In short
This episode is an outro from The Hauraki Big Show, where the hosts (Pepper, Keezy, Jase, and Kesey) banter about Auckland weather, haircuts, and weekend plans. Key claims and examples: Keezy jokes about being called a “prick” after a video; Jase says he got his haircut while a man was “jacking it” in the park, and he missed his barber appointment because his daughter was sick. They complain Daily Bread croissants are overcooked or sometimes “bullet” hard because yeast seems missing in frozen pastries. They also discuss missing a play (“Sons of VAR”) due to booking confusion, then planning to attend a Wednesday matinee and coordinating dinner (hot pot vs ramen) near the theatre. No guests.

0:15Keyzie:Oh, g'day fellas. Pepper. Hello. How are we going team? What a weekend. What a weekend it was. The stunning. Absolutely stunning. I can only speak for Auckland City. The stunning weather continues.
0:31Mike Minogue:With the fellas. It was beautiful, wasn't it? Yes. Wasn't it? It sucked at the end of last week, though. I was like, oh, winter sucks. Oh, yeah, we had two shit days. Yeah. Come on, Keezy, man. And then back to beautiful again.
0:43Keyzie:I think we've had two shit days all of autumn in the start of winter. I mean, we've got to count our blessings, fellas. Yeah, come on, Keezy, man. Come on, be more positive, Keezy. I'm literally stoked. Yeah. Positive, Keezy. Very nice hairdo, man. Very good. What's with the grin? No, it's got, can't I just pay you a compliment without you thinking that I was being.
1:07Mike Minogue:That was not a compliment.
1:08Keyzie:What? You had a smirk. I said, it put a smile on my face.
1:13Mike Minogue:And you said hairdo, like hairdo is like a weird term.
1:16Keyzie:Hairdo as in you're looking sharp, it's looking good. Kia kaha to you, Kesey. Right, he was telling me off air that he thought you look a prick.
1:24Mike Minogue:Really? A prick? That is like pretty full on man
1:29Keyzie:Was I saying that off air to you? That was shocking Whereabouts exactly did I say that to you? You're just out there Yes And you're looking at Keezy And you said to me Hey Moe Look at this prick
1:42Mike Minogue:Wow Because For a bit there You guys were down that end And I was down the other end Is that when it happened? Well we shook Because we did that video You did a video From a clown Yeah And then he said Look at this guy Doesn't he look a prick? Yeah We're in his haircut.
1:56Keyzie:So I said, look at this guy. Look at this prick. Is that what I said, is it?
2:02Mike Minogue:But the thing is, Jase, we never have a crack at you over stuff like that. That's too personal.
2:07Keyzie:And why would you? I have a lovely head of hair. You do, but you normally cover it up with a hat, but not today. No, man. Is this your new leaf? Yes, my new leaf. Have you had a haircut over the road yet? No. No, I just got mine down just across the road from me, really. And the guy rests his penis on his shoulder. Oh, the guy that's dealing drugs in the park there, the guy that was jacking it in the park. So he cut hair as well. Yeah, that guy. I sat down on the path while he jacked it and cut my hair. That's fucked up. And then I called Gizy a prick. You're getting the hang of this now, man.
2:39You've changed, man.
2:40Mike Minogue:You've become a bit of an arsehole. Yes.
2:46Mike Minogue:But for the first time ever, I missed a hair appointment on Friday. I booked a haircut. And I completely just, it slipped my mind. I know, you rang me in tears Oh my god I got a phone call from my barber, Adam Who's a great fella He's like, hey bro, you got a haircut And I was like, fuck, nah, didn't charge me one Did they not? But I wanted to pay one They charged me one a while ago Did they? They did I would have paid it anyway And I was going to offer it And the reason I didn't turn up was because my daughter was sick But I also forgot I just forgot, and he's like, bro, you had a haircut And then I reckon I've said the F word about five times Yeah.
3:23Mike Minogue:And then today. You're abusing him, were you? You're calling him a real piece of work. Yeah, I called him a prick. So look at this prick. Sorry I'm late, by the way. I was getting my hair cut from a guy and getting jacked off. What was it? Sitting on the path. The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast.
3:43Keyzie:Speaking of missing things.
3:46Mike Minogue:Oh, the haircut appointment. Yes. But they are booked out all the time, Keezy. I know, no, totally.
3:51Keyzie:On Saturday morning, my wife and I were having a coffee. A daily bread, actually, just down downtown. Fucking good. Really good. The one on Customs Street. Yeah, yes. Opposite Showgirls. I don't know where Showgirls is, so I couldn't tell you. That's good from him.
4:07Mike Minogue:Is it down by the train building? Yes. That is a train.
4:10Keyzie:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fucking good. Can I just say expensive, but bloody delicious. Anyway. You know, they do a funny thing there, just since you brought it up. Yes. They overcook their croissants. Oh. I find always a little bit too brown. You expect golden. They're a bit darker than that. And we always get our croissants from them, the frozen ones. Right, okay. You get them out the night before on a Sunday. We've got our Sunday tradition of croissants and pano chocolat keys. You can get a mixed bag. The daughter watches TV and has a pano chocolat while we sit in bed, have a coffee, croissant, read the paper.
4:47Yeah, very nice. It's a great thing. However, of late, when you put them on the tray in the oven to defrost overnight, they're meant to rise. They haven't been rising.
