe, and how “steamed” vs “wasted” drinking levels work. They also discuss using air fryers for more than food (even putting a metal container or a packet of smokes inside), plus weekend drinking plans and social behavior at shows.

Guest backgrounds

No guests appear; it’s a banter segment between the hosts (Jase, Keezy, Mogi).

Key claims

Keezy’s wife won’t share recipes because she fears being judged; the hosts’ wives react differently to being asked.

Notable examples

air-fried salmon with a garlicky/lemony/butter sauce; “jizz” cat naming; “Jase doesn’t like you” used as a joke to explain his early departure.

0:00Keyzie:For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Dog It. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horeke. Yeah! You know what I'm saying, man? Yeah, I do, Mogi. Oh, brother soul. What did you go with at the sushi shop there? I didn't see what you bought. Oh, karage and then there's some other shit on a stick, which I like. Yeah, is there a lot of stuff there? I don't even know what it is. There was a lot of stuff. You just shove it in your gob and chew. I get it in me, man. You know what I mean? I'm that kind of guy. Just get it in me. Why did Keezy just suddenly disappear?

0:39I'd imagine he was getting a glass of water. Right, okay. That would be my guess. But we're pressed for time. Right, okay. So you thought, these guys can get it started. They'll get about a minute done. I'll be back. I'll have my glass of water. Nobody will make a big deal about it. And we can just sort of get on with it. And everybody will be none the wiser.

0:55Mike Minogue:Yeah. And basically my thought was, and if they can't do that, it shows that I'm kind of the glue. You are the jizz.

1:03Keyzie:You love the word jizz at the moment, eh? Spoonboy the jizz did it for three weeks, fellas. It will be fine. It's a versatile word, isn't it? Jizz. Have you warmed to it? Well, I tell you what, it feels good in the mouth, doesn't it? Absolutely it does. There's something about jizz that's just really pleasing to say. You know some words you like saying? And jizz. Yes. It's the down and the up. Yeah. It's something really satisfying.

1:33Mike Minogue:Do you agree, Keezy? No, not really. You don't like it.

1:36Keyzie:You don't like jizz?

1:37Mike Minogue:I liked jizz. I think it was the naming of your cat. And then obviously your name is Hoity Jizz.

1:44Keyzie:Yeah, I don't know how that ever really. Well, no, apparently it's Hoity Jizz Bot. Well, it's both. It's hoody-jay, hoody-janus, hoody-jizz, hoody-jizzbot. That's right.

1:54Mike Minogue:Yeah. I think now I've just been overexcited too much jizz. Oh, yeah? I think that's what's happened to me. I don't know why. Because I used to love jizz. I love jizz. To me, it's just become another word now. It's got no disgusting overtones here. But for listeners, it probably does, which is fair enough. Yeah, yeah. And so it should.

2:15Keyzie:Well, and I'm not being silly here. I love jizz too. It doesn't bother me. But like you guys, well, actually not like you guys. I like the disgusting element of it. Oh, you do? Yeah, yeah. But we have taken some of the sting out of it. We have. You know what I mean? By its constant repetition. Well, when your cat got named, I thought, jeez, we're pushing it here, and now it's just jizz all over the joint. Yeah, well, I mean, my wife and daughter weren't happy about all the jizz chat. That's weird. Yeah, it is, eh? Speaking of which, my wife's in a horror of a mood with your wife, Keezy. Why, because she didn't send through the salmon thing?

2:52Keyzie:Yeah. She was in tears last night. I said, hey, babe, just hold off on the meal. Oh, well, you're going to cook it last night. Keezy's wife's going to be in touch, maybe, and tell you how she does the salmon in the air fryer.

3:07Mike Minogue:Jase, here's something you need to understand, right? Every time my wife suggests anything or does anything, you slam it in some way. so when I go home and you too so when I go home and say hey why are you dragging me into it genuinely say hey babe at no point would I ever ask for a recipe of your wife see and so the fact that she doesn't get more upset about the stuff we chat about is like a miracle it's good but she's toughening up the moment we get to hey can you message Jace's wife that recipe for how you do something she instantly full anxiety she has to go direct to your wife and you're going to have it for dinner that night and then you're going to bag it on the radio There's no way she's going to do it.

