In short

The hosts riff on staying chill while handling home, work, and tech tasks—plus a quick detour into headphone quirks, haircuts, and lighting/dimmer problems.

Guest backgrounds

No named guests appear; the episode is a casual banter segment among the regular hosts (including “Pugson,” “Keezy,” and “Jase”), with “Adam” mentioned as a hairdresser at Maloney’s.

Key claims

Stress is optional—once they stop rushing and “declutter,” deadlines feel manageable. Don’t start electrical fixes with the dimmer; replace bulbs first. Headphone quality directly affects broadcasting.

Notable examples

Keezy’s coffee spill; building three websites with his wife’s feedback; a dimmer failing after a light switch visit, leading to hardwired/non-dimming bulbs; “chill out man” as the mantra after a hectic Europe trip.

0:00For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Dog It. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horek. Oh, g'day, fellas! Woo! Monday, Monday, Monday. How good? Are we fizzing? Are we excited? I'm frothing, baby. Yeah, same here, man. Can't wait. I've got it just so I can raise this because I keep forgetting about it. But this has got a buzz in it, Pugson. This thing here. And it only happens sometimes when we touch.

0:35Mike Minogue:Your headphones.

0:37Keyzie:That would do my head in if I had a buzz in my headphones. I'm very particular about headphones. I'm a backbone. Yeah, well, that's true. First and foremost, I'm a backbone. I shut up and get on with it where other people will cry about shit. Yeah. That's what I do. Like, I'm not a picky guy. Like, I'm pretty chilled and laid back. But don't mess around with my headphones. All right? Because there's other headphones in the studio that are just shit, and it desperately affects my broadcasting ability. You can give me any headphones you want, and I'll never moan about it. Right.

1:11Mike Minogue:Keezy, you've got a haircut. I've got a haircut. Oh, haircut. Keezy is a good one. Who cut your hair today, man? Adam. Adam. Yeah, man. I was just talking to Pugson about it. You have so many different lids that you operate, Keezy. You're all over the show, man. I ask for the same thing every time. It's different every time. So that's on you, Adam, over there at Maloney's, man. What are you doing, brother? I like it. Keezy's just saying just now that you're a shocking bastard. Actually, no, it's different. I said to him, I'm a little shorter on the fringe today because I'm sick of it getting curly.

1:35Mike Minogue:Right, okay. I complimented this key ring that was on his toolbox. Compliments to the chef. Because it's a brand that I used to wear when I was a little kid all the time. It's like a hot rod brand. Right. And he's like, bro, take it. And I was like, no, I can't. I just take it. Take it. Hurry up. You took it. You fucking took it. It was like the pen episode of Seinfeld. Was it? Jerry, take the pen. Jerry, come on. I want you to have a pen. And then now, and then I'm like, fuck, now I have to. Jerry, you took the pen? Yeah, I can't believe you took the pen. And now I have to give him something.

2:02Mike Minogue:I said, bro, I'm giving you something back for this. I have to think of what it could be.

2:05Keyzie:Like this massive plug you're doing right now.

2:07Mike Minogue:No, he just works there. He doesn't care about a plug.

2:09Keyzie:Right, okay.

2:10Mike Minogue:Something to put on his, you know.

2:12Keyzie:Yeah. You'd have heaps of shit at home. This is just down the road, this hairdresser, eh? Just around here. It's a hundred metres away. Okay, yeah, good.

2:19Mike Minogue:Oh, my God, that should be your new hairdresser.

2:20Keyzie:Yeah, it'll be my new lift place. You have to book it online. Oh, my God. Do I? Yes. Okay, that's all right. I can do that, Keezy. It's an app. Yes. Oh, it is?

2:31Mike Minogue:I just use the website. I do, yeah. I use the app. It's fantastic. I'll show you after this, Jase. Great stuff, fellas. I use it for a couple of things. Yeah, that and something else. Yeah, yeah. I'm in a good mood.

2:41Keyzie:Book an ass. Why are you in a good mood, Keezy? What's going on? I can tell you're in a good mood despite your coffee shocker before where you spilled an entire tin of coffee all over the ground. Yes. Oh, fuck, man.

2:52Mike Minogue:We're not made of money, Kesey. Come on. Just got lots of work done today, man. No, that's good. I feel like Mogey when you've just done a bit of work and you've got lots of work done. Yeah, bro. Just get my house ready. I've got a fucking huge list, Jase, like you. I was certainly going to say, yeah, got a huge D. I've got a huge list of stuff to do and I'm just ticking it off.

3:10Keyzie:Yeah, man.

3:11Mike Minogue:You know what I mean?