4:59Mike Minogue:Wow, they've changed something. Well, yeah, seemingly they've put no yeast in it. So they just end up being hard little bullet bastards. We've returned some. You'd think it'd be a one-off, but it's happening quite a lot. Oh, interesting. And I'm at the point now where I'm going to stop buying them. Fair enough. So I'm just telling you, it's a real shame because they are the best in the business. Well, we went to the one on Dom Road, which is like Auckland's best place to get them. Oh, yeah, they got them on Ponsonby Road as well. Well, it's not Daily Bread, it's some other place. It's like a standalone.
5:26Mike Minogue:Oh, you went so, oh, okay. Yeah, and got a pain au chocolat. Yeah. Which, when we were in Paris, was the first time I'd even had one. I was like, wow, these fucking rule. Yeah. Had one there, it was delicious.
5:36Keyzie:Have you been to Paris, Jase? No, but I've had a pain au chocolat many times.
5:40Mike Minogue:It's pronounced pain au chocolate. Can I get back to my story, please? Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait. For fuck's sake. And then we went back there and got a croissant and it was overcooked. And we were like, cool, the best croissants in Auckland apparently are overcooked. Yeah. What's that about? And we'd been to the one you were talking about, same thing. Same thing, don't you think? What the fuck, man? What were you saying, Jase?
6:01Keyzie:So anyway, we were at Daily Bread enjoying our breakfast. I've already talked about this. My wife got a message on her email saying, hope you enjoyed Sons of VAR.
6:16Mike Minogue:Oh, no.
6:17Keyzie:And Koshi was like, well, that's weird that they would send me that. Why would they send me that? That's a show, right? That's a show. And she'd made a booking for Friday. And actually, last Friday, I got home and I went, oh, it's funny, because I thought we were going to that play tonight. She said, no, it's next Friday. It was this Friday gone. Right, so you missed it. So we missed it. But the good news is my wife used to go to school with the guy that wrote it. Oh, really? He said, oh, mate, I hope it's going well. Sorry. I've absolutely cocked it up. I've cocked it up and we missed it. We were meant to go on Friday and so he got him all tickets.
6:54Oh, great. When are you going? Wednesday. That's a good day. So that's midday or at night?
7:01Keyzie:What do you mean at midday?
7:03Mike Minogue:Why would they do a show at midday? Because he said that's a good day. And I was like, okay, it must be a midday then. A midday theatre show? I don't fucking know. A Wednesday matinee Isn't that a thing God I'm not like a When are you going Wednesday night I don't want to talk
7:20Keyzie:About it anymore Because it's a big
7:23Mike Minogue:Two days for you Is all I'm saying Inglebert Oh yeah And then a play But I've got to be honest I went nah You said no to it
7:30Keyzie:Yeah What was that
7:32Mike Minogue:Hot pot
7:32Keyzie:On Mogie's review Oh yeah
7:36Mike Minogue:That's not fair at all

7:37Keyzie:Actually that's a very Good point Kesey It is Wednesday Is hot pot night
7:41Mike Minogue:And I have Inglebert the night before So it's a big week
7:45Keyzie:I thought we could go to
7:47Mike Minogue:Plus Mogies on Friday
7:49Keyzie:If we want some place to eat That ramen joint just up the road from us I just prefer to be a bit more European I'm afraid Why okay Don't really do European But you could get ramen though I'm only kidding I'll go to any of these places It's good for me to find out about new restaurants It's not amazing but it's pretty good See what he's doing?
8:10Mike Minogue:Yeah, managing expectations.
8:12Keyzie:It's not hot pot, but that would be weird doing hot pot together because you guys would get all squiffy about the ingredients. What the fuck is squiffy? He keeps using squiffy. It's not a word.
8:21Mike Minogue:You go, ooh, look at all. Squiffy. No, I love a hot pot. You know that. You know that I'd love a hot pot. But we need somewhere right close to the theatre there because we're pretty tight for time.
8:31Keyzie:Are we? Yeah. Yeah, well, it's just up an Upper Queen. Just up from the Korean place we went to. Oh, okay, perfect. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're spot on. And there'll be room enough for... I think so, yeah. It's quite a big place. So we'll get there and there won't be.
8:44Mike Minogue:Yeah, it'll be closed. Unless it...
8:46Keyzie:And then we'll go get a hot pot. Unless it, in a freakish way, is booked that night or something. But it's never very full. Should we be the ones that book?
8:54Mike Minogue:Maybe. Do you want to take care of that? Yeah, okay.
8:57Keyzie:Okay.
8:58Mike Minogue:Because you've got to walk past it, maybe. You could walk past Pop and, hey, can I book a table for eight tomorrow, just after seven there?
9:04Keyzie:Just after seven? Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, yes. Is anyone doing sushi today? There's a ramen. I thought about it. Are you going over? Yes, Keezy, question. Feels like the timing's really good. We should go. We're going to chop about a minute out of this. What I like about this ramen is it's not a stupidly large serving.
9:22Mike Minogue:Right, so it's a small ramen. So we're going to go have a cup of miso. Shit ramen.
9:27Keyzie:It's an adequate, and you can get it real hot if you want, if you want a bit of burniness. I don't.
9:32Mike Minogue:Should we all go burniness to Inglebert? Yeah. Ingleburniness. Ingleburn Humper Nuss And shit ourselves Ingleburn Nuss Inglebutt Suckernus Yeah cool man Inglebutt Suckernus Hey thanks for listening to the big show Goodbye Good listening We'll see you on the radio there for all seven weekdays Radio Haraki Stop it