3:45Well, we had it put down for two breaks today. 100%.

3:47Mike Minogue:And now we're going to have to get a guest in or something to fill it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's no way. And I even said, Jace is really keen on your air-fried salmon recipe. And she's like, oh, really? I'm like, yeah. It's like, actually. Actually, when Keezy says your name, she visibly recoils. Flinches. She's like a dog down at the SPCA. It's been found in the sack at the bottom of a river.

4:12Keyzie:Right, yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. I didn't know that. Is that true as well? Is that Keezy?

4:16Mike Minogue:Unless you've got to already, like, she already, without knowing you, right, if it was Isaac or Kate or someone in the office and I was like, oh, they want your salmon recipe, she'd be like, oh, and instantly she'd be like, but is it even that good? And then if it's bad, they're going to think of, you know, that's already what goes through her head. Right. Throw in you guys bagging her. No. You guys using her as a joke. The fact that I'm really famous. No, none of that. She doesn't give a fuck about any of that. In fact, she's not even aware of any of that. So there's no, I told it to her and she was just like, oh, okay.

4:47Mike Minogue:Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. She could also just say no. No, she can't. Ah, yeah, good. Because she's just like, she doesn't want to be a bitch either.

5:03Keyzie:We did it in the air fry anyway. It was great. It was really yummy. Well, that's the thing, right? Just Google it. Did you put a little bit of soy sauce? A little bit of honey? No. A little bit of ginger? My wife went for a sort of garlicky, lemony, buttery sauce.

5:16Mike Minogue:And did it because I don't like salmon, but it actually cooks it really nicely. Yeah, it was really good.

5:21Keyzie:Yeah, it was genuinely good. Oh, there you go. But we did that ourselves, I want to point out.

5:24Mike Minogue:Oh, no, she doesn't get any credit for that.

5:25Keyzie:Oh, because she didn't send us through any recipes.

5:28Mike Minogue:Nah, but now you understand. I was like, the chances of my wife doing that are pretty slim because she is like a dog that's been in a sack at the bottom of the river. My understanding is that the air fryer makes everything better.

5:39Keyzie:Well, it's a remarkably versatile thing. I'll tell you the thing about an air fryer is not only the food you can chuck in there, but what you chuck the food in. You can put pans in there, all sorts of shit. Because we were always like, oh, don't put that in the air fryer. But it's like, how big is your air fryer? Anything you can put in the oven, you can put in the air fryer, basically.

6:00Mike Minogue:If it's big enough, how big is it?

6:01Keyzie:Well, no, but, you know, like a little metal container or whatever. You're right, okay. Like a plastic bag.

6:07Mike Minogue:Oh.

6:08Keyzie:Like a packet of smokes. Really? Mate, you put a packet of smokes in there. God, I was hanging out for a durry today. You just reminded me. You put a packet of smokes in there. Beautiful. Last weekend was going to be my last weekend, but I think this weekend's my last weekend. What's this weekend?

6:23Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean, man? My wife's going to be away.

6:28Keyzie:His wife's away.

6:29Mike Minogue:Uh-oh.

6:30Keyzie:He's going to get steamed. I don't get steamed, Kesey. I just drink too much.

6:35Mike Minogue:Wait, what's the difference? Well, I'm not hammered. So, for example, if I was at the height of my drunkenness, pretty much outside of the raucous nature of being at, say, rugby league game or whatever, I could happily have a conversation with your mother. Right. Yeah. But if I was in my 20s, I wouldn't have been able to do that. I'd be a complete mess. We had this discussion on my gaming podcast today. Extremely casual gamers. Extremely casual gamers. Get away from you get great podcasts. Yeah, man. I love it. We randomly veered off into, I think I've got this from the big show, just veering off into shit that's not even related.