3:11Keyzie:I can't wait for the open home. I find it fun. You know, I'm coming to the open home. I am coming to the open home. Don't you worry about it. That's the only opportunity we're going to get to go to your house. Exactly. And I want to have my own list that I can mark off with my list. We've been to Jase's house now. We can't bag him.

3:28Mike Minogue:Yes. I wonder, and my wife will fucking hate this, but when the time comes to sell, because we're not selling yet, we're still getting our shit together, but if I say Mike and Jase insist on having the first open home look, like having a look through and just giving feedback.

3:42Keyzie:An exclusive look.

3:42Mike Minogue:An exclusive private viewing. That's a good idea.

3:45Keyzie:She'll be like, nah. I'll focus most of my attention on the bedrooms. Why? Just want to make sure that they're all tickety-boo, that they're all good. Yeah, all of them. All three of them. Just under the bed, under the mattress and the drawers. Yeah, correct. You know what I mean? Yeah. Okay, I'm out. Yeah, yeah.

4:03Mike Minogue:I'm out. Yeah. What have you guys been up to this weekend? Anything fun? You know what I did, Keezy, man? I worked all weekend. Wow. When's your holiday, man? I'm going to aim for about May, June, I reckon. Yeah. I'm going to go late because we've got, you see, We've got April, so we've got quite a lot of holidays there. Yes. This month we go to Hokotika, which is work, but it's also going to be fun, but it won't be relaxing in any way, shape or form. No. It'll be fun, though. It will be fun. And then we've got that. But, yeah, we've got a rebrand happening this week. Right, so it's just all hands.

4:35So it's all hands to the tiller. Right, okay, yeah, nice. And me and the wife were building websites all weekend. We've got three websites to do. It was so good. Yes. And what was really good was that last night I was spending my time building a website. But my wife, that's her area of expertise. But she got there and she was like, oh, what do you think of this? And then she moved on to something else. So I thought she was asking me for notes. So I spent five hours changing it or updating it, progressing it. Yes, improving it. And then she had a look and she goes, no, I don't like this. I don't like that.

5:08I don't like the other. Then this morning she goes, I don't know why. I was wondering why you were doing that because I'm just going to – I'll do it. But I was like, well, why did you show it to me? And she goes, just so you could see what I'm doing. But it was nowhere near close to being done. So what did you show it to me? I thought that was your effort. Right. And she goes, yeah, I was wondering why you were doing that. So she was just sort of stopping for a bit. She was showing me her progress and then she moved on to something else. But she moved on to something else, which is really my area of expertise, which is data entry.

5:40Absolute dumb, dumb bullshit. That's my area of expertise. That's what I do. I don't even know what that is, to be honest. So that's just me typing in people's names. Right, okay. You know, really basic. Your clients. Like minimum wage shit. Populating the website. Yes, populating the website. And so she was doing that while I was building websites. And then she said, yeah, I was wondering why you're doing that. And I said, don't tell me that now because I got real frustrated. You're joking. Last night because I didn't know what I was doing, Keezy. Yeah. Anyway, we're nearly there.

6:20This morning I just decided To not be frustrated And to not be stressed about it Because normally I don't really get stressed But I'm stressed about this deadline But I just went, you know

6:31Mike Minogue:Yeah The only person that even gives a shit is me Yeah Totally, man So it's going to come and go Don't worry

6:39Keyzie:That's a good thing He loves it It's a good skill to have Do you know what was amazing? As soon as I did that. There was no stress. There is no stress. Yes. I decide whether there's stress. Yeah, totally. I immediately stopped walking so fast around the kitchen. Yes. To get things done. Yes. Feeding the cat. I've got to feed the cat. I've got to make the lunch. And I just went, oh, fuck, who cares? Yeah, totally. And I got rid of the cat.

6:59Mike Minogue:Yeah. Threw the cat in the room. Declutter.

7:02Keyzie:Stress gone, eliminated.

7:03Mike Minogue:Did I ever tell you guys when I got back from Europe, the first few days of our trip were quite all go when we first got there. Right. And I was locked into, fuck, we've got to be here, and then we've got to go here. And the whole time I was stressed. And then I had a couple of glasses of wine on, and I was just like, I don't think I've enjoyed the first three days of our holiday. Yeah. And I was like, oh, it's because instead of being chill. And enjoying it. You're fucking moguying around, pacing around. Yes, exactly. Oh, fuck, we've got to be here, we've got to be there. And it's just like, actually, the whole point of it is to be.

7:29Keyzie:Enjoying it. You're there. That's the holiday. Totally. And I find what I have a really bad habit of doing is being in a hurry all the time. Yes.

