In short

The hosts trade weekend stories and banter about health/medicine fears, including CBD-related paranoia, misuse of nasal decongestant spray (Otraven) and cold/“cold drill,” and worries about Viagra and vaping.

Guests

No guests appear; it’s a host-only segment (Jason Hoyt, Keezy, Maggie, and others referenced like “Breakfast Boys,” plus “Lane” mentioned).

Key claims

Otraven/cold drill constrict blood vessels, causing rebound swelling/inflammation and worsening symptoms if used beyond 3 days. Viagra is feared due to whole-body effects and rare “erection won’t go away” emergencies. Vaping is distrusted because vape juice ingredients are unknown.

Notable examples

A masked man outside the apartment doing finger-gun suicide pantomime and vaping; discussion of Magic Round timing; Keezy’s vape after quitting; Viagra “snorting” story and “forever erection” anecdote.

0:00Yeah.

0:01Keyzie:For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Doggy. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Hoda Aircare. Oh, g'day fellas. Hello. I just remembered something really weird that happened to me today and then I put it out of my mind and it's just put some, I don't know why it popped back into my mind.

0:29Mike Minogue:Was it something to do with someone in the CBD? Yes, it was.

0:32Keyzie:Right outside my apartment there, dude walking down the street wearing a mask. What kind of mask? Like a COVID mask? Yeah, like a COVID black mask. Medical mask. But I noticed him walking across the street and he was doing weird stuff, and I think that's why I was looking at him. And he was walking down the path, and then he stopped, and he saw me looking at him through my window. And he did the gun thing. Sorry, were you at home? I was at home. Ah. I was just staring at him. Oh, no. And then he did the gun thing and put the gun thing to his head and went, So for the people at home, Jase was putting finger guns to the side of his head and pulling the trigger.

1:13Keyzie:And I was like, oh, that's a bit intense. Then he goes and sits down on the path and starts vaping through his mask. I think he was chatting, but there was no one there. Didn't want anyone reading his lips. Maybe. and then he lifted up his shirt and he was wearing trackies and he had a sweatshirt on and he had a bottle of Heineken in his trackies.

1:35Mike Minogue:When he did the gun thing to you, you should have done like a blow and arrow or something back. Yes. I should have dropped. Or you should have like pulled out two guns and then been like, have a shoot off.

1:46Keyzie:But isn't that funny? And I completely forgot about that because at the time I was like, that's quite intense. I don't know what the Breakfast Boys were talking about this morning, but there's a text here. Would you like to hear it, Jase? Sure. It's about you. Oh, no. Do you still want to hear it? Is it going to depress me? Do you know what's interesting?

2:00Mike Minogue:We'll see how it goes. Before you read this, my wife came across a Reddit thread the other day about New Zealand radio hosts or something. And then one of the comments was like, do the radio announcers like each other on Hodaki? Because the breakfast show guys are always going Keezy and Hoity J. Like they genuinely don't like us. And Lucy was like, have you seen that? And I was like, oh, shit, they must have been putting the boot into us recently. Standy, isn't it? So now with that in mind, I wonder what this text says. Here it goes. You ready? Yes. Jason Hoyt gives me a rager. Oh, that's good.

2:32Okay, that's all right. That's pretty good. Yeah, that's fine.

2:36Keyzie:Well, it's funny, isn't it, how people can perceive our relationships?

2:41Mike Minogue:Yeah.

2:42Keyzie:You know what I mean?

2:43Mike Minogue:Because people would think you and I are best mates, eh, Jay? But it's all just the radio.

2:50Keyzie:It's all just a massive lie. But yeah How did that go on I didn't listen to Breakfast

2:55Mike Minogue:I listened to Ben Hurley And Minaya this morning Oh yeah I like that pairing Right They're great And I think it's because We've done Well I'm not doing it anymore But we did like Four years of the Mad Monday NRL podcast together Yes And so it's literally Just like you You jump in with someone You're familiar with And you can instantly tell That a show's better Yeah Well not better What do you mean Well I mean Drew They've been together For a year Every single day Better than if they Randomly paired someone up Like they are Want to do sometimes Yes, yes. How was the weekend, fellas? Good. Had the parents up, man.

3:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, I saw that. Did you? Or did you hear about it on the radio last week? I saw you on the Insta. First time putting a photo of me and my parents up on the Insta. Yeah, how'd that go? Well, it was good, but I was like, I'm going to have to keep an eye out for comments here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I love the big show audience, but if someone actually comments anything fucked up about my parents, I'll be like, okay. Yes. Everything was great. That's good. That's why I'm always - I haven't had a chance to comment yet, so my apologies. Oh, no, you're allowed to. You'll say something about old fucking periods.

3:54Yeah, I'll say something.

3:55Keyzie:I'm always very, very, very loath to put any of my family members in the Insta.

4:01Mike Minogue:Totally.

4:02Keyzie:You know what I mean? Because I just go, no, I'm not doing it.