7:10Mike Minogue:Yeah. But how much drinking everyone does. Right. Guy doesn't drink at all because he's on medication and he can't. Ellie doesn't drink, but she does other stuff. Yeah, sure.

7:24Mike Minogue:And then they were like, how much do you drink? And I was like, because I mentioned the word heavy drinker. And then I was like, hang on, in your head, what is a heavy drinker? Someone that gets like really drunk like once or twice a week, every week. Right. And I was like, cool, so I'm a heavy drinker. But I said I get steamed, which is the same thing. Yeah, you've got this other word that you use. So I use steamed as like I'm not wasted. Right. For me it goes happy, steamed, wasted. I always get to steamed or happy, usually steamed. You're done. And I use the example of someone came to me and said, hey, Keezy, I need you to drive to Tauranga.

7:59Mike Minogue:Here are the keys to my car. I think I could quite easily do it. That's the level I get to. Oh, so you're so drunk you think you can drive No, no, no, no, I think I genuinely could Not that I do

8:11Keyzie:Chris, Chris Where did that come from? Me? Keezy was talking about the other day About you actually being steamed And the manifestation Of you steamed, which is very affectionate Cuddly mogi

8:27Mike Minogue:You coming over, Keezy, how you going Little background Little slap on the arse How good's this Keezy, man? We're just outside, man. Yeah, no, I very much enjoy it. Yeah, yeah, which is a good way to be. It's not like what it used to be, which is just insanity.

8:42Keyzie:You know, I just hammered. There's this karagi chicken going on. Excuse me, a liability to yourself and your friends, you know? Yes, you're right. Yes, I do.

8:52Mike Minogue:Do you reckon if you came across, like, 25-year-old Mogey now on the piss, do you reckon you guys would get on? He'd be the worst person that has ever been at a big show, I'll tell you that, a live show. Hundies. Yeah. Far out. because there's been some baddies and not hot chicks. And likewise, bad dudes.

9:09Keyzie:And likewise, I would have been a ball like.

9:14Mike Minogue:Yeah, but that's just regular 25-year-old to you though, without the booze.

9:17Keyzie:Well, yeah, no. The thing is, back in the day, I was very quiet without the booze. But everybody was the same back in the day. Let me point that out. I was following the crowd. Yeah, yeah. Well, I was a little above the crowd. Yeah. I used to think I was part of the crowd, but I actually wasn't part of the crowd.

9:35Mike Minogue:But you're saying, hang on, that you're very quiet back in the day. You're still quiet. Yeah, I am pretty quiet. They're parties. That gives you the social lubrication. Yeah, yes. You know. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So many people on Thursday were like, oh, where's Hoyt J? Oh, 100%. And it was like quarter past seven. I just tell them. Yeah. Same. I just say, he doesn't like you. Yeah, good. He really doesn't. I always say.

9:55Keyzie:Well, I make sure, I always make sure before I go, I tell people I don't like them. Yeah, which is good, which is good. There's nothing worse than trying to find someone and not knowing why they've gone. There, yeah. So I go, I make a point.

10:06Mike Minogue:Because I don't like you. Yeah, I go basically, I say, look, man, Jase doesn't like you guys. He doesn't like doing the show. He doesn't want to be here. Yeah. So he's here when he has to be, and then as soon as that's over, he's home.

10:15Keyzie:And then you do a little chilli belch, eh, and feel nauseous.

10:18Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, then I do a hot chilli belch and feel nauseous. Yeah. And then swipe Jase into the cootoo lounge and he eats three. All of those things. Good stuff, fellas. Yeah, good stuff, guys. Good stuff, fellas. That's the way to do it. Let's go, man. That's the way to do it. I'm looking forward to a good weekend this weekend. It's Wednesday already, fellas. I'm fucking targeting Friday night, man. Just about fused. Oh, yeah. I'm going to have a big one Friday night. I'm going to go Saturday. Yeah? Early start of the lunch.

10:41Keyzie:I'm going to have a good, productive weekend. Boring. Get on the piss. Boring. Get on the piss, Jase. Yeah. Fuck your life up, man.