7:38Mike Minogue:You are always in a hurry. You're always having your pens.

7:40Keyzie:And it's like, why am I in such a fucking hurry? Yeah. What's the time? You of all people. Me of all people. And so now I'm much better at going, fuck, just chill out, man. It'll all work out. Chill, man. Like when we were moving and shit, I got a bit stressed there. But you haven't moved for 26 years. Well, that's right. Fair enough. And it's like you, Kesey, with doing shit on your house. It was all this stuff. I was like, oh, fuck, I've got to do that before we go, and that before we go, and that before we go. and I was like, ah, fuck it, it'll be fine. But if it doesn't get done. So be it.

8:11It's like, sorry, man, we didn't get it done, but it's going to get done.

8:15Mike Minogue:I'll come back and do it. I'll see you later. Your attrition turned up today?

8:19Keyzie:Yes, 20 minutes late.

8:22Mike Minogue:Did you say first thing Monday? No, but it was because, you know,

8:29Keyzie:because you guys have seen that the lights were flickering. The flickering lights, yeah. And so he got into the sort of light switch and he went, oh, I think your dimmer's buggered. So I might have to re-circuit everything and blah, blah, blah. And I was like, oh, fucking hell. No. Start by doing the light bulbs. And in the end, he just put up new light bulbs in. And it was like, great. They work now. Thanks. Bye. Don't start with a dimmer chair. Because he walked into the apartment. He was like, Jesus, it's fucking high in here. And I was like, yeah. It is.

8:58Mike Minogue:Especially because when I first walked in, you've got Jase standing in the corner of this apartment with really high ceilings. It was like I was in a cathedral. Yes. Because of the optical illusion? Force perspective. Force perspective.

9:08Keyzie:I wasn't wearing my shoes either with my heels.

9:12Mike Minogue:Because you've got the raised shoes. Yeah, yeah. The lifts, yeah.

9:14Keyzie:So I looked even smaller than I normally look. You know what I'm saying? It looked like you were way in the distance.

9:20Mike Minogue:Yes. IDJ! And he's literally standing directly in front of me. What? Within arms reach.

9:27Keyzie:Yes, but the dimmer doesn't work now. What? So it's just like.

9:31Mike Minogue:So you put non-dimming light bulbs in?

9:33Keyzie:I don't know what he did.

9:33Mike Minogue:But it must be on a eh, eh, eh, eh. Yeah, it's on a little. Yeah, well, that reduces the power. That's what dims it. So that should be fine. Yes. Well, I'll try again today. Did he pull the switch off?

9:44Keyzie:No, I'd be fuming. Yes, he pulled the switch out. Yes.

9:46Mike Minogue:Well, he must have just gone, the dimmer part's actually fucked. So I'll just hardwire it so it's either on or off. And then Jason was like, don't even worry about it.

9:53Keyzie:Yes, that's pretty much what happened. So you don't want a dimmer. Don't you want a dimmer? Well. You've got to have a dimmer. I love dimmer. You had a dimmer there when we were there. Yes, but I don't know that we need it. Okay, you decide. Because it's going to get darker earlier.

10:07Mike Minogue:Yeah, the ambience was nice. Yes. And we have a dimmer in our lash.

10:10Keyzie:I thought it was too dark. It was bugging me on the night.

10:14Mike Minogue:Yes, but that's because you couldn't go too high. You couldn't turn it up. Yes.

10:17Keyzie:Now it's going to be too bright. Well, I like brightness, though. I like the light. I'll be honest with you, I like that as well. I like to have the option, though, if I can have the option. But I also like the bright. So my wife is always saying, turn off the lights when we're watching a movie and shit.

10:32Mike Minogue:We were still mouths, yeah. And I just like, just fucking leave them all.

10:36Keyzie:One of my girls is like that. She gets massively worked up about lighting situations, and she's forever switching lights off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'll walk into a room, and I'll go, it's so fucking dark in here. And I'll turn the lights on. She'll go, we don't need those lights. Yes. And it's like, well, we do need lights. Exactly. It's very stressful.

10:54Mike Minogue:That sounds like a stressful situation.

10:56Keyzie:Hey, why am I getting stressed about this? Just let it go, fellas. Just chill. Just chill, man. Just chill, for God's sake.

11:02Mike Minogue:She doesn't want the lights on, man. It's all cheap. Leave the lights off. It's fine. What are we doing? It's all good. Listen to the Hodaki Big Show.

11:09Keyzie:Or don't. Up the waz.

11:11Mike Minogue:Four to seven weekdays, Radio Hodaki. Up the waz, alright.