4:05Mike Minogue:But my wife, who is - My wife! She's on Instagram herself, obviously, private. She said she's got about 200 follow requests from random dudes around New Zealand, which is quite funny. But my parents are like, I don't know. That's sweet, man. They're not my kids, you know? No, I know. I don't know if you know this, but I'm their kids. Yeah, that's right.

4:22Keyzie:They can handle themselves. Yes.

4:24Mike Minogue:Fuck yeah, especially old Don.

4:26Keyzie:Yeah, man. Don't want to mess with old Don. Fuck yeah. How was your weekend, Maggie? I'm sensing a big one. Well, no. No, the problem is I got, I was telling Keezy before you came out, I got on the Otraven. What's that again? The spray? The sinus spray stuff. And it turns out what it is is that affects your blood vessels and your honker. Right. Fucking hell. And then you get out. I know, there's a lot of blood vessels in there. You must have a lot of spray. There must be a shortage. You had one of those weed sprayers from the garden? Yeah, yeah. Did you have a backpack on and just shove the nozzle on?

5:02Hey. And so you get a bounce back from it, so it clears your nose in the short term, but in the long term, no good. So all the complaining that I've been doing, I think, you know how you end up with a cough? Yes. And all that sort of stuff. It's from the Otraven. Right. And so that and also the cold drill, so the spray constricts the blood vessels in your sinuses. And cold drill and all that sort of stuff, that constricts the blood vessels in your entire body, including in your honker. Right. So then after that, it agitates those blood vessels. And so the swelling increases and the agitation increases.

5:45What do you call that? There's a word for it. Inflammation Inflammation increases So it gets rid of it temporarily But it keeps it long term But because I didn't know that Especially with the cold drill And would have just been using it And using it And using it I'm just making it worse And worse and worse Right And so now I just have to Completely stay away from it

6:02Mike Minogue:Because Ochoven Because it just fucks you as well I've been fucked all weekend Just exhausted It says on the thing like Don't use for more than Three days consecutively That's right So that's what I do And then I take a week off Yeah and then use it again And then you use it again Because you don't so much But I also think Yeah, that's true until it's not. Also, I got to bed about 5 o 'clock in the morning on Saturday morning. And you weren't drinking? Oh, I was hammered. Yeah. That's the most confusing way to say yes, I was drinking.

6:27Keyzie:I was going to say, you've been sounding really good. I have. And I thought you were over that little bass, but I thought he must be on the durries or something. Well, funnily enough, I know that it's not related to the drinking, but it was a great weekend. What a weekend to be alive.

6:40Mike Minogue:You were doing like shots of Ultraman though, weren't you? I was literally doing shots. Drinking it.

6:52Keyzie:I was reading somewhere just in the last day or two, just in that kind of vein about Viagra. Not because I'm interested in Viagra. You're reading it or it was on Instagram. But it was... You Googled it. And it was something to do with not inflaming, but...

7:07Mike Minogue:I know where you were. You were standing there.

7:09Keyzie:Engorging every organ in your body, not just that organ. Oh, right. And that it affects the entire body and area. Can I just for the record, it's important I say this, I've never taken Viagra. I have. I'll tell you why, though.

7:27Mike Minogue:Because you tried to snort it once and it had a really bad effect?

7:29Keyzie:No, because I think. And you needed 1 ,800 to get up your head? No doubt I would have a heart attack if I had it.

7:34Mike Minogue:Because it inflames everything. He snorted it. It got stuck in his nose. And I was also. So you just sniffed the entire tablet.

7:39Keyzie:I was also put off by Lane's story about taking it and how he had an erection forever. Yeah. And he just couldn't get rid of it.

7:48Mike Minogue:He's still got it.

7:48Keyzie:And I've also heard stories that if you take Viagra and your erection doesn't go away, get yourself to an emergency place immediately. What I love about you, Jase, is that you sort of track down stories and you're more scared of medicine than you are of doing things that are bad. So you're more scared of taking medicine or seeing a doctor than you are of vaping or smoking darts or any of these things. Yes. That's such a good point. You don't trust the medicine. You trust all these things that are horrendous for you. They're fine. Totally. There's the medicine and the doctors. That's totally right.

8:21Keyzie:I've always had a paranoia of pills and all that, any kind of medication.

8:29Mike Minogue:What if they're drugs?

Read the full transcript

8:31Keyzie:Well, I haven't really taken pills, drug.

8:35Mike Minogue:Yeah, right. Not a big drug guy.

8:37Keyzie:No, I'm not. So I've always had that suspicion. Like if I take a pill or something, I'll sit there and I go, okay, okay, okay, what's going to happen? Okay.

8:50Mike Minogue:Here it comes.

8:51Keyzie:And you know what it is. Back in the heyday, I may have taken certain things that come on very, like you'll be fine, and then all of a sudden it's like, hello. Yeah. And so I have that deep-set paranoia in me of like, taking something and then it overwhelming me? Yes. Yeah. What about you, Keezy? What about me? Are you the same? No. You love...

