0:20Mike Minogue:No, no, we're just doing the podcast outro. That's me. Just doing the podcast. Sorry, Kate, we're actually on air. That's extremely unprofessional. First podcast outro for the year, fellas. Welcome back. You're good, eh, Keezy? How are you going, mate? I'm going really good. Mogi can't hear himself, pug, so he might have to tutu or something. Leave him alone. Leave him alone. He'll figure it out. All right.
0:41Keyzie:I'm going really good, Jase. That's good, man. I have seen you, you know, before we started this, but it's good to know. How are you going, Mogi? I'm going great, thanks, man. I've made the mistake. I've turned up here. We're at Bruko in Tauranga, as you said, probably Keezy. Andy, it's a hot bastard today. Yes, he's steamy. I was down there. I was at the hotel. I got dropped off to the hotel. Jase, while you went down to the stadium, Kesey came down to help out Pugsar and set up. I had a swim. I've got my rooms right on the pool. I thought, oh, how good. Then I thought, actually, that's terrible.
1:11That's bad for the party. Because it's right on the pool for the party. Yeah, yeah. So every prick's going to be outside there smoking darts and jacking each other off.
1:18Keyzie:Yeah, well, as you will remember, Mogi, I was there, and I was right next to the pool. The opposite side of the pool was the one I'm in. Okay, yes. and what I can tell you is there was a great deal of lovemaking in the early hours. Oh, was there? On the pool and on the sea. I mean, I was into it. Yes. On the pool. I will be turning the light on. You know, on the little sort of lounges by the pool. Yes. Good thrusting sort of stuff. So I had my swim and that cooled me down. Then I thought, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to wear some jeans because I thought I'm going to be inside a pub.
1:47It'll be cool. Of course, I've come in here. I forgot that there's skylights directly overhead. Yes. You know, magnifying the sun. and now I'm hot as fuck. We could cut those off you if you want. We could cut them into shorts.
2:01Keyzie:We could turn them into Daisy Dukes, man. Have we got any backbone shorts? Look, I'm concurring with you. I'm wearing black jeans. Oh, you are too. And a black T-shirt. I just want everyone to know that over the summer I did wear shorts. Good on you, man. And my legs aren't too much of an embarrassment, but I just thought it was going to be really inclement weather, so I went for the jeans. Yes. And now I'm massively regretting it. Yeah, it's a shitter.
2:27Mike Minogue:I'm wearing shorts, but then again, I'm a local, so. Yeah, you get it, man. I get it, man. That's the thing, you get it. Yeah, I get it. I mean, it's summer. It's like 26, man. I get it. How good is it being back, though, Jase, for you specifically?
2:39Keyzie:It's so good, man. It was great because, of course, I had to go and do my rehearsal. Yes. For the Black Clash. Took us through that. So you go there, people won't know, Jase, because they're not in the TV industry like us three. Like us three. and so you have to go along you go along to the ground the bay oval yes looking very beautiful by the way you get taken through it by a producer of some description yes you do and what sort of chat were they giving you Jase were you tuned in no I wasn't because it's like having the meetings that we have isn't it Keezy where we've got to talk about any kind of deals that we've got coming up any kind of trips we've got going on any kind of admin and Jase you're automatically you're migrating towards the closest door and at some point, normally about a minute and a half in, you'll just say, all right then.
3:26Did anyone ask any questions?
3:28Keyzie:That's exactly what happened.
3:31Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast.
3:40Keyzie:No, what normally happens is you go there and they inundate you with information. Yeah. And what always happens from my end is I always go, look as long as no one's shouting in my ear I'm all G. Yes. And we'll sort it out on the day. Yes. This does this, this does this, this does this. Yep, sounds good. Yeah. Are you excited? No. What about the black clash? You forgot how to talk over the break. Well this is the other thing when I come back from holidays and I start talking because I don't really talk over the holidays. My wife and I haven't talked for like 20 years. Yeah. Yeah, right. You don't talk much, to be fair.
4:22Keyzie:No, I don't. And so then I come back and I'm thrown into immediately a live show. Yes. And then the Black Clash. Wow, you wanted this week off. You got it.
4:31Mike Minogue:Yes, I did. You got four days off, but we were like, you have to come do the live show at the Mount, though. And you were stoked. You were loving it. But that's a good warm-up, at least. The live show today is a good warm-up for the Black Clash tomorrow. Yeah. That's a positive spin you can take on it, Jase. I'm sure you're already thinking that.
4:46Keyzie:It was really funny, too, because the guy that's the producer, and this threw me he goes oh I was the producer that got you on at the rugby league there mate oh really magic round yeah the magic round and I went oh Jesus and he said nah mate it was effing funny but we had to get you off early mate and I said yeah well
5:04Mike Minogue:so that was when we were all at Suncorp Stadium and we were all not in probably mental state to broadcast no that was me
5:10Keyzie:going I don't want to do this
5:12Mike Minogue:and then you were on with Fletch and Hindy to millions of viewers let's not talk about
5:16Keyzie:this ever again
5:19Mike Minogue:I saw clips of it, it was very funny Well, yeah
5:23Keyzie:But you have to put things like that You know, in the distance, fellas You do Otherwise you just will never function again Look at all these stallions sitting around here In their black t-shirts
5:33Mike Minogue:It looks good, eh?
5:34Keyzie:Yeah We're live to the road Oh, are you guys hearing this? Yeah Oh Good to know Yeah, yeah
5:41Mike Minogue:Because usually That is good to know At this point in the podcast You'd start like I'd start begging people Yeah, well that's right I was going to talk about how early it is and how many absolutely maggoted scumbags there are here. But we'll save that for another time. Yeah, I think so. Save that for Monday.
5:57Keyzie:Well, look, you know, it's what we come to expect when we do the live shows, Mo. Well, it's good. It's an early start. You sort of want to get into it around about 2 o 'clock, 1 o 'clock today, 12 o 'clock, 11 o 'clock. Yes, right. And then go all the way through. Yeah. But Keezy's been into the espresso martinis. I saw that on the Insta there. How was that, Keezy? He immediately, before the drink even arrived, he had his sexuality questioned. By one of the punters here. By one of the punters, immediately. As he should. I mean, who comes to a sunny beachside resort on a glorious sunny day and orders a fucking espresso martini?
6:36Mike Minogue:First of all, James.
6:37Keyzie:I mean, come on, man.
6:38Mike Minogue:Get a beer up here, for God's sake, Keezy. It's not any espresso martini. Oh, what? Espresso. Espresso. And also, you're wearing black skinny jeans and sketches.
6:48Keyzie:Yeah, well, I'm a West Auckland boy, man. I'm not pissing around here.
6:51Mike Minogue:No, the reason is I did a full lap of the old Mount Main Strip here. No, you couldn't get a coffee anywhere. Right, okay. Because I need a coffee to put up with you guys for three hours. And so the only option left was to have an espresso martini. And I quickly drank it as fast as I could, but I managed to get a photo there blasting.
7:07Keyzie:Of you looking resplendent, Keezy, I have to say, mate. Yeah, man, I was pretty stoked with it. We'll get into holiday chat on the actual show, but good holiday there, Moggy. Yeah, it was, man. It was good to be away, although, and we will repeat ourselves a little bit, but I needed a week off, I think, before I went anywhere because I was... Wired? Nah, rooted. Yeah. I was rooted. And so I went away, and then you've got to... I had that drive down to Wellington in an electric car. Oh, yes. Was that great? So good. If you want to go on a roadie, get a car that has a range of 200k when the destination is 800k away.
7:47So we had to stop, charge up, which takes 30 to 40 minutes. And that's only for like half a tank, right? No, it tops you up pretty good. But every place you stop, you've got to get a new app to download and then you've got to pay for it and then paying for it. It's about 35, 40, between 30 and 40 bucks to charge up. So when you're doing that three times, it's the same as a tank of gas. and it's so, it's not designed for my temperament. No. My temperament is get in the car, get to the place, no stopping. Yeah. Piss your pants, we're not stopping anywhere. I'm the same. We stopped like four times, a seven hour trip took 11 hours.
8:22I fucking hated it.
8:25Keyzie:Yeah. No, I'd hate that too. I'm one of those people as well that goes, okay, we're going here, let's pack our shit and let's move. And let's not piss around with wheeze.
8:36Mike Minogue:No. Let's not piss around with wheeze.
8:38Keyzie:And all that sort of carry on. We're going to go from A to B immediately. Yeah. Electric vehicle, great for around the city you live in. Yes. 100%. Makes sense for cost, all that sort of stuff, but absolutely not for a roadie. Next time we'll take the T to...
8:52Mike Minogue:I had an EV for about two weeks there. I was reviewing one. Oh, yes. And what I found was I could plug it in at home and at work. Yes. So it was always topped up. And if you're in that situation, it was excellent. 100%. But, yeah, driving a Wellington street. Yeah, it wasn't it. It was not it. and quite a lot of people get into them now but it's that 30 to 40 minute stop if there was one, if it was one stop probably that's okay considering you've got a kid as well but it was three wish I was there man
9:19Keyzie:my daughter was driving an electric car on a big trip too and she said the other thing they had to deal with was having to wait so they'd go to a charging station and there'd be people there and you'd just be like I was pretty good we got there in terms of well this is what it is so I was fine but it's just like moving forward this will never happen again but then we got on one and it started charging the missus had to download the app, get a little sort of that no problems with that, then it starts charging and then after 30-40 seconds it just stopped do it again, 30-40 seconds stop then again and then at that point I'm fucking it you're ropeable you're like I'm not doing this man that's bullshit, I can handle anything it's that technology sort of thing where I just want to put my head through a wall.
10:07Yeah, I get it. Yeah, so that was good. But on the bright side, we got down to Wellington. Beautiful weather down there, fellas. There for about five days. Cousin just bought a house on the water. Oh, lovely. Howling northerlies for five days. 120, 130 k's right in your face.