9:17Mike Minogue:I don't give a shit.

9:18Keyzie:Do you still have your... Why are you looking at me like that? Why are you on your eyes?

9:25Mike Minogue:Bebuliser. What is it? No. Do you still have your... Erection? No. Jase uses a vacuum cleaner pipe to snort lines, by the way. I just need to get that in there. Yes. I thought it was a drain pipe. I have two pipes, one for each nostril.

9:39Keyzie:No, do you still have your - I thought it was a Waterview Tunnel. What did you get the medication you got for - What was the medication you got for when you - I don't fucking know. In inverted commas, pulled your hammy? Trammies. Trammies.

9:53Mike Minogue:Yeah, have I still got it? Yeah. Okay. I actually have it. I got rid of it. Because I don't need trammies. What do I need trammies for? God, everyone's getting real cagey now. Feeling good. Have you ever had one, though? What if you're having a bad day? You just want to feel good. You just take some drugs, Keezy. Don't you know about that? I literally have never had a bad day and then taken drugs to feel good. What are you doing?

10:15Keyzie:And can I just put a disclaimer in here? In no way are we, you know, claiming anything good or bad about drugs. Oh, you are. I mean, I am. You're saying they're great. I'm saying I'm deeply paranoid of them. You're saying you love them and everyone should do them. And that is why I'm always loathe. You know, even with things like depression or something like that, or anxiety. They go, take these. And I'm like, ooh. Yeah. Ooh.

10:41Mike Minogue:That's such a good point you brought up. But hey, have a dar. It's really bad for you. Okay. Yeah, whatever. But these could be maybe bad for you, I've heard. I've heard from somebody. But most likely really good. Yeah, that's right.

10:52Keyzie:Just on that, when did we go, because I was trying to figure it out the other day, when did we go to Magic Round?

10:57Mike Minogue:May.

10:58Keyzie:May.

10:59Mike Minogue:You tried to figure that out the other day. Well, you just Google Magic Round. Sitting there on the couch there. Trying to figure it out. Just staring off into the middle distance. Trying to work it out. He's got his fucking epicus out.

11:11Keyzie:My wife asked me how long has it been since you've had a cigarette. Oh. And it was magic round.

11:17Mike Minogue:You're right. There you go. Oh, was it? Two months.

11:20Keyzie:Two months. Not long, is it? I was hoping it was longer than that, to be honest. Nah. That's good, though. That's good. How long since you've had a vape? I had a vape on Friday night. Oh, good Lord. Fucking heinous. So good, eh? That's good. No chance. Half an hour? I actually got into a bit of a yarn about that. People who vape defend it. They defend it to the better end. I said, well, I've said a lot of things, but one of the things I said was, with tobacco, at least it comes from a plant. Sure, they do a whole lot of shit to it, and it's horrendous, but at least you kind of know what you're getting.

11:59But with a vape, fuck knows what that juice is. Where does that come from? Yeah, yeah, totally. And everybody that vaped was going, no, tobacco is worse. Yeah, but that's for their own sanity. Oh, 100%. And that was what the conversation ended up being.

12:13Keyzie:I have in no way convinced myself that vaping is good in any form. I wonder what that juice is, though. Yeah. Vape juice. It comes from the juice of a vape tree.

12:23Mike Minogue:It'll just be fucking chemicals. You pluck it from the vape vine and you make sparkling vape juice with it. Come on, man. When you were reading that thing about Viagra, do you seriously want to know the image that popped into my head of you reading it? Sure. It was you standing in the bathroom. Naked. No, top half T-shirt on. Winnie the Pooh, bottom half. And it was like really intense like sterile lighting in your bathroom. And you're reading the back of a packet of Viagra standing there with a massive limp penis. That was the image that was in my head. Just with hope in your eyes. With hope.

12:57Mike Minogue:And you're reading it like Maycalls blah, blah, blah. And you're like, oh, God. Oh, it's worth it.

13:00Keyzie:The only... That's remarkably accurate, Keezy. The only thing was she wasn't limp, mate.

13:08Mike Minogue:So you've got sterile lighting in your bathroom. Yeah, it is. And you were Winnie the Pooh-ing.

13:12Keyzie:It's very brutal lighting in my life. Brutal lighting.

13:16Mike Minogue:You know those... You were Donald Ducking.

13:18Keyzie:Our bathroom, the lighting's quite nice. I like it. And the other bathroom, it's shocking. You know how some lighting makes you look pretty good and other lighting's like, oh, Jesus. Yeah. I like the lighting in the toilet here it's shocking

13:32Mike Minogue:that's because it's like sterile business toilet lighting business toilet neon business toilet bullshit this is a business toilet this isn't a recreational anyway this is the big show 4 to 7 weekdays oh that's a big one Odaki big show cheers

13:46Keyzie:cheers cheers
